Yeah, sure. I know that world hotels were my world before radio came a Colin. All right, Brooke and Michelle. Jacob is going to pick one of the remaining categories. If Brooke wins this round, she's our big winner for the week. And if Michelle wins she'll take on the next ship. This is the first time we've been out of the second round. Even I find myself in uncharted territory and terrified yet so enthralled would be to John. What categories will Jake could be choosing from? All right. We've got 19 eighties hits. Top hits of 2012 Classic rock or 1992, Billboard top 100. Um, I'll go with the classic. It's the 2012. Circuits of tooth. I don't think that was an option, but I think you met 2011. Yeah, Okay. Sounds like a deal with the 2011 that Z. That's what you meant to say. From what? John wasn't 20,011 instead, you set yourself 12. So he screwed up like that, Jacob. I apologize. I apologize, sir. From withdrawing its okay from a John. We all be with. Yeah, we did certain about you, but he's a lady's man. All right, Brooke. In 30 seconds. He's going to get six or more for sure we do you need well, I guess sex, she says 66 or more. All right. Thank you. Please hold for me. Michelle, please hold for me. Brooke Shoutouts Lake Mag. Jacob the category just so we're all the same page 2011 just like I said. Yep. 20 Levin said the first What exactly said was the category is the year before 2012. That's what top hits of the year before. 2012. That's 2011. Yeah, People say different ways. No question. Some people say neither some people say neither. You know what I mean. Potato Pataki, nucular Sherbert nucular Sherbert. All right, Jacob. You know the category, right? You know, there are 30 seconds on the clock. We will see if Brooke will be moving on to the next round or If the challenger Michelle will unseat and dethrone, if not deflower her. Do we have a plan? If this just keeps going like if there is never a winner are we prepared to take this game to six o'clock? Is this the Wednesday before Thanksgiving? OK, good. That's exactly where my head was. I just wanted to make sure that you were on the same page on. All we've promised people is that we will be live not say we will be live with bringing compelling content. "Of thirty films that he would do. Twenty five of them were designed to make money and very commercial, but he would have seven or eight. Slots of his sleigh cheer and you just give them to filmmakers and. was the best friend filmmaker ever had so he he gave a gave me. Anita. Do Grosse Point. Blank high. Fidelity gave Wes Anderson the money to do rushmore us. I've got to make summer of Sam your these were all kind of men rain studio movies big budget so I felt very lucky to be. Working now. And that's sixty seventies era. A studio filmmaking was still still a little bit there So I remembered just having an incredible amount of support from. From them from. Kathy Nelson The music supervisor because. The requests for music and that were. Herculean. was able to make all those deals and get all all the best music we wanted was. Really. Amazing. And Being A. Lovely time I'm GonNa make another assessment that you can did disagree with, which is that if you look over course of your career characters that have the vast potential to be unlikable on paper are made likeable and interesting by your performance is that a thread that you see through some of your characters? I would think probably. In that you know. You just want to make the characters. As human as you can and then And I think maybe connected to a different era filmmaking where ambiguity is virtue rather than something to be run from all costs. So You. Know you look at some of the films that you really love. You know even a was watching Carol. Reed's the third man and everybody in the movie comes into the narrative exhausted feeling it failed it everything. Existential suicidal. They know everything. They know all their faults. They know everything that the fail there's just that sort of. You know characters admit that they're deeply human flaw right and that's sort of the opposite of branded. Movie Star performances and stuff. So I, think I was always very interested in ambiguity and and the fact that somebody would. Say is this character kind of. Is a likable as not likeable. It's more like is it is not true like somebody tells a joke. And it may be a a truth that you really don't want to deal with but you laugh because it's it's true or it hurts or at winces. Think. There's sort of an instinct just to run into that kind of trouble cinematic. Drama has to do with problems. As super-sleek with way it's like you know it's man versus himself whatever it is whatever the females but. You know you're always gonNA be doing a story about a man with the problem. With problem it's interesting. Even they're here you talk about Hollywood for someone who's been as successful as you've been and who's got the name that you have has been all these great movies that you have I don't know if contempt is the right word but in some ways, just for the Hollywood system of be a Big Star do the big movie do all the marketing, all the things that comic it you strike me as somebody who just wants to do a good job in the performance and not deal with everything else that comes with it is that fair to say yeah, hopefully I'm not contemptuous because You know. I'm very fortunate and that's the truth I'm one of luckiest person people you'll meet so. Tempting of, but I do think the idea of ambiguity and.

