"So anyway, and that aspect is really going to be good. But what else on the tournament? Okay, so here's another one. Here's another one we haven't talked about this. You and Gary might have a couple of weeks ago when it happened. But how do you evaluate John calipari now at Kentucky? Because they had a great regular season coming off a horrible regular season last year. Due to COVID to some degree, they were great and the regular season, everybody was happy. This is a team that's got a chance. I picked them to go to the final four and they lose in the first round. Two at least the team that wasn't a one and done. At least Saint Peter has made him look a little bit better by going all the way to the elite 8. But again, if you're a Kentucky fan and they're split right now, there's a lot of Kentucky fans hit me up saying, you know what? I want them out. And I'm saying, be careful what you wish for. Be careful what you wish for because it could get a lot worse in the Billy Clyde Gillespie a couple of years. They ran to be out and tubby's numbers were almost identical in the last 7 years as John calipari is his last 7 years. So they ran him out because he couldn't get good enough talent. They would run out California Perry if they were going to run him out for having too much talent and not doing enough with it, not winning enough national time. I mean, this year is just, I mean, you got to get past the first round, right? So how do you, how do you feel about John Kelly Perry that Kentucky going forward? I think I want to give him a little more coming out of chance. You know, I think he's a sound over and above the recruiting thing. I think he's a sound coach. I was always believed that but you're right. I understand it's a different evaluation process down there. You're held to a different standard that the whole big blue nation thing takes itself very seriously. I think it's safe to say. It's a different kind of job, even I don't know if you're closer to the collegiate scene than I would now. Another thing, I mean, the nature of what the program is all about or what it is made it into. But with Kentucky is just different. There's even with Kansas having, by the way, just passed them all time. Now by two games, right? They now have one two more games all time to Kentucky. But it's just the nature of their fandom, the fanaticism of the whole way, and it's been the single most unifying force in this Commonwealth of Kentucky, really, to the extent that the jayhawks is an important as they are. Aren't quite that in the state of Kansas, there's no Alabama football, Kentucky basketball to me are very similar..

"So that's not familiar. Yeah, it's like Dodd wrote it. And he might have seen this. I mean, for as long as there's been college football, the thing that makes college football particularly scandal, what am I trying to say? Is recruiting? The pro teams have drafts and free agency in these very formal organized ways for the teams to acquire talent. Recruiting is a free for all, and it always has been, and we know the famous stories about Eric dick Eric Dickerson and his cars and so on and so forth. So I think if I had to guess what Scott is feeling and I'm not trying to downplay it, I think a lot of people may feel this way right now is whiplash. There's so much drastic change at once. But to your point, is that drastic change, if you loved watching Michigan games at the big House, are you going to be thinking about any of that on the first Saturday of this coming season when Michigan runs out of the tunnel? Or when the ban comes onto the field that your favorite stadium, I'm not specific to Michigan. I don't think so. Can I float a theory here? And it could be totally off base. And I apologize if this is nowhere on your radar of it. And I don't want to zero it directly to him. I think this is in general some of the stuff you're talking about. I feel like because we, including myself, are so stuck on this thing, my phone, and so stuck on technology and social media that we are constantly getting peppered. I don't want to say bombarded, but constantly peppered with outrage and things that are disturbing and things that are sad and things that are annoying. And it just uses constantly being unsettled and poked that I feel like it's hard to enjoy a lot of things because you're seeing either the worst examples of it or things that maybe or just don't sit right. And I feel like that has a role in it. I think. The biggest threat to the popularity of the sport right now did you just dismissing what I said? Oh, I think it's a great theory. I mean, it's actually one of the deepest areas ever been said on this podcast. I didn't know how to respond to it. I think the biggest threat, if you will, is not these things we were just talking about. Well, it is something we were just talking about on the last email question, which is this regionalism, this consolidation of power in one part of the country. If you're a PAC 12 fan, if you're a fan of what's about to be kind of a stripped down version of the big 12. That to me would affect your interest in the game if you feel like we just don't have a seat at the table. We're not part of the big show. Not that this sport has ever been a level playing field by any means. But never has it been exclusive a club as it is right now. And so the question is, well, NIL help alleviate that. Will it make it even worse? Will it just balance each other out? We don't know yet. Or transfer portal for that matter. We just don't know yet, but to me that's the biggest issue of the sport is facing and it's one without any real solution. Now, after we just spent a long time answering that question, I wonder, I'm gonna email Scott. I wonder if we'll turn out the user referring to something completely different. Then what we were just discussing, but I've heard a lot of variations of, you know, especially since I wrote the story about the kid with the $8 million anti contract. This is the death of college football. So I'm assuming it has something to do with that. As always, you can send your emails to the audible pod at Gmail dot com. We'll see you next time..

"Does act with Scandinavian change him as a coach? Because there was the first thing that had ever really gone truly wrong for him. He's wins, national championships gets all these accolades and now he goes through the situation where he almost got fired or the media was tearing him apart and I don't know. Did it make him more paranoid? Did it make him, I don't know, it just seems like maybe he wasn't the same coach after that. Why do you say we get to the mailbag? As always, send your questions to the audible pod at Gmail dot com, Stu, tell me the first one. All right, this is from Andrew, and the subject of the email is non SEC conference leverage. Hey guys, you discussed on last episode. How you thought the PAC 12 may be losing its leveraging position when it comes to playoff expansion at the SEC may look to implement its own plan. However, I think the opposite may end up happening. One issue I'm curious about that I haven't heard discussed elsewhere is that by having so many traditional powerhouse teams from the same conference, the SEC, though play each other on a regular basis through the regular season, how does an expanded playoff up to 12 teams differentiate itself from the SEC regular season is in part of the lure from the bowls and the playoffs to get match ups between teams who wouldn't otherwise play each other due to geography and conference affiliation. If you're the other conferences, doesn't this actually give you leverage since eventually fans will eventually lose interest in those games and not wanting to see repeat matchups. I think people think that if there's a 12 team playoff, the SEC is going to put half the teams in. I don't think that's going to be the case. Maybe they get three, maybe they get four, and I also think that the same exact thing could happen from the big tent. I believe max Olsen, when the 12 team thing was first announced as a possibility, ran the numbers and it was actually the Big Ten, not the SEC. That would have gained the most playoff spots over the years. So. I just think the reason the SEC has all the leverage is because they're the ones keep winning the national championship and you can't have a credible playoff without the SEC. Yeah, and I think ultimately it's like, it's just comes down to