US: No reason for China to react to Taiwan leader stopover
"The U.S. is trying to tamper any anger from China over an upcoming stopover by Taiwan's leader. I'm Lisa dwyer. The Biden administration is stressing to China that upcoming unofficial stopovers to the United States by Taiwan's president Tsai ing Wen should not be used as pretext by Beijing to increase aggressive activities in the Taiwan strait and that such transits are routine. Tsai is tentatively scheduled to transit through New York on March 30th before heading to Guatemala and Belize. She's expected to stop in Los Angeles on April 5th on her way back to Taiwan. Following an August visit by then House speaker Nancy Pelosi, Beijing launched missiles over Taiwan, deployed warships across the median line of the Taiwan strait and carried out military exercises near the island. Beijing also suspended climate talks with the U.S. and restricted military to military communication with The Pentagon. White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that the plans stopovers are business as usual and consistent with long-standing U.S. policy. I'm Lisa dwyer

China's Xi meeting Putin in boost for isolated Russia leader
"Chinese leader Xi Jinping is meeting today with Russia's Vladimir Putin. Today's meeting in Moscow between the Chinese and Russian leaders is a political boost for an isolated Vladimir Putin after the International Criminal Court charged him with war crimes and Ukraine, on Fox News Sunday, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the U.S. will be monitoring for news about what the two leaders say about Ukraine. China has not condemned Putin's invasion of Ukraine. They are still buying Russian oil and energy resources. China's Xi to meet Putin as Beijing seeks bolder global role
"China's president plans to visit Moscow next week, a trip that will both boost Vladimir Putin and highlight Beijing's global ambitions. It's a big shot in the arm for Putin with his troops bogged down in Ukraine. His spokesman says Putin will host Xi Jinping for dinner Monday. China has tried to project itself as a neutral in the Ukraine war, though it's refused to condemn Russia's invasion, which it claims NATO provoked. The U.S. says it will oppose any bid by Xi to propose a ceasefire while in Moscow. Effectively, the ratification of Russian conquest. Why TikTok's security risks keep raising fears
"There's a push in Congress for legislation that could make it easier for The White House to ban the use of TikTok. At the same time, a Treasury Department group is studying the potential security threat posed by the Chinese owned app. More than 100 million Americans use the app for entertainment and information sharing, but it's come under fire from The White House, and many members of Congress, who say the Chinese government could use the app to gain access to user data or spread misinformation. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said he was unable to confirm or deny a report that The White House sent off a letter to ByteDance, saying it either sells off TikTok or the app faces a ban. We have legitimate national security concerns with respect to data integrity. The Treasury Department's committee on foreign investments in the U.S. is also investigating the structural relationship between TikTok and its Chinese parent company. I'm Jackie Quinn

Pentagon video shows Russian jet dumping fuel on US drone
"The Biden administration is rejecting Moscow's claims that Washington provoked this week's confrontation that led to the downing of a U.S. drone in the Black Sea. The military's released a 42 second video of what it says is a Russian jet dumping fuel on the drone and then clipping the MQ nine's propeller. Just decimates the Russian lie about what they said happened or what they said didn't happen. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby notes the Russians say their jets did not hit the drone, claiming it went down on its own after a sharp maneuver. Moscow says the U.S. caused the incident by flying in restricted airspace. They can announce whatever they want. They can say whatever they want. Kirby says the drone was in international airspace over international waters. Russia's claims of restricted airspace are just that. We are observing them. They're not legal. After a brief meeting with Russia's foreign minister in India this week, Secretary of State Anthony blinken is now moving on to the next item on hesitant, the how to help Ukraine win this war with Russia. Meeting signals that the two countries are at least talking after more than a year of mostly silence, but there is no evidence this morning that Russia is going to stop fighting anytime soon, more from double DLP national security correspondent JJ green covering. So what does the intelligence say about what Russia's planning for Ukraine? We do think that the Russians are planning for more wider and deeper offensive operations when the weather starts to improve and the roads get better. Regardless of what they do in the spring. According to National Security Council, spokesman John Kirby, Russia's in a sense already been defeated. You heard