"That was meant to become a pass. Play too tight end. billy. Joe dupree john benazech. Who was great in this game. The ban izaak bunch was going crazy. Tony panasonic poundstone at his own. Forty-seven to stop the drive turnover. Right away steelers. Get the ball back your thoughts it was. It was crazy cowboys where we're doing such a great job running the ball. Tony dorsett hometown boy against his hometown. Team he's just reading them and and even the steelers themselves were kinda shocked at the. The cowboys went away from that. Like joe greene said the easiest thing to do in football handed doggone thing off and went away from that and it costs them if cost them right away because after the steelers took over they were stopped onto runs than bradshaw went to the air and threw precision bullets in the light rain to randy grossman and twice to john stallworth. The second of number eighty two's spectacular catches went for twenty eight yards and a touchdown just like that. It was seven. Nothing steelers with nine forty seven left in the first the steelers strike first tony. That's big in this game. A huge never such a pretty passed by bradshaw. He hung up there but they really fold the cobwebs lynch once said he studied some tape on this in this particular situation. They always been on like a shorter route. So that's what that's what they faked and that's why star with wide open. It was a beautiful research by swan and great execution by by bradshaw stallworth. The coaches were smart. The players were smart. They did their homework. That rubbed off of chuck knoll. The players were selected for being able to do those things as well not just play but have minds as well and that was a hallmark of chuck knoll teams with the cowboys. Moving into steeler territory on their next series after butch johnson beat steelers quarterback ron johnson no relation to get to the enemy. Thirty nine the steelers. Defense d for nass white white captain america twice the force a punt. The steelers look to take early control with bradshaw completing consecutive passes to harris and swan but he made another connection wrong guy. D lewis from the dallas thirty. He halted the drive. It was the first ever pick thrown in a super bowl. His third if they score dander up by at least ten points maybe fourteen points and it would have been huge but the thing. I find funny about about this. The steelers had so much confidence in themselves as a team. When bradshaw was coming up smiling. The i saw left saying i don't even seem so i mean you know. They had confidence in each other and they weren't going to worry about this. At this point. You know we did the retro show for the steelers and the oilers in the championship game following this one the The next season and we talked about how the steelers lead the league with fifty two turnovers that year but they also led the league in points. They did turnover the ball on. And you would find out they will also as well in this game but it was one of those things that turn overs never killed this team because they had a defense that could force them but then an offense that could overcome that and score on a dime just like that and that's what the steelers would typically do. They were strong in every level. So you know they would always pick each other up and you look at the early seventies. How the defense dominated and by the late seventy s when they made the rules to enhance the offense the offense over but even though the defense restore really strong but the offense exploded so it was just a great team in a great collection of talent after four se. Another danny white punt the steeler offense took over and went looking for dinner again with good field position from their own thirty eight but bradshaw got rocked by harvey martin for a strip sack on third and six. It was recovered by dallas's ed too tall jones with a minute to go in the quarter starbuck looked to take quick advantage by finding drew pearson open in the end zone but donnie. Shell recovered and broke it up. But on the very next play the steelers blitz again and how roger. The dodger stood tall and located tony. Hill fifteen yards downfield forty yard score and seven seven tie at the end of one so the quarter expires. This looks to be a ballgame. Tony absolutely now outlets and now blunt who was covering drew pearson. You were so. He was so focused on him. He didn't see tony hill. Running passing it was. It was kind of funny in hindsight but the first tournament and cost pittsburgh