"This one for you today. Some of my favorite interviews are the ones we do with people who don't do a lot of interviews Al Pacino jumps to mind earlier this year. John Cusak is my guest this week he doesn't do a ton of press. He certified an elusive star even though he's this movie icon and so connected to the great movies of the nineteen eighties. But then also moving forward, he sort of always been they're doing good stuff whether it's Grosse Pointe Blank or High Fidelity or being John Malkovich. He just keeps pushing forward he's done like seventy some eighty movies over the course of his career which he started you'll hear him talk. About. As a teenager growing up in Evanston Illinois just outside Chicago he said all of a sudden they started making movies about teenagers in. CHICAGO. And I was there I was a teenager in Chicago which led to movies like sixteen candles, and then of course, better off dead and a little bit later say anything with that famous boombox and he said such an interesting career and his latest project is on TV hasn't done a lot of that over his career for all he's done. It's called Utopia. It's on Amazon prime and the premise is basically it comes out of a cult favourite British series about a group of young people obsessing over comic book. That's about biological warfares about a pandemic. It's about people getting caught up in conspiracy theories. I mean, obviously, they conceived of shot this long before the coronavirus pandemic but it's amazing when you sit and watch it touches on all the things that we're seeing play out. So Jon I get into all of that. He's also as many of you know very active on social media talking about politics supporter of Bernie Sanders for many years So we talk about the state of the country a little bit the state of what he thinks needs to happen if Democrats win the election in the fall, what they need to do to to sort of adopt many of the progressive policies that he's been talking about for a long time. So we got a lot to get into. He's home just to paint the visual for you. I'm home he's home he's sitting in his living room i. think it is just got a laptop open like you all are doing these days on zoom the two of US talking about his long career. Yes. We talk about the boombox seen. Yes we talk about working with his amazing sister. Joan Cusak. And then we talk about this incredible show Utopia and all the eerie similarities with what's going on right now..

"We're doing predicted a kind of tuned out. Because I'm like it's going to go through the whole thing. Got Him Practice. Great so today. We're we're we don't have to do the characters but we need to make a couple takes stakes is going trump. I've already got money in the trump. Repeat because I didn't have Biden I had In the in the DEM's I had Bernie so I just have my residual trump mark pat. What are you guys going and I? It's tough I don't love these markets because I don't like markets that are seven months out but it's I would probably throw at this point Bernie dropping. I probably like four bucks on trump. So I'm trying to take my game to the next level a little bit riskier but I'm trying to do things like ride. Ride the train side up rod not exactly senses ride around. I'd buy Biden now today And ride him up because with corona and shit going on. I'm assuming going to get to like it's GonNa flip gets like fifty four fifty five. Maybe sell it if gets from forty six to fifty three and then Sixty event if there's no absolutely absolutely by Biden now and then flip flip before the first debate and end game Have IT ON TRUMP. That's pretty smart. I mean no matter what happens you can buy now and make money because if what happens in the last election happens everyone's no way trump's GONNA win. And then he wins or Evans quick. You need you need to sell your body and before the first debate. I mean coin flip. Time is great because it can go anywhere from here you know. So you're you're you're you're working with great odds on either candidate so that's one now guys one more market we'll talk about. Today is the vice president. Market we talk touching on a little bit earlier. Obama seemed to make a kind of like a hint that he prefers Liz Warren as the VP. