Being a one-man-band in business

"It so if folks want to check out what you're working on. Its use slingshot dot com and your h one is your easiest swag campaign. ever quality branded swag accustomed. merchandise store for employees fans and worldwide fulfillment. And where you stand now. You're the only employee you're single founder. And you do. Have you told me many contractors. Who are doing design or development or fulfillment or just filling in gaps can't handle on a day-to-day basis as founder. Do you wanna give folks an idea of where the business stands whether you are willing to to share revenue just some type of size to give an idea of the stage you launched it. It is december of two thousand twenty and you launched january. So it's about a year old. But i'm guessing you had worked on it for quite a bit before. Then go on that at all. Basically twenty nineteen when i launch it actually. The january first is almost two years. Got yeah totally different model. That was working pretty well. We had about ten clients on that model was month the month. It was neat. Swag story giveaway points and you can kind of transfer those points in to like. Hey he did something. Great there was a kpi or a birthday or start date. I'm really fun. But we knew it was one of the things that wasn't a requirement at a company. They'll still trying to build that really fine. Product market fit for the necessity. And it's hard to do and kobe and march and so when that hit this year every single person quit except for one. We're still trying to build up that market and find out what that was. And since then i've met with a really smart people since then that helped me kind of guide my way to the troop paddock market. That we now have an awesome platform that had of now. We're gonna hit around two hundred thousand by the end of this year and revenue. I saw him the only employee. And i'm wearing billion hatchets. My wife knows and other than that. I am able to really export and pay premium. People don't actually physically. No but i paid for you know fulfillment and some warehouse and now i pay people for marketing and down the building new product releases but allowed me to really focus on sales client relationships etc. So we're doing really well. It's a totally different changements. Still in the same vein that we are giving away grape swag to people deserve it and that's the thing is is your background is in design and you x and if folks want to check you out dribble you've john howard is your username and you actually started an agency called black airplane which is at black airplane dot com that you exited about four or five years ago and he sold it to someone who could who could level it up but i mean the logos on the homepage of that are coca cola. Mcdonald's home depot the weather channel. So i mean those were. I'm assuming clients many clients that you closed right so are you. Are you the double threat of an amazing designer and also an enterprise sales person. That'd be a little braggadocious for me. But i appreciate i think really look at things more for user experience side. And that's what he has given me. An ability always wanted to start a business. I think that was my first love. I lost my job at an agency. That i worked at and kind of forced me into. Hey why not start an agency love business and you love doing design work. That was the kind of love story there. And because of that. I put all of my effort into making that happen. That was black airplane. I did not do any development. There was just a dying we ended up working with some really amazing clydes that you mentioned some of those cola being one of the most recognizable here in atlanta. And because of that. I kind of handed that off at one point that i really wanted to go build a product company especially working with products all the time and people who are doing products and keeps you energized. And i handed off people much more formidable to me to building an agency building that up and they're just doing a tremendous job now and they made it now the full gamut of design and development. So it's really grown. it's blown up. I think eighteen people now. And when i left it was two people and we had eight contractors so big change for you. That's that's cool to know when to hand something off and you know when to let it kind of take wings and give it to someone who perhaps can can take it to that next level if it's not something you want to do. I'm curious then. So you were running this agency. The description on the home pages were a digital product design and development firm in woodstock georgia and we're on a mission to make sure no digital experience gets left behind. You obviously have the chops weather. Your own design skills or through the network of contractors or employees that you worked with to build full on digital products web and mobile whatever. Why start something. A physical component basically a swag not a swag shop. It's it's a. You started a product that allows other brands to launch their own swag campaigns or swag shops versus just going building a suffer product. A sass or whatever because you obviously have the skill and the experience to do that. Yeah and i. I've done that before If i could show my rap sheet of how many things have failed might give you a long list done a lot that they they made minor successes here and there. But i've learned a lot along the way. I'm really fascinated with physical and kind of marrying digital world to a physical product. And i think i've really been obsessed with that for a long time and we'll be excited about it was at Black airplane we didn't slap and i don't know how the slagle it's now there but it's always been great. Slept our websites and name to we're about on people swag. We just gave them really great swag every single time. People would brag on that we had. I used to joke that people would wear the black airplane swag out to the park or on a date they would rip the sleeves off and there and cut grass with it. You know. it wasn't one of those types of shirts that you hated or hats or whatever really nice stuff and i saw. The people got really excited about that and there was a neat. And i'm really obsessed with your experience i wanted to build. This product platform had married that experience of getting something from an employee your colleague or boss and in receiving that in your hand and physically seeing that side of things as well so i got

Low Cut Connie Showcases A New Ambition On 'Private Lives'

"This is fresh air. The Philadelphia band low cut, Connie makes what you might call old fashioned rock and roll guitar and piano based rooted in classic rhythm and blues. The band can count as fans Elton John Howard Stern and Barack Obama, who put one of the band's songs on his 2015 summer playlist. Now locate. Connie, led by singer songwriter Adam Weiner has released a double album called Private Lives, and Rock critic Ken Tucker says that this modest band's new ambitiousness Is a rock a success. You do it you gotta do just to survive. If you see local Connie live, which you can still do, even in pandemic times. By watching the band's weekly Livestream shows, you'll see front and center band leader Adam Weiner. He's got the beady eyed look of a highly intelligent ferret. His head topped with a massive, untamed, curly hair. At some point in every proceeding, he strips down to reveal a sleeveless undershirts and pasty skin free of both vanity and irony. Wiener pounds his piano and shakes his head and his rear end in the great tradition of Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis, and sometimes he's almost as entertaining.

