"This report definitely lots of chatter about internal folks knowing wrong was being done. From the report, Celsius former chief financial officer wrote, we were talking about becoming a regulated entity and we are doing something possibly illegal and definitely not compliant. As one employee noted in an internal slack communication, if anyone ever found out our position and how much our founders took in USD could be a very, very bad look. We're using users USD C to pay for employees worthless cell, all because the company is the one inflating the price to get the valuations to be able to sell back to the company. So obviously there's a lot more in this. It's a 476 page document, as I said. But here's our ram again, sums this up. Ponzi scheme, mashinsky cashing out and dumping on retail, willful deception, TOS violations, market manipulation, like FTX, these frauds were both more brazen than enron. Unlike FTX, the Celsius lies were known and discussed across departments, including marketing. Decentralization works, not perfect. Regulated cfi works, not perfect. Unregulated non banks, worst of both worlds. Anyway, I think there'll be a lot more on this as people dig deeper into the report. But it is not looking good for those at the top of Celsius. Now speaking of FTX one connection back to that situation, as I mentioned, this report was the work of an independent examiner. In early December, the Department of Justice's office of the U.S. trustee filed a motion asking the court to appoint a similar type of independent examiner in the FTX case. U.S. trustee Andrew vara said at the time, like the bankruptcy cases of Lehman, Washington mutual bank and new century financial before them, these cases are exactly the kind of cases that require the appointment of an independent fiduciary to investigate and to report on the debtor's extraordinary collapse. The examiner should investigate the substantial and serious allegations of fraud, dishonesty, and competence, misconduct, and mismanagement by the debtors. in that filing, they didn't question the qualifications, competence or good faith of John Jay ray, they just said that it was quote too large and too important to be left exclusively to an internal investigation. Seems pretty reasonable, right? Well, last week a number of groups around FTX, including their current lawyers, the joint provisional liquidators of FTX U.S. and The Bahamas, and a creditors committee all filed objections to the appointment of this independent examiner. The FTX lawyer said quote, the appointment of an examiner with a mandate to be determined can be expected to cost these estates in the tens of millions of dollars. Indeed, if history is a guide, they cost could near or exceed $100 million. The creditors committee also cited prohibitive costs. However, there are also questions of independence. Remember on December 9th, a group of four senators wrote an open letter to judge John Dorsey, claiming that Sullivan and Cromwell had a conflict of interest in the case. Dorsey was not impressed and on January 20th, the judge ruled that those conflicts were not sufficient to stop S and C from acting as FTX counsel. Now that was after some 11th hour theatrics by former FTX regulatory head Dan friedberg, but ultimately they didn't come to much. Now when it comes to this independent examiner, the final determination will take place on February 6th and lawyer James Murphy wrote a whole threat about it. He writes on February 6th a key hearing will take place in the FTX case. The court will hear the U.S. trustees motion for appointment of an independent examiner. If the motion fails, we may never get an unbiased account of the demise of FTX. Here's what you should know. Independent examiners were appointed in both the enron and rescap bankruptcies, where mister ray served as restructuring CEO.

The enron examiner's report established the basis for claims against enron's lawyers, auditors and bankers. Both reports led to huge recoveries for creditors. An independent examiner in FTX would get answers to key questions like was FTX U.S. in fact solvent on the day it filed bankruptcy. Who among the accountants bankers lawyers and others bear legal responsibility for enabling the FTX fraud. Do the malpractice claims alleged by Daniel friedberg against Sullivan and Cromwell have any validity. How did the FTX team lose 477 million in customer assets in a quote unquote hack around the time of the bankruptcy filing and more? Obviously, S and C can't investigate these issues. As counsel to the debtors, as since he is objecting to appointment of an independent examiner, who would investigate these questions and render a report to the public. Essence he's conflicts are well documented. Any investigation they conduct would be considered inherently suspect by many. Where's the SEC? The SEC asked for the examiner in enron, but the SEC has done nothing to support appointment of an examiner in FTX. I wonder why. Any legitimate investigation of the FTX fraud would necessarily examine the dealings between the SEC and key figures at FTX. Where are the politicians? To their credit a group of four U.S. senators wrote to the judge strongly supporting appointment of an examiner for FTX. But where are the rest of them? Is there a reason the others lack enthusiasm? For an in depth investigation into SPF's activities? Where are the states? Do their credit was constant in Vermont have filed papers and support of an independent examiner? But every U.S. state has citizens who were victimized by the FTX fraud. Why have we not heard from the others? States attorneys general, it's not too late. If SPF pleads guilty, there may be no public trial of anyone connected to the FTX fraud. Without an independent examiner's report, the FTX victims may never get a truly unbiased accounting of all those who enabled one of the largest frauds in U.S. history. Let that sink in. Now, from where I'm sitting as much as I understand not wanting to add costly processes that could cut into the funds available for recovery, I tend to agree with another lawyer John deaton when he writes. There are certain things in life that can be called no brainers and the appointment of an independent examiner and the biggest fraud case since Madoff is one of them. And by the way, I don't think you have to believe that John ray or Sullivan and Cromwell are compromised in any way to still want an independent examiner. After everything that has happened so far, it just seems like common sense. Anyway, there is even more going on in FTX right now. Apparently a group of senators, including Elizabeth Warren, roger Marshall and John Kennedy sent another letter to silvergate asking for more information about what they knew about FTX misuse of customer funds, saying that their answers to a similar set of questions in December were evasive and

FTX Bankruptcy Judge Not Swayed by Letter From US Senators

"Wendy O is going to start us off today with an FTX bankruptcy update. What do you got when? Gosh, golly gee, you guys, this thing is going to be a topic conversation for a long time. Just in. Bipartisan group of U.S. senators calls for independent examiner to investigate FTX. And this bipartisan group is actually very interesting because it's comprised of senators, Elizabeth Warren, John hinkle looper, Tom tillis, and Cynthia Loomis, which I actually like her because she's kind of pro crypto. And shout out to hotel Jesus 'cause he also told me that many time you see anything bipartisan, it's not a good thing. You want them fighting and going at it. I don't know, that's what he said. But anyways, before U.S. senators sent a letter to the bankruptcy judge calling for independent examiner to be appointed to the case and they're urging the judge to support a motion to appoint an examiner to have full authority and resources to conduct an objective investigation of the activities that led to the collapse and they argue that the current adviser Sullivan and Cromwell advised FTX for years, leading up to its collapse and one of its partners even served as FTX general counsel, that seems like a conflict of interest to me, but just in the bankruptcy hearing today, Delaware judge John Dorsey called the letter inappropriate intervention in banking and proceedings which won't sway due to decisions. Jen, I need your opinion on this because it's kind of a heavy topic. And it's a lot to chat about. Yeah, so I read the story and I was like, oh yeah, I totally agree with the senators, and then I read the judges dance. I was like, yeah, I totally agree with the judge. So let's talk about Sullivan and Cromwell first. Assisting the current FTX leadership and identifying issues, the senators are saying that they're not a disinterested party because they've been working with FTX for a really long time and some of their partners have even served as general counsel for FTX. That really does sound like a conflict of interest. But at the end of the day, I think my opinion here is that the judge is right that this should all come out in court everyone should have a chance to respond to any of these matters and it seems like the court is compiling lots of different witnesses who can speak to or against this and it should all play out in court. It shouldn't be swayed by senators.

"30 Wednesday morning in Hong Kong, 1230 Wednesday afternoon here in Sydney, trading our underway across much of Asia with the exception of Japan, which is closed today. We're seeing gains in Australia and on the Cosby. And we've had Hong Kong just open for trademark at kind of flat right now as some modest declines in Shanghai and New Zealand off by three quarters of 1% after that super sized rate hike from the Abbey and zeppo have more on that for you in a moment, but now I'll just run you through some of the days at top business news stories. The OECD has raised forecasts for 2023 inflation compared with its September projections. The organization forecasting 6.6% inflation and two 2023, 5.1% for the following year. However, The O.C. OECD says it does see current rate hikes paying off and it added that the world's central banks must keep on hiking rates to fight high prices. We heard from OECD acting chief economist Alvaro Pereira. But matters right now is to get the situation which inflation peaks and starts to come down durably. It has to be durable. Can not be only one data point. And this is what we need to monitor. In our forecast, we forecast that basically inflation will start to pivot around a mid next year, and we'll continue to come down, even though it will remain fairly high in some countries at the end of 23. But in its new economic outlook, the OECD said it sees global GDP growth slowing to 2.2% in 2023, it added though that it's not expecting a recession. If the credit is including rich investors can remain anonymous and still participate in the company's bankruptcy case, at least for now. This is according to a ruling from U.S. bankruptcy judge John Dorsey at FTX first court hearing today. The company's top 50 unsecured creditors are owed more than $3 billion. The U.S. bankruptcy code normally requires the names be filled in on the documents, which are then available to public. Representatives for FDX argued those creditors are also customers, though, and disclosure would allow rivals to steal their business. Separately in today's hearing, FTX attorney James Bromley said a substantial amount of the group's assets have either been stolen or are missing. The U.S. House and Senate have also requested that John ray, the new FTX CEO, testify at some point in December. JD.com is slashing salaries for about 2000 managers by ten to 20%. We hear it's also diverting some of those savings towards a 1.4 billion employee benefits fund. Billionaire JD.com founder Richard Liu will also donate 14 million of his own money towards staff welfare. This is all to comply with Chinese president Xi Jinping's common prosperity campaign to share the wealth and the common prosperity campaign she's administration sought to rein in, disorderly expansion of capital in response. Well, wealthy tech in an entrepreneur is likely to have begun to give back. All right, I mentioned the obvious it a little bit earlier and some of the market behavior was seeing at Doug Christmas here for a closer look. Yeah, 75 basis points. I think you'll agree Paul. That was unprecedented and Adrian or the governor of the rbnz Ed was saying a short while ago this move was done to ensure inflation returns to within the rbn zeds target range over the medium term. And the Central Bank in New Zealand is also predicting that the economy will enter a recession sometime in the middle of next year. In terms of equity market action and ZX 50 is down about let's call it a tenth of 1%. Other markets in the apac region mostly positive in Sydney, the ASX 200 ahead by about 7 tenths of 1% in sold a cost rising four tenths of 1%. The market on the mainland in China, this is the Shanghai composite up just a tenth of 1% and in Hong Kong, the hang sang better by about let's call it a tenth. Maybe better spoken, calling it a half of 1%. One of the things that maybe helping sentiment is a weaker dollar, the Bloomberg dollar spot index down in New York trading as the result of a decline in US Treasury yields, the Bloomberg dollar spot off a half of 1% at the long end of the curve a ten year treasury at three 75. Now because of a market holiday in Japan, we're not getting trading in U.S. sovereign debt. At the short end of the curve of the two year at 4.51%, we were down nearly four basis points in New York trading, and those lower yields not only weakened the dollar but they helped support a move up in the equity market stateside. We also had a batch of upbeat results from a couple of the big retailers in the states. Singapore's third quarter GDP, growth rate of 1.1% that's quarter on quarter, a bit below estimates, and now for the new year the Singaporean government is predicting that 2023 will see growth of between a half of 1% to two and a half per 1%, two and a half percent. I'm sorry. So that's quite a range. Crude oil continuing to push higher that was the case here in New York yesterday we were talking about Saudi Arabia pushing back on that Wall Street Journal report indicating that there is the potential for a production increase at next month's OPEC plus meeting WTI right now. This is the January contract trading 81 40 in the electronic session. We're up about 6 tenths of 1%. We'll take another look at markets in about 15 minutes. All right, thanks very much, dag 25 minutes to the top of the aisle. Let's get a check of global news

"Most of us don't think anything of it, but I remember sitting next to at the time, John Dorsey, who is the packers, I think he was assistant GM there under Ted Thompson. And we were just sitting in the end zone watching one on ones. At one practice and he asked me, I forget which prospect it was and he was like, he was like, does this guy look like he has knocked knees to you? And I hadn't really thought about it. You know, sort of inward facing knees are bending knees and I was like, yeah, yeah, I think he does and they ended up taking him off the board or something like that. But like feral in his lower body looked a little iffy to me. Like there's some like knee stuff that would have to work out. But anyways. Let's move on to cornerbacks because I thought this was, this was an interesting watch. Look, I'm not doing one hundredths of the homework that either you or especially these teams are doing on these guys, but this is my quickie read on these guys. I love sting Lee's film. Especially the early stuff, elite traits. I mean, you know, yes, sauce gardeners by far the best in this class. But sting Lee when he's right, if he's right, if he's healthy, all that crap. Absurdly talented. Like a number one lockdown corner. Booth, I loved I really liked booth. I like this compete. I liked his length. I do think he has some man upside. Mcduffie, you know, I wanted to see more. He small, he's safe. He's, I don't know how much upside he has as opposed to elam from Florida. A lot of upside with him can do a lot of things really good traits, really liked armor Davis from Alabama. I think he's going to go higher than people are talking about. If I'm the Patriots, that's sort of my guy in the second round. Or third round, if you think he's going to last that long, Dax hill from Michigan..

