"One or something you know judy garland. Oh that's that's the consensus. I thought people have the barbara won. The most movies go by the same title with the same title. Always i think the first one is different. But then the judy remake i. I mean i could be totally wrong. Maybe they're all called that. But i have a feeling that i remember the first one is something else. Three three call the star is born and then their first one was called something else. But it's the exact same plot. Gotcha gotcha okay like solid remake. And then they're all driver from the beginning of each one and can't alcoholism absolutely not but whatever next one in twenty years it's going to start me and desmond. Amazing now yeah. So let's let's just wrap this section in a minute or less What is what is your favorite drag race memory. Oh my favorite drag race memory. I always like a real kind of so chad. Because i wanted to delve deep into everything that was happening but i think the peak of that was maybe season three and two ooh literally seasons three is. The best season has down around five on every time. Roger would come onto the runway. I was just mesmerized. And i think i think it was an ongoing thing especially from america's next top model and i think it's just a little bit in love salaam to be honest though. Yeah i i just used to consume everything rauscher related stop by code especially for you being a creative like it must have just been such a christmas to watch. Russia come up with these ideas and execute them and sell them on the runway. I it honestly. I just i just think she she is like the ultimate drag race artist and i just i can't get enough and yeah whatever i'm saad now i just put season three and as an excellent. Thank you nick do you are you are. You can just say a quick A quick memory. That brings me a lot of joy. I i'm gonna say kim cheese finale performance of fen fat larry's it's also political It's so totally. Her and her finale looks. I mean especially. All of her looks season. I mean i think she is such a powerful look and fashion icon. Don't get me started on the makeup. She's one of my favorite queens. So that whole thing that brought me a lot of instill newsmax kimchi and talk about queen. Who like literally never looks bad. And and one who wants to try and come for kimchi's looks as always just like no we can't but now i know didn't happen on the show but one of my favorite looks i've ever seen on a drag queen and probably would have been a winner for peace guitar. Last week was when she was on Maybe it was extra lap recap. I'm not really sure Or pitstop but she was wearing a teddy bear cushion only omega and she was in and she what the cushion teddy bear. Oh my god. It was like down to her waist. Like the body of the bear. That was one of my favorite ever on a drag queen. So only god okay. Good first of all where's is all stars stacking of all total. How is it that we all know this outfit. Because it's like one pit stop episode. It's not even. It's it's unofficially. Part of the draggers macular and yet this outfit is so epic. Never misses an opportunity to be totally stunning. Well just drink Kimchi answers her her season and her niobe meet for the first time. "She's kind of like the new breed of drag race goes. It's not just about selling the shows clubs and the buzz kind kind you generate this whole internet presence which is which is kind of going to be. Maybe being new important thing. Yeah yeah totally. Yeah i mean but it kind of shows that like she only really has this one kind of like version of simone which is like the sassy woman and she kinda like relies on it and we. It would be good to see like another version of her when we were. We were talking To use manila luzon as an example. There's like kind of like campy manila. There's like sexy manila. Then there's like you know sassy manila and they're like you get all of those. I just sometimes. Sometimes i ask myself and like maybe we just needed one more year one more year. And then you just wouldn't really like all right so also. When i think about dick's golden look was beautiful. It was the only thing every thing. Simone that has been delicious right. Someone pointed out to me and this'll be except for last week. Be sure that almost every look she is done on a runway has been referenced like almost every single one. Yeah yeah so the last week and this week her. Emma looks beautiful on all these european but like like now it not be a rough brench is like extra it gives me. It's a tree or like you feel like this wasn't a reference. The golden one or i mean maybe it's inspired by something but i think he's saying paul's done that done that. Look already right for like the handling it. Paul were that. Be paul dressed up as the emmy once upon a time. And i look with recycled for a drag race. Promo look and no and then this what. What what simone's wearing is it was done. It was worn. I mean obviously this is address form of it. But we've seen this in bloomberg george michael video where the he had all the supermodels like do a fashion show in the game and there was like kind of like motorcycle. You know. it's very ninety fashion. Like which is. Yeah which is very similar. She's reference dragging she's like. She has all the magazines off. My body is as well. I wasn't original. It