"I don't think they're going to beat out the twins. Of course, you never know when kluber comes back and they have all the pieces together, but, you know, they'll be a lot of speculation about handing even Santana and maybe even Linda or and Bauer and kluber and all the rest, but to me, I think they're gonna wait alternately with those big pieces for the winter and they'd be more likely to buy a not an expensive piece by piece here or there, whether it be an outfielder or some other need. I just it's hard for me to see them selling when they're right in the thick of the race. At least a wild card race. I agree. Big time baseball the podcast. He's John Hayman. I'm Josh Lewin. Alex cora. To'real Avello key. Hernandez, all coming up AL west real quick here. John Houston, incredibly a seven game losing streak. Their first since twenty fifteen. They finally extinguished that on Sunday, the kid you're already seven home runs in his first twelve big league games L to as back Springer should be back soon. Correa and Diaz very close to coming back. They've got a cupcake schedule the next couple of weeks. So the Astros will be okay, right. Yeah. They're going to be just fine. I said all along the team to beat in that league. I think it's going to be used in the dodgers. Now the Yankees have been so impressive. They've had even more injuries as we've documented about thirteen guys to the DL, cluding major stars, and we think Severino will come back in mid July and help them. So, you know, right now, I could see a case to be made that the Enke's are the best team. But you, you put Correa and Springer back in that Houston lineup and combine it with Alvarez who's been fantastic. You know they're they're very tough to beat. And it's a reason that in that. Division, while Oakland always had the big finish and the angel certainly have two of the most exciting players in baseball and trout. No tiny they're in tough spots, right there. You mentioned the angel, and here's trout with an as eleven seventy one and he goes to Saint Louis, and it's like Mike trout who because Albert pool holes was in town, and that was amazing that the love in Parral pool halls kind of orchestrated by by Melina yada. Or Molina was basically to house DJ just told everybody when they could clap him when they when they had to stop. That was a remarkable series. Yeah. I mean it. Saint Louis is a baseball town. They love their baseball players. Some other places when a guy leaves for more money they get kinda mad, but I'm glad to see they haven't forgotten he brought them help bring them to World Series championships three MVP's one there. I, I mean I think he's the only player with three thousand hit six hundred home runs in multiple World Series championships, Abbott bulls all time great. And it's good to see that they remember him. In a positive way, we've seen other big stars go back to the regional team after they've left for more money and get booed. And I thought it was very nice. We've been very American League heavy. So I want to mention this about the National League the dodgers are freaking awesome. The three three long offs from three rookies. I mean really, really incredible. Yeah, they case could be made..

"Sports so your twins. And you were on before anybody else, very. Yeah, they're not the Minnesota Twins anymore. John Hayman twins. And you know fifty five seasons of baseball, John, they'd never had an eight Homer game. They did it twice before Memorial Day year. They're on pace for three hundred thirteen home runs and more than that, though. I'm just so impressed by the pitching burritos was a given. But you got Martine Peres entered the year with a career Yara about four point seven. He's got this cutter now he's been unreal. I just don't see any holes with this team. Looks like at the pace now they'd said a home run record, which is kind of shocking because they really don't have one to slugger who's hit forty home runs a bunch of years, other than Nelson Cruz who really isn't in the middle of that right now. I mean you're getting home runs from everywhere including Polanco's been fantastic Rosario, and the list goes on and on. And I happened to see them for two. It's late and spring and looked at their stats and saw that they were really, really hitting in spring training and looked at that lineup again. They did a nice job, picking up more women Zola's and cruises. I mentioned and as you reference, Martine Peres, they really had a terrific, terrific winter Thad LeVine. We've had on here, GM new Perez and probably figured out that he was going to be better than he had shown in the past, and, you know, they've just done a great job. And we called it last week that they're going to win this division. I don't think there's any question about that. At this point, the White Sox have had. A nice season for what the expectations were the Indians, too many injuries aren't close at this point. I think the twins are just a very, very good team and they can be preparing for the playoffs right now, though. I think they're going to be looking at making some more acquisitions AL west with real quick. John, the as went fifteen and ten in Maeve. They didn't have Chris Davis. Healthy Chapman, has started heating up the Astros or the class of that division though, there banged up right now. They just keep winning game to lose sprayer and to and all the guys that they have lost that have really, really hurt them in Korea. So, you know, it's amazing how they have hung in there. They have a terrific team Houston..

