"Rather you're mad about this money for monday and also. I don't think we're talking enough about john fossil and he's like an old guy like mean maybe he's just like a fossil in the nfl. My shirts thing was a lot better than that. Just for the record so the cowboys. It's fourth in twenty for the chargers in cowboys fourteen to eleven which was a halftime score. Gami by the way. That's how i know i think that's like that's it's not hard obtain with you right. Yeah you could go for two and then get a feel like yeah. I mean it happened to the eagles. I mean so i mean to that point but anyway so back to get the ball back about their own ten yard line. They have timeouts too many warnings now. Whatever on fourth and twenty. John fossils sends the house and the cowboys rough. The punter in the chargers got a new series of downs. They end up attempting a field goal that they miss But remember the cowboys won this game. Twenty to seventeen and so. This was pretty reckless from john fossil. And so on monday. He was asked about this and what he was thinking and he said i was thinking that cowboys fans you know. Wanna be bold. And so i did it for them. You know 'cause we we went after it and it was like what am i. I kind of think he was trolling like. He's probably just annoyed that he's been getting heat for this. But i i mean i don't. I don't believe that he seriously did this. Just like i can't believe the knicks serianni seriously called the phillies special to rub. You know eagles fans the right way but it is possible. I have one knicks. Johnny dean merit to hand out. But i think you'll hate it. What is it. I think that sometimes coaches want to make things about themselves like john john. Fossil clearly wants to be the guy that developed the like insane. Play that the team won the game. Because of knicks serianni is trending in this direction. I think nick. Johnny is very aware of his physical. Appearance is guy works out right. Guy looked sharp and instant polls and stuff. But he's doing this weird stupid highlighter on the side. Front of the visor. the it's very very matt patricia. of say oh well like. That's at least what i've noticed like. This is not something where you know. Like actually on the subject of mike mccarthy. I remember The america's game on the two thousand ten packers. He talked about how he He sticks sharpies in the back of his cap to like. Hold them there but like he takes the cap off and just like puts it up there so the sharpie like rubs on the top of his back. You know what i mean. So he always ends up with these like you know marks on his back. This is not just a convenience thing this is nick. Serianni try nick. Syria wants eagles fans to dress up as for halloween input little highlighter. 's on the side of their front visor. I'm telling you i. I'm i'm in on this before anybody else. I respect the observation. I don't think it's true because serianni is really like hands on out of involve guy to sing him. So i imagine he is using that any is doing things just because i've seen him like he's all over. He has a lot energies. Everyone's face like. I don't think he just has that end for the looks whereas mattresses seems to succeeds kinda like mosey around and whatever chewing gum or whatever and Having i think serianni actually is actively engaged so i i fully agree with that also another observation though while we're on this. Do you ever think it's weird. How you'll coaches always like wear all black. That's always what. Don't to andy reid like. Just wear all black. Their colors act is not even officially one of their colors like know the eagles go like the accent like black accents in or whatever and they obviously have the all blacks jersey but like it's not even one of their main colors. It's weird to me. I am actually really glad you brought this up. Because when i was watching the game with my Wife and my pants cowboys game. And all the chargers coaches had gray pants. And i thought the coordinated this right mean was a. I used to call high school football games and all the high school coaches would do the same like i. i really believed they. Would you know. Go to the head coach. It'd be like okay guys. I bought these at ross. You know what i mean. So it's the ross on on whatever street by whatever go they have every size baba blah will expensive whatever so. I think it's definitely a thing. I also think a thing this year. I've seen more coaches biaggi wearing t-shirts like the drive t shirts and i ever have before you know. We've coaches have different set ups right like some some go polo's some go the half zip. Some some go hoodies right. Depending on the weather some do the full out jacket. Whatever some kind of have zip shorts thing shorts of on monday night football matlock. Fleur had a long-sleeve underneath a short sleeve. Dry fit or he rolled the sleeves up. What are you doing. you're wearing to shirts. And you're rolling the sleeves. Up and dan campbell. Who's also incredibly fit at a again. A short sleeve t shirt. The caller is just a standard t shirt. I think the t shirts are coming in hot for. Nfl coaches now. It is such a football guy. Move to do the long sleeve thing. I don't know that really. I know like in the summer again watching eagles training camp. There's so many coaches that have long sleeves on. It's like ninety degrees out rapper humidity but Do the long sleeve. so i don't know but i feel. You should actually talk about the game here this week. But i have one last thing and it's a listener question because that's what we're here to do on the nfc's mix tape. I've mentioned before shoutout to josh. And the man league and the pga touquet society loyalist. Nur's they are to the nfc's mix tape and he asked me to ask you biaggi specifically the message on discord said. Will you ask bill. Gee if that's the most opposing team jerseys he's ever seen at the link. There were so many niner gang out there. That's a fair question. I'm thinking back to other games and vikings had a decent amount. Obviously that was the nfc championship game. So they're gonna make sense at different. That's not your standard thing right. There was the home opener either. Way for the eagles. The fact that it's even debatable. It's kind of sad. yeah. I don't think it was like a sense of like eagles fans weren't there though you know what i mean. It wasn't like a lot of empty seats and they were filled up by forty nine. Sands i think part of it. Is that the forty niners. Haven't really been here in a while to go back to twenty seventeen since last time and they're also very bad. Obviously that you're those. Cj beathard starting quarterback and also kind of like a rainy day. overcast day. That wasn't the nicest day out. So maybe it's kind of just at the forty niners haven't been in philly in a while and obviously you have a.

