"It out you know by the way we used to as a society be able to agree. We don't want the idiots voting. We got enough idiot. Who figured it out to vote. I i absolutely fundamentally disagree with the idea that we should make voting as easy as possible. No i do not think so because if you make it as easy as possible you've got this herd mentality of people are like oh my friends are gonna go vote today. I'm gonna go vote to vote for. I don't know who's all the ballot. Oh i like that person's name. I'm going to vote for that person. You have this happen you know this. Have you know people forget to stop denying it. You know these idiots who vote like that. Oh he's so beautiful. I'm going to vote for him. Like the people the democrats who voted for john edwards back in the day remember him. He was the vice presidential candidate for john. John kerry what was the. The left loved his wife. She was the progressive. Darling he just had good here they call him. The breck girl turned out. He was cheating on his wife. Knocked up some some woman and the less. I can't believe that he was the second coming of john giddy. It's always the left john katie. He's looks like john kennedy. Wouldn't knows who. John kennedy looks like anymore other than he was like banging all the supermodels back in the day and and that's why so many people have left liked him. I just absolutely ridiculous john. The the line ization of the left of john kennedy and then john John john edwards and now better aurore to better. He's got kennedy-esque. Look says the media that's apparently the defining characterization for a credible person to vote for. He's got kennedy never mind. He's an idiot. That guy. I feel sorry for the people of texas. He says he's not gonna run against greg abbott. But i have a sneaking suspicion is because it's pretty clear he doesn't like his family. And i don't say that lightly i don't want to drag it into it but if you've ever released profiles of bill will work. The guy is like a a listless forty or fifty year old who skateboards and drops the f bomb and can acknowledged that that he's actually not a teenager anymore and then he like around the country so it doesn't have to deal with his wife. it gets no responsibility. that guy didn't want any responsibility and the left lane kennedy-esque good looks. We don't want people voting who think that's a good idea and the left in texas took advantage of what they called victory so now the texas legislature seventy the bad guy and say no. These things aren't vague. Let's make it really clear for you. You can't do this crap. And of course We're going to protest. The boycott texas did in georgia. You got stacey. Abrams gearing up for battle. And now they've got the ceos out their dozens of chief executives and other senior leaders gathered on zoom this weekend to plot what several said should do next about new voting laws underway in texas and other states. Can i just pause with the irony here. And note that they're on a zoom call. Zoom a a company notorious for routing video chats through china and potentially censoring phone calls for china yet. They're so worried about our democracy. They're willing to get on that platform kin the former chief executive american express and a frazier. Ceo of merck urge the leaders to collectively call for greater voting access. According to several people. Who attended mr should alton frazier caution businesses against dropping the issue and asked ceo's to sign a statement opposing what they view as discriminatory legislation on voting..

"A great nation founded on the principle That oh, men are created equal and providing opportunity. The United States is unequaled in history. And so we will pay tribute with Attribute his sons of the flag are veterans. Ryan Birdman parrot right here in North Texas founded Sons of the flag. His interview comes up next. And what they do is provide medical care. For starting with veterans Military active military. It started as a burned charity. Many of you don't know Ryan Birdman parrot was A victim of an I e. D. His best friend was was actually hurt Worse and He went on to recover the realizing how desperate How desperately behind the medical technology for Burns, Wass and so he teamed up with doctors from around the nation and UT Southwest Medical Center. What he came up with. And Parkland here in Dallas actually has a great burn center. What he came up with was advancing medical care for active military veterans. First responders have played a big part. And you know what Ryan did for my support. Alex. What's that? He actually did He throw you out of an airplane airplane twice the first time. It was good weather. Second. I was in November. I get an email a You know, when a Navy seal says Hey, I want to invite you up to go skydiving. That was good. You got to go. Yeah, that was that was part and and that's why on the first skydive is my first time ever. By the way, I researched it. How many skydives do you have to do every year? To equal the risk of death from driving 10,000 miles, which most all of us do. 127. Sky dives is the same risk of death, but not included in that statistic is some people just don't pull their shoot like I think I had a gun in my street do that years ago. You just You know his experience. But anyway, just say too far too fast and forgot, I guess, anyway. Then making a difference is the next interview. Djamila Thomas dedicates herself to the next generation through Big Brothers, Big sisters making a difference here in North Texas. And of course, we'll finish. With updates and a tribute to Dallas finest. So that's the program ahead. Alex been a tough first half of the year, OK? That's an understatement. Unbelievable headlines for four months It was just Horrifying news every single day for everybody. And if that wasn't enough, there was a pile on for worst case predictions. Oh, yeah. And every single day the Yeah. The gloom and doom crowd was out in force. And if you know what was the initial estimate, you know, 20 million people will be will die from this and Thank God it has not been. That's been Ah, yeah, The original projections were two million and You know, now, the tragic death. Still, death toll stands near 130,000 here in the U. S. But that's that's still It's a difficult number with the resurgence. And, you know, I know it took the luster off of the market recovery. The Dow went to 27 5 came back and we're starting to see. Okay. What does it look like? With Partial shutdowns, partial re openings restarts of those, and how do we find our way in the second half? I think one of the outcomes for the second half of the year. Is the progress on treatments, Right? You know what they say? Flu shot instead of flu vaccine because it's not a vaccine right? Because it changes every year. Now. It does provide immunity from one strain of the flu, but each year it kind of morphs and and is different. But at least on the treatment side, Gilead thinks they have it with room disappear. The market doesn't seem to believe Gilly. It actually has The the the solution. I don't know. Well, Gillian, I think it's on the onset of this is said that there Not really looking to make any money on it at this time, so I don't really a profit center. Maybe down the road. It might be But van. Maybe they just should have shut up and let their stock work of know that the reason we didn't do we did other medical dividend cos So the reason we didn't do Gilly, it is They took $12 in earnings and turned it into five. And that's hard that took five years. But all right, so let's do GDP forecasts. I just want to say Okay, What does that mean for the markets and I have a premise. Walk us through the quarterly GDP s And then I want to cover the annual because I want to talk about where we are as a nation a year from now, OK? Yeah, with a vision, So the second quarter GDP expectation. Is a minus 30 for annualized, annualized. Yeah, Annualized, which works out to 10% below a year prior. That's right. So about two trillion has disappeared. In economic activity, and then we're expecting for Q three. A 20% jump in annualized GDP key for about any okay, there's recovery and estimates there. So if I take that and annual ISAT, right? What? Bloomberg projects that this year for the U. S minus 5.7, Okay? That would put us said 90 94.3 then we have 4% plus in 2021 day, so then You know, we're essentially 98% of where we used to be. 2022. 