"But those great at math and you're doing one hundred thirty miles going five miles an hour. That's how long consistently being exposed to a breeze and negative forty degrees. And it was miserable to say the least. And then you give me an absurd amount of respect for those idea. Guys. They're doing a thousand miles and by like mile sixty. I'm like how we gotta be close. And then when you finally made it back to I think it was Anchorage. You are. No, yeah. Your hotel. We what was the temperature difference on on my hotel was like seventy five right at it. So hot because I was still trying to defrost like how incredible is that? Like the guys in Chicago in in in Milwaukee and those northern states like literally seventy seventy or seventy five degree difference. My days ago like debts, not everybody's gonna be fucking sick up. They're crazy. So let's get into some news. I know you had a story. You're telling me about that. I just don't I can't even believe it. Yes. So I let me pull it up. I was actually funny enough right before we started the podcast. I was asking Joe like dude you saw about that guy in the news. Right. And he's like, no. And I'm like how we gotta talk about this, then so let's see a sixty five year old Pennsylvania. Resident this is your cave-in PA says his emotional support. Wait for it. Suspense pause. His emotional support alligator helps him deal with his depr- guys. This is a real story. Google sixty five year old Joey Henny of your cave-in says his registered registered emotional support animal named Wally likes to snuggle gifts hugs, despite being a five foot long alligator Henny says he received approval from his doctor to use wall E's motion support animal after not wanting to go on medication for depression. Any does acknowledge that Wally is still dangerous and wild animal and could possibly tell his arm one day. But he said so far he's never been afraid of Wally nuts analogous her. Do this an emotional support? Alligator how like let's talk about that. I like, what do you guys think comment below like, what do you guys think about someone having an emotional support Mallaig? I think it's a mockery of the motion support animals like that whole system, I think I think at this point. It's that whole program is turned into a fucking joke. You know, it's one thing when you have peacocks boarding American Airlines. But now, you're you're talking about your your cuddling with an alligator because he relieves you or emotional stress. That's I love he's like. Yeah. I mean, granted he can probably rent my face off and kill what what's this point behind, quote, unquote, certifying the emotional support allegation. What do you mean? What's lying like what's the purpose? So he could bring it home. So he could have worry lives or assuming lying with it. Right. Load legally he's allowed to you know, I mean if delta bands pit bulls will better not allow fucking alligator still too. I mean, there's other other airlines who haven't made those strict laws like delta..

"Choose your news. I think most importantly ABC go with this needs to be a change in the law, and the probably the biggest sort of health story that you talked about there, which would be the emotional support alligator. You want to start there? I think we all right. Well, it's it's an interesting story. Your cave in Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania man, says his emotional support alligator helps him deal with his depression. Joey Henny sixty five said, his registered emotional support alligator named Wally likes to snuggle and give hugs now. I don't know how an alligator gives hugs with such little are famously small art, right, right? Reach comes from the mouth of five foot long alligator he has now received approval from the doctor that Wally is an emotional support animal. I mean, what do you mean they've received support from the doctor? What do you mean, it's registered? What is that? What are these terms mean? They mean, what did you sign up on a website? And no you went to the doctor, and he said, I don't want to go on medication for my for my depression. But my alligator makes me really happy. And if I could travel around with my alligator. I would never be lonely, and I would be fine. Look, dude, you're going to be very lonely if you're walking around with an alligator. The only person that's going to talk to you is the alligator. And when the alligators starts to talk, and you start understanding the elevator. You're beyond depression. Dude. This is one of the three or four things that would guarantee you'd be lonely. Like carrying around an alligator or walking around with alligator everywhere, you go guarantees that. No one will ever come near you. Right. So he said while he was rescued from outside Orlando, fourteen months old. He's still growing. Oh, that's good. He could be sixteen feet long one day. He said while he eats chicken wings and shares an indoor plastic pond with a smaller rescued alligator named scrappy. Wally who tune turns for this year is a big teddy bear. Yeah. I got news for you. He's an alligator. And he will eventually eat a child or or you if he thinks you tastes like chicken. Now, this is like the guy who the grizzly man documentary. Do you know that story? No. It was a guy who really he had a real connection with bears, and he would go in the woods, and he would have this these amazing interactions with bears, and he kept trying to tell people. You're scared of bears but bears are good creatures. They're good quiet loving creatures until he was filming himself was eaten by a bear. When that happened. It