but this this one certainly dig and dallas came back and tied the score. Well let's find out how much of a game it would be. And i know spoiler alert. It promises to be one. But we're going to do that right. After this on the steelers retro show be right back. Welcome back to the steelers retro show. My name is brian. Anthony davis alongside me is tony. We are proud to hop into that pittsburgh. Black and gold delorean and travel back to january twenty first nineteen seventy nine the dallas cowboys. The pittsburgh steelers. They're looking for their third super bowl win. It would have been the most in history at the time as this was the thirteenth edition of the super bowl. They were in miami. They played in miami three years earlier and super bowl ten. They're back at the scene of the crime wearing the same uniforms only thing. The steelers aren't wearing that that Special patch that they had worn in super bowl ten. So that's the only difference in this game. A lot of the players are the same as well. It's seven seven tony. In the second quarter the steelers were moving the ball however dallas doomsday defense. They were putting a lot of pressure on bradshaw on third and long from the steeler. Forty eight terry bobble the snap but it. However the botch gave thomas hollywood henderson enough time constraint. Hose arms to allow mike haeggman to take the ball away. It was thievery tony. He ran all the way in for the score just like that. The steelers quarterback landed on his elbow and there was so much concern about his health. And the availability of tb twelve more than the fourteen to seven dallas lead. What was more concerning you. Tony the fact that dallas is up just like that fourteen to seven or terry bradshaw might be coming out of the game. It had to be bradshaw's health at that point because as we talked about earlier and such confidence in each other both sides of the ball that that went the other up. But if you don't have your quarterback like brash one time you might lose with. You'll never win without me. If they didn't have him was it was going to be tough. So that's more concerning also his performance up to that point talking about three turnovers in a little over a quarter and two of them went touchdowns. And that's your nineteen seventy eight. Nfl mvp so i was his health and his performance. We when we watch these games. We usually watch it with the network announcers. But like i mentioned before i got to watch it with fleming and cope and you get more steelers century you get reports of what's going on. They don't really care what's going on. They're not neutral so they don't care as much as what's going on with dallas but you're getting to know more about your team that your watch you're listening to and they're painting more of a picture because you're listening to it on the radio so and so i'm listening to it and right away. They explained that bradshaw had a bruised shoulder but he was going to be coming back in so number. Twelve came out on the next drive and must have not been hurt too bad because on third down he rifle to fifteen yard. Pass to john stallworth. It looked like hey. They're in business but wait. He got some help from lynn. Swann on a block betty barnes. He beat randy hughes next thing. You know he's jetting. He's off to the end zone. The races for a fourteen fourteen tie just like that. It's a seventy five yard score. It was the longest in super bowl. History pass play at the time. The steelers have some luck with seventy five yard scoring plays. Because willie parker did it. So many years later with a seventy five yard run. John stallworth was first to do it. Without seventy five yard pass. Bradshaw had all the numbers in the world at this point because he just got seventy five yards per a ball that he threw about seventy eight yards down..

"Keith Willison and Don Band Zach and let's go ahead and look for our reserve. What do you think let's? Let's say no to Keith Gary. And we would be looking at Stefan to it and Ray Seals for the reserve, so live chat I five. Winner gets it. Is it going to be to it or is it going to be ray sales? So we're saying good to Willison Bana Zach, and let's get our reserve in their Tony. Who you picking these two to it or seals? Just for for again because he came along at a time. When I think he really helped. Bring the steelers back to the top of the mountain almost anyway. I'M GONNA. Go with ratios because Stefan historians not totally complete yet, he might be A. Hall of Famer when all said and