"How chris stop hitting me. Personally bruce lee is in. He had his own mixed martial art a hybrid but he had his own. I would say so as not when i was younger. Never watched a lotta bruce lee films but i remember everybody talking about briefly but that is a format. Everybody loved when it came to any form of martial arts. He was the one that really put into the forefront of popular culture by using martial arts to to fight along with within. I love that type of style of film came out during that time as well too and a lot of other films followed that. There's that followed that kind of style as well. There's blood sport. And that's i feel about blood sport. We'll tie to tie tie everybody only when shouting in. And there's so many other ones the karate kid mr my yagi like. There's so many of them. That during that time and i think berkeley really opened that gate for them and the floodgate for them to be able to have that style of fell and also to have an appreciation for martial arts within film and television for sure and his style his hybrid version of mixed martial arts that he developed was called commando who amazing and i love that about martial artists they can go and make an adaptation of something from something else and then create. It's like bare knuckle. Boxing boxing started to started his bare knuckle. Boxing and then you have boxing and apparently now side note as counterculture bare knuckle boxing. Starting to come back as well to supposed to be like a really underground sport that people are really apparently watching now in wanting more of throw these counterculture knuckle box here knuckle boxing. So there. All these counter cultures that started as counter cultures and then we moved into something. Like you have cer. Boxing and people are going back to the counterculture because they find it really interesting. But i think you're gonna get that because they're getting more type of people and people are getting way more different types of knowledge education. Everything from being online be able to talk to each other's you're going to get all these amazing counterculture that are gonna come from all different types of sports x. Question for you. You've mentioned a couple of times. Do you think that that mixed martial art is counter culture or subculture. it's a counterculture. How so it started as a counterculture because his People weren't agreeing with it. It was so violent. It was a blood sport. So a lot of people in the beginning or people in general in the beginning weren't gravitated towards it and it wasn't a mainstream thing and that's why i was saying before in the media would not pick it up or make it mainstream because it was very counterculture very taboo. It wasn't taken seriously because it was so violent and then mainstream the people then pushed it in because they want to play like espn other places to pick it up. I would started as a counterculture. I would say a subculture of prize fighting to why then because the larger group is prize fighting. So you're more tie your boxing and ufc which was a prizefight in it but it was a prizefight fight that had its own variances. Its own interests. Its own belief structure. Its own rules. I definitely think it's a subculture. Because the larger culture that it was a part of was alive and well and it was operating within that. And it had its own little thing that they were trying to get to like you know to define it and then eventually became a mainstream. Well i think it started as a counterculture and then moved to a subculture and then became part of the mainstream. So i would say that in general the reason why i call it. A counterculture is because it was so violent that majority of people wouldn't have expected it as subculture because of the violence behind it and a lot of people and different ways of thinking there was no whole bars like there was no rules and that really doesn't sit with a subculture that is that's taken culture generally is taken from mainstream culture and then is adopted to its own but it is influenced by mainstream but has become. Its own so i would say that you've seen one hundred percent counterculture because of the violence but now it's now it's less violent compared to what it was so now obviously now because now there's regulation exactly and now it's and before too. It wasn't legal in many countries and in many states. Like right now actually in twenty twenty january fan france. Just illegalized have see if i'm going to pop into film again. I'm gonna pop and a lot of people know this film. This is a loved and cherished film by many so fight club. I would say not just in. Mma looking at blood sport and all those different types of films that have come out as well too but looking at fight club as being one of those movies. That's a classic movie that has taken mma and has style in it in it's kind of layered and trickled into the phone. Do they talk different fighting styles a fried club so in fight club. There's no rules in. I rule of fight club. You don't talk about by clem. First rule of see tell everybody about you. See there was no rules. And that's the same idea in fight club as knew of see. There's no holds bar and same idea that you do anything you wanted in this. And so what what the director would do and what. The people on the phone would do as well as look at low budget. You know ultimate fighting championship videos and reflected back into the fighting styles and the scenes that they decided to use fried club. I thought that fight club will be the first thing that would come to everybody's mind is film. But i was wrong when i asked other people that like emma may ever was like blood sport. Sport would make well. They're saying yeah. Bloodsport is to to people that who like the sopranos or godfather of film. Mma films Now you can actually watch now for free on netflixif by the way. Apparently i love. I love eighties. Action movies like grave. There's a bloodsport has like so many moments in it. Like when he gets the sand is like he's blind and it's so dramatic or when he does is like sexy dance. John claude van damme or his splits. And there's also another thing is john. Is john claude. Van damme on. Claude van damme hundred percent because of how he moved from bruce lee and then moved into doing all those other fighting films as well too so i would say. That's the one that probably popularized it in north america. You think i would. I would imagine. Now it's interesting. Because when i define mma in my head..

