"Yeah and it's really not worth it but You know. Let's let's talk about this bill for a minute. You remember. originally president biden proposed two trillion. And we knew he wouldn't get that starting number. We talked about that but one point three is pretty strong. Nineteen republican senators voted for the bill. And it wasn't just the mitt romney's in the susan collins but some of the less palatable ones like mitch mcconnell as we mentioned lindsey graham chuck grassley trump was out there campaigning against it but biden. Got it done so I think i think part of that. bipartisanship came from the fact that it's an infrastructure bill so infrastructure that means growth. Its growth bill. In the short term it it creates demand for a lot of good paying jobs in the long term it creates capacity for more economic out. But i think this was a great bipartisan. Win and you know. Senator peter said every dollar invested his six dollars say the business roundtable ivan lincoln. The shutouts said that every dollar invested in infrastructure asta drives about three dollars and seventy cents in economic growth. So even if you don't think it's that much money it's still you know. Investing in infrastructure is all about economic growth as well of course nothing good can happen involving joe biden and democrats. That is an immediately criticized by would be governors of the republican point of view in michigan. None of the announced or people who are considering running for governor candidates on the republican side as had anything to say positive about the infrastructure bill even though as you point out no donald trump we have been against this bill but it was donald trump who announced a two trillion dollar infrastructure agreement with chuck schumer and nancy pelosi. They had this big happy talk at the white house. And trump said we can get right down to it as soon as you drop the impeachment and that was as far as it ever got it was infrastructure week every week at the white house back then nothing ever happened. But you have like tutored dixon. Slamming governor whitman support for the infrastructure. Plan calling it fake and saying that it creates for taxes. Which of course is a lie. It doesn't raise any taxes. It might indirectly have an impact on taxes. Some people pay but republicans just absolutely demanded that we spend all this money without raising any taxes at all which is sort of like the miracle of the fishes and loaves but they use some very creative bookkeeping..

"If you just look at roads and bridges this bill will provide just in michigan eight billion dollars. That's a lot of construction. Senator gary peters on which still a rocky road to fixing the roads. It proves once again. There's a reason they compare watching legislation being constructed with the making of sausage. We'll talk with the economy. John austin about the real world impact of the biden plan for michigan. If it doesn't get through. I'm wall sort. This is the time where we need our federal government to step up and protect every citizen every vote and every election administrator. Who's protecting the very foundation of our government. I still am calling on the federal government to act to recognize a responsibility to act and to do so well in advance of next year's elections so that we as election administrators are able to meet the demands of any new federal requirements and protect every voter in compliance with them secretary of state jocelyn benson ads. Her voice to the calls for the federal voting rights act even as republicans brazenly work to make running georgia elections a one-party affair and joe biden. Bring his magical touch to those negotiations. I'm christine barry. Also this week the woman that former president used to call ditsy. Betsy says she's not running for governor. "It calls for amending the us constitution to protect us from future. Donald trump's and the basic premise of it is is that for two hundred fifty years. We've relied on the good faith of the president of the united states not to do things not to abuse the powers that are given to them in sex in article two of the constitution. And until now that it has worked but under donald trump is just completely fell apart. And we've gotta to make sure it doesn't happen again. Conflict of interests abuse of the pardoning power which quite honestly a lot of presidents have done in the past republicans and democrats Abuses of the use of the justice department to political vendettas and it goes on and on and on and on the the the the reality that the trump administration absolutely refused to recognize the authority of congress to conduct oversight and ignored all subpoenas and to this day continues to ignore subpoenas and there's no legal consequences because ultimately the enforcement of those subpoenas falls on the attorney. General is appointed by the president. And if you've got an attorney. General like bill barr. It's not going to get enforce. It is things like what's going on right now with general services administration where you've got an administrator there blatantly violating federal law to stop the transition laws very clear when there's an apparent winner you start the transition. We have an apparent winner but she refuses to sign the so. It's a really good column to read a bloomberg is behind a paywall. But i think you get four or five free articles a month so and they've got a subscription special