"The dave ramsey show. Can you hear me all right absolutely. what's up. i'm not much. Thank you so much for having me on. I just one thing. I wanted to say that i listened to your show for about a year now and you always say when someone asks you how you are better than not something i say now and i think that's a really good job so i wanted to thank you start first off. Thank you sir. How can we help So i try and keep it short as possible but logan of a complicated story. It's not so much about Finance but more by relationship with my parents and some stuff that's been going on So at the start of twenty nineteen My parents told me that they were getting a divorce. And over the next year or so i guess they started seeing some other people And then this summer so mean. I'm like university on throughout the year. So i wasn't really there Like for like last year like the school year so anyways My parents are now both seeing new people and They're both like moved. My dad's moved to use his new like stop. Mom and i recently found out that my mom had back in two thousand and eight and as well as she was cheating on guy that she's currently seeing With my dad before the divorce and that's why the divorce Ended up happening and my dad told me this on. My mom doesn't know that. I know this and throughout the summer. I'm back from school throughout the summer months and was planning splitting fifty-fifty zoo houses the only vote she walks away or in the same town But whenever she is that guy over. I can't really stand kind of see him moms know that i know that she cheat on him. I don't really know what to do. Because my dad has gone through a lot through like divorce process and my mom kind like millions tree tennessee. Well and i want to kind of approach my mom trying to mend the relationship because now on whenever i see here i'm just kind of hurting broken. And just like. Whenever i see you're just like fingerprint. All done. i can't even look the same. And i love my moment. I wanna make the relationship. I don't i was gonna get some advice. Good how could do that so sad. I'm certainly hard. I'm sorry yeah ideas. Yeah it's interesting. There's a weird dynamic win in anything. I think your parents make choices different than you. And this is obviously an extreme. That's really disappointing. But i think we had this weird experiences as adult children of parents making decisions. You don't agree with because you feel almost a little bit like will you. You wouldn't have done that but also your you know it's a reflection on you because it's your family it's your parents Mom and dad both have certainly made choices that i don't agree with I think the thing that has helped me. And i'm i'm not a counselor max but i'll tell you the thing that has helped me is just separating myself from that just saying that doesn't reflect me. That's not what i would do. I certainly don't agree with it but my mom is a grown woman. My dad has grown man. they can live their life. How they want to eat. You can talk to them. I you know. I think you can definitely there's a. There's room for open. Honest conversation about your hurts or whatever you're comfortable sharing with your mom in order to mend the relationship you definitely. I mean that harboring that. I don't know that that's going to be healthy for y'all to be able to move forward but i do think there's something important about separating yourself from that And not feeling like it's a reflection on you or your identity because of their choices. I don't know dave. I mean what would you say i it just. It's a hard time for you. I'm sorry I would recommend you if you're not in a good church in your area that you find one and you get some pastures around you. Some good strong men around you that are living life correctly The can help you walk through this and just walk beside you Because this is just a difficult thing. There's not a simple. It's not simple formula for a broken heart and in a sense this knowledge. If it's true if your dad's telling the truth It's true It breaks your heart. You know. I make sure it was your but you know part of a truthfully part all of us getting to be grownups as we figure out that our parents ain't perfect and we move on from that through. It's hard though. I mean that's a hard realization. Not saying it's easy saying it's easy. The other thing is let's pretend it is true. Okay and let's pretend that you sat down your mom and say hey. Dad told me this and this just gags me. This grosses me out. And i just gotta say that out loud. I don't know that you can you know no matter what her response. It doesn't become less true. It did happen and so there's anything that you can say or she can say that's gonna make it not have happened. Assuming it's true. Okay and arm and i don't know if it is not your dad's completely outline a malicious. If he had asked me should he tell