"That I wrote down that she has on her counter throughout the different scenes. Are you ready for this? Yeah, a cluster of three containers of wood utensils, which I think that's the vibe. That's the move, right? Like you don't need one, you need three. She has one of the counter skirts where it's like the little fabric, you know, covering instead of doors, which those have recently started to become more in style again. And I just, I think it's so interesting, it's like very English. It's very friendly and casual. She has a bowl of clementines. She has lilacs. She has fresh herbs. She has her pot rack. I think this is to Emma's point of the real kitchen. It's a mixture of stainless steel and copper instead of being just like the perfect copper collection, like what you see on Pinterest every day. It does look like a real set of favorite pots and pans collected over time. Then there's like tomatoes, artichokes, and then in one scene there's like separate cake stand with croissants at a separate one with a cake. I just like love it. I think that this is like the essential how to Nancy Meyers your home is having this food around. A display in the kitchen, having the fresh herbs, it's just so friendly feeling. Yeah, especially if you get high later, like Meryl Streep does, then you really need some cake, you know? Yes. Okay, my favorite quote from the whole movie is do you buy chance Pokémon? Yeah. Yeah, I actually think Meryl Streep should have won an Oscar for this for like most accurate portrayal of an older lady being high. Because it's just excellent. Yeah. I agree. It was a ten. I love the scene where John Krasinski goes into the bathroom and they're like smoking in the bathroom. Yeah. And he was like, I don't smoke marijuana. Okay, just one. Yeah, yeah, that makes me like, you know what? Yes. Yeah. Oh, also in her kitchen. I kind of were up to you to talk about getting high because of the cake. But I also love her giant fridge. I don't know if it's a sub zero, but that's like tends to be what the big fridge is and fancy kitchens are. I don't know. But she's got one of those giant fridges and when they open it up at certain scenes, you see all these like Tupperware of leftovers and things and to me there's nothing cozier than like delicious leftovers and having space for all of that in your fridge. And I hadn't noticed this before, but there's a dent, at least in a few scenes in the fridge. And I don't know if maybe that was on purpose, or if it was on accident, but I feel like it kind of works for the story of the movie, both that she cooks a lot and that she wants a new kitchen, but there's kind of this fairly substantial dent in the door of the refrigerator. That actually makes me feel good about myself because in our home we have an old sub zero fridge that came with the house and it has a tint in it. While you're just like Meryl Streep's character, just like her. So you're good. There were just the same and we both have a bowl of clementines. There you go. Yeah. Oh, and the other thing I wanted to mention is I think her kitchen is the perfect reference for an open concept kitchen that's not too open because it opens into a dining room and then after that a living room. So there's like some it's like there's some obviously like there's not a lot of walls, there's a lot of flow, but and there's kind of a big arch that frames the kitchen. So you have like a view from the living room, but I also just think it's like, it's functional, you know? And I think it's nice to have it by the dining room. Yeah, and it's enough to change where she has the architect over for dinner one night, and they're just eating dinner at the kitchen counter. And other times that different characters are eating at the counter, you know, quick meals or just eating some leftovers. And then there's also a few scenes where she's having a larger dinner with her family at the dining room table, but you can still kind of see the kitchen like in different views. And I feel like that's like the perfect open concept but still has different spaces where it's like it still seemed special to me that they were in the dining room, but it also was like nice that there's like an Eden option in the kitchen of like just sitting at the countertop eating the sandwiches that she had baked. Yes, I love it. Okay, so let's talk about the bakery. So first of all, should we just open a bakery? It seems like way too much work, but I mean, yeah, I think maybe my dream is just to go to a bakery every day. But you know what? That seems like a simpler solution. Maybe we can have like bakery a month where we can just have a month where we go to a bakery kind of like constantly and then we can take a break after that 'cause we'll probably be okay. Honestly, nothing makes me feel like more like a fancy lady than when it's like a weekday and I probably should be at work and I'm just like at a coffee shop getting a cookie in a latte. I feel so fancy and like I'm doing something like true and you know like oh I'm not in school. I'm at the bakery nice yeah that's adorable. I'm very rebellious so yeah I feel like the bakery it's like the whole movie's worth watching just for the very short scenes where you get to glimpse what the bakery looks like. It's so beautiful. It's like the type of it's not just a bakery it's a type of place where you can also buy like perfect candles and like flowers and jar of hunting fancy jar of olives that kind of thing. Yes. I thought yeah it was kind of like an ultimate comfort scene. I was really hoping it was gonna be a real bakery that was just like a little bit different and we could go there and it would be so cool but well and it seems so busy and the scene that they show where they're kind of zoomed out but then in another scene she sees some police officers driving by and she says what their order is. So it seems like it's kind of like at least in the movie they're trying to give you the impression that it was very successful but also she sees the regulars and knows what they're ordering and I thought that was really cute and quaint too. Yeah. Fun detail. Very cute. Okay, so anything about the movie that did not age well. Whatever. I think at first I was kind of like, you know, I think they're making the new wife who was someone who had had an affair with the ex-husband. Oh, right. They were kind of making her out to be a bit like they're doing too much hate towards her. So I was like, okay, so she's like a working mom. But I feel like in the end, they brought it back around just through other, you know, you kind of start to feel sorry for her. They give her a lot more humanity towards the middle and end of the movie. And I liked that.

