"The Canucks skater was really close to knocking it down because you kind of shot it over a couple of Canucks, right? It was like, oh, that gets knocked down. That's back in his own end and it was a one goal game, and then all of a sudden everyone is upset about it. It's like, all right, yeah, I guess so. I guess if this worst case scenario happened, it could have led to a tie game, I guess. Oh, you're right. He shouldn't have done it when he pointed out that way. So yeah, there's always going to be people who try to kind of take the opposite of you but for the most part, it really feels like everyone is just like the two words goalie goal. Just make you feel a certain way. Of course, yeah, and somebody asked me the question recently, it's like, what moves the needle more at this point? Or I guess what's more rare at this point, a goalie goal or a goal at the fight. Because like, what was the last legitimate goalie fight that we've seen in the NHL? It was, I believe it was Mike Smith versus camp Talbot. A couple of years ago, like right before the COVID shutdown in a flames oilers game, right? Remember when it popped off? We had dialog one. That was a couple of years ago. We almost got John Gibson really, really bad. They wanted to fight Phoenix cobbly recently. And I know. One goalie fight in the past several years, and we've had multiple goalie goals. So you can make the argument that goalie goals are becoming more regular than goalie fights. I mean, I couldn't care less about regular fights in NHL games, and yet the idea of a goalie fight intrigues me and I think it would be even cooler if once they fought the two goalies in their full equipment, had to sit in the penalty box and serve the 5 minute majors. And then, and then both teams played with empty nets, and then they had to run back out on the ice after the 5 minutes. I think let's go for it. I mean, this is an entertainment product after all, and what would be more entertaining than that. So that's outrageous. I didn't at least try it in the ECHL and see what happens. I mean, the other day we actually did get speaking of your question. Scored a goal, and then in another game, same night,

"The following day at police headquarters, FBI special agent Jim Taylor is walking down the corridor when he meets an old friend detective JK. Hey, Jay. Hi. How are you? The back of the academy. Since you graduated, three times. Good. What are you doing in town? I was transferred to the field office here yesterday. Well, welcome to the city. Thanks, Jay. Can I show you around headquarters? Now I'm going up to the gallery and get some pictures from your files for our office, so. Hey, uh, understand you're getting a new police commissioner. Uh huh. Tomorrow. You heard anything about you? Not yet. I just hope he's not hamstrung. I guess everybody hopes you. This new assignment I am on is tough enough if I get the best of it. When are you working on? John Gibson. Give us some nosy. He's the head of the bookmakers here. Untouchable? Very. Why? Two big reasons, political influence and illegal front. How can book making have a legal front? Gibson owns a loan company. He buys over to accounts from every bookmaker in town for 50%. Yeah. Then one of his men goes to see the horse player and gets him to sign a set of notes, putting up either his car, his house, his furniture, anything he owns a security. He learns the money on it. No, no, they don't get any money. They just sign the notes. Gibson gives the bookmaker his 50%. Oh, I see. That makes it illegal dead and not a gambling day. Right. So if the force player doesn't pay, Gibson can foreclose, and does. And that is a tough one. You think there's any angle where our office could give you any help? No, not that I know of Jim. Well,

Because you know you're the value of the market has valuing the company at ninety million dollars right now if you've got one hundred million dollars of net operating losses. I can see why you would be a buyer personally because you recognize the acid is the you shut the doors right now and the value of the company would be greater than than what you're doing it well and we've still got over twenty million in cash so the cash wells or greater than the value the company at the moment. I think you always wanna see this a buyer. The moment that i cease to believe in the company. I should resign. I'll have any intention of resigning. And so i continue to buy and i continue to be. "The oil and gas industry we do and and we work with customers that are web are also committed to that as well in fact. That's the niche. We're moving into is to work with people that have that are about measuring the greenhouse gas component of their production and driving that down to two zero. That would be the goal. And so how do you help them do that. How do you help them. Produce it without using Carcinogenic chemicals like be tax benzine toll lanes eileen So i think everything about us saying we want to be the environmental chemistry company of choice and in most of our customers. Not all okay put. Most of them are committed to that goal as well. And when i listened to the ceo's the cfo's on the conference calls every quarter companies. Like devin have been kind of the show as well see of rick bankruptcy of devon melissa the calls from chevron they're very forthright about changing the way their business is right now and continuing to change it to being more concerned about Being a better stewards of the environment. I couldn't have have imagined hearing words. Like i hear now from across oil and gas industry ten years ago i mean i go to i go to intercom conference in denver and there