done, so I'm going to go with. With Rayfield K. best out of five gets it. It's ray seals as the reserve, Keith, Willis and John Benazech, or are starters. Let's look now. We're going to do this here for defensive tackles. We're going to go ahead and take two defensive tackles. We're going to go ahead and take one nose tackle. Where we can take to nose tackles. Because there's a reserve. We're looking at the modern era. We're going. Nose tackles. So here we go and here it's a pretty good list. It's a smaller list. But number one right off. The Bat is probably a guy that I'm. Voting for. He was in the famed steel curtain defensive tackle. He had about forty career sacks in one, thousand, nine, hundred, ninety, four, nineteen, seventy, five, he even led the League one of those years insects. He had fifteen and a half. Arrowhead Ernie homes. He was crazy. Absolutely crazy. But. He's got to be on this list. Arrowhead what do you think? I have a confession. I didn't even look him up because I assumed he was inappropriate. That's how many that's. How highly everybody thought of that! He was on par with Joe Greene. In the early years I ll double check on white white, the great white make sure he made made the pro a couple of times, but Ernie homes I just assumed he was a pro. That's how dominant he wasn't in nearly seventy, so he's definitely number one on my list. Yeah. You know what he's I was shocked to. I did not think that. I would have thought that he made it. But you gotTa thank you all those other guys on the defensive line making it and not only that you had the purple people eaters in Minnesota you. The Doomsday Defense. Even though they were now granted, they were NFC teams. Also, the Doomsday Defense Los Angeles, Los Angeles the. Doomsday was Dallas Los Angeles was Gosh. I forgot I forgot the nickname careers enforcement force. Yeah, and so. That's my favorite, but you had. You had some great pass rushers. And Great Defensive Lineman in the AFC as well, so you know. I gotta say that's probably the reason. Ernie Holmes didn't make it. Because all those other guys on the steelers defensive line were making it. Let's go to Steve for ness. Another defensive tackle was also he succeeded. Ernie Holmes Ernie homes left in one, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty, six, after the nineteen seventy six season Steve for ness, became a starter on that Defensive Line Bana Zach did to. he eventually made their, but Steve furniss pretty much took over homes spot. Furnace thirty, some saks in pittsburgh was a pretty good player number four. What are your thoughts on the late Steve, furniss? I historian he like like Bantac he had you know wasn't easy. Following legend Ernie homes and trying to fit in with guys like Joe Green and Elsie Agreement on on a defensive line, and and not just fit in, but you have to. You had to produce, and he did I. Mean I I remember when the Super Bowl thirteen sack Roger, Staubach and he was, he was so intense about it. At Joe Greene of all people like you need to calm down that you could see him. Under failed told him to calm down, so yeah. I I love his story. He's definitely a contender as far as starter. Here's a guy that people don't know a lot about and was really good. Gerald Williams from nap navy, six to nine hundred and ninety four right. Right yeah I forgot about him, but he was. He was one of those players that he was a. he was a consistent starter and. He He. Assumed the starting role right around the time. We're steelers of the seventies. We're kind of all vanished away, and and it was just a whole new team. And he had he had to be one of the leaders on that defense, and he stuck around for quite a while if he was also. Here's a guy that was also transitional player. He played in the eighties. But. He also played on those early Bill Cower, teams and he was pretty special. Lot of people don't realize in nine seasons in Pittsburgh. He had twenty four and a half sacks. Yeah I didn't know that now. Of course, that's nine seasons in the averages about I mean a little less than three a year, but he was also playing nose tackles well, so you could actually put him in the nose. Tackle category if you wish. Gary done is a guy that I absolutely love. He could be a defensive tackle or a nose tackle. Because he crossover, he was there in nineteen, seventy, six to nine, hundred, eighty, seven, the switched from four, three, two, one, three, four, nine, hundred, eighty, two, so he became a nose tackle in nineteen, eighty two..

