"Following people who agree with everything you think and all that stuff. But in this case, you have a lot of football media people who are pretty impartial. A lot of people who are watching and current players and former players in everyone was saying the same thing. Do not keep playing. And there's no way they didn't have somebody. I don't think Gadot was looking at it, but there's no way somebody that didn't report directly to him wasn't like, I'm going to look at Twitter to see what people think. And when it's a 100%, people are like, stop this, no more. Don't play tonight. That had to affect what they thought. But I think you're right. I think in two 1009, thank you playing. Totally. I do. Are they at least go out there back on the field and start, but like these two guys and it's funny it's these two guys because I've always I talked to these, we know we did flying coach together and you know I get laughed at a little bit when I'm like, oh, I'm Friends with this coach, but one of the things I do in my job is I'm one of the guys who actually talks to the coaches and it's not just on X's and O's 'cause I can't speak that the way that I'd love to speak that. I just can't. So it's a lot of human stuff and it's storylines and whether you're a listener and you like that or you don't like that, it's fine, but one of the things I've said about these two guys always is that, you know, in game management and you and I have talked about especially Zack Taylor. Trent Taylor and an end around against Kansas City when it's fourth and one and but and after a Kingsbury in this mix, I'll throw a lot of the coaches that everyone says get rid of these guys like emotionally and I think on a humanity level like they really connect with their players. You know, cliff had a guy on his team, a player, unfortunately passed away this summer. And it's like, okay, I gotta go to work the next day and kind of talk with it. And it's more open and honest and vulnerable. And hey, let's not take out the balls today. Let's discuss how we feel. And that is impossible to imagine 15 years ago. Impossible. That McDermott would say, we got the Patriots on Sunday, but let's not worry about that. We've got mental health specialists and we've got multiple doctors that are on hand. And if you have someone to talk about, talk about it. I thought New York Giants was really interesting. You know, Joe Shane and dabel, Joe Shane helped draft Hamlin last year. Dabel was a coach last year in Buffalo. And they brought over Isaiah Hodgins, who's having a great season. Matt Breda, who's been great, John Feliciano. All these ex Nick mccloud who's in the same room. There's like 7 X bills on the giant, so dabel started off yesterday. If I say we're not talking football, we're not doing it a bit like let's have a little round table discussion and everybody just we're here for each other and I love that. I think that is what should be going on and whether it's in your workplace or whether it's in professional work. It's taken a long time and maybe it's maybe it's post pandemic, maybe it's social media, maybe it's whatever, but I think football really did take a back seat to the mental health of this whole thing and now they're told, all right, it's gotta click in and I'm curious to see the output on the field on Sunday. Totally different situation, but I remember after 9 11, even three days after it was like, are we ever going to have ever going to have sports

"Very much It's now 6 36 on Wall Street That's time for the Bloomberg sports update and here's John stat showing All right John no secret the Giants need to improve their offensive line They don't have a lot of salary cap space but I'm opening day of free agency They did add two offensive lineman Mark Lewinsky had been a starting guard with Indianapolis and center John Feliciano who was with buffalo another guard Lake and Tomlinson He's joining the jets coming from the forty-niners jets also got tight end CJ azuma from Cincinnati They reached on Braxton barrios who was an all pro last season as a kick returner tight end Evan engram leaving the Giants He was once their first round draft pick he's headed to Jacksonville Josh Donaldson joined the Yankees in Tampa the day after the big trade last year Donaldson while with the twins accused his now teammate Garrett Cole of using sticky stuff to help doctor the ball cold and stuck Donaldson out three times Whatever happened Obviously he felt like it was a better idea to probably strike me out but she did a few times So at the end of the day I'm happy to be on the same team And I have to strike out against him more Yankees have been in talks with Oakland about acquiring first baseman Matt Olson He's instead headed to Atlanta which means Freddie Freeman will likely not resign with the brave Nets way tonight in Orlando the unvaccinated Kyrie Irving couldn't play but did attend Sunday's home game also went into the nets locker room for doing that sitting in New York find the nets $50,000 Cameron Smith won The Rain delayed players championship golf in Florida by one shot John stash that one Bloomberg sports John All right John thanks a lot It is now 6 37 on Wall Street and that brings us to stocks and some of the names that are moving in the pre market this morning for that we're joined by Bloomberg radio and TV markets correspondent Gupta fresh offer 12 hour nap Fresh off my 12 hour nap folks I got so much sleep You're so refreshed So great Not to brag on a Tuesday but here we are You are seeing some futures higher when it comes to the NASDAQ 100 The S&P features kind of flat But underneath the hood only 16 stocks are actually higher in the pre market So that does tell you that there is looks like to be a little bit of pain here at the opening Let's talk about what is moving to the upside and that of course is going to be this airlines Delta coming out seeing one quarter or first quarter revenue excuse me about 78% recovered compared to 2019 levels That's a big deal because their previous view was 72 to 76% but that news is pulling up delta shares da L is your ticker up 1.1% in the pre market It's also pulling up the other airlines with it southwest for example LUV your ticker up 1% in the pre market UAL is for united up 7 tenths of 1% Even American Airlines catching a little bit of a bid here up four tenths of a percent AAL is your ticket there That's unusual on a day that's pretty risk off to see the airlines actually outperforming also keep in mind you are seeing some moves to the upside and the defense spaces a Lockheed Martin LMT is your ticker up four tenths of a person This looks like a continued bid from yesterday after Germany said it would purchase Lockheed Martin's F-35 warplanes as well as €15 fighters of course we know it is upgrading its military response creating a budget of a $110 billion to modernize its armed forces Of course on the back of Russia's invasion of Ukraine So you are seeing those defense names take a leg higher as well LMT like I said up four tenths of a percent But then there are some downside stories and we should stick to this Those downside stories for example are a lot of the oil companies Occidental zero XY is your worst performer this morning down 4.9% and with it some of those other oil names this really comes back on the idea of lower oil prices perhaps coming back on the idea of the China lockdown in Shenzhen This morning 97 24 is so under a $100 a barrel Ugly morning overnight in the Asian session Very ugly morning and once again it comes down to those COVID restrictions that they're putting in zero COVID policy It also comes down with some kind of concerns that perhaps China is the next country to be sanctioned just because of their ties to Russia and you're seeing that show up in those U.S. listed Chinese stocks The likes of Alibaba for example BAB as your tigger for the ADRs down 6 and a half percent in the pre market JD as well JD is also the ticker Also declining four and a half percent So keep an eye on those ADRs That's where you're seeing a lot of pain Yeah we were asking the question M live I should say was asking the questions My former employer Yeah And where are all the dip buyers Because they've jumped in since 2018 and so you know one of the questions to mold this morning as the NASDAQ futures turn green up 12 points right now Pretty Gupta from our markets team S&P futures right now two points lower and the NASDAQ the.

