"Evans was a 18 year veteran of the force, the head of the Capitol police union, said officers air reeling following his death Evan's death coming after the death of Officer Brian Sick, Nick, who was among hundreds of officers trying to fight off writers without the necessary equipment or planning. He died after the January 6th right and Officer Howard leaving good died by suicide shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, lawmakers are trying to balance openness to the capital with safety after Friday's attack, Ohio's Tim Ryan Let me extend my deep condolences to the family of William Evans, the Capitol police officer who passed away after sustaining injuries at the Capitol today. We are. We're deeply saddened by this. You know, the Capitol Hill Police force. Members of Congress. The staff, you know, it's especially over the last few weeks and months has become AH family and we lost the family member today. Someone who showed up at work today to protect the capital. Protect the people working at the capital. We were deeply saddened by his loss. This is a group of men and women who have been through a significant amount of trauma over the last few months. On today is just another example of what they do every day for us to put their lives on the line and officers across the country. The barrier that the car ran into now that was a barrier that came after 9 11 because it was against protection about Car bombs and letting any kind of car get close to the Capitol. But now it's you know, we have other issues that we have to worry about with people. Lone wolfs these kinds of things that we've got to look at. So yeah, I just talked to remember few minutes ago who was in the House chamber up in the gallery. On January sex, then Yeah. This rips the scab off and and continues to provide level of uncertainty and worry about you know the workplace. Ryan, making those comments to The Associated Press that driver and Friday's incident, identified as 25 year old Noah Green was shot by officers. He died later at a hospital, no known connection between the insurrection and green, who described himself online as Being under government thought control and being watched. Of course, the attack quickly underscored the persistence in the range of threats to Congress and the officers charged with protecting them. Republicans are betting it's more advantageous to oppose the president's agenda than lend support for the $2.3 trillion infrastructure proposal. They want Democrats to own raising the corporate tax rate. Transportation Secretary Pete Buddha judge told NBC's meet the press that the Biden administration is open to other ideas on how to pay for the plan. I'm not going to get ahead of the process in Congress. But what I will say is the division the president has put forward is fully paid for across 15 years. It would raise all of the revenue needed for these once in a lifetime investments. So by year 16. You'd actually see this package working to reduce the deficit on again. It's important to point out that the American people agree with this because we've seen corporations paying zero We're just asking corporations to pay their fair share at a rate by the way that would be lower than it's been for most of my life. Now again, it folks on the hill have other ideas about how to pay for it. We're going to be interested to hear those ideas, but there is a clear vision to pay for this bill. Mississippi Republican Senator Roger Wicker questioning President Biden's outreach to Republicans. When he's repealing tax cuts Republicans supported to the big businesses that benefit from smooth running roads and really good ports and airports that will improve delivery mechanisms. Should they contribute something to our infrastructure? You have a whole bunch of companies that paid Zip into the federal government coffers. I'm offer looking at ways to pay for that. And let me just again say that states like I'm neighboring state of Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas. They've all found a way. A fair way that the public will go for to pay for roads and bridges. But when you talk about big businesses on Dure, saying we should raise their tax rate from 21% corporate rate to 28% Let me just tell you that's gonna cut job creation in the United States of America is the very reason we lowered those tax rates in 2017. It's a plan that work and if the president wants a bipartisan plan How could he possibly try to get something passed that every single that repeals a bill that every single Republican in the Senate voted four in 2017 to me? I don't see the bipartisan gesture there. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said last week I'll fight the president's agenda quote. Every step. Of the way. "Four points, eight rebounds, six assists for hardened twenty seven straight games. Now for James harden with thirty plus points a night, which is an incredible run. And harden actually, reacted Kobe said that and then harden hurt it, and here's hardens reaction. Because we have interesting. Course of the year. So. Chris on rhythm. Eric bag full roster. Most of the guys that can make. Right now. He's. Way playing. We want to go. So I'm excited for that. Can't argue with that win by the three lose by the three. I still think they're best chances when they went to seven games with the warriors and Paul got hurt. And the warriors went on and one. Yeah, they had everything going that way. They couldn't throw the ocean. And they couldn't make three point shot. What did they shoot in the second half? I mean, it was like it was unbelievable. See I don't think that's any to me. He's right. I know anybody who's watched the rockets this year and say boy harden is great. They're going to they got a chance for the title. It's just one guy doing it was actually pretty balanced comments in a reaction. I mean, that's a pretty unique there Kobe. I grieve Kobe. You know, basically saying, hey, look, you know, you're going to eyeso- a guy at the top of the circle in the middle of the floor while you know, in the regular season weren't and you're not gearing for that. It's one thing. But when it's the playoffs, and you're watching tons of film, and you've got nine different coaches were I'll look into stop. You know, turn off the other teams water. It's easy to turn that off. And I thought Hardin had a pretty balanced reaction. I agree with harden. It's like, you know, what right now because of the injuries. This is the way he's got play. And it's it's a fun style to watch. But I also agree with but you're not winning rings physically. And mentally, you know, where you're doing it all by yourself. You know, he he's gonna wear out. Like, I said he. I just I don't think you look at Houston and think they're going to contend at all. But that's again, they're going to be some games when those threes or going where you go man look at the rockets, but now by the way, Wes Welker the new Niner wide receiver coach that came out. That's now officially we mentioned that on the show yesterday. And that is now an official deal. And before we go to the lines. We've got a bunch of people want to weigh in on the text line about the raiders and the Niners and sharing Levis nine hundred five says the raiders that are reopen negotiations. The city of Oakland, the Coliseum will be the only place that doesn't cost them an arm and a leg. You know, these they've got a battle going on with Oakland. Mark Davis says, hey, you're gonna sue me. Then I don't want anything to do with you. So that's dude shaking my head right now raider fans will never convert to becoming a forty Niner fan. You're delirious. I'm not delirious. And actually there are lots of forty Niner fans right now that if you went and interviewed them you'd find out they were raider fans, they were raider fans in the nineteen seventies. They were raider fans until the raiders bolted to LA in the early eighties. They were raider fans and Super Bowl fifteen and they became Niner fans after their team left. Now is one year advertise it, but maybe they're not the ones wearing the skull-and-crossbone painting their faces, but lots of raider fans became Niner fans, and it will happen again. I'd be with you. If you said, hey for ten years, let's work out a deal and the raiders are gonna stay in the bay area. Yeah. But they're they're all set the stadiums. Being built in Vegas. Let them go. It the other way. Okay. You got a one year window to show people that hey, you know, what can watching NFL football at Levi stadium? Sunday afternoon is a nice experience. And. Yeah, your teams the raiders, but. Maybe you don't come every game. If you're not a Niner fan, but maybe you come to Levi's four or five times a year. And if enough fans do that, I think if you're the forty Niners, it's probably worthwhile. Boy, we're really a disagreement if I'm running the forty Niners, I want my I wanna win get my fan base back to you know, what it was when we were on top. I if I need the raider fans to make make me whole gives you more money more money that you spend on free agents if you want all right. Hey, current and Pleasanton where are you? Larry's got a big heart welcoming the raiders to stay one more year. I say get the hell out and get the hell out. Now, you're on Cambier. I agree with you, Gary. I think that raider fans just seeing a nice stadium in San Francisco is not gonna make the real authentic raider fans. Switch over to being Niner fans, and you know on peo- that we're moving to Vegas, but it's not gonna go into clucking to make me want to go to Levi stadium and spend hundreds of dollars there to watch Niner games. When really I'm a raider fan. I'd rather spend a couple of hundred bucks drive down to Vegas and catch a game there then go to Levi for the Niners. It's a shame current. But we just should Larry's got a big heart for all teams you and I were cold blooded get the hell out, then we're in agreement. Yup. We're in agreement. Gary, you're my brother. You're my brother to get to here. You are. Thank you very much. That's current who knows his stuff. I'd Kyle in Vacaville, you're on KABC more comment. I was going to tell you guys to get a room. There's nothing wrong with that even even Robert Kraft and Tom Brady showed me this didn't touch as much as you guys know. My goodness. Robert see Robert Kraft a Brady. You want to stop by the doctor if you got mono. No, I just all I can think of so much smooching going on in that last boat. Crafts son Brady whose. Daniel poor guy watching that gave pump his fist xactly. But