Make Australia Gay Again

"Okay. Jeremy. So you found these stamps. They're clearly very gay What what's the deal like? Where do they come from? I've never heard of this Gay Kingdom what is it where is it and how can I move there? Are you messing with this? Jeremy is even a real thing. It's actually real and I've been working all day and night to find out more. I've called experts from the United Nations. The Council on Foreign Relations. I've made burner phones. My apartment's walls are covered and post it. Notes detailing epic story behind this kingdom yarn. Did you connect them John? It's GonNa ask the same thing. Yes it's required and after lots of law sleep. I think I finally have some answers. Hermit sexual people have honestly endeavoured everywhere to merge ourselves in the social life of surrounding communities and to be treated equally. This is an excerpt from the declaration of Independence of the gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the coral sea islands. A nation created for life liberty the pursuit of happiness. And all things gay well technically. It's a micro nation. So we'll micro nation is a place that declares that they are a nation but aren't recognized by other countries So it's basically someone walks out into their front yard and they're like my front yard is a nation In their mind they are their own country but they don't really have any recognition or any kind of Legitimacy in terms of the global stage this is Derrick Thomas. I tracked him down after he made fun video online about the gay and Lesbian Kingdom. I created a youtube channel. That has an ongoing series on micro nations and kind of the funny stuff that they get up to so there see land of land lower Malaysia. Lieber Land Danica in the Game Lesbian Kingdom of the Cross island. Derek told me that this gay kingdom was born in two thousand four when Australia passed a law saying that marriage was strictly between a man and a woman with gay marriage all the rage in America. The changes here a designed to thwart any similar attempts legal recognition. At Dav aside their community is facing a new wave way of homophobia. Here's John Howard. The prime minister at the time. The definition of marriage is something that should not a time potentially be subject to redefinition will change so in an attempt to protect against future gay marriages the law said marriage is by definition between a man and a woman and every single wedding ceremony in Australia. I kid you not that definition had to be like at your wedding you would need to say the words marriage. According to law in Australia is the Union of a man and a woman. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard in so romantic really but Derek said it actually kind of backfired and drew a lot more attention from activists about gay marriage than ever before Australia including one group in two thousand and four a group of gay rights activists who were attending the Brisbane. Gay Pride Festival Were frustrated with two thousand four marriage amendment act in Australia. They got on a boat. Well a seaplane That they christened the gay flower sailed it out to an island in the coral sea islands. Territory called CATO. Island planted a flag and said this is our country now Gay Marriage is legal. And that's kind of how the gain lesbian keenum of coral sea islands

How Winston Churchill defeated Nazism despite his 'black dog'