"It's in. Second one. By the way, how about our Deandre swift bet last week? Three carries zero yards. How many texts did you get? And FanDuel was like the day before they boost it. They make Deandre swift the number they were like, oh, good news. We boosted the swift bet. We somehow put them alloy on them. He was done. We basically for the horse head on his bed. He maybe got hurt. I don't know. I guess I'm carry a ball. He was already hurt. I walked away from the TV for two minutes that I see Jamal Williams getting like 5 carries in a row. I'm like, what's going on here? Unbelievable. Next one. Remember Minnesota and Dallas? Yeah. Well, we're bringing them back for a second piece. We're going to put them with the New England Patriots. Monday night games. We're waiting on this one. Monday night game, pat's plus two and a half. Gonna bring them to 8 and a half. Okay. I think it's a one score game either way. I'm just gonna make my case quickly. I think the Patriots are better. They have better coach. I think they're more well rounded. More importantly, I think they're tougher. I think they can bully ball the bills a little bit. Obviously scared Alan. No way. They lose weight last week, buffalo. Best guy in the team? Defensively, at least. They're getting some offensive line stuff back. Feliciano looks like he's coming back. But you're a big John Feliciano guy. Yeah, he'd say, he's good. Like, there's some good stats for him. But I just think the Pats are really good. This'll be Belichick has such a great history against buffalo, which went south last year for one year, but now it's back. I think they have a better team. I love that I can get points. If I can get this 8 and a half and it's a one score game, here's my fear. I'm gonna put it out on the table right now. We talk about our fears for a $1 million picks. It's a rookie QB on a Monday night. On the road. On the road. He could single handly submarine it back. Now, I went back, I looked at Wilson. He had his one shit game as a rookie. Roethlisberger had a couple shit games, but Pittsburgh was so good that year. They could win 13 7. Yeah. But they'd have he'd have games where he'd have zero to these two picks and they'd win 19 and 7. Like it almost didn't. It was a bonus if he played well. Max somewhere between those two worlds, right? It's a bonus if he plays well with the Pats, but they also he can't do those Roethlisberger games. If he's zero TDs and two picks, you're not gonna they're probably gonna lose. He's actually weirdly important to them. So that would be my fear. But I just like this past stamp and we've been riding them every week and somehow not winning money from them because we keep putting them in dumb teases. But in this case, the plus 8 and a half. So that marked that one down. Minnesota Dallas paths, then a third one that the paths are also going to be in. Standard, you can do 9 point teases. Minus one 15 are the odds. Paths to 11 and a half. 11 is the key number because once you get past that, basically, games are never 12, 13 points. It's always like 11 or 14. Pat's 11 half. The chiefs down to 0.5. Let's just have to beat the Broncos and arrowhead. Just have to beat the Broncos and arrowhead. I think they can do that. The bucks against Atlanta down to minus two. There is a split second where I was afraid of Atlanta in this game. Atlanta has four 20 point plus losses this year. Elena's 5 and 6, they beat Jacksonville, both New York teams, New Orleans and Miami, not impressive. Do you know whose last in DVO, Atlanta, is it the falcons, really? I was stunned. Would you have guessed that a million? Yeah. Yeah. You know who's first in DVO at Tampa? So you're telling me I can throw this in a tease. I'm getting the number one team in after 12 weeks against number 32. And they just have to win by a field goal. Feel pretty comfortable. Feel good. I mean, how good was Gronk last week? I wish they had brown. I still, but Brock looked like he was unbelievable. One 23, I think. And for that, for when it was great, great. What about our guy? Our Super Bowl hero. It's okay. He said he said moist Jersey. Yeah. Healthy? They were hoping that he would get fully healthy. We're gonna have to see game time decision, but out there. I can't tell you about Devin though. I don't know. All right. So what do you think chiefs, bucks, pats, bucks, pats all the way to 11 and a half bucks have to win by a field goal, chiefs have to win by one. I'm in on it. Let's go. Okay. All right, individual games. How you feeling about Bengals chargers? Bengals minus three in cincy make the case for one or the other. Okay, the case for Cincinnati is that they've kicked the shit out of teams the last 6 quarters. They're feeling themselves. The case against Cincinnati is that everyone is feeling Cincinnati. The last time they were given their roses and their bouquets, they lost to the jets. We've done this before. Less than three weeks ago, we crowned the Bengals. And they beat the crap out of the Raiders second half and then just did what they did to the Steelers. They're at home, this fan base is not had a game like this in years. Could you see Herbert coming in there and just slice them that defense up? Potentially. I would maybe stay away and yet they're really fun to root for. They're dominating up at the line of scrimmage and borough doesn't seem to be ever phased.

"Also has a bit of an advantage built in if they don't take advantage. I think we have a I think we have some questions here. Well, there's there's two things about that. So we talked about this at length in the seven o'clock segment. You know, the Steelers offensive line might be in rough shape Might might have some questions. The Bills defensive line You know they're they're going to try to prove a point most of the season. Last year, they sacked Roethlisberger. One time on 37 drop backs and 37 passes. Times. I should say, I'm not sure if they're all If you would have scrambled once or twice, but His sack percentage last year was under 2% in terms of how many past attempts it takes to get to him. He does not get sacked a lot. The ball is out. So while you make the point about the offensive line the counter to that is what will Pittsburgh's plan B? There changed. They've changed their offensive coordinator. Maybe they're going to try deeper drops. Maybe going to try play action. Maybe we'll try. Help hold up long enough, so it might kind of be the perfect storm where they decide we can't run that kind of fast passing offense against the bills that didn't work last time. It's not going to work against this group. And try to put him into positions of deeper drops and hope the line holds up. So I I agree with you. I think it's the most fascinating part of this matchup is how the new Steelers offense looks what it looks like and how the defensive line can get there if they even have the time to If they can, if they can hold up, and they want Ben to throw a little deeper. That's a recipe to to to hurt the bills because I don't think the bills are going to be expecting that they're gonna expect to get to him quicker. They're probably expect some Quicker passes. Um, you know that that might be the challenge, but it could be exactly what it was last year. The Steelers did not throw the ball down the field last year, It was get the ball out. Ben didn't want to sit back there. He wanted to throw the ball early. Remember that? That was another big thing was. They had a lot of drops from receivers even on those short passes the first play in Buffalo. I think it was Deontay Johnson dropped the pass right in his hands like three yards off the line of scrimmage. And that was like, Oh, my God. This has been happening to this team, especially Johnson to he's been. He's battled that a lot. Yeah, And and I think they want to get back to running the ball a lot. Najee Harris, Right? I mean, I think they want to do that. I just don't know if I guess what I'm saying. Guys is this If the Steelers offense has success against the Bills offensive defensive line. We have some serious questions about this season because that's not supposed to happen. Sean McDermott said it last week to us when he spoke the last time he spoke. He basically said, And if I remember the way he phrased it was Writing about the defensive line is over. It's time to perform and look, that's the expectation for this unit. They need to go out there and play now. Sal with us on the Western Hotline. You've got two bills question. 80305 50 to join us. Sean McDermott will speak with the media at noon today. Sal. What injuries are there to monitor? Can you kind of refresh my memory about? Who might be coming up for discussion today. Starla Tulay is to me one of the bigger ones. He's missed a couple. The last couple of practices. Remember they've had a few days off. The last time they were on the field was Thursday. I believe right, and, um, he he had missed a couple of practices with a calf injury. I think that's the big one. The DBS It appears as though everybody is on the right track. I mean, even though Taron Johnson and Dean Jackson were wearing red jerseys, they were practicing, but New Jersey's and make sure you know and always explain to people. Red Jersey basically means it's a stop sign. Don't get too close to that guy. If you're on the field and running like it's a stop sign, be careful. He's dealing with something, but we want to make sure he gets everything he needs to get in here. Um, you know Levi Wallace. Good news. He wasn't in a Red jersey has just been practicing. I think great news that Harrison Phillips hasn't been in a Red jersey now. That doesn't mean he's going to be ready for week one. But I just think that that's a really good sign. Um, and then the other ones. I see Mackenzie again. Red Jersey They have a few of those guys. Is that the case this week to start the week with some of these guys? Um, I think that's that's one to monitor because who's your return, man? If it's not Isaiah, Isaiah can't go week one. You don't have Marquis Stevenson. He's on IR. He cannot play. So is that like a hide back there, right? I mean, because Brandon Paul is not on this team. He was released. I would think he's trending towards playing. But I would say Starla Tulay, Isaiah McKenzie, Harrison Phillips. Probably your Big three there. Would hide if they had to. If Mackenzie wasn't ready would hide handle both kick and punt returns. I know he can do punt returns. Would he handle kicks? Do you think tour where they don't have somebody? Oh, he's not been a kick returner. You know, you'd probably put someone back there like a Singletary A mosque. You know, someone like that, Um, to return to return Taiwan Jones can do something like that. You know, Um, I don't think that would be the case. I don't remember him. Every returning kicks butt. Would think that hide would be you know, in the mix, at least to be, um, to be the punt returner. You know, If you look at the team's depth chart, they only have one listed But returner Kick returner is Isaiah McKenzie. That's it. They don't have anybody listed behind, so I would think they would be an indication you go from. You have to pluck somebody else off the roster in the most likely candidate would be Micah Hyde, who Has done that. But again, like you said, Kick return. I don't think they put him in that position. You When you treated out the depth chart yesterday, you did make sure you mentioned it is unofficial. So don't look at the depth chart as Bible. But having said that anything you took away from the first step chart. Cody Ford still listed as a starting right guard. John Feliciano is a starting left guard my senses. It'll be like that. I would not be shocked if ICP Bucker starts like I think they're going to tinker with that a little bit to get the right combination..

