Podcast Excerpt from Led Zeppelin - "Achilles Last Stand"

"So in september of nineteen seventy five robert plant still in a wheelchair joined jimmy page in southern california to write some new songs bass player john. Paul jones and drummer. John bonham would join them not long after once. They finished rehearsing most of the material in california. The band then relocated to music land studios in munich germany to record the album in november. The challenge was that the rolling stones had already booked the same studio for december. Which left led zeppelin with about two weeks to record the whole album. Jimmy page who not only played all of the guitar parts but also wrote virtually all of the music and produced. The album was working eighteen to twenty hours a day on it in the end they ran out of time. And jimmy had to ask mick jagger for two more days. In the studio to finish up jagger gave him the two days and jimmy page almost by himself recorded all of the overdubbed seven songs worth in one single night. And then jimmy. An engineer keith. Harwood mixed the whole album. The next day the album would be named presence and it was released in march of nineteen. Seventy six robert plant described this struggle to make the presence album as our stand against everything our stand against the elements against chance. We were literally fighting against existence itself. Unlike every other led zeppelin album. There are almost no acoustic instruments on presence at all. No keyboards no mandolins or recorders. No acoustic ballads. This is an album dominated by jimmy page's electric guitar wizardry and achilles last stand may be the pinnacle of his guitar playing and arranging genius achilles. Last stand is the first track on the album opening the record with a slow fade in on jimmy. Page's guitar played on his legendary gibson. Les paul nicknamed number one. The part is doubled and then panned left and right almost imperceptibly in the background there. You can hear john. Bonham hit a few notes on a symbol and with one hit of a snare drum into the song.

"There. There is a disturbing event later in his life where jones is accused of raping a twelve year old girl. It's sometimes hard to deal with the character flaws of men who contributed so much to the founding of the country. I think we need to be aware of both the good. And the bad. Celebrate the good while acknowledging the bad. If you want to read more about john paul jones. My book recommendation is one of several biographies about the men. This one is called john. Paul jones hero father of the american navy by evan thomas. The book's been around a while I published in two thousand and three. It's just over three hundred pages not counting the notes and index and it gives a pretty good detail about jones's life the author. Evan thomas is probably best known for being editor of newsweek magazine for many years as well as his appearances as a tv commentator he's written a great many books most of which had to do with more recent topics or people jones's fame received a boost in the early twentieth century when the us moved his body from its burial place in france to a new tomb built for him at the naval academy in annapolis maryland. Capitalizing on this fame. There are a great many twentieth century biographies about demand which you can find on archive dot org. However for my online recommendation. I went to his original members. Near the end of his life jones.

"Instead. Jones took an assignment as a lieutenant aboard the larger ship the alfred which was commodore hopkins's flagship. The alfred was a relatively new ship. Built as a merchant ship in seventeen seventy four. Its owner robert morris who served on the marine committee so ship to the navy. In seventeen seventy five captain doubly salt and staw. The alfred salt install had been an experienced merchant captain and he was also the brother in law of silence teen as lieutenant. Jones sailed the alfred to the bahamas for the raid that i discussed back in episode eighty four. I mentioned in that episode that on the return trip the fleet encountered a british worship. The glasgow but was unable to capture it. Commodore hopkins took great criticism for that failure and one of his critics was john. Paul jones although he tried to be respectful to his commander jones made clear that the leadership during the mission was definitely lacking. He wrote to a member of the marine committee in congress about both commodore hopkins and captain salt and stall following that raid. Congress commissioned several more ships after the captain of the providence moved to a larger ship. Congress once again offered command of the providence to jones. This time he accepted with his own command. Captain jones spent the summer. Seventeen seventy six around long island. New york transporting soldiers and escorting merchant ships as everyone waited the british fleet which prepared to invade new york. That fall later. Jones sale down to the west indies capturing several british merchant ships and dodging them much larger british worships in the fall he sailed northward around nova scotia to avoid the hurricane season to the south and there he captured several prizes. Unlike your average privateer though jones was interested in more than just prizes he rated the fishing village of canseco destroying fishery and taking on additional sailors. He also captured sixteen fishing ships. Six of which he was able to sail back to new england jones received word that more than one hundred american prisoners were being used as slave labor in the coal pits on cape breton. He tried to organize a fleet to rescue them in pursuit of this he was given charge of the alfred and hamden along with his own ship. The providence however he couldn't find enough crew to sail all three ships. Initially he put crew aboard the larger and sailed off along with the hampton leaving the providence behind.

"Paul got his big break. When the ship's captain and first mate aboard the john died from yellow fever while returning from the west indies. Paul successfully navigated the ship home and was rewarded by the owners by giving him command of the ship. It was seventeen. Sixty eight and paul was only twenty one years old captain. Paul got a reputation as a strict and festus ships. Captain merchant vessels at the time often resorted to violent force to control their crews. Corporal punishment was common on one voyage to the west indies captain. Paul had cause to have a carpenter's mate by the name of mungo maxwell flogged while the ship was in tobacco. Maxwell filed a complaint against paul for assault and abuse. A local admiralty court held that the beating was reasonable and acquitted. Paul maxwell then left the ship to take another ship back to scotland. Paul also returned to scotland with his cargo. Upon arrival the sheriff met him and arrested him. Maxwell had died on his return voyage. His family believed his. Death was the result of paul's flogging and wanted him arrested for murder. Paul was able to obtain bail and return to tobacco to get a copy of the admiralty. Court's verdict there. He also obtained the testimony of the captain of the ship on which maxwell had died. That captain testified that maxwell had died from a fever and low spirits not from the flogging. Therefore paul eventually got. The charges dismissed the couple years later. Paul found himself back. In the west indies facing another problem. Crew paul's cargo had spoiled and he was unable to pay his crew. Several sailors broke into the ship's store of liquor got drunk and violent and demanded their pay. One of the larger sailors. Came after paul with the club ball grabbed a sword from his cabin and after being backed up by the crew member ran the man through killing him this time paul did not trust the legal system to acquit him. The dead man was a local on small island and had a great many friends upon advice from some of his own friends. Paul abandon the ship and found passage on another ship to virginia. He arrived there on the run and almost broke in seventeen seventy four. He adopted the name. Paul jones in order to avoid anyone looking for a fugitive murderer named john. Paul jones attempted to start a new life in america. His older brother had moved to virginia years earlier but he had died before john's arrival jones also made new connections relying in part on his masonic. Membership has an introduction. He eventually settled in philadelphia. When war broke out. In seventeen seventy five jones probably could have gotten a lucrative position running a privateer vessel but instead he wanted a commission in the continental navy thanks to the patronage of virginia delegate richard henry lee. The marine committee offered jones. The command of the providence of worship in the new fleet jones rejected the offer out of concern that he was inexperienced with type of sale that the ship used he later said that he regretted.