that, right? It just feels like if somebody was not part of the SEC's version of the playoff, it would just not seem like it would have any meat behind it, right? And I think it would be hard for people to give and this isn't 2001 or 2002. So much has changed and how we look at the top of the food chain in the college football in the last 20 years. It wasn't like this. I mean, there was always passionate fan bases, but it wasn't like this till really to the mid 2000s when SSC went on this crazy run. It's true. I'm old enough to remember when at SI dot com. We did, this is kind of crazy to think now, but this was around 2003. And we did like a themed package about who are the most powerful people in college football who are the most powerful programs, which are the most powerful conferences. I remember Miami was considered the most powerful program. If that tells you what era we were in. And the most powerful conference we said was the Big Ten or the big 12. It was not the SEC. That the SEC wasn't just not regarded that way at the time. Maybe it was by SEC fans. But you know, the fact that auburn got left out in 2004 as the undefeated SEC champ, that would never happen today. Scott saxton, Windsor Ontario, frequent writer to the podcast. "But I'm going to the hand specialists at the university of Kentucky, who specializes in this kind of thing. So hopefully I'll come out of it okay. Let me say one thing and you and I have had many conversations over the years and I know you have battled certain things. But when I see your name down there, it brings joy to me and I know to people that work here and I will be thinking of you and I know many will be thinking of you through this process and we wish you only the best. And hopefully a recovery that enables you to have some comfort. Well, I really appreciate that, Paul. I know I've talked with you also known 20 to 30 years and people like you are important to people like me kind of homebound. And so it was sort of a release. My question, Paul, and you might not get to this today, but it would be a good topic for our future program if you don't. I've never heard you in the 20 or 30 years I've listened to have a program on team mascots. And my question is, who in your opinion are the top four or 5 teams when it comes to team mascots? And I would welcome the views of the other listeners and viewers on that question. With Kentucky, the Kentucky wildcats and that's a good one. But that's my question of the day. Okay, well, we will certainly delve into that and run as soon as you are able. Please let us know how you're doing. Thank you, Paul. Thank you, Ron. All the very, very, very best. Let's continue with more phone calls. Andy is up next. Hello, Andy. Hey, Paul. Hi there. So my question is, how do you think Alabama's receivers will do against Kobe and salt? They tend to be the two most two of the most talented corners in college football. And Alabama's fast paced. I was wondering do you think they can keep pace with Alabama receivers? Andy, I don't. I've seen Alabama go up against individual receivers that are first team all Americans, and we saw that with auburn. We've seen this with other skills. And I just think it's too much of a combination and I think it starts with Bryce young. If they have protection, they're even more dangerous, but I haven't seen anyone really this year that can lay a hand on jamison Williams and is unfortunately not going to be in the game, but there are plenty of other guys who can move in and take his place. Do you think AG hall might get some play in time now that misses now? Yeah, I mean, I think you've got to do a pretty pretty active rotation there because Alabama has good receivers beyond beyond those first two. And we've seen them, we saw them in the auburn game, but I do have faith in Bill O'Brien to mix it up. Hey, thank you for the call. Appreciate it. Let's check in with Luke, who is in Georgia. Hello, Luke. Hey, Paul. Good afternoon. Hi. So my question is, so George's decent didn't show up for Alabama. What do you think is their biggest weakness going into the mission game? Well, I just think George needs to make sure that everybody's on the same page with Dan landing, shuttling back and forth between Eugene, but to me it really starts on offense. This offense, which started fast against Alabama needs to be consistent because that lessons the load of the defense and I think that game after the second or third possession just completely came off the got off the wheels. And the pace of it, Georgia never could quite recover. All righty. So one more question. Quick question. Do you think do you think that JT should you think that that's in Bennett can do it? Or do you think they would need JT in to finish it off? I think if they can play their games, that's in Bennett can do it, but you have to remember Michigan is going to be the most difficult defense this team has seen this year. And Alabama was good too, but I think Michigan is in a different layer. I'm just not sure based on what everyone believes in terms of strengths and weaknesses at the Michigan offense is going to make much of a difference against Georgia's defense. Hey, thanks for the call. We have two weeks ago before we two and a half weeks before we see that game we'll take a break. It's been a busy one already with coach Cal starting us off or coming right back. You were listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. In Georgia, okay. Hi, Paul. I just wanted to say that I have loved players from blessings for all that is involved in the tornadoes and wrong keep the faith up because I am a survivor of cancer for three years today. And the best mascot is ergo accord. But I want you to have a great day and I go my dogs. Thank you. Yeah, and I think when you talk about mascots, I mean, are we talking about the Tiger and Aga? Are we talking about the mascot on the field for those who don't have who have animals? I mean, there are a lot of different variations. And we will get to that. And thanks for the kind words about Ron. Bob is in Fort Worth. Afternoon, Paul. Good afternoon. Hey, before I get to a point I want to make. I just want to say thank you. He went to the ball game, I wasn't real, tickled about the outcome. So I wanted to shout out to all these kind of we had a really good time. We went to a big tailgate care people he probably knows and then had really good seats up in the club section of the stadium and I had a good time I've had years at a way from my own gain. That's fantastic. What I call to say all is. When Jimbo was being touted by LSU to continue the day that I don't know it to be true, but to come out with a deal seen several places that LSU offered offered GMO a $125 million contract. And he didn't take it. And there's a word to go with that. He becomes forced with his college professional anymore. That's integrity. He said he's going to stay at a and M any state at amia at just like when they was trying to win Texas was trying to recruit I can't even talk anymore. We're trying to Nick makes it Alabama cause Nick wants to be at Alabama. And I think that I think we finally found a coach really wants to be. I want to personally shake hands with a man who turned down a $35 million raise. That's exactly. That's pretty extraordinary. No, I think Jimbo and Jimbo was wooed early in late in this endeavor and he decided no. And give him credit. And I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that he knew what he was building there. And I think this recruiting class tomorrow bears that out. Well, I'm hoping for number one class, but do you think that top three between Kirby and those guys, I think we'll be tickled to death. I think he's going to knock her out of the park tomorrow. Yeah, bob, I say this to ag fans. I don't know how it's going to turn out because I am by no means you're recruiting expert. I do know a few. And whether it's first second or third, it's not going to really matter. You're having the best class you've ever had. First is fun to talk about. It is Texas, after all, but the fact that Jimbo has elevated this program is really a testament to the commitment to him and his commitment to Aggie land. Thank you very much for the call. Joel is in New York. Hello, Joe. Paul, first time call, I listened to you a lot up here in the north and you're arguing with Stephen a Smith and you're up here on ESPN. I find you be highly qualified..

