"Was super exciting. This is kind of my dream of scoring his first touchdown with my teammates of guys in that locker room that they were so excited for me and for trying, making that play sponsored by UCSF Health Redefining possible on kgo 8 10. Oh, yeah, definitely. That's gonna be a long how many other days are left to? I mean, you wait all year for these games, and you know, the only 17 of them are guaranteed, so it's a little different. I feel like that's what I think cool about. Football is You practice all the time, but you know, there's not 100 games. Each one is such a big deal, and he put so much into it and it's It's only three hours. So you got a lot to work on so much stuff. You gotta practice and only half of it comes up in the game. So there's lots of things to go through. And lots of anticipation. Anxiety can go with that. But all you're hoping is you just prepare the best you can and Everyone can't wait for kick off because you want to shut off that mind and go and that's really easy when you feel prepared. And like that were often running good morning to everybody. Larry Kruger, joined by John Lund, Dennis Brown, 49 or football. It is week one in the NFL guys, it is here. The offseason is complete. Training camp is complete. Preseason is come and gone. And we're here Week one in the NFL. And today the Niners on the road in Detroit at Ford Field against the Detroit Lions, who are very much in a rebuilding pattern. And of course, we've got Matt Leland today on the controls Tim Webb running the show and we're leading leading into what is going to be a great full day of 49 or football. What's going on, guys? Uh, full day early, starting early for us here in the city. Uh, I'm excited. You know, I was. I was watching all the college games yesterday and Getting fired up for this and seeing all the different 49 gear around the city like always, But it's great that this you know the season is going to start up here. It's on the road. Uh, you know, a lot of excitement. Good draft. Good offseason draft. Good preseason. I kind of enjoyed the preseason, John. I mean, it was some exciting stuff going on, you know, watching all the different battles that position so let's get her fired up. I'm excited. Yeah, I am, too. I mean, like, Like you said, you were a couple of weeks into the college season. Everybody's jacked up. We've talked so much about who's going to do what and how much is trading to play and who's the starter? And this and that and now we finally get to see it because I don't know how much you know Kyle's going to unleash the offense on Detroit. Detroit's missing the left tackle are going to take a rookie there, right tackle and move them over the left tackle and ho. Hi, I'm Nick Bosa in in your from Oregon, and you just beat Ohio State and I'm pissed. I mean, it's it's going to be really cool to finally unleash everything. And then you know, I think all of us are really high in the 49 ers. If they stay healthy, this could be a contender in the NFC, So I think It's just an exciting time and this should be a game that let's let's be honest. If they don't make mistakes and beat themselves. They should blow the Lions out to start off the season. This should be there should be a win today and lines have a new head coach, and, you know, they mean that's always kind of a punch in the arm a little bit. Uh and you know they're at home. They get to open up at home, so it's going to be interesting to see what happens. You know, as good as the 49 ers have been, and you know the being going to the Super Bowl just a couple of years ago. This is year five for cow Shanahan there one in three the US far in week one to get things wrong, so we'll see if they can change that trend today. Now they're 16 and four against the Lions in the last 20 matchups and the Niners. Have started. Wanna know guys six times in the last nine years, So this would be seven of 10 if they could start want to know this year? Um, and they were have been a really good road team, even the last couple years. Last year with the struggles they still were very strong on the road and, of course today on the TV side, and I think it's Kevin Cougar, Mark Sanchez, but we'll have Greg Pop and Tim Ryan on the call today on KGO a 10. AM And of course, one of 7.7 FM the bone guys, let's talk a little bit about this offseason. The Niners are to add an awful lot. Um, you know, most notably Trey Lance, but that was far from it. And then they go to and one in the preseason, but maybe more importantly, stayed healthy, and I thought that was kind of a key. They're introducing a new defensive coordinator today in Damico, Ryan's, uh, facing alliance team that did not win at all in the preseason, and this is year one of the Dan Campbell Regime. If I said to you guys who is outside of tree Lance, the most important offseason edition for the 49 ers, What would you say? Well, I think the ability for uh, John Lynch to keep that defense together. I think at the end of the season we We didn't think a lot of these guys going to come back on the defensive side of the football, But for some reason, or somehow they're able to keep a lot of these guys. That K wands and, uh, and the tarts, these guys, they really keep them. On the defense and just to keep that defense together and then then go out and get too good. Um, cornerbacks in the draft, and then you know you. You do the things on the offensive line. You didn't get trade. Lance, I think they did a really good job. But just keeping some of these guys that we thought we can go to way D. J. Jones. Some of these guys that we didn't think you'd be on the team, you know, to stay on this defense so You know it, and it's going to be interesting to see if they're able to jail. See if quasi is going to be a guy that they can depend on its strong safety. And you know, Jimmie Ward is going to be back there. So I think it was great to keep the defense. Some of these guys we thought we lost Richard Sherman. But then to go out and find you know some a veteran cornerback. Um I think.

Kevin Cougar Larry Kruger John Lynch Tim Webb John Lund Dennis Brown Tim Ryan Greg Pop Richard Sherman Mark Sanchez Nick Bosa Matt Leland Jimmie Ward Kyle Trey Lance Detroit Lions 10. AM D. J. Jones Ohio State 100 games

Sixty two this is the intro of the final johnny dollar episode that aired on september thirtieth nineteen sixty two right before the final episode of suspense. A special investigator. Johnny dollar due northeast and association home office hartford connecticut expenses incurred during my investigation tip-off matters and with the close of that show and the playing the suspense episode that followed it almost all historians mark this as the end of the golden age of radio as those two shows finally went off the air and of course that's quite disappointing but it is amazing To see how i mean. Whoever the casting director was phenomenal job they. All of those actors sounded remarkably close in invoice and it just goes to show that any long running show is going to come up against things where actors have to change if the show is going to survive and this of course. Johnny dollar is One of the one of the best alltime radio detective stories. I have heard all of them myself. Of course i think. Jd probably has multiple times and it's a lot of fun and it really did enter into the culture in a way. That was very very Long-lasting bob and ray the Cbs radio comedians. In the seventy s Made many many parodies of johnny dollar with their version. Ace willoughby international detective. They followed the format Exactly and of course they were. You know being funny and ray goulding The ray part of bob and ray did a letter. Perfect imitation of bob bailey's delivery The effect of culture is the effect on culture was quite lengthy and extended as shown by this. And so we pay a slight amish here At the cynical wards to one of the greatest and one of the last old time radio shows yours. Truly johnny dollar Well done well done. I had no idea where you were going with this and This is so interesting to me. Because i have heard all these episodes but never actually sat down and listened to each of these actors back to back us So this is really interesting in what stood out to me. The most is edmond. O'brien and john lund are almost identical. Voices are so similar. They all have their own delivery of course and they ought their own sort of feel to the character. If you listen past yeah the first little opening there some of them were more more. Hard-bitten and crisp others were were less. Oh but Their voices were also remarkably similar similar. It's amazing they found these these people so i guess odyssey still has what five more with stu. That's right that's right. Oh goodness well. That was fascinating. So thank you andrew and you're right. It is one of my all time favorites and It's it is a little bit sad the thinking about at the very end of the show but we have all these amazing episodes to enjoy this day so i it is not gone. Those old time radio shows and andrew once again is here to bring us this segment andrews spotlight on old time radio. One of the amazing things about ultime. Radio is how long running. Some of these shows were. They lasted for years and years. Generally continuously maybe sometimes with the little breaks for the summer and among the longest running of the shows and among the last Of the really great old time radio shows was yours. Truly johnny dollar now. I picked this this year because our Our fearless leader. Jd has been known and probably still is known. I dunno across the internet and oliver areas Places as johnny dollar. That is i believe his favorite old time radio definitely one of the top. Yep so. I thought that i would take this opportunity to share a little bit about the history of the johnny dollar old time radio show. This show ran from february fourteenth. Excuse me february. Eighteenth nineteen forty nine to september thirtieth nineteen sixty two the only show that outlasted. It was suspense and the last episode of suspense aired. Right after the last episode of johnny dollar so it takes the distinction by about thirty minutes. But the johnny dollar show ran for such a long time that there were so many different actors for johnny dollar. It's it's kind of amazing I did not include in the little clips. That i'm going to that. We're going to play here The audition shows but there were in total eight different johnny dollars across the thirteen years that it ran Counting the auditions of a couple of people who ended up not Not snagging the role but Dick powell charles russell edmond o'brien john lund gerald more bob bailey bob riddick and mandel kramer all voiced this detective insurance investigator Sort of hard boiled gumshoe style of show. The show always began with the phone ringing or at least after the first couple years The phone ringing and the answer came johnny dollar and some insurance company would be calling him to investigate some matter that they thought they had paid out incorrectly he would take the time and usually the hard knocks to find out what had happened in reality. Should they have paid out the money intent. Normally they shouldn't have hence the story so I found it really incredible as i found the the little intros of the different actors. How similar their vocal characteristics were when they took over these roles. We don't include. Dick powell or gerald moore in this list but because they only did one show as an audition and ended up not taking it for whatever reason but we'll start and i'll just name the actor who's playing johnny dollar and will listen to the intro and we can kind of see how the show changed over the years by listening to these Different actors. I from february nineteen forty nine to january nineteen fifty. Johnny dollar.

