"And so you look at someone like Trump the appeal of Trump the things that we thought that you and I and a lot of People who consider themselves to be fairly sensible thought was the way Donald Trump talked about people insulted people, uh, was a deal breaker that voters would never go for that. Voters love that. That's one of the things that you know Donald Trump is not a policy guy. Donald Trump. No, I I and Donald Trump, he illustrated agreements He gave voice to these grievances that his supporters had you asking supporters like what has he actually done for you? What did he give you? Health care, e promised, you know. Did he build the wall? He said he was going to build. Well, No, uh, give tax breaks to the ritual. He did do that. Um, But Donald Trump gave voice to this agreement. And so the fact that he is a smash mouth guy, maybe a feature not a bug in terms of his his reelection chances. I'm not sure As I recall the reason that he defeated I believe we have defeated Alderman Arena. John Arena. Yes, go around, and it was fairly close and the issue and that was arena was more pro development work was more working on trying to get low income housing into the ward. And people were. Yes, there was a building that was going up and Alderman Arenas supported having. I think it was eight. Affordable units in the building and the limit that they were only going to go to vets. I mean disabled and they were for disabled vets and and there was There was a lot of subtext. A lot of talk that it was, um, that Alderman Arena was viewed as bringing potentially unsavory elements into the ward. I don't know how you read that, whether you read that as poor people or people of color. Um, you know, and that it was his undoing. And then we get Jim Gardner. And then we get some gardener and but I don't know that people who wanted that whole basket of deplorable behavior, so to speak with Gardner. I don't know that death was wondering what they want because When you were living in the city, and you haven't alderman representing your interests in City Council, you want that Alderman to be effective. You want that altered to be able to go to the mayor's office and put in a titch for something or ask his or her fellow alderman for some sort of variances or help? And to be able to represent the ward. I think you make a very good point, John, which is that if it becomes clear to the people in the ward is supported that he is no longer effective because With his behavior that he's going to be as a pariah on the council. I imagine they could probably skip into some of his his committee assignment, and whenever he wants anything, he's not going to get it. This is constituents will say, Well, this isn't doing us any good at all, because Gardner is not going to be able to get what get what we want out of our own because you know, ultimate are essentially providers of Ward services. That's really what people want from them. They want to be able to call their automatic office and get tree trimmed and get there. I get a new trash them in their alley and so on, and street lights are out and that kind of thing that's and if the ultimate is less effective at things like that, then you wanted to be Then he's got to go. I think that's that's where the rubber is going to meet the road on this controversy. Well, we hopefully will get more information about this. I mean, even though I don't know how much time he has on his hands since you know, he basically resigned over the summer, But, um, Mayor Lightfoot has asked departing Inspector General Joe Ferguson. To look into this and you know, I thought what she said made sense rather than a death by 1000 cuts. Let's just commit to an investigation into what he did what he didn't do and and come to a conclusion and then will be done with this. And I think that makes a lot of sense, though. I don't know if I how much energy or time Joe Ferguson is going to have. As he's got one ft out the door to do this, but I think the idea of somebody who is independent from all of this looking into it is a good idea. Yeah, I think it's a great idea for them to do that. I I have high regard for killed Ferguson and I'm sorry that he's leaving. I don't know exactly why Mayor Lightfoot thought that she had sort of push him out the door. But he certainly is able to juggle several balls at a time. And I think he could certainly get an investigation underway here. But again, I don't know what the purpose is of such a thing. Um, what is it? What is the end Goal of it is just I mean, if we can find Violations of the law. That's important, But then, of course that would have to be instead of the Yeah, I think that's the point of her asking for the investigation as to whether or not city services were denied. Because of people's political opinions. Yeah, or political action. Sure. And, um and that is that you know that's going to be some power and depending on how it's done, and I'll blame there was now a flagrant was. You might have an indicted ball offense. But again, as I say, let's say he gets indicted tomorrow. When is he going to go on trial? And the issue is up to the election? I think in a little less than two years, right, you're probably early 2023. Language, which is when the primary which is when all these automatic elections decided. And he would not be. You know, there's our justice system does not move that quickly so that he would be witnessed Alderman Burke, who was indicted. I was just going to say Case in point. And Burke? Yeah. So So, you know the idea that you can get him out of office early. It's going. This is going to have to be a matter of appealing to his conscience and appealing to his constituency. Demand that he leaves, uh, like, I think he should leave. I think that if there is a way of what we have seen so far, there's out with Joe Ferguson's investigation and certainly seems like Black club and and you know, the people's fabric have got the goods on him, Then it's really time for him to go. But there is no mechanism. There's no lever in the law and get him out. And a lot of politicians have decided and found it, You know, just demanded. I go make my day. I don't care. I'm staying here. I have this power and maybe this will blow over in two years. Probably what he's about. There. I'm talking with Eric Zorn, former Chicago Tribune columnist. Now he has his own newsletter, The picky in Sentinel. We are going to come back and talk to him a little bit more about that. And maybe pin him down on some ideas about media in general when we come back after news Diabetes, high blood pressure, anxiety meds..