"We go. What is running them all? Is Brian horston telling them I'm just going to go with a different direction and how do you see I don't see y'all being on the ceiling? I can not imagine him telling tank bigsby that. I mean, that would just be foolish. That's what I'm saying. I wouldn't see him saying it to bow either. I mean, he's got family ties. No, you know, I don't think there's any chance that happened. I think there's a better chance that those players detected something going on down there that they don't like. And I think in both of their cases, they've paid the dues. And have earned the opportunity to look around. And I have no problem with that. And I don't know if it's all Brian harsh. Remember, the coordinator changed, that could upset upset them a little bit. I mean, think about how many coordinators those two guys have had. I think he's had three. I was at three different offense coordinator drive. So at some point you decide, okay, how much time do I have left? Not much. Do I want to stay here and auburn very much looks like a program in transition because those are two of the best players they have. They obviously have a great player on the defensive secondary. And the recruiting is not sensational unless it changes overnight. So they're doing what a lot of young people go down to UCF. And I don't know. I know that's where people think. I'm not convinced of that, but I think they're just looking to go someplace and we've all been there before in our lives. We're okay, maybe I need a change. Hey, thank you for the call, Matt is up next. Hey man. We're doing no one crashing my hand. What's your thoughts on that fall? And I wanted to ask you a question. It's not about the poll game. It's about how next year's quarterback battle is going between ESL and the firestar. What is your thoughts on that as well? Matt, I really don't know. I mean, we had it all figured out this year until Haines king got hurt. So I'm going to hold my fire. Okay, so what you get the number of recruiting class Paul? Well, it's either going to be Alabama, Texas a number of Georgia. And I think for a and M, it would mean more, Alabama wins it every year, Georgia wins it a bunch of times. So I think it's a record. I think it's a big recruiting tool if Texas a and M finishes number one, I think it completes another mission of Jimbo Fisher to show everyone how good this program is. And I think it shows them that we're going in the right direction. We haven't reached that area to win that for ten weeks, but we're getting to that point where the title hits the Denmark. Well, I don't know. I mean, certainly you can't lose four games a year and hope to win the national championship. You can't blow games down the stretch, like a and M did, especially to LSU, but ultimately a and M is in a really good spot. Thank you for the call. Anne is in Charlotte to hello Ann. Hey, Paul, how are you? And we are doing our first time caller. I'm a first time caller and my family is split up. My daughter went to Alabama roll tide. My son went to UNC, go tar heels. And I graduated from university of South Carolina and I'm just wondering what you think of Shane beamer bringing Spencer Rattler. Well, I think it was a big it was a big move. Certainly they had a relationship when Shane worked for Lincoln Riley and Norman. I don't know what Spencer Rattler is going to look like. I know what he was. And four months ago, he was the top player in college football coming into the season. It went badly for him. That doesn't mean it will go badly for him now, but I think for South Carolina, considering their quarterback woes, it's a big shot in the arm to get someone of his ability and hope that he fits well into South Carolina's approach. Yes. I'm really hoping that with Shane and bringing Spencer Rattler that it can help turn around the gamecocks because I've been a game called fan for many, many years and it just seems like every year they are not do not have a winning record. So I'm hoping I really admire Shane beamer and I'm really have hoped that bringing Spencer Rattler can help turn the program around. And thank you. Yeah, I don't know what really went wrong for him this year in alcohol. I know this potential is. It was like JT Daniels and Spencer was the top player couple of years ago and he earned his Heisman preseason ranking analysis a matter of recovering what he had and moving on. But it's still a big deal for Shane beamer. We'll take a break, more to come. More of your phone calls right after this. You are listening to the Paul Fein bomb show podcast. And welcome back. It's great to have you here. And by the way, I've heard from some friends in Alabama, there have been some reports there, referencing the call to the call about tank bigsby, he has not declared that he is in the portal and there are some reports in Alabama that he met with yesterday and maybe staying. So that is not a package deal, but Nick has announced he's leaving Tang bigsby has not said that. I want to make sure people understand that. Let's move on. More of your phone calls at 8 5 5 two four two 7 two 8 5 and Ian is up next in South Carolina. Hello, Ian. Hey, Paul, how are you doing today? Ian, we're doing well. Thank you. So I called you, I'd say right around the start of the season. And I spoke with you about how I felt Shane beamer was representing the school in the off season. And I'm paraphrasing severe with me. I don't remember word for word what you said, but you said that you felt that Shane beamer had won the off season and that you thought that was very admirable. But the bottom line was he had to get better players. Now coming from a team that won two games last year, and then I believe it was four games. The year before that, and in his first season, he was able to produce a bowl game. And if hypothetically, if we go and we win the bowl game and he wins 7. My question is, would you consider that a win in year one for Shane beamer because what you told me a few months ago was that you didn't have the slightest idea how it would go, the one the lights came on, he would be judged just like everyone else and producing equal to our wind total the two previous years combined in his first year. Potentially getting more wins than that. And not only that, you know, the news came out yesterday that we just got spent a rattler at the transfer and another tied in really good. Would you in your professional opinion? Would you say that you feel Shane beamer one year one with South Carolina? Ian, I would say hands down he won. And I had a chance to be in South Carolina early in the season to see it firsthand. And I realized that was early, but what I saw was incredible. I saw a fan base, especially students who are enamored with Shane beamer who love what he says and he has this infectious personality. And I think he wants some big games. And the recruiting is proof of that. So yeah, and I say all this because even though I understood the decision to hire him, fans wanted him former players warning him. It was still a little bit of a stretch considering some of the other names that had been mentioned, but it's no longer a stretch. It's a big win for South Carolina. And I think it will continue to get better. Thank you for the call. We really do appreciate it. Ron is up next in Kentucky. Do you own or rent your home? Sure you do. And I bet it can be hard work. You know, it's easy, bundling policies with Geico. Kakko makes it easy to bundle your homeowners or renters insurance,.

"I ask my question? Of course. Oh, okay. Yeah, I'm a Michigan fan. And as you know, I'm calling in regard to a caller you had yesterday, Ben some Akron. And he was talking about Michigan fans being classless and talking about how we feel like we've been there before. Well, we have it. We've lost 17 out of the last 20 and haven't won since 2011. And I mean, Desmond made a comment about the offensive line, which, you know, I mean, in some circles, yeah, could have been not said or boarded differently, but the fact remains is that Michigan fans have been listening from Buckeye fans for decades. For years. And it just seems like they're happy when they can trash us and they're unhappy when they lose. So they just come across as the child that's told no 999 times and or yes. And then they're told no once and they feel like they've been told no a thousand times. I mean, I just, you know, yeah, we were not used to this. We're used to having our heart broken. And it would just be nice for them to realize that they don't always win and we don't we very rarely get to have nice things. That's all. Just thank you. I hope you enjoy those nice things. Patrick is up next to hello Patrick. It's always going on. We're doing great. Thank you..

"Supercuts moments that matter from the first draft podcast with Mel kiper junior Todd mcshay and field Yates is there a quarterback worthy of being drafted number one overall because no player has the ability to influence a franchise more than a young quarterback in. Is there one this year? Absolutely not. And I could say a 1000% no. And how high will you move Kenny Pickett from pit up? How high will you move Desmond Ritter Cincinnati? Todd already set. He doesn't even have Ritter as one of his top quarterbacks. Matt carral, old myth. You think about a kid like Malik Willis liberty struggled down the stretch. He really had some struggles to re INT against Louisiana Monroe. Middle Tennessee state saw what happened late year when the competition got a little bit better. So a rough game against old miss. Now that's not his fault. You can't go with just on just quarterback when your team's out, man. They couldn't block them. You can't paint them if you can't block them in football, but the quarterbacks they answer your question feel nobody is then that top tens at a category right now. In fact, when I look at my big board, I see Kenny Pickett at 19 Desmond Ritter 20, Mac real 22. Malik Willis a 28. Yeah, it's interesting because just looking at my grades on this year's class versus last year's class and talking to a couple probably three or four different people over the last month or so in the league for evaluating this quarterbacks already. I would say the same thing as the people I talked to in the league and that said, you would be jumping off at number 6 in terms of quarterbacks if you were trying to stack this year's guys.

