Aaron Boone's Bullpen Decisions Don't Make Any Sense

"Like the managerial stuff in that sense is insane to me. We can talk about moving Joey Gallo to the two hole when he did earlier in the week and last week when it was just clearly not. I don't know how you do that. When he's the worst hitter on the team, laboratories is the worst player on this team. I'll just have to say that. It's just so by far. And then the pitching decisions I'll quickly go through. It's the bullpen. Look, you need your man. Your team top to bottom is going to do this. Not as bad as the Yankees are doing it. But your team is not going to be clicking and you're going to need some help in the form of the guy running the club. The guy who's executive decisions can sway the momentum of a game or can save the team can stop the bleeding at any point or can save the team from themselves and Aaron Boone continually does not do that. The Yankees the Yankees have Luis heel on the mound on Wednesday. Was he looking good? No, was he was he looking bad? No, he was wild. He issued 7 walks in that one. He finally ended up giving up his first runs of the season because of Aaron Boone's decision. But he'll walk he got one out. He walked two batters and then boom leaves him in for another batter. What do you think's gonna happen? He has no control. So instead of taking him out there and having the bullpen home, we're at the game, we're standing there at the game looking at the bullpen. There's nobody going in the bullpen. Louis seal is missing the strike zone. Batter after batter after batter, then file they're like we're at the game. There's like four guys up in the Jays bowl. Yeah. Just like stretching. Yeah. Hey, in case you need me coach I'll be ready. Yankees bullpen, like the bullpen catcher's throwing balls to people in the

"But I mean, it's a simple task at hand. If you want to see the Yankees in the playoffs, if that's even something you want to see. If things don't change and the Yankees just tread water for the next few weeks, then no, I really don't watch a one game wild card against the Boston Red Sox or Blue Jays, or I guess a's or maybe I would watch a one game wild card against America. That's the only one I was deeply watch. Because if the Mariners beat us, I would give them a golf plan. I would go. Enjoy the raise. That would be fun for you. Any of the other teams that'd be very frustrated. So I just need to see it. I need to know what the next few weeks look like. If this Yankees team looks exactly the same on September 30th, as they do now and they're like a game or two games up on a playoff spot or tied or then, you know, I will be emotionally divorced from the proceedings. If they look better and are able to pull away a little bit, great, I'll be excited if they hold serve and status quo that it is hard to be pumped and you start mentally calculating, you know, if the Blue Jays are surpass us, is worse things in the world than the blue days get hosting the Red Sox in Toronto or whatnot. The one gamer. An embarrassing way to think and not how any Yankee fan should be thinking following a 13 game winning streak, but I tell you what, I'm dangerously close and the Gerrit Cole game on Tuesday night might determine my mental course of action. "As much power as he does and fields as well as he does is still a good baseball player regardless of the ugliness and garish nature of some of his line scores. I get it. That said, there's no more defending 2021 second half Joey Gallo, who's now performing like one of the worst trade deadline acquisitions in Yankees history. It's hard to be worse. He's hitting one 30. He has 61 strikeouts in 35 games with the Yankees. He's the second player in the history of baseball to have 60 plus strikeouts in his first 35 games with a franchise. The other was Javier Baez, who did it for the cubs as a rookie in 2014. Joey Gallo is a good baseball player. Joey Gallo has been impossibly bad since joining the Yankees outside of a few showcase moments. The home run in Chicago, wonderful, the home run against Seattle, great, that only gets out in like two ballparks, still great. And the home run against the Orioles the other day that ended up tying a king and then a rolled his Chapman gave away one of many unconscionable losses for this team down the stretch. So again, this isn't Joey Gallo's a bad player in the age you shouldn't have acquired him. This is just the reality that Joey Gallo and the two hole has not helped. He's diversified the lineup. You know, if I showed you a photocopy of the lineup with a lefty on the side you would go, oh neato, but he has provided next to nothing. Like, you know, he's helped John Carlos stand in Aaron judge, I'm sure, but Gallo himself has been one of the worst trade deadline acquisitions. This team has ever made. And he has time to turn that around, but as of now, that is factual. Yeah, and it's confounding because he's missing fastballs, middle middle. And nothing adds up here. He's inside of a line. He's in he's in the best lineup he's ever been in in his entire career, no ranger scheme was better than probably any iteration of the Yankees any version of the Yankees since 2015 or yeah, you made his he didn't have his first full season until 2017. So definitely not. And he's just he just doesn't once again doesn't the guy who does not look comfortable. And it goes on, it's on par with the Yankees storyline for the 2021 season just a lot of inexplicable things that make no sense that can not be there really, they can not be described, there's no rhyme or reason to it. It's just it's just bad stuff that's happening to certain people for really no reason whatsoever. Like you said, 61 strikeouts in a 123 at bats. So I understand the plate appearances are a thing is a 151 151 plate appearances, but dude, that's a 40% strikeout rate still. Again, you can tell me all you want about how valuable Gallo as a player is if he's hitting for monster power and taking walks and striking out. I of course understand that. He's not hitting for monster power. So what is this? This is bad. Yeah, it's really bad. And I understand he brings value in other ways, the defense his versatility on defense helps. His lefty bat helps. But the whole reason he was the Yankees knew what they were bringing him in for..