"Drove me nuts. It's the cousin of the Twitter react story that I hate so much. Oh, the Mavericks, the Mavericks get an eliminator from the playoffs. Here's Twitter reacting. I do that all the time though. I have to be fair. I don't want to act like I'm above that. That one I do, but go ahead. I just think I just think it manufacturers narratives that aren't necessarily there, because if you look at ten people in your feed saying, oh, this is Luca's fault that they're out of the playoffs. If you maybe scroll ten people down, you find ten people will say it's coaching or ten people who say it's Mark Cuban, whatever. I take issue with that sometimes less like, I mean, sometimes you'll just see like, this happened, Twitter's got jokes. That's what I, yeah. I'm thinking the list when I did a couple of weeks on Monday Night Football, ESPN did that John Krasinski thing. And I the next day my column was, here's how Twitter reacted to that. But yeah, the thing about this player caused that I'll stay away from Twitter reaction. Or just like Twitter, Twitter murders blank for saying this. And it's like, well, maybe it's just a lot of people reacting their feet. That to me, just like manufacturing consensus by using people you know is tweets. That's what offends me. And so this idea and it was always presented as this redditor has an epic theory on Tom Brady and it's like, you did no fact checking. It was shot down almost immediately. Did you call Fox before this? 'cause I bet you didn't would. Fox is just sitting around waiting for you. And these are legitimate outlets. I mean, you know, legitimate people who cover and I always say this all the time when we're talking about the ringer. We're credentialed for the Super Bowl. Worker M children NFL facilities, we're credentialing these places. We have to carry ourselves like we can't just throw shit up against the wall, because we have to face these people. Right. And so, and luckily, everyone who writes for us also has to do that. We don't have, I think, part of this and this is kind of case by case as far as the outlook goes. I think a lot of outlets have people who go out and do the sort of reporting in person or make calls or whatever. And then the aggregators who just sort of take what those people do and summarize it. And those people can be more liberal with the facts, basically, as far as just saying, okay, here's what they really meant to say, whatever, whereas we can't say this, right? Right. And I remember a couple of years ago, I did a piece of baron Rogers. And he had said something in it and I was like, our social team was like, can we take this and make it a cool car? And I was like, let's not make any quote cards. I don't want to sensationalize it. Like whatever, let's just do it. So I'm going to report immediately makes it a quote card. And it got like, what are like a 120,000 retweets or something? Like it was like the Ellen selfie from the Oscars. It was unbelievable. And so people who can just take whatever. I don't want to get into the whole reporting thing. I know exactly where you're coming from. I could not agree so much. That do not do the bare minimum. You don't have to be credentialed to email fox or the bucks and say, what is this true? And I'm not even all I'm asking for is a little common sense every now and then. Like take a step back and go, okay, a person that nobody knows went on Reddit and said Tom Brady's on the mess singer. Maybe we should not really act like this is real. That's all. I forget the report. That's all I'm asking for. Just take a step back and say, what are we doing here? What are we doing? But, you know, I let's end it with something positive. Because you had a take recently that I think is one of the best takes I've ever seen. Now, normally, it's always fun when someone has a bad take and you can argue and go back and forth. But I just come and praise because you're a take about hot chocolate, it needs to be amplified. Thank you. And supported and as winter comes, it's a take that everyone needs to really understand and get behind. So I believe, and also, by the way, this is not a shot at water. Not a shot of water. But I believe that hot chocolate should be the second most popular drink. In the world with beer being number one. You almost view, by the way, water is almost an essential service, okay? That's not a drink. It's not a drink. It's not necessity. Also, it's not even that popular. Like if you're someone saying, what do you want? If you're getting water, you're not going for teas, okay? So I just think we haven't done enough. With hot chocolate, it's an amazing drink. It tastes great all the time. And people were coming at me and saying, oh, it's not caffeinated. It doesn't give me the shakes. I need my rocket fuel. And I'm saying, this is a resource problem. Because if we give in, it's also people being super problem because again, it's this concept where you can't have two thoughts at once. You can enjoy and need your coffee and you can still understand that hot chocolate needs to be more popular. And we could innovate, we could have caffeinated hot chocolate in some way. That can be your first drink in the morning if you need it to be. Think about all of the things Starbucks and boutique coffee shops have done for coffee. We're making it ice that we're adding this and we're adding pumpkin spice. There's been no innovation on hot chocolate fast. No. You mentioned Starbucks, I'll just say one thing. They have done peppermint hot chocolate and it's fine. I saw people mention that and they were a couple other takes and twists on that, but I saw in my mentions because it went vaguely viral. It was more it was more