‘The Bachelorette’ Casting Shakeup Expected for Upcoming Season

"And I know we don't normally cover bachelor bachelorette stuff but this one thing kind of just took our interest and personally having watched bachelor in paradise. I have a real liking towards Teixeira. So we just wanted to discuss because I think it's interesting. So. As you guys know Clare Carly was the Bachelorette her season of course was interrupted with the whole Cova situation. And nothing is confirmed with basically the rumor is that she refused to continue shortly after filming began. Because she fell in love with one of her contestants. This guy named Del Moss he's thirty one. You know he there was a little bit of drama I think early on with his social media activity according to reality Steve which I can't speeches reliability but I can say he has been right. A lot of times said the basically she fell in love with him night one she gave him the first impression rose and she you know think about anyone else she felt so hard and she was done. and. So. I guess she really just didn't want to continue filming and so. The producers obviously were freaking out and Teixeira Adams who is twenty nine years old she was on Colton season she was basically the runner up. Her and Hannah after Colton basically quit to get. CASSIE and she was on Bachelor in paradise and she was dating John Paul. Jones. She's just a bombshell. I've always thought she was a class act. She's stunning. She's really good energy. I actually am really surprised that she was not always the choice now that I'm looking back on it although. I. Remember when Clare was initially announced we were thrilled because I think it's really exciting when. The woman is a little bit older maybe want something different in her life at that point whatever. But what's interesting is if you remember when they had done the initial casting, they had to let some people go because they wanted order contestants. So apparently, and again, I can't tell you this designed to present. This is what's being reported apparently, they kind of were calling back on both some of the contestants eight initially lecco because they were too young and also some of the contestants that Clare had eliminated. So I don't know what's going to happen, but you know Franz Verbs, let's just take this as factual. I think it's more fun to analyze it that way. And I have to say like while I'm thrilled if this is the case these I would so much rather watch tasty to be honest I think she's just really fun and lively and I didn't I got a bad taste in my mouth from Clare after initially liking the whole Matt James Situation I just thought that that was a little bit. I don't know I was not into it when she kinda call now for basically doing charity work and like I'm happy that Claire Found love that's going on. But what's the fuck? How many people think they found their person the first night you know what? Yeah. I mean listen I'm not a bachelor watcher. So I don't like there's a lot of I guess. Details and and patterns and things that happen over the seasons like with different people and people who nuclear people don't like I'm not involved in any of that I really don't know I have a very like personal view of the situation but to me I always thought the whole point was to find the person you wanted to be with the bachelor and a lot of people probably knew in the beginning but continued to date throughout the show like I just I just thought that was the point maybe I'm off with all of my lack of experience in the bachelor but from the very beginning watcher beginning understand her it seems like that's kind of the point of the show. No. I mean, yeah you know listen I do believe that there are certain times when you just know and you're like, this is my person and there's two sides to that one one I'm sure one side could say like. She's right. It wasn't paired the other guy she was doing them a favor, but the other side is. Okay fine. You have that in how much better of a story will be that at the end of the day you knew since day one I don't know the whole thing seems weird. If this is really the case, all I will say like of Clare's happy and she's with this guy in their happy he's hot For her but if tastes the Bachelorette, that would be some shit.

"Chicago's most trusted meteorologist Tom skilling for TV news at ten watch Chicago's very own WGN thanks again to our Jerry o'connell hair cut night in America you can catch that on demand all right let's talk music right now music fans listen up today at two o'clock fans can tune into led Zeppelin's YouTube channel to see the reunion concert from two thousand and seven it's going to be available for seventy two hours and one of our favorite guest one of our favorite rock stars that was at that show on December tenth two thousand seven it is James young from sticks J. Y. how are you happy Saturday where a there are generally distance data now and in the western suburbs in the you know a little stir crazy here but we'll survive for a guy that's always on the road you have to be going nuts it's not a very long drive but no I honestly I've needed this time and all my love in the old house was built before well eighteen seventy one and these old houses need a lot more attention than the new ones do and I've been on the road as much as we have been over the last twenty years this one that has been seeing a bit of neglect so I'm catching up on some of those things I love that you're doing work to at your house I love that but J. why one of my favorite stories that you love to talk about number one you're what you've been in music forever you're the lead guitar as one of the greatest rock bands that should be in the rock and roll hall of fame but that's a whole other conversation but you love going to concerts and there's only two people that I know of her two concert that you have been in all of and told us about it on the radio number one I think was check back at the house of blues your huge Jeff back guy aren't you well I saw the Jeff Beck group actually and that was actually at the moment we called a Lech Creek theater for a while it wasn't you know like forty eight hundred north on Broadway I was a small room that's kind of where the lab director that leads up and came there for the first time I saw them the who the first time I saw the most of you know one week after they were at the the custom Monterey pop they were to write later it's on July fourth nineteen sixty seven I was seventeen years old and Townsend smashed purple you've stratecast dramatic political there the next year hello Jeff Beck group they had Ron wood on bass and Rod Stewart on lead vocal year after that so I saw a lot of big voice a cream in number of times with the you know the original line up some but I remember when you went to the show on December tenth two thousand seven because you called us at the time you called us from the show from London I was doing the show with Jane Monsoor S. who is your old neighbor and by the way if I don't mention Jane I'm gonna get yelled at that time they were on you know in the southern burbs but yeah I had a long talk with her just just the other day okay nice but there was a bill there was one billion people and I was one of bomb in the lottery to get tickets for this concert this was at the time was the biggest ticket on the planet yeah I just spent the money I you know it's for a good cause damage I'm there to get was really you know Led Zeppelin reunion how we all thought of it