"Actually patient or just passive plus plus raw power was a shortstop in high school trending down the defensive spectrum throughout his pro careers, probably a right Fielder or a first baseman long term just because of his size will make for an interesting three true outcomes type guy in Colorado in that trade Cleveland picked up Juan brito and put him on their 40 man, switch hitting second baseman from the rocky system, part of that really interesting group of young hitters that the rockies had come up through the complex last year and then low a Fresno for the most part. This year, young kiel Fernández and warming burn a bell and that group of guys brito my type of dude, you know, compact short levered switching up the middle guy, good feel for contact, not a really a very good defensive player. Interesting that Cleveland targeted him. They've had a lot of players like this come through the system, including Jose fermin, who they traded to the Cardinals. That's another super low swinging strike rate versatile middle infield guy with not a lot of power. Cleveland traffics and guys like that all the time. I still think that they have the pieces to make a trade this off season with some of these guys Juan brito is a little further away from the big leagues than some of the other middle infielders on their roster guys like Brian rocio, we obviously saw some Gabriel Arias this year, but between Ahmed Rosario and Andres Jimenez, Arias, Brian rocio, angel Martinez, who they added to the 40 man yesterday and a couple others, there's just so many middle infielders in this org that I still think Cleveland is in position to do something at first base and corner outfield and DH. They need a Big Bopper. It's just about whether ownership is going to open up the wallet, which they have tended not to do in Cleveland aside from the José Ramírez extension. So that's another group. And then, yeah, let's see. I mean, it's a raise traded Xavier Edwards to the Marlins. The Marlins kind of weirdly had an overage and played out over the course of the last couple of weeks where they ended up losing a bunch of guys off of waivers in ways that make me question how they manage the margins of their roster. Like they traded multiple prospects away for coal soul S in March or April and then lost him on waivers like last week as part of them clearing spots to deal with the overage that they had on their fringe. And while ultimately, I think the Marlins had a good day yesterday, I do think Xavier Edwards has enough bat the ball skill to be a 52nd baseman and is just probably an upgrade to Joey Wendell pretty soon was certainly an upgrade to Jose Devers who had been occupying a 40 man spot for them and you know some of the pitchers that they added Eli villa lobos has a good splitter and Josh Simpson is a pretty standard mid 90s with a plus breaking ball reliever like some of the decision making processes there. Aren't helping them accumulate the sort of depth that some of these other teams have, especially on the pitching side, which is where I think you need it, especially if you're the Marlins and trying to compete in a really tough division. And then just looking at some of the other teams here, I think that's sort of it. Like the Dodgers, the Dodgers for sure have left guys off the roster who are interesting and who I think are going to easy rule 5 candidates to point to Ryan Noda. Who they traded for from, I think they traded for him. He was definitely with Toronto a couple years ago. I don't know if they if they claimed him in some way or if they ended up trading for him, but Ryan Noda, I think is good enough hitter that he's almost certainly going to be taken in the rule 5. Yeah, this was going to be our last question, by the way. Just who you think the most tempting, unprotected players will be who could be tat rule 5 candidates. Yeah, so the Dodgers for sure have a couple of guys, Noda is one of them. I think you could make a case for Jose Ramos and Ryan ward both Jose Ramos is just shy of 22. He was reckless in the fall league, just his head was flying everywhere. He just underneath so many fastballs at the top of the zone just trying to do damage with every swing. And I think that even though the Dodgers have found a way to slip guys like this onto the roster of the last couple of years, like they did with Eddie's Leonard and your beat vivas last year. With Andy paes last year that Ramos fell below their line this season. I think that they're probably deciding between him and Johnny Deluca at the end and Deluca had just performed more consistently over the last couple of years and they picked him. But Ryan ward and Jose Ramos both outfielders in the Dodgers system. Ramos is more of the sexy, huge tools. You know, if you're a team that's got a bunch of roster space, maybe you need like a glorified fourth or 5th outfielder this year, maybe someone will pop Jose Ramos based on upside, whereas Ryan ward is more like the steady performer type of guy in the Dodger system and then, you know, all the teams like the Yankees and the Dodgers that tend to have a lot of pitching, so like, you know, again, I'm just looking at the Dodgers roster resource page here and Nick Robertson,

"Miami comes in four zero with a 2.17 ERA. John Bernie files went off at the plate, headed to win number 5 and that ERA at the moment is coming down for 2.17. By the way, glad I was going to ask you this today because I've been seeing a lot of responses from players. Have you seen the responses from players about the pitch clock? Well, I know that the players on the competition committee voted against it. O one to birdie is hit down the right field line that slicing away from naquin and it's going to bounce up against the wall. John birdies in its second base with a one out double. The birdies first into the night is first hit in the series. That ends with one of 11 straight set down by Carrasco. Well that was a great swing, by the way. That was a fastball on the outside part of the plate and birdie just hit it off the bottom of the wall right there. So nice to see birdie drive a baseball, but players aren't thrilled with it. No, they're not happening. Pitchers are riding stuff on Twitter on Instagram. They're saying that it's going to be and they put a poop emoji show next year with what they're doing and that there's a process and guys have a process and they are not happy about it. Well, I understand as Brian Anderson stands in and takes a ball outside. There are a lot of pictures in the big leagues have been around a long time. And so it would be easy to say, well, they instituted the minor leagues. It hasn't been a problem. You say, well, Justin Verlander's been in the big leagues for 15 years. It's different for him than it is for some guy just out of college or just out of high school. One O to Anderson is in on the hands rolled slowly toward the second base of McNeal. He sidearms the first and he is out birdie goes to third two down. But in talking to people in the minor leagues in the last few years, they've said it really hasn't been an issue and everybody's adapted pretty easily and they really prefer the game. I honestly would not have expected the lash out that I've seen from players on that rule. They are not happy and a lot of guys are saying that watch at the beginning of the year it's going to be not good. There's going to be a lot of issues. So we'll see all I can see is Max Scherzer, you know, how remember how he reacted when they were checking. He was pleased. Here's Joey Wendell man in third two down first ball hitting lazy pop up shallow left out goes Lindor and he makes the catch to end the inning. Marlins get a hit, but they leave birdie at third base. We will head to the 7th pace of play picking up a little bit in this ball game since that big 8 run inning. It's ten