would be sneers about the notion of a conference that i love about the very notion of climate change even and that just doesn't seem to happen at all. At least you know black company. Well i'm I said a little earlier. I repeat it too though. it's i. I really do admire gas. Toby rice at tea and and run. devon camino. I mean they're they're really serious about the environment and those companies are working hard to get that through the calm their companies. We still are challenge. Though by the fact that the c. suite understands the importance of this to maintain our social licensed operate for the future and we need to get that down to the wellhead. So that those there. We don't have a mixed message where their compensations based on production only it needs to be on sustainable production. And i think we're still in that transition as an industry where what we're hearing from the c. suite really good. What we're hearing at the wellhead is still not completely Ah land to the scorecard. Out of stace wait. So what does that mean for the sales. What's happened with low-tech right now at mainz. It's a bit of a challenge. But we're seeing the change. I mean i think there's a face Shaft where i would have said with all prices going up and the move towards grain that we should be doing significantly better but the actual buying of grain paints a change of suppliers changing contracts changes of approach and we were still experiencing that delay. Now are we getting the meetings on the phone every day. We'll see suites now talking about how to change Their performance in their sustainability. Those calls are picking up. I'm confident in our vision. Intermission just need a long enough runway to make it so. Do you have that runway. I mean i. I mentioned the collapse of put lipstick on it. It's the stock prices collapsed And you know it's down sixty percent probably in the last year i wonder move more Do you have the runway that you need well. We have several opportunities to raise cash. And we're working on those gory. So i have some some assets we had some properties that didn't have great value because the market was extremely down during cova but since then we've gotten long-term laces at good rates and our marketing that the real estate and i think that's going to give us additional cash and i think there are a few people interested in becoming investors in the company that we're talking to going forward. They see what the green positionings going to do. And how the industry shifting. But i mean we still have to execute. I mean our our problem now is sales. It's not vision. it's not products it's not Wave we really have no other issue than wrapping up the sale flyers. That's it says sales. Duluth something to tell you and to do that. Actually a pretty excited we Cove and it was hard to figure out when to invest in the salesforce. Gory so it's only been in the last four months that i've had confidence oil prices. Were going to be strong and that the marketplace was going to be strong. And so we've went from very small salesforce to a fairly sizable sales for share in the last quarter. And i think that's going to be probably the biggest driver seeing our sales. Go up our number feet on the street. What you're expecting on a per sales person in terms of quotas all of that actually matches the performance that we want to deal for shareholders. But i was. I was probably a little slow in ramping up. That additional cost downmarket being conservative. When you don't know when we'll turn around from gobert how how much the you tell me. Bodies what percentage of change forces a well we. We had a couple of non performers. We let go. And then we've we've at least double the salesforce both in the chemistry side and in the digital interested in the digital business real quick what the digital businesses the analyst analysis of what's happening in any given pipeline at any given moment right it's the analysis of fluids while flowing without releasing any thing to the atmosphere. So we believe in an pipe measure much not external so by the time. You have a leak. You know that. That's a crazy time to monitor for leaks. She'd rather monitor for no lakes so we have an impact analysis. Where every fifteen seconds we can tell you. The composition of the product you produced from wellhead or the product and a pipeline or the product at a refinery and so we would know the moment it came out of the ground. How many barrels of diesel. How many barrels of gasoline jet fuel you'd be able to refine from that barrel As and we're able to fingerprint oil to and associated with particular production operation. So that those people that are improving their sustainability reducing. co two. we're hoping they'll get a premium for that crude in the marketplace. And then we'll be able to identify that crude for them going forward so that when they take it to market you'll see low. Co two crew bring premium interesting. Let me also ask about the net operating losses more of a balance sheet issue. You guys because you have the great fortune of lost so much money that there's an inherent value in the in the company How what's there and how does that work. Well still have over one hundred million dollars and and have been building those since we last talk in the regulations oils are not as lucrative as they were in the past. And so you really have to think about the structure of any acquisition or merger or that you might contemplate to to retain advantage of an anna well but We've been a lot of time analyzing them to make sure that we can retain and preserve the majority of them and are looking at opportunities. That.