was just gorgeous. Or i didn't mind it. I guess if that's the case i would just loved he something outside the realm of referencing every week. Then you know. Yeah yeah the only original thing i saw was the white dress shirt to say my name. Say their name on the metro. Yeah and i'm going to say that's an i know it's gonna. I don't know if we're gonna coming but the way that the words were written on the back could have been elevated it will. They're very small. Yeah and it's not a small. It's like literally the way that they were done like the calligraphy work was like so so it looks good on that dress. The dress looked editorial. The writing was just a little could have been maybe elevator. that's fine. yeah that's that's free paint it. I mean. I guess they wanted to look but yeah i was like but i was just i was pointing. That out is like so when it wasn't perfectly edited. It looks like a little makeshift which means that. Maybe there's like an extra level that we could get On the rides jer. But yeah so beautiful. Okay all right so apparently we're doing roast now so john what's the what's the order you can. I don't have anything. And i of got to prepare for. So i don't have that. Yeah literally. I will say for the last hour before we got the call i was like. What did they do. Bros jokes chain all right. So here's what. I came on service nick Of course we know knicks from kansas originally which which means we know what he got on. Sat drool that's great. john. I don't know you know. This is the first time. We're in iraq and i know you're a actor and dancer and you made the decision to make podcast with nick. One thing about you for sure. Bad decision off me jimmy. I'm still fabulous thing. You are going to be here with us today. If i didn't prepare anything but where did you say you were phone northbound. There's one thing we know about couplets. They don't have great hairlines. There's fire. I saw back in our first improv team together. Thanks very good not lobster. Philip was jusuf lawrence cheney on the background cherry. Valentine's like well there's one thing we know they have qatif. Do they have now very very good. Very good thank you thank you i mean let me let me let me get this little dabble. Oh god no oh thank you. Everyone didn't realize that monthly man is gay away. You heard him speak great. It's been such a pleasure to podcast. Work podcast with you. I mean when. I was thinking about doing this. Podcast i was like how can i make myself look just so great. Oh right we find the only gay person that hasn't any drag race ever partner up with them and then all sound like a genius. So thank you. i'm philip. It has been such a meeting you before you get arrested for stealing everyone's grinder photos and turning them into art Critical.

"I don't want to be racist and offensive. She warned that. This would happen and literally like i was like. Can you stop making fat jokes to lonnie motion. Oh my god. I get what you're trying to do but like it's coming out about way it makes me think that you'd aquino's like she's offended people before and gotten in trouble probably personal life or something she this would happen. And we believe her synagogue. Last week oprah says when someone who they are somebody to sit her down and be like gnarled offensive. Don't do it don't do it kind of like what you were saying before me. John and double down on. She was like i'm sorry. I apparently these came on me. But i still having fun ice on. I was so having a good time. Literally people back and her defend her. Terrible disaster of roach routine did give us a beautiful moment of repulse flipping off. Someone the to some really funny stuff. Like when lonnie back. That was hilarious. But you know that happened right. Why she told rupaul to stand up. Yeah yeah yeah. Does she said you're a big fashion icon. Stand up so the joke being. You're so tall. Which like hilarious joke. Paul takes off the bottom half of her drag when she sits behind the judge's table so when she's inspectors you know that you're such a fashion icon. Please stand up. And rupaul was like oh the flip off a lot of sense and i bet i bet you that filming stopped and rupaul was like stopped filming. This is not happening. What happened is we're going to move along and then everyone's going to pretend like this didn't happen and i'm gonna you know i don't think so funny. I didn't even know that. And i just think that you could never understood that rupaul. Giving her the finger was actually rupaul. Being annoyed but making it funny but being very annoying oh totally. Yeah but being like come on. Yeah that's not happening. And i'm sorry. Utica does not sell sex and they played ariana grande day song during that producers. were like. You're going home looks relocating. She was doing a lot of the same move and she was doing in malaysia. Up my humps. A- and i think if it's 'cause like if you're taking a sexy song or something like that and trying to make it creepy that totally served her last week it worked out in her favor because it was such a crazy juxtaposition that it was entertaining but this week it's like do they want to see that twice and it didn't. It just didn't work out again. Yeah it's hard to face with those with her. Delivery of those little tiny lyrical bits was so funny but i