"Mean I guess I like I like Miles Morales Good Spiderman. I don't like Andrew Garfield which is ironic because today is Garfield Day But I- WHO's the other one. Tom Holland Tobey Maguire. Tom Holland and I liked tobey. Maguire and spread Matteo. I feel like we've talked about the festival. It's really good. Where do you stand on the launch playstation? One Game Spider. Where you play A robot spider. We should play it on the show honestly platform. There's some wild launch titles are all right. Let's let's let's take one more question Matt. Okay then this one. I'm going to do this one. This one's her Mad Steven Ray. Moore's per cast metal goes do worth rule Great Stephen Ask. Who would be better at video games cats or dogs cats? No question What is your argument for that? The cats fucking ruling and dogs drew does do drool that I have no rebuttal for that swishing. I feel like dogs. Get too excited about getting excited So if if they did something good they would lose focus on during whereas I feel like a cat's energy is that it doesn't really care about the output of the thing so it might be better at the thing also. I've seen that that that video of a cat that figures out how toy works like it's like a cat toy. Where if you push a lever than a like a little Goblin comes out of a hole and you can watch it processing how it works and then deciding that it does not want to play anymore when they actually have. They have IPAD games that are specifically designed for cats to play so like cats understand video game right like a lot of simple stuff where it's just like fish moving cattle swat at it so now cats ruled oxygen. Again dogs jewel. Yeah can't come but the my argument for dogs would be that because of their because they can be obedient. I feel like they could learn a simple task and I feel like they would maybe stay a on a. I feel like they're more likely to get quest on the more likely to get the main campaign done whereas cats are gonNA meander and do all the side quests cats I guess if we're talking about just from a controller standpoint. I feel like dogs. More dogs eat controls than cats control. That's true a dog may just eat the controller in that way that might be hard to come back from the VR thing. I feel like the dog would probably be better But if it's like a control interface or touchscreen field account would be better I mean. Let's be realistic. No none of these cats playing video games team in a video that I've seen in the and it's just interacting like it's in the real world it's going to cut to twenty three hundred and low world where like you have to choose between raisin Monday or whatever. Cats are the best gamers future. We all look forward to Joey cliff. Thank you for so much for coming on. The show played played pottage. Email dot com. If you have questions for us joy. "Just typed in minute game like the how you spell it like minute maid and it brought up the minute to win it video cameras the Guy Fieri show also. That was the next time I was admitted to win. Circled and underlined a bunch on your paper. It's like the rest of. It's just that show really took a nosedive when they swap toast for Apollo Antonio no shade still talking Tan right. Well final fantasy Dan. I've lost all the threat here. What's happening? They got the pro. So Guy Fieri left the show. They replaced him with weight. He he left the TV show diners. Drive ins in the show minute to win it. Which was let's start over mats catchphrases? Hello says at the top of the show. People Cheer Greg Another show yet. Another ame several. Show that man more so I'm a guy feary defend enough show. I'm an idea. So He's Yeah. He's very popular and he's a very charismatic host. The show minute to win it and it was a it was a it was on NBC. And it's basically involved a very menial challenge that someone would have to do in a miserable time so it'd be like stack eighty cups in one minute and you see. Someone tried to frantically do this and then if they did it they'd win a Shitload of money or like flip a waterfall and have it. Land right side up on a on a small stool It was all things like that it was. I thought it was an interesting concept. Charming show. Didn't they swap out host for Paulo Antonio the Pro Ice Skater? Okay that is just like as a a TV writer. I see concepts like that. And I'm like Oh yeah that's probably really easy to do. It's a good way to fill thirty minutes. He's one hundred cups so I know you're an not just a garfield enthusiasts cats at large your your big time Feline Fan. I'm very excited to talk about. Cats cats and video games are my two loves is. Is there a is there? Are there any cats in video games of note that come to mind? Besides our our orange friend Garfield CATS IN VIDEO GAMES TO NOTE. Probably Kate slash cat. She frago seven Other than that I mean there definitely are. I feel like there are a couple of cats and I mean once again. These like Weird Indie Games. You can select a cat as your partner with where it's basically like you have a choice between a cat or a dog and the dog attack people on the cat just meows. Sometimes on all team cattle the way this is an indie game. Awhile ago where you played is a cat knocking shit off shell game. Also catt quest is like a cat. Jr PG Like Yeah what other. Good Catkins are there So you mentioned final fantasy. Seven and there is kate. Seth is the giant Mughal. Yeah with the cat who controls him sitting on top of his head like some kind of brain parasite and then there is also the is it an actual Mughal or is it a what. I'm so big. The Big Guy. The big thing chanted isn't it? It's not the deal is is that. Kate Smith is actually controlled by a guy who works. Shi'a and rain. You meet him spoiler later in the game as like he's just like behind a computer and he's like hey. This is a robot control. Oh I thought it was. I thought the cat on top of the Mughal was real and that the Mughal was enchanted. But that he. I don't think it's all I think it's all controlled by like just a guy who works at Enron. Who's like he's on your side braves like doing it secretly? There's there's also a a goal or you're saying can I spoil I don't want to I don't know how to. How do you unspoiled a game? That's been out for like fucking twenty. Five hundred people are going to be. Maybe they've never played final fantasy seven. They're going to be approaching the final fantasy seven remake for the first time. How do we handle this exactly right? Because I think if you're not going to spoil a major plot point you're probably say about to spoil a major plot point. Okay so I guess I can't It's the this is not the final fantasy there are just went. Battisti's spoil say it and then if if you get freaked out about later edited out. I thought that it was. It turned out that cates was a spy that he was a bad guy. I don't I don't think you could be right because I also crazy same deal. I haven't played it in like twenty years or yeah yeah But like I mean. I don't think 'cause like when you're fighting South Roth you can fight. Southworth K yeah. He's you find out that he's a bad guy and then he he joins your team. Yes I think you're both right. Yes he has this Shinwa affiliation. I'm looking at the final fantasy. Dot FANDOM DOT COM website and. Reeve character uses keats. Spit Kate Cith to spy on cloud and his allies and report back to Shinya. So that's that's the Shin retire right there. Okay got it is. We've I feel nothing. I also WANNA give a shout out to unreleased socks the CAT Super Nintendo game. Oh Yeah I think it was like socks like cat on the forget. What the name of it but Yeah so if you're if you're if you're Bill Clinton fan or Clinton Fan and you like his cat socks you could. You could have played a video game with them if they actually released at. Did you ever leak on that? I'm sure the Romley Donna. Oh you know what it's this is. This is saying that socks. The cat rocks the hill. It seems to imply that the Super Nintendo version did in fact hit shelves for the Sega. Genesis version was cancelled which I wonder if that's true or not hands on this. There are some screen shots though so imagine the Rahm is I mean. There is a review in Nintendo power for the game. Yes so and it sucks. Apparently is I guess. We've got to do it in perhaps in upcoming election year. Yeah the person. I feel like the person that reviewed that game as a strong leaning adjustment or a strong doug leading it other final fantasy is affiliated cats because you mentioned there too and final fantasy seven there of consequence the red thirteen residents of course can cool red cat cameras in the remake watch. You can't play him. That was announced this week. Please read thirteen. I gotTA cancel White preorder also Camera Kamari Rather Who is the big blue cat creature in final fantasy ten? I really I really like the Sony. Cat whose name. I can't think of at the moment where the Sony cat like. There was a Sony. There was a cat that was baske- yeah between a crash banding No. So they're in Japan. There is a there is Doro in a way He's like Mascot in Japan and he had on the playstation three a news program. Where every day he would he would give you. The news like in a little like cartoon but like a pre rendered sort of environment and I have a little statue of him on my on my desk. That guy he's fucking Google can get. I love that cat. I know of every cat been the caddy and Garfield Cart transitioned into the alright. Well guys there it is. This week's game is Garfield cards so excited. An animal and Human Kart racing game published by microbes and developed by Artifact Studios Games based on the Garfield show which is based on the American Comic Strip Garfield which is based on the Creator. Jim Davis desired dominate. The World of licensing. It was released in November two thousand thirteen for Ios and Android and then on in Twenty fifteen and thirty s and steamed other games of two thousand thirteen but this game in context only a couple of years the last of us. Wow grand theft auto. Five Super Mario Three D world grid too like those were the big topping. Them all on his Orange Tail Garfield car so we we played Garfield Cart. Joey did you play Garfield Cart at time of launch? Or did you just come around to it recently? For THIS SPLIT. The podcast honestly. I came around here recently. It's definitely a game that like was in my just as a big Fan Garfield It was definitely in my purview. But like I just kind of never got around to it so I was very excited to come in. The show is just an excuse to play Garfield Charter. What did you? What is your as you say. You're a big Garfield Fan. Did you did. The comic strip sleet none of us. None of US slept on purview. None of us left on it. I was waiting for it to happen. Nobody Wide Open Lane and disappointed that you didn't jump up and then quickly look back at the microphone like I'm not doing full disclosure. I used to host a monthly show. Ucb where I just interviewed celebrities about their cats. It was called chats on cats. With Joey. Clifton Matt was my cohort. That was the ED McMahon to this catch twenty eighteen twenty seven. This was twenty years ago. This was the nineties socks. The cat was the house and it was great Bill Saxophone. You when you write for a cat themed talk show you get really good a cap fund just becomes your language. It's that same disease you get for having too many cats to plasmas comedy writer. Talks about Moses. Okay so you're asking Yeah when did that begin? Because I love Garfield is a kid it was it was that the case with you so I definitely was somebody that grew up being Just a really big fan of cats in general so Garfield just kind of became kind of extension of that. I feel like either. My mom bought me just like a Garfield book growing up or I just like saw one of the library and I was like. Oh a cat. I'm on board and Like I remember Reading it and becoming just a really big fan I feel like I got a lot of like you know Garfield Year calendars and then that kind of like I'm you know the far side and a lot of other non comics which I guess are fine and I'm then into adulthood. I definitely just like became somebody that like loved Garfield but also just loved trolling PA PAS so Like this twenty sixteen. I changed my twitter. Handle from Garfield Garfield official the day that I realized that the Garfield twitter account was not verified. And then I just preceded a tweet like Garfield facts every couple of days and it was just like Garfield Fact Seven. Odi is a dog and then like and then. While I was doing this I saw the Garfield twitter account was doing official Q. and A. With Garfield called Hashtag ask Garfield and I was like. Oh if I just like. There's their accounts not verified. So if I just answer the questions before they do. Nobody's going to be able to tell the difference between me and the real town so I did it. Got Blocked by the Garfield. Twitter got write ups. Av Club and stuff like that. It was Super Fun But one of the things I was able to do in that is I tried I kept on trolling at Olive Garden. How they should send me free stuff and they sent me a DM and thought.

