"At 25 and 55 powered by Red River, technology decisions aren't black and white. Think red. We've got Diane Roberts hello Diane. Let me just tell you that in the caps are playing out of their minds. They're up four, nothing on the Blackhawks, a nice welcome back for John Carlson, who tallied 6 and a half minutes on the ice in the first period of his return to the team he's been out three months after suffering a serious head injury in a game before Christmas. Nick dowd scored a minute, 27 into the second period. That made it three one, then Nicholas backstrom scored the fourth goal. So like I said, it's for nothing right now. 16 NCAA men's teams hoping to advance to the elite 8, fourth seeded Yukon is up right now. Last check it was 46, 29, on 8th seeded Arkansas. They were at the half. And the number 7 Michigan state and Kansas state that game is the one to watch tonight. Joey Hauser is 18 points for the Spartans. Chianti Johnson also 18 for the wildcats and just a quick check on that score. If I can get that for you, that is 46 29 and last check that was a halftime score. NFL sent out a memo today reminding teams they can only negotiate with Lamar Jackson himself since he isn't represented by a certified agent, the league warned teams that a man who is uncertified by the NFLPA might be contacting teams on behalf of Jackson and that is not kosher as they say. "Are back at Chrysler center, where Michigan state was all tied up with Michigan in 72 in the last 90 seconds or so. The wolverines went on a 12 O run to win it 84 to 72. And this is a farm bureau insurance firm postgame show, farm bureau insurance is Michigan's insurance company. Boya was right there. 11 times 9 lead changes. If you're looking for a photo finish, not knowing which way it might go, and at the end of the day, it was not that. As Michigan made the plays coming down the stretch and the Spartans just couldn't make a basket. Yeah, I mean, this game was tied at 72 with only a few minutes to go and actually with a minute 54 to go if you can believe that and Michigan just made all the winning plays and it was a desperation three by buckin that got it started for them and Michigan state just never recovered. Well it's now time for us to pick our 38 metro Detroit chippy dealer Spartan player of the game. You know, it's always tough in a loss because sometimes even though a guy has nice numbers, you don't like the way he played. I hate to say that, but I'm going with Joey Howard. A lot of us with 20 points, 6 is 13 shooting three O 7 from three 5 and 5 from the free throw line didn't miss their only had four rebounds, but did that all in 36 minutes and Joey Howard now for the third game in a row has scored 20 or more, so Joey Hauser, my player of the game. And I agree. So Hauser's hazards are a guy, man, it's amazing. 22, 22 times he's been a double digits. And you know, he gets, he gets the best defender on him, every game. Right. So he does. Then they run a lot of guys at him, so just needed a little more, a little more. By the way, he put it in D and C why Chevy drives a motor city visit, Chevy. Detroit dot com. We have some good news. You ready? Yeah, let's do it. Catch calendar, your little calculator going. We made a lot of threes. Yep. Let's not check out the boot law from beyond the arc totals of today's game. Every time we make a three, the approval from donates 25 bucks are the greater Lansing food bank. So what do we got? We made 7, so it's going to be a $175. Let's go ahead. That's really good. We're going to top 10,000 total. Because every time the women's

"Wide open doll up. So that's a 19 foul for Michigan third on Rachel Joyce there for the one plus. And so far on this game, he's been there three times, they're taking shots, I should say. He's made all of them. These leaders in minutes right now are 33. Big free throws breaks in both were tied. Here comes the first one. Nothing but that. One more coming in. Joey has 19 points. And the three times Michigan state has been in the one on one situation they've made the front end of that one on one every time. Three 13 left. Joey shoots for the time. Nothing but not for Joey Hauser. Hauser's got 20 and we are tied now. I think maybe we're not tight. I got his tied at 69. There we go. There you go. Waiting for him to put it up on the border. Three O 8 to go in the game. Here comes mcdaniel. Mcdaniel dribbling around. Now it goes over there to baker. I might there off you in the ball downloaded Dickinson and they try to set up down low rebounds knocked away shots up. And it goes in and as high. It is not a good free throw shirt and you got to prevent him from getting that ball up and in critical defense of mistake there by the Spartans. Walker. Monica soko picks up a foul walker almost knocked that thing away. Now for the third time this year. So hall comes in. MSU has gone small. At the line now for the free throws Reed. He is one for four. Here comes the shot and off the glass and in. He's got a Michigan enjoys a 3.7269 lead under proving on the game. Oh, wouldn't a long ball be sweet right now. It'd be nice. Walker with him. Good thing around in the backcourt. Black ticket. Now it goes over the house or back to walk for ten in the shot clock. Ron what's going on right now? Walker's still griddling. Cry, he'll try a three. He got it. We're tied to 72. The defense by baker was really good, but a big shot by walker. 11 for walker. How big is that? It's big. Two 15 to go. 72 all. McGann you were the basketball down low goes to read. Read working on Joey. Gives it up on the side wide open for three ball and it's an air ball fired by Joey baker goes out of bounds who gets it, Matt. Well, Joey Hauser was boxing out, but he was boxing out with his back, turned to the basket, and went off Joey's back. It'll be Michigan ball. So ten seconds on the shot clock for the Wolverine. That did not hit the rim. Mcdaniel to flip it in and he does even in the backcourt comes over there to buff, and watkin shot clock at 5. He'll force a three. Oh my goodness, you got it. Wow. And Tyson walker was right there. Unbelievable shot by Buffy. Michigan 75 as we said 7 two one 43 to go. We talked about a great shot. The desperation time, that was one. Here's joy Hauser back and then. Bank shot away shot his block by Reed balls roose, Michigan's got it. And there's a couple big plays coming down this road to the Wolverine with one 25 to go. And now I'm gonna shoot the best of Fenty team at Big Ten play. Need to stop big time. On Tom Miz's asthma this player is the foul Reed if he gets the ball. When the ball right now, mcdaniel. The Dickinson four three ball and Dickinson just. Narrowed it. Timeout mission mistake. We got one O 5 ago. Nobody came out of the guard even hunters are pretty good label tutor at 41% coming in. And now it's Michigan. 