"Make both of them work that means if we're on a flight we're accrue is trying to land at an airport with limited visibility using the automatic landing system The fears of the 5G towers interfering means that airplane doesn't land It's delayed It's canceled We go to the next alternate city we land and they bus us back from there So it's something that could create some big time problems Now my concern is that Verizon itself has been I think $50 billion over the last several years for these 1700 city rollout where they're trying to reach a 100 billion people When you've got that much money which does a lot of talking you really hope that there's not some undue influence that's brought to bear They kind of pushes us through when we really should be putting safety first and nothing after that So we'll have to wait and see the FAA seems to be on top of it Look we didn't take an accident or near accident thank God for this they kind of reached the front burner But they have reached a compromise where they seem to think that around the 50 airports were these towers could be close enough to create some interference that they would create a buffer zone to kind of help again reduce any problems from happening Only time is going to tell which way things are going to go but this 5G tower situation is going to be something that's gotten a lot of attention and it's going to continue to get some attention and hopefully we can continue to do tests just to make sure there's not going to be a problem Everywhere I look I see crises and opportunities used by power brokers and government to seize more of our freedoms at our expense Ratliff I got to run tonight What is your how do people get ahold of you if at all On any aviation or stock market questions well the easiest way to get a hold of me is Jay ratliff dot com get a hold of me if there's any questions or problems so she was an airline issue reach out to me through that website and I will respond just as quickly as my as my day allows Okay rattler if you're a great American and thank you once again tonight for coming on the Bill Cunningham show Good luck and godspeed Thank you You two willing I was continuing with more My final remarks are next Bill Cunningham with you every Sunday Night John landecker starts your evening off on the right foot landecker at night Monday through Thursday at 6 on 7 20 And now an important message from exigen a critical new FDA study proves that the widely used non contact thermometers are not accurate and have high probabilities for false negative.

"You Here on 7 20. W G. M. Formed in 1967 signed in 1971 in front of by iconic vocalist Kevin Cronin. Since 1972 ru Speedwagon is a band, where the main constant over the decades is a never ending desire to give their all to their fans year in and year out. Kevin was born in Oakland, but the band hails from Peoria and talk about it all. Kevin Cronin joins us, Kev, It's been almost 50 years. How did this journey begin? Well, it was, Yeah, the Chicago Sun Times at that time, uh, had a musical one ad section and classified section, but it costs $15 for each Wanted, and I was looking for guitar player and the bass player, so they wanted to charge me 30 bucks. I couldn't take out one ad for two musicians. And I was like, I don't have 30 bucks. So I got the idea to start this kind of musicians, referral service like you say, and and and I was getting calls from You know, And everybody who called was like, Oh, we have the greatest band in the world. We're looking for a baseball and and you know, by after about a month of this, I'm like, what if I created a monster? This is ridiculous. Anybody could tell me anything, right? So I get this call the guys telling me Oh, yeah, We have a recording contract with epic record. Uh, you get $200. The guy will get a $200 a week salary. And at the time I was driving a yellow cab in Chicago, you know, kind of dug. It was kind of Yeah, I would think so. Yeah, but I'm like, So what's the name of this fan? And he's like, Well, I can't really tell you that because, you know, we're on tour right now. And I'm like, Yeah, right, you know, And finally, I finally I'm like, you know, I don't think I can help you and he goes. All right. Well, the name of the band is r e O Speedwagon, And I'm like I'm thinking of myself. Wait. I've heard of those guys. They play the decks card. Wild goose circuit, you know? And I like you know what? I've got a guy Internet in my vast in my vast library of lead singers. I've got this one guy He's saying he plays guitar. He writes songs Perfect. Garrett was very rich rats on the line. Gary is like, Yeah, I want to meet this guy. Well, of course, you know, given myself a stellar review, that's awesome. Literally. That's how I got the gig. That's awesome. Yeah, Scab basically scammed by way of the group and its I've been kept at the masquerade. For 45 years. What exactly is an R e o Speedwagon? But that was it like there was a truck company like a motor company in the early 20th century, wasn't it? Yeah, it was that they reo Speedwagon