"These stories with the D J V gang. Victoria Keelan is here and we also have John Harper with us from W. M. E l to go through the list. And if we were to spend the amount of time we ought to on covert because it's the number one item this past year, I guess maybe the question Victoria's What do we need to know about this new Covitz train? That is that apparently originated in the UK that has been now it's detective states, Colorado and California. Rod. Oh, yeah, I think the most important thing that we've learned from it a true East from the researchers from the UK they've been very transparent about all of it is that it spreads much, much more easily. But so far, no one has had any evidence or has found any evidence that it's any more deadly. So it's just, you know. Unfortunately, it's just going to spread to more people. And that's where you know the vulnerable people in our society that that's where we we really need to protect them even flume or cold like symptoms his little cause for concern, apparently, but It is something that you know. Unfortunately, the news media is all over this breaking news and here responsibility of scaring people. Um, but this apparently according to what I heard, folks say, Once you get a shot, you know you have to worry about this either any of these because they're all part of the same strain right? The current vaccines will be effective against this new strain to exactly All right. So in terms of the stimulus put, I guess the economy number four and the stimulus checks again as we enter into the last phase of the year, 2020 There's something going on has been pretty typical of the entire year. There's no realistic path or agreement between the Republicans and the Democrats. They sound like a bunch of Children playing in a sandbox. Frankly, it really ticks me off. I'm sick of it. I'm disgusted by the lack of spirit that they show toward our country. Instead, it's all about them. It's all about Pelosi in our ego and Mitch McConnell and old fart. And his. You know whether whether that's a appropriating all this. His bank account he acts like like the nation's. His money is that it is exactly so I think people are swearing off for getting tired. Bitch on do you know so under the circumstances? What will change, though I think part of the review of the year is thinking ahead to what we want What we hope will change. So I'd ask you both of you to reflect on that. What is there about this list that you'd like to see changed for next year? Other than the obvious the first two probably will not be a part. Well, maybe covert will be a part of the year in review. Good God. Hopefully it won't be number one. But the presidential election I think we pretty much finished. That right is that even though there's a challenge is the year ends to what you know, Some people say it is a fraudulent election. It still doesn't seem I think even the Republican leadership is saying to their members come on, let's get on board. Let's move ahead. Let's That was pretty surprising this week that Mitch McConnell has been directing behind the scenes. He's been directing Republicans to just move forward and accept that Trump lost and so you know, it's there. If you hang, you know a few people that were staying standing their ground and saying no, this is still fraudulent Election. I don't know. What do they fade into the background? I guess we'll have to just wait and see how much of that do you hear in Florida? John? How much crowd Because Florida is a trump state. So what are people is there? I was past a guy last night, driving around up in New Hampshire who was in a pickup truck and he had big trump flags on both sides. And I thought, how ridiculous Yeah, well, it is. And here here in Florida dug the Trump train. Seems Tolo be derailed now, and the interest is not there as it was just a couple of weeks ago, So it's a starting to diminish and I suspect as the weeks and months go on. It will become less and less of a factor here in our state of Florida. "1st of October. Review of the hot hits this week with me is John Harper interviewing me? L on the space coast in Florida and frequent visitor here on this program. Victoria Keelan who was with me every day on the D. J V program is here. I'm Doug Stephan. The number five story. Focus on the economy, the state of business. The stimulus package, which seems to have gone through the house at 2.2, trillion Three old the old warrior was going to call me is actually an old fossil. Mitch McConnell says. No, not going anyway. We're going to fix it. Too many things wrong. I don't know what that means. Well, he said, it's not even they're not even going to consider it. Which is no. Isn't that swell? Don't do them a lot of good at the box office. At the box office at the voting booth or the box. Theatrical right? It does. Victoria So I mean, where is it when you When you think about the debate this past week, and the focus, at least in part of getting away from the nonsense on the economy, where it is and I'm saying, you know the and it's hard to argue with some of the things the points that he makes about the economy and how it's doing. It isn't the thing that is not brought out. The economy is humming along. But it's not sort of equalized the benefits that could accrue for everybody at all stages. If you will of economic reality don't seem to be there. And one wonders whether that's well, is that right? Absolutely right again, and businesses opening or closing right here in my backyard here in Florida, Central Florida, Just 35 minutes from where I sit is Disney world and they've just laid off over 2500 employees there. Things were not getting any better there and they're having