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything right now on predicted. Kamala Harris is the favourite followed by Amy Klobuchar who has dropped significantly Followed by Gretchen. Whitmire the governor of Minnesota Sorry Michigan followed by Liz warn and then Stacey Abrams some people. I don't recognize Hillary and Michelle Obama. So I've got already got money on Elizabeth Warren and Michelle Obama Combo. What are you guys feeling here comma? Here's the took quite a lead. She was you had. Liz Worn for a while but I feel cameras. Stuff is just pure conjecture like like I you know. I think that people are saying Oh. She's a strong potential leaders to. That's why she's leading right but I don't. I don't think she has any better chance than warn or Klobuchar or Or these new cats. I like worn. I think Obama does have a strong influence and I think that I think that you know would do it. You Fuck yes. She dropped out and didn't endorse endorsed. Burning like everything. She's done leads to that. The first phone call the I phone call. Biden might have been fucking it agreement for vice presidency. Marquis right up. It's the only chance Biden's win as it has a winning honestly not because she's the Warren. Now I mean what what I think. It's it's the party getting their way. Notice that Kamala Harris was the first Presumed pick by the party. And then Liz worn was the second act but the the big question of those people so for a leadership role. Warren is the only one on the list that's divisive potentially right but it is her base bigger than representativeness. I don't think that devices as she is stripped straight up like brass tacks if you WANNA get down to the benefits of Kamala Harris Biden's already got the black vote. Bonds already got California in a landslide. He doesn't need Kamala Harris. He needs younger people. He needs democratic socialist. It's much much. It's a much larger benefit for him to pick. Liz Worn with who he is then to pick them all his. I'm buying one hundred by one hundred shares or bucks worth of water. Good call. Yeah Yeah Yeah. It's only at ten cents was earlier today. Marc does this to me like when I when we go to the bar. He's like he's like well. You could not by me around or you could buy me around and you'd feel better in the morning because you know you're giving and you're like man. I'm just looking out for you and your thank drunk. I'm more fun you an outside pick on those now I'm GonNa stay out of it I don't think Elizabeth Warren I mean Elizabeth Warren's interesting because you know she was she was head to head with Bernie like like trump said. Maybe she screwed over Bernie. So maybe his his Bernie supporters might be a little more reluctant to come over on that side of things I don't know you know it's it's all up in the air. I mean he could just see could not even pick a woman at all and you know who knows it could go with fucking hillary extra. We're locking expert. No-one stinks you got to pick out. He's not an expert but his stakes. Now you know I. I don't think so unless while. Kamala Harris Sixty five cent. No I think is an interesting one of the basically taking the field could be worth your while anyways again. Go to predict it dot org slash promo slash hard factor. Twenty go to that you are L. No Promo Code extra needed to get your first twenty bucks match in Stock Market Politics. Any deposit of twenty dollars or more come on and plates fund. Nice all right. I know as long as we can't do the show. He made his bring it in like once. Talk a little markets. Yeah exactly a little longer than we normally do right. And then Kelly Cooksey says lockdown and turned way too far up. My husband's locked down and turn up. Shirt came today and he has been turned up ever since he's had the theme from the original Mortal Kombat playing super loud on repeat and he's been playing mortal Kombat on his leg all day. I hope he's playing the tax over from the movie. Yeah I think so. Yeah the only time. The only time she said to me are when he wants to show off that he still does the fatalities or he wants me to leave because the mere matches are serious business. I know he will listen to your show in the morning so please please please. Stephen turned down at least a little bit. Even don't do that you can. "And they all start like these little it's like a little band of seagulls, and they all start playing the instruments, and it's the best thing I've ever seen so cute. I don't remember. When it was do you? Remember waffles doesn't find it. Cute. Lightning finds it cute. It's fine. I liked the song great song. But it's so uncomfortable. How much the seagull is like the national bird of Quincy. So that's that's probably true. That is true. Sorry, sorry that we can all be west Newbury people Shattuck, well, apparently clear elitist bad elements bad elements, making your way through west Duberry lookout. Everybody's all you fats listening right now stay away from west Newbury. There's you being hunted. This came out in twenty twenty sorry to my my gosh, two thousand and twelve that makes sense tell her to say that proper. There's no way for that one. That one has to be said as she said two thousand and ten plus two what's wrong with I don't say plus to them that sounds like a d day. Plus, you Wendy, you got what are we going to get to the you can go back to get twenty Twenty-eight work in twenty twenty one right? Yeah. I think so two thousand and twenty plus one thousand twenty. Twenty