"There's so many unknowns and it really makes it intriguing to watch. Yeah, I mean, when Baker Mayfield was drafted first overall, I mean, the word was coming out a few hours before that it was going to be him, but I still needed to hear the words come out of Roger Goodell's mouth to actually believe it. What are the odds? And that's rare that I'm able to ask those questions about anything in Las Vegas. What are the odds that we really won't know? That Roger Goodell will truly be the Paul Revere telling us who's coming to Jacksonville. What do you think? It's a great question. Last year, I was on record saying everywhere that I think it's Trey lancer Mac Jones, Trey lancer, Mac Jones, three of the niners, and at the last second, I said, it's going to be Matt Jones. It's going to be Mac Jones and I had worked with John lynch as a sideline reporter for Fox crew. I've known Kyle Shanahan for years. And to this day, I'm like, gosh, I was even shocked and I know those guys inside and out and they went with Trey Lance. I think that there's a chance that these guys and Jacksonville can keep it secret all the way up until the draft. Now, whether it was John Dorsey or was Elliott woolf or whoever it was of the head coach at the time in Cleveland who let it out of the bag hours before, but we knew baker about 2 o'clock on a draft that was starting at 6 o'clock. This one, I don't think we're going to know. I really don't, because it has been so kept under secret lock and key at this point that I think it might feel like that San Francisco pick, which I watched back earlier this week or yesterday, I watched it back and your reaction rich it was everyone else's. Wow, they actually did it. They took Trey Lance over Matt Jones. That's what we want to hear. We want to hear suspense. We want to hear you to be so surprised when that pick is in, that no one took this trick and it is a pure reality show and even the player that surprised what his name is called. Peter schrager, good morning football, NFL network here on the rich eisen show. So you just mentioned your history of working with John lynch prior to being in the general manager spot and no one Carl Shannon for as long as you do. What is your best guess as to what is the irreconcilable difference in deebo Samuel's mind to want out of San Francisco? I don't know. I've heard so many things. It was originally that he didn't want to be used the way he's used. Well, that's okay, fine. We'll put that in. Then I heard it was that he wanted to be closer to home, which is an odd thing for a young man. Okay, fine. And now the most recent thing is that, well, look, you just need to start a new and let's just, I don't think I don't think San Francisco was going to trade him. And if he had traded, I think it would be in the next couple of days. I don't think it'll be draft day. But just knowing how valuable he is to Kyle and knowing how much they love him there in San Francisco. I don't think they want to hold him hostage in any way, but I just can't imagine they can't come over there. They're differences and make this thing work. Ian rapports said earlier this month that they do want to pay them. They do. I know they do. And I think that they will pay him. And I do believe they're trying desperately to figure this thing out because he is such a special player to them. And he might be more valuable to them than any other team in the NFL. Well, I mean, you know, the idea that he didn't want to be or doesn't want to be in San Francisco because it's not Carolina, right? Where he's from, we saw a video of him working out here in Los Angeles. So this is his spare time if he wants to be on the east coast so badly. Why is he training in Los Angeles? There was a story on Instagram story yesterday of him at nobu and Malibu. Well, I'm sure there's some fine places to eat in the Carolinas too. But you're out here, you're in Malibu. So that one's interesting and the other part is like, you know, I don't want to be and I'm not knocking the guy. He's unlockable. There's nothing to know. There's nothing. I don't want to be used that way. And that's looking confident directly, but that's what we're hearing. I watched some interviews back at the Super Bowl. He was on with Maya coco in Comcast. He said, I want to have a thousand yards rushing in receiving. So is that the case? You might want to play running back too. I don't know. So I think that there's a lot of things coming out of devos camps and a lot of the women are from him directly and I don't know, rich it's a different time in a player players want to be where they want to be. And if he was to actually be traded from San Francisco, I would be shocked, but I can't be surprised by anything at this point. Devonta Adams left Green Bay, which seemed like a pretty good situation to me as well..

What they stand for is is not being a victim and that's what they're music. Resume speaks to people who have trouble putting those words together themselves and why they identify with it. Let's get to know what made them tick. And and that ended up itself. I think gives this thing a inciteful. Lean you know the if the diehards of red you know pulse. I book you might know some of that. You know But most of the stuff hasn't really been shaped in the form of a documentary in this fashion. But you're right a lot of it. I'm sure there are. There are fans going up her park before. I can't not walk you through that part of their history to get to the next point that i think may yet may add more insight to a die. Hard fan on the on the aces. Peter issue. I like i said. I know the ace part of it. Extraordinarily well because john dorsey was contacting me to contact him and was very. I'll give him credit was super persistent about it. Work in me ason. Every i don't have anything to do with as professionally. It's just. I've known him forever and we we used signed him back in the day and we're still friends and he lives near me now and it's all good but i mean he makes his own call of course in his own decisions. I just put it on his radar. So i know were ace was coming from about right or wrong. How he felt I know that john had said that he actually physically went out. Met with peter and his wife about it. I don. I was not as in tune with what where they were coming from on it and i don't know if it was like a unified thing one does it the other the other so show. Can you tell the fans like from your knowledge where the breakdowns were and was one closer to doing it. Then the other would you have taken one without the other. I know they're independent. People but from a production standpoint. John said from the gecko. We're going to just do it with you know with existing interviews if they won't do it But where where. Where did it like. You know where where from your vantage point. Were you told that the breakdown came where it was. Finally just decided. Hey we're moving on and that's that the i have i have zero insight into the situation By the time. I started poking around i would get fairly Serious emails a please do not contact our client again. And so it's like there's there's not a lot of room there for but can i tell you how i want to bring this to light. And so that was unfortunate. I'm not sure how that got so sideways I'm and and he may be one hundred percent in the right. I literally don't know how he was approached eighth. I have a little bit more in town. That i know it came to you and i actually went with john. One night to meet ace as really experience in calabasas california and the funny thing was that was actually at dinner. Paul's that night randomly. And i got a text from john. You want to join me to go see. The thing was like absolutely been paul son. Was there you know. Evan was there and and by the way if you ever get. I'm sure you've seen it. Nighttimes aced destroys. He's so effing good like it was just it was a. It was an incredible show backstage. And that's me was. The knowledge was mine to my knowledge. The first time john had been face to face with as i don't know i think there's been a lot of emails prior to that But that's where. That was. The first i had heard of basically You know a low financial offer. Which sadly wasn't you know. I don't think as believed it but it wasn't a lie like this thing was made on a on a on a budget that let's say is not necessarily what some of the streamers are putting towards. Doc's these days you know It was done with heart and passion but it just wasn't a big Wasn't a big paychecks. you'll make this thing Now people have certainly stuck their necks out. And it's a big number two a lot of other people i think ultimately that that performance number felt Fake and i think that Maybe launching this with a better With more respect for maybe what a an industry standard number might have been probably would've move that needle. Because i think ace ace. You know. I mean. I've heard him say it on your show. You think there should be a movie about him. you as you should draft it but the He did on this show right. No by the way. I'd be happy to be up for. That'd be also a fascinating character. You know gee one you can take some of that. I mean i know you pulled some audio from my past interviews and the doc you could you could you. You do your whole doc on on as from my shows alone. Because there's stuff about there's something about spaceships landing in his backyard. I mean you got a toddler man. The i mean the ace thing and and and what early conversations. I had with gene when this thing was coming together When when i started really heavily involved was he said it was so important to him. That ace and peter had a big presence in the movie It was literally the only note. I got from him in. Paul him and paul never said. Stay away from anything that ever said. We don't wanna talk about that. There was not a subject matter that a spirit away from me. I mean probably the first cut i had. I don't know everything was cut long. So i may. I probably first time. I showed him anything. He's probably eight minutes of the elder you know. And they're like okay. Whatever you know that. I'd love to see a hardcore fan..

"Wanted Sam Donald for the Cleveland Browns. I wanted it to have a John Dorsey had just taken over. And leading up to that time, The Browns were famous for leaks, Famous for leaks and things going on in the MCA nations inside and all these other things that just seemed to make it look like a circus. What John Dorsey did, I thought was really smart. He kept it to himself. He knew what he had. Hiss circle was about as tight and I mean, as anybody could find, And maybe it was just to himself at that time. I don't even know if the owners knew. And there were certain things maybe. Suggested to certain people. To see if they would say things to certain people to see about whether or not they keep your job, but whether or not they could be trusted. And as a person who Likes to talk as a person who is ahead just like anybody else and likes the clock. I think I was used as a patsy fact I know it. So a couple of weeks before the draft about three weeks before the draft. Pounded the table one morning, said it, Sam Donald. I'll stake. I'll stake the sources on it. I'll stake I hate to say it. I said, Let's take the reputation on it. Put it down. Sam Donald number one overall boom 216578 double 0 92. Three weeks later, Baker Mayfield Now, people in Cleveland didn't care. Old takes exposed. Got ahold of it. We had some fun. I was a patsy. And that experience you know if we don't learn from him. We put ourselves in a bad position later on. And I thought that people were being used as a patsy in 2021. I had to go back to the 2018 draft process to think about that. And while I did that, even though I was being worked into a shoot, I was being used as a patsy. I still bought in and still went down all the different stories leading up to the 2018 draft, and I made a list of my maid, a tracker of Called the 2018. Brown's 2018. Brown's draft leads tracker. All the leads all the stories, all the craziness. I'll do it for you. There's gonna be references and jokes that you might not get cause you're listening in Columbia, South Carolina. You're listening in a desolate Texas or you're You're listening in Vancouver, Canada. There might be a couple here, but ultimately you're going to see what happened Not even four years ago. So where it is right now, and it's gonna make a lot of sense to you. Because a lot of history repeats itself and we saw this back in 2018 when you had Sam Darnel and Mayfield and Alan and Rosen and Lamar Jackson and you see it in 2021, where you have Jones and Lawrence and Fields and Lance You see the same thing play out. And I don't think the fans got worked. The fans had a lot of common sense. I think a lot of media hedge and I'll bring up more that more of that coming up at 10:40 A.m. Eastern I think the media hedged. I think the media covered their ass. A lot of media cover their ass on this. And I think that they're trying to scramble right now. And I think a lot of them Thank God on Thursday night and into the future for Bill Belichick is Bill Belichick is gonna make him right. They think about Bill They love Bill. They know Bill. They know Bill's the best and Bill Belichick because Matt Jones fell to 15 is going to make them right. But going back to 18 just to show you how crazy 2021 is. I hope your nose ready because this is going to use up a lot of my breath. Here and I'll go ahead and hit it. 2018.