"John Hayman, what's up, John? How you doing? How are you guys doing? Oh man. Philly's got swept. We're doing great. Like last night. Wednesday night. We were doing great. Okay. It's a long season. I heard that one before. But this is this is a football eagle town than we treat the Phillies one hundred and sixty two eagles game sometimes John, it's probably understand. L A's very tough. Team in the NFL by far. So I you know, it's not like they lost got swept by the Marlins or something like that, so that you guys it'll be all right? All right. So let's let's let's get in on on the kaikal and the Kimbrell stuff. Let's start with kaikal. What, what, what have you heard as far as the Phillies and the Phillies, obviously have a need most teams have starting pitching needs? But what are you hearing about the Phillies and the possibility of kaikal? Not a lot to be honest. I've heard sixteen connected to Kyko at this point, you know the Yankees Braves. The raise the brewers the twins and the cardinals, there may be others could be talking to some others. But I think you know they've been talking for months team. So I think they have it pretty well, narrowed down, and I'll be surprised at it's not one of those teams I think Kimbrell is probably more likely for the Phillies right now. He does make sense. They've had a lot of pitching injuries in terms of the bullpen. And so, I think in a least is as spot where a lot of bullpen issues. And I think that Kimball seems more likely right now. I mean I thought I go lefty for the Phillies in a little more depth for the rotation but you could say about a lot of teams and it just seems like other teams of prioritizing, starting pitching more than the Phillies right now. What do you think he will wind up signing for it'd be a multi, dear wanna just be for the rest of this season? You know, I've heard some rumbling that, that they might have some multiyear interest, and it would shock me, but I, I think it's most likely at this point that they signed a one year deal. Reset try to go on that market without the graphic compensation next winter. So I think we're looking at one year in probably something more than the prorated qualifying offer. Say one year in around thirteen to fourteen million. I think he had they have the parade qualifying offer, I would suspect both players have that eleven to twelve million for the sees rest of the season. But I think that considering you get the rest of the season plus the playoffs. You know you get Elektra, so I'm going to say one year, fourteen million is probably a ballpark for both guys too bad. Hey, that's not bad. Listen, a one year deal for kaikal. I'd be worried to two or three year area type deal John but a one year and the Phillies needle left the in that in that starting rotation. No doubt about it. Then. I mean. Moving the kimbrel. Same thing with the one year contract. I mean, here's, here's a question for you. What's going to change between now and next year to where the same thing doesn't happen next year where they have this? They had this idea of what they're worth, but major league baseball saying, we don't believe you're worth that what's going to change between now and then to make their market change. Yeah. Well that compensation is a big deal. You know, they won't have it for all next winter. So right now, they don't have it. They haven't pitched for a while. I'd say he should get back on the mound fairly soon. That's gonna take a little bit of time. I hope it does dick more than a week. But you know, I think they should get back on the mound and the they have a big finish that will determine a lot now. We earn earlier that gyco was more likely to be accepting of a one year deal and reset that kimbrough, but I wouldn't be shocked to both guys, the one year deal reset came back out without the legend tax compensation if they had a big finish and perhaps a big playoffs. I'm sure that it's going to be a playoff at least a contending team that's gonna sign both of them. So you know, they can reset and finish bigger than they did last year. Obviously kimbro was hurt because he was not great in the postseason. He did say for four but he wasn't himself a lot. He was not quite there. But the real issue was the, the control was not there for Kimbrell and, you know, a big reason she bias. And in his case it was the finish that, that really cost him. John, John, as far as, as far as Kimble who else is in who else is in contention for them. I know you mentioned the analyst, I think the I've seen you mentioned the Atlanta Braves. Are there was many people in on kimbrel is there is on on kaikal, and who are they, you know, Kimbrell is a little bit more of a mystery? So I think we have misery teams kimbrel, but the ones that are no, I think are the twins, the raise and the Braves and presumably the Phillies beyond that it's a little bit of a mystery. I think the cubs make sense of the very cognizant of luxury threshold, which I think, is silly because the cuts print money. So you know they have to pay twenty percent on a little bit of money over the two hundred six million. They certainly can't afford it. But it seems like they're making waves. Now that potentially zobrist doesn't get paid while he's on the restricted list what he does. But if he's remains on the restricted list it while they will save some money. Maybe. Have an idea you will remain on that restricted list, Ken