"So seem heads hang tight. We'll get some great hardcore baseball talk with the biggest steaks of all for the Dodgers and the Rays. Biggest game of the baseball season to date, Of course. Biggest game maybe for Jimmy G with regards to a litmus test, right? Obviously played in the Super Bowl. We know that but what could have been is what New England Nation Pats nation. Goring had we kept Jimmy G obviously wouldn't have Cam Newton that would have meant Tom Brady probably would have left a year earlier. All those things are swirling. So we're simply asking you today on the Dr Pepper. Call in line hit us up. Call us a date, Say ESPN 887293776, or if you're out and about you just got the phone Onya whip out the phone. Get to our Twitter feed at Ki Jae and ze question is pretty simple. Do you want? Cam or Jimmy G? The guy you got, or the guy ahead. The Pats need came to get into the on their offense to get into the zone. Getting his owners brought to you by AutoZone getting his own AutoZone key. Let's get your thoughts on that first, and then once again call us up. Tweet us. We'll get your thoughts on the air Key. Jimmy G can. Who would you prefer? I can healthy Cam Newton is who I prefer. I think that, you know, obviously replacing the greatest quarterback the New England Patriots have ever seen in Tom Brady is always going to be tough, no matter who you are, So they're going to judge you based on even if they even if they know it's not fair to going to try to judge you. Based on Tom Brady's record and his Super Bowls. Look, Cam Newton tried to play in a game with basic zero practice after sitting out because of the covert positive test 13 days, 13 days, any had a bad football game, he would be the first to tell you as he said. Better days are ahead when you look at it, though. Jimmy G play Great last week if the New England Patriots have Bill Belichick wanted Jimmy G to take over at some point, regardless if the franchise tag was coming, and they would have had to pay him $30 million, or whatever the case is, if they really wanted him. That bad. To take over. For Tom Brady. What kept you. Captain. Do you look back? If you Bill Belichick and say to yourself? You know if I just had to me, G. I wouldn't have had to go out in draft Jared Stian, um or find Cam Newton and sign him. I would have my quarterback in play. Clearly he didn't feel that way about Jimmy G at the time because Tom Brady's future was coming to a close for the New England Patriots at some point Where there was last year. Two years from now, it was going to at some point in. And if you have your heir parent that's there much like the Green Bay Packers deal with bread for or the Sam Cisco 40 Niners deal with Joe Montana. All legends in on there are in the organizations that want Super Bowl. Sure, they moved on Montana moved on the Kansas City. Steve Young takes over Brett Farve moves on to the Jets. And Roger's takes over its You could point to those examples and say, Well, they could have done that with Tom that they felt that that Jimmy G was the guy clearly they didn't feel that way. No question about it. And look if you contrary. Ade Joe Montana, you can trade bread. Farve, you, Khun certainly treat Jimmy Garoppolo one quick note. A look back at how that picket was a second round pick. People woke up in the morning and said, Wait a minute. They just trade Jimmy G for a loan. Second round pick, John Lynch picked up the phone Lynch. It always joked over the years he picked up the phone and said, Hey, Bill, hey, is Tom available, and I know I just had to kick the tires. What you know, Time's a big hairy guy is, Ah, Is Jimmy G available And there's a lot of people that believe why did Belichick got just a second round pick while the Pats turned it into seven total players eventually, most notably, eventually getting Jared's didn't have many thought was the heir apparent will wait to see Be on that there was also a lot of people that thought that he picked up the phone to call John Lynch. John Lynch had played for Mike Shanahan in Denver, like Shannon is one of the very few coaches that has gotten over on Bill Belichick. More than a lot of other people, and many people thought there was just a relationship there. The relationship with Kyle, his son, All of that made it happen. And there was a lot more to the trade than just satisfying. Tom Brady. You can't argue with Bill Belichick CE record of moving on from players. That play for him in terms of trades. I mean, Richard Seymour probably gave a blue too early for Richard Seymour because he turned into B, an all pro for the Raiders at the time when they went okay. But if you start to look at some of the other players, whether it was a Drew Bledsoe or lawyer Malloy or whether it was a Deon branch, I mean, he got something. For those guys and they were different players and they were under him in New England. I mean, you can't argue with that, right? So when he decides that he's moving on from This particular player. And you say to yourself Well, why would he do it? He's young. He's great. He's this. Did the 40 Niners really get their franchise quarterback because after training for him, they started flirting with Tom Brady, right, And there's also some stories isn't possible that if things don't work out with camp since he's John one year deal the possibility of Jimmy G, returning to New England next year that's only floated because he hasn't satisfied many fans in San Francisco this year. Despite that Super Bowl in Cam hasn't satisfied many fans. In Boston area as well based on the two and three start, but he's play well. Other than this past game, I would take the previous games he's played in and say, Okay, if he gets he wins the division, he gets them to the playoffs..

"One Super Bowl Week live from Miami is just two weeks away by the way I was reading a story yesterday. Joe You know how sometimes you know. Most of the cities is that deserve pro teams. Have them but I always felt vegas was uniquely capable of having an NFL team angry A in the winter. Your weather's pretty good so if you're that you put you know the raiders a Denver Fan or a Kansas City fan in in December with love do the road trip to Las Vegas Raiders yesterday. I think it's the last place in America that didn't have a pro like major pro team. It's going to be a home run raiders. I have now officially sold out all their. PSL's all the tickets for the raiders are selling out. This is generally over the last fifteen years. We've kind of Wedge Baseball the Miami me you know. Nobody wants to play outside in Miami in the summer. There's been a lot of these like Jacksonville. NFL you're like New Orleans. NBA Didn't really work the first time we kind of wedge teams in the. I think you could take four teams out of every league and everybody be fine. You know the the warm weather hockey experiment experiment hasn't been great. Right Raiders in Vegas the ticket sales through the roof. Yeah that doesn't surprise me at all. I think people have this idea Vegas because biggest and for the most part it's earned it is whilst Vegas but we hockey team there. They had the the local support instantly and people love Vegas for La. It's so easy you can give her literally a day trip. Fly to two minute flight from where I sit. Yeah Yeah Till Vegas. And there's there's one every single out assault legs close phoenix. LA's closed every San Francisco. Everything's our flight so teams there. Sixty sixty percents of the tickets for the raiders were sold in Nevada residents forty percent were sold for people out of the state and there's so many casinos. They're like they're all going to have boxes. Fox's high rollers that place is going to be. It's not going to be the black hole but it's going to be a very unique experience. Good stuff let's go NBC. Sports Peter King the Cower Global Satellite Network brought to you by Mercedes Benz the best or nothing You know it's interesting. I think when you get to the end of the year ear. Coaching is really significant Last year we had Bella check and Sean Payton and McVeigh. An- Andy Reid. And here's the thing I know. Green Bay is fourteen and three with Matt Leflore Peter. They have not been a good team after half. They've been very good on script as many any. Young coaches are the numbers. Aaron Rodgers in completion percentage passer rating have. Come down at tick. Mike McCarthy clearly clearly is capable cowboys. Think so I don't know I look at these. Four teams laughed is Matt Leflore proven yet. Like what do we know. And what don't we know about him. Well I I I would. I would answer that in this way when you have a quarterback who in the last five minutes of a game has has crucial third and ten thirty nine thirty eight and he converts everyone two of them with absolute mm salute beautiful pinpoint passes down the field. Coaching is important. But I sat with Matt Aflou for ten ten ten minutes or so after last week's game and he realizes that when you have a quarterback Aaron Rodgers who can perform warm as well down the stretch. You know that that helps you be a much better coach because Colin think about this. If any one of those three passes are incomplete down the stretch. Oh Yeah you're gonNA give Russell Russell Wilson the ball back with more than two minutes left and at least two timeouts left and down by five points. I mean I don't know about you. But I'll take Russell Wilson in that case you know Danny read. I supported Andy Reid today. I said you know Andy Reid was in the NFC. Any lost to Kurt Warner a couple of times. Aaron Rodgers Super Bowl winning team and breeze reason New Orleans The buccaneer defense in two thousand and two the greatest show on turf and he was doing it with Jeff Garcia Donovan. mcnabb Michael Vick. Then he goes to Kansas City with Alex Smith Andrew Luck and he's losing to Tom Brady a couple times. He lost a big Ben. I'm not saying he'd never couple ugly losses in between but he was at a cornerback quarterback deficit in most of his playoff losses sometimes as substantial deficit. It all changes this weekend. This is the first time. And I love Andy Reid that if he lost this weekend it feels like you could drop the hammer a little on him about the playoffs stuff. Is that fair to you. Well you you know what I always say when people say Andy Reid can't win the big one And Look in last year was just one more example. You know you you're ear at home in the AFC championship game. You know what I say is you know. Let's let each team get a shot at having the ball instead ahead of let a coin flip decide. Who's going to get the ball first and quite honestly I mean if Kansas City got the ball first does anybody doubt Patrick Mahomes in that situation after ripping up the Patriots series after series is anybody? Does anybody doubt that that that mahomes would've gone linked to the field and who would you have liked the super bowl. Would you have liked Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes or would you have liked Sean. mcvay Jared Goff. I know who I wanna like so again. I get that narrative but I'm not in love with it. I mean. Look if he makes a a bill. O'Brien fake punt call from his own twenty one up seventeen points and fourth in four. Well then I might drop the the hammer on them. Yeah but let's see what happens in the game. I before we we sort of project what the story line is. It does feel like to me. You know you have one offs the rams maybe a one off or a team as a great year gets to a super bowl but it does feel like to me if you look at the historic dynasties Steve. The more people are aligned. Kobe and Shaq in the end. We're not aligned. You only got three titles pippen and MJ wanted the same thing If you look at Brady and Bella check wanted the same thing I look at Kansas City with read and Patrick mahomes very selfless very giving I think. They both want to be considered Alzheimer's it does feel like to me. I don't think I'm hyperbolic here. We just saw dynasty end and I can see the next one coming in Kansas City where the current rules of the NFL are built for. Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes is that that seemed to hyper or you. Send it to this. Kansas City thing is at ten year play. Well I'll just say this. The one thing I remember talking to Andy Reid about his late in his Philadelphia tenure. I remember saying to him. I said you know the interesting thing about your career is that there's very very few teams is in the NFL. Who can say that the week that they go to training camp last week of July when you go to training camp you know? It's not just a feeling feeling or a hope. But you know that you've got a very good chance of playing deep into January and Andy Reed's teams always did now that. He has mahomes every year when he goes to training camp. He's going to know that if our defense is good enough we could play deep into January and if everything goes right we could play the first week of February two. But there's a very big butts in there and that is if you spend so much money so much money on your offense on your quarterback on his weapons on your line is they're going to be enough to build consistently great defense very fair or I should say maybe top ten defenses. And that's my that would be my only asterisk but as long as you got mahomes you should have a chance to play deep into every g and by the way that's very fair. We talk to Nick Right. Who's from Kansas City Star? Panic quarterback thirty nine million dollars. They the at some point you lose your second best receiver and your second best offensive tackle and your second best pass rusher in your good not special. Let's go back to Green Bay San Francisco. Listen I love love. John Lynch I covered him in Tampa. It was my last. NFL beat He worked at Fox. Are you surprised at the Shanahan John. On Lynch Combo Garoppolo thing has worked to this level. This quickly no. I'm not surprised because I think first of all. The cupboard was not completely bare when they took over they had a good base of talent on the defensive line that they have they have obviously added to you know with Thomas and boasts in particular particular Bosa and also getting Deformed I think don't forget what happens to you if we've got a really good defensive front which they do and a quarterback who keeps you in every single game and those are the two things they have and they. We're very conscious of and look I. I'll always think and I want to know the story one day and I think maybe bill belichick Kyle Shanahan manner. John Lynch you know twenty years after they retire one of them is going to say. Here's the real story behind the GAROPPOLO trade. You know because I'd I'd like to know how Garoppolo for to make sense in this climate where I believe that teams like Cleveland would have paid more. belichick seemed to want Garoppolo to go to a place where he would have a chance. Not a place where he would die in quicksand every year. By the way I I one of the things I notice about sports and I've always been fascinated that for instance in the NBA. Everybody now shoots threes which is now opening up the mid range the jumper. Because nobody defends it so Colli Leonard and Chris Paul or having great seasons it's cyclical in the NFL. Over the last six to seven years the rules legislated related have made it more of a passing league but in the last year the niners are actually a power running team. Tennessee's power running team and and so I think his teams have drafted more perimeter players faster linebackers smaller linebackers for this passing league to be a linebacker in space. It's it's opening the door for the titans. Like when I look at San Francisco actually see a running team. How about you absolutely? It's it's not only that you see a running team. But at the beginning of the year they're big weakness was no consistent deep threat but I think the thing they do have. You're absolutely right. They went into training. Camp is here with four real high quality running backs and you know. They've lost two of them due the injury for much of the year. But the other thing you have to remember Colin and this goes to your praise of John Lynch John Lynch and his personnel L. Director Adam Peters in two thousand seventeen in the fifth round they had a need for a developmental tight end K and they look at this.

"Gotta say cousin he's a money layer man. Eighty dollars. You get him any game in November. Who knows you get him in the playoffs and the finals. You put the money on the table, and he rises to the occasion, you get so many shots. So to be fair. They're ganging up on curry. Yeah, but he's a pretty good at it. I mean nine fifteen I'll take that three of six from beyond the arc twenty two weeks in his mid thirties. He's playing hawking D on Koa leonardy basically held Leonard, too. You know, he played them straight up Leonard's MVP of the series, one of the three or four best players in the world. I you know, Iggy dolla, you know, guys money. I'm thinking about cousins, I'm looking at his line last night. And like I said he you know he came through especially with looney being banged up and guys bogut played three minutes. So, you know cousins but when I'm watching him on the floor. And maybe I'm looking at too much body language. I don't know if he's good enough, Larry that now he says, hey, used me how you wanna use me and I'll play twenty. Minutes a game or fifteen minutes a game and I'll give you all I got great. Then maybe I bring him back, but if he really wants if he said, hey, man, I gotta get my numbers and if he's, you know, kind of a sideline bitter. I don't know if I want him back Southern Water a bitch or complaining a little bit all the time. Well, I didn't get this or this. I mean there are guys, I, I would put up with. I don't know if I'd put up with, with him, and that, that's going to be interesting to see if they bring him back as I he's a four time all star is an awesome player, but they have to live with them every day in. And if they decide they don't like them, then they'll, they'll partway. He's not good enough to have to company attitude at this stage, but they need him care. They're gonna need points. I mean they've forty percent of your offense for next year. Evaporated in this final series Durant with Durant, and Klay going down. So you need points, everywhere you can everywhere you can find him now if boogies is negative. The scenes and kiss them off and get down the road. Pensively I first of all, I also don't think that it's fair to evaluate to Marcus on what he did this year because he's coming off this injury that he's the, you know, the quad thing he comes back for the finals. I, I was impressed by his his passing his basketball IQ now the players said they love them. We're going to find out we're going to find out if the organization loves them, we're going to find out what kind of market he has. Pecking order netter next year than what he was exactly. And when I say, you know, bitching, and moaning and all that I have no idea. I'm reading the body language and you'd see some quotes that he wasn't happy with, with some of the playing time and all that. I thought he played really well considering he was hurt, but I think loonies moved ahead of them in the pecking order. That's what I mean. And that they may lose looney. Yeah, they may lose the washes made them badness debate decision on looney. They picked up the option on the fifth year. They didn't they would have had a restricted free agent with the right to match. Instead, they don't have an unrestricted free agent who could get offered anything. They do own his bird rights, so they have the right to match, but there's a price tag that they, I'm sure we'll, you know that a total, they will assigned to him. And if he exceeds that total and it's probably going to be, you know, somewhere between I would think four and five million dollars. He could get. I asked Bobby marks about looney says he could get a market that goes six seven million dollars. So if that happens he may he may be too pricey for them. And I should amend the, the comments on cousins, if he can get some lift, you know, any better physically next year. Yeah. I guess so. But I'm saying what I saw this year. If he does, you know if he's not satisfied with maybe some games played. Paying less than others. I don't know if I well, we'll see bottom line without Thompson without Durant. You're right. They got to have somebody score points, but I don't know. We'll have to see. I don't I don't think let's put it this way. If he came back roughly the same way that he played this year. I don't know if it's worth it, I'd rather go for younger guy. You're looking at your five you may lose looney and free agency bogut. I'm told is going back to Australia cousins is, you know, we'll see what, what is offers are Sharib co you know, if he's a I he may not be back. Bells restricted free agent if they want him to be they may trade him. They make kick him to the curb, some, I'm just saying they're very well, if you decided in the in the in the pivot, but I'd rather have looney without question than DeMarcus. I mean Loayza real team guy, play, what he showed here. And again, the thing that maybe it's going to slowly go away, but he did play hurt you know now. I don't know how much he plays heard is going to get great hands. He's a defender on the pick and roll. He's, he's got incredible link. You don't realize it. He's a shot blocker. He's I, I think there's more game there with looney. I saw him at UCLA has got a real nice face up game from about eighteen in and you know we he hasn't he's not taking those shots right now. But a year or two from now, I think he could be taking and making those should you think about this