A Response to 'Are You Retired, or Do You Work?'

"I want to be one of those seniors who's had a relatively easy time. Now, that doesn't always happen. As I found out with my hernia surgery and my hip replacement and my COVID and I guess COVID is an age related. Yesterday I was kind of curious about this condo building that's being built in St. Petersburg. And it's being spearheaded by John catsimatidis in New York, who's the really amazing businessman. He owns the supermarket chain. And he bought WABC radio. Prior to buying WABC radio, he worked a lot with the station we're on in New York. I am 9 70. The answer. I went over to check out their building this the biggest building on the West Coast of Florida. It's going to be like, I think 60 stories tall. And I was just kind of curious. I've never, I would never buy a condo sight unseen. I mean, they do this slick sales pitch where they beautiful artist renderings and everything and the model. I'm thinking, you know, the guy and the guy was good. And he asked me not knowing what I do for a living. Are you retired? Or do you work? I almost broke out in tears. I almost started crying. I was like, who the heck are you? What do you mean am I retired? Do I look like I'm retired, kid? Is about this 30 something year old guy? Are you retired or do you work, mister Gallagher? No, I work, pal. And I'll be working long after you're gone. 'cause I get cats and Matias to fire your butt because you're asking people they're old.

"John Catsimatidis Cats at night show. I'm Lydia Surana here with John Catsimatidis. Former Congressman Peter King, as well as former chief of staff businessman proud Dad of a girl going to Georgetown. Young lady. Excuse me, Tony Carbonetti, and we are still awaiting to hear back from John Miller, Deputy Commissioner on terrorism here in New York City. And Tony. We were talking about this before. That the Taliban spokesperson has specifically said that he does not want Afghanis to leave. He says Get out of here. Americans. I could care less if you guys leave. And don't let the door hit you with the good Lord split your claim. They're worried. Yeah, they claim they're worried about a brain drain. When probably they're really just worried that a lot of people that helped us and their families all right, you know, they want to keep them there. And then Richard them retaliation. Yes, right now we have at least 10,000 people basically being held hostage. And there's right now There's a lot of good work being done by a lot of people here in the United States, a lot of people in the Middle East to get the people out that helped us. We cannot leave those people behind. They risked everything to help us. And that's the American way and on the line with us right now is a John Miller, the deputy commissioner on terrorism for the NYPD. Welcome John Miller. Welcome. Well, thanks for having me. It's been a while. It's been a while. So the main concern we have here, especially in New York City. Now, with everything going on in Afghanistan, do we need to worry now about terrorist threats going up here in New York City? Well, we never stop worrying, which is key in New York City lives on a permanent state of high alert. Um, are High alert just goes from high to hire that really has never changed in the post 9 11 world And I say that in this context Since 9 11. We've had 50 different clocks, uh, either targeting New York City or emanating from New York City, either people targeting terrorist attacks here or trying to join Terrorist organizations from here and travel overseas. Uh, so you know, this is a daily concern for us. Your question is, what are long game concern as we see Afghanistan fall back into the hands of the Taliban, and that's something We're literally going to have to watch unfold, but The good part is whether you're talking about the United States of America or New York City. We have built much more sophisticated machinery and apparatus to counter terrorism. Then we had on September 10th 2000 and one John. This is Pete King. I would think that you know the long term threats are definitely there in the short term. Are you worried about that victory of the Taliban? Incentivizing Lone wolfs in this country? Uh, you know, start up groups. To carry out the random attack, not the mess, coordinated attack, but just the the local psychos, the local lone wolves, the local wannabes. So, uh, Congressman you pose a very interesting question, Which is if you get to where our attacks have been, You know, I talked about that number 50 if you started if if you take that 50 And you go forward from 9 11. You can see Al Qaeda steady, steady plots trying to do a major attack. Then you see the introduction of Isis and then you what you learn there is within the past five years. Half of the 50 attacks occur in the in the past five years instead of over the 20 years and with the emergence of Isis and taking The whole recruiting process online very much as you point out. Um, I think that the hazard here is in this new era. Always the recruitment of the lone wolf or the loan. You know the pair of loan roles. That's not a contradiction in terms. Through the through the use of very effective online propaganda. Let me just say, By the way, it goes for the terrorist groups that goes for the right wing extremist. It goes for the left wing extremists. Everybody's adapted Adopted that model, John, I don't want to miss the opportunity to again. Thank you with the NYPD. Unless