"Let's see. Final results of the poll question, seat O'Connor. Dan, we got three of them working today, a couple of must wins. Week three must win for the Raiders. Tonight must win for the browns. And people would prefer a group of players by the sons of mercury rather than a billionaire businessman. Did you see where the mets said a modern baseball record for batters hit by a pitch? 106. Guys, they hit or their guys that got hit. The mets broke the record after New York's 106th hit by pitch of the season. It still seems confusing, but the mets were actually the best. Because buck show older ask for the ball as a keepsake. Of his hitters being hit by pitch. 106 times. You've got to save this for a motivation. Let's go around the room. What we learned on this program, Todd will start with you. Lewis Reddick thinks the Titans, especially with that AG Brown, could quite possibly be just an average team machine. All righty, seat no Connor junior the third. Joey Votto claims we've had him on many times. I didn't recognize him with the beard. Marv. We got Todd Harlan now. Oh, so to Kevin, Kevin Harlan's brother Todd. Outstanding. Thank you, Todd. Back after this. Pauly is great to finally have Joey Votto on the show. Yeah. We've been trying a long time. Todd, what did I learn? Ramona shelburne is hearing Robert Starr could get $3 billion for the Phoenix Suns. We all have different ideas about success, and we achieve it

"Wine and we chop up the Saint Louis Cardinals fans are hard on me at times, you know, the cardinals. Oh, they are. Sneaky sneaky sneaky they are. Well, great to have you on. Good luck with the recovery. I appreciate it. And I don't know. What do you think? Should we have Joey on maybe again sometime? Absolutely. Tomorrow. Oh, nice. I'll see you guys next time for the first time. Okay. Thank you, Joey. That's Joey Votto. Fan. He should work for the league. You should work for baseball. Or maybe you'll go into the medium. Yeah, Pauline. The social media reaction from our fans when we have this guy and it's really overwhelming. People like get this guy in a booth, get this guy in the show. Give him his own show on MLB network or whatever, get him in the league, like his ambassador or baseball. I don't remember having a question mark attached to Mike Trout going into the Hall of Fame. I didn't know what I said there. You were questioning whether Joey was going to go to the post. Not trout. Yeah. I don't think you said anything about this. Trump could go into the Hall of Fame right now. No doubt. He could go into the Hall of Fame right now. His first 8 years are fresh. He would go into the whole thing. All right, when we come back, one of my favorite press conferences of all time. I have that for you when we return. Business owners, are you feeling boxed in? Pressures of running a business. And there's so many things you have to worry about. Remote workforces you've got to keep up with changing regulations, HR compliance, hiring, retaining top talent, handling payroll, the list goes on and on and on. And after a while you're going, I just want to run my business.

"But the red sands were excited. And you know, I got a lot of that. You look like Joey. And then when eventually I think there was like message around the stadium, maybe at about the halfway point. When I hit the right field bleachers, for sure, when I hit the right field bleachers, which was like Mark number three. That's when people knew, oh, Joey's in the stands right now. And they were so they were so welcoming, so excited to see me. And I was excited to see them. It was cool. I mean, it just was because you're able to you don't get to see. It's almost like an actor who gets to go on the other side of the camera. And they get to see what the director sees. You get to sit there with the fans to see what that is like. And as you said, you'd never done that before, but growing up. How many baseball games did you go to? Few, you know, from 13, 14 on baseball, kept me busy. I remember, maybe a couple here and there, but not many games, and that was the appeal to me. You know, I love going to a baseball game. And I'm in the middle of my career and every day, when I'm playing, I'm in a completely different frame of mind. I'm locked in on my work, not my teammates. I wanted to support my teammates, but they're doing their own work. I'm locked in on how well the team plays and how well I play over and over and over. And you become robotic. When it comes to your interactions with the fans, signing autographs, smiling for a picture, signing on around smiling for a picture. Over and over and over and over. And you can't let your guard down because you have to save that stamina. You have to save that energy for performance that night, recovery at night, game the next day, over and over and over. And so it's important to me to connect with the fans, but it's also important to protect my energy, whereas yesterday, I was able to completely let my guard down and connect with the fans. The only thing I had to do was protect my shoulder, but it was such a different experience because I'm still in the heart of my career. I think at this stage, I'm recognizing that it's going to end at some point. I'm not sure when, but you know, I just turned 39 and I'm much, much closer to the end than I am. I am even the middle of beginning. And so to me, I wanted another thing too. I want people to the fans to know who I am. Like, it's a little different when you're a former player and you enter the crowd. You can sit in your seat and watch the game, and they're like, we didn't get to see you play. Whereas I'm walking around and there's vato jerseys, you know, there's people that watch me play just a month ago. In live. So I don't know why just appealed to me. And just watching a game, I got to sit with a couple of fans for a bit, take it in, take in the angle. It was just, it was a really charming experience for me. We're talking to Joey Votto, second consecutive year. He's the reds nominee for baseball's prestigious Roberto Clemente, award. A couple of analyst at ESPN. A couple of very short baseball guys said that what Aaron judge is doing. Could be, could be the greatest baseball season of all time.