Rosenthal. Then it'll be networking, and the F. Lennox suggested the cubs is a possibility and, you know, I think that is a team that would be of interest to any free agent people like to go Chicago and the cubs. So I think we'll, we'll put them in there a little bit in Milwaukee team more connected kaikal now but they were connected to Kimberly earlier. So include them as well. So goes to a half dozen teams for Kimball that are linked to him, when do you expect it the signings to happen? I, I know you mentioned that they're both in throwing they should be able to get back and actually start pitching soon. But I mean is this something where that deadline has happened? Now the teams don't have to give up the draft pick, so the signing should be imminent or could it could drag on a little longer? Well, you know, they've been talking, and with the intensification that the draft pick attachment would go away. That's been gone for weeks at this point. But I still think that at least in Keiko's case, they haven't heard the magic. Number yet, and they're not quite there. I got was quoted by John bull morosi saying it's like a wine, you have to be candid or something like that. I don't I don't I don't know what it was a nice quote. So I think we're looking at today tomorrow or the next day, the graft is going on those days. So probably after the drip, you know, to me, I've heard that both guys are in great shape. They're both pitching. They're both rowing. Well, but, you know, I don't think they should take take it too much further. This is far enough this point, and they need to get back on, on the mount with teams and they need to get going. So I I'll be surprised if it's more than a week. And I don't think it should be more than a week. I guess you never know what Scott Boris though. John. Yeah. I guess we gotta say about David meter to he had one client, and he's still out there. You know, at least in this case you got fifteen guys sign at this point. So he's only had one sixteenth. It was going to still to go, but, you know, I was these two guys who have a lot of courage and have a lot of belief in themselves, and kimbrough's case you know he's gonna call fame track. So it's a big risk. You do this, but he feels the courage of his convictions, obviously, and feel hill aid should get what he deserves. So we shall see, it's going to be interesting to see, but as I said, I kind of think it's going to be one year deal close to fifteen million for both guys, but could possibly be multi wouldn't rule it out? And you believe the Phillies are one of the teams that are in on on kimbrel at this point tally resemble, I would say I mean I could see their offense Geico. But I think we've got to have doesn't teams that are most likely. I've heard that the Yankees and Braves cardinals have been most likely of the six, you know, I, I would say that he wants to go to big market. So if I pick a favorite unkind, I'm gonna say, Yankees embrace, but any of those six would not surprise me? All right. There you have it that sports inside of John Hayman. Check out the new podcast radio dot com and the radio dot com app. It's called big time baseball, John. How's that going so far man? It's going good. Josh behaving themselves. That's good. Guess we get a little information out there. We had some interviews this past week, we had Bobby Valentine talking about his great friend, Bill Buckner, a lot of people didn't realize that, of course they were, but very interesting. And he talked to Billy buck a few days before he died, and that he hoped to meet him on the other side. So it was a very, very interesting interview with Valentine, and that's kind of what would feature trying to good interviews and get some good news in their awesome. I'll check it out. John. Thanks is John Hayman. They go in on kaikal. No camera kimbrel. Yeah. Yes. Especially if he goes to the Braves. My prediction. He does the Phillies are in, but someone's going to be willing to give that second year or more more money, the, the Yankees Yankees kind of make sense. The Braves definitely makes sense. Yeah. I, I mean, he would make sense here and here would make the make sense here. But don't don't you get the idea with the, you know, the Clinton, analytic staff, closer, giving them all that money. He's on the downside. You wanna start or not, but I'm saying for the Phillies, it makes less sense to me than a traditional major league baseball front office that the heavy leaning of on analytics like with the bullpen gave last year was like, oh, we don't even really need to claw, unless they're gonna use cameras a starter. I'm not even doing. They could raise. We could look at it. Like they go into game, one of the NFL D S. And they're gonna use kimbrough's the starter in that game. Ben, let me tell you what I'm telling you, you decide to do that. And it doesn't work. Okay. "Pillar that was pretty dying impressive last night for Nixon's ill, you lose one, and what should have been a home run. You can right back and get your first home run in your MLB career. Look, Scott shetler and madcap had ago. They had a go gentler can't hit well enough to be the fourth outfielder on this team. And it was only on the roster because he was the closest thing they had to a center fielder. Don't need that anymore. Don't need that anymore. Camp was a loss ball, we had it really was from the day that he arrived here from the dodgers. I mean, this guy