"Now today on the show visual defend our island whatever they got maybe we should fight on the beaches on the landing grounds the field and in the street fighting the hill will never surrender churchill the subject of countless plies movies drama series documentaries and biographies indeed believe it or not there have been a thousand Churchill Biographies One thousand the first biography was written in nineteen ninety five and the author of the latest one is our guest today now according to the prominent British columnist and historian Tom and heffer regular guest on this program this most recent Churchill biographies the best single volume imaginable of a man whose life would seem take impossible to get into a single volume the book is called Churchill Walking with destiny and the author is Andrew Roberts who's written other water declined books including a biography on Napoleon and the storm of war a new history of the Second World War Andrew Welcome to ABC Radio Thank you Tony took great on us now as I mentioned they've already been a thousand Churchill books published what's different about yours when I was very fortunate that there's been an enormous amount of sources that have come out over the last five years since I've been writing this book the Queen allows me to be the first Churchill biographer to use of his diaries and came due to sex mets church every Tuesday at the second mobile church who trusted him the great secret civil war and luckily rate down everything churchill say within forty one new sense of papers have been deposed to church college archives in the Cambridge University and other people like the servies investor time I even mice gate rations diaries basic become available giving those same in fact now on top of the dates and accounts of the war cabinet but I discovered six years ago allows me to have some they pretty much every page book it's never appeared in nature to focus okay well let's start with Churchill's upbringing can you tell us about Winston's parents briefly well he's talking to the upper cloth he was a charismatic successful Victorian politician he became chance of Exchan- so you never saw any of genius in Churchill and green to netted frankly they all the Stanford right to any sound full of contempt and to stay and his son Winston continue to love him and Martin and when his father died when Winston was twenty he raises who's focusing in Winston sorry randolph someone's name and he basically didn't allow it to to scream up whereas his mother also route took nations over to she was a great American future in society maybe something offense with the Prince of Wales Austrian about Saddam heels Okay and you went to school did he do you have did you have much luck at school I mean what sort of student was he he was a monster the student and he made himself out to be it's very rare for politicians to try and make themselves out to be thicker than they genuinely All I it should be in fact that being the dumbs 'cause he portrayed himself broke free my life he in fact was in the top third of all the classes ooh okay well let's turn to Churchill politics because he wasn't always a conservative he crossed the parliamentary floor in Nantes in four over the threat four government opposed to free trade in non white at thirty three he was the youngest cabinet member in forty years and then of course he was pretty significant figuring the British military from an early age this is of Relevance to Australians Andrew What do you wrote about his filings glibly in Nineteen fifteen well of course he was responsible for the idea of the of attacking the Straits of the dodgers novels and it was a brilliant idea to come off name one of the great strategic tunes of the of history of all Pfaff but as we all know say silently on the eighteenth of March nineteen fifteen Liane go six ships foods straits and then of course largely town to Him we double down and and landed all the way through fifteen and of course over the next eight months few one hundred forty seven thousand casualties suffered in the in the West Inside Straight so this was a drastic and terrible decision but one boots the real problem came in implementation well yeah okay now we went into politics to elect liberals rejoined the conservatives in the mid nineteen twenties what did he do that because the conservatives came back to the idea of free trade they it'd been the policy that let's say that's the party he joined the Nipples does the Conservatives dumps feature each and David intense you're often attributed with the quite quite I if a man is not a suspect I by the time he's twenty he has no heart if he's not a conservative by the time he's forty he has no brain churchill really say that I am and unfortunately there are lots of great lines like that but he didn't say he might have if you're going to keep going for example make the safest shape about about lady astor drinking coffee around any number of things keeping lucky men like Groucho Marx no power say funny things people with cheating too even if you didn't say those funny things it was talking about Winston Churchill with Andrew Roberts now Andrew your account numerous occasions when Churchill cheated death in your fi. He survived a school stabbing Cuban Bullets Boer Artillery German shells on the western front a near drowning replaying crushes three car accidents and a house fire Croaky and I'm actually very serious mainly at the age of eleven nomadic agent doctors administered brandy to the inevitable and which she wanted to be so you will send you make the point the church will develop the art of seeing virtually everything through the prism of history yeah it was the fact that he wasn't himself from historic congruent several extremely good he's a genius he was widely seen as Virginia wasn't he won the Nobel Prize for literature and actually he's unhappy about that because the price for peace that he was going to win communicants history who actually has been disappointed when he got the Nobel Prize which shop now we talk about a lot of people think of Churchill he's attitude towards the Nazis and Hitler and of course the British policy of appeasement toward Nazi Germany people forget this but in the late thirties it was actually popular with the British people tell us more about how Churchill riled against the spirit of the Times in the lightning thirties well he was only a final team is it's like jeeze you grew up with Jesus father did like the whole day with them they appreciated the service they it says humanity he was honest from quite an early age and saying he had an early warning system came during the Nazis that a lot of the other people in many wrench AC- rights didn't have also were so we mentioned earlier in being an historian he he sold the threat let's go to the European balance of power that we opposed and EDUC- seen fanaticism place in his life in a way that the other primary tonight people standing Naples we will never change and didn't say he was the first major predisposition of the decade the only major politician to not only warn against Hitler Nazis but also talk with an idea about what do I e rearming especially in the air the by the way you know you obviously know John Howard our second longest serving prime minister did you know that he's middle name is Winston it was named by his parents in mid Naughty thirty nine? When as we've discussed Winston Churchill was anything but the flavor of the month he was seen as yesterday's man rod that shows John's parents and Great must be full size. This is searching tremendously impressive actually I didn't know that's in Ann Arbor got I think yeah well during the war Churchill husband and relations with the United States which meant that America applied an important role in helping Britain defeat awesome but what about the altar pace conference towards the end of World War Two was not Churchill's finest hour why well because they back large number of famine of Yugoslavs to to get to Marshal Tito too because he he basically killed them and a hand backlog Germans and ethnic Germans who an ethnic Russians as well actually Cossacks to stone promptly murdered them as well so as far as the share sort of real politique day was concerned they had to believe result in general had to believe starlings were vulne- that he was going to get to respect the integrity and independence another eastern European countries but unfortunately Adelson those deals went shot which net new Mexico's yeah false assurances by S- talented the free elections would be held in eastern Europe but I mean you bit hot on Churchill because many historians would decide that the dying FDI he essentially stitched Churchill up I didn't believe that case I've been I've found myself we H mccown superbowl cabinet Churchill held on return from Yalta in which very much that he thought he could business was done in the deeper deep stalling the only alternative to trust on of course he was for that much thin walls and it's very other fueled fairness of course because in a million Russian soldiers variant at the time he was also at Folsom Missouri in March Ninety six When you made the Great Iron Kerr in speech the first major Western politician to warn against started was doing in eastern Europe