when you're watching the game. And and Thompson goes out that screwed. Well, obviously, he's over. No. Were you thinking that he was going to go back in? Let's say he went in and said, and they diagnosed it, it's not that serious. Where did he go back in Gary, he told Steve Kerr two minutes? So I know. Go warriors. The question is with the warriors have put him back on the floor. If he had wanted to be there. Yeah. If they didn't think he tours ACL, maybe. Yeah. But obviously, that's what I know. The doctor can do where you have moving. He they sometimes they can tell by just touching the need. You know, if there's been something torn I you know, I'm not a doctor. Iran stuff. Would you. That'd be very tough decision to say you're okay. Yeah. Go back out the tough one. That's a tough one. It is a tough. Yeah. By the way, the report, I kept teasing the raptors president. What a weird time for him. This guy's being hailed as, as one of the great executives going. The wizards won him. He built the an NBA champion with no lottery picks and eight guys on the roster from round two or undrafted, but he was involved in an altercation with a sheriff's deputy moments after Toronto got the win last night now, this, according to NBC bay area, and the Alameda County sheriff's office, but a man believed to be messiah usury reportedly pushed in, quote struck the officer quote in the face close quote what trying to get onto the floor shortly after the final buzzer last night. The report says that the deputy denied the raptors executive access to the floor because quote, he didn't have proper credentials. Now, there's a video published by NBC bay area that shows messiah usury involved in what appears to be an altercation with an officer or. Security personnel person in the clip, it appears that use in an officer of being separated during an argument near the court Yeary, eventually makes his way onto the floor where he's grabbed and hugged by Kyle Lowry. And according to the sheriff support the sheriff's office and the Oakland police department are investigating the incident as a misdemeanor battery on an officer and they're working it says the spokesman Ray Kelly said, we're working with the Oakland police department to file a report in contact witnesses and review video. So, you know, this is this is obviously an unfortunate situation with officers, you know, doing you can look at it both ways officers obviously doing his job. You don't have the credential. You're not allowed in the floor. And this guy thinking we just won the world championship. Don't hold me back. I'm not gonna offered part ownership in with Washington for crime many sakes, get your hands off me. And there's all types of things that could get into a higher profile guy who's more wreckage. Sizable, you think every, every executive has the proper credentials? Or sometimes they just say, oh, hey, that John Elway? Let them through. Hey, that's John Lynch. John Lynch Levi's. And then the right credential, doesn't get behind the scenes. They say, hey, that's John Lynch Kemira, John. You know what I'm saying? I mean I just I think that there was a situation where the officer maybe didn't recognize Yeary. I'll leave that. I know any more details. I'll say this the security in these events is high. You know, high security and, you know, these guys could lose their job, if they let people that don't have credentials down. But you can see the dynamic several dynamics that were never be a police officer because if I saw six foot four guy in two thousand or three thousand dollars suit, I would probably think he's, you know, something to do with what's going on there and let him go, right? And that, you know what I mean? I just that's why the, you know, the assailant into the room, Mr. Ed niche. Well he had a. Yeah. Exactly. And those things are about forty feet when. What I'm working security, Larry or bouncing at a club Brooks. Brothers suit that was tripped out. You should've seen his pocket square been looking for a pocket square like that for months. Okay. Yeah. But I, I have a feeling though, that this alot you know, this is going to be okay. Yeah. I don't think he'll be jailed for this. He misses the parade 'cause detain Oakland. All right up into the parade. When is the parade by the no announcement because Drake is taking the team Vegas. And then to Miami, that's you know, go home and celebrate with the fans of people who back Jones fan. Yeah. Monday. That's that's a little bit of a delay now. Okay. Fine party. And then money find. All right. We're looking for something to knock, but Toronto's damn good. And if Leonard stays, you'll be damned good for a while on the sports leader. Gary and Larry on KNB are six eighty the sports leader. Hey giants fans pack your bags. We're headed to Kabo. That's right. Joined the San Francisco Giants in Kabul, San Lucas December third through the eighth as we celebrate thirty years of memories with the.

"So the plan is put out there Christopher buys into the plan and feels like he's got a general manager who's got things somewhat organized move forward with the next coaching staff. So that actually alleviate some of the pressure on Christopher to allow him now to be part of the coaching search and then one atom case fell into his lap. I, I almost felt like this is the perfect personality for Christopher's looking for he, he is with the new unit and the new uniforms are a part of it a quarterback support of it new defensive coordinator with a personality is a part of it, and certainly a head coach, that's got attitude on your face. And that's making decisions it's not afraid to make a decision may not all work out. It may not work out. But at the end of the day he's the guy that's going to be there, every single day, twenty four seven three sixty five eight sleep drinking football all the time and. Is basically going to be pushing everybody. I just don't understand why you don't see how these moves workout this off season. When all we heard was this McCann make big off season with all the money. He can spend third overall pick this draft class. Why not see how it works out before you fire the he watched it, when she didn't see anything on field team goes to the playoffs, and it's might McCain team that he put together then have foolish. Are they going to low? Right. But he's watching it unfold in front of his eyes. And like I said, whether it's unintended or calculated, okay, listen to me, whether it's unintended or calculated I think it's probably unintended because I don't think that Christopher wanted to fire might, but if it's unintended, they are the only team without a GM right now as we speak, and if there is a time in the NFL to be without a GM you have a poor guy. That's cases friend, you're acting like this is going to be some sort of search them worldwide search for general manager. They're going to find a guy that gays wants whether whether there's a million openings or not, they're finding gaces buddy and bringing them in. What does that matter? I'll how about cases buddy had a chance to go somewhere else, and you have to fight swarm try to convince him but guy was available this off season. Didn't get a job duty when all those other ones were open. I remember his name being bandied around that if the band around he didn't get a job expanding white. You know why he didn't get a job because the jets that far Mike mcalinden. Okay. But I mean, the, the idea that like they're now they have oldest pool of candidates they're focusing on one guy gone good for them. If they if the guy if that is the guy. Sure, so immediately. I make some phone calls that to some people who have had a runnings or have worked with Joe. Douglas, I don't think I've ever met him. I might have met him at a Monday night game or two down of Philadelphia. But everybody, the three people that I talked to that I trust the most in the NFL all say that Joe Douglas is a tremendous football guy. He's a tremendous football guy. He's all about football. They call it ball. Now I call it football back when I put we call it football they call it ball. Now he's all. He's all about it knows how to work the system. Know what he's looking for a look what they've done down there in Philadelphia since he left Chicago, and came to Philadelphia. Without we Roseman, and everything that's gone on down there at the success that they've had the players that they've found the drafts that they've had, you know, that's that's you know, that's Adam gazes buddy from his days in Chicago. Yeah, that's his buddy and they're all in sync. Then why wouldn't you hire him here? Here's the thing, why Trump trust and Adam gates. I tell you about the Kansas City model. We're talking about that, John, plenty right? And then we've talked about the Green Bay model with the giants quarterback the model that I think that is happening here in that is unfolding here, does Adam gates model. Well, it's the Adam gay smile. But there's already a model that's out there that hasn't been that successful doing large part to injuries. But I will tell you that they are going to be. They are rising team. They have been rising team. And I think this year they may be a team that's in the thick of the playoff hunt. That haven't been in the thick of the playoff hunt the last couple of years. Do you know what team I'm talking? I do not. It's the San Francisco forty nine okay because you have. Kyle Shanahan gets the job who does he bring with him. You brings John Lynch John Lynch with them as GM, and they both come. They're, they're both in lockstep. They both see bald the same way because they like says all the all see ball the same way. And that's what Adam gates wants. He wants a guy that sees it the way that he sees it, and I could totally understand that from his situation, you don't wanna be jammed down your throat the players that you may not want, or you may not wanna pay for and may cost you a couple two or three other players that you want, and, you know, he ran that roster down there in Miami. So he's familiar with doing that. And I just I wasn't overly shocked. What I was really shocked was like the reaction they fired general manager. So come on. Is it time? Yeah. We gotta take a break tells more about them he doesn't call one play crazy. Come on this because it's never happened. And you had the guy say right on this show after all these rumors are out there. We I said the first question, do what was it like almost get fired? And then Adam gates, two days ago, three days ago on pisses me off that there's a rift between the two of us and then he gets fired and it happened in may. Of course, is going to be reacting. And that's why and that's why Christopher Johnson. I think try to own this yesterday. Try saying this was the least you had the conference call. That was a good thing. He didn't go and hide. All right..