"I don't know that it's going to be a good lineup, but it shouldn't be as bad a lineup as the ones that the Marlins have run out there lately. And of course, there's always Williams as the deal, right? So of course, I guess, I don't know exactly how he fits on this raster. He didn't fit that well on the twins roster and I don't know that he fits that well on this roster either because he's not really the primary backup catcher and they did go out and get Joey Wendell and there's more depth there in the lineup, but hopefully they keep him around for my entertainment just as a mascot at minimum. Yeah, it's interesting to think of as you were saying, I'm not sure what it would mean to think of a roster he truly fits on because I think it's more than just like someone who needs a backup catcher. It's I don't know what it would mean to think of a roster that fits him. But I am happy he's here that he's somewhere that perhaps we'll get to actually see him. And they still have, let's see. One, two, three, four, 5, 6th lowest projected payroll as of now. So even though they have spent a bit, if that was really why Derek Jeter walked away that he was frustrated about a lack of investment in the major league roster. That's still a complaint you can make about tomorrow and they've been stingier some seasons, but this is all relative. We're talking about a team that has been the subject of grievances about not spending. So maybe they've faulted themselves out of that territory, perhaps, but that's a pretty low bar. So any other interesting storylines or rookies or anything that either of you were looking forward to with Miami? This is not directly related to the actual roster, but I am hoping that in like July we'll get the definitive story on cheaters decision and the timing of it all. It was really kind of like because of it when it came down in the lockout that I felt like we didn't get a big, deep dive into it. And I'm hoping it's coming because I'm curious, yeah. "Right now slated to make more in 2022 than the Orioles, the pirates or the guardians, entire roster. How much money Max Scherzer is making? Okay, let's talk about the Texas Rangers in two days they committed more money and salary than they had the previous four seasons combined. What about the rangers adding Marcus Simeon and Corey Seager? Well, they might now have the best middle infield in baseball. Marcus Simeon had a tremendous year and that's two out of the last three. He's been a great player a tremendous Clubhouse guy and remarkable that how well he moved to second base last year when that is not an easy transition. Corey Seeger is still a terrific player. But let's keep in mind the rangers won 60 games last year. They got outscored by a 190 runs and I had a talent of evaluator tell me that other than a Dolly Garcia, they really don't have an everyday player on their team that can play on a maybe even an above 500 team. That's how he described the rangers offense, how short they were on position players. Well, they added two really good ones. Guys who are going to be there for a long time, they're going to stabilize and defensively and offensively and adding John grey to that rotation. Now they have to address their pitching, but for the rangers a tremendous first move. And if they can go from 60 wins to 75 with those three editions and others, that's a pretty big jump. In my like what the angels are trying to do this winter and that is the threat and needle on one hand up grade the pitching staff. You know, that's entirely their focus. And at the same time, not necessarily get locked into huge long-term contracts because at some point they're going to have to pay shohei Otani. What do you think of the angels? Well, I like what they've tried to do here. They got their clothes, raised yellow glaciers, which I think they had to do. They added Noah synagogue. We don't know what he's going to be like, given his health, but he's certainly worth a try at 21 million for one year. I think they have a chance to get better. I still don't think they're that far away if Otani has that year trout comes back and is the best player in baseball. Rendon comes back and is a 100% healthy. I think this team has a chance to be much better than last year, but they have to add another starting pitcher and maybe two, because what they've added so far just isn't enough. The Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays to me very interesting off seasons. The Mariners signed Robbie ray. American League sayong award winner, the Blue Jays signed Kevin gossman away from the San Francisco Giants, gossman had a big step forward last year. I know the Giants didn't make a strong attempt to keep him in part because they were concerned about his second half. Give me some thoughts and Mariners and Blue Jays. Well, I like where the Mariners finished last year as we know. They almost made the playoffs. They've done some interesting things and starting with Robbie ray. I mean, he has to be, if they're gonna make the playoffs, Robbie ray has to be something close to the say young winner that he was in 2021. So just that move alone, I think gives them some real versatility in that rotation and Adam Frazier gives him another offensive player at second base, which they needed also. I could see them making the next step next year and making the playoffs with the moves that they made. As for the Blue Jays, I mean, those are those for big losses. You lose the Cy Young winner like that. You lose Marcus Simeon. Those are big losses. But they filled in with some interesting people. They have that great young base coming back, and I still like with a Blue Jays are, I could see them be at a playoff team next year also, if, of course, there are 7 playoff teams instead of 5. I had a conversation with a baseball executive yesterday in which I said, you know, a team that I kind of like what they're doing, the Marlins, they go out and trade for Joey Wendell. They trade for Jacob stallings to be their catcher. You know, to help that young pitching staff, they sign Abby sailed Garcia. You can make an argument that maybe they paid above market for him. But you know what, Tim, they have potentially a great rotation. They got a little bit better on defense and they got a little bit better on offense. What do you think? Yeah, I think they got more than a little better on defense. Joey Wendell is a well above average defensive third baseman or wherever you put him. Jacob stallings want a gold glove. And obviously Darcy is a pretty darn good right Fielder and he was arguably the best offensive player on the brewers last year, even though the brewers didn't hit much in the postseason. Plus, with that young rotation, they signed sandy Alcantara long-term. I really liked what the Marlins did also. I'm not suggesting their better than the mets or the braves or maybe even the Phillies, but they needed some significant work done with that team after last year, and they got it done. All right. Some teams that are relatively inactive, when you compare it to market size, the Yankees, the Red Sox, the Dodgers, the Phillies, the Giants, and I'm not saying, these are the reasons that this is justified, but I do think that and I know this from conversations with executives. But part of the thinking of those teams who have all flirted with the competitive balance tax threshold in recent years and sometimes moved up on over it and sometimes gone below it is that they want to know what the rules of the next CBA are actually going to be. It's pretty clear Steve Cohen just plowed through and he's like, you know what? I'm going to spend this money. I'm going to have a huge payroll and if they're taxes, that's fine, I'll deal with that. Whereas I think from what I understand, some of the other teams are like, you know what? We want to know what the rules are and Tim, as I talked about with Paul and bikinis, if you're a team that has some financial flexibility after this labor stoppage is over, you could potentially do some damage because it's going to be a scramble with a lot of the middle class players taking big hits and salaries. So I don't know if it was the right thing for the Yankees to do. They need a shortstop, but that's I think the justification in part for what they're thinking. Yeah, and I certainly understand that. Now, I think if you're a Yankee fan, you want your shortstop wrapped up before you get to December the first and that did not happen, but I'm with you on this buster. Those are payroll, flexibility teams, those big market clubs that can do pretty much whatever they want when this market open opens back up again, which again, we're not sure when that's going to be. Dodgers can pretty much do whatever they want because of their money, but they still have a very good team. The Yankees have some work to do. I fully expect them to do it once they understand what the rules are, and they can not get out of this off season without getting a premiere shortstop one way or another. And the Red Sox didn't do much. I'm still not sure I understand the hunter Renfro move. He was an excellent defensive player last year and had a pretty darn good offensive season also. But again, they have the flexibility to say we can wait where others couldn't. So I'm not going to let you get completely unscathed from the labor situation. I got one question for you. Could you have like I have the perspective of time having covered multiple labor situations and leadership groups on both sides, my belief is is that the working relationship between the two sides is the worst that I've ever seen. The lack of collaboration, the lack of the dialog. That's my perception. What about you? Well, I covered the 81 strike buster. And again, I was like 12 years old..