because it was the only time the plan page got back together it was here that I was gonna be the last time it was the last time but it was all really to raise money for this charity it I'm an arrogant had started and he was a Turkish guy became the other night statement pointed lack records signed the likes of Aretha Franklin and many great R. and B. artist so thank you for that aired again and then there was a huge poster of the stones and middle of the road and let up on was on a lack of well sorry this was this really for his charity and they've got it all back together of course John Bonham the regional drummer had passed away but his son Jason who I just become acquainted with that year Jason Bonham was the drummer for for that year and have them just so happened to those seven we were at a three act bill with leopard styken foreigner so but it was just him like we just met Jason was a great guy and he's been playing drums with you know with the original with Jimmy Page and and right plant together for the first time in ages until I got to go see that and look at those my band mates that I want to go over and so we have two tickets for the show and got some airplane tickets and the hotel booking and got on the airplane what were the expectations for the show did they yet did they rehearse ahead of time that they rehearsed for weeks what was that what were the expectations you know I presume they rehearsed a lot but I don't know man I mean John Paul Jones who's bass player keyboard players I mean he's really you know he's really just a solid you know musician whom probably know everything it probably would have been guessing was kind of a bad leader doing page wrote most of that stuff on a guitar so he you know he was gonna going to plant the had been performing certainly on his own solo stuff but you know I I bet I bet because it was a big deal that they did because I had to play nice to one another write and rehearse a lot and then and Jason the great thing about having Jason there was kind of like when Todd jumped out of the past we have had to come in our band will tied by the sticks in the beginning and he remembered how we had to comply that we forgot how we ended so I mean he knew stuff we reviewed the arrangements but the way that I think Jason I heard that from from someone the the Jason's new hearing different better than paid employment so J. why he grew up with Led Zeppelin I mean his dad was the drummer in the band so we had to remember some of that stuff especially with the self taught or did he take lessons for drumming you know I've I've never asked that question I mean J. we have a great drummer right men and however you get there I mean I'm I took very few lessons but I did take some lessons in the beginning that many but actually my mother insisted I do that you're going to be really proud of advance more colorful Beatles song because they're playing guitar although it all but certain piano and the Kurds play band instruments at a at a very early age five in fact my family but ultimately from British jazz guy who'd come over with the with sort of the the Beatles wave because of it I have a long hair and try to log on I think searching for some birds if you can go with the vernacular of that era and maybe I learn a lot about musical theory because I I remember really I like jazz but I never really did try to play it and so I learned a lot of these crazy jazz chords and learn music structure and he's got a he told me about the who says but Brickner instruments whatever who did you want to do that and I said to myself yeah they do so we're talking with J. Y. from stags who was that that led Zeppelin concert back in two thousand seven it's only gonna be available for seventy two hours on led Zeppelin's YouTube channel starting at two o'clock Chicago time now take me back to two thousand seven year in the O. two arena in London and right before led Zeppelin's gonna take the stage at you know the set list did you want to be surprised tell me about it well it's I mean we just you know it was a who's who was over there we ran into Jerry Michaelson you know from jam was with on the plane with us going over there we even though we Samen or getting off so we can hang out in the side have dinner the night before the show and and associates turned into a real love fest over there and we've got a bunch of the hard rock you get a chance to go down the hard rock in London where there was some head to Hendrix's original flying V. was so we I mean the it was a who's who of anybody that cared about that era of music and that had the means to get there and you know who where is the story that was on all that the Joe well you would argue with Jeff back about whether Mick Ronson who was always guitar player with any a good guitar player or not and so it's a silly silly kind of show biz dropping names I've someone set up a big girl just walked past their one minute ago I just missed him in the lobby I know I've heard in this picture but I've never met him so I mean it was you know as I'm giving you I'm giving you all all the stuff from the old days to the least of the nineties and so if anybody every we were just thrilled to be there and and there's a bunch of people understand that we recognize they talk to me recognize me whatever and but there is you know it was it was just a the main event that it's the best it's the best led Zeppelin concert I ever saw all I can say how many times have you seen Zeppelin some five times older are they a good band in concert well they G. pages a great studio guitarist you know his magnificent the studio but is that if I found that the band was a little sloppy live for whatever reason and Robert Plant all well I should be saying a lot of people interested in it but but you know this is this is the best candidate rigid in that page played great Jason Bonham played great John Paul Jones always rock solid plant plant actually hit the notes would you really yeah I think those guys are doing so many shows in a row and he was saying those all those notes in the stratosphere onscreen is doing right I think he just got his voice was thirteen a lower registers later on in the solo career but he you know that was he at the notes and I was you know was like this was meant to be this was the show that was meant to be wow because we were talking I had the you know the M. TV the original MTV VJs on a few weeks ago we were talking about live date with Alan hunter and mark Goodman and I remember led Zeppelin no one cared how bad they sounded they were just at live aid but that was a horrible performance rob Robert Plant said that could have been their worst performance ever at least so I never seen paging plants I've of course had never seen Led Zeppelin in concert but so this was a good show the O. two arena the best one I ever saw yeah wow I thought yeah good times bad times the opening number you remember that right oh sure though is that I mean you know back in my teenager was a record over and over and over sure and you know a whole lot a lot of is actually the song was written by Willie Dixon number they didn't credit the monopolies really to consume them and they settled but I guess the the cost of the settlement was what possible legal views were to get there so we'll even when I'm getting much from it but I'm dear friends of course with the Dixon family who now they'll just do the twenty twenty five minutes ago really to compose haven't foundations so yeah I want one of those Henry Dixon was.