going on right now too so if you need to pay. It's not very expensive. Yeah i i mean i was able to just click on it and pull it right up like you said you get three or four articles for free. It's interesting because the argument is Or the the comment that it starts out with headlong. "But if you can do something to detroit you may be able to deliver john. James some more votes and you know if you don't count detroit john james when the election. Yeah yeah but we do count detroit because they're michiganders' so you don't get to just pluck them out the way that you do like the. The trump wants to pluck them out. Talk about the election numbers. He wanted to pluck them out to talk about. Covert numbers you know. Is there any respect at all for detroit from these republicans. There just isn't it but the thing is john. James is finally taken a position on something while we gotta give it to them there. I didn't think i would ever see the day. Go along for the days when bill milliken is governor. The reason he won a couple of his elections was because the he took detroit very seriously and built a strong partnership with the mayor of detroit. Who was somebody who disagree with politically on a lot of things. But he realized the importance of the city to the state of michigan. We need to go over to ann arbor a little bit to one of the democrats over an ann arbor has done something that looks bad although it's not illegal it doesn't violate legislative roles but still looks bad. It's senator rebecca warren and it's kind of weird she's Lobbying lawmakers who are not at michigan so these are out of state lawmakers. It's totally in line with her. Stand on making the popular vote like doing away with the electoral college. I guess is the best way to say it so that yes the national park and so this is totally in line with with how she views. This this isn't anything that is dubious based on you know. It's thought hypocritical in any way. But it's weird because she's getting paid to do a job for an organization that requires her to contact people out of state. Or that's that's at least part of it and and she's lobbying and communicating with these people. But she's a full time legislator and you know what well that growing movement in michigan having a part time legislature. This is the kind of thing that people used to support that. Because if she's got time to do this job then she doesn't need to have fulltime to. Do you know her legislative for a lot of legislators though that have outside jobs There's there's nothing in state law that precludes them from doing that. I misspoke by the way earlier. I call her senator warren. She's a former senator. Who's now presentative. She is term limited. She'll be leaving the house at the end of december because of term. Canco back to the seneca. She was already termed out of there as well. So it's a it's a short term thing and over the years there's been a lot of legislators have have outside businesses especially the people that are professional services lawyers especially but being a lobbyist even though it is for a nonpartisan group basically the doing of public service type work rather than lobbying for special interest. I don't find it especially offensive. It's just by attaching the title lobbyist to a member of the michigan legislature. It does look bad but again it looks bad bill about the fact that it looks bad is kind of what i was getting at..

Is he just cut right through. It explains everything clearly. Deals with ex would've would've function okay. A couple of quick notes first of all the state is increasingly broke. Just like every other state. Governor whitmer is pleading with washington to get some help but the legislatures republican leaders are on board with saving michigan democratic leader in the senate. Jim neck house democratic leader prescribed. And i sent a letter to senator mitch. Mcconnell speaker nancy pelosi. Senator chuck schumer representative kevin mccarthy urging them all to take swift action to pass a covid nineteen relief. Bill that meets the scale of this crisis. I did ask the republican leader in both the senate and house to sign onto this letter as well but they declined in others an awful lot of this my party before the country's stuff going on both in the state in the country i think it's appropriate to point out that it is not universal within the republican party. Two of our republican members of congress from michigan have spoken out very strongly on both the election and the need to get on with the the transition and props go out to paul mitchell who is stepping down from congress at the end of this year. Probably to run for governor and a couple of years and the always reelected fred upton over in the southwest corner of the state who was interviewed on cnn. The voters have spoken mean here in michigan hundred and fifty four thousand vote margin by president led biden. No one has come up with any evidence of fraud or abuse. All eighty three counties now have certified their own election results. Those it'll be officially tabulated should be tomorrow. We expect the dead process move forward and let the voters not the politicians speak of fourteen day. Delay doesn't help any and frankly we have to get back to two governing As you know with the gsa not officially certified the election. It's really thrown a lot of sand in the gears of allowing for the transition to take place one of the things..