you've been in Washington. Look at it overhead. You have no idea how more advanced NYPD has been. Compared to the rest of the country and go through all the numbers. But there are probably more police officers focused on Canada. Terrorism, New York, Maybe all the police department in the country put together and so I want to thank you and, uh, going back to think, Mr Bratton all the commissioners who had just done a great job, and I wanna thank you for it. Despite the criticism, the slings and arrows you've taken over the years from some of the Misguided civil libertarians. Well, I appreciate it and you know, it's been a great partnership between the NYPD, the FBI and the joint Terrorism Task Force and all the agencies that come with that that we couldn't have done all this without. Well, tell us what's going on. Right now. You're still in charge of fact, counter terrorism and terrorism, etcetera, etcetera, Uh, M s 13. The rumor is that coming through the borders And that being we located by our government through various charity groups. Does that mean that National and Suffolk County and online it is going to get M s 13 all over again. Well, I think Nassau and Suffolk County, particularly the police departments, the district attorney's office, Um, Homeland security investigations have done extraordinarily effective work in targeting those gangs. But I know from my experience in the LAPD and the NYPD working with our colleagues in Nassau and Suffolk, that You know, we see people who get deported after felony criminal convictions. Or or or before that who are sent back, and then they turned up back in the United States, either under that same name or under a different name. So you know, we still have an issue with with people being able to beat the system use human smugglers. And travel. The other thing is, we have lots of reports. The BBC have lots of reports and I'm sure you have the same reports airplanes coming into Westchester Airport with migrants. And being taken away by bus is who are these people? So I haven't seen those reports. Um and you know, 40% of what we do. Every day is strictly counterterrorism. Six deeper, and what we do is criminal. But very little of what we do in the NYPD has much to do with immigration or immigration status. No, I'm not. I'm not worried about immigration. I'm not worried about that. I believe in immigration. But I'm talking about terrorists sneaking in as migrants. So we keep a very, very close partnership with our federal partners, particularly with uh with ice immigrations and immigration and customs informants. About call border entries and anybody who takes on the terrorist watch list. Anybody who's biometric ticks on the terrorist watch lists. And I think you know that's something that we go in and do joint interviews and everything else. That's something we we pay close attention to from New York City all the way to Boston. So if that was, if that was a major concern, it would have gotten to my desk. John not to raise the sensitive issue. How is the cooperation between Ice and the city of New York, particularly the N Y P D. Well, it's very good cooperation on terrorist matters on people that need to be looked at coming in, or people that need to be looked at going out. Um, that's something we've been doing for years. Again the circle back to that other point, and we're you know, we're delving into that area is Were the NYPD were in a very diverse city in the city where immigrants um no matter what their status have been a vital part of this city. And as a police department. We need to be accessible to all the people of New York City, no matter what their status, especially if they're in trouble or the victim of a crime or the witness to a crime or need medical help. So, uh, Or immigration status issues unless involves a serious crime. We don't have a lot of play there. There's agencies who do that as their daily job. And you know, uh, we worked with them on Terrorism matters in criminal matters, but not status matter again. We are speaking with a deputy commissioner on terrorism. A John Miller for the NYPD and Tony Carbonetti. You had a question. John Tony Carbonetti, how you have one last question. How are we affected by removing our troops also removes our CIA intelligence agents from Afghanistan and like you said, what? What you've done and the NYPD has done in coordination with the FBI and the CIA to stop terrorist acts here in the United States. How is this going to hurt us that we're not going to have the intel from in country? It's going to make a collection more difficult than it is when you have You know, infrastructure on the ground and a lot of people on the ground, But I got to remind us, you know, there's the good news and there's the bad news. The good news is We have a vastly more sophisticated and I know keep King knows this better than almost anybody because of the committee's he sat on in the briefings has gotten but a vastly more sophisticated intelligence collection apparatus than we had. Before 9 11, but we also have A vast array of very close partners Countries you would expect we'd work with their close allies in countries you'd never expect we work with, um, that we still that we still work with on terrorism, even though we don't get along on other things, so We're in a place where we have, uh, electronic collection, technical collection drones air cover the ability to operate from aircraft carriers and target almost anything..