"There's some thought that he called that play as a pain during kind of move because he's been like very pandering so far to the the all phillies outfit leading up to week one. He's wearing iverson jersey before the practice shirt. The jalen hurts t shirt he does that with a critique shirts by the way for your free idea for you guys would be these t shirts but spelt like shirts like s. h. h s. When you make a jalen shirts a t shirt that's terrible. Had i couldn't even i didn't even think on it until you decide explained it there Making idea for someone out there. They really wanna do that. Take it Yeah like. I don't know that i fully believe that. I think it could have been like more than a zero percent chance. There's some truth to that because it's like. Hey you know how this play and like oh man flint's fans are gonna love that like i kinda. I can't think that's the only motivation behind it. I think it is a trick. Even you've seen at work before the college obviously sure for the eagles like i think it's not like totally worthless play but like okay. It's one thing to do it in the situation. You are in the super bowl. Because i feel like that's something like they're never gonna expect to such a high leverage situation like there's a lot. There's a lot of data though to support that. Taking risks and games like that provides marriage swings the super championship. Yeah like sean payton. Onside kick like those type of things. I totally and fi with championship games. But here it was very weird If he's really placating fans with actual calls I am seriously concerned Did you hear not being about the because they do have a nixon on a follow up here. Did you hear what what john fossil said about the cowboys trying to block the chargers punt at the end of the first half i saw you were mad or heard. Listen rather you're mad about this on monday. Football monday also. I don't think we're talking enough about john fossil. He's like an old guy. i mean. maybe he's just like a fossil in the nfl. My shirts thing was a lot better than that. "I i don't think there's any way of getting around at the tonight. A loser for the dallas cowboys. Is greg zero line. Let's let's your thoughts your thoughts on greg's Let's see here one second. This is a hectic night. Obviously greg line just amber says. I'm so mad right now on facebook. i'm with you. I get this. You know an anthony says not the same defense Tony says push off definitely a push off there at the end cowboys losing. Because the buccaneers drive. If somehow missed the game drive at the very kick a game winning field goal which just about no time remaining cowboys. defense can't stop them in the cowboys. Defense i will say kind of was a little bit of the same old defense. We didn't get you know a defense that was just allowing the bucks going on and on and on and on but this defense did get four turnovers tonight. But if we examine those turnovers. I think the only real authentic one was the demarcus lawrence forced fumble demarcus. Lawrence is definitely a winner tonight. I think demarcus lawrence was awesome. But the first interception the cowboys had the trayvon digs on was a tipped ball. Off of leonard fournette. Yes that counts. Yes that's true. Yes that count statistically but you know that's not necessarily your defense making a play on the ball cowboys also got an interception on. Tom brady at the end of the first half throwing a hail. Mary trying something before the half. That isn't really count. Although jordan lewis certainly had valiant effort trying to run that back and get some points You know the last turnover. The one that kind of turned the game around a little bit. That gave the cowboys. an opportunity. There at the very end Was just kinda. Chris godwin you know running into devante. Casey's helmet those things aren't necessarily You know something. You can replicate on a week by week basis and so for that reason. It's hard to give the cowboys credit. For all of those turnovers it was a different type of performance at the exact same defense we. I think we definitely saw some improvements. I think that mike parsons played moderately. Well i think that demarcus lawrence has mentioned played while randy gregory was on things But this was. I mean man. What a rough game for anthony

"Dax the window when everybody says the window closed in the window was closing because tony romo's window is closing decks window is at least another ten years so i don't look at that as being like what happens if zeke falls off and what happens if tyrant well you gotta find other guys like. Let's say for example. Let's say in this off season tyronn retired will then. You're probably taking like a person. You're probably draft sean slater. You're taking somebody in the draft that you know has to play the right away. But because tyronn had his surgery. Lyle head his they obviously saw enough there that hey these guys are able to play for a few more years offensive line is going to be addressed again and if you're a cowboys fan. That's concerned about that. I will say just look at their track record. I don't know anyway. Drafted offensive lineman better than them. And let's not act like they found him all at tyron smith and it's out semi zack. Martin was no guarantee lau councils guy that he had some luck involved. But that's the cowboys. Get because they have jerry jones and they have the star and the brand so you you get those opportunities but like that. But they've never been able to find guys connor williams counter mcgovern like it's not necessarily going to be three three four five potential ring of honor. Guys you might have to win with a lesser offensive line. But you can do that. As your quarterback continues to progress and get older and and his is becomes. More of a savvy veteran which is clearly where deck is now more so than before so for me personally when people talk about how how big how long the window is there and stuff like that it for me in the nfl. It's all about. It's all about your your your franchise quarterback. I don't even care about the coaches any of the other. Like tell me how long you're gonna have this franchise quarterback or and we'll find pieces to go around him. I mean the. The patriots did that with tom. Brady the packers are doing that right now. With aaron rodgers the saints. That would breeze. I mean generally speaking less. You're like one of those bottom teams like the lions with a matt. Stafford that you waste somebody like that. Generally speaking you know you're gonna if you're like the cowboys as long as you have their french you're gonna have other pieces to be able to make it run almost every year. Yeah i respected. So were your thoughts in terms of you. Know where they they had to make the roster cuts thirty. I didn't get down to the hippie three and whether any any surprise you in. I have to say I know on this podcast. Specifically we are at least happy. The new is going to be back on the practice squad. I you know. I had to throw out one of those names on twitter. And of course scott's health that because everyone assumes that i'm excited about him because of his talent level in that just shows they. Don't listen to this year podcast but i rarely way. What were you guys thinking. I mean it was there anything that stood out to you that you were just like. I was not expecting that there was a little bit more like black and white. like you. Just kinda saw coming begging. Oh i mean i is i think mine kinda revolves more around like why they chose certain guys for hard knocks. Instant like at all of them are on the practice squad when we could really be focusing. We could focused on like actual storylines on the team. But i digress are not getting a little disappointing. I have to admit. I just finished watching this week so i was like. Yeah i got. I got conspiracy theories about that but go. Oh you do. We need to hear. Don't i wanna conspiracy theory now actually. Yeah let's hear that real quick. We're gonna take a side bar. I need outside martin. I literally have been saying Also why are we not getting more dan quinn. I know they can make