"It still dry in south america. It's not actually the last last week We saw some showers across argentina and the southern parts of brazil gonna continue with another couple of systems in the next week You know central brazil areas have the distinct wet and dry season and that typically starts at the end of september. Now the line nino pattern we've had you typically means a later start to bet what season across the higher production states of central brazil But model they're actually thinking. It might come right on time this year. So that's That would be something very unusual. Something we'll watch and But it's possible that They may lock out this year where they did last year last year Wet season started about three or four weeks late and if bottles are right then They'll come on time this year. We just had hurricane ida. It's and seems like this has become a very active storm season. Yeah the in the tropics that has been so we've already gone through. I Here across the united states. We had j k and l a after that as well so we got larry cooking up in the in the central atlantic. Good thing is that it won't be hitting any land at least here in north america. So that's good news but we do still have another couple of features. We're watching here. You know we're right at the the pico hurricane season in the atlantic right now so the next couple of weeks here. We're going to be continuing to watch some disturbances move off of off of africa. Move up through the gulf of mexico and see whether or not we can develop them systems. This year's been pretty good. We've had some really good Temperatures across the golf mexico across the western atlantic really fuel those storms so whatever we can get them up and running they they. They tend to take off our i john again. It was good to see you last week at farm progress. Thanks for joining us right. Thanks mike thanks for having you bet take care. Dt n. meteorologist. john brenick. We'll up next. We're going to get the latest numbers from the produce. Cme group egg economy barometer. Purdue aggie economists michael lang meyer. Mike adams hello. Everyone welcome to. Aol hope you had a good weekend. Thanks for joining us as we start another week. Lots to talk about whether big big story as we watch crop. Conditions john brenick. Dtm meteorologist will join us. Give us look at the forecast for the week ahead The united soybean board held their summer meeting last week made some big decisions on funding projects. We'll talk with a director with the usb. Tom oswald and take a look at that process that they go through and decisions. They made on spending checkoff dollars. And we'll get a rap on this year's kansas wheat harvest with justin gilpin ceo of kansas wheat. All that coming up here on today's program below started off with the news and joining us this week. From agra pulse is phil brasher. Phil good to talk with you again. We're finally getting getting closer to some deadlines on this infrastructure package we've been talking about seemingly forever What expect this week. Well good question. The majority leader chuck schumer set a deadline of wednesday You know have a first vote on this Bipartisan infrastructure package. Republicans are saying. That's too soon. They don't have it worked out So i mean. It's a little bit of artificial deadlines. They didn't have not starting to recess you know. There's not the end of the fiscal year. Some kind of cliff. So it's it's a little bit artificial whether you know. Why should we tries to enforce it and bring up a bill. That can't pass. It seems a little book out. That's where he's having deadline for vote. that Chuck schumer has You know it just They're running the risk here of running out of time or or not really getting much done and kind of we keep hearing this proposal. This legislation introduced this idea that we haven't really seen much follow-through or action yet right. Well you know the democrats in the president biden or one two things they want this infrastructure. That's bipartisan infrastructure. Package of the roads and bridges and broadband infrastructure and. Then they have all these other priorities including you know a lot of climate measures including Potentially even a lot of money for conservation programs but also Childcare free community college expansion of medicare all of this stuff three point three dollars you know they want to get this democrats up both of these things moving. Wanna get both of them done before august. Batons that is what the public on the other hand. Rather not see that three point five trillion dollars ever go anywhere. They have less motivation To act quickly. So that's That's where we're at the democrats really precious. They they wanna get totally saints moving. Get some resolution on this By infrastructure package so they can get their their bigger three point five trillion dollar bill. the floor. I always i'm reminded when legislation is introduced. There's always a lot of fanfare around it and it's obviously the key first. Step you gotta get introduced. Always reminded is a long ways from being introduced to getting it passed. So and meantime you can almost forget about some of it. That's been introduced Very important legislation like the farm workforce modernization act That was a house passed bill sometime ago. Where's that stand right now. Well that's all You immigration is an issue that There's a lot of the fastest immigration and they typically have to to move together. Because if you if your if your priority is legalizing the dreamers That's what you want to pass on the other hand From farm sector for farm groups and form advocates and farm workers. They wanna get those issues addressed. I'm going to get a legal path. Legal status for farm workers plus it spanned each each side and there are other issues. Well they all they all want to hitch you know. They don't want one issue to move and listeners also moves and so they get tied. They're very much tied together. and right now. Republicans are really resistant to moving anything really on immigration reform and You know there's talk about. Among democrats about possibly attaching somber immigration reform provisions including sumpter farm workers to three point five trillion dollar packages are putting together dot it big question about whether the senate parliamentarian would agree to do that through the budget which would process which is what the democrats are gonna have to use. Its partisan bill so there we are not really good prospects right now. Anything is going to move on the Farmworker issue we've it so many times when it comes immigration. If they can't do everything it seems like they wind up doing nothing. Even though there are some things doing yes they could do parts of it but they refuse to get caught up in the bigger bigger debate. And i think the key point you hit on earlier