"Course, the safety blitz. Rodney eight coaches have been let go this season. And of course, the black Monday having passed one GM Reggie McKenzie. Of course was like go as well. Wow. Rodney that is one quarter of the entire league has coaching openings vacancies. That's a lot Rodney. I mean my goodness. That was a slaughter in terms of the number of coaches who have been let go around the league. What does that tell you? There's a lot of bad coaches in this league you, and it's a lot of general managers that actually don't know what they're doing that. You know, they they hired these guys and because they're the so called new and hot name. And then they fire them. You know, I I look at Steve wills Arizona Cardinals coaching. Maybe he was in over his head. But how do you give a guy one year you give him one year to come in with a rookie quarterback? They talked a lot of trash and training camp about how great he was. You gotta age receiver who I think is one of the greatest of all time. You don't have a lot of David Johnson's not the same player often Solano's average defense other than Chandler, John. They don't have a lot of like super really good play making guys like how do you fire him? How do you justify fired him after one year with a rookie quarterback? I just I don't get it. I used to be what yet five years then it went down to three years. Now, we're at one year. I mean, really all right. Maybe Steve Wilks was slightly over happy. You know, what he was a rookie head coach a lot of rookie head coaches at time show that maybe a little over their head, and they learn and in year two you start to say, okay, there's either improvement or there's not, and if there's no improvement you start to get concerned, if you're a GM or owner, meanwhile, the gym of that team Steve time had been suspended earlier this year, I severe DUI. I mean, how is it that eight coaches on bad teams get fired yet only one GM pays the price. And by the way, that GM his coach does he get fired because it's Jon Gruden. So how many GM's have gotten away with highway robbery frankly, Rodney in terms of keeping their jobs putting together crappy rosters Cincinnati's roster. Not great jets roster. Not great roster. Not great Denver Tampa Bay the list goes on and on Arizona yet the GM somehow keep their job. Ronnie, I've a problem with that. It's a joke. Man, it it's absolute. A joke, and I look out in Denver, and John Elway me. John Elway has failed. He's failed to get him a quarterback outside of Peyton Manning. And I look at that roster. And it's not very good. You know? Yeah, they had Patrick Lindsay. He comes out. He has an excellent rookie year. He goes to the Plum the Pro Bowl running back. They got to really study defensive ends of court Japan von Miller, one hundred million dollars deal and Bradley Chubb. He's the first round draft choice. But outside of that. They don't have a lot of outstanding talent they trade away. Damaris Thomas, you bring in case keenum. You don't do the things that case does. Well. At the quarterback position. I just like it comes a point in time where you have to look yourself in the mirror and another one that I really felt like was long overdue, and that's Marvin Lewis we've talked about it yet won a playoff game. It's just amazing to me that it's taken so long. It's like it was a comfort level with losing out there. Yeah. Philip Lindsay, by the way, Rodney, but yeah. No, you're right about that. Who is situated you said Patrick on. Sorry. Philip lindsay. All right. That's his brother. Patrick Lindsay, his all these all these damn Maine's. To me. How about this though in Cincinnati? Right. So Marvin Lewis finally, let's go after sixteen years in Owen seven playoff record. Hugh Jackson gets an interview. Why? Why would you and we're not next to each other? When we said exactly why even why even sit there for three hour interview with Hugh Jackson's Alaska at higher. Let me ask you. Maybe maybe this is it is it them complying to the Rooney rule. I was thinking the same thing. But no, I think that still him. Hold on. But you still have to interview an African-American coach, right? Yeah. So that's I mean, he may like them. But I I just and maybe that's that's their comfort level. But I just think there's no chance he's hiring them. I would hope not. But it is a Cincinnati Bengals is a reason why they're nickname for years has been the bungles. Right. They bungle everything. Apparently, Mike Brown's Mike Brown loves Hugh, Jackson loved what he did there as the OC before you went to Cleveland, and apparently they really like him. I'd be stunned if he gets the job, but still I I do I don't think it's a Rooney rule thing. Because if it's a Rooney rule thing, look, there's some qualified assistance out there that are getting some serious consideration. Right. Eric b enemy for instance. People love Eric b enemy that guy. What's his name, Chris Rickard? He's a former teammate of mind. Yes. You watch the chargers. Yeah. People love him. He's he's the next in line under Andy Reid you had Doug Peterson. He goes in wins the SuperBowl Philly, then you had Matt Nagy. Look what he's done in Chicago, the guy who then ascended to that role in a guy that people are very high on the jets. I know have put in a request interview, MS Eric b enemy now people have talked about Eric Vietnamese work ethic. You're a teammate of his do you? Remember anything about art Vietnamese specifically? He was very smart. He was always into details. I mean, he was a hard work in tough guy. I think he'll be perfect for the Tampa Bay job, by the way. Why Tampa Bay I just think that it's kind of a blank canvas because the expectations are so low, and you know, I wouldn't bring James Winston back because I just feel like he's you know, he's had four years to really prove what he can do and people say, well, he's got one more year to prove it like dude he's been there for years. You know, like, he's not very good. I mean, maybe something crazy happens where he turns into this all star quarterback. But Airbnb will be that guy. He'll get in. Jamison Winston face. He'll let them know that creativity to I mean, they have a lot of weapons on offense. They need to shore up some things he'll bring that discipline in there. I think he'll be a perfect fit. But a Tampa Bay Buccaneers. You made a statement on this show, maybe three weeks a month ago. Rodney about who you bring in in right in terms of the candidates. And I've looked at the list of guys getting interviews. Rodney. There is such a lack of true talent. In terms of coaches. You got. The retreads who are getting interviews. Right. Mike McCarthy, for instance, guys like that you have the young guys like Erick, Vietnamese bitter. No see for one year this guy the defensive backs coach with the Dallas Cowboys, Richard whatever Rashard he's getting consideration. Heck cliff Kingsbury, you got fired as Texas Tech head coach. And now he's a US offensive coordinator has multiple interviews. He used to be in a pay with the patriots lose your bay. Three. Yeah. Yeah. That's him. Because the work you do with Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech. You look at the list of guys Ronnie it is stunning. Jim Caldwell getting looks here. And there I mean, how did we get to this point Ronnie where you just don't have a good five or six names of guys? You like, you know, what man those are the guys doing? They don't know what they're doing. It's it's obvious. I mean, you what does Arezzo doing you gotta drunk general manager, you got a guy paid Sam what what's his name? Sam Bradford all this money. I mean, he doesn't know what the heck. He's doing overpaying guys who pays Sam Bradford. And his knees is terrible. Washed up who does that? Steve time. Here's the question for you, though. And it, of course, it's the safety blitz. Rodney Harrison, Dan, Schwartzman, NBC sports radio the first text. I sent after I read this higher was to you. Rodney Jon Gruden hiring. Mike Mayock to be the Oakland Raiders general manager stunned. Yes. And no, yes. Because. Maybe we don't give the TV people enough credit. I mean, you know, Mike knows he knows about the draft. He he'll do a good job of studying the players individual. He can definitely help with personnel. Yeah. I'm a little stunned though. Because I think John could have got went out. And then maybe people maybe John say, look, look what happened to John Lynch. John Lynch came and did a pretty good job on the draft. Brought some players over there. Was able to sign Jimmy Garoppolo. Do you think John Lynch was more qualified than Mike Mayock to be a general manager? That's a good point. No. So I mean, people people are up in arms about this. But at the same time Jon Gruden he's he hired somebody that he's very comfortable with a guy that knows the draft in and out a got it works extremely hard. He's done well on TV. He knows the draft. Those guys can figure out which players are bringing. I I don't think from organizations staff way, Jon Gruden is still going to run the team, you know, anything that he basically decides he's going to make but make might might be that guy that comes in. And and really helps them with personnel. And I think that's the true reason why he was hired. And my last thought on this Rodney is this. Look, they can't screw the strapped up. They have three first round picks. Right. I mean, they made a trade. They got rid Amari Cooper, Khalil Mack. They have three first round picks this year to next year. They have to hit on these picks to justify making those trades. They hit on these picks the rebuild in Oakland. Is sped up fast. You gotta understand. I'm like whether they hit on it or not your expectation level. Even with all the draft choices that they have you. You're probably thinking, okay. What all the draft choices next year. Maybe they they're six and ten. Or maybe they're eight Nate. Expect them to have success. You don't expect them to compete within the division. Because you know. That's the chargers. Kansas City Denver probably gonna you know, prob- probably being at thirteen. So the expectation level was low. So no matter who they go get. I mean, what's success to the to the Oakland Raiders next year? You tell me what success? Six and ten. Okay. Seven and nine that's excess. What were they like four and twelve born twelve. Yeah. You improved by two games. That's that's big. Is that big would the expectation now with what Frank right has done out in Indianapolis. I mean expectation level was like once you get these draft choices you already have your so-called franchise quarterback. We need you to win. Now, we need you at nine and seven ten and six of my day. I know he took over a playoff team already. But look at Frank, right? Look at Matt Nagy look at that. These guys have had eight Nate. I would say, yeah. I mean, if you're on the right direction. You want to be seven to nine and eight right there on the cuss. And you know, of course, maybe a couple of those games you lose by touchdown or field goal. But you have a lot of positive vibes going into next year. Okay. I agree. Seven and nine eight and eight absolutely. I think that would be considered success Filkin raiders before they move. And who knows where I'm going to play those games, by the way, but for the end up moving to Las Vegas and starting up as the Las Vegas raiders. All right. It is wild card weekend. Four big games. We're going to start off the colts in the Texans. Interesting storylines, juicy ones for teams that meet twice a year in the same division. That's next on the safety blitz. "Scotty, you'll get Amy. You'll get Tasmania moves. She'll get DA where I will be with the a back in my normal spot on the other side of the glass tomorrow morning in about twelve hours be bright back here. Of course, Jim Rome, Tiki and Tierney and Bill will be back tomorrow. So they are sticking with CBS sports radio throughout the holidays right now at the old sugarbowl Texas lane and on Georgia's seventeen nothing, and it's it's always hard in the non college football playoff games. Now over the last five years to big programs who you thought may have thoughts themselves deserved. A spot in the