you this. I would have said no. It's not his business to tell you this it was hurt. Business to china over. What happened was my sister. I've found some information on her phone. And i look through it. And i'm not talking about the mass. My dad home a little bit on your net told him what i ask your mother because i just didn't really want to go directly to. I wanted to go to my dad. I don't know why but at the same time like i want soccer. I want to tell her. But i think i think you probably don't need to be staying there. You need some physical distance and then you just say yeah you know there's parts of my mom that she's always gonna be my mom and i and there's parts of the stuff that she's done that i don't love and i love her. Anyway you know and And you know because the truth is it doesn't really affect you except to the extent that you wanted to hurt your feelings. It makes you mad at disappoint you but but in terms of does the does the situation actually affect you know. You're now grown man. You're in college and you're out of your parents house and they're both running off in different directions and so you just gonna love them where they are as what i would say but i think you need to get a good good pasture in your corner. that walk with you and guide you on this i. I'm personally honor. Neither one counselor. Dr john lonnie's not here today. So you know. We're filling in for him. I guess but But you know those are just. I guess life things from people. The we coach people on life all the time about all kinds of different things. So there's just some ideas but I think john would probably say first thing you need to do is stopping grieve. The fact that you're illusion illusionary picture of your the perfection of your parents is now shattered. Both of them Neither one of our perfect turns out and You know what was wrong in the marriage that that you know your dad didn't deal with that Put your mom in a position. She felt like she needed to do that. You know i. It's not saying she's a victim but obviously the marriage not healthy for a lot of reasons. I think two things can be true to you. Can you can grieve that that happened. And your parents aren't perfect and you can.

"Learn more about that ATP, Kim Slash, John, and we will talk to you next week. Now, the show is over, they didn't even mean to begin. It was accidental. Accidental John. Lonnie Research Margolin Casey wouldn't let him because it was accidental. was accidental. And you can find the show today. Dot. Twitter. Follow them. S He wa L. I assess that's Casey lists and. CEO Ram. Anti Marco Arment. Are. Syracuse. New. York. A. So, Alex killing wrote in and I think this was supposed to be an ASCII question but we wanted to move it to a asked neutral question. Alex Thing now Alex. asked she was asking about General stickshift driving techniques and advice and I don't have the actual letter written to us. But basically, how do you drive a stick I could answer this question and then John will explain that everything I've said is wrong if it wouldn't be. So let me just cut to the chase and ask, John, how do you drive a stick? You're not GonNa, you can chime in on these bullet points I feel like we can all chime in on them. We've all driven stick I wasn't directly from her thing I just listed a bunch of because she was just you know asking journal but this is my list of things that people talk about driving second maybe I left off but just chime in go ahead. Tell us what you think about all the points all. Right. So to start, how do you learn They're very very different ideas about how to do it but I, only taught a couple of people to be honest with you. But what I like is starting out without using the gas at all. So you're stopped dead you using your left foot. Of course, you slowly come off the clutch until you see or indoor feel or hear the engine starts to bog a little bit because. The clutch is starting to pick up and then you push the pedal all the way back down do that again to feel where it is the clutch starting to grab and you do that a whole bunch of times just not even intending to move. You know hopefully you're on a flat surface and you're just kind of staying still and you're getting a feel for where the clutch is really grabbing then you do the same. Thing extremely slowly but eventually let yourself get to a role. So you're eventually all the way off the clutch and then you stop and you do that again and you do it super slowly a whole crapload of times, and then once you get a feel for how that works just make it faster simple right that's all you gotta do and that's that's how I liked just do just learning how to get going The other well, it used to be pro tip, but not as much anymore because of electronic parking brakes. But the other thing you can do is if you're ever on a hill and need to take off particularly if you're in a front wheel