"That rocket mortgage can let's head to the phone lines right now, Before we get back to your phone calls, Let's talk to Matt Verte Ram of fans side It will talk to him about the news in the NFL and also a Super Bowl 55 man. How's it going, My man? I'm great. How are you? Let's start with Carson wins. I'm sure you saw by now. The Albert Breer tweet that that the Eagles are warning the same compensation that the lines got for Matthew Stafford, But that seems absolutely ridiculous to me. Yet insane. I e. A team that gives the Eagles that kind of compensation every damn the league gonna call that team up and see what they could get some of their cast offs. Eagle. Don't want Carter like they want to move him. It's clear as day. That's been clear well before there's a report from Adam Schefter, Chris Mortensen, he wanted him gone. They want her to be the quarterback moving forward here to what you can do. So you see what you're doing You a favor by taking cartoon like something you could rebuild it. If you can figure things out nothing that's impossible. But There's no way I'm getting one person out. Pick isn't larceny, let alone two I think that it seems like the Jets and I would understand it. From this perspective, they pick 23. So have you got a back half first round pick for Carson wins, and you're willing to sort of bet on the future that not too long ago. He was one of those guys who was an M V P candidate looked like a potential franchise quarterback, and it's still under 30 years old, that if you could get him the right structure and right coaching And a defense like we think they're going to be able to build in New York with their new head coach, You could turn things around. I'm with you. I wouldn't feel comfortable trading a first round pick for Carson Wentz, but I also think that sort of the price of doing business if you want to trade for a quarterback in the NFL. The only thing that I could realistically make the argument for my eyes like, okay, I get it is Indianapolis. Because right was there when they when they won the Super Bowl, And that was the year of course, once got Hurley. They're having a 50 year. You talk to people around the league, so people really feel like no right was the coach. Who had the biggest hands and developing once that year, along with the Filippo. Um So I get this little fellow is Chicago, Which is why Chicago is going so hard after one No one to look their attacks, but they know that if it doesn't work next year Oregon and souls isn't the answer. It's rubbish. He's gone, so I had it for me. The Bears That's looking anything like I just I don't see, like right, at least in Indianapolis. The buck stops with him. He's the guy. We're if people just gone ahead and there's a lot that's moving, plus. I think you need to hear the colt. I get it. You may You may need a little something back. Well, if you're gonna go over first, maybe won't sanction like a third or fourth round pick too. But that one I get these other teams. I just I can't stop giving a pervert round pick for a guy. It was so terrible defensive. They would think that soon enough. I don't understand that. Let's keep it with quarterbacks before we transition to the Super Bowl. What did you make of the lines and ram straight? I'm a little bit frustrated with the timing of it, So I got off the air two minutes prior to the deal being done, so I didn't get a chance to talk about it last week. What did you make of the lines and ran straight? It's a great trade from behind and I don't heat it to the ranch. But he was online who are clearly a rebuilding team. You get a cop 100 pick this year Grasses third round, popping under picked another another chess piece, and then you get two first round picks. I don't love God, I think you can average quarterback, but that's not terribly You're the lions. It gives you some stability, right? Like you bring him in. He maybe convene the birds here, Except that it is John Dorsey. Not that torture was not Driving force he brought Holmes was who's the new GM control for the raft? Dorothy over saw something where you know they brought it out of Smith in Kansas City. In the beginning, Alex Smith was maybe not going to be the guy who got him over the hump. But it came in your professional gives him some stability. I could be costing in that guy's head for the ranch standpoint. You're better today. The problem. I have it, and I know there's a big argument about something all sides of a valid one. Is a major product. You don't have a first round pick for seven straight years of all the people who say Well, it doesn't matter if you're getting good players. It doesn't matter when you're capped out to the hill because you're paying six guys 65% of your salary cap. Then it match and the Rams. I look at them. Are they better? Yes. Are the Super Bowl favorite stuff, But I don't have the best team. No division, so I Kate, but I don't like it as much for the ranch. I love it for Detroit who's clearly looking toward the future anyway? No, you and I are in the same place, at least when it comes to the Lions. I mean, I don't think the golf contractors may be as bad as some people think that it is. I mean, you were already going to be paying staff for your only locked in for two more years and with the future compensation, So this year, you understands going to be a lean year. The lines they've been having lean years for as long as we can remember, But if you look forward mean if you got four first round picks in two years You can, in theory, go get your quarterback, So if there's a quarterback that comes out in these next two years, there's nothing stopping you from having the ammunition to go up and go get that guy. Correct. You couldn't be bad in all likelihood. And you're gonna have a lot of big time draft out. Here's everything. That's what's been hurt the last couple years and he played all the games. Your views hurt. What's to say he doesn't get hurt again with the Rams and the rands or 6 10. I mean that that could be a top contact. I'm not saying idea would but sounds and 2033 years old. He's gonna end up pretty significantly the last couple seasons. I mean, I need most seasonally. You're one quarterback interview away from being in the top 10 top 12 territory so The little white. Even it's not even about the pig in the mid twenties. Fine. So pick you have all this ammunition now. You can go out and and and they move with, so I think But I like it a lot before they weren't wearing any with Stafford. Anyway, it might as well be younger. Get get some pics..

"Know I've made the comment that that's the best quarterback. That's the best college quarterback I've ever evaluated, and so Then you're just trying to, like stealth out of the airport with no one seeing you not stop. Medic, Coffee shop, Not getting any picture Take And you just on to the next school like we didn't even go there And and yeah, you know, There were all the other checks all the other things that you can't see on video with personalities. Fantastic. He's He's one of those guys that's probably always hanging out in the gym when he was in high school. Um, he comes from an athletic family. He's got a bright smile. Um You know, I mean, it was it was all there and to see the success he's having. We were picking 11. Andy went to 10 and assumes that trade took place. We knew that was for my homes and we were staring at Latimore in my home, so those were too good scenarios. But he's fun to watch it. Certainly tough to defend. Stick the knife in and twist around alone. Now, maybe four years later. It's a little easier, convenient for Shawn to say what he just said about what he scouted that day because we know how great Mahomes is. But if he walked if he's being honest, And he walked out of that meeting. They left Le Bic. They got back on Mickey Loomis, who's not making this easy. Who's the owner? Benson? They got back on Mr Benson's plane, and he said to his group That's the best college quarterback I've ever evaluated. I don't want to hear about how well the Bears can't be blamed because nobody had Mahomes going that high. I wish someone smart enough to evaluate quarterbacks was in the Bears organization because there were people that saw it after his sophomore season Bread Beach. Was then doing college scouting for Andy. And this is John Dorsey was still the gym went to Andy Reid and said, This will be our next quarterback. This is our quarterback of the future, not after his junior season after a sophomore season. So obviously there are people out there. That know what they're looking at the smart ones. You guys. Some people can evaluate quarterbacks better than others. Some guys can evaluate certain positions. Whether it's they played that position in college, or they played against that position in college. They watched enough film watching something specific, where they were at what they understand a particular position. Or a position group and do very well. When they do they try to draft that group. And then sometimes there's a certain position. They're just terrible act. They're all flat. They all have strengths and weaknesses, right. I wish there was someone in the bear's building that had the strength to figure out How do we find a quarterback? Because they have with time and time again, and they did very bad but your weakness where whatever that weakness is go to the free agency market and find him in free agency. Don't try to get him in the draft. You don't know what the hell you're doing or looking for. Get him guy that's established to bring him in your program. Just say the hell with it. Here we go. So there were people out there that knew what they were looking at. And so you know, I'll never understand this argument. Over the years while you guys were being it's ridiculous. Nobody had Mahomes going that happy. Who cares? I don't care, Todd McShay and Mel Kiper. Well, I love Mel Kiper. We smells good at his job. Mel Kiper's not paid to pick the players for the organization's. He's not Kuipers, a draft analyst, draft and less rates player's overall grades never puts him in an order. I've never heard a lamer argument. Well, the draft experts didn't have him going that high. Who cares to add to that, too? They? They're limited by what they can do. You just heard Sean Payton talk about how they went to go to campus. They ahead of time gave him again Game plan and said, study this so that we When we get there, we can go over and see what you thought so they wanted to a Valium. You have been doing that. And Todd McShay don't have that accent. No, they do not. So if you know what you're doing. If you maybe have dinner with the Shawn Watson I mean, if you know what you're doing. You don't screw it up. And it's not easy to get over when the kids in his second straight Super Bowl when you don't know what you're doing after you draft him, you stand there with everybody there and go over. Everybody had thought he's acting number one guy. Exactly that shit. That's the first thing that would just make you scratch your head. Go, all boy. Oh, boy, you picked them because everybody said he was going to sporting news had him There's the operated quarterback. Good, good for the sporting news and like you would take it. You can come at it from every angle, too, because it's compounded by the fact that he traded up and took the wrong one had they set back at three. Because there were you know what? There were two generational quarterbacks in this draft now granted, Petricka Holmes is the best. But you know what? The consolation prize was to Shawn Watson. If for whatever reason, someone traded above you at two and came in and took Patrick Mahomes, You know what? You would have been sitting at three with Shawn Watson and he didn't give up any extra assets. Oh, no. They traded up and they took the wrong guy. It's craziness. So they've got to now start again. You're going to spend this offseason trying to find Your your quarterback, right? Like teddy upset. You've gotten the quarterback situation completely right? No. If we want enough games, no, Everything else is they're all good. Everything else is there. Yes, I mean, that's top notch, but you better find him..

