"New for maverick penalize. And he's gotten a grand total of two days of testing to get ready for all of that. But i'm still absolutely going to be watching maverick in this race. Because i do think he could do. Something the bike of course is coming off. That huge first ever podium in silverstone which is going to be a gigantic boost for everybody associated with the provia. So all the people working around maverick and been y'all's himself has been good here. He's finished fourth four times for two for manufacturers so he can be fast here. We saw last weekend. The bike can be fast. But most importantly maverick is going to be motivated. Motivated to show yamaha to show his detractors into prove not just to us but also to himself that he hasn't made a mistake a terrible mistake and that he will have a better attitude and a better outlook with a fresh start. Does that mean he'll be on the podium. No i'm not expecting that at all. But i do think he could run top ten. He'll be trying hard. He just has to be careful not to try too hard and make a mistake as a result. And if we're watching the mun y'all as well then we've also got to keep an eye on al. H spa grow as well. Like i mentioned probably has endless momentum. Right now coming out of silverstone and la's should be feeling even more confident considering his history in aragon it's in his home country the site of his only other motogp podium back in two thousand fourteen. But he's been very consistent here over the years as well finishing either six or seven at every era gombe race from two thousand fifteen two thousand nineteen remember. The podium was the year before that streak started and he only ended that streak of finishes seventh or better last season. So in part for may of the british gp allies said. His goal was to make that race speed. The beginning be the start of what's going to happen going forward. He was already focused on this race as he was celebrating. That one. you take that you take the homefield advantage. Take a little bit of motivation. Not to get beat or embarrassed by maverick vanilla. First time out. And i think he's prime for another top six or seven run. Maybe even more than that. I'm and then after l. a. Sh we move on from apprecia- to cardi and i'm going to actually combine two riders here with my next pick johann zarco and petco back and we started talking about to kottayam moment ago in the favorites column. Jack miller now. Let's discuss those other. Two guys could just as easily be the top two cardi rider back. Ni- is definitely the more interesting case here for me. Because he's got a little something to prove because he backed up one of his best performances of the year in austria. With one of his worst at silverstone now he says it tires where the main culprit in his performance in the british gp and you know based on how uncharacteristic that finish was compared to the rest of the season. I tend to believe that. But while i expect to bounceback. I'm just not quite sure how far because petco hasn't had a points finish here at all emoji p. Although he was second in his motorcycle championship season so the jury is still out on. Just how well he can do here. What the ceiling is for him. Meanwhile zarko british gp was also surprisingly out of form but his results have been a little bit better when it comes to aragonese scored a top five in the second race last year and that was the last time that he was here. So that leaves me a little bit more optimistic of another run back somewhere in the top ten so i would say that both of those riders have some potential here. Just not sure that either one has quite as much as jack miller and they're gonna have a lot of competition this weekend to so aiming for the top ten i think would be a good start coming off of bab races for both sarko and bag ni- and then let's wrap up the watchlist with a couple of quick hits here a couple of writers that i think could make a very interesting play to surprise us by the end of the weekend. A number one brad bender. He's really suddenly flip flop positions in that team with miguel olivera. I mean we're all of our looked fantastic going into the summer break been. There is the one that's come out turning heads afterwards grabbing the lead role there katya. Miguel is still kind of banged up in recovering from that wrist injury. He's looked excellent in the process and not just with that austria win. He's won twice in motoo but qualifying is still his arch nemesis. Even more so than the suzuki's this year bender has really really struggled in qualifying and because of that he's had to make up a ton of spots to get all of the results that he's gotten this year so if he can figure out a way to start on the first two or three rows. This guy's limit he could absolutely Compete for a podium. But if he's outside of that it's going to be tough. It's gonna be really tough for him in this race. Then we've got talking nakagomi and taka has not been consistent at all this season but arrogant was his strongest track last year finished fifth race. One then grabbed. Everyone's attention by qualifying on the pole for race to the entire paddock was talking about him in the nerves. Got the better of any bended a few corners in but we know he can be fast. Here we know honda's can be fast here and we know he's got the potential surprise in this race and speaking of honda's and speaking of surprises it was last year at this track. That alex marquez looked a heck of a lot like his big brother battling his way to a second place dry result just one race after doing the same thing in the wet at loma. This season hasn't been terribly mine. Too little marquez. But he's quietly getting better having strung together three straight top ten finishes and i think he'll be confident he can do that again..

"Now as we know his season hasn't gone the way that he's one of the two so far but that return to the podium a week and a half ago in the british. Ep was the perfect momentum. Builder for arrogant like silverstone. His last time here not too shabby at all with a win in race. One starting from tenth on the grid then he had a second place in race two after qualifying on the front row. How good he is at. Aragon us zouqi actually qualified. Well it's a rare feat for them. So suzuki was good all the way around here last year. Double podiums in both races. It's not a huge surprise. Considering aragones combination of fast and slow turns and very flowing corners where corner speed edge can both be huge benefit but remember they were also able to hold off the charge on that backstretch in those races as well and that was without the rear ride height device which is gonna make things a little bit easier for them versus the dukakis and the hondas of the world. So when you take a look at rennes in the context of what happened in silverstone where he was able to convert confidence in past success to current results. Well there's no reason to think that he's not gonna be able to do that again and arrogant where his successes have been bigger and even more recent so despite the results would absolutely consider alex. Rinse to be a contender in this race. And seeing as we were just talking about suzuki's double podiums in both races last year. It's no big surprise. Then that the next router. I wanna talk about also riding a suzuki prince's teammate. Show mirror He finished third. Im- both arrogant races last year and those were critical finishes in his championship. Run as well so we already has a little bit of confidence coming in. But then there silverstone up until the british gp mir have been thoroughly outpacing his teammate consistently running at or near the back of the podium. But he wasn't able to make those tires last as well as wins in the british. Gp and as a result was coming off a race where he was tied for his lowest finish of the season. Now that finish was only ninth but still he. Obviously if he wants to be in the championship run is going to have to get back on the podium and is gonna more importantly have to win racist. I think that seeing rans up game is going to motivate joanne to rebound and challenge for the top suzuki spot again. Not that miriam rinse. Don't get along or anything but your teammate. Always is your greatest motivation. So both zeki riders. Qualifying is going to be critical but especially for mere who starting spots have slowly slipped. He came out of the gate strong in syria at the head of the third row but now he's drifted back to eleventh to start the last round if he can turn that around and move. Those qualifying spots forward again within suzuki can absolutely go after another double podium performance in this race now with my final pick for the favorites i do have to put do khadi writer on the list now. I think it's important to point out that do coty haven't won emoji mo. Gp race at aragon since the series made its debut in two thousand ten. And yes that was with casey stone or who likely could have written a moped that day instill finished somewhere on the podium. But they had their fair share podiums over the past few seasons and they have to factory riders right now that are much better at going around corners them pretty much anyone. They've had since stone or and on top of that they have bikes. That are far more capable of tackling the multiple challenges of this track in. Not just that big backstretch. Don't get me wrong though. Of course they're gonna love that big backstretch if they happen to be leading the race but which to colorado do you go with here. That's the difficult question. At least as far as i'm concerned because it seems like it's every other round that bag nyo were jack miller look great but not both at the same time and now as johann zarco has started to be kind of inconsistent as well now as long as one of those three does well any trace while that puts them in better shape when it comes to the constructor standings as long as either back ni- or miller look really good. Well that can help them in the team championship but for the rider title. Somebody in that group is going to have to step up who. I'm not one hundred percent. Certain but jack miller for me has the most going for him as far as arrogant is concerned. He's got some momentum coming off of that great battle for the podium and silverstone even though he lost out any as a podium here as well he finished third back in two thousand nine hundred nineteen after another last lap battle for the podium. This swim with maverick daniela's that he did come out on top in. I know what it is about jack and last lap podium battles but he's really really into those things So i'm going with miller as the best bet into dukakis field and putting him on the favorite list but you could easily plug bagai into this slot as well and if you wanted to argue for zarko i would probably listen to you on that one too. But for me the difficulty rider that goes into favorites list this weekend. At aragon jack miller now that rounds out my favorites list. But those aren't the only riders. I'm going to be keeping my eye on this weekend. I'll by watchlist guys. Who i think have serious top. Ten potential move. They have a really good day they could open the door. The top five and maybe even sneak into a podium position in the first rider. I'm going to start off my watchlist with yup. Maverick venezuela's yeah there. We go now things get a little bit interesting and we have some fun. Yeah i know this is his first race with a new team. A new manufacturer a new engine layout the whole nine. Everything is.