"Looking for copes, you could listen to intended to Filling in for Greg Papa joining John Lund. Plenty of Giants baseball talk this week. And this morning, John is preparing to welcome the Chicago Cubs to town cubs are red hot, really looking forward? Setting up that series tomorrow. I do. Anticipate as fun is the ballpark was when the Dodgers came to town and giant sands were out in about We saw more than 10,000 crowd consistently for the first time. Jazz lost all three of those games that they beat the Cubs this week and I do anticipate it will be a fun. Syriza's The atmosphere will be a lot better. As we go throughout the month of June. You more texts. 415 20 out that you know Mark Willard and I have that little beef about what is today the segment that he does each evening. You wanted to point out that today is nationally National Rotisserie Chicken Day National Rocky Road Day National Leave the office early day. Like I said, Willard will find any excuse to talk about what is today. I will find any excuse to avoid it altogether. So thank you for that text. Exactly. Six rivaled Schyman in for real. I can't take one more Matt Whistler appearance. We've seen enough. And look, I do think that we've reached the point where the Matt Wisler experiment the giant have had with the right hander who's really only had one good major league season. I think time could be running out here. I don't know this for certain. But I do know that the Giants have job Rabia rehabbing and Triple a Sacramento Very good former ST Louis Cardinals reliever who they believe can help them. In the middle of this summer middle of this season. So far, the rehab appearances have been good. They added. Dom Leone to the roster. They've already brought up Nick Tropeano. You look the last week and save for Whistler and save for the three run home run that Tyler Rogers allowed at Dodger Stadium. That really shouldn't have happened if you remember Play that took place that Marie Siobahn couldn't feel the double play ball. I think the Giants bullpen has been a lot better over the last week, and there's just been some scenarios where it hasn't quite played out according to plan one thing that I did want to get to before Murph and Mac joined me. To preview their show this morning. It's Lou Gehrig Day across Major League baseball for the very first time. Major League Baseball. Celebrate Lou Gehrig Day on June 2nd, and it carries historical significance because it is that day in 1941 80 years ago, the Yankees legend passed away. Ls. At the age of 37. Disease for which we do not have a cure, and many across Major League baseball are working for a cure. So one of the most famous speeches in the major leagues Luke Eric, today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the Earth. But I might have Thing given a bad break. I've got an awful lot to live for. Thank you. Course, that is a speech that transcends generations. And one that I am glad that Major league Baseball will recognize on June 2nd. Because LS has robbed us of so many lives. And has taken such a toll on society. And it is important that Major league baseball and Many other visible organizations step up and work to find a cure for this terrible, terrible disease, and so The Oakland A's or heavily involved in pushing for Lou Gehrig Day across major League baseball, in large part because Stephen Piscotty lost his mother. A last Remember a few years ago, when Stephen Piscotty was traded from the ST Louis Cardinals to the Oakland A's well he came home was able to spend a little time with his mother. Mother Aggression who died of a LS in May of 2018. And Stephen Piscotty was asked about his feelings about Major League baseball implementing Lou Gehrig Day across the league. And this is what the Oakland A's outfielder have to say. I'm not sure how I'm gonna feel from gonna be emotional whatnot, but I imagine all they'll be a lot of thoughts about my mom and Um, you know, really excited to celebrate Lou Gehrig and the man he was What a role model for for so many and somebody young, aspiring ballplayers..

