"And it's not another pun. Yes. You had a guest on who after being introduced to the Hall of Fame. As he stood with other Hall of Famers. And comparing who is the best and the gentleman said to him, once you get in here, we're all equal. That's right. I remember who made that quote to you. I don't remember that. Who was that? No. Can you remember the question? I don't remember who actually said it, but you're not wrong. That's an interesting one. Thanks, mat appreciate the call. Yeah, it was like what ballot. The first ballot, third ballot, 6. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. I know Deion. I know exactly what he's talking about. I know Deon said it's something along the lines of like they should have a different jacket color. That jacket color because there's a certain status of a Hall of Famer. He's just upset that. His guy isn't getting in. You know, why am I blanking on the kid's name? No. We ran back all the touchdowns. I need more sleep. I think he's just a little upset that Devin's not getting it. I think Devin will get his time. That's a funny statement that Rogers is kind of like a groundhog. Well done. Yeah. Let's go to canon Kokomo, Indiana, which can go very phone call. Hey, rich, it's good to talk to you again. You got it. I just want to point out a couple of things that probably the legal office isn't going to say. I can tell you a little something about John Jenkins. It's 8 year in the league. First Super Bowl. And I think he deserves a little bit of love for having the guts to throw the flag at all. You're referring to the official through the defensive hold. Exactly, he's a field judge on the crew. The league is going to back this play. I mean, a 1 million % the league's going to back to play because it is a hold. I mean, it's the right call when you see that tug, it's the right call. The question is do you call it then? When I'm sure he might say that's the only tug of the Jersey I saw all day, and so he threw it. It does take guts to call it. That's for damn sure. Warner, just now added a little bit of credence there from the standpoint of the quarterback and how just a little tug can make all the difference to a quarterback. Yeah, and we had Chris long on yesterday as well describe it, as well as Pereira that a defender can use the tug to slingshot himself back into the play. As opposed to being completely beaten. I just wanted to put a little bit of love to John Jenkins for having the gut because if I may, one quickly. Sure. Tell me though. The name? Go for it. Referee. Until 1976. When he was this when he was a crew chief, it sounds really cheesy, really corny. But there was a chance that the crew had together in the locker room before they went out onto the field. It goes hats, flags, whistles, guts. You can't work a game without any of them. Actually the call can't appreciate it. I sought, called it. Wish he had. What else can I say? Yeah. You know, another thing I say on right put this in your direction because they might not get the reference. Anytime I hear crew chief, I think of winky dinky doll. Wicked. Dink it. He went from assistant crew chief to crew chief. I keep thinking of Hollywood shows. That's funny. You ever see Hollywood shopping. With Robert Townsend on, you hear the two of us keep giving references over and over again. There's a bat in my house. The second half of my cheering candidate in my neighborhood. Every single time I hear crew chief. No matter what. There's a bat in my house. Just bragging about going from assistant crew chief to crew chief.

"Also Monk Malloy, who was the president at the time. I think probably what I took out more than anything. There were so many moments there. But this idea of Higher education and sport and the marriage that it can have and you don't have. You don't have to lessen the importance of one to have success in the other that these were Areas that could coexist that could be tethered together and that you could provide opportunities for young people through access of higher education and to make it affordable. That some of these young men and women would never have had a chance. To go to school. Just like your experience in Iowa City, right and and and for for coach Fry. Who knows where you would have been been without the sport, exactly Sport of football and where that foundation Has led you in your life, both academically in your career and spiritually and all the rest of it and I think sometimes people don't understand the importance of the significance of what happens in a collegiate athletics program. I agree. 