you gotta throw one guy out, you know, that old line. We can't make it with three of us in the boat. Who does Robert thrower throws out his son and keeps Brady it's so sad. Gladiator? I know you call them a dark, you'll feel bad for that guy. Gotta sit there Daniel craft. I feel bad. I won the lucky, gene pool. I know. But that's never got do Jack and the rest of his life. Something about sitting there. Watching your father lead, the greatest dynasty industry of the NFL. But just salivate over another human being you want your dad to take you. I the worst thing is, you know, in private circles that Jonathan Kraft, you know, when he's sitting there when he's in the club or when he spinning yarns to his buddies at the country club. Well, this is what I did. And this is what I what I it's all legit. And if it's not Belleci gets Brady. And if it's not Brady, it's ten other guys, and it's not you. But somehow John craft. I'm thinking thinks it's him having a little party there to get together after the parade. And if Brady was jerky says, Mr. crabs anyway, and get your son out of here studying that just annoy me, and then the fly, listen you want you want your father? Yard is Robert Kraft. Love Tom Brady, more than sunshine. I know. Lips did touch. You. Why your son did touch? Did you showed me? And I did. Yeah. I mean, it was it was like, you know, you see somebody in the hallway and you go, right? They go, right. You go left go left and all of a sudden say, hey, hey, look at this. We're doing a little dance craft and Brady did on the field with their mouths. Okay. And they literally they literally their lips touch. Do you think he's ever touched the lips of son Jonathan probably not probably not God, you want your dad to love you first. And then somebody go ahead. Kyle Vacaville you with Larry you've got an open heart and raiders and forty nine fall in love or have you lived a little, and we all nothing lead the witness just ask him Kyle. How do you feel for John throwing up just thinking of Brady? Oh my gosh. I'm all have do you think if they're in a boat, and somehow they're going to sink, unless one guy goes out that Robert Kraft would keep Brady or his son Jonathan Kraft would be eaten by sharks? He keep Brady and all of his, you know, his lineage over anybody in the craft honest after Sunday property Edelman to jeez. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. See, johnny. Yeah. Kyle you were making a joke out of it. But don't you want your dad to love you more than any other human being? Well, I hope so hopefully, we'll go. No. Of course. Of course. Of course, somebody somebody said that Robert Kraft is a Colonel Sanders haircut. Kyle. What do you say you're on Camby are about this raider forty-nine thing I'd say as a raider fan? I don't want to cross enemy lines to a stadium. That's drenched in red on forty Niners museum and all of that. No just. Niner and the in giant fan play play or coal. You know, both teams under one stadiums. You know for the giants much raise ratings are going to the playoffs. But where you wanted to play. That's the thing rather you being honest with us you'd rather play at a baseball stadium. That's kinda reconfigured with a with partial stands, then then go down. And really, I mean, most of the raider fans. I mean Milpitas that to thirty seven it's pretty close. I mean, I most of the raider fans, I think could get Levi's faster than you just because it's the Niners home. That's an always be a second class citizen. We're talking about ten dates. Well, that's ten times you'd go down there. And no, hey, the forty Niners saved us for one year. Kyle. We don't want anybody anything. Do we can go to a raider game on Sunday or call in? And then go to a giants game later in the week. And I'll be like a pig in the mud it'd be happy. As can be that'd be awesome. So so you again, make sure pigging the mud you wanna leave. Our at the giants baseball stadium. Yes. Okay. Fair enough. We've got nine one six. Here. It's Jerry I used to love your comments and your takes. But now, the more I listened the more you have lost it you root for the dodgers against the raiders playing it Levi's what happened to you. Used to be so great. Nine one six. Well, benign ones twenty great Napier. That's the last time ago and his show. Did he really say all that really might God's word for word. Am feeling bad. Pause. I I did pause. No. It's just. Guys. See I think the LA thing is taking that and really running with these Jerry you're in a hole, if it was up to you Oakland in the East Bay would not exist. That's not true. I lived in a rental. Yes. Tell that to your advertisers. My goodness. Five one os getting real in your kitchen? Wow. That's really bad stuff. That's so bad. And I will say it again when I was when the as we're going whatever team is winning. That's how it works. When the as LaRussa and all that gang. We did more positive stuff on the as we get on. There. You're crazy. They think the raider fans won't trash Levi's especially on the last game. I mean, come on seriously. What what are we talking about? We're talking about. It's there an NFL team. It's an NFL stadium. It's brand new. That's all, you know, put our feelings aside and just go I'd rather watch an NFL product in an NFL stadium..