the president talk about this when he was in Warsaw. Mister Putin has already failed. He's already lost in so many ways. Kirby said Russia wanted to absorb Ukraine. Decapitate its leadership. Take over its economic centers and strike deep inside the country. He's achieved none of those larger goals. Ukraine is still free. Job market continues to roar this week. The latest numbers from the Labor Department show a decline in jobless claims for the third straight week. Mark Hamrick senior economic analyst for bankrate dot com says this morning it's a sign he thinks of a resilient job market. So jobless claims are the numbers that we've been watching since early in the pandemic when they were in the millions when people were essentially rushing to get unemployment assistance. And the sort of break-even mark on this number is around 400,000. Typically, if it's above 400,000, that's seen as a sign of stress on the job market below 400,000 doing pretty well. Well, we've been below 200,000 new claims for unemployment assistance for the past 7 weeks. And all this, it's basically now been a year since the Federal Reserve started raising interest rates. Now, the official government position is, we not only defend it, we're enthusiastically behind it. Does the president believe that this type of gain of function research is proven? He believes that. It's important to help prevent future pandemics. Which means he understands. That there has to be legitimate scientific research. U.S. Calls Off UFO Search
"A whole lot of trust in government these days. I think a lot of us felt a little burned by their constant transitory inflation nonsense. It turned out to be totally false. I knew it was. Way back when I think a lot of people were exhausted even by the whole Russia, Russia, Russia thing, and so when we find out that somehow, some way we manage to allow the Chinese to travel across our country with their spy balloon, 4000 miles for 8 days, and didn't bother to shoot it down until it was over the country entirely, yet managed to actually shoot down some unidentified foreign objects which apparently we believe are actually ours, it's a little weird, like we shoot down our balloons, but not theirs. Meanwhile, there's a whole mystery you see surrounding all this, because people are asking, if they were really ours, the why does nobody claim them? The national weather service has said, nope, not ours. Nobody's reported any balloons missing. So the government is telling us it's not a threat. Don't worry about it. While simultaneously calling off the search altogether and John Kirby, the spokesperson for the Department of Defense said, look, you know, we may never know. What's actually there we may never be able to recover that Intel. That's not exactly inspiring, confident. It feels like who's on first, right? We let the Chinese balloon travel all the way across the country. We apparently shoot our own down, and then we can't find them. Anywhere, we can't even verify, apparently, that they are ours.

Latest downed objects could well be 'benign,' US says
"The Biden administration says the latest three objects down by the U.S. Military may have been benign. I Norman hall. White House national security spokesman John Kirby says the three objects down in the past week could be tied to some commercial or benign purpose, press secretary, karine Jean Pierre. The objects were indeed flying at lower elevation, and they were in civilian airspace. And we wanted to make sure that we protected that airspace. Pentagon officials gave some lawmakers a private briefing, Senate Republican Tom cotton of Missouri says the administration is sending Nick's signals about the objects, but Senate leader Chuck Schumer disagrees. I think some of our Republican colleagues are being at the very minimum premature and often just very political. Weather challenges and the remote locations of where the three objects were shot down have impeded recovery efforts so far. Norman hall, Washington

White House: "No Indication of Aliens or Extraterrestrial Activity
"There's lots of lots and lots and lots of UFO stuff. Let's start with our favorite press secretary ever cringing here. Yesterday talking at The White House cut number 14. I know there's been questions and concerns about this, but there is no, again, no indication of aliens or extraterrestrial activity with these recent takedowns. And obviously they know that she's got a huge problem of credibility and therefore they set out John Kirby admiral Kirby actually knows his stuff. So admiral Kirby gave a press conference cut number 16. I don't think the American people need to worry about aliens with respect to these craft. Period. I don't think there's any more that needs to be said there. Thank you, John Kirby. Cut number 17 more John Kirby. There is no U.S. surveillance aircraft over Chinese in Chinese airspace. Now we've got surveillance all over China, not over it, but we are on the legal outskirts. They can be on ours beyond the territorial waters of the United States. And I'm sure we have covert stuff, and they've got coverage. We're just not flying balloons over their country.