78 Michigan state 72. And I sure has been on the dry spells as it will brings up gone on a 6 zero run in the last 49 seconds. Meanwhile, MA shoe is only made two of its last ten shots. Yeah, the really that desperation three by pumpkin, this is a killer. And Dickinson, who hasn't made a three all game, of course, makes that one. He's not one of three for the game, but I guess the other day you give missing the credit for hitting the big shots. There's still one O 5 left. The Michigan state now no doubt a little desperate. That'll be interesting to see what coaches will come up with. Number necessarily need a three coming out of the time off, but you have to go quickly. Got to go quick. One over 5 left. A 5 point Michigan lead. Well, you're making a comeback, a lot of good things gotta happen, especially when you don't have much time left. Yeah, and I haven't really been down much in this game, having been down by this much this game, so much can stay, no doubt it's tough. We've got to look at your best players right now to step out. Number three ball by busking, you can't argue that defense on that wedding each fires because he was out of time in a win in. And somehow Dickens had just got lost. Got lost, pick and rolls, good ball movement by the wolverines and fully call with a little slow coming up. So he's got a haul houser. Walker. Hogarth. Jamaicans. That's a 5 right now for Tom is on this stage. 1 o'clock it goes. Got a hustle. Walker will bring it up. Cross the timeline. One minute to go. Down 5. Darker still dribbling. Here comes a three ball off the back of the iron no. Rebound comes out to Joey baker of Michigan. And now the MSG's got a foul and that's what akins does. We'll be Doug mcdaniel. Not a bad free throw shooter at 77%. Mcdaniel three out of four in this game. 48.1 seconds left. Wolverines later by 5. This game has been tied 11 times. See the freshman does here. First shots away. Good. So now he's tied to career high, but we still got a two possession game. No, we don't. One more time, Machado, good

"With the short timeout Spartans missed a shot reads at the free throw line to shoot two in the first one is no good. As he was found going to the basket. One more coming for Reed a 6 ten freshman out of St. Louis. Not the best free throw shooter. No, and so far in this one, he's won for three, but having a big game on the boards with 9 already for Michigan. So he's going to take his seat. Blake all comes back in. One more camera for Reed, Chad is away. It's way off the mark. And Dickinson tries to tip it back to his teammates in the backcourt, but he tips it to his mate Tom the bench. So unless you will get it back. Time has a lobbying, some down there, man. Well, he's trying to get a lobby for Dickinson over the back. So I don't blame him Dickinson went right over the top of hall looked like four 19 to go, Spartan debacle trailing 67 65. Looks like Michigan's back to the man. Hogarth, go right down the lane, mister land, but the rebound followers grew by Joey Hauser. He's got 18 man and we're tied at 67. Big time rebound by Joey. We needed that. Under four to go in this game. Spartans led by three of the break 36 33. Now we're tired in 67. Alpine Doug McDaniels played great here tonight. The freshman point guard dribbling around. 6 in the shot clock pass to Dickinson. It's him and Malik hall. Here you spinning move hop off the glass and in. Family call trying to get up into the beautiful move there by Dickinson. I was a good one. Michigan by two again 69 67 three 30 lap. Here comes MSU out front of the ball. Hogarth being guarded by buskin. In the wing and Walther passed on the three. Now goes out to Malay car. He's working on Dickinson down low. Shot his block. Now bounds Michigan state. We'll get a back but only 7 on the shot. Surprise Malik hall passed on the three. Tried to go to the rim but didn't get the call. The walker had one too. Don't forget to presenting sponsor as rock and mortgage. Official mortgage provider of mission state athletics. While we have three 13 to go on his basketball game, Michigan leads Michigan state 69 67, we got 7 on the shot clock, so what do you think? Fast and shoot, maybe two passes in two. More coach Montgomery talked about it with me at half that may have to have better plays out of the timeout, so we'll see what they do, but they're really trying to set up Tyson walker a lot in these plays coming starting underneath the basket and coming off a screen into the corner. If he gets a pass like that, I'd like to see him take him because we know he likes to hit big shots. Michigan state is lucky right now to only be down by two 69 67. As a responsible and made one of the last 8 shots taken that one see what happens. Yeah, that one was an offensive rebound we just saw by Joey Hauser. So the offense has definitely sputtered here in the last couple of minutes, so I still like to see it Tyson walker jump shot or something going towards the basket, but this can stay it's gone small. Michigan big so Michigan has those big defenders down low. Well Joey's been the top score 18.6 11 from the field three out of 6 and three point range. You talked about walker a little bit off 8 points, Oprah three from long range, so he is due and Malik calls having the best game in a while. Since his two sabbaticals because of injuries, he's good for 14, Matt, 6 of 11 from the field, not bad. At least 22 minutes. So, but at the end of the day, we know walker knows how to make big shots. He's made him. Same could be said for a saint could be said for everybody. Tom is or puts on the floor. Probably call his only taking three shots in this half only has two points. So while I say that, you know, he's the kind of guy that a senior and experienced player who I don't mind having take that shot. In terms of fouls, nobody's at four, but Monte Sissoko. In terms of filing for Michigan, they have bobkin Scott three and Cheddar's got three. They're in pretty good shape when it comes to that. In the three foul category walkers got three promiscuous got three. And so that's a way that looks. But in the end of the day, you got to make shots, got to make shots, got to try to get to the free throw line if you don't, and knock them down, really big difference in the game right now. Mischief say it's dominated every category, but made free throws, Michigan has ten made free throws Michigan state only 7. So in a tight ball game, that makes up a lot. As Michigan leads by two. Dickinson's come to life in the second happy has 11 points. 24 times he's done that, but he made a couple of huge free throws in early on, great play from Doug mcdaniel, the point guard in Michigan. He's now sitting at 16.3 times score. And not in the game is jet Howard who injured his ankle early in the second half. So at the end of the day with Howard being out, he's our second leading score in a great shooter. So to be interesting to see what Michigan does, when they get the ball again, the first things first, MSU needs a buck at the time this thing. 69 67 with three 13 to go.