"Wouldn't blame yamaha. If they don't feel they can trust him to try to get good results especially not in the wake of the appropriate deal in that announcement. Because you know if maverick had gotten back on the almond finished dead last every race from here on out what difference would it. Really even make to maverick. I mean it's not going to affect whether he has a gig next season or not and you could make him look kind of bad not trying if it was provable that he wasn't trying but it probably doesn't care about that and that's all that really matters to him right now and on top of it. If he went out there and didn't try and finished very poorly he can just turn the whole thing around and blame it on yamaha blaming on the bike. He did that when he was happy with them so of course he would try to do that when he was unhappy with them and then they would feel compelled to defend themselves and then it just gets weird and uncomfortable the rest of the season and then on top of that yamaha gain the ability to start really testing parts for twenty twenty two on that second bike and yeah that luxury does come at the expense of the team championship or at least endangering their bid for the team championship. But that really would have hinged on maverick getting on the m one and getting consistent results consistently good results and that was kind of up in the air so it still may have been a bit of a gamble one way or the other even though as we talked about before of is that rides to his potential would've given yamaha a massively better shot at winning the team title and so in some ways. They're really writing that off but as we'll talk about here in a couple of minutes maybe they still have an answer to up their sleeve that they haven't played yet. I'm but still one way or the other. Even though maverick benefits on one side and yamaha certainly benefits on. There's this is still crazy to think about. I mean this is in a situation like joins zarko at ktm. There were no discernible results. It just wasn't working in both sides understood that and they decided the partways really more because ktm wanted to develop for the next year. It's not that they didn't want to be nice to zarko. I mean he would've stuck around and they would have him stick around till the end of the year had. They not had the new stuff that they wanted to develop for last season. But in this case this is a writer with a win and two podiums this season. He's six overall in points. And that's what the couple of terrible races and not only is he leaving a factory team that is leading the rider constructor and team championships right now but he may actually end up bracing for another factory team before the end of the year and again this is not like the johann zarco situation. Yes sarko wrote a honda at the end of that season. But it wasn't the same thing i mean. This is legitimately a guy who could have been an started out the year as a title contender dumping the best manufacturer. Statistically this season to go to the worst manufacturer this season. i mean. It's definitely not something that you or. I would have ever dreamed of at the beginning of the year. So that's the deal and we'll talk about the implications for maverick and what he might do next in a moment but first let's start with yamaha's plan going forward. Which at least for this weekend in silverstone consists of cal crutch. Slow moving to the factory bike and then a second british rider. Jake dixon coming up from the petronas moto to team to take over the motor. Gp bike for probably. What's just one race. But hey it's like the biggest race of his life he gets the race a motor. Gp bike made his debut at his home. Track in silverstone. Now cal was set to participate this weekend. Anyway of course on the franco morbidelli bike. Having him on maverick fan. Y'all is bike makes so much more sense for the reasons that we've already talked about moves from franken morbedelli's two thousand nineteen chassis to occur at one where he may or may not perform that much better but he'll have a real ability to test parts and provide feedback in data. That is far more useful to yamaha the rest of this season and of course heading into twenty twenty two and then the dixon thing i mean it doesn't necessarily mean he's gonna get that ride next season but it is a fantastic opportunity for the team to see whether he's got the potential to make that move for those who aren't terribly familiar. Jake dixon's moto statistics. Not really the thing that big time careers are built off of necessarily but you never know join arco who nobody wanted to take a gamble on until he finally won a couple of championships or a guy like yoenis vulgar who nobody paid attention to it all and then in his very brief motogp career. He showed some real promise. Maybe jake dickson has that same inherent ability. Once he gets on the bike. I dunno yamaha doesn't know but they're going to try and find out this weekend so i don't think it's that big of a deal that they're giving somebody who isn't a top rider emoto to a shop you know one race weekend just to kinda give them a test and this does give patrolling the opportunity then to try out multiple riders at least until the point that franken morbidelli comes back so i would expect that. We'll probably see dixon just this weekend. And then maybe darren bender at aragon. Which i think is very likely considering. The fact that dixon is apparently doing test next week on a yamaha superbike obviously not on a motor. Gp by he's not allowed to abide he'll ride basically thousand cc either street bike or maybe a wsb k. Prepared bike or somewhere in between and then from there though determine whether he's going to get a motor gp shop for a race. And i would fully expect to see them. Give him the opportunity in aragon if it goes beyond that and morbidelli can't come back. I'm not quite sure who they go to next. But they could either alternate dixon and bender. They might get caviar. Hey into the mix or they might have somebody else to come up in kind of. Take a shot at bike. If you've got that opportunity you've got the luxury of a bike to give for a couple of rounds until your guy comes back. Might as well make the most of it and as for cal on the factory bike. No plans have been announced past silverstone now one would assume that crutch slow continue the rest of the season but there are other possibilities here a big one that we're going to talk about in a moment but a minor one could we see valentino. Rossi returned to the factory team for anywhere from the rest of the.

"All the time and of course. Let's not forget that. isn't just signing mavericks in yellows with their inheriting that entire support system to and that may dj. Ask the question. If you were in charge of apprecia-. Would you hire maverick fan less. And i already kind of give away with what i said a little bit earlier but i agree with what the vast majority of the people who responded to dj. The dj himself said that. Yeah you have to sign maverick. If you can get him you know. They're not that many writers available that one races and while andre dot. Co so isn't option. Who has he's way older. He's out of practice. And you know. Maverick is one this year so in the kind of expand what i was saying a little bit earlier you take the writer and all of his potential along with the baggage that may come along with it because turmoil or not. He's still the best rider that appropriate has ever had. And when you look at how johann zarco came through that kim debacle the bounce back do coty and do it with humility. Then there's reason to be optimistic. Even if there's arco situation by johann zone emission is way way different than what maverick is going through right now and i would actually argue. That maverick is taking as big or maybe even a bigger risk than affiliate is because think about it if it doesn't work out if maverick doesn't perform well apparently can simply go on the hunt for another rider and a much bigger twenty twenty three cities market but for venezuela's if he struggled he may not be able to find an offer that he likes for twenty twenty three. You know the same way that guys like lorenzo and dovy couldn't find offers on those top level bikes for those dedicated teams that they were looking for. So the stakes are high for maverick. But yeah if i'm in charge of a i gotta sign venezuela's the only exception being if i think that maybe dovy could some more merge and more bikes to the hometown crowd in italy which obviously a really don't feel that because they didn't sign him. They signed maverick instead. I'm so now. Changing over from maverick to the omaha side of the situation since this comment really kind of goes along with the mavericks thing Mike go and xyz they both posted a link to an article on the race that confidently says the crutch low will move over to the factory yamaha team and takeover for maverick penola. Starting next weekend at silverstone while fellow-countryman. Jake dixon will be tapped from the motoo team to make his motor. Gp debut on home soil with petronas. Now obviously there has been no announcement yet. As of the time. That i'm sitting here doing the show. At least but i would not be surprised in the least at this point. If that's the direction yamaha goes. I mean we'll talk here momentarily about what yamaha stands to gain or lose with maverick either on the grid for them or sitting on the bench and watching but in a scenario where things are done between writer manufacturer at that point it makes no sense for yamaha to have their official test rider plotting around at the back of the pack on an old bike that he can't test new parts with win. The latest stuff is sitting quietly unused in the number twelve garage so you put cow on the bike where he actually can get some tests. Mileage out of this unexpected assignment. And if i were yamaha i would think you know what maybe we start giving guys a tryout on the petronas spike almost like an audition for the motor. Gp gig starting with dixon. That plays well to the home audience. And even if he's the best prospect. I mean we've all seen his stats motive to at least you can get a feel for his aptitude and whether maybe things would be different if he made the jump and then they can do the same thing with their and bender as well if they truly are considering having him jump from moto three all the way up to the premier class and honestly both of those guys are already in house at patrol us and with both already out of their respective championship races and petronas going away. We'll talk more about that here. In a moment there at stopping any current momentum that they have emoto to motari respectively and give him a shot and then there are other. Riders could give a shot to as well. And we'll talk more about those riders coming up in a minute to so that of course would mean been y'all as is indeed sitting out if that is the case if that article from the race is spot on but is that the best idea to have maverick not come back for the rest of the year. So let's talk about that because of course it's one of the biggest unanswered questions as of right now whether yamaha is going to allow maverick fan. Y'all is to get back on the number twelve bike after he had a chance to fess up and then sit in the corner for a while and think about his actions or if that's it and they're messing about with him for the rest of the year and i don't think that's a clear cut decision really. I know based on actions based on the signing. It seems like they're probably going to have him sit out. But i don't think it's that easy of a decision for yama because on one hand he's really not acted in yamaha's best interests and even if you chuck out the engine thing is being inconsequential in personally. I wish something worth two hundred thousand. Plus euros was inconsequential in my life. He's now shown on multiple occasions in germany and styria two of the last three races that he's not opposed to simply giving up and not trying to get a result but on the other hand. If maverick is willing to ride the way he's capable of riding then he is yamaha's absolute best shot at winning the team and constructors championships now of those. The team title is the one where he can really make a difference. And that's because of the point structure. There is a chance that yamaha may be able to win the constructor title relying almost entirely or entirely on fabio charro since only the score of the top rider for that manufacture accounts. I'm especially if when franken morbidelli comes back. He can have a decent finish to the season in case there some slack to pick up on the fabio side but in the team championship no matter who yamaha replaces maverick fan. Y'all is with the potential won't be the same in that. Championship considers the points a both riders and factory to kati premed. Coty they both have to riders capable of scoring big points any weekend and ktm have now shown that ability as well although factory coty i think is really the biggest threat here and no matter. How well he may run the rest of the year. Fabio quattro can't hold off both factory. Do cody. Riders are both pray. Macrumors are both riders all by himself. Just too big of a task. So if you're yamaha what do you do it really all comes down to the team championship in nothing but that if they wanna win that team championship. They're going to need the trust. Maverick and put him on. The bike mean. They've got a little bit of a lead right now. But that's going to evaporate quickly if they don't have in yellows out there and in another way mave could help protect fabio's championship lead if he runs well by taking points away from other potential contenders although he may not be terribly enthusiastic about that. We don't get me wrong. You wouldn't be a thing he consciously did. It's just a side benefit. If he goes out there and he performs well so from the team championship perspective. Yamaha has to put maverick on the bike. But part of it boils down to twenty twenty two and their plan testing as well because if yamaha have some really juicy new stuff that they wanna start hashing out for next season. They're not gonna want to see that and then take that information off to apprecia- so we'll make much more sense to have him set. Put crutch low on the bike. Now you have your test or test even if it's at the expense of results and very likely team championship in the end. Now not what. The priority is right now for yamaha. It's hard to say what they're ultimately going to pick although conversely based on what they pick it's going to be pretty easy to know what their priority is. I'm but given the apparently announcement and the timing of it..