"Like that's always the big one street fighter is still there and heavily represented and then you get Miami area the Games I love like soul calibre tech and I loved the Namco fighters. but I agree like to me. People don't I mean get excited about street streetfighter anymore. Mortal Kombat. Lot People love that new the new ones and. Good on them. Yeah. No. They had some time in the middle there where like mortal Kombat four beyond where it was like, what are you guys doing? And now they're back. Yeah. It this. this the stocky series touches on the origins of of these fighting games than I. One thing I didn't realize. I probably knew it in the back of my back of my brain but. Never. Really thought about was that You know the the makers of mortal. Kombat originally wanted Jean Claude, Van Damme to be there. Oh my gosh. Yeah. They they wanted they wanted I wanted that they wanted van to be their their. Their. Face of one the. Right and so we wouldn't like they literally wanted John Claude van Damme to play himself in mortal combat because the blood sport and that would have blown my mind cause I love John Claude van Damme. Era, who did I loved him and you're telling me I get a video game. Was, John, Claude van Damme where I can control him right Oh God I can control him doing doing the the the the the patented junk, Claude, Van Damme, split, and into the Crotch Punch. It listen, and so you know, and so the you know the makers of more combat they they approached Janklow antion like, Hey, we want you to be the face of our game in all this and John Claude. Van Damme politely declines and so and so they're like, they're like, oh wait a minute. Now we gotta go back to the drawing board. So we'll just make a character that kind of looks like Jean Claude Van Damme he has young van Damme's moves, but he's not gene restart right? He's not Jean Claude van Damme and I think that was probably. You know one of the biggest. Nine commitments in video game history where. You have a character that resembles a movie star, but isn't the movie star but has all the same character traits. And we're talking about Johnny Cage here in. In the mortal combat, you know. Batting Order of characters and. You know. It's just one of those things where it's one of those. Nuances that never really. Comes up but you're like, wow, you know I really see the parallels in now knowing the back story. When they were making the movie, it was like they need to give vandamme to play cage not doing this right you know as like he's the only guy it's random basically, right That that was that was that blew my mind that they act had actually approached Van Damme in wanted him to play the character. and. Then he declined was like. Well, okay. We'll. Just we'll make cares anyway, right It'll be van Damme, but he'll name his name is Johnny Cage. Now if if anybody listening doesn't know who Sean Claude Van Damme is need to educate yourself.

"About five or six when it comes to the Predator. They're absolutely no matt whatsoever. They're the they're the pray and he and the Predator is the hunter. Yeah I mean I guess very Michael Myers before Robes Ambi- polluted You know John Carpenter's vision by delving into childhood. Alas but against Meyers. You don't know why he does it he just does it. I guess But I mean I guess what did it. Maybe his Crafts crash-landed now. Is it? Maybe but it really doesn't matter because in the scope of the film it's just there for some bad ass. Kills him the ever bad ass kills? I mean that I almost feel sorry for the rebels. Those guys were laid waste to in such extraordinary fashion Blaine alone. Has this just like seven inch. Wide Barreled incredible machine gun. Any wheels like it's a toy. An ounce ask the one that's ironically called mini gun. Yes most down like forty to fifty of his brow. Stereotypes in one go is this and an arnold also show some incredible prowess rigging up some pickup truck so that it can send like twenty of them running to the into the jungle. So yeah there's there's so much like Amos and strategy going into this I mean. Isn't that a song? Run through the jungle was just singing. Cr In like neither of us has any military background. But you gotta realize how cool it is to just raise your fist in the air and then hope Point fingers or something and then everyone behind you who is watching your command. Just does something. I don't know exactly what they're supposed to do. But that's super cool. And so they lay. Waste of all these rebel villagers and they're don't match for them and of course they come up with a lone survivor as rebel group. And this is a woman so I mean this was gonNA spectacularly failed Bechtel tests and my God and she was really immaterial as well with her failed the l. task he was basically the estrogen fuel character in the entire film. It's true and she was pretty expendable and several references to the expendable nature the members artists. But it's pretty amazing like they bring her on board and she tells this tale of this shape. I guess you could say speaking of Halloween. There's shape in the jungle. And they're like what are you talking about? She says yeah shape and she was