2.9% under that projection. It says by the middle of next year, the economy. Is at a pace that would get to record levels by 2022 early in the year, and I think that will be the focus by this time next year. You'll know who doesn't survive. You'll know what things look like in the post pandemic world safe operations. There was a meeting just recently. All the airline CEOs, you know what they wanted from Mike Pence. What's that? Apparently, they weren't asking him from any more money. Ah, they just wanted temperature checks is part of the so I think that's going to go in that made me feel better. That's a great idea. Chris flu season before it's just a nightmare. You're sitting in the plane and some guy said, you know, John Candy sits down next to you and John. Katie sits down next to you Starts to not sneeze and cough on you. Yeah, you You're like home God. I'm gonna I'm gonna catch the flu from this dude. Well, that that those days are over, did get his temperature checked and then say, Well, John Candy, you have to go rent a car. I can't stay in a bad motel training, not trains and automobiles for you. So the L and the trains wouldn't let him on either. Yes. Oh, but that's that's good. I would also say that The positive surprise would be the normal flu season is preempted by a lot of the safe operation certainly will be for our obviously get free temperature checks when you come in the door. Yeah, that may stand And you know, I did. I did an analysis for client the top six analysis. Okay, So for one case, have a menu and we help people all the time. With that Top six analysis is six different pieces of pie. Sometimes five, sometimes seven or eight and base it on really successful long term performance. And good short term performance. Relatively good, short term performance. Those are the two main bacteria. Yeah. And And also, what is that underlying asset class worth? The projection for next year? By this time is we're looking at more normal multiple valuations more uniform. Right. It's not just 10 companies racing away and the rest of the markets sitting at a minus 25 or 30% as we as we experienced here in the first half, you had a dichotomy. Indexes look good because You got 10 companies powering that when they lose traction, That means it could be 5 to 7 years before you get all time new highs on the indexes. This says record economic activity for 2020 to their way back to the top six analysis. So he has these life policies, which I didn't do. He was an insurance guy, Okay, and it's part of his estate and the variable annuities we've got. We've done the allocations. Well enough inside the variable life policies, which I don't recommend or advocate, but I helped him and You know, he started long ago. So now his values or the death benefit, right? So he built the policies. Well, smart guy. And you know part of it. I I like the high yield choices, right? The blue chip choices, which is which have done well and been well managed. But it was interesting to go through that analysis and see OK, I've got to think by this time next year for that client. Where is this going to be? Right. And how are we going to do the allocations? They changed a little bit. Health sciences We had already had in there and and that was that was one of it. But if you want your own top six analysis for your for one K, especially If you're coming up on retirement in the next few years go two. Net worth radio dot com fill out the preliminary client questionnaire, and that also applies to 5 29 plans. The allocations within policies.

"Hearing that kind of stuff. Yeah. It's a lot of time. But it makes it it's a really important story. I could see how any composer worth his or her salt would want. Really taken very seriously. Oh, yeah. Give it the attention in detail that needs. He obviously did and the results speak for themselves. All my way, I'm telling you what like best seen gives me chills. Psalms twenty three totally all that in my notes to word if you just listen to one episode out of this. You gotta listen to this this episode right here. Yeah. And just wait for the song's twenty three. I'm telling you the scene transition or not the same. But the transition between. Yeah. The the men talking is the most incredible thing I've heard so good. Yeah. I had that exact thing in my nose. Just how transitions and moves from characters because they're all on the radio other. But they're all in different locations. Yeah. And they all can hear the radio going, and she's like a ho-. Why were this is Dave starts at right? Dave stars starting in. Yes. That was on the radio exactly starts to. And then we end with him like in. In person. Oh my goodness. Yeah. But it's like everybody hears him doing that. So they just kind of join in exactly all it's so good. He has so good. Oh, you know, what I'll say this is this is probably in my top five even top three Brinkman episode ever. Like, I really love this one. Yeah. It's amazing such a moving story. Yes. Specially again, the knowledge that it really happened is. Yeah, it adds another layer of this. This isn't just what the authors are making up. Yeah. This is what actually happened where there's a added bonus at the end of this episode. It's Dave Eubank himself. Yeah thing like, yes. So what happened in the you know, I said this to this. You know, it's his knee. They stuck real close to what happens in relief almost word for word. Exactly. It was really good. And so they have we didn't even mention it. But he has the team all the Free Burma Rangers. Obviously, they usually work in Burma. But now, it seems like they're kind of branching out working in other countries as well. But so it's not just debut Bank. But they've got this team and. We have sky which I don't do recall. Any of these guys were in the previous ones are all new people. I mean, these, of course, some of them are are locally Raqi. But sure right sky. I don't remember that at all remember, but he sorry. But he is a real person real name sky to Dave you says at the end of the show he says, I turned the sky that I'm scared. Yeah. My guess would be that that they have the people who are in different places like they probably had people still in Burma while. Yeah. Eubanks family was in Iraq flag on that part. But I'm sure that the parts of the teams read all over the place. So and that isn't assumption. But it seems reasonable. I sounds. Yeah. Sounds