"You by wind trust Chicago's bank in presenting sponsor of the wind trust crosstown series somebody's gotta win it might as well be you how nice would it be to go to Arizona right about now well you mention bass players and rock and roll man people start texting and Paul McCartney John Entwistle John Paul Jones bill Wyman Nikki Sixx okay I gotcha I got it Ben Bradley how are you hello Pete could be with you I mention that Michael Anthony the bass player when in Sammy's new band the circle former basis for Van Halen would he be number one on the list of bass players in rock and roll I think you got to give him the credit yeah okay right yeah I mean how often are you listed yes I keep it right here in my desk drawer I mean you talk about guitars and drummers you don't really talk about bass player now yes Martin Sandoval yes state senator of some prominence I have a question for you yes took bribes up to two hundred fifty thousand dollars yes light on his taxes this is how they found all of this out where did he put the money did he put it in the bank I know I would not assume so that's generally not a good idea I know but so we can get pretty creative about where they put their money believe a politician down south was fond of using the freezer I don't we don't know we're senator sand of all stored as cash but we can tell you that it was rather interesting moment today the Dirksen federal building because we've known for months that this federal investigation his centered around Sandoval who was the head of the Senate's transportation committee he was a democratic leader yep in the state house and what we didn't know before now was that he is cooperating with the feds and the US attorney in Chicago John last saying that set of all has agreed to help on several matters which is which means which may might he man to get a call what he knows who we know is that about we don't know whether that cooperation existed before now yeah he's it's been known that he was the focus of this federal investigation for several months now so you can rest assured that you have no one in their right mind would have any conversations with him that would implicate themselves in recent months but you know set of all was a key player Natalie in Springfield but also in cook county democratic politics and what they got him on was accepting bribes from a company the feds tried to dance around naming but the senator himself accidentally blurted out in court the company is save speed in there the operators of red light cameras in the suburbs oh boy and couple of years back when safe speed he was anxious to get legislation that would allow them to put up their cameras in the suburbs they went to sand of all and he basically said is speaking like a mob boss that he could provide them our protection as long as they given protection money and is that come out of a person's mouth knowing that you live in Chicago one of the cricket is states in the union well that's a great question and it was asked of the US attorney today John Laotian of what why is it that people keep doing this over and over again right they've seen so many of their contemporaries get page for it I handle Lausche didn't take the bait the reporters bait he said hell at you all speculate on the wise but it's been something that is being shocking to those of us who cover it perhaps we shouldn't be surprised but if you remember you know governor George Ryan went to prison yep and then his immediate successor broadly look if itch essentially you know use his office to for his own personal gain after campaigning on I'm not going to be George Ryan Ryan was you know in in everybody's out for themselves and all the older that have gone to jail in with about who will do if it she's sentence was so harsh and your does he deserve a commutation from the president because look he you know he he he got such a stiff sentence and never got a dive himself people who say that are ignoring the fact that he did it with eyes wide open yeah predecessor was in prison for abusing his office he was shaking down the children's hospital downtown he was basically challenging all sorts of official lax for personal gain I'll be it either through his campaign fund or in the case of Barack Obama Senate seat trying to look for a a good job for himself now in the case of sand of all what we don't yet know is who he can implicate so we've had this investigation swirling about comments lobbying practices in Springfield we have Mike Madigan's long time top soldier a guy by the name of a clean home was raided we've got a daily so lease the Chicago democratic aldermen who is also cooperating with the feds who's been very very quiet we don't know where she what he is delivered for the fed well I know Danny so least they kept his phones did they tap Martin Sandoval's phone too well it appears that they have sand of all on tape for the bribery the exchange of money from safe speed allegedly to sand of all now whether they were yeah they they had to have some sort of proceeding evidence to get those video recordings and whatnot in this recording device so put into place what we don't know is how long and that's a great question right how long have the fed's been up on all of these phones that they're listening to all of these conversations susceptible not cooperating and keep in mind we have another state senator out there the guy who is the leader on casino bills for years and years and years the Tribune's identified senator Terry link from the northern suburbs as somebody else who wore a wire is cooperating with the feds now link denied it once but what did they have largely I'm pretty correct yes so what did they have on links so he have to wear a wire well yeah that that's what it always comes down to right it's the federal squeeze in so you know it how they got sand of all the cooperate is he'll have my tape apparently accepting a bribe and then they got him but not reporting it on his taxes in them they were able to flip him what I think is really interesting is I keep in mind not a lot of politicians have been willing to flip and now we have at least three Danny so lease Martin Sandoval and according to the Tribune reports Terry lake so this is all going to go ahead who know a lot the US attorney was there specifically today whether Mike Madigan is a target of the on going investigation that was my next question and the US attorney has said he would not comment and that's you know a of course political writers love to go Nokia he wouldn't say the Vatican's not a target but the reality is no no federal prosecutor is going to publicly identify who it is and who is not a target of their investigation Mike Madigan is historically been a very careful guy very careful about what he says and who me says it but he certainly got to be feeling the federal pressure of this investigation if for absolutely nothing else let let's assume that the leader of the Illinois Democratic Party Mike Madigan has done absolutely nothing wrong you know years ago he talked of his own personal ethics rules have that he stringently follows Jesus let's assume for the sake of this conversation that might benefit is that absolutely nothing wrong the fact is you have a lot of people who are democratic operatives in high up in the in the party who have been caught doing wrong and it's got a severe legal limit everyone's willingness to operate even within the law right everyone's got to be so nervous what we don't watch of of how politics is run in this state bumps up against his reveals would you be nervous in the first place after blog go went to prison and they recorded all of his phone calls especially if you're Mike Madigan in spring field that would've been a red flag for me and by the way if there's anybody listening right now running for office anything you say on the phone or Texas someone they're gonna use against you just an FYI it never ceases to amaze me what people are what's what otherwise smart people get caught well they'd they'd done it for so long they feel like they're about feeling laudable yes absolutely so what happens to sand of all now does he gets sentence well wait no so they're not to sentence him until they can assess the value of his cooperation ring right right so find out what's in the nation knows he's free on his own recognizance again that's a sign that the fed's been happy with his cooperation to date the feds did not fight that you know he's got it all up he could face a dozen years in prison but he can shave a lot of that off by the depth and breadth and enthusiasm of his cooperation where does the two hundred fifty thousand dollars that the bribery money go does he have to give it back where does it go that's a good question there's usually a forfeiture phases after sentencing during sensing of any trial I I don't know what it's alleged that two hundred fifty thousand in bribe money you know I don't know if it was you know I was in I don't get that way I don't gambling it's already gone sorry said on I can't find it don't look in the freezer but look at the casino in Indiana just don't do that yeah so these guys just hold on to the cash and keep it at their house we don't know where the cat so you're trying to get me days trying to get me I must say is a mess it is a mess it is such a joke I've said it before and I'll say it again none of this meeting the way in which politics are approach in this state how it's done how people get on the ballot how districts get formed how campaigns soldiers are for our our foot soldiers are financed now they jump on and off the government pay rolls none of this is new there've been a lot of reporters for many years yep posing that yep at some point the voters get what they choose