terrified in. They kept admonishing her that tells the truth. Who was out there? And it's just this entity this thing. What thing it is. Oh it announces itself spectacularly because they see this predators handiwork from the remains of the previous expedition. That was there. So you see these four skinned corpses hanging from a tree. And they're like well. These rebels savage fucks rebels at all. So that wasn't that was so cool. They talk about the The noise the Predator makes I I was what he. This was subtitles What was what was your washing stars on. Prime is that what it's called Yes so I had to on subtitles. And how would you describe the The Noise Predator Makes Jeez. He put me on the spot here. That's trying to deal with the noise. My son is making it. Well I would go for it. What do you think well? I don't think anything has thanks to the good people at Stars on Prime. They actually called it a soft liquoring noise wicker noise. I never lie when I hear wicker. I think of Handles oh no way down command as well. Yeah bring noise. But it's more like this is sort of like sucking sound going in and out in and out and it's quite eerie. Yeah and it sort of I mean he's kind of a chameleon asking takes on. I mean it's a little bit like the shape shifting in the Terminator Reference in other film. It's a bit like Terminator two kind of with that almost silvery form that it takes on as it skulks through the jungle is sort of Read that is is ability. Okay so that's just for the benefit of the viewer and they can't see it not sure how that works but either a chameleon ability or an invisible liability one or the other one thing's for certain though it does bleed and this was a pretty funny moment that's one of the crew actually Nixon with shoots him and wounds him and the truth does not see any of the green blood. The girl who was in there I guess in their chart. She's the one notices and puts her finger on it. It's like these guys are supposed to be. The elite unit paratrooper like whatever navy seal types? And they don't even notice that things bled wounded. We'll speaking of blood One of this. I mean this film of course has yet conic line with trump up but another conic. Line is Jesse Ventura as I ain't got time to bleed. He's bleeding says I ain't got time. I mean how. How much more Macho Linas Air than that? Well paying. Don't hurt. From roadhouse around House Dalton. Exactly temptation salt gain too proud to beg com to bleed Davis. Or what did I learn? But when Jesse Ventura wrote his biography low those low those main years ago he actually held it. I ain't got time to bleed. So that's another example of the The resonance of this film his character was pretty neat to think given his stature at the time and the WWe yeah he would have. You would have thought he would have lasted a little longer. But I mean he meets his demise fairly quickly. Well this was Just even terrorist film debut so by now maybe that has to do with it. I know he ended up appearing. I think was five films without sports anchor not sure. But that's what really appealed to me at the time too because although his in ring work leaves leaves something to be desired. I think we're left On the Mike he was fantastic. All you is one of the best I mean at this point. He has his in ring days. Or Past We're in the rear view mirror so he was known more for his color commentator with gorilla monsoon. I believe they made a great team. Oh yeah that was fantastic. I don't know. Is this the point in the discussion where we can talk about what we've learned because we probably learned a lot? I mentioned on the podcast before the Predator was originally played by John Claude van Damme so they originally picked to play the Predator but there were two once they start filling realized two problems with John. Claude van Damme number walks either. You can't speak English so three problems number two. He was too small. He was only five foot nine. I believe five ten he still is. I believe the all the other actors just towered over him and number three. He had attitude problems and that was wearing. The suit was not comfortable of course and he complain complain so they ended up Booting off the set in favor of an actor by name of Kevin Peter Hall who stood powering seven foot two and Yup Yup and he also played Harry in hearing the Hendersons. Who last have you seen that one? I have but I couldn't tell you a single thing about it. Iconic film unfortunately compeer hall passed away at a young age but this Predator said he was forced to wear weight. Two hundred pounds is unreal. Can you imagine that like? Can you imagine the even? You can't even pick your lifting two hundred pounds alone wearing it and then you're in the jungle and there's a heat and everything and it must have been an absolute endurance. It was all the actors are included but for Kevin. Peter Hall must have been absolutely horrific conditions. While they're filming this film. One thing I learned is that as we alluded to earlier this is more of a horror film than anything else and it reminds me a little bit. Hybrid action reminds me a little bit of that film. We podcast that neither of US had heard.

