"Jack readers fence this team whereas offense this team while let's look plays the commencement squad has been at the club only really been you look at dias on you. Look at edison over the zone. I don't think there's been to many places that have been in the starting eleven twenty five thirty games in a row. They will slowly but surely integrate because guardiola's as specific style of play. And i think the the place have to adopt is unique in the way that he plays the methods that he has so any play to the club. They have to learn the ropes. First and then they grow from strength to strength from from that but i have no doubt that greenish in two years from now will be a completely different jack than what we've got now. I remember speaking dane smith When when jack greenish was avila when they're in the championship on tv now injured. For a while. And i remember speaking that news. Actually before we played against local rivals birmingham say and creations coming back from injury and smith given in the cops sense and i said dean smith at the time you know it have you given. I've given him the cops and state because you want into remained at the club because his bench benches from premier league teams. He's like no. I've given him the cut since because he is a lead is a lead on the pitch and a leader in the dressing room. I'm then the following game. That i did was booming. Verse is in its without fun. Run onto the pitch and smarts in and smacked him. Yes right and most players would have been really shaped from now. He grew from that and he got the winner. Now in the second half. And that's hold. That showed me a lot about john greeley so when we talk about job greece we talk about the ability that he's got we talk about. You know how good he is on. The bali sister makes the goals that you skulls. Wa- is very rarely taught rally talking about is his leadership skills because nobody defines him as lead bought when you when you get to the nuts and bolts of it and you got to get speech manager. That's managing him. And you see a different side of that is going to be some to know while of satan's consideration as well and i just think the like may be proven wrong but i think owned admitting is gonna sing is going to treat and a couple of years just because of the play that john greeley the amount of room i think. Yes for growth on the coach. He's working under as well. Danny just a couple more for For you here. Yeah so generous with your time Harry kane. I've gone back and forth on this so many times is he right is he. Wrong is levy. Right is levy wrong tottenham should sell. They shouldn't help me. Where do you do you stand with this situation. Who's right who's wrong. What should they do. I need guidance. Here i go back to the two thousand and eight thousand one when he signed a six year contracts. I think it was. I think it was from two thousand eight thank was he signed a new six year contract so he's contradicts a settlement the for another three years straight away that that makes it very difficult to move. I think we're in a unique period. A football to the moment why role. The narrowly plays got three years. Left on his contracts goes down to two years. A significant chunk called fish. Trump's spoke they will have been reduced. I don't think that's going to be the case with hurricane. I think that we're now looking at a point Probably quickly it could potentially fold him. I think we fast forward a year. Those those clubs are still going to be able to afford him financially. Football is gonna be in a better position. So i think we're in a unique position. Hurricane with three is less than his contract is gonna be worth the same with two left charts because of what's going on in the world at the moment so i think that's something that goes against hurricane. I think the fox the when they signed. Then you come shot what. They should have done Which i think is something that the really come hot was have a a cell was how they buyout close in now. Then there's no arguments. I think we'll also makes them difficult for hurricanes for move. Is the jug. Rita should just moved for hundred million pounds. And jack realize is. On the periphery of the england. Same hasn't been the top goalscorer on numerous occasions in the premier league and isn't assembled forward so fueled tanya levy. You'll look many you'll think south. Okay john jillian hurricanes. A hundred and fifty six million. Because you know what you again straight away with. Hurricane is in terms of Arguably being won't if not the togo's during the premier league air yes so that makes it makes difficult as well so i don't think unfortunately hurricane i don't think he holds many costs. I really don't. I can see why manchester see because he is an all round senate floor. People talk about much of it myself in particular plane with a folsom benign. He is functional benign. He can his number. Ten position creates space behind. It can be the focal point for it. Same as well whenever it's needed but i just don't seem leave in solomon and i think he's gonna have to gaze had down which i'm sure we will do but i don't think i don't think they went about it. The right way isn't in all while they've done in the last few weeks. I don't think they've helped the calls last one for me Donnie It's been a. It's been an an interesting week for for looking back and there's a lotta tributes paid to this man for my money. The best midfielder of the primarily era turned fifty on tuesday. And he is your former teammate. Former captain america's united and he bought he brought you to sunderland. Am i right in saying did yes roy morris keen Go on a legend genius. Gobert for straight onto the because the So people were doing tributes to him and quite rightly so you know his for his fiftieth birthday things. I've ambition that he's done in the game and an extract was taken was taken from a book. I did A while ago and it was taken it was taken by. The athletic guy said no problem at all absolutely find so they did it and they put it all in that which was brilliant but then all the all the companies then just talk little bits that they want us to take and they missed the top off and they missed the bond bell so obviously defensive line thing that's been going around to the moment. Is