100%. I've had that thought so many times recently, Jim, as we all think about the N I l the fact that these kids can can earn some money on the side now. I've raised my hand and said, You know what? The experience what's going to make it great or poor and pay off down. The road has nothing to do with any dollars they're going to make. Now It's the relationships and the things they learn that will pay off down the road. So I'm glad you brought that up. Before I got in broadcasting. I wanted to be an athletic director. So this is a very much of interest to me. I could keep you here all day. I know you have because we just talked about all the things you're doing on the field in the press box. I know you have other places to go. So, Jim, thank you very much for spending time with us. Good to get to know you a bit and interesting to listen to all that's going on. I'm honored to be here and I will say this to You have to exceptional leaders at at Notre Dame Father John Jenkins, who I absolutely adore and Jack Swarbrick who think it is good athletic directors as there is in the country, so not in athletics. "And that's just frustrated and then he started getting mad at the players that are playing. You start getting mad at the players. That are playing. Where the hell lebron. Why is he not steph curry and lebron like. He's come help us. It's great for them. They're sitting at home. Okay great hate to see it interesting by the way shutouts. Our guide dakota matthias. It was on the bench. He didn't get in neither jalil okafor. So congrats dakota. I saw head when they cut the bench. Maybe that's what they need. Maybe shake it up. Throw john jenkins and the game throw matthias and the game. These guys yeah. I was a little confused. Also because i've been watching the practice tapes and tyler hero is is with the selecting. They brought into play against the first team. So i thought tyler hero would be on the bench and i feel like he actually may have been good. You know what. I mean. Because i think tyler hero came into the game started making threes. He would have pissed off the other guys like there's no way you're gonna lit a fire under them and they were going. Yeah i mean it sounds. It sounds absolutely preposterous. I understand what. I'm gonna say sound postures but you should have to earn your way under the team. You really should. That's how it works and international soccer Give a damn how good a guy is how what his contract is at. Ps gee how much they're exactly. We don't care if you don't fit into our team drought like we don't. We're not gonna play you. We want we want you to care about being here and we want to be good and got there dude watching you say. Lose it ijiri. I've never felt like older my life. Because i was just yelling at the tv. Like everything i feel like. I'm thirty years too young watching sports seriously. I mean gave. Vincent hit six threes in this game by the way mean six of eight. I mean he was great. If you remind me he fan this was a great night for you and that was the other part of this thing. You know what i mean like. An american team was was celebrating. A nigerian team beating team. Usa that that's why it's all convoluted and that's why i think you know the long term plan of. Let's just run. These guys. In and have brad stevens coach. A bunch of eighteen to twenty two year olds. That aren't already on the team in the nba. Maybe we have more fun than how do we feel. How do we feel about mike brown. Coaching nigeria and ricky coaching greece and cal. Remember coach the dominican republic. Carl tiles kicked charlie villanueva. And it'd be off the team to put a fifteen year old so good. i what. I was watching. Europe was thinking about this euro euro. What do we call it. I guess i never think about your euro era final because the euro final. The who cares soccer fans football. And you'll be fine. You're the coach of belgium roberto martinez i think he's he's not. He's not belgian. And as i was watching that the thought came into my brain of lake and of course a clinton is german. He coached soccer team. And i started thinking. I was like is this. It does it. Does this make sense to should we. Should we have this. Should we have guys from not that country code like if the whole idea is like. We're playing for the love of this country the loyalty to this country. Our beloved turns out. Were not does that. Take a little sting away. The like does mike ties in nigeria. I don't i. Don't i really does. Okay we'll be. Does that makes more sense. I mean i don't think obviously he's a grew up in america and his american. I don't mean to be 'gate-keeping saying like the guy is not nigerian enough to be. That's not what. I mean in general because i noticed that happened at soccer. A ton where it's just like the coaches are mercenaries and you just like you just get a german due to come to america. Pretend like he cares. Although clinton bad example. I guess he's been a lot of time in america but you understand what i'm saying. You understand this well and i. I don't know i was. Just i like bob bradley. I remember coached egypt at soccer coach egyptian national team. And i remember thinking like there's no way bob bradley cares about egypt. There's no way. But i know i was thinking about that with mike brown. A but maybe he's i don't know i mean this is i think this is the year of lebron's former coaches letting everyone know that they actually were good coaches you know. Tai lue was the best coach in my opinion in the entire playoffs. The adjustments that he made the way he was able to get that clippers team to galvanize around each other and healthy. Who knows where we are. They could be in the nba finals right now. And then. Mike brown right elegant guy. That's been laughed at made fun of you know. I think my least favorite thing that happens you know on the internet is when people bring up the lebron james two thousand seven like he.