I know of noodles and company back. You'd never eaten there. Yeah i assume signed places you have. I had not until i started looking at the stock this week. I feel like they're in airports. Of maybe i'm wrong in that news and company trades under nda l. s. shares rose over seven percent today and they've gained seventy seven percent a year. Well is an interesting restaurant company trays extraordinary evaluation. And yes they sell. You want your car if you want to get the noodles and company although to be fair they had zucchini in cauliflower noodles as well. Yes you can get your california okay. There which is hard to nonetheless Noodles and nobody Interesting restaurant business growing kind of nice club a very richly valued by the market. But what. I thought was really interesting. Was they just announced. They've opened up the recently announced a second ghost kitchen. Do you know whether it's ghost kitchen business. I know of goes. Kitchens didn't know that noodles and company was using this. They're just experimenting with it. But they really like the open warner chicago and then they just announced the open one near here. Silicon valley here in san jose california. Someone say that's the heart of silicon valley. I don't know there is a heart in silicon valley. There's not now And no soul. No and yet here. I am Noodles and company's goes kitchen businesses meant to sort of take advantage of the way people get food to these days getting food delivered and more. The restaurant experience happens at your front door not in a restaurant and it really changes the way. The whole business works changes economics quite a bit but also changes the kitchen itself. The size of the kitchen can be a lot smaller. The kitchen can be optimized for creating stuff to go into a package and get out the front door instead of To look good in a menu or to be arrive at a table piping hot or whatever the things that matter inside of a restaurant something different for this company and The ceo when asked about an investor conferences. We had to go back to may to hear. Comments may nineteen when a dave boning housing this. Ceo talk about The difficulties in the goes kitchen business but really talked about why they loved goes kitchens and why it might create a different kind of opportunity for growth for noodle and company. Here's dave bornhausen. Walkabout aside from the speed departure though the mccown respect in is we're learning a lot about how efficient can we'd be artifical artifical kitchen right now. Your news eight hundred and fifty square feet. Bakshi using chicago is two hundred now. They're shares base. Exactly one for wanting to walk. It's not that however we are identifying ways to make the next it's one of the future even be more efficient so we gotta go stations will get a ton of earnings on harvey. More efficient with our marketing spends wells. Our operations are too cynically. Get into markets so we wouldn't otherwise access low-cost and efficient What we wanted to go a little bit of a wait and see what is the ultimate future. Now what's exciting about. Our brand is if you think. Further down the line in terms of virtual brands. We have that reunion. you'd want You could have an asian virtual brain you could have. American scenes could have vegetable vegetarian. We hit all match but first and foremost we when she learned the operation efficiency as we can get. How do we actually behind possible. So i think it's fascinating because it kinda changes the growth map for a company Who's you know importantly. Their digital sales were probably eighty percent higher than there in restaurants sales in the most recent two quarters so Digital sales really important for this business ghost kitchens can make then a lot more effective and profitable for noodles and company presumably every other kind of Business it's delivering food or coming of nascar next. That's b. r. a. n. t. u. s. t. dot com to learn more are we are joined right now flowtex. Ceo john gibson jen. We probably wouldn't have a company of your size on it. Since we edgy company. On a few months ago it was a bigger size of. I know you were just talking about being smart enough to have a glass of water to sip as we do the interview you might want. Something stiffer because for two reasons. Your stock is trading is down again today. But you've been buying stock not only talked about stock talking about business. But i'm curious to me that you are in their personally buying shares of the company in the most recent financial filings And so the pain of a stock falling. Even you know four percent today or eight percent today is felt by you feel. It feels terrible honest by. I think you want to see you. Feel the same payments to shareholders corey. So i've feeling the pain but caught bed and being small as you point out. We are a nanno company in terms of our size and as a consequence i think there are a few people that are in our stock that are also looking at tax losses for this year. Maybe they were in major investments where they have made quite a lot. So they're they're stepping out. We've got one or two that i'm aware of that are pondering whether they want to be in the fossil fuel side but in terms of the story are execution I think we're getting better and better and green stories. Resonating were probably six months away from the decisions at the wellhead equaling the philosophy and the sweet. And so i think we're on the right track. We have the right vision and strategy it sort of getting through the bumps of people restocking portfolios and finding the right people that are committed to fossil fuels and the road hit. And and you know this is a twenty five dollars five or six years ago. You weren't in the company of the company's very different company. Then it's it's a. It's a single the health. It's a bulk. Tana's we talk at this minute. A shocking development of. Let's let's talk about the business. I do want to get to the taxes. Not that tax losses. Investors are taking the kind of net operating losses. That you guys carrying as well but i was just talking about the business. What is flow tech today. What what. What are the most important.