the team told that he did before a game. You know your this and your thoughts are just enjoy being this and not what they didn't pull was the top bit said for me was an absolute inspiration. Being being from from the from the very start i used to clean boots and he used to give me his his old high type boots to him giving him giving me his old diadora boots from making my full league debut for united all trusted with him as my accountant so that it was missed missed and then the the end going. Sorry really shame. I saw that basically roy keane at at halftime in. Sunday's game where you were. I can't remember was it before the game. It was before the game. Yeah yeah so. He basically said we're in a bit of a raw and he basically said lads your rubbish i. He used stronger language than that. You'll keep being rubbish book. Go out and enjoy yourselves or something like that. That's what that's what you are and it was unfair though because you you did i read the athletic piece you did. You did. Praise them fulsomely. "Room on the second part of my question is where exactly is he gonna play for magister city. I think the first question question is is obviously a very valid point in of breaking the mold and and stepping hundred million mile. What i would still suggest as it. Yes jot greenish starkville under the huge clamor for him. Excuse me to play for england. I don't even think he's at sixty percent of his potential on us. I honestly don't i don't dots. What i think yes. It's a hundred million people. People will be saying well. You don't go and spend a hundred million on potential first of all you all you. You'll you'll the price is prepared to pay by the time. Guardia is finished. With jack jack relish. I think we're going to one hundred million pounds ago. I was a drop in the ocean on. I always say in football teams. It's crazy but it's the way the world is why we are and and obviously you know i know that the pandemic has slowed things down for certain same's bolt i think he's potentially my sister and i think the yes. They've spent all of this money. But i don't think jealous anywhere near as true potential. Yeah so we've gotta remember sorry. Sorry just across you so you don't think like my worry is that he's going to be subsumed into this city system and he's going to become another part or a coggin assists and that the individuality is going to be sucked out of him. You you see at the opposite. I the opposite. Because i go examples and i go off the broiler. His is a great. He's injuries abuse played in multiple positions. I'll give you the best midfielder in the world at the moment you look. You look players. That are improving all the time. You look one. There's no way that any of the three of those would would have said that he would have been mentioned as talk google scholar. I look at ryan sterling. Okay you know. A few people have said that you know we had a little bit quiet time. But there's no doubt in the that his ability as common as well mall resumes. Well i think his ability. I think he's among. I look at this just to sit team and i don't think i can't i can't name. Many play is already plays. Haven't improved under the coaching of audio la. You know. there's the argument of people say about about mendez. Mendez really struggled with injuries. But if i look at every of the playa from boxer from every single position plays of improved on what people tend to forget. Is the the question that you happiness at the moment. "For sending me a thoughtful message As I was speaking to the first lady Marty Kemp. Her advice for cut flowers, she says. Boil your water first kills the bacteria that's in the water and then cool it. Of course, before you put it into the base. She has tried that with both the little flower packets of food and without, but Beverly says it works very well in flowers last much longer, So thank you for that. Thank you very much for that. Beverly. You, Khun find us on the Facebook page as well. Just search green and growing WSB. And there we are. Now, if I can get to the right screen here that I'm trying to get Teo I am bringing on a special guest to many of you have heard on the show before Clinton Waltz from the University of Georgia, the extension office and The campus down in Griffin, How are you this morning, Clint? I'm doing well, actually really good to have you back. Thank you so much for coming on, and we're gonna share some knowledge with folks and answer their questions about turf grasses and lawn care, maintenance and all of that kind of thing and tell us a little bit about your background with all of that, and how you get into the sciences of soils and all of that. Okay, um, which started off really is a teenager mowing lawns and making money. I enjoy being outside and I come from agriculture background of my family were farmers and dad was mag teacher and and both sides. My family on my mom's side as well as the bad side was in agriculture, so I guess, some others when saying the blood, it's in the blood, but I started making money and doing stuff on the lawn and Around neighbourhood and kind of like that aspect of it, so I didn't know it was the green industry at the time. I didn't know it was professional lawn care could be so lucrative at the time, but, uh, did some of that. And while and ah Working a sod farm for one summer and summer internships doing work on the golf course. So I got to be around tough, Uh, good little bit and really enjoyed the science classes when I was a Clemson, So, um, you know, it's a go tigers day for me today. It is your color. I don't think we're playing each other this season. No chance with the interconference games, So we're okay. Well, not till you get to the postseason. Maybe. Okay. All right. That's conversation for you love it, but But I've always enjoyed the science and grass has been something of that Turk crash just How it's used. Ah, ah home landscapes and, um, professional situations where there's ball fields or golf courses were worked in just the intricacies. And then the people the people early on were the ones that it's a great industry out there. The green Industries got fantastic people that really care about what they're doing, whether stuff we're superintendent, sports field managers, a commercial long care folks and