and that includes those people who don't vote always great to talk about thank you but if you watch it tonight Ben Bradlee tonight on WGN He's GonNa Faint Do you think that has to do with the final rose. I have no idea but you deal I. I don't see again. We've learned that Pete has a hard time saying no to people May. "Let's let's discuss a champagne gate twenty twenty so it all started when Kelsey whose stunning so pretty pretty she. Yeah she she I think she's the prettiest girl in the house. Yeah do you vote opinion. Who Do you think is pretty girl? Now's us that Kelsey tells us very pretty Hananel. Yeah that's what this really beautiful natural viewer. Yeah so Kelsey has been reserving. There's a very special bottle of champagne that she got for her birthday last year for special occasions does she brought it all the way from Iowa to have to share with Peter. Yeah well so she sets it all up. Candles glasses all in a basket very cute by the fireplace at the pre rose ceremony cocktail party. But then of course Han walks by arm-in-arm with Peter on the end says let's sit down and let's have. Let's let's pain but it seems like there are magical forces behind this sort of Quincy Hannah on the one to beat initially given that she won the first impression rose there seem to be some strange forces at work together magical funds Juan so much better than I could have said it. I don't know it's there are strange forces at work here. I think you'd have to agree. I really agree. It's handling data and was definitely Public enemy number one from the other contestant esten standpoint so I I think she may have been prompted by somebody to have interrupted that whole champagne thing yeah so what happened during my season the Bachelorette with Luc de Everyone one was out to get him. Yeah my theory is that some magical force was like. There's a bottle of champagne waiting for you guys. You should pop it. It's that way I go find it that way. So she's like okay so she strode along in the first bottle of champagne bottle of champagne cheese right by the fireplace Lo and behold. There was another bottle of champagne sitting in the little like You know the Little Pool area and that was the first one she says she was like. Okay I'll stop. Stop here yeah yeah beforehand. She has no idea. These champagne bottles are coming from every direction. How she supposed to know that one of them is special? You know I think I don't. I know there seems to be a curse on the first impression. Whoever gets it seems to be public enemy number one of the whole house standpoint? I don't know I think I think Hannah deservingly a public enemy number one but in this situation I wish Kelsey would have seen some special forces at work. It was. This is definitely not a hand and thing thing and while I don't think that she's very defendable. I'm definitely defending her in this situation. How's the poor girl supposed to break? I mean Lord knows what's GonNa what happened the next episode. I'm sure something will happen. A hand and that will cause controversy. It's always the first impression rose winners that are under the gun. He definitely didn't do it with with malice she may not she just didn't know to ignorant towards WHO's bottle it is I can see Kelsey getting upset. I think Kelsey and I'm the last person to ever be able to say this and perhaps John you are the person that can ever say this but she was a little bit dramatic. Oh sure without a doubt. I mean you're under a lot of of pressure. I mean there are cameras on you the entire time and you have no idea what the outcome of the scene will be and so she I think she probably just got caught up in the moment he definitely we do. She called Hannah and not the not the greatest things but but Hannah and later in the episode calls it bullying and in my point of view. Home it definitely wasn't bullying and this is one of the many times on this show we've had to discuss just the term bullying and what it means my believe that bullying is completely different than confronting someone from not liking. Someone course that's like. I don't even think nobody said that you were bullying Derek. When you had the confrontation a fight you had a fight? Yeah Yeah Yeah it was definitely a confrontation for sure. So by by definition in the dictionary bullying means to seek harm into intimidate to threaten to abuse. And I see it compl- I don't interpret what went down between Kelsey and Hannah an as bullying and I think that Hannah an was obviously intentionally trying to mean girl out Kelsey. I'm sorry you think that she was trying to be girl. Oh No Hannah was trying to mean girl Kelsey. When she brought out the situation appearing called it bullying said that she was up all night crying? I'm like now now than you were not affected girl. No absolutely not. Not only were you like not. I don't think it was an emotional burden on you but I. I think that you are confident enough. And where you are with Peter that you would have slept so soundly that night. She doesn't like me whatever. Yeah yeah definitely and I now. Peter of course is at the end of the episode conflicted on what to do because Hannah Anna's telling him that Kelsey bullied and then Kelsey is saying that's not how it went down at all we different. I may have said some mean things but it wasn't bullying what do you I think. Peter Does this knowing what we've seen from Peter and I think probably hear both sides out. I mean if it was me me I probably would just dismiss the whole thing and make them hash it out themselves. It's not something that I I think. He really wants to deal with by. He'll probably hear him out and he'll be able to you. You know. Get an idea for. WHO's the one complaining you know who's WHO's really WHO's innocent. WHO's truthful? I think he has to start talking Taylor girls about about their feelings about messy and you take away time from getting to know other people I think I think Peter should make them hash amongst themselves. There's always some sort of drama like this and it seems like the male lead can never figure out which girl is the conniving manipulative. Yeah because it's impossible. I know it's impossible. Look You as the bachelor. I think you have to be the judge of character. You can't allow anybody else to sort of speak for themselves. You just kind kind of have to let your relationships with other girls Sort of find themselves. Yeah I think Peter should just Ah stay away from questioning all the other girls that just never it just never turns out. Well well then I just hope to see Kelsey get some more more time with him so that she can prove that she's you know that she's a cool chick in this girl. WHO's a bully? Sure because she's not a bully right. In my opinion I agree. Okay what do you feel about do feel do you have any feelings towards McKenna. Because I didn't think I had feelings towards McKenna before this episode but I do and I find her annoying and and I don't like the way that her friendship in Japan an looks and she used a lot of bachelor speak Do I have a reason as to why I find her annoying. I think it's because of the Bachelor speak. I think it's because she he says things like like I'm really excited about like our growth on this journey. You know. I don't like it when girls like say all these weird things that they think there's supposed to say because they're on the bachelor right right totally agree. Why are you doing that McKenna? Don't do that all right. We have to talk about Victoria. F Edfu we get back and of course interview JP.

"And today I am not joined by Mr Ben Higgins but I am here with one of the summer's biggest reality stars. John Paul Jones balance is and it's his first time on the most famous podcast super excited. Thank you for having me Ashleigh. He's here looking just like a Disney prints friends the way that we've always imagined him to look. Have you gotten that before here and there because like you literally look like a cartoon you're like James Marsden and enchanted taste like pops out of the car and he's a real human. That's so funny here and there some you bachelor People Tend to bring that up. I think it's funny funny. It's awesome. I mean who doesn't WanNa look like a Disney print. Let's talk about the first time we met you just kind of ran. I like just so much. In the bottom towards jared who at the time was that was my fiance. We were at crystal and courses wedding in paradise. And you didn't care about anyone else there except for Jarrett and tell me why that was. Yeah sure so. I'm not really familiar. I don't consider myself a bachelor person. I'd never really frequently watched the show. But Jared has one of the very few people do remember from Kaitlyn Bristowe is my sister's. Watch it incessantly. During the summer and for whatever reason I just remembered his face because he kind of looks like Tom I'm crews hasn't he probably has a sharper JAL on Tom Cruise. These huge like rear cheekbones. I just he's just a memorable guy and he's one of the few people I remembered from the show and I was just excited to see him. I think he took if I remember properly. I think he took it pretty hard loss on on the Kaitlyn Bristowe season. I just remember he was top for he definitely. Has You know sentimental goodbye for whatever reason that's the only thing I remember from that season I can tell you who else was on season. But I remember jared that is so sweet and you don't even know how much you made his day year by calling saying he you know he may I remember after the first episode of the Bachelorette he deemed me and I was totally blood. Yeah I think it was the first episode and you know I didn't really get that much attention after that but jared the to me and told me like. Hey you're Ashley