"And it's great for right now, but there will be a price to pay like the monkey's paw will curl like that. There's a finite number of moves and the off season is the same length regardless. So either you spread them out or you get them done all at once and then you have little left to talk about. All else being equal, better to front load the off season than backload it. I think I would rather have this wondering like where sprays heartbreak are gonna sign in February or whatever. Teams are in spring training and some of the best free agents are available. Only like, hey, if you're a fan, you get to daydream about what your roster will look like over these long cold months. So that's good. But would you rather have like if we could just parcel it out so that you have a steady stream of moves rather than just ultra compressed frenetic activity? I am the worst person to ask this question of because my perspective on it is shaped by a very particular position. I occupied with this ecosystem. But I think that having stuff come out of at a regular pace over the course of the winter months is a nice way to do things like it gives people little jolts that remind them like spring is coming and baseball is coming and now you have two months to remember that that guy is going to be on that team. So I tend to like the steady drip and not just because it allows for sort of a more manageable balance of work to life in these months when we are meant to perhaps rest rest ever so slightly just rest, but absent that I think that if you're going to have a frenzied pace having it at the beginning of the off season rather than the end, is meaningfully better for all of the reasons that you highlighted. I think that it sort of creates an excitement that can sustain itself over the winter months and it gives people time to adjust to the new reality of their roster and we don't have any of that sort of prickly contentious were a week away from spring training in the best free agents or unsigned sort of thing. So if we must clump them together, this is the preferable clump. But I think that an advent calendar opened by a non toddler is really the model that we ought to strive for. We have bits and pieces that unfurl themselves and we get to write our stories and feel excitement and sleep. Yeah, we never really rest here unaffectedly well. So we will podcast regardless of whether there is actually anything to talk about. We promise to talk at you later what? We'll just have to get creative. All right. So we will end there and attempt to post this podcast before every other free agent site. All right, that will do it for today. Thanks as always for listening. I was hoping we could post this podcast before there were more moves, didn't quite make it. It's the Marlins, making more moves. We had an intra Florida trade, the rays bolstered by Corey Kluber and bursting at the seams on the 40 man, have traded Joey Wendell to the Marlins, not for a pitching prospect, but for an outfield prospect, so the Marlins are now one step closer to a credible lineup and also a pretty good player pretty versatile player, sort of squeezed out by the raised excess of infield talent, but should be a good fit for the Marlins, possibly spelling the end of the Lewis Brinson era, not a distinguished tenure in Miami for mister Brinson, but the Marlins are officially an interesting team who may have more moves ahead of them, while we wait to see what other activity comes to pass before the expiration of the CBA on Wednesday night, you can support the podcast on Patreon by going to Patreon dot com slash effectively wild. "In the bullpen. It seems like an instant weapon fruit for a weakness of the club if they can get through a thing like that. I don't know if there's anything mechanically that's change. I just think it's is was a fastball. Curveball guy as a prospect when you look at like even some of the release point data like this guy's release point is all over the place his release point depending on the pitch type he's throwing is also variable and yet we're still talking about someone who's had a pretty successful run here has a starter for two years with with boston. But yeah it's It's one of those things that you'd want to dig in on and see the his release point i think since philly has has changed generally peaking at the graphs on the site right now fan graphs If you look at like the twenty nineteen release point and and pitch mix not piss mix. I can't speak to his release point. His released points higher generally now than it was why he was with philly. Which you know if you're just sort of making some inferences as to what that means it's he's imparting more vertical shape on his stuff like it's going to be mean that his kerr baltimore north and south His fastball fastballs. Playing more south-north There's also a better demarcation between his changeup and his fastball in terms of like the action on it there's not just velocity differences. there's also vertical and horizontal movement gap between the two of them. Now i think it's pretty meaningful so like you just look at someone like this on paper and say This is what. Boston is tweet. Since they've acquired him. And maybe you can understand why philly has decided to move on from some of their player. Death folks yeah. Well i think that if we want to assume the same structure of things that craig guided we have covered y y you might be nervous if you're the red sox going into this series. Why if you are boston. Are you feeling confident. As you prepare to square up against tampa. Because i've got arguably the best starting pitcher in the american league nathan of all the and my coffer of starting pitchers has much more postseason experience than the raise. Group of rookies does I don't think that experience is valuable period. But i think it can be. I think that. Like if i asked you to go to the instructs game that i'm going to when we're done with this podcast that like learning where to park and like how to access the field and like getting the geico today the but like all that stuff you have zero experience doing you might want to bake in an extra half hour into your trip so that you can get to the field and time whereas like i know how to do all that stuff from experience. I don't have to worry about like buying tickets for my family or anything like that. Like i know how to handle all that stuff. So i do think that experience can be valuable and it's going to depend on the person. We don't know anything about how shane. Mcclanahan shane baas andrew rasmusen. We're going to like handle any of this stuff right. I do think you can just jittery like if you perceive the playoffs. To be of more importance and like it it can get to you mentally. Of course it can. We don't know if it's going through or not for any of these specific young individuals who are going to throw out there. But if i'm boston. I'm stoked that it's three kids with like next. To no high-level experience shimbashi came out. You know sort of the year. Aa the most pressure. That's been on him as an individual. Since he's been playing baseball at a high level is probably when he was being watched by scouts