"Would salute every soldier cloud when I played it was just like this level of hype. Honestly like hell it down a little bit. I was just I looked sick so much. Seven could not reach. It's like it's like this is probably what it feels like to be a star wars fan like loves the the original trilogy so much and to see anything. That's not as good as that yes. Yeah Yeah I mean I. I wonder if there's anyone who can relate to that I had a I had a. I love seven. I prefer six. I even would say I like four better as a game. Seven but seven. I think is good. I like I'm a big eight defender. I love final. That's my favorite playstation one final fantasy. I love the story and the look of it. I just didn't really get into the draw system Like it was just like I don't know I like the system so much like the draw system was just like the story. It was great. You've reached the point where I was is Bat. Shit crazy like you wouldn't know that monsters are going to come from the moon or that. You have to go space unless you read supplementary material around the computers in your classroom. It's crazy which I of course did of course win nine nine. I think was also like a big series highlight really great was kind of like a return to like the SNES sixteen bit era in terms of storytelling and it was great. I had a similar reaction to nine that you did to seven which I was so hyped. Four we did. We had to hard basically hard SCIFI slash dystopia of Entries in the series and then nine was like this returned to like this the steam punk high fantasy approach of the Super Nintendo Games. I was so fucking pumped for it and then it just didn't quite live up to my lofty expectations but still a very good game. I had sort of. I think the invert so I have not beaten six and I told a story on on this Show that I am. I have a save for Sapphire off on seven. Yes under level. Can't beat him so I haven't factually beaten seven eight through fifteen I've beaten. I mean not. You can't beat eleven or fourteen but like eleven. I played for two years of my life right and so I was the that was the massively multiplayer. One right and so my like my experience it's It's like the flip of Ray you've gone through. Twelve is incredible man by. Yeah I I mean I enjoyed twelve and I was engaged by told. What's the mechanic where you're going online? Hunt Sir what is your your. You've got like a bounty system. Yeah you just called hunts. But I'm not like arouses. Yeah yeah and it's sort of an AI. Driven battle engine. Were you create? Gambits that determine the sort of like a battle flow for for your party and then you just unleash them on a monster and watch and then at some point you're like. Oh Shit things are going wrong so you have to like reorganize stuff on the fly but it was great. It's like managing a baseball team. The video game for those exists. I feel like I had a similar experience with you with I think. Final fantasy eight right. Just got so into triple triazole like. I probably played like. I probably put one hundred hours. In Ninety of those hours would probably try now and then I just got like exhausted knows like home done with guide without saving after playing for five hours. Now it's like I be trouble. I had I had a friend who got sucked in by blitz ball and I was like wait a man I could not I did not click for a what we're what we're for you about blitz. Because I felt like it was I just never really got it. I just did the the the amount that was required for me to progress in the story. I I guess with blitz ball what I liked about it was I honestly like the Narrative Tie of his dad being famous blitz ballplayer. And I think that for me it was just sort of like I've got like to me. The story of this is and it turns out this is a story of the game is like It's was titus yet. Yeah this is like even at the start of the game was like. Oh It's Titas story of trying to overshadow or beat his dad so I was like. Oh so I'm going to do that. By having him be the best blitz ball player so that kind of became. What the game was to rai- so I got really really really good at billets ball and I was.

"Fantasy seventy seconds in gaming mid Gar. Thank you for taking my pitch. Heather add FA final fantasy seven thirty seconds in heaven in Gaming Heaven and then I added. Can we make it says? Final fantasy seventy seconds in mid. Gar which she did not like. It is a hat on a hat. It's unnecessary it's Gilding. The Lily Y- clock is ticking. Twenty seconds I play the final. Fantasy seven remake demo. You're actively not avoiding this demo even though you're gonNA play the game and our big final fantasy seven fan. I don't WanNA play the demo. 'cause I don't WanNA spoil anything so I will say it's a weird experience playing this level of remake where it's very involved like. I just remember things from you. Start playing final fantasy and which I played at the time I play would've came out and you play this demo and it looks fantastic. I mean the character models are great. The environmental look great but just that you have a fully controllable. Three d camera is very disorienting versus something a game that famously has fixed cameras with pre rendered backgrounds and then just hearing the voice acting the combat goes from you know select pianos on a screen to a very sort of you know pseudo pseudo. Rpg sort of a way of doing things and it's like. I liked it a verdict. So we introduce our guests. Yes yes returning to the show. A writer actor and comedian from Camp Nick- NICKELODEON and a noted Garfield enthusiast. Joey clift is back. Hi Joey hello everyone. It's like the here I go to say for the record. I'm I'm not a big final fantasy seven person. I'm interested person. And where have you to beaten final fantasy sex? Yes I I've beaten Let's see basically my my finishing final fantasy ends with ten saying that's actually which basically lines up with when I entered adulthood but I would. I would love to finish fifteen and thirteen and later I'd love to do wow now but I played like I played like thirty hours. Twelve and finish it. I will say that that six is probably a series highlight. It's just so it's just so so good. Yes six to me was like like when I was a kid. I remember that being just like a transcendent experience of like it's like. Oh this is what you can do with like narrative right like that and I was so excited for seven like there was a there was like a final fantasy seven billboard outside of my junior high that I.