"I'm discovering myself of course larger deals. Give more opportunity. I find and sunni what joma suggesting equally you're dealing with different types of people suppose at got into the market but i think most crucially talked about. He's on what he calls. The unbreakable rules his unbreakable rules <hes> which just recite them if he can't resell it straight on <unk> after buying it for a prophet then he won't buy the first place that's a property of course if you buy a property refurbish and sell it with a profit afterwards then he won't buy it if he can't buy it refer letter refinancing refinance it in such a way that he gets musk's money back out and he went to that so they were the three unbreakable rules a house which gives three multiple exits in three different ways at three different time of course we talked about the idea of having to be disciplined of course sometimes sitting on the hands for quite a long time so they'll awesome lots that came together that she's trying to think of his any other key points. We really talk about the. I wanna share with with your property. Being a long game of course and of course he's been involved in lots of different. Income streams related to property is the state agency if i had estate agency businesses auction house u._k. Is proxy trader is blonde property development. He's got investments so there's multiple income streams and <hes> prophecy related most approximated. I guess we can add cambridge united racing your orders non-protected income streams as well to that list and <hes> you gave you tips on spotting recessions if you like what account for from government policy and political points of view towards the end so you know i guess there's some worry about having a balanced income and capital trading and investing so not just multiple in income streams but different strategies as well within the series of contacts who in the show notes these websites mentions john howard property expert coda u._k. Personal phone numbers in their on air 'cause he didn't and that's it yeah also you can watch one tv on sky sky tv these on the property elevates a show which is kind of a dragon's den style and property question time i think think masha the bow form but certainly one sky channel one eight nine and you'll find him at per property tribes as well posting from time to time so there we go. That's what i wanted to share that. I and i think it's just want to say thanks to join if you're listening for for sharing today but on recording this segment of the show after eleven o'clock doc on a tuesday evening as my podcast goes live six a._m. On wednesday and the reason do nice. I had a really busy day. My daughter is working with me today and she left a few hours ago and she said i'm not sure i want to work for myself. It seems like a lot of work and we didn't really have time to talk about that in detail and follow on but of course the i have been working pretty hard i was i was a white before six today and i'm going to go to bed quite considerably artem midnight probably at this rate is going to get the podcast up and running for you to listen to first thing in the morning and it's a lot of things happened in between but i chose to do much of why did today. That's the big difference so i did choose to have an evening seminar with some of my practices. I had a couple of hours on the phone when i'm talking about building building out an integrated content management or content marketing platform and this deal opportunities as well there so i think it's been fun..

"Probably you know i still enjoy that. I enjoy the chase and enjoy the jail. I love getting re people and i love helping people and and that's the way wor ended up writing the book because i got fed up. All the advice always always hearing people who've been given and a lot of it. I didn't agree with <hes> but <hes> you know that's just the book and then it's led to all this publicity and being on t._v. And in a second book coming out third book being written and so on so ah good fun. Let's talk about the book from i'm not yeah when anew when i was introduced to you by mutual friend vanessa ah obviously on a wanting to know more about your soul that you've written the book property developments and investment full newcomers yeah i will and i had it delivered same day bama's. He's not a great service by the way trump is. They take an awful lot of my money out of it. You know my my website. Don't have the expert dot code that u._k. Apologized for doing it that way but the problem until i wanted to read it before a spoke to you is the <hes> is is the reasons i feel forgive me. I'm telling you have at least <unk> but the few things that really stood out to me so at i think one of the things he's clearly you have this <hes> interested in helping people forty forty four <music> decades rather in the business and you writing and giving seminars and help people so he's obvious you wanna give back you. I you know i genuinely enjoy enjoy. I always have and i've always had lots of people. Ask me john. You know what about what about that so you know what you what was the next natural step really <hes>. I thought well actually you know i've done it for so long and a lot of people giving advice if done it for so little time it must be worthy of frightening reading ah <unk> otherwise another thing spotted on your website <hes> which is john howard property expert. Don't count it. You can't believe you've you. Use your mobile number on that yeah so you don't want a bit of personal contacts. No no especially if someone's gotta deal. They want to sell me. I'm delighted. I'm delighted lighted. I'm delighted to hear from them and we pay two percent finders fee <hes> and we always have deal we go then so there's the plug right there but to get into the book thing yeah couple of angles lights pick up one is as you say you to write such a book. That's that's one angle but the other was some of the contents itself into also <unk> property investor is becoming prophecy developed uh-huh self by the way which i think is an awful lot of people like that who started off investing and and there's nothing wrong with that whatsoever but if decided why did they want to step it up a little bit perhaps or their party let the boss let mark is a big stagnant and the growth. They've had they not. They don't see a lot. We'll grow from the next few years and want to carry on you know earning earning good money from property <hes> and that's why i think you know <hes>. It's caught on a little bit you know yeah. It has yeah certainly related earlier. When you talk about dating we've tried onsides and stuff like that so we've taken before that angle right now but his a couple of things that really stood out to me when i read your book the festival it was a very very strong clear emphasis on getting in and out time in the deal and in particular a revelation for me. "Of breweries there right now. Yeah i know and that that's one of the things i've always kind of as kind of picked my brain. I'm like at some point. I have to really research parts that because it it is intriguing to why it's called brewery town. Kosovo philly does have its own brewery history <hes> and but <hes> yeah you you know actually i don't really know infill you like right now driven out i promise i don't get to philly a lot right so i don't really get to sample of what's going on <hes> <hes> so i plug a for my friends at luv city. If you get the figured philly hit love city okay fantastic. There's a lot of really good version philly but love city is outstanding john. You're talking about a big and i'm gonna put you on a spot a little bit. Oh vegan meal. What what kind of beer would ooh well. I think with that. I get paid. The big bucks richer yeah. That's why it's vicks provost. Here's the thing with any type of food or entree entree. It's really gonna depend on how prepared and how it seasoned <hes> even with vegan you know because i think nowadays you know it used to be that you know venture being. They'll try to pretend that it's something else. Here's a here's a cheese steak but it's really not a cheesecake. I think now what you're seeing now is that they're presenting vegan as this is what it is so so i think it really depends. I mean obviously really not going to drink a lot of heavy heavy stuff. You're going to stay on the lighter side of things <hes> but yeah i think it's really down to seasoning and and how it's prepared <hes> you know so. I think i think with with beer. I think you know more so than wine. I think you have a lot of different options options. I think you can really <hes> have fun with it. That's why like you can have fun with it. <hes> i tend to not like to have a beer paired with food. They're very similar in style. I kind of like a little contrast or like. I think if you know the food has like two parts of the court and the beer has the third part you know maybe it's a part. That's missing from the food but the beer adds that little extra to it. That's very wise. Kinda makes everything kinda. Stand out though it's not gonna all mesh together together. You don't want the fighting you want them to play night. You wanna you want them to coordinate but you also like you. Don't want it to kind of like. I said all blend in yeah. You want to have like a nice crisp crisp or a good finish of of a drink or beer. Yeah that will complement the spicer. What have you mentioning that so. I think about wine i so you know i try wine. I'll say this is the one that can be had itself or this is the one that will play nice with food. You know there are certain wines that really should be just had on its own right but others that are like you could tell like this is good but you know with food is a really good right. <hes> i found some italian wines or that that way you know. Some counties are so dry just so bone barren dry. You're like i understand why you would drink that and then you have this big heavy some some kind of pasta course and you're like oh oh right john sense right you know but the funny you said about music. That's my favorite thing thing. I hate by durham butler other show. We do music all the time. We're comparing music to to be all the time right yep. Is that saying you said about chords it. Is that same parallel music you you do it in mixing music all the time. Sometimes we'll do that to an acoustic guitar. You're thin the acoustic guitar on the sound so it cuts over the mix you know so does has its own place in the mix. Everything it has its own spot..