their decisions. I know in the cupboard list but still like either way. Let's hear. I mean. I don't even even call conspiracy like there's reasons why i believe. This is true. I believe they're getting really good stuff. But then it goes through an editing process. That includes the cowboys i mean. I'll just give you give you one example that this told this spoke volumes to me. John fossil we ask him about at the very end of his press conference about talking about the vasectomy thing. Yeah and he specifically said they came back him multiple times. Are you sure we use it. We need to say sure we can use this then rich del ripple came back to him and ask them. Hey are you sure this several days so clearly. It's going through a very thorough process. Where if they're asking john fossil about that undis- dissect these i find it hard to believe that they're ask ask mike mccarthy over and over again like hey you know do. Are you sure you want this in here. Let's go over this one more time. Mike mccarthy was not happy about in that first episode about that conversation in there were him. And talking about zeke. And i'll be honest with you. It was out of all of the first four episodes. That's the part surprised me the most and it's and if there's anything even in the running with that it's the daqian mike dopp and talking about. How can we swear on here. No yes okay. Yeah dax talking about the like you know then down. Yeah like all that. And he's dropping all those f. bombs and things like that like i don't want anymore that i thought the first episode had a lot of that. I think that after mike mccarthy and others saw that they were like all right we're gonna dow back and so just instead of when you watch hard knocks instead of thinking all right forty eight to fifty two minutes of the absolute best stuff that got this week. I think it is more of okay. They they have five hours of great stuff and it gets whittled down to like forty eight minutes of stuff. That like the cowboys are like okay. Fine you can use stuff like that. I mean there's a reason why not just this year last year with the rams and the chargers wise been getting more and more boring probably part of the agreement. They're doing with these teams by doing it is. Hey you'll have even more say in the editing process that that was not the case. I just do not believe that. That was the case with the all or nothing series when they follow the cowboys around. That thing was twenty seventeen. There was so much good stuff behind the scenes in the meeting..

"Really helped us in. Like we've told you we are in a competition against nation philadelphia the philadelphia eagles plug for explanation. I messed up the wording but the eagles so it's all good but we do have a preview show by the way available for you on the youtube channel if you want to get an inside in terms of what we want to see etc from this contest tony catalina from joined us on there so it was a lot of fun but we do. Have some news and notes to get to with regards to the cowboys are at one day before their third. Preseason game so let's go ahead and get to it on thursday. The third day of the dallas cowboys made official the signing of their new kicker the rim. How rula who you will recall that earlier in the week the dallas cowboys dropped from ninety two eighty five players per nfl rules. So if you add eighty-sixth player you obviously have to drop somebody to get down to eighty five. What goes up must come down sort of situation. So that as cowboys waived slash injured they do not injure him. They just gave him a designation punter slash kicker hunter nice nicewander on thursday hunter has been punting and kicking for the dallas cowboys preseason period. He punted for the cowboys last season. After kris jones got hurt. I think he had an outside shot a very outside shot of making the roster so this could be a an i. r. stash sort of situation because if you are unaware at this particular designation the waved slash injured one means that if hunter nicewander makes it through waivers today unclaimed by any other team. He will revert to the dallas. Cowboys injured reserve his season with the dallas cowboys. At least is over for two thousand twenty one. This is the same thing that did happen as mentioned to. Anthony hines earlier in the week now. Special teams coordinator. John fossil did say on thursday. That greg's airline. Who was obviously the dallas cowboys. Kicker had a great kicking session so that is nice to hear. He will handle the kicking duties. Bryan anger will be the cowboys. Punter this season bryan anger by the way fun. Fact was the inspiration for rich. Eisen famed punters people to rant back during the two thousand and twelve. Nfl draft but speaking of coordinators defensive coordinator. Dan quinn also spoke on thursday and he said that he is hopeful that molly hooker can make preseason debut on saturday against houston. Obviously we haven't seen yet in a game as a member of the dallas cowboys. And i really doubt that he would play next week against jacksonville. Obviously the cowboys are treating this game as their dress. Rehearsal and Going to of play down the roster bubble guys next week against jacksonville so this is kind of the last opportunity. I think to seem only cooker before we at least and we are that word it's appropriate. We're all hopeful about him. We're all excited. We're all anxious to see him play so hopefully he does find a way to get involved in the action now. We've talked special teams. We've talked to defense. That's kind of mash. Those two ideas together tweet from the fort worth star-telegram clarence hill junior on thursday. He's on twitter at clarence hill. Jr look for jalen smith and layton rush to get snaps on special teams. It's very interesting now. I don't wanna make a mountain out of a molehill or anything like that but you know a particular quarterback once said that football is a meritocracy and if we see some substantial special teams involvement by jalen smith end or late advantage it could be the dallas cowboys kind of prioritizing and putting things in their proper places because if you are starting linebackers in the nfl you were generally not playing all too much on special teams in fact in two thousand nine hundred and two thousand and twenty among players who played at least one hundred total snaps. Jalen smith lane vander. Were the two linebackers who played the fewest amount of time on special teams on the dallas cowboys. So it seems like that could be changing with the cowboys now. Having options like michael. Parsons like you know. Neil it does change the perspective because you know obviously if people have said a lot of things about jalen enlightened certainly over the last two ish years but the cowboys didn't really have options besides them and so now they but finally. I don't want to really read anything from this just because it was so fantastic. I know that calcium. You're gonna talk about it later on today on. Gt but on thursday sports illustrated's gregg bishop had a feature article that came out on dak. Prescott cannot recommend it enough seriously. One of the best things. I've read all year about dak. His spat with mental health. Who the loss of his brother how he and his family have you know powered through all these things. The injury contract. I mean just so well done if you are. Somehow someway still not convinced that this is the dude. I think that this will sell you. So is gregg bishop. Go check it out We shared it on the blog on the boys twitter. I tweeted it out too. If you need. They'll just let me know. And i'll get you because it is very very much worth reading so that about does it so scheduling update just because the game is tomorrow. You will have a new episode of girls talk and boys later on today. You will have a new episode of cowboys. Oy with modise surya's tomorrow morning to start your saturday. Obviously we'll have the post game show on saturday night. We will podcasts. That for you. That will be here all sunday. We'll have an ocho monday morning. "Anybody wants to get out. This team is going to play. This team