"One of our favorite guests, Joey Votto, the reds first baseman 6 time all star won the MVP back in 2010 and now he's a fan. I mean, not a fan of this show. I'm just talking about he was a fan at the ballpark. He's out with a shoulder surgery. You were trending on Twitter. Was this planned that you were going to go and be a fan and watch the game? Hi, Dan. Hi, Joey. I am a fan of your show. I it just all came about. So I throw in a Pittsburgh pirates of Roberto Clemente Jersey when I was accepting the nomination for the Cincinnati reds, and I felt guilt. I felt guilt that I had a pirates Jersey on. So I was like, I got to take this Jersey off. It's the right thing to do with where the Jersey, but I needed to give it to a fan. So I was like, all right, I've never been in the stands before. I'm going to head up. We're going to give the Clemente Jersey to a young fan. I'm going to sign I had a reds 21 also. I'm allowed to wear 21 because I'm a Clemente nominee. I signed that one. I'm going to go give it to a fan. So I head upstairs. And I go to the entryway and I'd always imagined hoped that one day I would be able to interact with the fans kind of during my career, but I'm playing. And I'm injured right now. So I had the opportunity. So I head up to the front gates, the security. I walk outside and there's a little one there, and I give her the Clemente Jersey, and she was appreciative, and then I crossed paths with another reds fan. And I give my Jersey to. And so I'm there. I start taking pictures, start signing autographs. And then I just decide, this feels okay. This feels safe. People are reacting well. I'm going to keep going. So I've never been to the 500 section before. I head upstairs. I go to the 502nd. What have you? I've never seen a reds game before. I've never interacted with the reds fans mid game. I get down there. I go behind home plate. I go into the right field bleachers, left the obliques, walk the concourse. You know, the reactions I got made it worthwhile. So it just all came so quickly. But did you get people who, well, the reactions were what? I'm gonna guess they're like, you kind of look like Joey Votto, but you can't be Joey Votto. Lots of that. There was a lot of Red Sox fans. And most of them looked at me and were like, dude, show me your ticket. Is this even your seat?

"And then, frankly, the sponsors, you know, PayPal is the only sponsor that came forward publicly to denounce what happened with Robert Starr was saying they didn't association with the sons afterwards. But there were, from what I understand, a lot of sponsors that were joining the line and the dominoes were going to start falling pretty soon. And I think yesterday in Robert announcing he was going to sell the team was probably about the last time he would have been able to make that announcement or decision really of his own volition on his own time frame because the walls were going to start closing in. Yeah, I thought that when the commissioner said, hey, I can't do anything. Can he start the process of asking the other owners or governors about that? That's what I want to do. Hey, I can't take away his team. But Roger Goodell did this when, hey, I can't take away Daniel Snyder. What can you start the process? And I wondered if Adam silver was going to start the process with the other owners. I think that was on the table. I don't think that had started, Dan. I don't think that process. But there's one pretty big difference in that in the NFL when the report came out on the commanders and Dan Snyder and all that, that report wasn't released in full. It wasn't really, they weren't given a lot of details. The NBA report is not the full report, of course. There was 320 witnesses who were interviewed. It was distilled down into 43 pages, but there were still 43 pages. And they were pretty specific on certain incidents. And I thought there was in a way that was the process, right? That is starting to process, like you drop that into the water. And give people time to read it and digest it. And I think the longer that was in the public consciousness, the more people read it, the more, and I have to give a lot of credit to the players who talked about it publicly because they did it before they were asked, right? LeBron James was asked his opinion, he just gave it on Twitter and indeed it was Chris Paul. But they were specific and they were public in what they called for. And I just don't, there wasn't going to be a path for Robert Sauber to keep owning team. He was going to fight. He fought real hard behind the scenes. To keep owning the team. But once the sponsors started pulling out, we're about to start pulling out en masse. That's when I think things really change for him and for the league and that they ended up in a place where and let's be real about it. If you're the other owners in the NBA, you know, in Congress when they vote on something, it's all public, right? So on C-SPAN and you see who votes on everything and you have a record.