lives favorite would have really. I was really flattered by it. He he's he's is a he's a good guy. I'd keep them around for life commitment life. I'm glad to say that. Oh congratulations formally address. Thank you but You just Tom. Cruise is one of his top. Three man crushes. I think Tom Cruise is sort of the epitome of like man status like every guy growing up wants to be Tom Cruise. And your significant other happens to look and it's really funny. Because he sounds down so much like him especially when he gets passionate if he's like really ranting about something. It's like Jerry Maguire and I love it. That's awesome awesome okay. So did you watch the episode last night I did. I'm familiar with some of the key highlights from IT I. I don't think people to keep up with all the names but that's fine. I think I'm looking through my notes right now and I'm thinking there's really only like four names that you really need to know how. `Bout Mattie how do you feel that Mattie because I want to start with a little gossip going on on in the world about Mattie. Please give me so on the one on last week. Oh Yeah Yeah you know. I really liked her. She was really reserved. You know during during the whole wedding bell exchange and What was it Yeah she was. She didn't draw any unnecessary attention to yourself. You kind of respected. The whole process of no kidding did know pizza family without being too overbearing. You know kind of giving off that vibe that look at me. I'm on this reality. TV show whatever. She didn't really try too hard. There was a really nice. It's sort of a natural charisma about her. Yeah I think everybody left with like a great taste in their mouth last week. Can I ask you a question. The girl who walked up to Pete put a blindfold on him immediately started making out with him. Yeah what do you think would have happened if somebody from my season did that to go to. I know it's such a risky move but I duNno. I thought it was really cold. I don't I think Pete's such a nice guy I think he may. He may be a little submissive in that respect. I don't think he's GonNa you know Turner Girl Down from kissing him. But I don't know I thought maybe there could be a little bit the the little bit of a double standard there usually double standards when it comes to. Oh I know I know I was just really thrown back by that because I don't think anybody on my this season could have gotten them. Maybe Tyler camera could have gotten away with doing with Hannah Brown. But I. That was a risky move about admired it. And just kind of made me ponder you know. The guy did that to a girl I know I know that was a risk. Anyway anyway you have to admire in question at the same time it was interesting. You Know Peter you spent weeks with him on the show. Tell us a little bit about him that you don't think that we would now. I think pizza very established in his career careers. A pilot. He's twenty eight years old and I think he's been single for awhile so I think this is a really a an appropriate time in his life to find someone that he really cares about. He's very passionate about flying. And you know I think You know he's really ready to find someone to share his life with. I agree with you. It's nice to see somebody who is so passionate worry about their career. Become a bachelor and you know that he's going to go right back to it. Yeah Yeah I mean look at his instagram stories. you know he's posting videos of himself in the cockpit. Yeah when I'm when he's not flying commercially you know I. I don't know what his you know family situations like that. Oh Yeah he's clearly flying these cool little like propeller plans and I mean you can tell the guy's really passionate about what he does. It's really cool to see and I think he's ready to share That passion with someone. He's very passionate the way that he kisses a girl unless yes surprisingly because he looks so I know I know. He comes off as kind of submissive but You know he he he definitely takes the reins when it comes to romance Totally and yeah. We totally talked P. S. last weekend he was saying that you know on an off day. He'll just go fly. Hi for. That's the coolest thing in the world. I mean that's bad ass. I mean who can do that. People that are incredibly established in their career and they have so much money. They don't know what to do with. Maybe they'll go for a joy ride Frank Sinatra talks about a lot of come fly with so that's what that's what he did right. Yes I like any. They don't have the right to that song. But did I know I know. But the point being Pete Pizza Cool Guy if he can just kind of go for a leisurely flight light whenever he wants. I mean it's pretty hard to compete with. I agree so let's get back to Matt now who want us all over last week but then there was some awkwardness miss. That happened on Thursday. This fan accounts. Yes so bachelor's Luther. This is an instagram account. They did some detective work over the past week. And this past Thursday Peru at Mattie Peru on instagram commented under at Mattie Peru's photo saying beautiful beautiful date Mattie. You are so genuine and real now on instagram. You can have multiple accounts and then switching between them log out of the APP and then log back in. You can just like the go-to your other account back and forth so like we do it with our dog. Hello did it like that. We're just treasures lying around okay so it seems as if you know. Whoever wrote put this comment under matty's instagram? Meant you know meant it to not come from matty's attack it would be kind of weird to write a compliment to yourself on your own. Yeah I guess so that is. That's definitely a little suspicious. The Not really here to condemn anyone I mean and there's no proof right we One of these things have to weigh it out and see what does this fan account onto posting in the future. That's true does this fan account or we don't even know if we don't even know that there is a compelling account. That's the speculation part. Okay Gotcha the speculates. It's very hard to describe guys but the speculation is that manny on. Her phone would have multiple accounts attached to her instagram and then she was on her regular personal on count and made the comment thinking on account definitely could have happened. Yeah Yeah I can definitely protested that to an agree. I think there was some John. Paul Jones Fan page out. I think but I think somebody could easily accused me for the same thing. Now I can guarantee you. I don't spend my time creating an account for myself commenting on my own photos. I mean I just don't really see how that could gain any sort of traction look I. I don't know I wish you the best Mattie look if you if you did it. I'm sorry. Looks a little bit conceded to the public. A little concede concede. It looks a little bit like Oh man. You're going to say that about yourself. It's less honestly. I think it's a less of her. Having offend account that she's running and more so W- what the comments that but at the same time there are much worse things you could do. There are a hell of a lot worse things out there so the grand scheme of things I I think you'll look at this and laugh Down the road I don't know but also in the US and the grand scheme of things this is going to be forgotten after this conversation on the podcast. More thing to add about it so it doesn't just end at that. It seems as if a friend appears appears to take credit for the instagram mistake in their their instagram handle is underscore a a underscore is underscored de underscore. Three three or four wrote. oops thought I wrote that comment about being real up. Yes he did okay from my accounts to mad cow when she got back from filming. Don't hate me at Mattie prue that it is awfully specific in very. Yeah I know someone is clearly trying to bail her out. Whatever I don't know Mattie you're not we're not charging charging you for any crimes but it is a little overwhelming Mattie then responded to a friend saying Ha? You're good it happens love I love you. Definitely all their okay. There's no actual proof of this but that is certainly what it looks I can. Yeah yeah sorry Mattie I have no bone to pick with you but in this instance it does look like you had you created a fan account. Oh well there they're worse things you could certainly are. How did you think of Mattia? And Peter's chemistry last night because last night he he gave her a photo from the nuptial renewal of the family. It was her in his family framed. Wow I know as a statement Amen. She clearly as a you know a great attention to detail and I think she just purports the fact that she's really serious about this whole endeavor Um and I was really impressed with her because again she was very humble and you know kept to herself and was not drawing unnecessary attention. That wedding so seems it's like a really cool girl you're saying she didn't. She did draw attention during a pain. Right you've learned a lesson Yeah we can talk about that later. Sure the no she was she seems like a cool girl. All right well we have. We don't have much more bachelor news that I think is like really important to talk about so I do want to jump into the episode. Let's start with Hannah. That's what we left off and lasts. That was it. It was the best part of last week's episode and this week we begin with the conversation continuing but less words this time. I am more hugging. Yup Yup Yup Yup. Yeah yeah that was interesting Hand is a great girl. She so charismatic and she's so much fun to around though your thoughts about her trying to get her back being that you know them both way better than I do our battle with the question. What do you think about a girl a girl who chose? There's two other men over him.