twenty one two thousand twenty two thousand ten and two or something. You don't say ten and to correct it doesn't Tom Brady. Ten to Craxi you say day. Randy moss. It's okay. Well, it'll come back. It's coming back to us quickly Shattuck. I don't want to spend too much more time on this. But the Kelly financial district. Kelly financial pulls up one is on. What's the best brand of potato chip Cape Cod is still winning easily? It is the first choice. So there's whole regency bias ruffles is third is fourth right now. Which is outrageous because that's. Flavor ridges. No on the Boston allowing electric scooters. That's currently it's sixty seven percent. But then he's Lori Laughlin going to do jail time. Eighty three percent say no because it's unbelievable that she would be in jail because she was such a wholesome person. Or the perception Becky all that to you. It's on Becky to me there were some eighties movies where she was. Remember a couple of them. John cusack. About eighty four eighty five six million. I don't I don't want to go this way at all. She was in a meeting. What you were thinking in the eighties with Lori law. Is that what you're telling me, though, she was like your faira faucet? I'm telling you that you being my relatives seeming. I was never a big lorry Laughlin guy. She's gorgeous. What do you mean? It's not about being big Lori Loughlin guy. It's about never watched house in the eighties. I barely knew full house. This is about racy movies that she was in Maury Laughlin was movies young romantic comedy, kind of those are racy movie. Just believe me. Okay. Is to prove it Laughlin was in racy move look for Laughlin and John Cusack. Okay. Does John cusak. Do racy movies Gye? I don't like John Cusack. But he doesn't do racy movie racier than aunt Becky and the Siamese twins in that show. Okay. It's but like, Sharon Stone racy movies. I don't think Laurie Laughlin was doing that type. She didn't do that. Although I did see when I lived in LA briefly. I actually saw that movie for Sharon Stone did racy thing on the biggest screen in the United States at that time. It was somewhere near Beverly Beverly Hills shocking that point. With that size. You just don't see that a lot. Right. So I don't I all of this conversation is making me uncomfortable. Mugging for the days of lightning laughing at seagulls singing on the beach flock of seagulls. Now, I am not taking us into a bad place. Lori Laughlin was like your twenty-something crush, which is wasn't twenty-something younger. She's older than me. I think she's in two movies with John Cusack. In the eighties class nine hundred eighty three. And then the sure thing in one thousand nine hundred that's the one rent. The sure thing this year thing believe me people rent movies. We go to the blockbuster. Go to blockbuster rent that you need valid credit cards the last blockbuster or download flex. Influx. The look and feel of the plastic the holder. You texted me something during the break. Even though I'm sitting right here. Why did you during the break somebody? It's a screen shot of a tweet that somebody sent out. Did I let me see what I take this is important while in so far. But yeah, so there's this. This is great. There's this guy had re tweeted a news story about a kindergartner who made nine nine one one call after his dad drove through a red light. So this kid dimed amount. And then the purse happen here that happening Quincy or something. I wasn't in license. Yes. WSB? I remember talking about that may have been somewhere else but not happen here in Quincy. They made a hero out of that kid. Really? Yeah. I would. All right. All my son would not be a hero. But the Ortona is that that guy said I would never bribe college I said that kid into college or whatever. Said do this is one of the things I love about this story. Is that everybody's pure? Everybody knows how they would act in this situation. And everybody knows that they would be on the level because why we're never on the level with anything that we do. But we we want to be better than the people that live in Beverly Hills for one second. So we act like we would have been better than them here. There is a. We know that there's no truth to that. There's a lot of envy that way because that way class envy. There's no doubt about it. But you know, it's not true. You know, if this didn't happen. But he's the only guy I know that lives in Mel Gibson says your kid didn't get into KAI. I'd call this guy, and you're gonna I'm sorry mail. I'm sorry. But no, my kids either gonna earn it the right way. Or I'm not doing this. Really? You're not making. The call Felicity Huffman tells your wife your kid can get into Georgetown. All you gotta do is give them a couple of bucks, and you're going I will not my kids going to study harder, really know. Well, okay. First of all if I valued college