"But take games, which is why Jonathan, the wiser guy is hurt, which is why you think Chad green fails and clutch situations because he's had 58 high leverage appearances this season already, and he's failed in 7 of them. So it's felt like a coin flip because you've watched a lot of public failures because it seems can't pull away no matter the opponent. So this is why we have situations like Jack Mayfield up with the bases loaded in an angels game, and of course he hits a Grand Slam. Any other team would be able to get Jack Mayfield to pop out bases loaded two out for Jack Mayfield is not a nerve wracking situation. Unless you're the 2021 Yankees, where you let your opponent back into the game no matter who that opponent is. And no matter how strong that opponent is, and no matter what picture you have phasing that. So it probably should have been more of a red flag during the 13 game winning streak that some of these wins were wandy Peralta getting Freddie Freeman with the bases loaded in Atlanta after coming back from a three one count. Or the Yankees blowing a 6 nothing lead behind Jameson Taiwan in Oakland, only to age out the as in the later innings. They were getting all of the karma brings. And that's very impressive. But they certainly weren't dominating these games. There were a few that felt efficient top to bottom and where the offense was picking up opportunities. The game, the first game in Atlanta stands out as one during that win street where I was like, wow, the ages took on the hottest human baseball and efficiently destroyed them. They got out of jams when they had to. They rarely face them. And they didn't have that many run scoring opportunities and they scored one or two runs every time they had guys on base. That was impressive. But far too many of those wins involved monster rally killing strikeouts, horrible offensive performances. I'm talking about the first coal Anaheim angels game where they won like two one or three two. I think it was two one and basically everything was first and second, no out strike out, double play. Like that game was terrible. They won it. I'm glad they did. I like wins. I'm glad they.

The Yankees Are Regressing Back to Their Early Season Inconsistencies

"Did we really get ahead of ourselves with that 13 game win streak? I certainly didn't. I don't think you did either. We felt good. We certainly like to expose some of the old critiques that we had or the greater part of the fan base had to kind of live in the positivity and the optimism for a moment. But I think we knew that things would be coming crashing down to earth at some point. But then again, we also didn't think it'd be coming crashing back down to earth like this, but this is this is the 2021 New York IG that we have been talking about for however, long we've been doing this since the start of the season. This is the April to mid July Yankees that have tortured fans that have failed to produce that have not met expectations that have not gotten hits and clutch situations that have laid down when the game was out of their reach for their standards. And now we're back at that. Losers of 7 of the last 9 against largely inferior opponents and really pissing away the positioning that they gave themselves. I understand that look, were they going to keep winning? Were they going to break the a's consecutive wins record? Absolutely not. But we also didn't think that winning 13 straight would come with losing 7 of 9 to kind of just, you know, 15 and 7 doesn't really sound that good after you've won 13 trade. It kind of just sounds like you had house money, you took advantage of the house money and then you lost your savings account. And that's really what it feels like here. And I just don't understand why this is happening still. So this is the reason why there is a DNA slash culture problem with the Yankees because this was all happening before the trade

Will He Ever Heat Up? Diagnosing Joey Gallo's Skid Since the Trade

"The goal here with Gallo was to lengthen the lineup and diversify the lineup. Left handed bat, he gives tough at bats and he's able to give protection to other guys in the lineup. Perhaps, I mean, it not perhaps. It is certainly paved the way for John Carlos Stanton Luke Voight and Aaron judge to be on the hot treats that they are on right now. And we're thankful for that. But a lot of fans have been sitting here saying, oh, dude, when Joey Gallo heats up, forget about it. Forget about it. This team's gonna be unstoppable. But we have no evidence of him heating up. So Anthony Rizzo heated up right upon his arrival in The Bronx. Made his statement. Singlehandedly, I will go out and say single handedly won that series against one that series sweep against the Marlins. Was it colossal reason for that? That kick started the Yankees incredible run throughout the month of August. But Joey Gallo has yet to really come on. I know we have that go ahead home run against the Mariners. That was an awesome moment to signature Yankee moments since coming over on the trade. But since then, he's grounded into three double plays. In four games, he didn't three double plays before, so it was Saturday Sunday Monday and Tuesday. Over the course of those four games, he grounded into three double plays. He grounded into three double plays in his previous 95 games with the rangers. What how does this how does this even happen? Before that, he grounded into 8 double plays in his previous 346 games. So bad luck, sure, but like, what? When is this gonna stop? So my question is and my doomsday question because I love asking these because I like seeing people freak out. This is just how my brain operates guys. When do we start worrying about this

"That. So, look, guys, Yankees, winners of 13 of the last 15. 21 and 6 in the month of August. They have 6 games coming up against two inferior teams. There's no reason to be down on this team, even though the offense didn't look great these last two nights, even though the bullpen let us down last night. It's going to happen. Losses, I understand, you feel invincible after those first few games after the first few games in Oakland because you staved off Oakland's wild comeback wild 6 O come back in that opener. And then you win the second game handily with just with an offensive explosion. Great. That's not gonna happen every night. We just won 13 in a row, enjoy it back in the playoff picture. People are feeling good. Let's keep the positive vibes going. "This is really shaping up to be one of the craziest seasons in recent memory for the Yankees. Nobody saw this type of turnaround. Nobody saw this team being galvanized to this extent. Nobody saw the rotation being this good. And the great part about it all is that, yeah, the Yankees did need that kind of fire from Aaron Boone earlier this year when they weren't performing. But guess what? We'll take it at any point. You got to remember guys, Aaron Boone underwent heart surgery before this even started. I'm sure he was still taking time to recover. I'm sure he was still taking time to kind of find his bearings and find that passion deep within him to really get the team excited, go out there and look, he's say what you want about Aaron Boone. He's defended his guys in most spots. I know the beginning of this year. It's kind of been problematic because it's been a lot of defending players who have been underperforming. And it's been a lot of excuses. I think the famous one was baseball is hard. We heard that one earlier in the year. Yeah, we know it's hard. But for as much as you want to criticize Boolean, I know a lot of people don't like them. He's got his players backs. And it was clear last night. It was good that he didn't allow that situation to dictate the game. He nipped it in the bud. I know the strike. The strike zone definitely improved after that. But you don't want to be the manager standing in the dugout watching this kind of let this garbage strike zone continue for the entire game. He saw enough in the second inning. He was fed up. He went out there. He led his voice be heard, got ejected. Everyone gets pumped. And this is the kind of stuff that you need. And guess what? Why not like the team on fire during an 11 game win