replies actually than quote rates. People just either saying it was great or saying no. Most of the arguments about caffeine. But we gotta take hot chocolate to the next level. But if you just give my take in the original street was if you just give it 10% of the real estate, the coffee has in this country. Amazing things would happen. Agree. When you get hot chocolate, if you get a hot chocolate out, forget making it home. If you get it out, whipped cream or no whipped cream. Well, I'm going no. Me too. Whipped cream is a distraction. But I just want to get to the chocolate. And everything is, it's already caloric. You got to watch it. If you're going to drink a lot of hot chocolate over a winter, unless you're running marathons, you get to watch it. So I'm going with our whipped cream. And I'm also no marshmallow bullshit either. Marshmallows are like raisins. They ruin it, you don't need it. It's fine on its own. Get out. Now, this is a true story. I read your tweet about the hot chocolate. While in line at the supermarket, where there was a package of Swiss miss in my cart. And I was going to take a picture and I'm like, well, let's not make this about me. And then if I was going to say like, oh, I read this while buying hot chocolate people would tell me I'm a liar and it's not true, but I just wanted you to know, I was actually buying hot chocolate when I read your tweet. Wow. I don't get any money from that or any pop. But I appreciate things that's influencer. I will say my no, no, I was already in my cart when I read your tweet. So I'm like on your side fully on this on this. It now had hot chocolate every day since the tweet. Let's have it a lot at SI because they had free when we had an office in the free hot chocolate. I haven't seen Spotify. I haven't looked at the Spotify how chocolate options. We got cold brew on top. They probably have like the ghirardelli or the fancy. They're not doing Swiss miss. It's Spotify. I don't think. I got to look. Yeah. All right, Kevin, appreciate it. Enjoy a hot chocolate. And we'll have

"But he is definitely also a quiet front office guy. He is low ego, like that sort of thing. And there are some people who believe that the new ownership group wants to make a splash. Is that going to be possible for them to do? I don't know. But what they have told Gupta, what they have operated under this whole season is that we're going to evaluate things when the season finishes. And we'll decide, hey, is this a thing where we want to be stable? We've had all of these GMs and all of these head coaches. Do we just want to kind of build on this or is there an opportunity to go out and add someone kind of over the top that tries to take them to another level, but so far it's been kind of, hey, we're going to just see how he does in this role and see how this team looks with him running the show, but neither way would surprise me at this point where they could come out and say, we're going to keep Gupta for another couple of years, and he's running it, or you know what? We want to go out and find a dynamic leader and go that way. I think that I think all things are on the table right now. I think Gupta actually did a nice job around the trade deadline. He went big game hunting for Simmons as the wolves have very publicly. You've reported it a lot, looked at Simmons, couldn't get anything done. And then just didn't do anything for the sake of doing something. He didn't do anything for they didn't trade a pick, he didn't trade two seconds. He didn't trade anything to move up two wins or cinch the 7 spots. Sometimes they just let it be don't just give up an asset just to do it. I thought it was a good I'm sure they looked at other stuff. I don't know about, but I thought I thought patience and passivity, frankly, was totally fine. I think to me, the most impressive part about that, Zach is the position that Gupta is in right now. Like he is essentially an interim guy, he could say, I'm going to make a move just to make a move and try and justify my existence and try and earn my way back on here. And instead, he did not do that. He hung with it, and he didn't sacrifice the future at all for anything that they were doing. And I think that's a lot harder for someone in his position to do. I have reported that they had extensive talks with Washington about montrose Herald. And in the end, I think the wizards took Charlotte's offer because it wouldn't push them into the luxury tax the way that Minnesota's offer would have. And so they went that way. But there wasn't, I don't think they talked about Marcus smart and they talked about a few other things that they just couldn't get done. But instead of like a panic move or a, I'm going to show you what I can do move he held the Ford and did not sacrifice their future. And I think that's an admirable thing for a for a GM in his spot that is trying to kind of grab hold of the whole thing to do that way. John Krasinski, you just do a spectacular job covering the wolves and the NBA in general. You have a piece out over the weekend about flip Saunders and the poetry of Andrew Wiggins and Zach lavine, his old draft picks, making the All-Star Game along with cat. It's a wonderful piece. You just do great work. Every time he drops something, I see it on Twitter, I am. I'm reading it. So I appreciate you lending us a little time. They got there is a game in Minnesota tonight so you got a nice fun game tonight. John morant's in town, the show's in town, the globe trotters are in town, enjoy it, John, and thank you for your work. Yep, and we get hardened embiid tomorrow, so that'll be fun too. And I appreciate the kind words that you know, I think the world.