"Gatien's were that dimension which is one of these companies that processes the voting in a lot of states a lot of states not just pennsylvania that was an algorithm built in and the reason for delays was. It was just the do counting was delayed to find out how many votes they were should. And i understand. the The allegation is that sukkot bird Donated two hundred and fifty million dollars and technology to be able to change those algorithms and create the votes. Now that sounds a little crazy. But this is twenty twenty. I mean we went through a lot of crazy things in twenty twenty. And all i'm saying is let's go through the. Let's go through the process. Listen to both sides that way by december fourteen. Everybody is satisfied one way or not. What's wrong with that. We waited till december for for for dough waited for december for al gore and joe biden is president. I we didn't. We are not gonna put him through the same thing they put donald trump. They had a switch six thousand votes from democrat to republican. And that we find out. It wasn't just that one county that this dominion software is. It's an all the counties in michigan and other states as you point out missed to catch at td's and of course a lot of people have been saying that There's a lot more evidence of voter fraud and the twenty twenty election than there ever was in russia collusion yet. The same media folks. That designated joe biden. The president elect on saturday completely. Ignored that evidence. I mean so. They have no credibility in calling this Of election for biden on saturday so prematurely and fox and msnbc and twitter should not have the right to call the election. The election is done by the electoral college. Give give it time. I understand. From sydney powell. There might be four hundred fifty thousand votes involved. That is a big number. Let's let's give it to processing whatever it is is Either way john In the end let's give it the process give it till december let trump and rudy and the west of these fine folks. It's just we need everyone pulling in the same direction and we want to be the safest city. We also want to be fair to everyone and give people opportunities like they've never had before. But if we're going to be honest about this, I think you gotta have some open discussions, too, about some of these things that have Come up this year. We could do everything I just said, But we gotta have heart discussions about this defunding the police. It is a recipe for disaster will come out that really need to be need to be changed and need to be Reminded about what's important and victims are important. And let's strike that right balance between being fair to the accused. But not throwing out the rights of the victims as well. And the current formula has been upset, somewhat, John and when you look at where we are now, I mean, we went from the lowest all time shooting and homicide rates in New York City. To a 91% increase in shootings as we sit here today, clearly that's not what anyone wants we want. We want to be talking about people fleeing to New York City. Not not the reverse, So I think that you know, calmer heads need to be prevailing. People need to get out there and have its okay to have a discourse in a discussion about what you like or don't like about the police, but let's do it civilly. Let's do it with the From the mindset of getting to a safer New York where it's we can all move forward together, and I don't think that's Impossible by any stretch. I think it's very achievable. But we need to be in the same room talking rather than shouting about Commissioner we with you, 110%. That common sense has to prevail on I've said this many times. I don't care if you're Democrats. I don't care if you're Republicans. I don't care if your independence common sense is the right word. And we have to decide, I guess on November 4th which way our country is going. And Joe Biden is a good friend of mine, Donald Trump. I know for 35 years he was on the police athletically board. With us, and it's common sense. I mean and Joe of Joe Biden, who I can call Joe, because I know that long. Is has to be able to stand up. And say to some of the crazies and I mentioned the word crazies. That common sense has to prevail. You can't we can't just change our history. We can knock down our statues because some people 100 people might not like them. And I am scared away off for for city on loved and and I've said that I know Bill DiBlasio for 25 years, and he's a very smart guy. And ah, in I have tried, You know, I text him once in a while and on and I say to him, Look, you know I love our city, and we have to Again, Common sense has to prevail in them. And you know when people try to, Ah, say, well commissions for I said, no way. It's not the commissioners for and the commissioner Eri is appointed by the mayor and the mayor is actually the chief law enforcement officer in the permission it has to do. What the mayor says. Andi apologize for going on like that. But that's the way I feel commission now. Well, there's there's certainly a lot of challenges Jon and just try to stay out of the politics. But I do, too. In a couple weeks, there's going to be election and somebody's gonna win and somebody's gonna lose. But here is what I would say. We still have probably many of the same problems no matter who wins or loses. We still got to deal with the crime. We still got to deal with polling people up. Giving them opportunities jobs homeless. Service is all of it. So no matter who wins or loses the bottom line is you've been with the police department. How many years there? I'm coming up on 30 years. That's a long time, 30 years and you've dedicated your life to the NYPD. And you've dedicated your life to the men. You work with every day? Yeah, well, absolutely And and it's been an honor and a privilege and I'll tell you I worked with the best people in the world. So it's it's been a fantastic ride. And it's been a privilege. Just this. Just this week. We've got out to Staten Island and we were talking a community members and That's that's one of things. I think that lost..