John Kirby: The U.S. Is Not Flying Balloons Over China
"John Kirby, wagon from The White House over the spy balloons cut number 13. Want to get your reaction to some breaking news out of Beijing, just in the last hour or two, the foreign ministry there has accused the United States since the start of 2022 of flying balloons ten different times over Chinese airspace. Can you respond to that accusation? Not true. Not doing it. Just absolutely not true. So the U.S., let me just push you a little further then. So the U.S. is not using these balloons technologies at all over China. That is right. We are not flying balloons. Over China. That is absolutely true. Okay, and then lastly then, just as will there be, will that viewpoint be expressed directly to Beijing beyond here on the front of the confines of morning Joe? When did the next conversation start between Washington and Beijing over a matter that's clearly inflaming tensions between the two countries? Well, two points there, Jonathan, first of all, we still have diplomatic relations with China. We still have an embassy there. It's not like all communications between us and the PRC have shut down. Obviously there are certain vehicles like military to military vehicles, which are not open to us right now, and that's unfortunate. They don't really go after with any teeth, this administration, the way that they should. Change a little bit yesterday. Brian kilmeade on Fox and Friends. John Kirby was on by spokesperson John Kirby about the story that came out that The Pentagon's analysis is China took propaganda advantage of the way that we pulled out of Afghanistan. And that's a big done. Everybody knows this. I want to play the first part of this audio cut here to show you where this was going as Kirby tried to spin this into a positive. Here we go. Let's talk about the Defense Department's annual report because it is saying that Biden's fumbled withdrawal from Afghanistan was a propaganda gift to China. Do you agree with that? No, I do not. And I don't know that that's The Pentagon's assessment that it was a propaganda gift to China if anything. Nations like China and Russia took a look at what we did in Afghanistan. And we've talked about this many, many times over the last year. And had to marvel at the speed, the efficiency of the effectiveness that a very small number, a very small number of troops, Brian, you listen to me now and hear me out. It's a small number of troops we're able to move that many Afghans safely out of that country. No other nation in the world can do that. Now, when he said now, you hear me out, you listen to me. I go on the attack at that point. Yeah, that's the point where I said, all right, now you're trying to play me in some way. And the continued this way and listen to how this got. A small number of troops were able to move that many Afghans safely out of that country. No other nation in the world can do that. The way you withdrew is the issue admiral, the way our military moved in and out is a separate issue. Your Defense Department claimed as part of its annual report to Congress on national security developments. They suggest that China capitalized on the withdrawal to convince world leaders the U.S. is not a reliable ally. Stop Brian kilmeade talking. It's your Defense Department. The PRC employed multiple diplomatic tools and attempt to erode U.S. and partner influence. And it highlights the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. The death of 13 and though how many people we got out, that's one issue. But the way we did it, the way we promised that government would stand up, the way we're going to leave in and have a transition, the disaster that took place is one of the many problems along with the soldiers that are suffering now by the way. Okay. And sorry just had some problems there with the, but he let me just see if we have it back here. Now for some reason I'm having problems with you two Bond. You ended that 20 year war, not you, but the administration is that China is using it and you could argue that Russia invaded Ukraine because of it. Brian, so the report said that China attempted to capitalize on it. That's a big difference from saying that they did or were able to capitalize on this. I mean, they spread propaganda about everything, Brian, you know that. But look, look at that. How do you rate the way we laugh? Look at how the community has rallied around Ukraine. China has not been able to succeed. With some sort of weakness by the United States. As a military officer, forget about the people that got out because the government collapsed that you promised wouldn't. How do you characterize the way we left Afghanistan? Because most clear thinking people say, worst in the embarrassment of Saigon. What do you say? I'll say the same thing to you, Brian here today that I've said to you many, many times in the past. We have admitted and acknowledged that not everything about the withdrawal was done perfectly that there were certainly mistakes made we've investigated those mistakes. We've owned up for those mistakes. The president never been briefed on it. The president has not taken a briefing. I know this for a fact. They had a report put together about what we're wearing in Afghanistan. The president wouldn't even take an oral brief on it. Why is that admiral? Was the right thing to do for the president to end our war in Afghanistan. Brian, it was the right thing to bring our troops home. It was right thing to be able to focus on other challenges like China. Russia thousand people in Afghanistan does not cleave get your eye off the ball. We have a massive military. "And now chew the top story tonight, breaking news from the Senate would just voted nearly unanimously to expand NATO by admitting Finland and Sweden. On this vote, the yeas are 95, the nays are one and one senator responded present. WTO's Mitchell Miller has more from the hill. Maryland