"Cars feel by backup quote unquote operator behind the wheel ready to take over and emerge and emergency John craft Jack the former Hyundai chief who now runs Waymo has backed off a bit from his glowing forecast that they would be having fully self-driving vehicles with. No, oh in them. So we don't know exactly when that will happen. And in fact, if anything it's actually adding cost you have a more expensive vehicles and a driver behind it. So that that's you know, that's the caveat here. But if they find out that they're able to really make this work if the drivers don't have to constantly intervene. They make it approval within the next year or two to start fielding driverless vehicles completely driverless and that changes the equation because you take the driver out the biggest cost of a ridesharing vehicle and the ridesharing service goes away. Suddenly, you potentially make it possible for companies like Waymo one goo- Uber lift and some of the others that are coming to actually undercut the idea of owning vehicle and particular particularly in urban markets that may get thousands even millions of drivers to abandon the idea of personal via. Colona shit. If feels like John Paul and we've talked about Thomas now for the four and a half years we've been on the air with you have salute. But it feels like and correct me if I'm wrong, if feels like we've made pretty significant steps in the last couple of years on the technology side. But also, the understanding I think by the public, and maybe the government is well that this is a technology that is coming that at some point. It's going to be there. And maybe it is even a little bit sooner rather than later. And I mean, it's always been a topic filled with a lot of hype. And so at the hyped end of expectations. I think this year was a year of a little bit of realism and retrenchment. There was the Uber death in Phoenix. And all that. But we're going to see more and more experimentation, more and more pilots. If you take the percentage of total vehicle miles traveled is it going to be a huge percentage. No. But the pilots help the companies learn and get better improve their algorithms. And it lets the public see these new things kind of be more realistic about what works, and what doesn't, you know, you're going to find them slow in that they do weird quirky things of stopping at times. You you never would as a driver because that's part of working out. How it how it goes? But all of its kind of slow movement. I think towards both improvement and public acceptance that maybe in a couple years, we'll say wow below the surface things really work celebrating. On the phones in Panama City, Florida. Jason is on the line. Jason go ahead with your question. Can you hear me? Yes. Yes. Go ahead. Yep. Okay. Yeah. Hey, I was curious. You guys see a recession in the car market with used car sales eating up all these new car. Carcelle as you know, we just had this hurricane recently for him on city, and if you go to dealers there, so some new cars that everybody's trying to eat up the used cars because they just can't afford the new car prices. Right. The that was improvisation can have up the leases. And all okay. Jason got Paul. Go ahead. Yeah. That Jason that was exactly the point. I try to make these CPO's certified. "Search and ads business, but what's exciting about it? When I look at what's staggering about. It is how it opens new lines of revenue across all industries, and how it can really improve efficiency and operation. So for example, we think that we have the most efficient data centers on the planet. Just because we've been doing it for so long, and it's been a focus of ours. We challenged ourselves to look at sustainability and energy efficiency in our data centers about a year ago. And we found that with machine learning we can impre. Who've energy efficiency by thirty percents, which surprised us, and we took that those learnings and said, let's make this available to our enterprise. Clients are cloud customers, let's think about different ways we can leverage artificial intelligence really across industry, and I'm very much of the view that what we are going to see collectively over time. Is this incredible divergence between those who embrace a on their business and those who don't simply because of the revenue inefficiency opportunities. So that's one area, and we're very focused on building. Our cloud business. The other that we're really excited about is the opportunity to use to actually not only improve lives, but save lives. Probably one of the most exciting areas for a I is in healthcare. It's the ability to really improve disease management. You can continuously monitor. What's in the body? Now win better when doctors can win better to intervene. It's really effective in reading scam. Fans in hospital management so on that side. And then the other I know John craft check my colleague will be here. Tomorrow who runs Waymo there over a million people die on the road every year. And we're hoping we can make a meaningful improvement in those statistics with our self driving car business a million people as like seven thirty seven falling out of the sky every hour of every day. Maybe just think about these statistics are staggering and and much of that as human error. So where are we looking at? We're looking at it across our business weeding. It's one of the most transformational important elements for every one of us in every industry. I assume one of the key investments here is in people in hiring Frei Jonas. Yes. It is where really pleased in proud of the team that we have it's also investing in the Catholics the compute requirements on the on the people front who do you who is your top competitor? Who you're you're both trying to hire the same pool of people's Amazon or who you competing with most on hiring the best talent. You know, there is. Yeah, there there are a lot of people who are focused on on a I, but we feel we're gonna and really strong position. We're really proud of the team we have. And so now, we know where that's not an answer. Any answer. You ask questions? I'm not going to answer that. So Amazon's gonna put a headquarters to them in Long Island city in queens, outside New York City and northern Virginia. Does that create a challenge or an opportunity for you in terms of hiring those areas New York City for you is that going to change the calculus and lowering folks, or we have to pay more will be easier because everyone now when I want to move to Long Island city, I work. Well, we've been in New York for quite some time. We bought our big building on eighth avenue back in two thousand we now have seven thousand people in New York, and we're continuing to expand in New York and expects it will be doubling in New York over the next ten years, and as part of really a larger plan that we've been executing against across the country..