in in. There. You would you got play by the player? It is. That's true. I mean, it doesn't see it seems there. They know their parenting is there never their first of all and they've hired millions of people to raise their kids for them. But the one way they sort of validate their parenting is that they can pretend that their kids are smart in the way, they do that is they pay people to two thou- before that and they've done it here. And now, we know they're doing it. But we always knew that. And that somehow validates to them that I'm a good parent because my kid went to Georgetown that wipes all of it clean for them. Yes. It does. But it's not a victimless. It's a little bit. I agree. It's not. But for them it is in for them. That's the mindset and what I am bemused. By is that we all act like we wouldn't get caught up in that though. Of course, we want right. We love this. Because we know we'll never what do you do day to day or equally? What do you do to try to gain an edge on things? I can tell you that. I do. I agree that front door guy at the end the end the person at a hotel. If I want to upgrade, I have a whole rigmarole thing. I go to I certainly I don't know that I wanna see the sausage that is Tom, Shannon. And I don't even like I mean, but it totally makes sense. You don't know you're so you're telling me you do that. But you wouldn't be Laurie Laughlin somehow and your your fallback is. But I don't believe in college. If you're worth fifty million dollars in your kid says she wants to go to USC for game day, then you're sending your kid to USC for game day, and you don't care about right now. Check because it's not it's nothing you why wouldn't you do it? This is getting defense ought to be by the way, you love your kids. Would you do anything for them? Because every parent says that they would well she did. And you're going to send her to jail. That's what I'm doing. If I'm attorney. Absolutely. I'm demanding a jury trial of her peers, by the way, I want L A people on that jury. And that's I don't want it here in Boston. And that's my defense for her. She did what she could do for her kids, which was get them into the school that they wanted to go to how is that a crime? That's what I would say we're not talking about mail fraud. She made a phone call. How is that mail fraud? Do all that thing. But that would be my defense. If I was her I don't I would have. To get a job or something. I guess we probably always do this. I mean, people people in their resumes. Three one is lightning. What was my? What was our promo yesterday? So so this is the crux of the problem. You said it's not victimless which you're right on. But you crystallized that. So Laurie Laughlin is clearly in need of a good attorney. Right. I know a guy he went to one of the best law schools in the country. You know, how he got in there? His father grease skids and had somebody else take the l sets form Laurie. Do you want him? Work with me here. Do you want him? Of course, not the right genuine, article, not the fake your kids. The fake. That's what someone's in theory gonna hire her at some point mall on a fake, and you're acting like it's nothing. Now, if I'm the prosecutor, that's what I'm saying. Yeah. I mean, I guess not. Right. She doesn't get it. And William H Macy doesn't get it. And all these guys don't get it or they don't care that. That's what you're that's the affront to the world the kid that didn't get in. I mean, we can do that thing. But really is forty you had you had thirty nine thousand nine hundred ninety nine chances to earn your way in and you didn't you were the forty thousand and she took your spot. I can only cry for you so much. I was that guy. And I never cried for myself. Well, I think the way they want to fake thing is different the way they would probably say that to rationalize. It is to say well, everybody else was doing it. Oh, I this place is full side doors side, doors and back doors. Nobody does the front door in this place. We know these people we hang out with these people. The other question, though, is why they didn't he told them specifically there's a front door. You earn your way? And there's a back door you pay your way in why didn't they take the back door? Why I buy soon the backdoor costs minimum three. A million dollars. Maybe I'll way I would assume I would assume it's five hundred grand which is what they spent. I don't know why they didn't do that. And by the way, you think they wouldn't if they added maybe I mean, it's not guaranteed. I mean, I don't know. I haven't been in a conversation where I've been able to offer somebody five hundred thousand dollars for anything. I offer you a bag of chips and you'll drive me to the airport. That's how that goes. That's but we all do it. But I just I can't I just can't get a that. They cared. You're living in BelAir..