"If you're just joining us first off where the hell you been second. All we talked a lot about. Nfl football we talked about fancy football in. Rankings we also talked about the aaron rodgers saga we talked about how the culpable landscape is changing for the good and what took so long for college football to finally be able to get their heads out of the sand and actually make some important changes within the landscape. We talked about the rogers saga and we talked about shots fired and how. Nfl talent are shooting their shots and keeping it a hundred in the league they always it one hundred but now we've got a lot to talk about in this last segment of the show. There's a lot to talk about when it comes to the nfl and when it comes to mandatory minicamp happening and it's just about maybe a day away and i'm super excited to see mandatory minicamp. An who shows and who's no showing because there's a lot of superstar talent who are no shows for many camp prime example aaron rodgers. He's not going to be a no show. Excuse me he's gonna be a no show for mandatory minicamp and he always does this. Because i think that. Nfl talent. if you're a superstar you don't need to show up for many camp because not only. Is it going to possibly hurt your career by an injury but it could also hurt your pockets. And there's another superstar who is a no show for many camp mandatory minicamp for those who don't know patriots cornerback. Stefan gilmore a holdout is not present for mandatory minicamp at the new england patriots. Many camp this season and it's going to be an interesting story because he's in his last year of his deal and i've been hearing rumblings. That gilmore wants out of new england just the way he was treated by bill belichick and he's one of the many people just like tom. Brady just like rob gronkowski. Who wants out of new england now. New england is a very interesting place because not only did they. Just acquire a bunch of free agent talent during the offseason like kendrick bourne like johnny smoo- they have cam newton there. The addition of mack jones is really interesting to me but it seems like the. Nfl is so different from team to team. But it seems like new. England patriots are just the weirdest team when it comes to the way they treat their players because they expect high intensity and they expect a lot out of their players and it can be draining at sometimes and i can understand in a regular minicamp and a regular mandatory minicamp. Not a lot of people are gonna wanna try and show up basically for many factors but when it comes to new england patriots many cans. It seemed like there's a different vibe. It seemed like bill. Belichick hold his team to a higher standard. And we've seen that throughout previous players like we've seen chandler jones go from new england and go to arizona basically because he wasn't good enough type of player that he wanted that bill bell check wanted. And you know when you go to new england. You're held to a certain standard. Look at randy. Moss randy moss. He was a superstar and minnesota. And he went to the raiders. He didn't want to practice. he didn't wanna practice. He didn't wanna play practice days. He only wanted to do was play on sundays. And he got down to new england and his whole attitude changed like his whole attitude. Change because bill belichick held him to a certain standard. And he said. If you're not gonna practice you're not gonna play up here. In new england. We are held to a different standard and it worked it worked but it's interesting to see all these superstars kind of changing their minds about many camp especially mandatory minicamp so stefan gilmore. He's not gonna want to go to many camp. And i understand that and understand anybody else like aaron rodgers not showing up too many camp because it's not beneficial for the players to get injured during mandatory minimums. We've seen injuries all over especially when it comes to teams losing guys. Who are superstar talent guys. Who are second-string guys to aco torah mcnichols. When you're not even hitting on the field when you doing one on one hundred. We've seen in san francisco. We've seen three people already have torn meniscus and cl's with non contact injuries at mini camp. We saw the san francisco. Forty niners shutdown a week of minicamp basically to prevent injuries now. I commend them for shutting minicamp down. I commend cow. Chan hin for shutting down but honestly is it really worth it to have mandatory minicamps. Just ask yourself. That question is mandatory. Minicamps really worth it. It might not be in my opinion. I don't think it is because we see a bunch of players holding out now we've seen on the other side of the spectrum. Minicamp is helping the rookies. It's helping the team. Get their camaraderie together to get that juice flowing to gel together to come together as one. I understand that teams need time to gel and teams need time to be cohesive and become one but does it really have to be mandatory. Doesn't make sense to me. It doesn't make sense to have people who are. Nfl superstar talents going to mini camp and injuring themselves on non contact plagues. We've seen this throughout all of sports we've seen and the nfl for many years. A guy who just gets drafted a guy who's making big time. Money injures themselves on a non contact entry or intercept when just standing up in the locker room and getting out of a chair and they injure themselves in stupid ways that just throws off their season and it's ridiculous that they can't get compensated and it's ridiculous how they have to show up for these mandatory minicamps when they are risking injury. Now know people say oh. It's their job they have to. They make millions of dollars. They should be able to practice in mandatory minicamp. They need to show up. Yeah okay you can go that route but then you have to look at the players you have to look at the players who are actually attending these camps. These mandatory minicamps. I think they're stupid. Think they're one of the most dumbest things that in the world. You can have as a football fan. I don't care if somebody doesn't show tomato toward minicamp honestly. Training camp is more important than minicamp if he doesn't show up training camp. Then yeah i'd be worried but mandatory minicamp take off because you're not hitting you're not being physical. You're not playing football. You're not putting on the pads. You are literally in shorts and t shirts and you're literally just running around. It's basically a glorified scrimmage in it's glorified one on one or several hundred seven and obviously ridiculous. The nfl is so high up there when it comes to popularity when it comes to the money they make they make so much money in the nfl when it comes to players owners that they don't want to risk that they don't want to risk not having the opportunity to make their money goes. Let me talk to you and all those secret. These players contracts are not guaranteed. They're not so. Why would i risk a big time contract. That's not guaranteed. We saw this with the often to tackle for the broncos. He got injured turning weightlifting. John jenkins he got injured because he was weightlifting off team property and he was let go..