I'm going to give the green light to my man Himbo, who is alongside here today as always proud member of the Hashtag crew and my VP of baseball Analytics as the first shoe dropped yesterday, and it dropped in the Bronx, Joey Gallo, acquired by the New York Yankees, and we spent so much time wondering, well, the Yankees by could they possibly sell? Is it worth mortgaging up a significant chunk of your future to try and rescue this season, and they answered that in an enormous way yesterday? Joey Gallo might very well be the biggest name that is traded at the trade deadline of the Yankees landed him Now I view this as a massive risk, but I do view it as a risk worth taking. Here's what I mean. The reason it's a massive risk is because Joey Gallo is a 2 11 career hitter. He bedded 1 81 last year and in theory, what the Yankees should have been looking to do is add some diversity to their lineup to add players. You don't just walk, strikeout or hit home runs, and he is the very definition of the three true outcome player. But the reason it's a risk worth taking is that there's a lot more to Joey Gallo, of course. And that he's one of the more prolific home run hitters we've ever seen. He's an outstanding outfielder. He's actually the best outfielder in baseball this season by defensive runs saved. He has a lot of value as a base runner, and, most importantly, for the Yankees. He's a left handed hitter. They needed a left handed hitter to occupy the middle of that order, and amongst all the names that will be, you know, flying around over the next day or two. He's probably the best left hand about that was going to go. The Yankees got him without giving up any of their top 10 prospects.

"A lot of stuff is coming out next. Twenty four hours. Everyone buckled down. Be ready There will be more traits. Cashman's making another trait they wouldn't have made the gala thing where the ranger paying twenty one twenty twenty one if they weren't cooking something else. Cashman is very aggressive right now. It's the most aggressive. He's been quite which is ironic too because this is the worst situation worse shape. The team's been that's probably wise out to be the most aggressive. I get it but like say it would suck if they make all these moves and then they stole missed. Yes yeah i would say so with that. One thousand percent agree with that We still we just need that pitcher We need to. Because i if i have to hear about we severino throwing a fucking no cancer and you look good today. I know i keep seeing all this shit stone service in game. He's throwing this. he's close. I think. I think his next thing will be a relapse. I just today next halley somerset. Fuck yeah w. a healthy severino kluber september. But i'm not. I'm not letting myself even thinking about bill investor and towns but it's taiwan and montgomery grays which i mean. Yeah they're nine album. Sudden got eight pitch. We have too many pastors. Don't even need barrios. But barry will be sick. Burials would be that would be if yankees barrios. Then i'm in a world series back. I could see barrows costing everything. He's twenty seven. He's got another year of control. He's good gotta be what the luke void talks about like. Maybe with you would be like void. Clark medina faulk. I don't do that. Medina's hot i don't know if i did. After one hundred and ten. I think if it was luke void clark medina for berrios and most top. Medina's off the top of my head like a v. Three team a relief are reliever from the twins or yet maybe three. You'd have to like move money. Also medina barrio start voight. I don't know off the top of money but assume voight and barrio sur. It'd been can we get a reliever from the twins. I was just saying like if i could do that for reliever. I don't want that taxi driver. Tyler tuffy three point two. Oh we are a good. I don't want to stop the guy. If we're getting rid of louis clark schmidt i would assume that cashman would be demanding like if if i'm if i was a big. We're getting a loss. Yeah boy you have schmidt and medina for berrios. And tyler dalton. Sorry i'm thinking i'm doing that. I'm getting rid of those three at one time. Jay not one of those. Three people have done chip for the yankees season. Like luke voice played like he's just great last season but is looking strictly this season. You're giving up three guys. I'm done anything for an bonafide frontline store and a really good relief. I do think the way that they're talking to people in it. Seems like they're involved in every single trade rumor at this point like cashman is trying to gm for his job right now. So i guess. I could see them going out for broke and being like that is a good where this is what has been might be thinking like if i don't make the playoffs here the way he made the gala trade and then like immediately this morning. Every single trade rumor mentioned the yankees. It seem like a haven yankees. Were considering moving forward to clear salary room as jack. Curry reported can't do arguing clear forever. Well i mean they coincide to the trade but it would include. Trevor story pulpit. What's five million right now. I think what gets five. I'm not treating luke toy for trevor store. I mean i don't. I and i'm not saying it's one out but if the ultimate goal is to replace luke void driver story. I don't want to do. I don't think we should have burials. Because i think which shirts we're going to the padres seven million this year when shirt jersey on the padres as long as that actually zero six point one million this year so that sends the dodgers into a. We gotta go get somebody right now especially if our pitchers again this year dot tmz report. The dodgers teammates. Don't want him back ever good stuff as they shouldn't fucking scumbags the picture of him hiking with lugo on sex shirtless with like a strap. Weird spoke in judge of character. We one of our only like hits when we talk. I'm just twitter search trevor. Story there's tweet. Dan clark who isn't the best and clark. No no no no. It's it isn't actually good tweet. That's why i'm surprised. Goes if trevor. Bauer never played professional baseball game. His last public comment was. I can't believe it asking me about fucking angel funny. I think we should talk to him. Stop thinking about barrios. Because i don't want to get this sherzer. Padres thing should send the dodgers and giants into some sort of bidding war for him. I think the giants should be adding somebody. I mean you know i mean i don't want you know sick but if there's one guy if they're of all the people on the train all the people that have been listed as possible trademark you can't say otani who would be your dream guy russell. Westbrook the lakers. What's this shit. While their chances. They're engaged assume. that means. It's the lakers and wizards now are engaged on a transfer five. Oh okay westbrook and the lakers are. Is that even good. Though for.