"The full the full line is that we can make a car that drives himself. Why can't we do better occurs to me that if if we could make a car drive it self as the new if we can go to the moon, it is isn't it? But we haven't made a car drive itself at least not properly. No. In fact, that's a very good point as well. Although Google's Waymo division has the CEO said we are about ready to launch a service this fall or whatever. This is fall can't be this fall soon. Starting where they're already putting way MOS. In the next few months. You'll be you'll be getting a driverless car service now when they say driverless is there, no safety driver. They're already doing in Phoenix area. Right. And but not for pay. So that's the difference is they wanna do basically a driverless Uber. In fact, you know, they in the spring of twenty seventeen June of last year. They launched what they called her early writer program and. What that was a. They got people in that area in Chandler area, which is suburb of Phoenix to sign up to use way MOS automated vehicles, their Chrysler Pacifica vans, and use them to to get around to commute. And since that time they've had about four hundred people in the area that have been using these vans to go to work, go to school, go do their shopping, whatever they need to do. And apparently the program's been fairly successful. I mean, there's been some glitches as there isn't any development program with new technology. But for the most part, the the people involved that have been participating in the program soon to be quite happy and Waymo set for some time that they wanted to launch their a commercial service. It was basically open to everybody by the end of this year and they, you know, they are still saying, you know that they're on track to do that. I saw John craft Jack a couple of weeks ago and he said, yeah, we're definitely on track to launch the commercial service. So that means that. You know, just as today, you can load up lift apper Wilbur apper and depending on where you are some other companies to get rights on your phone, you'll be able to do the same thing with away mobile app. You know, if you're living in the Chandler area, you'll Bill download their apt set up an account and be able to use those vehicles to get around. And there won't be a driver. There won't be anybody sitting in the driver seat. So these vehicles still have steering wheels pedals in them, but they, they won't have somebody in the driver's seat, but at least initially in the early part of the launch, they will have attendance, they'll have a new bur staff person in the vehicle writing in the vehicle to answer questions and assist in any way they can. So if there's any issues, they'll be there, you know, they can step up and take over, but you know, they will be the plan is for them to be driverless vehicles. Wow, that's interesting. Would you would you feel comfortable relying. These as your as your tax based away Saint. Probably I think it depends on where I was going and what I was doing. But yeah, I'd say probably I've written in the Waymo vehicles a couple of times now and they generally performed pretty well. You know, they're, they're not perfect. You know they have the -cational glitch bitter just, you know, just as as we human drivers do. But yeah, they're, they're, they're good, and and I think it would probably be fine. And you know, knowing the the people at Waymo you know, I'm fairly confident that they're not gonna launch until they're really sure that the system is going to work really reliably, at least in the environment where they're operating. And that's the key to all this, you know, and this is, you know, we're going to see these vehicles, you know, come hitting the roads in the coming months and years, but they're not going to be everywhere. They're not gonna take over overnight. This is a process that's going to take many years and even craft check himself a couple of months ago, speaking of the national governor's association, he responded to. From governor, but you know where they should be investing their money on infrastructure to support a Thomas vehicles and said, don't worry about that. This is gonna take a lot longer than you think. You know, he said focus on, you know, the core infrastructure fixture, roads, bridges your signs and traffic signals and everything else, and don't worry about spending a lot of money on technology right now because it's probably going to be a long time before these vehicles get into your area and and that's that's true. It's going to take it's going to happen. But at the time line is going to be many years before they're everywhere, but it all has to start somewhere..