to go through dramatic changes. And dramatic hours of operation and things like that. It's it's this opening business opening is not really getting that much better. It's a dicey situation at best. I always say Victoria Well in in Florida. Yeah, we When we look at the numbers, the rate of infection with with Covic, you know Florida is parts of Florida or up a 3.85%. Miami Dade County is it's over 6% infection rate. It's you just that's not sustainable unless everyone is just going to deal with the fact that they're all going to get it. I don't know it. It's just it's it's a Florida is the largest and first state to do a 100% reopening. So much so that I mean, John, correct me if I read this wrong, I read that the governor to Santis, actually for bed. Anyone to have less than 50% capacity at restaurants and clubs and bars, right? And and Victorian. Doug, when you when you kind of Feel the cover back on that disk. Santis the governor really is a puppet of Donald Trump and Trump going back to spring break earlier this year, one of the state to be open wanted everything to be business as usual, and that's when things were really starting to heat up. But yes, Santas. Who I think is looking at Trump to be his ticket. Tio run for president that sometime in the future, which is a kind of a joke, but nonetheless descent ISS once they open up everything and threw everything to the wind as faras. What what can happen with the virus? For the sake of having businesses open right. That's how it feels, and you're living there. So you're living it, but certainly reading it from New Jersey, where I am And then our governor has been very conservative about reopening things. And in New York also the same thing with Governor Cuomo. There it just it does feel like it's Ah, you know, Devil may care kind of attitude from you. It's too bad because that Florida has a lot of retirees. They have a lot of people who are in the you know, in that high risk category for contracting Cove it and how they'll react to it. It just it feels like I don't know. Where did we lose our humanity? Where did we stop caring about our citizens and our our? Our humans? Just it feels I don't know. It just it really rubs me the wrong way for sure. Well, they roll down the old timers roll into Florida and then they roll out in the casket so that they may be part of it not motivated by anything progressive. So the economy and health care together number four, never find her before focus on health care. I noticed that on and I put the two together here because of what's happening at Amazon. The largest Wal Mart in Amazon are the largest employers in America in terms of single cos Amazon says 20,000. Workers have cove it? Yeah, I think I finally came forward with that, and I and I suspect the numbers a lot higher. Amazon has been under they've been under a lot of pressure from people. To come forward and really admit, Okay, how are the workers? The workers have been on strike. We know that they've had pop ups of strikes here, and they're Amazon is pretty much squashed them. They've steam rolled right over anyone who tries to be a whistle blower. But now I think that there's just too much of a spotlight and they had to admit And like I said, I don't believe that it's 20,000. I believe it's a lot more than that. Well, in terms of before we leave number five, the business situation and how many of the smaller companies I have a little small business, John, you have a small business. We are interested in knowing what it is. That is going to help. Keep us going here. Now you look at the attention being paid to banks, The big conglomerates, the entertainment conglomerates, the airlines had sort of stuff. They have announced this past week. Major job cuts so that the even though I think that the during the debate the figure of 8% unemployment came up that maybe now. But when the stimulus runs out, you watch those numbers go up and at the box office. If there's that, you know, I understand the Republicans for their own benefit. And that's what these people all work on this stuff enough of Bennett of the public but for their own benefit there if they're smart enough to see how that's going to affect people that the Malabar if all these people are out of work between now and November, the third The book is just I don't see any way that Trump or even the Republicans have Ah, way of to win. The economy is always hard drives people If you're out of work. Are you going to vote for these guys who killed the stimulus package to keep you? In groceries. I don't think so. It would be though I had me looking frankly line so you're right. What? Go ahead. I just said Yeah. You're absolutely right. Why would you vote for someone who created this disaster for you and your family in the first place? Okay, Number three is basically all the numbers with regard to cove. It may be the number one into numbers. Here are the president and his wife. Getting it And who knows who else is going to get it? You wonder about whether he had it on the night of the debate. Hey, didn't touch it's likely he did all right. Right. It's you know, if if he tested positive a few days later, they say, I think that they've still stuck with the five day incubation period. But it would stand to reason that yes, he probably did have it during the debate. Well thinking about all the makeup he had were all kind of get a kick out of how much Mantan or whatever that orange stuff is, he puts on his face That may have been he. Maybe he didn't feel well then. And they decided you're a little more to think about that. That's actually Yeah. I thought Joe could have used a little bit of bronzer. He needed to look look a little less pale..