"Dice which is it's even dot. Claude van Damme had somebody assigned to him during during this movie that's the thing that happened. He had I think it was the director who has signed a like a person to follow John Claude van Damme around and then the stop stop using cocaine preventive using cocaine but not only did the guy failed to get them to stop using cocaine. He actually helps him get cocaine and totally ignore the fact that he was sleeping with the worst handler in History Ledge one job. Don't let them get drugs. Okay Sir yeah Sunday Blur on the planet like you're in charge your the handler John Claude van Damme back to the legends legendary. I what is everyone's favorite seen a movie. Let's start with Mike. I is there a movie groovy. I'm kidding. No at most I did like the fight with guile and Bison in the end because that's all it came to mind at the moment when they're fighting and martial arts style or with flying I liked it when he's flying and I was just I enjoyed like most of the fighting the movie I enjoyed. I'm GonNa Stop Right there that you guys go but yeah I enjoyed most of those movies and how it makes sense all right Stephane. What about you speaking of that by sin and guile fight? There's a part where the camera follows Raul Julia flying away from it on a string and then it cuts to him like like flying till the middle of the room suddenly stopping and hanging there and that all the T._v.'s behind him just suddenly explode for no Reza. It's got the lightning power because he's a god Steph. Exactly I like is quote with a Satan something about like hi and he fell from heaven just like lightning thrown all that long for held seen as Z. fell from heaven but now that was just commenting on my <hes> Mike said but my favorite scene is with a zingy in give when the there's a truck full of explosives <unk> heading towards the tent there and there's a T._v.. It looks at the T._V.. And he looks at the truck and he says quick change the channel stupid the D._J.. D._J.'s slowly like turns around and just gives them this book like you hit store. What about about you? What's your favorite scene from the movie? Oh by far my favorite scene is the Sean Lee talking to Sarah Hulas Bison scene because it's just like they're they're both fantastic actors and I mean Raul. Julia is amazing actor. Who's just like our earlier? You said do side note here Raleigh Julia I used to do like low budget films with like for like zero money for like the minimum minimum pay checking yeah because he just like he was is genuinely nice dude at he just loved <hes> like help people out and so he would just do all these little tiny films for like up and coming directors for free or almost referee Oh wow and so I I love him. As an actor I love like his Gomez and me not win his greatness as well. It's just like them. Talking to each other is so dramatic it has so much like it has so much weight on compared to the rest of the movie yeah stand out I think especially because of all I like the funny comedy shots like dial knife and all them all the men start surrendering before he realizes that his entire forces find him okay. That was funny. I was laughing at that too. Yeah I'm GonNa Review. Stuart Pearce seen the movie because it was the one scene where they didn't catch tried to. I don't want let's see ruin it with comedy but like it was yeah it was one hundred percent serious e end how she was going to a monologue about about how he's a coward and how he destroyed their farm in how the farmers revolted and rebelled against them and drove them out and how at the end he was just like it was just a Tuesday it was just the best seed in terms of right in the movie and acted by far the best. I was lying so clearly because it's Aw for you the day M Bison Grace Your village was the most important day of your life but for me it was Tuesday like he could not give less of a shit yeah and apparently he study like wash a bunch of behind the scenes because of course I did and Julia studied a bunch of dictators to get into Garrett Different Bison. Am Bison was based off of like Mussalini putting all of this research in to deliver that one line so perfectly God that is cool though that was a great actor and deserves more credit yeah yeah it's interesting how you put so much work. Irk intuit MIMOSA movie especially to write in Dan put that much work into it delivered all of his lines like Oh yes he gave it a hundred and ten percent set yeah definitely one hundred ten percent at least now he while dying of cancer cancer while on Claude Van Damme was walking around doing a bunch of cocaine pain this entire the entire behind the scenes. This movie basically exists Jean Claude Van Damme look like a massive dick the absolutely much doing cocaine wife studying Mussalini in the corner yeah he was studying studying for like an Oscar picture or something yeah. That's kind of put into everything you did. An awesome tracks was your favorite scene in the movie all right. It's not going to lie my favorite scene. Forget their names already but the two mercy not Mersad Mersad con artists where they were found out by the kind of first villain that we'd need help the yes ago sorry so that was probably my favorite team because it Kinda starts out a bit comical they get kidnapped or like almost prison but then they get shot at with their own weapons which are <hes>. It's like slapstick like Jackie Chan movie gets into like a mild by team and they actually get serious they go into into that kind of cage fight scene which like it was almost serious but not quite to that point that of course at the very end John Claude van don comes smashing Ashington with a tank. It's like it's the biggest blue balls where they build it up so much thank him A._B._C.. Come crashing through the end of that scene moving on. I love that so much how they played it out because it was a little bit serious little bit funny very serious than just comical comical and I thought it was actually laid out perfect yeah yeah like I said. The only bad part of this movie I think is wrong Claude van Damme yeah. What do you find him? The worst part of the movie gets. I don't think the dam is a good actor and people there's there's just <unk> our source exactly yes. There's a there's a there's a Colt appreciation for John. Claude van Damme and I get it believe me I get it but like Arnold Schwarzenegger just did everything he did better while not on cocaine and it was like people like jotted <unk> there are one hundred actors like Jean Claude Van Damme that are better actors like they might not be as good fighters but they can express and I don't think John Claude van Damme can