"He would have been fast enough to be there with petco by probably would've finished ahead of where. Hey martine but in the dry of course he was going to battle for the win in the dry he looked absolutely fantastic. And it's the best. He's looked since his return outside of germany so he may have punt it in the end. But i'm looking very forward to seeing what mark is gonna do when we get to silverstone and especially in aragon where he's been so so good in the past it's very saxon ring like track for him and i did see at least one headline that. Mark had some painkiller injections in his shoulder before he went out there. But keep in mind back to back races at the rebel ring which are very heartbreaking heart. Accelerating track that's going to be really hard on your shoulder and your arms. So i'm not that concerned about it because he's obviously going to have a week to recover before silverstone. There's another week between the british grand prix and aragon then. That's the next back to back. Aragon going into misano. So there's a little bit of time. They're not imagine that for that back to back. Probably some sort of painkilling injection there too. I'm art couple of other writers that we need to talk about starting with our championship leader. Fabio quattro pro. Who also made a mistake on wets running away wide and determined won his first time background after he switched off to his reign bike. That was the same lap in the same corner that mark wrecked in and that took fabio from possible. Podium all the way back to seventh not where he wanted to finish. Obviously and he wasn't really happy about that. But i argue. He should be happy about it because things could have been way worse. Instead of running wide he could have suffered the same fate as mark instead. Not only did he stay on the bike and make it to the end of the race but he actually increased his championship. Lead again by seven points so seventh-place result or not it was mission accomplished. He just needed to get through both rebel ring weekends without losing big chunks of his lead and not only did he not lose he actually gained from the break until now so even though he finished seventh still a good weekend for him and for show amir he didn't really get the opportunity to make his presence known in this one although he was moving up along with. Hey martine in those mixed conditions but his relatively unnoticed fourth-place resolve at the end of this one may not be memorable but it certainly helps him out in the points which will discuss here in a moment by the way how. 'bout eager like lona and luca marini staying on slicks and finishing fifth and sixth in this one their best finishes ever emoto gp even valentino. Rossi ended up eighth. And it's amazing to think that none of those guys that gambled on slicks actually wrecked out wild wild stuff all right. So you're podium and this one brad bender. He's brave. He's ballsy he's a little bit crazy and now because of that he's also a two time motor gp winner. He gambled and it paid off big. And i'm sure the. Ktm was thrilled to have their colors on the top of the box at their home track. Petco back naya was fast in the dry. He was fast in the wet and he's now taking the point into cadiz championship quest. Which will discuss here in a second and then hey. Martine rounds out the podium. He continues to impress and he now has three podiums in his first seven motor. Gp racism remember. A couple of those races were back from injury. He was definitely not at one hundred percent. Now let's talk about the championship. Because like i mentioned a moment ago. Fabio coiro actually increased his lead by decent amount over these two rebel ring races. But that doesn't tell. The entire story johann zarco wrecked in this race. One of only two riders that wrecked out of this race. Miguel oliveira was the other one and as a result. He relinquished both. Second and third place in the ryder standings to appear guys that finished higher in this race. Then fabio deb. So yes the lead increased. It's at forty seven points now just shy of a tourist margin and that's pretty big but that lead is now over petco bag in second followed by defending champs roy moore who sitting that same forty seven points out. Sarko is still hanging in there but at forty nine points out after the wreck. Then jack miller is v. he's minus seventy six but now things do look a little bit more interesting because now instead of a satellite rider being second in the queue fabulous instead looking down at a pair of factory writers and one of those has a championship to his name so yes. The contenders are further back. But i think both of those contenders have more potential to make up ground and all it would take is one slip up fabrio and we've got ourselves a pretty compelling championship battle between him. A factory do khadi rider and a factory suzuki rider. Still bobbio is in the driver's seat. Here and i think he survived the biggest challenge so far this year getting past these austrian rounds and not having things be a disaster but the championship drama is starting to build a little bit because of the writers that are immediately behind him now even if they do have a decent amount of ground that they have to make up so my take on the red bull ring for this weekend's austrian. Gp just when you thought things couldn't get any crazier.

"Are on the website at motor week dot net. All right here. We go the rundown just about everything. We're going to talk about on this episode of the program. We're going to start with something. I completely forgot about on the post ratio. Mark has an la grow the showdown on the track off. The track in front of the media will talk about. Who is at fault in. What's going to happen from here. Actually something is going to happen after that. Pair of incidents a new dash message for riders. Actually there are two of them starting this weekend. We'll talk about those and then we'll tackle the conundrum. Net is ralph fernandez. Coming the mo- gp. Does he really want to be there. At least three. We'll talk about the situation. Y fernandez is upset about it along with a whole bunch of other people and what really should have happened there. I'm is it panic. Time for yamaha when it comes to finding riders for next season. They're treading closer and closer to the panic stage so talk about who their latest options are a is getting a huge huge gift from michelin. This weekend i'll tell you what it is. Then we'll move onto the comments. You had a lot to say this week about valentino rossi's retirement announcement the steering gp. Danny padro some maverick. Ktm and a whole lot more will also go over some picks video and then we'll wrap up the show with this weekend's race. The austrian gp our preview and picks for around eleven of the world championship does get easier to pick this race because we just have one last weekend but mostly no not at all. I i'll explain later all right. So let's get going with the modo. Gp news and we're going to start actually with the comment because twisted lizard brought this up over. I'm read it. And i cannot believe that i forgot to talk about this on the post trade show but in my defense with all of the craziness and the wreck in the fire and the red flag rookie. His first motor gp race. I totally forgot to discuss. The pair run-ins between marc marquez and alex spa grow on the first lap of each of the races. You probably already know about the incident. So i won't go into too many details. There unsurprisingly ally was upset about both incidents. Mark was a little bit defensive even going as far as saying that the second fender banging session was totally gross fault. Although to elliot's credit he did kind of leave. The door open for at least a little bit of the blame. After the race in the second incident he was only really focusing on the first as his main source of frustration. But as usual the truth really lies somewhere in between each rider story. I'm on the first incident. Which by far was the biggest collision between the two. I'm a little bit torn. if i'm being perfectly honest because it depends which replay you watch. What feeling you come away with about what happened there. Other the world themed shot from down low going into term one made it look like mark was walk away too aggressive going in but i will admit that once you watch the overhead shot a couple of times. Yeah mark was definitely a little too impatient. He was dive bombing the corner. I mean darren. Bender would have been proud of him. But alex didn't really do the best job of anticipating whether somebody was going to be there. He cut the apex of that corner very late and in a crowded starting field going into the first corner. You do kind of have to expect that guys are going to be around you. And some of them may be making aggressive moves up the inside normally not that big of a deal but if your plan is to apex that turn late to begin with. There's a good chance you could cut across. Somebody's nose in that instance so i'm not holding. La's completely blameless in that first run in. Although really mark was in the more on position he could more easily understand what was developing into the corner because he was behind al h coming in it so you can make a very similar argument that it's also marks responsibility knowing. He's around a lot of other riders to not try and do too much in the first corner and as a result pinball some other guys so that was the first incident between them in the second restarted the race. That's a little bit of a different story. Because fabrio quechua rose rear tire got squarely heading term one. He was already bobbio was on a relatively wide line. To begin with mark was on the outside and then as was further outside of him. And i think that fabio harare's bike getting unsettled in front of him that caused mark the stand up just a little bit that random in la who was in a pretty precarious place on the outside making it three wide anyway and so that was much more of a racing incident. It wasn't the same type of instance where mark was just trying to make something happen. That wasn't there instead he was reacting to what was there but of course being the second incident kind of just highlighted alessi's frustrations with the first. And that's what he said. After the race in fact. He said he didn't even blame. Mark all that much. He looked to the stuarts with the insinuation there being that the stewards are giving marquez. Too much leeway now like. I said when you watch that overhead shot. It's not nearly as cut and dry as the low shots. So i don't know that they're necessarily should have been in action against mark. I think that the non call was probably the right move. They're considering the situation on the first lap of the race when there are a lot of guys going to that corner at the same time but la show overall does have a valid point. Because if the question here is does marc marquez. Get more leeway from the stewards because he is marc marquez. With the answer to that is pretty simple. Yeah totally does. I mean if you're talking about a young rider or somebody with a reputation like johann zarco. That rider may have gotten a harder. Look we might have gotten the message that the incident was at least under review with marquez. I think a lot more has to happen. And the fact that. La wasn't taken out. He didn't even go off into the gravel that combined with the stewards impression. That a guy who has so many championships probably has full control of his bike. Makes that seem like less of an incident for him then. It would be for a less experienced riders. If that's what she's saying. Yeah i agree. Marc marquez definitely gets more leeway than other riders but apparently al a sh- has a little bit of pull himself from all of his ears on the paddock. Because there is something coming out of those incidence. It probably was in the works already but what happened. Last sunday may have accelerated the process because we got an announcement just today from motogp race direction. That starting this sunday austria. They'll be two new dashboard messages available to send to mow. Gp writers and i think we can nickname these messages the.