"For Adam Copeland, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week. If you're looking for your man copes well, he got the promotion to the big leagues, folks he's filling in for Greg Papa with John Lund. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week, so I will be in and when I'm in this seat that Adam Copeland usually sits in We almost always open the show talking San Francisco Giants baseball. There are first place team right now it is the most exciting. The Giants have been in at least five years and maybe more here in the Bay Area. But after Tuesday's clunker of a loss 81 to the Angels were to save our Giants talk for the next few segments, and we're gonna go into what I thought was really the most compelling sports story. Of the week. Thus far, it was Damian Lillard performance against the Denver Nuggets. On Tuesday night, Damian Lillard. Folks. I'm sitting in the press box and Oracle Park watching the Giants get trounced. And I have this new tradition where Ever since fans have come back in the ball park, one of my favorite things to do around the 2nd 3rd 4th inning. Let's go take a stroll around the stadium. Go check out the bleachers. Go walk behind the arcade. Look, look into McCovey Cove. See what's going on around the ballpark. I cannot get enough of it. It is tremendous have all the fans all the energy back inside Oracle Park and so The vast majority of home games this season. That's what I've been doing in the early innings going to say hi to people checking out the sights sounds scenes around Oracle Park. But I did not do that on Tuesday night because I was glued. To this Blazers Nuggets game. And for good reason. I think many of us were Lakers and the sons were just unwatchable. Last night is the Sun's won by 30. Chris Paul LeBron James both coming out of that game early for different reasons, although maybe LeBron James will say it's the same reason Paul was out with a shoulder injury. LeBron just disappeared during the fourth quarter, nowhere to be found. But again The Lakers and the sons were not the game that the entire national basketball audience was tuned into. It was Damian Lillard and his 55 points his NBA record, 12 Three pointers in a postseason game. What was most stunning about this performance was not the fact that Dame Lillard went off and the Blazers lost. We're accustomed to that we have seen Dame Lillard put a team on his back on Lee to lose many times. In fact, his postseason record again, Steph Curry. Oh, in 10, so we've seen it a lot through the years. What was most stunning. Was the way that the Denver Nuggets defended Dame Willard at the end of this basketball game. Michael Malone, head coach of the Denver Nuggets, is extraordinarily lucky. With the way that this game played out because He not only left Dame Willard Covered man to man at the end of the game. With a three point lead in the opportunity to Fallon, sending the line for two once he did it twice. He got away with leaving Daimler and open at the end of a basketball game. Regulation and in the first of two overtimes. His team picked him up. And that happens when you have Yokich the M V P That happens when no one else on the Blazers is showing a pulse in overtime. My goodness. How do you let that happen? To me. That's the story of the game. It is as much about Dame Willard scoring 55 12 3 pointers, one of those deficient shooting performances you will ever see in an NBA postseason game. 55 on 24 shots. 12 for 17 from three One of the best big game shooters in the history of basketball, or the best big moment shooters in the history of basketball, and you've got M P. J on him. At the end of regulation of the end of overtime. At least double him, at least for someone else to beat you. C. J. McCollum was having a terrible game got dribbled out of bounds and double overtime. How was he? Not the one with the ball in his hands. Damian Lillard 52 minutes on the floor. 55 points, one turnover. How? How does the man who is on the floor for 52 points? With the ball in his hands nearly every single play. Dish with one turnover that is on coaching. That is his much of Dame Lillard spectacular performance and superhuman effort. As it is on the Denver Nuggets, just saying Come and beat us. We're gonna stick to our own defensive game plan, and it did not work. 140 points, folks. It's a bad game. But the Nuggets have enough talent to overcome the Nuggets air really deep. They've got guys out there bench coming on and scoring 20 points. Blazers do not have that. Blazers have Lillard, sometimes McCollum and that's about it, C. J. McCollum postgame said. It's a shame that we wasted one of the best performances that you'll ever see. And, yeah, It is everyone in that Trail Blazers locker room. Should feel that way. Even Yokich on the other side of the floor. After watching what Littler did. His coach, getting away with an abomination of a strategy at the end of the game. Yokich tipped his cap. It was a pleasure on the court to witness that. I mean, how often does an opposing player admit that it was a pleasure to witness That type of a performance. Well, when your teammates score two points on one for four shooting in overtime and double overtime, that's how becomes a pleasure. No gets new. The only player that could hurt the Denver Nuggets their chances of going head 32 in that series was named Willard. And yet the Nuggets were still able to survive in advance there. Steph Curry tweeted at Daimler. That's all I have to say. Katie. Was just tremendous on social media As he has been for much of his NBA career. Kevin Durant tweeting I had like four tweets. I wanted to write to describe this All caps masterpiece by Damian Lamantia Ali Lillard Sr But I am seriously at a loss for words. That's pretty awesome when you've got one of the best pure scorers in NBA history. Using Damian Lamantia Ali Lillard senior in a tweet. That tells you what kind of night you had at the gym. Kevin Durant..

Guest spot on Cris Collinsworth's Guess, which normally features Richard Sherman. But he'll tell you why. Richard Sherman wasn't around today, but Furs up in San Jose far too much of this going on in our country. Police and firefighters responded to a shooting this morning about 6:34 A.m.. The Vita in San Jose, nine confirmed dead, including the suspect. Uh so we'll keep you up to date on everything that's going on as far as that goes, But, as you said, right before the break Horrible incident latest in our country happening in San Jose, the Vita again, nine confirmed I've been less than I can remember in the Bay Area was in, uh, garlic festival in Gilroy. That's right s O This way. He killed eight individuals. And then he's also dead. I don't know if they shot him or he took his own life. And he is Evita employees. 57 years of age of people's that Think they reached out to HR that he was a potential problem. There's also another individual in critical condition. So unfortunately, the number may grow. That is just a horrific, horrific scene here in the Bay Area, and just terrible. Yeah. We'll keep you up to date. Unfortunately on any changes, anything going on with that one, But so this morning, I was listening to John Lynch and I was I knew that he was gonna have Cris Collinsworth podcasts. And I thought the Richard Sherman was gonna be there and I'll tell you a little bit later. We'll play for you little bit later. Why Richard wasn't there. But this is about 45 minutes. A lot of this. You do know, but the devil's always in the details and a lot of this. You don't know. So for this whole debate of whether they were in on Mack Jones the whole time and switched to Trey Lance, it was basically they were in entree lands and they were in entree land so He gives a John Lynch gives us the details when they knew when he spoke with Kyle, where Chiyo was what guy was doing what they were doing. When they went down there. Just a lot of really fun. Good details. This is John Lynch this morning on with Cris Collinsworth on the Collinsworth podcast. Take a listen. It was like a Sunday night I had misspoke earlier. I thought he was in Cobb. Oh, easy there in Kabul or in San Diego In the off season, he was in San Diego near me. Actually, we're 10 Miles away, but him calling me and saying, Hey, John, this tray Lance and I was really excited because I was a fan of trays, but he's like, I can't stop watching it. I think there's a natural rhythm and time. Mean to his game as a passer, and he talked about all these things that even talk about the running element to his game for 15 minutes, And then he says, and on top of it, have you seen this guy run the ball and I Yeah, I have and the natural running instincts and so I could tell he was excited and he had made a cut up and he sent it to me that night, And then I couldn't go to bed because I'm up studying his cut and the cut up to have its comments and all and I'm reading the comments. I could tell. I know Kyle well enough. Now he was super excited Now, after that, we kind of committed to look, you know, we we've got to see this process through. We have to look at all the options. We've never seen trade myself for Kyle in person. He only played really one year and I never went out and watched him We hadn't gone to a pro day or anything. So we said, we have to let this process and give the process it's do we have to hear from our old scouting staff, but You know, it's not like us because we're usually incredibly inclusive in terms of asking everyone's opinion and all that we wanted that, But we usually you know, somehow tip off, everyone kind of what we're thinking on this one. We felt it was really important. Like No one can know what worth making because otherwise, we're not going to get their true opinions, and we respect a lot of people in our business. So Kyle and I kind of said this is our deal, and we were in entree early, but we like a guy like Mack Jones. There was all kinds of talk back played out of his mind. I mean, his year last year, it was near flawless and the way he played the position, and I know a lot of people had thoughts on. You know that's way too high for a guy like that. But You know? Did we give it consideration? Sure. We gave all those guys Justin fields. There's so much to like about his game. But trey from an early early on in the process Kind of was the favorite. But we wanted to hear from everyone. We did that. And, you know, when Carl said that far be it from us to stop the rumors, you know, And there were people close to Kyle that we're saying it and so I think everyone just assumed it was true. And it is pretty incredible. You know, in today's day and age. I'm just I'm not passing judgment. I'm just making a comment. There's people have no problem just making stuff up, you know, because they wanna be first. There used to be something called journalistic integrity, where you check multiple sources, and there's no consequence for being wrong these days. Well, you know, we took a shot. It's kinda like in broadcast are married. Goran used to say, you know. Called, you know. Take be bold Call a play. You know if it doesn't happen, no one will ever to remember. Well, that's how it is. Gotta be like with breaking news, social relationships and people were taking shots and we weren't going to stop it. And so this kind of moment, Um, came and people are saying it was coming out of our building..