"You have to live be a million years old to make a trip to do a hundred wage. In million dollars. So what they're doing is they're taking they're being racist Dante how they are taking advantage of people that that don't know and don't have a college education or don't have a accounting an accounting background that don't know the law and so they are taking advantage of those people and that's a sort of racism. Let's take advantage of the people and not educate. Well, mr. Cassim and T's the biggest shoe coming up. I know you're talking about the tax free today, but the big issue coming up is the debate tomorrow night in my assessment. The presidential debate we're going into presidents Trump's strong suit, if you wish he is good when when the entire country is watching and all eyes are on him. What are you expecting to see? What do you think you're going to see in terms of wage? If it's my contention that if Biden has a major Gap, it can be a big problem for the Democrats. What do you think about tomorrow night's debate, either that or they'll think that you've taken off of an older gentleman, but Trump is although almost as old as him, you know, and you gotta understand set be prompt has scored 17 knockout punches wage. So, you know Trump is good and debate and you know what I say to all my friends I say to them look if you if you want to vote a personality. Some places if you want to vote on performance holding off the Chinese holding off the the Russians holding off the the Iraq because he's good at that and and if I was in a foxhole, I rather be in the Foxhole with Donald Trump and let me tell you something I know but thirty-five forty years and it's not that he has a you know, he's got his own sort of Personality that a lot of people don't like but he's a good job for the country. Well said John catsimatidis on the Bernie and Sid show with Dominic Carter John catsimatidis the Democrats like the season obsess over the correct virus to China virus is the president calls it now they predicted that we were going to have two three million people dead. We have about two hundred thousand said tragic but not two to three million. They predicted we were going to be dead. Depression hardly, we might not even be in a recession unemployment was supposed to be 25% Well, it's what is it 8.4% right now or something like that. I mean it's because the presidential Masters great economy in 3 and 1/2 years that we were able to whether these the excessive lockdowns that were still experiencing right now. It was because of what he did that were getting through this page and not to mention the all the, you know, garnering a business Coalition of business people to build ventilators BP's and now a vaccine all these things. He's even Iraq Iran that yet, they distort his accomplishments there and he's done a great job in business bring back companies to the United States that left company that left our country under previous administrations building companies getting he has done more for the minority communities more FAQ. Black communities more for the Asian communities more put Hispanic and Latino communities than any other president was the lowest unemployment was the best economy going into the wage crisis that we had and the economy will be even better. If we New York City New York State open up New York City represents 9% of the country's in Chrome to me and we'll close..

I should say actually but his name is John catsimatidis and he joins us now. Good morning to you. John catsimatidis the morning today. It's the Bernie and Dominic Show. It is Bernie and Sid with Dominic Carter sitting in for Sid. Rosenberg was taken off for this solemn day of atonement called Yom, Kippur and good morning. I hope I hope this is praying for all of us cuz we found me in a prayer. Hahaha. So true Mister katzmann Sadie's the latest news now look you like. Mr. Trump. You're very successful. Businessman. You pull yourself up by your bootstraps. Yep. Basically and well, I don't think you're ashamed to say that you're a billionaire multi-billionaire. And now the news yes, go ahead sir Bradley. I want to tell our listeners the truth wage Because by the headlines that the New York Times has the Daily News has there being racist, you know, how how but not analyze the truth of how the tax system works and you gotta remember something the tax system was made by the Congress and wage congressperson every Senator, you know voted for that type system and you have to also remember something every Congressman wage almost and every Senator almost wallet. I will multi-millionaires, even if they went into Congress when they were brought out right is the truth. In other words. He did nothing illegal. I guess should point. I'll tell you I will tell you what I do on my taxes. I I have a big five accounting firm that goes in does all the taxes according to law after the accounting firms signs that this is correct. Then I signed it afterwards and I am sure Donald Trump does the same thing now, where do these losses come from? On the top floor. Let's say you're built a building for three hundred million dollars, right? You know, no matter what your income is. You can depreciate than a hundred million over thirty years or whatever. The number is something like that and that's ten million dollars a year. So you get a deduction of ten million dollars a year for the next three years for building that 300 million dollar building. That is the tax law. Right and people have to understand that Donald Trump didn't seem like the tax law. He just talked to wash with it all these people that are criticizing him other ones and wrote the tax law. He'd be a whole nother he'd be a fool not to take advantage of the tax breaks that he gets what do you want me to tell my accounts? I want to voluntarily pay an extra million dollars, I.