"We welcome you back and again, thank you to coach calling everyone at the university of Kentucky and throughout that state. Who are working so hard and so tirelessly right now to help those less fortunate. Let's get to the calls and the headlines of this day. And it is signing day. We're just hours away from it beginning players are committing around the clock and there's a three team race for number one. It's usually Alabama Georgia pretty much every year. A and M trying to make a claim for the number one spot. Lane kiffin on the transfer portal, they're going where they're going to get paid the most. Oh, okay, coach. Let's hear from the lane train. I don't think people really say it this way, but let's not make a mistake. I mean, we have free agency in college football. And the kids autumns go to work and get paid the most, so no one else saying that maybe, but you know, the kids say this is what I'm getting here for an aisle. You know, and so we really have it is what it is. You know, free agency has been created in college football, you know? I can go except you can't lock people into a contract. You know, they can go at any time. So it's a new world that we're in. You know, and sometimes they want a company to say, I get this much money if I go there. So this is just a whole new thing to deal with. If he was talking to anybody in particular there meanwhile, dabo has made some changes, krystal reporting. The dabo is following his own path. Making changes. So Godwin will be the D.C. taking over for venables. Is that a good trade? And for Tony Scott Brandon Schrader is moving up along with Kyle Richardson. Let's get to the rest of the show. They had a sports Twitter will join us. John Feinstein, bestselling author, has a new book out, always interesting to hear from John and Brandon Marcelo. We'll talk about tomorrow. Auburn, his former beat. And the ball season. And your phone calls at 855-242-7285. We begin with Scott in Texas. Hello Scott. Hey, Paul. You learn? Very well. Thank you. First of all, just say the prayers are going out with the Kentucky. That is devastation. And I've said prayers just out too. What a call for is to tell Nick Saban in mystery that people are criticizing this and all of that about how good we are because I'm a fan. And as far as not with the team, but with the leader, you look at lakes, even his family, what they do for other people. As far as helping them rebuild home and flight data, they have to other people and I think that's really what the player see and they say and is he always isn't and in return he's being blessed. And I think as a good quality out of the savings family. Thank you. Scott, thank you very much for sharing that message. It's an important one. James is up next to hello James. Sounds like to me that mister responsibilities are Ted unhappy. Your boy lying train. Yeah, I heard I heard something in there. You can guess where he was directing his venom, but I think it's pretty obvious. Well, it's a long story. Can we Paul? Do you still have that telephone number? I got as far as 8 three three and that last arrest of it. We'll share it with you in a minute. Okay, brother. Have a good one. Keith is up next in Ohio. Hello, Keith. Hi, hi, Paul. How are you, sir? "Wife and I are doing X amount of you and your wife want to do 5 or 10,000. That's fine if you don't, that's fine. Well, whatever you want to do, and he hits me back and he texts me and said, well, we'd like to do 50, will you call me? Well, 8 seconds later I had him on the phone. Yeah, I'll call you if you're gonna get 50,000 to our people in our state. Yes, he said this was it. Pauly says, we're together. We're with your program. We are with your state. Till Saturday, when we're your opponent, then we're going after each other. But right now, as we speak, we're together. And we're going to give you 50,000. So my hats off to Chris holtman talks a lot about demand. I know he's a terrific coach. I'm watching tape. I told him you were running great stuff and very physical. But forget that. Who cares? This is about life and death. Sometimes we feel our jobs or life and death. They're not. They're not. This is life and death. We're again encourage people to this afternoon and tonight to pay very close attention to this telethon. And we thank you, as always, for stepping up and leading your program as a Beacon in that state and around the country. We appreciate it very, very much. Thanks, Paul. Appreciate you, Paul. "Love little beamer, getting held up close game. Oh yeah. It was great. They all just ran, jumped on him. You know, he's like, oh, gosh, and just the energy and the fans. It was great. Great interview by you. Great bite by coach beamer saying that it's like a movie, colonel zebul Lyon Ole and sub Nolan coming in and saving the day. And that kind of got us thinking for the show tonight. Top sports movies. Now we're not going to give our list away now because we want you to come watch our show tonight. But we're going to give a little preview of some of our top ones. So for you, what are some of the movies at the top of your must watch? Like it doesn't have to be the most inspiring or anything like that. Just one that if it's on TV, you have to watch it. I don't know, this is Harvey. So we're not giving away our list, right? Not all elections. But I think maybe one or two on our list is okay. Okay, I'm going to say that if dodgeball is on, like, I'm going to play it. If dodgeball is on, I'm playing it because it's funny, there are so many quotable moments. It's on in the background. I'm laughing. I'm joking. Dodgeball. Dodge duck, dip, dive and Dodge? You nailed that on the first trip, by the way. Everybody at home screaming going like, how did you not say Rudy or something serious, you know? And I will say our list is not super serious. We have some very inspirational sports movies on here. But I will say, I have a funny one. I won't give it away. I'll go more serious miracle. Miracle is such a good. Like if you're not ready to run through a wall after watching miracle and especially the scene where he's like, again, and he's making them spread across sprints across the ice. My legs just hurt, watching that scene, but also what a great movie. Also, I just think that hockey is so difficult. So anytime I watch anything about hockey, I'm like, that's gotta be so hard. So are you gonna pick a serious sports movie over a comedy? Like if you had to pick, it depends on my mood because there's a movie on our list tonight that has caused a lot of issues that I put on the list that is a funny sports movie. And I feel like it's an extremely underappreciated sports movie. It's got a lot of big names. And it big sports names in it. I'll give you a hint, Mike Ditka is in this movie. See, it's funny because I don't know just for the people at home and find bombers. I don't know what Alyssa's movies aren't. And she doesn't know what mine are anytime you do this. Like the reactions are real. And we argue. I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm sure it's probably not a good movie. Tweet at us what you think the best sports movies are. Maybe they'll make our last minute list. Her movies are probably terrible, also.