"Which is interesting, because Brad Holmes, who is their new GM, their eyes from the Rams, she worked with the ranch for years and years and years and years and years and years and years, even go back to the ST Louis days, guys been around that organization forever. So he's been obviously very involved in the golf deal when he checked off back. They also brought in John Dorsey over the weekend. Who's got his fingerprints all over. Certainly what is going on in Cleveland, and he got iced right away there with the flying J. Jimmy has limb and also Kansas City's roster. Beach to a lot of great things getting the homes but a lot of the people on the chief's roster that air dominating right now John Dorsey drafted there, so I don't know what his role is there, but we'll get into it. But in any circumstance, John, I wholeheartedly disagree with you. I'm not trading Nick Bosa. Otherwise I'm gonna go out and get another Nick both. So where do I get a neck? Bosa Quarterbacks. You got to be on the market to some degree artist. Hang with Garoppolo went on to a damn thing. I'm not trading Nick Bosa. I'm not trading Fred Warner, and I'm not trading George Kettle. They are nonstarters. For May. I'd give up more draft picks. I would you. No, It's not like the NBA with salaries have to match you don't have to do that. I'm not giving up any of those three. Anybody else on the roster we can engage in conversation with unless I signed Trent Williams back then I'm not trading him either. But anybody else besides those three and that those three to me or completely untouchable? I'm not trading that. The only reason I said it is because how many times I can't really think of it. Can you get a quarterback of the age of 25? As good as he is, He's your quarterback for the next 10 years. You don't have to worry about the position and he is hate the word, but we use it all the time. He is elite. He is one of the top five quarterbacks in this game. And he can run it. He can throw it. He can win a shoot out for you for the top five most efficient offense is where the final four You gotta score points. I love Nick BOS I love Fred Warner. But if I give up one of those guys, I think I can find a linebacker easier than the Sean John Watson. I think I can find a pass rusher and he's elite elite elite elite. He might be a Hall of Famer. But the Sean Watson's a Hall of Famer the most important position you can have. I don't agree with that. I think George Kettles a better football player than to Shawn, Watch the Knick. Bos is a better football player. That is Shawn Watson. Fred Warner's a better football player than short. If you weigh the position, you think that I understand what you're saying, but I'm not gonna do it some other way. And you mentioned you know young quarterbacks. They don't become available because you have a franchise tag on the franchise tag. Really. What it was put in for was to protect Pat Bowlen, which John Elway it's called The John Elway will really On to your point. This scenario came up with L Davis years ago, and it always bring up You know, I got job, Rose. L wouldn't give me Elway. You know when Elway pulled the power play With the Earth's A's and where they babies still in Baltimore, then they're involved. It was a long time our calls, and they got Christian in a state of the art left tackle and some of the draft picks, But Elway so I was in that train. Oh, John Elway is a raider. You know much what? He loved that and he brought it up. I could have had Elway could handle way. Hit the documentary, Right. Welcome into something he never mentioned to me ever ever was that Holly long had to go on the trade. And he had never brought that up. But the way it was presented by some agents that were involved in an Elway's agent. Is that al wouldn't trade Howie Long and I could see were now going back on it Should he have Maybe. Maybe not. Elway didn't went to late in his career. How he was ah, centerpiece of a great defense that one of the championship right away, So maybe that's debatable. But you just You can't do it. It breaks your heart and I would put Bosa In that same category. You know, maybe time would say you could should have done that. I would not do that. I don't think of the same team. You no longer have the gold rush. He's a guy you drafted number two. Overall, You developed him. I don't care that he's sorry He's going to come back. They come back off a CL so I just wouldn't do it. I go get somebody else. And right now I'm gonna love watching is gonna be available. You know, Matthew Stafford's the guy. We'll talk to the day Burkett from the Detroit Free Press about you know what you have to give up to get him, But I I don't agree with that. I would not trade Bosa. I would not Trade Warner. I would not trade Kittle. It does not mean you can't put a package together to get watching. Other teams will probably give up more. You get him? I just would not trade any of those of even if you did it. You know what if he did it straight up? No, that we could have a discussion. If I don't have to give you three extra draft picks or two extra draft picks, it would not be Bosa. The other one's possibly if that's it. If it's just a one on one trade player for player, I still would be reluctant to do that. I don't know, you know, but they're not gonna do that. They're gonna wind up getting a lot more in return than just a player for player trade. All right. Like you said, We'll talk about the Matthew Stafford situation that could be realistic. David Birkett from the free Press. In Detroit. As you said, he's written a list about it, and we'll get the inside on why they came to a mutual decision to trade Matthew Stafford the offseason we'll do it next. Only here on the SportsCenter..

"A football Friday at that a championship championship weekend. It's going to be glorious. I'm gonna miss football on Saturday. You know, That's why I left. I know that Z When I get depressed like it's I'm happy. I can't wait for Sunday. I've gotten used to these busy Saturdays where there's at least two games on Saturday. Let me see if the Blackhawks have some Saturday matinees that you could dial into Um, I guess for now, you know the back of the United Center, though tonight It is a busy weekend, so they're finally back home. It's the wings coming to town. The bulls are an action too. I mean, it does show you though, doesn't it? The power of the pigskin the flower of the pigs, like we've all been good games like and we wait for it. And then when it's here, we just roll around in it, and then when it not even when it's over, But like when were a few weeks from it actually, being over. We still have championship weekend that we get a week off, and then we get the big game. We're already lamenting the boy that will be created without the National Football League starting the What is it? The third Or the second weekend in February. I don't know if you know this what I contend to be a glass half empty guy. No on like when the regular season ends. I'm like, Oh, I'm so sad that the Red Zone won't be visited again and channeled 54. Till September. No more red zone and so said, And then I love my plants. I'm watching my plaster, then going into championship weekend and I'm like I'm so sad that there is no Saturday games. And then you know, before the Super Bowl, I'm gonna be like this Bye week sucks. I'm so sad. There's no football this weekend. You're the guy that wins the $500 Million Powerball and you're pissed because they give it to you in $5 bills with that I would never be mad about. I would love for that to happen. Something to be pissed about. It said Did someone win recently, too? Because I got olive. I don't I don't believe the power ball was one My wife went around the house and asked all of us for five numbers and then the Powerball number. We gave them to her. We did. I don't believe we had a single number all individually. I've played Maga millions last Friday. I believe mega millions draws against tonight. I believe it's just under a billion. Or maybe it's a it's past two billion by the time they take it all in Yeah, it Zambezia Clea, a billion dollar lottery prize up for grabs tonight on the mega Millions. I believe you always did. Like you never hear anything about the latter. Never hear anything that all of us on that it grows and it grows and everyone's like, Oh, yeah. You hear how big it is now, it's worth to play. So do that lottery drawing on G n? I don't know. I don't know. Are they still on the air? G n No, I'm kidding. I'm not getting in any of any of the fighters way we do, ever way have a new update on the Gene Greco? Uh, W g m morning news fight they they took to the airwaves again this morning that I'll get to I want to get a lot of participation today, whether 3323776 whether it's still do this Shawn Watson and the Bears conversation whether it's your thoughts on the playoff weekend and who you want to see win versus who you think is gonna wait. It's always a good conversation. Like Who do you want in your Super Bowl? You know what I mean? By the way, Patrick Mahomes has cleared concussion protocol. Oh, that's big, Shocking. I'm sure I'm not surprising. He's there's not been much drama always happens. I would say to you, though, that does not to me. Signal the all clear because it does from the concussion perspective of remember, He's a guy that also I believe that only Josh Allen ran had more success running the ball on third down this year. And Patrick Mahomes. And remember Patrick Mahomes before he got the concussion was dealing with a bit of a foot spring, right? Right. Atonement, our foot injury, right? And while looking and running with a bad foot running after you were in concussion protocol, you may be a little bit. Less likely to do it because of all that I like. I like the buyer Carmen today I like the bills, and I don't think for the record, I don't think there is AH, bad Super Bowl with these four teams left, I think and any way you slice it now, a lot of bears fans root against Aaron Rodgers. But seeing Aaron Rodgers back in the Super Bowl lot of drama, he's the reigning. He could be the M V p this year. If Tampa wins, you've got the goat in the Super Bowl. If Mahomes wins in Kansas City, you've got a guy going for two in a row and a guy who ultimately Could be the greatest ever and the bills are a fun and hot team to watch. By the way. I forgot to mention this yesterday, but you sent me the article from the athletic, the detailed, like like, Remember when, when Rich Campbell and Dan waiter or went through the process of how The Bears didn't draft to Shawn Watson and went through that the athletic did really good article on how the Kansas City Chiefs focused in on Shaw are. Excuse me, Patrick. No homes. And how bread beach. Who's their current GM? How involved he was It was a really good read. So I thank you for sending me that article. Yeah, well, the hook with that two going into it, and they were talking about it this morning as well. Miller played a sound, but I think from one of the scouts from Buffalo who no longer works there, But it was about the pick in which Patrick Mahomes ended up going was traded T Kansas City by the Buffalo From Buffalo. So now they've filled some voids. They have drafted some other good players, and then they ended up getting Josh Allen. S so it doesn't hurt as much as the bears, but they just continued to point out about how in that article. That hook and how pace went rogue again is well, well, yeah, that's the part to me was if you want to talk about collaboration do you want to read about true collaboration? Read that article because every member The Kansas City Chiefs brain Trust from their general manager down to some of their some of their assistant coaches. They were all on board. With this election, and they were all consulted, and everybody's opinion mattered well, and that's why when, when we circle back to the Bears thing and have brought this up a lot this week, when you look at Kansas City getting it right in your legacy, juvie those 10 other teams got it wrong from a home. So Ryan page, not not a big deal. Well, Kansas City had this brain trust up there, all right. It starts with the Hall of Fame coach and a guy who runs that organization in Andy Reid. It goes to John Dorsey, who at the time was there..

"Bagha Sunshine that Joey bag Adona Joey Bag of sunshine. Yeah, it's full of sunshine. He's He's a bright one. I wouldn't want to keep the sunshine in a bag. You wanna let it out? Let it warm people, But that's what Joey says. That's his name. He tweets and he said Sylvie listening to you on the air now. You want a new president? I get it What George is saying His pace is in effect the president when it comes to football decisions. Ted is business. Ryan is football and they don't need anyone else above Ryan. That's what I hear George Cinq. And Joey bag ascension. I understand you but Ryan, but But Ted Phillips is in charge because right answered too right. He is in charge of evaluating Ryan Pace. He is in charge of advising George McCaskey. When it comes to firing and hiring. He is in charge of running the entire operation. That when the top football guy says, Look, I want a ghost, Everybody I'm ghost in them. I'm on my own here from the draft, and I'm not letting my coach know who I'm drafting here, and I'm not letting anyone know I'm trading from 3 to 2. I'm not letting anyone talk me out of it. While the Chiefs have Andy Reid, Matt Nagy can a job is a John Dorsey on Brett's Beach. What? What? Who is it? John Dorsey was John Dorsey and Bread Beach. All hands on deck. So you've got bread Beach you've got who's going to brilliant mind. Andy Reid, who's going to his offensive coordinator, Quarterbacks coach and John Dorsey used the general manager and they're putting all these guys under the microscope. Ryan is saying, I'm I'm so I don't want to be talked out of this. And if you had a correct checks and balances if his boss was doing it right, it was holding his feet to the fire. That wouldn't be involved because you would say to yourself like there's a huge decision. You want this to be investigated by everybody. We should have dissenting voices, Ryan. I get it that you're convicted. But we need we're right. We need to go over the pros and cons of all this is kids only played 13 collaborations and new concept Right now. It's new, You know, it's not collaborations in new new idea. I get that Ryan's the top football guy. I need a new boss period because it's not George. Robert invents Annville. You're on ESPN 1000. What's up, Robert? Hey, guys, I'm on 3 55 now, But you know it don't matter, so I usually listen to you guys. Under podcasts. I'm usually a daily or a few hours late, and I heard the interview did and you know you start pressuring him about tests and he answers about you know, I don't judge them by a week or a game or months. I judge him on the whole totality, and he said he was there for 21 years. So I did my own work, and I went 20 years. Tends to look as the president his position with the most points position 24 quarterbacks in 20 years. 24 20 years. You use those numbers. That's like one quarterback a year. I know Calder was here for eight. Mitch was here before you take those 12 years now they could have left called earlier. But this is the totality If I'm able to do the totality of this guy, Ted Phillips awful Wikipedia. What have you guys looking at The same? What? 24 quarterbacks in 20 years and I think about three or four of them were drafted. Maybe five out of 20 years. And this is the guy that says you know what? I believe him. I trust him. This is unbelievable. Unbelievable. Robert. Thank you. You're absolutely right. It's just like what Bill Bob Hall for now. Bob pull for played Bob Pulford in the Hockey Hockey Hall of Fame and coached But the old man words just poorly. This pulley that and losing, losing losing and it wasn't until they change things. So the Hawks came out of the dark, dark ages. And it's same way with George now Lincoln Park. Alice is on the line. Shout out to the twitch crew. What's up? Lincoln Park, Alice. Thanks for doing the shadow for me. I've got a bit of Ah ha! Staking it may or may not rub our favorite 85 their water the wrong way. But part of me thinks that may be the worst thing that happened. The Bears franchises the 1985 season and what I mean by that is that it gave Ownership. Something to continue to sell 2030 where you probably 50 years from now, because we're not gonna have another Super Bowl victory to our name. You looking in analogous franchise like the Steelers, and they had an equally Iconic defense with the steel curtain. You don't see people going behind feels wearing those as many old jerseys as you do, going to soldiers being on leaf eating jerseys and dick but history the All this thing does his own a soldier because itself and that's all they care about. And it means that we're Developing the sense of complacency among fans do not accept anything new because we always have something to look back on in the 1985 pairs. Have a good day, guys. Thanks. Yeah. Look how many how many young fans even remember the 85. We know that most don't mean so you can't like that's not their selection of dollar were were young. I think they were born in 85 words. You guys born in 85? Yep. Like so 85 is I mean, you're like you, You probably associate more with E. The old five team, right? Or maybe it wasn't a fun. Yeah, I mean, it's not you not you guys are going so like in response to the collar. Look, I mean, there's plenty of fans right now that have really no recollection of the 85 pairs, right? It would have been like me when I was a kid and an 85 never happened. People like Talking about the 63 bears and I knew from the 63 bears is reading. You know what I mean? Like I was Born after the 63 bears like this, do you? Do you think when Ryan Pace made his decision about which quarterback to pick He had it on his brain. Or, you know, this really isn't gonna matter. Because we make a lot of money. I make money. You know, we can lean back on the 85 team if they said no. Ryan Pace doesn't make those decisions based on some sort of comfort level that has created because the assets worth a couple of billion they evaluating pace based on that that no matter what Right whether Ryan got my homes or he got Travis Key. Hey, where the Bears were okay? Yeah, I mean again. I think it is. I think it's is poor decision making more than it is anything from top to bottom, But it hurt Maura, Another owner. Would it hurt? Jerry Jones more? I don't know. I mean, Jerry Jones consistently makes bad decisions as well. Right? I mean, like that decisions are just a A. You know, a disease that that resides in Lake Forest. I mean, there are plenty of organizations to make bad decisions. It's not my job to hold the Cowboys accountable, though. I mean like Look again. I I think that they have made some really bad choices. Think from top to bottom. I don't dismiss Ryan Paces mistake's because he's got some level of Of certainty with his job because everybody makes a lot of money is Ted in the position he's.