They've been lifting the mask mandates. Across this country, and I believe ours. Jared in Massachusetts is happening. Is it Friday or Saturday, Saturday Saturday, and I think this is great news, and I'm sure a lot of other people do as well. We do have a guess He's going to join us a little bit later, Toby Young, and I'm excited about that because we're going to talk about The effects of these lockdowns. He's one of these guys who's been skeptical about these models and the pandemic and the lockdown for a really long time. And of course, I mean, he must feel Pretty vindicated from this from all this recent news, so we'll talk to him about that. But before we get to that, I do want to hit a couple other stories. Did you see Notre Dame? What happened there? The commencement. Went ahead without Joe Biden. What? The devout Catholic Joe Biden. Well, here's where it's interesting because I thought that Joe Biden wasn't speaking there because, you know they signed this petition. A lot of the people Notre Dame alumni more than 4400 People sign open letter urging University President John Jenkins not to invite the Democratic president. Um, even though Biden made it clear he wasn't coming, so they're pulling the old. You can't not invite me to the party. I wasn't going to come anyway. And you know I can't hate on them for that. That's a classic move. But they said Biden rejects church teachings on abortion, marriage, sex and gender and his hostile to religious liberty. Like Jared said. I think they're confused because I've been told he is the most devout Catholic. Not only ever to be president. But pretty much ever goes to the point of house every day. He does, And there's gonna be a lot more stories like this about commencement because people are graduating and I saw this weekend. A lot of pictures of people graduating. Ah, lot of graduates walking across the grass with their masks on Still don't understand that part of it. But Kamala Harris, I believe gave some sort of virtual commencement speech and for some Unknown reason Jared Dig, Leo thought to pull that and I'm afraid to play this sound, but we will cut seven. Thanks so much for taking a few minutes to talk to us this morning and let me ask you about this really disturbing case involving 20 year law enforcement veteran Lieutenant John Jenkins Jr arrested on rape charges this week. A lot of times the passengers get belligerent, and then we have to be playing all the the Passengers, which upsets a lot of people. A lot of times you see, the fight's happening at the counter is going to make the flight on time or the flight got canceled. And what upsets me most is that people start to you taping with their phones instead of calling the police right away, so we could get there quicker because we get that our Miami airport is humongous. It's like a city within a city. And we have offices there, but we can't be everywhere. We've had to adjust our patrols at extra overtime so we could be in some of these terminals were experiencing these issues. But what I tell people is called the police will sit there and film and get entertained by this terrible act of violence who just perpetuating this behavior? This CDC guidance now involving mask wearing for those who are fully vaccinated. Do you think that will help? Things on your end. Do you think there will be maybe less confrontations? Because the mask wearing isn't gonna be as prevalent anymore, the need for it. Yes, as they start loosening. That should You deal with a lot of the issues. I still believe those in the airport. You still gotta wear it. But once that starts to relax, that that should help a lot, and that's the issue. People get on the plane. They're like I'm not wearing a mask, and then they have to tell the captain and then everybody out the plane, and that's where everything starts to delay all the flights. Other people in the terminals are upset and, you know, then the next thing you know, punches are being thrown and it's all over TV and it looks bad for our community. It looks bad for our country because it's happening all over the country. And final question for you this week was the anniversary of the ValuJet crash and correct me if I'm wrong, but But you were brand new on the force back then, right? Do you remember anything about that day? The response How do you know that? Yes, I put. I know everything. Director Ramirez E got a great team here. Yes, you do, my friend. I was out of the academy. Yes, that was that was horrible, Terrible tragedy for a community. What? I did learn a lot about it once I was in homicide as a major Our homicide team played a key role in the recovery. Fire Rescue Miami Dade Fire was all hands on deck approach. They were out there on on those boats with alligators and air 15 picking up Remains in pieces of evidence for for weeks and inside that that swampy water was the fuel. So I mean, it was just a big biohazard. Ah, lot of people put their lives on the line that tried to recover his many remains and evidences possible Bring closure. I think it's a great reflection of his community that there's a memorial out there, and we never forgot about that terrible aviation tragedy that happen in our community. And actually, there's like a book written about that from our