is going the playoffs. The giants went on a five game winning streak. They win the nfc east. They ripped through that of see. Get to the super bowl. They get wiped greg by the ravens but fossil hung around for a few more years after that had a nice run with new york. Giants passes away at the age of seventy one very sad recipes. A memorable press conference moment because he got booed off the field right before that they had just lost two straight games and he was like the enemy of the town set to make that speech in that moment and to not lose a game again until the super bowl is a moment you'll always be remembered for. He had an amazing career. I mean he was john elway as coach in denver and elway said he would never have been the same player if it wasn't for john fossil. And what's that such a likable guy. And also the new york media is so different. I would phillies media in there too. But that part of the country the giants lost two games to the rams and the lions and fell to seven and four. You're not falling off the earth at that point and he was being savaged. I think he was a bit of an easy target. Because he wasn't a bill parcells type personality ourselves guests such a long shadow blue in the rate hanley hanley basically was not you know. Put out there to get destroyed but facile. I mean he won coach of the year in ninety seven and they had a couple of down your stupid two thousand year. I thought like you said was his high point and something about that day we we grew up at wfan. I'll never forget that. I was running errands and driving around listening to mike and the mad dog right after that kind of press conference blew up and it was a peak moment on wfan because it was so counterculture. How fossil behaved that. Mike and the mad dog. We're doing the best. They could with it. But i ran errands for another two hours just driving around listening to this because it was one of those moments in giants history. That was memorable and he was really a wonderful coach for them and gets kind of forgotten i think in the is he never got another coaching job right. His son of course bones fossil is with the cowboys now as special teams coordinator. Who was the rams of before that. He's not with a minicamp cowboys camp this week because of his father's death but he's a really good coach and a guy on the rise too so i think it's interesting too that he led the giants to playoffs in his first season as a head coach in three of his seven seasons as a head coach. And if you go back six years prior to him getting to new york. They had only made the playoffs one time so he lacked the giants now right exactly so he led the giants to double digit. Wins three different seasons. And the coaches to do a better job with giants. Were tom coughlin. And bill parcells so yeah he is one of the greats there he also drafted tiki barber. Who i hate it. And he was there for that summit fifty he barbara her horrendous fumbling problem and credited with helping fixes anyway jim fossil breast the piece. It is a little bit of a mortality reminder when these late nineties two thousand guys pass away because we were all very young and they seem to be so full life so very sad and our hearts go out to the fossil family. That's what's happening in the. Oh no we got a little odds and ends before we do we do we do co. Shall we are we going to do it. Are we going to break out the song. Do it all right here. We go ends odds and ends everybody. Tell your friends. Because it's an and now i just have to like about like hoti get it right so i mean without without the backing music track in a live. Venue with other music pumping behind you. I haven't done it in eighteen months probably just off. You're more of a pro than when you first started the offense. The negative negative. "Johns was underrated as a cowboy. It is incredibly difficult to be underrated while. Remember the dallas cowboys. But it still did happen to chris jones But the cowboys held on way too long. They do with way too many people he got hurt. they went with hunter nicewander. Who only played in eight games in his nfl career. All with the dallas cowboys. John fossil said last week. Obviously before this week That brian anger who the guy was signed. This offseason Looks like the favourite to win the job. Brian anger a fun. Fact if any of your ever on jeopardy are playing pub trivia or anything like that was the punter who was drafted in the third round by the jacksonville jaguars. That's caused rich eisen to coin. His famed punters are people to comment. but still bryan anger while a veteran in the nfl. Not somebody that. I can feel comfortable enough putting on this list. Chess way wins in a landslide. I mean seriously. Like how is this. Competition mandalorian bilgee. Yeah yeah. This is way really like how you're dropping jeopardy references now when you never watched the show before i mean i have watched honestly seriously every episode since aaron rodgers hosted and i've enjoyed all of the different hosts. It's been fun. It's been interesting expense. I feel wiser and more stoop. Yes you are corrected to show ticker i want to say. It's not the cowboys. Kicker spoiler alert. it's you know what. I'll have a question for you but it is graham gano but go ahead. I mean it's as simple like he missed. One field goal last year knows from ninety six point. Nine field goal percents ninety one point. Three extra point percentage. Compared to greg's our line he was eighty two point nine years at ninety. One point seven for extra point Jake elliott has not been good so it can't be him. Dustin hopkins says not good so he can't be him. It's graham gano jake. Elliott to me is a classic example of life a great moment that people always reference and and then use that to care for the player like the game winner against the giants in two thousand seventeen early on that shaw. That's all anyone can ever remember any eagles fan. I presume which is why they are refusing to let go of him It's a symptom. We need a name that symptom thing that happens to football fans all the time. That's unfortunate. I am just in a general sense i am up on. Greg's are actually wrote about this recently. If if if. I do think i mean. He attempted more goals in anybody last year. And he was as far as his career is concerned suspiciously down from downtown. But i believe he attempted nine field goals from fifty plus rains. That's a lot I don't think the cowboys will have to settle for as many shovels. He attempted by the way more field goals than anybody in the nfl last year. so logic suggests that that will be down So i with you. It's graham gano again if you go what. He was thirty one of thirty two. I believe i mean you. You win this honour. So the giants didn't have a big presence on our all indices team. But they're coming up. Strongly have kicker. But i had a question for you biaggi. It's about kickers. This is more of a philosophical thing. I've written about it before As it pertains dan bailey. At the time. I am completely against kickers being your kickoff kicker. I don't think that would be the case ever because and this was again this was kind of four years ago. I did a deeper dive on dan specifically but you think about all that energy that they are using on kickoffs especially at the time you know. Dan bailey's if you want a really good offense at a lot of kickoff and that's just the kickoffs in games you've got practice kickoffs like i know i'm getting kind of nitty gritty here. But if you're an elite offensive weapon which dan bailey was and we're being totally serious here. Why would you not want to isolate the energy for the kicks that matter. You know what. I mean the new tiring out your partner. Who would you rather fire up. I mean the kickoff i mean. How many punters kickoff in the nfl. I mean it's it's like what less than fewer than ten probably i was thinking about digits. Yeah okay yeah. So i dunno hasn't been a big to this point. I do think it's interesting when punters do it. And i think someone are probably more equipped to do. Especially when you're looking at notre guy the i don't think like robbie gold if if he's still taking right i don't think like he does that. I think sometimes you know to preserve an order player. Maybe it makes more sensitive to young guy come on. They're barely barely out there anyway. They're only by in like a few snaps per game. They can handle it. It's fine there being millions of. Yeah i mean. I'm not trying to say like the difference between a super bowl team. A non super bowl team. But it's just it's an interesting exercise no pun intended. I think that should be should be talked about saying like i would like to have this conversation with john. Harbaugh special teams master. Certainly with his time with the worst franchise in the nfl. But anyway it is what it is. So we've got tress way graham gano. You were very excited to talk about the long snapper on the all. Nfc east team. And so i'll give you the stage seconds kind of make your case and i'll make mine i. I believe we spoke about this on the first volume of the mix tape the cowboys cut. Lp ladder this offseason who Was their longest tenured player and the reason for that that a lot of cowboys fans tin foil hat believe in case anybody forgot is because this season he would have passed..