drive car, which most are, then you can use your hand to hold you where you are while you're doing the whole dance with your feet and then released the handbrake with your hand. Once you start to creep forward That is a very neat trick that I didn't know for a long time and I wish I had known when I was first learning but in terms of technique and advice. I, am a big believer in John's first bullet here, which is downshifting engine braking. So what that means is, as you're approaching, say a stop light you would in, let's say you're in I don't know fourth because just around town as you're pushing the stop light and you see it's red downshift into third and then come completely off the gas and. What does it? The compression of the engine will force the engine to try to slow down and when you're off the clutch that means if the engine slowing down your wheels or slowing down and all downshift once or twice maybe even three times coming up to Tura stop sign or stoplight, and that's again downshifting an engine braking and I am I am in favor of this, some people would argue that that's a poor choice because you'd rather wear your brakes than wear your engine and I understand that but I, don't know I've always I've always done it John before move onto the next bullet thoughts about that. Do all the bullets because you've already gone through learning downshifting. So I'M GONNA. Carry on then. Common Guidance which I am terrible at do as I say not as I do keep your hand off the shifter it's bad for the lift linkage it's bad for. Transmission potentially just don't touch the shifter if you're not actively shifting I, often rest my hand on the shifter, which is not at all what you're supposed to do, but you should keep your hand off of it if you WANNA, make things smoother, and this is kind of like moving from novice to amateur level to make things smoother downshift then you can do what's called ref matching. So let's say you're cruising at making this up but let's hear cruise near forty miles an hour in fourth gear and you're at two thousand RPM. Well you know where you will learn over time that if you were to downshift at forty miles an hour from fourth third, then that will bring you to three thousand RPM from two thousand. RPM. Well. We what you can do in order to make things a little smoother is you would press the clutch. You would blip the throttle for with your right foot to get the RPM's of the engine up to about three thousand RPM or wherever you think land, and then you come off the clutch and the reason you do that is because then the engine and the transmission are. All in their appropriate relative speeds. So such, there's no like jerking backward and forward the the opposite of this is just popping the clutch, which means you are you're doing what I say thirty to forty miles an hour in fourth gear you press in the clutch you downshift to third and you just come right off the clutch real fast, and then you'll you'll feel that like. Of of your whole body shifting as the engine and the transmission are coming back into an even relative speed. So I again, strongly encourage REV matching. It, it will make your downshifts particularly. Considerably smoother. Then, if you want to go from novice or what you've, you've gone from amateurs novice nephew wanted to go from novice to expert level. You can do what's called. He'll towing, which is something I also do which is kind of difficult although I do it in the wrong way. So the way you're supposed to heel toe is you're supposed to put the toes of your right foot on the brake, which is the Middle Pedal and you're supposed to twist your your foot such that the right heel can press the gas pedal..

"With the P P P, which had to be spent by June, thirtieth relate to the American people. Your conversations with Senator Ron Johnson Wisconsin. Yeah. We had a busy week. try to make quick 'cause I know we're on a time, but I have to have to think Ohio Restaurant Association, and the National Restaurant Association and you know one of the gifts that we know that we have at jeopardy. Call entertainment when the blessings we have is is the amount of connections we have, and and my dad really paved the way from a political. Political standpoint and always had very good connections, and so we use those connections to get calls, and we found out yesterday for Rubio, and through McConnell that there was one that was taking time and if anybody had a contact, so I asked my friend Tina's. You said for a contact. She gave me one right away. We heard back in thirty minutes. We were on the phone with. His chief of Staff in Wisconsin. We heard he heard us my. Dad. Spoke from the heart on behalf of all restaurants, there's one more week on his PCP going back and forth back, and forth will make or break restaurant folks, and literally on the call. It was the most insane thing I've ever experienced His