is a DA waiting to happen. Some American League team is going to sign him. But shetler light camp. We they'll take it bats away from guys that traditionally only get better with more. Bats who are you gonna take it bats away from going to take away from Jesse Winker waker is really hit the ball. Well, all year had some bad luck. What he missed. You hit it on the screws. It just didn't it just didn't fall. You're not gonna take it bats away from sense L. I mean, that'd be ludicrous. And yes, we'll plea is you're right fielder that your corner outfielder. That's the guy with Alex would hurt and only a rumor so far he becomes the centerpiece of that deal. So there's your outfield right there from this day forward regardless of hot streak or slump? It has to be Jesse Winker and left Nixon's Ellen center. Yes, we'll take it. Right. End of story and of story. Now, a story broke overnight. John Hayman, who's a national baseball writer says the reds are ready to bring Josh Van Meter to Cincinnati, Josh Van Meter is a guy who has been tearing it up and AAA the his his numbers and triple A or career numbers so far for his minor league career as of last night three thirty six average thirteen home runs thirty one RBI. Now, we're Van Meter plays. What they do. And who knows but it's obvious that if they bring him up, there's your guy there's your fourth outfielder. There's your fourth outfielder Eric Dietrich needs at bat enough at bats, the reds can figure out whether or not they've stumbled onto the latest scooter Ginette or Dietrich is like just about every other role player in the history of baseball. Someone who starts hot and then plays back to his level right now, you gotta ride the wave and Dietrich needs playing time again, mitigating reasons why Matt Kemp was released and Scott shetler was. Enter aaa. Big last night. Here's another thing. I was watching the gale but a big last night. Kenner, Roark is pitching. And I'm thinking to myself is David bell going to, you know, do it for third time this week. Yankee pitcher who's got maybe eight forty five pitches under his belt..

"Impact. Just like a fumble or deception now it's every single play. Was there patching appearance? They're gonna have to have a team of my five six guys there. If you're to Jack, I would I would have had a team up there doing that. Anyway. Do they probably do? Yeah. I'd want an army of replace because you've got to do it really quickly. You don't have a lot of time. And then you've got to get the message down to the coach. And then the coach ultimately has to decide. Okay. The telling me to review it. They're telling me it was a bad call. But even if you know, it's a bad call you have to look at time and situation say, yeah. But is it worth it? Because what are the issues? I have is that you get to challenges if you get them both, right? You get a third hypothetically, let's say you challenge something and you were right. And you challenge something again. And you're right now, you get an extra challenge. And then you use that. And you're right. You could legitimately be three for three and be done with challenges, which seems unfair you being penalized for the fact that the officials are terrible. Wow. That's true. So I'm a believer that it should be every time. You get it. Right. You get to keep it. You get it. Right. You get to keep it. And if the officials keep getting wrong getting it wrong, and you keep getting a ride you keep having that option. That's not the way it works. So because of that when you're a coach you've got to think long and hard, even if you know from upstairs, the officials got it wrong because you don't know if you're going to need potentially a fourth challenge, even if you get to write and then a third, right? You may need a fourth one. And you don't have that option. More your calls coming up. "Where you were when Ben Livingston broke the news of Bryce Harper signing with the Philadelphia Phillies, everybody marks and reach has. He's a star. Now so excited. Sort of. Yeah. You did. Yeah. Exactly. He I don't know if he fat fingered it or you just get nervous got excited and who broke down last. Thanks pretty soon. You're gonna be labelled a dumb ass. So Jon Heyman broke the news means he was a minute quicker to tweet at than anybody else. Right. So so Ben created a worse. Sorry. John Hayman card because John Hayman much maligned by the Philadelphia fan base ripped cursed. Everything else in Haymond, actually reads, it I would I would never read any of the tweets if if I was John Hayman, do you know, what you're gonna find there. So we created a big card to save. We're sorry. It says on the front we're sorry John Hayman, and then inside of the card has the tweet that says the Phillies gone on my believe. So we're asking people to come down and sign it now. So far like nobody signed it. Right. Nobody right. So if anybody would like to sign the sign the John Hayman card, I mean, we could mail a blank, and that would be even more irony. So that's. Yeah. We'll bring it over to the to the striking out cancer people because we're starting at coming up in about eighteen minutes. Stopdown Pete's it's it's open bar. It's open appetizer bar. It starts at five o'clock five to eight guest. Bartenders you can still get in forty dollars. And that's it. All right. So get down here. Starting starting at five o'clock. I go back to the phones we have Andy mount laurel, New