logical to me so moving to a different place having different people make sense. Yeah. So sky was played by Andy gurus Garros. I don't know. How you say that JR jozy Mohammed was played by Michael Shabo? But that all of those actors in that episode, the it was super I mean. Yeah, the acting it just amazing in this as well. I think this is probably one of the best acted ones. Yes. Exactly. Just just phenomenal. Excellent episode, and I could probably keep talking about it. But we should probably move. Yeah. Man spoilers that were avoiding right now. I know listener you need. Maybe when we've got a. I know we really do this. But maybe when we've got a pretty good idea that everyone's heard it. We can just talk about stuff we want to say. He's so much revenue to leave out the exciting. We could like give this away somehow because another podcast all ready like a whole story a'showcase on the Burma Rangers in Dave Eubanks narrating the story all the. Coincidence. Like, the Brinkmann's all of a sudden come out with like these stories all about the the Free Burma Rangers in the Eubanks. And I was like man this story needs to be heard. I get really see this episode being picked up and being played everywhere. Yeah. It's gets good. Yeah. And the theme is greater love and men. They they drive that home in a preachy joy the head kind of way. It just the story. Just tells it self works, right? All right. Sixty four North Dakota gold. The theme is true riches. And this is about the drag Ston family. They were played by characters were John Katie there played by guy hauling and Liana Bryce, and they were really good. I really specially liked the actor who played John. I did an excellent job. And the story was a lot of fun to. Yeah. North Dakota ranch. Like, you wouldn't expect a missionary story would start there. You know? And Travis the cowhand. What a fun character just to. It was funny because he has his real thick and a southern Texas, drawl, whatever. So obviously he was a transplant. North Dakota accent there. Yeah. Good job at giving accurate accents everybody else. Yeah. John's grandfather had really thick accent. But Travis was played by Asher polls. And I really I really liked his character lot. One of the one of the funny points on this one was somebody asks this was before John Katie had actually gotten married and somebody asks John, what do you think about Katie? And he says she likes cat. So it would never work. I'm with you on that one, buddy. That's funny. And yet. Well, we can't say anything about that. I guess that's not that big of a spoiler happening. Like the first five minutes. Right. Yeah. We already said giant, Katie Jackson. So there you go. You know, good point though spoiler there. Did you notice the auction ear in the background that one scene where he's at a cattle auction? And he just rambling a mile a minute. You know that is so cool actually like a real auction. Yeah. If you've never been to actual auction. You should go just to go. It's so also just don't ever raise your hand xactly, keep

"Skyline studio hanging out with John tasty. You can follow him on Twitter at John Katie T, E T, I listened to the podcast pop. Mom, we're of course, getting some calls and texts about the the Laura Ingalls towns that is walnut grove that was where they lived. And that was the town that's kind of the hub for the community. But they would go to Mankato Minnesota for at least in the series, and in the books to mankato's one of the towns that they actually lived all over they were in Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, there's a lot of properties all over the country that they lay claim to lure Ingles. Family lived here. Well, the big woods wasn't. Okay. Let's not go down this path of I I could do this all day. There are a lot of books out there and a lot of websites. People do like road trips following the trail of the of the Ingalls family. See look this family did like a they did a podcast about traveling great idea that. So we have a list of we would we were talking about game shows and John teddy is our game show expert. It's surprised you that we will give you that label. Does it? I love it. I embrace it. There you go. Leonard has a question. Hey, leonard. How are you doing tonight? Good. Did you wanna say? For john. I read that test. You're lucky. Might be coming back on a revival that that's right. I haven't seen any news about who the hosts are, but yes card sharks and press. Your luck will be returning. They're going to be on ABC, which Leonard I don't know if you have watched over the past few years, but they've revived here amid and match game to tell the truth wasn't so hot but match game at pyramid were pretty good. And they're really not out of the park with these game shows. So I'm excited Leonard, which one are you more excited about.

"Is sponsored by perma-seal basement systems. It is Thursday night. Is it Thursday night? Ray winding down a little bit. I I well for some people some people there we get there. We start with the weekend. Maybe you have the kind of job that just picks up at work all the long hours trying to break that microphone charm over there. John it's not behaving. Look at this weird configuration. I haven't and now it's it's all creaky. Futuristic you have the spring. I believe that's from you know, I hadn't even noticed. I believe yours is from the old studio. That's the one that used to be and the showcase studio on Michigan avenue, and whenever you move. It makes it loud cooking. But patties Mike is mad at unlike this robot. Arm doesn't make any noise. Problem. We are hanging out with John Taylor in the AllState skyline studio you're listening to the Patti Vasquez show. We're on till one AM til Nick de takes over and John was just catching me up and asking, well, we couldn't remember the last shows we'd recommend to each other. So we'll get to that in a few minutes. I did think of you last week. You are our game show expert and a big fan of shows like the price is right. And of course, of course, jeopardy, and when Allister back made his announcement, there've been a lot of conversations around first of all what an remarkable speech. He gave a perfect announcement. Yeah. What were you? What were your thoughts? When you when you saw that. I mean, a lot of us thought, you know, what a hard thing to do. Right. I mean, he could he have a lot of choices in that position. Not say anything withdraw, you know, have a publicist release a statement. But to you know, not everybody feels comfortable saying, look, this is what I'm going through in this. This is what I intend to do. I think Alex said in his announcement that. He has built up a history of being forthright with the community of fans around jeopardy. And usually it's around stuff. Like, should I shave my mustache or not, you know, like for fun stuff? He has over the years built up this relationship. So. You know, I think it was very different for travek and twenty nineteen than even it would have been as say like nineteen ninety five this had happened. He has over the decades built up this relationship with America that allowed him. I think to come out bravely as he did. And he said that he would fight. But he was also. He was forthright in. So many words that the prognosis was not promising or encouraging stage four pancreatic cancer by people who know cancer pancreatic cancer in general is