"On the show in the building to talk some NBA trades to talk to his number one boy. It is Matthew penny, what up Ben? How are we? We're good. It's been a crazy morning, crazy afternoon for you. I'm working on my levels here. I know you saw the interactions on Twitter that my voice doesn't align to my body and it was compared to Jim halpert from the office. Toby from this is us and Braun Strowman from pro wrestling fame. A couple new ones in there for me. I've got the, I've gotten the gym for the office, the John Krasinski, once in a while, he's like the Coca-Cola and I'm like the RC Cola version of that. And he actually grew up down the street from where I'm recording. But the other ones were new ones. I'm just trying to be a little bit less self conscious here and empower through and talk trades, which is a little out of my comfort zone, but we're prepared. We do the best we can. We're ready. Matt penny is nothing if he's not always prepared. And I told him last night like, hey, you know, just let's talk trades in the morning. Just do a little bit of prep. And you'll be ready and he's always ready and now now was he ready for the kings to totally break my brain? No, he wasn't. Because to be fair, was anyone. Was the NBA? I mean, the reports coming out like hold on, wait a minute, like we didn't even know this was a possibility, and now he's a pacer. Yeah, well, just literally just like you're calling me being like, if we would have known tires, Halliburton was available like what's going on? Okay, let's just let's settle this and let's start start ripping videos for the YouTube page essentially. We're gonna go one and order, right? We're gonna go tyrese Halliburton for demonic sabonis. We're gonna go see Jim McCollum to the pelicans. We're gonna go Karis levert to the calves. And then we're gonna talk grin..

"We're telling you that we're losers that we're impressed by it. My phone is filled with neighbors of mine who hang out with patty mills. Patty mills is apparently the nicest person at all Brooklyn. Patty mills. Yeah. The best part of this is sugar got way more excited for patty mills than John Krasinski. That's the best part of this whole entire thing. It is. A proof was John Krasinski around the DP show? Nope. We could never get him. And I have no idea why. I probably tried harder for him than any other guest. Remember the pandemic he started his own show too. We were like, oh, come on, talk about that. Yeah. I know. I know. Never been a good morning football, is it? No. We had Brian baumgartner from the office. He was great. Awesome. Every podcast that's on Apple has had Brian baumgartner this year. I'm pretty sure. It was the number one podcast. No. I was going to get a lot of podcasts. He's been a guest on every radio show, TV show and podcast. You had him recently, right, Jimmy. No, maybe over this summer. Krasinski is like, in my top 5 of like dream guests and why is that? Because I love the office. Yeah. And I think he doesn't get enough credit for how important he wasn't the office. So you'd rather have him than Steve Carell. I've had corel. That's the thing. So that's why Krasinski's left on the list was what you thought he would be, because sometimes he was great. Funny guy, and he's very serious. He was great. You know, it was more about like the PR people like 15 minutes and literally when the clock went from 1459 to 15, the PR person got on the phone and was like, gotta end it. He talked about the office. He was great, couldn't have been nicer. It was only a 15 minute interview. It came out as well as I could have expected, because you guys know this. You can't do good interviews in 15 minutes. It's very good. Can I go off tangent again? So you've been you got me back into the office when you would always be having you. I could see that Ryan Priscilla, or you had Chris long, you're doing something you were talking about and I binge the office during the pandemic, watch the entire thing, and I love it so much. And then the book came out that was called welcome to dunder mifflin Reddit, loved it..

"Too slow to be the death lineup. I want to pitch slow jam line up because of the jazz thing, but we need something better than that. But maybe the point of Rudy gay is not any of that as much as it is to be a potential defensive upgrade in the playoffs in their main lineups. And you tell us mainline that's maybe take a few minutes here from boy on bogdanovic a few minutes there from Jordan Clarkson, maybe even Joe ingles on nights he looks slow. Maybe I mean, Rudy gay is not a stopper, but he's long and he's smart and he's kind of better than those guys. I wonder if maybe that's more the role that they envisioned. Anyway, the rest of the west is about as projected. There is a 16 tier 6 teams fighting for spots four to 6. The last three non play in spots. Dallas, Portland, Lakers, clippers, Denver, and the grizzlies who lose to Minnesota by 41 night and then beat the jazz on the road on the other night, good luck if you could figure them out. The only mild surprise is the Lakers being in that tier instead of the warriors. As for Denver, we're going to know more about Michael Porter junior's back. I think later this week, we'll see what happens. You know, there have been reports that they fear he's going to be out for a long time. We'll see. But this is why Jamal Murray's injury last year was such an absolute crusher because you just never know how many chances you have it winning it in Denver absolutely had one last year after the Aaron Gordon trade. They were rolling. They were good enough. Now there's an outside chance there wasn't is an outside chance they could reopen that window this season depending on when Jamal Murray comes back, how he looks and all that other stuff, but any long-term absence reporter, obviously, nukes that. Next, we had four teams challenging for the tenth spot the last play in spot. Sacramento, Minnesota, New Orleans and San Antonio. Well, New Orleans is 7 games behind the tenth seat in the lost column already. 