"Number Ninety seven always have fun memories of him in that era because That was a time when the steelers. became relevant again in the mid ninety s, he was a one of their first free agent signing. Notable free agent signings anyway, and you know He. He was a starter in Super Bowl thirty. Nine, hundred, ninety, four and nineteen, ninety five now. Some people have bad memories of big play ray sales because he was the guy. And it was a business opportunity I. don't really. I really don't have a problem with him. For doing this, but some people always bring this up. He was the guy who came up with. The. steelers during a video code sixty minute men, and they did it right before the AFC championship game, it was supposed to be there answer years later to the super bowl shuffle a video with the steelers and I've never seen it. I don't think it ever really was released now. Sixty minute men. Yeah mainly wants fifty nine minutes. I didn't realize he was the. Brainchild behind that but. I I can live with a I can live with. That I don't think that had much to do with anything, but obviously if you do something like that, and then you don't win the game people are going to get. We're going to find fault with you, but that's that's ethnic. Big He he made up for it the next year and then jerk holes like me. Come Out! And say and remind people of sixty minute man. X. Coda. steelers have some relevance in the nineteen eighties. They really did have some relevance. AFC Championship game in one, thousand, nine, hundred, four, a great run in one, thousand, nine, hundred, nine while. About three or four eight AFC DIVISION AFC Central Championships. I'm not sure maybe three. I meant after they struggled a priority bad from like eighty five through through the time. Chuck Noll retired and and you know when I say relevant I mean. Back to the super. Bowl AFC championship games on a yearly basis. You know the eighties were great, and that's why I love the show because one of the names. You'RE GONNA mention very soon as somebody that I'm. I just think she'd be celebrated more than than has been in steeler lower. Tony Darren Dalton says it the retro show. I feel like I'm not old enough to be here. L. O. L., we will get to your guys fact. We're going to get to one of your guys next read over insists sixty minute man is. Youtube watched a few times. I got. I got. As soon as this is over. Yeah going to do that. I love it. That's that's amazing. I can't believe it. I've never had a chance to see it. Oh, by the way it is pronounced an I appreciate that because we can't always do that. It's pronounced Exco Day. Okay Exco Tei. Pronounce it, right and hate I appreciate. I appreciate you disagreeing with us as well because I have no problem with anybody disagree with his I can't speak for Tony, but I'm wrong a lot, so don't worry about that. So one more defensive end here and like I said with a disclaimer at the beginning, you might be able to call him a defensive tackle I. don't he plays on the end for me? Two thousand fourteen to present. Steph onto it. Oh Yeah I. Mean I think? Historians, historic hit to be written, but yeah he's definitely I, mean he could? He could go on to have a a career. That's that's littered with pro bowls, but but as of right now it's quite obvious that the talent that's there and it's just a matter of staying healthy, but he definitely deserves to be on this list. All right, let's. To starters reserve. Well! I think we skipped over one. The guy that I really really love and that's the career Keith Willis nine hundred. Did because that's my number one. And what's to Keith Gary because area and Keith Willis were drafted in the same year. And and yeah. Fifty nine sacks I mean obviously the become an official stats nineteen eighty two, but I mean when he when he left here, he was number one time I. Mean I guess again. It's misleading. The fifty nine sacks is. A pretty darn good career for an undrafted free agent out of northeastern and and. He's why I love love. Things like this. Because you know guys when I say relevance I mentioned before. How the steelers became relevant in the nineties, well, the the seventies were hard act to follow as we all know, four super bowls and come along in the eighties and yet they made the playoffs a few times. They had a lot of lean years. They didn't have a lot of stars and guys like he's Willis. They overlook because you know it's almost. Better to have been a major contributor for the steelers before two thousand nine hundred seventies, then after the super bowl star, because now every players defined. Did he want super bowl or Disney, and if they didn't then, we kind of forget about them so. Keith Steffi my number, one starter on a defensive line, defensive, end, fifth, all-time, fifth, all-time, and steelers, sex and I'm GonNa, tell you this. On the official list, he's third all time because. Know on the official list. Elsie Greenwood and Joe Greene. Aren't on there. But as far as Keith Willis goes, I can't believe I passed over him because he's number one on my list. He's when number one guy and he is. Pennsylvania and he has a starting position on this team. Keith Willis I'M GONNA I'M GONNA. Do My bold statement right here. Keith Willis would have been. Almost a hall of Famer. If he played today, he would be a perennial all pro. He never made a proble. He was rat, good fourteen and twelve pack in two different years. That's that's pretty remarkable in the eighties. TIP FOR A guy. I think his his fourteen. Year sack or fourteen year with an eighty three joining a playoff run. That was many I became a starter, so yeah, he he he, he was just a victim of at the time that he played in as far as recognition. So. We've got four other guys vying for a starting spot in a reserve spot. Will it be Keith Willis John Benazech sack, seals, or Stefan onto it? And I know he wasn't here long. But I am thinking that I'm going narrow this down to ray seals and John Vanak. I'd have to my vote goes to. Ban is because he played on three super. Bowl, teams and Again he he managed to win the starting job in the late seventies, which wasn't easy to do to beat out somebody in the steel curtain. Live chatter. We call with that. Or we cool with these guys..