"Well, in the workplace, you know, you have power dynamics, right? I mean, I understand being disciplined because of that, that he's somebody's superior, but for a year, right, same for me. When I first heard about this, that was my thought too. It's like that felt very severe. It felt very. Now we had a similar situation in Minnesota a couple of years ago with Kirsten rosa, who is the president of basketball operations who had a consensual relationship with a team employee. And both rosas and the team employee ended up leaving the organization. And it was sort of over of their own volition, but it was against team policy and against organizational rules. And so we found out some of the details, but again, there was because both of them stepped away, you only got some of the story. And I'm wondering how this is going to play out in the next couple of days, but it's a messy, dicey situation. And obviously, very serious to warn a yearlong suspension. I mean, that's a long punishment for a bright young coach in who had just had so much success last year. If I told you a week ago, Robert sarver will be selling the Phoenix Suns Phoenix mercury, what would your reaction have been? I would have, I would have given you a nice nod. I don't think I don't think I expected him to sell this quickly. I thought he would eventually sell. The whole time because whether it was going to happen now or 6 months from now or closer to when that year long suspension was going to be up. I just didn't see a path for him to continue owning and operating NBA franchise after what was in that report. If you really sat down and read the 43 pages, which Chris Paul did, which Devin Booker did, Deandre ayton, all the star players in that organization, people actually read the report, which I think is why there's been so much of a somewhat of a delayed reaction to it. So when I covered the Donald Sterling situation in 2014, one of the issues was it was a tape. Y'all heard the tape. And you have this very gut level visceral reaction to a tape. And everybody hears the same thing. This is different in that a lot of the reporting is off the record or a source. There's not names on these situations. There's no tape for you to listen to. And you actually have to read 43 pages of report. Some of which details are not, they don't go all the way with the details because they're protecting the people whose stories they are. They're protecting their identities. And so there was a delayed reaction on this of the outcry and the outrage in the time that it took for people to read a report. And I remember thinking to myself, you know, at this age, how often do you read a full book? How often do people read more than what they see in a tweet or a short article? I actually give people a lot of credit for sitting down and going through that report and digesting it in that time frame. It feels like there was pressure applied somewhere. I don't know who applied the pressure. So the pressure was applied by the players. You heard what staff it was. You heard what Chris Paul said, what LeBron James tweeted what draymond green said. But it was also applied privately. Behind the scenes, there was a lot said and done by Adam with Robert Sauber.

You recently wrote something that speaks to how joey votto sees himself at this point in his career and it's actually tied to the tv. Show ted lasso. Can you explain. Yeah if you guys haven't watched had last. So i i love this show It's one of my absolute favorites but david bill. The reds manager started watching the show. It was his brother's favourite show. His brother passed away the spring and then david washed really liked it and was really into it and was kind of comparing himself to ted lasso in joking kind of way and so joey because like we talked about the spanish and the japanese he wanted to know his manager petr so he watched the show and then david bell said something joey about him. Being roy kent who on the show is this aging superstar. In his last hurrah and a little bit of a cremation. a little. Bit of a curmudgeon band roy. Ken enough. I can handle just being. Some loser has been called. Roy or i roy. Yeah what you've been out to and there are some similarities. There really are. But joey said no. I'm jamie tart. there's a young buck jamie tar. Who's the star of the team. And i said i'm jamie tar. I'm not roy tent. I'm jamie tartan at so jamie. Has this moment where he scores a goal and says may be and so. When i started hitting home runs i would do that. And look at dave bell. Like i'm jamie tarred. I'm the young buck. When he hits home runs to sell the other night. You know straight to point that his own back that he's jamie tart so as we record this. The team that joey votto place for the cincinnati reds sits in second place in the nfl central and they would be one of the nfl wildcard teams at the playoffs started today. What are the teams strengths and weaknesses. Strengths joey votto. We'll also the offense. We were sitting there the other day and are thinking