Joins us courtesy of the room. A guest sign. Hi, John. You ever try avocado ice cream? And would you know if you okay? I like them separate. Yeah, you too. That's a good point does not sound good. Let's start with this. You've written some great pieces talking about the rules. We know. Seven inning doubleheaders is back. Run around. Second is back. But what do we need to know for the for the 2021 season as far as the rules Wow. Gosh, Where do we start on? Feel their off field. I mean, on the field. You're right. Seven Indian doubleheaders. Theo Extra inning rule where you go? I just Appears out of nowhere, and there's a second base to begin the 10th, 11th and 12. Old calves. No Universal D H for now, Um, which is really weird, Because when the last time any of these pictures have picked up a bat, and in spring training, how much time will they get in the cage? Probably none. You're going to see a lot of just standing and walking back to the dugout. And that's a bargaining chip. I mean, the reason we're not having a universal Dhmh last year, they said it was for health and safety right because you know that they wanted to limit the amount of time people. Hung out at the ballpark well, Pictures to hit. They have to get there early. So let's just wipe that out entirely have a universal B h. Plus, it wasn't about, you know, West teams playing in all West teams. It was about West Coast teams playing West Coast teams so Uh, there were no leagues really, until the very end. So there's there's no D H rule. And right now there's no um expanded playoffs. Oh, that hurts the Giants in a number of ways, because well, eh? Last year. They benefited because they were in the race all the way down to the final day, even though there were 29 31 because there were 16 playoff teams and now until further notice, there are 10, which in a division with San Diego in L. A Uh, doesn't look good to put it. Mildly with with with with DHS. I mean, hey, they got four second basement so they would have loved to have the extra man in the line up to it so we might see a trade. With one of these guys or I mean it was a way to put Wilmer floors in there, Darren rough guys who aren't necessarily elite defensive players. All right. I think the last to the first two that you mentioned is seven inning double headers and the runner at second that's already been agreed to. The other ones are obviously negotiating chips because, two weeks ago as you wrote, the owners proposed expanded playoffs and the universal th table the Universal G H over here for a minute. I think they expanded playoffs is really key. And I you know you're you're mentioned it. I think it's essential for the Giants chances to go to post season. If you go back to five, and you have just one division winner and two wild cards last year was two teams in each division plus two extras. So it was 16. Eight in each league. And what I read is 14. Howard 14 work, John. And would you just, You know one wild card? Why would it be configured differently? How would that work? And ultimately, what do you think the endgame is? And when do we find out? Do we find out by opening day? What's going on here? Yeah. Probably be three wild card because you have Six division winners. Um and you know, three plus three. Uh, that's uh, well, that's only 12. Yeah, the two the two 6 12? Yes. So maybe one wildcard in each of the top two teams, you know, either way. That's what the owners proposed, and last year was 16..

Was a swing and there's a drive deep into right field way back there, and it is gone on Mike Trout. Never Enters the picture in the ninth inning. Tommy list, Stella hits a home run over that now. Lower right field wall. And so it has happened again to Trevor God. John Miller on the call. That was August 17th time us. Stella with the walk off when he was of the Angels moves over to the A's, and now he crosses the bridge and he is a member. Of the Giants, and Tommy joins us, courtesy of the My guess line. First of all, Tommy. Thanks for joining us. Welcome. Well, you've already been in the bay, so welcome crossing the bridge over to San Francisco. My first question is so when spring training starts do you go up to Trevor gotten? Go Sorry about that, bro. Or is it just It happens, man, You've got some great stuff, and I'll be honest. All I was trying to do. There was not bouncing. You don't play with Mike on deck so Lucky You got one in the air, but, yeah, he's got a great stuff. Congratulations to you. And welcome to the Bay Area, And we remember that fateful Monday night. Well, when you hit the walk off, and that was a pitch, you know, down a little bit in the strike zone. I do want to start with your your contract and mainly The annual donations you're going to make to the Giants Community Fund. I mean 10,000 his first year 26 250 and 2022 57,500. Right away. And like your contract, it does stair step up. Just tell me about why that was important for you to do right out of the chute, Tommy. Sure. Yeah, well, the team approached me with it. Um, and I knew immediately have something. I want to be a part of it. Maybe I don't have all the details yet is Theo you know where the funds are gonna be going, But I am looking forward to being involved in Um, connecting with the people who are going to be spearheading these efforts and learning more about it. Formula. Stella joining us one of the newest giants, so it must be nice for you, though you did come over in a trade, obviously, from the angels to the AIDS, so I don't know how settled you got, But then all you have to do now is is cross the bridge. How nice is that? Yeah, that's great. I love the area. Um, unfortunately, last year didn't get to see as much of it is I would've hoped, But you know, coming over here over the years being the National League always really enjoyed the area. We'll get an opportunity to explore it a little bit more, but, yeah, I'm really excited about No ace fans were crushed. That whole week is Marcus Semien and just last right around the same time to go play for the Blue Jays, and I think the A's fans were hoping because they enjoyed what you did there and saw you Against them with the Angels in the American League West. Did you have any conversation with with Billy and a force their bars far customers coming back to the ace? Um During the all cities and, you know, I left that just tol my agent, But after the season had ended with spoken briefly, just be a text. Um they thanked me and You said that they would love to have me and you know that we would be in touch as far as you know any offseason contact Now, that was pretty much just left my agent. So tell me, what do you envision is as your role with the Giants. Yeah. Hopefully, a little bit of everything. Hopefully somebody you can play multiple positions. Um, get on base. Oddball little bit, Um, keep the ball in play. Keep the strikeout slow, I think His party. You guys in the lineup who have been around for a long time. Got a lot of success, so hopefully something of the table center for those guys. Firing was saying with the Brandon Belt surgery on the hell he may not be able to make opening day and he mentioned your ability to play first base. You can play obviously second base and you can play. Third. How much shortstop have you played and your your career and is second base your best and most natural position. Um It's tough to say I I really feel comfortable at 1st 2nd and 3rd. I hadn't played My short. Um, but, yeah, I'm comfortable with the other three positions. On. Do you know, flipping over the first base? If friends not ready to goes, certainly won't be a problem. Formula. Stella's Jonas News giant here on the SportsCenter. So a couple of things Farhaan Anxiety, definitely said that he was absolutely obsessed with your strikeout to walk right, which he absolutely loves. But he also said yesterday that you and Gabe Kapler hit it off so well that he's worried you're going to cut into his phone time with Gabe Capital. So what was what Z? What was what was the reason why you would engage got off so well? Man. He's Ah, yeah, I really enjoyed talking to him. We had a couple lengthy conversations, um, on a number of things, but He's very thoughtful. Um, he's a progressive thinker, which which I like and Give you something a little bit differently And ultimately for me, it was You know, some of the I felt like I could learn from and that was important in this decision for me. Hey, not sitting really Well, if your times I've interacted with him, he's really impressive that way, So he's gonna help you as a hitter, But you're already a really good hitter. And John mentioned the strikeout to walk ratio is just really impressive. You don't you know the modern game is just let it Let it fly. And you don't worry so much about strikeouts, But your hand eye coordination. Your ability to put the ball in play is so impressive, but you know, a few years ago in 2019 with the Angels you did hit 16 home runs and you know when you add it all up last year, double digits as well. So do you feel like, you know, being around Gabe and the way that they teach hitting here? You're not going to lose any of the you know, contact ability, but you'll be able to drive the ball even a little bit more. Just give me your thoughts about that. That balance between not striking out putting the ball in play but still having the ability to strike back and hit the ball out of the ballpark. Yeah, I certainly hope so. I think for me, I kind of let the flow of the at bat dictate my approach. Um, and also the guy on the mound and the situation. Um, it doesn't always feel like every That is a time to try and drive the ball. Um not that I'm not trying to do that. But I do like the count and the game situation kind of dictates What? I'm going to take a shot like that, Um, guys out there. He's got good stuff. I don't see the ball particularly well out of his hand. You know, I don't see it benefiting me to be taking on a swing and trying to drive the ball. I think the likelihood of that starts toe to go down in those situations. So in those instances, I'm more looking to put the bat on the ball. Barrel it and hopefully find the outfield grass somewhere. But I also think that you know an advantage counts being able to pick my moments and get my a swing off and you know, being able to play every day over the last two years has allowed me to get back to that. I think you know pinch hitting for those four years in Chicago was definitely a different approach. But Being able to be out there every day getting 45 babies. Had had help with that. We're speaking with Tommy Lowe. Stella signed with the Giants officially yesterday. What was it like out there in a pandemic being a free agent, and then I would assume you want to get things going. Obviously, there's discussions of may be pushing things back, which, what's your view on on one baseball is gonna get going. I mean, also, we were on track. You know all that stuff about my pay grade, but, you know, hopefully we're good to go. I'd say you know, this offseason was Difficult just with, you know all the uncertainty,.