a tough one. Because of where it is in the body and stage four is the final stage. That's as it gets. So. I just thought he threaded the needle of honesty, and breaking the news to us gently so nicely and his announcement people know him as the host of jeopardy quite rightly since he's been doing it for so long. But Patty, I started to think about all the other shows that Alex did before jeopardy, and he has hosted some of the most peculiar shows in game show his. Yeah. He. One that comes to mind is battle stars. Now, you know Hollywood squares right padding. This was basically Hollywood triangles and was created by one of the guys who created Hollywood squares guy by the name of Merrill heater. And it took six celebrities and put him in triangles. And it was this like this was nineteen eighty one. So it had this Star Wars slash video game theme tacked onto it. Gaudy terrible set confusing game, and Alex is having to wrangle a half dozen list. Celebrities every every day on this show. You could find it on YouTube. It is a true curiosity in game show history battle stars Allstars. He did not become known for that. And he's probably thankful for that. But in a different universe somewhere. Alex trebek's known to the nation as the beloved decades-long host of the battle stars show other videos this vailable on. Yeah. Yeah. If you just search for battle stars with an S on the end, you'll get for like battle stars travek because that'll make it come up for sure where's he from originally Canada, always from Canada? It's got a bit of the the sort of laid back chill. You're right. He does doesn't it? Yeah. He has the Canadian spirit about him. Yes. Canada's quite proud of their native son as well. I can imagine. Yeah. When he's such a big part of people's daily lives. I remember when my father my dad, and I used to hang out in particular. Of course, it's weird to think about now because when my father. Was battling sage an I when I say that now there was an article written by Chicago Tribune columnist Heidi Stevens about using that language of battling and fighting. And that that those words carry in the sense that you know, will if somebody loses the battle where they not strong enough. And and I've I've struggled with that before, you know. And I don't know if there's a way to sort of move in a direction where we talk about where he was really struggling with cancer. He was diagnosed with cancer he was trying to survive cancer. But we would we were going for his radiology appointments in the waiting room every single day. He had to go five days a week for several weeks, and it would be the same time. Jeopardy was on in the waiting room. And so you get to know the people in the waiting room, and they would always laugh because my dad, and I would have sort of our are strong categories. My dad is great at like sports and some history, and it was it was just one of those things that always remember those last few weeks because he died not long after that. But was hanging out doing. Jeopardy. Well, I'm sorry about the circumstances of the story. But I do love the picture that you paint. And I think that generations of Americans have stories like that. I mean, it's. It's a touch point. I guess I would say for so many of us, and it's also Alex Rebecca's a person who even if you don't watch jeopardy every day, it brings some small measure of stability to our lives as a as a nation to know that he's on there every night. He's on TV every night. It's just been a staple of our existence for decades. So it's so shocking to suddenly hear oh, he he could be going away from the three three one Alex made another nouncement right before today's jeopardy that was equally uplifting. He's such a class act. So that's that's great. I didn't see that. But let's take a look at that. You folks, do they still go around the country trying to recruit contestants because I remember friends of mine like sending in videos and trying to get on the show. How do they sort of go around the they make now I'm guessing more online now because they can take restauration that where you can take a test online now. Well, and it's not you can't take it any time, but they have like schedule online. Test sessions as well. I don't know. I haven't seen them. I don't know. I guess the answer your question as recently as a couple years ago. Yes, they were still going around the country doing contestant recruiting. And I would imagine they still do it just because it does help to travel to get up variety of of folks. But the online quiz has cut down on the travel for game shows in general, I can imagine it's always fun to see some of your, you know, your Chicago locals doing. Well. Absolutely. Isn't it? You know, it used to drive my mom crazy when they would say originally from Detroit or whatever, and my mom would always say, well, I want to know where they're from now. And I would say finally one day I said to her Ma when they say that they live in LA like these are all who live in L A, but they don't want to just say, Los Angeles, California three times. So they say originally from podunk Nebraska, no offense to our Nebraska. No, no, no. I love Nebraska, I've performed several times in Carney, Nebraska. Yeah. I believe that's not far from like the wild Bill hill. Cock hickok pro- property where where he performed and had he had a ranch around there anyway. But you didn't visit the ranch. I did not. I don't think it was open other. There have been some things that I've seen around the country that I would not have seen in Santa comedy. Like like the true, isn't it? Yeah. The original. How homes one of the original homesteads of the Ingalls family is in dismay Iowa? And I took a forty five minute. Detour you know, when you're on the highway, and it says, you know, exit here for Ingalls house now. Oh, I should go. Take a look, and you don't realize until you're twenty minutes down the road that it's not just off the highway, which makes sense. He's on the prairie after all. And so I I got to see that were PA built the barn. And and actually have recreations of the Bank the little sort of house. They built the banks Plum creek. I believe they are both buried on that property that remind mom loved those books when I was a kid. So glad you brought that up Olsen mean girl. The series was was very much during the barn. It's one of the things. I remember most vividly strangely enough is. Yeah. Pa building the barn with peixe because they had to go. They had to travel into town, which was quite an undertaking to get nails. So he was building it with wooden pegs that being quite tedious performed in the town that they admit there's a town of Minnesota where they would always go first applies Aminov. I can't remember it. They're always talking about the show in particular that they were going to go into town. And I can't remember the bigger town. I mean compared to Minneapolis, but the Inglewood living. And anyway, I'll I'm going to Google it during the break now. I gotta figure that out otherwise gonna bother me otherwise or could. Yeah, I'm sure listener will tell me with the town is in Minnesota more in a moment with John Taylor. What's actually, we'll talk some more television. When we come back. Let's hear John's watching you can follow him on Twitter at John. Katie. That's t t I listened to the podcast pop. Pop. Mom. Yep. Wonderful Morna moment on seven twenty WGN. Get.