"And we're going as a bony session. And then, yeah, Kentucky plays shorthanded once she boy winds up once he winds up fouling out, and that's going to limit them significantly. What were your thoughts on what you saw from or didn't see from calcium? Well, I'm with you. I thought Kentucky should have won the game in regulation and then should have won the game at the end of the first overtime and both times. Tom is after the game gave credit to his assistance, and I don't want to totally disregard that. But like Tom is those fingerprints were all over that. And for them to get two out of bounds plays that result in dunks to tie the game and send it to an extra period is outrageous. The first one was hilarious, 'cause you're right. She weighed just, he just messed up. I don't know if you saw it. I tweeted it. He's walking back toward the Kentucky bench and Cal. You know, Cal will lose his mind on players. I mean, call him MF and P's and everything else. Like, it's all been called on camera. Cal just sort of calmly looked at Oscar and just said, why did you do that? It was hilarious. And then lessons of coaching right there. Why did you do that? Why did you do that? And then the out of bounds play where they went full court at the end of the first overtime was just terrific, and that was just well designed. Malik hall did make a nice play. If you pause it when he catches the ball on the wing, he fakes it, he just so slightly fakes it to the corner to get that guy to bite and then he had a clear lane to the rim and dunk and now we're headed to a second over time. And after the game, you know, Tom was asked about it. He credited his assistance, and he was like, sure, I just said, hey, let's go dunk the damn ball. I really like dunks. So he downplayed the role he played in that, but he clearly played a role in that as coaches do on the other side John calipari said, hey, on this out of bound stuff, you know, that late game situations that's on me. And so I'm sure Kentucky fans like I wrote, we'll have a good time with that. On the message board. The truth is Kentucky is way more talented than Michigan state. But Michigan state, just they stayed in it the whole time. And when she weighed fouled out, obviously Kentucky was really up against it. And I don't think it's a stretch to suggest that the Spartans going through what they went through Friday night against one of the very best teams in the country helped them, you know, succeed in similar tight, stressful, high stakes, late game situations against Kentucky. It's not the only reason you play these types of games, but among the reasons you play these types of games is so that the prepare you for the next big game. And Michigan state look prepared. Comfortable in the moment and that is, again, not the only reason they were able to win, but certainly on the list of things that led to them winning. Shouldn't have been surprised by this game being close, 8 of the past 9 times sporty and big blue nation have squared off 8 of the past 9. Games have been decided either by single digits or the game has gone to overtime. So as would be expected with two Hall of Fame coaches, their teams kind of play up to the moment, or at least play each other close there. For Michigan state, you know, the Tyson walker to Marius ahsoka connection could be a bit of a game changer there. They had, they had a lob to make it 78 76 late in the game. It was Michigan state's first lead since it was 52 51. She boy wasn't on the floor when that happened. And then they had another one to clinch it late. Same exact battery, if you will, walker to soko. So soko had 16 and 8 and three steals. When we call had a 20 point Joey Hauser, by the way, not a quiet 23 and ten, but I will say, and I mentioned this on the Sunday pod I guess when we were talking about the Gonzaga mission state game, they have to get production out of Joey Hauser to be Big Ten contenders. To be able to be a team that you would regard as top 5 in your rankings. And they did get that tonight, which was very, very helpful. But to me, Sissoko has been, I've seen him play two games, basically. He's been my favorite player through 8 days of the season. Just the leap he has been able to make. I think it is a game changer. You know, I thought he'd be better. I didn't know if he'd be this. And we'll see how much he can be consistent and keep going with it. But man, oh man, talk about what might be a little bit of a mini revelation there because he wasn't expected to be Michigan state's best player. He might not even be Michigan state's best player, but getting, you know, he's 11 to 17 from the field at this point in the season that 64.7%. He's drawing contact playing well through it, rebounding well at both ends there. And you know, he's been on the floor for 60% of Michigan states minutes through three games there two in one with the one loss by one point against Gonzaga. Really good gains here for Sparta and I don't want to completely redo the segment that we had before on the previous show because we mentioned, you know, is always scheduled up. But my takeaway is this, yes, the wind over Kentucky is important no matter what, but

"Super impressive people. And so to answer your question, I don't know if we need to keep playing outside, but I do like building games for Veterans Day around or in military settings. Because it exposes people, even like me, who otherwise would never be exposed to this stuff, and man, you walk away with a really nice appreciation for it. Like, listen, I'm not the guy flying the American flag out in my front yard, you know? But you spend a couple of days on a campus and you have a real appreciation for what's going on there. Yeah, at West Point it's an amazing spot. I've been there a couple of times, caught some army games up there, really, really cool. And on the college football side, it's considered even, it's army, so they're never exactly in contention to make the CFP or anything like that. But it is regarded by many folks who have been there to be among the very best places to ever spend in October on November afternoon because the views are incredible and all the pageantry that goes around it. Last thoughts on this game, Michigan state wise. Maddie Sissoko, okay. Maybe we got something here. 14 points. He's probably going to be the name to emerge on the scene, which isn't to say that would be the best player. But he fouled out in a 63 game with a minute 51 to go. After Hauser, Joey Hauser was a non factor just abused by Timmy and I'll save thoughts on hazard. Let's see what he does champions classic wise. I thought Sissoko's play was big. And then you probably got a little bit of a stat line that I would expect if you're an NSU fan. For many a game going forward, Tyson walker at 12, AJ Hogarth had 12 Malik hall had 11 in addition to soko 14. Yes, you want more from Hauser. You want to eventually J nakens to really get all the way back to be more of an impact player. Jackson Kohler is going to take a little bit of time there. But all things considered, yeah, Gonzaga didn't hold a lead in this game for more than half of it. They finally got it back. And then, you know, with