"Judgment for the week till friday at four one pm and then i will judge everything we'll do. We'll do some sort of whether we hop back on the pod be alive thing or whatever an instagram liable reactor four tomorrow so apparently the pill don't have that that seems like such a classic haven tweet though like the athletic or whatever athletic segment it will. It's rosenthal said per the athletic so they're probably just trying to push their subscriptions way. You sent this a heyman tweet. Saying rosendahl broke it. Sources tell the athletic the tweeden classic heyman be like. Aw hey last call. Anyone else would offer more chris. He's like boris churches. Boris right. I think scherzer's so people are saying yeah. Ken rosenthal man. You can't tweet that if it's yes he's worth. Were you ever nervous over the last eighteen hours about gallon. Not coming to the yankees. It was like they got him was so full hours out to dinner. And this blogger from my phone. Thank you tommy for the assist with that Had i just hit published because it was reported passing. Who's the end all. Be all right if got passer pours like that's it right and then what has let's see if passan's tweeden i haven't i notifications for him. I don't think i've gotten early isn't tweeden two hours with the for bro. Play so originally we even talked with. This clark was initially in the deal. Dan federico but apparently they'd like as medical whatever switch for auto griffin soda. I don't wanna know. Now that's my guy and he still who knows where twenty now he could be gone. I know he's a popular name but he's initially in the deal and then when he was taken out and ottawa's in and i published a blog. Because i was like it's been reported by passing nova sudden. There is that we're like fuck pilot by the game ends by because it yes they were interrupts the game the same like the deal is not done but like they're still talking and it's close. They were exchange names medicals and all of a sudden and the game was pretty much done party. He'll to the lakers. This is going to be a great night. A sports traits today to laud he'll to looks like it was said with harrell. Opting lakers are able to move forward toward completing a deal to acquire kings guard healed for kacoos harrell. And i think it's not official but it seems like it's headed that way the asking me crazy. Everything pure chaos Sorry folks are all over the place. Here kosh warburg. We're thought the shirt that what before every single al's oldest. Brian cashman's wet. Well kyle poor college for the team if if cashman his tenure the yankees ends in colorado yankee then in cashless mind he's failed. I think it's unlikely because sworn gallo to me are are very similar. Left these though left the power of their big power. Lefties strikeouts walks. I mean gal definitely a much better defender than than chore they schwab. Or what has the most outfielder system a lefty in the last couple of years. But it's i feel like it's because everyone runs on him because they think he stinks and he throws like an average baltin. That's probably it. He's he's definitely gotten better out there. But i don't know we don't just know only reason like i feel a killed again. A fucking ninety hitter care how old that makes me sound. Just wanna fuck. In ninety hitter in amac scalper become to ten just to say like schwab he hits a home. Solar is bob. They goes so far. Did you see the The chart of max kepler's like Fielded outs overlaid with yankee stadium. The an pulled up on what. He just everywhere. If he was like playing a yankee stadium as whole career he have liked home runs. He would omar hit seventy extra ones. Let me i happened to my. Dm's kepler is a guy who i wanted instead of like. If you were going to calpers team control. I think kepler's under contract for a few more years yellow line is an marty. Can't see but the line is the yankee stadium outfield. So all of these are extra home. Mary fifteen jeez. The a gala wants more dramatic. The gala was insane. Oh my god but the other thing is i don't want to try to homerun every up. I do it every single back. I'd like them to be blind. That's probably why he doesn't grab the dole plays because he only folks elevating the baby. And you know what that could be awesome. He's fucking cox. Yankee stadium We got a little bit warner. Wrap up here get a predictions for the next twenty four hours before that. I wanna talk to you about our pals at paint your life. "We teach in the last hour. Oh my god forgot about that. We got by the way. There's going to be situation. You could see a bruin and talked on the broadcast. Where like alfie those collide and they lose a game because of that because they've really close. It happened with red sox. I think i think it was. The red sox game team was causing it on. That saturday i believe is working correctly. Were converging there. Whatever and they called it but yeah yeah so but there was. Yeah when you play with fifteen different outfielders in one season and they're not gonna community correct each other definitely but y- the dj always remember the crow impressive. Gary sheffield collision. Five angels playoff series in anaheim on. Why just always sticks out to me. Yeah that's probably part of it. Yeah i i didn't need that ball phone. That would have been. I would've evaporated We talked about the trump other potential trades. That are po- sesa fuck for that so That's a horrible trade by the yankees so horrible. So what's real is back. When hal talk to the media and the fans like a month ago whatever and he said that they wouldn't hesitate to go over like if they felt like he would make them a playoff team they would go over the luxury tax. You're not making that trade of justin wilson. Trade was strictly to free up. Justin wilson's money and you had to attach sesa. Who's a valuable pitcher to do that. Like it's not of type deal you. It's an inexcusable. You don't make that if you're not completely concerned about that to ten number. They're doing that. They're doing all these moves here like they had the texas rangers pay that twenty dollars gallo to avoid the to ten number so what how said it's just a lot because they're the only goal here is to stay under two ten. That was a complete light to everybody. That to trade made the yankees worse and the yankees. If they're going for it which it seems. Like if you're gonna treat for joey gallo you cannot make treats that meeker teamwork's lewis sesa as much as we used to get him and all fans used to give him he's become a very serve. I won't say he's been great. He's been very serviceable. Pretty reliable reliever for three seasons. How the one eighty warranty. I don't know known as defending him. When he was bad he was bad. So i don't think this move really got enough shit because the traded for gallo the next day so it's sort of swept it under the rug. But this is an inexcusable. On new york. Yankee like trade to give louis sesa away for nothing just to save money just to say pennies on the dollar like dot could end up. Thank you could end up losing games because of their bullpen mc. All season down the stretch when they could've used louis sesa because how wanted to save a few million dollars. That's fucking bullshit. I agree with you. Don't you think that a lot of people are just like we did that so we can get way more players like if if if we don't get another good player. I think that traits ten times. Worse i i i mean i think that is why they did it but it shouldn't be one or the other like. Why are we choosing. Oh we have to just get better you don't you could just blow past the to and keep louisa. I agree with that. I feel like that's and then i also hated the holy join john park trade. That poor guy. All he did was mash. The minor leagues got one at bat. And they shipped him up for reliever who is like a career almost six even though you're on the yankees scores thursday but that was also a crazy move. And we're gonna hear all the advanced analytics say that justice for roy. Say he should be better whatever but why will lead the league in hitting co become a very serviceable hitter in pittsburgh for elite elite hitting on the. That's another move. That just made. No i mean so. I i really like the back. Toback trades of park and sesa- to me was like brian cashman truly is no fucking idea what he's doing. I mean it's just like he house just lying to the people you can't tell me no it's not that's not cashman though. That's how telling you you can't go over to park trade unless they just wanted another reliever because they knew their trading sesa now might have been the case now. We'll say happy. Justin wilson's out of here. That fuck it sucked. What a horrific oman. God it where. He got hurt multiple times and wherever he came in. It was disaster. That fucking atrocious. Fuck fuck justin wilson. But i will say like you. You can't make these trades and tell me you're not trying to say like there's a complete objective here stay under two ten. That's the only goal here and you're making cashman work under these circumstances. What but that pissed me off that really. I wish i had more time to get mad at two years. Fending sesame right now but like no. But he's been a serviceable pitcher into just train him away for nothing to save money. It's it's ridiculous. And i mean i overall think this is actually been a not a banner week trade for the yankees like i said. I don't agree with giving up park for homes. I think that was a mistake. I would have loved to see him. Parka transfer see if he could hit. It seemed like he could in the miners for guy that all. We're going to hear about as well as other numbers should be better. He sucks every pirate. Fan says that he sucks and traded tessa for nothing to save money and thing. Joey gallo who was just another guy's strikes out a lot and whenever i mean i've owned sinker sick. He throws a sick ninety nine hour sinker like he and they think they the planet and just have them throw it a lot more. I think he was talking about fifty percents. I'm they're throwing britain ninety percents. I'm saving my.