Well, despite the weather on this Thursday pop in London, Nick Wagner, our pal It was the 40 Niners for ESPN at in Wagner. You've got to be reading his stuff to stay up to date on everything that's going on and Nick. We just wanted to have you come on and talk about the re signing of Jeff Wilson Junior. That's a big one. Anything else going on? Nothing else going on in the world. The 40 Niners right now. All is always calm, right? Oh, yeah. Everything's calm. You know nothing. Nothing is going on. Man, so I don't know where we start. But let's just start. You've written some good stuff about the Shawn Watson. Just give us your thoughts before we get into the 40 Niners angle on this A Zafar as you know, and I know you talked to a lot of people around the league. He did formally request to be traded today. Do you think the Texans will do it when they play hardball? What's your view? Just first of what happens as far as Tucson Watson? Does. He stay? Does he go guys? I always kind of start here when it comes to this type of situation. In general when a star player wants to be traded, no matter the sport. Usually it happens now, if there's some sort of wiggle room there and he could be talked into staying and those types of things I don't know this you're not watching. I just know what others have reported and Adam Schefter. Our Adam Schefter has done a great job of kind of making it clear that he's been pretty resolute on this. And so you could say, Yeah, The Texans shouldn't trade him. And I agree with that The Texas should not trade to shot watching the player of that caliber. If he really wants out, and he wants nothing to do with you. It doesn't do you any good to have him sitting there paying find and not playing because is still at the end of the day. A great asset. If you do trade him and a NASA, quite frankly, guys that we've never seen available before, so the price that they could get even with his no trade crop clause. Would think would be would be extravagant. And so to me. A lot of it depends on how much does the Shawn Watson want to exercise the leverage that he does have in terms of not only demanding the trade and possibly sitting out and getting fined and all that kind of thing, but also in his no trade clause and choosing his destination, And those are all kind of the moving pieces that go into that puzzle. But I would expect that if the Shawn Watson is set on getting trade at some point, and it may not be super soon, it's probably gonna happen. Yeah, Under your point. There have been quarterbacks. Obviously, that I pulled a power play as they were being drafted. John Elway for one, Eli manning another. But once you're drafted and you're on a roster, they can franchise tag. You and guys just don't hit the streets like this. So You know Matthew Stafford's available. We know that we'll find out about to Sean. We also have a really good On Deep quarterback draft class this year, which forever Lawrence. Going number one. We think that Zack Wilson, Justin feels Trey Lance Mark Mack Jones. There's a bunch of them that are really interesting. So I go back to Kyle Shanahan, and I don't think it was is very last press conference. Neck, but it was late in the year and it was obviously pushing him out, Jimmy and he said. Uh, You have to have somebody way better. To replace Jimmy with and I think I think we'd all agree that both Matthew Stafford and Shawn Watson would be categorized his way better. But they're gonna call they're gonna They're gonna be different price tags to get Get each to Sean, you're gonna have to over pay. I think you could get Stafford for a reasonable price here as well as you know, John Lynch and Kyle. Which door if they if they I think they'll be more quarterbacks available as we go here with all the draft dominos little fall, But if you had to pick a door Would it be just Shawn's younger, a better athlete, all that. But Stafford is a hell of a good player as well. You'd have to give up so much to get to Sean versus less, I think for Stafford Which which way do you think that they're you know is they're doing there until right now, and they're looking into both of them. Which one? Do you do You think they would lean more towards Yeah, I think if you're just looking at it, realistically, you have to say the Stafford. One is probably the one that makes the most sense. But I think the Watson thing is fascinating for a couple of reasons. First of all his price tag for next season. What? What a team. Acquiring him and trade is salary cap number would be about $10 million. If you move off of Jimmy Garoppolo to the Shawn Watson just in terms of finances and cost you're saving somewhere around $15 million. That's a big chunk of money that you could put towards, say, re signing Trent Williams and then still have a little bit to your cap crunch. Is in his bed, so there's a huge benefit that way. The Shawn Watson is 25. I think we would all agree, as you just said that, while both of those guys are upgrades to Shawn Watson is a much bigger upgrade compared to what Matthew Stafford would bring, and he's only 25. He's the kind of guy that could be your quarterback for the very, very long term, So I think they look into Watson as much as they can. But To me. I wrote this the other day. There's really only one scenario and kind of a one A one B scenario in which Watson seems realistic for the 40 Niners because they have first round draft picks that they can trade. They have star players that they could control. But if they get into a bidding war and to Shawn Watson is willing to go to say the Jets or the Dolphins. Those types of teams that have multiple first round picks and first round picks that are in the top five. I don't know that the 40. Niners could compete with that unless they're really willing to come off some of their star players, and I don't get the feeling there's much of an appetite for doing that kind of thing, So I think the Washington the on Lee way it could happen is if he said I'm demanding this trade and using my no trade clause to steer myself specifically to the 40 Niners or if it was some sort of a short list that the Niners were on, and the other teams that were on it. Didn't have more than that. The night that the Niners could offer, which I think all leads to the conclusion that Matthew Stafford is a more realistic target for the 40 Niners. I think he's a good fit. I think if you look at his price tag, it's not as cheap as to Shawn Watson. But even if you wanted to extend him, you could maybe do that and lower his cap number for 2021. I go back to the Carson Palmer trade, you know, back when the Raiders acquired Carson Palmer. I know you remember that pop pretty well. Yeah, vaguely Think I almost spit. You don't you can't even believe what that day was like when they traded to 181..