honestly expected her to dance a lot. More dance to dance. I showed you who they are. I because you look at her and you're like oh she can dance. She looks like she can dance. She's all legs. You can't always dance. Not everyone like. This is stereotyping Last week we talking about parking and barking and understanding what that is an understanding the power of what that is in that we needed latrice royale to come and like give them a tutorial. Because everyone's like don't themselves all over the place looking themselves crazy staff and it's just like please i'm about to puke. I want to see a state. And then we got simone doing a park and bark situation and it was a lovely. It was lovely. Yes character moments drama. It was drag. I'm like i'm like. I'm like where has this been. All season agreed agreed i. I'm looking confused. Because i'm like trying to count the lip syncs and i'm like i think we had good lip syncs up fronts during the five lip synch extravaganza right. Then we had lalla re taking us. Church and denali doing a good job as well and then every other time that simmons lip sync and those like the season for me. Everything else is just been kind of like you know i think maybe mixing overload as well. Though like starting the season everyone pulled out my best moves to go downhill from there but so spoiled us right at the beginning. I guess it made. It made the elimination lip. Syncs like subconsciously. A little less something to look forward to. I guess obam we saw everybody's listening skill immediately and there's always this fun like oh. I wonder what's going to happen. I.

"Album ever forget that design. Excuse you can't you can't caulker So here's the thing. She is very talented. I don't think that. I don't think they were getting like one. Hundred percent of who utica is because everything was like a little bit wonky wall. Yeah there's a wall. There's a wall. And i think that once she breaks it down it's going to be really it's gonna be really great and and i don't know you know 'cause drag races. The prison experiment you. You're crazy will come out and i'm sure that like with that extra filter of personal time and personal space. It's going to. It's going to look good on utica. Because i'm sure that he needs to control how she's putting herself out. That will allow her to be the best version of herself When she doing such a public job. I feel like that. Hold true for a lot of queens. Once they are finished with filming drag race and then begin to see how they're edited and perceived on the show but a lot of them blossom. makeup becomes more. Refined d. is very unforgiving in god's house problem. But i'm just saying like i feel like once you exit the show you blossom like hardcore. You're forced to like look you're imaging yourself and yes we're finding because it gives you so many specific things every week that the judges tell you you have to work on getting all this feedback in such a short amount of time because these aren't every week it's every two days making right so you doing this so light. Speed that i'm sure it's so much information intake then host show. Yeah you really digest and adjust. And i mean how much adjustments especially now thirty teams. How much can you really make on the show when the thing where you brought. All these custom looks. Oh gosh can you really wiggle around in that like oh can you wiggle to the tom consoles. Also explain to me. How on earth did they pick up. Did they sort out this. You know line for the comedy roast. Where literally didn't do anyone a disservice like it was like the nicest or ever fair. Yeah that's wild especially because we just had like the uk's to ellie diamond braun. Trevor see how good she learned. I think they learned from what happened in the uk because they'd already filmed it somehow by osmosis and we're gonna make to people in charge of the order so that it's not just one person shall have the same storyline because it just about whole. Uk storyline with that light. Like so for me. That was just like mind blowing. That became such thing because he dragged her over the coals for it. Lord cheney was like you are a murderer this mentor route. Michelle elliott note. Like you did dollar fine. That wasn't a bad move. On your part how cleanser in comparison is we. It just felt very low drama and like just right to it okay. It was nice bowel cancer. But what i wanted to say. Is that like okay. So you can play dirty on these reality tv shows but should you because on in this version. It's like no. Let's just set up a nice order for the frigging comedy challenge and then girls like. Why don't you just do your best. Because that's what they did yemen. You know the result was a better comedy challenge toni. It made it made the whole thing more solid. And i'm of the opinion. i mean. look. I'm not going to get into that draw. That happened but i think the opinion that like. I don't like it when i don't like it when people are set up to fail. I like it when the queen's just like get to do the challenge and then either you know they're crazy and they can't do it really well because like the scandal can overshadow the content and i wanted to content. I wanna i. I've said this before. Drag race is an amateur. Tv show searching for professionals to show their profession their show