"And he's focused and he's determined and he works hard and he comes out here. He competes and it's been a really cool situation to have zack. Justin we also have kyle. Trask and these guys get out here. Every single day and we have k. Castillo as well the stanford transit mississippi state. But these guys get out here. And i mean it is just a competition every single day and you can see why a guy like justin fields was able to play on such a big stage. You can see why when he goes in a playoff game versus clemson. He wants that he wants those moments. And it's been an awesome experience for me to be around him to be in the film room to get up on the whiteboard and talk through everything you know. The team that gets he brings to the table. What is the one thing that might have surprised you about justin upon meeting him. I did not know that. Justin had a background in baseball and just very athletic guy like you watch him on tape and you just see this strong powerful like so hard to bring down in the pocket. I was so impressed. When i got to talk through with him. What he was going through what he's having to process within his ability to make plays and he just looks the part of a guy that when he walks in the locker of your alpha. That dude just looks apart but it was so cool for me to know the back story of his life just how involved he was in baseball baseball. I played to me right off the bat that just as a coach i see. Wow there's so much i can do with that background. All these guys that come from Other sports immediately you know. Oh my gosh if he has this background. Here's what i can do if he has this background. So it's been really cool to know that about justin in push him in some areas because he can make those off script you know sliding left the tough throws because of that background that he has and so to me. That was a really cool thing to figure out and then apply that to our practice building some of our workouts for guys like just builds. I had watched him through these last couple of years. I knew about and when he went to georgia. But i don't have that interaction with until he gets here and just watching the way that he approaches things. He's already approaching things like a true professional. He's here early. He asked to get extra time in you know he gets an opportunity to to to prepare for his interviews. he calls me on the phone. And says hey. Can you help me kind of prepare. This offense can you. Can we go over this again. Because i want to nail it. I love more that baseball conversation. You know but to me. It's a positive right. There's a lot of positives you take from that and we talked earlier. You mentioned matthew stafford and you talk about cuyler. Murray and baker mayfield baseball but to me. Let's go back to. John elway for crying out loud. This is not a. It's not a bad thing to have that baseball on your background. I think john beckett good job explaining that explain it and i think the bigger thing was john belk talking about the alpha personality. Justin feels displays. When he kind of walks into the room he walks in with a level of confidence that you can tell. He's an fleet guy. He doesn't shrink The fact that they are working together with a bunch of notable quarterback wilson. Couch rests caja kostelic..

"It's a really weird semi flashback. Here for the punisher say nam cashback. I mean if you didn't already know his deal you'd think he was just spacing out in about kites micro is they didn't have the music you just be like just thinking about kites happy place you listening to me. He's like god micros going on a rant again and he just didn't do killers family. It's all implied. My wife my wife choked on my wife jo on the straight. You didn't get or i guess. We got strangled strength. Got strangled strangled is outside choke inside that makes sense. Maybe it was a kite runner situations. You got like knifed. God we're gonna rip on. John belk a lot in this episode offers shitty acting but i love the line read for what he says wrong wrong. He's it it's excellent. That's exactly what i've in this to fight monsters then they. They show a clip of the twin towers like. Oh no. we're not allowed to remember that why wasn't move on. I mean it is a little bit of foreshadowing. I really don't wanna talk about it so. Nc as they transition to show you that there at the airport that's very clearly reused animation from the chameleon episode those are the very beginning of the chameleon episode. I think we used it as one of our Title guards naked under the trenchcoat. Wish i was wondering the same thing. He shows a lot of chest and they never really show whether he's wearing pants. It's just darkness under the trenchcoat for the legs and then mariah asked green your ceremonial accounting. Wait he no. He only wears that. He's definitely wearing socks like the guy who bangs with socks on black dress socks. Tell whether he's wearing khakis or nothing under their new year's a shot him getting off the plane before he makes act. What is actually a pretty good little joke here but then you could see through his trenchcoat like those legs go all the way from here to there just what he wears on airplanes. Just a trenchcoat. it's way more comfortable. Just free ball in it. I think that's a crime is is the nineties. That's the way to get through security. The fastest just be naked. Just be naked when no metal detection. Just walk through the airport trenchcoat. That's it so does he still have his powers he doesn't because he goes on a little bit of a awkward tangent about how he lied to not have the super strength of a scientifically created madman anymore and they starts calling her calypso. Mike calypso justice. Shitty joke does the on hans without his main. I took it more than just the barest forgot six pluto tummy brocher ceremonial hunting garden. "In the NFL Pro Bowler TJ Hirschman Zodda foxsports NFL analyst also works out with a lot of these guys knows his stuff. You know. I'm looking at this stuff and I'm looking at. All these players you've worked out just in Herbert. Let's let's let's re address this. You've worked out with Justin Herbert you like him a lot, right? Physically if. I've never seen before you. He's big. In his arm is just unbelievable. You would have to see. You can't even put it like I played. I've been around all the best quarterback I've never seen anybody physically. Throw the ball like he does nobody Joe Berle. You worked out with him. Yeah. What do you think? I like Joe Joe is a super confident. and. What really sold me was the last couple of weeks it was raining almost every day. I don't think he'd do one bad ball and rain. Everything was on the money, and so joe is on. Be a really good quarterback. Just temperament is confident and it shocked me in the rain. Everything was on the money. Would you make it to as tape and his pro day on film? So, what physically a talented player just the injury history! I'm any tower. Hetty not been hurt. Shinjo borough would have pretty much been fighting for that number one spot, and they probably still are I thought it was impressive considering. just having surgery when he did coming back from a hip injury. Putting network into a super super super talented is just a matter of is his body got hold up. Our pro as overrated. Fro Days are holding rated in okay. I'll give analogy. and. We'll just talk quarterbacks for distance. If, we have a final final exam college professor. Let us take the test through to four times we should. scorning on that final, and so that's what's going on especially with quarterback is. They practiced this pro day time and time and time again with the same guys that are going to be running around so when it's time for the product. They're going to perform well because they already practice. They've already taken big Zam before actually taking the exam, and so it's rehearsed. Georgia palm would have run. JOE's product Trent would've run in had ran to as pro day, John Belk and those guys they did run Justin Herbert's pro day and so. You're you're taking exam for to actually down? What was your day like? Pro Day was a number one. It was it was different. At Time Oregon State. We didn't have an indoor facility, so we went. Outside ran the forty. It was freezing cold. went back inside that the jumps and that was it no routes in so myself Chad and a couple of other receivers. We went up to US's pro day. they wouldn't let us work. Also the coaches. We went down to Dorsey High School. Reject the field in the roster. They all came down here. How about that? The receiver just on film and I think there's a bunch of good ones. But when I look at Gerry, judy an icy, his explosiveness, his first four five steps. It doesn't even look. He's pulling away from lsu defenders from Georgia guys from Auburn Guys I look at him and I think he's so much better than everybody else. What do you see having played the position for a decade and pro football. It's not a millette people in on a secret, not seeing any some some, though this some good trainers. Judy number one was she was fortunate. He's trained with some guys that know what they're doing down there for it I will say that he's the guy he's trained with. Those trainers really know what they're doing. The key to plan receiver is not as I four steps is his ability to decelerate his ability to stop and put his foot and ground. She does that better than ninety percent of the guys in the NFL now. Like his ability to stop. Is. Unbelievable, he could be celebrate. He can stop with the best of them, and that's why he creates so much separation. Is there another receiver. Let's take Michael Pittman. At USC not a burner I told somebody I a GM on the East Coast Call Me, today. Any he said WHO's your most underrated player in the draft? We were just joking around and I said you're gonNA think I'm a homework, because I live in L. A. I said I think Mike I watched Michael. Pitman's Dad, he was tough as a five dollar steak and I said Pittman. Tough kid, he walked onto US's a true freshman, and was a great play making special teams guy. He's gotten better every year at USC. USC Several Years has had great coaching. Take Michael USC. What you? He's not a burner. What do you see? Man so I guess I could be called a homer to I'm privy to Michael. Pittman because I just happen to be working with. Talent is exactly what man. Pittman is a worker. When I tell you the worker, he could have one leg and he'll call you and be like. Go workout like he got a root canal. In the morning and we worked out two hours after. A root canal, and now what is prize for people like underrated Pittman can decelerate. He's big. He's tough. Pittman is going to play ten years in a league because he can do what I just said about Judy. She can decelerate if you can decelerating create separation. You'RE GONNA. Play in the NFL that's it's about it's not about how fast you are. Can you stop? Can you stop like a Ferrari or you? Stop like a car when they screech goes. If they make that much noise when they stop not going to be successful, you need to.