The time America invaded Britain

"Was seventeen seventy eight an American ship called the ranger was headed to France. The ranger had two missions I to deliver news of the British surrender at Saratoga. The Americans hoped the victory would persuade King Louis the sixteenth to lend troops to Americans fighting the revolutionary war the second goal cause problems for the British John Paul Jones was the rangers captain tune on his voyage. The ranger sunk brig loaded with flaxseed a schooner filled with barley and oats in a merchant's loop filled with beer but Jones was a fiery ambitious captain. He wanted more than just to sink ships so as he sailed through the Irish Sea he hatched a plan to bring the American revolution to Britain chores specifically to the shores of a town called whitehaven where he'd begun his naval career in the name of the United States Navy Jones decided. He didn't made his home town. That idea of course was met with resistance from his top lieutenants. Jones spent a day on board the ranger trying to convince his men to carry out the rate. Finally thirty men agreed in the wee hours of the morning Jones in his crew paddled the two miles to shore and took a nearby British fort without incident Hay success. Yes another crew launched in a second vote. Their job was to set fire to the ships in the harbor into the town. They veered a bit off course instead of setting fire to the ships as planned the men invaded a tavern and got drunk one crewmen the scape and ran through the village to alert the fire brigade of the coming destruction when the people of Whitehaven woke up and gathered at the docks only one ship hip was on fire Jones posted guards at the end of the dock and threw flaming pinecone into the ship's cargo hold he later wrote that the cargo hold was filled filled with coal and if it caught fire it would've spread well it didn't so his crew piled into a Guinea breath and paddled in the morning daylight back to the ranger taking cannon fire from townspeople while they retreated the ship fire. Meanwhile was easily extinguished. The plot was such a failure but Jones only narrowly avoided a mutiny from his crew but it may be Jones got the last laugh. His operation wasn't a success but it ravaged public opinion of the war in Britain Britain British generals had assured parliament the mainland was safe and humorous some Pesky American landing right on their shores according to revolutionary war or historian Tim McGrath the British papers were furious and as for Jones himself. His legacy has survived through history. You may not remember his his name or his infamous raid but you've probably heard the word. She cried soon. After during a naval battle off the Yorkshire Coast when asked if he wished surrender Jones declared I have not yet begun to fight. That battle ended in victory.

"Announcing the imminent appearance of Jimmy Page's new band in Boston, the sound they described as contemporary blues, quote, raw and basic something everyone can relate to. And so the newly christened Led Zeppelin was coming to America. According to John Paul Jones, that January, sixty nine date at the Boston tea party as it was known was a moment of realization for the band Jones E told enemy in an interview years later as far as I'm concerned, the keys upland gig. The one that put everything into focus was one that we played on our first American tour at the Boston tea party, we played our usual, one hour, set using all the material for the first album and pages white summer guitar piece that instrumental he did with the Yardbirds by the end the audience, just wouldn't let us off stage. It was in such a state that in the band, we had to start throwing ideas around just thinking of songs that we might all know that some of this new part of and work it out from there. So we go back on. Play things like I saw her standing there and please, please me. We'll Beatles favorites. I mean, just anything that would come into our heads, and the response was amazing. There were kids actually bashing their heads against the states. I've never seen that at a gig before or since. And when we finally left the stage we'd played for four plus our. Wow. Wow. What the kicker Steven Tyler of Aerosmith was at this show, and he said that he cried during dazed and confused because he couldn't believe how heavy it was. The also said it was one of the only two shows he's ever attended. We sat with his mouth opening opening entire time a very young Steven Tyler. You've seen his mouth. Wow. That's a great story..

"Minnesota six to one eighty three RJ Barrett. Number five six seven zero to a freshman from Mississauga Ontario, Canada Marquis, Baltimore number twenty six eleven to fifty junior from Texas and rounding out the starting five Cam reddish. Whereas number two, six eight to eighteen to freshman from Norristown, Pennsylvania. Well, radishes the guy we highlighted because obviously everybody knows about you know, the two starts on this team, Barron. Williamson but renaissance has been a little bit up and down. And there are times of the game where he really needs to step up and the fans have gotten frustrated where is he why is he playing to his strengths his strengths are? He's the best three point shooter on a team that needs three point shooting that could be a big storyline. Head coach for the blue devils in his thirty ninth year. Mike ski assisted by Nate James, John Shire, and. For the Virginia. Cavaliers tied you wrong. He will start tonight that back in all six five one ninety five junior from new Rochelle New York hundred whereas number twelve six seven to twenty five the redshirt sophomore from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Monitor the Akita. He'll we're number twenty five six nine to twenty eight the redshirt junior from Guinea Africa, Jack salt, the big guy in the middle number thirty three six ten fifty redshirt senior from Auckland New Zealand and rounding out the starting five pile guy. He wears number five six to one seventy five Indianapolis, Indiana. I just find it hard to believe Virginia wins without winning the battle behind the three point line. And this guy is among the best ever to do that for this team. He's the first all time at Virginia in three point percentage. Forty two percent eleven times Bill eleven times. He's at games with five or more threes. Sure, they'll give up five today. So to make a few because they did everything right at Duke accepts you for free. And it wasn't enough. They're going gonna have to make some threes tonight. Head coach to the Cavaliers in his tenth year. Tony Bennett assisted by Jason Wilford. Brad Soderberg an Orlando Vandross the officials for tonight's game Ron Gruber ten Valentine and Doug servants, Bob and electric atmosphere. And we've got some celebrities in the house. Ralph Sampson came over shook your hand Grant Hill and his dad or in the house, Mike robot here from ESPN. Everybody's here tonight. Why wouldn't you be? Driving distances place, you'd wanna be here. There's you know that that is the thing that you heard me talk to Tony about that in the pre game. They're not gonna give a trophy out tonight. Right. So you gotta keep your guys focus. They got to come back and Virginia's case play North Carolina. But hey, you know, what if you're a coach wants you guys we fired up about this. This is why you do all the work and lift the weights and do the running and watch the film games like this. And this place is absolutely off the rails. How big was having a week off for the Cavaliers they got North Carolina on Monday. Tony Bennett