"Is up next. Good afternoon Bobby. Hey, how are you doing? Very well. Thank you. Okay. About an hour or so ago. I don't remember how long ago it was, but there was a guy on the show and he was talking about his Christmas wish list. And I said, well, if Paul is entertaining Christmas wish list, why you're not call with mine and here it is. First of all, I like to say, roll tie. The second thing I'd like to say is, number one on my Christmas wish list was for LSU to retain coach O for at least another 5 or 6 years. That was number one. Okay, since I can't have that, here's number two. That they would hire Mike dabone. As their head coach he's busy right now. In high school ball. Yeah, but I think if they called me by entertain the thought. So let's hope that this happens. And a couple other things I wanted to say on a more serious note. I think that an IO, the transfer portal, when and sports Betty. These are four things that at some point, we're going to regret they are all horrible for sports. I've been a sports fan. I'm 59. I was a 58. I've been a sports fan since the 70s. 71, 72 somewhere around there. And just don't feel the same about as that did back then. Everything has changed. And it's not for the better, because I'm just a pure sports fan. Yes, I'm my Alabama fan. Roll tied to the bottom of my heart. But the thing about it is even that isn't as much fun as it used to be. I mean, I can remember watching David Palmer. I mean, I know this is not that long ago, but watching David Palmer, a wide receiver play quarterback and not do that bad and I love sports at that time. I can remember when the deuce got loose. He wasn't a bad quarterback at all. And you know, let me offer a couple of thoughts quickly here. I think we all pine for different Arab perhaps. But unfortunately, and I say this because it's true, you can undo in IL and the portal can be adjusted, but it's part of college football now. The betting part is interesting. I am trying not to be too naive, but everywhere when I'm on these college campuses, I interact with the students all the time and they're always asking me the same thing. Bobby, who do I like in the game tomorrow by the spread? I mean, they're not interested in who's going to win. They want to know whether they'll cover or not. And a lot of young people are betting because it's so available and it's so easy. Yeah, but I'd like to offer them something different. Just watch the game. Well, enjoy the competition. Let's not worry about all the other stuff. Just watch the game. I greatly admire your idealism. And I hate you mentioned Christmas. Wishlist, I hate to be the Grinch that stole your Christmas. But hold on to that idealism, but it's not changing. And I regret to be the grim Reaper there delivering that unfortunate news. Jim is in Ohio, hello, Jim, go right ahead. Hey, Paul, thanks for taking my call. You know, I was talking about Christmas wish list, the Oklahoma and Texas come into the SEC. I think that's a big Christmas present for the SEC. And the way I see it, I'm here in Ohio, I'm like the first Buckeye fans that come to the SEC because eventually everybody is going to be there. It'll be the big one because the only person team statement enough not to go to the SEC would be Michigan. Do you think really think that this is good for football in general? Well, it's necessary. Yeah, I mean listen, what's good and what's going to happen in the reality are completely different. I'm still an idealist at heart, but I'm also a realist when coming to understand the business of what we're in. And I. Know where I work. I'm proud to be an employee here, but where I work is a big part of the college football machine. Anyone who doesn't think that is not paying close attention, it is big business. And that's really watched sports betting is a big part. We may act like it doesn't exist in certain crevices of broadcasting, but it does. We can't run away from this. It's just part of reality and at the end of it, for all these things that we don't like that it's not the same as it was in 71 or 81. There are still tens of millions of people watching it every weekend and enjoying it. So that's what, you know, that's what I pay attention to. Thanks for the call. Appreciate it. Very, very much. Sean is in Athens. You're on the air, go right ahead, Sean. Hey, Paul. How you doing today, brother? Sean, we're doing great. Thank you. I want to thank you Friday you met me and my girlfriend, Stephanie, she was I kind of dragged her out there from studying, but she really enjoyed talking. Pharmacy student? Yes, sir. All right, I remember meeting her well. She so I'm talking to Sean, Friday afternoon during a break. And she is studying as we're talking. I mean, that I admire, by the way. Well, I can tell you this test she was studying for was I've seen it in passage she was getting kicked out of school. I can tell you she made it out of that test today, Paul, so I'm participating at all. Well, I told my wife who is in the medical field, I told her about meeting you guys and she said that's exactly what I would be doing on Friday afternoon. So it's a good thing I didn't meet her while we were in college because I never saw a book on Friday afternoon. I can assure you. That's for sure. Yeah. I don't see much very more, but let me give you some advice here, Sean that hang in there because you've got a winner in that young lady. And thanks for the call and thanks for you guys coming by and visiting. We have a lot more to do. Cecil hurt was joining us in the next hour. Can't wait to talk to him about Alabama football and the Tennessee rivalry. He's seen a few of those third fourth Saturday in October games. We are coming right back. "But I want to comment on what your last caller was talking about floppy. I went to LSU and I remember one game when they were playing too late and it was after got what the score was, but it was getting towards the end of the game and then all of a sudden you saw about four or 5 LSU players that were down on the field, you know, pretending to be hurt. So that's been going on for a long time. It's true. And I think it will continue to go on for an even longer time. We are heading to a break here, the man, John calipari will join us next. You are listening to the Paul find show podcast. And we welcome all of you back great to have you here and we continue to build up toward basketball season. It's right around the corner and we are just delighted to welcome from Lexington the head coach of the wildcats coach Sean caliper. Coach, it's great to see you again. We were up in Lexington a couple of days ago two weeks ago and people were pretty fired up not only about basketball, but obviously about football. How are you? I'm doing great. How about our football team? I mean, it's unbelievable. I mean, in going to Georgia, that's a rock fight. You forget about execution, I mean, these are in our team held their ground. I was so proud. I told Mark that he was, I wish we had executed better. Not in a rock fight. No, not in a rock fight. Well, I've had a couple of conversations with you about football in the past. I know, I know you're a big fan, but this time of the year as much as you would love to fixate on that. I know you're concentrating on basketball and I don't want to put words in your mouth, but people we talk to while we were in Lexington two weeks ago or pretty excited about this team. Well, we got a long way to go, but, you know, when you have some veterans, and I usually don't have many veterans. I'm saying, you know, some kids that transferred in and some kids within the organization within the team. They know how to get ready for practice. They're on time for things. They do what they're supposed to. I kind of forgotten because I have all 17 and 18 year olds. And you're almost teaching that stuff, too. So the competitiveness, the guard play, the physicalness, the shooting, you know, we got a chance. But, you know, it's a long way away. We've had great practices, I'm happy that they're competing, you know, I'm stretching them out. My job is to make them uncomfortable. Their job is to be comfortable being uncomfortable. And so I'm kind of stretching them out a little bit. Yeah, with your resume, and it's obviously Hall of Fame in one of the great modern basketball history. I wondered what last year was like for you because it was a COVID year. It was everything was difficult. What did you, even at this stage of your story career take from that experience? Well, I can tell you one thing after we got started and I put a stupid schedule together for a young team. After we got started, I stopped looking at it schedule. I know everybody says full of crap. I did not know we were 8 and 8 in the league until like three days ago. We were 8 and 8 in our league. I had no idea. I mean, all I worried about is keeping kids healthy, which meant we never came together. We never trusted we were never together. They never came to my house. They never felt what it is to be a player here. We never had fans. Our fans carry us the wins. This program is as much about the fans as anything else. On the road, they're all sellouts on the road. We had none of that. I mean, it was, you know, it was one of those. But for me, it was a blip. I move on, you know, this team I'm coaching is like past teams, where every practice you're getting something out of it. Those are my best teams. The teams that win all the games and do the stuff that they've done. This team has the traits. Now you've got to go do it. And everybody's out to get you every game we play is a Super Bowl. How about this poll? Teams that never thought they could beat us. Beat us a year ago. Now I think they can beat us. So now you're going in them not thinking we can't win this game. We lost games in rub. We never lost it. We lost four games and 12 years erupt or 11 years. We lost games in rup arena now people that would think they got no chance. They can beat you. It's gonna make it even harder for us. Well, you're right. And but having said all that, you still made a run last year that I mean, you had people going well, all they have to do is win this and that and they may get in, which was pretty remarkable considering where you were at one point. Well, you know what I was trying to convince them that we could do it, but I'm telling you again, the most important thing is in coaching is trust. Someone said, you know, they're looking at you. They got to trust what you're saying. I'll give you an example. I'm coaching Shea, Alexander. And I'm not starting him early in the year. And I go up to him and I say, listen, kid. I know you should be starting. I'm feeling it now. He said, coach, stop. I trust you. Last year, two years ago, a manual quickly. Paul, he didn't start early. And it's a sophomore year. And he said, coach, I trust you. By the end of the year, he's player of the year, and we win the league by three games. That team could have won a national title, by the way. So now this team we're trusting each other. They're at my house every weekend. They're together. They're hanging out in mass, not just two or three guys. It's like a group of them doing that. Plus I got veterans, which the teams that I've had here that have been the best teams have had really good freshmen and really good veterans. Well, I take that back. The year we started 5 freshmen, we went to the national championship game. But that team, if you remember, was an 8 seed and didn't start playing well until the last two weeks of the year, the last week of the season in our tournament, we launched a Florida in the final tournament. They had us an 8 seat. So that team was different. Most of the teams I've coached that have been really good. Freshmen and veterans. Talking to coach Cal Perry. Coach, you've had some epic rivalries with other coaches. I know it's about the schools and the players, but I'm curious Roy Williams stepped down last year in North Carolina this year as everybody knows coach K is leaving duke. When you think about these things, do you ever stop and go, hey, I mean, I'm still going great. I'm still relatively young, but these guys are starting to drop off. Yeah, you know, again, I talked to Roy already I've invited him to practicing and I talk because there's some things I may try this year that I've asked him about..