"He's only I mean, he did live up to be the number one overall pick a tremendous talent, but how many pressure packed every game is going to be important and everything he does. It's going to be a focal point of the media in Los Angeles. I'm curious his personality with that team. And then if you're bringing in somebody else I don't think you're bringing in Cairo. But if you do that would be an interesting dynamic to see what happens with Anthony Davis there. You know they're talking about Kemba Walker. I know that the Knicks were looking at Kemba Walker to pair him with Kevin Durant. But that was when Durant was healthy. If you get Kemba loves the ball. Who else can you bring in, in Los Angeles kyri ball dominant? Those those are not guys. I want as my point guard, but they're trying to see if they can restructure this deal and give them a little bit more salary cap. You have cap, Allah gist here is much as I want to give credit to rob Pelinka and the Lakers that you pulled off this deal, a deal that you had to make don't you have a cap, Allah gist, who says, you know what if we make the move at this point, or we announced the move at this point, then we could save some money for another big time, free agent doesn't anybody factor that in. That's what a cap. Bala GIS does. I think it does feel like managing the math, managing the dollars might be more important than judging the talent seems like most people could judge the talent of the people you bring in and out, but managing the length of contract, the shifting of money would be. Most important franchise. But that's somebody's job. You have somebody whose job is the salary cap. And if you're saying, boy, if we announce the trade now or in a in a week from now, then all of a sudden, we can't afford that next max player. I mean that, that's a big mistake here, and now they're trying to unload everybody they can you take walkathons in the NBA in college. We'll take some walk on, because the Lakers may need some walk on here. Isn't that why they want? Someone was telling you, they wanted second round picks can squeeze him in under some. Yes, they're gonna try out LeBron Anthony Davis and second round picks. Yes. And I don't know what they're backwards going to look like but you know other teams have had this, the Miami Heat had this before where you have players that may not be ready to play, but they have to play and that could be the case with the Lakers here I had a few phone calls. Let me see Darko in Florida. Hey, darko. Doing, sir. Good pleasure pleasure pleasure to speak, the TV on when the Olympics and stuff. But I have I have I have to defend my fellow native dot ca millages, because. I think he did not get enough playing time as exemple, Nicola would've each or or Nikolai yorkies, because I, I don't think which of each was better than than militants in his prime the only competition he was Ben Wallace Cialis. And that was kind of thought and they're not going to try to a rookie like that. But I think if, if they give him a paternity that he would have shown everything. In the reason why he was number two pick over. All right. Well, thank you Darko and glad you're sticking up for your fellow countrymen. He didn't get a lot of run in Detroit because that was a veteran base team. But after he left, Detroit, what did he do when it wasn't that wasn't the excuse? Yep. Great question. Dan, a couple of years later on Memphis, when he was starting a starting center in a league seven points, six three K sleep. Yeah. All right. Dave in South Dakota. Hi, dave. What do you have for me today? Hey. Five ten one ninety five. Hey, I just want to talk a little bit about the netting there. I know I've been to Chicago Cubs games, many times over the last few years and new field scoreboard. They have they're actually drop a net during batting practice for that and raise it up during the games. So it seems to me that if they've got the money to protect asset like why would not do it down the baselines thoughts on that? And I still think that you and thank you, Dave. I still think that you can have the intimacy of going to a ballgame go into batting practice. Maybe you get a ball. Maybe a player comes over and signs an autograph. Those were very important things to me when I was growing up you don't you don't have to remove that from the game just because you put up protective netting. If you have the capability of doing this allow the fans to be able to be close to the field for batting practice and chances are with the cage, you're not gonna get screamers down the line, and you're able to have that relationship with a player or players game starts you raise the netting. That's all. It's all it is. I've never heard one person say. They got protective netting behind home plate. I, nobody says that you accept it. And you appreciate where you're seated, when's the last time you get stuck with seats behind home great? We got this net in front of stink. Oh, it will be the new norm folks. Trust me. When I say, this will will look back on this and only gun, everybody was so Ben out of shape. I mean we used to not have goalie mask. We didn't have catcher's mask. I mean we we evolve we evolve soft then apparently catcher's mask now. I mean, come on. You can't have netting. We should all get hit in the head with a screaming liner. Come on. We're soft as an Asian. No. You can put up the netting. You won't even notice it after a while nothing softer than protecting your children know apparently Sean, in California. Hi, sean. What do you have for me today? Hey Dan, they wanna talk about bus. Okay. Two thousand seven QB draft class might be ne- worse quarterback draft class in all of Bill history to Marcus Russell one and I'm a raider fan. So that's still hurts. Brady Quinn the twenty second overall cannon Cobb John Belk Stanton. Trent Edwards third round and then you have choice Smith. More names of their class ever. Yeah. You're pretty parched with quarterbacks there. Thank you, Sean. Yes. Second rounders, though. Nobody counts at why. No. But Brady Quinn, jamarcus, Russell is the, the Alzheimer their trend Edwards in third round, I don't think they're around is a flyer on QB. Don't you, but, but even a second? They win an entire drafted out a legitimate legitimately good quarterback polling. Yes. Kevin Cobb Trent Edwards. Penn true Stanton, jamarcus. Russell Brady Quinn, Troy Smith, John Beck. And that's based on total career. Touchdown. So the star of that draft is Kevin come. I'd be curious if you looked at drafts and the most like touchdown passes out of draft. I get that. It's probably eighty three but I can get it. You think that Marino Elway Lear, Jim Kelly? Yeah. Blackledge little time. But these modern drafts are going to blow it away because, you know, breezes got if I look at breezes and he went second second round that year. Right. But that was when Michael Vick went. But I'm trying to think which draft would have the did you see where Brett farve said that his Instagram was hacked? And I think farve is what forty forty eight forty nine and talked about a comeback. And I went no, no, no. Don't do this friend. No, no. We're done. In any said it was hacked. Yes. Mclovin two thousand thirteen quarterback draft. I thought it would give it a rub. EJ manual, Gino Smith. Mike. Lennon, Matt Barkley Ryan Nassib Tyler Wilson Landry Jones rats Horsens Zach dice, her Bj Daniels guy named Shawn Renfrew yadda Duke, the last one. And. Well, each manual, remember we all like. When when he was done. I said somebody going to draft him in the first round and they did. And then people go, you said he was going into the I, I said, I didn't say it was going to be good. I said he's going in the first round poll. I think the two thousand four draft would be your leader in the clubhouse for career touchdown passes, Philip rivers, three, seventy four Ben Roth sixty three. Ally. Manning, three sixty and they're all counting, then you've got guys like Matt shop and all that. But, you know, drew Brees has five hundred himself who else was in that draft with Brees, nobody a bunch of nobodies because Vick was in it. Yes Vic second with one hundred twenty two passes and then a bunch of nobodies, no other quarterbacks went in that draft that were any good checking. You have a breeze has five Hyundai. What about Peyton Peyton draft? And I'd Ryan leaf and I don't know who else breezes draft class got Brees with five hundred twenty touchdowns Vic with one thirty three if anyone can name the third best quarterback on paper. In two thousand one draft. He was a shocking pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the second round. Not Carter Carter win thirty two touchdowns are boy, seems Roosevelt's fan of the show thirty touchdowns. Didn't we see Quincy Carter at the airport? We do too. Were you guys with me? At baggage claim, I don't know if. Why, why are you shine enough picking on him just saying that we think he's working there? No, no, no. He was getting his bags. He didn't make that much money. He only played two years. I think he played in the CFL didn't he? Quincy Carter out of Georgia. There were some bad draft simple. But then you got a draft. Here's one that's kind of the draft. You got Aaron Rodgers. Alex smith. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Matt Cassel Kyle Orton everyone. Everyone of those guys through one hundred or more touchdowns in Rogers has three thirty eight. So their numbers pretty good. Yeah. But I'm guessing that. The four where you got almost a thousand touchdown passes there with those three. And you still got alive playing a little bit you got you got Philip rivers. You've definitely ended up with over thousands. Mclovin one here. Good one. Okay. Oh, eight you got Matt Ryan who's going to really get way up there. It's going to be a whole fame. Probably got super wanted MVP win the Super Bowl. Probably top three or four all time in passing. His are gigantic. Than Joe flacco. Improving chad. Henny. No, you can't be okay? Jedi. Yeah, he was. You know those big shots there. Josh johnston. Didn't he have nice game for the Redskins last year? Is that the same Josh? He's not gonna play again of Kansas state. Yeah. That. No. I don't know if he was at that wasn't a good wasn't a good draft here. Make lousy sandiego states in maybe it was Harbaugh. Right. San Diego still. Okay. Yeah. How about this draft? You got. Two thousand twelve draft Russ Wilson one Ninety-six touchdowns. Andy luck, one hundred seventy one Kirk cousins one twenty nine. Ryan tannehill one Twenty-three, Nick full sixty eight and counting Bob Griffin. The third forty two and you got a bunch of. Players last year, by the way or whatever darnold Mayfield Rosen. Those guys are going to rack up modern NFL. You assume they will. But because they're young. It's the fact that everybody can throw for forty touchdowns now. Yeah, yeah, I got a bad draft two thousand thirteen hold, my beer, Mike, Glennon leads the draft class with thirty.