strasser and Timmy just kind of working in out and out. They really had something going there. Because throughout there can shoot, he can drive, he can dish. When I watched him play, I thought he definitely looks better than he looked 7 months ago. We'll see if that can continue for MSU. We'll get to the next game later on in the pod. You wish you would have had it. So it's now the only coach in history to be owned to on an aircraft carrier, but it's a designation that he will probably be weirdly proud of because he's given his program that opportunity twice. One last thing and then we'll move on just on Michigan state. As you mentioned, you know, up next for Michigan state is a game with Kentucky in the champions classic. And Tom is a really has scheduled incredibly aggressively once again. Like, check out what the Spartans could be dealing with in their next 6 games. Tuesday against Kentucky and Indianapolis. Then Friday against Villanova at home. Thanksgiving against Alabama in Portland. Then either you kind of Oregon in Portland, then either North Carolina, Villanova, Iowa state, or Portland, in Portland. So in the first 21 days of the season, Michigan state could really end up playing number one North Carolina, number two Gonzaga, number four Kentucky, number 16 Villanova, number 20 Alabama, and either number 21 Oregon or soon to be ranked could very easily be ranked Yukon. That could be and likely will be 6 of Michigan state's first 7 games. And that's why Tom izzo is a scheduling idol to be admired. Or a psychopath. I don't blame him for it, and also by the way, we are going to get to him. He said, Villanova and Oregon, we'll get to them because that might not look as daunting right now as it did 72 hours ago. So Tom is though, Nate Smith memorial Hall of Famer. He has incredible job security. I get it. That helps. But Tom also understands that the number of wins you get in a college basketball regular season doesn't really matter. It's not number of wins that matter. It's quality of wins. This isn't the NBA where if you finish with 56 wins, you're gonna be seated better than a team with 55, no matter what. In college basketball, the context of your wins and losses matter. It's all about quality wins and quality losses. So rather than play a bunch of uninteresting games that only matter if you lose them, Tom is a routinely challenges his teams in the non league. I think it's good for Michigan state. I know it's good for the sport. And I wish more coaches at his level would follow that lead. When it comes to building non league schedules, because too often we don't get enough great teams challenging themselves, especially great teams from great conferences, challenging themselves a lot in the non league portion of the schedule. And boy, when you look at Michigan states likely first 7 games, it's filled with high profile games. So that's Michigan state. We got a surprise upset on Sunday, but we're going to keep it in the state of Michigan. What are we hitting on next GP? Imani Bates debuted eastern Michigan was another big headline for the weekend. We're going to spend a few minutes on that next.

"Interesting because a little bit different. I talked about, though they didn't play top 25 competition, but some of the competition that they did play against with regard to LSU. I just don't see that with Texas a and M so it's hard for me to latch on to even any of their metrics because I don't feel like they played against anybody. Yeah, I saw him in Maui in the Vegas Maui tournament and I was impressed with the way they defended and the way they're capable of defending. They can turn the heat up and force turnovers and turn defense into offense, which I think they have to do. They're not I don't look at the aggies as a really gifted, scoring team. They can score, but I don't think they're incredibly gifted on the offensive end. If that makes sense. So I think they're a tournament level team. But I think they need to continue to get better in half court offense to be an upper upper level SEC team. I think they're going to take some, they're going to take some lumps in the league because the SEC is just so damn good. New year's resolutions for teams. Some things that for the new year, certain teams just have to have to get better at or improve it if they're going to continue to make that next jump. I'm going to start off. UNC, they need an alpha. They need a guy that when they're not making shots can bring those guys together and get a bit dig down, get a stop, get a big rebound play harder, player lead teams, we always talk about it better than coach led teams and no one's more competitive Uber. We all know that. That's why he's had the career he's had. But if they're going to be as good as potentially they can be, like, I look at their team and I say, their resolution is someone's got to step up in that locker room and coach the locker room. Does that make any sense and just give them a toughness that they need to compete when things aren't going when things aren't easy? So that's my first one on my resolution. I know what you guys think about that. I like it. And I think Caleb love is probably that guy because he's got the ball in his hands the most. So I would say he's the one who's voice and action needs to maybe rise up to where the team needs to be. And I think he's fully capable of doing that. I would go, my new year's resolution would be for Michigan state. And it would be two resolutions. One, to continue to take care of the ball as they have, the last few games with the development of Tyson walker because he's now the guard that we thought he would be at the beginning. And it's taken him a little while to get here, but that's okay. There's not a timetable on this. But he's been very good. And Michigan state has been better with the ball, which was, I think, for our little trio here of bald guys, was our biggest concern for them. And then the next would be Joey Hauser getting back to being Joey housing, that look, none of us know what players are really going through individually or collectively. These journeys are hard, especially through a lot of the things that players have to deal with now and the challenges that we have as a society. But I haven't seen Joey Hauser beat Joey Hauser yet. And if he can be what what he's capable of being and I don't see any reason why he can't, that's another step on the ladder for Michigan state to be a legit contender. And I think they can be. Yeah, I would agree that they can be a legit contender. As far as resolutions are concerned, I have it's kind of a resolution in the sadness at the same time. She said, I thought it was a second weekend team. Plus, then all of a sudden, Sherman Mark goes out for the entire year with the shoulder injury. Marcus sasser is out with a toe injury. So you're talking about a combined 28 points a game that they've got to figure out how to replace. We know they're going to continue to defend. We know they're going to continue to be terrific offensive rebounding team. But as I look at that team, Kyler Edwards and tase Moore have more pressure on them now to be able to produce on the offensive end having lost.