"Again we appreciate your time as always gentlemen look forward to having you here in dc next week georgia atallah nfl players sociation assistant executive director yeah it's a tough spot you know he's doing it from the standpoint of we represent all of our players and we do it the same way and i don't want to speculate i'm would i'm just curious if the nf he thinks the nfl would sit down with shawn mccoy take him off the field during this process and i think the answer is yes i think we've seen this before let me just put you on a commissioner's exempt list that we didn't even know existed just to get you off the football field to you know let's take the headlines and try to suppress them or bury them a little bit so not exactly a fair question for me to ask george but i was curious from the players association how you this because they're fighting from the shawn mccoy and his rights but then they're also you have to know who you're fighting and what they're logic would be because they don't have to wait for the police report with this with shawn mccoy but that's something that's going to drag into the season i don't think anything going to be rectified anytime soon with this he's just hired a lawyer representing i'd find a lower coming up ray allen will join us get his thoughts on the bra i'm going to the lakers or the warriors bad for basketball also we got chance play golf with aaron rodgers yesterday you'll talk to ray ray about that and jerry west has some comments about the lakers signing lebron james coming up move over youtube the collider network is now on podcast one get your fix for any of your pop culture needs with shows like collider factory and movie trivia schmo down download and subscribe on.

"To try to force players to stand we certainly don't take that perspective we want players to have the opportunity to express themselves and feel supported and the nfl more more is becoming a game where players are front and center and that's a good thing for for the growth of the game and for fans if you were going to write it up if you said hey i'm going to get all the players together and this is what the players want to do how do you think they would vote with what we what we do with the anthem that's up to them to decide i mean our job in the in the union office is to ensure that their rights are protected but what do you think george if you said if you put it to a consensus have you done a poll with the players on what they would want to do we we haven't but we know that most of the players were fine with there not being a rule to begin with you know we had a number of players obviously demonstrating we're we've gotten unfortunately far away from the reasons why those players were demonstrating and i think you've seen a tremendous amount of progress made in terms of the awareness that players have raised about racial inequality about social justice about you know criminal justice reform all of those things have been able to have progress made on them because a certain group of players made a decision to ups at the apple cart sort of speak and i think that is something that we have to get back and focus on i can tell you this off season we've had you know our our association has supported about one hundred and fifty two player camps thirty of which had voter registration drives at them so a lot of the conversation is about you know what's going to happen with the rule or rule change or whatever but where the players i think feel most strongly about is the work that they're putting in on a daily basis to try to improve their communities we're talking to georgia tala he works with the nfl players setien switching topics la shawn mccoy if we were in the regular season with what the information is come out now as opposed to the off season what do you think the playing status would be with shawn mccoy with the nfl it's it's disappointing to hear any type of of news like that you never want to hear about that and you know at any point in the calendar i think we're still in a posture of wait and see as more facts revealed we don't like to jump to conclusions or even you know posit what may or may not happen with leshan or any other you know headline that you might hear about that's negative in the off season we've been in touch with the league on it we've been in touch with leshan and let's let's wait and see before we we you know unfortunately we can't be in a position to speculate so we're just going to wait for more facts that come just speculating like what would the nfl do because they you know they don't have to wait for all the information here so i'm just they like to sit people who knew there was a commissioner's list here georgia so that that's why i'm i'm curious if the nfl given the information they have there's enough there that they would just take him off the football field i think for for us you know our union is always going to be in a position to wait and see what happens with all the facts the league i think they're going to have to you know answer to that question i think you guys clearly you know can talk about what may or may not happen we don't have that luxury i can just be as candid with you as possible we're still a couple of days into the revelations about the incidents that took place and you know we're we are in the offseason camps opened up obviously soon so i think this thing's going to you know get into faster motion here's as the bills head into training camp it's probably going to drag into the season as well a george great to talk to you.