Michael Garron, eight of the one hundred fifty seven people killed in yesterday's Ethiopian airline. Crash were Americans people from thirty five countries were killed president. Trump is expected today to release his budget that will request at least eight point six billion dollars in new funding for the construction of a border wall in the NBA the Knicks lost along with the warriors in the NHL the capitals one the Bruins lost global news twenty four hours a day on air tick tock on Twitter, powered by more than twenty seven hundred journalists and analysts in more than one hundred twenty countries. I'm Michael Barr. This is Bloomberg. John, michael. Thank you, six twenty odd. Wall Street hammered line for the Bloomberg interactive brokers studios. I'm John Tucker. This is Bloomberg daybreak. Let's get you set up for the trading day and the week ahead. Now, joining us in New York is John Mkhori. And for Bloomberg news in Beijing replaced have managing editor Emma O'Brien in London were joined by top editor, Sarah Marley. John. Let's start with you the second deadly crash of a Boeing seven thirty-seven max in five months. How important is this plane to the company's future, very important. John. And of course, what it story like this. You always start with the human tragedy. One hundred and fifty seven people have lost their lives as Michael just reported. The focus is on Boeing seven thirty-seven eight max, and it's the second deadly Chris as you point out. The stock is down almost nine percent in pre-trading and the concern. Of course, is that this could affect orders going forward for that jet. Right now, the projection is that the company was going to me have thirty billion dollars in revenue from that jet this year and ramp up to as many as fifty seven such jets each month that it would produce this year. And should there be a cancellation of orders? This is going to dramatically affect Boeing Emma their immediate reactions to this crash. What are they China and Indonesia have come out saying that they grounding the max plane, which is a big blow? They may not have expected such a Swiss reaction, particularly from such a significant market as China. It's a potentially huge money spinner for buying and buying locked in a real fight to win orders here with the Chinese travel market tip to be the world's largest in about a decade. So this does count as a real blow with this this this grounding of these planes on short how long it will last. And it covers all the Chinese airlines, including the big tree at China China Eastern, China, Southern which I at least thirteen old run at least chain of these planes, h Indonesia, of course, that's where the first max eight crash happened. So probably not hugely surprising that they've grounded them as well. But definitely do. I had a lot of these Maxine all right, Sarah, next to you or other story a gloomy assessment. What else breaks it exactly it? Just weird. Eighteen days to go and no closer to any deal between the UK and the EU that the house of Commons will accept so we're primed for another vote in parliament tomorrow evening, London time on maize deal. But since nothing has changed since January it's expected to be defeated just as badly again. Okay. John. Let's pick it up with you. How long is applause the fed chairman Jerome Powell on sixty minutes last night? That's a good question. John it certainly is for the foreseeable future this year, it could you know, it's possible that there could be a rate hike late in twenty nineteen. But what I was struck by the interview was that the fed chairman was obviously looking at the global economy in that what he saw as a a slowdown in China and Europe, and even mentioned Brexit is something that could affect the global economy. And of course, he's right there. So even though the US economy remained solid as he said the fake clearly is on pause for a while now and that they're going to keep the over. Lending rate at the two and a quarter, two and a half French. All right, Emma, back to you. In Beijing news about tesla this warning. And guess what? It's not an easy Lon musk tweet. That's right. That tesla is said to be in talks. We see Chinese battery giant CITEL about supplying the factory that they're building close to Shanghai seen a lot of speculation about who would get this prize of supplying tesla with batteries to the modal threes they plan to produce out of the factory, which is as I said stealing construction. It looks like C H L maybe out there, which is significant because tesla has relied heavily on Japan's Panasonic batteries. But tesla has taken a lot of Chinese help. When it comes to the factory China has made a big show of supporting tesla and its plans to set up manufacturing on the ground. So this may be if the deal does go SRI pot of that choosing local battery supplier Sarah back to you in London if the OPEC lost control of the oil market, they're trying to get back in the driver's seat. Right. Yes. Saudi Arabia's is very much trying to grab hold of the. Oil price and we've seen a Brent features up about one point three percent. This morning on news that Saudi Arabia is going to further cut its its supply. They agreed last year with OPEC that they would pump. No more than ten point three million barrels a day. They've they're doing coming in well below that at well below ten even and maybe not even filling orders for seven million barrels. So we've definitely seen some action from Saudi Arabia and finally John Belk to you here in New York. President Trump releasing a budget blueprint today. It's not even close to being balanced is it, no it's not broke with Republican orthodoxy and said that he has an expected balanced budget for fifteen years, typically, Republicans would try and balance the budget within ten years as we know most budgets are balanced in the US. Anyway, the book proposed budget is basically a political document the other big headline outside of balance is he wants eight billion dollars more for a border wall with Mexico with the Democrats in control of the house that is not likely to get pissed dead on arrival. Can we say, I think is appropriate McCurry.

"And if you're watching us on Facebook live, you can also post your questions and comments right there on our page during the broadcast. Now, here's Brian main John Bagnasco and tiger Palo FOX on the garden. America radio in media network. And just like that here. We are another Saturday morning. I'm Brian mental tiger Pella FOX John Bagnasco for those of you are back east. It is Lebanon six year in the west coast, eight hundred six we hope you have a good weekend. And yeah, some people down south tornados happening in the past couple of weeks or so prayers and thoughts go out to them and even tornado warning from what I understand the in one of the states down there this morning too. So here in San Diego the last couple of weeks, nothing, but rain, I think we're going to dry out for how Long John Monday Vick big rainstorm coming in Monday. I can't remember the last time we've had this much rain. We're at least we didn't have a couple of weeks in between. It's like it's like we got a couple of days, and boom, it's fine. It's fine. This is good. It's a rain saturate rain saturate. Floods reported. I know of yet. I truly feel something at don't say that any listeners northern California. Underwater. Like, I truly feel them. The cities have been doing some really good prep work. You know, they've been maintaining the drainage systems they've been, you know, making sure that all the overflows are cleaned and ready to go. Because like like you say like usually when we have this much rain here in San Diego. We we do see the effects of it. But it hasn't been too bad. So that's nice. What's unusual? I think this year is the way that the rain came not all want usually we have one week of rain all at once. But it's been spread over months. So it's worked out real. Well, what Monday last Monday, they started grading my property where did you get an A or B? Right now. I think it's the plus, but they're supposed to finish. I think by next Monday. So things are happening. Things are happening. A lot of probably still isn't a reality to yet. Right. But this is one step closer. Because once the gradings done I can actually move roses from my house over two minute. You're you're legally right now. No. But I'm saying after the grading you can do it. Now, it's not legally it's just that I'll have a place to put because if I had brought him over earlier in a bulldozer. Yeah. My wife would say just push him into that whole over since they have some heavy equipment. There you bring it over any loads of soil amendments having them just kind of move around for you to not l amount. Oh, you guys got to move that mountain now. I'd like to see take a picture of your property. Do you have any idea? What it looks like if you been there and tiger. I saw a picture. I saw co picnic a lot. Well, yeah. When he showed us pictures of where the shed was. And then there was a couple of other pictures, you showed of the law. But definitely have you know, it'd be neat to see that grading. Good. To come over anytime. How far from your current location? About three miles. Okay. You're just down up a road or down the actually closer to the freeway. So to be closer. Now. How the neighbors Nazar buddy happy now getting along. Nobody likes Hatfield mccoys shooting at one another. No neighbors are fine. Okay. That's actually the guy that that remodeled. My house before we moved. Before we sold it. Bought the property right across the street. And he's building a house there. Really? So so my son has been helping him with chipping some avocado trees and cutting and he'll help us a little bit. So that'll be nice. Well, that said walk in the garden America, we do this every week at this time six after the hour, and again, Brian main John Belk NASCAR tiger Pella. Fox good to have you along wanna give us a call anytime during the show for the next couple of hours eight five five four two four nine eight to five John Gardner, America dot com. And of course, John's Email address if you want to say, this pictures, what is going on on your property. Your backyard front yard side yard, whatever bears animals plants. We'll take a look at it and posted someplace, and we have a busy show this one. We haven't done this in a long time to guess today. Just because it's starting to break into spring, right? There's going to be a lot of activities happening. So we want to make sure our listeners get the most out of our show. So this morning, we're going to have David Keene from the Los Angeles seed Bank. Their seat exchanged group up there in LA that basically is trying to make sure that they preserve varieties. Heirloom varieties for generations to come. And then we have Scott digger with tomato mania. And this is a a group that moves around California, and they have special tomato events classes events seminars. And they also sell tomato plants at these that are mostly heirloom varieties that you won't find in most kind of retail centers and things like that. So we're going to have them on later in the show. We're really excited because lots of good info coming up speaking seeds. I applauded our last podcast that we did last week. So those anyway here about twenty twenty five minutes of seeds. You can go to iheartmedia. Download the app, but John puts the Lincoln the newsletter. I took that link from the news later on our Facebook page. So it's everywhere now night just click it you'll see a big list of very shows. We've done the latest one is on seeds. Some people watched it last week Facebook live those that didn't can go back to Facebook page, and then check it out and get some great information on seeds. It's that time of the year. I haven't been paid for that. By the way, you will. I was expecting checks in the mail expecting some seed money. You were just talking about tomatoes tiger and Denise from Mississippi. Yes. Was was nice enough to send us note that about John Denver song homegrown tomatoes. Right saying that we should play and we need to and we would be happy to, but we're not allowed to not allowed to because a Facebook live at all has to do Denise with licensing. And they have algorithms that go through there. So if I do play a song they will pull this off. But John has agreed to sing it. Yes. No, no because it would be indecipherable. And there's no way the through that could get by. Yeah. You do have quite the voice voice. Okay. Here in San Diego. People tuning in AM twelve forty Mission Hills nursery, what are you guys doing? Now. What's happening at the nursery are most nurseries. This time of the year Tigar well for the western nurseries. They're gearing up we're we're spring. So we've got vegetables coming in every week. We've got the Perennials and flowers coming in every week Rosenstock fruit trees aren't sock. All of that stuff is gearing up right now, we're kind of ramping up with all of that fun stuff for spring for those of you that are in the, you know, Easter or mid under snow, you're still holding out. You know, as we all know, you know, we we expect those people to not be gearing up until my mother's day, exactly. Or at least planting until mother's day usually gear up a little bit before then. But you know, so so lots of fun stuff. But one of the things that we talked about with Melinda Meyers last show was just you know, the soil. Up. And so a lot of prepping a lot of fertilizing a lot of organic fertilizers and going out the doors for people that are getting those beds ready to do this spring planting or to be starting some of the seeds in those vegetable gardens, and so on I'm not sure if we upset people who are back east and through the midwest, we talked about getting ready for spring and things are happening. And they'd say, oh, not us not to mother's day. But we're a little ahead of you because of the weather so on and so forth. So we're not trying to rub it in just talking about what's going on here. I think if they're gardeners, they're happy. They understand. They should be happy for us. Right. Good way to look at it. John. Let's see anything new this year is tiger that people should let this changing. That's. That's what I saw the newsletter. So we're going to lose an hour tonight because we're going to bring forward, right? Yeah. It seems like it happens earlier each year. It's daylight savings time happens earlier and vice versa. I think this is about the same time as last year. Used to be in April. I thought. Used to be different tastes anyway. So gear up for that. But in and then there's the thought process on why we do it. Right because he never did figure that that goes back to the farmer's years ago that needed more daylight, correct? That's what everybody says. But I don't think it was the farmers, and then not only that like electricity and all of that stuff back in the day when it was hard to produce. And they're saying oh would save us on having to produce so much electricity and all of that. I don't think I was electrically. I think it was candle candles. Yeah. Okay. Sorry. Early save on. So we just kept it daylight savings time all year, which I know we just passed. Well, we passed a law right at the federal government right now. But we actually just passed a law in California. We didn't pass a law. We just passed the ability for the legislators to make a decision on it. They can keep it at daylight savings time with your now it's up to them now. But even in the wintertime, it was a tax Bill. We wouldn't they? Approval. They just go ahead and do it. Anyway. True for something serious. Like changing the time know, then they have to have permission. It is sixteen minutes after the hour. Get a break coming up here. John your quarter the week. Can we get that in real quick here? Okay. The quote of the week is by Tom Vilsek who used to be the secretary of agriculture under Obama. And he said, I don't care what anybody says nothing is better than a tomato you grow. There's something about it. It's different than tomato. You can buy. It's a great thing. And he is absolutely correct. Yes. Okay. Break coming up here in just a very few minutes. We're going to be back with our guest. We have two guests this show with this two hours with our second guess next hour being our guests will be Scott dagger with Tamayo mania. Okay. And coming up soon as David king right into tomato tomato maniac should say March fifteenth through the fourteen. Okay. So that said don't hear the music, but we do have a break coming up. So we're going to step aside garden America coming. Right back studying a.