"For all these teams, I think it's awesome, but it is hard when Michigan states got some unproven feasts and some freshman plan and their talented max Christie is really talented. Yes. But we were talking yesterday. He just kind of blended it. And honestly, when you look at their roster for Michigan state, he needs to be a star. I really think he need 'cause you have like Joey Hauser. Marcus Bingham gave Brown. What we saw from Tyson walker, they're really good in their roles. But I'm looking at this and at times they're throwing the ball into Marcus Bingham and like as if he's shack. And he's gotten better, but I just don't feel like that's a sustainable way to beat good teams. What is with that with that group rob, what do you do? What is the number one option? Because Tyson walker wasn't good and you can tell. AJ Hogarth was pretty good. He pushed the ball, he did some good things. You know, Malik hall was where you go with you. I have before the game I would have said, it's gonna have to be max Christie. Because I watched the exhibition game and he looked really good and you read some of the stuff that Tom has always put out about how he thinks he's gonna be a star and I mean, all the recruiting stuff and he's got the tools. There's no doubt. And for a freshman you get thrown into that atmosphere and now, I mean, the duke freshman did, and they look pretty exactly. But I just think that I look at their team and I'm like, they are missing a cassius Winston. And if you had a guy like that, and then you put these guys around him? They'd be great. But they are missing right now and maybe mass Christie grows into that. But they're missing a star. Whereas I feel like the other elite teams in college basketball, they have one. Michigan state to me looked like the 7th best team in the big town. You know, like maybe they finished a little better, you know, maybe it's joking, can work it so they finish 5th or 6, but to me, when you watch them, you just said, unless max Chris Christie, all of a sudden becomes an alpha dog, which I don't think that happens overnight. That'll take time. Maybe, you know, by Big Ten play, he'll be better. Right. And I will say it is not fair for us to judge Tyson walker off of one game under she gets 2000 the first half and you're thrown into the biggest game of New York..

"It was weird about types of walker, though, because he was more like this table setting point guard in high school and on the grassroots circuit. And I thought, you know what? Probably like an a ten level guy at the time, and then he crushed it, northeastern the average 19 points per game. And I thought, I didn't be a scout text me during the game. I'm like, Tyson got swallowed up out there. It was weird because she had two points. He was one for three shooting and I looked it up because I'm like, this is not his game in college. That's the second fewest attempts in his career. The only time with fewer was two years ago, if I had 5 minutes with one shot against Drake, I'm guessing he got injured because he played 5 minutes. And there just had been so much press and positivity about him being the best player in practice and how good it was going to be. So I don't know if it was the New York thing. I don't know if you just got swallowed up with the size of the Kansas guards, but just didn't look like himself out there. Yeah, I don't think it was like I didn't think Remy played like incredible defense on him because for the most part, they slotted remi on him into one Harris on max Christie because Harris is like a little bit more of a bulldog at the point of attack, and they probably thought that that would bother Christie a little bit more. And to an extent, I think they were proven right, but the thing about Michigan states approach to this game that I hated was Kansas switches a lot of screens, right? They don't switch every screen like they don't get McCormick out away from the rim all that often if they can help it. Control it. But they switch a lot off the ball one through four. They switch on the ball a lot one through four. I don't understand why they weren't trying to find more mismatches involving guys like gay Brown attacking a small guy. Joey Hauser attacking max Kristi attacking smaller guys. I thought that one time they got Malik hall on a mismatch against Christian Brown on the block and Malik got a good look. You just got called for a foul. If I remember correctly..

"Like, I never. Ever. Said, wrote, tweeted, nothing. That Mike Woodson could not recruit. Never said it. In fact, I've never commented on Mike Woodson's ability to recruit. Positively or negatively. Ever. It's never happened. Never said anything about it. I don't know where this comes from. Unless they get me mixed up with somebody else. You got Mandela affected. That's what happened. They thought, you know what the Mandela effect is, right? Unfamiliar. It's where you think something happened, but it never actually happened. It stems from Nelson Mandela and people thought that he was, I believe if he was dead or whatever. But it's like when I tell you, by the way. I know. He is now, but at the time it really did happen. Yes. I must have been there. There was a movie in the 1990s that had Shaquille O'Neal in it. And he was a Genie. What was the name of that movie? I only watch blue chips. Okay. Was it Shazam? You just Mandela affected your own self. It was not Shazam, but everyone thinks it was Shazam. Okay. It was kazaam, but if you Google Mandela effect, people will think the name of that movie was Shazam. How about that? I just did it to myself right now. Yes, did it to yourself. It's where you're acting like an Indiana fan, right? So you have been Mandela affected into the IU fan base and here's the thing. Once this happens, it's hard to escape. I don't know if you're ever going to be able to run this with the IU fan base. They're always going to just accuse you of just wild. I swear to God, I spent about 20 minutes one day going back trying to look. I was like, did I do something? I went look, 'cause you know, me, I don't remember everything. And I was like, I couldn't find any evidence that I've ever because I didn't think I'd ever. Here's what I did do. I did question whether it was smart spend all that money to fire archer Miller. Given what he might have brought back and given the money and given the fact that, you know, they finished it was not a good team, I'm not trying to lie to you, but they didn't finish terribly in the computer rankings, right? There was some evidence to suggest that maybe if you just do this another year, it could just flip. I did wonder whether it was smart to do that. I'll cop the alcot. And by the way, we still don't know. I mean, we'll see. So far so good for Mike Woods, and I can acknowledge that. But we'll see. But what's Mike Woodson was hired? There's not like a Gary Paris column out there blasting the higher or a tweet or anything. Or questioning whether he can recruit just didn't happen. But I swear to God, I'll hear Indiana's a finalist for some player. And internally, I'm like, man, I hope they don't get that guy. They're coming for you. 