that it's just excellent people great industry. And they're trying to provide a service to Teo. Whoever their clientele is professional athletes, eight year olds running around playing soccer or average homes. It's it's a great place to work in great people to work with. It affects all of us. Whether it's leisure recreation, you know, a professional like you said golf courses and businesses and things like that. This You know, turfgrass. I mean that area spans far and wide, and with the college of agriculture and environmental sciences there, down in Griffin, that's kind of a research hug, right? That's a lot of what you all work on. Absolutely no. Ah, we've got turf is actually all three of our campus is so Athens, Griffin and Tifton. But the majority of our turf faculty are here in Griffin and we have Ah, excellent research facility and great New building, say new. We've been about three years that our industry went to the Legislature a few years back and said that we need to make sure our facilities matched the quality of work that we project around the world. University of Georgia's turf program. Has a long history of of producing grasses that are used all around the world, literally all around tough Bermuda, right that comes right from the University of Georgia. It does that comes off of artistic campus down there, but in and that certainly are doing and that's the one that has gotten well documented Water conservation properties about it, so it uses less water. Even former photographs, which is Very water conserving species on itself. But tipped off goes even beyond that now breeders in our scientists and had a little part in that, through the years of developing that that culture Laura's well Of Getting that out there in such that we can get a quality grass out to Ah, um homeowners and sports field managers and off courses and that type of thing and actually wound up having a positive impact and reducing Ah. Of amount of water is being used for growing grass. Yeah, that's something we have to think about it. It's as good stewards of the planet as well as using less resource is right and being a little more efficient in the landscape, and I wanted to talk to you about that, Teo. I listen to a podcast recently with John Greeley, who's kind of known as the grass guru. And his take on the use of ornamental grasses and how you know that's just really now becoming more and more common. We like our lawns and our turf. Grass is so there's a chance to use ornamental grasses, and but he talked about grass ecology, and I really had never thought of that phrase before. But just how to be more environmentally conscious about our lawns, Right? And how If we use ornamental grasses, it would take a lot less resource is but to try to keep up that lawn. You using water, you're using pesticides using her. Besides, I mean, that could You strain on the environment of not done the right way, right? You can be and But you know that the difference between some of those is the ornament. Grasses are places you could be used in place of in conjunction with Woody Ornamentals. You're not going able Tomoe those down. It's a anywhere from each toe. Three or four inches kind of thing and have a long long with him. So the ability on ornamental grasses to go out and let the Children play in the yard are place for for fluffy and Fido to go out and do what they do that kind of limited on the things and Absolutely the stewardship of trying to have grasses that in developing grasses that we use less water or or more competitive against weeds that you don't have to ply her. Besides, or have a I guess I'll throw out a rather scientific word host plant resistance. Okay, What That means is built in genetically that it doesn't get sick. Who doesn't get the diseases and genetically it's predisposed not to be subject to some of the diseases so you don't have to plaster on two sides. Come on. So are breeders are scientist. We're all trying to work towards improving our grasses that we put out there that don't need as much of that and are more sustainable are easier to care for you..

"Well you're change is normal You know rarely does anything. Stay the same It's it's so hard Especially you know in the profession that we're in dealing with young men especially in the higher education forum You have to change you have to grow. You know we all talk about the landscape of lacrosse and how competitive it is and how you know. It's not four or five or six teams that are winning national championship. every year. i know a lot of people out. There don't wanna recognize that and realize that i it. Everything's cyclical and things go in cycles. You can get your cycle and then you know you're you're you're down a little bit and then you're your backup. Well it's it's competitive. In in the higher education environment and for for schools to succeed they have to change and leadership changes The the the the the the philosophy or the approach of the institution or the fabric of the institution the culture of the institution changes just like. It doesn't a lacrosse program. And you know. Sometimes you know. I said this. Yesterday you could be a good coach at a good program at a good school and things just aren't right because maybe the ships aren't all sailing in the right direction. Maybe the core values are at the same. Maybe you know how things you know how you handle things were just. They're just not the same. And there's there's change all around us. And you know. I i knew johns hopkins is ever changing And it has to and as a coach you know we we. We can't run the the same defense the same old seven defense that we ran when i was at johns hopkins You know we've changed and evolved. When we graduated the john rattigan's the john greeley's the pies irs radials we graduated all those midfielders that were big strong and athletic. We had to change the way we play offense and we went to a motion offense so changes all around us. And you know. I'm i'm dealing with right now. And you know my whole and change can be adverse. It can be hard. It can be difficult. My hope is that you know the way on handling this change and you know is a chance to teach the young man that i coached one more or less than how you handle this type of thing. That's very well said. And it's.