They would be at the beginning of the season. Chris chris waiting a long time for this. We'll talk to me about new york knicks. One twelve of the last thirteen games. Nine game winning streak we. Everyone knows what's going on with them. They're winning games there over the the the the question first winning season. I'm taking all your thunder but please credit talked to us. Yeah john arena dream right now or is this is this. Is this happening. I don't know who the knicks have won twelve of their less thirteen games. And are maybe the hottest team in basketball whereas. I don't think i would have ever associated with the next at least in the next in the past. Five based the have they played in the past five years but led by julius randle who shows no signs of slowing down. The knicks are currently the fourth seed in the nba. John if someone told you before the start of the nba season that the knicks may have home court advantage in a playoff series. I just wouldn't believe them but this team is tough. Aniston waste win and they still hold the best defense in the nba in opponents points per game at only one of four point six the next you however have tough schedule. Head playing the nuggets. The celtics clippers sons and lakers Those are powerhouse teams and the knicks. You have a shot at keeping their fourth seat but they. They need to keep a strong effort going in need strong performances from other players. Besides rentals as well such as rg bear de rose manual quickly. Unfortunately to go from that fantastic thing you just said to toronto raptors christie. Close the show. Please let us know. What's yeah john on too much to say about the rapper's today but the raptors are one and three in the past week and currently eleven seed. There are four point five games out of its seat and three games out of ten seed for the plane tournament. The chances seem pretty slim that the raptors will be in the playoffs especially considering they have relatively difficult schedule ahead of them overall. This has been a pretty disappointing season especially considering they won the title only two years ago. But it's been pretty disappointing for raptors team. Who actually has a fair amount of talent with guys like a siaka lowery gary. Junior vanfleet chris boucher but they have struggled this season. So hopefully doesn't look too promising for this year's playoffs but hopefully they can get turned around for next season..

"And how did I put this connection together? Dark money and so forth. The book's called On Freedom of the Press. You can carry two page 1 87, 1, 88 and 1 89 where I get into this somewhat because people forget S o those back benches on radio and TV who want to use this thing? See, evening or tomorrow? There you go. By the way, just as a footnote. John Arena was the attorney general back then, and despite all this, she would never appoint an independent counsel to investigate it because she knew Despite all the other appointments she made This one would take down the Clintons. This was the communist Chinese regime. Through its military wing. Putting millions of dollars into the coffers of the DNC, Democratic candidates Clinton for president and the Clinton Defense Fund. Now, While some of these stooges Johnny Chung reality, the other were punished. Most of them were not. No, Joe Biden and his family have much more. Substantive, deeper, ubiquitous ties to the communist regime in China than Clinton ever had. Now, if you're ji and you're sitting there and you're thinking yourself, who would I rather have his president? It would be Biden. A man trying candidate. Remember, we had James O'Keefe on the program with his great project Veritas. It's one of the Few remaining investigative reporting organizations in America. And remember. The clip. You won't but I'll play it for you. Jeff Zucker. Saying he doesn't want to get into this New York post stuff for any of the rest of it involving Hunter by no way. Then David Charlie in Vice president and CNN political director. He chimes in two, so a complete cover up. That has done enormous damage to our country, enormous damage to our electoral system. Had to go. Think on the bright Bart, New York Post Fox News Rabbit Hole of Hunter Biden, which I don't think anybody outside of that world understood. Last night, The Wall Street Journal reported that their review of all for the record, so showed no role for Joe Biden on the No, no, no on the Chinese deal, and yes, I d put more credibility in the Wall Street journal that I do in the New York Post. Obviously, we're not going with the New York Post story right now on Dr Biden and which seems to be giving its marching orders, The Fox News and the right wing. I could remember about what the Talk about the day. Obviously, 100 back employer is quoted in The New York Post piece of most continue to report out. This is the very stuff that the president was impeached. Turn this on Trump. Attack Fox. They attack the New York Post. They attacked, right, Bart, who has the attack here. They turn this into a Donald Trump story. When there's nothing do it, Donald Trump. Donald Trump's try and bring attention to it. This is a very sick group of people mentally ill mentally unhinged. Obsessive. People. From