"Crazy because like real. Oh pacman sounds are so pleasant and fun. Yeah yeah he bad the most so awesome. Are you supposed to track. What the ghosts or they just literally blink Out like the ring. Yeah it's basically unplayable because they couldn't display all these sprites and they couldn't they couldn't animate these sprites on screen at the same time. Yeah so the ghosts are just radically flashing across the game board yet fucking SAR added so bad that retailed for sixty dollars a the sixty dollars in one thousand nine hundred to money to play that piece of shit back. I feel like I'm similar to you guys like I. I never owned my own Atari Twenty six hundred. It was definitely something that was like at my grandparents house. That like you know we would like every once in a while and it's never had fun playing Atari six hundred game because I had an intend to at home antenna was great and eventually learned. Took my dumb little kid brain like two years to realize I could just bring my Nintendo to my grandma's house way you can do that. Yeah I figure that one point and brought my Super Nintendo played linked to the past like all weekend and I was like Holy Shit. I felt like a genius. got pulled off a heist because the game I remember a pole position was kind of playable. That was the the racing game Empire strikes back. I remember I was so like a love empire strikes back the Empire strikes back game. We're going to bring up an image of this Matt. Maybe we could pose some of these on on social media but that game again. You're just doing the the The snow level and I remember this. Yeah and it's kind of playable but are also just looks like complete dog shit. It looks so bad breath. I don't know how many I don't know the exact specs of the Atari Twenty six hundred but it feels like the resolution of the screen was like eighty eighty pixels. It's got the color on that. The the empire strikes back game is is a really Nice Pallet. Yes but that was it like it was unrig nearly unrecognizable other. It looked like you were flying mosquito at a long legged. That's something that's so interesting to me about specifically like Atari Games Games like I guess I would say pre Nintendo the cover. Art had to be so detailed is the only way you could have any idea what the fuck was going. It's almost like the older. The Games are the more they relied on your imagination. And so our mem- I think the thing about our nostalgia for a lot of these old games is like we really do remember them as good. Yes looking. And they're not good looking now but it was because so much of it with your brain. That's absolutely true. And and and and also the Atari Twenty six hundred for people who would who never had this system or too young had a little joystick with I was just like a stiff joystick with. I think one button maybe. Two the buttons yeah And a so it was just versus a game Pat. It was it was such a step down and even versus an arcade joystick. It was just so bad it was so poor. Control Control Mechanism wood-pannelling. Yes yeah yeah it was like it was the you know the styling of a nine hundred seventy seven chevy see bring. I don't know I don't know why you so. Mattis pulled up the Atari Twenty six hundred on our computer and there are some for sale and one of them is retailing for seven thousand. Five hundred dollars. Which I'm guessing is just today's money but the the retail price of the original adjusted adjusted for inflation accents also? I should go to my grandmother's house and ask if I can. Her grandson can have retired. My guess is this is like mitten box. That's the the valuable because there was such a surplus of these producers the time Yeah the the the Atari Twenty six hundred as a system was a was was pretty bad. I mean it was the early days of game of home gaming But there is such a huge gulf between what was at the arcade in what was available for console in terms of technology. And we're talking about one of the worst. I think. Probably the worst both in terms of subject matter in game play Video video game that was developed for the Atari Twenty six hundred and it came just at the end of the tail end of Atari Twenty. Six hundred's rain over the industry. Basically right after this game released east we at the video game crash of nineteen eighty-three happened and the entire industry lost like you know ninety percent of its value and really didn't recover until the domestic release contender entertainment system a couple years later. This week's game I'm dancing around it. It's CUSTER's revenge. It's an unlicensed adult game develop mystique and released for Atari Twenty six hundred and nine hundred a two as I mentioned a single stream game which you control mostly new general custer as you dodge arrows and attempt to sexually assault a captive native. American woman. Joey thank you for discussing discussing this awful game with us. I did want to discuss. Because you are an enrolled. Member of the Kellett's Indian tribes that correct yes data representation in Games in general. This is the the most egregious examples but it's generally pretty poor. Yes yeah I feel like A. They're like it's pretty poor but there are a couple of bright spots examples examples would be Like prey was a really good game. had like a temporary native protagonist stereotypical. TORONTO IS PRETTY DOPE. You know there are a lot of characters characters like To my yeah drugs dope I think like Nighthawk for mortal combat. I mean but it. It's tough there's not. There's not a lot of oh great stuff right Yeah I think like I was talking as we were prepping for this episode. I was talking with Heather and Matt a little bit about like even Oregon trail. It had their native Americans Oregon trail which is an entertainment game for kids. But they're just represented as raiders. Like like the raiders are coming sort of. It's it really is just playing on that you you know old Western trope of like you know natives attacking settlers right that makes sense. Yeah actually I mean like talking about me me specifically being on this episode of this show A thing like it will be hard for me to be on this episode of this show without talking about Something that I think is kind of an off off in the room for me at least and that's like token ization sure and What I mean by that is and like I'm being like a bit of the super serious I think the only native American guests you out on the show right. Yes So you had me on an episode talk about a video game where the whole point of the game is for General Custer to rape native American woman and it's for the Thanksgiving episode. That's like not I'm not saying it's not as bad that's fucked up and I guess What the Fuck Tuck why? What was the thought process and putting this episode together? I mean you're right to call us out on it. I guess we didn't think about the token is position of it that much we thought of you as a Gamer and we thought we figured we'd want a native perspective on something so grim so dark. But you're right it is fucked up to put you in that box and say like hey this is your responsibility to come in and talk about this fucked up thing. Yeah and I mean it it bums me out a lot and once again you know apologies for actually no. I'm not gonNA apologize that These are emotions You know it's there is this thing oftentimes especially like with natives in the entertainment industry and the community and I'm one of very few and it's sort of like It's it's tough because it kind of minimizes us into being less than what we are like. Kind George Mu new box of not necessarily being a superfund comedy writer and we had a great conversation before this. And like like you know you are you two are people that I respect Matt. You're somebody that I consider to be a friend But it it just sort of tells me like oh you didn't bring me onto this show. Oh because I'm a funny comedy writer. You brought me onto this show because I'm a native comedy writer And like there is something to that that just makes makes me feel like less than you know. I get what you mean and I will say that like our thought process was and again. It's fair for you to call us out on this. Obviously our thought process process was well. This is a game that is dealing with something. That's fucked up about native Americans about the way they are represented in media and we figured we wanted native perspective on that because otherwise you know is it i. It feels like it's talking about elephant in the room and it would feel like the elephant the room if there wasn't wasn't a native perspective here are we like not you know. Are we not having the person comment on it would be had the most relevant perspective. I think it's it's an again this is not to minimize your feelings in any way I think a lot of podcasting and a lot of like booking guests is thematically right. So like if there if there's a if there's a a show about Gay Comedy Writers. I'm might be called in as a potential guest on that. It's not because I'm not a comedy writer. Otherwise it's because the episode is about specifically. What can you speak to as a gay comedy writer and I think that I think that unfortunately for the sake of packaging? It's like well what what would be the most interesting conversation. Have about this game and it would be with somebody who has legitimate thoughts about native American representation and is native American. I I I get what you're talking about. I guess like where where kind of like bumps me a little bit or like burns me a little bit. Is that like. That's not what the show so is like you haven't like you know you You guys don't often tackle this kind of stuff and you know you didn't necessarily have like a black performer. On the show specifically for Martin Luther King Day talk about some games specifically about the black experience. They're allowed to just be comedians sure So like you know one hundred percent understand packaging but it is just this feeling of like Oh like why is it just for natives will. I don't think we were just going to discuss plus to to speak to that specifically and you mentioned having a good discussion before we got into this topic or idea wasn't like hey we're going to talk exclusively about custer's eventually we wanted get to know you as a Gamer..