playoff. What is their motivation in bowl games and Georgia? You're really make the case Georgia could have been the third best team in the nation. If not the second best team in the nation, depending on your thoughts on Clemson. And they went toe to toe with Alabama damn should've won that game in the SEC title game. They miss out on the playoff because you know, we have to balance this out with four teams and opportu SEC teams in and here they are not being in the playoff and getting a butts kicked by taxes. Same Texas team that Oklahoma did beat in the big twelve championship game. So hot take tomorrow morning. If this continues in Georgia's driving right now, if Texas blows the doors off Georgia, the take will be while look George approved. They didn't blowing the college football playoff easy. It's hard for me to to this team down seventeen. Nothing was super focused about playing in the sugarbowl time. Have a hard time thinking that Jacob is in Boston. Jacob you're on CBS sports radio. Big fan. Appreciate you have appreciated. Jacob. What's up, man? I think the Steelers have so much potential that they blew they have some assets. Maybe on Dow. On the ground. Jim Connor, you know, the front office it plays happy. It gotta mix up the front office. Not the place for the front office. I mean, fair enough the front office puts them together. I I don't mind clean, clean house and everything. Start a new in Pittsburgh promised. Pittsburgh. You see how many head coaches they've had Chuck all not many. Coward Tomlin were there. Forever. Mason in South Carolina. Mason, you're on CBS sports radio. Radio. Yeah. Mason you're on with us. Goodbye on with the radio people or whatever they called. So Mason had to say was that was nice. What a nice call that was for Mason. I look I t's is raider segment. The raiders have been a joke all season. And frankly, the the fact that the fans on Christmas Eve and Oakland had no idea whether or not that was actually going to be the last time, they see the raiders in the Coliseum was another choke. The franchise top to bottom has mistreated their fans. To certain extent, mistreated star players Jon Gruden got a lot to do with that with letting Khalil Mack. They brought Jon Gruden on the hopes and promises of the glory years of the rich Gannon past. NFL on deaf ears this year. I mean, the readers in Jon Gruden borough were a mess, a total mess catastrophe. They got older and free agency were every GM. And every coach knows you need to sign guys either going into their prime or just fill out the roster later veterans, but no they signed Doug Martin backup. Marshawn Lynch to geezers at running backs. They signed Jordy Nelson when dubbing Michael Crabtree not like crepes young anymore, but they got older wide receiver more decrepit. Their outfits of line wasn't as good as it's been and fans in Oakland clinging onto two years ago. They think they're going to be the next team that beat the pats. Derek Carr are now left with skeletons with dinosaurs on that roster and coach who thinks he's coaching in two thousand and two thousand nineteen nothing innovative at all about Jon Gruden and the season went down. The tubes are a mess, and nobody knows what they're gonna do in the traffic. And maybe they draft the Dwayne Haskins. Say goodbye to Derek car who knows a train Amari Cooper. They single handedly turned the Cowboys at bears in the division winners by giving up. Amaury Cooper Khalil Mack and the raiders left twiddling your thumbs. But the raiders were in a baris- -ment this year. And they deserve every lack every lick every ounce of criticism. They get. But I thought they did something interesting this week. The hard make Mike Mayock NFL networks draft analyst ref kingpin to be the general manager. And of course, because the raiders get made fun of for everything the raiders do, and rightfully so I understand they were mocked it this I couldn't turn on the radio yesterday and New Year's Eve on black Monday and not hear about what the heck are the raiders doing higher make Mike Mayock? And I just found felt there were so shortsighted by many in the fans to to bash them of all the things the raiders have done. This is the least that should be mocked. Well, two reasons number one, it's not as if they put Mike Mayock had a thin air. It was only a year ago and before the two years ago, Mike be name has been floated as a general manager candidate for the last two years for teams. I just did a simple Google search the Washington Redskins. We're looking to hire them last year. And never got that forty never got higher. But this wasn't like we're pulling air. This is what has been discussed. This is what Mike may ex wanted to do is put himself out there. He schmoozed enough. That was a side note the raiders requested to speak with Jerry Reese giant SuperBowl winning general manager, he declined. If you are somebody who is a credible. General manager has been the NFL before why would you take the raider job right now knowing what Jon Gruden has done with his own power there. That's not an enticing second general manager job. If you've already had one that sounds like a death sentence. If you've already had one where you know, there's no coming back from it. If that's your second stint as a general manager, Jerry Reese, but for a guy who was tried to be a general manager. He's had teams interested in him. That's a no brainer. At some point. You gotta you are in a position where there's only thirty two of those jobs new one of them, and you've been passed over for a couple years because of your lack of experience, you gotta take it. So if the raiders weren't higher in Mike Mayock who were they hired. Whatever they would have hired would have been a bigger disaster. Now people want to say, well, he's an he's a TV analyst. What does the TV analysts know about running a team? That's funny. Say that. I remember a TV analyst being higher in San Francisco who also play in the NFL albeit with a hall of fame career. Unlike like, Mike may ox in John Lynch John Lynch was hired by the forty Niners. What are we hear a lot of the same stuff, right? He's a FOX analyst. What does he know? He calls games. How could he run? A team is played in the league. How could he be how could he jump right into the general manager? Rally pulled off a deal for Jimmy Garoppolo that I know a tornado shield derail this year, but the forty Niners top to bottom their rosters, get more and more competitive. And if Garoppolo was healthy, I mean that was a team a lot of people thought would make the playoffs, but they lost their quarterback to a tornado unfair to judge. What's there's three John Lynch and Mike Mayock because John Lynch had a more prolific playing career, but doesn't always translate. That Miller was a great player. Terrible general manager. Terrible running a team. Look at the warriors, the Golden State Warriors apples oranges, the NBA Steve Kerr played in the NBA. And then went and was an analyst for TNT. Great MBA analysts. Guess what warriors hired a more apt without without a head coaching job and gave him a head coaching job. The warriors have done pretty damn good in that bay area in themselves. The berries is connected to these moves. We're bringing broadcasters in the prominent jobs. I know John gruden's a disaster. But a general manager when you're asking real GM's like, Jerry Reese, and they're declining. If those reports were true where else are they going to go? Mike Mayock was at least discussed with other teams in the past. It's not like he came out of thin air. And I actually find it to be an interesting higher book. John Lynch done a good job. Why can't Mike Mayock to a good job? He probably won't because the raiders are a mess and Jon Gruden probably will get in his way and not let them do what he really wants to do. But you know, it's funny. You say that somebody called it a while ago saying they like hearing me with an and I've mentioned the DA show a lot. It's Sean very proud of the work on here on CBS sports radio. We get a little experimenting for the first couple of years. We were on the air CBS sports radio two thousand thirteen two thousand fourteen thousand fifteen the first two years. We did the overnight show on CBS sports radio. Fifteen we're in this timeslot six to ten PM, and we used to have fun around draft time, and we pull up the the final mock drafts of Todd mcshay of Mel kiper of Mike Mayock and he throwing a couple of the draft analyst. Do you know every single year who who? Got the most first rounders right in his mock draft as far as teams going where was Mike Mayock by a wide margin. Yeah. Wrong than the first two picks. Overall Mel kiper every year. Yeah. Everybody goes to Mel kiper because he's like the draft guy. We've seen forever. Do yourself a favor. Go look at their final mock drafts and look at the dress. I know it's a lot of work to do research. But we did it. We have some formula. Mike Mayock was way more right than those guys were. And if my Mike Mayock is that on top of predicting and thinking where teams are going to go, man. He's got to step up on every other GM and a league. Then I actually think of all the moves. The raiders have made an have been plenty clown show moves this is the least clown show. I'm intrigued by it. So I'm not really sure other than the fact that it's the cool trendy thing to do with the easy thing to do is to pick on the raiders right now on that cheese. I love doing that. Because I think they've screwed over their fans beyond belief. I think picking on the Mike Mayock hires the wrong thing in Oakland. Or wherever the heck they're about the play. Oscar is in Dallas, Oscar, you're on CBS sports radio. Tony brown. I believe he like saying pornography's was Paula. My office does off you talked to the locker room. Big Ben and Tomlin wants to. Wants to. And. With OB J deceiver. Once you pay big was either a lot of money. The position that they have which is a highlight position. I mean, it was he was always on TV position. When the hell Mary. Yeah. You talked about it for Rex. Hieber? Yeah. Tonio browse on the cover of Madden. Yeah. I mean, everything he was Jimmy Kimmel whatever, and then you paint a bunch of money. That's how they become, you know, Andre Johnson had a good one one time. He he said that let players tell you who they are. Yeah. Rise to rise to camp on a helicopter. Yeah. Just tells you who he is. You know, why Oscar look I agree selfish, national call these arriving to keep it helps a little much. But this is like the cool thing to do with some of these players now is what's the funniest way? You could arrive to camp. And I know that one got a lot of attention people arrive in ridiculous cars might have even been Antonio Brown. I could be wrong somebody arrived like riding an elephant camel agency. Whatever people like to be funny. That's all of Tonio Brown did the way he arrives a campus. The least of my worries Mark is in Chicago, Mark, you're on CBS sports radio. Hey, how you doing man? What somebody I just heard a targeted by Georgia's situation. Now, the SEC always get credit when they do win a bowl game. You can't have it. Both ways to say they went out for a game. When they're a loser. Posterway Georgia's was trolling Oklahoma in this matchup set up because so they could boy did they could do to Texas where Oklahoma couldn't do. So they should they should have been out for these games. There's no issues you see ours. Oh, they did it. But when they don't we already went up, they don't work like that. Mark, Mark, look, I get it. From that perspective. I never look at bull records people are killing the Pac twelve this year because of the possible the judge who's up for these games after these layouts it is bought from if an SEC fan can't say anything. But who is I don't think Georgia's playing on behalf of SEC fans tonight. They're probably a lot of players in Georgia playing well out are probably some that just play saying I don't wanna get hurt before next season. I'm not in the college football playoff. I thought I should be there. Who cares? What I did versus Texas. And you see you may care SEC fans may care. But that's just the reality of the situation..