turned the documentary a little a little Dardar. Yeah. So this is what happens here someday. This little cute story of the emotional support. Alligator turns into the inside of his dining room looking like a slaughterhouse. And you know, what this is this is a stupid guy who just hasn't had the money or whatever to move to Florida because everywhere remember when we moved to Tampa. Okay. Everyone said at first you don't understand it. Hey, welcome to Florida, by the way, don't ever reach into a Bush here. What what do you mean? Don't reach into it. You know, there's there's ponds and water around and stuff just don't reach into any of the bushes. So if you go golfing or something, and it goes into Bush leave it there. Why? Well, because there's alligators okay. Alligators. Yeah. And some people move down, and they think alligators are fun. And so they'll go out and they'll feed them chicken. And then. You know, somebody's kid in the neighborhood is missing a few weeks later. You mean at eight. Yeah. Now, listen, here's how you run for an alligator don't run in a straight line. Wait a minute. I really having this conversation. Do you? Remember, did you have that conversation? Oh, yeah. They tell you. I don't even know if it's true. But they tell you to run ins exact zigzags. Yeah. Yeah. Don't run in a straight line from an alligator. And alligator cannot turn corners fast, but they can run straight line much faster than you don't even know if this is true doing don't don't care all I know if I was reading from an alligator, I would've attempted it true or not, right. So so one day we were driving home, and we were driving on our street just to get home. It was like a cul-de-sac and we're driving in the street, and I stopped because there is this eight foot alligator seven foot alligator that is just sunning himself across the street. So you can't drive. He was like a speed bump, and you don't want to run over the alligator. But I'm not getting out. Saying shoe shoe? So we had our cell phone, and we called the police, and we said what do we do in this situation? You gotta call animal control. Okay. Call animal control. Yeah. We don't how big is. He I don't know six seven feet. Oh, yeah. We don't pick them up until their ten feet. What do you mean? So what do I do? Well, wait until moves and we did. And we did how long did that take took about an hour. Think I mean because none of us were willing to I'm not getting out my car. It's an alligator man. So now this guy is because he loved lives up in Pennsylvania's like all these poor rescued alligators. It's a deadly animal, and it's a wild animal. You don't treat enough? It still does an alligator make a good pet. I would argue no was not a good pet. Well, as long as you always remember, it's an alligator. It's a fine. Pat. This guy doesn't remember it's an alligator he thinks it's a snugly toy. And if this guy comes on an airplane, dude. I'm sorry. If that's your emotionally support. You know, what you need to stay off this plane 'cause you are nuts, and you have no judgement. You're not going to be able to open the door. If this thing goes down. So you certainly are not sitting in an exit. I'll you're not sitting in an exit seat because you're never going to be able to open the door. Second of all the only way that alligators getting onto a plane with me is if you make it into luggage, and then he does a briefcase. Whatever other than that. If it's not carrying your clothes that and getting on the plane, isn't it though, it's a bigger issue than just the emotional support alligator in that the emotional support animal is just a giant scam for people to bring their pets wherever they wanna go. Oh, I think so I mean, they're seeing this airplanes all the time people will just bring more and more of their pets. They get more and more exotic because of this bizarre cut out they have that you know there. There are people like there are people that have mental distress and have severe ailments that, you know, reportedly respond well to animals, and there's a reason to understand that that's possible. And and it has happened before. But now it's just people being like, look, you get registered, and my understanding of the registering process of this is anybody can read there's no official process. He just go and get it registered from anybody who says they registered, and then you can say I have a registered emotional support animal, and then because these airlines and other places have been like well for people who really need them. Maybe we could make exceptions. Well, it's registered. I guess we have to let them on this becoming. More and more of a problem because you know, ninety percent of the stuff is just nonsense people like their pets. They wanna bring them on planes. So we have we have canines, and they're registered protection animals, and so they have to wear the vast, and they have an actual, tag, a license and everything else. And I think there is a place for like, I know a lot of people who are soldiers PTSD works for them. And I don't care if you have a registered dog as your your emotional support. But I think you're right. I think people who carry them around in purses a long time and they carry them around in purses because they couldn't get a bigger dog. Because then they couldn't take them everywhere are now just getting a dog and go. Oh, yeah. This is my emotional support. Really is it and beyond that even if it is. And it's your dog. Okay. If it's your cat, and I eight cats. Okay. An alligator no. That's emotionally distressing. Everyone else around you like the the overall.