Micah Hyde Deontay Johnson Sean McDermott Isaiah McKenzie Taron Johnson Levi Wallace Dean Jackson Cody Ford Brandon Paul Marquis Stevenson John Feliciano Roethlisberger Thursday Steelers Johnson Last year 80305 50 Ben yesterday Najee Harris

"Are we not talking about Maybe the other guys behind him enough and is that may be the most intense camp battle hard to find a position where you've got three guys that are all competent, tough to vie for one position. That's why I think we're not talking about that. That that battle enough Yeah, I think the offensive line I mean, when they re signed Feliciano and Darryl Williams. Certainly Milano was a part of that little group there. They resigned. I think everybody thought, Okay, They're just going to plug the same five guys back in. Don't think they're going to do that. I think the entire offensive line it may be saved. Maybe Dion Dawkins. Who played extremely well and that's such a premier position. You don't really want to plug somebody in there, but I think all five of those guys Feeling the heat Mhm and they know they've got to play well, because this is our coaching staff. They do not play favorites. You have got. That's why Brandon Beane, one of the things that McDermott and being have done so well as they bring it. I don't care what kind of year you had last year. Uh, You got to. You got to win it again. You really got to turn And that goes for Trey White to forget about Levi Wallace and Dane Jackson and those guys over there left corner or Cody Ford and And that means every position guy. This coaching staff gets the most out of their rosters because they keep the heat on everybody on the roster. They get guys that are highly motivated. Not only has left guard Cody Ford but also probably Mitch Morse. I'll bet you John Feliciano is going to be rotated in with Morse at center. If you've got a contract, it's big. You're going to have to earn it and you're going to get competition from guys who want your job job. And I think Yes, I agree with you. I think the offensive line is a big spot and left guard is a spot where there's going to be a lot of competition, but I don't think Truly Don't know that Darryl Williams, John Feliciano, Mitch Morris or automatics either. They brought in a ton of guys who have some chops in the NFL already, and then they drafted two guys that has some elite physical traits. As draft picks, so Yes, I think there's going to be a really competitive training camp this year. I think there's back when I came to. Like I said, there's a little on our show once in a while. I've said Back. When I came in the league, there was always this thing where there's always one guy during training camp. It was really a surprise release a surprise cut. Um, I could see that happening this year with the competition they brought in not only offensive line, but obviously the defensive line. The new draft picks at corner at all of these spots. There's some surprise releases during training camps because the team is smart enough to know They need depth and with depth comes competition that position So yeah, I agree with you. There are some guys who we've come to know and love over this last little stretch of great football that Really going to have to light a fire to keep their job. Steve Tasker. Of course. "What's your outlet? Ours is being late to talk to Sal. Good morning, Mr Camacho happy Wednesday. You too? No, it's OK. I've actually been tuned in for quite a while. Because I I want to be there for Howard picks the bills. You are so full of baloney. Would you rather do the pick the bill segment instead of no. No, that's okay. I'm fine. I'm good. I'll just listen to you could ghost it? You could just send me your pics. I won't tell anybody and I'll use them. That's actually maybe a new segment. You have a Howard picks The Bill Ghost pick via celebrity. Pretty of celebrity pickers, Not me like you could pick somebody you could pick people like like randomly text people or dm them and say if they want to be like like college Game day brings on a celebrity. There you go person every Saturday. Brilliant. You can do that, too brilliant. William Fichtner, Ron. Yeah. Yeah, He's a huge bills fan. All right, brilliant. All right. So what's up? We got in fighting. We got turmoil. These guys hate each other. What the hell is going on, Sal? Yeah. I mean, we're getting into the dog days of summer, I guess right, even though it's early summer yet for a couple of weeks, um, these things happen. Yeah, There was a fight yesterday at practice John Feliciano and AJ EPA Nesa get into it. Full disclosure and transparency. I actually had to step away from the practice field for a moment to do a radio interview station in Jacksonville. That had said Hey, can you go on? I'm like, Yeah, I'll be at practice, so I just Literally went outside the fence, and it happened while I was out there. Um, but I saw the commotion. I knew it was. I knew something was going on. And, um, I put a recap out of it from our buddy Matt Perino at our website and What he wrote Another media members who, uh, saw it was that fns ahead intercepted. Josh Allen ran it back to the end zone. Feliciano Chase them down, their words exchanged. Vanessa threw the ball back at him, and then punches were thrown and Feliciano then apparently went into the field house or whatever to cool off, but He was on Pat McAfee's show yesterday. Podcast. Um And he talked about it. And he said, Yeah, I mean, it happens and it's over, and it's done with and, you know, Iron sharpens iron, and we're just making each other better. You know all that stuff, So maybe the most interesting part for me. I mean, you know that will happen. Is epinephrine being the guy because I would imagine he feels like he has a lot to prove right about now. He also you've talked about it. He changed his body. He's got a full training camp. You know, Rookie seasons last year for any rookie might have been really tough and maybe for a guy that's supposed to be Quite a project. But whatever. He's got a career arc here, and he probably is out to prove something every single play and, you know, without speculating too much like that's maybe Feliciano is worried about his. Yeah, buddy, Relax. What does it mean to you that that's epinephrine that's involved there. Yeah, I thought it's I think it's interesting to me. It's a bit more of a story because it's him. Maybe Versus someone else. I don't know. Pick who it could have been even a guy like Daryl Johnson. Let's say who's been around like a Obata, who's been in the league a few years? Um, of course, if it's Jerry Hughes, you know you're like, Okay, this is you know, Jerry's got. He can get fiery at times, but Here's a guy that we hadn't heard much from. And I would say that most people because they haven't interacted. I mean, I've never physically met a J. F. Vanessa because of the pandemic. Anybody was new last year. We couldn't do that. It's all zoom. Would think he kind of comes across as having this kind of quiet disposition, right? I mean, a guy who you don't really Maybe if you could choose all of the defensive lineman that this could have happened with He'd probably be near the bottom of the list. Jeremy without knowing, And but that's what happened. So I agree with you. That becomes a bit more of a okay like you like to see something like that. And you know, it doesn't matter. No, I'm sure it doesn't for anything, but I do think it's interesting that it's that particular player who maybe you wouldn't expect something like that to happen with. So yeah, From that standpoint, it's pretty cool. On the flip side, Feliciano, you hear that? You're like, Well, yeah, that makes sense. I mean, of course, Feliciano. You might not expect to hear Dion Dawkins getting in a fight like that, Feliciano? Sure. Um, so you know, it's it's always lineman right in the history of camp fights. It's always like Ross Tucker. I don't know we get we get we get We get some receiver. DVD. Okay, TVs receivers sometimes, too. That's right. That's right. Remembers a Jones and Micah Hyde went at it a few years old. All right. I forgot about that one. Ross Tucker is one Who did he go with Howard was who was the defensive lineman? Oh, goodness. Wasn't Ruben Brown was it? I don't think so. No, it was a defensive tackle. Olive was Oliver. Not at Oliver Oliver something anyway. Ross Tucker. Uh, well, well, remember, like I would say in shop, and I were talking about this yesterday because Mike ask No. Will anybody even ever remember this and I said, Well, let's not forget. We still talk about Eric wouldn't Erin maven? Sometimes you do right and and because because Eric Wood You know, said something there maybe about, you know, go on your money or something. Something along the lines of it Almost. You know, it seems to me like there's always going to be at least I'm not always but a lot of times. There's at least one younger player, and this can How far away is this from Troy? Vincent Hitting JP Loss, man? Where? Hey, Rookie! Relax, You know Don't be a try hard too much out here, but the rookies have a fine line to walk because, of course, you know, but he's not a rookie. Well, he's not a rookie, but I'm saying young player, you know, second year. That's right. You're right. You're right. And when? When Aaron would Eric wouldn't did that with maven was that your one or you're too because I think it was Maybin's rookie year. I believe all right. That's still funny, but I think it going your money that's still that's hilarious. Something wasn't Was that the quote? I can't remember. I don't wanna put your generic Eric it was something like that. But anyway, you're right. Jeremy. I agree with you. Where, like there is this fine line between? Hey, I'm out here trying to make this team and earn my spot. Look at all these defensive lineman they brought in here. I'm in my second year. I didn't even I wasn't even active. My first game. My rookie year I got every single play. I'm going Hard as I can and doing everything I can to impress. And then you know, Feliciano, probably thinking you're not showing our quarterback up like that in practice. Yeah. I mean, this is our franchise guy like I'm not going to deal with that, right? So that's probably the mentality that goes into something like that where you're right. But I do I I do think it's interesting that it was epinephrine. So you know what it's going to force me to do is maybe pay attention More to epinephrine has this summer in training camp rolls on. Yeah, absolutely. And all of a sudden, from quiet, mild mannered to watch out. He'll snap, you know, or meaning police down and we knew would snapping..