"And how qualifying has been his arch nemesis this season. I think there's only two races all year long that he started inside the top ten and watching once again. What he did in this race is just just reinforcement that. If brad bender could just simply figure out how to qualify well he would likely be doing the same exact things. We've seen out of miguel lavera before the break and miguel by the way was injured in this one. That's why he was really not that great all weekend long and brad proved it again. Today i mean he started sixteenth and he was ninth as late as lap. Sixteen in this race. And then he just comes blazing through the field in the final third getting by bo takenaka gami and johann zarco in the final few corners of the last lap to get an incredibly impressive fourth place. Finish after starting sixteen. They just need to figure out how to get him. On the first three rows of the grid and brad bender could make some big big waves over the second. Half of the season. Never talking nakagomi. Well i don't know maybe he's feeling a little bit of that. Pressure from iowa is increasingly more impressive performances. Emoto too but one way or the other taco was motivated and he was looking a lot more like he did in twenty twenty in this race then has so far in twenty twenty one and getting roughed up a bit by bender at the end was really his low misstep and talk a finally gets back into the top five for the first time since he res- was a really good race for him on the other end of the spectrum. I wanna talk about three writers who did little to help their chances on sunday. And they all happen to be on do kadi's starting with johann zarco who actually had a decent race and he was in a really good spot when jack miller went out to at least only finish one spot behind fabio quattro in this one but then he let to riders. Get by him in those final few corners on the last lap going from fourth to sixth. And you just you can't. You can't do that if you want to be in the championship against a guy who's been as fast as fabio quarrel has been all season long. You can't make those mistakes especially when you're chasing writer in the championship if you've got the buffer. Well okay you lost a couple of points. Come back the next day. You can kind of fix it. But here's arco is a good distance behind. He needs every single point he can get in those situations. You have to find a way to stay in front of two riders who you are better than and i know that's arguable. But based on the results we've seen the season zarko should have been able to best takenaka gami and brad bender instead. He lost out the both of them. That's really really bad way for him to end the race for petco back niamh. I mean when this first started before the red flag. He looked like he was going to be a contender and then he was simply flat in the second race. He never got anything going it all and he finished eleventh doing himself no favors. And then jack miller ma'am after leading the race early and then falling out of the podium spots. Jack was in the middle of a late race. Push to get by fabio coiro. Get back on the podium. Make up some points in the championship as well which would have been huge for himself. Amber johns arco too. Because it would have taken a couple of points away from coiro. And i really don't think showing mir would minded. That's so much either. But then he lost the front end in the stadium section with ten laps to go trying desperately to match the corner speed of the aha instead of being patient and relying on the dakotas real strength which was sectors one two and four. Don't try make it all happen in three if you don't got it in three right and instead of maybe getting on the podium or at least finishing fourth he missed out on at least thirteen points. Maybe even sixteen and because of that. He's now over seventy points out in the championship. He is perilously close to having his title. Bid for twenty twenty one come to an end as well before we finish up on the qadis by the way how about the droese finishing tenth in this race he got the last spot based on a track limits and fracture but still top ten for a guy who hasn't racing a couple of years. I think that's a good day. All things considered becoming background to. It wasn't a good day for them. Obviously they didn't accomplish what they set out to and yet she still had a smile on his face at the end of the day. Why is that well. Because i'm pretty damn sure. He was looking up at martine on the top. Step of that podium and thinking there's next factory rider that's the guy i'm going to go. Try to win a championship with if these other guys aren't going to step up for me. Because if mirrored one or even if somebody like johann zarco have one he was going to be pretty darn upset that his factory guys didn't step up to the challenge. But instead i think he was seeing the future up there and thinking you know what maybe not this year but maybe next year or the year after that because i got somebody. I can really really work with here so on the podium whore. Hey martine his first victory pray mac qadis first victory in modo. Gp and a fantastic display of talent from future contender show. Amir was second the ride height device and the result that came with it. I think definitely gives mir and suzuki a ton of forward momentum them running at the podium fabio quarrel he just keeps on going and this is just like a win for him in a champion like effort as well and in that championship while fabio of course still leads the way and he actually has a bigger lead believe it or not when he showed up in austria which is huge the margin now stands at forty points after johann arcos last lap. Struggles mirror gets couple back. He's now fifty one out while disappointing efforts for both factory riders. Lee petco back. Nine of fifty eight points. Back in jack. Miller wapping seventy two behind some more and more this fabio quattro arrows championship to lose..

brad bender johann zarco miguel lavera bo takenaka gami nakagomi jack miller kadi fabio quattro fabio quarrel arco zarko takenaka gami Emoto fabio coiro Amber johns coiro miguel bender brad niamh

"See just not holding my breath for that at this point moving on mr said. Hey with the news. That coty is going to have eight bikes on the grid in two thousand twenty two. He was kind of wondering why why that situation is coming about not necessarily what is do. Kati want to have that many bikes. There are plenty of reasons for them to want to have that. Many bikes mean not only. Is it. good marketing to be able to point to so many of the top riders in the world. And say they ride into kati but it also gives them a better overall shot in the constructors standings because they have eight chances to have the highest finishing bike on the grid as opposed to to suzuki and two for provia and four for the other manufacturers it also gives them a little bit of an edge when it comes to strategy especially late season strategy in a push for the championship because with eight riders on the grid you have more opportunities to push the other competing riders down further in the points in a given race and most importantly it lets them cast a really wide net in terms of finding and keeping riders the best riders and giving them a place to develop to eventually move up to pray mac and then maybe even to the factory team so there are plenty of reasons. Why do kadi is super cool with having eight bikes on the great. But that wasn't what mr t. Was talking about what he meant is why does do coty have to have that. Many satellite bikes mean. What's up with zucchini. What's up with a brilliant. They have none. And that's why do kati finds himself in a situation where they could take on eight satellite bikes. And that's a good question. Why suzuki especially still doesn't have a satellite team. But even why doesn't have one. I'm and it's difficult question to answer as well Apparently award reportedly trying to get a deal done with rossini. And i believe that they genuinely were and i think that racing armchair mention this the uncertainty of current. Your bike availability. Made that deal very difficult. Because if you're pristinely and you're having a discussion with really over here and do khadi over there and they're both offering you a one year old bike when you have to make that decision between a twenty twenty one in twenty twenty one do cody. You're probably gonna want the better performing bike if the rest of the deal is very similar or the same so yeah i believe if apparently have been able to come up with a current year bike. A twenty twenty two bike seeing how rapidly. They've improved over. The last few seasons cruciani probably would have gone with them. But if i'm deciding between the two thousand twenty one and twenty twenty one coty as impressive as a probably has been and with the strikes. They've made their still nowhere. Near what do qadis been able to do with jack miller and petco bag johann zarco. I would much rather have those bikes. Then what allies should grow and lorenzo salvatori are riding right now on and let's also not forget here. That as part of this deal with do christine is taking on bass giannini. Who's contracted directly to do khadi so in addition to getting bikes. That are better performing out of the box. There's also a big savings in both salary and support taking on that factory backed rider which is something they would not have gotten from appropriate so it was probably a better deal and faster bikes as well. And so that's very likely why appropriate doesn't have a satellite organization because they simply couldn't offer a package deal as good as what do cardi was offering to christina me. Now when it comes. Suzuki they say and i think we talked about this on last week. Show but they say that their latest abandoned attempt at starting a satellite program is not a direct result of the departure of daviel. But i certainly think it has something to do with the situation. I mean even up to just before the time that he laughed. Brivio said that not only but this is key. Engineers felt the organization needed more data from more riders to help move the program forward competitively and that meant teams satellite riders engineers working on those bikes but then brivio left and i think that not only was the organization hesitant to move forward at that point because they knew they were up against a challenge and filling davi shoes. But i really think that brivio is departure gave the accountants and being counters. That suzuki kind of a reason to bail on the idea. Because those guys not really wanting to spend the type of money that you got to commit to two more mo- gp probably said. Hey with the pandemic situation. We're bringing less money in so why not save right. Now we can explore the slater and they may have even said why should we even think about a satellite program and after all we won a championship without spending all of that extra money and i could absolutely see some executives at suzuki saying that not really fully understanding the circumstances in how brivio enjoy amir were able to take advantage of that situation last year to bring them a championship and without brivio there to say. Hey you guys have to understand that. We were opportunistic in twenty twenty. If we want to continue what we're doing right now we have to up the game heading into twenty twenty two and beyond. He's not there the say that. So instead suzuki is i'm sure having this conversation with shinichi sahara and all of the other internal people and i don't think that the people lower down the food chain suzuki who worked for the company directly are gonna necessarily go against what the people at the top levels of suzuki are saying where brivio didn't care because brivio was brought in specifically to run motor not to be an integral part of suzuki's operation. If that makes sense and so. I'm sure that he was way more likely to step up. And say if you guys wanna win you gotta do. Abc where the committee. That's running this as a commodity program right now might not be that willing to say it and so i think that brivio leaving combined with less money coming in from the pandemic definitely created the situation where suzuki could kind of shy away from spending that extra money if some of the being counters weren't ready to do it and if that's the case and i don't know for sure i'm just guessing on all of that but if it is then that just highlights the difference between suzuki and duke. Odium race onto hit on this for do coty. Replacing is the top priority of the company for suzuki. Sales are the top priority. And there's nothing wrong with that but it drives decisions at critical points where things can go one way or the other and that's evidenced by what we're talking about right now.