like express emotion very well especially not on coke by the way not and people. It's all of his lines eighty yard in as well. It was weird fun fact about John Claude Van Damme. Most people don't know is that when he was training to become a martial artist he actually trained under Chuck Norris Chuck Norris basically used him as a body bag. He literally got his ass beat every day. That's but never talked about him. In the Predator he was the original the Predator yes lord they has the iconic <hes> cost him that is the Predator error is defined character for many years originally. It was like a weird lobster creature basis yeah. It was a giant Lake Pink. Praying ain't Mantis in a suit before they're like yeah. That's all very intimidated. All let's get do redesign in a broad John Van Damme he was the personnel is inside the suit the whole time he never ended up in the movie and he ended up in a star sort of but originally started it off as the Predator but not actually cool prayer that we all know him love well. He dropped out specifically because he wasn't going to be seen in the movie. I'm not going to do this because my my face isn't going to be on it which that's fair for like if you're if you want to be like a serious acting like if you want your name out there that's fair but also fun to my guess. Somebody's paying you. Someone's paying you like your name on there. I was that guy but I believe it's even funnier to me that like like I. I wish she would have done it because his biggest competition back then was Arnold Schwarzenegger and so the movie would have been like ninety percent Arnold Schwarzenegger's space and ten percent unable to see Sean Claude. Van Damme States really funny. That's why they didn't do it. I know he was really upset about it or maybe he ran out of cocaine now so he's I. I don't really I when I remember a kid. I remember liking him as an actor thought his movies are cool now that adult I know I know there's like hard target and <hes> universal soldiers. They have like a lot of love behind him time cop time come up yeah and it's just like sport. I think right to sports a big one like I said I get it. I This movie you've been better or worse or the same Arnold Schwarzenegger was one hundred times about yeah. I agree with that too especially since he's supposed to be played the ultra American Belgian her to that he you know what he's I think he is more American because he was the command or commando he was in Predator like I believe on the Niger as ridiculous American trooper. I don't believe ridiculous American trooper sure and he's also governor of a state in the United States. Hey Austin let me ask you a hypothetical question or ask you and Travis <hes> would you guys have preferred word John Claude van Damme guile or Steven Seagal. ooh Oh God they're the worst though hold on hold on which aired like so this is we're talking specifically nineteen eighties ago yeah for me even back then he was so fat and Lazy Easy now like loves the Russians he was in those battleship movie things I'd say vanity still because these stories of him do cocaine and a cheat on his wife. All is not really that much better of a fighter or an actor Sir my opinion and I think at that point they were still on the same level of stardom so honestly I'll just say would be the M. Honestly I guess are you guys Pants A._M.. Was At least like a really good fighter and I know people are going to be like Oh. Stephen sagoes apply he's not he's a shit fighter. If you've ever watched any like legitimate tournament that Steven seagal still does for some reason it's all totally scripted where he's like is like I and like barely moving and guys are just flipping over ridiculously. It's all scripted crap trying to think like around this time he was doing under siege thing which I want to say is the the with Tommy Lee Jones in like they're really stupid line..

"Did you see not so much his acting ability as man he's such a pack, but that's part of the charm is about of an actor Amy? I watched the first John Whitney out the first time the other day, and then we're gonna watch a second one, so we can go see the third one in theaters. But we were commenting on how just how terrible actor is. But it's almost kind of like there's almost a charm to him being bad. Well, the great thing about it is he's figured out. First of all, if you his acting ability is poor is just isn't very good. But his commitment to his craft is. Is almost unmatched. I mean, if you wanna know what he did just to the John wick movie. He only did it because he liked the director. It was a it was not going to be. It was not expected to be a huge Hollywood hit or anything like that. It was a very low budget film. He wanted to work with the director so guy who's worth one hundred million dollars or whatever is worth now. Well, a lot more. Now the John wicks out, but where the hundred million dollars didn't have to do anything. He didn't wanna do. He decides to do a low budget film with a relatively unknown director, spins six months, train as a fifty year old man like almost fifty year old man training, six to ten hours, a day in a Kito jujitsu, martial arts and, and gun handling skills in order to make performance flawless hasn't been in the military. If you haven't ever done that kind of work watching how he moves and how he handles the weapons. It's just that may. The whole movie for me. It really did it. That's the reason. I think John wick, the first one is one of the best movies ever, but his commitment to his craft is, is, is unmatched in my opinion. But yeah he's found the perfect niche. So in John wick, what does he have like a hundred words in the whole movie? It's just little short phrases. It's like I'll be seeing you at just little stuff like that. And so he's found niche where he can create blockbuster movies. He focuses on the things that he can dominate, and he works his tail off, and he keeps getting offers and got a similar to Arnold in one sense because Arnold is that way to are just isn't that great of an actor. But you but there's, there's a charm to him because of the way he embodies his roles and see the thing about see the thing about that was, you had a period in the in the late eighties early nineties, where it was all. All action movies. You didn't need a script like you didn't have to make sense. They just wanted to St. stuff blow up and see the body count. John Claude van Damme. John Claude van Damme was another one C at him and Stallone all those guys really got into the action movie business, and then who's a Wesley Snipes, and these guys all kind of became famous off the heels guys, like Chuck Norris,.