"German beer really nice german and german beer very classic did nice crisp job on that and that's kind of hard to get hard to get in a lot of the bruins you know in a lot. A lot of times are breweries. They're they're wanting for space and a logger. Yeah of course it takes a little bit longer and you really need to have the space from that and i know a lot of them. Were hesitant to do that because they didn't have the space to have one of their fermenters tied up for a while and also like the eb and flow of popularity you know let's not the gung ho choice right now. You're getting those milkshake as as the hazy stuff so sometimes the <hes> the e._s._p.'s and other things are on this list there you know popular brewers like the broom people like to drink released. I definitely do but <hes> you know you have to make room for. What's going to definitely sell and what's going to not take up the space of your storage and that's why we still see a lot of i._p. As on on microbreweries because they're the ones that sell you know you got to be able to pay the bills. You know he's wanted to your fun stuff create stuff but you still going to be you want to be your bills and sometimes it's what's an. I don't know some of the things that are called as now did. They used to be called pale ales. Yeah and i think that happens in session session i._p. As allowed paleo-ish at this point you know richard. What beers out there for you you that you really liked that. You don't see enough of well. I mean we had summer so i'm always stout and porter late in the summer because i'm not a i mean i get y. Seasonal seasonal beers happened. You know i don't spend a lot of time in the actual heat you know because i'm a polar bird heart so i live in air conditioning so it's perfectly fine for me to drink. I smoked porter in the in the summer. It's still delicious to me. You know to enjoy that so. I just don't see a lot. I don't see them anyway. I didn't think the season was very <hes> this winter this fall winter season. I didn't think it was very stout or porter. Heavy wasn't really heavy. No it was very i._p. Have thought it was very big double. I p a very a lot of that kind of thing going on. You know i mean i really do like quarters but i feel like most people will have. We have to have a poorer right. What a puerta on there but alive or not yeah what importers right it wasn't a big thing and i think <hes> and it's come up on a few times now but i think with the rise of of small breweries being able to put out a new beer constantly changing their their lineup. I think the idea of the seasonal beer too two or at least a waiting for the beer comes out all the time i for me. This year was bring up. All the time is in the shamanic creek company. <hes> you know pennsylvania in their leon. Imperial aerostat is the first beer. I fell in love with and a beer an hour for five years. Now i've waited for to come out you know every april march when it comes out and this is the first year i completely completely forgot about it because i'm so not used to thinking about a beer coming out every few months because something's coming out constantly coming out constantly tears coming up every second some of those coming out with something and there's something something especially in the world is great for my a._d._d. Because it's like oh there's something new. There's some new yeah yeah yeah yeah and this is like new shiny. Let me try this. I like trying everything even though i don't like i._p._a.'s and ryan knew that for my article but i definitely will try everything in your hands on and hope to find that holy grail of an effort was going into and it's never going to happen but if that was going into crushes pills nurse i you know berliner weiss. <hes> beautiful red you know soured brielle's beautiful things that belgian stuff that i love that'd be awesome. That'd be fantastic but that's not happening. It's happening in.