homicide personnel. And it Zach Chua Li Ah, good guy for those type. God forbid, we ever have a tragedy like that on how to Handle major scene of that nature. The director of the Miami Dade. Well, gun. Yeah. I was bringing you to brother director of the Miami Dade Police department. Freddy Ramirez. You can follow on Twitter M DPD underscored. Director Director Amir is always appreciate the time. "Get Watson here in a minute. But the Bears are losing coaches almost by the handful. Did you see this? The Bears were losing their running backs Coach is well, according to Tom Palace, Arrow. From the NFL network and Ian Rapoport Falcons are expected to hire Charles London is their quarterbacks coach source said a notable title for London who has coached running backs the past nine years with Penn State, the Texans and the Bears. Well, they're not scared off by the fact that he was running backs coach because in fact are running backs threw the ball better. At our quarterbacks this year, So I mean, like it's not is out of the transition from one position to the next, as you may think, has Dave Ragone also left for Atlanta. Has that been reported yet because a lot of people were were Thinking that he was going to Atlanta as well. And he was the passing game coordinator. You listen, I don't think it's zah stretched to come to the conclusion that there are some people who feel that there is more job security elsewhere. Then there is up in Dallas all these days, of course to work for a new coach who just got a new deal and then J. Rodgers, who a lot of people thought was a internal candidate. J. Rogers has been coaching outside linebackers for the Bears since Fox. He came. He came with Vic Fangio J. Rodgers back in the day, I think played quarterback at Indiana. What's either D line coach was either linebacker coach. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I think you may be right. Yeah, I think he was there, D line coach. He was defensive line coach of the year in 2018. But he was a quarterback in college, and then he eventually transitioned over early in his coaching career as a defensive coach. And as and it's a guy they've been able to keep even with Vic leaving and you know they lose Staley and now Staley's the head coach in San Diego. You can argue, too, that he's done a nice job with the guys. If you look at the performance of the guys that he's coached Yeah. Oh, yeah, That's a name. All those guys who have who have thrived under you had any Goldman play? Well, I mean belong Nichols has developed a keen Hicks has become a fantastic player. I mean, he's working also with with Khalil Mack. Um, He's working with a lot of those guys. So John Jenkins this year was somebody that gave them gave them some production. I mean, he's his friend, right and Urban's been was bin has been very good. I think Rogers is has really done a nice job with his guys. Their whole their whole rotation. So J Rodgers is leaving to go to San Diego. So now The guy who was internally a candidate to be the defensive coordinator is leaving. And so now you're left with a few vacancies on offense. You're left with a lot of vacancies on defense, including the D. C. That's going to be interesting. Really Wild, too. Isn't it real quick because like, if you look at the Bears team, the strength of that team is their defense. So if you would think that people would be running away from them Wouldn't be on that side of the ball. You wouldn't think that there would be security, though. You know, I know that's why, Yeah, I know. I'm just saying, like if there was a perception of more security You think that the defense of staff, which has more to work with would be the guys that would be more willing to stay around like did they want to hire J. Rodgers and he chose to be the D C in San Diego in L A. I think I said San Diego earlier in L. A over. Right on the year. Yeah, I don't think you can argue against the concept that you have more to have more job security in in Los Angeles with the charges, Then you do the bears right now, Right? But stay Liza defensive mind so he would still always have You know the over say, but still, you're right about that the security so he, It highlights the point that a lot of people want to get off. You know what I mean? So what Ted Phillips said about Hey, Have we gotten the quarterback completely, right? No. Have we gotten enough wins? No, but we have everything else. Why don't you actually don't have a bunch of coaches right now who want to stay? We call jumping this jumping ship, right? Yeah, Writing off. Jump. I'm just saying jumping ship is probably I've thought I thought that was probably it. Well, it sounds too creepy when I say that the other ways I was just like, you know, you know how we we all sit around. And when somebody says something like that, it's like Beavis and Butthead. Hey said, Get off. Let me And so Here's the latest with Shawn. Watch into what does this mean? He tweeted 28 minutes ago. If you always there for me, that's a really good luck. If you've always been there to support him than you got my back. I got your back. That a good interpretation so dollar translate what you believe This means it both to Mia believes two things one to Shawn Watson is a big future fan. Because this