without a real deadline or a cliff You know congress just doesn't seem to act right and headlines don't mean anything unless it's go home for the holidays or something like that That's about the only deadline that gets their attention and gets them to move the government shutdown this government shutdown so This is this is just primarily urgency on the part of the democrats to get this infrastructure package going so they can get their other more partisan much bigger bill Moving so you know. What if if the bipartisan infrastructure. Package fall apart presumably. They will wanna then just pull that into their Reconciliation bill so but they don't wanna do that while there's still hope for the process so now that's where we are trying to chiba trying to force You know votes on wednesday whether you know whether he can do that. Have a why you'd want to have a boat pill but we'll see. I hope i'm wrong but this seems to be a precursor to the next farm bill writing it. I think it's going to be a nightmare. Yea could well be. It could be very interesting. I alluded to this Money that the democrats want to put into the To the three point five trillion dollar reconciliation. Bill senator senator add chairwoman debbie stabbing i to get fifty billion dollars. She's very optimistic about that. And that included. That would add a lot of money to the farm and actually you know really sort of reshape. The farm bill and it's a much more of a conservation Heavy persons commodity Title title one and We're we creates a lot of new issues Could be a very interesting process. Obviously you've gone highly partisan.

"And up and down a little bit of everything. Yeah and and you know you. You should probably expect that during a typical summer. right so Yeah it's been fairly typical. I mean most most of the areas that we need the rain though in the west bend just just dry and continued to be dry. The rain they get is just not near enough but for the rest of the country. You know it's typically what you'd find during the summer you get some good rainfall for a week or maybe even a couple of weeks followed by some pockets of dryness occasional showers moving through but for the most part. You're you're right. Most most of the growing areas is this year have been doing fairly well. Outside of that north western portion of the corn up. Okay you told us a little bit about to marry. It could get some rain this week. What about the rest of the midwest is coming week so that system moving through the northern tier of the country here Over the next couple of days will bring a cold front through the rest of the area. later this week into the weekend we kinda slow to move through the mid southern mid west and down to the southeast so we'll see additional periods of showers and thunderstorms build up your latest week into early next week As you move further south through the country again amounts are probably going to be fairly good. You know keeping up with Average or a little bit above Good one or two perhaps three or four and some areas That that could use it some. That kinda missed out on the weekend stuff and and a little bit from last week so Looking fairly favorable for rainfall as we go into next week across the eastern corn belt. Then you look at the west coast and you see drought and he and the east coast. You see flooding. Yeah that rich has been very stubborn out in the west. It's been strong and it's been stubborn. There's been a couple of Disturbances that have been able to kind of squeak through a couple of the weak spots. And that's what happened over this past weekend and what's going to happen here in the next couple of days. That ridge just will not give up There's a possibility that It may when we get into early. August where we kind of flip a little bit from a western ridge eastern trough to a western trough in eastern ridge. But that's going to depend on whether or not we can get thunderstorm. Clusters around You tropical indian ocean and western pacific flare up if we can get that to happen. Which models are suggesting will. We'll see the. He don't break down in the west and kind of shifted way to the east. Yeah how much. So i mean are we still looking at some really hot weather in the midwest or is this going to shape up to be a relatively mild summer. I in the eastern midwest. It's kind of questionable right now with that rich thing after the west. We're already kind of you know. Would you say behind on the heat. Potential for the summer across the eastern midwest but if we don't get that chance For the heat to return in august in early august you might end up rate at or a little bit below normal for the eastern midwest in terms of temperatures for the season. Yeah i mean. I realize summers far from over but for a lot of the midwest. We've been talking about well. It's going to be turning hot here for long or turning hot soon and here. We are approaching. Mid-july we're still you know. We're still waiting to see if that happens or not. Yeah the temperature that it's been trying but every time it does. He brings in showers and showers. Just been knocking them down Temperatures are still warm out there in the west they just have not been able to translate eastward that moisture's really cut it down. It's been it's been an interesting year. We're talking with john brenick. Dt dtm meteorologists. So john's you As you look at those dry areas The dakotas and parts of minnesota wisconsin even parts of iowa Y- you just can't break out of that pattern overnight. Obviously takes a long time and july august. Those aren't good times. be trying to break out drought. No that those are not in the summertime is not a time for the The typically drier parts of the country to get Loads of rain It's probably going to have to be fall or the winter time If we're going to see any breaks in the drought all right. So what else. Your long-term forecasts. I'm let you to look ahead to august. What do you see shaping up for august and so august. I think even if we do get the pattern change. We're still going to be above normal. In the western corn belt northwestern areas that remain dry and we'll see drier than normal conditions up there as well Towards the east. Like i said if we could get that heat wave coming in early august. That's probably the the best chance for heat. Otherwise we return kind of a normal or slightly below normal temperature profile for the eastern half of the corn belts here for august and our and you'd wetness likely okay. John thanks a lot. We'll check in again with you next week. Thanks mike take care john brennan. Dt in meteorologist all right up next. We'll go over the latest numbers from the purdue. Cme group egg economy barometer. Second month in a row that the numbers are lower. We'll find out Some of the reasoning behind that as we talk with purdue economists michael lang myer next also.