"Gary Kubiak recommends Jordan made, um So you know, there's there's I think it's honestly I think it's those two names with Terry found on third. That's what that's the way I feel and the other names are not real contenders. Dave Ziegler's not gonna get this job. Um and and so, you know, I think that if you're looking at this, and um askew go into this. There's a scenario where if you like them both. There's a scenario where you could come away with potentially both of them. Oh, I'd love that love that. Just a thought. Just something to mull around hasn't been brought up yet. I'll be gone Most. Everybody to this point is either said that they wish there were other names. Some of the bigger names that John Dorsey's of the world out there They mean, it didn't seem like that. That's really direction that they wanted to go. They didn't want to go with the Over established former GM of a team They wanted to go with one of the more the young up in coverage. And I guess that begs the question then Ben is that is that likely the best. Decision for the Broncos. They the wide net, the critical white net or a lot of guys that that haven't been G M's but have been right there and they've taken interviews, and some of them had experience with this organization. Some have not. What do you think about the neck that they ultimately decided to cast makes a good net. I think they have good candidates and there. I would not have interviewed Ziegler with the rest of them. Um, I understand what they're doing. You know you and getting a different perspective from a different organization. I think that if it's me, um You know, it's interesting to me how in this particular search people like, Well, they didn't your view people with previous GM experience. But when you get to a head coaching search, it's the opposite. They're all like We don't want to reach red. And so I find that amusing. The disparity between the two I think that all these guys have plenty of experience. They've all been around and in front office experience for a decade, plus, most of about 15 years. So you know if there's a scenario, which you could get two of these guys, you feel both of my qualified enough to have general manager If you get two of these guys in your front office to me, that's that's a no brainer. And for that, to happen would be paid. This gentle manager and champion is pro papers Now where you move up from assistant. Yeah, promotion for both right. And then that would be opportunity. And you be basically looking at the future of what would be your front office right there. George Payton has a connection to Had Sherman Yes. Uh, Champ Kelly has connections to Nick Foles and Vic Fangio and John Elway. Um, you know, And so I think that either one of those guys in the scenario where you could get both, I think are ideal. Okay, So let me ask you about Brian Stark. Who's in the in House candidate and and the right now kind of slated the interview last, which is sort of funny. The only reason I bring up is because the last two coaching hires a John Elway made corsets. Coincidently, the last people he interviewed Beings. Joseph and Vic Fangio ended up being last on that group. So I'm not saying that it's good news for Bryant Stark. But I guess if you want to make a last impression, that is where you get a chance to do that, But Let's just take this on its face here if they decide to go with Brian Stark. What does that say? Says they weren't impressed with the other candidates. Okay? Says they weren't on the same page with those guys and the in house guy was on the same page with where they wanted to go. Is that because there I think a lot of Broncos fans will be a bit underwhelmed. That's not just taking with a way for Brian Start because I think Brian start deserves opportunities as well. I mean, he's done a good job scouting for this team. He's their director of scouting, but The fact is, people will say it's gonna be more of the same in that respect in this team has been losing so people will find ways to complain about anything. Well, they've already started to complain about this group. They're under out there. Let's just say there are they even named a general manager. Yet they haven't even interviewed. All these guys had their already complaining. That's that's what that's what hater, you know, Hater. Ade gets You hate a radio. All those guys, you know? It's just rip rip everything find a way to complain about it. We're not gonna do that here. Um, the it says that they weren't on the same page. I don't think that's gonna happen. And I think that the reason you're interviewing him last because you're giving everybody a chance to, you know, to convince you otherwise and then go to the gatehouse guy. The the reason that they interviewed the head coaches last Was because they did like them. They were the prohibitive favorite little bit differently. The gentleman's situation. You look for something to replace you not submit a report to you in that regard, you know, um, a decision maker. And so John Elway had some favorites. And he decided to let the other guys interview first to convince him and move him off. That favorite not have did With this particular situation, I would suggest that it's not the same thing. Having someone go last is not the same as it was during the head coach stuff. In fact, it's coincidental. I know I'm just I'm just having a little bit of fun. This particular situation I would almost say would go the other direction. Could be favorites would've interviewed first and then well, it's certainly based on your reporting. I would say that's I would say that in the favorites interviewed first in this scenario, Okay, So you know you're the first person that's brought up the idea of of multiple guys here because you're right. It would be a promotion for both put and I, You know, I think that that is invaluable. I think that getting Smart guys like surrounding yourself with smart people is a way to be successful. You know, Find yourself smart people that are capable of disagreeing with you Surround yourself with those kind of people and you'll always be. You always do well. I don't have any year contracts. Are you looking for these guys like for whatever the GM because I mean, certainly there's a lot going on with his organization from the ownership side of things. Obviously, you're talking about eventually John Elway stepping out altogether the organization if not next year than around that time. Certain..

Browns Make It Official

"We will start with the official news out of Cleveland Scavenge to ban skis hired by the browns. They announce officially on Monday. He's thirty seven. Spent fourteen seasons as an assistant in Minnesota but has never been a head coach at any level level his entire. NFL coaching career. As I mentioned has been with one organization the Minnesota Vikings Stansky took over play calling duties on offense late in the two thousand eighteen season. Minnesota ran the ball. Forty seven percent of the time with Danske asked the play caller. That's the second highest rate in that span trailing only the Baltimore Ravens was introduced at a press conference just a little while ago. I the foremost success starts with people and I know we'll talk a lot about culture but it is absolutely about the people and everybody knows the Harry Truman quote. It's amazing what you can accomplish when no one cares who gets. That's the credit and that's what I believe. We have in our building. We have great people. I know we're going to add to it will hire G. G. M. here in the next week can or two and we're going to add to this culture that that we're building here and we have the right people and again. I can't stress enough. How excited I am the be? Just a part of did you know to use a basketball terms to my dad can understand this. I want to be the point guard for this organization. I want to bring the ball up then I wanNA share the basketball and let so what else get an easy bucket though smiling over there. WE'RE NOT GONNA I'M NOT GONNA speak anything into existence right now I can. I promise you that we're GONNA work. I've already spoken to a few of our players already. And that's what I'm about I'm about working and I'm about putting a foundation together the other. We will be methodical about it. We will not skip. Step two two and three to get to four. We're GONNA start in the foundation and then we're going to reinforce foundation Shen said we can build upon it and when I'm talking about this I'm talking about schemes and technique will be diligent about working with our players so that they can develop into the the best versions of themselves and ultimately we're building a foundation for what we hope is a championship. Effort will have a culture of accountability. We'll have structures is in place the players will understand our rules. And what we're about and we're going to demanding and we're going to hold each player accountable. Because ultimately I know this about players they they May Not come out and ask you for that. But that's what they want. Well perhaps the tenth. TIME IS THE CHARM IN CLEVELAND. Stansky is the tenth full time head coach Wjr. The browns have hired since returning to the League in one thousand nine hundred ninety nine that is the most in the league over that span of the previous nine. None have posted a winning record. Heard and not a single one has lasted more than four seasons continuity and consistency has been a real issue in Cleveland. Victor certainly something they'd like to you see changes to fanciest step in the right direction. In your opinion will I believe he is and I think that consistency where it is important. And right because you put up that list of all the coaches and the coaches that they've they've pretty much funneled through throughout the years can you provide that level of stability that they've been seeking for almost a year in and year out. Can you provide that for their now. The thing I do like about Stansky a fan ski is that he has experience with creating plays for two star receivers and I think that's something that's going to have to translate over to the Cleveland. Browns obviously with Odell Beckham junior junior and Jarvis Landry and having that experience I'm sure enticed of that for an office inside bring him in and understanding that they got to get the best out of these players in the best out of all their play makers obviously nick included In the backfield now is he going to be a leader of men and he is he going to be able to handle. The Eagles and the different personalities is that are in that locker room. Desk the biggest question that still remains to be seen. It's defense gas interviewed with the browns. Before in fact it's believed that he was the first source of politics but Desta several seasons ago and and it didn't work out. Matt you spent time with him as part of that Minnesota Vikings Organization. What can you tell us right? He he was a young quarterback coach at the time. And so when I got there was actually a little bit older than he was which is an interesting dynamic but at the same time. He's been all around that building. You know he's an administrative assistant and when he started there then. He was a quarterback coach. He's I've been with the running backs he's been with the wide receivers so he's been in all the different elements of the offensive side of the ball. He's seen the ups and downs. He's seen how free agency can impact so he's got a great feel feel. He's a great leader. He's got a presence about himself in the other thing that I think that the Cleveland browns are probably drawn to is the simple fact that this is a very quarterback friendly offensive structure that he's presented presented in for a guy like Baker Mayfield that had had his struggles last year. And maybe some confidence issues. Maybe not though. Let's see the press conference the same time. It's a quarterback friendly. There's a lot of play action. There's a lot of movement of the pockets. A Lotta easy throws to be made screen. And then there's like you said that balance forty seven percent percent of the time the run the ball. There's great balance in that offensive structure in for a young quarterback and going into his third year after some struggles. I think this is a great fit for that organization Asian and going back to when they actually made this higher People in Cleveland were telling me that it was actually his run game because we see what he was able to do with Dowling Cook and how he was able to make become a good player to really a great one and he's a central part of that offense that we now see in Minnesota and that was a big part of it but in terms of now Cleveland going forward looking for GM the way it was explained to me is they really want these to head coach and gm to work as one. This is why they moved on. From John Dorsey Percy and Freddie Kitchens. They didn't feel like this was working together. So they're looking for someone who has the same vision and the analytics department obviously is of of crucial part of Cleveland. And what they're looking for a head coach and I think that's why Stefanski became that lead candidate because he's accepting of it. He wants to be part of that and You know I think I saw some reports out there about how Cleveland is demanding that their head coach presents the game plan to ownership and really the way it was explained to me. It's not so much that they want to see the game plan. They just want everyone to be in sync to go over to make sure they're all on the same page headed into the game. Well you can't blame him and and that is something that clearly was not the case. I think you make a great point. It's poor in that somebody come in and be able to work and mold Baker Mayfield but also be able to be the CEO and run this whole organization and have everybody else be accountable. I think Freddie Kitchens might have had one of those two things that went by the wayside outside the quarterback with the hiring in Cleveland. What it does mean? Is that every chair on the head. Coaching carousel is now accounted for. The browns were the fifth and final team to hire a new head coach in the off season. Three of the hires tires Stefanski as we just discussed Joe Judge with the giants and Matt Raw and Carolina our first time. NFL head coaches the other two quite the contrary contrary Mike McCarthy in Dallas Ron Rivera in Washington they will get a second chance or in some cases third or fourth various established. NFL head coaches of of all the five. Who Intrigues you? The most in their new spot intrigues me is Matt Rule. I WanNa see what really transpires here right. He seven years sixty million dollar contract. That's a big commitment big commitment. I mean we might need to think about going into coach. That's it has everything else that they're also saying that they're making a commitment to Cam Newton with the type of style and the offensive structured. That they've set up McCaffrey's there I mean they've got the pieces of the puzzle there now. It's interesting to see how that that offensive structure from college translates to the NFL. which is I mean? There's been guys like chip Kelly in the past right John Harbaugh's price guy. That's been the most successful but that was more of a pro style offense with the most the most recent Kingsbury in Arizona so cliff Kingsbury. Excuse me it's been a mixed bag. There's no question. Let me ask you this just circling back to something you said by hiring Matt rule it you believe this means a commitment to Cam Newton. Can you explain why why I just think that The Baylor and watching their offense of structure and the RPO that takes place that's run pass options and all the different things that they're well versed in and that the Baylor offense has been historically historically very successful with in terms of that offense of structure I just think that that Fits Cam Newton's game very well and so I believe that that's a statement saying look. We wanted to bring somebody in here that you're going to be comfortable in this type of offense of structure and go out and be able to put yourself in a position to have success extent to intrigue you for me. Is Joe Judge my beloved giants. I think well I just think because going into it. Once I saw the Vacancy Happen at the head coaching position I was all right. The giants are GonNa come in here and get either like a Ron Rivera type or even McCarthy and get a guy that will come in and commanding presence. Once he walks into the building and I think with the hiring of Joe Judge just left me like okay I. It felt like the same cycle almost felt like coach mcadoo a couple years ago when you give a guy a shot and bring him in if he can transcend The coaching position or the year. After that when you bring in Pat Shurmur and you try to bring take a chance on another guy. Felt like we're taking another chance on another guy but granted. I must say I loved after the press conference I loved his mannerisms I love. He literally embodied what the New York Giants Football Organization is all about when he stepped up there on that podium Liam so I say that with a grain of salt because I love the press conference and I think he's going to bring something different than the other two coaches did in the past. But I still left me scratching my head in terms of who was out there here in the type of guys that could've came in that building and commanded a present these guys by the way Matt Rule and Gioja Geno. It's not about winning the press coverage but they did rule who was must see TV. I was just watching. He's missing time with the giants. Who so I knew all about? He's got does I think you know obviously recruiting such a big part of being a head coach in college. You don't mean to recruit You know when you're in the NFL. Which is why? I'm an agreement with you. I think that is the most enticing match COPA or at least the situation of the coaches just because you just look at history and making that jump from college the NFL. It's not easy and there just hasn't been a high success rate there. I think obviously he spent a little time with a giant. So it's not like he's