before the draft. And you're like all right here yo. It's area code games. Hundred green. is the opposing pitcher. Go shove a lot of pressure on seventeen year old kid and then since then. He's just been in the minors you know so i would think that that's going to make things a to a different level and then like having couch warburg. Maybe on the precipice of another epic heater when he was on a couple of months ago is probably good for boston and raphael divers. Being you know maybe not tier one terms of like big hitters but tier two now like if we're putting healthy trout up there and like vlad up there and that's it then robbie whatever's in the next year like he's incredible and alex rodrigo can just hit anything like he's not the he's not fully actualized as a hitter yet because of all the ground balls like the game power that you think might be there is is really not there but like no matter who the rays are are pitching. Alex redo can get the bat head there and that's not true of everyone top to bottom in their lineup for anyone's lineup. But i but. I think there's a certain level of skill in the playoffs that like basketball guys kind of separate themselves from other people in terms of like. Look i can put this michael kopech. I can put them in play and one hundred renfro. Maybe you don't have a chance to do that. Like as overdue goes in that group where it doesn't matter who's on the mound this guy's got a chance to put the ball in play heart somewhere and reach base. And so those those though. That's why i'm into it. If boston i feel like i've got a shop slug my way there and we're starting rotation gives me chance against anybody else in my league. Well maybe now we can talk about the raise. I'm gonna perhaps take the the flip side of the experience question. 'cause i found i don't disagree that like the jitter thing matters. I do suspect that you get over. That lake reasonably quickly. Dan wrote our preview for that series. Had done some work on sort of how much from his perspective. The stuff is historically mattered. And he didn't find a tremendous amount of difference in players with limited prior experience particularly postseason experience in terms of how well they performed relative to sort of what their baseline expectation would be just based on regular season record and home field advantage in that sort of thing from a from a team level perspective and part of that argument that i found compelling like these guys are less well known as entities and that can put downside risk on them but also gives you the potential for like unrealized upside. That you don't necessarily have in someone like of all these spin majors were decade but setting that aside like let's talk about tampa for a moment. What about tampa if your tampa makes you feel like we got this. We're on our way to another championship series. Probably that like top to bottom there or prioritizes guys like alex radu where right joey. Wendell doesn't have no-one air nado upside right like but he put the bat on the ball. That just top to bottom wander franco on.

"Two thirty three home runs. I would say next season though. Don't you have to take india over hayes. India's clearly cincinnati's leadoff hitter. He has more power. Yeah i mean in other lineup. We bought with thirty five home runs batting right behind him. In the honest india's got that professional history of three seventy five or better on base percentage. So i really locks into that number. One spot i so i have a lot of shares of him and i remember what i said the show that i didn't think he'd be that star player. I look at this line. And i don't say that that does look like a massive star but it amounted to a very good fantasy season does the exceed that probably not. But he's probably within range of it i. He's he's the no what you get kinda guy. Yeah this might be the best. He's the number eleven second baseman on the full season player. Reiter still behind buyers and brandon lau but man great season rookie. Great season there. We'll circle back to trivia here. Top three infielders in slugging percentage since the all-star break who you got certainly rhonda's number one easy thank you didn't diminish my achievement. Get them off. And i'm gonna demand issue until you get all three three three so you only get three glasses tristan however you need. Gosh i mean. Can i keep guessing until you kicking out i had. I had a whole bunch of outfielders. For the certainly. Cj crohn's obvious. You did coronas number three. Who's number two dressing. You're gonna guess gets all three eric. You're banned from guessing right now. Boy boy the first guy was thinking of was harder. Renfro as an adult ready galvez. No probably not really galveston sure. He's qualified to yeses here but patricia. Give at least one for i mean. Slugging percentage wouldn't be up there. But ozzy albie is at a pretty decent second-half has he's been so But now he's probably teammate. Is team austin. Riley's more i guess. He ranks for seven points behind the guy. You're trying to catch not freeman freeman. It's been great to. Hasn't he not freeman. Think so infielders is what's throwing me here. I've given tristan aclu eric. You can't listen. This guy's team is currently tied for last place in his. What is i already know who it is. That's why you can listen. Well i heard it gets fifteen seconds. It's going to lose recorded podcasts. Now peres so you three. He gives it away. I mean it's you know whatever tristan's unhappy right if you're unhappy you. You can have a minute child. Football sarah artists today by the way people listen to fantasy. Focus football podcast. It's a great fun. Got kyle's there live every day and he actually is life that one actually islam. they don't let us be live because we may curse or something i mean. We're definitely the one they worry about anything. If we're going to eric for his he sees the master these smart answer. Here what are you. it's definitely hurry plocka. it's definitely a flock or good work. Mr care how you doing. We're swindle less seriously. It's six forty seven the overall list your rights to yeah up here in that struck me. Satellites were renfro and the fact that their batting him second off against right handed pitchers the other was. Who's the dude is mike. Xenos one homer behind nelson curriculums and eric. You mentioned any. No it's i. He's one over diagnosing crews great for renfro eleventh among all players. okay. I that's a guy who did not hit ryan pitching in san diego. And he's made adjustments now. He's and he's obviously a great arm ended. That game gets joey wendell the other day but all right. We're running out of weekends tristen. So any advice you can give fantasy baseball managers. Obviously you're either in your fantasy play head to head or you're starting at next week and you know it's pretty interesting stuff and then on a rodeo. I wrote a league. Top of the standings man like the three teams. Just keep keep changing hands like the lead. It's just it's so exciting. What's happening leading. Everytime that wainwright pitches i move up. Gather my ale. Only five teams are within roughly five points for first place..