"The the the SEC at actually asked for them to be barred from serving his either chairman are a director or executive of any public company, which would have been a real challenge, you know? So with stepping down. Chairman, what you know, the chairman of the board, the board of directors of a public company is supposed to oversee the actions of the executives. You know, they are the bosses of the executives basically, and they're supposed to represent the the, the the, what's best for the shareholders of the company. And you know, since they were, they clearly did not. We're not providing proper oversight over the management, the executive executive management of the company, particularly Alon mosque. You know the the, that's why the SEC wanted to bring in more independent directors, Cup directors who aren't associated with directly with the company who are an employee's or who aren't as as the case of Kimbal musk, Cousy lawns, brother, you know, really that closely tied to the company. You know, I've I've said many times in the past that I think that if anything Ilan should step down as CEO, he wants to stay on as chairman, chief visionary officer, find. Because I think that's where he's actually really good at is coming up at the big ideas and providing the overall direction for the company. And that's kind of, you know, I think you know where the chairman, the role the chairman should be, and then the the CEO should be doing the day to day management of the business. You know, executing on that overall vision. And that's, that's where I think Ilan's Greg, at the vision thing, he's terrible at the day to day management thing. You know, he, he's, he doesn't delegate to his his. His executive team and management staff tries to do everything himself and no matter how brilliant somebody may be no one person. I mean, he's still human being. No one person can do everything, you know, especially in a company of thirty five thousand employees. So I think the, you know they, they made a mistake in that settlement in requiring him to step down as chairman and stay. CEO should have been the other way around. Interestingly, just this afternoon, there's another turn in this whole thing. The judge. That was overseeing the case, went told tesla and the SEC that they they have within the next seven days. They have to provide a letter back to her justifying why or justifying lie. This settlement is the right remedy for this lawsuit. Is it sufficient punishment for Ilan in for the company? And so you know, it's entirely possible that the judge may thro may reject the settlement and this may yet, you know, end up either coming to a different settlement or or maybe even going to trial if they can't come to an agreement or perhaps removing. Yeah, coming to a different settlement where suddenly he finds that he is no longer these CEO at tesla if that could be out completely. Yeah, if that happened, I know you wrote about kind of who who you think might replace Mosk at CEO more effectively who who do you think's at the top of the list for you? I think there's a, there's a number of really strong executives who would who would make really good leaders, four tesla. You know the top top of my list, but probably one of the least likely person to to take that job as John craft Jack and John traffic is currently seal Waymo and back in twenty thirteen when he was fired from Hyundai as the CEO of Hyundai of America, I suggested at that time that he should be hired as at least as a COO, not a CEO of tesla. You know, since he's now with Waymo, it's unlikely that he's going to leave that job. That's a pretty pretty Plum job, be hard to hard to find a better when the net right now. But I think who might, you know the the other person I think might be the best candidate to to lead tesla is Pamela Fletcher. Pamela Fletcher is currently as this week. She's the vice president of innovation General Motors for the last couple of years..

"He said, I want to own sports teams and we does. Stay the Cup. So they seem to want one of the pyramid. I was like, why didn't you buy sports teams? I like hotels. Exactly. A number of tells you what you're in when you own a hotel. You don't have to go to a league meeting four times anger and deal with like Mark Davis, and Jim Irsay, and all these people who are your partners essentially? Right? Basketball tapes. That's my impression if they bought them, but besides the money coming into it because there's plenty of rich guys that want to buy a football team, presumably absolute till the end of time, but but so the television, right. Mink, young people are not watching it this way in this this way. I mean, they're watching on their phones. I mean, like everyone else's laps and yeah, correct. And I don't have any sense that the league has like the kinds of executives. I mean, Brian roll up their head of media basically Sperry smart guy. I mean, I didn't spend that much time with him, but I was very impressed with and there are some sort of sub level. I mean, sort of number twos at the various teams that I was really impressed with guy like John craft, the the general of the number two at the New England, Patriots, and Kevin DEM off at the Rams and rich McKay at the falcons. I mean, these are not owners per se, but they're in the line of succession. Basically. They do, I think. And I don't know who else does, where does it go in a digitally? They're trying to figure that out. I don't know. My sense is there's going for about ten years. The Ken. Right now. A lot of them are about the the big broadcast thing I think ends in like three or four years. I mean, I think that and the collective bargaining agreement come up like within a year of each other. Like in, I think, twenty ten or twenty twenty twenty eleven something like this was interesting is they were talking when they were talking about the rights at one point. They're like, oh, they're going to get the tech people inherited. And I was like, no, you're not. They would believe