John Gibson was the CEO of Trip wire interactive studio behind some very popular video games. He's not anymore because he dared voice his opinion on Twitter, and he got canceled a man with no power to do anything about the issue that he was tweeting about. Doesn't matter. In the meantime, our VP And the bail fund, once backed by Vice President Kamala Harris, helped free and alleged domestic abuser who's now accused of murder Right here in Minnesota. George Howard 48 years old allegedly became involved in a road rage altercation on Interstate 94 an entrance ramp before he shot another driver, according to Minneapolis police. This was weeks. After he was bailed out on domestic assault charges. Surveillance video recorded the moments when the driver of a blue BMW confronted Howard, who was driving a white Volvo, the victim can be seen punching Howard then collapsing. The victim, later identified as Luis Damian Martinez Ortiz, 38 years old, got back into his own car, then drove into the median. He was pronounced dead at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. Howard had been out on $11,500 bond in connection with the domestic salt, a case since August six, according to court records. That's when the Minnesota Freedom fun bailed him out. And if you're not familiar with the Minnesota Freedom, fun to just scroll through Kamala Harris's Twitter feed because she has more than one occasion tweeted out that you should support them and you should give them money. And basically with the Minnesota Freedom Fund does is they just bail people out without any real thought as to who they're bailing out or why they were arrested or what they're in there for and this is not the first incident. Where somebody who was bailed out by the Minnesota Freedom Fund went on to hurt somebody. They're agents of chaos. It's the bottom line. They are agents of chaos they want. They don't care that this happens and there's a there's a portion of the individuals that support these types of organizations that maybe won't dare speak it. But I firmly believe want it to happen. They want this chaos. They want to. So this discord. The Freedom Fund ostensibly will tell you that they are opposed to cash bail like they Think this is like it's over. It's wrong system. And this is their way of fighting against that system. And no, that is not. This is not the way to fight against the concept in the existence of a cash bail system, right, you go, and you do that legislatively. What you're doing here is exactly what John said. You are fomenting chaos, and they know this. They know that dangerous and violent people are being bailed out with the money that they have. They know this and they and they Don't care. There's a level of grotesque arrogance that is attached to this. Minnesota Freedom Fund did tweet that on Friday that they admitted to their role in putting Howard back on the streets. Okay, Then they went and wrote, We are aware of reports of the tragic and fatal shooting in Minneapolis earlier this week involving George Howard, an individual. The Minnesota Freedom funded previously provided bail support. The Mff believes that every individual who has been arrested by law enforcement is innocent until proven guilty, and if a judge Dean's them eligible for bail, they should not have to wait in jail simply because they don't have the same income or access to resources as others, and that's fine that you think that There's nothing wrong with thinking that there's nothing wrong with having that stance, right. But if you want to fix that, you do it legislatively. You do it by changing the law. You don't do it by bailing out violent criminals with no regard whatsoever for the consequences of your actions. The group said it was monitoring the case and reviewing its policies. Mm hmm. Harris had promoted the bail group during the 2020 campaign urging Twitter followers to donate to the group in June of that year. A spokesperson for the vice president, of course, declined to comment on Tuesday, and she wasn't alone. I mean, you had your entire brigade of blue.

"Want to talk to us. 3123323776 Black and Abdel will be on for a short show from 66 30. We've got light socks, baseball, another good one against the Blue Jays tonight. Um, the Bears were back on the field that they have been for OTAs next week will be the mandatory minicamp. By the way. A lot of defensive players did not show up again. John Gibson did come back their safety. Yeah. And Hero town. Was there again believe if I read things correctly, Andy Dalton threw three picks today. Wow. And I'll play you adjust and bite about Justin Fields had a beautiful deep ball he threw. I wanted to Ask a question to Matt Nagy. I believe was around this time yesterday When I told everyone I was going to come into work early and set up in, you know, we recorded into crosstalk unhinged. That should be on the ESPN. Chicago app right now, Um, every week, 30 minutes, So we got here early. Right on Karm. Yurko got off the air. We recorded that at noon. And then I went in very early, and I was texting with adala making sure that my computer was right and that I knew where to sign in on the bare zoom. As I've watched those press conference on Twitter without the capability of asking a question them like it's just open to everyone. Can I ask a question I got in at 12. The the press conference is scheduled at one. I want to find out from someone in the bedrooms organization. The invites have been out there for Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy to join us on the show. Nagy has many times. Throughout the years. I don't believe Ryan Pace has ever been on the show. I don't think so. Maybe one time in bourbon A. Did he sit down with that? We had Phil Emery. I don't remember Ryan Pace. I remember meeting Ryan Pace a couple times. Nice guy, Wonderful knife, but but never never appearing on our show. He usually would join cap and he very rarely speaks outside of that little show that he does. During the week during the hill to manage the message, right. He doesn't speak to the general media really at all during the year before the season, and after this season, I just want to know from someone, okay? Hear me out. I want to know. Was. Andy Dalton promised the starting job when he signed here for opening day, not open the starter going into training camp for the starter going into mini camp. I want to