"I think we've got a great staff and place and I think that's gonna play out. As the season goes, You're going to see the skill with these coaches. And with this football team, Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones that was a little over a month ago, seeing that glass half full instead of half empty. With a team that's four and nine right now, in last place in the division, just three games to go Good morning from W B A P Sports chess Games. He blamed the front office dealing with a lot of questions about Why is this team so bad? Some of the finger pointing has been a head coach Mike McCarthy or Seaman said on Monday. They will not be moving on from McCarthy when this season comes to an end. And yesterday, Jerry Jones Jumped into the conversation on his radio show, saying, I've been known to stick with these guys in early troubled times on. I don't understand frankly, how ridiculous this conversation is, in terms of ever having any meat on the bone. Jerry him. You watch the team. Hey, says he loves special teams coordinator John Fossil, but didn't say anything about defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, who many believe has tried to do too much schematically this year, installing the defense in the off season. Where there really wasn't off season because of covert 19 Jerry's place, a TNT stadium in Arlington will have fans this Sunday for games against the 40 Niners. The place will also be busy on Saturday afternoon, where the Big 12 championship will be decided between the Oklahoma And Iowa State, and he gets started today the U L hosting some of their playoff games. "With under five minutes to play in regulation. And the record over the last 20 years for teams leading by 15, or more in the final five minutes of a football game was 1875 and six until yesterday. Make that seven. And the onside kick. Albert Breer, You're just tuning in. From Monday morning quarterback dot com dot com gave us a great story about the backstory on that onside kick, essentially Greg's airline and John Fossil. The special teams coordinator for the Cowboys, came up with this when they were together with the Rams last year. And they said since they changed the rules on onside kick you have to, you know. Maybe make the team make a decision isn't going to go 10 yards and you pounce on it right? Or do you just let it be? Well, no matter what, once against, about eight followed a damn bomb. They didn't And the next thing you know, history was made. I wholeheartedly disagree with him, But I don't know who the hell do you think you're talking to? I saw the Jets as a 1 15 team in 1996. I saw the Tampa Bay Buccaneers team their first season where that organization lost their 1st 26 games. There have been no dumber teams than those two teams in the modern era of the National Football League, asked any Jets van about one in 15 1996. The Falcons with dumb for one play. That tea was collectively stupid for a whole season. Collectively, the temporary Buccaneers there first thing hat As we know talent, they went, even the bad news bears a football. I don't even know what you call them. The Falcons with done for one play, and that's inexcusable. The Jets in 1996 were stupid for a whole season. "You'll be glad you did. And now my conversation with Michael embody who's written of really prescient book life in the NFL called gridiron genius. A lot of stuff in there about Bill Belichick. So Mike, what can Sean McVay learn from listening to gridiron genius? If a books on tape version in his car on the way to work, you know, I think what would Sean can learn is the makeup of Bill Belichick kind of what makes Bill Belichick tick how he'll prepare the team for the week the points of emphasis that he will make sure that his team understands and I think the whole relentless approach Bella check takes to each single game in terms of every single aspect offense defense and special teams. Bella check is not just running the defense or running the offense. He's running the entire team. And I think with gridiron genius talks about is how he sets up the game plan to incorporate all three phases of the game. And he plays complimentary football through all three phases of the game by the how they call. I think one of the greatest things that that I've. Experienced a my life is the Saturday night meetings. And I talk about it quite often. And gridiron genius were Bella check lays out how the game will go to the coaching staff and then prepares to coaching staff for the situations in the game on Saturday night before the game. So that they're fully prepared for on Sunday. And I think that's one of the things that Sean McVeigh not because he can't do it. But right now because he calls the offense and Wade Phillips calls a defense and John fossil runs. The special teams that eventually in his development is a head coach he will eventually get there. So much of this book centers on Bill Walsh and Bill Belichick. You you work for both of a Mike. So what do you think McVeigh could learn from wall, you know, Walsh is part of my life every single day. And he hasn't been around for an I haven't been around him since he's passed away. And you know, when you just go back and read. Finding the winning edge or the score takes care of itself. Sean indicated to you that he's read all the books on Walsh. But Walsh was more than just what you can read in the books whilst was creative in thought certainly because of the way he was able to develop the west coast offense in Cincinnati. But he was divergent thought. I mean, really the creativity of Walsh is really more divergent than creative because he took an existing problem. Like, how do I move the football with the Cincinnati Bengals and adapted. And I think that's one of the strengths of McVeigh is his ability to take an engineer the ram team backwards when he walks in the Los Angeles, you know, Jared Goff is the first pick over on the draft. He played in a. In a spread attack. He was in shotgun didn't really understand protections. And all that, and what McVeigh was able to do and it was calculating on how he built his football team terms of gotta left tackle that. He desperately needed some people thought they overpaid for the left tackle. But he needed that. He worked around the offensive line. He built a running game around Todd Gurley. And then he'll this allowed Jared Goff to run an offense that was much conducive to what he can do. It's not a straight dropback attack. They get double teams quite often. And what you see with Goth is his ability to throw the football and the pockets clean, and I think that McVeigh learn how to be different in his thought process. I mean, it would have been so easy for McVeigh to walk in and sent Los Angeles and say, I'm gonna run the west coast offense. But let's face it. Jared goff's not a west coast quarterback. And so what he did was develop an offense that tallied around. What? Goth can do..