And last night just give you an update, and you can actually see the updates. If you go to the Kurdish and Juliet Facebook page, I went out to clean up their poop with hot water from a tea kettle. And after making a few different pouring solution up the flotsam and jetsam. I fell down the stairs to the basement apartment and knocked around some bones that rattled in me that I haven't felt those aches and pains in a long, long time. So, look, there was no Ben Gay bath too much stink and there was no pain Killers said I raided the axes that I've squirreled away for a day. I might need it. No, no, no, no, I'm not going through that Michigan. In fact, I just told Nancy, we gotta We gotta move up our appointment that we have to Trinity rehab. We go there for a physical. We haven't so should you. Even though we schlep across the CI W Bridge from New York and Trinity. We have absented soul over New Jersey just opening in each window and promised to make it even easier for you to get there. The reason we go there is because they have state of the art rehab. They have what most don't peep at machine. It's FDA approved non surgical acoustic pressure wave technology. It's similar to what used to break up a kidney stones. It breaks up scar tissue, enhances healing and gets rid of painting Rapido. It's effective for conditions like back on neck pain. "A. B. C. now here's John Catsimatidis background cables contact here in the morning he what thank you bye do you believe in Berlin by three witnesses morning is the country's leading economists adviser to the president of the United States we got even more good morning Steven how are you I'm John I'm very well thanks so much well then I might try to use roller coaster what's going on well I'm not gonna be good last week the market got a little bit ahead of itself but I don't think there's any question about it you know that thou got to about five or six percent of its all time high and the nasdaq actually went to which all time high of work and I I just think that that there was a little bit of a rational exuberance last week and so there's a bit of a collection this week I also think that the there was a a bit of a scare with respect to whether or not the corona virus was coming back I believe that was greatly exaggerated John I think the Wall Street journal had a great piece on Friday saying wait a minute the numbers just aren't there but the media is running a huge scare campaign on corona virus so I think that because the bit of a selloff what what we're in right now John is in the recovery stage well but it's Daddy and and that's the way it will be throughout the summer it's gonna take awhile for this economy needs to get back on its feet can't take calls while for these businesses to get customers in the door so we have to be patient here we did a lot of damage in March and April and may the good news is recession this case is over and the recovery cases here but some things will get better but at a slow pace what industries do you think will be the slowest to recover wow that's a good question I do think you're gonna see a top times for the airline industry for example it's gonna be a while before people get on planes I took a flight last week there were about ten or twelve people on the whole flight and that's pretty typical now you know that most you get thirty thirty five people on a flight were used out modern fifty people on these flights so I think that's gonna be a tough one the real challenge of course is there with the retail sector because the people will people go back to stores will they feel comfortable about it I gotta tell you John and Julian people out and about not here in New York I'm in the Washington DC area but you just see people getting out for the outdoors they're going to stores I went to a restaurant the other night it was packed people are social distancing bodyguard people are starting to put their told back in the water and going out so that's gonna be a problem because some of the oil producers restaurants and bars because they're only operating at about forty or fifty percent capacity because they have to remove a lot of the tables for social distancing purposes but you know the technology sector is doing amazingly well is that not your nasdaq here an all time high it's still even went to some of the follow up this week it's still incredibly high these major technology companies are doing great but also the small pack start ups are doing while self it's also one of the things done that we talk about week after week need like taxes in Tennessee and Florida are really saying nice job gains there's still a lot of delay in those states like where you are in New York and New Jersey my home state of Illinois they are slow to get going I don't of course you got the disaster of what's happening in Seattle Washington which John I think it's just a disgrace what else would you like to tell the American people on Sunday morning what can happen this way well it's time to go back to normal we cannot live in fear John you know we now have better treatments we have better casting for corona virus I believe this country is so much better shape today than we were three months ago I believe that god Donald Trump in terms are handling the economic aspect of this is done a great job thank goodness we have a businessman who's been successful who's guiding us through this I love his line that I rebuilt the economy once I'm gonna rebuild it again but he's not getting a lot of cooperation from these democratic mayors and democratic governors they gotta get with the program they got open up their businesses they got about let workers get back to work we need a payroll tax cuts we need liability reform for our employers so they can feel comfortable about hiring workers and then third of last job we have to do something about their sound employment insurance system which is paying two thirds of workers in America more money for not working not working you can't have a recovery is out the lab would tell us if you're paying people more you know stay home on our couch rather than go out and get a job if we fix those three things I think we're gonna have a a summer that keeps getting better and better and the ball is gonna look really good even more thank you so much for coming on the show this morning and don't catch up with you again next week all right John thanks for everything you do and how about yourself we use today special operation his name is Jerome Corsi American often a political commentator and he's written a lot of great books he's got a new book called the book and see it broke about our country good morning to all how are you this morning I'm great John good to be with you again thank you Paul Paul Martin Jol America about your new book well I wrote this book called how to plan to remove Donald Trump from the presidency he bought his encore C. nation C. O. R. SI nation dot com to expose what I think is a systematic orchestrated brilliantly engineered continuing attempt to remove Donald Trump from office at all costs and we've gone through Russia gate how we've gone through the cold the quarantine be used by democratic governors to keep people in in the in the homes all and shut down the economy prolong that now we're seeing antifa and black lives matter in the.