know if this is truly going to be a competition. Or are they just going to give Andy Dalton the job on opening day? Because they promised him and I think that this involves every all of us like we want to see when Justin Fields could win the job is Justin Fields. Able to win the job, so They have not appeared on our show. So I said, Look, I'll go on the zoom today and I will ask a question I even cross referenced with Wieder about this. It was scheduled for one o'clock. I sign in at 12 50 under your own name, Big mistake. Big mistake. I should have said, cap and put on, you know, a bald, bald hat or something like that, or like the esteemed Don Pearson, and then they see me, Dan Pompei. You could have used right right. It could have used lots of people who respected but I signed in the press conference starts late at about 1 15. So I'm already 25 minutes before it even starts. But once we were all let in. I raised my hand right away right away. They call on Look, they call on all the usual guys. All the beat reporter Shannon Shannon Ryan. They went to John Miller. John Miller. They went to Brad Biggs. They went to Dan Wieder. They went to Adam Johnson's All the so I'm like. Okay, look, they'll get to guys like me late. Look it to me late and then the guys like you like guys that just like who are just here. Don't cover the team. About time. I'm a bandwagon guy. Yeah, I'm just coming who was got his own radio show? Who said the day before? I want to put him on this on the grill, and I'm gonna grow. It's not about gorilla. I don't want to grill. I just want an answer. I want to ask a direct question that gets direct answer. Send him an email. Maybe you'll get a response. What do you think the email is? What's manages email address. Do you think I could email man Nagy? Probably directly without getting in trouble from the Bears? Yeah, he sent you a text. Didn't he's anyone back? Go back in your phone and figure out what his number was. He called me. Okay? Don't you have a call log? That's like from a year ago, a year and a half ago. I don't know if I You don't even dump the spam email that they send. That's true. Like 90,000 of those up to my phone here. 212,912 email third away. Start over the phone or life? Yeah, control all to lead on your side. I know. I know. Jeez, and I have taken out a new email address, but I still can't pull the trigger. I'm so anyway, I've got my hand up. And then I'm Dahlan notices that someone lowered my hand. I didn't do anything. Like the moderators, someone in that zoom lowered my hand. So thankfully of dollar, like a great team that he is, let me know. So I raised my hand again. Virtually I'm raising my hand. And then of course they come in. Do you have the sound bite from bears? PR? Where where they lowered the boom on me, and they taunted me. They basically bat flipped me at the end of the press conference. We got time for two more. We're gonna go Mike Berman. We're gonna close out with Jason Measure. So in case you're like some host an ESPN 1000 waiting with your hand up which we lowered earlier and now you have your hand up again. It's Berman and then Jason and you got no shot. There were indeed I think they did you a favor instead of making you sit there with your hand up knowing that they weren't going to go to you, they actually let you know They weren't going to go to you and you go about your business. I I felt like someone who got stood up at a date. I walked off to upset and I am now going to make this my priority where I'm going to stock every zoom call until they call on me. You have a different name. Logging under someone else's name got time for two more. We're going to go Mike Berman. We're going to close out with Jason Leisure stick. It's Silverman. You're not asked. We don't want to answer whether or not we promised Andy Dalton the job fans don't need to know that the concept of No. That's a separate discussion, but the concept of guaranteeing the job who is on his third team. And his bridge guy based on the contract that he signed just is how do you do business that way and again? I don't know that That's the case because you weren't able to ask the question. They weren't able to answer it. Why would you guarantee a starting job? That's my point. That's why I'm so outraged by this. Like if they did. I just I mean, I don't I wouldn't go about Listen, if you're Aaron Rodgers, Aaron, you're starting week one. I can definitively say that on June 9th right now, And the funny part is they're not right. Not right. Yeah. They told him that your start. You gotta come back. You can't be in. You know, Hawaii partying you got for us. He had a big play for us. You're gonna start there You'll be there. You're starter week one. So my next chance of dollar is next week, right? There are mandatory. Many camps going on Wednesday Thursday. He speaks three times. And if they don't take me Tuesday, I'm I'm checking in on the other principal. They probably think the joke's on me like they're already tried to do that. Yeah. I I put out a tax them like, Well, dude, I went out of my way today. I scheduled around this. Well, you can. It's during the show on Tuesday and Wednesday, So I'm gonna put you in the other request for you to the other room, waddling the two and what he calls Championship Boys. Will the show chip in and we'll check in with you will give you rations if you need it. While you're in there, waiting for Nagy to speak, because better he'll be late Water. And then once you if you don't when you don't get to ask your question Tuesday will do it again Wednesday, But I'll tell you this on Thursday. He speaks at 12 30. You're gonna have to get here. Okay? Unless they call on me. Well, they probably want they're not going to college unless you change your name. You think I should make a can you put up a fake name? I mean, you have They see who it is? No, because you're less. The The lower zoom log, so you can change it to whatever you want. Also, the less you're in there, the like, the less likely they are to calling you like if you make up a name from from the the Let's say the Lyle Times Picayune planned the How did you got a local? Um, picky you because you have to have a look in New Orleans always has to end with picky You in a good newspaper always ends with picky and the only the only newspapers I subscribed to and give my money to end with picky Yun And they they're.