'cause they're coming for me if they die for you. So good. So pass this along to the Indiana fans. I have never questioned Mike Woodson's ability to recruit. If somebody did, tweet them, leave me at them. So funny, man. All right, you got them 7. Michigan state you got a head. Here's the deal man. Max Chris is getting a ton of buzz, and because of all this, I mean, I've been told that he should be the best player on that roster. I put him in my top 100. I put him in gay Brown in there. Max Chris gay Brown, then you got Joey house and what will he call Marcus Bingham junior Tyson walker transfer from northeastern? They've got enough there. That is, that's got to be I think that's got to be a better team than what they wound up being last season obviously. It was one of the weaker seasons under the past 2025 years under Tom izzo. But overall, I just think I like Indiana's roster a little bit more. If you want to take MSU, I'm not going to, I'm not going to go crazy over that. I think that's completely reasonable to be honest when you consider how long it has been doing it. Since just stepping into D one coaching here for the first time. But man, it's just if max Christie, this freshman is going to be better than Caleb Houston, say at Michigan, is he going to be the best freshman in the league? How much is that going to matter in a league with a ton of bigs and a ton of veterans? I don't know. I'm intrigued to see how Michigan state does its thing this year because to be honest, I'm waiting on the gay Brown pop to happen. I'm waiting on the Malik hall pop to happen. I'm waiting on the Marcus Bingham junior pop tap, and they just haven't and Joey Hauser was good, but is he gonna be more of what they hoped he would be? And he kind of felt a little bit short last season. So there's just a lot of unanswered questions for MSU for me. Yeah, so either way we've got the top 7 in different orders, but we got the same top 7 schools. And then after that, it gets a little bit of a mixed bag. I've got Rutgers 8. Okay, but did you like the computers hate Rutgers for some reason? I'm not concerned about the computers. Rutgers is 67th at Ken pom and 59th at torvik. That's 11th in the Big Ten at kum and tenth in the Big Ten at tour of it. Meantime, Steve pike was publicly stating, this is going to be his best team ever. Well, I don't know if we want to take too much stock in fatty there. I mean, what coach isn't low? What coach doesn't believe that they're going to have their best team second best team third best team ever at this time of the year? It's nothing but optimism and Pauline outlooks left and right. Now, pike will actually, I think could be correct. But there's a difference between saying, I really like my team and this will be my best team ever. Go just don't often say that. True. Got Ron Harper junior back. Geo baker. Ron Harper junior, one of the best mean mugs in all of college basketball. We love it, right? I love Rutgers. Okay. Look, I love I love that Steve took a Big Ten job that is considered impossible, but you just can't pass it up if you're ham. And, you know, at some point, it's like, let's just take the money, you know? And we'll do our best. And he's turned it into like a respectable basketball. I like Rutgers being respectable and basketball is cool. I like that. It's a fun plot development for us having to cover the sport around every day around the year. So I do like it they got heartburn geo baker who just missed out on my top 101 list, but he certainly could prove to be in that group cliff O maru will be one of the biggest year over year improvements..

"Like I didn't think he was legit six-foot-eight, but I've heard from people now telling me like he's legitimately that big and he shoots 43% from 3. That's always going to get you looks at Joey Hauser just has not had the kind of year that we thought Howser was going to have them going against them. Josh Langford just had a ton of injury issues. He's been a little bit better later this year Marcus Bingham has a lot of tools but has not put together any of those tools yet wage. UCLA is Johnny juzang being a Hyper Elite shooter who has not really knocked down shots thus far in his career at the level commensurate with what we expected. It's I mean, I see their best Prospect. I think he is right. Maybe maybe I'm a jacquez. You could say 38% from 3 to kind of does a little bit of everything for UCLA life pseudo post up, you know, great gap for UCLA. Like I think we'll probably be like a third-team All-American by the time he's a senior but not a not like a pro Laden wrong or weirdly. No butter Campbell's been really good and and he was another kid rank really highly as like a middle school player then tapered off a little bit and he committed a few places decommitted ends up used to buy a ring off but he's been good there. I mean, he's LED them through injuries to season and got him to the tournament. Really. Yeah going to Texas real quick, Texas has Greg Brown and Kai Jones job. Leslie both of whom have a real shot to go in the first round. What do we think of Kai Jones finished to the year? I don't really know what to make of it to you. I thought you asked for Greg Brown's finish the year. No, I don't. I don't need to make sure that either think ties still just like the flashes guy. Like when he that possession I think last game taken off the rim calling coast to coast and finishing and then I think hit a three at the top of the key like three possessions away. Maybe less I'd just like man if he does that every year like we're really every game. I'm sorry. We're talking legitimate top ten guy. He might be top ten guy anyway, because people hope that they can get their thoughts Greg Brown weird finish to the year. Like Craig Brown is not one of their five best players right now. We want to I mean, I think he played six minutes in that championship game. He had like the the blow up at the end of the game before calling her photograph Shaka smart. They think he benched him to start the game. So it is to do with with that. Yes, we have expectations here, but it does have to do with that it won without them so you're right mean birth. And Greg weren't even really playing down the stretch for a lot of games. But now I'm I'm I want to see kind of what the rotation looks like in the tournament. Yeah, I mean Greg Brown Nineteen Minutes combined in his last two games because of that little blow up that's not a great sign going into the NCAA tournament. I hope that he figures it out the two guys that Texas should be excited about our Matt Coleman and Jericho Sims. How long have you heard some of the Jericho Sims excitement. So who's your halftime guests were gonna be with associate head coach Dean Fife here in 17.8 seconds and Yes. Oh, it's so Dana will join us never would have the Blue moon halftime report with Donald Keller back in the studios. Well, so far the top score for Michigan State with six Enjoy Hauser back to back long balls, one for him. Our job rebounding. My car was six Rocket watch. Got a couple assist on the guy's playing good as he always does. It seems like of late is AH, trade beyond Williams having a pretty good first half. He's got 12 points so far, six and nine shooting four rebounds. But the big thing that we will watch will be the personal fouls. Williams has to And his back up, Edie, He has three. So they have nobody behind those, too. Yes, so it Zlata of a lot of guards on the floor. Here is a zoo. Michigan State four guards. Plus Molly call. Probably gonna be switching five here in the last 15 seconds. Purdue doesn't have a center on the floor themselves Ivy with the basketball out front. Eight seconds left in the half. He's out front top the circle and we got a whistle before anybody shoots. It's gonna be a hold on AJ Hoge guard off the ball. Well, that's his second and that's attempt team found so that makes you was playing pretty smooth, but the last couple of minutes men little Rocky and shooting a couple free throws from the Boilermakers will be Erin Wheeler, and he's not a very good free throw shooter 40. 