"Now. I'm worried about the forming my fingers can we look that up too? Because I always heard that was the thing. Also, I heard I think I saw this at a John Claude van Damme movie that if you just like punch bunch of rocks. Like softly, don't just just softly the way that I'm pounding. You know, very softly on a table. If you do that with rocks for like ten minutes a day, you're going to have the hardest knuckles in the world. And you can knock anybody out if you just Ford your knuckles with rocks. But why would you want to? But I I didn't learn that from a doctor I saw that in a movie, I've always wanted to be able to do the karate thing where you like with your elbow you like break up on like, cinder blocks or do it with your head a badass? Is that right? It's are those is that real like magic in like what's going on there keys just break in the first one because then the way to the first one breaks all the other ones. It looks a lot more impressive. If you owe broke twelve cinderblocks, right? But if you really just got to break the one. Yeah, how works like have you ever? Let me ask you a question when someone breaks all those cinderblocks have you ever seen the Cajun? I've seen it fail a couple of times. But have you ever seen it just go like three cinderblocks? Right. And there's there. All right. It's just I've always just one of those things I've always wished I could do. Do it. Go do it. It seems hard. You can hurt my hand you can achieve all things. I paint painful, I've broken aboard that was on fire before with my poem. Why I was in karate, and that's big implicit Garate Well melts. melts You you get get up. up to block built really were not a black. Like that is not true. No, you're not like an orange. Maybe you're not a black. Maybe just so early on. Yeah. Exactly. Not a black belt. I was a black belt. It was just a black belt when I was thirteen years old, and I stopped. I mean, I have a black belt on right now. But what what I took compo- Campo tempo. Karate? I mean, it's not like I'm a whoop your ass right now. Like, I forgot all that stuff. Campo is the least sexy. I think it's mostly blocking. But like a thing they do for like exercises now. Right. Do they? Yeah. You can do Campo class. It's not really high pay. It's not really a fast paced thing Campo is very kind of plotting. Yeah. It was a black belt in Campo. I was in karate since I was three years old. I graduate of taking ten years to get a black belt is that normal. No. I don't think. So I just like went in went out. So you're going to school, and they were just lighting things on fire for kids to punch through. Yeah. It was like because I was on something. Called the swat team which was like the elite elite, and we do like performances, you could hire us in like, we'd go to movie theaters whenever there was a Jackie Chan movie opening and we'd do performances and part of the performance the big crescendo would be breaking boards, and I would break one that was on fire. I did two classes, and then I quit. Just generally the just of like karate when I was young. I was like for day. I was like let's do this. It'd be really weird. We started doing karate like right now, we that'd be cool to have someone come in..

"Baking since nineteen sixty seven one of the biggest challenges he's faced low carb. Doe requests during the height of the Atkins diet craze. Dr. That's a nickname right there. How about this plenty of famous people got their start making a making and delivering pizzas Stephen Baldwin and Bill Murray. Both worked at pizza restaurants. Bill Murray would that had to be here. Right. Yeah. You'd imagine. Do we know where Bill Murray work does anybody know what pizza place Bill Murray worked? So yeah, they'd had to be here in town. And John Claude van Damme used deliver pizza. Hey, can I just say? Whoever came up with the idea. To have JEAN CLAUDE van Damme in these tostitos commercials. Should be given a promotion and a raise. 'cause those commercials are awesome. John called like the la- somebody in a meeting going. We need we need a spokesperson for tostitos. And some dude just goes about John Claude van Damme. No, man. Are you an idiot? Why because he's John Claude van Damme. I wonder if he delivered the pizzas doing the splits. Did you know that do, you know, the story of how John Claude van Damme got his first movie? Now, he he he walked into Golden Globes. His office, of course, going Globus cannon films. Responsible for some of the worst movies of all time be movies and action movies and horror, movies and stuff. The you know, if you saw the canon logo, but for a while, though, they were doing some interesting stuff there are actually distributing foreign movies and doing some anyway. So van Damme comes in, and he you know, he comes into the into. I don't know if it was Menachem Golan's officer a Representative or something he comes in. He walks in. He's got a bag with him. You know, and and he sits down, and he says, I think you should make movie with me. And like really, you think you think? Yeah. He goes he has you should make a movie with me. Jean CLAUDE van Damme. And so they're like why he's as well because of this. So it takes two chairs. Okay. And he separates them. And then he puts one leg on one chair one leg on the chair. And then he does the splits in bounces up and down between the chairs doing the splits. And then he takes a brick out of the bag brought in and smashes it over his head. And he got a contract. They were like, okay, we'll do bloodsport and then bloodsport turn out to be