"And then you have guys like boston meadows in joey wendell on this on this roster so i think that you hit the nail on the head. Malcolm is ad because boston and new york are probably always talk baseball regardless of where fans are not. They're always going to be in that conversation. Because the market is so big for the yankees and the red sox. And there's there's there's fans all over the country for them. Temporary rays are are having an issue number one. They're a great team but they're having an issue filling up the stadium and there's always talks about relocating the tampa bay rays so and they have professionals on this team that are going out and winning games every single night and now their division lead all the way up to seven games above the yankees. They're nine games above the boston. Red sox i think they're the only team in the entire. Mlb that has at least forty wins both at home and on the road so tipper had to the To the temporary. Sorry the other team that does have forty. Plus wins on the home in a on at home and on. The road is the san francisco giants. Yes that's right. Yeah wonderful you just mentioned as well again another one. We didn't fight. We did a little bit about when he came up he was he got maritime when he came up made even the season. He's on a cat game on base streak or something. He's in really rare company. This five players that he's in company with i'm talking hall of fame as to of this streak on the number six hidden his own power. Not is there as well. So that's the scary thing is that you possess that. Yeah this this. Obi strictly eastern he's going to have had a stellar season next year. He's going to be for naught when we get to the playoff. Yeah playoff preview that we put together. I'm sure that some areas. I'll take our predictions there. The next thing moon is you. I haven't seen this even a little bit. So you can talk with this The cardinals nicasio knows but believed. This was yesterday during the day game. I think the reds had gotten out to a i think eight to one leader is a monument to lead over heels double header between them in the cardinals and yeah here it is pulled up the box grab member..

"He'll probably need one or two more outings in the minor leagues before we see him again. At the big league level but offensively tampa bay. They got a lot better with the addition of nelson grew so high in bloom. The new general manager for boston after his time down there in tampa bay certainly again puts a little bit of pressure on high in bloom. He said we were expecting that. Teams are going to try to get better. Nelson cruz is one of the best hitters in the big leagues so they obviously improved. So the question is designed bloom respond. He remains in the market for a left handed hitter of their own. Who could play first base. I'd probably be wise to target some relievers there in boston as well. That match up with teams like houston chicago tampa because those are the teams. You're gonna be seen in the playoffs. So you gotta be able to match up with some of those lineups down the stretch right. I mean you're looking for a lefty to neutralize brandon. Low austin medals. Joey wendell even nelson cruz with tampa bay down the stretch. So look for a left handed armed a potentially end up in boston. As the pressure is now turned to higham bloom to respond to this edition by the race. And then you've got the white sox. Right i mean you would think oh. He's out of the division. This is probably a good thing for the white sox. Well not so much because they got that division wrapped up when it comes to ultimately winning it in advancing to the post season. And now they're going to have to deal with crews in the playoffs when it comes to a potential matchup with tampa bay so the white sox. They're certainly looking at somebody now. Who could match up with nelson cruz as that was the big edition so far and then sunday night. We got ourselves the second trait before the deadline. Here let's see. The san diego padres making a move. The padres acquired one of the most sought after players on the market. Picking up second baseman. Adam frazier and another four player trade with the pittsburgh pirates. Pirates continue to sell the farm. They send all-star starter the hits leader and major league baseball out to san diego they do get fifty return coming back on their own rights. They got infielder. Outfielder topeka marcano. Outfielder jackson linski. And right hander. Mitchell me milliano head back their way. So mark marcano i believe is how you pronounce it. He looks to be one of the centerpieces coming back to pittsburgh although he struggled so far in the big leagues this year. He's got fifty plate appearances in the majors. This season during his time with san diego and he's sitting only a buck eighty two now again he did hit two seventy three as a twenty one year old at aaa which is young for that level of baseball so certainly an impressive feat for him hit into seventy-three there at that level but now that he's in the majors. Welcome to the bigwigs. He certainly seems to be struggling here. He struck out just one hundred one times one zero one in two hundred and fifty six games during the minor leagues while hitting two seventy eight firs career. He played three different spots along the infield. So it's a versatile player going back to pittsburgh similarly of what they're losing in frazier is contact skill. Certainly stand out. It's just a question of whether or not he'll be able to hit for power or steel enough basis to be an overall contributor when it comes to the pirates organization. He's got just six homers and four steals during his time in the minor leagues. This year again kind of been up and down aaa the big leagues six homers four steals in forty four minor league games. So again i mean marcano. He's a nice prospect. he's i tally can play all over. So it'll be kind of interesting to see ultimately which direction they go but Bigly experience head back to pittsburgh. They got themselves a high level kid who could be ready to play every day. He'll probably just pencil into frazier where he was right there. At the second base position next. W got jackson linski. So wenski is already hit a career..