brivio coty kati suzuki kadi cruciani johann zarco lorenzo salvatori Kati bass giannini rossini Brivio jack miller mr petco cardi mac christine Suzuki

"And but the moment but the problem is that there are not many places than than you can go because because of the calendar because the all the yet the days because the moves i an idea was right to do a back raising austin but the problem is the former one that these in two weeks two weeks later so it looks like formula one is going to have a double header in austin novas. Well even harder to yet yet. So yeah. it's not. It's not an station. I mean we going back to for to gallons. We mentioned before. And and i i don't i don't see maybe they can arrange something Don't know it's to be a difficult. Maybe they can. They can try to rent something today again. Or but yeah. Because i mean a debt time of the year. It's difficult to wearing temple to lamont or or place. Dot is not is not going to be easy. And and maybe i don't know double header in india at even by the time of the year. Viki and day are a lot of things going on. At the moment. I serve solution. That may be legally. You see a double header in valencia. Me you know. Possibly if austin becomes indo than maybe some doubleheader mazzano but then would create tripleheader with arrogance. So it's kind of. There's there's a lot there like you say. There aren't many venues they can go to. It's not like formula one where they can all of a sudden go to turkey or goto to to one of these places. It's tricky. I suspect we will see like you. Say more kaunda. Changes come the end of the season which is always secret. Great news rosen trying to organize a work life balance when to. Yes well to be honest early booked my to austria yesterday so it's really last call but i think it's the way to to go at the moment. I mean otherwise. You're put in risk a lot of money trying to i mean i the moment i'm doing completely the opposite thing that i would normally do because he tried to book your flight and your stop Us i mean get with with with a lot of time in advance by that. The moment is a wrong wolf because with all the changes is a ba gumbel. Yeah the only thing i would say is good luck trying to get to the uk for the british grand prix. Because i think the net the trickiest race. So far with yeah. Let's let's pick about this. We're going to spend here. Like i mean i say you might have trouble getting england. I might have trouble getting onto the amount of pfaff that goes on in this country alone just to get to travel around as as ridiculous but anyway we'll we'll see what happens very same. Let's look to towards australia. We have a double-header coming up stereo or share back toback and fabu quadra comes into this double header as i wouldn't say a runaway championship leader and he's in a very strong position. He's thirty four points clear of johann zarco. And you'd have to say he's coming. Races are very very important for a couple of couple of guys are the catchy raiders. Mainly and schwann mir because this is a good track for both to catchy and suzuki not a good track typically for the yamaha and they really need to to stop fabulous momentum because he's on a roll right. Yep yeah they they need to change something i mean..

"Gonna sit out for a year no way. I mean after watching. What happened with. Andre david also so far in watching what happened with where he lorenzo. He's not gonna sit out at least not with the serious intent to come back embrace in two thousand twenty three. He won't be relevant at that point. I mean we've already seen that happened to multiple riders now so if it probably is his only option for next season. Then it's going to be one or two choices. He the racist for them. Where he pulls a casey stoner any bills before you even turns twenty seven and obviously the odds are strongly on him wanting to continue racing. Which means a really a bud. You never know. I mean if maverick is feeling particularly moody maybe he just watched a bunch of videos of lynn jarvis or something. Then i wouldn't totally rule out the ladder of him. Saying you know what you're gonna throw my hands in the air. I'm done i don't like the media anymore. I don't like the circus anymore. I don't like you know trying to battle with my manufacturer anymore. I'm just gonna take my money and go sit on a beach somewhere and again. I'm not saying. I think that's going to happen. I think he's going to raise for appropriate but there is that one little percent of a chance. Maybe he draws a line in the sand digs its heels in and says no for better for worse. Take him balling going home or go the world superbike or something like that. I'm alright so that does it for the motor. Gpo news now. Let's move on to some of your comments and obviously a few of you wanted to talk about maverick vanilla and we'll get back around to him in a minute. I i wanna start with chris over on facebook who looking at the second half of the season in light of the first part of our midseason review kind of ask the general question of. Hey who is your favorite right now in the championship. Fabio charro or johann zarco and. He wasn't just asking me. He was asking everybody which is good. Because i really don't have a preference per se. I just wanted to be an exciting battle down to the wire. I wanna see valencia and import amount. Make 'em whatever other race is at the end of the year Make a real difference in the championship. I would love to have it come down to the final lap but that being said i absolutely think it would be a bigger surprise a much. Bigger surprise is zarko. Wanted for sure. Satellite team a writer. That was one hundred percent on the outs barely hung onto asleep moto. Gp by pretty much sucking up his pride and going to eventually it will be quite the story for sure and not just quite the story for johann zarco but for do too because they throw him a lifeline. They did him a favor by giving him that seat. And right now he's paying the back of course who knows what's going to happen when we get down to the end of the season if the factory writers are involved how that's all going to work out but if it truly does come down zarco and fabio quarrel and zarko where the win the championship. Not only would he be vindicated but do cardi would look like geniuses to now of course the flip side of that coin is fabio winning in his first. Try on the factory team. That would be huge. That would immediately peg him as a potential challenger or successor to marc marquez. Atop the sport but it would certainly be less of a surprise overall for a factory yamaha rider to win the championship especially one with wins under his belt. Already both riders. They'll do for me carry longer term questions about consistency into the second half based on their recent history. Because no matter how awesome. They've looked so far. There is a chance that either one of those riders or both really could stumble in the second half so that it also means there's an opportunity for some other writers to enter the fray potentially as well and not just including both of the factory. Do kati riders. But i would there. Miguel olivera in there. And maybe even someone like joanne mir as well and of course we'll talk about a majority of those riders coming up here when we get to the second half of the show. I'm all right so now. Let's talk about some silly season stuff. Tim over on. Facebook said that a dutch website kind of added some fuel to the fire started by kevin schwantz last week or the week before that suggesting some sort of defacto swap between yamaha and suzuki where maverick fan. Y'all as woodhead home to the star team and then alex rin's would vacate the seat for vanilla is to come in by making the move over to yamaha taking over the petronas spike. They created by franken morbidelli after he gets promoted to the factory team now. The dutch site said that they kept an eye on maverick the entire him weekend and notice that there were multiple occasions where he wandered down the paddock and was seen having serious conversations with some of the people at zucchini and they thought not a whole lot of it at the time. But then in the wake of the kevin schwantz suggestion if auto. Hey maybe there's something to this. And i will admit that. Yeah it does. Spur on some interest here in certainly some speculation but i still see that kind of scenario as one. That's very unlikely the play out mostly because there are so many moving parts. I mean you've gotta get to manufacturers into xueqian yamaha. Three modo gp teams into factory level riders to all agree to the same set of terms. And what the span of. Maybe a month or month and a half. That's hard enough to begin with. And i think the biggest roadblock here is the fact that the relationship between suzuki and rennes is in the bab one. I mean we haven't even really seen any friction. at all. between suzuki and alex rennes. let alone. The kind that we've seen not just this season but over the past couple of seasons with maverick venezuela's in yamaha. So where's the motivation on that side to break a contract early you know. And that's not a one sided thing. Either i mean in that scenario. It's not like suzuki picks up the phone and says to alex runs. Hey you've been traded the maha. I mean it's not a football team. You know both sides would have to agree that this is the best thing to do for their respective futures. Just maverick in yamaha did. And because of that. I'm not exactly sure if i'm alex. Rinse why. I would willingly agreed to leave a factory team to go to a yamaha satellite bike. That has a grand total of one podium in eighteen combined races this year. So it's good for everybody except for alex rennes. But that's not good enough. It has to be good for everybody across the board to get all of those respective parties to agree. So well that's might be the perfect one for maverick vanilla. He might be all in on that. I if i'm being perfectly honest i think rizzoli over petronas would love to have alex rings on board you know they could easily get back to that place. Patrol was at in twenty twenty. But unfortunately i think this is yuki side would be the hold up making something like that happen. Because i don't think suzuki really wants to break contract with a rider that they really have no serious problem with and more importantly. I don't think that alex rene's is going to willingly. Demoted himself. Just to make maverick. Penola is happy now at the end the next year..