Do they have that dysfunctional family that he felt he needed to do this? Or is he just that? No not far thinking because that's not. I don't wanna see my parents. I know what I'll do a call in a bomb threat. Right. No, casual always happens. Right. Yeah. No, the yeah. We've been we've been joking about PSA's shows today. Here's a PSA don't call in a bomb threat. Yeah. Also, he could have been so many other things to avoid seen his parents. You know, like, I'm sick or I don't know left. I don't know. Maybe they could discuss whatever things were bothering. I really don't like I said how dysfunctional is. Are they terrible parents and he didn't want to see them or they just or was he just annoyed with them. Because that's what happens. Sometimes I don't know the answer to this. I I don't know. I mean, I feel like if it's just like, oh and clean my room. And they don't want them to see that's some serious consequences for just not wanting to face the consequences of your parents and your ultimate prison consequence. You're also twenty three you're still young you're old enough to know. A little bit better. I would hope I would hope interesting. I mean, apparently he didn't because he called his credit. How? Maybe maybe that'll be the bright side bones. Young man. It's the breaking point maybe. Going on to our next story. This is one that is pretty encouraging. This is about a man who has a emotional support. Alligator what you know, he's from Pennsylvania, and he says his emotional support alligator helps them deal with his depression. And this is sixty five year old Joey Henny of York haven, and he has a registered emotional support animal or his alligator named Wally. And he says that while he likes to snuggle and give hugs despite being a five foot long reptile. Okay. So many questions first off in this may be silly too. But it's Pennsylvania that value. There's got to be cold all the time. Probably that doesn't seem fair then move this while the hugs. Maybe maybe that's why he's and then I just don't quite understand. How did that even come about was he just a pet, and then he realized that he was snugly? I mean, I have bearded dragons and don't think about sort of snuggle with they're also much much much much smaller. Yeah. This is and they can't pretty big eat me. Yeah. I mean, exactly I have been bitten once but not bad. Didn't try no just you know, this is very different. And I'm not aware of any other emotional support alligator besides Wally. But apparently the this man Henny he received approval from his doctor..

"Happy Monday to you. John mcginnis with your NewsRadio K hope having a great day. Thanks again to everybody who came out Friday for the big event, the back of the badge of it was wonderful. Thank you to you miss kitty for being out there. And thanks for so many good folks here KPFK that made it an extraordinary event, and of course, to the public who really truly stepped up in a big way and the law enforcement personnel who are out there. It was an extraordinary, and I have to include the the the auto dealerships, the Roseville auto mall, and of course, reliable Cadillac Buick GMC not only did they give up a big swath of their geography to accommodate us the president thereof actually made a rather significant financial contribution to the cause as well. So thank you everybody for that. It was a wonderful day extraordinarily successful that and iheart me. Just a great job. Very very well done. Now. But there's a whole lot of things. I want to get into the the L A teachers strike that went on and talk about. Yeah. And you may be surprised at my in houses on that. And where I would like to see a true victory take place, and I don't think a dead give you a little hint there. But I also want to talk about a story that kind of I think represents where we are as a society. How things have gotten very very very interesting, and that has to do with they Pennsylvania man, who has an emotional support pet which you know, I think a lot of pets are emotional support for people, and I think that's fine and dandy. But there are degrees to which the rest of society has to accept or accommodate some of these emotional support pets, and I find that to be a little bit improper. So there's a man in York haven, Pennsylvania by the name of Joey Henny sixty five years of age, and he has struggled with depression as some anxiety and other mental health issues, but he has a registered emotional support animal. Name Wally who likes to snuggle, give them hugs. And that's all very comforting to Joey his owner handler the York haven man says he received approval from his doctor to use Wally as his emotional support animal after not wanting to go on medication for depression. And I think that's always a good a good goal to stay out the medication because I truly believe that in every medicine there's a bit of poison. So he said I had Wally when I came home from treatment and was around him. It was okay said every time I was random I felt great. And my doctor know about walling and figuring it worked. So why not? Wally is a rescue pet. I always liked