"Nine counties in michigan voted for joe biden. And they were. you know. Large turn out of anti-trump vote around the african american communities but white working size folks in places that are struggling keep voting for trump and so we don't deliver some Economic opportunities for them and their kids revitalize communities that are once-thriving. They're now of degraded. You're going to keep voting white sleep Izzy with an agenda for rural america and communities. That have been in a long term and economic line. I see echoes of a couple of recent campaigns in your article. I the mistake i think hillary clinton made more than any other in her campaign. Wasn't avoiding wisconsin and michigan although the certainly hurt but as when she talked about basically we're going to get rid of coal without explaining what that really meant. It wasn't meaning. We're gonna turn our back on the coal miners. It means we are going to transition to the twenty first century forms of energy. And you're not going to be left behind in fact we're going to train your we're going to help you make that transition but you kind of skipped that part went straight to the product. I go by and totally to the extreme positions of the wing the bernie sanders winning But at the same time. I understand why they're saying they can continue to fight for it. But i don't think that's where the nation is at right now. Let's get off the the politics and the healthcare they'll talk about some of these kind of important tune that's the economy in uh. There's a lot of people still unemployed not just in michigan but all across the nation and for the second time coming into national office. Joe biden's got to deal with a national economic downturn. The first time it was the result of the the great recession the the bubble that burst as a result of all the shenanigans on wall street this time it is the economic bubble bursting because of the combined incompetence of the trump administration and the spread of covid nineteen across the country with high unemployment nationally in michigan. The state is position for strong comeback. Though if the incoming administration follows through on his campaign points for the economy that is at the heart of an op ed in newsweek this week which is co authored by our guest. This week. john. Austin our friend. John is director of the michigan economic center. January article for newsweek. You and your partner. Make the argument. That for joe biden debris in the country together. He really needs to start in the mid west. The premise being really that the midwest has been kind of overlooked by the two parties as they focus on the coast and midwest and and also in rural america bit lar. We some of us were hoping that we'd see a you know a blue wave and Or rejection out among voters across the We but we got oj. Meaning there's still a lot of people who were responding to his Oculus demagoguery about s Asked it's somehow immigrants or on boats who are Keeping you from getting what your code and you know the reality is that it is. People were in a struggling left behind rural america and in our our city communities. Industrial communities like michigan avenue turned that have seen diminished populations in the kids leave and have seen development of new good jobs to replace the ones lost in in may those communities like Battlecry and and saginaw and flint's in its white working class folks in around those in our state or you know understandably frustrated anxious angry about their own lives and eager to blame somebody else and trump stokes that is not the answer or their economic them and their kids but if boating even more for him in those parts entry the amount in droves in trump is both rural america Unity's in east might partner on this piece. "Even though the money is still there they just decided we're not going to give it out anymore. I honestly believe that there are elements in the trump administration beginning with the president who are actively trying to do everything they can to rat fuck the incoming administration. They want to make things as bad as possible. So the joe biden fails strictly out of spite which is contrary to what every former president in my lifetime and probably forever has done whether it was george w bush george h w bush. Bill clinton barack obama ronald reagan. Jimmy carter gerald ford. It doesn't matter. They all worked very hard and very seriously to pave the way for their the person who is succeeding them in office so they could be as successful as possible. Brock obama's new book. He writes very eloquently about the process that they went through when he was in transition. Back in two thousand eight. The nation was suffering economic crisis and he says despite our many many differences on policy george bush could have been better in the transition. He did everything he could for barack obama to be successful. This president is doing just the opposite. He's doing everything he possibly can to. One make sure that the incoming president fails and secondly to maybe lower golf handicap. A little bit. It's clear that the worse off. The american people are the harder the next guy's jobs going to be on the worst. He's going to look because when he comes in he's going to have big problems and then trump and republicans whatever gets to sit back and say look at how bad things are under biden. This reminds me of something i heard. Once that republicans to america are like abusive boyfriends are to the women they love. They love you so much. They wanna hold onto you forever. I mean trump even basically leg hump to flag one time and kissed it. Not more than once Gross but he loves america so much but when she breaks up with him he throws all of her stuff outside keyser car and calls her. You know and that's what trump is doing to america. If you love to america so much you do everything you could right now. To make sure she was okay in the future and while i understand the whole philosophy of there's only one president at a time is pretty clear Donald trump lost by more than five and a half million votes. He is not going to remain president. He started out saying that the elections were going to be rigged that in itself as a smear on america and he continues to talk about how the elections are rigged. He's attacking people he's calling people who serve on the board of canvassers. Are you kidding. me presidents. don't do this. but he's never been a president anyway. Let's move onto the insanity that is the trump campaign to overturn the vote of the people. And somehow some way michigan is officially the bat shit crazy center of the universe right now on multiple fronts christine. what's going on. Well as i sat. Donald trump boss by more than five and a half million votes and he lost the electoral college three zero six to thirty two but he continues to promote that conspiracy theory that the election was stolen. And it was rigged and republican. Legislators should ignore the certified votes for joe biden that are coming out of urban areas like detroit philadelphia and atlanta. It's unprecedented..