"But he's number one in my heart. I t's it a little bit earlier. I'm going to go. Andrew Whitworth, your I can't. Oh, wow. It make. Would it make a left, but he is a big physical, dude? He's going to set the tone in this game in the run game. He's going to be called upon pass protection to be solo and get the job done. I'll go with bigwig here. I mean, that's that's nice. That's pretty go ahead who do you like this? So now, I'm torn because I'm trying to figure out do I want to another Pash restaurant want to impact will play two point of attack in the trenches won't someone to sexy into back in right now. I'm ago it sues indaba Ginsu is my pick. Right here. We go dominated a point of attack. I have Donald and a half. Sue, I am going all in on the LA Rams defensive front. He's my team Brooks looking good. All right. I like that one. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go defensive line as well. I'm gonna go with that. I'm I'm gonna tell you who book. I don't know if you have a full preciado for this guy's game. Because he is a very good player. I'm gonna Trey flowers right here. Trey flowers and give me some pass rush. He's domino at the point of attack in the run game. I think he's he might be the most underrated player in this game. And I will say this. I'll look right into the camera. Tell you Trey flowers going to get a sack in the Super Bowl book. And it's probably gonna come at a very pivotal moment. In the game, Trey flowers can find a way to make a play. Trey flowers. Wow. I mean, Trey flowers over keep to leave 'em Marcus Peters because I'm going to get one of his head sommes. I'm gonna take keep to leave with this pick. Because all the key to leave the always team. I thought you were I thought you were team Peters. I am takes a wolf to coach wolf pass on the wolf I'm not passing on him. He may be available later. I'm taking a came to leave because the team's leave is the leader. He is wanted to kinda gets it going look at the ship was a little rocky. But a key to leap comes back into defensive ship is now smooth, they're playing light. We thought they were play keep the league. He's a big player on the perimeter. I I like that pick. I like I would have gone to leave there as well. I'm gonna go. You wanna talk about steady? Eddie somebody who I think could have a big impact in this game. Underrated. I'm go Robert woods with my next pick here. Robert woods one of the best route runners in the NFL route running is going to be at a premium in this game, especially if he gets locked up with the with Gilmore, so I'm going to say Robert woods needs to have a big game. I'll take him. Okay. I mean, that's that's nice. But like where I'm at right now, I believe you really not valuing a crucial part of the game. And that is the kicking game. And so these guys are on sale because his buy one get a couple of free. I'm going to take Johnny Heckert Greg's airline. And John fossil. I've taken around special teams three I'm taking a random specialty specialties. I'm taking the ram specialties. We heard Bill Belichick wax poetic about how the ram special teams are explosive. They change games. They do all of that. One of those guys is going to be a pivotal playmaker. In this game. Get them all especially go ahead. I'm gonna go. I'm going to go because I'm going have book ends now, and I would not have stopped. This could happen before the season started that this guy could play at this high level hat tip of Dante scar neck you who's done a wonderful job. I'm gonna go Trent Brown with my next picks. Now, I got book ins to block your pass rushers. Trent Brown is massive human being and has played really really consistently good football here for the patriots. So that's my that's my pick their eighteen to more picks left buck. You're gonna get any forty five hundred special. Yeah. Me I'm as well. Getting everybody packages. I'm getting everybody in packages. I'm remortgage Peter's where he needed to go to keep the leap..