"Here's a home run hitter. Obviously is he. The homerun swing that the yankees need to put themselves. No they need more pieces. And that's why cashman is not stopping to think he's going to get more relief. Pitcher always getting another pitch a starting pitcher and whatnot. Who knows what he's doing. But a lefty power bat to throw in the middle of these guys who gets on base almost better than anybody in baseball who is an excellent defender from the corners and can play. Centerfield could also play first base. The versatility with him. You have another team control for next year as well. The rangers are paying for twenty twenty one salary. The prospects wise. It's four top thirty guys and to top ten guys new rankings but it avoided like the big guns. They had the trailer they kept volpi schmidt. Obviously dominguez ain't going anywhere all medina. That kept him gil. I did like auto who they gave up. But all i think it's a really really good trade and if you actually go through the trade value of each guy it's like it. A lopsided trade in terms of the yankees. I'm a big fan. Yes he strikes out but he also hits fucking bombs and his outs. And you're going to keep going to produce in you guys. His out in right field in most places are going to be home. Runs yankee stadium. he's awesome. We're gonna love him. You have to deal with the strikeouts strikeout baseball. This is a new era. But you're gonna love. Joe ayala i am. I would have made the trade as well if if that was the deal. And you're presented that. You're brian cashman. I think you say yes. And so. I'm finding the yankees. Need the fact that he's having had a lefty power hitter when there's a three hundred fourteen foot short porch crazy feel does not knock door. Are you hearing skipping by the way something. A little bit happened last time and people complaining not last podcast last time we earnestly but the findings haven't left power hitter until along as insane so the yankees didn't need that they did they also didn't need another outfielder a really a gold glove outfielder. Yeah it's it's crazy that he's a good outfit. It's stunning but you'd think joey gallo big home run hitter like there's no i think he's probably a first baseman like he's gonna athletic outfield. I watched him play. I think they played. I want to say the raise whatever. It was a game. This past week and heathrow two guys and four things. Yup no he. He's got he it's less brett garner. Fats is always a good thing and the yankees did not give up really a ton of prospects. I mean knowing how well how poorly brian. catherine evaluates talent these guys will probably be all star within durant or top. Ten haver was the guy who is hitting a billion home runs to start the year for the tar. Putin's an auto. I think we'll be very good. I all four should be in the majors at some point like these are for four prospects that will hurt us at some point. We'll be like fuck as guilty ran is expected to be very player. at second base Same with josh smith so these guys are not. Nobody's right on But they're not. They're not the main guys they did not want to trade volpi who's got nuts. This year in the mind is a lot of yankees have gone nuts their minor league system when they rank these prospects and who knows who's still yet to be traded but the yankees third is going to be top five in baseball when they when they re rank all the their their and and nowadays credit that the yankees have this deform system and you can't prospect tug so yeah ya behind with the hallway gave away the only thing i said the reason. I'm not being like holy shit. Let's you know world series. And you should do that. But it's a big step. it's a it's up. put my only problem with it. He is just like a clone of so many players. The power hitter who. It's a lot of home. Runs hits for a low average and he's going to strike out a lot and i was arguing with people last night because they say oh. We gets on base walks a lot. That was the same argument We always hear they're hicks. Who cares if he gets to twenties. Ob i like higher average. I don't care if you say this means. I don't know baseball. I'm a dinosaur. I like when guys get base. It's fucking sue. I think it's important to get hit now. I know he does walk a lot. I'm just saying another to ten average that strikes out a lot in the middle of the line up. now we're going to have judge gallo stanton back to back. There could be like seven strikeouts game on their bad days. So look i'm just saying. I i would have preferred yankees to go for a higher average a contact to there. But i'm not complaining that the yankees out of the guy who was now statistically there would be like their best all categories mush with when we're going through the prospects the way my brain works for like for. Mlb trades. i. I know who. Joey galloway's those four guys right now could give a fuck so let him go what i mean. Those guys are years away from being a major so maybe maybe on quicker but yeah years. That's a future. That's a future more drafts and more international side. You said their system is very exactly. It's i'm just happy that we're doing something. It's not one of those trade deadline. There's there's the last few years have been very dry. I know when your team's not doing anything like know. I know a lot of met fans like what the fuck around talks. Mets fans are freaking out right now. At least like the red sox have been like kind of in conversations like i. I can't believe chris. Brian's not god yeah. I would be stunned. If he's i mean he's got he will. he will be gone. I thought i was saying to the metric. I thought he was definitely is going to go to the mets and i still think it happens but i'm just happy that we're doing something and it's not a it's like tommy said it is a player that we have our tired light up. But it's a lefty. I'm excited that we're trying something. Yeah right guard and really does still play. And i still utilize way into that fucking lineup. At least good outfielder right. He'd have any bad horribly. Vada catch all today. that goes a football. If he has an ounce of fraud he just retired should just retire and become like an assistant coach. Right of way. I am an interesting quote from gallo about batting average and all that read data saying before that talk about our friends at cuts cuts golden. We can't say enough about cuts. We're all the time you're going out to date you going out with your parents you hang around your apartment you wanna wear it even to the gym. It works that way. It's where allows around where to the movies where to work important meeting. You're just gonna fit in at it's just They taking the men's fashion stable. Which is the plan team they find. "I thought it was a very wild wednesday evening on yankees twitter when aaron judge's scratched from the starting lineup. Yes joey gallo is. Simultaneously scratched from the rangers lineup. And of course anytime guy get scratched and it's about to be the trade deadline. You're hug watch. That guy's you're on hogwash. Or or if you're on Who's the player for the mets. That cried your tears watch But but i just thought that was there. We had no updates until after the game. I guess they were medical testing so potentially they thought he had covert again. I have no clue really but he comes in white knight given hinch fifth inning. Yeah yeah allowed. Allowed gallo to get his shine you know. What a leader. What a leader of men right there and before we talk about the the tampa series and we did get electoral even in here as well. Okay well okay. I was gonna ask you grade grade the trade deadline. If this is all that the yankees do give a grade to To cashman i. I don't think it's going to be done. So i think there's something's going to happen so i i do believe that but the the the joey gallo trade to me if you're looking at that one in a vacuum which is kind of what we were doing. I mean that's a trade. I think it's an absolute no brainer. It's very low risk on the yankee side. You're going have to give the prospect of value. That's fine that's just the way the third they're built for that in order to do that if you don't have those prospects are all not all coming up so if you don't trade them for players that can help you right now in a window that we have to win right now. I don't know what we're doing. So i'm fine with that. Those guys they have the ability now to take on a little bit of money. So what does it so four million about four million right now i think of the of that threshold plus they have pretty significant names in the minor leagues. If they wanted to go out there and make a deal. Clark schmidt davey garcia like they still have the ability to go out there and make a splash move with some prospects if they wanted to so. He gave himself an opportunity now with a full day a full two days actually with a still on the trade deadline clock and he's got the ability to do that and make that make that next move whatever it might be so. I'm hoping that they're looking at starting pitching right now and try orbital within help because the bullpen got worse at the trade deadline. Well it depends what you're looking at. Because if you look at homes who got who got dealt over and we see justin wilson and louis obviously wilson is like chasing good taste. Homes is is basically taking louis sesa spot right like that's it. He's coming in as a when you look at his numbers overall. They're not any numbers that you would look at and be like. Oh yes sweet really excited about that guy but when you break it down and you start looking at his right hand splits They're actually very good. And when you break it down and look at all the scoreless innings that he had and you could see that. Some of these run came in bulk tea. She does look like he's got upside I think you can. You can break splits when you're looking at a relief pitcher like that. So and he's also control these at arbitration. This is a guy this is what they like doing like cashman does love doing this. Making a move for a guy. Sessa was out of options. They had to keep him on the roster. You know there was no other teams other good to be on the roster and be a contributor or they were going to get rid of him and they chose to instead of reaping with louis asa keeping him on the roster trading those guys dumping that salary getting rid of wilson and now going after a guy they gave up Park who people were trying out for some reason and cast but this is a quality reliever. If you look at the splits again thinking that he's gonna come in and and matchup against right handed bat. He is very effective against that. And now he's controlled for years rotation guys. I know you are big podcast listeners. But what's stopping you from actually grabbing the mike certain your own show. Have you thought about it. This is something that you think the world would be open to your opinions on the yankees or another team that you passionately love in the tri-state area or anywhere else. "What's up everybody. Welcome to the bronx hint show. It's a friday but it's not a friday fights. It's just a friday reaction to a god damn busy week. The yankees land. Busy week baseball man. There's a lot of. There's a lot of always traded shaking but this this this year seems extra extra special. There's a lot of things happening so it's exciting. It's fun and i. I think in the last podcast. I actually talked myself into gallo only because i talked you into yellow find. I got caught into gallo. I got talked into gallo understating the fact that it i mean. It's like absolutely a perfect fit. For what the yankees were looking for and then it ended up being even more of a perfect fit because of the way that texas was gonna take all the salary and that's surprising that's surprise me that the the package ended up going. They got four prospects. None of them were the highly ranked guys in the yankees system. Which is awesome. Because like i was like oh clark schmidt in the deal we knew. Obviously jason dominguez is not in the deal. But you never knew if like clark schmitz going. get delta's is debbie garcia. You're gonna get dealt. None of the names that i think a lotta yankees fans are very familiar with got dealt it. It almost seems like both experts on both sides are saying good deal for all. But i think the the surprising thing is that texas agreed to take all of the salary involved. Texas is paying all of route door salary playing for the yankees and now they're paying all of joey gallo and julie rodriguez's salary playing for the yankees. It's amazing i mean part of it. Great like that. The yankees were able to do this. Because obviously you're not adding salary and you're adding quality player in joey gallo but it's also pretty apparent very not willing to go over the luxury tax. No matter what i mean we. There's nothing there's nothing new about this. We absolutely there is always the caveat but there was always the caveat if the right move at the deadline is there. Will they do it. And the answer was always no no because the answer was always know because if they were willing to do it at the trade deadline then they would have done it in the off season and they would have had more opportunities. They could have strategized and been more intentional with the way they would have done it. If it was in the off season it would have been part of a plan whereas this is a lot more. Reactionary this at the end of the day. Look i mean we can knock cashman and boon for all the things that are happening this year and the makeup of the roster and yes is joey gallo. doubling down on the fact that it's another swing and miss guy. Yes it is. It's absolutely that he's a he's a bad from a left hand side he does walk a lot as on. Base percentage is good. He's a very good defender as well. Hold on the only hitter in texas lineup. though like that is one thing to point out that he okay. That's a good thing but that's a good thing because to me if he's more supported and there's guys around him that gives them protection hopefully he gets more strikes. Hopefully he's able to barrel up a little bit better too so there's a lot of depending on how you look at. It could be good. But i mean he fits a bill. He's a good outfielder who the yankees needed another outfielder and they needed the lefty bat done checkmark. Now a controlled. Like the fact that he's controlled and texas is paying for joey gallo for to be a new york. Yankee is a no brainer. When you look at the guys that we gave up the ran was the best again. This is this is from fan graphs. I tweeted this out the other night on the six. That were rumored on your. I understand there. But so the redid their rankings and updated them in the rangers organization. The ran would be number three. In the rangers organization. One twenty two overall smith is a second baseman number. Eight hobart hobart whatever. His name is number. Thirty two is second baseman and then otto who is the guy that people keep talking about is going to be number thirty eight in their organization. These are not the thirty eight in the rangers organization who had the nineteenth ranked or a minor leagues and bumped up the fifteenth according to fan graphs. After this trade. That is a middle of the pack. That is a middle of the pack farms. You versus the yankees. The yankees strengthen. Their farm system was depth and they pull some their death in order to make this move so kudos to cash in on getting that done without having to give up one of the big names. I of course if in four years from now one of these prospects for the rangers turns into a stud and joey gallo just is whatever. He is for the yankees. Then people are gonna crush cashman for. But i think we have to remember at the time. This is the a piece outfielder. I know he strikes out a lot but he's a major league affiliate an all star. This year have only one of those outfield currently so now they have to. That's a good thing. it's a good thing. No there's no doubt you're not gonna fix this lineup with one guy if you go a different way so you might as well double down on the strikes of what they are. They're gonna hit the ball hopefully and some of these guys that look. I think a lot of this also is assuming that there's going to be a a.