"Right here is dj. Lemay you just because. I think that there are other players that have been contributing similarly defensively and then are a little bit better offense wli guys like nick madrigal for example So and i think market simeon. And they're going to be good. Which is why. I think you know going in voting for a nick. Madrigal of the white sox is is a better vote but going to third base. We'll go back to the american league for i. Rafael devers leading voting. Right now to seventy six average fifteen home runs. Fifty rb is eight ninety two. Opiates second-place johan moncada average. Five home runs thirty. Two rb is and then in third place is alex bregman to eighty one average. Seven home runs thirty four. Rbi's in an eight. Oh three opie s this year and there are some other guys. But i already know which gye on voting for. And that's that's jose ramirez the fact now now i don't understand i don't necessarily hate johan moncada getting votes there. I don't love that. Bregman is getting more votes there than jose ramirez like i understand having moncada. Who's he's hitting it. He's hitting over over two eighty right now. He has a good amount. Rbi's on the year and his opie isn't terrible but ramirez is hitting just like point. Oh four points underneath johan moncada as nine more home runs and six more. Rbi's than him is is almost one hundred points higher. Like the fact that the fact that jose ramirez isn't getting any love right now and then Or even somebody like anthony ran. Don't gio or shelhah. All of those guys are very good guys. I think just aren't getting your candidate and slept on a little bit this year. Ba going over to third base right now in first place kris bryant is leading all nationally third baseman in voting. He has a to ninety two average. Thirteen bob's thirty nine. Rbi's nine fifteen opie s and it's going to be hard to vote for anybody else right now honestly like owner nado. He's having a good year but he's only hitting two seventy seven. He has twelve home. Runs and forty four. B. is and is eight thirty one which is respectable. But it's not nine fifteen and it's not an to ninety two average right now and in third place right now for the national league. Third baseman is justin turner. Now turner is hitting two seventy eight twelve home runs thirty four a. B. is an eight fifty three s. But he is a you also have austin riley of the Lake of the braves hitting two ninety nine right now with twelve home runs thirty. Rbi's nine hundred. Yes like how does he get more votes based on those stats. Then justin turner. I i feel like it's just the name that a lot of people are voting for eight year which which happens and it really does happen. But like and brian anderson of of the miami. He sitting fifty right now with a decent amount. Rbi forum like there is An-and gory is having a heck of a year as well. But i think right. Now this is probably how it's gonna finish is Is in kris. Bryant air nado and then justin turner probably in that order. But i think with guys like austin riley. And and and. I mean evan longoria. I think evan longoria deserves a vote with a year that he's having zo. I'm gonna throw him a little bit of a vote right here and then go back to the national league. Where we're gonna be talking about. Shortstops still gotta felt. The shortstops are outfield captured and e h but our shortstop so far in first place for nando tides. He's junior and in second place happier by his third place. Cory seager tease junior top. Vote getter of everybody in baseball this year. He's the best superstar in baseball right. Now you'll have guys like a he'll suarez who We talked about a lot with heavier bias. Where we've gone over status updates He's a close to leading the league. Azziz heavier by if he still is not but leading the league in In in strikeouts. At i don't know how he can be leading the league in strikeouts when he is and be hitting two thirty five on the year. When you're when you're when you're second all star voting and i'm sorry sitting you all to say that but it was just kind of a crazy thing to me. I think there's a lot more deserving. The heavier baya's even though bias has a lot more home runs than cory seager. Before seger is hitting thirty five points better there are other. There are other shortstops trai turner who were hitting a lot better. I think trae turn. It deserves a vote. Right here Mostly because i think that tot sees and seager deserve it. I don't think that guys like Like francisco door or paul dejong or nickhamed. I don't think those guys deserve it. You could say like you could make a case for dan's be swanson. He is twenty seven. Rbi's on the year. But a again. I i mean i will say though. The baya's does have a lot. Rbi's year is forty rbi's which is a lot. But i would rather have. Turner voted for and make sure that turner gets a vote. Right here then were then. I were if Lake than our if tattoos were one. Vote away from having the most votes ever and like this was like the vote. They got him over the top or something but going out for two american league shortstops. You have first place zander. Bogart's three twenty average twelve home runs three ninety thirty nine excuse me. Rbi's nine thirty two on the year in second place. Bogus shet a two eighty average. Thirteen home runs thirty nine. Rbi's and then you have tim anderson. Who's hitting three otsu. Six home runs twenty five. Rb is a seven eighty-one opie s. The other guys have s.'s. Shots eight stakes teen and then a nine thirty two. And i think that those are the correct choices i mean you have joey wendell who is hitting two ninety one Seven home runs thirty. Rb is an eight forty four opie s for the For the raising. You also have Alberto for kansas city. He sitting three sixty with two home runs and five. Rv is but right. Now i think his stat line is a little bit too young to be. I think it's just too young for anybody else to really be able to like for it to be accurate if you you..

jose ramirez evan longoria paul dejong brian anderson joey wendell johan moncada five kris bryant nick madrigal eight tim anderson second-place nine ramirez shelhah third place justin turner alex bregman thirty Turner

"Last night than francis. Doors had a season. Two and one swing. They drive grand slam vladi girl june. Yeah was one of three home runs. That he hit. He drove in seven in the blue jays. Beat the nationals. Nine to five This will what's the phrase warming. The cockles of your heart is that right or i. Vote of the cockles of your heart. Doesn't your a is also have cockles. So this will warm the cockles of long. Thin esophagus max. Sherzer joined yvonne nova. They are the only two pitchers to allow a home. Run to both vlad. Junior and vlad senior. Oh wow that is great. So that's right up your cockle sophists there right now. I figure anytime we can bring up father and son pretty good. I love anything from the eighties or nineties. Right and there you have it. So yeah the blue jays. Run up winning that game nine five nationals. Not to a very good start. They're eight and twelve now on the season but a big night for vlad guerrero junior also from baseball dodgers lost into the reds six. Two five diamondbacks beat the padres. Five one the immortal. Nick sollac anybody know who he is. No he's tied for the american league. Lead home runs. He's got seven as he hit two more last night. Rangers beat the angels six to one. I did not know who he was either until this morning. Cardinals beat the phillies. Five to paul goldschmidt. A two run double braves over the cubs five to nothing. So that burning. Sage around the stadium really starting to work for atlanta. They've won a couple of games in a row and the immortal joey wendell with deciding. Rbi single they sung about him arrest in that yes while he had the deciding hit as the raise. Beat the as four. Three nut sherwood. Jed lowrie did but obituary accounted for all three. Oakland runs format jerry blevins announcing his retirement. All right to the nba. Knicks were off nik. Stay on the bulls tonight last night. Then