their skills and when they do things professionally on the show. They win so we're looking for professionals. We're not looking for amateur hour and we did see a lot of professionals today. Nobody got to have the excuse of like. I got screwed. That's the thing like the older ever really mess anyone up in the fast like in the drag race history. It's like if you wanna use that as an excuse like you do you. Jokes jokes aren't funny. Because you did it fast. If the jokes and a grossed arose challenge is about being in the moment and like holding. Everyone's attention you know like it's it's very it's very hot and this was actually. This was actually a really great demonstration. About how the judges aren't actually trying to mess them up when they give them advice a lot of times they're trying to stir the pot a little bit. But like i mean. I thought michelle and lonnie were so like honest hauled in like they were giving them like actual advice like do this. Don't do this do the i was like. If i got mad. I would have been able to crank out something funny. You know i mean not that. I'm on the show was like i was like. Oh they're right but yes but flag red flags yes they helped edit if a queen who was already good at it was doing too much and they helped like got believe that. Got me to do this and it worked really well so i feel like i feel like i'm just putting on a front 'cause she was just so natural i was like i was like. I don't think away totally that. It's this like oh me. I'm good at all and it's like colonel. Yeah yeah it was i. I think it was definitely. She was playing game because at the beginning when roseanne county will picking the like going to put county fairs. And then we're going to put rose. And i'm going to put gothic in the middle as well got mix over there saying like she's gonna get you like. How did you know condie. How did you know she used. Also with the paris hilton thing like was so great as payroll. And i'm like i'm like no you're pretty funny and especially because her testimonials which i guess you can't see if you're on the show got make is the comedy queen at these testimonials. She's like she's like no. That's not a good look at it because she is so herself.

"Back and Gloria whole asti. Can we get a whole story of gore. Oh we certainly can ready. We're back for the only new episode of drag race this week and utica was saved in the my humps lip sync with tina burner going home because apparently the show wanted to get rid of her even though some other queens did much worse at least this time utica jumps from grief to ambition very quickly and the dolls de drag on the new day in the workroom. We're down to six queens and we get one of the best many challenges yet one queen as a face and one is the arms in a blind improvise. Make over the stunning president of dossier beverly hills nor vena serves as judge. I hope she gets on season fourteen because she is so gorgeous. Everyone was funny but rosa and candy rightfully win. They were and every team made the smart choice to have the funnier person. Be the speaking role they'll be choosing the order for the maxi challenge. The dreaded roped thinking about doing this challenge makes me queasy roaster hard enough but they have to go after three. Miss congeniality is from the past. Hoti and closet nina west and valentina echo. A fan favorite. Can't he chooses go first so she doesn't have to worry about repeat material and rosa takes a risk in deciding to close. That's the hard way. But maybe these queens like it rav. The coaching scenes are fun. Some get it some. Don't but i gotta say. Utica was full on cringe. This was way way off. Mark and mean-spirited. I know it's confusing but roasts only work because they are backed up by genuine love and respect on the main stage. Rupaul was found guilty of murder after killing everyone with them leads in her stoned. Black bodysuit with tool ruffle. It's so nice nina valentin. Heidi are all in the room. Especially because an audience isn't can't be kills it. Simone learns that personality doesn't matter if you don't have punch lines utica makes me cringe again. And the biggest laugh in her set was from loaning lonnie love roasting her got mic. Gets the show back on track. Thank goodness olivia has some good zingers but not a lot of steam. Rosa looks freakin incredible and her jokes are just fantastic. Candy gets her first. Win and everyone celebrates it'll be okay with it because it's nice to see and rose as already had some winds simone in utica are up for elimination and it feels right not rigged. They both kind of serve it. But i'm ready for you to go. And i get my way with that. Were dan were final. Five queens will soon be cringing a lot less. And that's the whole story just a little recap to put a pep in our step. Might whole feels great. now we're always serving great holes. Okay well thank you for getting back in the groove of the honestly Yeah tina burner. Tina brown or whatever. And that's the thing. Yeah she had a lot of really bad runways. But i didn't expect her to go home. That episode weird. It was weird it was like basically production. We have nothing left to do to you. Please get out of this like totally. Yeah they like they're like we do not care goodbye. So i make sense of this because i want someone to be able to