the top down, sucker, Hayley in all the rest of them. They're a disgrace. They have destroyed their own profession. I guess I will be okay. But they You're a big part of the poison that is leached into our system. Go ahead. The committee's looked at and found nothing wrong in Joe Biden's interactions with Ukrainians. That's simply not correct, by the way with the with Johnson and Grassley, but go ahead. Having an email that perhaps there was a meeting with someone from Marie's MMA. He's uh, things ready. Giuliani's sort of you know what's interesting about this guy rambling on he has no idea. With the New York Post reported. There's no idea where Rudy Giuliani was saying he has no idea. He's mumbling and stumbling and he's bringing up Ukraine and this, that's fine. But this is a big story, particularly about China. That related to the hard drive. And where the first hand testimony was coming from. And he has no idea what's going on and he doesn't carry. They just dismissed it. Go ahead. Put the ball in the closing days of the campaign, Jeff interesting on the charisma story, and we should be awfully careful about that, obviously, but I do think there's a media story of what in the world are, uh, Maggie Haberman and, uh, take sure doing re tweeting that story. So Jake Sherman Maggi Hammerman. Other reporters so called What are they doing on the Internet? Even talking about this New York Post story. What is wrong with them? I thought we were all in this together. I thought we were the Pretoria in guard. And by the way, they did not promote the story at all. A little tweet here in a little tweet there. Go ahead. That's it. Now the communist Chinese have always preferred the Democrat Party. Yes, Diane Franken Feinstein. Ask Bill Clinton as I was just explaining in the DNC. You don't see a lot of their money flowing into the Republican ranks. Behind Republican candidates. You know, it's like all this fraud going on out there you notice the Democrats. Haven't found any fraud in any of the states. The post office works so beautifully this time rose Unbelievable. Unbelievable. But now we have this guy Eric Swalwell. We've never liked. In fact, we've always despised you could just see what a sleaze ball he is from Day one. He won't deny whether he had an affair with a communist Chinese spy. It seems to me if you didn't have an affair with a Communist Chinese value would say so, Mr. Producer, Open your microphone, please. Would you Did you have an affair with Fong Fong? The Communist Buy from China yesterday? I did not. You did not. Ricci v. Mr Calls for an open your microphone. Would you play? Did you have an affair with Fong Fong? The Communist Chinese by? Yes, sir. No, no, sir. And neither did I. So that's three of us who did not. Eric Swalwell to give an affair with a Communist spy by the name of Fong Fong. By the way, you can't make this stuff up. I'm sorry that's classified. And besides, this was leaked in order to embarrass me and to harm me because I went after Trump during. Just asked a question. Did you or didn't you? "When you saw Woody's temper tantrum Well, I've seen many before. Yes. So that woman was just one of many, but In the East. He really never laid a punch on him. If you study that film. Yeah, and I've told us a lot of people, you know, they take the time and look at it. What do you came up with his left hand underneath his kin. And never landed anything. He pushed him. He didn't hit him. He just pushed him. And if you look at that, that's the way it was, but it was too late. Yeah, and that's not the way the official Sauder people. And then that was his last left coaching. Yeah. Did you know I did You feel like that was the end of Woody that evening? Yes, I did. Honestly, I did. I said. In fact, I turned on my wife and I said Emily I said he's gone. He's gone of guarantee it. They've been awaiting toe choir him for Humpty, how many days and how many months and how many years they finally got their opportunity in the team on the plane said that what he came over the intercom And said he's no longer the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the players were just Absolutely stunned, and they and Donnelly said it took him a half hour to get off the plane. You know that everybody sat there silent. Right, right. It was a sad day. I mean, you know, it's so emotional for anybody that really like 40, and I sure did like him. Absolutely. Yes. And, uh It was fun several years ago when I covered the Bangles, and you came to Georgetown College for training camp, instead of sitting around the dinner table with assistant coach Mark Duffner of the Bangles. I greatly greatly admire what a what a great great guy and he said that you had the most popular name at Ohio State because the freshman after a couple days would say I want my mommy. John. Mama, I want my money. Oh, great. That was just phenomenal. Yeah, my dad. Something else. Wow. Yeah. Could you tell the Can you tell the hot chocolate story with the great Pete Johnson? In a CliffsNotes version. Uh, you know what? You know, I vaguely remember that. Oh, yeah. Okay. Okay. I do. I think you had to try to keep all the you know. What do you want the team to have hot chocolate. What the night before the