You're listening to a oh a adams on agriculture. Hi this is. Mike adams you can rely on us for the latest farm and ranch news from around the world information america's farmers and ranchers need to know on a now back to mike adams all right. Let's talk whether we had a mixed bag across the country. Some areas got some much-needed precipitation. Let's start there with john brenick. Dtm meteorologist john. Thanks for being with us What areas that really needed. Rain got some rain and thanks mike. yeah it was really eastern nebraska kind of western iowa and have been really dealing with drought here kind of increasing the last couple of weeks. That got it We also saw a lot of severe weather with the storms that moved through friday and saturday from nebraska and kansas kind of south eastward all the way in the western kentucky so A lot of lot of good rainfall in that general region lot of four plus inch amounts and there were even some Over eight in northern missouri on unfortunately that costs them flooding of around that area in the island in western illinois as well. Yeah unfortunately that goes with it especially this time of year You get these storms. You get the needed precipitation but As you said in some places there was storm damage yeah there was actually a really good Cluster of storms that produced a bowling segment as we like to call it. I'd have restroom south along. The missouri river through omaha caused a lot of power outages. Some of our Clients and some of our colleagues in the omaha area lost a lot of power for ins just came on this morning for a couple of those folks but we also saw that In western iowa we saw that and eastern zuri. We saw that in southern illinois. We saw it in a lot of places over the weekend. All right what areas did not get much rain at all if any over the weekend. Yeah it didn't turn out so well and is not as much as we wanted to in the dakotas minnesota northern iowa. There were some areas around there that did receive over an inch may phone but those were pretty sparse. Pretty much clustered right along. The south dakota minnesota border But overall there stay dry and wisconsin stay dry and so did michigan as well. Some of those areas have seen improvements and the drought but the areas in the west. Have not so they really need it. hopefully we'll get it with a storm system moving through here in the next couple of days There's a storm. That's going to be moving through. South dakota and then across southern minnesota northern iowa and into wisconsin tuesday night into wednesday and thursday. And we're looking at a pretty good rainfall amounts. They're probably one to to two inches of rainfall is is a good bet. We'll probably see some isolated areas that have more than that so Helping to put some relief on drought occurring in some of those areas. But we're still going to need more after that. Let's talk temperatures I know i'm here in west central illinois and temperatures for this time of year. Been down now. We have high humidity but The temperatures are certainly been lower than usual and here we are in july. It's a critical time for crops For the most part. We're not seeing in a big part of the production area the mid west. We're not seeing a nineties or coaching hundreds of or anything like that. Like we've seen some years past correct. Yeah so along with Especially the rainfall across the eastern mid west temperatures have been cooler because of that Storm systems moving through. Bring down a little bit of a canadian air than helping out with that. So yeah we've been enjoying more seasonable temperatures At least since the middle of june Then we had been in early june and even in may And you know what we typically see you know during the summer some better heat waves across The middle of the country here. We just haven't seen it just yet but I wouldn't say it's it's not gonna happen for the rest of the season yet. I think there's some pretty good chances. Especially if we get into the aug Of a heat will be returning over the eastern midwest you know other than the dry western part of the corn belt and the dakotas and that area. I mean they've been drive for a long time now but seems like much of the rest of the midwest. it's it's not been one dominant system. It's been kind of a mixed bag.