"The pride passion that pageantry of college football lives here. This is the Paul Fein bomb show hour three podcast. We are back a number of guests will join us in the second two hours. John calipari joining us in just a few minutes legendary Kentucky basketball coach. And an hour from now, the legendary sports columnist from the Tuscaloosa news Cecil hurt. Let's continue with more of your phone calls and Derek is in Los Angeles. Hello Derek. Hi, Paul. Thank you for taking my call. Thank you. And shout outs to young men, John, who retired in Texas, who's in Ohio State fan. You made me laugh when you talked about beating Michigan because I really think that that's going to be a close game. But either way, I hope I called earlier some weeks ago. I think that Jim Hobart belongs in the NFL and I hope the Vikings are the bears of the Raiders or the Miami Dolphins are able to look at him. But my case while actually my question, I was going to ask you about gambling in sports, but I'm going to change that because Perkins called and I think Perkins are Roy. I want to worry with the Roy with the official. Perkins call it about the safety. And it was really alarming when that got almost hit lane kippen. And my question to you, Paul is is it going to get to the point where the inner stadium per game is going to be like TSA going to an airport? I mean, does somebody have to get hurt or killed before the security is really tightened up because I know you have a 100,000 people in these stadiums, but it was really alarming when that happened and watching that game here in Los Angeles. I would say, wow. That was just unbelievable. I just wanted your opinion on. We've gone through this over the years. I think after 9 11, there was a lot of electronic. Surveillance and we had to go through checks. That has lessened and I do agree. I don't think anything that has happened since since Saturday night is going to stop at is going to stop it from happening again. And quite frankly, I don't think the outrage has been very high and. The university I think outside of the president had a fairly predictable and muted response. And I mean, I didn't see any anger or outrage from the head football coach. He almost seemed I'm not putting words in his mouth, but he said the right things, but then he thanked the crowd for filling in the sections that filled up where the demand left. I mean, that was not a defense. That was just basically playing. That was base politics. But when a cheerleader or a band leader or even someone who's helping or giving water to the players, gets hurt and then I think it's main, then they got to react, which kind of that's really I mean, we are all very fortunate to nothing happened other than because fans I don't want to say fans of are different today, but there is more of an emotional involvement in terms of reaction because we're also used to and have a licensed to react and what I mean by that is social media that if I'm a fan and I don't like what you've said about my team, I can say anything I want about you. I'm letting it out where and maybe that's good. I used to joke back in the day that a program like this was good for college football, as opposed to deleterious for college football because people at least got it out of their system. It was cathartic. But if you're in a football game and it's a four and a half hour game and you've had three 24 ounce beers and all of a sudden you see something you don't like and somebody throws something out there, what are you going to do? I'm not trying to be a. Psychologist here, but when somebody does it, it tends to trigger a cell in your brain to go, you know what? I've got I've got a Jack Daniels bottle here. I'll just go ahead and throw that myself. You know what, Paul, you hit it. You hit it right on the nail when you set about alcohol and like I said, you know, people gamble on these games too. But you hit it on the nail. And I want to thank you for taking my call. Thank you for John's retirement. The gentleman that coached for 30 years, these referees have a tough, but I'm going to go up. By the way, Derek, you're right. It was a very it was like a three point spread, too. That call cost Tennessee fans a lot of money. Yes, yes. And I'm going to not let up the review. Some of these coaches and I don't know what game they're watching. That's all I've got to say. I'm going to make a valid equipment defending officials because I don't think people believe it anyway. So everyone knows everyone's heard they do they do the best they can. I don't want them to do the best I can. I just want them to get it right. Yes. I agree with you 100%. And thank you for taking my call. Derek, thank you. Yeah, general Patton didn't tell his troops. Just go out there and do the best you can, okay? No. Go out there and win the war. And it's time officials start getting it right. And especially if you have a booth in a command center that will aid and abet you in getting it right, abetting might not have been the right word there. Keith is up next in Knoxville. Hello, Keith. Hey, Paul, it's been a while since I call it. I really haven't had a whole lot to talk about with Tennessee football. But I was in attendance with my family Saturday night at the old miss game and boy. It was something. What was it like? Yeah. It was crazy. And I want to say, first of all, I'm going to present one box say with by no means do I agree with what was done with throwing things on the field. But the way that the night went, it was almost like a perfect storm for something bad to happen. Between the terrible calls from the rest of four and a half hour game, people being there a long time drinking. The behavior of some of the old miss fans in our section was this terrible be it all missed in our section turnaround flipping us all blowing kisses of people. It was just an ugly atmosphere, even in the stands. So what I really want to talk about was the floppy. The saline of the injuries that prolonged the gains along in to stop a tempo office by the fall down. And it's comfortable ever going to do something to stop this. Keith is another great question. And I'll let it official or an SEC person try to address that, but it's a very difficult thing to know when the person is truly fatigued or hurt or whether they're flopping. It's a great question, though. Thanks for the call. Ron is in California. Hey, Ron, go right ahead. Hey, Paul. Well, I just want to you were talking about great running backs not too long ago and I want to add one more name and that sure. That's Charlie trippy from Georgia. "You can talk about the seven that we won, but the two that haunt me or the two that we lost. And don't don't ask me why it's that way. I have a lot of pride in performance and want to try to do the best I possibly can a Zico church to have the best program that creates by you for the players. I'm talking about value in terms of personal development, academics and graduating and developing careers off the field. Career development and and his football players. I mean, and I think that's one thing that people overlook about the program is we really do try to create by you for players, and I think that's why we get a lot of good players. That's Dave pointed out to me right there. If you noticed Devante Smith when he's up there at the end. Is where that patch on his jersey That's a graduate. So next Dave and put his money where his mouth is being like. Yeah, we're about championships. But on I think a lot of times we look at these coaches who we talk about sitting in the living rooms of these players and promising their parents that they're going to take care of him. And oftentimes it's it's Yeah, until I get a better offer to jump on to a better school. Only next table's going anywhere. Right? I think maybe that's one thing to that. This is these elite programs. I don't know if Davos when he's got that NFL aspirations, right. Some of these coaches get to college and they're using it as a stepping stone or they want to get back to the NFL. I don't know that that's happening. With some of these guys, some of these elite coaches, they get to the league or to the status of their at excuse me in college football, and these players show up knowing that they're not gonna go anywhere, knowing that I can come commit to this school into this coach because he's gonna be here because he told me he was gonna be here. I was thinking about when John Calipari was in Memphis memory by the way anywhere. John Calipari is getting sanctioned. He's out before he gets before he gets punished for right. So it happened in at U Mass. Right with Marcus Camby years ago, they gave sanction. He's like, Yeah, I'm going to the league and go to that to the New Jersey