7 games, even if Zion came back today, that's a lot to make up. The spurs are four and 12, they're scoring margin says they're a little better than that, but nothing about watching them day to day makes you think they've got some big run in them coming. The kings, of course, are a dumpster fire of chaos. We'll talk about them in a second, but they are 11th by default default default default, the two sweetest words in the English language according to Homer Simpson. But the tenth spot is Minnesota's for the taking. Don't look now, but the wolves have won four straight. I'm almost afraid to talk about it. Before the season John Krasinski of the athletic who covers the wolves like no one else, we did a podcast where we expressed some optimism about Minnesota's play in chances. Like, why should they not be better than this for as the pelicans and the kings? Why is Karl Anthony towns? Not the best player among that group of teams. And John Krasinski ended the podcast by almost my spine is shivering. He ended the podcast saying every time he feels the wolves are on the verge of something good, something bad happens out of nowhere. And literally the next day, the wolves fired gerson roasts their president of basketball operations for a whole bunch of unpleasant reasons. The very next day, but the wolves are better than the spurs, the pelicans are the kings and they should be, even though the angel of Russell's shooting like 38%, Malik Beasley is a little lost in the offense and talents never gets to shoot enough. And he throws these horrible sidearm passes all over the freaking gym whenever teams double team him. But they're good. And their new starting 5, are you ready for this? They're new starting fight with Patrick Beverly and Jared Vanderbilt at the four is plus 85 in 87 minutes a point a minute. It's insane. Vanderbilt is an absolute menace to society on the offensive glass. He's just pogo sticking over people taking balls out of people's hands. That lineup has rebounded almost half of Minnesota's misses. That is crazy. It has the best net rating of every lineup in the league that's played at least 50 minutes by like double the net rating of the next line of obviously that won't last it's just kind of fun. Jada McDaniels is showing signs of life. This team should win the tenth seat at worst. They should be in the plan and honestly the biggest question after that is would you hang a banner for making the play and tournament? I you know, it's been it's been a dry period of time for the wolves. The thunder right now are technically 11th and they've been frisky, got a bunch of comeback wins, but they have lost 5 of 6 in their point differential suggests they'll end up at the bottom with the rockets who, by the way, are absolutely unwatchable. Just totally unwatchable. They're a turnover machine. They have zero structure. The only redeeming thing is alper and Shen goon and all the crazy delightful spinning note look passes, pump fakes, hook shots, all the stuff he does. Christian wood, this team is so badly needs a veteran to set the tone and to set the culture. And Christian wood has just leaned in all the wrong directions on the floor. There's a softness to his game on both ends of the floor defensively offensively. You just don't.

"Never end. Prices may vary What i miss sona during these days of kovin pandemic i miss just being able to dress up a little bit to look kind of nice. I dressed like a slob all the time. Even when i'm doing a show where like a torn t-shirt an old ratty jacket awful. Yeah that's why. I was very excited. The other day mizzen and main her old friends in maine. They sent me some really cool shirts. Okay i guess they got my sizes from somebody else did they. Just they did. They went and they measured a statue of the adana. I was going to see one of those floaty things outside of a car dealership either way. They make a great dress shirt and they sent me these great dress shirts and it's tailored fit performance fabrics. It's so great they can. I got video calls going an interview. A big celebrity. I can put on my isn't in maine shirt. Feel good feel flexible. Gut powerful muscles can move around in this shirt. And i'm comfortable for hours and hours and hours of being on zoom calls. You know it's got four way stretch mizzen and main shirts four way. Stretch missing into. Maine's clothes are wrinkle resistant. Moisture wyking and machine washable. Okay and that's what i like. Put on a mission in maine shirt and i'm ready to have like a karate battle with somebody or do some accounting or do a backflip right off of a high structure and land in a wedding cake doesn't matter i know that mizzen and main shirts are going to move with me. I can perform complex ballet. I can do the robot on the dance floor. there's nothing. I can't do in a in main shirt. So do yourself a favor. Head over to ms in mainz website mizzen and main dot com and use code conan for ten dollars off your first order mizzen and main conquer comfortably guys. Few episodes ago we inadvertently stumbled upon a new segment called sound effects. Theater were sonal. And i set up environments and Conen made the sound effects of the things in that environment but only using spoken word. Yeah i decided that too much work in trouble goes into you. Know for movies and tv shows and radio shows especially podcasts. Trying to recreate the actual sound of a door opening Or a cat walking. And so i decided why don't you just have someone say door open and people will get the ideas genius or you know what i know. You're being sarcastic. But i think i might be on something because we should try to make podcasts. In particular as easy for everyone to use and to create that would be more democratic. Let's this is a favor. Were doing not everyone has to go out and buy special effects or download them on some computer do it. My and i think we demonstrated with our episode. That it really works. It's it got a huge response when it did but you're doing sound effects theater as an act of charity. Know as a man who's not afraid to look at something and say why can't it be different. You all look at what is and go. That is i say. Could it be something different. That's what makes me a visionary in my opinion. Oh okay well you said it was what we did a good job like it was successful. I e awful but we terrible. John was hit. I've had people stopped me on the street and ask for more sound effects theater. And i've said sorry it's a lot of work and i don't have time for that kind of foolishness and then as i walk away i go walk. We walk with what. What way kills every time the last time we did. This was on the seth rogan episode. If you wanna check it out. But i'm just going to throw something out in an environment. Sonal will and i will be in that environment. We'll set you up for sound effects. Are you guys ready. Oh yeah. I was born to do this. I'm not. I'm terrible at improv. I think no you're not really really really worse than the sound effects. You don't have anything to worry about. Yeah ok laugh all you want but it's all right all right. Let's say this time okay. We're we're on the battlefield..