"Because I felt like I was going to start crying in I did. Did she see you. Cry No okay okay. Embarrassed embarrassed for Sharing Molly Shannon big. How did this get played? The true comedy icon. I can't think of a I mean other than yeah other than gaming people. I can't think normal celebrities don't phase. He's meet all share Bah. Tom Hanks more like Tom. Hike worked at SNL and there were celebrities all over the race. As long as there's no I don't know but like if I if I had to like hang out with the dude design tetris. I'd probably Piss my pants. Oh Yeah Yeah that guy he. He deserves so much credit because like Alexi paget now yeah like all that he got for designing touch. It was like a new computer right right. Yeah it was it it was like oh I think it was owned by the Soviet government. Because you worked for D designed it on their computers. Yeah the haggling over the licensing was that he was not profited. Buddy eventually eventually had the tetris company. Are everything profit. I think since then. That's one of the reasons. There's so many Tetris reboots and stuff that's him. That's him getting his tetris money. Yeah Yeah so You mentioned a pro wrestler. The undertaker is there a ever had much fun with a wrestling video games. Hooked You oh absolutely I mean I was definitely like a huge and sixty four no mercy wrestlemainia. Two Thousand Acai I I slow down relevant wrestling video games around I WanNa let's say two thousand three smackdown. Here comes the pain because I'm the type of person likes to design myself in video games. Sure and I'm very thin and weak man and I and here comes. The pain was the first year where a thin and weak wrestler could not body slam the big show so I remember like creating myself and then getting rematch with brock listener. He punched me in the face immediately. My head hit like critical like tried to punch him and any literally grabbed my hand and made me. That's like this is just what my life is. That's no fun if you can't if you're treated like your your puny character can't be like a super heroic. That's fun of upgrading. Your Avatar in game are so. I don't play any wrestling games I've watched them but I would think that good wrestling video game would be where you have to memorize insane chain of button inputs puts and then during the match you have to just do those button inputs in sequence and if you miss you get injured for real and then like the the core the game is like your health bar going down your health bar going down if you fuck up the choreography that honestly that I thought that you were doing a bit and describing fighting this like a street fight or something like that but the way they described that that makes sense in the context of what wrestling. Yeah sure again. There could be opportunities where it's like if you watch like the sequence changes a bunch and you have to really quickly on the fly to change it. Yeah Yeah it's more about working through the the sort of loose choreography. They I do know that that some of the wrestling styles. And you know I'm not speak certainly not speaking for expertise hearsay but take some of the. There is a good amount of improv slash. Putting it up putting together on their feet there are a lot of beets there like scripted advanced. Yeah that's that is an issue because a lot of wrestling games are more like fighting game as opposed to what wrestling like. We're trying to get a good performance out of if you watch a good wrestling match your what you're experiencing is an extraordinary level of of choreography. Communication improvisation and the sort of energy of the selling of the thing right right like that's what you're enjoying the theater and it's a shame that there aren't games that like demonstrate that theater player. I mean there are. There are a few modes in and I mean. It hasn't been a little bit. It's it's been a little while for this mack games but there are a wrestling games that focus less on the fighting game aspect of it and more on the like you're managing a TV show. Oh yeah so that's situations where it's like you know. It doesn't necessarily matter who champion it matters like these two wrestlers put on a good match and that had a good rating or whatever Dave Dave Meltzer reacted how question. I wanted Dave Meltzer Pro Wrestling journalists. That only nerds like me and you know about a care. Sure about what we care so much about I know who Melts Metzler Metzler Metzler. Yes I know who that guy is. So let's say this this week. We're talking about an Atari Twenty six hundred game before we get into this particular depraved piece of software. We talk about the Atari Twenty six hundred a little bit more. Generally my grandparents had an Atari Twenty six hundred specifically for entertaining grandkids and as I was researching this game and the associated era. I was reminder. Just how much they charge. Twenty six hundred like fucking sucked as a system games. Were so fucking. Oh Yeah Yeah. They were. Just like awful stripped-down ports. The most playable of them were like centipede. Missile like the PACMAN board the port were just like execrable cat pacman. Can you pull up like an audio clip of it. What was great about the Pacman Pacman port? Because I had a neighbor down the street who had one in there In there Dan or whatever and it it the sound of the Pacman Amanpour is horrible right very point blank. That looks that looks like somebody threw up onto a TV here. It's just a it's just a blue grid with a puke. Brown background takes place in the Nineteen fifteen world war one simulator This is the ghosts of Belgian soldiers. God Jesus that's.

"That nonsense I it's time to spend seventy seventy seconds in gaming heaven heather. I'm going to yield my time to you because you have been playing death. Stranding I've been playing death stranding and let me tell you it's fucking incredible. It's great I have not been addicted to the mechanic in a game. The core mechanic and a game in so long. I don't even remember the last time that I was like. I don't WANNA I don't care about the story. Although the story is great and the and the science fiction world is great but the core mechanic get a package. Bring the package. Somebody is happy. Nobody in the game except for the the terrorists are upset. Everybody is so so grateful to see you and you feel so much like you've accomplished rush something when you drag an almost impossible weight up a mountain to a loan prepar in in the woods and you're like here is your ceramics. And they're like thank you and they look at it and they're like this is in grave condition and then you hear like and it's great. I I feel like I'm going crazy. Zevon is wake up. I'm losing my my Okay I. It's a Lotta people perhaps might be turned off by that description but that makes me wanNA play so so much more tasks to complete them into it. It's unstoppable yeah tasks alongside other tasks. Now I'm the same way like like Whenever it seems boring I'm like very on board like one of my favorite games over the past couple of years was papers please where you're living rating tire game as you're literally a guy? I working at the border in fake eastern European country and the whole game is just you checking of passports or real or fake. And it's like I. That's my so exciting. I need tedium to take me away from it. There's something very satisfying about having a job and hey talking right now. Is this week's guest writer and comedian. Median whose credits include Camp Nick on Nickelodeon. Jugo decoded on cartoon network short film telling people you're native American when you're not native is a lot like telling bear your bear when you're out of bear. Joey Clift Hi Joey. Yeah whoa very long name of ashore. Real even the acronyms unwieldy. I wrote it down once and will not say the twenty four th long name. All of my things like Fiona apple out in time Joe. You're you're really into indie games Yeah so I'm I'm I'm one of those people that I was a huge hardcore Gamer Pretty much up until I was like twenty one twenty two right and I. I was like hardcore to the point that I was like I was going to become a video game programmer and then when I was like twelve I took like a just like a C.. Plus basic programming class in like middle school and it was real hard so as anymore made their injuries. As far as it I mean I worked in the video game industry and Do working the TV is much better D.. It's like that. That's a lot of friends that work in the ministry now and that seems to be a very universal like oh you made the right choice. Punishing hours and and poor poor pay because it's none of it is unionized and a lot of game developers who are creating great stuff and making so that's very very profitable for their employers. They're not getting any of that sent their way. But this is not me talking about the Labor issues in the game industry you I want to hear more about your into games et now. I'm going in more of a side tangent about yeah no so Like like I've had to kind of like slow down basically like in my adult life. Like comedy is sort of replaced. Sixteen hours a day. I used to play video so I really loved just like weird indie Games the type of games where it's like you know like you can beat it in like four to six hours or something like that. I kind of allow myself like a couple weekends a year then usually in December when things slow slowdown in the entertainment industry. I'll give myself a full week of like. Oh I'm playing for eighteen hours every day on. Yeah right do you. Do you find that. There's an indie aesthetic that you're particularly fond of for example. Sample like the throwback chip GR eight Bit Sixteen Pixel Pixel graphics like papers please or do are you sort of agnostic towards the style. Well I mean I would say that. I'm pretty agnostic. Like papers. Please really great. But I also loved Griss which was like in Indiana that came out this year that was like essentially playing painting. That's also another like four our platform that former. That's about grief. They're all very weird already. I guess that in terms of like my like jam for Indie Games is is probably like post apocalyptic rogue lakes Or just like any type of broke like so You know things like really great game the shout FDI. I used to not not like rogue likes at all when I was younger. I was always like but I want to finish the story like or or like I don't but then I die in they have to restart all over but now I like I love him. If I'm the area absorbing orbiting we and there is also just something really satisfying about like one beating road like like others. There's steaks to my characters dying their stakes to things happening. But there is also just this feeling of like like oh I could play a rogue like for like an hour or two and then if I die. It's like done and then it's like oh that was a satisfying exactly game experience. Yeah I so you F- TRL L. developed by subset games that also made into the breach which was my favorite game of twenty eight days. Great Yeah and that they both those just like that one's also rogue like and But more of a strategy tactical turn based as opposed to the real time sometimes even twitchy nature of F. T. al I feel like there's parts parts where