"Number five number five. I'm not too happy with them. Being here to be honest. But i had the ducks i don't i haven't done anything to really make them a playoff team. I don't think kesslers out. He's done then gibson is he their number one goaltender john gibson. I don't know i. There's nothing on this team that i really like. I don't really have much to say about them. Especially with that being on the west. But from what i could see. I don't see them making the playoffs. Especially without how disappointing. Their season was last year to five hundred team. They're not gonna do anything again. Okay all right so who. My number five is the wild. So i think. I think zachary's is gonna take back bay step back. I think cam talbot won't play as well as he has. I don't think nick no. I don't think nick benigno is What's called i'm sorry. I don't think nick bananas can be able to step up on the same I think they're really just going to have kevin fiala on offense You know people are banking on krill. Cappers of or correal krill correal rookie But he's not the rookie that you wanna bet on you. Know they're top for is still solid but other than that you know. I mean i think they could make plays push cam talbot says on level but i mean i mean. He played on a pretty decent calgary team. You know And i don. Who had offense support. And i don't really think that minnesota has the offensive support to match that. I can see what you're saying. Plus the affiliate should play like shit against the knox in the play in round so But yes i them at five. I mean five and four interchangeable from me. But but i do think that they're not interchangeable. But i think i have minnesota actually at number four because i think the addition of can't tell but it's actually great for them He definitely had one of his better seasons last year or at least on the come back to where he used to be..

"For the U. S district Attorney's office. My dad was a cop. My cousins and CIA and my other uncles were cops. So I the more I looked at this video and there is a video on the front of the Washington Post today that will blow you away. It's the actual shooting. Of Alicia Babbitt. Um, it's it's not his graphic Asai sound. Nonetheless, It's disturbing and sad, and it's just really, really, um uh, stir the ashes. They of anger that I had towards this president. Now the U. S attorney's office in D. C S launched a federal murder investigation into the death of U. S. Capitol Police officer Brian Sick Nick, who died last night, after injuries in this and you see these cops in there and You know, I'll tell you what there's like. There's two distinctly different police. There's the ones that were standing there doing the best they could to protect the building and to protect the members of Congress inside. And then there's the others that were hanging in laughing and those officers in my opinion should be arrested. Those that took selfies with them and allowed this to happen should be arrested for being part of this. Lot to talk about their Andy Field. ABC News correspondent joins us for the latest on the federal murder investigation. And you hope you well, good to have you here. Thanks. Chip isn't this was quite a week here in Washington. I know used to be here. The Idea. It's become an armed in campus of what the U. S. Capitol now has a very tall metal fence surrounding it Impenetrable, which, frankly, should have had the day of this rally, But it didn't and we don't understand quite why the same fence around the White House. I mean, the way look like a third World country right now in Washington, DC, and it's very sad to watch. You know I was I was on W. Mel back in the nineties in 1998 22 years ago, I was on at nights I am We smell freedom. And I Earlier that day, Capitol Hill Police Officer John Gibson was shot by a guy who not who came in there and And he was protecting Tom DeLay. Remember, Hammer the hammer, Tom DeLay. And so that night, Tom DeLay's driving home and he knew John Gibson, the guy that died and he called me on the air, and he was bawling on the air. This hard ass of conservative Republican There's a really unique relationship with the people that protect them. Especially these days. That was pre 9 11, right, But the which really bothers me. My first instinct and I got in a fight with my wife and some friends When they were saying, Look what happened here? The police ran on it. I go. No, no, no, no, no, no. This is a this is a cluster bomb of epic performed proportions. Son should have resigned the head of the Capitol police, But we also should you know, like I just said, you know, we've got to go after the ones that we're taking the selfies and there were goofing around because it's an extremely important job they had, and they're the administration dropped the ball on this, not to mention That you know that story of cast any Hoyer calling. You know Governor Hogan in Maryland and trying to get the National Guard to come in and rescue them when they're hiding for their lives. What a day. Yeah, well, we're told that the National Guard was actually in the armory, which is, you know, it's not too far from the capital of near our world. What used to be RFK Stadium? My sister saw the Beatles there. Yeah, right. It's just right down Constitution Avenue. Yeah, I mean, very good. You could walk there. You could walk from the capital in there. And they for some reason, no