"I am seeing more and more on twitter. Pushback against the mike as and lee chatfield. There's a lot less about standing up for our liberty and a lot more about shut up and do your job. People are sick of just ignoring it. And the people who are shouting about liberty and justice just don't seem to be there the way that they used to be and maybe it's because they went the parlor mine space. I don't know what that is. you know. I got on parlor just to see what was happening there. And i've found it so far. It's basically the rudy giuliani. I am totally nuts wing of the republican party. I read somewhere that it was just about collecting data on people. I so i don't have any interest in giving my information to parlor if any if i made. I made a buffoni biography. I didn't give my real information. Heavens is now in its own are financed or something by people close to cambridge analytics. So i i just don't want anything to do with it. But maybe that's where those people are going. What i'm what i'm seeing. Just anecdotally walk is that people are getting sick this bs. They're sick of dealing with could with people who ignore covid. They're sick of what's going on. With this election they're just wanted to be overload. Just move forward. So that's the kind of stuff that they're saying in response to these. gop press releases and lee chatfield. mike shirke and boola whatever The fave far latouche whatever he is. And that's a that's kind of good to see. I know it's not any sort of real. You know statistical sample or good data for you to extrapolate something from but it's good to see that people are kind of sick of it quick points before we move on to other subjects. Qasem getting tired about talking about this them. Getting tired of being locked up. And i'm tired of not see my grandchildren and etcetera etcetera etcetera. But first of all there is a segment of the population that believes that herd immunity. Just letting people get sick is the way to go They lost a big win. This week the big pandemic right now in europe is in sweden experiment and her immunity. They tried it in the spring. Thought they'd get everybody infected and then get them to have the antibodies in them so you'd have herd immunity and it's not working Right now they're hospitals are overwhelmed. They're getting infections far greater at a far greater pace than their neighboring countries. And it's a mess over there and they've completely failed. They're still not totally skinning back on. They said before but at least now they're national leadership is saying where a mask That didn't work. They're not admitting it didn't work but it didn't work. The other thing is that this is going to really come crashing in on us right after christmas because thanks to inaction so far by congress coupled with steve mnuchin a lot of the remaining social sakic comics safety net. That is out there for americans that are suffering economically because of this crisis is gonna fall apart. Unemployment benefits extensions. we'll end for its estimated. Wisconsin mask up illinois mashed up ohio mascot indian mascot minnesota mascot michigan and there's more pressure to coming from joe biden increasingly frustrated with the trump administration's refusal to do anything in the way of transition to the incoming administration is gotten past the point of petulance right now and gotten right down to something that is dangerous for our national security. You had a chance to put up or shut up. You couldn't put up so shut up. He no he didn't use those words. Of course he was much more tactful than that but he says the time to act is over and we'll be talking about the process of getting the votes certified. It should come to an end on monday. We're recording on sunday. And on monday both michigan and pennsylvania are scheduled to certify the outcome of the election if those two states do with the laws of their states require them to do and their boards of canvassers. Certified the vote. it's over. It is over because georgia's over the only swing state that will still not be certified will be arizona and that just adds to joe biden's margin. "This division over masks continues to just baffled me you've got a resolution in the legislature that's been introduced now by some of the more extreme right wing members of the legislature calling for the impeachment of the governor whitmer which is absolutely ridiculous. I will say that the republican leaders of the legislature said. That's going nowhere. Certainly what they should say absolutely ridiculous. But you've still got members of the legislature on the republican side showing