it's went to tampa and they wind up clinching. A playoff spot with a win over the it change out of the right wing drive it left lane. Kick it up top harris three. That's good off the penetration from mike james and the nets with the ninety three ninety two league with eight. Oh nine to go the full roundabout scoring toronto in the third quarter by a lot. And they wound up beating the raptors one. Sixteen one zero three seven players in double figures. Jeff green eight for sixteen. He had twenty two. Kevin durant durant just five of seven shooting. He had seventeen points ten rebounds and just seven shot attempts. That's fine by thirty three minutes. You know the interesting thing is i. Don't think he broke a sweat last night and probably not i. I turn his game on for about going flipping through the channels and everything came upon us and given to rent a hidden sweat. It all and i. It doesn't matter where he shoots from on the basketball court. He is shooting down at the best rookie. Smooth and he elevates boy. They're gonna be they're going to be impossible to be. Here was steve. Nash clinton the playoff birthday. I think we have. We have our eyes on bigger things. But that's a good first step. Here's durant on just seven shot attempts. It's my job. I get paid to make the right play every time. I'm not gonna get right every time but as long as i've been league teams get differences. I haven't seen. I have to be able to have worked it out. While last night blake griffin did have seventeen four the net so Seven shot attempts for durant kyrie irving did nothing and they do beat the raptors elsewhere. I mean go figure this one now. I don't know if you guys are aware of this. And i gotta a check What the odds would have been. I believe all six or seven road teams one in the nba last night measurement. That partly would have paid go. Wow that's an odd night and one of those road team oklahoma city losers of fourteen straight. They go to boston and beat the celtics one. Nineteen one fifteen brad stevens and iraq to this. I'm going to get ready for tomorrow's game. I think that that's what we have to do. You know i don't. I'm not going to beat up the group. That was fellas out there but boston has dropped four of their last five. Thirty two and thirty on the season. The bucks beat the hornets one. Fourteen one. oh four charlotte's lost seven of ten. They were playing well. They're now thirty and thirty one And the mavericks hammered the warriors. Last night i'll give you a one clip from this game and tell you why trying to drop it to luke on a post op. Here's the double from green and wiggins across the way to cleveland hill. Drive on curry fine. Luca left wing catches shoot three. Yeah that was luke. Dodges three of his thirty nine habit the run. The mavericks had in this game twenty-eight nothing one thirty i believe the warriors went and nine and a half minutes not without a fuel without a point and they get blown out all the time his team. It's very strange isn't it. Yeah the warriors. Do you get blown out all the time. Seems like steph curry's dropping thirty. Every night i know but when they lose they lose they lose last night. One thirty three one zero three at golden state The by those interesting. The bucks offering covid nineteen vaccinations to fans attending. Their game is sunday when they play the nets offering the john. Jay shot just pfizer. I believe it's pfizer. I don't think it's the johnson and go back and get another one for another game. Now hold on now. I gotta check. I didn't pull an al dukes on this. I actually did read this okay. But now that you're mentioning the fact. Oh you say. Pull it out dukes. What does that mean well. Al reads the headline in the first paragraph and then he's done details just ahead line and all of sudden jumps to conclusions. Then when you read. The freaking article headline has nothing to do with the article. I think most articles are like that these days but yeah. It's a classic warm-up show interaction where alice's jerry did you see this and then reads the headline jerry. Ask one question about the story no answers. That's pretty much. The way it goes a usually happens right before the show starts because here it all the time and it's algiers kroll barring in something at the end of the show. That hasn't really researched about right. Jerry yeah exactly and where was this out. Yeah i know no idea The bucks announced so eligible fans will receive refers dose of the pfizer covid nineteen vaccine And then fans who get their first dose at the forum where they play can schedule their appointment for a second dose with the health department officials on site so now i guess you don't necessarily have to go back to a bucks game but you make your scheduled appointment wherever that might be for your second vaccine shop. Okay so those kind of interesting. Well yeah. it's a good idea The dolphins traded eric flowers to washington. You had the islanders play the capital's just one lousy goal in this game beach. Orlov takes a hit from ryan. Here comes dinos groggy. pops scars. Yeah he was wrong guys. Killing the islanders sprung is playing in place of ovechkin sprung was sprung out. One nothing yes. He's clutch and now. He's a clutch dutch from the netherlands. That's right goalie guy from the netherlands. Vitek vanna check yet right. Eighteen saves win yes. My son-in-law was at it again. Fought chara again fighting char again. I mean i you keep doing the same thing over and over and over again and in the same result keeps happening especially when your wife told you to cut it out night off. And he's still doing well problem. Sometimes you gotta take care of things on your own. Yeah but sydney realized with time last. Two years yeah. It's a lot a little bit too much too much. Sandra feed on skates rangers. Beat the sabres three one and the devils gotta win and some excitement out of the booth because.

paul goldschmidt Nick sollac Cardinals sixteen Kevin durant mike james Jed lowrie joey wendell Rangers blake griffin Nine Nash clinton Sixteen washington two Jeff green nine and a half minutes Two Luca eight

"Up the mental as basit centerfield. Zunino goes to third hicks overruns. The ball and onto third goes care meyer. So it's a base in the ball game tied at one and tampa has first and third with no one out. And that is john sterling with the call. On what embarrassing. Oh yes it was. I would say so being swept by the raise. Seven balls friday night right now they do. They've lost five in a row. They're five and ten four to the final on sunday. Yoshi sugo to go ahead. Rbi double in seven. Joey wendell then homered the nine through of essentially put it away. I guess Garrett cole the loss three runs only two earned over six and a third did strike out ten and the yankees had absolutely no offense really to speak of giancarlo stanton a line drive home run and that was pretty much. That here was aaron boone. Just nothing's working right now. Obviously when when we're not you know doing other things or putting points on the board like we are. It's every little thing that they kind of adds up. I felt bad watching him. He looks like he just says no answers right now and understandably so here was garrett cole so how does this all change. I think we just got to play hard baseball. I mean you know we gotta take it one pitch at a time and oh and sell out every pitch you know the the results. The results will start to come see. He's not looking ahead like you are boomer. Yeah he's also regurgitating. Lot of your lines. Remember you used. Pressure is a privilege in his opening yankee. Press conference one pitch at a time. He really i mean you are like his mentor. And what was the last time. The mets had two guys in the top five in era as a starting pitcher. Jerry allison top. Seamer on a now rowan ryan. Tom seaver i dunno right now. That jacob the grammy leads the league with the zero point five. Era and marcus. Stroman is fifth with zero point. Nine zero let's get to stroman who was dazzling yesterday bowl. Pitching in with his defense to comes.