the idea of animals being a rescue. And I think they can be very very good pets. Wally to was a rescue pet from outside Orlando at just fourteen months of age, Mr. Henny says the tour inseparable and says wall, he's like a teddy bear he's done a bear though. That'd be crazy. But he's like a teddy bear the cold blooded reptile. That's what he is a cold blooded reptile. You say Wally is an alligator is an alligator he's five feet long, and he likes to rest his snout on hanney's, and he likes to to give hugs the alligator has never been any one. And as even afraid of cats, according to any, and they acknowledged that Wally is still a dangerous animal and could probably tear his arm off. Yeah. I would eliminate strike the term probably he could absolutely tears off season said he has never personally been afraid of the alligator hanney's background and also any case level of comfort with creatures like Wally because he hosted a television show called Joey Joey hanney's outdoors on ESPN outdoors from nineteen eighty nine to two thousand. That's all according to the New York daily record Henny frequently takes Wally out for meeting. Greets a places like senior centers and minor league baseball games. He says he's just like a dog. He told a woman at a recent outing at senior center. Said he just wants to be loved and petted. Well, there is a big difference between wallet alligator and a dog. And quite honestly. Prudence indicates dictates that a person even around a dog and domestic dogs for the most part, I think are wonderful pets, and they're they've been known as as man's best friend for generations. And I think that's all well and good. But you still have to have a healthy dose of skepticism around any kind of an animal because you just never know when something may trigger a reaction in them that that becomes violent. So depending upon the breed and size and strength of the dog. I think people are wise and prudent to have that Halley healthy sense of of concern skepticism when you're in the presence of a wild animal or animal when it comes to an alligator, I think there's it it goes so far beyond that. So the questions I have by the way, this guy has a another smaller alligator, and he keeps them both in a in a home Paul, and they splash around and frolic together and their pictures of him, which I'll try to get posted here hugging the alligator. And I don't doubt it's been. In a good experience, thus far, and it may be forever. But if this animal. We're to react in a in a different sort of a way to some kind of stimuli that will cause him to be fearful he is going to predictably do what alligators will do when they become afraid or panicked or otherwise uneasy, and they will use their powerful very very powerful jaws and teeth to separate all sorts of body parts on human beings with whom they have a contact. That's a dangerous animals. So the the the silliness associated with this goes beyond just an eccentric sixty five year old guy who loves his alligator. I I don't begrudge him that he can have it keep it indoors keep it where you can control it. And don't bring it around me. And don't bring it around the public at a at a ballgame. Or the senior citizens facility that is just a that's a terrible idea fraught with predictable horrible consequences, and he may do this forever until he and. And Wally the alligator both perish and have no negative outcome. But is it worth that risk? This animal has all its teeth powerful jaws and it still wired with the the nervous system and the strength and predisposition and tenancies of an alligator alligators have been known to to kill people and recent years them in some some horrific events at at theme parks in Florida. So the the, and I understand this one's been domesticated. And and I probably I think it's it's relatively safe bet to to predict nothing bad will happen. But if it does how bad might it be before intervention can be realized. So that's the poll question today. Do you think that we've gone too far? Do you think the idea of emotional support animals, which include an alligator is a bridge? It's too far, and you can respond. Yes. No. Or depends on the alligator. Men, by the way, for that depends on the alligator one from my way, thinking that would be the size of the alligator and much bigger than the size of the of my hand. I I don't want any part of it. It's also the topic for discussion on the airwaves at nine one six nine to one fifteen thirty or eight hundred three four fifteen thirty got a lot of things to kick around the news as well. On talk a little bit about Kamala Harris says as time permits maybe clarify some of her history. We'll talk about that a bit. And also this the big LA unified school district strike the end that has taken place, and what was actually earned through that strike. What was lost through that strike and how predictable it is that similar activity will take place in the future. And you may be surprised at how I would have liked to have seen this out more conversation coming up after this don't go away. Looks good across the top. But we are slow there..