"We're back with a walking talking football encyclopedia names Florio, Mike Florio, and this is pro football talk live. RG three get a little snarky about the team that made him the second overall pick in the two thousand twelve draft team that gave up in all three first round picks in the second round pick to get him. As to the news that Washington had traded for case keenum. That's definitely what the fans want. It said RG three Robert Robert, let it go, man. You haven't played in Washington five years. Let it go move on with your life. Yeah. I don't think you let those things go. I think that's sticks. Forever. I kind of like this let it all that money. All that money. They paid him over those years and all the I don't know. Maybe I look I'm Italian I hold a grudge forever. So it's hard for me to really quibble with RG three on that. Yeah. And you think about that game against the Seahawks with that turf? And your knee, just, you know, bending all kinds of ways, I would definitely hold onto that forever. So good for Robert Griffin. I'm actually happy. He's doing stuff like this, maybe a little passive aggressive. But I'd rather than have him. Do the motivational quotes that no one really believes in the and turf is is putting it as kindly as you possibly. Can. It was it was rocks and sand that they painted green people who walked on that field after the game their shoes turned green from walking on the paint that they use to make it actually look like a football field. All right. So case keenum is going to be the guy running around on that football field this year, this one this one surprise me because I didn't think the Bronx. Ios would get anything for him. Keenum was due to make eighteen million this year seven million of it fully guaranteed with offset. Meaning that first of all you're not trading the contract as is you cut him. He's still making seven million dollars. So from keenum's perspective. Why should I agree to a trade? I'll just wait to be cut. I know seven million is what I'm gonna make this year. The only question is how much of it will Denver be paying, but they threaten the needle. They found a team that had a need for a quarterback that they could get cheaply because the Broncos are going to pay of the seven and a half million that keenum will make this year Broncos. Japan's for Washington gets keenum for three point five that the trade compensation is meaningless a sixth rounder in twenty twenty and they get a seventh rounder back from the Broncos in two thousand twenty keenum gets an extra five hundred grand over what he was guaranteed to make. This is a win for everybody. The Broncos get to trade him. They get something they reduce what they're going to pay him by three million Washington. It's a quarterback who can compete with Colt McCoy, I like case keenum, case keenum gets his seven and a half million. And. I think he could end up being a decent quarterback this year in Washington. Big cat. Okay. So you said it was a win for everybody. I don't see how it's possibly a win for anyone in this case because the Broncos when got Joe flacco who is middling and average and going to lead the Broncos to six seven wins and a middle of the first round draft pick the Redskins got case keenum who is middling an average and gonna lead the Redskins to six seven wins and a middle of the first round draft pick. How does anyone win here? Mike, this that makes sense these quarterbacks aren't that? Good. The fastest way to die in these leagues is to get a guy who's just good enough to win a few games, but not good enough to get to the playoffs. And just good enough to get you out of the top of the draft. Like, this makes no sense. The Redskins the Redskins unless they go get Josh Rosen tomorrow and say, he's our future in case keenum is a stopgap here. And we didn't want to totally. Punt on this year. It makes no sense to bring in case keenum and win six or seven games and wind up exactly where you are right now. I mean, first of all all all parties were in a bad situation. I I call it a win win win because they were all lose lose lose. It was bad for the Broncos where they were with keenum. It was bad for Washington where they were with their quarterback position. Because Alex Smith can't play this year most likely, and they are a lot of money tied up in him. They didn't have money to go out and try to get Nick foles or anybody who's gonna command more than five six seven million per year. So they get a guy who can and I think keenum can play. Well, big cat. He swept your bears has an seven. I can get it done. Mike. I wanna get a lot of teams swept your bears thousand seventeen. Listen, John, FOX bears were not. I was a case keenum believe right? There are quotes out there where I said, it's case keenum going to be the new core. Kurt Warner where he's a journeyman who comes in. And just started lighting the world on fire and he had that four year with the Vikings. He caught that lightning in a bottle, case keenum is case keenum and by that. I mean, he is exactly what we know. He is he's an average quarterback. He's a fine quarterback. I would just feel a lot more comfortable with case keenum as my backup who has to come in and save a season than the guy. That's the start week one. And you know, it's just not going to be a playoff team. And it's also not going to be a two win team. So what are you doing? What are you doing with case keenum? You're basically saying we want to give the illusion of contending and winning games. Without actually, you know, committing to contending and winning games and tomatoes bear the Redskins are furious. What are the other options, they had no other viable option? Bottom out bottom. Them out. I mean bottom out Goget Josh Rosen drafts like figure out a way to get a quarterback in this draft. I just don't understand teams that keep doing this where it's like, hey, we're going to get this guy kingdom warning at Joe flacco, case keenum, we're trying to patch it altogether. You saw case keenum's basically his peak, and it was on a very team friendly deal with the Minnesota Vikings within elite defense and to up and coming stud wide receivers. That was the perfect storm when it comes to case keenum when you have to pay case keenum money when you have to pay a cap hit. It's not worth it. It's kind of like what Nick foles gonna when we get to the Nick foles thing whenever he goes. Nick foles is not going to be worth what he will be signing for. He is good on a on a short-term cheap contract, and you can win with that you can win if you if you invest in other positions, but the minute you have to invest in a quarterback that you know, is not going to be great. That's how you die in the NFL. But do we know Nick foles isn't going to be great. I mean, everybody says Nick foles isn't good, but he's a Super Bowl MVP. He, you know, he he keeps winning games when we expect that he can't I I don't know why there's this general belief that foles is bad. When you look at the guys out there making north of twenty five million in that range between twenty five and thirty million a year. You've got Derek Carr, case keenum, case keenum, Derek Carr, Kirk cousins, I get them mixed up Kirk cousins Jimmy Garoppolo Matthew Stafford those guys have never wanna playoff game. Nick foles is taking a team to the top of the mountain. I don't know why there's this thought big cat that the guy isn't any good. I think he's pretty damn good. And I think the Jaguars are going to be happy to have him. He's good. I'm not saying I mean, Nick foles is better than case. I'm not sitting here and saying Nicole's good. But when you look at the NFL, and how everyone has their teams constructed the best thing you can possibly have in the NFL right now is an elite quarterback on a cheap deal. We that just obvious that stating the absolute OG. Patrick mahomes. The second best thing you can have is it a lead quarterback on an expensive deal because you'll pay for talent. That's Aaron Rodgers. When you go down the list. The worst thing you can possibly have is a guy you don't fully believe in a guy who you're like, he's good. He's good. I don't know. He's a Matthew Stafford you're going to pay him a ton of money, and you don't fully know if he's gonna be that elite. I can carry a team to the Super Bowl. And that's I mean, that's what teams do they make mistakes I've seen it. This is going to be the actually like the big conversation with the NFL going forward is these guys who were drafted right now who are young will some of these teams start walking away from them and say, hey, we're gonna actually just build around a cheap quarterback get the coach that can basically be the QB whisper and get the most out of the talent. And not just sign a check. Because that's where everything is Joe. Flacco was signed a check Jay Cutler was signed to check like Matthew Stafford all these guys they just get the check because you don't. Let someone who may someday be okay walk out the door. And I think that that's just the wrong way to think about things. But the problem is the supply isn't good now, maybe the pendulum is swung to the point where because NFL offenses are more willing to adapt college concepts that we are seeing guys who come from college into the NFL at the quarterback position play better. We saw five out of five first round picks last year at least pass the eyeball test for the rookie seasons. Who knows what those five guys are going to become but you can't say any of them are bust based upon what we saw last year. So maybe you're going to see team say, you know, what instead of paying a guy thirty million a year who isn't Aaron Rodgers are Patrick Mahomes. We'll just draft a rookie who we're going to pay twenty seven million over four years to that may come at some point. But the bottom line is before you let the bird in the hand go, you better be damn sure there's another bird out there that you can get that was the reaction last week when the news came out. It was a report from I think it was Bleacher report that that the raiders were shopping. Derek carr. At the scouting. Combine. I poked around a little bit to see if that was true. And the message that came back to me from Oakland was basically you can't let car go unless you have a damn good idea who's going to replace him. And at this point, what would the raiders do if Derek Carr is suddenly gone? That's the problem. And I think there's no quicker way to alienate a fan base than have a quarterback who is regarded as good enough. And then nobody while you try to figure out what the hell is going to happen. Then you become the two thousand eleven Indianapolis Colts where you're Curtis painter in between Peyton Manning and Andrew luck. See this is where I disagree because you just actually kind of checkmated yourself there your Curtis painter who led to Andrew luck day with ninety bad. I know. I know it's rare. But you just proved my point. Case scenario. Okay. But I'd rather have Curtis painter to Andrew luck. Then case keenum for ten years case keenum like quarterbacks for ten years where maybe a couple of years you go nine and seven or ten and six because you get every bounce and you win maybe one playoff game. I'm just talking about from fan's perspective. Eventually will you said is right. That the fans do wanna be sold that you have like some ability to contend. But eventually you're just going to get blood out over time. You're going to get to the point where you're like, this is never gonna work. We'll keep doing the same thing over and over. We keep finding these stopgaps and keep finding guys there were all kind of about an end. That's how you you lose. I mean, look at the Washington Redskins quarterback say I wrote it down, Mike Mark Brunell, Patrick Ramsey. Jason Campbell tod Collins. Donovan McNabb Rex Grossman. John Belk RG three. I'll put an asterisk on that because he got hurt Kirk cousins Colt McCoy, Alex Smith, guess what name fits in that group. Case keenum. Let me ask you this. Mitchell Trubisky do for new after this year, or at least young are you comfortable?.