"He gets Scotty. You'll get Amy you'll get Tasmania moves. She'll get DA where I will be with the a back in my normal spot on the other side of the glass tomorrow morning in about twelve hours right back here. Of course, Jim Rome, Tiki and Tierney and Bill will be back tomorrow. So they are sticking with CBS sports radio throughout the holidays. Right now, the old sugarbowl Texas lane on Georgia's seventeen nothing, and it's it's always hard in the non cultural playoff games now over the last five years to big programs who you thought may of thoughts themselves deserved a spot in the playoff. What is their motivation in ballgames and Georgia? You're really make the case Georgia could have been the third best team nation. If not the second best team in the nation, depending on your thoughts on Clemson. And they went toe to toe with Alabama damn should've won that game in the SEC title game. They miss out on the playoffs because you know, we have to balance this out with four teams and not put to SEC teams in and here, they are not being in the playoff and getting butts kicked by Texas. Same Texas team that Oklahoma did beat in the big twelve championship game. So hot take tomorrow morning. If this continues in Georgia's driving right now, if Texas blows the doors off Georgia, the take will be while look George approved. They didn't blowing the cough. Playoff easy. It's hard for me to to this team down seventeen. Nothing was super focused about playing in the Sugar Bowl time. Have a hard time thinking that Jacob is in Boston. Jacob you're on CBS sports radio. Big fan. Appreciate you have appreciated. Jacob. What's up, man? Yeah. I think the Steelers have so much potential that they blew they have some assets. Maybe on bell. I'm Tony Brown. Jim connor. You know, the front office gets it plays happy. They gotta mix up the front office. Not the place. The front office is FOX. I mean, fair enough the front office puts them together. I don't mind clean, clean house and everything. Start a new in Pittsburgh promise. Pittsburgh, you see how many head coaches they've had since Chuck hall. Not many. Coward Tomlin were there. Forever. Mason in South Carolina. Mason, you're on CBS sports radio. Radio people. They're called. Yeah. Mason you're on with us. Goodbye on with the radio people, or whatever they called to Mason at the state was that was nice. What a nice call that was for Mason. I look IT's is raider segment. The raiders have been a joke all season. And frankly, the the fact that the fans on Christmas Eve in Oakland had no idea whether or not that was actually going to be the last time, they see the raiders in the Coliseum was another choke. The franchise top to bottom has mistreated their fans to certain extent, mistreated star players Jon Gruden got a lot to do with that with letting Khalil Mack. Oh, they brought Jon Gruden on the hopes of promises of the glory years of the rich Gannon past. NFL on deaf ears this year. I mean, the readers in the Jon Gruden were. We're a mess a total mess a catastrophe. They got older and free agency. We're every GM and every coach knows you need to sign guys going into their prime or just fill out the roster leader of veterans, but no they signed Doug Martin a backup marshawn Lynch to geezers at running backs. They son Jordy Nelson when dumping Michael Crabtree. Not crepe tribe's young anymore, but they got older it wide receiver more decrepit. Their outfits of line wasn't as good as it's been and fans in Oakland clinging on to two years ago. They think they're going to be the next team that beat the pats there car are now left with skeletons with dinosaurs on that roster and a coach who thinks coaching in two thousand and two thousand nineteen nothing innovative at all about Jon Gruden and the season with down the tubes in our mess. And nobody knows what they're going to do in the draft to maybe they draft a Dwayne Haskins of say goodbye, Derek Carr. Who knows they train Amari Cooper? They single handedly turn the Cowboys at bears in the division winners by giving up. Amaury Cooper Khalil Mack and the raiders left twiddling their thumbs looked the raiders were in a baris- this year. And they deserve every lack every lick every ounce of criticism. They get. But I thought they did something interesting this week. The hard make Mike Mayock NFL networks draft analyst ref kingpin to be the general manager. And of course, because the raiders get made fun of for everything the raiders do and rightfully so I understand they were mocked it this I couldn't turn on the radio yesterday and New Year's Eve on black Monday and not here. Take about what the heck are the raiders doing higher? Make Mike Mayock. And I just found felt the shortsighted by many in the fans to to bash them up all the things the raiders have done. This is the least that should be mocked two reasons. Number one. It's not as if they put Mike Mayock had a thin air. It was only a year ago and before the two years ago might be name has been floated as general manager candidate for last two years for teams. I just did a simple Google search the Washington Redskins. We'll look at a higher than last year. And never got that forty never got higher. But this wasn't like we're splitting this is. What has been discussed? This is what Mike may ex wanted to do. He's put himself out there. He schmoozed enough. That was a side note the raiders requested to speak with Jerry Reese giant SuperBowl winning general manager, he declined. If you are somebody who is credible. General manager has been the NFL before why would you take the raiders job right now knowing what Jon Gruden has done with his own power there? That's on an enticing second general manager job. If you've already had one that sounds like a death sentence. If you've already had one where you know, there's no coming back from it. If that's your second stint as general manager, Jerry Reese, but for a guy who has tried to be a general manager. We had teams interested in him. That's a no brainer. Some point. You got you are in a position where there's only thirty two of those jobs new hot one of them. You would pass over for a couple of years because of your lack of experience, you gotta take it. So if the raiders weren't hiring Mike Mayock who were they hired. Whatever they would have hired would have been a bigger disaster. Now people want to say, well, he's an he's a TV analyst. What does the TV analysts know about running a team? That's funny. You say that. I remember a TV analysts being hired in San Francisco who also play in the NFL, I'll be with a hall of fame career like Mike may ox in John Lynch. John Lynch is higher by the forty Niners. What are we hear a lot of the stuff? Right. He's a FOX analyst. What does he know? He calls games. How could he run a team? He's played in the league. How could he be how could he jumped right in general manager? Well, he pulled off a deal for Jimmy Garoppolo that I know a twenty year old derail this year, but the forty Niners top the bottom their rosters, get more and more competitive. And if Garoppolo is healthy, I mean, I was a team a lot of people thought would make the playoffs, but they lost their quarterback to a tornado unfair to judge. What's there at St John Lynch and Mike Mayock because John Lynch had a more prolific playing career that doesn't always translate? That Miller was a great player. Terrible general manager. Terrible. Mike Mayock was at least discussed with other teams in the past. It's not like he came out of thin air. And I actually find it to be an interesting higher. Look, john. Lynch has done a good job. Why can't make me off to a good job? He probably won't because the raiders are a mess and Jon Gruden probably will get in his way. Not let them do what he really wants to do. But you know, it's funny you say that somebody called it a while ago saying they like hearing me with an mentioned that the show a lot. "The fun. So another one for fifteen and that one worked to let's throw for twenty-five. Woo is fun. I mean is no defense whatsoever. Which is why I would probably take Texas this week. Plus because I can't give up point seven and a half, and it just giving them they're they're they're pretty good football team. I if alligator if etlinger is the quarterback is healthy but that game, and then it was classic too. Because we're the biggest play the game West Virginia called for a block out of bounds. That instead of having the ball to to their dad back at the fifty and then turn it over and Oklahoma rented in for a touchdown to that was pretty much the they couldn't get close. Couldn't take the lead. But yeah, I mean, I'll Oklahoma's I think would deserve it other than Georgia pie beat him Georgia beat him last year. But man, Alabama could stop people, and they Adele, can you will Alabama do against Oklahoma defense. They'll put a sixty easy because they're going to get the ball back more than like West Virginia got it back because again, there are no punts in that game. Alabama for shoot a punt Oklahoma score. But that game will probably like sixty two thirty. I mean 'cause Alabama make you notice take how you can't stop West Virginia. You're gonna stop Alabama's offense. Not not a chance. No, not a chance. All right. Let's get back to Niners. Obviously yesterday lose twenty seven nine to Tampa Bay a lot of disappointment there. But the big story was what happened on Saturday night with Reuben foster, our good friend, Matt maiocco, joins us at Miyoko NBC s makes you following a make sure that you're reading all his stuff and NBC sports bay area