4%. He's only attempted nine all year. He's four out of nine. So won't be attempt four and 5.5 of the Boilermakers there. One out of three shot is away and it is no good. Well, neither ball club in this first half of put out a video on free throw shooting. They want and potentially hold guard might have found the right guy here is is Wheeler. Mrs. The first here comes the second one. And he makes that one. And so with that it is now the Boilermakers 30, Michigan State's got 27 5. Seconds left. Here comes Rocket Watts top of circle. He fires any missed. So we have come to the end of Ah! A pretty up and down first half of both follow Bubs as the home Boilermakers produce last 30 and Michigan State has 27 now time for halftime interview. As always, it's presented by the Abboud Law firm. So take it away there, Mr Kevin? Yeah. Looks like we're here with the associate head coach Duane Stevens and DJ You were able to do a really good job on produced guards, all of seven from from from the three only Aleve. Points on the perimeter for the first half of Purdue taking care of their guards, not so much the guys inside. You know, those guys were able to post deep and Williams had 12 points and we got eliminate some of the deep seals that he's getting. You've done a pretty good job on the backboard, especially on the defensive side. Plus six on the boards overall, produced only three offensive rebounds and know that they had one on that free throw late, But you've got to be pleased so far with the defense of rebounding. Yeah, The defensive rebound has been great. You know, we were upset about the block out of the free throw because we feel like that that cost us the game at home, and that's we worked on it. And that's unacceptable. We got do a better job on the free throw cut out, You're able to get the offense flowing Joey Hauser with back to back threes, They're late in the first half toe kind of put Michigan State back out back out in front. What do you see an offensively You know what? We just got to move the ball and we got to do a better job of rolling. We did get some them in a little bit about trouble, eh? So we just got to keep their big guys moving and and working on both ends. Sounds good. Appreciate it, DJ. We'll go back to will team And so there you go. Have time interview is always brought to you by the boot law firm. Well, 30 27 is your score. What do you think? Kevin, Michigan safe, really Fortunate T B in a dogfight here is doing a good job on the defensive side, Aziz DJ pointed out the interior defense has been a little bit of a struggle. Is 80 and Williams of combined for 18 points on nine of 15 from the field, but but on the offensive side, considering that the Spartans are only shooting 36% from the field to only be trailing by by three that there's a lot of good, there are only five turnovers that that's some good there. So so the effort stats. The hustle. Stats have been there so far. So we got 20 more minutes ago on the flip side. Don't shelter with a halftime report right here. "What do you have a half time and we'll be talking with associate head coach to win Stevens. Okay, By the way, let's not go by the numbers with the MSU Federal credit Union. You got a number? Well, not one number, but the shooting for Michigan State right now. 12 of 28 from the field 43%. That number's actually come up. For the Spartans. But if you're looking at one number and one I'll talk to doing about at halftime is 16 points in the paint by the spark. That's a big major chunk of their offense. I like that number. I want to get a stocks on. It certainly got one or two between now and a half time from the side and Henry will flip in information State Spartans eating the same 29 22 minutes ago. Boston lawyer at the point trying to little two main game with Bingham can comes out the house for three. Got it. That's good. Feeling for Joey. Enjoy house who couldn't get a single point against the brasses Got nine already. With times any one of the getting going, boys. He got him going. I was big on the lead again, his 10 30 to 22 as Penn State wants to talk about it. Well, they're discussing the exes knows. Don't forget. After a tough workout athletes reach for a cold glass of chocolate milk with high quality protein and carbs proven to refuel and rebuilt muscles. Milk means more than argh approved by the Michigan Dairy Market Program Committee. Did they say? Nobody thinks you're first question's gonna be? Well, I always like to get the coaches thoughts, No question about it. But the team defense has been just terrific limiting Then states on. Lee won three. It's so far in this one. I'm gonna ask him how he feels, And obviously it's got to feel good about it A lot of things to ask only six turnovers so far in this one. That's a great thing so far, So I don't think we have enough time to ask all these questions. Dog hopes that I need more time. We're time we're time. Here we go. Benson has a basketball Sam inside from being guarded by rock. And once he's checked in from issue 35 seconds in the half 18 on the shot clock, So I'm guessing running down to about 10 and see. Then come up with something. 10. Seconds on the shot clock. Here comes the play. Sand was dribbling around in guards highly by rocket. He's gonna take him down. Lois stepped back to good. That was a top shot by Sammons and with 13. Nine seconds to go. They have stopped the clock but tough shot by Simmons. Great defense. Why Rock and Watson give Simmons a lot of credit, but they're stopping it because Simmons and what's got tied up and coaches a really adamant over there on the sideline. He wanted to fall on Simmons, and they wipe it before a little bit so shot clock got to have left in the half meaning seconds. Here comes rocket blocks across the timeline Rockets still looking for his first points so far this evening, dribbling, dribbling two seconds. And the ball's knocked away. There will be no final shot. So we've come to the end of the first half of play in East Lansing, and it's Michigan State. 