you you boy it's borderline twitchy when there is just a so like you know not to get into the mechanics of into the breach too much. Yeah it's a strategy game where basically like you kind of control time in such a way. Okay that like every move you feel like a genius if you do something right. It's just like okay moved to this character and made them fire which made this bug go into this direction which caused a chain reaction and kill these three bucks right Yeah those are great. I'm like I really a lot of my early favorite games growing up. Were things like earthbound mother three and stuff like that. Oh there's language literally this is replica Lucas. Sure mother three I've got a courageous badge from other three on my laptop bag so I I just WANNA give a shout out to you. And there's a video game series called Lisa. The painful that is it's like earthbound but for adults kind of which sounds lame but like playing it. It's great can you put that up on the screen so I can look at it burned into my brain looking at like a side. scrolling turn based RPG that is very bleak but great great. Yeah you should check it out. It's only like like eight hours or something. I wish we could talk about mother three for like the next forty five minutes. Yes because I don't know anybody who's WHO's played it other than you now. Yeah I mean it's just like never came out in states right What do you play the fan? Translate Aram what did you plan. Yeah there's There's specifically translated Rom. That came out in the late. Two thousands because is like fans were just like. Oh is this not out in America and You know like I think it covers the story really well. I'll put myself on blast be honest. I haven't beaten it yet in most of the way through how it's just added it's like the adding is genuine gasp. So that's all that's on my like I might. That might be my thing. I dedicate a week to December so I so I put it off for a long time and then just played it and finished it this year and it's one of my top ten of all time very that gasp. Was Joey telling you that. He voted. For Jill Stein in Wisconsin four or five once again really just like you guys you guys nailed my personal. Yeah yeah mother three I mean I like I just love. This is going to sound very I guess you know basic or Dushi but like just the whole games as art thing so my thing. Yeah Yeah Yeah I mean that's why I love games like papers please. Or like there's a game called like change the homeless game where you play as a homeless person but it's not like fun. It's just sad it's like the game is is just like busking and game homeless So there's a new speaking of games as art there's a new Is Visit Keta Takahashi. Is that his name. The Guy who did yes The Guy who did democracy. Yeah he's got a new game coming out very soon and that it looks like Games as art. What's it called what Tom Green Guy Holding an umbrella and then a bunch of Shit is falling from the sky? Yeah W. A. M. I believe type oh you'll bring up one. Oh no over the principles for forty minutes. I think it's a game about communicating and making friends but I'm I'm not sure because it's Because it's that guy. What's the dude's name? Can you please look it up because I feel like fucking asshole. I feel like a jerk. I have two pieces of his art up on my wall. Nice yeah I am a bit ever. Yes that's where I well. I didn't mean to most too scared to talk to him that my girlfriend talk to him though she said my girlfriend really likes your IRA. That's like that's something that's so funny about like I guess like working in entertainment industry is like you know when we're on celebs or whatever it's like who cares. But if but if like if I were to meet like one of the people that program. TRL Or like the guy that made. Lisa the painful like my hands hands would sweat whilst I the Mo like the most freaked out. I was by a celebrity is and I've been in the same room I'm as President Obama but was was seeing Shigeru. Miyamoto eighty three. Oh No grace war. He made eye contact with me. It was like could not handle it. Oh Oh yeah like I for me. It's like a wrestler the undertaker and Sugar Morimoto the two people that I would like cry. Yeah I mean Ed I feel like and I might have a situation in my life where I meet Kareem Abdul-jabbar because he is like right he's a writer. Yeah so but I love cream so much matt who's your celebrity the man crushed. What do you say I will I have? I have a real one. I've I saw. I saw Molly Shannon Gilson's since one time and I was starting to walk toward her then immediately turned around..

"Let's see so there's an interview and then yeah the voicemails will be on their talk it. Yeah we've been rolling. It's Jimmy Roy. John Water Water while we ramp. Okay all your input. We know we're using all of his. If you fucking cut a single second of this of Joey clift comedian writer. Pour water and I like how. Yo you almost overfill the glass last to keep the bit going to appreciate you think. Oh no idea. I have to stop pouring now. Yeah but this is making a good noise. Yeah this has been a very fun. Episode of Joe Is this water. I don't know what is water now. I want to do it spin up this league. Revenues like okay. I got it out and do bottle. Is this why certain certain types of ice though. Is this pin water. Some of it is like everything's Jahmai water. I mean part of water though so it's still is water. Shit Joey. How's it going man? I'm doing really good man. Thanks for having me on the show. Thanks for coming here we did. A and Newman is in the studio. She's just being very quiet. Yeah but he's not where her yeah. Listen back you'll if you listen back to Couple episodes you'll find in the cinematic universe we talked about this or didn't talk about it truly. You might have heard a series of beliefs that you might. It's still be hearing a series of leaves who fucking no. Yeah Joey what's up what you've been up to I'm doing really good Let's see last time. I haven't been here since the twenty. The episode one thousand I think was the last one that was on and only solved racism. So you know it's been kind of slow. Yeah so I mean what's the show you've been just nothing man and we had we have been doing but I'm doing really well. I'm just like work on. Projects Get mad about native staff doing all the all the Hollywood stuff damn like thing about like so. Oh Yeah actually I joke came strapped with a topic good game strapped with just just like just like things that happened to me this year that I'm like I want an audience about this please like I pitched so like I. I had a meeting with shing earlier this year. Where like often times? I find myself being a first native person that I meet with. And it's like it's this weird thing where it's like unlike. Some of these executive meetings acts for twenty years or whatever and Like you know. Usually they'll say like I feel very bad that you're the first one but were excited to talk to. They'll try to play it cool. Yeah every once in a while you'll have an exact who It does not that one that like me questions like how do you say hello. Hello and your native language. Yeah people don't get why that's so annoying. Yeah or just like he was also questioned me on just like what's the biggest native American tribe it just like a museum so like wikipedia. Yeah it's like like yeah like like maybe maybe it'd be cool if you like talk to me like a creative person are like a comedian and not like a book. Yeah Yeah Yeah. Yeah socks dude. Yeah so yeah. Yeah Yeah Yeah and then again you just heard a series of bleeps and I don't know but I feel like every year like native if stuff gets a little bit better in Hollywood like chambers. Come out on Netflix. That started the first ever native American female lead for a series which is really good. There's a lot of other just like cool projects in the ether. So like just updating you on native Hollywood for Twenty Nineteen. We're talking a little bit off mic. Think off Mike about this also may be an early. Just go back and look at about like. Yeah the the fact that I feel like like you feel like you need to like lock doc in load your tire date of experience when you come out of the show and we do it to you. Also I mean it's like but it's a tough thing like I feel like that's that's that's the thing where like for native people especially in their internment industry. It's like a they're definitely I think that like I think this is the truth. Truth of every person of color in Hollywood that it's like if you have like designated month or year or like every month day or whatever it's sort of like it's sort of like that's the time the people are like. Oh we gotta talk to some native folk. Yeah so it's like you know like a like a lot of natives get generals November a lot like in the same way that like you know it's just it's that's what God that's a depressing thing I think about which is definitely probably happened to me that you guys probably experience is that to get more meetings in February than any other point. Yeah we did we introduce producers Halo folks as as you know it will one black co host podcast stepping in and filling in hurt again. Tiny Togo Iraq. Making that making that. It seem like it's a sad thing but yeah like I mean it's a little of both it's like annoying. I feel maybe like fine. I mean I guess it's like you know it's cool. It's called that People WanNa talk to you. It is a little like yeah. It's like it's like annoying because it's like oh like what about the months but it's also like I mean I don't know no it's like why it's part of it is like Oh. Why don't you give people presents every day instead of on Christmas? Yeah it's like I also get that it's like I mean I I find find myself going into that too where it's like. Oh like whenever I book like a comedy showcase for natives at like any of the comedy theater I always do like on Columbus Day or November. It's just like oh like it's because that's our it's like a thing. Let's let me just throw this out there or any any person within power you're even if you're just investing in Tokenism. Here's here's the secret to seem to be one of the good ones just figure out when you were going to be inspired to book all these people for meetings whether it's black history month or date of as a native history month or new American heritage will lose my travelcard travelcard. If I got that room I mean look. I don't know what they want us. Call just like offset by like three months you can still be just. You're still tokenism people. But they don't know that you're token ising them because you just put it off by a court. It's sort of like whenever like whenever a meeting not in November. I'm always like Oh Bloomberg I'm excited to talk to. You can still be one of the bad ones and hide the fact that you're one of the bad ones by kind of being one of the good ones the little subterfuge. That's all. Yeah just like the like. All we need is like first draft levels of politeness. Don't even need to actually be alive. Raise try I a little harder than zero. What it's it's also like you know it's I mean? The natives getting any platform is great. Yeah yeah of course so like. I'm I'm happy to be on this podcast but it is. It is something where it's