is the second time he's tweeted out future lyrics this from song between future And we'll lose Evert called drinking and smoking. You could smoke a lot of drinking and smoking, drinking his lyrics as always a better drinker and smoker than I was a wide receiver as he greeted the lyrics are if you always there for me, that's a really good look. And, you know, we all know that the Bears weren't Never there for him. They couldn't take him out to dinner. They could. He didn't work him out. They didn't do any of that stuff. So I believe that he believes, Say it again. What's the line if you always there for me, That's a really good look. OK, OK, I like your like your interpretation. He may be playing into of dollars theory. Maybe he doesn't want to come here because he's Ryan Pace has never been in this city and all of a sudden now you need him. Is he sending shade Our way? Is that what he's doing? Um, I don't know. He's tweeting out these these cryptic lyric tweets, right? They're both from future songs. Case has to give up future picks all maybe. Maybe they're your baby. He's maybe he wants to come here. He's talking about his future. Right s O. How long is this bite? Do we have time to play this on the side of the break Black? From I think I think we should hear it after three clock in, like, three minutes, because I mean, it's 2 40. Thank you guys are gonna wanna I think it's fucked provoking for sure. I mean, I think it's you know. Well, the and then because, and we'll play that here coming up in a couple minutes that Louis Riddick was on with greeny today, and it was just in the last hour and he was talking about that. And they're We've heard more about this that the Bears Could be the team. The Bears could be the desperate team Desperate times call for desperate measures. Would he? Would he be willing to approve it? That's the key here. Like if they throw everything If Ryan Pace would pick up the phone, unlike Michael WILBON role playing saying what Ryan Pace would say, Here's your phone back. Yeah, right. "We were just getting done talking about the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and their 31 14 lost to Alabama today in the Rose Bowl. Man on man. Are they gonna bring a Brinks truck to the Devante Smith House house or what? Not Only do they need to bring a Brinks truck, but they probably bring need to bring a hardware store trucks. I think I think he's winning the Heisman on Tuesday. Like that guy is just I'm mean. I didn't watch much of Alabama until maybe a couple weeks ago in the S E C championship game, But watching Devante Smith during that came and then also tonight. That guy. That guy's got himself one heck of the future ahead of him. No doubt about it. And you know you were also mentoring Tyron Williams and what he was able to do tonight. Have a touchdown 64 yards, but you know when they were marching downfield in Tommy tremble got hurt. That was also a massive blow, at least to the offense. Itwas like Tommy tremble. Does everything that off far as being the key, tight end blacker and and being the guy that they can also get out into space. So when he went down was almost like here you go again. At 18 T Stadium, playing in a college football playoff semifinal, just like they did two years ago when they lost Julian Love their pop corner against constant When Julian Love goes out the entire game plan changes When Tommy Trouble goes out. They changed a lot of the stuff that Brian Kelly and Tommy Reese wanted to do offensively, and a lot of it was Senator Ron Carter Willits. Annoyed with US columnist for the South Bend Tribune time when we were on together on the Fourth of July. You brought up the massive expectations for Ian Book this year, and that's what they were massive does does he end up living up to those expectations? Absolutely like the guy was 30 and five as a starting quarterback at the University of Notre Dame, and I think we'll get lost in the shuffle with Ian Book was, everybody looks at guys like we're watching TV right now. They look. Justin Fields Ohio State, They look at Trevor Laurence. They look at other quarterbacks Kyle Trask in Florida and say, Why can't even book beam or like quarterback eight year seat? Mac Tone's that Alabama? He's not that type of quarterback and it's it's something where it's okay. If the guy's not going to go, it's not targeted. Have a 10 year NFL career and be a first round NFL draft choice. At the end of the day? You could still be a really good college quarterback. It's for Ian book to do what he had to do at as a quarterback at the University in the rain, probably one of the most, if not the most scrutinized position in college football for him to go 30 and five in his career as a Turner. People are gonna look back next year or a year year after that, in 2021 or 2022 think you know what Notre Dame had a really good when he and focus the quarterback? Well, let's talk about the future because you know you're more in depth and recruiting than most. Where do they go from here? What happens next? At the quarterback position just in general. I think that it will. We'll start the quarterback position. I think what Brian Kelly really need to look hard at is to bring in a graduate transfer. Maybe the kid from Cincinnati. Maybe, like