was, uh, flatbed truck That is actually original Fire truck that could, you know, get to the fire quicker than a horse drawn buggy and Uh, you know, and it was kind of prophetic in a way because they were they were built to last. You know, they were, uh, you know, kind of had They kind of looked cool. You know, so that the name kind of kind of stuck with us. So perfect. Here we are back there. You are a fact that the logo you know, the famous wing Logan on all of our T shirts and everything that was basically the hood ornament from cool original, Ari. And can you imagine now and I mean and they gave us you know, they signed off planet gave us permission. They never charged us any Anything to you know, to use the name to use the logo. You imagine lawyered up today. World today? Oh, yeah, Painful. They welcome us Every time we play Lansing, they bring it old Speedwagon out there. I've ridden around it so that it's very cool. Very cool. And I know you know your early days. You know, In the very early days, you were much bigger in some cities like Chicago and specifically ST Louis. You're playing like Busch Stadium one night. But then two nights later, you would have you were playing in a bar in the middle of nowhere. It was kind of all over the board and the very beginning. It was and but which was kind of cool because you know it gave bands a chance to make a name for themselves in a in, you know locally and then build it from there, Where, As you know, Today's world, everything is is pretty interconnected. So I would think it's a little more difficult for a young band to get a foothold that now than it was back in those days, But, hey, you know, it's It's the modern world and you know, we all kind of hard Open back to Picking up the days that you know when you know when we made it or when we did this or we said, And the fact is, you know it's today is today, man. You got to embrace what's going on. And, you know, I feel just so fortunate that we're still, uh, people are still buying tickets to come and see a course and play those songs and we You know, we don't take ourselves seriously at all. But we do take what we do seriously and we know that people are coming to see us and, uh and you know, they want to, you know, they want to. They want to see something that that's not just a bunch of guys restaurant what they did in the past, we we we take the past and make it the present and you know we are out there. Our thing is, we want people to, uh, we want to exceed people's expectation that every night and that's uh you know, that's somehow we're still able to do it, man. We're still enjoying it having fun. And, uh, you know, it's fun.

How to Get Chicago Kids to School Is Latest Pandemic Headache

"Chicago area school districts are dealing with yet another hurdle with kids heading back to the classrooms, and that is a shortage of bus drivers. A lot of drivers retired during the pandemic or have decided because of the virus. They're not going to come back. Here's WGN's Megan Dwyer. School bus companies are now competing with uber Grubhub and Amazon to get drivers and they are finding they just can't compete despite offering incentives like signing bonuses and free healthcare. With CPS going back to school next week. The fear is the district shortage is going to be severe. W. G M reached out to CPS asking for information on their transport plan, but they have not

"Ranger for the ones who get it done. Josh Anderson got it done at 15 39 of the first in Montreal has a one Nothing lead. The first time they have lead in this series. You know, I was saying right before that goal, wondering if Ducharme might change your lines back to what he had because they were getting nothing. Turnover behind the Net by Vasilevskiy and Jake Evans just a half step away from making it to do an update. Andrei Vasilevskiy has not looked very sure of himself in the last 60 seconds of this hockey game. Now it's Evans turns on the Jets through the neutral zone on left wing into the Tampa Bay Zone, got it to the net, and it's angled off the stick by Vasily The key to the corner. 3.5 to play opening period is Brayden point, lobs it back into the Montreal zone and mixes it up with Evans as Weber spins it around the boards and I believe we got coincidental minors here Evans and breaking points. They came together inside the Montreal blue line about 10 ft. Inside the blue line, and they came together. They don't stop 21. Another They pushed each other. They cross checked. Each other. They punched each other. And then the whistle blew. And they both thought of the penalty box. 16 33 times the penalties age get roughing minors that is, I would think a trade that Dominique Ducharme will take all night long, Evans. Oh, yeah, for breaking point. No question about that, and that goal has given Montreal the Canadians. Little bit more jump. You know, they just Yeah, you know, right? I mean, they just they were just wondering, you know, through the first almost 15 minutes. They're thinking Tampa Bay is going to have too many men on.