procession showing up for committee meetings without wearing masks as a result. You've got up a pandemic certainly at the white house where everybody's getting you'll now. Donald junior seems to have tested positive among others and rudy. Giuliani son has tested positive. And it goes on and on and on and in lansing most of the people that are testing positive in the political world are on the republican side. The anti mask side It's just a political move by some people that are very extreme calling basically for the removal of the governor for doing her job. Yeah if you read that The articles of impeachment. It was just opinion based you know. She's she's being mean as basically what it comes down to an infringing on our liberty. That's kind of how i took that. But one of the things that really freaks me out about this is strictly response. Which says that the energy towards impeachment it would be better spent And other efforts quote. I think we have a big job ahead of us to evaluate all that we have observed in this most recent election cycle unquote. So i don't know what that means but it does tell me that they're still going to be focused on politics rather than solving problems are governing in a good way. We're getting mixed message. Even from on the issue of masks. He says on one side that he is willing to appear in a public service announcement with the governor to encourage mask us. But on the other side he says that a mandate for mask usage in public places is an illogical mandate right. Now the best thing to do is inform inspire and then give them call to action where they can actually own it and be part of it versus feeling like they're being talked down to. That's a dice theory but the reality is there are going to be some people who continue to follow the example of donald trump and his people and unless they are told. You have to do this or face. Possible legal consequences. They're simply not going to abide. They just say you know personal freedom. And this and that i understand the arguments they're making. I think they're nonsensical. The arguments are out there. But there comes a time when you've just got to say enough is enough..

Doesn't want you to forget MSU board cheer Dianne Byrum, who has a statewide committee to protect healthcare in Michigan blasted James at an online news conference to drive home. The point John James clearly stance with President, Donald, trump, and Republicans in Washington DC. James has called the affordable care act a monstrosity. and has vowed to work his Taylor to remove it, and the bottom line is he has no plan to protect people with preexisting conditions. If the same news conference congressional candidate John, holy shared the theme as he went after three decade. Congressman. Fred Upton given the chance congressman. Voted against allowing Medicare and Medicaid to negotiate. For lower prescription drug prices by voting against HR three. Now in the State House. I've actually authored resolutions that would call on Congress to have the authority to allow Medicare. Medicaid. To Negotiate for lower prescription drug prices significantly for the Hugli campaign the sixth district of Michigan has been added to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committees Red to blue list, which means that National Democrats are reporting money into that district because they think they can flip it knack for it up out of office it joins the third district, the Justin Amash seat as one the Democrats are targeting for a flip where Michigan was. Republican congressional delegation, just one cycle ago. It could be a democratic majority after this next election if they flip those two seats or either one of them for that matter, well, we'd be like if we didn't take a moment to dwell on what has to be the best political speech of the year bull, Connor may be gone. But today we witnessed with our own eyes police officers kneeling on the next black Americans. George Wallace may be gone. But. We can witness our federal government sending agents to use tear gas and batons against peaceful demonstrators. We may no longer have to. Be The number of jelly beans in a jar in order to cast a ballot. But even as we sit here. There are those in power who are doing their darndest. To discourage people from voting. By closing polling locations. Targeting minorities and students with restricted by walls and attacking our voting rights with surgical precision. Even. Undermining the postal service in the run-up to watch. Let's go to be dependent on. What's so people don't get sick. John Lewis would have loved it. He whatever. You know we