"Think you really? Messed up on the spelling here and she yells at me for them. So! Here's a guy on the list to. And so these honorable mention guys I'm going to go ahead and throw out there. and. We'll discuss some of the guys. That I consider finalists Brenston, Buckner, nine, hundred, ninety, four to nineteen, ninety-six and number, two draft pick went on to play a lot. The Carolina Panthers he was a defensive end here in Pittsburgh he played a lot of defensive tackle more in Carolina. He never went to a pro bowl and I. Actually thought he would have with Carolina and he did not. Then, you also have Donald Evans on the last nine, thousand, nine, hundred, nineteen, ninety-three, a big free agent up from the Los Angeles Rams. Tim Johnson. Had A great career with the Washington Franchise. He played from nineteen, Eighty, seven, nine, hundred, ninety, nine out of Penn State. You've Edmund Nelson who went from nineteen, eighty to nineteen, eighty seven. And, I'm going to throw and Tom Beasley defensive end from nineteen, seventy, eight to nineteen eighty three now. Are there any of those guys on the list that you feel be finalised? His I'm putting them in as honorable mention Tony. I was thinking about that now I. Think I think a Lotta guys? Are you know they they? They had great? They were great contributors like Like keeping Henry with the great Read on the net that very important game ninety seven against the Patriots in New England. Every, he he, he read the the quick running back screen that they kept running on the steelers. He he he diagnosed. Pick it off and let come back and overtime victory, so I like him I think the all these guys are great on the honorable mentioned less. So that's also a Guy Tony that we are going to end up. Excuse me. That's a game that we're going to end up talking about in the future in the retro show as we look back on some great moments in steeler history, and we're going to cover that for an entire show one of my favorite games. That December nineteen. Ninety seven game, and which was actually a very bitter sweet day for me because. I started out with that game and I was all excited because I had a date that night and it was going to be a fantastic day. That game had me all pumped. I feel awesome. I was actually a little bit late for the day. It didn't really ruined the date because I ended up. You ended up okay, in fact I ended up marrying the woman, but ended up being my ex wife with at first date and so. So, it's bittersweet so I. When I look back, I believe was December thirteenth I'm not mistaken of nine hundred, ninety seven when I look back on a that absolute date I'm thinking that the Patriots game was more important than anything. It was just an awesome game. What a great comeback! I've watched that in the last two years and I'm GONNA. Go ahead and watch that game, so we get again, so we can talk more, but let's talk about these defensive ends. It's gotTa start out with the bunch. He was a Cleveland browns. Fan, his parents. His Dad was actually mad. The he signed with the Pittsburgh steelers as a free agent. John, Bananas Zach, Nineteen Seventy six to nineteen eighty-one. I he's. He definitely deserves to be a up there because I mean he. He was valuable for them in the late seventy, especially that seventy nine season when they had so many injuries is ever going for their fourth super bowl. He he was very very valuable, and and and as you mentioned, he was a, he played on their three super bowl teams, and and you know it's not easy. It wasn't easy to break into the steel curtain in those days, and and and he managed to do it. I Love I. Love John Benazech. My first number when I played football when I was eleven, I was number seventy six, and I was all proud that I was wearing Bana Zack's number. And you know everybody wanted the numbers of everyone like seventy five, and they wanted twelve, and they wanted thirty two I was when I. They gave me seventy six and I'm good with that. I'm really good with that. Here's here's one, and he could have been on a honorable mention list, but I thought. He had a pretty decent career. The steelers in a lot of people don't realize it. He was a number one pick in nineteen eighty-two. He held out that entire year in fact. A playing for the Montreal that's in the NFL, and then made his debut with Pittsburgh in one, thousand, nine, hundred, three from nineteen, eighty to nineteen, eighty-eight, though Keith Gary. He's you know. He said he was a first round. Pick out of Oklahoma or Nebraska Oklahoma Oklahoma, one thousand, nine hundred. And he and he went to Canada for two years and he came here. He had a really good first year eighty-three. He kind of told off after that, but he he had a pretty decent career here. He was a starter for a number of years twenty five sacks so. He definitely deserves to be a attention for the for the. For Star Starter. Here's a guy. That was only here for two years. Here's a guy who had five and a half sacks in Tampa Bay before he came in came here in five seasons in two seasons in Pittsburgh. He had five and a half sacks. and. He was pretty pretty actually. Let me rephrase it. I think it was eleven sacks. In Tampa and eleven in Pittsburg if I'm not mistaken. Only here for two years did not go to college. In fact, he played semi pro bowl in ball in Syracuse. Big Play.