Jersey. Hi, andy. Hey, fellas. Hey, doing always a pleasure. Always a pleasure, man. Hey, listen, you guys. Give me the chills tonight. Reap that record. I came home from work. I guess I sat down set on my lounge chair and her you guys shave almost Chelsea were hot Cup of coffee almost spillover myself. It was unbelievable anyway. When you're least expecting it. I think that's when it's the best right? If it was pretty clear that it was going to happen. We would have just been waiting and we would have been excited, but we went from being most people thought what was it like eighty percent of our of our online poll said they're not getting them to now. He's a Philly for thirteen years. It's crazy. Unbelievable. I walked in the door. My wife follow behind me shut down with the lounge chair. And you guys going crazy. That's all never forget it as long as I live, man. And the thing is I'm getting my knee. I'm getting a whole new replacement. I I'm not happy about this surgery. I'm coming up in April. But let me tell you something guys that news just it's just I don't care about my replaced with now I want to get it over always games, man. That's that's all I can say Phillies hyandi will be sitting down a lot. Believe me. How is sterile Hogan's heroes guys about Harper's heroes? Harper's heroes Ike. Thumbs up or thumbs down to make it into the final round, not really original. But. Nothing wrong. With also have to think how how do you dress up? You have to think about how you dress up as a fan that goes. And does it right, right? You're not gonna wear superman costumer anything like that. Who knows? I don't know what I'm saying. Harper has sort of a superhero is look to him. Like, the workout. He has good looks has the strong hair. You know, he works out. So we have sort of an extra action figures sorta Lewis he does, and he's a slugger. All right. All right. If you make them Harper's heroes, and they all wear like different superhero, costumes, right? You some of the marvel comics, right, right? All right. You want to use the old guys the superman and Batman and. I think I like the up to date you do marvel comic guys. I don't know any of them. I don't know. That's why I'm out right? Thor captain America iron, man. Right. Those guys black path because I think I I'm thinking of Hogan's Hogan's heroes. I'm not thinking about superheroes. Something about Richard Dawson, and right and HOGAN. Yeah. I guess we do know Hogan's heroes. I don't think the young demographic. Who's who's who's the leader? Bob, crane crane. Yeah. Get murdered when he was still like in the height of his career through Hollywood stores. So what is what does this mean for Philadelphia fan actually saw did you? I didn't. I just like to show. What does this mean for for the Philadelphia fan? That's out. There listening listening to us right now. This is how this is what I think it means for me as as a as Philadelphia sports fan. It means that I'm back at the park. It means that although I've been paying heavy attention to the Phillies all along it's more or less just because I'm a I'm a Phillies fan and it's out of habit. And I've nothing else to do. I can't tell you. I was excited to go home and watch games every night last year. Right. But the Phillies are back now. And the fans are back in the fans that haven't been down two games in a long time. This is this brings them back to the park. I yeah. I look at it much. Like, I I look at the Sixers situation when even though the Phillies weren't. Necessarily losing intensively for draft picks the bottom line is you needed them to bottom out get a lot of rules older contracts out. You would have liked it. They had hit on a lot of those young guys that they drafted and even the guys they traded for. But you did get air Nola as a first round pick. He certainly has worked out for you. And now, you you sort of set yourself up to be in a position to be a player in free agency. When the stars we're going to be out there, and we talked about this for the last couple of years, and we've seen this act any other sports and we've seen it come up empty, right? We don't come back with the stars where we're left at the altar yet only to be left for team in LA or Miami or New York or somewhere else. That is in Philadelphia because the player or the athlete doesn't wanna play here in Philadelphia. It's too tough. Well, guess what? Bryce Harper broke through all of that. He broke the mold on all that. And I mean to kick the door down. I mean, seriously, he kicked the door down a thirteen year contract fully guarantee with no doubts. Didn't put a back door and escape clause in there. Yeah, I think the opt out doodoo basically said whatever happens from here on out with my career. It will be in a Phillies uniform the opt-out is to cliff lease contract that taking less money to come here than the Yankees. That's what the opt-out will be for for Bryce Harper's people will that maybe weren't sure about it before that were out of one him. He doesn't wanna come here. Now, we're going to be like he wanted to come here. And he. No doubt. It's incredible. It's all I know is no opt-out. It is incredible hoopla tickets yesterday after they signed or today. Eight eight eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four Brandon and fish down. What's up, Brandon? How long are we? Excellent brandon. How are you? Check this out. So about a few months ago just on a whim by by little