"So basically a J. F Vanessa Picked off Josh Allen ran it back about 20 to 30 yards. If that, and John Feliciano was upset about something that happened there, and he said something, and Vanessa fling the ball at him and Feliciano and him went at it, so it was as as Matt wrote up and you can go check this out of New York upstate dot com. Words were exchanged. UNEP. Inessa threw the ball at Feliciano, who then appeared to throw a punch. Before a crowd gathered in the two were pulled apart, Feliciano ripped off his own helmet and walked off the field and into the facility to cool off. Yeah. All right. Well, I guess I think with these fights, I mean, you've seen your share over the years, I think You can make of it. Whatever you want, right? You can, you can make of it that there is like it's a It's a good sign or a bed sign. Uh, you know, Feliciano sort of thing I met interview you mentioned that you would hear most of the time, I think which is like, Yeah, just state. It's over. Now. We just settled it there. It's over now. Um, is it Is it something you think you'll ever think about again after today? No, I mean, you know, I wouldn't be so sure about that, Mike. Maybe because we still talk sometimes about Eric would end up And, um Aaron maven and Eric would yelling at her. Maybe in, you know, to go. You make his money or whatever the quote was. I can't remember at the top of my head now, but that was kind of a famous incident at practice between Rookie and a veteran. This one here is a veteran in a second year player. So yeah, I mean, maybe it comes up at some point. Maybe there's something else that happens through the year. Where John Feliciano, as you noted, you know, he's no stranger to mixing it up a little bit. Maybe something happens with epinephrine. A and then you say, Hey, remember when he got into it, Feliciano practice? Yeah. That's that's what it would take. There have to be have to be a second event. Right? Uh And then then that would happen. All right?.

"Joe Judge, and you know Appropriate of him not to offer a timeline on Sequana Barkley, because imagine if he did, and we're wrong. Think of what would happen. Wait, Nothing would happen actually. Uh, when he when he started to say, Giants coach I thought of Jim Fossil. Jim Fossil died and that just sort of hit me like Wow. How old was Jim Fossil? It was 71 that might have guessed younger. But that was 20 years ago when His team was in the Super Bowl. Sal Carpaccio on the Western Hotline, Sal. I never I know I never met him face to face. I think he might have been on the show once. He was sometimes rumored for bills, jobs, but It was never my team. I always liked Jim Fossil. I don't know. Like some coaches. To give you enough personality and they just come across the right way for you, and he was one of those guys for me. Yeah, I can see that. Um, you know, I feel the same way about him, which is kind of he was. He was just about football. No nonsense, right? Not to level like a Tom Coughlin. But he just seemed like he was a good football man. I guess you'd say like to use a cliche. If you will, I would even say like a lot like Sean McDermott in that sense, right? Just he's about football and trying to win games. And you know the other stuff shouldn't matter. It's It's that it's that what matters you know, going out there and Performing every day and trying to win football games. Do I remember correctly that like I'm not sure if the bills ever interviewed him, but they may have to remember anything about fossil and them. Mm. I don't know. When would he have been? Maybe? Rumored for one of their jobs. I'm not really sure. Well, probably more than 10 years ago. I mean, it would have been maybe around when Giron I don't know exactly how that lined up, but the Giants Ravens Super Bowl was 4000 season. And he would have been there for a little time after that, but The last thing I think I saw him do was coaching. Was it XFL? Maybe he was coaching another league. I think. Fossil, So, Yeah, and then is, um Isn't it his his son as a coach? I believe, right? I think so as a coach. Said here about that the conversation about we had a lot of conversations, different conversations about the bills in the first hour. The one we were having toward the end was about Matt Brita. Mhm and Brian dabble brought his name up. But I mentioned how like in these fantasy draft where you get very deep, and you're playing with really sharp guys who know the depth charts up and down for every team. Never see. Breed his name. And like, I don't question that. But when I hear his name in here, I think you know what I wonder if he might be relevant in this offense. What do you think it would take like? You see him as somebody that they to put it This particular way would want to find room for in this offense. Would it be different than that? Do you think he means to them? I think the reason why you wouldn't like get People to really bring them up in a fantasy draft or draft him. Is because I don't think people think they're going to use them that much right? Because the bill simply aren't a team that's going to run the ball a lot. So there's already limited carries. And now he's also behind Singletary and Moss. And even if they were to spin one of them, you're talking about a shared backfield of a team that basically throws 65 70% of the time. Um, what's really there and then you know, not a lot to their running backs a little bit, so I don't think it's a lot of share their for him. Um, I think the bills believe he can be a weapon in certain situations. Maybe, as the season goes on. Maybe we realized they realized that he needs to be on the field a little bit more, but I think the element of adding speed has been something. We've talked a lot about going all the way back to that loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. One of the things the very next day was, this team needs more speed. And Matt Marina brings that he brings more speed, but he's not going to be on the field all the time. And even when he is there going to be doing other things other than giving the ball to Matt Burritos, so I think that's where it comes from. But I do think they believe he can offer a certain element. The teams are going to have to respect and He might be able to break when it doesn't always have to be a 65 yard touchdown. But if he can, you know, bust a 20 yard run off. That's a really nice run. That's a nice play. Yeah. And in the you know the fantasy context, But just in any context, I think the bills are a team where They? It seems like there might be room for somebody to move in on the running backs that they have. And like, so Brita was their choice to do that. It wasn't Travis Et and it turns out it wasn't Anybody in the draft. How do you think? Or maybe, you know, I'm not sure if table got this question today. Or if McDermott has, But how do you think the bill see if I can put it like this? Singletary versus Moss? Is one of them. Overall, more valuable to them than the other. How do you think they look at that? I don't. I think there is a Shared backfield. Um In fact, Brian Table was asked about this today. Like Do you believe in more like a another bell car running back at the main running back? A lead back, I think is what the way he was asked to him. And he said, no, not really. Just you know, it's you go with what you have, and you, You see even what he said was. I'm trying to figure out and find out exactly. They're trying to remember as I talk to you like what he said. But I do remember the one party said. Sometimes you go with the hot hand right? If a guy is really rolling, and you feel that he's got it going, the other guy doesn't you do it that way, But it can be all different situations. It could be game plan. It could be a lot of different things and who that is, and that's the way I think the bills are going to approach it. I think they approach it with Hey, neither of these guys is one A and neither is one B. Now there might be a starter. There has to be someone's got to be on the field before the other one. Unless you're putting them on the same time together to start the game, and I would guess that be Devin Singletary. He's been on the team for three years. Um, you know, that's probably that's his role. That's his job. But it wouldn't surprise me that You know, these two guys basically have about the same snap counts at the end of most games. So, Sal, Uh, I've risked burying the lead here. This this fight at practice, not because it's it's not the lead in terms of like what I think you would say the same. I don't know yet. What it matters how it matters to the season. But as far as the story of the day goes, it's probably a J. F. Vanessa running back an interception and John Feliciano, according to reports, quote chasing him down. And then a fight ensued. What do you know about it? And what do you make of it? Yeah. So I'll just for transparency. I was obviously out of practice today have a lot of video practice. So I had a Jacksonville radio station calling me today just after one o'clock. So when I took the call, I didn't want to be rude. Anybody next to me? So I literally walked outside the fence to take the take The call and to go on Jacksonville radio, and the play happened within five minutes of me being outside the fence, so I did not actually physically see the play happen. But I heard what was going on. And then I saw the reports and things like that. Um, my buddy Matt Perino. You know him? He's been on the show New York upstate. I asked him a couple of times like what you see. And he just wrote up a report on there and and he told me exactly what he saw. And obviously John Feliciano has spoken about it. Since then, you guys heard the sound when he was on with the Pat McAfee show..