one called them to come in now. The president, uh, literally. Settle I yesterday In his so called concession speech, he said. As soon as I saw this happening, I immediately called up the National Guard. That is demonstrably not true. It's demonstrably not true by the play by play of This thing going for quite some time before any help came in on number two. We're told that it wasn't the president. In fact, the president had to be persuaded to call in the guard from multiple sources inside the White House. I'm saying that if he didn't do this, this would spread around the country were also told that the vice president got involved calling the Pentagon to get these guardsmen in place. Why they weren't in place in the first place is astonishing, because as we were watching The president's rally. At one point I heard him say we're going to march up Pennsylvania to the capital, and the blood literally drained out of my face and I'm going. I cannot believe he just said this because they will do that and it will be bad. And this was probably an hour or so before this happened, and it stuns me that no law enforcement officials watching this didn't say Send the guard to the capital immediately. I do not understand why that didn't happen. You know, part of me and five is a horrible number for people to die. I I still think this thing could have been catastrophic. I mean, if somebody you know, I mean, imagine if if they had gotten into the room were AOC was Or or Schumer or Pelosi, Right. Imagine if they if the these group had had their have the ability to get at them, um, that didn't happen. And and thankfully you know the again the were very brave again. The video at the front of the Washington Post its on my Twitter page, or you can just go to Washington post dot com and check it out. It is. I watch these cops and there's hundreds of people there yelling is banging away and they just stood there stoically until they were told. You know, to move aside and let him through because they didn't want cops getting hurt. And that's when that woman got shot. Somebody shot through the door and apparently on the other side of that door was a direct access. T o the members of Congress where they were in their offices where they were hiding. S o. I mean, the shooting seems entirely justified, albeit tragic, and said the president United States, I think, ensure win that district attorney there. Should be charged. He should be charged with a crime. And you know, we've all talked about Skander sitting president be charged the crime. Let's test it charged with a crime. See if you could be arrested. Yeah, This.

"Goes way way back and was created in distant disparate places egypt rome india italy hungary. You name it. There are ancient roman coins that depict niro playing the bagpipes so while we can debate whether or not nero fiddled while rome burned hinging mostly on what the definition of fiddle is. It seems clear. He played the bagpipes. It's not clear when bagpipes made it to scotland. But we do know that at the time they had only a single drone. The pipe put makes the characteristic constant background note until the fifteen hundreds won a second drone was added and the last drone was added in the seventeen hundreds all of the chiefs of the highland clans employed pipers for both peacetime and war spurring their troops on victory until seventeen forty five bagpipes were linked to jacobite ism the movement that sought to remove james the second from the british throne and restore the catholic. Stuart kings the jacobites saw the bagpipes. As an icon of scottish national belonging and military pride while there are loyalist opponents saw it at best as a risible accessory for unflattering caricatures and at worse as an instrument of war carrying pipes was viewed the same as carrying a weapon. And a your command was tried for treason. The court declared quote no highland regiment data piper and therefore. His bagpipes in the eyes of the law was an instrument of author and sentenced him to death but john gibson author of traditional gaelic bag piping seventeen forty five to nineteen forty-five said it didn't happen that way the bagpipe man. Not the execution. That part happened. In fact the execution of the piper james reid might have to the muddling of the historical waters. Some of the confusion seems to stem from the disarming act of seventeen forty six which would get an amendment quote restraining. The use of highland dress this outlawed tartan plaid but didn't say anything about bagpipes. James reid may well have been piper. But that wasn't why he got the short drop and sudden stop he'd taken part in jacobite rebellion's and conviction had nothing to do with the disarming act so a case could be made that the seventeen forty five ban. Didn't actually happen. That makes that one line from braveheart. Goodbye plan outlawed. Choose twice as wrong. Since that set over four centuries earlier the bagpipes were verifiably band. In the nineteen forties in poland. Germans forbade the polls to play their pipes for a similar reason. Because of its ability to stir up nationalist spirit. Just think about that the next time you say it sounds like a bag of cats and a garbage disposal in fairness though you're not completely alone in your entirely wrong hatred of bagpipes in eighteen ninety seven. Belgium sent an expedition to antarctica with the intention of being