"Where do you wanna start? You wanna start with the shutdown ended or you want to start with maybe the border wall discussion last left off. You wanna talk about? Maybe the highly covered campaign announcement rally of Senator Kamla Harris played over and over and over and infinitum where do you wanna start? Why don't we talk about something that nobody has heard of that you, and I were just discussing that had that apparently has come out via Forbes magazine, Forbes magazine is not exactly what you would. Call a bastion of liberalism. No, not at all. You got Forbes. You got the Wall Street Journal that kind of run in parallel business inside. These are these are conservative publications. Well, Forbes dot com tells us that the idea for the border wall did not spring from the brain of Donald Trump itself. Would you would you care to explain because this one's rather remark? This actually links back to Roger stone as we were discussing in the last segment, please do Roger stone and another political operative got together. They wanted to make sure that the president. Then the candidates right would have some way of remembering to stay on message some sort of mnemonic device right which they could use to say, okay. If we all. Always talk about the Walden. He will know to talk about immigration in this particular way, pneumonic device is something like if you are trying to remember an actor will tell you this. If you are trying to remember your lines and something you remember a specific word or phrase that sticks out in a monologue. And that way, you know, what comes before what comes after it. Okay. That's an automatic device. In other words, something that stands out in your mind, specifically as a a noun a strong now like say, oh, it's like a reminder on our phone pretty much, right? Exact this was my take away from the Arctic. Yeah. That the border wall as it's been advertised. Yes and presented right is not something that has ever been a part of the Donald Trump's psyche or ideology none whatsoever. This is this is sprung well sprung out of his brain relatively recently in reality. The last thing that Don. Donald trump. The businessman would ever want would be curtailing illegal immigrants working in his businesses as they have polish construction workers were illegal immigrants in New York and undocumented immigrants from Guatemala, and from the Caribbean in his resort all of whom now have been giving their walking papers and booted out ceremoniously in the last month, you're aware of absolutely what what bothers me. The most is surreal this for the most part. This is public information since that you can get back in look into the history of Donald Trump the businessman. Illegal immigration was never on his radar. No, unless it was part of the labor pool. Yes. Yeah. They're good hired four dollars an hour. But his business philosophy has been rather consistent views about Iraq. And also, our international issues that has been relatively consistent. They have been, but as far as illegal immigration idea of a wall from what I read here. It's completely a figment of political imagination was a creation that came out of the brain of Roger stone. And Roger stone understands the psyche of the American right-winger about as well as any human being who has ever lived Roger understands that there is a strain of xenophobia. That has always existed in this country as sort of. In a fraternity. What do they do? They hate you. Okay. That every ethnic group that wants to come to America generally in a wave either from eastern Europe, or from the Caribbean or from Central America or from China or Korea or Jewish people are Muslims or whatever have to go through this hazing ritual where they live in the poorest neighborhoods and take the lowest jobs and have to suffer the slings and arrows of those who have been here before them, generally, white Anglo, Saxon Protestants to wit, Roger stone. Okay. So he understands look this is part of American heritage in its own weird perverse sort of way, I understand the psyche of people who want to shut down our borders and to keep America looking a certain way as long as possible. Skipped one thing. What did they is? Also, a part of American political messaging. From the southern strategy Iraq on on down. That has always been a familiar trope, which has been used within American political shore message, you find a an other and other in quotes that significantly frightens a large part of the electorate makes them into something bigger than they actually are. And you've got a winner as Lee at water could have told you, okay? As per Willie Horton, who coincidentally, I know. Yeah. So, you know, that's that's how it works. I wonder though, even though we can talk history we can say that this is nothing new and this is more of the same. Sure. I don't know if our country is going to be any different after President Trump because we have this influx of democratic would be candidates for president and their messaging is very different than two thousand sixteen that much is clear. Oh, sure. But I don't know if you need them can win. I'm being very serious. How do you figure? They can't. I don't believe I believe that the Democrats eat their young. And I believe they just washing the different responses from democratic insiders parsing, the Kamla Harris speech today, and they're already picking her apart. Sure to the detriment of the party, right? And the Republicans haven't said anything, so I see that to say the Democrats are their own worst. Other Republicans are already starting in honor a as per her alleged extramarital affair with the former mayor of San Francisco Willie Brown when she was twenty nine. Was sixty you know, that's that's came out on Fox News. The thing is is on the issue of extramarital affairs. And and and president. I don't wanna hear it. Yeah. You can't you can't you can't use that anymore. That's gone, okay. On the issue of her purity as a prosecutor or that she took a twenty five hundred dollar contribution from Steven Mnuchin and refused to go after his one West Bank. She's fair game for this stuff. She's fair game for this. She has to answer this. I I have heard her defend herself on this. And she's okay. But the fact is is that as of now on this Sunday at the end of January two thousand nineteen she is the democratic party's most attractive, not physically. But most of that too. What most attractive candidate? Okay. Yeah. She's a Senator from the largest state in the country. She is very forceful. She is excellent. Or too strong. Exactly, very tough and debate. If I was Donald Trump, I would not be looking forward to debating Kamala Harris that's deaf. That's something. He'd have probably does not want to do. However, it is true as a prosecutor, and as somebody who could have gone after banks with more energy that she then she did. Although she didn't end up getting kicked California to'real record is going to be scrutinized different quadrants of society, African Americans are angry at her for her prosecution here history. A lot of people are mad at her for her lack of Bank prosecution. Her whole a little not seeking the death penalty for the cop killer, right? All of that to be scrutinized. And I think all of that is fair game. I want you to pause right there. Because talk about some of these other would be candidates when we come back because there are about maybe ten of them ninety in fact, you and I are the only ones not running for president.