"Train going downhill and get your game together and come ready to contribute. We're going to plug somebody else in and we saw it at the very position that Cody Ford is expected to play this year with Quentin, Spain last year. I mean, he went from three year extension two starter to bench. Two off the roster in five weeks. Um, I know he's going to get a little bit of rope because he's coming off of an off season surgery. Uh, so he's gonna be. He's gonna have a slower return than most my hope for him. Is that they just leave him at guard because each of the last two years there's been this guard tackle stuff and he's gone back and forth. I think the best thing you can do for Cody Ford right now. Is just give him a permanent home at guard. Whether it's starter back up whatever it is based on coming off of his surgery. Just leave them there. And see what you get out of him in terms of progress, development and quality, consistent play, But if it's not showing signs of being right for the starting five You had a guy like far as lamp who started 16 games played 100% of the snaps for the Chargers last year. I mean, they're not gonna wait No, I agree, And I think I'll go even a step further and say, I don't want to see him at garter tackle. I want to see him at left guard or right guard so that he's playing next to the same two guys, ostensibly the entire time to to where we have consistent every week. It's the same situation, Same communication, the same look left or right and to see what Cody Ford has. But I don't know if the writing's on the wall. Remember Brandon Beane last year, talked about Cody Ford being one of the five most talented offensive lineman on the team. I thought that was a heck of a pronouncement for a guy that a hasn't really played well or be hasn't really played much. I've been on the field much at all to say that he's one of the top five when you know, I thought, like Bucker had a pretty solid finished the last year And obviously the Bills just resigned. John Feliciano gave him new money. You just pointed out. Why not to look at that too seriously? But regardless you know, I think Ford you talk about a leash. I think he's got a really long one from what the GM said last year, and I'm not a huge force Lamb fan, either. I know he played every snap. That Chargers line was awful. I remember when they played the bills, and I was watching that game back. I'm thinking there are players all over this defense. Derwin James is even on the field you've got, you know, boast as a pass rusher. You've got lots of skill. Guys, You've got a quarterback who you know might be a phenomenon is a rookie Austin tacular is the perfect running back for 21st century football. What their line is terrible. They can't block anybody. Well, Pff, you know for what it's worth supported that so to believe in a charters, offensive lineman almost anybody from last year. That's not the guy I'm looking at. But regardless, it was not forward or lamp. I'll run. I'll run with Bucker and Feliciano and take my chances because those are two guys that did get me to the Ansi championship last year. Yeah, and I thought the problem with the Chargers offensive line was a domino effect from the middle. Uh, Feeny just was not part of it. He was flat out not good enough, and I felt like the guards had to cover up for a lot of those deficiencies and not just worry about their own assignment, but try to cover up for Feeny. And how deficient he was at the center spot. And you saw the Chargers address that in a giant way. I mean, they handed out gigantic money to Corey Linsley. I think there was just a terrible domino effect from the inside out there with that center position, And I think a negatively impacted guys like lamp. And the other guard on the other side, whose names escaping me right now, let's go to O B. L fan mail bag question to from Adriana. I know we got a bunch of edge rushers this offseason to improve the pass rush but are run defense has also struggled at times over the years. Even when star was playing. How is that supposed to improve this season when we most mostly brought in only edge rushers? Good question. Yeah, I think the fantastic question. I think the answer is I like what most of the young guys the bills brought and can do against the run. I thought AJ up. Vanessa was projected. I thought he was gonna be a solid run Defender didn't see a ton of it last year, but I still think you can do it. I think Boogie bash them can be a very good run Defender as well. Russo is a lot more of a project in every single way. Um, you know someone at that size there are Certainly ways he can defend the run, and I thought he was at least disciplined from what I saw at Miami in 2019, But I think the guys the bills grab, even though they are edge players and you think of edge and Russia. Well, edge run. Defending is a part of the Game two and Jerry Hughes has Had an amazing growth in that area. Most of the growth happened, like five years ago, But when he first came to Buffalo, this was a guy didn't play the run very well. And he quickly was able to figure it out. And for my money, he is one of the premier. Edge run defenders in the NFL. So just because the bills drafted an edge rusher doesn't mean that those guys can't play against the run. And I think at least epinephrine Basham are for rookies are pluses in that area. And I know some of our fellow reporters have already written about this. Um, just that Harrison Phillips looks to have a bigger spring in his step more similar to when he was playing prior to his A C L knee injury. I think last year was just an exercise and trying to get back up. Where he was. I don't know that anybody felt that he ever really got there and including himself, But now and I think he's going to fall into that category is being one of those guys that needed the full year. To get back to where he wanted to be. We'll know when the pads go back on whether he can be a factor on the interior, you know, behind star and presumably behind Ed, But that's just a wait and see. But a very good question from Adriana because there are no guarantees here that this run defense despite all the influx of talent Is going to be demonstrably better, at least from a yards allowed per game standpoint, we have to take a break. But with that, and I come back another question or two on the O B L fan Friday Mailbag Stay tuned here on.

Brandon Beane John Feliciano Corey Linsley Cody Ford Jerry Hughes Feliciano Derwin James last year 21st century 16 games Vanessa Adriana 2019 Feeny Harrison Phillips Ed 100% Russo Miami five

"With Sal Carpaccio on the Western Hotline might show up in the bulldog here. I like the point about this move being for whatever comes down the road. Mean? This. This group has been good at finding players not on the superstar level to play roles, especially on defense, and I could see them still wanting to do more of that. Yeah, I agree. I think they have Ah, good, solid personnel department, which finds players and is able to fit them into what they do, and guys wind up stepping up. I mean, Look at John Feliciano and what they parlayed that into look at. You know Darryl Williams. And what was that was partly to do. Are they perfect? No, of course not. There's been Mrs as well. Josh Norman did not turn out. You know, Vontae Davis, we know a few years ago did not turn out. You know, that's the other position people talk about which is corner. I get a lot of questions. Howard asked me this morning. You know, corner this thing before the digs news came out. You know who what Corners are left out there, and there are some I just get this really big sense that the bills really believe in danger Action and Levi Wallace and they're gonna let him battle it out. Maybe they bring in another corner. I wouldn't doubt it. I do not think it's someone they bring in. It has some sort of hefty salary, though that kind of immediately vaults them to the top of the depth chart. Because of the salary, they're making, no use. They signed Josh Norman to what they signed him to. It kind of becomes the defacto. He's gotta play right, And then he was the starter, and then he got hurt and Levi played, and Josh Norman never really saw the field. I don't think they want to do that again. I think they really like listeningto everything Brandon being said about Dane Jackson and watching Dane Jackson play last year. I think they have high hopes for Dane Jackson. So sure he could You add more to it? Yes, but I think generally, if a guy gets released after June 1st, it's generally a salary cap. Move. Well, that means it's a guy that's making a pretty good salary. So if you're going to get that kind of player, either he's gonna you're gonna get him for a lot less price, or it's just those players just don't come available after June 1st. The lower level guys are gonna be released because they're not making as much money for teams to save. Yeah, I admit definitely being focused on corner when I think about defense, but we had a guy call us earlier today sale who was rattling off aging pass rushers. Um, defensive line in General Starla Tulay, um, like that, You know, that happened last year, and I don't think the bills really had someone to plug into that spot when he opted out and Um, I don't know what the plans are for him this year. At this point, we know last week, at least when you were there. He was one of the players not in attendance at the offseason stuff. I don't want to draw a big conclusion out of that 11 situation. Um, but that could be a position that could use maybe, um, you know, some reinforcement. I agree. There is a video out today. Um, I retweeted it Several people have of star literally working out. Apparently, um, at a facility. I don't know if this is in Utah. He's he went to you Tell me I don't know where he is. I shouldn't even say that, but he went to Utah, so they're tag, but he's working out. He looks actually pretty fit and even slim down a little bit. S. So does this mean that he's getting ready to be in buffalo and work? We'll find out if he's there. Tomorrow. I'll be out in the field with the rest of the media will be able to watch, you know workouts, but I think this is a good sign this particular video that shows him working out and someone said, Hey, he was there. My son. Was there pretty cool, So I think that's a good sign. But at the same time I still think you have to look and think about what's down the road. And what about if there are opt outs negotiated by the NFL in the N F l P A, because that is on the table If opt outs are negotiated, you have to think that that could be a possibility for a guy like Star. You still have K one short. Who's out there? Still, General Casey was out there. These air Players who put time in this league. They're pretty good. The bills have to at least have them. On speed dial or someone ready to go. If for some reason, they realized that Starla tool he's not gonna play or if they don't like what they see out of their group overall when it comes time So you saw that too? You think he looks good? I So Sal could be right that it's a good sign. The first thought I had that when I saw it was Eric would and Rob Gronkowski. Like it looked like a guy to me that dropped the way he plays a position where it's good to be big and physical, and he looks like a guy to me that I didn't play football for the last year, and this is me in shape. It's what I thought. Hmm. About Is he doing a push up for every day of the year? Way know anything on that salad from probably even had a chance to ask him that yet. I have to report that I have retired from the push up challenge. Man. It's not the challenge Did you win something? E don't think I want anything with my arms are a little bigger s. Oh, that's something but no, don't no prizes. It's not because I wasn't keeping the pace up. I wasn't the 1 48 the other day. Wow, that's great. And then it was Maura that I started to hurt my shoulder started to hurt. And I've always thought that my technique wasn't exactly great. So you know, it was a holiday weekend and I had my wife and then she was home. And then my sister came over and friends came over and I'm doing push ups and they're all telling me No. You got to do no. Move your arms. No, do this And you know what? Let's videotape you and you can watch yourself and you can see out of so at one point on Saturday. Retired to my room, and I'm just going, all right. This is what I think I need to do. And 10 was hard like this particular way. My hands were in tight, right? And OK, don't lock your elbows and get your butt down and all this and I'm just sort of like driving myself crazy. And 10 was tough, and I'm like, you know what I can do A more reasonable number. Walk. And even do some other exercises and be just as well off, if not better, and not like feel like I'm wrecking my shoulders. Yeah. You don't want to do that. So as to be honest, like yesterday. I didn't do anything. Yeah, you today off Like I took a day off. I took a look of me day. Go, go, go, go, go. I mean, especially what was what's What's the end game? What was the endgame for this to do? One push up a day for every day of the year that it was so I'd be doing 365 on New Year's Eve. Which would amount to 66,000 and some for the year. Holy cow, and you know, it was always half baked. They just have a friend who did it. Okay? And he lost £80. I was really going for weight loss, but I'll get in shape. This would be a way it was right. It was new Year's and I'd cove eight and I was sort of locked in my room. Like what? Am I gonna New year's resolutions? What I'm gonna do. I know I'll do this because that means I'll do one push up tomorrow. New Year's Day, and that will be something that we have accomplished something by doing one. Well, I could do to the next day, you know when it goes on and on, but for the reasons I said it was gonna be. It's gonna change the regimen and I'm not going to get to that number so there, you know. Creative though. I like it. I wish I could take credit. It was wasn't going to tell you Just do it. Just do 100 Day, whatever. Like they would do whatever you can on the guy I've been. I've been doing 100 a day for a few months on Leon work days and you know 25 at a time. And I have also improved my technique, which means I'm getting it's harder to do right. I mean, there was a time when I was doing him. When I was there with you in the studio. I would throw myself down on the floor and do 40 or 50. But my technique was garbage. Now that I've I've dropped some weight, so it's easier for me to do them. I think Mork correctly. I'm still not ready to have anybody videotape me doing it or watch But I know because my body is telling me that I'm doing something at least closer to correct. Yes, because it's it's harder for them to do 25 now is much harder than it was. Two months ago. Yes, I think my technique is improved. Good. I never consulted anybody. I never talked to my doctor about it..