"Key with tim tebow is you bring him up in september like i don't wanna bring him up now because i'd like to have a smaller sample size with him i'd like to reward him for everything he's done because everywhere he goes in the minor leagues he's holding a press conference i mean imagine that aa baseball tim tebow comes to town and the media shows up i know you're saying well you know it shouldn't be a spectacle well part of tim tebow there is a spectacle about him you know that's that's part of the polarization of tim tebow but if i'm bringing him in bring him in september when i expand the rosters and i just don't want him laboring in early august and i don't want him embarrassing himself and that would be the one thing i would hope the mets would guard against because i saw him face max scherzer and i probably had as good a chance as tim tebow did that day in spring training yampa if i told you four or five years ago tim tebow would be pa probably playing for the mets it'd be an all star in johnny menzel would be playing in the cfl by told you that five years ago menzel was heisman winner on the cover of time magazine first round draft pick probably around the same draft pick as tibo in the twenty s yeah tibo had won a playoff game as a quarterback and was white hot even though he was unconventional quarterback mendoza better quarterback but tibo was a great teammate and did everything you ask and there was tibo time and all of that stuff so i i understand that and i don't know of manzullo ever gets back i mean he's not even playing in the fell missilies playing so well in front of him but if you said five years ago you know one of these guys is going to be an all star now of course we say all pro in the nfl but if i said you know he's he's going to be on an all star team you wouldn't have said tim tebow you're right yes mclovin yeah i i love anything at all started out that's his great tim tebow at all star get your game on go play yes paul i t boz career stance here by the way with the nfl he was eight and six as a starter seventeen touchdowns and nine picks it's not awful now he's only a forty eight percent that's really bad really bad it it's hard to throw under fifty percent in the nfl like if you don't if you don't throw over sixty you've had a bad year how many courts starting quarterbacks through for us than sixty percent i think andrew luck in cam newton are like star quarterbacks who don't have good percentages and i don't know what the new analytics if that matters mclovin you might know better than i do newton his career fifty eight percent pano i think it does i mean but sam bradford remember he likes sort of shattered the record book and did nobody cared be all passes are different whether all three yards yeah exactly so i remember you were talking about that you know like i don't think it's really that effective while they were trying to make cam the offense more like the patriots where he wasn't throwing home run balls because i got a factor that in his well with your completion percentage yes bone andrew luck is a career fifty nine percent passer all right there's a stack called yards per tempt that safer metric heat slow yeah like a lot but doesn't brady have a high yards per attempt probably but you would think the way he sort of you know distributes that everything is like three yards five yards seven yards nine yards yeah you would think aaron rodgers should be higher but you can feel that we'll check that i'm curious yeah see if you can do that for me by the way dan patrick show brought to you by calloway jailbreak technology setting a new born bowl speed the new rogue driver is taking jailbreak distance and making it even more forgiving go rogue with callaway available callaway golf dot com we'll come back somebody from.

"College before he got fulltime pitching loose slim delivery i think he can pitch well into his mid thirties and he just turned thirty syndergaards younger but i would look to trade him because i think you could get a hall for him in terms of prospects and that's what they need if they're going to reset this thing and and put this thing back in order in the next couple of years i love to gram he's he's another one of those guys that when i tune into watch and he's on the mound like all stay because i just i love i love is approaches like sherzer these guys who just get up there and bring it and you know it's not fancy it's just they're they're bringing it and i'd hate to see them trade him but every game it feels like he pitches great and there's no offense of support there for him at all yeah i know i was here last night eight scoreless innings he was great again against the phillies and you just i mean the mets offense disaster the put the lineup they're putting out there is is an abomination they got a kid hitting three ninety three and vegas and aaa this kid mcneil might be kind of a late bloomer he's not even a kid he's twenty six and yet they continue to play jose ramos now with frazier on the l at their base rate sitting one sixty eight for the season it's it's too bad because to grow deserves better he should have twelve thirteen wins at this point he's five and four which i kinda wrote about it really raises an interesting question about just how you know orders obviously have look at it differently now wins don't count for nearly as much guy with the lowest total win ever to win the cy young with felix hernandez it was two thousand ten with thirteen wins how low voters come i mean nine wins would they go for nine wins if he's got the best numbers i insurance probably gonna be right there with him so it's really gonna be interesting to see this kind of would be if like the recordsetting type of vote yeah but i'd have to look at the other candidates john if i look back to felix hernandez who was the other candidate and how many wins did did he have was the second on the list that somebody even have twenty wins eighteen wins back then yeah i i haven't looked at up recently i think i'm obviously some people had more wins but that was kind of the air right that was kind of turning turning point where voters are starting to look at the other numbers and realized you know wins really are so dependent on run support and in the grounds case running support and a both bullpen that you do i mean i think wins should still be considered especially for two guys that are close with all the other numbers insurers i think you've got eleven wins now he's probably gonna end up with more wins but if the if all the other numbers into grams favor you know that's gonna be really interesting talking to john harper new york daily news columnists manny machado i i find it interesting with the yankees who do have a great prospect at third you got dd short and they might be in the running or headlining everybody for many machado what do you think the the odds are in these sweepstakes yeah i just i i did it calms posting the odds and i had the dodgers brewers and diamondbacks is lower or better odds of getting but it does sound like the yankees i thought this was catchment kinda doing his usual thing he always in on the big guys just in case like stanton in the case of stanton stan kind of fell in their lap they didn't have to give up hardly anything this is different because i think they're gonna have to give up something significant and you know they love this kid and do our they'd probably have to they're gonna i mean i if they get machado they're going to have him play third base shortstop even if that's not what he wants i just it it doesn't make a lot of tests because they really need a pitcher i know there's not a great put your out there i mean you know not counting grover syndergaard they're not getting him j j hats you know cole hamels those kind of guys so maybe they i've heard that you know cashman thanks maybe they buy addie machado defense and offense.