one of the greatest movies ever made. But that's how van Damme. God it maybe he went into the office of toast Tito's. And when you should make a commercial with me Zhong Vandamme why because of this and then he did the splits while eating tostitos. That's probably that's what I picture. That's how I picture the that's how I like to think it happened. The only pizza themed superhero movie to date is called pizza, man. It was released in two thousand eleven film stars Frankie Muniz as a pizza delivery guy who acquires superpowers from eating genetically modified tomato. Dan. Can you look up pizza man on the IMDB who else is in that? Besides Frankie Muniz like directed. It. The pizza delivery guy gets superpowers from eating genetically modified tomato. That sounds like must see. That's streaming on Netflix. Looks like diamond Dallas paid all God Dallas page. All right. Shelley long of man. Oh, man. Corbin Bernsen, Michael gross. Are you kidding me? Wow. We have a director director of is Joe Eckhart. No don't know. Well, there you go pizza man all star cast right there. Is the is the poster art ridiculous? It it is like a city skyline and he's towering above it. Standing out of what appears to be building made out of pizza boxes. Okay. Well, there you go everybody. It's the only pizza themed superhero movie tagline, he's taking a slice out of crime. He's saying a slice out of crime. That's really good. All right. Pizza played a role in helping police catch an alleged serial killer known as the grim sleeper in two thousand ten went undercover. Officer took a DNA sample from a slice of pizza. The killer had been snacking on at a family birthday party. Wow. All right. Pizza has also helped prevent several crimes in two thousand eight. When a pizza deliveryman in Florida was confronted by robbers. He threw the hot pizza. He was delivering at them. And then escaped harm. In two thousand and one Pizza Hut. Delivered a six inch salami pizza to the international space station. The first pizza delivered space. Six inch who the hell's that gonna feed? What did you not care about the people at the international space station? Do you want them to be in space and hungry? Six inch. That's not gonna feed anybody. And it's a salami pizza. You couldn't even get pepperoni. And then a little over a decade later in two thousand thirteen a group of NASA funded scientists invented a three D printer that could cook pizza and just seventy seconds. Literally spraying on flavor, smell and micro nutrients. Oh that sounds tasty. That sounds real appetizing. But at least it's bigger than six inches. Well, that's going to end up on the show next week. The US military lab recently, invented a ready to eat pizza that can last for up to three years. The pizzas intended for soldiers abroad who are creating a slice and presumably for anyone prepping for the zombie apocalypse, hold on a minute. Wait. Now our? Our?.

Exactly Karl Anthony towns having a hyphenated first name, and how rare that is just in the world in general, it's hyphenated last name happened. But like the man the man has a hyphenated first name, and I feel like we as a society don't talk about that enough. I don't know much. Just like who else? Do you know there's John Claude van Damme, and like that's pretty much all I can think of off the top of my head the only other person Mary Kate Olsen. Yeah. Mary Kate Olsen. That's a pretty good one cow. They go. That's right out of my ass. Yeah. Yeah. That was good. So was watching parent trap on the weekends. No. That's the that's the other one talk about whatever you're gonna talk about. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna affect you talk about. Go check go. Check out your hyphenated names. Fall guy the week for me. And this is sometimes. Yes. Of course, the Olson family the top dogs. They thought of everything fall guy the week, Dan Hurley, I don't know if you saw this or anyone else saw this. But someone tweeted this at me, and then it made me go look back at this game. But SMU played the Yukon huskies, Dan Hurley's huskies. And Dan Hurley wants his team to take charges and way to prove that in to show that to a team to take charge of on. But like by himself, basically, he Tyler Polly of SMU falls out of bounds. Dan, Hurley gets in the way of him takes the charge to the chest goes down makes the assistant coaches pick him up as if he is a player, and then a lot of Asia at the time at the time. No one really knew like if that's exactly what he was doing. But it was kind of like did he just try to take charge? And then after the game he brought it up himself to say that he had to take a charge show his team what he was like if I'm willing to take charge. They gotta be willing to take charge. So Dan Hurley again continues to insert himself into the actual play of the game. And we're we're about I'd say about three months away right around like nine and three months ago because we're already January. But by the time we get around conference play. He's gonna do Jason Kidd. I situation you know, what I mean where he gets a player to bump into him gets is on the floor hit Dan Hurley will do whatever it takes a win these basketball games for Yukon think if you're Yukon appreciate it, but boys at a lot. It's a lot. I mean, either man's taking charges off real players in the game. Getting in the way while wearing dress shoes and assu. So all guy the week. I just thought. Tumbling. Is. I mean, how many more years of this like how so say you Congo's twenty one and twelve this year that that might be that