"How doers Get More done, Joe. Something profound will happen here tonight, either. The Canadians will show us something they haven't shown us yet in this series, or the Lightning will go back to back, Jack. Well, I think you know, let's start with Montreal. Um, the thing about Montreal is, I just think that they have to score first to win, not because of what the statistics say. Montreal is a team more so than any other team. I think I've seen in a long time that when they score first, they are a different team, their level of play their their comfort zone. They just go into this mode where they look like a different team. And so when they don't they look like a team in panic that can't come back when they're behind. So they just they just Play a different system have a different attitude, and that's when they're at their most comfortable error. So I think for them, they have to score first. The other thing is this. You know they're going to need carry price to obviously play better than what he's played in this series. His numbers are awful in the series, but To coincide with that. It's a team that better stop making all the egregious mistakes that they're making a way. They're giving up the puck in the turnovers and whatnot the way they're defending. So they have to do a better job of helping him out. And then I think they need an unsung hero. They need somebody to step up and score a goal that maybe you don't expect. You know, you look at Tampa Bay, right? And they've had Goals from Eric Turn AC. He's unexpected to score, but he scores a big goal in game number one Tyler Johnson 1/4 liner has even though he's more of a novel, but he's 1/4 liner. He scores two goals last game about John Rueda, who expects him to score but you know what? He scores a big goal in Game number three. So for Montreal, I mean, you've got a list of players, some of them we talked about. Tyler Toffoli who doesn't have a point. But how about Brendan Gallagher hasn't scored. Paul Byron Not doesn't have a point. Evans hasn't played a lot of oil are MIA doesn't have a point. These are players at That have been contributing along the way in different games, But they haven't yet in the series and maybe even stroke. Kolkata feel the 20 year old into that into that mix as well. So I think they need somebody forest. Tampa Bay is concerned. I mean, if they keep their defense as active as they've been both defensively, and.

"I'm so happy to be back filling in the oh, this time for John And as I said, a great show really good dress, a packed show, So let's dive right in my first guest. Is all about making a difference and really doing what we all do so well in this town taking care of each other Joan eBay Hack is on a mission to raise awareness and funds for the annual cancer Survivor Celebration walk. And she is also a be moved instructor She's hosting a dance class for the Malnati Brain Tumor Institute. This is a community event. That's part of the walk and the proceeds will benefit brain tumor research clinical trials. Treatments and holistic patient care. So welcome to the show, Joanie. Thank you. That's such a nice introduction, and I loved your tribute to the veterans. That was beautiful. Beautifully said So. Thank you. You're so welcome. So excited to be on this show. I cannot tell you and thank you so much for your generosity to to invite me on your so welcome. Well, thank you for all you're doing. So tell us the Why here? Why are you doing this? What's the story? My my very long term partner. His daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor about 10 years ago, and she's brilliant young woman first in her class and math at Yale and just starting her career. And just like every young woman's dream is to have a great career and meet a boy and get married. Have a beautiful baby and she was diagnosed 10 years with a A brain tumor. And I started getting involved with a mama T Brain Tumor Institute, which is about 10 years old and any relation to Northwestern. Okay, huh? That manatee related to I have to say this has gone from Chicago. The pizza family? Yeah. And they're so generous, and they really came up with a significant gift so that we could really formalize the brain Institute at Northwestern and it's interesting. I learned doctor Chandler was on one of the W GM shows I think with Anna and it was talking about how cancer grain cancer hasn't really been treated in a specific way up until about 20 years ago. It was sort of treated and generic sort of way and And with all of the new technology and the focus on it in the treatment, different treatments for different types of cute, you know huge tumors. It has been miraculous inroads into treating people with brain Tumors, and now there's about 700,000 who are diagnosed every year. And I think the future is very positive. Like you were saying Chicago