like. I Like I knew that I could have reached out to you guys at any point this year and then like hey like this Washington Post things. It was dumb. It goes both ways both problematic. Did we lock and load yet. Did we say it. I'm not sure walking wounded people. Yes this was the thing that you were You wanted to bring another thing. I wanted to bring in just like my own professional grapes. It is so Like recently The Washington Post New story about A poll all that came out that said that ninety percent of native American people were okay with the Washington. DC NFL teams team name and If if you don't know a team that is a google schedule a general meeting Joey only with me in like September or December just not November her and and It said that ninety percent of native Americans were okay with this team. Name that like traditionally native people don't really like so you look into the article and This is this is this is sort of a catch up. Article The Washington Post article about a similar poll. They did in two thousand twelve kind of had similar a similar result. But if you read the article it uses the very specific language of They interviewed five hundred. Self identified native Americans over the phone Yeah so it's like like for me. That's annoying what I wanted to talk about with. This is like statistical method. It's just this weird thing where like when people report on native American issues. It's it's like they like that's something that should be in the headline and not buried deriving article. We call a bunch of random mass mostly white people. Yeah and then we were like you native. They're like yeah. I think my like grant parent is like a princess or some. You know it's like if you ask like like I feel like for a lot of like non native people. There's this thing of like. Are you native. Probably somewhere down the line. Yeah whereas it's like you know for me like I'm like an enrolled member of a tribe. I grew up on a reservation. I'm not somebody that just did like an ancestry dot com test like and I'm like Oh like five percent native. I can speak for all native issues so like you know like I even. I don't usually do this. Kinda anything even like emailed the person that wrote the article and was like hey like this is like a thing when you report on future native American issues like these are details that you should include and their response similar to something that we talked about in like the the episode that I was on a little bit ago talking with Dior thing was they said Oh I did. I thought it was problematic to but I thought that if we didn't report on somebody else would. Yeah and it's like that's not a real. Yeah like no you could not reported on it or the headline is the statistical mystical methodology like with vested interest in sanitizing. This name did a survey that was clearly leading and I had like like the fact that that was a survey means the people conducting the survey had an agenda and that was to clear that name right. And it's like it's people. Yeah I mean it's just frustrating like around native issues because now like whenever anybody complains about the team name somebody. That doesn't know anything that's going to throw all be. Do you like yeah. I mean I thought I read an article that said that natives love the name or whatever it's like you know it kind of makes this thing where it's like it makes it that much harder to explain to them. Why the name is Shitty? Why like I mean you talked to like any native? I mean not like most reservations. And they'll probably be like no the names flock to. Yeah and even without I so I remember grappling a little bit with the original like article from from I think two thousand twelve issue Early like okay. Fuck fuck this and then like I think that one had similar but not quite as agree. Just like you know statistical a typical methodologies fucked up it was the same statistical missed whereas around five hundred natives are five hundred talk about okay. Yeah but the other way to look at it right because I think it's like ninety percent of those people said like it's fine right. Yeah here's the thing about it this way name another mascot that can generate ten percent disapproval for being racist. Right wins like that's very normal any any mascot typically has zero percent. Yeah people are like data. Nobody's nobody's looking at the Atlanta Falcons and yeah like wait fucked up so guess thought that even that even if even if this were actual like enrolled NATO's or whatever and they still had that number it's still is like easily ten times more than the next team name. That isn't a human being like Oh right. Even with even accepting the premise of their fucking walking flawed agenda-driven methodology. It's still fucked up right and there's also this thing that happens where like people will. I mean I feel like people. If they've got like I mean I guess like a if they've got a position on like a racial issue that they aren't necessarily in a position to speak on they'll always try to. I find like that one person that is part of that group signs it so it's like that's something that constantly see with this stuff like I mean I've flat out people say like Oh like like My friend got their DNA. Testing amount. Says they're five percent Indian and they love the team names virtue. So all you native Shutt- you know. That's something I saw like just flat flat out on twitter with like the dior like savage show perfume thing where it's like.

"Wait we Hop into a sprite. I don't know that actually that was refreshing. It was an ad bad why went down a slide and I drank a sprite like the ad WAS FOR SPRITE guys. Shits already weird. I'm Tony News. There's a show Llosa's racist my co host here is it. My name is Sandra T. We're here to talk to. You surprised by the timing. Say No because it wasn't possible because I didn't do it in a normal order. Order the show where we listen to your voice mobile questions about racism me and then with the Hubble special guests or guests damn talk it's not really words it's the shape of words. What's the rush? You have somewhere to be. Yeah that's true. You got fucking do some. You know I'm not in a huge rush in those five is happening we do. I don't know I just I'm trying to think or bad I. I haven't been fired from my job. So that's good we'll do that uh we got a new producer that we did you know him as Perhaps the composer of this show's does theme also him as a previous guests of the show he was on our Chicago. Live show when we lived in Chicago former CO host and Co creator of in the short lived here wolf show those supergroup. Rip to a king this king because he is alive. Please up Alex Kleiner kill me. It and we try. We did harder. We've tried to smother you with emails. Are You my friend. I'm so well how are you guys as Thank you for being our part time producer coming on time fan. Yeah P. F. T. F. He is here of course was fully dead to us. Zig is dead. We do not speak his name though. God wouldn't it be fun terrible. Burn if we we just called him cody from now on. We're like who'd rudy. That's too mean best. Jordan is dying also Jordan spectrum on the Mike what up girl. I'm good. How are you so you're back to engineer for US sometime? Yes we've missed you guys too. I do miss hearing about all the hot news race all the most horrible shit that has happened. Yeah so we got a full boat in in case you guys were wondering with Zig gone. Will we fall apart. The answer is yes absolutely but we will have other people to pick up the pieces so welcome to Alex. Likes welcome to Jordan. tweeted them when you don't like Shit I'm just getting everyone on. tweeted tweeted me. Go back to tweeting on me. I think that was the best. That was the finest time is when people thought that tattling to me. Yeah was the way to go about this. We don't care so what happened this week. Under where do we want to start. I guess for some reason there isn't what a ton to say about this Colin Kaepernick thing but basically it was kind of like a little. NFL publicity stunt kind of deal where he was given a workout and and and kind of fell apart and it was under conditions that were not normal and he tried to put conditions in place to protect himself self to bring media. There is on what they were trying to do. I mean it's like a thing where I it's it's to me very clear that it's Sorta the status quo with the NFL. They are pissed at him for Talking about police brutality and they colluded alluded with each other to destroy his career. And Yeah I I think that's I mean you know the football side of it is like you you know this. Two sides of the coin are sort of like he's indisputably good enough to play some part of an NFL team. Still even those kind of old and and you know whatever wasn't the the greatest quarterback maybe and but that sort of irrelevant you know. People are sort of polarizing it to look like oh you should whatever it's like he should have a the job. Yeah and the fact that he doesn't have a job is fully down to racism because he wasn't kicked out for not being a good football player player. Yeah he should have someone. There are definitely worse. quarterbacks who have jobs that's why he might not be the the best but I learned from all this. Because I'm about sports I learned. The a workout is like an audition. It's like a big like almost like the big musical theater audition people. It's like a big general as a bunch of people there Anyway meetings you have to throw football about three hundred feet. That's how you sell your pilot. Throw that football as far as you can and then. ABC Goes Greenland. What's going on in my brain? I mean what else. Oh now that we're on horrible. Asian Person Corner Fucking Neo Nazi piece of Shit. Michelle L. Malkin. I duNNo. I mean So Young America's foundation a fucking a horrible group basically A. It's it's a little bit hilarious because it's like Machel Malkin is like actually I saw. She tweeted a thing where she was at lunch. With like Andy. No or whatever the other another Asian piece of Shit Neo Nazi a supporter. They might not be no Nazis. I don't know I mean I don't really want to give oxygen other but you know she's he's basically supporting this guy. Who is a Holocaust denier and this group has decided that they are That that's too far so she's been fired from that. I guess to me is really just. It's interesting a little bit to watch like this right wing battle between like the most horrible people people on Earth and the second most horrible people on Earth Yeah I don't know I I don't know if there's that much to it. Other than the continuing tenuous conversation. That people of color can indisputably be white supremacists. I love whatever you say. Something on twitter and people are like. Oh yeah this person purposes They're not white smarty it's like it's truly the racist can do. It's really the best where they're like. You can't happy white supremacist. Or when they tell a woman that they can't be masochistic or I'm asking misogynous Jesus it's so late little. What's Yeah I meant that for commentary job? I can't think of a worse job. I would hate being journalist Speaking of that what other news is is there did you I I just. I didn't fully read or understand this will