democratic senator Ben cardin is one of the many lawmakers from both parties who say the decision is one that will get the attention of Russia, as it continues to attack Ukraine. Expanding NATO at this moment is a clear message to mister Putin that we stand with the democratic countries of Europe. But Missouri Republican Josh hawley suggests U.S. allies haven't been pulling their weight in terms of financial commitments. This isn't to say that the United States should abandon NATO. But it is to say that our European allies really must do more. Halle was the only senator to vote no, adding Finland and Sweden to NATO would be the broadest expansion of the alliance since 7 members were added in 2004. On Capitol Hill, Mitchell Miller, WTO news. Now the Ukraine, one day the Russian government threatens nuclear war the next day, they call for peace. So what should we believe national security correspondent JJ green has more? Well, this is a part and parcel of the Russian approach since even before they invaded back in February. John Kirby coordinator for strategic communications with the National Security Council. He said, this is business as usual for Russia. They say one thing and then they do another. It's classic Russian behavior. So how does Ukraine, the U.S. and the rest of the west deal with that? We do not take it face value any claims that they are interested in peace and stability in Ukraine is certainly not peace and stability in Europe. Ukraine says the only way to end this conflict is a complete strategic defeat of Russia's military. JJ green, WTO news. President Biden signed an executive order that aims to make it easier for women to travel to get an abortion if they live in a state that no longer allows them. The order also addresses abortions for pregnant women facing medical emergencies. Executive order makes sure healthcare providers comply with federal law so women don't face delays or denials of medically necessary care. He was all excited about it. He tweeted a photo of himself getting the vaccine, he says, Get your shot. I got mine. He's got a face mask on that says the juice. So that way, although his face is covered, you know who would It's amazing to me that he still thinks that people want to see him in the spotlight. I guess we do talk about him in every tweet and remember what he joined Twitter. Actually, I think you would ever having the conversation of Should we follow him? I was like now. We shouldn't. We can't. But he still makes news. Yeah, I like his his Twitter videos that again They're all kind of like vaguely threatening. Hey, there. America. Remember me like, Yeah, We remember RJ. We see a buddy um, so anyway, so now he's a He's a leader. He's one of these people. He's a Kamila Harris like you get the shot. You do it in public, and you do it to inspire others. So O. J. Simpson inspiring. Million's this week. Also inspiring is Thea Extent to which our government has no idea what is doing the Pentagon. This is a real headline. Pentagon Halts Plan to Offer Cove in 19 vaccinations to get mo detainees amid backlash why did it have to get here? The Pentagon on Saturday, Fox News reports. Announced that it was quote, pausing a plan to give Cove in 19 vaccinations at Guantanamo Bay. After accusations from Republicans and 9 11 survivors that it was prioritizing terror suspects over Americans. Defense Department press secretary John Kirby. John Kirby is back at the Defense Department, he says, quote no Guantanamo detainees have been vaccinated. We're positing the plan to move forward as we review force protection protocols. We remain committed to our obligations to keep our troops Safe, Uh, they apparently Beverly had planned on vaccinating the 40 detainees. Gitmo and again before your grandma gets vaccinated they were going to do, uh, war criminals and included in this is the suspected mastermind of the September 11 attacks. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed or chaos them so Is it possible that chaos, um would get a vaccination before 9 11 survivors. That is where we are in this country. Once again, we have failed to shoot KSM. Uh, this time with the vaccine. So what? Like who in their right mind thought this was a good idea. The claim was the prosecutors were concerned that they weren't gonna be able to move forward with the war crimes hearings at the base, which let me say when did the 9 11 attacks happened? When did they occur? All that was almost 20 years ago. And we're still awaiting war crimes hearings that get mouth Right now. And you're telling me the pandemic is the thing that slowed down the pace. 19 years in all of us in the pandemic arrives and you're like, Oh, boy, we were really hurtling towards a resolution on these war crimes. But then the pandemic can't really slowed. Things down. Can't wait till we get a vaccine so we could get these guys back to trial. What? And here's the other thing. To me. It seems like jail cells was the perfect way to socially distance. I'm pretty sure even if they got cove ID there are there would be ways. If you're in jail to keep you from infecting the general population, which is not very large on Gitmo. This we're talking about soldiers there, Which, of course you want them to be safe went up, vaccinate the soldiers. About that. Look, let's save the vaccine for now. No vaccines for the war criminals and Gitmo. But as soon as there is enough vaccine that is after each and every American who wants one gets vaccinated. We should send Dr Fauci down there and he could administer the vaccine to KSM. They could just wear two masks. They'd be safe. They just mask double Medscheme found she could torture those guys. He could put them all into masks. Make it so they can't breathe. You know, maybe get some more information out of him. Um All right. So it just So you know, your government is paying attention to you ever so slightly 7 23 I w e mail where Washington comes.