top advisor came in and said they work through these things I guess in the back office as we were talking to the chief of staff and it, it was signed right on the call. Call and she said you should get. An announcement of some sort would hopefully within the next thirty minutes, and about an hour later We got the news from the Ohio Restaurants Station that that it was passed. It's it's so surreal and I'm so thankful so practically. If the money wasn't spent by June thirtieth because you could not open, you had to return the money. You had to have an extension of that money in order to stay. Viable stay in business. Maybe not your group at so many other groups have got to have that money and the law was written in such an effect. You had to spend it by June thirtieth, but if you're a shutdown, you couldn't spend it by June thirtieth, and you wanted to extend. It was a catch twenty two correct. Correct and the problem is like for US specifically does eight weeks would've been up June thirteen for us so the fact that we get to use that capital right now to keep the company afloat. For the next you know twenty four weeks total. What's sixteen weeks? for all of us that were in that boat and he had both McConnell and Johnson had some technical details and provision. They wanted in there that we agreed with to to make it more favorable to small businesses, and so if anything I think the beauty was that we were really able to express how how critical the timing is and please don't hold this thing up anymore. Get it passed. It's gotta go back and read line. Great, but we. We are good with what the House passed and you're good with what the national. Restaurant Association. put forth and and it was just traveling down backwards with my father last night. what he did on that call was incredible. What the Ohio Restaurant Association has done. It's incredible and we just sit in chairs to people in our restaurants. And getting this having just a small part and the. Thing was really such a blessing. So you think that'll be law and the money will be available over a six month period, which allows you to continue at least through September when things might be back to normal. I hope it gets signed today. I expect that the what you know. Reasonably. That wouldn't be yeah, so here you are the daughter of a living legend Jeff Ruby. You're running great restaurant with seven seven or I. Don't how many employees your mind you might have. Hundreds of employees things are great, and suddenly an asteroid hits, and and then, and then here comes a comic, and it's back to back. What else can happen? Truly, there was one the size I hear of the empire. State building was headed I. Mean I was laughing? John Lonnie. WHO said they're joking that a draft might be coming down main street. I mean truly every day. That's what I said we had. We've had a great twelve hours. Let's keep this going. You know twelve hour. And at the core, this is the idea that you have to work. Keep hundreds of people of employed at Jeffrey steakhouses produce wonderful product and also run a business while there's things happening over what you have absolutely no control zero none. Thing I can do is pray and keep a positive attitude and lean on our team and lean on our culture, lean on my family and and and take it truly day by day. If you ever had that sense where you can't worry about what tomorrow brings, you can only. Be In a moment, and and we've been forecasting worst-case scenarios, and and prepare for worst case scenarios, but at the same time we've got to learn to live in a moment and celebrate the successes, and that's where we are today. Did the protests and the riots affect any of your stories? especially the one on seventh street. It did but not to the extent. We thought just from a reservation standpoint. Sure we dropped, but we were able to there still a ton of people in in in in the restaurant last night. We still a ton I mean within feet of each other. but also some of that trans we were able to transfer to the precinct and so consolidated why we were right where we wanted to be. We're still fighting for our live. You're still. Hoping people continue to feel confident dining out. Every restaurant is, but it was slightly impacted but not much. I think peace we're. We're war hopefully. in a position now where things are starting to. Calm down downtown and that's what we experienced. Britney Ruby the bar. Jeff steakhouses wonderful are the rule such now you can have someone sitting at the bar except six feet apart, and nobody can stand with a drink of those rules. Don't affect. That still in effect that you can't stand, but we are taking reservations and seeding the bar a dining room so each. If you're a you know a deuce coming in, you're seated at the bar and six feet away from there could be a four top one about the ban. You always had a band there and Carlo John.