"Iconic letters WABC which is Been like the number one news talk station in the nation for decades but John You obviously are a man who said many different business entities over the years and I noticed that you had tweeted out earlier. This week may be to stop the roller coaster ride on Wall Street up one day down. The next stay should just cease trading for a week. Was I correct on that on Sunday night? I did tweet that out. I discussed it on. Wabc with A couple of radio shows And last night's on the president's speech He acknowledged that he had directed. Dacian from a few individuals One of the other individuals is the CEO of a major bank and He decided not to do it. by Idea to do. It was the fact that the politicians of taking charge of the markets in the markets were a roller coaster. And it was the wrong thing to do and I think the words I used that maybe we should shut down the markets for two days. Three days five days until things sort themselves out. That's a great British term Otherwise we were Victims to politicians playing ping pong cheddar except the ping pong was hitting each other's his head. the president shot it down We're in a different direction. It looks like the politicians are a little bit closer to Doing a deal. The markets are up sixteen hundred points today And we're all hoping for solution. The president also made a statement saying that. We'RE NOT GONNA have everybody in jail for the next three months and that He'll loosen up The ability for people to move around but still take safety procedures so Mr Cat St Obviously I. I'm not an expert on the markets. I mean I can't even balance my own checkbook. Frankly but the markets are so reactive to what the President says. And that's I guess the concern that I have is that it goes up and then it goes down. It goes up and IT GOES DOWN. And it's just is there a way? What about shortening the market the trading day would that have any benefit? I don't think it'll have any benefit it'll and I did say publicly. That the facts are It looks like The public is not Accepting things that the Fed is saying they like it but they're not accepting it and people really looking for hope they're looking for The idea where where where is the end. Where is the blue sky? When do I have to work? Stop worrying about my father and mother dying. When do I have to stop worrying about My sister or brother dying and I think that's what the take is the confidence that we're moving in the right direction and the fact that There's a lot of good possible medicine. Medical Solutions I as a Temporary solutions based on a vaccine coming some day and the fact that president trump is saying to the FDA. Let the people try somebody solutions onto that new law? That says that If I'm dying I I could try Certain medicines that May Keep me alive I think that is good to now. John Catch Me Titas You provide some of the essential businesses The president and others have spoken about covenant. Local officials supermarkets the food chain. You feed it you have Gristiti's in Dagestan. No plus you have other holdings Can you say to our listeners? Who am I go to a big box store supermarket or even a grocery store and days on end they see certain shelves wiped out Toilet Paper? Paper towels paper products Frozen foods things of that nature. The supply is relatively good. There's a lot I don't logistic problems. some of US stores have received frozen foods in three four or five days. But that's not because the White House doesn't have him. The warehouse is having a logistics problem. I got on the phone with the CEO of the warehouse. And they feel that Day will solve that problem in the next twenty four hours But certainly we've not received any problems From Campbell. Soup saying we're we can't make any bill Campbell soup from clorox saying we can't make anywhere clorox always short twenty paper. Yes short toilet paper. That's because everybody but a lot of toilet paper and fills up their closet with it. Dan them really running into problems. There Mr Katz I gotTa Tell You. What did you ever think John? You and others in the business that maybe you might have to ration products that people just have an insatiable demand for I told our people that unless somebody's being Really Crazy I'm nothing. Arash in other words if somebody's GONNA buy two four packs of Toilet Tissue. Give it to him. I'll give it to her but if somebody wants to buy a whole case to case is not in that case we'll ration In other words common sense solutions not just just absolute orders. Speaking of common sense we had you on. What was it a week ago? We can have your idea your proposal to have cruise ships sort of come in and be the quarantine hospital if you will place for Corona virus people to be taken if they have to be taken into isolation and interestingly it's it's I mean it's it's really taken taken speed on and in addition to that the cruise industry I was told that the president re read by all thought it was a great idea Did Act on it last week. Yeah and so. We're hearing the Carnival has announced it offered some of its ships for temporary medical facilities. So we can thank you for that well It was a common sense solution I thought it was smart and I told her to the president to keep people in hospitals separate from the virus. People also smart. Go ahead back. I was GONNA say it's also smart for the cruise line industries themselves. Because you know there's there's talk of wanting to get the stimulus money yet. They get a lot of criticism because they're all registered over in places like Malta and Liberian so forth so that could be a very good. Pr Move for Carnival and so forth Well IF WE'RE GONNA pay them anyway the cruise ships we might as well use them John. Let's talk local New York City. The city controller is said. We'RE