"How you doing after one show. Oh good just. Don't give me out too late tonight. GotTa Work Tomorrow Coming. Come back and sit in the same season seat and new work but instead of podcasts. Yeah I gotcha I gotTA give a shout out and I hope you don't get mad because she's like. Oh man she's like you. GotTa give me a shout out on the show but I just hope rich doesn't get get jealous The shoutout is from our sister or not from Ershad is to our sister. The sister that is in between us in age group So you're younger sister. Both both our sisters are my older sister but I got something for her in the mail for my recent birthday that I had A week before the draft that I I had to give her credit for it. So there's no no she she's an antique or she buys all she buys old stuff and she might have bought this three years ago and finally got around to give it to me. She actually had an autographed picture of John. Benazech for me for my birthday that she forgot to give me for like four years because she had. Because it's how she is but this is what she got me this silent if you if you could see it. This is a hand-drawn sketch of Ben Rothlisberger from his rookie. Gear in two thousand four. It's even numbered. It's number six two thousand so that she got an estate at an estate sale so I thought that was pretty nifty but I am catches shout because she's going to get some crap from arose she said. Oh maybe should. Because she's rich. Got A card out. Put anything in. Apparently she's sitting on a goldmine of mushrooms on her property. I can't get her to say the got to got to clarify that. The right kind of much. Not that much of a gold mine if you know what I mean. It was funny because I told her. I said how much does Jarrett. She's talking about a gallon and a half ziplock bag for us up here. Folks are selling those same things for like a hundred bucks for a Gallon Beck like but I don't yeah I don't want to sell them. I WANNA eat them but I don't even get mushrooms. I can't even. I can't even get fungus for my sister birthday. And she's sending you Ben Rothlisberger sketches and whatever you sis. Hey you know what you gotTa Yeti microphone for your birthday for me. I don't WanNa hear it what. That's that's how I don't know if I've I remember the last birthday card. I gave you good. Even worry me think is sent him anything. Yeah Yeah that's it. That's nice and you know what what's really good while now. See that's tough because see see. You don't have to feel like you have to think for me for my birthday because you're birthdays. You know just under two weeks ahead of mine so then then you just kind of see how it goes. But I didn't even say that your microphone is free birthday. I said it's for helping out with all the podcasts so but that was interesting to for that. I wanted to have that my background when I was over in the other room and had my setup I I I. It didn't fit on my shelf because it was so large. But it's a pretty interesting sketch. So yeah thanks this. And now we're four minutes into the show we can. We can move on to the check now at some point we we're going to have to do a non football related thing but let's get to this topic. I okay because we promise we would for anyone. Who's watching the The draft shows. I actually mentioned something that I was GonNa do. And the draft show at the back that St the steelers picked up ten undrafted free agents immediately following the draft. They do it every year. Kevin Colbert. They might not have as many as past years. Usually it's around fourteen or fifteen or so. They signed a lot of xfl guys. I think the reason that they did that might even be Kinda smart. Which I alluded to with stuff with the current Global pandemic going on. It's really hard to get these rookies. I mean normally rookie get drafted. I get on the phone. We got stuff there on a flight. The next day to Pittsburgh tore everything. That's going on this time. You know they're not going to get nearly as acclimated as they as they have in years past so obviously not having a first round draft pick there might be teams that are struggling to get them up speed in time for the season of assuming that everything Progressives in a good manner that we can have the season on time and everything like that. We'RE NOT GONNA get into that debate right now so but we do not for the time. Being things are off the rookie minicamps. Ota's things like that. A lot of this being done. Virtually so these players are going to be doing a lot of learning but not much on the field activities so the the steelers going with less undrafted free agents and maybe more. Xfl guys guys that have more experience might not at. This might not have been a bad year to do that. But they did sign ten. They signed ten and and the question always. Is You know most of the time you're like in other words the Land Williams. It's a dash guy. It's a guy that's just filling in which you know what the steelers have those Dash Guys. Those dash guys make the team sometimes. And sometimes he'd come. Starters Ramon Foster was dash guy. Mike Hilton was a dash guy. James Harrison wasn't even the steelers Dach- guy. You understand what I'm saying. So you get these players so you don't want to just completely dismiss it but at the same time there's at least one player on here that people were actually surprising to get drafted and the steelers got him. So that's the kind of players that you want to be looking for so if you look at these ten players we're going to do one that's a category