Nets. He's a bad room with the Nets. He comes back to college. He goes to Memphis. Thing on the final for the good of the national championship against Kansas, right with Derrick Rose, Mario Chalmers. It's a big three to beat Memphis in the national championship that following off season, that's when when all this stuff started coming out about Derrick Rose that maybe he wasn't in class. Was he not taken his s A T s. They hand down all these sanctions against the AA does to Memphis and John Calipari is like I'm out. I'm cruising to to Kentucky. Kentucky offered me a contract. I'm going, you know who was committed? To Memphis when, when John Calipari dips out John Wall DaMarcus cousins, Eric Bledsoe, three guys currently in the lead right now, who then move on to Kentucky. Ridiculous for Memphis. They follow Calipari to Kentucky. They go to a final four, and the rest is history. But you talked about and I know in college basketball. It's maybe even a little bit different. But college football the same thing. If you're a 17 year old kid, and you commit to this code, you want to know that he's gonna be there that you're going to get the playing time that you're a part of his plans. Beyond just this fall, right? So let's get to some Ryan Day sound here. They lose the national championship Friday, is rumored as a potential candidate for the Jacksonville Jaguars job. Right. So who knows what happens with him of urban Meyer doesn't take it or that's something he's not interested in. Maybe it's Ryan Day anyway. Ryan Day They asked him about losing this game and how covert was a factor. He basically said Look that we have made excuses all year. We're not gonna do it now. Some games being canceled, not being canceled. It just that's what it was. And you know what I tried not to do and what we tried not to do is focus on those things and have built in excuses. We just kept pushing forward, you know, not having guys available. And then, like you said, get into a rhythm. I thought going into the semifinal game against Clemson. We hadn't played our best game yet. And you know, we needed to play our best game tonight against Alabama. And and then we didn't and one of the honest statements he made here afterwards. I like this next comment here, and this will wrap it up for a postgame. National championship sound was Ryan Day, basically saying the mental fatigue is real right now. Hey, said these air, young men and they've been away from their families. The mental fatigue is real in 2020. And now 2021 Ryan basis. These guys, they just really need a break Right now. They really, really need a break. We need a break. We need to get away. Kids are the guys on his team need to see their families. We all just need a break. And, you know, we've already started to put together the the schedule for the spring, but but we all need to get away for a while. This has been a long long road. Guys, Mr Families and on they deserve time to be with them. And so we'll unwind. For what little while having opportunity to reflect on what this season's been and then get back into it, But I mean, you can't just go back to work here. There needs some time to rest and reflect again and I need some time to go interview with it with Jackson is like you guys take a break. I'm gonna get on a plane to go down to Jacksonville. Actually, they were already in Florida, right? Maybe just hops in the car because it figures that thing out anyway, that wraps up our post game stuff for the national championship. Just back to accommodate made earlier in the 504 checked in about the World Series trophy, and I was riffing on the trophy just saying yeah, as much as we didn't like the BCS. I always thought that trophy was way cooler than the C. F. P trophy, And then I was riffing on the Majorly the world seriously, bro. Physical. Tell all these flags man can we get you know a baseball this this texture of the 504 said. You know, you gotta make it about the game, he says. Yeah, make it about the game of baseball making a baseball trophy anyway. Oh, that he's talking about. Also, sometimes, he said, I must have woken up on second base, he said. Sometimes first thing in the morning is the easiest time to get on like that did sometimes sometimes first inning. You got to see a pitcher's Let him find the strike zone. Right? You can work yourself a walk, so Anyway. Thank you, David on the other side back into a little bit more of the NFL lot of the coaches yesterday do there Monday morning or Monday afternoon media sessions. It’s the same old story for North Carolina basketball in loss to the Wolfpack

"On sunday. We spent several minutes discussing a disappointing blueblood with the hall of fame coach kentucky led by john calipari today. We'll spend another few minutes on another disappointing blueblood with another hall of fame coach this time it's north carolina and roy williams the tar heels fell at nc state on tuesday. Seventy nine seventy six so now. Five and three. The other losses are texas in iowa best win over stanford ladder you and i both had north carolina projected as the third best team in the acc in the preseason. Are we still confident. Unc is a top three in the acc. No did i really have them third. I looked double checks man. it's not ideal right now. we both had it. We both had it. Virginia duke north carolina in that order. Well i didn't have carrots. So here's where. I differed in the preseason with some of the projections yours and and others. I did not have carolina ranked in the top twenty five portion of my one two three fifty seven. I i put carolina twenty eight. And i remember before like settling on an ultimate order like my first initial like. Let me throw everything at the wall. I think i'd carolina like thirty six or thirty seven and the reason was they were so poor last year. I mean historically bad. It was one of the five or six worst seasons in school history. Statistically that i was just. I wasn't totally sold on them. Going from fourteen and nineteen a season ago to being if your top. Three team in the acc You know that's probably a four seat at worst. And i wasn't all in on him there. I thought okay. Maybe they can get along the lines of a five or six seed and that was really what wound me wind up with me. Booting them up a little bit. But at this point you know. I watched the majority of that. Nc state game. I would argue. It wasn't even a three point game. Nc state truly beat them by six or seven points now five and three losses the losses all respectable so. It's an interesting situation with unc. Here lost texas in a really really good game championship. Which was obviously nashville. Then they lose at iowa but it wasn't that competitive ninety three eighty. Now they take the road loss against nc state. The win against kentucky and cbs sports classic has almost no value. The win over stanford is solid but otherwise charleston. Unlv north carolina central their next game at georgia tech a week from one. We're talking here. On december thirtieth so i think there is still the chance and with all due respect as always to leaky black here. And he's actually. I think he's. He's been good in spots but they're not as good as they should be. I still really love. The frontline is still think. This could be one of the courts in america but it should be noted fourteen thousand nine hundred last season. Now it's five three. And i'm not gonna guarantee you that this team is heading to the instability tournament and in the preseason. Unc got by on its jersey name. I don't know i. I was always a little hesitant there and some of that has come to the surface. This is clearly clearly not a top twenty five team right now. In north carolina as you mentioned the go fourteen and nineteen last season and the reason that i had them in the preseason top twenty five and one thought that they would have a really nice bounceback season because they in elite recruiting class featuring three five star freshman. The way they're supposed to go from fourteen and nineteen to really good is that three five-star freshmen are great. And they're all fine. I guess but none of them are playing like freshman of the year candidates like against nc state day. Ron sharpe had six points. Fourteen minutes walker kessler had three points and twelve minutes. Caleb love had eleven point four assists two turnovers in twenty eight minutes. Like if you're five star freshman aren't gonna perform like five star freshman consistently well. Then you're not going to go from from bad to to really good. You can go from bad to good from bad to respectable from bad to an ncaa tournament team. But you're not going to be elite unless you five star freshman perform at an elite level. They are not doing that right now.