"The writing before the novel's before the world sake. But Arthur tales that part that become part of the fun of America discovering its frontiers. The gold rushes a moment enter this. I'm speaking to John Belk. His new book is American fun. Four centuries of joyous revolt. Mark Twain, formalizes what are just walkers. John. And I we have time for one spectacular wop or the the the sack of flour. I think Mark Twain talks about it. Everybody refers to it. What is it? And how did it form the fun of the frontier? Well, the the the sack of flour. This is one of the most noble hoaxes and pranks you'll you'll you'll find in the west because in in one of the the Virginia cities. Nevada in early. Eighteen sixties neighboring towns there was a mayoral race. And the with most things in in the west back, then there was a a. Deal in a prank between the the two competitors. For for mayor that the loser would have to walk across town with a this fifty pound black bag of flour and a win the loser. Did this dutifully he at the at the end of his walk of shame. He auctioned off the bag of flour for the for for two hundred and fifty dollars. Dollars right for the the sanitary commission. I think it was called which was this non partisan help organization serving both sides of the civil war. So regardless of where you stood in a civil war. You had to be behind the the sanitary commission. And so that in itself brought people together so he auctioned off this this bag of flour for two hundred fifty dollars and someone else outbid and and auction did again. And so they they kept auctioning this this bag of flour until they raised something like eight thousand dollars in the original auction. Thank you. Eight thousand dollars also gives you a sense of during these silver rush. Dave just how much money people had to squander for things like this. And we're just enjoyed the the the sort of frenzy of spending their money for this cause on this ridiculous sack of flour. So when the the sack of flour, then traveled to Virginia city, they were so burned by how much their neighboring town could raise for the sack of flour. They tried to outbid it. But they could only raise five thousand dollars, and they're they're public. Shame was was severely. Ding divide us and long story short this sack of flour procession of the sort of guilt wagon with Mark Twain, several other people on it made its way throughout the website where all these little mining towns, and it keping auctioned off again, and again, and again until it finally arrived in San Francisco, and then ultimately made its way across the country to the I guess the San Francisco the pardon me, the Saint Louis. Agricultural fair, and it raised something like two hundred fifty thousand dollars at the end of everybody enjoyed telling stories, and that was fun for them as they were on the frontier, they also did a lot of dancing. What John's book does is it recreates original more moment with Morton and Winthrop, and the the clash of how do you live in America, are you formal and buttoned-down or do you live for the day and take a day off now and again and clearly Mark Twain was in both both camps. We need to mention however, simultaneously with this wonderful tale of tricksters, and how much money we have and living wild we develop Jim crow. How is that American fun? Oh, well, are you talking about the rice? Character of Jim crow upon whom the the Jim crow laws were based because Jim crow was on black face minstrel character created by this this white person TD rice performer who represented sort of all of the bullion, but also irreverence the people feared in African Americans in antebellum period. And so it was safe to watch. Jim crow be irreverent and be erotic and playful on stage, but he also represented this threat that came to justify what we call. Jim crow laws because Jim crow laws were in place to keep Jim crow in place. It's character fund is a way of talking about how America goes through liberation transformation. We see it in the seventeenth century in Massachusetts, Plymouth rock. We see seen in the eighteenth century breaking away from the English masters. We see it now in the nineteenth century with the African Americans. Pre a preceding the before the civil war. There's a moment of transformation it's going to take a century of laws, but the joy is part of sedition John how to say this. It's rebellion sedition. It's defiance. It's all those things with a smile on its face. Yes. Certainly I I would say probably more defiance more revolt more rebellions than necessarily tradition. Though, many would see it as as such depending on what laws being broken and how near and dear that law is to the people who defended the after the Astra theatre ride. I wanna mention that. Because it was also mid-century and to make sure that American fund also involved criminality. When it was thrown in as a contest between European culture, some actor McCreadie performing hamlet onstage and American culture, which was Edwin Forrest performing hamlet onstage. Why did they riot? Well, they right because these are basically fan bases. These these are kind of football thugs as we know them today. And that's how these so-called Bowery boys, which was a pretty well intact. Subculture of kind of volunteer firemen and second generation mostly Irish emigrants, but also various ethnic, and they kind of defended of their their actor Edmund forest against McCreadie. They considered to be weakish. So what what we have in the this putatively fun event is a kind of more an example of how how sucks, and you know, riders can kind of let let loose with their their more criminal inclinations in in. Given the right or wrong circumstance. In other words, there's always a threat of criminality. And when it crosses into that it ceases being fun, and and can become the opposite of what was originally intended. Definitely. And I think that that that threat is is is right there in the in the grain of whatever sort of event, or our culture, you're looking at here, you have a self regulating crowd that has enjoying everyone else's fun as much as their own, and they're kind of acting in a more communal sense as opposed to a self serving and violence. Professor, this is for centuries. We must go fast. Industrialization of the of Coney Island. We go to to out side groups in the nineteen twenties the roaring twenties because of the car it roared along one group, we've mentioned the dancing of the African Americans the invention of the Lindy, but the other group I wanna make sure we flag. This is the new woman the flap. How was that fun? How is it? Presented. Okay. Well, they're the kind of the the granddaughter. Daughters of the the new women of the eighteen nineties in nineteen hundred zero the Suffragettes who, you know, the the term was originally coined, but whereas the Suffragettes were more of a a reformist group, which which you know, kept it very kind of domestic morals and attitudes of flappers wanted to have every bit as much fun as men have been having over the centuries in America. And so they flaunted it they they drank and they've smoked invented the most wonderful slang, the proved to be much Whittier than their male opponents, and they also did single out men as being whether killjoys or thorough Tehran's kind of kind of their opponents. So they they went toe to toe with them and through fun. Whether it was drinking and Speakeasy or dancing Lindy hop themselves. They showed their real political force with them. What you write emasculating wit, it meant to stab into the culture and. The culture the culture recoiled. It was frightening it recoiled, but it also was tickled. I mean, everyone kind of loved the flapper unless a hated them Harry Crosby. I have to flag him because he seems an excess, but there's a moment in which he has poetry enemies Jay's related to J P Morgan. He said. As an aristocrat, and he's also self destructive uses cocaine aerobatics sex threats gunfire. Eventually commits suicide at the ram at the Ritz. Of course, he represented an extreme kind of fun was he admired was he venerated? Well, that's an excellent question. I'm not sure if I can answer that one accurately, certainly he was he was a very popular figure. You know? He knew anyone who's to be known among the Hemingway and FitzGerald Stein's, and whatever, you know, the the ex patriot and northeastern American art world, and he was he was a great player among poets. But he was also this extreme hedonist of the most individualists sort and kind of lived lived for his his own tastes in dalliances. So he keeps chances a nice counterpart to a lot of the more communitarian fund that there was also on the he certainly makes FitzGerald seem like a Scribbler come to the loop. Exactly. All right now a detail about this period. Chaplain creates modern times, it's a talkie in. There are the two characters the trap talking and the Gammon played by Paulette Goddard. What did she represent? Oh, polite. Goddard? Well, she was a girl who the kid, right? The girl from the war. She was she was the the the most abject figure of the depression, except a wonderful thing