"Join us at three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred again that number three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred and I'm thrilled to welcome in studio are very good friend. John taylor. He and his mom do pot mom podcast. And you can catch that every week. Follow him on Twitter at John t t I Don. Hi, patty. I liked to register a complaint already. Yes. Okay. WGN world headquarters three zero three east Wacker have used to walking in and seeing a bunch of beautiful fish. They're gone. You know, what I liked about it too was that they had like a curtain for the fish as well like a privacy curtain or nighttime. You can find those fish at the shed the so we're told so we've been told apparently new meant new ownership of the building and the fish had to go. Yes, I knew owner sound like ogres like fish. Well, I believe it's maybe it's the maintenance I think that there was David that's David Jennings, by the way in the newsroom. Hi, David wasn't. There was talk of perhaps a big digital board going up there, or that's what I had me. Even know the fish were leaving. Until I came into work one day. And I'm like, there's something missing. It's shocking empty. Tom. What are your thoughts on the missing fish? If they do put up a big digital board up there. You know, what they should play on it? Yeah. Fish screensaver. Snake of irony? Actually, there already is a massive digital board already in the lobby. Another one. Well, but that bore doesn't face Wacker. It faces like toward almost like the the turnaround dry like, isn't it face Wacker faces Wacker? It's on the same side of the if you're sitting at the security desk, you're looking at it. Right. So so that's Wacker. You walk by it as you had to take the escalator downstairs to go through the Peduaye. Okay. So perhaps they want to put a digital board facing. Columbus them is what I meant. I do this every day my house. My husband, and I have arguments which way things are. I don't think I don't know. They don't where you've got all the entrances to the various floors. So they don't have a wide enough space to put anything huge up. Sorry. I started this redecorating the whole lobby. It's all you're darn fall apart. You miss though, was the sign the very cheerful sign that said, hey, the Fisher finding a new home. They're going to a cheerful sign that helps. Yes, they did. Put a sign up telling us where the fish went. I worry about that. You know, Patty. I always worry about the Yahoos down on the sidewalk because we used to have the who's they could look at us right now. We're in this beautiful skyline studio no complaints here. But the who's at least could look at the fish. I could think about them down the sidewalk looking fish now look at they weren't looking at the. The fish were mostly for those of us in the building who work here was not for the public. I think people stopped and looked at the beautiful. Iranian you know smokers who visit the smokers. Though. No, how about this was hotel behind me. You can take a look at like looking at fish exotic animals the first first couple of weeks we were in here. They would occasionally be member of the staff here in the studio gazing, quite deeply into the windows across the way now. Just at the Swiss hotel. There's a lot of interesting places where one can look, and there have been some stories of interesting things that have been seen. This is what happens when people stop watching rear window on a yearly basis. They forget. Yes. They forget what happens. I was listening to Andrea. And and Dr strike you're talking about people in high rises not being aware that perhaps they should closer curtain. But do you know what go for it? If you're confident. You're not thinking about it. What differences look at let it falls, right? There you go. Let your freak flag fly or just your regular slag. Feel free whatever flank you got exactly now speaking over your window, which is a great film, of course, by Alfred Hitchcock. And starring Jimmy Stewart listener was kind enough to send me a copy of it because I saw on the big screen Nick dis movie club at Rosemont. Oh, cool. It was very cool only because of my show I had twenty minutes. The end of the movie remember this. Yes. And I and I have a DVD copy. Just don't have a DVD player. So I'm stuck right now with a gotta figure I've got to find someone with a laptop. So I can watch the last twenty minutes of the movie that old laptop. Yes. Is that film available anywhere like on Netflix, or well that was the thing I went home, and I immediately look for at the time when we saw it at Nick dis movie club, NANDA luck. But maybe things have changed because films get swapped out on all these digital servers. Are you watching anything right now on the watching recommendation for this week where they're already I love that? I'm I'm watching Russian doll. Are you watching it? We're all very excited time just got very excited. Yes. I am watching. I've seen every episode catching up just started. I've gone back. And I started watching because there's a lot that you miss when you're first watching it because you're kind of in it. And then there are things that happen. Not may I started taking notes right away. Like, this is going to be this kind of show. So I've got notes like this. You know, this animal the cat showed up here. And then like all the pieces, I'm keeping track. All right. Yes. I excited and not take notes or make charts. Yes, david. I'm annoyed because of all the changes that are on the way because some of my favorite shows are out the window, including Jessica Jones. Yes, that's true. That was an essay was canceled. It was a lot all know all of that flexes marvel shows are gone because ABC owns them. All right. So they're gonna take them on. I don't know if they're going to keep the original cast any new episodes. I mean, there's a lot going on a lot of changes going on. And it's all because they all want to have their own streaming services. And it's like guys people are trying to cut the cord to cable, I know well, and a lot of a lot of people turn to well. Now, there's so many there's Hulu Netflix Amazon prime than the big three. We're back in the big three network error because we have the big three streaming. So now, you're gonna have Disney ABC CBS has all access. I been Comcast is launching one with NBA NBC in the next couple of years. So it's like, okay. And it'll be interesting to see how net flicks copes. I agree. That they have is going to be going away. Because for example, all their marvel content. That's Disney's right. They don't plan on sharing it. I'm sure I am not touched a nerve here with. David is very still in the thick of the morning for more marvel series, grieving on the air. Now. Those of you who watch have seen orange is the new black. You'll recognize the star of Russian doll because stars Natasha. Which Tom hush is a big fan of. Oh, yeah. From all the way back in the American pie day. What was that cheerleader one? Is this can't like this can't happen? To me. I'm cheers. Cheers. Such a great mid nineties memory, so good. Well, and this is co created by her Amy Poehler, and now I feel badly that I don't know who the third woman is because there are three of them that both created this have been writing this and producing it, which is an incredible feat. Because this is wild storytelling layer upon layer layers. I was just gonna say layers, and but very accessible, Patty. Earlier and look I'm only a few episodes in. So she might know better than I do. But I think I get the idea you can watch it and just take it in. You don't have to take notes. Like, I said that. I did I'm gonna talk about it. That's why I'm taking notes, but just watch it take it in. And there's all these details. And then it is, you know, it's so rich. There's so much to notice you can go through the second time and see that stuff the first time through maybe just enjoying tasha leones performance because she is boy entertaining from the get-go. We just hit the ground running with this show. Don't we padding? No doubt about it. Let's talk a little bit more about it. When we come back. Right. Gotta take a break and three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred. We're listening to John katie's recommendation. What he's what he's watching right now. What are you watching three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred because when he's done with that he's going to need something to take down like sort of reset the table a little bit. Me what you're watching old or new I'm watching creek more after this on seven twenty everyone knows that more after this on seven twenty WGN can't say the other word..