just talked about what absentee voting is going to be like in the primary and. If he had continued on that speech, he could've come right down into the details of the Michigan legislature and what they're doing not allowing us to look at those ballots early in terms of them up and preparing them and just fighting everything we're doing to make voting more decibel and just fighting everything they can that we're doing that makes voting marks, Estelle. I thought was really good to see George Bush there at the funeral as much as I dislike George Bush when he was president is bad as I think he was as president it's important. For the symbolism of somebody who is what John Lewis political opponents to be there the fact that Donald Trump wasn't there that donald trump didn't go to the capital and he was lying in state there says, everything you need to know about Donald Trump is a person and the one thing that you've always seen at least that I recall always seeing my life pine is that win. There is a ceremony or some event that one president goes to all presidents going sit next to each other all former presidents and it is used somewhat. I don't know significant in that Donald. Trump just doesn't seem to care about that. It was the same soon that you had at the John. McCain. Funeral the only difference was Jimmy Carter passed on this when sent a letter for. Health reasons which is understandable to occurs what one, hundred, twenty, five years old or something like that. He couldn't take the risk of attending in a crowd like that. But the the other three living ex presidents were there at the McCain funeral, they're all there and again, trump didn't show up on track the became Pantley made it clear that in want him there and that's it. For the country the other thing too that with Donald Trump's pettiness, there's going to be no ceremony unveiling the Barack Obama Portrait of the White House, which is traditional. It's always done during the next president's term and it doesn't matter about party politics. There's documentation to this happening time after time after time, but trump won't allowed to have Barack Obama in the White House sharing ceremony with him. Another polling starring this time story of leadership. Americans are pretty united when it comes to judging governors as the state struggle with the pandemic firm. Bold leadership equals high approval ratings. And you see this in the Washington Post article on some recent polls that show that the people like governor Whitmer who took action despite what they thought would be popular. But they took action based on what the data was telling them. What would be the best way to save lives or popularity and support for what they've done has just increased throughout the pandemic. Your approval rating according to the most recent polls is at sixty four percent to put that in context she won the election with fifty five percent of the vote is going up during her term even though it's been a shit show for two years, not her fault though she's doing the right thing and people appreciate it for the most part Governor Dewine Republican of Ohio seventy, five percent approval that may go down. Because Ohio is really having problems now with covid nineteen infections rising but other high ratings again for governors that have taken bold action in Pennsylvania Cooper North Carolina, Everson Wisconsin Camp in Georgia's at fifty. Four percent which I find very troubling because he's probably been one of the nation's worst governors when it comes to handling the pandemic, then you get down to Abbott in Texas into Santa's in Florida, Dec and Arizona the three big hot spots in the nation. They are all under water right now and they deserve to be underwater got friends in all three states when I talked with them, they are just livid or the performance of their governors. I used to say what I was when I was working government they say, well, you're just being political I said, no, the best politics is doing a good job. And these guys that are doing a good job getting high approval ratings despite the fact that they're doing a tremendous job in a very bad beds situation. And once again, we get to our competition for the political attack at of the week and it was a tough competition. The Lincoln projects got a really good a new longer form attack on the trump administration. It's a six minute mini drama directed by Hollywood feature film director John Turtle Tub, and it stars veteran character actor, Stephen Root. You may not know his name, but you'll recognizes voices immediately and you'll recognize him even though he's behind a.