"Right speaking to John McClain hall of fame sports writer he traveled to Green Bay to cover the Houston Texans as they are there this week they're gonna play on Thursday night they're practicing against the Packers hi John what everybody wants to know how the offense of line look today day one against an actual opponent and it didn't look too bad sometimes I got driven backwards sometime they had some holes what I like most of all was the white Tigers how weird rag dolled a couple of players and one in particular cal tech really is an outside linebacker six back to forty five he came rushing from the outside in Howard took you drop god front in god is used his hands to get leverage in just kind of picked him up and throwing down the you know they call it rag dolling and that's what he did with fakrul now that's what they like to seize guy good fee he's always worried they're working on him about his balance and this is the he had a lot of work on his hand placement but everybody it's all about leverage Danylo getting leverage and the more he plays guard battery looks and I can't wait to see him again tomorrow back Scharping local guy first out of the dressing room at Lambeau field first to follow the tradition of getting all the kids bicycle and riding through the parking lot at Lambeau crossed the trajectory to the dominance in center and he had family and friends here and so you knew he was going to be fired up he didn't look as good as our dead but right now I think Scharping is destined for guard as long as Chantelle Henderson can hold so you're pretty confident Matt Kalil that you look good today well just today but until Khalil goes against other players and it it won't surprise me at all because it is an activity he doesn't struggle at times and then continue to get better the key is not just staying healthy after he had to spin off season last year on a knee injury but for a guy that missed all but two games in two thousand sixteen played seventeen games in two thousand seventeen with Caroline and then missed all of last season he is naturally have apple knock off a lot of rust and there's only so much a player can do in training camp when you're not going all out but in these practices in preseason games Matt Kalil prize Howard mac Scharping those are three options of lime along with Martinez Rankin who this time last year was coming off foot surgery in central Henderson he's like another free agent because he went down for the season in the first quarter the first game watching those guys in practice in the game's those the ones I'm gonna be cheaper now than Khalil's got to be one of those guys that he's he's going to be anywhere close to what he was he's not just going to happen the first game it's going to have to be a steady progression speaking to John McClain hall of fame sportswriter Houston Chronicle John Lonnie Johnson gets tossed out of practice today by bill o'brien he said it was not a big deal after practice is that something that coach you secretly enjoy or was that really not okay with Lonnie Johnson dad Andre op de Andre options got kicked out of practice in the first five minutes they had a joint practice perfume in a fight in light Johnson created any made a good play then he closed which got the Packers mad started and man oh man o'brien Tolani it's time for line you have a shower he got an escort from Brian Cushing off the field to the shower and you know you hope you learn a lesson Brian will put up with that it's so funny Matt when I used to cover the Oilers the coaches love deceived by hand they like because nobody ever really got hurt in the fight but today especially with Brian in today's current coaches and this starts with bill Belichick they say if you don't have the discipline to avoid a fight and practice how in the world are you going to get the discipline to avoid a fight during the game they think it's jurors discipline and so you've got to control yourself in practice so you can control yourself in games Johnson is a rookie of course second round big he only had one year of major college football at Kentucky so he's gonna he's he's winning boys Maddie's guy course we all know good size buddies physical he'll get all eyes scrimmage he will challenge the receivers including the Andre Hopkins the coaches love that part many can be out there posing in the show both and in creating a fight and I think he probably learned his lesson well is there going to be an opportunity for Lonnie Johnson to start this year John it would be does mad that means Jonathan Joseph R. Bradley Roby is is either not doing their job or if he's good enough to start at some point this year maybe they moved Roby inside to slide corner I still think they need another slack corner everybody says all the right things about Aaron Coleman and he's working really hard but he jurors may not fit into this is to maybe the reason the look good in Jacksonville the bus because he played between AJ boy A. in jail in Ramsey and in here now these concentrating on playing slot receiver uneasily guy binding me Xavier Crawford a sixth round pick brand body Calhoun it brings back Cleveland Browns thank you might be a better safety than a slight corner I think they made the two positions they need a a slight corner and you could you could make a trade or you could wait to see gets cut and of course they need a running back you know they're gonna one of the best things about being here's why should always back up running backs are gonna get to play a lot in a game Thursday night I wrote a thing in in my takeaways on taxes sports nation dot com about Weiss and Josh burgers and turned a corner turn on the motors and blew me was gone down the sideline for a touchdown but those are the things to watch but I think between between barring any barring injuries I think they need as far corner ninety the backup running back speaking