about this movie, which was kind of chaplains swansong as a silent film star because. Yes, it was a talking, but it just it just had a couple of lines of speech, and it and it was Chaplin's first speaking role. And when you say that ridiculous song. Waiter, but Paulette Goddard character the kid and the tramp himself were kind of the the refuse of American society who still in spite of of their their poverty and their objection. Their homelessness are always running from the law manage to have a great deal of fun possibly because of it. The fun in the movie is it's threatening. Is it meant to be a challenge you mentioned at one point. They had an original ending for the Hayes sensors in Hollywood polit garnered going to a convent. So did that the end of that movie frightened people? Well, I think the movie itself. Could have frightened people. You know, people are especially in Hollywood, quite thin skinned in the days of the the Hazak in particular kind of ran scared of that even may west herself. But I think it's reading to to have a kind of an anti-capitalist communist. I mean, right there that original titles amasses. Message to it. And he ultimately defied everyone's fears of the film, and you know, they go off smiling into the sunset, and you know, even as they're being pursued getting away from Winthrop and Bradford one more time American fund is the book four centuries of joyous revolt. "Back. Thank you so much for your time. Your dedication your support of garden America whale. Appreciate it. I'm Brian main John Belk NASCAR tiger Pella. Fox the usual suspects are here. We all your garden buddies Stephanie is standing by. And we're going to be giving away a one hundred dollar gift certificate today. But first of all this show just wouldn't be complete without John's famous quote of the week. You know, I picked a quote in honor of having Stephanie from heirloom roses on the show. And the quote says I'd love to prune my roses. That's the one thing. I feel that I really do pretty well. It's like if you're a painter you can forget everything else while you're doing it where you have to because you're going to get stuck with thorns you've got to be paying attention. And that quote was from Julie Andrews, really, yeah. Good for you. Julie now tiger can attest to the fact that when I I'd have to trim my roses back. I've got so many plants in the way in terms of trying to maneuver around everything. There's no doubt that I'm gonna get stuck. I'm going to get pricked. I'm going to get thorny. It's going to be a thorny pruning day for me. It's painful, it is painful. Beauty pruning roses is not for sissies. Sammy way scriptural headfirst into a rose the other day, by the way up my face. You did. Yeah. I thought I figured you just started playing hockey. You are back on the ice at bled all over one in the house and the part that was bleeding. I got to stop. And then I looked at my face in the mirror. There's three other thorns in there. You know, what I I see your nose. And that's where it was right there on your no maybe later on. We'll get we'll get a close up because people are dying to look at your nose. All right. Speaking of roses, and thorns triad. So speaking of roses and thorns, but also beautiful things we have Stephanie Coker with heirloom roses, and she's going to bring us up to date on what's happening over there at heirloom roses, because they have a bunch of new things that they're introducing this year plants roses, all of the sorts. Stephanie good morning. Hey, good morning guys. Hey, so heirloom roses is is like reinventing themselves over there. I mean, they're not just roses. Now, I was that you guys is website just the other day and all of the new items aside from plants even there, you know, the the gift items the the plants the roses. You guys have been busy this off season. Yeah. We have been busy. And you know, I it actually started last year we had a bit of demand from our customer for some companion plants people were looking for some some plants to kind of balance out there rose bed. And so we brought in some hide ranches. And the response was just absolutely incredible. We told out of every branch, and we had and so we started we started reaching out into some new areas this year and have brought on some additional companion plants, and so far the response has also been very very good. So we're gonna continue that you know, what it is just like a Rosenthal. To not be satisfied with only four thousand plans to choose off course. Are you? Are you kidding me? You know, this is a this is a company over here that's doing their best to preserve rose varieties provide as much selection as possible to these people, and they just aren't satisfied that they're like we want more that airline roses has to go out and find other plants for them to help pick. But think of it. I drink is growing the shade. Right. Rhododendrons straight roses. Don't right. So there you go. That's right. So if you want to do your entire landscape you can now go to heirloom roses and get plants for sun. Yeah. So seventy give us a little taste of what you guys are. Introducing now I do have some images up. So let me start off with ones that we have. And you're going to have to correct me if I'm saying this wrong, but we'll start off with a road rhododendron. And it goes by the name of is it bait and Bayden. Red. Yep. Oh, Bonbonniere Baden-Baden, right? Tell us a little bit about Baden Baden Baden Baden is a a reddish color, a bright red waxy flowers got a real dark center to it. The foliage is beautiful foliage is a bright green, shiny. And it's it's really a good hardy variety. It's good and don't five through ten and it's a nice compact side. It's not gonna get crazy on you. It's going to be about two feet by three feet spread. So beautiful variety. Partial sun, just a great read kind of a companion plant for you. And we have that up on our Facebook right now, those of you watching on Facebook, and then let's stay with rhododendrons. But I found this one really interesting because the bud color of the flower for this rhododendron. Is different than the flower color. This is Percy Wiseman, and it's got that really deep kind of pinkish, bud. But then when it opens up, it's kind of a pale almost white flour. And I thought the contrast on the plant looked really spectacular. Yeah. It's kind of a pale white bloom, and it's tipped in the pink on the edges. The really neat thing about this one is the green leaves have sort of a velvety tan underside. So if you're kind of doing it from the side, you get a different look at it. Then if you're doing it from the front beautiful landscape plant as well, very versatile. Good for mass planting so if you wanna do a hedge or you've got an area where you want a few of them Percy. Weisman would be a great choice. He will before we when we switch to another plant here. I wanna ask you we when we were in England this past year, we saw rhododendron, and it was probably about eleven to twelve feet tall or any of these Friday that you guys releasing big ones or are. They all the more compact ones. Yeah. I kept everything pretty compact this year, just because you know, a lot of our our customers are are supplementing their current gardens. And so I didn't think that anybody really wanted anything that was going to get that that big. But certainly if somebody had a request for something, I certainly would entertain it. Most of them are that we're looking at are going to get about three to four feet at the at the maps. You. I just had an idea since you're talking about rhododendrons. I notice it that our good friends. Sue crane was on Facebook. Yes. She's on watching the show and her husband. Yeah. Found a rhododendron that came up from a seedling that is a spectacular color. It was huge wasn't it. And what did they name it? We had we had a contest for the night. Trying to think of what the name was. But I was thinking wouldn't that be great exclusive for heirloom roses? That's a lot of pressure to put on Bob there. Well, all he would have to do it would be to give them one. And then they can do. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Got my attention. So so get in touch with me. And we'll see what we can't do. There you go. Hey, now, let's switch up because this was a okay in San Diego. We have a neighborhood called south park in through south park, the streets, all go intrigue names. So there's I street cedar street, pine street all the basics, but I've always seen cow ministry, and I've never really known what a cow Mia was. And I saw you guys are listening, and then the one that I picked out, and I'm showing on Facebook Libery now is is minuet. So what what's a cow Mia? Me is are a a shrub, and they're they're similar to rhododendron only much much smaller. The neat thing about county. Is there also known as far as a mountain laurels cameras or compact their blooms are really neat because they start off with sort of berry berry like sized, bud. And then just sort of pop open to this little umbrella shaped sort of bloom, lots of arrogation in the bloom and just a beautiful little landscape plan, very.