Browns Dismiss GM John Dorsey Days After Firing Head Coach Freddie Kitchens

"Let's get to it Sadly adly mark we gotta start with the browns. How did we get back here? We're back we're back to the bounds being the browns. They have fired yet. Another general manager her Cleveland parted ways with John Dorsey. After two years on the helm the team announced made that move official after it was reported in multiple places. The decision to move on from Dorsey comes just two days after the Brian Brown's fired head coach Freddie Kitchens at the conclusion of the regular season Dorsey had a meeting with. Jimmy has them the team owner earlier. Tuesday the two sides according to Tom Palacio We're talking about possible. Structural changes that would curb Dorsey authorities GM but when the two sides can come to an agreement it was over mark Feels like Cleveland. Even though the better roster is back to square one in terms of dysfunction and just in general question marks about the present and the future and I can't and even begin to understand how you must feel the frustration of well. I'm of two minds because the first is they're just more proof that the browns the constant mode is sort of developing farce. I mean whatever whenever you think that they've turned a corner. They're actually just going in a circle back to where they were before for. And there are a lot of disturbing reports and whispers coming out of Cleveland that the ownership and we know this is not not shocking. Can you think about it. But the but they continue to be very impatient with all their decisions and the people they hire and so the question now and I think that the I've never seen the fan base this deflated because of where they were a year ago at this time. Or let's say seven months ago to now but because it just doesn't seem to matter to most people who they hire and it's too it's too de energizing using to get excited about fill in the blank coach and the from the other side though I will say this had they kept John Dorsey. It would've narrowed the candidate list of who was gonNA come and work with that next team by a lot so I think if you're going to keep doing this but do you agree with that. Dorsey wasn't the guy to be leading the charge. Because everyone seems it to be an agreement that he was a guy that came in the obviously inherited. Sasha's bountiful gifts and had some hits has mrs but had some big hits to me it all feels a little premature to take him out of the equation but this organization has done. There wasn't a straight firing right. They just say couldn't get different visions on how they saw the football operation going full hundred percent. I think they wanted to keep them and they talked about how much they liked him. But John Dorsey is probably very prideful and not going to take what is it what is when you're changing title it also demotion what else is it and the thing is he he. It's hit. It was his decision number one to go with Freddie Kitchens and they they ignored Paul does recommendations of Kevin Stefanski DEEPA. Desta also wanted. Sean McDermott in the past. So I think what they were saying. Was We kind of trust. Paul Podesta's voice in in this at this time around and that's not something that again. It's kitchens fall. It's a soup of Dursey for hiring kitchens more recently. Stunning fall though we were at the owners meetings and at that point John Dorsey was the toast of the NFL. I read them in the top five of my GM rankings. no-one no-one said Oh that's that's too high. I mean like it was very recent who is five. Oh who's right behind him. Thomas demetre was five. Kevin Colbert over three but It is amazing how much talent he acquired in a short time and he's gone but I think they've gotten it wrong so many times of not having the GM and the coach align that act. I do like I like I think that needs to be on the same page. Yes at every time. So I'm fine with it. It's deflating to the point of heartbreak for for Browns fans that last year at this time this job was seen as one of the most coveted in the league with a young talented nucleus. And you're finally going to bring the winter to Cleveland and now it's senior reading reading stories that executives say that's the one place I would not go and you're right back to where you were if some of these coaching tree scenarios were cal Shanahan and has a number of people interviewing with the browns. He was there he's he. He demanded his way out of the building. You got you know the bill. BELICHICK's of the world are going to be telling these guys be careful because yes. It's great for you to go on and get a head coaching job. But the DNA here is that you won't be there. Four hundred as has made it clear in his press conference Thursday that the coach would be part of hiring the GM which sounds weird. But I know that's fine but it means that the coaches ultimately the GM's boss Asif you get hyper and that's fine as long as it's defined ahead of time if that helps them get mcdaniels fancier whoever it is that they want in the door. That's fine it it just makes makes it clear that it's the coach. That's in charge and function and dysfunction always starts at the top and sports and since the has them's joined there on their fifth took over team. They're on their fifth coaching search and seven years and John Dorsey is the fifth different person or group heading up the football operation in that same seven seven year that has to be unprecedented. I mean there are at least just third that work in at least the third that only had one year really which is why

Are Freddie Kitchens and Baker Mayfield Holding Back the Cleveland Browns?

"GonNa go right to the fourth quarter quarter with the browns so they're down for points and Baker Mayfield and the browns run a draw play on fourth and nine and not surprisingly they came up short short then late in the fourth Cleveland at another opportunity with the first and goal from the four yard line the browns called four straight past plays with the last one resulting in an interception from Baker. That is the game for the rams after the game coach Freddie Kitchen said he regretted the play calling late in the game but Baker said it was more than that take a listen. If you're looking blame somebody blame me. Don't blame me of our players. Don't blame any of our other coaches. Just blame me because I can take it all right. So you know just blindly go go rach article and say I must have game up. Go article and say smile faulted. Things not looking like it did last year because it is. I know what you guys are. GonNa try and do is talk about the playcalling they call him but I said executions the most important thing you know whatever whenever we have called we gotta do our job all right Shannon how much blame that does Freddie Kitchens deserve here. There's a lot of the blame because give the office coordinated the coach and he's the play caller. I Guess Bakersfield Dangerous yesterday. Did you wake feeling dangerous. Gear Alexa dangerous lately. He needs to feel the need to wake up feeling danger. Tennessee woke up feeling real dangerous and that they did. Did you know what skipped look. Freddie is learning that that's to wear two hats in the NFL gets a really hard job. That's why a lot of a lot of guys. Just give that up they either just keep the headset on so they can hear everything or they call you like Andy. Reid is very unique cow Shanahan and guys like that a very unique skipped dream to be able to call the plays and be a head cold but Freddie the the thing that's hurting frady is expectations afraid of the head coach last year if they didn't have these expectations but because of the way they played the close out the season yeah and now they add dale they will add alleviate Vernon they they get they get agreement. We've the draft you like who the brow and you see the subtractions in Pittsburgh. Maybe is no longer there. ABC's no longer there yeah yeah and then what week two bengals out so now that really ratcheted up taste so now everybody expecting the browns to be really really good look doc. That's why I say each year in of itself because last year has no bearing on this year and I think the browns players and and fans are starting to realize that Freddie is starting to realize the expectation that comes along with expectations. I'm the head coach because he didn't have a whole lot of experience calling rolling blades. He's never been a head coach so now he's the head coach which means he's the CEO of the operation but by the same token. He's got a call all the plays now. I don't know what the hell call now. If I didn't no but elsewhere Freddie Buffalo Wild Wings Buffalo Wild Wings coat the fourth and now you can't what the hell is that draw draw play on Yahoo. They were GONNA try to fool Agassi's pass. It got eight yards do remedy it was he ended up seven yards short. I was wondering if I was missing something watching. I'm like wait. Am I getting the goal. You got shows. You got nick. You don't give you one. Kerry now was a live. Let's put back and let's run. It is so you go so you got nick who you save or. I'M GONNA keep everybody happy. I'M GONNA get down. Here's Kevin Jarvis if Catcher Chila. It'll be thirty okay. You give make sure one crack please. okay okay scared. We're told you you keep trying to keep everybody happy to win. Games in everybody's going to be saying 'cause everybody because everybody's GonNa be safe because they nobody's gonna be getting their catches and you'll be losing games and you're going to be in a lose lose situation wages and you're going to be a part of their now that Jimmy and de Havilland. They look like hold on Okay John Dorsey now. We gave you everything everything that you want it. You got a quarterback overall. You got all these weapons. Jarvis Landry got a you got Joel hurt him but here's the things when you you made that trade y'all trash because you got the ninety nine deflategate boy human too. We're talking about the guy who had zero Saxon three the playoff games and it has zero sacks against the cowboys and the Guy who took the Cleveland browns cannot protect Baker Mayfield. They haven't for free games and the Rams took full advantage of that last night. What did I say Friday. Baker Mayfield is about to be in the wrong place at the wrong time against Wade Phillips defense offense that Cap Tom Brady and check for almost the entire super bowl. Am I right about you. Skip in another thing before I let you go. They traded their bust of Islam lobby. Get Out I'll be at the end of the day. You can have all the shiny pieces. You won't skill all these cashier that look nice. You better have a guard or to guard the money now. The money right now is six Baker Mayfield. You got a bunch of predate cashiers. You Got Jarvis and he got dale. You've got all that stuff. I did pillows but nobody protecting the money in his sketches for fifty six yards really the impact the game. Do you remember any of Nope. NOPE nope nope no so given that that was Wade Phillips Defense and right now. I think that defense is even a little better than then. Bill checks defense. That's how good it is because it has more star power to it because to leave did a number on Odell last night. I don't care what you say. You know. They'll get loose down on the field one time he had a nineteen yard catch. It didn't do much okay now back to Freddie Kitchens. I'm not sure he's going to last a whole year. I'm just not sure because bag years kept finding coach in the middle of the how I think it's it's just getting a little darker and darker in Cleveland because remember they have to go go to Baltimore next Sunday Baltimore better than everybody thought in there I think five point underdog there are five and a half actually five and a half point underdog so that the game you better believe believe it or the forty niners three and Oh yes they beffa movie bouquet. The next game is a Monday night game in Santa Clara against against the forty nine. It's Elizabeth game and then the seahawks visit. Seok student looked great yesterday but they did go to Pittsburgh while Rothlisberger played the first half right. They're capable of beating the browns right now because the browns aren't very good right now what if they lose those games and fall to one in six what's Jimmy Haslem going to do with the expectations -tations through the roof of them. He already got one coach. That's still on the pay. Roll can still play a huge. I I know you have another guy on the payroll. Just bring somebody else hears Freddie's problem after the game. He's adopted this new. Oh poor pitiful pitiful me philosophy where he just says you. I'll take it all you know. Get the lay it on me. Don't blame the players blame. Oh Freddie doesn't really look like a football coach. Does he looks more like an offensive line coach so he he doesn't look like the head coach doesn't look like he's in charge and after the Games he's kind of admitting yes screwed that one up and I screwed that go ahead just say well. If you invite the media to run through that door trust me they're going to run through it and trample on you because he is now the easiest target in the national football league. You WANNA blame Baker. Can you not really do you want to blame Odell. No not really how Jarvis no hell out him yes. Yes you know who I want to be right now. I build Danny Jones. That'd be real petty. Okay believe anything you say I'm just saying I can't believe that guy number one he could do that. I don't think he's built. He's built wake ain't skill but you know what I think. Cleveland's defense is really good remember that they had four subs playing in the defensive backfield last night. All four starters were out in hung in and did that I mean I guess why they did it to me. Jared Goff's overrated scale. He's overweight did everything he could. CLEVELAND WON'T DARWIN THIS GAME. How many times do you go on the road and turn it over three times and win the football game you tell me it was three to one and turnovers with l. A. Three to Braley won the Dow many times. Do you get away with them. That's the recipe you want. The best recipe the loser role game yeah. Turn it over thank you. They did that and they still won. One hundred ten million guaranteed right Jared Goff my money yup lots of money so back to quarterback. I love Baker Mayfield old. I'm sorry I got to tell the truth is having a hard time. He's starting to lose a little bit of nerve because he Bolton Fast Komo News. I gotta get out of here. I gotTA get out here. He needed to stand in especially on the goal line and just make one of those rows without looking over his shoulder. It's the Ford downplay. He bolts pockets so fast. I know the play hard off the right. I think yeah I think that's probably a dollar and that was that was ended up being a clay that end up being getting away with the thing is is that sometimes these quarterbacks they look in the bubble instead of stepping up. They look into get outside up that skill once you get outside. Guess what you're doing you telling the defense. Basically I got from the Hash to the side attitude rolling to the every once in a while. We'll talk about Lamar Jackson. You'll get away with a bail out with Obama did you. Did you know you don't make that. You'll go broke doing that. I would agree but Baker. Hey sometimes you gotta you gotTa Take