to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle on Matthew directly you listening to sports radio six ten so you said yesterday you think that the backup running back for the Texans he's probably going to come from the outside somebody that's not on the roster yet you think there's any possibility that either of the two rookies get a crack at that number two running backs job tomorrow you're Crockett or chronic did ever since camp again I wouldn't impress season he did it the gun banged up close their run drafted rookies coming in their heads were spinning their trying to figure out which end was up in in about a couple of prices and all of a sudden you watch women each day one or both of them make some good plays the egg and I noticed today runs low he's got good balance he doesn't have any wasted motion Crockett's bigger to twenty five the yield a light came on the goal line he's the same thing he keeps his pads down he stays low they like that Ferguson who was a he has good hands he's fast and he's quick when he came out Illinois ran a four four eight his pro day and he can still run and so those guys buddy how I don't know about but he had a looks great six one two eight he's a really good special teams player but when Lamar Miller got hurt last year they went without for blue leading give buddy Alex chance by running back in that's kind of scary maybe he'll get a chance man they love for one of those guys to Marge but I just think they're gonna be with the watch in the waiver wires see about veterans getting released and and I'm not saying this is gonna happen man but last year when Lamar Miller miss tuning have games Alford blue came in and rush for three point five yards a carry John Lopez nicknamed him on sports radio six ten Mister three point five and now for the really good special things he gets cut but Jacksonville wouldn't surprise me if he that end up back there behind the more Miller wow that's what that be incredible a lot of people don't like blue around here so that being able to live game is bears career and hit out he had a couple hundred yard games good guy good special teams player but you know he is what he is made like there's somebody better maybe they'll get somebody better maybe it'll be one of the guys on the team but I still think it'll be somebody on another Oscar speaking to John McClain Houston Chronicle I Matthew directly were on sports radio six ten art house bill o'brien handling his act responsibility so far you know it's a flight to Green Bay is evaluating his team and now we might be looking for an outside running back is he handling it well well what he does is he didn't do a lady as people would do that like you retail like they've got a pro personnel director rob Gisele rob's been there a long time and they have a list of players at every position if those players become available he would meet with the Matt bars Burritt blew a tazer yen match they had a of personnel and they would mate and they would talk about it then they go to bail nice okay here's who we got there we think and then the bills say let me know let me know if we want to try out anybody that was signed when we get back to Houston and so like satellite up it's not him going through those list I go through it form and then they can nail tools like here and go out there and handle all the football operations Jack does that and in in these got Chris also doing all the contracts so they'll come back to a more and see what he wants to do but it's just like is to fly you know you do you delegate o'brien's being good about delegating to his coaches now he's ahead of personnel and every time Brian gain signed a player drafted a player he o'brien scattered in most of the time went to visit him so it's not really any different because gain never brought any anybody Brian didn't sign off point though there might have been somebody's okay fine if you want and that's fine with me will coaching not but if he didn't want somebody he say no because he was always in charge of the game day roster in who suited up in who play so it's not like bride staying up twenty four seven worried about all these things he's got what he believes are good people under him and we're not gonna know had functions till probably after the season he Brian makes the final calls but he's not the right dirty work right speaking to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle do we get any other information about what went into the onto a form and you know they they waved and they put him on waivers the colts pick them up do we have any more information about that I know that bill o'brien basically wasn't happy with the work ethic here's a deal about foreman the entree was always his Connell lazy he we need you to mercy taxes a junior is a great player so he came in here your card as a receiver and as a blocker and but he would be like and then when he was doing his worry Abby would miss sessions and so he would get out of shape not being in tip top shape the best way to get into a coach's dog houses not be in shape in Malay and so last year after last season he met with Brian an exit interview and o'brien told it is in my car brake for you better come back in shape you better get with the program Dante talked about that to the media I earlier in the offseason program and so he did he came back in really good shape and I saw him and they saw on Instagram when he had been working out what he was doing and when he came into the offseason program about two weeks before the draft he was in great shape great attitude everything so that's why they didn't address running back they were all fired up about it everything was going great and then they get a reverts back to the same stuff he's in shape which can't be late he can't he can't not warm play special teams are going to be a back up in the they didn't and it was not one thing it was more of the.