as well. He joins us courtesy of the Houma. Guess i'd. Hi matic. Doing good. How are you? Good. I mean, I didn't really wanna be spinning Sunday morning at the hill borough county jail that one didn't make for a final road trip. I walk in. And I said can I can I just grab some floor right here. Look at you. You're listening. Ground floor. Thank you so much. Can I grab some floor? Oh, you should have seen his. We were stunned when we heard it again. It's like, okay. I guess. Yeah. Every now there there are certain sayings are people say something that just sticks forever that definitely worthy. Yeah. We've used that one. Even even now will use that what what does go. Hey, good got some floor, and everyone everyone knows what hit me. Yeah. Absolutely. I before we get it everything. You're listening to Tolbert Lund on kmby are seven Cisco KFC and HD two San Mateo, the sports leader. All right. So where do we start on this thing? Let's let's just start on Saturday. When you heard this thing just how how stunned were you that this woman was anywhere near the hotel? And that this had all gone down again. Sadly, not not stunned. Yeah. I mean, I think I heard that they, you know, we're back together or. You know, whatever it is that their relationship is. So I knew that she wasn't completely out of the picture. So I mean, you know, unfortunately, as we talk through, you know, most of this spring. Always had the sense that you know, if it wasn't this is gonna be something else. And so I yeah, I just it was more. You know, you gotta be kidding me. Rather rather than surprise that had happened? It was just kinda like, wow, you know. He just he just couldn't get out of his own way. And you know, again, we don't know what happened. You'll we certainly don't even know what happened in in February after I mean, I sat in on the preliminary hearing from that incident as a DA the Santa Clara county DA's office. We're trying to prosecute him for domestic violence from that w your incident in in Los Gatos and. You know? I mean after that thing was over. And you heard the accuser Linda NS when when she got off the stand. Yeah. I was just as confused after her recantation as I was going into that. You know, I I knew what you know from from the initial police report, I thought well that doesn't sound real believable. You know that that he could hit or eight to ten times. And after hearing her recantation I walked away from that going. Well, that recantation didn't sound real believable. So you know, we're we're talking about two people who. Yeah. There seems to be obviously a lot of chaos in their relationship. I know Reuben has a another girlfriend now, but he allowed her to visit him at the team hotel. And I mean, you just knew it wasn't. If those two were together wasn't gonna end well, probably for either side. And so we're back to to where we were. And I just spoke with the Santa Clara county DA's office, and they're now re-examining. Their case that. Dell was thrown out for insufficient evidence by a judge in in may. So, you know, they're they're taking another look at that. And seeing if they can't take this on from a different angle. It's certainly sounds like they haven't closed the door on pursuing criminal charges against Reuben foster from what in February in Los Gallos, you know, as interesting because a lot of people were saying, well, why not let all the facts come out in this case like they did the first the first case. And I don't know if they're thinking the same thing, I am. But I said this after the first case, and I said, I was done after speculating what happened there, I'm done even trying to figure out what happens violence cases, because we don't know. We'll never we win that ever know unless you have visual evidence of what of what happened in in some of these situations, but I will say this. And I said it then this guy's a terrible decision maker. I mean, he he puts himself in terrible decisions. It wasn't just the domestic violence. Was the guns. It was drugs, and whether you could say, well, that's legal here. It's not I don't care. And I wonder if the Niners felt that way. Like, look, we're not sure exactly what happened here. But this thing's going to end well at some point because he's such a terrible decision maker. We're going to have to do this. We might as well, do it sooner rather than later. Oh one hundred percent. Yeah. No, they they did not make a statement. Like, we think he did this or you know, we think he's guilty that that's immaterial as far as they're concerned in making this decision. You know, if they they would have let the the whole legal system, you know, run. Its course what this was about was it, you know, and I don't know the specifics on that. But, but what what John Lynch said was, you know, we gave him a set of guidelines and rules to follow and he basically betrayed their trust. So my question John Lynch was did you tell him? He couldn't see that woman or that person. And he didn't answer that question. Here's here's more more likely. You know, what occurred was it? They probably said, hey, look, you, you know, your man, you can do whatever you want, and you can see whoever you want. You can do anything, you know, outside the team. Just don't ever let it be a distraction for the team and don't let it impact your play in. Don't put yourself in those positions. Well, so. I mean, we we know the history with with Reuben foster and this woman, and I'm sure the whether it was stated or not I mean it had to be that. Hey, look, I if you if there's another police incident. With you and the same person, then you're done, you know, that's that's what you're talking about. Is the decision making? Yeah. No. If if those two had. Yeah. I mean, just I mean, it's it's. I'm at a loss for words because I mean, this is a guy that everybody liked, but he just he keeps making the same mistakes over and over. And he he looks at you. He smiles, and he talks about how much of a learning experience. It was how terrified he was last year or during the season that football career was going to be over. But then he doesn't he shows you that football isn't that important to him because the football where that important to him. He would prioritize at number one and cut out all the other stuff of of his life that could jeopardize his football career. And you know, I'm gonna take this another step. I mean, he plays football kinda like how he lives his life. He's he's reckless football player doesn't take care of his body out there on the field. He doesn't protect himself on the field. You know, he's not available to the team on the field because of. What he does on the field. And he does the same stuff off the field. You know, he doesn't protect himself off the field. He's reckless on the field is reckless off the field. We're talking to Matt maiocco Reuben foster released today by the forty Niners after another domestic violence issue over the weekend in Tampa on Saturday with the same woman at reports are coming out that they were living together that foster and NS were living together in October is that true and in any edict that he couldn't have contact with her from the organization. Well, I don't know that they they would say that like I said, I think that you know, there might be pressing it for them to say this is who you can. And can't you for an employer to tell Sonny? This is who you can. And can't be dating or seeing or whatever. But I mean, my my thought would be that would be more likely to say if you surround yourself with people that that are good for you. You know that that you act when you're around them. You're good person. In win. You know, just people who compliment you don't be around people who who bring out your worst side or create this kind of chaos in your life. So my thought would probably be and I think this would be well within their rights of. Hey, look, we don't care who you're dating or seeing or whatever just we don't ever want to hear of you getting in a situation, whether you did it or not that you're accused of something I said earlier on Matt I think one of my favorite quotes of the of the year was from Joe Staley yesterday after the game a game in which the beat twenty seven to nine answering a couple Reuben foster questions he kind of looked a little disgruntled. Somebody say what you know, what's wrong. And he said can't we just talk about football. Yeah. That'd be tweet ninety wanted to talking about football. That's probably the only subject outside of football that Joe Staley would have said that about believable. Hey, we just got her ass kicked. We just talked about that one. Please. We we love it when it comes through the draft. The traffic included ruined five looked really good. Now. It doesn't look all that hot anymore. And that's the crazy thing about drafts. Is you always have to give them to three years. It's the play out and see what you have in light of that. I mean, how important is this one for everyone wants to lay this on John Lynch? John Lynch may make the final call. But I'm sure Shanahan. So that has some say fix. There are other people in the organization that have some say, but I mean, the lynched I'm sure that's where the buck stops. How important is this one? This another year we're going to have a whole bunch of high draft picks in each round. And that last time it didn't go that. Well, now, they've had some good pigs. But it seems to me this one's gonna be. Really really important for this regime. Well, I think even before that, you know, free agency is is going to be big for them..