"And what we think or the best guys. They're going to start from day one of O T A's go all the way through training camp and make their decision. They got a got a high draft pick and Cody Ford coming back off a serious knee injury. He's got to show that he can still play. Otherwise he goes to the bench. Same thing with John Feliciano and Darryl Williams. And we've seen guys come in. We saw with Quentin, Spain last year who signed a three year deal or two year deal. Three year deal came back and everybody's real high, didn't give up a single sack in 2019. Five days into the year. Not only was he bench he was gone. The bills are sitting here at least in May in late May, we're Browning. I sit in. All of us are sitting. The bills look like they are neck deep in really quality offensive linemen were we mentioned forced lamp. And this man, he started 16 games for the Chargers last late, every single snap. They are sitting here at a place where even if they find five guys are eight guys who can really, really play. They're gonna have three or four who also can play Who I'm not. I'm just saying all of a sudden you You keep all of those guys and trade them for draft picks in the upcoming draft from a position of strength at a time when other teams are gonna be desperate to find guys like that. So Which guys? They keep in which guys? They don't Right now, It looks as though there's going to be 12 guys on this roster that we're all going to be really happy with. But they're not. Can't keep 12. Yeah, they're not gonna keep 12. This is for the first time in a long time. There's gonna be some really good football players who the bills had in training camp. They just weren't good enough to keep on. They're gonna play somewhere else. Likely. They're gonna have nice careers. Yeah, but I'm more than ever now. This roster is a freight train going downhill and you better hop on because if you don't, you're gonna get left behind. And that goes for all that That goes for all the veterans. We just really want. Just signed new deals. All that, like Feliciano, Darryl Williams, all these guys that signed extensions and all of those guys. You've got her. You're gonna have to bring it. And because every day One of the things we've seen. I said this about Brown and one of them. I was thinking about this. Think back to 2017 and certainly even 2018 to a certain extent when Josh his rookie year when their offensive line was absolute mess. Think about all the extra chances people like Andrei Homes and Kelvin Benjamin got When they didn't come through and didn't deliver. Right? Well, you know what I mean? I didn't perform. Extra chances week after we get why why didn't have anybody and everybody else? It's different now. Jump on the moving train or you're gonna get left behind. Simple is that no matter who you are, it's and it's amazing, too, because one of the things that it's It kind of gives me a little bit of a Wow. This is kind of an exciting field because This coaching steps. McDermott the staff he's got around me. Chad Hall. These guys, you know Eric Washington, Leslie phrase your table's Bobby Johnson. All these guys on this Staff. The hallmark of the Shah McDermott culture has been just what we said. You gotta prove it every day is a player or you're going to get benched. It's also been that they get the most out of a roster they get. You know, in 2017, they go to the playoffs after a 17 year drought. With a roster that was accused of being they were tanking when that season started, and they got that roster to the playoffs, they maximize the talent on their roster. And then when you get to this point in 2021, where you're looking at a roster going Oh, my gosh, look at these guys, and they're gonna maximize those guys. It's pretty exciting to think about that season coming up so Strapping. Let's go strap in. Let's go back to the phones at 803. Oh, 5 50 open line for you there we go to Dave in Florida. Dave, What do you have for us? Who's on your mind? You want to see this season? Who do I want to see it? Anders is the obvious one. But my figures that you're number one draft cry, Crusoe. Oh, yeah. I watched him at, um every game. This guy can break up a screen pass. He can rush any quarterback and catch him. And he gets his hands up. Okay. I think this is the guy that's gonna surprise everybody. Yeah, You know, Dave, you bring up an interesting point that I don't think people have talked about enough and that's batting down passes. Um, this is a guy where even if he doesn't win on the pass rush and can't get home If he's in the passing lane, have fun throwing over that guy. That's the thing it no matter where Russo stands. He's rushing the passer. The quarterback is gonna have to throw it around him. No matter where he is, you gotta throw it around and he's not going to throw it over the top of him. And you know, the guy's got two tennis rackets for hands. I mean, he's gonna best things down and puts his hands in the air talking 9.5 ft, Right. That's I've said it. The only thing you cannot coach and make better is Length height. You can't coach him to be taller. Uh, you can coach and be faster, stronger, heavier, lighter, quicker..

John Feliciano Darryl Williams Eric Washington Cody Ford Feliciano Kelvin Benjamin Bobby Johnson 2019 Josh 2017 Dave 9.5 ft 12 guys 2021 2018 16 games Florida Russo 12 Andrei Homes