"So maybe miguel is just pointing it out or maybe who knows a little stick. A little poke maverick's direction. A buddy it is good one way or the other. I think to see yama at least attempting to get a rider like miguel. Who's upside is just huge right now and it would have been the spectacular get for yamaha and in my opinion one of the few writers maybe even the only rider that will be worth risking losing franken morbidelli in the end to go out and get but even with this twenty twenty two contract. You can be absolutely certain that. Miguel olivera is going to be a hotly pursued writer in next year silly season providing that he keeps riding the way he has been the past few rounds on that new. Ktm chassis never pretty good feeling that he will now the majority of you think it is a virtual lock. The franco morbidelli is going to be the rider that gets that factory yamaha seat next season. But jamie not convinced yet. Jamie's not quite sure that franco is going to get that factory seat in the end pointing to the fact that yamaha wasn't willing to change their plan for him. Despite the fact that he won three races and finished second overall last season still insisting instead that he soldier on with an older bike while the obviously waning valentine rossi on the other side of his garage got petronas new equipment instead now. A lot of that had to do with the fact that rossi is while valentino rossi. Obviously and be. The valentino is contracting directly to yamaha. Where morbidelli isn't but yeah it still has serious shades of the johann zarco situation and they were fine. Yamaha was allowing zarko to leave. So maybe the same will be true in the end with frankie although i would think that especially with olivera off the table now that there options have kind of put them in a box where you know that familiar writer in franken morbidelli may not seem like the most mysterious most exciting choice. But certainly it's the ryder that's available. That has the most potential. And honestly i think if yamaha's thinking about it that way that we rather go outside because we want a more exciting choice for that bike they're gonna lose out because morbidelli absolutely has the potential to be as good or almost as good as fabio quarrel. But i think that. Dj has the best solution by far for yamaha in twenty twenty two two words who are hey lorenzo. That's what i'm talking about. Bring it on man. I'm one hundred percent on board with that plan for no other reason but the drum. I don't even care if lorenzo rides that well. Although i'm curious to see how he would do after sitting out for so long but i'm more one in back for what he says before during and after around rather than what he's going to do in the bike so i'm absolutely on board with that i mean they've got fabio quattro road to go after a championship. Let's have some fun. Bring her lorenzo. Back convince valentino rossi. The stick around for another year on his own. Do khadi and let those to go head to head for the old guys championship. Hell why not get lovie in there to put him on the appropriate. Let all three of them go after it and then they can play for the seniors tour. They can win a trophy of a guy in a rocking chair. I'm sure asia and can make an awesome trophy of an old dude wearing your helmet and a rocking chair that we could give to the winner of that competition. All right so there was shockingly some non yamaha stuff. Believe it or not that you guys wanted to talk about. We'll start wish. News bart who linked to an article confirming that enables dini will be getting a twenty twenty one desma ditching next year. So he'll be getting a one year old bike with christine. As opposed to his current two year old offering out of it still remains to be seen how all of the do khadi offerings are going to be handed out. Obviously the factory guys are going to get twenty twenty two bikes. And i cannot imagine that. The pre mac. Riders won't also get the same equipment since they have it this year with vr forty-six signing policy abbadi confirmed that valentino. Rossi's team will be getting one quote full factory bike with support as well as twenty twenty one bike and that would make five current year. Do qadis on the grid would assume. Then that at that point the rossini team would get to twenty twenty one bikes won for best seaney as announced and the other fabio the san antonio since at the end of the year. They're gonna have plenty of 2021 bikes to hand out. So it's hard to imagine the degen san antonio who's contracted to rossini would end up with better equipment than best ya who's contracted directly to khadi and that's good. That means that no bikes on the grid should be older than one year old next season. That means better opportunities and better competition as a result epstein didn't suicide which is a statement of a username for sure Lit up with his fantasy leagues score after ass in one thousand one hundred and sixty points top two percent of all teams not in the league but in the entire game. Now we haven't talked about fantasy leagues for a long time. So we'll do that either on next week show or the episode after that one and by the way. If you've just started listening recently and you don't know this already we've got to fantasy leagues this year One is on sports deck. The other one is on the official motor. gp website..

"But it's all relative to expectations because the empirical evidence is undisputable. The m one has put up results despite its shortcomings now. Maverick says that the two thousand nineteen bike was a bit better than these past two seasons. So let's throughout two thousand nineteen only look at two thousand twenty and two thousand twenty one when things have been as bad as they could possibly be for maverick fan. As in his own estimation there have been twenty three races run so far between twenty twenty and twenty twenty one and yamaha has won twelve of those races in scored twenty one podiums so in twenty three races. They've won twelve. That's a little over half now. Compare that to do coty in the same span of twenty three races do khadi. Four wins twenty podiums. Ktm three wins eleven. Podiums suzuki two wins and fourteen. Podiums honda one win and three podiums and up. Of course no wins and no podiums so it may not feel to the riders. At times like the yamaha is one of the best bikes in the garage. But the numbers say that it is now in the interest fairness. There are some big caveats to those numbers for sure because for a majority of those twenty three races. Honda didn't have marc and the ones they've had him in he definitely hasn't been himself and franko. Morbidelli contributed quite a bit to those yamaha numbers last year on the perceived to be better two thousand nineteen bike. But even when you take out frankie's results yomas still has nine wins in those twenty three races. that's more than double their closest competitor in do coty. So if you're maverick fiallos and you're dissatisfied but your goal is to win races to win championships and have the best career possible. And be you know a motive. Gp legend after you retire. Is it better than to continue working through the remaining issues on one of the best bikes in the garage. Knowing the performance potential is there it's been demonstrated or is it better to take a chance that he could hitch onto aprilia at exactly the right moment to take off or that he might get long far better with the do khadi johann zarco style. Because certainly it's working out for joe home right now. Obviously he feels that one of those other solutions is better but any of those solutions is a gamble for sure. A really big gamble. I mean of the other riders. Recently that have been in the same situation as maverick fan. Y'all is leaving. After one year of a two year contract johann zarco was only ktm that was producing no results for him. There were very few races where he was competitive where hey. Lorenzo may have been on a better overall bike than the him at the time in two thousand nineteen but he also didn't have any results and he was plagued by injuries and he was at the end of his career. One way or the other so they were all bailing on bad situations personally for them that also related to bad situations performance wise and results wise for them but by contrast in this situation. The yamaha's bike that vinyl is not only should be able to compete on. Buddy is i mean. He's had eight victories and twenty four podiums in his career on the one. He's one one out of every nine point eight seven races and he's landed on the podium in one out of every three point two nine rees mean is terrible in his inconsistent as he's looked we've all noticed that he's been horribly inconsistent over his career. He's still making the podium essentially one every three races now if we turn around and look at it more for mavericks perspective yeah. Those numbers aren't strong enough to win a title and those numbers haven't really improved over time. He's pretty much been in the same area since he joined in two thousand seventeen but the situation isn't destitute either. It's from it. I mean it's not like things might have seemed for zarko or lorenzo. Although peck zarqa waited it out then things would have been better most likely by now. But i think the most riders in the paddock. If you told them hey you can sign this contract and you're going to get on the podium. One every three races would say. Where's the pan you know. And this is what he's walking away from. Can he get into a better situation. Because then y'all maybe pushed along by the old cliche. Here of the grass is always greener. And that's why it's a really big risk and we can't really answer the question of will this mover will a move wherever he goes. Will it really make maverick happier than he is right now. Obviously from an emotional standpoint yes but from a career standpoint will it. i don't know i mean it. All really depends on his expectations in his patients level. Now we'll talk more about his options coming up in a moment but right now the most likely candidate is apprecia- where a deal may already be done or do khadi with forty six although that seeming less and less likely but let's consider them both just for the moment. Both of those teams are new in some respects to mow. Gp apprecia- is going to be going into their first season working in house and no longer under the guidance of cristiani and be our forty six is going to be in there i fully operational to bike motor. Jpc's and so they're both going to be working from a place of inexperience compared to yamaha. The apprecia- is way better than it used to be. But it's not there quite yet now..