to himself. That's like the not even like I had three in building order of who I think had the best chance to make the roster. Here's my honorable mention because it's an all or nothing. And that's only because based on his position and that is the steelers brought another partner. We brought in another potter. You know they have to long snappers. They have to punish only one placekicker this year. Bozzetto great year nor reason to hold the competition and have a roster spot there. But I do like that. They have another punter. His aim is specifically corless weightman. He is from South Alabama and Mississippi State. I don't even know if I think I might even hurt. He didn't even punt last year in college. That these were numbers from the these are from a couple years ago. So he's got a chance he's he's got a chance if he comes out and booms but he's also got a chance to not even make it to camp because if there's a free agent punter up there. I know that Colquitt got and with and with his dad almost. I didn't say the first name because I was afraid I'd mess up his dad's name because of because of his father playing for the steelers back in the day. Who's to say that there could be a reunion air of the family? But I'm just not going to say they're okay if they're going to get worse as they need to go get Dustin Dustin Colquitt so there was some positions that were interesting. There's another defensive. Lineman that sealers picked up. The could be interesting. If I can remember the out of Kentucky that could just as easily been drafted in that seventh round spot as what? Carlos Davis what. He's another honorable mention. Do you have anything you want to say? You want me. Just go ahead and run your list. Okay I have the steelers. Other ten of their ten picks they had one one specialist seven defenders and to offensive guys. They brought in a second fullback from Auburn Yeah there's two more two more practice squad squad positions maybe the steelers. WanNa keep another fullback since they didn't have any last year when it's went down. That would be really his on my route to anything but the other ofensive guy was an offensive lineman from two lane. His name is Christian Montana. I messed it up Montano. I'm pretty sure he is a center. Slash Guard projected. He even played some tackle because they bumped him from senator tackle. He's out of two lane but look more interesting than that. He's a two lane is a graduate student he had already graduated from Brown and went as a as a as a graduate student to lane to transfer their so like he already graduated from an Ivy League school. So that's pretty interesting right there. But he's out too late and six four three hundred pounds. He is a center slash guard. I don't know if guide make the roster but he is someone who would be specific to look at to see if he could stick in practice. Squad do just like the smart Ivy League guys Fuck you well. Yeah I mean hey much. Six four three hundred pounds. That was almost my size and and I understood because I was contacted by a number of Ivy League schools about playing football. Because it's really tough to get guys that big that have the GPA sat scores to get into an Ivy League school? The problem with I wa. I didn't go to an Ivy League school to do. That is because they don't offer four five scholarships or at least they didn't back when I was there because of it being Ivy League so that was just way up there so that was my number three number two. I have is John Houston inside linebacker out of USC. He's got a chance of just as much because of his position that he played six three to twenty. If he comes out really shows something he could be the fifth inside linebacker or he could replace. Roberts Blaine I still don't know that the steelers are done with inside linebacker. I could see them bringing in somebody else between now and August and I'm still not ruling out. Mark Baron coming back for a much cheaper contract that position it could be. That could be looked at that way so he was my number two number one and I think everyone knows this one. Because before the draft he was projected as a seventh round pick and then he wasn't drafted. Is The cornerback for Miami. Trae John Bandy if I say that right don't offer not what's interesting about him. He's five nine one hundred eighty six pounds. He's these thought of as more of a nickel corner. He's only junior. He came out early and did not get drafted but and he was he was like for. Cbs sports he was there number. Two hundred and fifty seventh rated player so they had him being one of the top two players not taking the draft because there are two hundred and fifty five selections now. There was other players at weren't drafted players were lower than that were drafted. I think that's interesting because the steelers generally keep ten defensive backs and pretty much the top five corners. I think are locked in the only question is are the steelers GonNa keep six corners and four safeties like last year or is it going to be five and five. If he plays well enough he could give them a reason to go six and four so or he could be that guy. That's on the practice squad or he could be. That guy that was picked up didn't do much it doesn't even make it past a preseason game or two because they bring somebody else but honestly for me if it goes to making the fifty three man roster I think he mainly because he part a lot of people thought he would be drafted has has the best possibility. And there's one other reason.