"Our v A. V. Goodyear Hotline. John Lund. Aaron Goldhammer kept quick update on the NFC championship game Buccaneers and Tom Brady lied Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. 14 to 10. It could be tied at 14 Davante Adams with a rare drop in the end zone on the Packers last possession and then a third down stop by the Packers gets them the ball back, so they're deep in their own territory, but two minutes left You pointed this out Aaron. They could double up here. If they could get a score here. They get the second half kickoff, right. They have two time outs and the two minute warning, but they're starting deep in their own territory. Red zone is a big difference in this game. Tampa has scored when they've gotten down there touchdowns both times. And the Packers, of course, had the three place to Davante Adams that they couldn't convert for a touchdown and they had to settle for a field goal. So that's the difference in the game. The other big thing I'm looking at here seven for nine on third down Tampa in the first half. Mike Patton in the Green Bay Defense, John They're gonna have to make some third down adjustments and get off the field a little bit more. A couple of those were third and longs and I know it's tough against Tom Brady. But Campus. Ability to convert on third down has been a huge difference so far in this first half lives. No doubt that you can. You don't even have to look at the scoreboard. If you look at third downs, if you look at red zones, and if you could look at big plays, if you add those up, and one team is dominant over another. You're gonna win the football game, an interesting situation to the Packers. The Buccaneers could have called the time out there and they could've got the ball back, but it looks like they're not going to the Packers will continue. We'll keep you up to date on the game. It will also continue to talk about the A F C championship game later on between the bills. And the Kansas City Chiefs from Arrowhead Stadium. But we're having a conversation earlier, the Miami heat. I don't know how this technology works. I have no idea. Dogs are incredible. So the Miami Heat claimed they have dogs that can sniff. For covert 19 no idea how this works. Sniffer, covert 19th. So the question is What would it take to get you back into an arena in a stadium? Are you already ready to go? Are you waiting for the vaccine? Are you waiting for others to go? Are you waiting for dogs who could sniff covert 19? How would you? How would you phrase where you are, As far as if you could go back in with the masses that you would go well in Cleveland? It's very different than where you are in San Francisco, John because here we're letting fans into the basketball arena about 2500. And we went through a brown season where there were fans at every single game, But I have not been to a sporting event since the beginning of the pandemic for everybody. This is different, right? Everybody sees this thing differently. Everybody's a different age. They come into contact with different people. Their level of risk is totally different. John for me. I've got to get the two doses of the vaccine before I'm going back to these games. And I think that owners realize that there is enough. There are enough people that were willing to risk it, especially outdoors. But the tricky thing for the heat for for these inside NBA games is I don't care how good the ventilation is. Just my constitution. My insides tell me that being outside is safer for covert than being inside and to go to a mass event like this indoors here. I'm probably wait until I get two doses of vaccine before I'm mask up and go back to an NBA game as much as I miss it as much as I want to be there I have. I have been too numerous 40 Niners game. It's I Dupri in post game for the 40 Niners out here in the Bay Area, and it is the weirdest thing ever to be in a game in which it's a professional game, and there are no fans. It feels like a scrimmage. There is no Mo mentum one way or the other one. A team makes a big score. They scored on a 76 yard touchdown. And it didn't matter that there was fake noise and all these kind of things early in the season, there was no Mo mentum. The Arizona Cardinals came back. No problem. There is no intimidation factor, and I don't care If there's a small amount of fans and you're pumping a bunch of noise in in Kansas City today, it would be vastly different. If you had a bunch of lubed up people going into Arrowhead, save him and screaming their heads off and doing the chance and all the different things that they do. It's just vastly different. What happens with the opposition is and I've done it in MBA arenas have been there, too. Just there's no intimidation. You go on a 10 hour run. No problem. We're fine. It's like you're just you're playing in a neutral site, with with no energy or momentum going either way, and sometimes it takes the home team to wake up for a minute. At least it did early in the NFL season to say we make a big play. There's no momentum. We've got to continue this. It's going to be all on us. That's been the most difficult part. Would go to an outdoor arena and feel pretty well about it, depending obviously on what the parameters were indoor arenas like you just said I'm not there yet. Yeah, I'm not. I'm not there yet for an indoor arena because they've told you that the outside and for obvious reasons. You're less likely so outside arenas I would start to feel comfortable inside. Aries is gonna take me a while. Dogs are just the best. How can a dog sniff you and be able to sense that you have the that is amazing to me. And I wonder like if there's a certain part of your body that exudes the scent, so like do you like if it's your face, like do you have to get down on the floor so that the dog can sniff your face before they'd let you in the building that Z. I gotta see how these dogs the covert sniffing dogs work. I got to see that in action, but apparently it's it's for real. The other part of this, you brought up Especially for the N B, a in the NFL the reason to go to the game. Isn't just to witness it in person. It's to witness it in person with 60,000 of your closest friends, so they want to feel that energy that Horsing vibe that you get out of the walk off home run. Just got hit. Right for the big touchdown pass just got thrown or LeBron on the breakaway throws down that Duncan. Everybody like rises as one and I would think that to be in these vast arenas with just a couple of people. I would almost rather watch it at home, then be there in person, because it feels that could be just a constant reminder of the pandemic. Trust me. I have enough reminders in my life of what's going on this country right now. I don't need another one game be on ESPN Radio and the ESPN app. When would you go back into an arena in Miami? The heat have Covert 19 sniffing dogs. I just know this. I am honestly I want to go to anything and I'm telling you, I'm not sure I want to go to a concert. You know what? I'm not gonna lie to you early in this whole process. I invited my ex wife over. That's how desperate I was to have some sort of adult interaction. And everybody who has kids at home schooling right now knows exactly. I just want to talk to adults. Even if she screams at me and tells me what a loser I am. Any kind of interaction, and I'm still nervous to go to a game right now. Not sure. Oh, I am. So that's where I am right. I've had days. I've had days like that, too. Haven't we all gave me on ESPN radio on the ESPN app coming up. We gotta look at the AMC championship game. We'll update you. It's almost half time in the NFC championship game in the A F. C. "Unite Greg, Papa and John Lund. Continue here. Them on your Google home. Smart speaker by saying play, Okay, NPR. Friends Mike Pereira, and about 10 55. He had a great tweet yesterday where after he had finished, he asked if he was gay. He thought to himself. He's gonna watch the next game or is he gonna sit on the beach and drink vodka? And I think, sit on the beach and drank vodka is probably What he did, but we'll find out in about 10 55 carnal, eternal 11 30. The lawyers sweep the weekend in very different fashion. They come back against the Clippers they hold on against the Raptors. Steph was really good in one game and struggled in the Next to We'll get into that and get into the warriors at the 10 game Mark and then our pal Dante Whitner is going to join us to talk everything he saw about the playoffs. Plus, he's going to be far more interested in what happens tonight. Uh, yes. The Buckeyes in the Crimson died, and I'm gonna shoot again because Dante is from the Ohio State University. But I think in this sake of equal time because we don't care who wins this game tonight. I'll be watching for the draft eligible. Certainly think I'm gonna shoot an email to our friend Eli Gold, the voice of the Alabama Crimson tide and maybe get him on. Maybe right after Dante me, Jalen Waddle. He's the one guy on their chain that I thought was possibly I thought, you know, I just Sherry Judy's just another. Level and he proved out to be really underwhelming as a rookie, but I'll get