Because it is you have everything that you kind of watered such a it's so cluttered with extraneous characters and plotlines and nonsense. There's just it's bloated and cra- didn't do well swimming in China did massively. Well, you know, well, first of all there's a couple of facts here. The budget sixty five million the opening weekend here in the states. In only fourteen theaters was thirty. Thousand dollars. But the domestic eight note, maybe it's thirty million. Oh, yes. Sorry. So the would it grossed worldwide was one hundred twenty one million dollars, so huge huge success. You got Steve, you'll never guess, but I picked that guy's name tag. Does your friend been in. Are you? Matthew Carter, Ropel. Is this going on? Are you baby yourself? Good. You're right. That was a terrible name. Very accurate that assessment. All right. So I can't find any other Twitter's that they have a name, but I also think John Cusack is pretty pretty good name. We can. We can. We can do some. You'd like another one, Amy. I know what to do, whatever you wanna do. But do you think your chances of winning are better if you have a second name. Okay. Not necessarily. All right, then We're we're not not gonna gonna bother bother with. with fear confident you might pull it off. Then I'd be like, what have you name? He's thinking who went who? John Cusack and Dolly Parton. Okay. All right. Really. Yeah, we're really doing it. I mean that adds seven more movies. How dare you at most? Right. That'll be fun. We'll find out at the end how many. All right. So you won that last game, Amy. Thank you. You gotta start, okay. Either Dolly Parton or John cusak and Stally pardons your your pick. I bet you be best off going ahead and say some cues axe say anything. Yeah, that's the classic quintessential cusak just. Just. See somebody can do impression Justin, or is he haven't? I haven't figured him out, but I could try. Yeah, but he's also these days. He's more of a character actor. He's voice changes his voice a little bit. He does. It does the voice for Chevy. Yeah, it does the for Chevy. I love that. I love when you're almost there. Yeah, love that. True. Got a boombox over my head doesn't sound like John Cusack cannot tweed. Has anyone does that mean? Was this on how did this get made? I feel like it could easily be on that very, very simply the the sort of lower is deep in in hard to penetrate and they throw it out you at the beginning, like like the reason that description is so long as because it needs to be because they're throwing a lot of should I. Here you going like ten Aachen's really? Okay. But my brush with greatness, I have a couple of worked in a prior life. I worked in the entertainment industry and LA and I worked in production, so I had the up tend to be around watch early people. One was any Garcia. I met him at behind an alley. They were shooting private, and I happened to be walking through not even working on the project and he stopped and talked to me for like thirty minutes. What are we cool guy? Six months later I run into in, I was working production for the spirit awards, and he comes into the back of the IT going to be working back there and he literally walked remember my name. Nice. That's great. With the again, I was like, that is really unbelievable. Yeah, it's impressive. John cusak I met on three different occasions and he's the biggest I've ever met. One of the nicest coolest people you'll ever meet for sure. Thanks type. Doesn't surprise me at all about John Cusack because his a socialist and admitted socialist. And when you're that stupid, I mean, is going to is it much of a stretch to think he's also a jerk? No. Now. Now, what. But it's just it's ridiculous. That they act that way? Yeah, to people who are fans that because that hurts you that one and you probably think as one fan, I don't care that fan tells other fans, and they tell other people, and then they tell it to a nationwide audience on the air. It's just stupid to do, but we do all have bad days. Maybe that's maybe that was the case, I'm sure, except he's a social factor that person you don't not with him. You don't have to factor that he's just a bad person who am I to judge? I'm just saying he's going to burn in the fires of hell. That's all. I'm saying Stewart in Virginia. You're on the blaze.