Becoming a Commercial Pilot Will Change Your Aviation Life

"GONNA be getting into a really cool subject today that I'm passionate about because I went through it myself. I feel like it's going to be very useful for you. At least those of you that are looking to fly for a living in those of you who want aviation as part of your life through the rest of your life right those who strive to fly every day so have you always wanted to learn. The fly always wanted it as a career career that you never quite found the time. You never quite found them money or maybe family life got in the way that's a really common one the family life and maybe have you still feel like you have the opportunity to do it but you don't necessarily know where to start. Now the mix of all these things it's it's a little bit scary. Maybe for you to feel this way that you know. Is it really gonNA work out too. Late is too much. Lots of different question marks. If this is going to be something that's worth it now. All Aviation isn't one of those things cheap to go in and screw up. It's not like you can go in on a semester of college like you can't aviation nation is just so so so expensive. I guess it depends on the college. You're going to but you don't want to become a commercial pilot only to then waste education. So is it going to be worth it. Is it going to be fun. Is it going to be a career that you enjoy. That's GonNa be something that we talk about. Throughout this podcast with the idea of what is it like. Where do you end up. Is it worth it that sort of thing all right so I think a lot of you. You have this story. That's kind of in the making our I you're. You're ready to be an aviation movie. Someone that you know trust through the mud and went through so much to get to where you're going and really anyone that has made it in aviation has their own amazing story of the hard work. It took to get to where they are so. I want to share a little bit about my journey but keep in mind that you are ready to write your own story about aviation. I hope that you choose to to do that. If you're on the fence about taking this leap of faith in doing this so through this you're gonNA see some of the challenges that I faced what my life is like now and maybe that Sunday the you look forward to and and maybe have a different idea of course on how that's going to A. B. Shaped for you because my life is not going to be your life. You want things differently. that's just the way it is but how getting to that point of becoming a commercial pilot doing this for a living commercial pilot means just the ability to take money for flying so you don't we're not tiny airline pilots here but how getting to that point will forever change the trajectory of your life so that's what I want to bring you through from my story and hopefully relating it to your story okay so let's go there so really quick. I WanNa go through my journey as a pilot is pretty be fun to reflect back on this but I think it's really illustrative of a lot of the things that everyday people go through so it wasn't exactly easy for me. I I didn't just do it all at once. When I was a teenager it wasn't paid for for me. Some of it was in the very beginning within it became very difficult later so feel like this is very relatable for a lot of you that have those challenges of time money and family because I felt like I went through every single one of them okay so I did catch the bug for aviation very early on I started in high school with the thought that I would become a professional pilot had the dream of becoming an airline pilot and it didn't end up going to college to become a pilot now. I only spent two semesters in college started. When I was eighteen. I got my private pilot licence at eighteen I I went to what's called a part one forty one college which is the training is very regimented and structured and and spent an okay amount of money. It was actually fairly affordable because it was a state college and really enjoyed. The process actually really liked my training there. However after that I went through several well years of of no further training other than just the remedial stuff from one airplane to the next ended up flying quite a bit in an airplane that my dad had purchased and at about five hundred hours I ended up getting my instrument rating at the age of twenty three so about five years later sure I got my instrument rating at the age twenty three whole lot of time in between a lot of cross country time a lot of great experiences that taught me a lot about aviation and I was fortunate not enough in that timeframe to to get a lot of flying for free because my my dad was paying for it so that's the place place where I come from. A bit of privilege is kind of how I started out. My private pilot wasn't that way I paid for a lot of my own private pilot licence but then some of my our building toward Lord my instrument rating was all paid for and I'm. I'm really really grateful for that. So I know what it feels like to know what it feels like kid to get that gift of having someone help you all right however just several years after that. I moved to Alaska and I was twenty five five of the time when I moved here and then a lot of things got in the way I ended up getting out of aviation for about five years life money I went through a divorce. I went through the process of healing from divorce. Now is a whole different story for another time over drinks if we ever meet up but not really something I focus on. I was just kind of rewriting my life here in Alaska and I think I think that's something that many people go through at some point is they may be disconnect from who they were as a child in the eventually becoming adult and I feel like when I came to Alaska I was emancipated. I didn't have any family here. I grew my life kind of on my own here ended up of course meeting so many great people and great friends that helped me along on the way so I started connecting with that new community. I ended up getting married to my wonderful wife Chelsea. She is my world. We started a family together. Are we grew our relationship together now my focus for quite a long time and I continued to grow my business. So Angle of attack is actually thirteen years old. I've been in in the business of training people for that. Timeframe started out in simulator. Training is some business to business with the famous or a well known aircraft manufacture that I don't WanNa name didn't have a good time doing that. It was it was soul crushing crushing that corporate life and so even though I was kind of moving back in the Va Shin in a more serious way at the time and doing these high dollar projects it taught me so much about what I didn't WanNa do aviation and I was looking forward to the fact that I had a family and I really needed a business that needed to grow oh and how some prospects there so. I thought that the business the business thing high-dollar thing would work but it wasn't for me. Never GonNa do it again and and decided that I needed to do something else and so I'm very grateful for that bad experience because it taught me what I really kind of knew all along but I was avoiding and then that was that I love to teach and I needed to become legitimate in my ability to teach which meant that I needed to get Mike commercial reading and I needed to get my flight instructor rating sure I had I had had years and years of experience doing my business and training meaning people and doing these training products but I wasn't actually a flight instructor. Even though I had a lot of flight time and I really wanted to do that so interestingly enough I decided that on the tail end of that project that I had such a horrible time in that I was going to do this that this was the way ahead. This was what I was passionate about. This is going to be my calling in aviation. That's where I'm at today and I absolutely believe it and I can't see an end end to that calling of wanting to teach people and make a difference that way I talked about that in the last podcast the one about where I've been what's ahead so long story short short continuing and finishing off kind of where I'm at now is I decided to get back into my training to get that commercial and see if I'd done at the worst possible time I started my commercial training right after my first baby was born and and then left home to focus on that when he was four months on sold so I literally left Alaska went down the California started that commercial training and it was it was gut wrenching to have to do that now. I just knew that I how do I had to do right like if I didn't do it right that second. I knew the writing on the wall. 'cause I'd been doing this. PODCAST already had been mentoring people people in aviation already and I knew that I would not be able to progress forward if more things in my family life and my career started to fall in a place that would be roadblocks prevent me from moving forward so even though I'm really blessed to have a family. I knew that like right away is only going to get busier. There's only gonNA GONNA get crazier. I also knew that as I switched the focus of my business is only to get harder and and money was gonna get tight eventually so I really wanted to start allocating funds to my own professional development and I knew that there is no better time than now and I I think in my story that there's anything you pull from is is it that is that is the key figure is that there's no better time than right. Now is never gonNA be easier than it is right. Now you know with a little bit of wiggle room to be smart about about when you start and how you start in aviation but you just gotTa do it and and I realized that kind of had this this moment that if oh I didn't do it now is probably never going to happen. I knew I was getting older. I was arrested pilot and I just had to go in and do it now because it had I've been at that time five or six years since I'd done a cheque right of any kind in any serious pushing aviation training I I struggled so hard in my commercial training. It was tough. I was very rusty. The knowledge that I thought I knew was very much is gone and I had to repeat a lot of that stuff that had just left my brain from being this spry early twenties guy to someone that was slowing down a little bit into my into my thirties and I know that sounds silly but just recognizing that those cognitive things do change. I struggled really bad and I actually documented this pretty well with a youtube series I did I think I ended up doing three or four videos on my commercial training and so you guys conceive visually what happened there it was a complete disaster but it taught me so much that the I needed to push through and I really wanted this dream in no matter what what is going to make it happen you know money was becoming an issue timeless becoming an issue whether it was an issue the entire time literally the DP DP he is someone who does the check rides who kinda passes you off from the FAA literally the DP got hospitalized and I had to reschedule my check ride like everything wrong that could have gone wrong happened to me and unlike before where it had someone helping me out say with my instrument training. This was all on my own like this is my own money any my own business my own family and and that was it now. I say that tongue in cheek because there were so many people that were good to me and helped me gave me free flight time and and friends of mine so I can't say that I did it completely alone but you know I think those things are are more common than not. What if you build a community around you in you in you. You do your part to make that community better. There's some reciprocity there so I had earned that reciprocity the city in a way from from some of those people still feel like I'm paying that back today but long story short it was a very brutal process to get through commercial license and then I immediately wanted to go into my flight instructor training now I did my commercial training in such a way worked with a CFI his name's Michael Michael that knew that was my eventual goal and so really a lot of how he was turning me through the process during my commercial was already getting me ready to do the FAI and so when I went into my cfi several months later it was it was a fantastic process. I had a great time. I'm doing it. I had the help of many great people through that process different. CFI's than Michael namely trace Clinton Dave her wig and the big one John Dorsey who helped me so much and it was just it was a smooth process and the CF. I check right for me okay because I had already been an educator because I'd prepared so well. I buckled down so much at the end here and and really just changed my mind about where I was