"That's it that's my career. It's over. Goes i think they love it and i was like they clearly. Don't love it. They're not making any noise. And then you shouldn't go to your own screening slutty because people can hear you were. Is john krasinski. Sin this movie. I can't believe i'm jim from the office. John and then at the end of the movie she talks a gun and everyone jumped out of their seats and started shaking the seats. Which i had never seen before i have to talk somebody about blacking out all the time but i definitely sort of everything became distorted. I have no recollection. What happened at that moment and it was just a a wild thing so my point was i was never going to do a sequel. The studio at aston said. Would you do a sequel. I said no way because that was the most personal movie to me that to me was love letter to my kids that was about. And what would you really do for your kids and all that and so it really was the idea of making millie. The lead character in the movie. That became the thing that i thought well. If we can do that that would be pretty exceptional making the kids. The leader of the movie sort of not only is it great because they can pull it off but they represent all the themes and metaphors of the first one like family like carrying the mantle of the people in the generation before you better the maker and hope and all these amazing things you know. It's funny because you brought up or people are asking you where you're gonna make sequel and me. I think you can relate to this. There is kind of catholic boston thing. Absolute love to blank. Who am i to. And it's the irish call at tall poppies. It's exactly right if you get a little too tall. It's in it's called different things in different colors big for your britches get too big for your britches and i know that because you come from the neighboring town. We've talked about this before you know privately. But i'm from brooklyn are rival is newton. That's right and i used to run track against newton north as to run tracks and enough but sure nath and i was terrible so they loved me north but and i do have a very strong memory of running distance. "This over. What are you listening to. Third eye blind. Sorry go but i remember it was. Pt that used to pull the curtain. Right yep paul. So he used to pull the curtain. And i remember he goes. We're all just in the drums are going and we're all just so proud of you. Go out there and get him and he pulled the curtain. And i lost all consciousness and i walked. I guess i dot oled up to you and you could see that my eyes had rolled back into my brain and you gave me the most firm loving handshake and it's going to be great. Just sit down. it's gonna be great remembered. That's what brought me back. Yeah and you were fantastic. And then i think we're all going to be watching the office fifty years from now it's not going to lose its luster because there's nothing about it. That feels fake or okay. That was great in its moment. But you had to be there. If if if anything. It's just continued to grow absolutely and i think a lot of that has to do with how absolutely authentic greg made it. I know that you in greg. Go way back but greg who our show daniels. Yeah were you guys roommates. Just friends no. Greg daniels and i knew each other in college. We got to know each other actually senior year kind of late in college and then we decided we both wanted to try our hand in comedy and we were at the crimson. Right no name. Oh good lord. No no no the criticism. That reason why. I brought up the crimson is because you told that prank story embassy. Nbc event. yes and i thought you were the sex pistols. Prog thing i've ever heard were greg. Daniels was part of that. Prank crimson. Is the the newspaper at harvard. And it's a very serious place and everyone there. It goes on to win pulitzers instantly. And so it's an the lampoon. Which is the comedy magazine is the opposite so we decided to break in and greg was remembered rejoin camouflage pants and we broke in and and we stole that day's edition before it gone out and I ended up kind of getting arrested. But you left everything but the telephone everything. But i kept picking up the phone and going the phone would ring occasionally and like an idiot. I had to do a bit to pick it up and go. Hello hello front desk. No clark kent's not here. Perry white and hang up and so they immediately knew something was wrong but they also gave you a pulitzer which was so weird. Yeah i didn't know you could be a poster for being an ass. But anyway we at the greg i'm anthony poon and then we decide. Neither one of us wanted to go out to la alone so we came out to los angeles but we started out together. We had one really crappy car that we bought at the airport. We bought a car. Which don't do that i bought. We bought one and we got tricked. We bought this at an isuzu opel. We shared it and we shared an apartment and we shared we a desk that we sat on either side of at work and Yeah it was like we were shackled together but then he goes on but drew the cup right. didn't he make utah made up. That's been on my desk for twenty eight years. We should have greg on this. Show what am i doing here. I think you should move along. Could you get me. Could you give me a cup of coffee please. But no my point was to say that. I think that it was so thick and to be honest like you said ahead of its time in a way to authentic certainly for the network and i've told the story but it's it was going to be canceled every single friday. We had a very nice man who came down and he said it's oh i love it We are not going to keep making this. It's bummer and then you basically get a call. I guess like over the weekend or something and says all right come back monday. We'll do one more. And i asked this guy for a dvd of the episodes. So i could prove to my mom that i was doing that. What i was doing was real so that she didn't think i was just on a beach in california pretending to be an actor and i still have that dvd. But i also remember you know a lot of people say we owe everything to the fans but we genuinely oh the entire show to the fans because at the exact same time i tunes had come out and ipods had come out and i remember walking through new york. I went back to waiting tables after the pilot of the office. That's how a little competition and a guy held up his ipod and he said look man. You're on my ipod i said. Hey what's an ipod and be. Why am i two inches tall on the small attack. And that's it. As soon as people bought a show that they could see for free. On thursdays or tuesday's or whenever it was at the time they had to keep the show on so we had our families. Actually save our show. You know We went through the exact same thing as you probably know late night before you got there but in the early years supposed to get cancelled pretty much every week and that's what i would read in the paper and that's what people told me on the street but what what. I always knew that young people were saying. Oh my god that thing you did last night. And that's really weird yes executives are telling me this is no good and then i'm getting like a high five. Yeah people coming up to you and go. I'll cut you and you're like zapped that pimpa is doing according from the show and but this is a good lesson for people listening you know. I'm sitting here. i'm telling you to john krasinski. And he's telling you and he's right. Because i know this from greg. The office was a very tenuous proposition for the first year. At seinfeld was a very tenuous proposition for the first year or two..