the cast janos was at the plate and i heard some people chanting. Mvp and is it for the guy at the plate are on deck. Those joey votto both of them have cases. Jesse winker had a fantastic year. He's currently injured. Jonathan india a rookie. Who should be a prime candidate for rookie of the year. Also playing very well tyler. Aikman was just named the nationally player of the week. Kyle farmer at shortstop has been a revelation the weakness has been the bullpen. They brought in three guys at the trade deadline to try to solidify that bullpen. It's gotten better. It's still not a strength and that's going to be a question down. the stretch. Finally tread. Joey votto has been with the reds since two thousand seven. They've made the playoffs four times with him including last season but they've never won a playoff series. What would breaking that. Drought means tomato and the reds. This year i think for joey it would help solidify what he has done. No professional sports team in the city has advanced since nine hundred five. That's what the bengals haven't done it. Since nineteen ninety the reds lost to the braves in the ninety five they won the world series in nineteen. Ninety that's a whole generation. So i think it would be huge. You know when you're talking about great. Cincinnati reds players. Always going to be chasing the ghosts of the big red machine. You know. this is a smaller town or city. But there's a huge shadow when it comes to baseball because perhaps the greatest team ever played here and joey votto is an all time great for this organization but he does not have any hardware. I think it would really big part of his legacy if he could do definitely well. Thank you so much for sharing all these stories about probably one of the most interesting men in baseball you. "Trend joey. Votto is a couple of weeks away from his thirty eighth birthday and he's really been having a renaissance season that includes a pretty big milestone recently. Can you give us a sense of how good vital has been this year and in particular. How good he's been the last four or five weeks it's mind-blowing honestly like i used to always say this and i think i'd finally stopped following my advice that you never underestimate joey about it and you know he struggled the last couple seasons and i started doubting it and starting downing if he could be joe yvonna again and not only is he joey votto. He's the two thousand ten joey. Votto which is the young kid who won an mvp and then got a ten year two hundred and fifty million dollar extension. You know you saying unless four weeks last four weeks last month. Not only did he hit home. Runs in seven straight games. "Really i mean rob knows that. I know that he knows that. I know that is measured in kilowatts. So he's just trying to poke the bear. I'm not so easily provoked. Cassie that will leave it at that. we'll leave it at that as mentioned yesterday caught up with well just one of the best athletes. This country has produced this entry. It's that simple fifteen years in cincinnati as their first baseman and national league. Mvp and he's a contender again. Here's our conversation with joey votto with cincinnati reds first baseman. Joey votto one of two canadians with two thousand hits in the major leagues and accomplished just last week joy. Thanks for making time appreciate it. Thank you both for having me. We saw the ovation. We you got. We saw the Recognition that you gave back to the crowd upon two thousand hits wanted to media. I've been in one uniform in one city. Mine tire major league career. I was raised through the reds minor league system as well drafted by them in two thousand and two and You know there's there's moments meaningful moments go by very very quickly and if you don't catch him as a major leaguer the they'll slip through your hands and that was one of those moments that it may have lasted tier three minutes but was very very memorable. I was able to connect with with the city. That means a great deal to me. That's been so good to me. I was. I was able to do it in a uniform. That's familiar that feels like home and You know i. I'm very proud to have i. Didn't i wasn't trying to time it this way but Get my two thousand hit in cincinnati in front of the home crowd. Saved it up good for you. The career has been a along an amazing one for you. And it just seems to me that you've seemingly savored it even more and you've always been accessible doing interviews like this wrote your career but it seems like in the last handful of years particular you're really stopping and smelling the roses in your career. It really savoring every moment. Enjoying what you do playing baseball and also interacting with the fans and everything. It was a moment that you can remember where you made a conscious effort to to enjoy yourself more or to be present more just seems like it seems like you're really there. Yeah yeah. I think. I've i've i've made Whether it's an intentional effort. Or it's just i can't help it To exclusively.