"Came the omaha thinking he was going to be the number one if not right away then very quickly and that didn't happen and i'm sure he kind of felt like that promise was taken away from him. And instead he had to live in the continuing. Shadow valentino rossi. But he wasn't the only one that was kind of in a state of confusion about this whole thing. I would maintain that yamaha was just as confused as well and they were sending mixed signals at various times giving mavericks opinions more weight and at other times rossi's and at one point a few years back they said. Hey we're going to develop each bike completely separately completely independently and we soon discovered that growing frustration off the track for venezuela's was affecting mavericks performance on the track. That intern created more doubt on yamaha side. And even more frustration on maverick side which he was all too eager to vocalized by offloading. The issues onto the bike and the engineering team and yamaha messed up again there as well because they really gave legs to that they bolstered that idea that the writers should blame it on the bike with that. Incredibly awkward apology thing in two thousand eighteen. Which just encouraged that level of dissatisfaction. Even rossi started to express it more after that and that just bread more inconsistent performance. Out of maverick and it was just a vicious cycle and that kind of kept spiraling on and off all the way until the season. Now we get to this season. Maverick has signed a two year. Deal to stay on with the omaha. Because valentine rossi was moving on. He was stepping aside in on top of that. The two thousand nineteen bike wasn't as bad as seventeen eighteen remember. Maverick signed his contract for this year before the twenty twenty season even started so he wasn't quite sure what kind of bike yamaha was going to hand him so despite those concerns overpass performance. I figure he was far more focused on the idea that the two thousand nineteen bike was moving them in the right direction and more importantly he was finally going to be the clear number. One fabio quattro was still young and he struggled at the end of twenty twenty himself so it was his team. It was mavericks team. But then we get to this year and fabio happened and he didn't just happen but the situation turned out way. Worse for maverick fan jalis. Because unlike rossi who may have been getting favoritism despite the fact that he wasn't performing all that well. Fabio has flipped the script entirely. He's gone out there and not only performed far. Better than valentino. Rossi did but he's also outpaced maverick. By a mile as well and vigna is results have continued to berry just like they always have so. Fabio is quickly grabbing control of the team. A lot of people myself included would say he already has grabbed control of the team and has proven that the bike. Ken be consistently quick. And in the meantime mavericks results are as inconsistent as they ever had so realization. Set in pretty sure. That maverick not wanting to break down his own confidence. Further then down on the idea that yamaha simply didn't care to fix his bike. They didn't care about him which is admittedly a tough argument when his teammate has been fast enough the podium every single race this year he's had weird stuff happened but he's been consistently fast enough to get on the podium had he made it to the end of all the races but in mavericks mind. It has to be the team because it can't be him. I mean from mavericks perspective. Think about it look. Ktm look at look at suzuki. They've all made such great progress since two thousand seventeen. They've saw so many problems and they've had so much more success than they had in the past that when you look at yamaha and comparison it has to be that yamahas simply isn't trying hard enough right. Well yeah on the surface. It can look that way but those comparisons can be very deceptive because yes and have made huge strides but they also had a lot of ground to make up over the past few seasons. Those guys have developed their bikes enough to the point where they've gained seconds on their pace from a few years ago but they started off seconds behind. So you look at that progress and you know you look at yamaha and it looks like they really haven't done anything. I mean casey. I'm has gained seconds. They're winning races now. Apprecia- has gone from you know seconds behind to a couple of tents behind. And what is the omaha done. They've continued to have up and down performance. But you have to remember that yamaha's searching for the final few tents to get them from podium contention to championship contention. They're not looking for seconds. And that's a lot harder to make up those couple of tents just ask apprecia- how much harder it is to get those last couple of tents as it was to get those seconds that they've gained over the last two years and now i'm certainly not saying that yamaha is blameless here that they've been trying extra hard and it's just you know we don't perceive it because they're trying to gain so little. The problems have been consistent. That's for certain. The only thing i'm saying is that their issues are a bit harder to solve than you know the things that ktm and aprilia and suzuki before that we're going to especially right now not being able to revise their engine because obviously that could be a huge help for them right now but they're painted into a corner. There's nothing they can do about it. I'm also want to say that wanting to offload the blame and the frustration onto the manufacturer onto the team. That isn't just a maverick vigna thing. And those of you who've been watching for a long time or even a short time probably don't need me to tell you that all moto. Gp riders have big egos. So they're not going to be too eager to point the finger at themselves because whether it's true or not it's just not a productive thing for them mentally to emit that they're the ones that aren't quite getting it so you take all of them put it together and by the way that is unfortunately the short version and the situation is in the good one normally. Both rider and team would swallow their words at this point. Wait things out to the end of the contract but the precedent that was set by guys like cal. Crutch. low and sam lows in the past and then reinforced more recently was johann zarco and lorenzo. The prevailing opinion is now become. Hey you don't like each other tear up the contract and move on but that of course then begs the question. Is this the right. Move for maverick vandalism and the answer here is well. Yes in no it. Just kinda depends. My opinion is in the end if it really wasn't working out between the two and they both agreed upon that then there are other writers out there for yamaha. There other bikes out there for venezuela's ultimately works out best for everyone. If they're working with the people in the equipment that they feel most comfortable with rather than suffering through one another if that is indeed what things have come to. But there's more to it than that because while yes everything works out better if everyone's getting along that's not the goal of modo. Gp especially for someone like maverick than y'all and the level of talent and potential he has. The goal is to win races is to win championships and is to have a successful career and the best way to do that is to be on the best. Bikes maverick is now going to be leaving one of the best bikes in the garage. Because say what you will about yamaha struggles over the past few years. Maverick certainly has. And he's not the only one..

"What does this podium say about. Maverick's current situation at yamaha. If you remember after the german gp last weekend maverick complained. That yamaha wasn't focusing on him. He even toss out the words lack of respect in helping him figure out the issues with the bike. And remember that. We're gonna come back to that in a moment and then as either a knee jerk reaction or is kinda barb toward yamaha. He vowed coming into asan that he was only going to use fabio coiro settings he was gonna use fabulous setup all weekend. Long if bob you made a change he was gonna now whether he did that. One hundred percent or not is a little bit unclear but at the very least he did start the weekend with the same exact setup. Fabio quarrel them. What happened well. Basing his bike on fabulous bike he went out and qualified on the pole convincingly setting a track record in the process then he finished a very comfortable second despite his poor start so considering that considering that with his setup in germany he finished dead last of the bikes that were running and then either seriously tongue in cheek one way or the other adopts all of fabio settings qualified on the pole with the track record and finish his second. Maybe i'm way off base here and you can tell me if i am but is that not at least a little bit of an indictment of mavericks ability to get his own settings right. I mean it's at the very least more so than it is on yamaha's lack of respect or concern for maverick. I mean it's not really rocket science here. If the maverick maverick only bike couldn't get on the podium. Ever since the first race of the season qatar and the fabio settings get him on the podium immediately and in the meantime fabio has continuously been on or near the podium or fast enough to be on or near the podium. Even when there have been problems then maybe the issue here may not have been with the bike. Nearly as much as it's been suggested by the knowle's all along. I'm just throwing that out there and like i said if i'm off base definitely let me know on facebook or on. Read it but that's what it looks like to me. I mean if he truly was using fabio settings then his results seem to point the finger. More to maverick to being the week. Lincoln the chain here then yamaha or the bike that they're giving him and that's only the first part of this discussion. That's not even the mention. The situation that happened after the race which was even more fascinating. We're maverick looked thoroughly displeased. Despite being on the podium. I mean as soon as he got his helmet off in park for may. He shrugged his shoulders. Multiple times shook his head in some sort of discussion with massimo mira gallet. Then he really didn't interact at all with fabio coach harare either impact for may or on the podium and he hardly participated at all in the champagne celebration and listen. I get that. He's unhappy right now and because of that. This result may not have cleared anything for him. In fact it might have confused even more and let's face it. He's got one foot out the door if not literally put out the door like he's heading to aprilia which i think there's a very good chance of it then mentally. He's got one foot out the door. He's kind of decided. His time is over with yamaha no matter how long that time lasts and so even good result isn't necessarily going to do much for him however i wanna go back to that comment that he made after germany when it comes to respect and if maverick wants to sit there after a race and talk about respect that's fine. He does not need respect yamaha and he doesn't need to respect any of its competitors or is team that is not required however he does need to have respect for his team. They gave him a bike capable of sitting on the pole which he did setting a track record which he did and potentially winning the race had he gotten off to a better start one way or the other. They definitely gave him a bike that he was able to put on the podium. He owes it to them. Knocked to act like he did in park for may or on the podium. He owes it to them to show appreciation and allow them to celebrate their accomplishment. Even if he doesn't feel like celebrating his accomplishment if he doesn't care that's fine but he should pretend like he cares out of respect for his team not affords manufacturer not for massimo mira gallet not proverbial quattro or anybody else in the world but his team if he wants to sit there after germany and talk about respect he needs to show respect to that number twelve team even lorenzo celebrated with do coty when he knew that takada was looking for an excuse to boot them out the door and he probably would have done the same thing with honda. He of course not been so thoroughly terrible. If lorenzo would have gotten on the pudding with honda i firmly believe he would have celebrated wholeheartedly with the team even though he was one hundred percent certain he didn't want to get back on that pike anymore and the only reason that i'm kind of getting down on maverick and criticizing maverick is because he's the one who brought this topic up and i don't think it's fair to point the finger at yamaha and say those guys aren't respecting me if he's going to finally get back on the podium and you know. The team was super excited that he was able to get back up on the podium again in stand there looking like his dog just died or something like that and you know. I don't want to stray too far off the topic here. And we'll talk about this more on the full show later on in the week especially after i've had a chance to look at some of your comments and find out if maybe i am way off base with my interpretation but you add up everything that we saw and heard here before and after the race and i'm setting the odds at about seventy five percent. That maverick is gone from yamaha. In two thousand twenty two if he can make a deal with apprecia- happen at all. And i'll also say to really be careful what you wish for because what we saw this weekend may very well be a glimpse into your own future. If things don't get off to a fast start next season there could in the end be some dove regret in the appropriate camp. I think is what i'm trying to say. I'm even further off topic. What a difference a year makes for a provia not even a year. I mean nine months ago they literally couldn't find anybody willing to take their vacant seat. That's why lorenzo salvadore has it right now then just a few months down the road. It looks like they're gonna have their choice between maverick than y'all as and andrea also and who knows who else they might be considering so they've done a phenomenal job of turning that program around just think about the fact that they went to multiple motoo writers who all told them to go pound sand and now they get to choose between two of the most prominent riders in the paddock. Over the past. Couple of years it's crazy. I'm art so getting back on track. A beyond all of this yamaha drama. That was playing out both on and off track hiding in that massive yamaha shadow. There was sunday afternoon. Joann mir who fled outraced like his life depended on it in this one. He started tenth. He had to fight by some incredibly difficult riders to pass like johann zarco and jack miller who by the way. He apologized for racing. Jack miller kinda rough in this race but he fought his way onto the podium. In what i absolutely think was his best effort of the season and one of his best has ever even though he didn't win it if he fights like that once he managed to qualify somewhere on the front two rows. He's gonna be a really difficult writer to beat. He definitely looked like a defending champion this race and now the only thing left is to start qualifying like one but i was really really impressed with zhou. Amir's effort in this one. He really looked like he wanted it. And that's how he's going to have to raise for the rest of the season if he wants to be able to try to compete with fabio coiro as fast as fabio is right. Now i'm a couple of other writers. I want to briefly mention in this race. Johann zarco suga off his less than stellar german. Gp with another strong fourth place result. And he's the only rider showing real consistency in the fight with fabio. He just needs to go out and win a couple of races now. Miguel oliveira may not have one like. I thought he might before the weekend. But fifth-place was still an excellent result in a difficult race especially since we got a little beat up on the start of this one and drop toward the back of the top ten. A petco bagai without the track limits. Thing he very likely would have been forth in this one. I don't know that he would have been able to hold off. Show mirror although we would have done a hell of a job. But i think ultimately he would lost out and been fourth. I wasn't expecting him to lead the race and look so strong..