"MVP campaign, which is an outreach camping to get more people involved in working at foals and less lesson is really important to keep election day run because. So many of the poll workers historically been people like me. Older people retirees for the most part who basically saying this election there's no way we going to expose ourselves our health to the possibilities of catching the virus while manning the polling places said to get a lot of younger people in there and recruiting five thousand people was a big deal. The other thing I found really fascinating about this. This whole process is a great article in bridge, which we will link to, which shows that Michigan has more registered voters than we have people. Basically, we have according to the Census Bureau Likely Seven, point four, seven, two, million, eligible voters we have seven point seven million who are actually registered to vote. And they take that as criticism of Jocelyn Benson but actually, it's a criticism of her predecessor Ruth Johnson for not keeping voting rolls up to date and one of the side benefits of having mailed out these APPs and voter applications to every voter in the state is it helped Jocelyn Benson clean up the list and she can get rid of a lot of voters who simply are no longer eligible to vote either because they've moved out of state or more likely. Because they've passed away and then by joining this multi-state Compaq also helps clean up the voter rolls as well. So the chances of voter fraud widespread voter fraud virtually nil they always have been virtually nilly stuff the president's spouting his pure Baloney the challenge is going to be is going to be several days before we know if some of these close primaries are decided and in November is very likely, Michigan's electoral votes won't be known until about a week after the election. and. Just a reminder to take your absentee ballot for the primary to your local clerk or to a dropbox there's not enough time for you to mail it anymore there is a list of locations on the Secretary of State website where you can drop off your ballot in secure dropbox and I think that most of our listeners probably know this but they should share the information widely within their own networks. There's just Not enough time to mail those ballots back now before the Tuesday primary, we did get a Supreme Court ruling the legislature has to act to allow ballot received after election day to be counted, the legislature refused to do that the legislature so far is also refused to enact legislation, which would allow clerks start processing ballots before election. Day in Florida, they can start processing them I. Think it's three weeks before the election they. Don't count them until election day, but they can get him out of the envelopes get him flat and get them ready to feed into the Tabula there's and all that. But in Michigan, they can't do that until election day and that's what's going to slow down the count. It's on the legislature to fix that. But apparently the legislature with Donald trump that the more chaos we have in November in the election the better. It is for Republicans speaking of chaos. There are many primary contests on the ballot, but two of the most interesting involved candidates for Congress first, there's the rematch Wayne County between Congresswoman Receipts Leave and Detroit Council President Brandon Jones, and this is an interesting match because it has such a weird history John Conyers left Congress and Jones was elected to serve out his term and repeated to lead was elected to serve the next turn. Swing election. Yeah it was crazy and not long ago. We were wondering if Rashid until they could even keep that seat but it looks like she's got a ton of money as of June thirtieth she had one point three million compared to twelve thousand dollars for Jones, and in the last couple of weeks, she's wrapped up some big endorsements Nancy Pelosi Dana Nessel I saw just. Endorsed were I think in the past week? Brenda Johnson has a lot of local endorsements though SAR POLAS has to leave up fifty to twenty, four percent, but with twenty three percent undecided and that's a big undecided number and I don't know. I I don't have any insight as to how that would come in I. Don't know you don't know about you but I think receipts leave will be reelected. It looks like she's in good shape mostly because of financial and all the publicity she's gotten for being the anti-trump beginning with impeach the motherfucker and taking it from there has served her well and friend Ejaz Jazz's campaign has basically been. This is a majority African American district. We should have an African American member of Congress but that didn't cut it and Brenda Jones has said that Rashid slave hasn't done enough for the district, but that's hard to make. Stiff. Win Repeated Salinas. Always they're always talking about the district always in the district brought people like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren to the district. That's just a hard thing to make stick against her on the western side of the State Republicans, Peter Mayer and Linda F are the leading candidates in the primary to replace former Republican turned independent. Justin Amash with the winner taking on Democrat Hillary Scholten scholten. By the way, we'll be our guests on the podcast next. Meyer is the grandson of Fred Meyer. Yeah. He's the man who built the of Midwest chain of stores. After diligence a first time state legislator representing Kent County. She formerly was corporate communications director for universal forest products. That's a company whose principal stockholder GOP BIGWIG pizza via the campaign has gone negative on both sides, which is what you probably would expect in a tight primary each of them taking the TV ads attacking their opponent is not being.

Why don't we put in the light of played on them taxing them, what we making them how to drive license to prove that they can properly, Dr affectively why we making them have insurance when they run into cars road. People have made that argument many times, but I'm not sure you would obviously have to exempt kids right children on bikes, things like that. Buddy over a certain age.