"What is the single nastiest thing that you've seen Well carlos moammar mole was one of the one of the toughest sliders overseeing. He was a former cubs player but the nastiest pitch was c sabathia his slider. I felt like facing him. He was such a big man. he'd start this slide. Basically behind your back and it would finish for a ball on occasion in the batter's box and then eight hit ya and then stare at you. You know it was like you're you're looking for a slider that might star behind your back. But it ends up being a fastball. At your neck you know. Also that most definitely got the toughest bitch in my opinion. We gotta let you go. It's been a pleasure watching your work for a long time. Your excellence for a long time. If you had anything to tell twenty. Two year old. Joey votto right now. What kind of advice would you give him. After the last fifteen years I was really lucky to have a great hitting coach as a as a young professional and everything he taught me at that at eighteen. Nineteen at twenty is the exact same sort of stuff. I need to be doing now. So trust trust the people that have been good to you. And i've had good good people in my corner. So yeah top-three strangest places. Where joey votto will do the imaginary batting stance with no bat. No bad in his hands in the hotel room with my pajamas on in the hotel. Bathroom naked and Standing on top of the bed in the hotel room thinking about tomorrow's. Thank you for being on with us. Good catching up with you. All right thank you. All 174 against anderson bado haunting him. What are you doing by did it. As he was walking away was perfect..

"We'd have plenty of kids in the clubhouse. It was the best. It was the best. It was like this communal thing that all the all the dads in the clubhouse all the players took care of all the kids kids would come to the park. Play play tag with one another hit cage. Play catch you know on occasion going the outfield shag balls and they get done have a meal with their dad have slushy or whatever and so their union and you know watch the game and ryan used to hit off his father in the outfield. Come in have a slushy and a burger or something like that and then throw some shorts on and like wet. The shower area down with soap. And you know slip and slide there. And now i'm facing him in the major league he's making outs. I'm getting now. It's against them. It's crazy how things have come full circle. I mean i watched griffey. junior play. Play obviously played with him and he kind of gave me that same feedback. Once you start seeing kids of players play against you. You know you're old so many of them call you mr bado. I'm getting some excuse me. I'm getting some serves at first base and i'm telling i'm probably gonna hate young cat young player. I'm going to play longer than you. Don't serve me. i'll be in the league longer than you don't serve me. Stugotz this story. But one of the coolest stories. I've seen and there are a few and i don't know if you want to repeat it forced to god's if he hasn't seen it but just how honored you were to wear the shirt and forgive my ignorance of the clubhouse guys because you made your way you had to do a day right of remedial sort of clubhouse clubby work and you found it to be an honor. Yeah i a so the the rule is if you get ten years of time in a in a reds uniform you get this clubhouse shirt has your name on it only the clubhouse staff wear and the rule is every sunday they all wear it and you have to wear so on sundays this sunday. This coming sunday. Wear the shirt i come into the clubhouse. Play the game and then the second. I'm i'm showered and dressed. I have to put the shirt on and go scrub shoes. Put some laundry back just for a second or two and then we've kind of like if the team wins goodwin by the boys today or if the team loses and the boys got to pick it up today you know just just to join their group and i love it. I love it. It's it's probably the best gift i've received as a cincinnati red that includes my ten year contract. I mean that that's my favorite gift. When's the last time. Or how often does joey votto weep on a baseball field. Either from pain or gratitude weep not. I've never cried on the field. I've never cried on the field. I don't i don't believe last yesterday funny enough. Yesterday i was doing an interview with A radio group in toronto. And they were asking me about my relationship with my father actually started to well up a little bit during that conversation but No not on the ball field. I don't. I don't think so. Funny story so i played with Jay bruce who's now retired for the yankees and several other teams. And we used to have this thing. Where if you found the ball off your off your shin guy. Hit by a pitch got hurt in any way shape or form. You didn't say anything you went to first base. It was a point of pride no reaction. Nobody give. Don't give the opposition any sort of satisfaction. Don't let on that. You need to come out of the game. And so i felt a ball my shin and it hurt really badly and not two days later. I filed a ball shin again off that very same spot and i couldn't breathe. I was going to throw up. I'm in the box. And i'm very very angry. I'm in a lot of paint. And i look in the dugout. And he says i am. I allowed to curse on here just yet go hand on the fly. He said in a roundabout way. Don't be a wimp. You know in a i contact. I'm in the batter's box competing against the pitcher. And he's on the bench thing you know and i look at him and i say you know in the middle i curse it him and a relationship. I had with him but i was very nearly not crying out of sadness but just like i couldn't. I was overwhelmed pain at the time but other than that. No joey give us a random pitcher that you simply can't baseball so weird in this way so i love asking guys. This gives us a random pitcher. You simply cannot hit simply cannot have brett anderson at the brewers i tell you what he We're gonna play them soon so it's probably not a good idea to share this. He just keeps. It doesn't matter what he fires in there. I make outs. And i feel good against him. I feel confident against him. But it's getting to the point. Now where our manager. Dave bell is i would. I would guess he's probably gonna time a day off for when we when we up against them just can't seem to get them innocent of the milwaukee brewers and it's been like that i think my entire career according to joey votto one of the greatest hitters. We've seen the nastiest pitch that you have seen comes from the arm of whom what is it. Is it a fastball. Is at a different pitch..