"Richard and i and all of our partners speak to a lot of the brewers brewers a lot of the brewery owners all the time and they definitely are some very much so alan. What are you drinking. I mean you must take a little bit of beer. At least some mm-hmm i fear the summertime went through the outside to tonight when all my son from upstate new york doc from massachusetts from philadelphia whenever the bringing out drinking trying new craft beer there's always something new <hes> every time they come into slavery and they're all good. They're all good <hes>. I don't think they're attached to one could kick flavor. I think they're attached to whatever flavor of the month visit their their purchasing my son in law up in massachusetts other way down they stopped at a place called tree house feel right out my buddy colleagues the head of the canning line there and becomes a coup of beer that everyone shares through the weekend at my house so they are doing it right at treehouse. That's the head and find out. What the waiting time is there before you go. There is is an amazing day. Do no advertising. They hardly distribute and there's lines around the block yeah. It's an amazing place. Whoa mature. Hey you know i know mostly. You're centered with the customers in north jersey what we are south jersey beer scene and even know we we kinda are tendrils. Go a little bit further out than just south jersey. What kind of experience have you had in south jersey heavier met or her or started working with any south jersey brewers. Australia's Federal Election May Be a Tight Race

"Ever since Malcolm Turnbull nearly lost the twenty sixteen election, the polls, the pundits and the bidding markets that consistently put lie in a winning position pointing to a landslide this weekend. But such is the magic politics that the federal election could be a lot closer than anyone had the raw to expect a week or whatnot agai, remember during the past half-century close vigil elections favor, the incumbent, you think of Gordon's narrow victory over whitland in sixty nine the so-called don's party or Gillard up against Abbott losing her majority in twenty ten but when oppositions wind power from the government, the victories are usually in fatty, you think of phrases massive landslide against whitland, seventy five or how smashing catering in ninety six but in politics, there are no guarantees, and the smart money is still on a lie. Victory. And according to my guest, that may be a good thing for conservatism and the nation. Australia, where told needs a shortened government to help us break out of Al complacency genital Ricksen is a columnist with the Australian. She's a board member on the institute of public affairs, and a former board member here at the get I Janet, welcome to our Tom, now you're leading conservative commentator. So naturally, many of our listeners here on between the lines. We'll be shocked to hear you say that a and prime ministership could be a good thing house on Tom. I think some of my raiders were shelter and I made that argument few weeks ago, but I think it's we've now come to the position where we need the lived experience of a shorten government to return, the labor party to the wisdom of the hawk aiding agenda. We need a short and government to force a liberal party to get through what I think, is an existential crisis identity crisis to rediscover its roots to rebuild a very confused. Brand. And we, we the voters, we need lived experience of short and government to, to deliver, what I call buyer's remorse to realize that whitland, esque mix of big promises without policies that grow the economy is not just nicotinic disaster. But a social disaster, and I really think you have to go back to the days of the Whitlam era, to, to find the level of complacency that we see today, and my colleague at the astray Lian PO Kelly code. It know that nineteen sixties grand delusion, that continued prosperity was a strategy is destiny. And it's true, we've had almost thirty years of, of economic growth, but that is not a given. So you sign in the shorten economic agenda increases the prospects of a recession, and Farley will be mudbound, reality. I think that's absolutely right. Because Bill Schoten is very honest that he's politics, the politics of redistribution not growing economic pie, and it's it's much easier by the white to redistribute rather grow the economic pie. If you think of the big reform. The hard reforms in a strategy during the eighties nineties, and the early two thousands. They were hard reforms, but they were important reforms. It liberalized the economy. We're not seeing those same kind of policies with the short and government. He's Fago economics is a slogan. It's premised on complacency is premise on emotion. Just listen is shooting in some of the might say that, you know, we're, we're experiencing an ideological seachange in the electric, the oldest twenty percent of the electorate si- fifteen years ago in two thousand and four. When you wrote that conservatism was cool on the John Howard, the oldest twenty percent back. Then they largely voted for the coalition. They've been replaced by the youngest twenty percent of voters who lift, you got social media Twitter trolls, all the ride a poll show that socialism has risen in stature, especially among these millennials. And of course you got tried unions. They luckily to be reim- powered. So have haven't times changed time certainly have changed in the environment's changed. But what? What you're saying is very much. You know, not just the liberal party and existential crisis, but the left side of politics is strong because it's buttressed by so many elements in civil society that you do not see, on the centre-right of politics strata. It's almost as if liberalism depends on the liberal party in a stray area. And if you have a liberal party that stepped away from those basic, liberal values, what's left, so it really is up to other organizations, I think, to build the foundations of liberalism in ustralia to make deeper than the liberal party cannot rest on a conviction later such as John Howard. We haven't had one since two thousand and seven and look, what's happened to liberal values in that time you've had get up. You have the unions, you have the light party and other organizations. It's up to the center right of a Strayer to rebuild to make the case for liberal values. And that's what hasn't happened. You've written the Rausing damp of the wits in the liberal party has lift the joint with dodgy foundations. And just might clear, the conservatives now would rather walk away than stand up and fought. And he also criticized the so-called modern liberals. But at these decisions by the senior liberals to shift towards the so called center at they attempts to adjust to what many political analysts, I is an increasingly more progressive political and cultural landscape. I certainly think that way in politicians nervous about, you know, their prospects that they start to put on new labels. And we're saying range of liberals call themselves modern liberals. Now, I've pressed a few of them as to what the what that means, and it really doesn't mean anything, it's just a bit of branding. I call it branding bunkum. What is the most important to be successful in politics, merger of conviction with good retail political skills? We've seen that before the last ten years, though, we've seen we've seen the party and politicians on the center, right suffer a deficit of both conviction, and, and really good retail politics now recently under Scott Morrison, I think the party has started to reimburse, for example, explain the social good of a strong economy, the virtues of lower taxes, allowing people to have more of their own money to make decisions how they spend their money. But imagine if the liberal party had more core values at the center of it story for the past ten years, it would be in a much stronger position. It's not about rebranding as modern liberal. I mean this, this guy's back today, but Cameron calling himself, a compassionate conservative, or which had Nixon, quote himself, a conservative with a heart. What does it mean if liberal parties, make the moral case for classical liberalism, you want convince voters about the purpose of a liberal governor Cosa, just to clarify, you think it's premature to read the last rods two Austrailia conservatism. Your argument, is that conservatives a losing tonight because they not farting. But Janet, we had on this program last week Tim sue pomace on the former rice discrimination Commissioner, and he I use that a short vitual Mark the end of what's derided as neoliberalism hasn't market capitalism, filed given the widespread economic inequality, wick told by because I think the evidence is just not there for, for widespread economic inequality. It's become a slogan. If you look at their three surveys from the can. Census. And I think there was another one by Hilda. They all showed that inequality has pretty much not changed over three decades of productivity commission. More recently is found that claims to growing income inequality. Not true. The economic growth has lifted standards across all income groups. I mean these are the facts, but the slogan of income inequality is being used to justify dismantling capitalism, in the name of some sort of utopian social democratic project, we've been here before now at this stage Paul's point to alive victory. But Malcolm Turnbull mind tines he would won the election, if it weren't for his wing enemies in the media, and the potty room. Let's hear for major Neal's interview with tumble on the BBC two months ago at the time of the coup in August. We were level pegging on the public Paul's or the opposition and we were four points ahead on the polling in the marginal seats. But basically, you could argue that the concern was not that I would lose the election, but rather that I would win it. You telling me your own party didn't want you to win the next. I'm just saying if you analyze credit. Well, Andrew, you've only got to look at the facts because Malcolm Turnbull on the base on why he would have won the election Janet Albertson. Well, I see we've moved into the comedy section of