"I didn't realize that either until you just told me right now so he's got one in the books a run in the books. The National League had a run in the books and Max Muncie helped to keep the nationally close in the bottom of the Sixth Round Ball David League stamina right side throat. I pick it I I WANNA pick by Alonzo and an absolutely spectacular play it shallow right center field by Max Muncie. They stole a hit from Santana. Wow I talked to an evaluator recently about Max Muncie and he talked about how much he loved watching play because this guy's a ball player doesn't care where he's playing. He's always prepared. He's always he's in the moment making plays like he did write their bottom of the seventh inning. The American league had a three to one lead Troy Farkas his Guy Joey Galloway was at the Plate Smith the lefty fire field where back there and the absolute bullet off the bat the Joey Gallo Dave Roberts matches up the Joey Gallo says left on left not gonNA bother me A._l.. ADDS another and it is now Ford or at a one and that was a screamer yeah and that's after will Smith left-hander from the San Francisco giants and broadly Game Troy you man Joey Gallo hit in a rocket out here representing. It's what we do. In the All Star game foster the top of the eighth inning the nationally threatened they loaded the bases. Guess who's coming to the plate pita lots of course on Monday on the home run Derby and the one to swing a line drive one hot it gets passed torres out of the left-center one-run is in racing around a score is Dow two runs around at it's a one run game a bullet out there to center the Torres couldn't come up with Alonzo Jackson too and it's four three are- American league but that would be all the scoring for the nationally in the top of the eighth and by the way I thought it was absolute. Surprise at Pete Alonso didn't hit a grand slam because that's the way he's rolling right now but the American league clung to that lead going into the ninth inning that allowed a role chapman to come on to attempt to save with two outs C._C.. Sobat the WHO of course has been honored in the All star events here <hes> went out to the mound to have a visit to talk to chat and you're going to hear from C._D._C. later in the podcast <hes> but then when he went back to the dugout here's chapin trying to get the final out..