"Week. I don't think I did. All right. So she she disappointed a lot of comic book fan. She was on the Howard Stern show, and she shut down. The rumor is that she and her husband, of course, John Krasinski. Are in talks to star in marvels of coming incarnation of the Fantastic Four, she said. No one has received the phone call. That is just people saying, Wouldn't that be great, and that's it. And then she went on to talk about the superhero genre and she goes, They're not up my alley. I think it's been exhausted. We are inundated. It's just not that it's only it's not that it's only the movies had told the TV shows as well. It's not to say that I would never want to play one. It would just have to be something so cool. And then I would be interested in general. I don't raise to see superhero movies. They leave me feeling a little bit cold. I can't explain it. I can't get in there now. I also will say this. She was supposed to go. They wanted Marvel. They wanted her to play black widow. She couldn't because of contractual obligation. She had to go do another movie. She was, she said, that she would have been in she was going to do black widow. She wanted to do black widow because she wanted to work with Robert Downey Jr and Iron Man So Well, I don't know There's a lot there and all the comments. You don't like people's personal preferences of their personal preference. I'm not going to get upset about that. You know, she didn't totally dismiss or no, and she is and she was, and she's also right. Are Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox engaged?

"We're going to start out with snl. Which as i'm sure you guys know. John krasinski hosted. I'm sure you saw at the end of his opening monologue at him and pete davidson kissed and it was great. He was excellent. Big john krasinski fan by for me. At least probably the most noteworthy element of snl was machine gun. Kelly was performing. And i'm sure by now you've all seen the viral video of him carrying megan fox into the thirty rock building. Julie i live for that shit. There is no amount of machine gun. Kelly's back fox content. That will ever be too much for me. I will never ever ever get sick of it. I know i think it's because like i bet you. Some people watch that and as with. They weren't wearing masks. Which i know is frequently discussed but some people watch that and felt like all my god. They're so attention seeking. And i get that clearly but also that's what i sometimes want for my celebrities making public appearances especially those to rate and especially right now like right now. Life is so monotonous. That if i'm gonna watch machine gun. Kelly carry meghan vox. When she's wearing this snakeskin alfred into the thirty rock building. I love that as a highlight in my day. I love when you get a little vocabulary. Heavy on this podcast. What i say monotonous embarrassing. Don't go a rosette on this other confidently don't exalt me no i just. I'm a fan of big vocabulary. Where can i spray. Oh thank you. Yeah just i just obsessed. I am too. And i can't believe that it's only a recent thing like it's one of those couples where i feel like i've spent my whole life obsessing over them will. It's interesting because there's a lot of rumors swirling about engagement. I know a lot of people think that will happen sooner rather than later. I don't know. I honestly don't really have a gut feeling on it. Because on one hand. I know they both said they think they're twin flames especially her. She's very into astrology and kind of spirituality. And she's sure he's her person. But i don't know maybe you'll wanna wait a little bit. More time after the divorces passed. I don't really know but either way into it

"His name is John Krasinski And John writes for the athletic, and he wrote an article by Andrew Wiggins today and everybody's talking about how great Wiggins is playing in in the Bay Area, and what a transformation it is for him and all those kinds of things and one of the things you Steve Kerr had a great quote. In the article, and he says he does, she said that all standards maybe 10 or 15 players in the league who determine the circumstances of a team. The other 450 are victims or people who excel based on their circumstances, You know, so like you know that that's I mean, that's that's pretty accurate. Yeah, I mean, like when you look down look down list of the highest paid Players in the NBA on do you look at you know and stuff. Curry is one of them. You know Chris Paul and James Harden, LeBron James, Kevin Durant. You know the those kinds of players kind of termine. You know what happens in the league on But what happens on their teams, But so many players are victims of circumstances and, you know, we have to say this. You know what if in Boston had, you know the Golden State Warriors not treated Kevin McHale and Robert Parrish. What if they would have stayed with warriors back at that time in 1980, Tommy? I'm not gonna play with Larry Bird. What would have been Kevin McHale's career art? You know what would have been. Robert Parish is career arc because everybody assumes the Warriors would have been great, and we don't know that they would have been great cause we don't know that McKay there have been better off and I don't think there's any doubt but we don't know what with the wars or those two Would've tuned tuned into. I mean, no, You're absolutely right, Pete. I'm curious How much you think plan for the Rockets early on and how they played helped you because I know the warrior system helped me because I'm 68 on Nellie. Let me play outside. Let me handle the ball. We ran so