package here. I got a couple of bucks. And now I feel like I bought stock and Amazon in like nineteen eighty. Are you? He's excited first time since when Brandon. When did you not hear me? When did you why you kinda faded out there when when's the last time you had tickets? Oh, well, I haven't I haven't bought this is my first time buying a package ever. I bought him few months ago, just on a whim. Why not no now if stock Amazon? That you bought right? Branding. That's the thing. I remember I remember after the after the ninety three Phillies. I went out with my dad, and we got time it's sixteen game package. Right. And you get you you pick whatever package you have. And then you go down, but that was the year after was the strike here. And then the Phillies were bad. And then after that 'cause you're mad at major league baseball and everything else. I wasn't going out there and buying a package. And then when the Phillies were great in the early two thousands into into the early twenty tens. There weren't any packages available that point they were bought up, and I was bad time in the media. So I was just going to games I wasn't buying trying to buy tickets. I would just go. And now is the time to kind of be like, you know, what? Now's a great time to get in on package. It really is. Yeah. I mean, listen. This the Phillies are about. I mean, let's say they are about to take off. And I mean, you got the guy here now really it's about what you do on the field. I mean now that's really what it's about. What you do on the field. What the front office does moving forward. I think John Middleton. It's great when you have an owner who understands the entertainment value of sports as well. Right. And so we were talking about John Middleton and him watching the Phillies play the last couple of years sitting in that ballpark, and he's sitting up there would at times other owners that may come into town, and he's copying them sweets and has to look at half half-built stadium. Most of the night, sometimes even just a third of four stadium. Owners want to look out to their stadium at sea seat spilled see people having a good time. Look at the product down on the field and say, yeah, I got one of the better products in the sport. This is my team. This is my team my stadium. Yes. Owners want to feel that? And so John Middleton. Set out he sought out to make sure he got a headliner and Bryce Harper was always as target. He wanted a head lighter. He got him. He wanted Bryce Harper Tyler and really park. Hi, tyler. How are you? How you doing gentlemen? Excellent. What's up man not much? I just wanted to say I think today goes down as one of not probably the best, but one of the best days after Philadelphia sports. Yes. Well, I think so. Championship. Yeah. Other than the champion should absolutely. But like, I can't tell you. How many times I've been to wa wa you gentlemen, with a affiliate, Bert or. They gave me a hug and. Wow, I don't think I've ever been generous nicer WaWa. Well, you know, it's funny Tyler you'll be number back. "The Gary radnich show. Larry Krueger continues on six eight hundred. We know negro Ken Rosenthal. Or any of these guys? Have the giants have just officially announce the Lawrence. Krueger broke this morning around ten o'clock. Drew Pomeranz is now a San Francisco giant one time all star with the as big smooth, big smooth. Aren't they? Because the nickname big soon. Nickname he smoothie okay smoothie now has we'll be announcing games that involve big smooth. A you gotta rooting interest because you seriously Larry did break this story. And it was picked up by ESPN. Jeff passan and Ken Rosenthal, all these different outlets. So John Hayman. I'm John Hayman man myself. I asked I think he's the best of the insiders. I think I'd go Rosen. So maybe I'm hooked by the bow tie. But by the way on the baseball front. Yeah. The giants got drew Pomeranz could to see they're doing something. I would imagine it's going to be an active six weeks between now and and better training for for in the boys. But dodgers are still talking about trading for JT, rearm, Utah and the dodgers are talking about signing. AJ pollock. So man, L A's just relentless in their desire to keep getting better and better and better. They're talking about signing Pollick. Or maybe trading for Starling Martin and then flipping jock Peterson to a team for probably prospects. And then trying to trade for JT Riem Utah to go with Russell Martin. I mean, that's they're not they're loaded. I told you Vegas hasn't been ninety four and a half wins. They have Rockies finishing in second place. Twelve games back. They don't think they know west is going to be a race. You know, something you mentioned all these guys dodgers, and they still are waiting for a championship. What nineteen Eighty-eight was last one? But with all that said, you know, how we joke about LA. And if I still think if you can go to Los Angeles that's off look at the warriors. This is where the Niners need to get worried because the Rams are going to be a major free agent destination with that killer state of the art NFL campus building that they're building for five billion dollars. Whatever it's going to be the Niners better get a going in this draft and in this free agency because the Rams are are a big bad bully in your division, and they ain't going anywhere. But I was thinking about you know, the lure of Los Angeles. Look