GONNA lose six billion dollars at this point of taxable revenue. I'm sure is even more that the state State Control Automata. Napoli would say that we're losing each and every day each and every week How much longer from your experience can our economy? It's almost like a quantum easing like. They do it to banks after the two thousand eight crash. How much more can we absorb without? Ball government functioned Common Functions Ceasing to be able to operate at the levels. Who are used to be. The truth is and you know Curtis me a you know the time we always tell each other Detroit. The truth is the fact that I think there's gotta be a solution and the next thirty days. Otherwise we're in deep. I'm bad word. We own the deep Doo Doo. Doo Doo a lack of reset. Yes you can say whatever you want as a cabin deep goo at the next thirty days let me ask you one more thing on you. Have you have the experts the epidemiologist and so forth saying you cannot have a functioning economy if you have the hospitals overflowing and the hospital system collapsing and your response to that Look right now. There's a lot of politicians get on the radio. Get on television and say. Oh we're GONNA have eighty percent I think. That number is exaggerated I think that we have a problem. Yes people be careful yes but I think things will themselves out over the next few weeks. I want him personally. Thank you on behalf of Management and staff here. You didn't have to do it but you sent in a decontamination cleanup crew. They were here early in the morning. The guys in cows They weren't deadbeats slackers Goldberger's they really used a lot of elbow grease I think it was a combination of mister clean and janitor in the drum and cleaned up every nook and cranny and corner of the seventeenth floor so that we would have a clean facility corona virus free to be able to operate in broadcast all of our listeners. John Well I think it was the right thing to do and I'm glad And David Got It done and And the other thing we got done in. Chad's recommendation is we took away the national show From three to six. I think we gave you guys an extra hour and I think we brought in some celebrities to talk about The problems New York City's having which crisis? Oh yeah every day in fact It ends was Steve. "We're very excited and honored to introduce our next guest. He's a self made billionaire. That's right the American dream at work any grew up in Harlem he attended Brooklyn Tech went to nyu he Runs the GRISTITI's? He created the whole thing. The guys he's brilliant what he is in any case Without further ADO Mr Katzman. Td's Decani Yasu Good. Good morning burning. How you guys doing good Bernie speaking to you right. I spoke greeted. This is Bernie speaking to you just so you know. I know we sound similar because we're a couple of Fast Talking New Yorkers but listen Mr Katz. Td's you are now our new boss. The owner of WABC radio and we're extremely excited. We have a great team and we look forward I know we're going to see tonight but we look forward to the whole endeavor so welcome to WABC and thanks for buying it and for saving it. Essentially well thank you you know I grew up on with. Wabc and It was a great station. Then we're GONNA make it even greatest station again now and It's IT'S THE ONLY STATION. I tuned into Growing up and and we're going to regain fame. You know John this is I'm GONNA says question. This is probably the question I'm asked the most with Mr Katz Matiz taking over. What is the direction of the station? Is John a Republican is Jonah Democrat? Is John Independent? What does he want on his radio? Station does trump dog all day. I swear John Mesa question all day and I always say I don't know I mean you want email email all of the above all of the above. Well I'm a common sense person I I will support Commonsense Democrats. I will support. Commonsense Republicans and I will support commonsense independence. It's all about common sense and and lately what a mess We haven't Albany because there's a lack of common sense which has turned The safety of all New Yorkers Topsy Turvy and You know crime is up like twenty thirty percent in January. Twenty thirty percent in February Closing of rikers island. I'm opposed to And I I just think we have to keep New Yorkers safe and Negro citizens should come first before criminals come first and I think it's important that we support our police department. Select keeping citizens say and tonight and you had a great interview with Ray Kelly who echoed many of those sentiments that we do as well all the time. I mean we're staunch supporters of the police and law and order and common sense. I mean and yes there is a there is a dearth of common seemingly in the in the Democrat Party now otherwise smart guys like Governor. Cuomo signing a no cash bail law that doesn't give judge's discretion and is directly responsible for Orissa rising crime these past two months here in New York City. I mean it really is a complete and total mess. And you've got a guy named he sees from the Bronx who's blocking change to this terrible law that Cuomo signed and Yeah we seem to be in a bit of trouble we seem to be regressing here in this wonderful city of ours. Well what's happening is they all feared The new Democrats think they're supposedly call him. Progressive Democrat Hasty is in fear that the Progressive Democrats will knock offs speakership. So he's afraid to do anything so what I am most annoyed about. Is that common sense? Moderate Democrats and there's a lot of them are afraid to stand up for what's right now a city and stay yeah. I don't disagree Jon Jon Katzenbach. Td's new owner here with WABC with us with burning inside. I don't disagree with you. I Know Democrats that are actually smart people and are not completely lost