a one year die because Tyler Buckner's the Future like starting quarterback, but he'll be a freshman next year, and he's from California. So if he didn't play high school Football Hall this year take expect. Tyler Buckner's as much as he's heralded and thought of to step right in to become the starting quarterback at the university, right. I think it's a little hard Think to pine is is more of a bad career back up. They've got a look. Maybe outside the box next year at a quarterback then when we talked about earlier, too, they just need to fight still position. Playmakers, guys you can put on the field and feel like you know what If we need to make a play, I can go toe. This guy. That guy or a guy like Michel mayor who's just gonna continue develop a tight end. In a pro across like I can go to different guys to move the ball down the field to not have to rely solely on the Kyron Williams to pick up first downs and touchdown. Did you end up being surprised of how this year went again when we were talking on the Fourth of July? That was just when the Ireland trip was getting canceled, were like you know what the hell is going on? Really mean? That's that's what everybody was thinking. I mean, were you surprised even after Notre Dame had the covert scared too? Are you surprised? We're talking right now about the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day? Yes, you know, like I don't We do. The defense was going to be really good. And we do maybe the offense if they could find some some different playmakers. The offices line, one of arguably one of the top two or three offensive lives in the country. When I was surprised about was after the covert scare, like I don't think there was a team. In the country outside of Alabama. That took this college football season as seriously as Notre Dame like Marine has a scare and father, John Jenkins, the university president. Was this close, just pulling the plug on everything. Sending the student body home, sending the football program home and say We're not going to deal with this. If you guys are going to take it seriously. There was not a program in the country outside of Alabama that took this more seriously and said, You know what if we want to go to the college football playoff? We wanna Max this season out. We've got to follow all the protocols and do all the right things. And basically put ourselves in the bubble for 12 weeks. No rain was able to do that, And that was the result of it like they were in the college football playoff because they took the cove it and all the protocols and everything else that went along with it. Seriously. That's it. We're not gonna let this affect our season. Other than that weak force cancelation, right? Never really did it Didn't. I know you also cover Notre Dame basketball quite a lot to big game tomorrow. Down in North Carolina in Chapel Hill, four o'clock What are your impressions of Mike Brace team so far this year time? It's been such a struggle on like I tweeted yesterday. Look at the seventeen's out of if tomorrow will be the night game and with with cold feet, you have no idea like the game could be could be canceled an hour and a half before tips. This will be their seventh game. There's some of their 19 7 Other nine games. Let me roll these off Michigan State, Ohio State Kentucky. Per do, Duke. Virginia and now North Carolina, and then you throw in development and Detroit mercy like that. Mike Brey wanted to play it a crusher schedule. Didn't thought is this program was ready for it. I don't think they were quite ready for what they've had to experience. Maybe that helps them later on down the line in the agency, But it's been a struggle for another name. But again, they feel like everybody talks about what are they going to do? How? How are the houses kind of preparing for the tournament? How is this going to prepare our they're going to get to the anti German. They're not even taken of that..

Well, yeah, if you remember he went to the to the To the Rose Garden, and he was not wearing a mask. Where's along with many other people there, And, of course, that had some pretty far fetching ramifications for the students back at Notre Dame. We were basically on him on his case about not wearing a mask, and he ended up getting coronavirus. Yep, I want to talk to another consequence of this lot of people were saying Amy Cockney Barrett should recuse herself when it comes time for election challenges. And as the election challenges have come to the Supreme Court, if you will notice, there has been no dissent as far as the Supreme Court throwing those election challenges out. So it looks like a least according to Ah, to this particular subject matter, Amy Cockney. Barrett has proven herself a person of her word. As far as You know not to. Not being partial to the president who nominated her for the position. I'm personally just very interested to see how Amy Kuney Barrett's positioning on the Supreme Court affect issues that are pertinent to both sides of the political spectrum, because, as you said, it appears that she has remained true to her word. But I remember speaking to Dr Laura Wilson you nd on. She said that her placement would more than likely result in a clash of ideologies. Regardless s O.