"Is interview on Friday was Benny snow. He was he kept my really well. They're really confident really cares Matic. And and you know, I mean I liked him. Connor and I like, Jim San was this kid that'd be he could be a like a breakout favorite among the fan base. Sooner rather than later as far as the guys who came today. I don't know like I know a lot about them. But you know, here's things that Holton as far as the speed and his his special teams abilities. But we We are. are things about other players like him in the past two. So you know, I'm I'm not going to get to excited. You know? I think once we see with these guys in training camp, then than, you know, learn some some a fan favorite credentials right now. And it's let these guys. Let let the rest of the center for I'm making a judgment on any of the guys that that you know, they signed over. We don't really know don't know a whole lot about any of those guys yet. Well, here's my perception of the little that I saw in the little that was reported. First of all Devin Bush is coming in like a leader already. He's calling calling signals. He's you could tell that. He's coming in prepared. He just seemed like the guy, and that's exactly what we want Justin lane. Well, now just the only one that has not signed his deal of yet. Don't worry. He's going to. I mean going through the guy the guy changed his bathroom for the Steelers. The guy had a Cleveland Browns bathroom, and which I can't say anything because I have a Steeler stuff through my basement in the man cave. It's completely gold walls stuff all around. I mean, it's a complete Steeler bathroom. I did have a little. On the toilet. That said Raven's nest. You know because it was a toilet. It just seemed right? And I once had a sign on the toilets and said, if it's Brown flush it down, and I look Cleveland helmet on it. It was a homemade sign. I should really. I should really have that that thing made. But. That would be good idea. Anybody wants gift ideas for me have a really nice if it's Brown flush it down with the the Browns helmet on it. That'd be perfect for my toilet. With that being said just lane had a really cool Cleveland bathroom 'cause longtime Cleveland fan is like no it's done. We are not Cleveland fans anymore. And this reminds me of a very famous Steeler story from way back in nineteen seventy six and the two time champs drafted a man named heard them heard of them number seventy six John Benazech. Oh, you remember that guy? Hey, especially I mean, he's he's still around in in the Pittsburgh area. Longtime coach great player for the Steelers. In fact, I thought he made that he made that defense even stronger when when he came in and became a starter on the team, but anyways band Zach was like he was not drafted. But he got a free agent deal with the Steelers and his family was upset because they were from Cleveland. They were longtime Cleveland fans, and like he's like, yeah. I gotta break this to my dad. I've got to go ahead and let my dad knew that. I I went to the enemy, and I guess it took a while. But I think after two Super Bowls later, I guess they were all in black and gold, but Justin lane that huge huge Browns fan, and he's like, son. I'm with you. I mean, so he's he's putting all the Brown and orange away. Join in the Steelers so feeler nation. So Mr. lane, we're glad to have you. And can't wait to see what a son does. But you brought up any snow junior. And his words when he I loved his interview 'cause he didn't cocky whatsoever. He seemed confident but wasn't cocky, but when he said, hey, it's just Benny smell football. They're like what is still football. Any explain where it was? And I I.