"I don't know that I found that shocking. I think it's it's the nature of the game today and direction that this game is currently going in from an offensive standpoint. I think most people baseball fans know the name, Joey gal, I mean, they know that they know kid who's an incredibly imposing physical specimen with the Texas Rangers can hit mammoth home runs recently, you laid on the one hundred career home runs. Ninety three singles you said some of his career numbers now the nature of the game. I mean, here's a guy that strikes out over two hundred times in a year very low on base percentage. Although he's having a really good year this year. Forty home runs the last couple of years. Is he a player that could play for you, because that's, that's a different animal there? I mean Joey Gallo. I mean having more home runs than singles. That's no one's come close to that. I'm the wrong guy to ask because I'm an old school baseball. Right. I believe in hitting running and bunting and stealing bases. And I do too and and and doing a lot of things that create action in a baseball game, which I think this game has a problem right now because there isn't a lot of action. The action is going up there and swinging from their heels drive hit the ball out of the ballpark, and that's not just restricted to the big guys who are capable of it. But also the guys who are marginal. But Joey Gallo he has he's kind of like Adam done without the walks. That's right. That's exactly what Adam done to his credit. He has the walks on base percentage was pretty darn good. That's right. That's exactly right. Crazy stat Joey Gallo, one hundred home runs career ninety three singles..