I am saying oh I read it. I went down. I aw I will I am most likely was Profiled and treated poorly on a Qantas flight by a member of the staff Because it it seems that other people on the flight do believe that they were also targeted or other people who said they witnessed it think. The flight attendant was being racist but according to him in a series of tweets. He didn't take take his headphones off soon enough. Because he's like making beats on the plane and they're like Yo you gotta take your headphones off this plane about to land. And so I. I don't know what exactly the the woman said the flight attendant. But she was Rude and targeted him and then called the police and the police grabbed him off the tarmac. And I guess other passengers had to come to his aid come to Williams. It'd be like Yo. I also want to know where the other people were in this and part-time producer. Alex at my favorite line of this he just said apple the APP silence on this is deafening Eh. It's my favorite. Take the whole thing but the thing is I think like will. I am in the midst of all this was like a Just kind of retweeting people trying to try and Garner support for the fact that he was like I shouldn't have happened to me and he was re tweeting like trolls and racists who are saying fake shit about this people like I was on the plane too. I was shivering in the bathroom. You know people were clearly like making fun of it. He was still retweeting so weakened his Claims a bit but still well. He shouldn't have the fucking cops called on him. Yeah I think that's that's the thing right. It's like okay fine. Maybe he overreacted a little bit potentially or just in the moment confused but I think there's an element of like this is what races of and look will I am. There's a special case right but the thing is you have to imagine his peers other people in presumably I fucking class Do all kinds of rule bending and they do not have the force of the law throwing because that's that's the sort of thing right. It's like if everyone had every actual law enforced upon them. We we would live in a fascist. You know police state and it's it's that like you see where the rules are bent for. People is where I'm I'm like. That's what one one I dunno pillar of white supremacy is is like how much leniency that like white people get like this. Where are again Goddamn will if I am an safe? None of us are white. People are fine uh-huh why people you can keep your headphones on. Fly The plane talking on your cell phone if you want. Yeah well Sorry just petered out. We have a very depressing story I I don't know a fucking quadriplegic kid was pinned. A fifteen year old kid was pinned by to Saad Cop BLACKHEAD needless to say why Cobb needless to say I mean. Yeah Yeah is there any world where at least it feels like maybe there will be some type of if that justice at least something towards awards justice this also. This child is in a group home so you know children with even fewer advocates for them. Yeah it's just yeah. It's hard. The videos really tough to watch I don't know what to say when things are this depressing. Obviously this person person can't fight back and just watching get pinned down like that. It's like why why why. Why is the COP? They're like such a clear indicator that like this cop doesn't think like this cop wouldn't treat a dog like that. You know what I mean. This is is this is someone who If and by all measures there's there's just no need to do that and the fact that the seems it's like acceptable to this racists. Cop I mean look Arizona Cops Nia just racist also like the person at the group home who called called the COP Look I understand pumps. Don't get enough support so they were probably at their wit's end a little bit if they believe that this person needed help or was acting out in a way. Why is that Wia cops? The the call Why isn't there and I don't know enough about the system? But why isn't there Someone else who can help this person. Who's clearly but that's right? That's the situation for people of Color in general but like that's lower lower income people in homes. It's like you know people way smarter than us can tell you about how you know. School to prison is just thing. And this is just one other cog in that fucking fucking bullshit. This is a pretty petty moment in the Washington. Post article they just. This is the top of a paragraph says at the videos. Start a white deputy in wraparound on sunglasses such they I like how they just in a very factual dry journalist way call out that. He's fucking wrap around sunglasses. Let letting people know he's racist kind of copy is they'll sunglasses man they're rough. We should've ended on the will. Im Story happy. None of it's fun. It's all bad what's not bad. I've been killing it on. Turn around and say respect from downtown downtown if nothing else you gotta respect my ability to just keep talking until I change the subject. Just say the opposite of the thing that that happened before the thing that was bad is now good because we talked with well. I didn't but you talked with Joey clift. Jesus Christ just save me from this or altered fide we are doing great. Yeah it was. It was as always great to have joey here continuing native American heritage minds and as we talk about in the thing You know it's just always great to talk to Joey I don't know he's he's is one of our all time favorite guest. He's got so much fucking going on. yeah. Here's Joey.

"The os racist podcast. My name is andrew. We start with well special guest of here with special guest cohost joey clift. That's right. It's me joey very very very kindly agreed to step in because tawny can't make it for re. I don't actually know how much or little all i should say. Probably let's just say she got cast in the new star wars movie. Maybe good live as a joke but like maybe i was gonna say i wrote a by her but i'll just go ahead and say she may have there may be an international incident. She she was taught he was involved in an international incident and we'll have to leave it at that. Yeah definitely find out in a future wrap appa. What the or a hundred percent not but either way. We're not gonna talk more about it now. That's producer on the mike and mike. I'm all right. I'm on. I just hear no one knows what's happening. Maybe a tease for future episodes. I don't literally who does what i'm a co host yeah. I'm a guest hi joey. Thank you so much for for things open. Out man is <hes> great yarmouth hope that the national incident is okay a. Ah we'll find out we'll find out well in the u._n. The u._n. Will really been taken either the hard way or the jesus but you're gonna be here anyway. Well okay. Did we say racist the show. We're talking about racism do a little news answer. Your racism questions questions faulk guys game to this together entry very out now just for the record andrew walking the studio wearing shorts and he was very. Are you concerned about not only do. I don't have pants but i also forgot to bring my laptop. Just like you know. Podcasts are audio medium. I'm not not one thing worked. Holy god anyway but joey. You're you're actually gonna be on. We were trying to thing that we hadn't and i don't think we've ever done before which is like you actually had a news thing that you wanted to talk about like. Fuck it why why wait to have joey on as a guest to talk about this thing wall so i have a my guest later point but why not just come in so you're going to come in for this news rap segment anyway and now you defend unexpectedly created a for me. It's like i showed up at the time. I was supposed to yeah yeah. I couldn't even do that. Oh i caught up on our lives. It was great so the news story radio. I'm your bucket so <hes> the new story <hes> the <hes> if you saw this on twitter the blueprints d._r._a. Like fashion company released <hes> like a new fragrance line. I think the frigging line is actually been around since two thousand fifteen twenty or something like that. It's kind of the main guy for the centerpieces. Johnny depp and it's pronounced savage and the line recently got a lot of flack a couple of days ago for <hes> releasing a campaign video directly tying the names savage to like native american imagery so savage is essentially french for savage which as we all know is the word that the government used to justify the genocide of native american people that i will say a little bit by favorite was the people jumping in in your replies when you tweeted about this could also mean like wild and that's what the vet does it help but even that like like i was thinking about that because it's like okay like you know maybe maybe there is some weird like cultural disconnect here but <hes> d._r. Is a like sixty billion dollars. The international brand international very successful brand and also like i mean the amount of like first nations people that i know that were like there. Were like telling me in the tweeting tweeting about like the sabotage was used as a slur against them in french canada. It's not like people like everybody in the renew that this was not a cool thing to reflect us native people yeah i mean look i think even allowing these masses who got into your twitter mentioned to talk about or other places he says it's like does that actually make it better to call native people wild because that also was a justification. I mean that's their murder also yeah. We glad i mean like all this is just like the it's the dehumanisation of native american people which like kind of led to like making people feel like less than so like you you know cowboys and she felt justified in their slaughter so like yeah i mean anything and like the like talk about <hes> <hes> like a side side of this story that people are bringing up like oh dior they you know they talked to cultural consultants. They they know they had a couple of native american actors in the shoes so like shirley early <hes> they gave it a pass so it should be fine but like every native american person in that. They're like a native actress. That's like you know like wearing wearing fur and like crouched touched in the bushes. It's like johnny. Depp is the only like you know. I guess i could say treated like a human treated like nod an animal and also like doc. Johnny depp to his credit like around the ranger movie came out <hes> the comanche nation did like adopted into their tribe so it's like there is an an argument who made that he's native based on that but still it's like maybe a guy. That's been comanche for eight. Years isn't the guy to be the spokesperson for up. Brand called savage savage. Yeah like yeah you know <hes>. It's just there's a lotta bullshit. There's like there's ten feet of bullshit on the stories. She's as christ's yeah. Well fuck it. Let's is there any i mean came up. It's sort of a pervasive thing in the media like native people are uniformly associated with you know some version of primitiveness like described in adjectives that normally used to describe animals molded noble store like yeah it is i mean it's a torah fine. Yeah it just playing into this concept of like my whole all thing like <hes> <hes> like a native american comedy writer. I like i work in the entertainment industry