"That's right. Inappropriate. My wife says inappropriate circumstances. Okay. So he actually looks around for space to moan. Then he starts grinning like, yeah. It was real offensive when I addressed up as Michael Jackson. Let me moonwalk to demonstrate and then his wife gives them look like oh my God. I can't believe I'm married to this guy. And then he stops. Okay. So he's been in trouble. But here's the thing about wrath northern while he appears to be a mild mannered, gentle fellow. It turns out that he's just the worst. Like just in politics. He's the worst Alary mind you the back during the two thousand sixteen campaign. He was running against a guy named Ed Gillespie and superpac associated with them that he refused to condemn ran in ad about children running through the streets minority. Children running through the streets away from a truck festooned with a confederate flag and in Ed Gillespie for governor bumper sticker on the back. Here's what that sounded. Like. Let's see this. There's kids literally running away from a truck with a confederate flag on the back. And boom one second. We're going to see a shot of the Ed Gillespie sticker on the back of the truck. It's going to be awesome. Just so many minority. Children running away from one frost pretty impressive stuff. So they ran that ad if there's a all alright up that's the ad that he ran back in two thousand sixteen or his his a super Pac connected with him. Ran back in two thousand sixteen demonstrate how anti-racism he was he's a night fighter and this kind of night fighter ain't going to go down without fighting. So who is he going after he's now chosen to go after allegedly Virginia Lieutenant governor, Justin Fairfax, one of the things I love most about politics. And when I say love, I mean, sort of love and sort of I sort of love it when somebody does something bad and in order to misdirect away from the bad thing. They do. They just go clock. Whoever is nearby. It's like mongo clocking the horse in the middle of blazing saddles for no reason just clock a horse. So he hears just in. Fairfax standing over to the side Lieutenant governor going, hey, guys, I'm over here. And I'm ready to take over whenever you want me to Ralph Northam gets hit with this yearbook photo he's like just Smith. Justin, Fairfax right across the head just amazing stuff. And he hits him apparently with a week about a sexual assault allegations circa two thousand and four this allegation was first reported over a big league politics, not coincidentally the same site. The first reported the yearbook page for Ralph northern big league politics has become the center of Virginia politics. So well done over there guys. The Washington Post is now reporting that virgin Virginia Lieutenant governor, Justin. Fairfax has issued a statement denying sexual assault allegation that appeared on the same conservative website that posted a racist. Photograph governor Ralph Northerns medical school yearbook page, Lieutenant governor Fairfax is an outstanding and well earned reputation for treating people with dignity and respect read the statement. He has never assaulted anyone ever in any way, shape or form. The statement came after the online publication bigly politics. Ran a story. Under the headline updates. Yanfeng Hinson possible Justin Fairfax sex assault. The story was based on a private Facebook post from the woman, which the publication said it had obtained from a friend of hers. Permission to share it people were speculating that this actually by might be the governor's office because again, you just wheeled like clocking with a roundhouse in their response. Fairfax's staff members pointed out that the woman I approached the Washington Post with the allegation shortly before he was inaugurated and the post carefully investigated the claim for several months the woman approached the post after Fairfax won election in November two thousand seventeen before he was inaugurated in two thousand eighteen saying she felt shedding obligation to speak out the woman in Fairfax. I met in Boston at the two thousand four democratic national convention during the conversation, the to realize they had a mutual friend. It was that commonality she recalled that put her enough that on the afternoon. Fairfax asked her to walk with him to his hotel room to pick up some papers. She thought nothing of joining him Fairfax in the woman told different versions of what happened in the hotel room with no one else presents the Washington Post could not find anyone who could corroborate. Either version the post did not find significant red flags and inconsistencies within the allegations. As the Fairfax statement incorrectly. Said there not married at the time he has denied her accounts through. His attorneys and described the encounter as consensual the woman described the sexual encounter that began with consensual kissing and ended with forced act the left for crying and shaken she said Fairfax guided her to the bed where they continued kissing. And then at one point you realized you could not move her neck, she's at Fairfax juices strength to force her to perform oral sex, the Washington Post in phone calls to people who knew Fairfax from college law school and through political circles and no similar complaints of sexual misconduct against him without that or the ability to corroborate the women's accounts in part because you're not told anyone what happened the Washington Post did not run a story. So can we think of an example in the recent past of a conservative about human allegation was made where there were no similar complaints? There was no corroboration. Where there was. No contemporaneous corroboration. And yet the media ran with the story a lot to the point where a personal loss say maybe like a supreme court nomination over it. Oh, yeah. Breath cabinet. Just did that to him. Didn't you? Oh that's awkward now. You're not going to do that to Justin Fairfax because he got to be fair to Justin Fairfax that John Belk have nots different story come on. It's different story. Even though he admits having Fairfax in having sex with the woman apparently the post reached out to the woman again Monday. She's she said he had hired a lawyer. The lawyer has not returned calls. The post generally does not name alleged victims of sexual assault without their explicit permission later on Monday. Fairfax folks reporters at the state capitol in Richmond. And again said the encounter was consensual after that he released a second statement accusing the post of smearing him by even publishing the woman's account, the Washington Post acknowledging it had no corroboration just smeared. It elected official. The statement said okay weird. You don't have those same standards about you know, like Brad Kavanagh, very very weird stuff. These executive editor of the post said, no Lieutenant governor. Fairfax is a public official who may well rice in the position of governor. He began the morning by issuing a statement regarding allegations against him making specific represe-. Sensations about post reporting that had not resulted in publication. We then had an obligation to clarify the nature of the allegations and our reporting because Fairfax originally alleged that the Washington Post had vetted the claims and found them to be conflicting, which of course, is not true. And the second to show you how Justin Fairfax believes that. In fact, he's being destroyed by Ralph northern which is just I mean directly into my vein guides directly into my veins. First of all I need to talk to you for just a second about timeshares. Let's be clear about timeshares the very easy to buy you wanna vacation and people bring into hotel room. And they say, you know, if you get this. If you listen to this time share presentation, we will get you like a of sailing activity. You're like, yeah, sounds great. And then you sit there as the best salesman on planet earth, sell you something that is going to suck money out of your pocket for decades to come well five years ago. I had a talk show on a station in Seattle at the time. I met a little company called timeshare exit team. They enlighten me on how bad timeshare contracts are that the majority of them last forever. Even when you die and that the average yearly maintenance. He has over a thousand bucks and increasing. That's whether or not you can actually use your timeshare timeshare exit team was created to help people who are stuck in their timeshare and couldn't get out. That's something that I could get behind began endorsing them five years later, they successfully exited well over sixteen thousand timeshare owners, they're exiting more and more every year from timeshares which again are not a product that you want to buy. But if you're in one, you may be you may be looking for a way out. That's why you need to call timeshare exit team. It's a process there with you every step of the way, they will get you out of that timeshare or they give you a complete refunds. He really have nothing to lose. Call eight four four nine to five exit for a free consultation. That's eight four four nine to five exit or timeshare exit team dot com again timeshare exit team dot com. Go check that out right now. Okay. Meanwhile, as we say Justin Fairfax is now under the impression that routh northern the governor who is over him, and who prevents his ascension to the highest office in Virginia at that guy has sabotaged him. Oh, Gimmie thrown stuff here. Ralph northern taken Justin Fairfax to the subway station. Nice converse. And then things go wildly wrong. So here is just in Fairfax accusing the sitting governor of Virginia of dumping. Campaign apple on him about a sexual assault allegation. From two thousand four pack is statement. And so I I don't know precisely where this is coming from, you know, we've heard different things. But but here's the thing. Does anybody think it's any coincidence that on the eve of potentially being elevated the bats win this uncorroborated smear comes out to anybody believe that's a coincidence. I don't I don't think anybody believes that's a coincidence. Again, particularly something this without the first time. This was brought up it was a year ago..

"Eastern KENDALL Gammon will join us. He's the radio analyst for the Kansas City. Chiefs ask him what it's like to work with the great Mitch Altus is one of my favorite play-by-play guys ever. And I mean that sincerely Kansas City eight five five two one two four CBS. I don't know how you can lose an introductory press conference. But I think Adam gates did it. Here's Adam gates the other day. The number one thing for me was a young quarterbacks. I also think the knowledge of plan these guys over the last three years, and that was interesting for me to stay in division. When you when you know your opponents right out the gate, and you've been on one of the other teams that you're gonna end up playing. That's Adam gay citizen trajectory press conference. That's about as good as the press conference the other day. Because everything else just became is that what the hell's is is doing like, Adam gays. He sat down. There was a moment where he finished off a sentence. And then it basically hit him like, oh my God. I signed on to be the head coach of the jets. And then he's asked another question. He kind of gives us like turn and his eyes get even more open in. He honestly reminded me. And I'm sure a lot of guys can sympathize with us you remember when you were sixteen years old, and you're smoking some dope in your room, and your mom would come in. And you give her this look like, I'm not high. What are you? Hello mother. How are you doing today? That's the way Adam gates. Look he looked like me like fifteen sixteen year old Ken. Blowing smoke out the window. Then all of a sudden mom wanted to read me some excerpt from chicken soup for the soul. I'm blowing it through the dryer sheet. She comes in Hello mother. How are you doing this afternoon? What a look there are there, bad press conferences. And usually it's over bad things. The Browns fired a guy one time and a guy in the media read a Facebook comment to the owner of the Browns and said to his face basically that they look like the three stooges up there. I've been there for bad press conferences, I've never seen anything like that. In my entire life. But he did look like a character for men in black. But he maybe not be real. And jets fans, it just it all it did was start to confirm some of their fears that they had against Adam gates now. I thought Adam gates Adam gates is a good offense of mine. I think so Adam gates has been good with good quarterbacks in the past. And honestly, you know, he's not that far with twenty three and twenty five with the with the dolphins for three years. He had Ryan tannehill. Yet. Jay Cutler who basically did not care whatsoever. Could take it or leave it and only played for the ten million dollars yet. Matt Moore who is probably better than Jay Cutler and a lot of ways and Ryan tannehill got hurt a whole bunch of times, you might as well head, Cleo, lemon or John Belk or any one of those other guys Jay Fiedler probably would have worked out better for them. So I can make an argument, and yeah, he's a good offense of mine. But that press conference when I heard Peter Schwartz last week saying man, all we got was the dolphins garbage. And then he goes on does that go. Ooh. Do anything to make anybody feel better, Tom? Yes, sir. How are you feeling today about your jets can't say that? I'm feeling great. It's a weird one. Because the New York intro presser has become a kind of self fulfilling prophecy of just like the media showing up just to feast on whoever it is. And you remember the mcadoo from a couple years ago? Giants intro is a disaster. Also, even it's even spilled over into baseball Mickey Callaway had a really weird and shell presser last year. Why don't you guys? Do it right there in New York like everywhere else. We're looking for blood can Dublin. Find if you're looking for it, you guys do your press conferences wrong, your introductory press conference. There's a meeting of the press, but then you put your your staff around the press. So when the general manager owner usually general manager like introduces them, you know, the next head coach of the New York Jets. It's an honor and pleasure to welcome in Adam gays and everybody stands at. Yeah. They who they will put up for him. Andre the giant coming out. And so there's a part where it kind of cools off the people who might be asking him some strong questions. That's how you do a press conference. Years Adam gays, and he's the next head coach of this complete and utter seeking ship. Kind of looks like a hostage situation. Like he was he was trying to Blake Moore's code saying get me out of here. Stephen ross. What have you done to me? I don't hate the hot. I don't love the higher. But I'm definitely one of these people that hates the hires all upset at the team, which let me ask you the hold on. Hold on. Let me ask you a question might throw it out there. Eight five five two four CBS which press conference was worse. Adam gates accepting the job is the jets or Bill Belichick saying he was leaving the New York Jets. I think Bill press conference was better. Yeah. Definitely. NFL? That's not an argument from you. I get no argument. I just. Argument was epic wallow..