game and trying to keep what 50 to 70 Hot chocolate's hot You know was was difficult. And P. Johnson, one of his hot chocolate I tried to remember I tried to remember that story. But I wanted to forget the thrill. Absolutely trying, because boy, he got so mad at me. I'll tell you what he says, Mommy, you cussed me out a little bit and said I said Hot chocolate. That is the horse, Pete. You know, he really, really helped me out when he tested Coach. This is cool. Yeah, No. Would he jumped all over me? No doubt. Wow. You make sure you make sure you get that caught right now. Send it down. Sent it back, man. Unbelievable. You know yet temper tantrums, and I was the track and cross country manager right down the hall. From what? He's office. It's John Arena. And so I heard some outbursts. But, you know, tear in his hat. You know, kick and guys in the butt. Grab him by the face mask. Wow. Do you have a favorite woody story? Whether it was a motivational speech or Personal One of them one of the funniest Tory's Esko serpent and was really trying to coach with because he had a great sense of humor. But he didn't show that when he was around, Woody, and he would tell me, John, Don't be careful here. Now we're the word, dangerous territory and what he had fallen down. He'd thrown his watch in a practice that was Yeah, in this call late fall, and it was black outside. You couldn't see a thing, but he threw that watch down, and he sort of went for it, and he slipped and he fell on the church and in those days Woody. One of the field wet getting ready for the you know the Rainstorms and snow. Everything we had coming up. But anyway what? He tried to get up and start grab me. Don't don't help me. Don't help him. Just let him go. So we let him go. And all of a sudden he started Hydra planing because he was trying to get up and he kept waving his arms. And all of a sudden water was coming up to his belly. And, you know, splashing. It was so funny. I mean, you couldn't believe it. And finally he tried to get up and he couldn't quite make it in one of the Managers went over there to try to help him. He cuts him out. He said. Get out here. I can get up and that gave him the energy toe. Pop up family. Oh, wow. Which starts is a John. Welcome to the Big 10. Yes, you know, looking back, Coach John. Mommy's with us from Fairport Harbor, Ohio, talked in the northeast corner of the state. And you know when you're looking back, you know, Woody, and you know the three yards and a cloud of dust philosophy that he had Then it was just so painful right around that time when Arch least er came, you know, just making the change to, um or wide open offense and to think it where things are today. It's just unbelievable. Yes, it is. That was unbelievable Time and I remember him, Boy. He was a good good quarterback. But George's chop was his coach and He did a real nice job. I think that first game he had a little trouble. We had a couple of intercepted. That was it. I thought, but he ended up playing a lot so and he was a great athlete. Gambling debt to him, no doubt who bad, no doubt. And but it was just Woody being very hardheaded with his offensive philosophy, man, three yards and a cloud of dust. That's the way it was. Yep. Yep, the old school But I'll tell you what Chicky was one of the neatest guys you'd ever wanna meet. When you're in trouble or needed something, and it was necessary. What he'd always come to your aid. He was. He was a great coach. Great person that he doesn't seem like it, Cheryl incidences. Now, as far as what do the Buckeyes have to do to end this curse tomorrow night in the Sugar Bowl against the Clemson Tigers? Well, they better play perfect balls. Because Clemson is much like Alabama. They've got a lot of talent. And we are. I think a little bit behind him this year as far as what we've had in the past, so we got to play a perfect game. That's that's the only thing I could say. And John. We know that Ohio State is Fired up for this game. I mean, just all the reminders of last year's Game. You know they're out there. And so we know that the Buckeyes are going to be mentally ready. Can they channel that emotion? Onto performance on the field. That's what's so huge and finishing in the red Zone because field goals ain't gonna cut it. Touchdowns will Yes. You hit it right on the head chick. You know, Like I said, they're gonna have to play a perfect game and guys, we're gonna have to step up. It haven't stepped up all year. Maybe they haven't stepped up until now. But let's hope they do because I think we have a chance, but it's gonna be tough. And to think back, you know, in your day and how things you know have changed. The Ohio State brand, John You know to be able to get, say the top ranked quarterback in the nation out of universe out of Texas to come to Ohio State here. And I mean, it's just huge the talent that they're accumulating. Information. I hope the guys stay. That's the biggest thing. You know. You get 33 top quarterbacks in the United States with us now and I hope hope they play. You know, I hope they don't all leave. And that's you in agreement with with urban Meyer, you know to expand the playoffs because Teams that aren't fighting for a national championship..