kinda yeah and <hes> i guess that i i've been very focused. Lately in a a lot of native hollywood is hyper aware of like putting native american people on television and movies in contemporary roles retreated as people because basically the only roles that are allowed allowed to have our feather roles where it's like. We look like we're like something from the seventeen hundreds out of like a jar tolkien book or something you know <hes> and <hes> <hes> things like this <hes> you know like an ad campaign for a perfume called savage with like native people being kind of the centerpiece of it that doesn't help and this stuff also leads to like damage among native people because there's like pretty much no contemporary natives in the media. There's very very few contemporary natives in the media. We don't necessarily have like role models that we can look up to select native people like if you look at you know you could look at this and think oh that's just that's just a shitty add whatever you know but like <hes> because there aren't really any other native american people in the media like native people people tend to graduate high school at the lowest rate of any ethnicity they tend to graduate like they tend to enroll in college lowest rate of any ethnicity like suicide rates among native is the highest among any ethnicity st and like all of this and like you look at research about this there have been studies about this are like directly related to the fact that like there's you know we feel like we have no hope because yeah we don't see there's no other way and so we feel like oh. This is the only thing for us light like yeah. It's like if you think about it. I think like the percentage attendance thing is an interesting way of framing of it. It's like you know this ad frankly probably represents like a whole number percentage yeah of the any amount of native representation at all inland twenty yeah exactly yeah yeah. It's like the racist native the american sports mascots are like seventy percent of yeah and then <hes> this ad is like probably ten percent. It's like a number. It's like a real ass. No it's not like point zero zero whatever hey name <hes> any other natives that you've seen on t._v. This year yeah yeah and if if that number is is like around twenty five percent which most americans have probably watched one episode of westworld and the like and neither were great. I think i mean in westworld lake. I think we talked about this a little westworld first season real bad second season. I feel like they they got a lot of flack on social media and tried to make good so like this was the second part of the thing we were talking about before we started recording is like what d- are d._r._a. Is your i don't know what they did. After the the backlash like dior they posted this <hes> ad campaign where i think that i think that they referred to this as like like a like. A wild natural natural sent to represent all of native americans or something like that okay you keep talking. I'll pull up yeah yeah. It's literally like how they promote it so there was like no no like hedging bets and no like maybe they didn't mean it that way like this is what they're multi million dollar campaign was about and i mean like what they did was they released video that like directly tied like savage to native american people with like johnny depp as the front runner for it and they got rightfully so a lot of flack on social media and <hes> d._r._a. Sue their credit. They kind of deleted the videos from social media. They like scrubbed native mercury from their site but they didn't apologize again like a and that's something where like just a lot of my friends are really frustrated about is lake nick other just pretending it didn't happen yeah and it's like because of that. It's like nobody's gonna learn anything from this. Yeah just yeah i. The part part of me is like we're in a weird time when you you kind of imagined like like you're absolutely absolutely correct and yet i also feel like i guess not credit. Where credit is due situation. What it is like for a multi-million at least they didn't not change it or audit is like a c. Plus like yeah. It's a good enough or you know or the other. I mean the other side of the washington d._c. N._f._l. Team team that has gone the other way of just knowing down natives love this yeah <hes> at the very least didn't double down so yeah. It's like right. It's like depressing fuck is it's not good enough but it's better than better could've done. They've shown the slightest bit of yeah yeah yeah exactly at least like it's never happened yeah but it's like i mean yeah something. That's a real shame about. This is like you know they talked to you. Native american consultancy firm about this they hired native actors to play the roles of natives and <hes> a few of the native actors have kind of gone on social media basically just to talk about their experiences is with it and like something that you that i saw with the <hes> the actress who was wearing for kind of like crashed in the in the bushes was basically saying when i i was offered this role i had to spend several days deciding as to whether i would feel okay with myself by taking it and her response was that she did not feel okay taking it but she knew that if she said no they would still do it yeah so she felt like if she was at at least doing the part yeah then like she could maybe from set like steer things in some different directions and i think that that's the thing that like i'm sure like all i like people. Call her onset like news..

"There folks welcome to another episode of the cracks podcast. Ask the podcast all about why being alive is more interesting than people think it is. My name is alex. Schmidt number had podcasting here at cracks also known as many of clam also known as schmidt e the champion but i am also also pretty sure the most positive twitter development of all time happened a few weeks back we we lived through it. We did it because here's that. That story is an actor. You probably know the name of now if you're if you're a big fan of marvel movies i knew him from the delightful canadian family sitcom kim's convenience genius where he plays the son that everybody's seen it anyway. Here's what he tweeted at twelve fifty four p._m. On december third of twenty eighteen quote okay at marvel marvel comma. Are we gonna talk or what hashtag shanxi and quote and then i'm past july twentieth. Mr lee replied to his own tweet tweet with the following quote well shit and quote. That's the whole thing and that's self exchange happened because in the intervening months marvel cast cmo leo <music> as the superhero shanxi main character of a marvel cinematic universe phase four film and i don't know if twitter magic was actually how the the casting happened and or it's just like a public version of private normal casting kind of thing either way it leads us into today's topic. We are talking about shockingly important near-misses near misses of the marvel cinematic universe one more time that is shockingly important near misses of the marvel cinematic universe. Yes just like an avengers episode. It's gonna be very fun and here's one way being alive is more interesting than people think it is. Within the past eleven years from the two thousand eight iron man movie to now marvel constructed the most complex interlocking series of movies and i think film history i haven't been convinced there's different one and that process over those eleven years had about a billion potential wrong turns along the way or just different turns along the way along with tons of key moments that happened because of one phone call or or one changed mind or like that story one tweet we are partly doing this because we're not too far off the heels of <hes> of that sort of avengers cycle completing itself and the newest spiderman movie that carries it forward. We're also taping this because we have the best guests to talk to about it. One of them has cracked editor columnist and so much more or syriac lamar. He's one of my guests today and i'm so excited to talk to him because he knows his comics <hes> he knows a lot of things he has depths and range at comics in particular hillier are one of the things he is great on because he's been reading these things forever and he's been reading them with an eye to exactly how they work and exactly how one artistic cystic movement or one business decision builds on another you've heard him on past episodes of the show about comics and i'm so glad he's back and i'm also joined by joey clift a very very funny comedy writer and comedian. He's an internet comedy professional. He also put up a u._c._b. Improv show not too long ago and it had the following title. All seventy six characters from avengers infinity war do a mono seen together. That was the name of the show. I don't know if you know what motto scenes are. That's a that's an improv thing where where the whole improv happens in one room or one moment more or less so he really piled them in it was sort of a loving parody of how this cinematic the universe has been put together because he's a very funny person who also thinks about this universe quite a bit perfect guest for talking about how it all almost went totally different and that's all set up you need so please set back or stand in a circle with your fellow avengers while the cameras circles around you like a big looping thing you've seen jeff event as as the thing i'm from the first avengers movie. We all get it. I really feel like that cemented the entire thing like that moment. The entire world was like okay. We could use twelve more of these movies. Let's do it and either way. Here's this episode of the crash podcast with joey clift and syriac.

"I mean pistachios on Mike. Eat those potassium. Oh, we're back. We have some new friends. Joey Clift had to go guys for our new friends who are here. We've solved racism recap. Yeah. One thousand episodes. It's all done it solved. And so we're just thank you. Yeah. We had a lot of people applaud for us in the streets walking in here. But parade was you know, a lot. But but it was under stated in classy needed. We needed to do it your people a good feeling I feel so now we have these lovely guests on who as we were talking about earlier. Oftentimes when these people are on podcast, you probably feel like you have to talk about your other hood, quite a lot. Whereas like white people don't have to. And so we're trying to now give space where all of us. We don't have to do that. And we can just talk about the the white podcast talk about. And so we're going to go through some items. But before we do that some items for what our new show is going to be about before we do that. We have to ensure our new people. We sure do take it away. Let's see very very funny. Standup writer. We'll stand up yet. Tallest man in the room at the moment. Yes. Just just very, very handsome. Boy saw Giorgio is here. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Everybody's bopping around. Solomon. You were guest before I was opposed. But I'm so excited to meet you in the in the person that you that you're here. I'm happy to finally meet you as well.