"Eh over five hundred people showed up to to participate in our day of service, and we have to figure out how to make it bigger because apparently people love coming to our place, and and committing service. So big shout out to Chicago awesome. Wonderful to hear row. Tell me something good. I'm just really proud to have the friends that I had this time last year. I had some pretty awful friends. So now, absent really, great friends, and we're doing really great thing. So that's not something good all of that friends, really make all the difference. I was saying I think I told the story earlier in the week deny that I'd never thought I was gonna make me friends after I hit a certain age and being on the show, I've met somebody incredible people who so many incredible people who have changed my life. I talked up there. First second the eight four seven says, by the way, for anyone who wants to check out the show that I talked about leverage. It's also on Monday through Thursday, six at ten AM, which means they run for episodes on channel thirty eight on I on TV, if you have that channel before we go to the break, and I want to make sure we check in with Roger for his something. Good either. But Gwen wants to say something to hey, Glenn. What did you wanna say? Hey, Patty, you know, how the elementary school have annual science fair projects for the kids. Well, I heard a ten year old one a science project proving how Tom Brady cheated and. Lance foot tall came. Look it up. That's too funny. Yeah. He wasn't the science fair by ten year wonder if his parents help them with their well, we all Bill kids last name Lieber, Mike libra who's on the show from time to time created the deflate traits. Oh, I I have like I said, I didn't look it up. I just heard I heard it in passing they tend to probably Google it. But here probably here, I don't deteriorated cog or what? But at ten year old one the actual science project for proving Tom Brady. Yes. I actually said that article to my favorite patriots fan John Katie who will be in on Tuesday. And I'll tease him about it. It'll be it'll be teasing Tuesday would tasty. TV trivia take squad have a great weekend YouTube petty. Okay. "The WGN radio newsroom. And these are the stories that matter on seven twenty WGN. Keep playing roads is one of those songs. I know I can't do it. We're not gonna DJ just do the talking stuff. You are listening to the Patti Vasquez show. We are live in the AllState skyline studios. And we encourage you to join our conversation anytime three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred I've got some really fun stuff to talk about with John Katie one of our favorite guests. And if you've been coming on the show for five years, I think. I. Right. You you had a show at second city. Also be alive show spend five. Yeah. You're doing a live show producer, Dan long found you we promoting the event, and I you and I had a great conversation. I didn't want you to leave. And so you've been kind of. This is I know I say this often to you. But it's just been one of the best parts of Chicago experience was so magical to strike that relationship with you. So soon after I got here the feel like, oh, hey, I can be on the radio. I love it. That's great to hear the listeners are pretty good. Yeah. When I interviewed with the former programming director Bill white came in. I was so nervous because it's WGN radio. I grew up on Wally Phillips, and ROY Leonard and Bobby Collins became friends somehow Cochran because we were both comics. So one of the things I said was listening to show for so long, especially like, Kathy and Judy obviously, a big influence on me was that the biggest asset WGN radio has our listeners. That's that's really what brings everything together. I love hearing from our listeners their stories their perspectives. You never know what's gonna be that one topic. The generates calls and texts like one night we were talking about drive in movie theaters. And there were so many wonderful memories of people that people have good one, you know, whether it's like when you know being able to go to the drive in in their pajamas, and their parents will let them stay say up until I fell asleep because it was a double feature or some people who would drive along the side of the roads. And like watch the movie for free this great story. Yeah. Yeah. You get sort of America following into the studio here random Erica right now. Yes, we want to know what you're watching. What are you watching right now? Three one new free discovered stuff. That's just come out. I'll tell you what I'm watching right now is this show that I have to give credit to my wife, Anna for discovering killing eve. Oh, yeah. Have you watched any of this? I fifteen minutes because I get a lot of screeners for the Actors Guild awards. I wanna make sure I watch as much of everything as I can. That's what I want to come back to do. The first sampling the thing with the little girl with the ice cream. And she when the when we first meet. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. What's how folks will killing his about killing? You is it a spy thriller. Sandra? Oh plays. This very talented analyst, I guess, you would say in the British intelligence services, and she basically sets up a team to go after this one very mysterious assassin who this woman who is just wreaking havoc with sort of rich. Sort of oligarchs, I guess, you would call them rich businessmen all over Europe. They can't track her. They don't know who she is what she looks like. But we get to see her side of the story as well. And it's that's maybe that part of the story is a little more exciting. And Sandra Oh's sort of her side is the law. It's developing a little more slowly, but I'm into it. And you know, I was talking with Patty during the break about another show that came out recently succession on HBO, and I said to her, you know, Patty, it's a lot of men talking like, they're big men at each other politics is it it finance business and like rich wealthy family. And so it's like the world of the rich and Ben business. But it's just very, man. And look, I'm a man I like men, but what I like about killing eve has it takes a format that has been done a thousand times with all men. The spy thriller and really makes women the centerpiece and they do deliver. So that's on reruns are on BBC, America. That's it's network of origin. But it just popped up on Hulu couple of weeks ago. If you have who Lewis, you can stream the whole thing so far there, and by the way America is texting us three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred we're getting a couple of listeners who are telling us what they're watching from the eight one five orphan black so good. And Karen says she's watching that. I haven't familiar I've read great things about orphan black. I've seen a couple of of orphan black and have liked what I've seen, but I I didn't get deep into it. This is going to be a story with a lot of things. I think Patty, right? Yeah. We've sampled it and we need to get into a well. And here's one that you did not get into which was Ozark on net. Flicks. Patties Alex, I love and a lot of people didn't like the second season as much I believe, my my my fellow host here WGN John Williams did not enjoy the rest of the second season bailed on the season to bail. I think he committed to the end. It's one of those things where like, okay, this has got to get better. You know, I enjoyed it. I love this sorta turns it Lert Linney alert Lenny's care which is just as good second season. I think it's I think it's just as good if I actually love the ending of set the second season, you know, what took a turn for me, Patty, or do we have more