"And so I had to tell them listen, they're gonna go regardless then this is huge. So you get McVay to write him a plea. You know, an excuse letter. He has a lot going on. I mean, so they could write it for him. And just shove it in front of them and say just sign it. I probably shouldn't for you. Yeah. He's like that. I think he would but the principal. So how big it was. And it was like, it's all good. Okay. That's great. So what does this school think think think they are educators deal? Whatever your kids are going to learn this week. They're never going to remember their remember for the rest of their lives spending a week with their dad at the Super Bowl. I think that's what the principal said. So that's why I was like you. You're just going to be that parent at school. Nobody wants around you'd better learn because I speak logic and truth. It's I don't think there's a lot of that is some school. So I told this story earlier this week. About the flight that I was on with CARA Henderson now. Cara Henderson, Snead my longtime friend good friend from SPN. And then we helped launch NFL network together. She was on the first ever total access fascinating enough. She was pregnant with her now high school age son interviewing Tom Brady at the Super Bowl in Houston after they beat the Carolina Panthers. And now here we go watching the ram. She's now married to less need any rate. She said, let's you know, if you wanna fly back from Seattle game in Seattle the Thursday night game in two thousand sixteen and I went through the Rams, sure. Enough sat next to her in that plane flight was a morgue. They got blown out by three scores. Jared Goff is still been winless as a starting quarterback. They had fired Jeff Fisher earlier in the week short week. It was John fossil now special teams coordinator and the plane wrought flight was. Morgue Chris across the aisle for me was MAURICE Jones, drew. Oh. And DeMarco far does the broadcast with you as well as Saint Louis ram champion DeMarco far he was right next to you. Nobody on that plane in a million years thought that you were anywhere near a Super Bowl thirty six games from SuperBowl. If I told you on that flight that you're thirty six games away from the Super Bowl not only that though the rest of the league would be trying to mimic what the Rams were cooking. What if I told you that probably would've been like our pre sheet, all the the kindness Pickus up. But will you know, probably not as is never know what was going to happen after after that game. But you know, I think the Rams brass at a great job identifying coz McVay, and the story behind that is that they didn't think that he might not have been they were like, well, he may not be ready now. But when he is ready, we won't be a chance to get them. And so they took a real big chance on him and his worked out. And you know, he's a dress them these they really they had at the left tackle position. Receiver position challenge. All those players would be better. And and it's it's been a story ever since. What does he do? I mean. Because again, I my top ten storyline. Super Bowl fifty three. He's one and two storyline. Number two him versus Bella check. But number one is anything McVeigh. What does he do when you see this person? What does he do for ramps? That difference maker the first time I met him. He was like, hey MAURICE. Let's go out to dinner. Let's talk, and I was like that's this is, you know, Greenwich younger than I am. But he was kind of like he was cool. He's he's one of the guy. He's like that friend that everyone follows in a way where he's going to tell you, what's right and wrong. But also he's going to have you're going to enjoy those moments..

So we're waiting for the baseball hall of fame stuff to command. We're in the middle of Super Bowl, preparations and this. I think is interesting John. The way, and I gotta give credit and at some point in the next two weeks. We gotta get less need. Okay. Because if you look at the last four years listen to the additions that less need made twenty fourteen draft first round pick. Aaron Donald twenty fifteen first-round pick Todd Gurley 2016 trade up. This is the big trade up Jared Goff twenty seventeen Sean McVay, those are the additions the last four years. Those are the building blocks of the organization and those were very very smart decisions on the way up. I think that's one of the things that the Rams should get credit for a lot of credit is their ability to draft. And there are now I'm going to throw a flying. You're okay. I'm going to read a headline. Let me let me finish before. You react test. Got here is the headline written by somebody named Josh hill on fan cited three hours ago. Jeff Fisher legitimately deserves credit for the Rams Super Bowl run. Here's his argument like it or not of the players heading. To the Super Bowl for LA nineteen or drafted signed or traded for by Fisher in his five years with the team fishers draft classes produced twelve starters which accounts for roughly half of the starting roster and sixteen Pro Bowl selections three pillars of the teams identity Jared Goff Todd Gurley and Aaron Donald we're all Fisher picks over half. The starters of the Rams fro shes defense where put in place by Fisher, including two undrafted free agents who ascended to starting roles Steve does Jeff Fisher, get some credit. His fingerprints are on the team. I mean, I still think less need is the general manager. I'm sure that Jeff Fisher contributed in those decisions. But I mean the buck stopped with lessening let me continue in speaking of undrafted free agents. Fisher was meticulous in seeing talent. In guys. No one else in the league wanted Cory Littleton was cast aside by thirty one other teams, but Eric Dickerson's favorite head coach. Ch- brought him in. And now he's a Pro Bowl starting linebacker. Matt longacre went undrafted in twenty fifteen three years later. He's going to be starting in the middle of one of the best defences when it takes the field at the Super Bowl. Fisher was also involved with bringing in Greg's arline Johnny Hecker, perhaps the best special teams tandem in the league as well as hiring John fossil to run it. All okay. So this becomes a question of I'm assuming that less need had all the power. I think as I he's still here, and Jeff is gone, right?.

Fisher was also involved with bringing in Greg's arline Johnny Hecker, perhaps the best special teams tandem in the league as well as hiring John fossil to run it..

"So he's deadly thrown seven touchdown passes over twenty yards. So I think you gotta be really careful here in terms of of over emphasize in that, do you think it's going to be a deep throw probably not, you know, and I'm sure Sean Payton's to try to stretch it a little bit and tell drew to just heave it. But the other thing is I think you made a great point about tasting hills. I think this game is going to have trickery in both sides of the ball. I think the patriots typically always we'll have some. Trickery? And I think Sean Payton will and I think Sean McVay will as well. This is the final note that we'll do on this game. And it comes down to the coaching. And it said flow bit of, you know, looking at both sides of their it's it's the young upstart with Sean Payton used to be is what sort of Sean McVay is at this point. But I remember after the first game when the Rams loss in the post game. Sean McVeigh said this, quote, he said sometimes setbacks or setups for comebacks in. This was obviously the first loss of the season. They took forty five to thirty five. And it seemed like Sean McVeigh was very set on the fact that there would be another meeting between these two teams in a chance for this Rams team. Do be able to get some sort of revenge on the saints, and Sean Payton is obviously a guy that now has become a season vet as a coach but used to be the young upstart young high coach that everyone wanted to talk about is there any sort of advantage that you see in this game. Whether it be on the Sean Payton sign or the Sean McVay side may be McVeigh's. Again, that's willing to take more changes because he is the young guy that has to prove himself a little bit. Even though Now Sean Payton is kinda falling into that Bella check roller. He's been around the block. A little bit of me. Is there some sort of advantage? You seem between those two coaches on both sides. I think 'cause Wade's there. I think in certainly the really good in the kicking game. I mean, John fossil does a great job in the kicking game for the Rams. So I don't really I think both teams will really adjust the one thing about the Rams that hasn't been the cases. If is they can kind of get away from where they are based on how you set your front, and if they do a good job in that area. You know, if the saints can take away the run game or get ahead. And this becomes a all pass game. I think the key element. Here is going to be can the saints duplicate. What the Choi did what Chicago did in those two games where they were able to really hold them. They forced six turnovers in those two games. Can they force Jared Goff to play where he feels a sense of urgency where he's got play fast. If they make Goth play fast. I'm not sure there's anything McVeigh can do to help that if they don't make them play fast. And he's able to throw the ball to wide open receivers. Like he did the first game. Then I think it's problematic for the saints. But looked for me I like the saints in this game. I think it'll be a close game. Are they going to be probably a field goal type game? I I'm not going to take the Rams and the points. I think is a pickup game. I'm gonna go with the saints here. Because homefield does matter I really think it matters. And I think it's going to be problematic. I know the Rams are good on offense. But I think they have some deficiencies defensively, I think they'll show up and Sean Payton will utilize that great screen package the Bob shneltsa screen package. And I think he'll make some plays with Kamara in that area. And you know, we saw later later in this game against the eagles. As sorta got worn down. You know that rushing attack the two headed Mosser between Ingram and chimera sorted started to get role on a little bit later in the game. So that obviously something to keep an eye on to see if they can wear down that Rams front a little bit and be able to buy into that screen packages and be able to get Camaro involved in the passing game a little bit with drew Brees..