"That. You're gonna do it when you're adding you are. You're gonna shuffle through the nursing home your dog bottom buddy somebody. Some guy who you've never met never talked to three years sharing the nursing home with him. And and you're gonna you're gonna go by and you're going to say professor. I'm gonna poke by head into his robe. It's a professional right. It's not him does not in the same nursing home with you. It's just somebody who is thinking about joey votto and maybe herb street edge. He's reds fed. They'll tell bilby telling stories about him and vodka. When all pop in professional i do. I have my senior living establishment with kirk herbstreit. I don't have any idea you just don't wanna just poverty nevada's room and having tell you stories but that timing phase marcus stroman now. I had myself the same. What is herbie. because he's a reds fan now but you before that you had it where you bottle was there to the moments earlier vodka was there. Even though he's eleven years younger than you wackos his room. If i ran the senior living place would just be professional hitter. Everyone would notice. And there's everyone know. Just what do you think life is like for major leaguer for major leaguer at a senior living facility. That's the only answer more exciting. The baseball game playing with this line and keep making fard. Sounds not realizing that my mic is on. And i record things and i it was too. I thought just lifted up his leg and let one fly nice. I i'm right there with you wittingham. I thought that's not anything other than stugatz. Just letting it go. Some maybe a little bit of raising letting it fly. Sorry for the delay. thanks dan. La this joey crack and let's get cracking. Let's start here joe. You got two thousand ahead. You walk too much. You should be at three thousand hits. Who do you look at on. The three thousand hits list and say i'm better than that dude. That dude didn't walk enough. You ask you to destroy all time greats. I wow that's a. that's a good intro. No no no no no got names in your hand see going through them. And you're like should i risk it. You can go into the eighteen hundreds if you think or do you think it's too soon. They're hundreds i'm not. i'm not. I'm not done playing yet so if i play long enough. We'll see we'll see how far this can go. But yeah now there's a there's a lotta great hitters in the three thousand hit club some of my very favorite hitters of all time but most of my almost all of my actually all of my favorite hitters aren't in the three thousand hit club and the greatest hitters of all time are not in three thousand eight clubs so yeah that's that's my take on that. Aren't you too young to have a ted williams poster on your wall up. It seems that doesn't even make any sense to me. Yeah i had. I had a coach that was very very old school. That revered the rogers hornsby's and the bay bruce in the ted williams and and i follow. I followed that sort of. I started hunting and then I understood the appeal and Purchase the the science hitting carried it with me everywhere including my years in the major leagues and Yeah it's it's it's been good to me. Of course you have. Do you have something that. You're prouder of that speaks to how disciplined and how good you are as a hitter than going. However many years you went without a pop up in the infield was that you went without popping up. You know the thing. I'm most proud of so a lot. People have asked me you know. Were how come how come you weren't driving in runs and hitting home runs like you're doing right now. And it's because i intentionally switch my style to emulate my very favorite hitters. Bonds is the williams. The ruth's the high gehrig's the high walk. Slow strike outs lots of power. You know these were my very favorite players growing up mostly through baseball reference. Mostly through your eyesore statistical And sort of stat page and That i made that adjustment and copied their style. Even though my natural style is to take take heart aggressive swings. Hit the ball hard. Strike out some. That's that's probably the thing that i'm i'm. I'm most proud of dan. What was the question. I was asked a pop up. You went several years. No that's that's now. I'm gonna pop up some because that's that's a biproduct. I'm missing home. Runs missing balls in the gap. So i did that with the intent on hitting the ball on a line putting the ball in play being tough out and Now there's going to be. I think i've popped up five six times so far this year. Which is you know. I'd go what i'd go ten years popping up many times so but you're better than cap anson like you're you're better. You're better than panton allowed to. Are we allowed to guess on. Go ahead let it fly. Take out to go ahead and take him out yet. No no i don cap anson. He's got three thousand hits overrated. Though i say about his great great grandchild. Children are gonna come at you for sure for that. Do you have a stretch that felt better in your career than seven homers in seven games..