"Don't see him coming up before july to be honest unless just a whole rash of guys go down with injury and to the raise credit given him a ton of of action in spring training given them a ton of at bats but i still think they want to see him go through his lumps at aa and aaa and and go from there. The other thing too is like he might not be a shortstop at the big league level. They the raise might choose to move him at second base or third base. And it's hard to get better. It's hard to really fine tune those skills if you're sitting on the bench at the major league level or you're trying to just manage everything that needs to be managed when the bright lights are on at the major league level and traveling from city instead of just being able to work on your game on a backfield somewhere or in double a where. There's not so much attention. So i think there's some huge value into that where he's not just going to be a shortstop he might be. They want him to learn multiple positions things. He hasn't really done before in his career because he's wants a shortstop always shortstop kind of guy. So i think that's the thing too is i think the the bats definitely there for sure. I think the metality could be there in time but they want him to make sure that the defense there because at the end of the day this team is about pitching and defense and they wanna make sure that he's ready for that so i still think And they got to figure out what they're gonna do with the dumbest long-term a odometers a really good player to I think he's going to be entering arbitration relatively soon so he's still got several years of control he's he's a top of the step guy. He's a guy he's a legit clubhouse leader a legit vocal leader a legit guy to be around in the clubhouse and that's important is keeping the clubhouse light and loosened that something adamas does and and i know that it seems like everybody's we're always looking for that next guy always looking for that next prospect. Who's the next great thing. But we we've got a really good player right here and willie adamas. I know he strikes out at time but and he fails to hit the trop but Caveat aside he's still at the end of the day a really good player. You know two three four. When player that he he might be on the roster of the next couple of years to and and that kind of ties in with wander maybe learning a new position at the minor leagues and then seeing where he verse development is from that standpoint. I mean one thing that we've seen with prospects yankees bianchi's across the league with other organizations as well as that these top prospects if they decide that he's shortstop he's gonna play shortstop but they're not going to bring him up for a platoon job. They're not going to bring him up to sit on the bench like you said there's no especially if you lose your last year that's a that's a development. You know just a huge problem waiting to happen. There's no reason if that. I wouldn't be surprised if they slide if they were to slide a domicile to another position. And when ready you know you have franco. Who's going to be the long term at wherever he's positioned right. he's going to be that guy For you know for. However however long i could see dom even sliding over and making room for a guy like franco the shorts that they think he is and they and they get the time the fact that he's got to have those minor league at bats like you said i identify where he's going to be playing long-term i think will affect. I mean it seems to me that tampa would slide. people over. kevin cash is known for doing that. That guy like yonder franko. It seems like he's going to be a staple in one position and they just need to figure out what that position is going to be and it's also one of those things too. I mean at nineteen twenty years old. He's already very well built. So what's his body type going to look like by the time he's twenty five twenty six twenty seven. He might out very much outgrow the shortstop position. He's he's already got a lot of strength and you know when he gets when he inevitably if he adds another fifteen twenty pounds just because of biology Does he have the movement skills and the quickness to to maintain that spot. And i think that's going to be huge so And and they've also i think there's also been discussions about centerfield as a possibility too so i think they're going to try a lot of different things with him and see what sticks from there. I don't know if they would as long as dom is on the roster. I don't know if they would move him off of shortstop i think he he has shown enough and proven enough to be short. Stop but i think what could happen. Maybe is if there is a time where you see wander and adamas plane at the same time. They there might be times where the the rays can play. The platoon split a little bit in wanders favor because he is a switch hitter. So and that's the other thing i mean. That was a great point. Like they're not going to bring them up just to have him sit on the bench to to be a tenth or eleventh man on the bench. They want him to be playing every day into those reps. And i just don't see a spot as of right now. Look there could be a rash of injuries by the season. But you're not taking joey wendell spot. You're not taking yanni d. As a spot you're not taking brandon laus spot so you're gonna take brett phillips spot last man on the bench like that doesn't really make sense. No injuries have to play for for him to to be there. It's gotta make sense long-term to like. Yeah they're not gonna plug them in just for a short term fix unless it's at the end of the season and they're trying to catch lightning in a bottle. Maybe maybe they make some concessions at that point and and that's where the big question too is. There has been some rumors this off season about. You know possibly shipping them off to. I know the reds were kicking the tires. A little bit. And i'm sure there will be other teams as well if you know. This is going to be a big free agency. Year for some of the big name shortstops. The trevor stories may be francisco. Lend door carlos correa so many other that there might be a team. That is looking for a veteran more cheap shortstop option. That i mean really. Adamas is still a pretty young kid to i think. Twenty four twenty five years old. That's that's got a lot of play left in his game and maybe a change of scenery where for whatever reason. I don't know if that it's bad batter's eye or some vision issue. He just struggles at the trump for whatever it may be but That he could be a really valuable inexpensive piece for another franchise. Also that would then open up an opportunity for whether it's fidel brouhaha. Wander franko taylor walls. The list goes on and on. I mean that is the thing like the rays have so many middle infield types that it's like. How are we going to find all these guys they i. I didn't even mention savior edwards in greg joensuu at some point seemingly will be knocking on the doors lot of those guys switch hitters to which is sort of a fun thing to think about as the race tried to baby hit the platoons margin as the game is changing with you. Know we might be seen bigger figure bases and deadened balls. Were you know. Speed and athleticism is the name of the game. Yeah that could be something where the raise could They might be playing into that advantage. There the next decade or so..

joey wendell willie adamas fifteen twenty pounds tenth kevin cash franco brett phillips next decade second base twenty five third base last year eleventh yankees bianchi Twenty four twenty five years nineteen twenty years old twenty six one position twenty seven yonder franko