32 on Penn State's got 24. Don't forget a halftime interview. His eyes is being presented by the football firm on Coach Stephens is getting a place mat. Sounds good. We'll coach Stephens got an eight point lead. You played some terrific team defense. I want to talk to you about that. But what do your thoughts so far in the first half way, gave us the late three right there into the half. A heck of a shot by that kid way played. It is actually how we wanted to play it. Defensively. We have no nothing. Nothing to complain about. You know, Offensively, I thought we missed a couple of tough shots. And I thought we took a couple bam ones, so just clean up our offense a little bit screaming. Little better. Maybe get some looks in transition. I don't think they're transition. Defense was great. You have the 16 points in the paint Your fence stake. Kind of took away. Your three's a little bit. Are you where you're trying to go inside was at a point of focus before the game. Yeah, For sure. We're way felt like we could get inside and get some easy looks and give them credit. They have the best three point defense in the league s o. They do they do a good job of running you off. Off the line, but I thought our guys, we moved the ball and then don't turn the ball over. We'll get great. Looks. Coaches talked about getting Joey Hauser get going in this 19 points. He made that three there near the end. That's gotta feel good. How are you gonna get joy Hauser More involved in the second half. You know, Joey came in. He did a heck of a job for us. When he gets open looks, he's just gotta take those shots. Hey, was aggressive. You look a lot more confident. That's the Slayer. We want to see every night. All right. Good stuff. The way we appreciate your time. Good luck in the second half, and by the way, trust and honesty isn't just the best policy to boot law firm. It is the only policy of football. They're there to help you, man. What do you think we'll have a good first half. I love the energy. I love their defense. Michigan State really playing team defense. The rebounding was excellent, so and yet they continue to do those things play hard on defense. But I agree with coach even if they could get some easy baskets in transition that could really build on this league. I think they get a win here this afternoon in East Lansing, and so if the halftime break, it's miss you Stay 32. "It's a new day. And we now welcome MSU, associate athletic director, among many, many other titles, Kevin Pal Gah, from Iowa City. How we Doing Good to be with you, Dalton. Yeah, That's me Tuesday. Happy Tuesday to you as well. We've gotten kind of used to this now, three games in a row. We've had you on to break down the keys to the game as we get ready for some more big 10 basketball up for this one. Let's start things off on the Michigan State side. Of course, the Spartans in the last two games since that 20 day pause because it go over 19 and had some struggles is a fair way to put it on the offensive side of the ball. What? Condemn issue due to kind of break that in tonight? Yes. So there was some improvement. Certainly Sunday in Columbus at Ohio State, Relative T the offensive side of the ball. I thought that Michigan State did a better job of getting the ball inside, particularly to Joey Hauser and Aaron Henry meant and one of the one of the things Tiki Pin mind tonight is that Iowa has struggled a little bit on the defensive side. So so hopefully Michigan State's able toe create some better shots and improve that those the shot selection and and some of it admittedly, is Rutgers in Ohio State. Both are particularly strong on the on the defensive side. So look for some continued. We post touches. Bye Bye. Aaron and Joey on Is that a possibility or an opportunity for Michigan State tonight? Toe out, Let it get it running and maybe get some easy looks to get some confidence and momentum going. Yeah, it is. And you and I will definitely get up and down. You will be referenced the Iowa Illinois game last Friday. It was a fantastic game, really a toss up game that Illinois was able to To come out on top. But but both of those teams hung with each other on the offensive side, uh, really kind of kind of kind of showed how valuable some of their some of their interior guys in particular were so It's something that Michigan State can certainly look to push the ball, create toe create some of those some of those openings in transition and maybe even get a get A few more open looks tonight. Kevin. It's also interesting. We got to hear from head coach Tom Izzo just a little bit ago that there will be some changes and in the starting lineup and still kind of messing around with the rotations a little bit as he's still just trying to figure out at this point in the season. What's what you kind of have with team. How does that affect things tonight? You know what I think that it's fair to state that this team is still trying to find a rotation and.

It goes for Walker near the midline through Jell O, and now Walker between the circles straight on off to Ladell mid post backing in shoves in Walker, an elbow and a shot at stores for Ladell for to EJ Ladell with a couple of points to make it a 14 point game. Michigan State has to help off job so he's one for 17 all year. You cannot let Ladell be isolated. Michigan State basketball wants a jump feed toe. Hauser tries to drive tiptoeing into the lane now spins it. Five. His shot is good off the healing through on a bounce for a house her to make it 48 36 Joey Hauser in the game has 11 you've got a mismatch with CJ Walker just bullied over. He'd do it and he did it, and it was beautiful. So now Ohio State basketball. Walker's clutching between the circles dribbling around skidding, and he finds shallow, who passes off to the right wing again for Walker for Ohio State through suing a 25 ft away off to Jonah in the corner, now suing top of the key of foot baking a shot for three in the air and no good hanging off the rim. Rebound for Kip here. Michigan State down 12, Throwing ahead of left wing swoop is batted in the air, and it's taken away by Walker for Ohio State. On the flip trip, right to left straight down the middle of Layne Walker is fouled on the way through the paint. And it goes against Michigan State of 13 54 to go in half number two here in Henry was on the fly. Looked like something good was gonna happen, but he just left his feet threw.

Little over half court and can aren't student right from him. Now house there in the left corner bounces it in off the front iron. Joey Hauser got the old Glynco bounce and it's 66. Two minutes 15 seconds is that's huge Joy Hauser needs to get going. In fact, everybody in black Michigan state needs to get going offensively after 37 the other night at a whistle on our first foul down low, Rob put him in with the college, joined by Larry Score, Otto and Kelly fight for by the way, Tom Izzo knows you have to guard an orange. He coached the brother. They both can shoot. Well, just in arms has been injured. Justin ARNs think about Duncan Robinson 37 of his 38. He puts on the turbo jets and drives to floated up from five and Mrs No. Rebound is deflected out of bounds by Ladell who never secured it.