said, hey, that's Monday. We gotta take at one possession at a time tonight with the injury to Giral having seven days to prep for two big games had to help. Well, I hope for your own sake. It is because anybody's had back problems knows it is agonizing just as you all know just can't fathom playing against the Duke team and he had a sprained Bank back and I see guy smiling and salt smiling drums, gotta look determination. I hope it's just determination already fighting some of the back pain. We'll find out as an unfolds. Here's the tip. Doug sermons throughout the basketball controlled by Duke in the blue levels, the first possession moving left to right as we call the action dark black uniforms with they call. The Duke blue numerals and trim the Cavaliers in the home white orange numerals, orange and navy blue trim get it outside Barrett. Dow Jones Jones back 'but long three to start and it's good at RJ Barrett connects from long range for just a thirty one percent three point shooter. But if you make stack shot, there are a lot harder to defend. See how Jerome hand is. It's sprained back that sat out the last game against Miami guy, a little runner in the land from the foul line. No good Williamson at the rebound for the blue devils. Bring it down to four left to right. It off your spirit driving the lane against hunter hundred block the stock puts another shot up. No good. Wall. Had it's controlled by hunter. Boy, what a defensive action five de'andre hunter. Every block the shot twice. Basically. I ain't got the rebound and gets it over to Kyle guy. Virginia moving right to left and the right corner. Drives the right baseline on Jones turns passes away saved by Jerome shot clock, the ten Jerome bring it back to the middle of the floor left to right fans. Counting down the shot clock for the home team. Toronto law high run around the rim. No, good points in a second rebound outlet offensive boards for three nothing early. Duke a minute and a half into our basketball game Williamson along the right baseline lofted dribble. And it's controlled by the Cavaliers. Jerome bring it across the timelines who the Andrei hunter who was the ACC the man of the year a year ago. But now big time player in his starting offense. Tony. They had the ball knocked. Here's a steel by Williamson lookout by himself slams at home. Hands that it's five to nothing Duke, very few things in life. Tony Bennett hates more than live while turnovers. And there's a reason why there's no pack line defense for that. Jerome. Guarded by Jones off the Powell Daniel upside. Guy had the ball taken away. Here comes another steel by Duke, this camera guy on him knocked the ball away. Nice defensive play the right now. Bob Virginia looks a little tentative not getting good shots. And they turn the ball over the last few times down the floor. A weird thing they missed their first two shots. Driving shots by guy and Jerome, and as you said now, they're getting pushed further out. Really making the react Barrett on the inbounds along varies at RJ parrot to threes. In the early going. And as Bob said, he's a thirty one percent three point shooter. Duke is a team is thirty percent. Elite six tonight. They're not there. Eight nothing our store Jerome kicks it over on the right wing almost turned it over hundred save the right corner to keep day at the right L fall away. Jumper hierarchy and Virginia. But as I point to the game becomes over two minutes to this contest that it's eight to to do a little bit of found my idea as just a seven forty game scorer. But he's been their defensive stalwart around the basket. Jones near right side to rutta slobs at the Williamson along the right corner. Let us play catch with the ball. Now. It's Williamson trying to drive by the Akita cuts him off on the baseline back outside the barracks. Eight on the shot clock at seven in the left corner. Here's Jones a little rudder along the line around the rim. No good for the loose ball. And it's controlled by dukes tipped out of bounds. Last touch by. I think it actually bad luck for Duke it landed golden it just happened to be laying on the baseline. It was just bad luck for Duke the ball's knocked around like a pinball, and he had fallen down was laying on the line. And so it goes over Jimmy Knapp can capitalize to Duke on top Virginia sixteen and a half minutes remaining here in the first half John Paul Jones arena sellout hottest ticket in the ACC this weekend. Salt here left side. We got a whistle. Bolden will pick up. Our first foul of the game are folded. Vertical? I said it backwards the vertical principality the principal verticality rule there which Doug sermons explained you got allow the offensive player to be able to straighten up. He did Falvo still defending. Inbounded to Giral Jerome guarded closely by trade Jones off the Kyle guy out of salt. Top of the are upside your own dribbles. Write little stories double teamed over the guy on the right wing on the shot clock. Guile long arching three that's an air ball salts by Bolden block and control by the Duke blue devils. Four minutes in Duke, eight Virginia to here in Charlottesville sign Williamson in the near right cornerback outside the trae Jones. They'll slow it up. Jerome on Jones for Virginia. You're right side to reddish in the right corner. Now. Driving back to rutta. Shout caught working at around the three point now Williamson with five four dot clockwork his way in the lab. Good. Virginia. Protective idea Keith. Defense has been good Virginia. They need to find out a way to score as got eleven blocked shots in the last three games. Just got another one there. Buttering her left side. Upfront to the Akita lobs it inside the soft goes up off the glass in store. Like that they are going to attack so hard on the perimeter for the good for him it or flyers in guy and the Jerome then you gotta look elsewhere, Deke, and certainly guys can assault rather capable score their Williams soon will hoist up along three and it's good and a team. That's not very good from the three point arc. Can't miss. Williamson has five Barrett. Six and those of the eleven points that Duke has eleven four. The ball moving right to left putter to salt baseline out front the day wide open three. He's got. Quickly back down the floor comfortably ahead eleven to seven radish hoist up along three three by Cam reddish. Due kit. In this game. They we fourteen to seven I'm fairly certain heated media Bank. Deliberately banked in threes. Small hands off to the Andrei hundred the acute front. Give it back to Jerome. Now. The salt salt lobs inside the key almost lost the dribble puts it back up. Lays it in his back underneath the basket. You could see how they are not allowing threes, you're going to be able to score around the basket. But I think Duke thinks they can't beat them unless they're making threes. They won't give them good. Looks. RJ Barrett has nine point three threes and Duke is up seventeen to nine with thirteen fifty to go in the first half thirty percent three point shooting team has made fine in a row behind the arc. My goodness. Five of five shooting. The three. Here's Kyle guys. Sat rejected by Williamson control by Bolden ballots off doubt, Laura Barrett to Cam reddish off the glass in all the fast break bucket by two. Yeah. That has silenced the crowd here. John Paul Jones arena. We've got a time out thirteen thirty one to go in the first half. And it's the blue devils by ten Duke nineteen Virginia nine this is college basketball on ESPN radio and the ESPN app presented by Dr. Welcome back to sports you next topic. Is.