in the warriors, for instance, played Saturday, and no not was Friday and Monday, right? They say for five days Thursday Friday, Saturday Sunday, they didn't fly in fly until. That's six and then they flew out today. Today or yesterday? No, I think they flew. Six nights in the hotel, again, even courage jokes joking about his af we'll see how our team holds up after this time in LA. I'm just saying that that's I think it is the entertainment capital, and and you can go about your business because there's so many well known figures there, I mean. LA I like LA Newman over again my wife. And when we I've told you this story, but I play that in the in the in the car when you're driving home, but we love it is a charm out the window. I I don't mean to say this. That was one of my happy dodgers. Care about the dodgers. But when we would live we left live there on weekends. When Krahn would add to keep when Tron was sold back in two thousand and a two and three are that. Oh, we better get something else. Because this thing is not going to survive without NBC. So we lived there on the weekends. You know dodge Jolie was born in Los Angeles. What did that do for you? I liked it. I mean, I really enjoyed. You.

"Or there are kind of these contingencies that can happen. So he's gonna earn forty. Three million over the first three years. And then at that point the Mariners can choose to extend him for sixty six million from twenty twenty two twenty twenty five and if they do that would make the contract a seven-year hundred nine million dollar deal if they don't exercise the four year extension than he can opt to exercise a player option for twenty twenty two that would pay him thirteen million dollars reading this from John hayman's reporting on MLB trade rumors. So it's hard to say exactly what this will end up looking like, but we've seen a trend toward contracts where it's harder to analyze exactly what contract is because we won't find out for years. How long player will actually be there or what he will end up netting from this? So any thoughts on the structure or size of the deal? It's fun. And and we'll we'll talk to Jamila a little bit later and Hilsa user prized that there wasn't some statement that came out saying that some team found something in the Moravian. So there. Before the contract is going to be heavily incentivize or whatever like the contract. And and given all the talk about you shoulder that would have been easy to expect. But now on the one hand the team that won the sweepstakes to sign huge is going to be the team that is least concerned about risk. I guess and the Mariners already traded away so much feature money will now they have a long term commitment, but trying to break it down. There is a very narrow band of outcomes where I think the Mariners wouldn't extend the four extra years if she is really good than the Mariners will presumably say, well, here's four more years and a high salary because you are good inverted. So the Mariners have the upside here is protected from the mayor standpoint because if Kikuchi is great than they get to keep him. If Kikuchi is very bad than they'll get to the end of three years of Mariners. We'll say we'll we're not going to extend you your bed, and then Kikuchi will say, okay. But I'm going to Bill you thirteen million dollars or whatever it is for the fourth year because no player's gonna walk away from that. But there is a narrow band of outcome. I think where Kikuchi is not good enough to get extended the for years, but is good enough to hit free agency. I think he could do better than that thirty million. He would have coming his way for years down the road. So it is it's it's fun to think about there's a good amount of protection for the Mariners. But again, the the big uncertainty here is whether the shoulder is going to hold up to say nothing, I guess the quality of the pitches. But this could end up being I don't know. I have you seen any reporting on how the posting fee for this kind of contract is calculated now because it's unclear to me how exactly this is treated for for the MP's perspective. Yeah. That's a good question because it's a percentage of the contract now. Right. So it's hard Tissot what the contract will end up being. So it's hard to calculate percentage. That is a good question. But I do not know the answer to that question. But yeah, I mean could she is what he's only twenty seven years old and the Mariners. Intend to be good within the first four years of his contract. Let alone the seven that it might end up being. So it makes sense in that way. You don't always have to just sign a player when you are ready to be good again. We know that the Mariners seemed to be targeting what twenty twenty one is kind of what DiPoto has said. So if that's the target cookie if his shoulder holds up would still be productive at that time. So sometimes it makes sense to Byerly when a guy is available, and you know, he's not going to be available later and you need pitching as much as the Mariners do. So I don't think it's inconsistent with the other moves that they've made the they've spent a lot of time starting players who are if not close to the majors like an Eric Swanson or just Sheffield players were already in the major similar, Omar Narvaez or a Malik Smith tomato Santana players who have multiple years of control left, but who aren't necessarily prospects. They're already there in in..