"Owens going into the hall of fame and i said a should've gone in last year in my opinion i don't know what the difference was last year to this year and then the writers maybe they wanna punish you they did that to michael irvin hey we're not gonna put you in first ballot will put you in you know a year later two years later terrel owens has the numbers we know sort of the backdrop here of what kind of teammate he was or he wasn't but he does have the numbers here and you're supposed to be judged by what you do on the football field well i think if you're a bad teammate that sort of still encompasses being on the football field but i think terrel owens is a rightful hall of famer but he's not gonna go there he's not going to be there in canton the induction ceremony is august fourth now here's what's interesting he's not going to be introduced when they have the gold jacket ceremony on friday night in canton ohio he will not be announced the following night at the induction ceremony this is according to the hall of fame the hall of fame says we're going to focus on those who are there they said that they are determined the terrel owens will not spoil or overshadow the party because he did talk about having a party but they wanna make sure that hey these guys have went jerry kramer's waited forty five years green bay packers offensive guard owens will get his goal jacket it'll be mailed to him the first thing saturday morning of the induction ceremony his name that evening will not be mentioned with the others and it won't be recognized twenty four hours later when the individuals are introduced saturday at the nationally televised introduction now he'd shows this but boy the nfl reacted the nfl's the hall of fame says there's no reason to bring him up as an individual he's not here what if somebody got in posthumously who's not there now obviously that's not a choice there bobby beth 'red the gm who's going into so hall of famer is is going to do a video i think that he is the early stages of dementia so he's not going to give a speech there also there is a concern that you know trying to keep the speakers to fifteen minutes is the maximum by the way a year ago kurt warner went over thirty bread fabri went thirty six minutes drome beddis tim brown thirty minutes now some of the speeches are interesting and memorable but i have to believe that if you can't get it done in fifteen minutes then maybe somebody else should be the person who is inducting you and says all those nice things or maybe have it's scripted so they can look at it go how long is this going to be but they did have some research the hall of fame now you've got ray lewis this year so you know ray ray is going to start preaching over under seventy five for ray if not higher they'll the pro football hall of fame went to the networks to ask about you know what are the ratings in what happens during these speeches highest ratings at the end of the show believe it or not so going to be an interesting hall of fame induction ceremony coming up first week in august in canton but they're making sure tarallo ins is gone in forgotten apple has anyone heard of real specific explanation from owens about wise not going he's been vague about it like they didn't want me there i wasn't out wanted in the past and i think that he's probably feels he feels slighted that he had to wait a year but a couple years isn't it actions like these that make us focus on not his great playability because he was great no one can say wasn't a great football player but now he's not known for being a great football player that's not the first a line of his vile yeah but now's not the time to try to figure out terrel owens we haven't been able to figure out for twenty years so why start now i mean it it i understand that he's bothered by it but then he's always been selfish that it's about him so he's he made all of this about him and it should be about the hall of fame enjoying you know the fruits of his labor and going in with those candidates and not taking jerry kramer who wrote one.

"Amazing john harper with us from the new york daily news thirty two names that you tell me who you think is the bigger concern for the rest of the season for the yankees john carlos stanton who still in a rut or is it sunny gray who despite his mechanic change make the changer's mechanics didn't look very good on friday boozer bigger worry for you good he can be used to talented not to get through this but i think he's pressuring put pressure on so i think i'd be more worried about gray you know he's a guy who he's he's he's not a big guy had injury problems and he he might be having issues in in terms of trying to deal with pressure maybe not just new york but the pressure of play for a contender i know he got through the playoffs with the ace but it's a lot of expected of him coming in that trade yankees gave up a lot in terms of prospects and you see that he's got good stuff but he just he doesn't seem to be willing to challenge hitters as much nikki's one or to and then after the game the other night with straight i mean he's not a talkative guy but you almost looked like a deer in the headlights type of thing so you really wonder what's going on with him and i think it's more of a concern mainly because at least partly because yankees i think they they need to the starting pitching more than they need they can survive even with a mediocre year from stanton but they're going to need better starting pitching if they're gonna catch the red sox win the a l e there's no doubt boston at seventeen and four and that's with two losses in a row and this weekend john the one thing about the yankees over the last year that i don't think enough criticism because i think everyone was caught up at how good they were at the end of last season and how good they were projected to be but it seems like at least this is my perspective on it they didn't push hard enough and they didn't want.