"Uh, but so then the best part is He tells him you're going to pay my money. You're painting my money. Then he realized his old man. Is everybody else in this hallway seeing this or there any cameras in the hallway here to film this And so, he said. I stopped hitting Lombardi and he slid down the wall. I walked into the training room called. My attorney said Hey, get me cut right now. He called me back in two minutes said they'll release you if that's what you want. So I had just walked out of the quarterback meeting to go to the restroom. And all of this had happened in 10 minutes, so I walked back into the QB meeting room. Many tested Verdy Eric Zeier and the quarterbacks coach and said a boys I'll see y'all later I'm out of here. In the code that quarterback coach goes. Have you talked to Bill? He says, you could tell Bill to kiss my baby. He's a lying piece of you know what? And then I was gone. And the best part is the next day. Get side by Green Bay and they were the Super Bowl. He gets signed by Green Bay the next day and backs up Brett Farve in the Super Bowl. That is a fantastic It is, uh, Yeah, the NFL At times. Does look like a frat house. It's more entertaining off the field. Sometimes the guys like because they're guys like McMann, who He's one of those and at quarterback you it's really It's easy to see why he bounced around. Why didn't even last in Chicago, where he gave me their only Super Bowl victory. Um I've said it a ton to you on the show, and I've heard had head coaches tell me this, You know you want a lot of got, like like here in buffalo. Cha McDermott, Brandon be spent a lot of time finding out who these guys are, What kind of people they are, and they won't really good solid. Motive. Self motivated people who are all about and really beyond selfish for the team toe, you know, go the extra mile all the whole nine yards and every head coach will tell you once, and I've had a couple of head coaches tell me You also want about a handful of guys who you just hope show up on Sunday. Is there, that kind of guy? They don't care about anything. They're gonna come show up play and they're gonna bar fight their way through the game. They're going to give you an edge and you need guys like that. But a handful now at quarterback, you kind of it's not kind of guy you're looking for, but that's the kind of guy McMann Woz He'd be there on game day. But during the week He's like the House cat. He may disappear for three days and then she was like, Oh, here he is. He's fine. We'll see that kind of thing. Haven't you always said you want some guys on your Austin? Not 100% sure whether they're going to be there on game day or in jail, so you don't want you don't want criminals? No question. But you do want guys that have an edge like if something happens. The consequences be damned. They're going there in a fight, right? They they think they're the guys you want on the field because and it's like like in the bills right now, John Feliciano is one of those guys where if there's a unaltered cation on the and you want him, you know, lined up close to your QB to to protect him. If there's an altercation on the field, and I've said it before, if if Feliciano is not in the middle of the fight He is doing everything he can to get there. Before it breaks up. You need guys like that? Because they're got because quite frankly, you probably got a couple guys like me that you know when the When stuff goes into the lawnmower. That I'm the stuff that gets shot out the side in a fight. You need some guys that are actually the blades of the fight right of the mower. So that's what That's what these guys are. McMahon was one of those guys and playing the exact wrong position to do it. But all this this compared to what? I can't even I can't tell the stories that I've heard about Jim McMahon. This is not this is Picture of the tip of the iceberg. Didn't he write a book? I gotta go grab that. There's got to be 100. Good stories like that, And they're probably either better. However many days. How does that guy do you? Are you well, he's Catholic. However many days he was in the NFL. What there's 10 stories. For every day he was in the NFL. Man yet Ted Tollner was his quarterback coach at BYU, former coach of mine and They hung out. So, uh, Jim McMahon touched a lot of lives in the NFL lot of players. A lot of teams. He was on San Diego for a minute. Arizona for a minute. I think, obviously Green Bay, Chicago and you know Cleveland he was on. He would have been perfect for the Raiders. Let me Tell me not to tell me. He's not an Al Davis got it might have been too much of a good thing. He wouldn't last. If you wouldn't last headed even shorter career you played for the Oakland Raiders in the eighties. My goodness. That would have been something. Um Topic today. Twitter poll time as Ah, We wanted to Again. We're not reviewing the off season here per se. We're kind of looking ahead to see what you feel was the most important offseason decision as it pertains. 2021 we have You know a few choices for you can certainly come up with something else. As always, we leave you the other the famous other category in the Twitter poll. But the bills even though In terms of big splash moves or giant signings or big trades like we saw the year before With Stefan Diggs deal. They haven't done those land. Moving type deals. This off season. They've done a lot to keep the Russia that took them to the final four last year intact. So what we're asking you today is what's the biggest offseason decision. The bills have made to this point among the choices, adding speed on offense. Pass rush additions. Preserving the roster as much as possible from 2020 or something else. Let us know what you think at 803 Oh, 5 51 8885 52 5 50 the number to get onboard open line for you there. And we've got opened phones up until the third hour of the show, so feel free to join us. And on the tweet. She'd had one bills live now, adding speed on offense, and people might scratch their heads a little bit. So, what are you talking about? Emmanuel Sanders. No, he's not faster than John Brown, Better route runner. Matt Breed is a speed element has been added to the offense. Jacob Hollister ism or athletic element added a tight end. Then either Tyler Kroft or Lee Smith? Um some might say, Well, that's not saying much, but I think it is. And so Maybe it's not too anorthosis degree, but It's an element that's been added, I think there's there's more speed there on that side of the ball, a couple of the skill positions Pass rush additions are obvious. The draft. And preserving the roster from 2020 was what made waves early in the free agency period. With the Bills. Ability to get Matt Milano, Darryl Williams, John Feliciano, back in the fold. For 2021 beyond and Yeah, and Levi Wallace resigned as well. They tendered Ike bugger he re signed as a restricted free agent. He's back in. You know, it's interesting we might have to Be interesting to also don't have a problem. Go down this because it's hard to talk about guys who aren't here anymore. But Matt Milano, what am I saying? Yeah, What's the biggest? It's the biggest got thing. What's the biggest player we're gonna miss. From this for this season is gonna be a guy like Lee Smith. There is John Brown. Or is it Matt Barkley? Does it work? Andre Roberts. Now you got some guys that aren't here from a year ago who you can think back and remember some contributions they made they were pretty significant. Andre Roberts in particular. Of course, John Brown. I mean, that guy was money. It was mitigated by the fact that he missed seven games, right, but over the course. Yeah, but the course of his career. You gotta know that how much you could depend on him when he was out there. Um There are some significant losses, although in the stat sheet Maybe not significant, But I think in the in the culture and the character department of Matt Barkley, John Brown on Andre Roberts, those guys you're gonna miss those Annalise Smith. That's a guy that made a difference. Yeah, Glue guys, all of them..

Matt Barkley Tyler Kroft Lee Smith Levi Wallace Andre Roberts Ted Tollner Darryl Williams Matt Milano John Brown Emmanuel Sanders Brett Farve Jacob Hollister Annalise Smith John Feliciano Jim McMahon McMahon 2020 Feliciano Oakland Raiders Brandon

"Ahead. No, it was the whole outfit was in the whole of the outfit was on display. I was like, Oh, my gosh. I remember that he thought you were going to tell me that there was a photo from that show on the wall. And you're in the photo. No, That's what I That's what I thought you were going like that would have been even better. But when? When I saw they go, this is this. This is the Mick Jagger stage outfit for the steel wheels and I was like, I remember that, you know. Is one of the outfits you Wow, it was a It was a New York jet number. 12 jersey. Steve, that is a story man. Yeah. I still cared about her ready for head coach. That coach is probably like What the hell that we have to do to get that guy task. I can't believe we didn't get that kid they want And it was interesting, too, because I was a wide out, you know, Wide receiver kick returner. University of Northern I will wanted to bring me in and they wanted me to play running back. Oh, wow. Me back because I was gaining weight I'd put on some. You know, I'd start to put weight on like I needed to and and They wanted the ball in my hands that way, and I was like, and I Just then I got called by Northwestern, which was you know, they won big 10. I was like, you know what you're gonna do? Great education. What you gonna do? I had I had to take that stuff to compete with. Man, that's a heck of a sell job. That's pretty good. They were in the running. Oh, they were on their on the short. That was a heck of a cell. J were on the shore. I'll Yes. Talk about pulling out all the stops Northern Iowa. You got to share that story with Spencer when you see him Because that is it was that is a butte. I can tell you right now. Spencer Brown didn't get a Rolling Stones concert. Probably not. I'll bet he didn't probably had it. Oh, man, That's a good one. Steve. I was going to talk about Spencer's impressive work out because Yeah, 68 the thing about him accepting a quarter clear level. The crone drill he ran was elite sub seven seconds. That's elite. Like any position. There are DBS that get good marks when they were on sub seven second, three cones. This is a 68 £311 man. Running a sub seven second three second cone for 4.4 seconds short shuttle. If your sub for your elite and they look for DBS to be sub four seconds he's 44 change direction for him. That's really good. Um, guys rip any press 1 29 reps with 35 inch arms Now that people are like, Well, what does that mean? The longer your arms are before either get harder. It is to do the wraps. Once you get up to 2029 reps. I mean, here he is bench and 500, which is his Max, which is scaring me to death after the John Feliciano Tauron Peck thing. The day before training camp last year, But you gotta he gets it up. It's it's funny because A little bit of a little bit of a but Ray's. There he is. You get something bad counts, though. I tell you something. That spot guy I don't know if I'm counting again, There's no that's just it. You gotta have somebody to spot you on that You need a bigger guy. Yeah, It's not like you need a bigger guy than that. He's gonna get a different spotter. Yes, not your girlfriend spotted you right? I mean, it's you need a guy with some meat on it. You got it and some backup. That £500 is a lot to put a guy on either side. There was a bunch Bunch of weight. That's a bunch of weight. Oh, my goodness. Off your chest £500. That's a lot. Yeah. I'll bet I'll bet coach Deano and the strength and conditioning part yet. Don't do that again. Yeah, Let's see. We got a different program lets no doubt let's lay off. John Feliciano will tell you to. You can't do that. But But that that tells you I mean the kids running an elite three cone drill and a short shuttle, and he's an athlete man and his bench and £500 that that's Those are some traits. As I was looking at the standard whether he turns into the bills, starting right tackle any point the future But I'll tell you this. That guy right? There is gonna be in the NFL for a long, long time. He even as even you visit career back up. You don't Those guys just don't go away. They just hang in there, and I've looked at more than one scouting report on him and what keeps coming up in the descriptions Smooth athlete. Length. And competitive toughness. That keeps you in the league a long time that Z better nothing, especially when you're 6 83 a lot better than a third round pick right there Those traits and I think he's one of four guys that the Bills drafted who were at the Senior Bowl? They? They put stock in that, especially with small school guys like Brad. Small Stool guys is the first time they get to go against, you know, top flight. Competitive, You know, a top flight. Uh, competition and when they hold their own against it and actually show out doing it. That really goes a long way with a lot of coaches, and it should it should. Because there's always that stigma. Well, you played against, you know, you know, I would say the joke he was playing against engineering students and dental students and not real football players. Well, that's not the case at the Senior Bowl. And I would I would venture to guess that the bills and several other teams Use that. Showcase as validation and confirmation. Of what they think about that player in terms of whether they can handle the NFL game if they hadn't already If they hadn't already, you know, seen the guy I or, you know, obviously, I've watched film on it and stuff but seeing the guy up close and personal and then see him compete against other guys who have some skills. Get in the same room with him on the same field with him, watching him work and work hard. Coaches get a lot of information from that be seen him on the field up close in a practice setting tells coaches all they need to know basically in a in a lot of ways. And, uh, Certainly the senior Bowl is a great environment for that. Yeah. We have to take a break when we come back more of your questions from the O..