"I don't know if it's true or not. I can't confirm it but if it is true that is just representative of rinses luck. This season and the girl reminded all of us to make sure you're wearing proper protective gear even when you've got a non powered two wheel vehicle. I'm right onto silly season news now. A sh- news bart bart. And i hope i said your name right Posted a silly season article on speed week. Which by the way is no relation even though we have the same last name And the speed week article said that greece will not only make satellite deal with to kati which is really no big surprise but that they also have deal in the works for and they abyss dini to move over from a vinca to any where he would ride. Alongside fabio degen antonio who already confirmed is going to gra seamy next year in the premier class and that part of it best you meaning moving over is a little bit of a surprise. Not huge one. Though in i'll tell you why because the rumor of course is that. Vr are forty. Six is also going to be a do khadi team will make you think. All of cnn is already writing vinca. That bike is going to remain into coty. Just under the vr forty-six banner next year. Why on earth would he need to move from a team to do coty team. It really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Well it might because it's possible since is under cod contract. He's not riding vinci he's riding and eventually for do coty move by do coty just in case. They can't come up with a deal with vera. Forty six or that of your forty-six contract that they signed with valentino. Maybe because a lot of flexibility on the air forty-six side in terms of roger lineup bass. Steamy of course is persona non grata. Because he's a former vr forty-six academy rider. He left the academy so he may not really be that. Welcome at the forty six and so by moving him over to pristinely everything kinda slots in very nicely for dakota to accomplish all of their goals at once by moving best steamy overseen they get to keep one of their developing prospects in house one hundred percent guaranteed and then it also makes things more attractive to vr forty six because they would then have a slot open if they went with to kati to bring in their guy emarco zaki soviet forty six is happy and may seaney is happy. To cody is happy. So that's why. I say it's a bit of a surprise. If this comes for wish which i think it will but not a huge surprise to see bass steamy. Move from one to kati. Satellite team over to another in what would otherwise appear to be pretty much a lateral move on and more silly season intrigue gum writing. Posted a link to some of maverick than y'all as comments to then spagna. That were very very interesting. They were asking him about not this year silly season but next year when his contract is up with maha and he said that he's gonna take his time when it comes to figuring out his next move mo- gp because he said he doesn't want to make a mistake now. That's very fair. That's very understandable. Because that could mean one of many things seem may not want to get enticed into a honda ride after seeing what happened with or lorenzo and now potentially with spago where he may not want to take the risk on a prelude. They're going to continue to get better. But that's not what he meant because he went on to specifically say that he didn't wanna make the same mistake that he did make in twenty twenty and of course in twenty twenty he signed with the amaha and any way. You look at considering that a mistake whether he meant i made a mistake signing with amaha or maybe i made a mistake not signing with do khadi or somebody else one way or the other. The heavy insinuation here is that for whatever reason he regrets riding a yamaha right now so not only. Is that not great news for yamaha in general especially when you look at his performance compared fabio quattro knowing that each one of those riders is very similar in the sense that their state of mind really does affect how they perform track. But it also doesn't bode very well for him upping with yamaha for the twenty twenty three season now depending on who you are. That might be a good thing or a bad thing but one way or the other. There's definitely going to be some hard looking around the paddock for maverick penola. And that prompted. Peter fifty-eight kerry to ask who might be interested in maverick after next season. If he doesn't stay with yamaha and there was some interesting debate on reddit about this. Some people thought that maverick. If he doesn't resign with yamaha is going to be stuck being a test rider or go to a satellite team and not even a terribly good one. I'm kind of in the camp which average on this one. That maverick has definitely not developed into the title contender. It looked like he was going to be. But i still think there would be plenty enough interest for manufacturers and teams to keep him on the grid. He'll still only be twenty seven next year. He sitting on nine modo. Gp wins and that alone is going to generate some interest. But like a few of you said it may not be guaranteed that that opportunity would be a full on factory seed. I mean it could end up being more of a johann zarco in with the quality of developing young talent right now. And i'm not even talking about motive. Two guys i'm talking about. Rogers like franken morbidelli and martine not to mention all of the cates tim riders they're bringing up. Miguel lavar at the top of that list..

"Sharara has the championship battle. Rapidly closing up johann zarco now trails by just four team points. Jack miller is within one race distance. Now at twenty five back and petco back. He didn't have his best race but he's still twenty seven out with joanne. Mir a maverick in y'all is at thirty seven and forty points back. I think all of those riders still have a shot here especially if yamaha's rear tire issue suddenly crops back up again for me. Fabio is still the favourite here but with the number and quality riders. That are still in the mix right now. This championship could very well end up being as wide open as what we saw last year in two thousand twenty so my take on barcelona. Well i was hoping for more action. In catalonia and i think we got it mean heck moto three was one of the wildest races of the year of any class moto two featured a back and forth battle between the top riders and mo- gp had an unexpected winter multiple comebacks. N a healthy dose of the unexpected and with the roller coaster. That is saxon ring up. Next who knows which direction the motogp title races headed right now. So i think it was a step up in action across the board but one that leaves a few unanswered questions for yamaha and honda especially moving forward into the middle part of the season. So that's my take on the catalog. Gp what do you think of the race while you to leave your thoughts on barcelona on facebook. 'em read it and we'll talk about him on the full show later on in the week. Which by the way next week's show could be a little bit later than it normally is. Because i've got some training that i have to do for this new job and it's going to take me a little late on monday and tuesday. I'm going to try to have everything done by wednesday but if not it might be pushed back like a day or so so just be aware of that but there will definitely be a show. Because i want to talk about your opinions on catalonia along with info from. Monday's open moto. Gp test out the latest motor gp news and a whole lot more. So i don't want you to miss a single episode of the show. So if you haven't done i would subscribe if i were you. You can do that on apple podcasts. Google podcasts speaker. Stitcher played out.