"Now that the Rams did win a playoff game. And there are one win away from going to the Super Bowl. I don't have anything against Sean McDermott guys done a great job tremendous. It's just that the way this latest coaching hire has gone hiring period has gone. It's been all about how do you know? Sean McVeigh, Sean McVay ever sneezed on you. Did you underserve Sean McVeigh? Right. So it is a little bit in a little bit of nachos. Everybody's looking for that guy. Basically Vic Fangio kind of everybody's higher has been similar to like, oh is this going to be the next Sean McVeigh? Well, Bruce Arians. That's true. My guy with McVeigh did because let's not forget three years ago when Jeff Fisher was the coach and the LA Rams, right? And ended up getting fired. I think John fossil was the temporary head coach. They were the worst offense in the NFL. Todd Gurley was on that team. Jared Goff was a rookie. There were some similar pieces to what they already had McVay takes over. They go out and they signed Whitworth left tackle they put weapons around Jared Goff. Girly takes his game to another level. And they went from thirty second and offense to I. So that's a pretty big change. Yeah. I would say from twentieth to fifth. They went from literally the worst to the best. So McVay deserves a ton of credit for that. And here they are one win away from getting a Super Bowl with Jared Goff quarterback could be very interesting game. Various should be Ozzy in woodridge is is he. What's up? Speaking of ginger coaches, how about my junior genius Garrett with five twenty left to go in the third and Dallas had just scored make twenty three thirteen that dope. Sends out the extra point team. Yes. Yes. I was thinking. Reset the play clock. If they didn't reset the play clock. I would have fired him right there. What was he thinking at that point? Like was he in first second was at the problem Garin headlights when he was the play quality was the same way. He I star on kicker in Arizona for goodness sakes. So he's.

"Off to the tune into the hands of George Lewis crossing the fifteen and then gets slammed into as he approaches the eighteen yard line some much. They're just thirteen yards on the return Troy hill coming down on special teams coverage. So that's a win. This is a. Ran teams special teams unit led by. The young fossil. It is for a name synonymous in football. You look at John fossil his father, Jim. But they are great special teams unit as well. Dang. Yeah. They are they do run a lot of fakes and walk a lot of punch so very very good. Well, coached specialty Judy. Backrest got stepping across now moving Amari Cooper inside the numbers. Single back set on bootleg rolling, right? Throws back across the middle class. White thirty two crossing the thirty five and drags it offender out near the thirty seven yard line. Lamarcus Joyner sports free safety at a Florida state wraps him up, but not before a twenty yard pickup or you could see the defense and how much attention the one game has gotten because the play action for both quarterbacks has really pay dividends. Well, when you've got a running game like these teams have the play action. Passes ought to be good job that time by Prescott going down the field not taking Wasi who's right in front of receivers nearside stress. Play running Elliott fully tries to get a shoulder squared. And he does the result of the defender spinning him around. That's the inside linebacker poor little thin as Elliot picks up three yards on a Kerry coming off of that twenty six. Attempt. One hundred and thirty seven yard washing day last week. Had touchdown reception as well to playoff games over a hundred and twenty five yards rushing in each game. Three Zeke Elliott, what's really this. We're to be hard earned tonight. Pooper breaks up the formations. What's outside the numbers on the right side? Cigarettes Seabra here, the nearside quick throw receiver screen, and that will get blown up immediately. Racing to the outside was Michael blockers who got out of his defensive end spot and look like a forty yard dash out there as he drops it for a two yard loss. Now sets up third and nine now that was a played at dot should've gotten out of the ability to or not, but the Rams to the linebacker out there over the bunch formation. There was a. Our players in the box have the ability to go to a run. We saw him run that play last week with a similar result. Three receiver here on the left side. Four man rush pocket breaks down. He steps up steps away for the defender passing back across his body trying to find Michael Gallup across midfield. But it was Dante Fowler there. The break it up as deck Prescott. Just a boarding the sack is both Donna could sue and Aaron Donald bearing down on the Cowboys quarterback in so Dallas will now have to punted away. Well, it's hard to throw ball accurately when he got Dahmer consuming hanging onto your waist Carter step into the throat. Trudeau NATs and is back to you receive standing eighties thirteen Jones reported on the twenty four. They came closely wapner without the twenty four skip sideways. Have been mellow. We said this is a terrific special teams unit by John fossil. But Jones is able to kick it away eleven twenty to play here when the first task Cowboys on top of the Rams seven six LA football. When we come back more accurate in the field up next. You're listening to compass media networks, this is the NFL NBR's succeeding.