Calipari seals lifetime deal to finish career at UK

"To the men's side Kentucky was bounced from its. Tournament this past weekend with the loss to Auburn. But John Calipari isn't going anywhere. He agrees to a contract extension at Kentucky deal that will see him finish his career there. Had been in contact with UCLA about its opening. The Bruins looking to replace Steve Alford who was fired New Year's Eve had been offered. Forty eight million over six years. He'll stay with Kentucky and Monday on his show on the UK sports network. They'd been talking to me for a while. Dwayne tonight sat down a couple of different times. And he says don't you want to finish your career? Why don't we just do something and you finish it here? And and so it had nothing to do with all the other stuff every year. Then I'm here. Something at the end of the year happens someone's trying to call or talker. And so, you know, it's. This is again, I mean, you think of this job that I have. You think of what we built the culture that we built here we've done it all kinds of different ways. The kids are we get good kids. The academics. That that were allowed to give lifetime scholarships that were allowed to bring these kids back that we we ensure these kids that this is a situation in a culture that's taken time to build and. You know, where else would I want to coach now people to call at the end of every year? They're there, you know, you get calls and. But the reality of it is this has been in the works for a while. And they presented it to me. And I appreciate it. I mean, I I appreciate the administration Mitch and Dwayne and Dr Kapela, oh, and you know, they're they're they want me to be here till I'm done coaching. And and it's funny. Somebody said a lifetime scholarship. I don't know what that means immed- could be two years. No, no, tell me what it is about. I wanna go get my jeans checked or whatever they do. But you know, it's the faith. They've shown in me. I appreciate it. I've let them know that and. In our fans. I mean, yeah, we have some crazies. They don't bother me. I mean this thing is about being up at bat every year with a chance to win. This is a unique place. I appreciate the opportunities. I've had here. And and you know, it's it's it's one of those places that you know, you have to want this to really be here, you can't shy from any of the stuff that goes on around his current deal Kentucky runs through twenty twenty four. "I don't obviously. But if I did because who cares? We don't care about the money because it's not our money. Well, let's make it your money guys. Would you spend three hundred and fifty million dollars? If feel competent about it on Bryce Harper. No, I wouldn't. But I do want to say thanks to listen to you make a lot of arguments there in the make a lot of sense. But you can't throw the he's never wanna playoff series, Adam. Because you're the one that's been a spa espousing for the golden bat thing there are many times where he doesn't even get a chance to win those playoffs. Series everything else in that sense rival, thank you drag. Well, that's the let's take that have ninety percent of what I say all the time makes sense. Listen. Traits usually fifties ninety. I mean, that's that's pretty good. But that's the problem dry. Problem with baseball. You're going to pay a guy standing Gundy said this yesterday, you're going to pay three hundred and fifty million dollars who comes up four to five times a game. It's ridiculous. And when he comes off you bats to forty eight it's absurd absurd. Absurd. I listen. I agree with you. And yet he's going to get it from somebody. As is Scott Boris, his agent says Harper's bazaar is now open. Okay. We'll see where that goes. All right. Let's go to college. Let's start in basketball for Zion. Williamson RJ Barrick camera Duke. Did it Kentucky? I have said Stuart's gonna make people pay attention to college basketball before we normally do which is after the Super Bowl. Yeah. It made us. I mean, listen, we've never talked about college basketball so early in the season ever in the history of our show, and we were talking about it yesterday because Duke stole the show they stole the sports worlds. I am Williamson. The thing about Zion. Williamson guys he was a YouTube sensation before this. So everyone knew about this. But to see play out against Kentucky article and to see that he's just not a dunker. He's the guy who has actual game. He has range. He has touched. He could distribute the ball. It is it is absolutely breathtaking. It was amazing to watch. And. Yeah, we're all going to tune into watch. These freshmen bly and watched it fifteen play at see if maybe if they can go undefeated. Maybe it'll be the best team ever, which is saying something when you consider the school. We're talking about it was amazing. It was fun to watch. They had made college basketball interesting in a way that it hasn't been the regular season for college basketball in a way that it hasn't been since maybe the fab five I don't know what the last time we were interested in a college basketball team. Yeah. Your rights. Do we we had this note today dukes go to one hundred and eighteen points in that debut? There were twenty NBA teams in action last night and they play eight minutes longer. None of them got one hundred. Yeah. Utah Utah was a crisis. They got one hundred seven Stu, and by the way, they did it against Kentucky, by the way. Kentucky. Jank John Calipari was sitting there with his laws look on his face. And I can't believe that coach K is now doing what I've been doing for years because coach guys going to do it better than I've been doing the thirty four point loss for Calipari. His worst ever as a college or NBA coach going to college football the first two weeks of the rankings. We have pretty much pick who they were going to be where do you see the possibility of a shakeup happening going in the next few weeks? Well, Mike, this is interesting. Right. And I have a question for you guys are related to college football. But this is interesting. So let's say Georgia beats Alabama in the SEC championship game. There's no scenario which Alabama is not getting it. But what happens there? So does Michigan get bounced out? Once Notre Dame get bounced out, Mike, I would ask you this because they put this committee together to have some sort of vision. Where does this not the four undefeated teams make it to the final four, Mike? Michigan played Notre Dame right now the debt are they neutral field who do you think would win that game? Who was the better to there is no way. Saying michigan. Everybody's saying Michigan would blow out Notre Dame Michigan has gotten better. So is Notre Dame? You realize Notre Dame did since that first game. They have a quarterback who leads the nation in completion percentage. Okay. So yeah, he's heard he's going to miss this game. We'll be back next week. So to say that all of a sudden Michigan with blowout. Notre Dame to me is ridiculous has Michigan gotten better. Absolutely. They've gotten better. But you asked me I've already said if Georgia beats Alabama they're both in Clemson wins out there in and if Notre Dame wins out there in and Michigan is going to get left out. Now, Paul finebaum went the other way. He thinks Michigan may get in over. Notre an undefeated Notre Dame team. I don't think that would happen. But then again, I'm not one of the thirteen that are that are picking that are deciding this.