"Seven games for the Bills last season and plans to play into the competition for the bill. Starting office of Guard spot opposite of John Feliciano. We're two days away from the first round of the NFL draft Bunch of rumors today. Florida Tight and Kyle Pitts, who many of mock to the Atlanta Falcons with the fourth overall pick, said today that he thinks the first four picks of the NFL draft will all be quarterbacks. Also odyssey NFL insider, Jason Lakhan, Forrest says there's a strong expectation the 40 Niners will try to trade quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo before or during the NFL draft. Hockey. The sabers are at the New York Rangers tonight. Will Borgen reenters the line up on the blue line in place of Colin Miller, who could pack a Lucan and gets the start in net puck drop for savers. There's a good chance that Matt Jones will be a serviceable to a good quarterback with the 40 Niners. We've seen Kyle Shanahan elevate quarterbacks just like Mack Jones in the past. But even if Mick Jones ultimately becomes a top 15 quarterback, that doesn't mean that Justin Fields of trade lands couldn't have been better. I think that we're the argument and for me that it's.

"Loses this game of mitchell. Trubisky hot potato. All that's the worst kind of opera. Deo it is You mentioned brandon. Sheriff he has signed his franchise tender with washington. We had some offensive line movement. Here over the weekend The bills end up bringing back. Daryl williams and john feliciano Taylor moton franchise tag tender with With carolina and then cameras and obviously tag by jacksonville unlikely to be own anywhere even if he is not signed at the moment but the most interesting thing is the chiefs end up releasing of their starting tackles eric fisher who ruptured his achilles in the afc title game and mitchell schwartz who battled back and real year miss. Most of the season had had back surgery recently. It seems like it was kind of inevitable at this point. And now you have a chief team who we saw the super bowl. Their their achilles heel was the fact that they couldn't block the bucks and now they are going into the offseason with no offense of tackles and also often writer. Their starting center is is hitting free agency and is unlikely to return. Yeah who who saw that coming. You know if you a chief's fan and then you saw those. Were the first to cuts that you made to that to make sense of the salary cap. You like. wait what. Excuse me certainly maybe be. They're thinking about upgrading. are not upgrading but getting younger and contractually a little bit safer in the draft on may maybe one of those too but i i don't know what your end game is there i think. The blueprint on mahomes has been sort of Shaken out there. I mean again. You're not going to get that level of pressure on the chiefs every game and they're going to be able to get the ball out quicker. You're not going to have a defense as good as the box. Most people but if you're setting him up to get pressured to that degree throughout the season next year. I i think that's a that's a really scary thing but again you know. Sometimes you have a quarterback that's on a ten year contract. These things have to happen right. You have to break things down and you have to build things up and you have to expect that okay. Maybe next year were nine seven or ten and six. And we're not you know thirteen and three or fourteen into We're gonna lose a few games but we're going to break in two offensive tackles that are gonna take us the the distance in two or three years. I don't know what the what the thought process is. They're they're certainly built to win now. But that was a confusing one for me. I didn't quite understand especially mitchell schwartz. Who and eric fisher. I mean they both really did mitchell. Schwartz was always good and eric fisher really did come into his own. I think in in that spot. Yeah the fisher..

"How you doing this week? Scott. I am doing well this week. We have our final four and I'm excited to see these teams go at it this weekend. It's too terrific match ups. It's two matchups that have already happened this year. You start with the A F. C. I mean, you know the question all week long was about Patrick Mahomes. And clearly that is the big question because it changes absolutely everything but These teams played one another. Earlier this year in Buffalo. The chief showed a dedication to the running game into their rookie running back, and that was really something that, according to the Buffalo Bills, was the beginning of the jumping off point where they are right now. Yeah, This is a rematch and went back and looked at that game earlier in the season. And the Bills sort of gave the Chiefs the running legs that allowed them to run. You know, they were like, Okay, We're not going to put a lot of bodies in the box. We'd much rather you try to beat us with the ground game, then. Try to, you know, Put the ball to the air and listen, it didn't work. It's really hard. T O have any game plan against the office, But keep in mind to Matt. My line or the linebacker didn't play in that game lead by Wallace. Their cornerback, didn't play in that game. They were missing on offense. John Feliciano Dawson. Knox didn't play their tight end, so they were missing a lot of bodies. And I think the thing you can take from any game that you play. The team is we've seen it before, And now we get a chance to see it again. And a lot of times you could make some adjustments. But I think the bills have to play one heck of a game. I think the quarterback is gonna have to be a superstar, which he has been, but I mean Maura than likely using his legs, sort of. Give them some type of running game as well as using his arm and Just kind of hope that the Chiefs are not firing on all cylinders. In the NFC. You've got the Green Bay Packers a Tampa Bay bucks. You got Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. And you can't write a better script in this and you know, Green Bay finally gets that home game in the NFC championship game for Aaron Rodgers. This is also a rematch because they played in week six and Tampa Bay. Basically kicked them all over the field. Beat him 38 to 10 Aaron Rodgers said this week. That game means nothing right now. Is that true? Um, yeah, You know, it does it because it was in week six and entered. Rogers had his worst game ever had two picks, one for return for a touchdown. And remember, they were up 10 and nothing in that game. And then all of a sudden when he threw the interceptions and started started going down here real quickly. The bus defense really took advantage of that. And, you know, last week that defense Did as well. So yeah, I think he's right. Um, you know, you try to take the games that you lose and say they don't mean anything. The ones you win, you kind of look at and say, OK, we beat him with William once before we could do it again. And so you take what fits and you get rid of everything else. God, and that's I think that's what Aaron is saying. It's like they're different team right now as well and and he's playing really, really well. Right. So when you and I are sitting here and talking next week as we are in the down week, Pro Bowl week with no actual real Pro Bowl this year We're gonna be talking about the two teams that are going to be at that point about a week away from playing in the Super Bowl. Your on the spot. My friend which two teams is gonna be Kansas City and the Packers. I'm going Chiefs and Packers and this one. That's been my pick. Not since the beginning of the season, but pretty late in the season. I thought those that these are the two best teams and The two number one seeds, and I think that holds true. So I'm going Packers and chiefs in the Super Bowl. You're not the only person to say that and I'm sure there's a lot of people in the business offices. It's state farm. They're hoping that that's the case as well. But CD. Appreciate it. Thanks for the time will talk to you next week. That was good, but he talking soon on the other side you're gonna hear from Bill's head coach Sean McDermott. This is NFL insider. From regular expenses.