explain to me because delusions because this is basically the theme of the whole episode. Good luck out the therapists. I'm just going to go through the list of things so one utica thinks tina shouldn't have gone home. So this is not delusional. She felt so good to lip sync. Right which is what most people think about when they lip sing then she also thinks now that she's a lip sync assassin. You can't call yourself ellipse in because it must be given to you. Yeah now the only thing that brought me back to earth was candy in that moment because she was like not gonna tell you did a good one sake. Yeah yeah the leader of the show calling it out. This is very like elliott diamond. Like how did you think i did. And everyone's like love you. I i have to admit like i s- ton utica like i is completely in a different world and on the plane and i love that for her and i kind of i do get what you say like. It's it's fun to lip sync. But also i think she just plays into the cookie as well because it gets you the screen. Time butts the real. That's the real drank. That's what saved her. Yeah she was so interesting. That rupaul wanted to keep her around like well. I've i've had a couple of friends like this. And i don't want to diagnose or something but i have a couple of friends who are a little bitty and especially like the friends who like are always been like they've always there in touch with their inner rebel there naturally funny creatives. They don't think their minds. Don't work in like regular boxes right and The and they have like a big personality and when they're confronted with something that is constraining that instead of like responding to criticism their reaction actually is to double down on that behavior. You tell them to be quiet to get louder you tell them focused they start freaking out and i feel like it's a defense mechanism but it's also a reaction to like trying to stifle this part of them and i sense that with utica it's like in the face of being awkward and weird. It's like she just can't stop herself it. It must be hard though. Like i think as a someone who has big penalty like utica. It's probably like this weird juxtaposition of like i want two hundred percent myself. And that's why we're gonna celebrate me but then also like trying to quiet yourself down is gonna kind of painful because you can kind of you can kind of imagine. She was like we kate. And maybe you should be more normal. Why would you not like reject that. I'm just going to be mississippi. Weird one hundred percent of the time i applaud. I think she's one hundred percent self. And i like it a five. Maybe i'm blinded by sometimes it. Is those very specific queens Her who will resist critiques. Like that and unfortunately on the show. It plays out like oh. She's not listening button. She's hearing she's hearing it. She's just like well. But i gotta stay true to what i'm doing and you know it has saved her in the competition as we see so worth to it. Yeah and here's the thing she's a visual genius you can't you can't take.

Try and replicate accurately long incorrect. All of the one sentence we're gonna have a different region each word to say well welcome. Welcome both of you. I'm so happy to have you here. I mean we are. We are blessed with your presence. How how are things today. it's a. It's a saturday we're working. We're just we're just getting on with things. Yeah it's all good. I'm already seeing like some beautiful patterns behind you. That may be nothing that maybe something. What what is this. Yeah this this is a commission on working on queen yet behind the scenes even the listeners. At home won't see it. They'll never see it but it's beautiful. I mean okay very cool. Let's long brown dress star work in my bedroom. Everyone comments on it but like no one gets to see it. So let's let's really get into this. So i don't know how to pronounce this but oh rain. Net overnight net overnight. Net net is the ashen brand fashion house. We say but it's me is the fashion persona phillip brown and he can tell about it better than i can get. Maybe i don't really know what doing so it's it's kind of creative outlet. I studied fashion design at university like a long time ago and over nets being kind of bubbling away under the surface for a few years. And then when i moved to brighton of really overtired shafts never have seen him but maybe maybe he cooked i. I'm of that that you have gone to whatever anyway. Total side now. Everyone ends from brighton. Like everyone ends up in brighton. Gorgeous gorgeous it is. It's it's a super cute city. And i moved like three years ago or something and was just can just had like a nine to five job and then on the grinder met. I met a guy who is a good friend who happens to drag and and then one day he said you want to make a costume and then i did and it just kind of from there and then just i that yeah now. It's a it's a bare full time job. And i'm not surprised that once you started making staff it probably went wild because your work is so unique. I have to say that from the very debut of uk's drag race. We looked at sisters outfit with the blue lips. And the you know because it's it was so cool because it was like it was. It was basically like a curtain from wrong. It's like it's like a rectangular dress. There's no silhouette but