You're there for the food and the drinks. Okay. Well, you must know little bit right? You see a jersey from time time, tell me who you think is one of your favorite players that your squad drafted, you know, maybe change the history or just became an iconic player from that franchise like, for example, me man lot Ronnie Lott hard to top. He played for the USC Trojans and then became a forty Niner. Wow. I was perfect for me because I was a Trojans fan. And to see him go over there to the forty Niners thought that was pretty cool and there's been many but that one stands out anyway, again, eight seven seven five ninety three eight seven seven three four four four eight nine three. Israel's Netanyahu wins re-election, main challenger concedes defeat

"History is littered with great political comeback fodders. You think of Churchill Menzies do goal Nixon John Howard here in Australia by Japan Mahattaya in Malaysia well at Benjamin Netanyahu to the list region off time and again and against all the odds. He's bounceback with tremendous force to win a fifth term as Israel's prime minister now to he more about Netanyahu's triumph, and what it means for the Middle East. Let's he from one of Israel's most prominent commentators Yari is an Israel by Philo at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. He's author of among other books toward Israel Palestinian disengagement. I heard welcome to IB radio. Thank you for having. How do you account for Netanyahu's victory? Well, number one is to us. Over these comes to running election campaign and years, the manage the compaign alone single handed with a bunch of twenty five year old. Kids who were doing the social media for him. But the main polls is probably the fact that the majority if we want of the Israeli voters in that make me on Yahoo has heavies Dayton called and be charged with corruption breach of its then that team do that. And let's see what the decision of the court is. But in the meantime, according to the Israeli low lasts long before stepping Netanyahu became prime minister. He's allowed to stay in office until convicted at the last instance of the supreme court just. Oh. He's been accused of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts in exchange for five years as well as cutting Elissa deals with media publishes now what he have to deal with these in Lockley document by this attorney general in Israel on charges of robbery and fraud. He has a there will be Irie. Which is the the is system. The lawyers Donyo will have the option to present the case of the defense to the attorney general, and then he has to make a decision on whether to press charges and exactly what charges had cases befall politicians in which the hearing change the decision of the general. So he denies wrongdoing, but he might have to step down as he fought the charges, but couldn't Yahoo push legislation grinding immunity to a sitting prime minister that's conceivable, isn't it. Oh, no. Netanyahu, according to Israel. You know, does not have to set down. And in fact, before foaming is next government the coalition government. He's going to secure the commitment of all these potential partners that the current low will be respected that means that baby can stay by means there and at the same time face trial. This is the low by the way, this low is exclusively for four prime ministers. It doesn't apply to ministers members of parliament, etc. Kinda victory some site that he's close relationship with President Trump helped. And if you think about Trump's coal for a US embassy in Jerusalem, US recognition of Israel sovereignty in the goal and hearts stash with Syria and the designation just last week of Iran's Islamic revolutionary guard corps as a terror organization to what extent to that. All of that help Netanyahu secure a fifth term. I think it does Netanyahu. That is is. His generally, including many of those who despised and we'd like to see him gone. They only create his qualities as an international statement. And I would like to point out if I may that even more than Trump, it is is close relationship with letting Putin that help begin because he's to today's early that he's in the position to have the air force start consistently against Iranian targets in Syria. And Mr Putin does not do anything to stop it. Although he has the air force. And the defense batteries underground in Syria that is intriguing because baby Netanyahu has also reached out to many of the SUNY Arabs in the Gulf states, and of course agent and clearly that move is primarily motivated by a joint fear of Iran. On. But you're saying that Netanyahu's close relationship with Putin also helps even though Putin is supporting Iran. Yes. But I think that what we see here is a balancing act played by to hidden in which you baby for over three news. Now, he has if you won't air force to go after the Iranians in Syria, hundreds and hundreds of strikes at the same time. He's using the Iranian issue theory. You know, the to the. The reverence there. So this is sort of hippie poop Putin game, which is going on. You've mentioned the relationship that BB has developed the Sunni Arab states, mainly the Gulf mainly Saudi Arabia and the United Emirates DC's for many in Israel. This is. Proof and everything that he's doctrine is working. And