tax? Detective on HBO premiered this week. It's hard season. And so if you watched any of your watch you watch Woody Harrelson math McConnell were incredible the second season with Collin Collin with the exactly Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell was Paul Farrell. Yeah. I picture the face right liars. Sorry, Britishers Colin Farrell. I like both seasons. You did. Oh, right. But you love the guy that desert death seem he liked. Yeah. I like both seasons. But I could understand. Why people were surprised the first season was deep south very gritty, very real. The second season was a little more sort of LA LA pulp was the spirit of the second season. The third season goes back to the feel of the first and it stars Mahershala Ali who's who's excellent. But aside from him. I'll just really felt a very by the numbers to me when I was hoping it would make a comeback for me. But I could not let me get into this third season. But you take a look at it because you didn't like Ozark, and I did it. So perhaps I am mistaken the other. So I I love I love the idea of what they do on HBO with a limited series, which obviously is a lot of a lot of networks now and production companies. So. So here is the haunting of hill house. Oh is also great series on. Netflix got real into that. I love love you. Don't like scary. So really do. You don't really do for a lot of people don't, and I made the mistake I love horror, but this one I watched alone. And there was a night where I was. Yeah. I could not go back to bed because I didn't want to walk through my house alone. I had to turn all the lights on. But I didn't wanna wake anybody up. And I wanted someone to hold me. You said you just crawled back to your bed. It was my heart was racing row. Have you watched the hunting of hill house now? No, I haven't I haven't really been into that. I honestly can't get with that kind of thing horror, though, do you can horror story. It's those are my thing. Superstitious in that way. I I understand I actually liked. I liked the couple of seasons of American horror is that's a gruesome series, too, by the way, that's very much. So yeah, that's great. I stopped on the carnival one. I couldn't get into it. It was making me more uncomfortable than I have been previously. The witches were good. I've only gotten the season two. And once I got the season, two hours. Like, this is way too creepy for me. I think I've had enough. I could. Yeah. I I got creeped up too much by the by the carnival conjoined twins and all that another series from the six year five is Bosch on Amazon prime which is a really good series showy about it sorta this tortured cop. I haven't watched all of it. But the actor is wonder if I you know, he was a regular on the good wife every time you're on I talking about. I think the good we always get back to me. Of the good way is really game. We play here Bosh is I think an incredibly well written and well acted series, and that's available on Amazon prime, and it is an LAPD homicide detective works to solve a murder of a thirteen year old boy. But obviously a lot of things happen along the way he sort of Chris got to be dead kids. I'm having trouble with this lately padding maybe that's why start watching too. That's how I might have mentally block his Griffin. This would have been when I was started watching it because it came out at believe several years ago. So a friend of mine, recommended it may know, if the the young boy was in the first season, but the other series someone says, they don't watch they don't watch Netflix. And I think a lot of people are feeling overwhelmed by how many choices you have with streaming? And I don't blame them all so much. It's a lot. Well, let's let absorb that three one eight one seventy two hundred walking out during the break. Maybe it'll be better when we come back. It's the Patti Vasquez show. We're hanging out with John eighty Thursday.

I did not know I'm a fat whatever it's on. I can I can hang out with. Yeah. Comfortable. It's like it's the perfectly named show because it is like companionship, just a half hour of companionship. Can you watch? All the Seinfeld episodes. Are you are you the same? Yeah. It's not as Seinfeld is not quite as warm feeling. It's not quite as a show. But yeah. Think one of my favorites is when is when Joey wearing Allah Chandler. My favorite is the holiday Armadillo. Really? I said we play the game with that. With antoinette. If anyone wants to jump in three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred. Okay. Here's the name of the game. I'm going to read you a portion of the lyrics from the theme song of a well-known animated TV show. Now. Here's a trick. I'm just gonna read them. I am not going to sing for you. Okay. "Murphy and Paul McCaffrey. Six eight eighty four. Wow. Dude. I got I got a lot of adjustments to make here. Let me just ease into this whole situation. Paulie, MAC, say good morning to y'all. That's all you out there. If there's anybody out there. Hello is anybody out there? That's my Pink Floyd happy new year. Everybody would say what's up to Adam Copeland? Bonnie jail. Paulie mac? Murph returns. Tomorrow. I was telling cope before the show. I I got a lot of ground to cover here. I got a really get back into like forget about work a life mode. I was gonna say it was a tough to wake up to close on like, a formal clothing in. It's been weeks. I've been a sweat pants hoodie socks. Like, this kind of traipsing around my pad picking up my kids. And now all of a sudden here, I am back at the leader. Dude. A happy new year. Oh, man, that's kind of life though. Right. Like this last week and body Joe. And I spent some time last week talking about it the week between Christmas and new years just doesn't count for anything. No carbs. No. Nothing. Parents whatever you gotta do. Yeah. Yeah. But here we are, man. And boy, I gotta tell you also after watching football pretty much all day yesterday and the day before and the day before and the day before all these bowl games bowl season. I was so into it. I was neck deep in bowl games teams. I don't even care about military bowl where you're watching that give me a few snaps in the military bowl. We'll see what's going on. Now, the one we've been all over. Did you check the cheese at bowl last week the one where like, you know, what it was the worst football game ever played how many interceptions are in that game nine that was a record. Yeah. I didn't see much of the cheese at actually that's good. I did I got sucked into the Oregon Michigan state game Sunday. I'll look at it. What are we talking about the two best defenses of all time where the worst offenses of all time or combination of the both? But anyway after committing for three quarters on Mike, I just wanted to Windsor stamping touchdown on the board. But my point is like you don't even have to have emotional ties this time of year. It's just football teams getting after it and last night capping off the whole run big big Texas win, dude. And how about the pre-game tone being set by the steer dude? Wow. His name's b b. Devoted his little name, tag pivo? Jerks away from his handlers. And goes after August, I was going nuts because I was like, you know, this sets the tone for the whole game. And this kata showed that was the game right there. Right. Talk about a mismatch though, too. I mean, the dog is I mean, did you see a small that dog? The game. Oh my God. What are we doing with a bowl on the football field before the game legitimate every game? I know. But what are we to? Same question of ralphie in Colorado. You've got to dudes holding the ropes with a with the buffalo buffalo as you. If that thing gets loose you, but it's a bulldog