comes together and support each other. This. The grain Institute is one of those places where people come in from all different scientific and medical expertise is and they holistically treat the patient. You know, from the very first moment they're diagnosed and Because it's such a close cause in my heart, and I love this young woman so much, and I wanted to do something to help, and I retired from Chicago media myself about four years ago, and I thought, Well, what's gonna be Like my purpose. You know, what am I going to do to contribute? I mean, you really do it social cliche, but you get older. Do you think I want to get back? I want to get back at this chapter of my life and so and you certainly are. No God, you're eyeing Dolly and you are doing this dance. It's a dance a thon or just a dance class. And you're asking folks to donate $25 right? How can people donate And participate, or how can they just donated they is there I would want to be a couch potato, which is okay, as long as you're donated. That left like to remember his cancer dot northwestern dot each year when then it if you click on the celebration walk, it'll say, Find a team and my name happens to be Joanie. But any donation is acceptable. And because of Kobe, they're not actually doing the walk. Which is usually done. You know, on that Saturday, Which is you unusual this year because I wanted to teach a class a chief O'Neill, which is a fabulous pub owned by Shabaan and Brendan McKinney, and they always raise their hands. Help and they have this gorgeous beer garden outside and I teach Be moved, which is a class that's good for everybody type was good for every fitness level, and it's so much fun. I mean, we're teaching the impeaching disco and it's accessible. You could just follow me and the music's cranked loud and you just feel like dirt and I'm really good at it. Especially in a beer garden. You're good at anything in a bear got ready to go, damn it! Get up! And everybody looks good, too. Hey, June 4th don't think this is gonna happen on June 4th. "Hi there Eve. Hello. Hello. So glad you are joining us tonight. Thank you. That's absolutely well. Here's what's something funny like the Brady Bunch I think occupied this exact time slot. That we're speaking him like 50 years ago. Did you have any other 7? 30 years? Eight o'clock? I'm no, I am not. I'm not the best. You're gonna have to connect the consulting on the necks and the printed word for accuracy. When you're talking to me about the Brady Bunch could do that. We could do that. But did you ever think though, Eve that, you know, decade? I mean, we're talking 52 years later that we'd still be talking about the show. No. Because at that time I couldn't imagine being 52 years old. Let alone being 63. I was gonna say you were 10. I think when you film the pilot and 11 really when the serious began, But that wasn't your first TV role. You already acting it like aged seven. Six. Yeah. Children's agent had moved in next door to us sent me on an audition for fabric softener, and I got the job. And I haven't looked back since I you know, By the time I did, Brady Bunch I had been run over by a horse. I'd died of leukemia. I've been thrown down a well, I've lost my dog at Christmas. And I have been sold out by my buying uncle at auction. Oh, my God. Well, you turned out okay presently enough, You know, you can get resilience is key. Absolutely. Absolutely. I'll see you did. You did TV commercials like you mentioned. I'm looking at the list of credits. The Virginian, the big valleys, Of course, running me over. He was falling down a well falling down a well and orphanage burned down and the orphanage burned the Lassie. Remember what happened last E Dog dog lost it. Christmas dog Lost it. Christmas tragic. It takes a thief. I was kidnapped behind. My parents were a scientist. We were escaping behind from the Iron Curtain and I was kidnapped at the border and Alex member. He had to come and capture me and rescue me. Wow, that's pretty intense. Just because I just started reading Robert Wagner's book about the actresses that he's worked with, and I'm just a page turning to see if he talks about me. Very nice. Very nice. Family affair. Family fare died of leukemia. That was that one. Okay, I'm Oh, man. A tear jerker. Another tier degree tragedy. Oh, my God. Gun smoke. Now, Gus, Look, I don't remember when you were young and you were really young. I mean doing this, which I remember because I love getting dressed up and going to a Western costume and get getting fitted for customs. One of them. I think it was the fell down the well, one. They had to have a few dresses for me because I had to be dirty and one scene between the other and I would swear there was a tag sewn in there that said Shirley Temple. Wow, you know back You know, these days we take a picture of