"Broadcast loved one. Wait did i just do this. Got sick calling off boxed yourself in on that one. Didn't you apologize and we actually had this conversation with witty on a local hour like mystery gray like months ago. What are you gonna do. And dan ask you when you're broadcasting these games and start doing show lines and he's like a really hope that that doesn't happen because i don't want to and i don't know what to say you're gonna ask him or witty. Scared is not something we've seen around the broadcasts. I've been bouncing off the idea of having a signature. Call all the grades. Have the signature call and goal is obviously done but in mls. It's a weird league for many reasons. But i'll stack their goals up against anybody in the world. They have phenomenal goals. He's the one. I sent you the other day where it was a corner kick in a guy just sent a missile launcher grabbed the corner kick and kicked it into the net at a million miles per hour. Wait a second. Are you saying they're goals are better than anyone else's goals. They take more ambitious chances and they they somehow go in one week of. Mls you'll see better goals in you'll see an higher premier league season it's incredible. It's it's random. I don't get it. I don't know if it's ball manipulation. I care if maybe it's an olympics and dinovite it's taking chances more chance maybe analytics in the premier league they rely more heavily on that and just get closer get closer get closer but they have these things that have been known now as bangers like banger goals. Mls muscles well spanish remember. Mls is soccer soccer right. So i told him you should yell banger. Anytime there's a banger goal. No one's got that. But it'd be really weird coming.

"Let's go pain. it's great. Miami is great to be her young with the swagger ra after we beat the gators. I say we. After we beat the years ago i cooked gator and i was trying offering into and you do. That's what you do you cook gator and handed to people on the way out. Is that what you do. I i think Well the champions was really cool for chelsea but in terms of like relate ability as an adult be only time as as a grown man dollar montauk and early twenty s. The only time. I felt anything like the energy pulsating from the orange bowl was actually at hard rock stadium when we destroyed notre dame. That was crazy dan. You weren't there in person for that game. that's when you knew. All we need is a really good team to make this place kind of feel like what is the bet that i lost to golick thinking i lost the bet did i was thinking that miami had no chance to win that game because i was saying the notre dame offensive line. That ear was the best thing. I'd seen across college sports jessica and then i lose that bet because of your football team. How annoying is it. Going to be mike and jessica going back and forth this year on programs with a pass that nobody wants to hear about anymore. Here and on top of that. You got saturday's covered but on sundays with steelers browns. You don't even know how much i hate that football team. You know. i don't think about you at all dan. It's the greatest suffering in steelers. history of had. Their last season ended by reminding her in the audience. Because i'm pretty sure you've thought about me after wild card weekend. I thought you know this season is a wash. there was cove it. There was a pandemic the you know. The steelers had their entire schedule screwed over by the ravens in week. Twelve and so none of it really counted at twelve. You're twelve hundred. Eleven and our mike. Did we get the excuse machine from espn when we were wrestling. All of the old timey sounds because jessica was just making a whole bunch of excuses for why it is like it was excuse after excuse for why ranking it out had their season ended. But i don't think jessica's ever heard the excuse machine. Cova dan pfizer so many mike. You hate this pivot over to the excuse machine me asking you to go through the computer. Two thousand seven especially when. I don't think we've ever had like a true excuse machine mike. Is that the team. You hate most in sports. The steelers is that it yeah. It's no gators. I really hate the gator. Chris cooked. Gator where did you do this. Chris like how did this work the cook. The gator go to delaware chicken farm because gives the get obscure meat. And i went there and i had. I did a batch. Before i was doing her on the way in on the way out. If i'm being honest but afterwards we won. I was just cooking and just being an asshole just off bringing people eat it like chicken. But you're looking for gator fan to be able to hold the plate. I didn't actually need gator. it's really just the idea. what's anyone else doing. This got says. That's what you do. And i think you're the only person to do it the least florida way possible. Which is you went to a deli of some sort. Do you trust the obscure place when you walk out of a stadium and away stadium and your team just lost especially if it's in a really horrible fashion. That feeling is one of the worst feelings in the world. And i remember in two thousand fourteen. Notre dame lost pit at heinz field and notre dame was favored to win. And i walked out of that. Heinz field feeling so dejected. And all my family went to pit. And i'm obviously a steelers fan. So walking out and getting taunted by pitt fans. I was like you guys like. I'm a steelers fan like we're on the same team here like nice. Come on listening terrible going to road. Games is a dangerous game and some advice for future road games. You dressed in a way. That's neutral and then you start siding pretending that you're a fan of the home care what you have just a terrible fan. You shouldn't be telling anybody had address. I love going road games but it almost never works out for me. And i'm i never learned from my mistakes. I went to that. Lsu game where we just got destroyed and dallas and people were tearing apart my oversized foam cowboy hat a rogue. And you know you're not winning just in the span of seven days. I'm watching my team. Play alabama football and on the road kansas city. I've got no shot at winning. Either of those games mike and i are respectively. Went to game for the first round of the stanley.