wasn't a lot of half court stuff and in the league back then there were big power forwards and big center, So it was just a different league. And that wasn't really who I who I wa so I think playing for him. Allowed me to get seven years in the league, and then there's not a coincidence. Those are my promotes productive years, along with the one you're in Orlando, But you're so right that you could be the same player and you go to a team. And I think Houston was perfect for you two wouldn't admit. Well, I mean, I got drafted with a large one. And so all of a sudden I come into the league. You know, I'm a marginal player. I I made it in the NBA by playing hard. That's that was my best skill set is that I played harder than most everybody I played against and and so I got to play the Kim. Elijah wants and then I get to sit there and practice against him every day and then. Learn these moves and try to stop him and s O. I got better defensively, and I played it for L. Samson and I'm playing with the twin towers, and we're having success, and we're going to the NBA Finals. And, yeah, there's no there's no doubt that being drafted by that team that I was, I was the benefit of circumstances, you know, playing with the team at the right time, and and so this this was the whole thing. Like John Krasinski is talking in this article. It's a really great article to get a chance. If your subscriber to the athletic to look it up because Give you some insight into Wiggins. On big question for me, Tommy, for you like this is and I was talking to Raymond Ridder, who is the fantastic PR man with the Golden State Warriors. I was talking away about this today because You know, having been part of the Warriors system like I was there with Don Nelson. I was there with run TMC a few and saw the culture that sort of that Molly sort of built and But then it got William a lot better with mission and tinny. Right. So then we kind of built the culture and now he was part of that Nellie kind of built this system. But then there was a long time when warrior basketball was not good. I mean, The whole Adelman, Carlesimo, Muscleman Montgomery era and women even only two point all on DSA went so like they talk about enter, enter, was saying this to jump to post game last game after the Bulls game, Andrew was saying that the culture with the Warriors is so much better than it was in Minnesota. And so and so my point with ended. My problem is that Andrew was picked number one. It was given a Max contract in Minnesota. Tom Thibodeau was here and and and he gave tips credit for being organizing stuff. My thing is the players of the ones that create the culture, you know, and Esso and I was asking Raymond this like when, When was it was the culture built in Golden State? Because there was a long time when the culture wasn't good it Golden State. Was it when when Lake of and Gruber took over was when Mark Jackson came in, Was it one step Curry was drafted isn't Larry Riley that should get more credit for what happened with Golden State. I don't think Larry Reilly gets enough credit Tom because he's the one that picks up curry and he and he's the one that picked click Thompson. You know, so like I just so when? When did When did the culture start with Golden State? Tommy? Why? I think it was me. I think it's a slow process, and I think everybody you mentioned Has a hand in it, because step wasn't Steph and really until what about his fifth year and then Mark Jackson got there. And I think that helped change the culture..

The casts of The Goonies, Friday Night Lights, and Melrose Place are all reuniting

"The one of the things that's come out of our quarantine in this covert nineteen world is the reunions of your favorite old TV shows I think a lot of people are going nostalgic right now anyway just in terms of what you're watching because we're all kind of harkening back and grabbing for a simpler time but also there's so many opportunities now for people to connect over zoom over Google hangouts over all the other meeting apps so now we're getting a ton of reunions you remember John Krasinski reunited with his office co stars recently the cast of that thing you do linked up over a virtual screening of the of the comedy after the death of the lead singer of fountains of Wayne the Goonies just did a reunion of Friday night lights having a reunion and Melrose Place is having a reunion tonight six five one six four one one oh seven one what TV show cast would you like to see reunite remember the cast of the nanny did a table read of a show the first yeah and you know Bradley you'll you brought this Josh gad is kind of at the center of a lot of these reunions well he he's the one behind the Goonies and there's this new web series and it's called reunited apart with Josh gad the first one is the Goonies and that premiered yesterday it was actually I mean I'm sure somewhere I was paying attention better than we were but I saw this yesterday morning and it took place live at about eleven o'clock our time yesterday after morning but then I watched it when I got home and it was about thirty minutes like twenty six some minutes of Josh gad hosting a reunion with literally your favorite people from the Goonies and not only your favorite people but like the writer the director and Steven Spielberg so he brought all these people together it was just like frankly I think one of the reasons these are happening is because it's so it takes such little resources to make it happen you literally just have to have the people and by the way nobody's doing anything right so everybody is available to show up for