Hour 2: Mel Kiper Jr's NFL draft predictions

"Mel kiper junior into the show. What's up melt? Hey, guys, how you doing? Good. All right. So number one overall. Mel you have Nick Bosa going to the cardinals. You've heard the things cliff Kingsbury has said about collar Murray, he's a big fan. But he's also said Josh Rosen is our guy. So how confident are you about the cardinals going Bosa at one do guys with a mock draft you call around and you get different opinions. You try to build some type of a consensus. Steve drafted Josh Rosen. I thought he held his own for getting no help you seems like the players in that locker ROY believe in him you move forward. Josh Rosen would have a higher grade than any quarterback in this draft. If you go basically apple apple, and you try to reject a year with a year experience where they would be. But I think they're happier with Josh Rosen than they would have been a quarterback including Tyler Perry. Tyler Murray is still five nine five ten and size body type or still some things at the combine and pro day, and he's going to have to answer to give up on Josh Rosen and go that direction. I don't see it happening based on the people have spoken to. So I went with both. Over Josh Allen. That's going to be the debate the trait outta there. Do you tape boasts Allen right now, it seems like Bosa may be the lead who knows internally with their thinking. But trading out of there for team. Let's go out and get Askins. Maybe something maybe interested in listening to Mel. I'm very surprised by that draft. Order Nick Bosa is the is the foolproof, right? He's going to be a stud, but people felt that way about Nick last year. Sorry, Bradley Chubb last year, he's the best Pash rusher by so much you might as well, get them. There question marks about everyone including including. Cleveland Browns quarterback acre Mayfield, including Gregor Mayfield. Sam darnold everyone. So they're going to go, Bradley choke with not only didn't go Bradley Chubb. They went to the talented quarterback, you know, out of the big twelve who they had questions about right? Isn't that Keiler Murray this year, and isn't Nick Bosa basically, Bradley up? Well, Trump had a great year and shove ended up going to a team that utilize him and put him out there with Miller and he's a tremendous player. Tremendous young man, he's going to have a huge future and the ratio that I think when taken the war, Denzel word overcharged was what Cleveland was kind of debating there. Do you take the corner the pass rusher and put him opposite Garrett? They thought Ogbeh would come on. He didn't. But that was a decision obeyed word played well till he got hurt. I think we look at at Murray Murray is different in that he's five nine and a half. He's not six foot and a half to twenty like Baker Mayfield was and is I think that body type when you think about we've never seen before we've seen Baker Mayfield types. Okay. Before we haven't seen Cuyler Murray fight go this SARS, no conflict Kyle Murray. Guys. There's none. So I think we've talked. The number one pick four pick even a first round pick for that matter. I've at thirteen to Miami you've never seen this ever happened before. So I think some answers may become at the combine when you see him as he looked like he can hold up. It looks those guys in the eye. Does he looked like an NFL quarterback putting on a board? You know, it's football IQ should be really good the hand size people. Always look at that nine is that is that there you can do it or you can't will see hand size with collar Murray comes in at so still some things that'd be determined the answers. I got back from that question. This week is was leave Cuyler Murray at thirteen don't move him up that seems to be fair for right now in the process is that you say that Mel just this morning. We learned we got some news. Peter King was speak into Lincoln Riley, the coach at OU, and he said that ninety one percent of the past column Murray through from the pocket while at OU last season ninety one percent of this passes were from floor from Nepal. So when you look at him in comparison to Dwayne has its handicap that us was break that down. What makes? What one quarterback better than the other for the next level in light of that ninety one percent there column, right? That's a great point. Because I think you look at how do you compare? I don't remember one man's L came out. I said he's a wild card even out liar. I don't know what he's going to be Baker Mayfield. Last year was the wildcard big three. We knew it was Josh Allen Sam darnold. Josh Rosen maker Mayfield was the wild card this year the wild card again is Kyle Murray. So you compare him to Haskins asan's as a traditional guy. Everybody knows what you're getting there. Even though he was one year as a starter. We don't know we're hoping I think if you draft him say at thirteen or wherever in the first round, you hope that today's NFL okay with the shotgun so deep getting that shotgun snap not under center, basically in space Todd mcshane's but talking about the statute great set more passes batted down for six foot and over quarterback than six foot and under quarterbacks like Cuyler Murray. So today's NFL makes this happen. It's kind of the perfect storm for him coming out at the right time and the right situation. So there's going to be able to protect his body. He can slide. We know that we know how lightning quickie. Yes. That is in the back. Of his Eddie senses things that nobody else. Can't you mentioned the pocket of build? That's underrated part. He will sit in that pocket. He will wait he'll go through progressions. And he's tremendously accurate. His completion percentage. Was right. Where Mayfield was and he accounted for more touchdowns this season. The Baker Mayfield did during his great year two seasons ago. So I said three months ago collar Murray six foot tall five eleven. It's no discussion. He's the number one pick. But at five nine and a half, it makes it interesting. So let's go to the other quarterback that people are talking about many projected to the giants including you at sixth Wayne Haskins. You said something interesting to me earlier, you said that that Sam darnold. Did you say Sam darnold would've sorry? Josh Rosen would've graded out as the best quarterback in this draft to me Dwayne Haskins looks like a better prospect than Josh Rosen or even probably Sam darnold does not as mobile as Sam darnold. How what do you think of where does Haskins rate and all this? Why wouldn't you give him a great underwear? Josh Rosen was less. Year. Well, they were better quarterbacks coming out. I think that those guys were elite we had talked to years ago about those guys even before they were in the draft that they would have come out earlier. They would have been highly. They were they were considered special. And they said back in August prior to those kids coming out last year that in August that it wouldn't set up well for those and they were Josh Allen, Los everything around them. Sam darnold loss a lot around him. And Josh Rosen was that UCLA where they didn't have a ton of talent. So it wasn't set up for those guys to live up to all the hype in terms of the numbers and the way they were expected to take over and dominate gains and be spectacular. So people were kind of wondering over radium. No, you weren't there. Great quarterbacks. And I thought the people in the league is that these guys this year be thankful if you're those teams you got those quarterbacks they're better and every team in the first round from Lamar Jackson won the Baker and everybody in between those guys are thrilled to have. And they don't have to worry about this Dwayne Haskins a one year starter. That's it. And he had a little trouble struggles rowing the Penn State game. But I like the fact he got better. He learned a seems like he's going to be all in to be a quarterback. He loves the challenge and the pressure that comes from being a quarterback. But so criticism of him to say those guys better those guys were considered super elite and special entities for a two year period. So that's not a critique Dwayne Haskins or or taking a shot. Joe Dwayne Haskins on that's a fair thing to say those three. And then you throw Baker Mayfield John Dorsey number one. Look what happened. He emailed that pick. They can own that division for the next ten years because of this draft and because of getting Baker Mayfield Bubills love Josh ninety five and five they weren't a games. He started to finish. You can Nate Sam darnold. Look what he did in the last month of the season. Look around more Jackson games. He wants those teams guys are thrilled that they know they got the right quarterback for a long long time. And hopefully for Baltimore. Lamar Jackson the passing has improved. But from from winning, and the attitude they're all in on the March access by those teams are really happy where they are right now quarterback

Browns fire coach Hue Jackson ahead of trade deadline

"General manager with their old. Hey, coach, hue Jackson. It was destined to fail. And it did finally on Monday when the Browns released Hugh Jackson with time left on his contract this season and next season. So the Browns will be paying him through two thousand nineteen but it will give John Dorsey and Alonzo Highsmith and Elliott Wolff in the Browns for an office the chance to go hire their own head coach, they are I in the pool this year. They get the start looking for an interviewing coaching candidates right now, if they want to go talk to Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma taking go do that. If they want to go talk to any other college coach, they can go do that. They don't have to hide behind anything right now. The Browns are the first out for a coaching search. And then of course, they make the change in offense coordinator firing Todd Haley and bringing in Freddie kitchens who doesn't have extensive experience running an NFL offense. So it'll be interesting to see how kitchens calls play. Days starting Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. And so the Cleveland Browns the first team to overhaul their coaching staff, but the real changes came Tuesday with a flurry of moves that made this one of the busiest trade deadline days in NFL history. Last year was very busy. Because at the last moment in the twenty four hours leading up to the deadline. We saw Jimmy Garoppolo traded from New England to San Francisco j Gye traded from Miami to Philadelphia Dwayne Brown from Houston to Seattle. Marcel Darius from buffalo to Jacksonville and Kelvin Benjamin going from Carolina to buffalo end the almost trade of AJ McCarron from Cincinnati to Cleveland, the got foiled when the Browns could not get the deal done in time by the four o'clock deadline by the four o'clock deadline this year. There was no such thing. Holding back a flurry of moves. We saw de. Ver- trade Pro Bowl wide receiver. Damaris Thomas and a seventh round pick to the Houston. Texans for a fourth and seventh round pick. As will the interesting part of that trade is that Thomas is first game with the Texans will come Sunday in Denver against the Broncos team. That just traded him. Thomas was the longest tenure Bronco and get the Broncos say goodbye to him because really they weren't going to keep his fourteen million dollars salary around next season in my mind. The most surprising move right before the deadline. Came win Detroit traded golden Tate to Philadelphia for a third round pick. So many teams had made so many inquiries to the lions about golden Tate. But they had resisted all overtures for him. But finally, they broke down and dealt Tate to the eagles who for the second straight year made a trade right at the deadline last year Gye this year Tate, as they look to try to keep up with the rest of the NFC east another team in the NFC making.

Cleveland Browns expected to sign running back Carlos Hyde

"The start of the league year today at four o'clock eastern a lot of these deals are already in place and it looks like we have another update here adam schefter tweeting out that runs carlos hyde is going to sign with the cleveland browns was that first reported somewhere else want to make sure i get that correctly okay i rewarded by nfl media now adam schefter also following up with that that carlo side who by the way grew up in cincinnati played at ohio state so that makes a lot of sense the forty niners took him in the second round in two thousand fourteen last year was the first time carlos played in all sixteen games is gone over eleven hundred yards from scrimmage back to back years so what do we make what the cleveland browns are doing they have made a lot of moves they still have the first and fourth overall pick in the draft listen gm john dorsey said we need to go out and get real players i mean that got some people upset with how he was dealing with former regimes yup but when you look at the things that the browns have done they have gone out and signed a lot of air quote real players here no they have and they've done a good job of using the assets that chassis brown and paul do podesta left behind and and it's a smart use of cap space and draft picks recognizing that you have to have a veteran quarterback somebody that could step in and play now and contribute to your team winning and so you go out and you trade the sixty fifth overall pick for tire rod taylor you make the deal you bring over jarvis landry i liked the fact that you're making a focus of rebuilding that team around veteran players that can contribute immediately and then hopefully those guys can bring something to the culture because for cleveland browns there was a lot of young guys on that roster i mean they have a lot of young talent but they don't have any veteran leadership and so that's one of the things that concerns you with such a young team they don't know how to win so bringing in players from other teams that have had success tyrod taylor playoffcaliber quarterback that should help this team progress and.