Is every, day so everyone's. Trying to create content and there just isn't enough different content. To go around as well when this team is successful so I think there are a lot of factors to it. Yeah and especially now there are still. Here here's the issue to right is. Because there is still a delicate balance at least to, me of okay you have to tell the story and go with whatever point, of view or angle that you're doing with. It But also. I don't know if we're to. That point of just like hey I think wanna talk. About this let's just. Use gym, shorts for instance if you came out and said I. Actually think he's a great defensive coordinator or not a great defensive coordinator. What is your angle to kind of go and prove that especially in a in a in a, time where other, than using the Super Bowl is an example of it really fell down right I think you, hit on a really important. Point to in with a lot of media now I think baseball's, a, nice example of this in. That this statistics and analysis has gotten to such a level now where I mean you can pretty much with baseball players you. Can you don't need to watch them play to know how. Good, they are at literally look at statistics, and amount of statistics and all that and get at least a general, idea of what that type, of, player is and that takes some of the reporting out of it it takes some of the and all that To cut you off is why it's taken. The adjoining out of baseball in general I think for me because of that. I don't like that I don't like that there's not you know whatever you want to say in listen John hayman's a big stupid idiot. "What this is celebration thursday this is a win win happy happy win win not many teams in queens david a witness it we'll get to that in just a bit and some just beyond alarming numbers that there are no answers for when it comes to the mets but let's start with the yankees john hayman's report last night we'll get the sunny gray and here too but hayman reporting that there is very much a serious offer on the table for many machado from the yankees and there's many as five teams in the mix and of course right now you have to try to separate fact from fiction whatever smokescreen is at the moment but this seems very very very legit and i think the the thought process is there if they got machado and they turned around and traded controllable starter all of a sudden it kinda changes their fortunes a bit moving forward into the changes enhances their fortunes a bit you heard and read the comments if you didn't hear them from aaron boone kind of saying i expect something's going to happen you know something i think he's at significance going to happen you know and listen that's not revolutionary we know that even hal steinbrenner said himself that they need starting pitching so are pitching so you know the kids are going to decide but this is what i was thinking about last night when i was watching that game and watching greg bird had his first ever career grand slam okay so that's back to back nights where he has homers so that is if he starts getting going here that's your lefty bat power right from here that's where you're going to get your lefty power back then you have dede gardner who are going to be your lefty bats who are going to get you on bass who are going to be higher average guys and who are going to be able to be on fire to right now and hicks is the switch hitter right but it's like even adding machado you can have a very balanced lineup here because i know people have been saying to righty heavy too much righty power i don't know i think if greg bird starts smashing and bashing like he has the last two days if this is real he doesn't get injured again and you have the lefties dd gardner andy hicks who could switch it although hicks is better from the right but whatever he can do it and they'll walker if he's going to be a factor is also switch hitter then i don't know i think this lineup looks a little bit more balanced that people were giving a credit for even if you add machado another righty power bat and we just understand we know that cashman plays chess not checkers so we expected to be elaborate move we we don't think is just going to be a move from channel and then you know how you figure out where you fit in what are you doing how are you going to sit down and it would be a great piece he he's been a chip in you know when you think about the the garrett cole and off season hold up with and too hard but now he's elevated his stock to where he can be a centerpiece of a trade for controllable piece so you think about maybe him and clint frazier and you get your started so that's the best of both worlds because manny gets a goal to his natural position third base dvd's right there so you still don't affect the chemistry and everybody understands this is the business end of har has earned a right to be a yankee i mean his future's bright but you gotta do what you gotta do to make the team better in in your first obligation due to the player is to.