"My guess is running more simply because the the forty Niners won't necessarily be holding the ball for seventy five place. Would you would you say the comparison because you take a blitzing? I know exactly what you're talking about. I've always compared blitzing to to base running in baseball. And wondering what you're going to say about that. I you know, you had that pregnant pause. I don't know if I was gonna go base stealing or base running. But the point is it's not just speed speed doesn't make your basement or speed doesn't make you a great base. Stealer. It's correct. It's little bit of instinct, let studying reading guys know what they wanna do. And there's just so many things that I I agree with you some guys you look at them and go how does that guy? Not get to the quarterback. I mean, he's in a dawn as he's a four five guy. You look at other guys. They don't look imposing aren't as fast. And they're always around the quarterback because he does have that knack forgetting there. Yeah. And again, that's that's a tough thing to quantify in a conversation. Like, we're having. It's like you watch guys in college. Okay, linebackers, and and my guess is these are the kinds of players that scouts and coaches helped a tough time with when you're seeing in college who makes a ton of place. Okay. But then you get him at the combine. And he runs four eight and he's not the right size. And all that. And you think oh, I don't think he's going to do that in the NFL. And then somebody drafts them, you know in the fifth. Around or sixth-round because he doesn't have the quote unquote measurable, and he ends up doing the exact same thing. Amish is a guy who comes to mind from a number of years ago. And you know, there's there's a field. There's a play recognition. There's an ability to to see it and react at a speed that's quicker than others. Even though you're not moving as fast as others. And you know, I think blitzing falls into that kind of category. Talking to Greg Cosell. Niners raiders tomorrow night at Levi stadium. Niners receivers whether it's peer Garson. Whether it's Trent Taylor is kinda disappeared. Dante Pettis has had injuries. But this was something where when Jimmy Garoppolo came aboard last year, he improved the receivers a lot of us around here. Well, maybe they're decent enough. But they've really struggled. Whether it's man getting whatever it is. What are you seeing? I think there's I it works. A number of ways a quarterbacks who play with a good sense of timing always make receivers better, and I think one of death issues, and unfortunately, it's a reason he gets living crappy every week is he tends to hold the ball. Be too long. You know, the ball has to be out and open in the NFL is a relative term. You know, it's easy to watch guys and say, oh, gee, they're covered. Well, when it's man to man in the NFL guy, I do tend to be covered, you know, we're dealing with professional athletes, but you have to make throws particularly zone is a different animal. But man, you gotta turn a loose. That's the difference. And and you know, I'm not suggesting that the receivers are winning consistently. But if it's man quarterbacks crowd eternal loose and and Beth road. I think at times still struggles with what's truly open in the NFL last touchdown throw by the cardinals Rosen made it wasn't open. Fine was behind the defender within. In spot. Had hit red zone in the NFL. Yeah. Exactly. But that's the that's the point. You can see a guy in jersey that just stand there in a field of grain like ooh, this guy. Threw the ball before Kirk clear Titus cowl. Exactly. So that's you know, that goes into what I'm saying. That was his own concept gas deal you can't wait for him to break in front of Titus Powell you have to make that throw in the tight red zone. You know, it wasn't a tight rejoin on. I guess maybe it was nine yards. So it'd be called the tight reds. Yeah. But yeah, I mean, that's that's NFL quarterbacking those I see I think something like that is in Rosen's DNA. I I'm not sure that's an NC CJ's DNA. Yeah. Well, that's why when was drafted third round was drafted in the top ten. Did you watch? Did you watch any of the Panthers ravens last week? Yeah. I watched both sides of the ball. Okay. Just I'm curious because I haven't had a chance to watch too many raven games. I definitely want to check them out. They seem to be trending in the right direction. And when I watched some highlights what has been kind of their story this year with the success. They've eggs they look like they're back on the right path. Well, and they had a tough game this week. But I think that they played an offense. Yeah. That is very difficult to prepare for there were tough offense to defend there's so many different personnel packages and formation looks. There's multiple backfield actions. There's a quarterback who must be accounted for in the run game. So I think they just they ran into a team that is particularly difficult to prepare for and you know, a tough game for them. And their offense was was not very good. Their options tends to be up and down, Tom. And that's that's a concern at times because if their defense gets handled then I times their offense does not compensate for. Yeah. Do you like Carolina Carolina? Do you look at them and say what they're doing is sustainable, and they they they could be there in the end not not the Super Bowl wise, but playoff and be a factor. Yes, I do. And and I think you know, I've come to terms with this. Because Cam Newton just never going to be as precise a thriller as as the so-called greats. Okay. Drew Brees is or the Tom Brady's or the Peyton Manning's. He's never going to be that guy. But he can make great throws. And we can debate this forever. He really is a factor in the run game. And he presents major problems for defenses. And it allows the Panthers to have an incredibly multiple run game. That is so hard to defend and that is a factor. And you know, we can sit, you know, maybe it's tough to quantify for people. And there's no, you know, sabermetrics stack for it. I don't know. I don't follow that stuff that closely. But it's really a factor. A real quick Derek Carr. We talked obviously about a lot about the niner's quarterback situation. Twenty one two hundred twenty eight to forty four three touchdowns is best game of the season, obviously against Indianapolis. And as you said not a really good defense. But but where is he right now overall as a quarterback? Well, I still like Derek Carr. And I think he's got a lot of ability. And I think that he's he looked in that game a little more settled in. And again, we can debate defense. It's still an NFL game. I thought he looked settled in. I thought that Gruden did a good job presenting route concepts where he could make the throws within timing. You know, I think at times he does have a tendency to be too quick to check it down. And I'm sure that you know, depending on the play call you'd like him to to work a little and in show a little more pocket patients. But I think he that he has a lot to work with. I don't know Derek Carr. So I can't speak to you know, what he does mentally in terms of preparation and those kinds of things, but he's a talented guy. You don't just I I guess the point is there was a lot of talk about you know, what is good. And think of Derek Carr is you're going to get rid of them to me guys that counted throwing the ball. You don't just get rid of. Great to talk to you. Thank you so much. We appreciate what talk next week. All right, guys. Appreciate it takes Halloween. Same to you. He'll be in the studio. Get home and the kids allowed to be gone. So that that'd be perfect for him. All right from Greg Cosell to John Lynch, John Lynch will join us in about five minutes. We'll get into some raiders talk nine stock. It the latest on the quarterback situation. Nick Mullins could make his regular season debut. So we'll get into that as well. Frustration level obviously to one and seven star. We'll get into that as well with John Lynch general manager of the Niners only here on the sports leader. But first here is your latest traffic. From the Chilton auto body traffic.

"You're built men. When I first met you traps, you are built to play traps. I dare no more. I'm not. I didn't say that, but when I first met you, I was like, that's what a football player looks like. Okay, James, not everybody can withstand. Like when Jerry says, eighteen games might take away as John Lynch. John Lynch never had a concussion. John Lynch was one of the nastiest hitters at safety. Then you find other guys a corner doesn't want to tackle anybody's got three like like for you. Thirty eight games. The average NFL player is eighteen games too much. I think eighteen games is too much in the setup they have now with four then eighteen. No, I think eighteen games. Regular season is too much. I think they need to add more pair more players. So do I, you need to add a true practice squad so that you're not taking that same wear and tear in season with practicing. You know, the guys that are special teams. They're flipping back and forth. They're playing offense for the scout team. They're doing special teams stuff. You need a true group of another eight guys in practice. I'm saying like a group that's like fifteen to eighteen guys. So it would be another eight or so added to what it is now. So we ate practice squad now. Yeah, it'd be another eight or so at least James Harrison former NFL. Great. Now he's here f s? One. We're glad to have him good. Seeing you bud. Thank you. Joy with the news. This is the headline news. Money this week, and now it's Aaron Rodgers signed a four year. One hundred and thirty four million dollar extension that will keep him as Packer through twenty twenty. Three also pushes the guaranteed money to more than one hundred million. And that is according to NFL network analyst and former teammate. James Jones cyclist. Listen. Nervous, man. It's somebody home breaking for four me. I'm on the phone with Aaron and he's like, okay, you've found the tweet it out, tweet it out these numbers and how they don't know, man. I mean, he's my guy, man. You know what I'm saying? Just shows you relationship. We had, you know why we play with each other man. Just let me break this news and it keeps them as a Green Bay Packer for very long time. Aaron Rodgers told James that he would give him the first whenever. Here's the thing go now it's up to the Green Bay Packers to draft really, really well. Okay. Because and there's New Orleans a couple years ago, joy went out and nailed the draft. Got like six guys who could play Alvin Kamara was one of them now. No, like Minnesota looks at it and things. We got a really good defense. We got really good roster. We're going to give Kirk couple couple bills, Kirk cousins, but you better draft. Well, because you're going to other guys are going to be coming up here the next two or three years in Minnesota, and you just can't pay for him..