the first party to over winter there even in modern antarctica with modern transportation. A lot of planning goes into keeping a crew alive. If you're in charge of the food you might have to plan out a years worth of meals and order your supplies eighteen months in advance. And that's today so imagine what it was like more than one hundred twenty years ago. Part of the plan of the rv gca that being the ship that they took was to hunt and eat penguins which would not only provide them with fat and protein but also vitamin c to ward off scurvy catching animals perfectly adapted to the harshest climate on earth turned out to be much easier than they thought. The supplies of the ship included a few musical instruments to maintain morale and whatnot. Apparently all you had to do was play the trumpet and the penguins would come right up to you when one man took out his banjo and played. It's a long way to tipperary a whole raft of penguins which is the collective noun gathered to listen. The reception was somewhat more critical for the bagpiper. The penguins fled in terror and plunged back into the sea tremendous tinkerer. Benjamin franklin had been so captivated by performances on musical glasses. Were you rub your fingers around the rim of glasses with different amounts of water in them to produce different notes. It was big in the eighteenth century and franklin wanted to see if he could make it even better. He saw that before each concert. The performer would tune the instrument by filling each glass with just the right amount of water. That sounds like a half. And if you watched miss congeniality by choice or because it was on in the waiting room you know that musical glasses are one of the few instruments that can be ruined by being mistaken for craft services in a letter written in seventeen sixty two to the italian scientist. Giambattista macharia franklin described a musical instrument. He had designed that made use of thirty-seven cups to help you. Visualize it rather than cups think bolts each one a little bit smaller than the last picture them in a neat stack. Trump's Postmaster General DeJoy will testifies before Congress
"Lewis to Joy testifies before Congress Today he is sure to be questioned about just how he is changing the U. S Postal Service. Joy has already promised to suspend his plans until after the election, but still faces concern about male delays and mail in ballots. That is especially the case in states where the vote may be close. Such as Pennsylvania, where NPR's Jeff Brady is based. Just about every summer. For more than two decades, Nancy Rothwell and her family have rented a vacation house at the Jersey Shore. This was the first year she ran into a problem with the mail. The realtor contacted me after about two weeks. And said, Hey, where is your money? And I said, What are you talking about? I mailed it in July. Sir, usually takes just a few days for mail to travel 80 miles from Roth Wells, Philadelphia suburb to the shore town. Fortunately, the check arrived, but just barely in time, three weeks from now. Tell him village to Ocean City, New Jersey is like ridiculous. The Postal Service declined to comment for this story. It referred NPR TOE. Postmaster General Lewis to Joy's announcement that cost cutting measures will be suspended until after the election to joy says the agency will be ableto handle whatever volume of election mail it receives. But postal service unions are not convinced. John Gibson is president of the National Postal Mail Handlers Union. Local 30 Wait, which covers Delaware. Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He says. Giant mail sorting machines that have already been removed aren't coming back. The trend facility took out 60 VCs machines, which sorts mail there not being returned. They're just not going to perceive with removing the other three. The loss of those machines now is a concern, says Gibson, because they also sort mail in ballots because of the pandemic. New Jersey is mailing ballots to everyone, and Gibson thinks not having these machines will slow down processing. Times. The steps that have been taken initially by the postmaster general have led to the slowing of the mail deliveries. No doubt about it. Ohio is another politically important state this election and at least one case, they're postal workers say equipment they thought would just be unplugged and covered with a tarp was instead dismantled and stored outside exposed to the elements. Ensuring it can't be used again. On top of these changes. Union official Gibson says the Corona virus pandemic also has slowed mail delivery. He says absenteeism among his members was up to 50% in spring, he says that's improving and has been cut in half. Still, even with change is suspended and workers coming back. Some voters like Yumi Kwan near Philadelphia are losing confidence that the Postal Service can ensure their votes will be counted and I going to get my mail in ballots on time. If I mail my ballots really get there on time. Voting is important to Quan. She's not a fan of President Trump, who won Pennsylvania four years ago by a narrow margin. With the Corona virus. She doesn't want to risk missing election day. Like if I get physically sick and I have to be hospitalized, I will not be able to go and vote. She signed up for a mail in ballot but has decided it will be best to deliver it in person. Jeff