"This dude is winning rookie of the year in the national league. I don't care. He's winning it. He's the best. He's the best rookie in the national league. by far. This dude is so much fun to watch for the reds jesse winker is in sixth place right now with a three ninety five on base percentage and then seven plays rate on the tail of both of. Those guys is freddy freeman. Who has three ninety three. On base percentage in seventh place are slugging percentage leaders. Go as follows. Shohei ohtani followed by vladimir guerrero junior followed then by joey votto rafael denver's and matt olsen rounds out the top five. Right cyber nicholas casinos. Jesse winker all right outside looking in shohei otani has a six forty seven on base versus me. Slugging percentage at this moment and that and that comes from him having more home runs than he does doubles or triples and leading the league in that category. It's pretty impressive. If i do say so myself vladimir guerrero junior is in second place with a six eleven. Slugging percentage that dude also more home runs than doubles but shohei ohtani just edging slightly. In that aspect joey votto a 575 slugging percentage which is really impressive considering he started off slow this year and then got hurt and since he's come back he has been an absolute terror and almost like i would consider him one of the mvp candidates right now in the nfl. Like i think he's. He's clearly among the league leaders in hitters. And i think he's one of the biggest reasons that reds team. I mean that red steam has a ton of guys. You nicholas casinos. Jesse winker jonathan india. You have a really good pitching staff and sunny gray with wade miley and louis. The reds the reds team. I am loving this team a cinderella story. I'm sorry it's just. I think this team has has the makings at at really getting people excited about baseball. Which is why like like even though like you have the giants and and the and the dodgers out the as well as the padres like the reds are the reds are pretty good. I i really like this team. They don't have any quit in them and that offense is going to keep them in ballgames. I just absolutely love that team. Rafael denver's though they are these in fourth place right now he has eight five. Seventy slugging percentage and matt olsen has a five seventy slugging percentage as well but he's played just a couple or just a couple of fewer games than rafael denver's. Bryce harper is the guy. I guy on the outside looking in with eighty five sixty seven on base percentage to get into the top five. That's another guy that i think in the nfl definitely deserves some consideration in the mvp. Conversation as does nicklaus cassiano some jesse winker and they both have a five sixty. Three slugging percentage five six percentage. Both of those guys have definitely cooled off since they're hot starts way back in the early of the season but they are still very productive instill great hitters. They're just not as hot as they once. Word art illegal leader. In opie is vladimir guerrero. Junior has a one thousand twenty opie s so far this year followed by shohei otani who has a one thousand seven opie s then. Bryce harper is in third place with a nine eighty one. Now he is on the outside looking in on slugging percentage but because of how good his on base percentage is throws his. Opiates up there with the other guys. Like shohei otani and vladimir guerrero junior and. that's one of the reasons why i think. Bryce harper deserves more credit in this category. He's followed by. max muncie. Who is another guy that definitely needs to be talked about more a little bit in this. Mvp conversation muncie as a nine sixty four on base percentage. Excuse me opie s on baseball slugging. And i see the reason that i don't really love. Max muncie as at. Mvp candidate is because while he does walk a lot and when he does hit the ball it goes along way he was hitting two seventy four right now which is still good..

nicholas casinos vladimir guerrero matt olsen jesse winker rafael denver reds shohei otani joey votto national league freddy freeman Shohei ohtani Jesse winker shohei ohtani Jesse winker jonathan wade miley Bryce harper Rafael denver opie nfl nicklaus cassiano