"All right there. Once in fact, there was a party of them on on Wednesday. My goodness Wednesday alone. Now all these players rostered in every league. So we're not gonna wait not all of them. Well, I don't know which one is it Mukhi bets Christian yelich defending MVP's, max Muncie. He's gotta be Rauscher Naw leagues. Mitch Haniger Joey gala, which one of them is not rostered non percent. I guess all see maybe. No. No. No. I'm I'm including another guy that you're qualifier excluded. So my Wednesday. Yeah. The well. Well, You know? you know, that's no Monday. Well, yeah, we'll get to that. I said when a word I say. The interesting guy from Wednesday for me is Joey Gallo. We gotta get this stat out. It's amazing. I love this that. But what's on believable mini is how it's not even close. Okay. So Joey gal hit his hundredth home run on Wednesday. He has ninety three career singles now immidiate in this era that doesn't seem so unusual. But do you know second is all time for least amount of singles with one hundred home runs. I couldn't believe the difference here. It's got to be. Yeah. Yeah. I did. And it was I don't remember who it was. It was by a substantial margin was one hundred seventy two singles house done it with ninety three. It's Russell Branyan. And there were other sluggers of heft and Sloan is on the list Gallo is not actually slow. He's playing center field. Unbelievable. But Ryan how're was on the list. Dave Kingman name from the past. Anyway, gala doesn't any singles. I guess we don't care. It's nice to fifty two season. He to fifty with forty home runs was amazing here is he's playing center field. They didn't prepare for the fact that the line of the shields just can't hit brand. They're not using Danny Santana and center. And so does shields gets demoted yesterday. They're going to actually play hunter Pence and left field regularly with Gallo and center, I wrote about that. Yeah. And I do like it. And I'm looking forward to reading about hunter Pence to but are yellow I I am. am. I am. I just looked at Penn says we were talking before the show. I'm amazed at some of the airline numbers for him. But in Gallup's case, I wanna point out two things. One is the chase rates. Ten percent lower this year. He's not swinging at bad pitches. Better disciplined. The other is that his swinging strike rate is down four point two percent this year making better contact as well. And I'll tell you as a guy likes to play the sabre metrically inclined leagues and the six by six that pitch all the time. He's tremendously valuable player monster, and he's not gonna struck out two hundred times. And I added Pence Intel last week. Wow. Kept getting all these numbers. I've been really lucky Intel I'm winning N LeRoy now, it's not gonna last but I'm off to a good start. Wow. Such come on. Look at look at the other managers league. I mean, obviously something's gonna change. It's on the bright side. At least you answered one of the hash Browns in advance. So, you know, there was a labor trade. We'll get to the labor tree. Make that trait. Kyle means to fund you weren. We talk we discussed we got. According to. Eric. So so the guy on Monday who I missed your qualifier on the thing. What did show Tuesday was Tuesday was Whitmer fueled? And Monday was Pablo Sandoval one of the most unlikely combo meals you could ever see there's only one guy less likely than him who who is less likely than him..

"Six twenty eighteen. So it isn't just like oh now he's to Tanis fixed it using to seventy four that's like good. I mean, it's really impressive. And I think he deserves a lot of credit for making those adjustments and changing the way that he has his player. He still three outcomes guy because he's walking so much, but it's kind of coming from somewhere else, which is cool. The first time I ever talked to John Daniels gentleman's or the Rangers about Joey Gallo. He said the part that's under rated about him. He's a great athlete and that has helped the judgments for sure in fact with the line of Shiels being sent to the minor leagues. It looks like Joey gal is going to be playing a lot in center field. So we'll see that real quick before you go. Couple of interesting plays yesterday. Yeah. The the game saving catch by Jackie Bradley, jR against the fence in Baltimore. And then you had Josh bell hitting the ball into the allegany as a baseball fan, which of those two. Would you choose if you had? To pick one which which one's better. I think I like the catch because I think the catches are a little more improbable like four hundred seventy two foot home run into the Allegheny. He was only the fourth player to do that in PNC. That's awesome. But we see long home runs, especially these days. We're talking about Joey Galloway, we see long home runs. But those those real home run robbery of catches, and especially in that kind of situation that leverage Lorenzo Cain is made a few Carlos Gomez made a few J BJ has. But that's about it. So personally, I'm more fired up by something. I see a little less frequently. Josh take the Red Sox fan amount of it. Which play would you prefer which play? Do you like better? Schick xxx dig the long. Would you judge? I'm with you hit a bone or river, you kidding. That was awesome. On the fly. Gimme that come on way. Too much of a purist get outta here. Thanks for doing this things. Stor. Stor. We'll be back in a moment with you leashes sane..