he's Dr knees, very simple. He says things the Palestinians are not willing to ever deal with for the foreseeable future. And that's the case this accepted by the majority of these. He says developed now relationship with the rest of the Arbor. So that later on maybe the students in soften their position and become possible. This works with Israeli public opinion. My guess is our hood Yari. He's a Middle East commentator for his Riley television, the more than four decades. And we're talking about baby Netanyahu shelled to be Israel's longest serving later back to Netanyahu. He's Wally believed to be smug and vindictive you account, the he's remarkable ability to overcome setbacks time, and again, I I know. Oh, be for many years. Politically is very very agile, very creative and innovative. He is an master of tricks, including Dietrich's, which are not in the political book of Israeli politics. He is a guy who doesn't have close friends is a guy who doesn't have people whom he really trust. But he's the guy who's trusted by many. So every everybody knows that the he's in a way a tricky BB. But people say who else do we have do we have a real alternative to be the moment the three ex-chief so fan stuff? We've new Bruin white poppy manage to beat these electorate and that they are not obsolete. And this is a good party reason why be one again. Really against all. Yes. And you say he's the master of dirty tricks babies. Also, the master of wrongfooting his opponents, if you think about the opposition live party creek me if I'm wrong, I think I've ruled Israel for most of its first three decades yet lie. I only want about five percent of the vote. How do you account for lives dramatic decline in Israel? Labor was decimated was gradually destroyed by deals local of ninety three they upset to these early public. We can have with the Palestinians. We could make peace late Prime Minister Rabin appeal by everybody and the late Chiba Perez and things early public by now could be that that was the wrong approach. So the labor party's paying the price. And what you have now a needs that even the people those ships are excerpts of stuff ran against to be now. And called a very very fine result. They were very careful not to say that they are left. It's a bed. World news any politics after flow be very careful not to say that they support a Palestinian state any foreseeable future. Your critic your critics Netanya his critics who had died side that Israel is on a trajectory to become an apartheid stidham bit. Lock the foam, South Africa Palestinians will eventually be a majority, but without the raw of citizens. This is Jonathan Freedland in the God. And he says that Netanyahu's re election heralds the further undermining of the rule of law including threats to the occupied Boyce Bank. How would you respond to those concerns? I it's not the first time that I disagree entirely with will ever Mr. three hundred writing, but Israel is not going to move to a next West Bank. And to assume that the only solution that we have inside is a one St. in which the Palestinians, do not be granted, equal rights is simply out of sync with was Israel is that same into that voted be Becky office. You'll have a it eighty five percent majority for two states Aleutian. Of course, once the Palestinians, Alrighty, finally to go for you have a solid eighty eighty five percent majority against on exertion of even parts of the west thing at cetera et cetera et cetera defect that we are not going to have tomorrow. The fact that the may not be Mr.. Now's first priority. Now does not mean that we are down leaper slope of going to watch date. That's something which is not going to happen knowing my country for what it is.

"Yeah. You get your low five which like sounds like it's a good, Mark. But that's not a good. What did you think? Those mark. I know my very very disappointed. Would you say there? But clearly there were some times where I got her. There was this one time we found on YouTube where she. Booze the judges. She gets her score whole crowd is bullying your why would she getting bad marks to begin with? What was the what was the problem? Well, that's the question, and it's kind of complicated. Yeah. Well, I think there's several things John Howard that ESPN writer. She says the first thing you gotta know and click little dive into the weirdo world heating. Let's dive is that there's this fundamental tension in the sport of figure skating between artistry on one side in athleticism on the other powerfulness readiness. They want these people to look like little ballerinas, but leap into these jumps like predators. And at the time skating was sort of locked in this loud and fractious debate about what do we want to be and Syria was sort of the epitome of almost the endpoint. What could happen if somebody with unrivaled athleticism, and no aversion to risk was willing to go after it? And I think there were a lot of people in the skating that didn't want it. I went through it. I know all about it. Now, Tonya Harding. She said that she had this issue. I didn't wanna skate like what they wanted skating to look like Elvis Stojko too. But in Serena's case as a lot of work to be done on the car. There's a lot of work to be done on the grace. All of those words used to criticize her.