bet like the lips were so beautifully done and the texture was great and the color was on point. It was so unique that like literally we looked at system and like. Oh my god like yes. I want to know everything about his drag queen. Talk about amazing. Yeah this is where the bar is being set. We're so ready for like the most epic experience ever. I mean obviously sisters great but like it was the dress like we were like this tastes level is it was. It was crazy. It was super fun. Like i had no idea that that was going to be the promo look like came to me and i think that was the second thing that i met for her. And she's like. Oh i wanna i wanna be a big blue blue all. I was kind of like okay. Let's a thirty one. And then i mean it it. It was a lot like. I never made anything kind of crazy. Four am but attent well and off to give a shout out to the. Because i didn't do the lips and that system knows called the quick who can find on inscribed who is a maker and like so good socie- so reveal day and the the night with forces said like. Oh like keep an eye out. Tomorrow morning i woke up. And i was like oh my god like warmly that you didn't even know i had no idea and there. She wasn't all of her blue. Obi goodness blueberry gorgeous yeah no but it was so good. And so i remember as like a blah as like a rectangle but it's just a blog like it's like almost circular but it's like it's just there's no silhouette and yet it is gorgeous. I like it that that to me is like this is a good garment because it has it has defines a logic of what is pretty. It's just great so silly. It's just so silly..

"I'm referencing high. Because recently i took a quiz on a social media website. From england called the tab and they cleaned better was a alaska catchphrase and it is but they were like queen responsible for this catchphrase and was actually. I used by on jain orangina. Yeah so it makes sense. It's a little rude. i can have got it wrong. Then i'll ever got a. I mean i thought that was alaska but everyone does. It's a common misconception common misconception because even alaska will say that she got on china and john also referring to it's just it's something that drag queens were saying and so she did it on the show got it so they did well. Yeah i see yeah. Everything's a reference. Welcome to drag now. Nick question for you. What's what is it please. Yeah so turning over a new leaf. Well what was funny to that candy question. Because she'd never heard it before rosie didn't explain it super well. Oh my god. I don't know if at this concept thing over a new leaf it to mean become new like a new leaf grows. Now i'm gonna try and do this in a succinct of burn. Leaves die right. You know every fall these fall off the tree and you grow a new one when you turn over a new leaf. It means that you get a fresh start. Yeah and for some this. I mean this is where reading a lot of literature will give you some of these older idiomatic phrases. That are very common in english vernacular And it's clearly something that candy has not done. I'm not saying that you can't read. I'm just saying that like this. Look freeze that is common in a lot of like nineteenth century. It's become a common colloquialism anyway. Because of that yeah but turning a new leaf is one of those things you would have known if you had been exposed to that sort of literature and it's very very apparent people were like wait. You've never heard that before is. Everyone has read more like that. She just had never heard that phrase and quote 'cause like if you have a leaf and you turn it. It's the same league funny. This is why candy. She's fun to have around congeniality but she's something fan favorites. Oh my god. God love her so this this first their first week with just one drag race and cited just a walk in the park this time. This episode is a labor of love because so many things went wrong before writing. But we have. We have to fantastic guests for you you. It's seeks to support encouraged drag expression and honestly people get into a net. I'm i don't wanna call him the next diego montoya. But i'm gonna say that we haven't seen the last of philip brown If you were impressed by any of sisters looks. It was probably something philip made. It was a good collaboration. But i think for sure. I think that philip is a mind to be reckoned with when it comes to drag looks and everyone needs to get his digits nan. Commission some work. Because it's it's what we need. Get to it. We have we have a friend. We have a friend. My dear sweet john mcnamara and we used to be. We used to do improv together. We started at the same time. Of course, you're complicit when you don't mentioned things that people say before. But I think that's what we get back to that fraternization. I also wrote this book when you realize all the things that are happening in the NFL, and how people are standing up or not standing up, and whatever your take is on that. I think that you know, that team was famous for saying inappropriate things at inappropriate times. I call out Lenny in my book for an inappropr-. Comment I heard of before this game. And and I think that, you know, visceral reaction that the Mook that Lenny's had I don't know where that comes from. Maybe it comes from. He's a changed person doesn't think like that anymore.