versus a boat. Like, it's almost like they're too much media around the bowl like why we shouldn't be having them that close to people. He's got like four horns and everything that, you know, the media's thought they wanted to do a picture, you know, that right? That's what they were having a dog walk over to come together. Vivo isn't having by the way coke grab a pen and note for the record. Josh, I don't know if this is optimum Josh's on the board today, we got some different faces. And I don't know if the the soundboard level is up it is. All right. Let's bring in the new year with my I sound bite of the year. And I got to say on the pre-game rumble between vivo inaugur. You gotta like August lateral movement. There you go. Oh. Seriously. They froze trampled. My ass will have to roll it into the dog was like we enjoy told them. Yeah. Yeah. But how like you said that what a metaphor for the game? Glenn and how long oh long time. I mean two thousand five championships. Doesn't five. Yeah. But it's crazy to see that they really are. Now Liger said, we're. I do. Oh, college football expert on way, more of a pro guy, but I like college, and I've got more and more into it over the past few years. I will say Texas to me my perception of Texas is one of those teams in schools that that should be good. Like, they don't like it. When Texas is down like Texas to me should be one of the premier programs in the country. So it's good to see them coming back up because I think they belong up there and when schools like those historic prestigious programs fall, I don't like it, even if I don't like the school. I just liked those kind of programs to be up so good to see them back because you're a student, and I'm a Longhorn. Yeah. Well, you know, there's a long history there to know. And by the way, so how about that the way they manhandled Georgia like a lot of people were upset Oklahoma got in. They shouldn't have been there at all. No. There was a lot of that in some of it's legitimate. I'm not gonna argue that everybody's had, you know, Ohio State, Georgia, whatever the case now, Alabama, I I really expected Oklahoma to at least be able to score more points than they did Allah Murray did not look like Carlos. Uri in that game. And I credit the Alabama defense. But my point is would have been different Georgia got in. Because boy, I mean, Texas, crush them. Yeah. Especially they have a really good running game. And the Texas defense held them to twenty nine yards in the first half. Which is crazy. I mean, just look like Georgia demons show up at all. Yeah. Well, I I think what this does is it it sort of solidifies like the I saw Murph actually got into it on on Twitter with some people talking about over the break. He's he's still he's still into it talking about how the how how he won. He should not be wanna talk right now. College football college basketball, by the way. We'll we'll talk to you. Why he got his wish though? He's talking about how we still gotta have the eighteen playoff. And then the the Clemson game sort of showed everybody like, yeah. But that wasn't even really close. So maybe we shouldn't even have the eighteen playoff. But then you get a game like yesterday. And it shows you maybe Texas was a lot better than people thought her or closer to the top and Ohio State was damn good yesterday. So I don't know if you guys do this. But I do this when it comes to college football, do you associate schools and teams with people, you know, now that I know Bonnie, Jill your, Texas. Yeah. I'm oklahoma. Yeah. Fits is Notre Dame. He's the embodiment of all things Irish job. They've got blown out to sea. See I well Joe Montana. You know what I mean? Like, you gotta have a soft spot right there. I do. Anyway, you are Notre Dame when Montana was there. It's only because he was a nine or after the fact that. Yeah. No question. But my point is like I expected more from Notre Dame a lot more based on everything I heard they hadn't lost a game. They're back. This is the Irish to finally come about. They got smoked. Yeah. Score. Touchdown. No, no. They weren't very good. And what he I think he's five and five now and his bowl games member. He went to the national championship of figures. Back just got ran off the field. So. You know, I was kinda rooting a little bit for them because it would have been a fun match up to see them come to town here. They would have taken over the stadium. Mcglinchey would have been here would have been cool for him, by the way. What was the name of the Oregon bowl game down at the by? What was it? I forget the name box that sounds right. Yeah. What what's red box, by the way? Disrespect. What it is right boxes. A another big sponsor the grocery store. It's like the dollar. It's like, it's what blockbuster became you. Gotta be kidding. You can rent a DVD at Safeway the big red box. I know exactly what it is. Now, I'm afraid to riff. I don't want to upset anybody. But I got a million of them in my back pocket just here in that red box bowl. Have they hurt? Have. They heard about Netflix. You know what I mean? Like, I got a news flash. People just use dial up anything on Netflix who's going to the store. The blockbuster bowl. Yeah. There is no such thing. But anyway, my point is going to be down at that game. I mean, the lower bowl was kinda full Levi stadium was maybe a third full for that game. Maybe the thing about doing these things, by the way, real quick hope they get a lot of representation out here. So, you know, all the Oregon people came down or the, you know, the alumni in the bay area. But boy, they would that was they could he have that game at AT and T they probably should have. But you're doing these games in neutral sites in a holiday week like who's who's making that trip said a family and boosters, well and students and students have the time. You know, they have the time off and stuff. So back home, though with family, I feel like this. I mean, it's a funky time of year to do it. Because you're you're you're off campus. Nobody's really around. You can have a school hosted. I guess it would be weird. I was hoping to get a day day citing that game too for the Michigan state side of things. But I think there they were. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I saw Anthony Slater said data and boogie hopped the plane from Phoenix too vague. I saw team came back in those guys went the party and the rest of the team was celebrating in the air on their way back here. Now, do we speaking of and we'll we'll cover a lot of stuff today. We'll kind of spin it around, but how close is boogied to be being on the floor. Finally. It's gotta be coming soon. There were saying January. It's january. I think we're hearing now maybe even closer to the all star game. Yeah. It's not gonna be one of these given us giving us really a timetable. You just getting better. We're hearing that he was scrimmaging one on one against John, Katie. And. Video. So I don't know like they have they been kind of quiet about it. But they need help with the center position. Yeah. Yeah. You know, the dubs were were good. And then they were not good depending on which game you watch other. Okay. Yes. Right. Back to back games where they put up a lot of. I mean, Phoenix though. That's what you're supposed to do. What you're supposed to do the. Yeah. But the the big thing while you were gone Paulius is what's wrong with clay? That was the whole know what on that note. We'll take a Pozniak chew on that on the other side. If there is anybody out there. We'll open up the line today at eight away Cambier chime in you guys know, the text line would do came to our business. Check sponsored by city, national Bank, business and technology.