better, but I got bottle was maybe better than him. They get Jalen waddled back off the ankle injury along with Devante Smith. I mean, if your state You're worried about it. I thought Jalen Ronald heading into the year. John was a better wide receiver. But how they gotta stop Alabama from scoring. Their offense is incredible. Yeah, the only I think the only chance they have is if Justin Fields is what he was against Clemson. Me. That's why he has to be. I mean, they both got great offensive players, but What Alabama like you said has is unbelievable. Plus, I know this is boring to talk about for fans, but There's probably five or six offensive lineman between Alabama Ohio State, They're gonna go say top. There always is great this year old. These offensive lines are really good. So Something to look for tonight for? Yeah, There's so much talent on the field tonight. I'm excited. I love that. We get six games over the weekend, and then we get a national championship on Monday. It's amazing. I think it's shit without question. The three best days of football viewing ever. I mean to have three Playoff games and Saturday come back with three more on Sunday and then on Monday in a roll out a BCS national championship game, College football and I'm the college football season's weird but these clean chemical the argument. These are not the two best teams. Especially after what Ohio State did to Clemson. So in Alabama's just every year, you think that's the best Alabama team I've ever seen. And now this team with Mack Jones a quarterback, and now she Harris to run cross check with a huge piece on him over the weekend in the Chronicle. D telling him and he's got his far is yards from scrimmage. He's passed him all. Shaun Alexander, Bobby Humphrey, Mark Ingram, Derrick Henry Trent Richardson T. J. Yeldon. He sees the He's the best running back in the history of Alabama. I'm not leaving, you know, getting going back to when he was younger Chess. Jacobs was a better player out of the adult translate into the NFL. But natural Harris is really matured and becoming a big part. So we'll be watching him. He's a bear you guy from any act. Last game, Chris Babcock and the money Vista Mustang. Shut him down. Kinda. They beat him, but it was it was a shootout, but anyway Um So did you watch the Nickelodeon broadcast it all? Yes. Did you get slimed? You know my seat to watch. You know what's interesting about it. I didn't have any idea. Error. At least I had for gotten, and then George comes over and he was watching it on his phone, and he was laughing. They said, What do you watch? And he said, I'm watching the broadcast on Nickelodeon. So we threw it on. And first of all, I thought that no eagle And especially Nate Burleson were so good because obviously it's a totally different audience and make references. So when something happens, it's pretty elementary. What you say, and they're making references like well, It's like it. Recess or it's like when you have detention or like and then the slime touchdowns and the little Sheldon coming up When you know, though, it's offsides. What does that mean? I mean, I think it's genius. I don't know how much it'll help. I don't know what the ratings will be on it, but you know for for kids teaches them the game. I don't know if it'll end up working, but I thought it was. It was a pretty good idea. And I thought it was kind of funny, too. Who was the young lady that was in the middle of no ego? And Nate Burleson? She on the entire game, or just the one part that I watched, you know, she was on the whole time except for half time in the you know, they were kind of breaking down what was happening, But I think she was probably some Nickelodeon personality that they some of the kids relate to. I didn't mean she obviously didn't have much, but it was. I mean, I thought it was pretty ingenious to give it a shot, Would you? Yeah, they're trying to grow an audience there. Which tells you that the NFL is worried about you know, young people aren't playing football out of high school programs getting scrapped and Because of the concussion situation. It's just you got to reach out to him in a younger way. If they're not going to actually gonna be playing it so that they talked about it a lot. And you know, Sean Payton got slimed after they won the game, and there was a lot of fun elements to it. The bottom line is I don't know if you saw the numbers, but NFL ratings were down. They were down a lot this year 7%. Some of the shows were down more. The only time I can recall the ratings going down was the 2016 year, and it also spilled in 17. The presidential election was a big part of that, Colin capper, Nick and him demonstrating of like it or not, people, the ratings went down. I don't know why they went down this year. You would think that they would go up. In light of our all you know, quarantine, less people. The stadium I don't know why I'm in the N B. A. You could have an understanding why the numbers went down. Baseball stood well compared to the NBA, but football's got to be a concern. My football one down the one thing I would ask Mike Pereira..

"Lot of reasons. I You know, I could sit here for an hour and talk about a lot of, you know, all the reasons that that I really want to be a giant, but, um, you know around great people is definitely the one that sticks out to me. You gotta love it due to know some of the people on the staff and you know you mentioned, Of course, Kappler in Tampa's, we said, and There's another guy Scott wanted Peralta, who is it was really, really good for the Giants last year, so he's got at least I guess there's three guys now. Gossman Wandy Andy Sclafani disco finally caught last year in Cincinnati, So he's familiar with some of the staff. I guess he wasn't there when Johnny Cueto it's been a while since he was a red, So he wasn't there when he was there, But he also was teammates with Evan Longoria in Tampa, which is a great day anyway. He talked yesterday a little bit more. He was actually home with Papa blood yesterday morning. He talked a little bit more about his relationship with some of the pictures and the guys that he's caught and how he thinks it's pretty good fit. That was also a positive. You know, I definitely having Haven't caught those guys is is an advantage. I think you know less of a of a learning curve, and it will be a learning curve. It's just it's I've you know, I spent three years getting to know. Ah, very, you know, specific staff of pictures and Cincinnati and and I Iove the Giants, the same amount of attention that I put into them so I'm definitely looking forward to it. And you know all three of those guys that you mentioned are you know great friends of mine. In addition, Torto you know Sam film and who have also caught him never caught bt But you know, looking forward to all those exciting opportunities for sure. I'm sure that Sam Selman, who's got a parental when they're good, strike out numbers for seven. It is my early career hard throwing lefty. So that's a guy who we could see it the big league level again this year as well. So yeah, shouting dudes out Tyler Beatty, another Vandy guy, who he said he hasn't caught but could be an important part of the rotation that your Giants probably still have to go get another name. Not a big name, necessarily, but they need to get a pitcher who's gonna be locked up. I was looking at tradition Tol, you know Sam some and carry Crowley's article from yesterday on on Kirky. Sally talks about how after this season almost every Giants pitcher, I think Most of the starters right now in the rotation disco funnies on a one year Johnny Cueto's contract will be up after this year and Kevin Gausman he's on that qualifying offer. So three or your top three guys in the rotation right now are free agents at the end of this year Might do you some good to have somebody who's locked up longer than 2000 and 21, So we'll see what happens because your salary will be a part of that get to know him. Also, he was asked because he got Trevor Bauer, of course. Last year in Cincinnati, John Lund asked him if he was going to Try to recruit Trevor Bauer to come here and he said quote. I've certainly let him know that I signed with the Giants. So you know if you're looking for Trevor Bowers show up, it's gonna be a big contract for a guy who had a career year, albeit in a 60 game season, But Caselli heaped praise on Bauer said that he was maybe more prepared than anybody has ever caught. He's an analytics based guy extremely smart. He likes leaving the pregame meeting, so You can deal with his want to call them and takes with his personality. He's a pretty good guy. It seems like to have on your roster. But again, he's rubbed a lot of people the wrong way in his short, big league career. The other thing about well, we'll get to that on the other side. Anyway, we're gonna make the connection with Murph in back on the other side will get rolling on the can be our morning show. It's all coming up. It's a Wednesday morning came here one of 45 and 6 80. You're listening to the sports leader. Up early working out. Listen to the leadoff spot on your Amazon Echo. Smart speaker..