might be. I mean, what are they they're ten and seven right now. Yeah. That might be a little what would you what's going on over there? All right. I'm sorry. I thought Mike was down watching the replays. Just laughing at dinner. "Next category. The Jason Tatum school for rehabilitation. Like, I do I do like this. We we were talking about in the fears before this podcast started matter of fact, but quick recap and furious seven Jason Tatum as a villain. He kills one of the members of the fast and furious crew. He does he spends a whole rest of the trying to kill everybody on good ole Han, and then fate of the furious part eight by the end of the movie, he's not only part of the crew. But also like everybody loves him. And we're all friends part of the family can that happen with Chongli. Can he get along with with Frank deuce? Can he be rehabilitated? Now. One thing we didn't really get to the Monterey was his sort of long view reaction. There wasn't a dukes. You beat me fair and square kind of thing. There wasn't the Johnny Lawrence. You out. Parking lot wasn't like a post game ceremony. So we don't really know how reacts to absolutely could they could have gone and trained together could have been like a rocky creed them. They could have become the best of friends. He could have joined the army with with Frank dukes army with accent. And he'd be rebuilt. So I looked at this. And I tried to figure out a way, and I couldn't get there because like in today's movie universe. We can always have a team or even yesterday's movie universe. Like, you said, it could be an Apollo thing. Where all of a sudden those two guys become buddies and politics two Kelly to train him. So we can go be cluber line. Didn't see anything in this movie. And perhaps that was because of the lack of dialect. We already talked all of backstory of who he was the very very beginning. I believe is he South Korean look like he had a Korean flag on. Yeah. But so very that's like the only Baxter got he came from somewhere shows came from somewhere that he had to leave the day before he left. We knew we had to leave. Up. And then he's there to murder people. I couldn't get there especially because one we're when we're introduced to him as the primary villain for rage. Accent tells us a story about the previous Kuma matai where he kicked a guy in the throat and watched him die. And I was like that might be beyond rehabilitation. Okay. Okay. Let me let me ask you a question. Then if you kick a guy in the throat. What else are you going to do? Besides watch him die though, like water what he's not a doctor and was maybe. He can't help him. I don't know. What else you do after you kick a guy in the throat like that's what you're supposed to in the ER reboot. I want to. Yeah. Is that the so is at the moment of like the point of no return for you like there's nothing I can do I looked. So I think in every and all of these movies with the Johnny Lawrence example, that you were talking about there are moments where you go. I don't know. Maybe like there's a softer side, and he'd been with Allie and all this stuff. Like, there could be a part where you go. I could see some sort of redemption for him in some way, there's nothing in this movie that suggests that he's redeemable like if there was one moment that wasn't just him being a murderous killing karate machine fighting machine. I'd be like there's one moment. They're like where he said something or did something even gave a look, but even with this is is I say murder when I was doing other research stuff and trying to find old articles new articles old videos, new, videos, whatever I found the one where John Claude van Damme and Chongli meet up again like recently in the last three or four years or something like that there had arrest. Iran. I think it's a birthday party for John Claude van Damme and bolo young walks in. And he still looks exactly the same. I fall, but he even in the video when I saw him there was like visceral like oh shit there. It's about to go down right now that always still I was still afraid. I was I was expecting like blitz for two is about to happen. And they they made they made a few jokes or we're going gonna do buzzword to whatever..

"But my feet my favorites our favorite, I know that Dan is they're both right color for you maniac. The the right thing, though, the Trump story that you're talking that is him watching blood sport on an airplane and making it son fast-forward between scenes where we're basically anything where someone's talking. But then like when you see bolo young show up. He's like stop at Eric. And then like, and then they watched the fight scene. There's a good bit in there where? Think about how much the gravitas that movie. He missed out like this even know that John Claude van Damme was fighting for his brother, probably doesn't he probably just thinks that it's like a blood. This is their sport blood is their sport. That's how they do it their competitors their animals, and they wanna make it soft. They wanna win they want, and that's an so maybe in some ways. Yeah. That is. I think he sees himself is kind of a Frank ducks type. Think that's the name the character. But yeah, that that to me is like the idea of him watching game of thrones fast, forwarding, only like beheadings, and like orgies would be extremely on brand for him. I think that's a good place to stop. Let's let's make orgies the third the last word of the show, Dan, thanks for joining us. Here's here's an alternate. Take the credits as performed by Dan mcquaid.