everything I would have loved to have. I've seen that have had had a picture of that. Yeah, but what's funny is they did re use props over and over and over. So that doesn't surprise me. Yeah, 19 sixties. Why wouldn't they just have the pieces of wardrobe from the 19 thirties, which would have been considered worthless? That's true feeling. That's true, you know, and absolutely back then. And you know you think about you were that young like 67. Eight years old doing all these scenes? You do have some vivid memories of some of this, huh? Right? Yes. Yes, I do. Yeah. Wait a minute. Yeah, right. Yeah, I'm just trying to remember. Yes, it's coming forward here and then the audition. It was called the Brady brood. I think at the time. How did that come along? I'm sure your parents somebody has told this story like how many billions of kids Probably. You know, auditioned for this role. How did that all happen? Well, it was. It was just another audition, you know, And at that time they were seeing all sorts of ages and all sorts of hair colors because the most important thing about an actor's their hair color. Um she was seeing you know, blonde boys and dark haired girls and red headed boys and blonde, you know, on the different hair colors and ages. And so it was sort of what they call a cattle call where they just had, you know, line them up and match. And, uh, so I didn't make the cut on. So then, Next thing I knew has been called in to meet with John Rich, the director and sure which forced the producer and I went into an office and I don't remember much of what was said of it. And they said, Well, she looks like our girl meaning for Henderson. And next thing you know, I'm in an itchy Pink satin bridesmaids dress. Wow, that's it, And that's what I thought. One of the kids had to dye their hair. Maybe for the serious Mike. Mike. Mike Kiss has like Sandy, Sandy blond red a share, and they dyed his hair. The first few years looks so natural. It's amazing and again, you said, And all of a sudden you're in that bridesmaid's dress, and I'm you go right. You go, and at the time, you know the show, which we all you know, so beloved today, But at the time the show originally aired, the show wasn't considered relevant. It was saccharine people used to say in the reviews. Um, there was political divide. There was Vietnam. And then you had talked about John Rich, who was a big part of all in the family and Mary Tyler Moore and all these other shows..

I think they've said Hey, you know, let's fix this up right now. Barely cars. So the first four levels I think we're closed off. And the next two levels on the night still going to be crowded. It was not crowded only like the first two rows of like 10 rows of cars that are like five football fields long. It was very easy. I was surprised. So so then I get in thinking now the airport's gonna be completely empty. I'd say pre check. I go to that line. Which still Khun B. Like going to great American waiting for the American Eagle for half an hour, But no, they had it set up more like the Kansas City airport. We're like, six people just step right in, and I was through that in two seconds. So then I'm in the airport itself thinking Okay, well, this is going to be empty and it wasn't then it felt like normal. There's a decent amount of people in there. I think what are all these people come here? This doesn't make any sense to me. The Chili's to go is packed. I think the Chili's to go who was just talking about this was freaking out that the Chili's to go is closed. No. Yeah, When I was filling in for Anna last week, I was talking to somebody who was like the Chili's to go is closed as a crime. They were losing their mind over it. But the Starbucks still had like a 20 minute long line. So there was that so there was a sense of normalcy and then when I was on the flight itself Cause I've been hearing about. You know what? What you can and can't do in there. They're passing out this or that. There was nothing passed out like I didn't get a little cleaning supply kit or anything like that. The guy in front of me wipe down everything I smelled. You know, cleaning supplies for a good half hour, So I was happy about him on it was, you know, it was a lighter flight. It wasn't like they were restricting it. But there weren't many peoples and was just a two and two side. Nobody next to me. I felt good about that. When they came around with the drinks on DH. I bought like a soda because I thought I'm just going to bring my own. So I'm not doing whatever And but they were. I just asked for a glass of ice. They give me a glass of ice. They weren't you know they're wearing. They're wearing massing loves, but I had heard that like they're just handing you a bottle of water and a bag of pretzels. And there's no like real service, so they've gone back to having service..