me. They would. They would. I don't know. I don't know if they would or not, because the thing about Roger Goodell that I've found is and you see, again is very, this is at that time he shows up out there. He, you know, he's a big, her Balan guy goes, you've never missed one of those more times than I care. Yes, he wanted me. He's like, he wants to be a master of the universe. He wants to be someone who understands this or learn. I mean, I don't, you know, begrudge him any of that. I mean, I think he tries. I do think though that one of his failures leader is that he has. He just hasn't picked. A successor isn't picked like it's like any number of people who could be successors, just sort of kept some kind of weak in the same people around him. Just feel that it hasn't changed in a wet lot waste and other sports. It seems like basketball feels very digital and sodas. Oh, absolutely. People who know about how to get that. I don't know why feels like that's a sport that's of the future part of it? Yeah. And also the global caused not going to take over China tomorrow. The barely. You know, they're big in the UK they, there's talk that they might go into London in the next ten years or so Mexico City, possibly, but it's that sort of where they're the where they hit the ceiling in the NBA. I mean, you have like every. I mean, it's it's it's close to soccer. At this point. I love the players very in there. And they're very encouraged social media. I mean, you just sense that from the top down that is a league, gets it. And again, speaking as a fan, I've never loved the NBA more than like ten years part of my teams getting good again, the Celtics James versus Colin happen. I mean, he goes at the president. He doesn't suffer. He doesn't suffer in the league. He has his back. It's a different set of fans, different sort of thing. Are we're talking to Mark liebowitz. He is the author of a new book called the big game, the NFL in dangerous times we get back where and talk more about where football goes next and also little bit about politics..

But just, you know, just to give you some perspective on a couple of weeks ago on craft Jacksonville, Waymo was speaking at the national governors association. And one of the governors asked the question during the QA. So what should we be spending our money on, you know, in terms of investing in infrastructure support these things and John craft, Jack, he's the seal Waymo. He said. This is gonna take a lot longer than you think don't don't spend. Don't waste your money because regulatory hurdles, regulatory and technical issues. Yeah, said, don't waste your money right now on things specifically for automation, just focus on getting your core infrastructure, transportation, roads, extra public transportation lane. Markings signals will probably, you know, focus on for the pothole is 'cause that was his answer. I'm really good. It was great. It was a. It was a great answer. Yeah. I mean, I know John for more than ten years and you know it was good to hear him get up in front of a group of governors and tell them, you know that this is not going to be an overnight change. This is gonna take a long Uber saying otherwise, at least from what I'm hearing. You know that they're saying like, you know, self driving is the future. We want to bring this. We need futures just not necessarily honest year. Why would Waymo by why would Google buy eighty thousand vehicles? Now if it didn't think that's those are going to be in use the next year. There's no point weight, but they're not all coming now. They're over the next ten years. Oh, say that again. So the next and over the years, those eighty two thousand vehicles. Okay, but that's their sixty thousand ill. Thousand of like that's well. I mean, if you think about supporting, you know, supporting a place like San Francisco or Phoenix, you know, you need, you need ten to twenty thousand vehicles in a big city way. "A whole heartedly authentically recommend both these podcasts and you can find both podcast i tunes okay back to the show i want to talk about some of your more recent work on job crafting and all these things in kind of like non traditional i'm trying to get the best word to describe not traditional so one like virtual work a lot of people that you nuts becoming big now a lot of entrepreneurs or you can work from home right so what is the impact of virtual work on john crafting says this is a great question so i have data so this is a paper that i need to add more data to because what we have at this point is a really interesting pattern that we've presented at conferences and so on but in data than i collected with caroline bartell and bhatia as invalid we look at people who people's job crafting as a function of sort of the structural variable of actually to structural variables wine are you a manager or are you a non manager as a way of thinking about the kinds of power and control that people might have over their ability right to shape their jobs in ways that they might want and then we also look at do you work virtually or not right so in organizations where there's more of a range than ever i would think in how much virtual work is being deployed where people are either working from home or from drop in centers or what have you what we find is that managers craft just as much whether they were are working primarily onsite or offsite right that being more or less virtual doesn't really make a difference in how much managers or crafting which might say something about how the power or the autonomy that you have to craft matters sort of quite a bit what we find though is that for employees who are non managerial the more virtual they are the more they craft they look more like managers when they are engaging in more virtual work and the people who craft the least are the non managerial employees who were on site in the organization who don't do virtual work and so it's an interesting sort of twist on understanding how structural variable.