"Like Peterman is doing things where you're just sort of like, I didn't have never seen anyone do that before, which is it's remarkable because I've watched a lot of football. A lot of bad quarterbacking and he just looks the only people I can compare them to. There's a game that John Belk started with the skins. I think where he really just like was fucking like falling down in ways where like just untouched like Peterman is at a similar level of Avangard sucker there. Yeah, it's really sad. Redford is Eli, your most ASI quarterback? Yeah, definitely. Who has the most asked defense was the most asked defense Redford that would probably be some combination of the falcons and bucks together so bad. What about the chiefs though? Chiefs defense is pretty subtle, ask for sure like they can't really tackle or do anything else, right? But in this case, I'm kind of okay with it because that means Mahomes just throw like ninety times a game just to Duncan everyone in every single play, which is like indisputably. Awesome. So I'm okay with them being asked like maybe it's a tactical s. situation on the on the merits. It's ass. But one small thing though is that that they're so good on offense now that it makes the trade of Marcus Peters seem a lot dumber in my opinion because they had had Peters on Sunday night. Maybe they win that game. They probably don't win that game, but still would have been something right now. There's just nothing on that defense outside of Justin Houston, which is not good. Oh, and who's the other pass rusher. D. Ford? Yeah. Yet the to me the like what's frustrating with the Peters trade, especially in. Context. That was like one of those dumb things at teams do on principle where they were like mad that he was rude or something like that really like is like Instagram or something. And he might be a prick a lot of like star defensive backs. That's like one of the definitive sports prick personalities. Oh, yeah. But that was like they absolutely did not need to do that. It wasn't the sort of thing where they like, you know, he was tearing the locker room apart, or he was paid too much or whatever that was just like them getting. He's football, you know, super good football. And that should definitely be a consideration when you're building your football team's roster to my mind could see. I could see the chiefs defense being better if Eric berry was around, but I'm looking at NFL dot com. Headline from two weeks ago that says chief safety, Eric berry dealing with he'll deformity. So yeah, you need those heels to be fully formed. Yeah, you want in the correct shape Giuliani, the only the baby the baby, he'll I haven't seen deformity very much on injury. Reports that were really jumps out at you. Yeah, I'm new hotness sivy the new Arp. I'm questionable with a deformity out out with mutated. Who will be the first coach fired Redford and should be greeted, but they're not gonna do that. No, we'll we'll probably be Dirk cutter. I mean, I wish you would be Vance Joseph as Broncos fan. He's going to be like super fired after the season. 'cause I don't see a way really packing it in in the middle of the year, but yet Dirk cutter is bad. The Broncos are so annoying, man. He also call for his own firing too. Did he he? But they also they just gave up. Mike Smith is a sacrificial lamb Mike Smith who will go back to being a mafia extra or major league umpire, of course, about a pink boy for sure, absolutely. Has worn a pinkie ring at some point in his life. But I actually, I think I think Joseph is more likely to be cut particularly after tonight. When this podcast is they will be playing, I believe, a cardinals. If they lose that game, I think Joseph is out and then go ways already. Can we despair moments thought for how awful Bill O'Brien is and how amazing it is that he's still got a job. The red zone shit is like fantastic. Real of one real. They have so many good players. How could you possibly be that bad at that thing with the guys that they have on their team? Like I would a better job, but I would probably just tell like, I'd be like you guys figured out, it's fine..

"And so because I was cutting a very large check, I still say this even, you know, five years from now, if I'm in a different spot, it's always going to be a large amount of money. You know. It'd probably surprise people knew what the amount was. I'm not going to go into what the balance, but it was a large amount of money to rent that time at nine twenty from Burt Kaufman. Who's a great guy, great guy. One of the most honorable people. I've been lucky enough to meet in broadcasting since leaving school in twenty years. He's good man, and I don't think you'll find too many people who say otherwise, a tough negotiator. We certainly went back and forth and that, but that's that's professional. That's not personal, and that's fine. So Burton, I got the deal done. So not only are we cutting this big check to have the time I made the mistake, my mistake, no one else's mistake. It wasn't. It wasn't a mistake in the moment. Now I look back on it and I call it a mistake of going, okay, we need to go out and hire the best lineup we possibly can. And then that is going to lead the most revenue in reality. That's not what happened. And I've learned that since and the reality of the business, and I can only speak to to the nine twenty businesses that the vast majority of the dollars were tach to the morning after not all by any means not all, but the majority certainly and I'm in a weird spot because it'd be the equivalent of John kiosque, for example, runs a Hubbard. Becky Damien runs Entercom when Amazon was operating here in Saint Louis. John back ran MS. It'd be the equivalent of even though those monster. Radio clusters. That's what they're called clusters and not using a code word for cluster. Fuck because they own all these stations are clusters. That'd be the quivalent of like John Belk, getting done with the show and then operating the radio station, albeit, you know, bigger radio stations certainly than the nine twenty and multiple, but it's a weird spot because you're on air, but you're also operating. But I did what I had to do. That wasn't because I wanted to do it. We had to do it. But I also was the guarantor on that. And so for this amount of money, which I will say over the course of the year was well into the six figures that's as details. I'll go on it from inside t. l. to have this airtime my wife and I were the guarantors. Nobody else, but I also the upside, I'm not bitching about it. I just didn't talk about what was going on, and this is a start up venture. And so there were there were there were times when my wife worked in the commercial traffic and billing department for inside t. l.. And I obviously I'm hosting the show and I'm president of the company and there were times where I'm dislike. Yeah. I mean, we can take out. We can touch our line of credit, you know, didn't carry debt. Try not to carry any debt. If I'm the guarantor, especially. But but I felt like since I was a guarantor them robbing Peter to pay Paul. And so I'm not gonna we we're not gonna para selves this this pay period, and that could go on for a couple of months. And that's a real thing and I didn't run around talking about it. Just because I didn't feel anybody's business, but also because the people who were working at nine twenty if they heard and I said that, yeah, you know it's tight and I can't pay myself an Anna Marie..

If Donald doesn't start for the jets, which is pretty aggressive. We did. We literally did this with Blake Bortles one year that's where was he has a good literally the second preseason game, and he looks good, and he hits open guys and he's looking great institute threes and we say it is an abomination. If he doesn't start week one, and then we rush them along. There is a value in, I guess, not redshirt rookie quarterback, but at least giving him five, six games to sit through most talented quarterback under the age of thirty five right now as Aaron Rodgers. And he sat from multiple seasons stirs something to that. He would not have been the same. I think GV Tom Brady sat for multiple. He'd be sat for William the mortar, the quarterback under age forty, two sat for multiple years, so I don't see Donald sitting multiple, you know, I think you're not gonna playoffs this year. Sit for six, seven weeks, learn professional. There are not guys. There are not enough practices to get good at being an NFL quarterback. That doesn't happen. Training camp is so watered down. Now that clerk Lyn NFL live on us. Going, I keys. You have to learn to say. And so I haven't seen you this animated since he got the two zero one opo thirty minutes. Detroit at the trait Monday night, seven, ten pm home for the dolphins at Cleveland is the first three. And then you got Jacksonville week for at Jacksonville. Oh, you wanna go against the best defensive by don't, but I like those first three. If you were going to start him those first three or like kind of nice way. Strategy, actually let him play against bad teams and throw them account of the wolves whenever go. When I was in college that I covered jazz and seven dolphins and their whole thing was when was John Becca play? And they were waiting. They threw Cleal trend, green and try and green got concussed almost immediately was ended his career then throughout Cleo lemon. And the whole thing was what? What defense are going to start. John Becca turns out, did matter, turns out, John Belk sucked wasn't John Belk. Like a second round pick. He was guess who I saw yesterday Cowboys camp, John Belk, Elman. He's a private quarterback coach. Now you would you wanna learn from John Karr we all fantasy which one of those teams scares you at the trait home for Miami at Cleveland. I think Detroit's a little bit better than people think they are. So I'm not going to Keiser who's just at the Detroit, they always have talent. I think Matthew Stafford will one day inherit the earth from sort of upper generation of quarterbacks. I grew. I just don't think it's going to happen in twenty eighteen guys. It officially happened. I'm excited for football. I started thinking about them. NFO. Here that started it, but I started thinking about the Monday night jets at the trick at four o'clock, west coast time. I'm Ed. I mean, I'm always. The minute I saw Donald throw, one preseason touch out. I was like best sport around, can't believe back. It's yeah, at called Sean yesterday because I had to talk to him about a fairly urgent work thing. And he's like, Kennecott you back in an hour much in the jets. Okay, I get it. You've never had a. I was getting emotionally connected to my guy. Bill. Does Sam scare you at all gal that your dynasty is winding down or soon to be removed from the Tom Brady Bill bell, check era hopefully within the next ten years? Yes. Are you frayed of Sam? Yeah, we were just talking about it one of these years. The pets are gonna go six to ten, and somebody else going to take the vision. The biggest reason nobody is taking the division. Well, two reasons that three reasons, quarterbacks jets, dolphins bills. Yep..