"And, uh, that's all I really have to say about it, because I'm just gonna go with the guy that took us to a Super Bowl and play the high level of the entire year. So that's my case of Jimmy G nine. I think it's a decent one. A lot of people that are starting to use phrases like injury prone because he struggled to stay on the field. A lot of people in your locker room have so I've always sort of said Gosh, how can you label anyone Injury prone? It's the NFL. Everybody gets hurt, seemingly all the time. How do you guys Think about that particular subject because I know some of you also do take it as a personal thing to find a way to stay on the field. Well, I mean, yeah. I mean, the best ability and football is availability. And so when you're not playing, it does suck. And you know, I don't really have an answer Is that how we had so many injuries this year? I really think it's just a stroke of bad luck. And because I think our performance after our training staff does a fantastic job is concerned, you know. Two years ago, and compared you know my college experience and I think that, um, like I said, I think it's just it's a fortunate it bad luck. Just amount of injuries high ankle sprain. No injuries that we've had, and, um, you know, to an extent, there's some that you can prevent know whether it's the soft tissue stuff. But there's only so much you can do to prevent a broken bone and high ankle sprain, so I don't know what people you know. I don't I don't really understand. People come out the training staff for that, but I think they do a great job of getting guys back on the field as quickly as they can You call my attention this week, when when you guys beat the cardinals, and that helped out the Bears, and you sort of referenced your fandom for the Bears when you were younger, because I've often wondered that like, if you become a professional athlete, do you lose your childhood fandom of other teams? And you don't hear guys talk about it a lot. But maybe you opened the door to that that conversation like Are you still Hand of teams that you used to root for when you were little. Yes, of course. I mean, I grew up in the Midwest Group in Iowa and my special teams, the Cubs and the bears My two teams, and so always be a A bears fan. You know, maybe not as much now as I used to be, But I still bring a smile on my face and catches up here and there and you guys have so many free agent. So you sort of bracing yourself just with personal relationships that maybe Moving on. Inevitably, you know, one day I'm learning about football. You know the amount of changes that happened on a yearly basis, and now I understand that we do have a bunch of free agent. You have a lot of guys that deserve to get paid a lot of money. And I, you know, I get that we obviously can't do that, especially the salary cap drop in. And, um I hope that there's a way to figure out how we keep you know the core guys, and I think that Z In the back. I said, I just work here in the hard decisions up to John and Kyle. And, um I'm just gonna try to play my best football playing high level every single day and just kind of They should that is required of my teammates as well. So I just know that whoever we do, you know, stood up and never lines of Maxime will be planted a high level regardless of food is there you go. There is George Kendall giving you some insight on why he played last week. Why he wants Jimmy back. Why he played the snaps. He said he could actually play the next day was on with the Mark Willard. "It's been great. No, we put in a lot of work throughout the week and just go out here and execute at a high level. It's been amazing for our group as our unit as a defense, you know, just to go out here and execute. Khazanah details. Guys are making plays so excited for spoon man. He'd been through a lot since his whole career here, you know, being criticized know that but he just come to work every day. You know, he just put his hands down. Just get to work, and it just paid off. I just so happy. Just put him out there making big plays for us, but it was amazing. Welcome back to the written gold wrapped Larry Krueger. John Lund, Dennis Brown after nine or football's would take your calls here, date away Camp Er, that was K. Juan Williams. What? Of what a football player. He is Man, Undersized, slot corner. Uh, you know, you know if you're just looking at him, you don't go. Wow, There's a there's an incredible player, but he's great against the run. He's great against the past. Um he competitive his hellish out hits his body's toughest. Hell really is. You can do it as a blitz, or you could do it in coverage. You can do it against the run. Really an incredible football player and he is, you know he is special, and that was him coming back, and he's talking about spoon. He's talked about a killer. Weatherspoon, who's had a horrendous run with the Niners since they drafted amount of Colorado but a pick today a tackle for a lost seven tackles. He's got some dominant traits. He's long and he's physical and he has to do it all the time. But, man, he did it in this game. He was terrific. So was tar various more. So was Marcel Harris. So was Jason Moret. The secondary rose up the linebackers or just fast Armstead and Green Lawn. All right, that arms have a green lawn. When Warner and Ash a year I meant to say, just flying all over the place and up front. They got it done as well. So man, the 40 Niner defense, a collective effort across the board. We're taking some of your calls here. But, guys, you know, it's funny. Um, you know, I'm thinking of this list. You know, the Who's the priority free agent to resign? If if if you'd only have one, and, you know, Sadly, Jeff Wilson is gonna be down the list for me because Hey, Juan, Dg Jones, Huse check and Brett Plame or priority positions and seems like the Shanahan error. You've always been able to find running backs. But, man of all the Niner backs. I just love the way Wilson runs me just runs with such power. Such force. Um, you know, he had an explosive run today runs So hard. He runs through arm tackles. Really, really impressed by him. I hope they can retain him will be interesting to see what kind of market there is for him. But, wow, I mean, he he's a joy to watch because he doesn't He never seems like he goes down easily. Yeah, he really is. And you know, like I said, he hits the whole fast. He's always he's downhill and he looks so smooth what he's doing. He's very patient. He kind of slipped himself into some of these small little gaps you saw today and some of those stretch plays, and once he sees that he's got that vision. He just hits it and he's gone, and he's always kind of been, You know, he's been kind of a touchdown machine for the 49, especially in the red Zone. He was a guy they the 40 Niners kind of relied on the kind of punched the ball in On Dat newest New England game. You saw him? He's just at his best. And today I mean, was it 180 83 yards he had in the football e for 200 total yards. Yeah, and all purpose yards. I mean, that is huge for running back 183 yards, just running up and down the football field, so I hope they can retain him. But again, this is how you build your resume, and this is what other teams look at and you know, and you open up the market for yourself when you put up 183 yards running the football I think he just set the tone early. I mean, of all the guys, I mean, seriously, we could. We could give so many credit, but I think he set the tone early with style that that he ran, and I think that her again. I think Arizona just said, Well, this is gonna be an easy mark. These guys were in a bad season. They're having a you're gonna have their practice down here in Arizona. They got a Tony injuries. We're just gonna run all over. These guys. CJ better. It's no good. And I thought right from the start Jeff Wilson Junior in the way that he ran the way the offensive line block. Hey, it would get into the 2nd 3rd levels and he was just knocking guys down, and I thought it said it early and again and opened everything up for TJ better. It made things really easy. Didn't have to throw the ball it on. They didn't fall behind. And you know of all the guys. We talked about the way that Jeff Wilson ran was the key to the whole thing. He's a restricted free agent. They'll have to put a tender on him. They're gonna have to put a high tender on him because he's had some games against teams in division he's ran hard against Seattle. He's running hard against Arizona. Look, if I'm one of the teams in the division, and I'm looking for a black member in Seattle, Chris Carson's a free agent, he's a Chris Carson type of a runner. He runs hard. That's a Seattle style. I guarantee you that if you put some low round tender, some 4th 5th kind of a tender On Jefferson Junior he's gonna wear in Seahawks colors next year. Have years and back Ville. He's played JC Ball. He's with us on the sports leader..