in this but because they're afraid to stop John like you've just said then we need more Republicans in office. So what do you think about this idea? You just want this station. Midday show host at twelve o'clock clock. I should say quotas sleep. Well Curtis and Juliette has announced that he is all likely going to run from something you did by the way about eight years ago. What do you think about Curtis? Well Curtis wants to run for mayor each the end do it and We should get somebody else who's WABC to run from controller this have a complete WABC W control. Let's see John batchelor. I think he's good with numbers but So so tragedy Department of Education. He wears a Bowtie and he looks like Mr Chips from the book You know anyway. Yeah Curtis is going to run and speaking of polly. We're talking with John Smith. He's a self made billionaire he runs the GRISTITI's grocery store chains and much much by the way I shop every single day. Want you to know. I live on one hundred and fourth and stand and your store and one hundred and third and Broadway. John not is where I shop every day. We need we need to business. Yeah you know what take say. If I didn't know graffiti I'd be higher up. La- speaking of Christie's there is a plastic bag issue. It was just a plastic ban a ban on plastic bags. And you I read over the weekend. You are considering building a factory to manufacture paper bags. Is that trowers. Can you confirm or deny that it is true A Senator Schumer so after supporting us and that half What what what. What's the craziest thing of all plastic bags questions? Two sets the new paper bags question. Ten Cents Plus Five Cents Tax Albany two lunatics in Albany for every paperback so the quest-. It goes from two cents to fifteen cents. You know how well retail is doing right now retailers falling off the cliff but but it doesn't so there's two sets of environmentalists does the environmentalists that that won't do you know if you recycle recycled plastic bags. You're fine and the environmentalists when I grew up We use paper bags. You're killing a billion trees. So which set of environmentalist paid off Albany and got the most Out of and and it's just crazy that gonna make consumers stuff less less less than consumers pick if they're plastic or they want paper and let's recycle everything. Yeah I mean. There was an article in the Wall Street Journal. Plastic bags help the environment. That's the name of the article right but nevertheless we have this law. That's common sense right. There John Matiz owner here with WABC on with With Bernie and said this morning so your guy that appreciates Republicans John you appreciate Democrats as long as the person as you talk about exhibits common sense with all that said one to ten ten being unbelievable job one being a horrible job. What number would you give to? Donald Trump on his presidency. Donald Look Donald has had the courage to stand up against trying to stand up against North Korea to stand up against Iran. Tell me which ones of the presidential candidates running for the Democratic Party. Had that courage to do so now. Not Quite the opposite. They suck up the dictators and the other one has got his son You know making billions from making millions at the very least from China due to his dad being vice president. None of them. None of them have the. Don't understand that I don't understand that that If the sun is getting billions from China and Ukraine and the father knew about it. Why is that? I hate crimes and misdemeanors I know right. It doesn't make any again. Common Sense has eluded the Democrat Party and a repeated over and over again and I think if they they think if they repeated constantly. Well there's no evidence of this and that you know people are going to believe it and of course we're not going to give up on at least. I'm not at least some of the politicians in the in Washington or not. They're still now that he's back in the race. They're gonNA go after hunter. Where's Hunter Donald Trump's? Doing your wants to debate hunter. I saw that would be great to see who benefited more from his dad. Being an office right. He did that on. Axios which aired on. Hbo Over the weekend. And it's a great challenge because we know we know what we know what the answer is trump junior would kick it says. Hey John Big party tonight here on stage Seventeen Burn I. Everybody have very excited about it. What can we expect? What's on the menu? What what what bands bringing what's going to be big here tonight. Well that are stationed. The president is in charge and We've got a lot of food out here. and We invited a lot of media people all the people that help. Close the deal It's just it's probably going to be the last party of the season. Twenty mave anymore parties. No this is business. Maybe we're trying to make some money in that we're assigned nobody's shaking hands. Everybody gets an I love it. I love it by the way no surgical masks. Because they're they don't really don't help they. Don't but no shaking hands? I liked that plan just fist bumping ten. That's it all right. Well listen John Cats. Td's we're very very excited. We have a great team here at WABC and we now have a great leader. Somebody who cares as passionate about radio as well. Whatever at somebody's passionate about radio and we're so glad to have you and look forward to the big bash. The last one tonight. Well look with you guys all right. Thank you very cats. Td's owner here at WABC and they took over last week. John took over last week when Apple Media and the future looks very very very bright. For Bernie Myself Joe Matt and the rush to everybody Iraq. Abc With what these guys in charge. Which Larry National Review still to come at seven forty and back to the big stories of the day including mini Super Tuesday?.
