"I want to ask you writing the watch list later this week and I don't want to spoil all the players are going to be on there. I mean, you know, it's the younger players similar to what we've done every year. I just want to ask, if you had to tell me one guy who's not on the list this year, you know, you've been scouting these rookies. You've watched the Bon caros and the home grins and way more than I have. Which jabari Smith, which rookie are you most confident is going to be on the list next year. If you had to pick one. If I had to pick one, I would say Keegan Murray. Really? I think he's really good right now. Because he's kind of the most controversial pick of the draft, was he not? Yeah, maybe not to me. I don't see a problem with that at all. I just think he well, I mean, you didn't watch him play it, I would all probably. But basically, I was not watching a lot of Iowa bats. It was freshman year at Iowa. He was a redshirt freshman. So he was old. But he was like, they had Luca Garza and they had Joey's camp who were both really, really good players. And so Keegan was coming off the bench not playing a ton, but was always really impactful in his minutes. Like when you watch closely and it was like pretty obvious when you watch them closely that he was the best prospect. They didn't play him a lot, which led to him coming back to school because I don't think he had enough quite enough traction to definitively go. But then he came back and he was just a monster and exceeded expectations. As a star and we didn't know if he could do that and then all of a sudden he was like this high usage guy so one year he's a great defender, great role player. The next year he proves he can be a really, really good high efficiency high volume up and some player. Now we see him at summer league and he's added a pretty consistent three point shot. And you know that he's playing with other stars. It's like this game is his game is clearly very malleable. He's a little bit older, which is okay in this case because he's probably going to play right away and I don't know if he'll jump Harrison Barnes and like start or I don't know if they're going to play bar and simonis and Keegan together. I assume they'll try. But this dude can play with anybody. He's going to produce. You don't have to run a ton of plays for him.

"That you have hurt for them this year. I'd say that one person that i'm really excited You're watching c. Play bit more tony perkins For sure i think you know. Barring you know it's kind of tough you know just playing behind somebody who's in the nba. Now joey camp Didn't get as much time which is a good problem to have when you're on a team but I think i'm really looking forward to seeing him. You know grow have the have a chance to really propelled his career. And i mean he's just crazy athletic really high dr And you always push me better. So i was really impressed with him and i think aaron as well i've been It was really impressed with him in his ability to run the show and just see him really developed this past year. i think. I'm looking forward to seeing him on the court with the lights off nickless. You guys think you're they're playing with. Obviously joe in and luca and then you watch the career and you coached him last year. What was draft night light for you watching two guys that you know well that you've seen grow and improve their games. It drafted special anytime you get to see. Some of your close friends like their life goal. You'll be achieved then. Now it's one thing to have it be achieved but also you know with a rather large audience and you know. I think just being around joe being luca there wherever they landed they were gonna make the most out of it and being a good spot but Was just thrilled for both of them. They work so hard. I've seen a both as a player and then on staff you'll see how hard they worked in Just throw them. That looks like they're in good spots now and have a chance to succeed so You know get into your friends. Get their life. Goals achieved in that. Also grow new. Goals it mike. What's the challenge. Plant point guard per frame mccaffrey. What's kind of tough. 'cause he's he was a point guard so he's going to be more demanding of his point guard now for sure in you know throughout my career. I just got to know exactly what he wanted You know as some of the frustrations. I think as with him being a freshman point guard and i would say in high school. I was more of a score and then kind of grew into that pass. I roll In college but now it's it's definitely challenged. He holds his his point guards to a high standard And i i love that about him and he just was able to give so many little tips here and there throughout practices throughout games. He's experienced a of stuff not only as a coach as a player. But yeah definitely high standards for point make can you be winger for so long and then really take the plink out of yourself and be a shooting guard so jordan says he's gonna he's gonna move over it and and not be a pointer can you can you do that. Aren't you always bring or. Is that something that they can actually have If you if you'd watch my bettendorf sealy games. You know you could go back to get the shots alien. You can get jordan moving and being a two guard. I know that's the plan on paper. It makes sense. Is it as easy as to guard or is there going to be processed in adjustment. I'm in a couple of things there. i mean. He still going to be a point. Guard out there playing the to Kind of like when me and sap would play together or me and marble You know we're kind of both playing the one And then you know jordan. He's a really smart player He he knows what he's doing that he knows how to play both positions. I see no problem with that. I think he's gonna i think he's going to have an awesome year He's one of the best shooters in a big ten and i'm excited to see that. I hope these other guys can create more for him so that he can just continue to get open shots. I think the last few years playing point He's had to create more for himself. I'd love to see other guys create for him. Get more publicity guys. Nicholas first and then mike most looking forward to this year. But i will basketball. What's most interesting for you. I think you know what's always kind of interesting to me is just seeing rotations. That's one thing. I'll be looking forward to cnn. You know one thing. I have always appreciate about coach. Mccaffrey as you know if you deserve to play. Then you're gonna play so. I've always loved that about him And i think there are quite guys who are deserving of minutes this year so i mentioned to see how that plays out individually. I'm also excited just get back carbohydrate arena with some fans That's what i'm most looking forward to Got a few games. I'll definitely be going just live in an hour. Deputy around so It'll be a whole new experience for me personally. But i'm just excited to see how this Team plays out. Now they got a bunch of great kids. Sounds like a lot of different parts in different talents and really excited to see how some of these new and upcoming freshmen or people who have played as much they contribute. I'm just i'm excited. Actually get to games slash of sucks. Not being able to go having to watch on on tv every game But the thing. I'm most excited for is seeing these guys step into different roles You know you have guys like joe and and luca last year who i mean rightfully so had the ball in their hands a lot and it kind of. There's a lot of other guys that have talent on this team and without them On the roster anymore they'll have to really flourish into new roles and i think There's a whole lot of town on this team. And i think they have a chance to be really good. I i really do it nicholas. How how good is that keegan. Murray gonna how good can he be. you know. He's kind of playing a similar role that you play Last your team he. He kind of filled the the bear role. So what do you think of him. I personally. I don't think our names should be uttered in the same sentence with how much talent he has I think these capabilities be special player. is i mean. I know preseason first team all big time which you know not to say that preseason rankings are everything or anything by those means but i think the one challenge i do see for him as which is fairly common would be your last year. He was probably more like the fifth or sixth option. Whereas this series definitely gonna be a top option along with likely jordan So i think you know it senile. He'll be able to adapt to defense. You know guarding him differently and pay more attention to him. I mean just with his with his size. Strength is energy level and a skill. Set the sky's limit for him and think he's definitely not to be a key player this year. But i'm i'm as excited to get a chance to watch him Cnn she's developed in grown Now looking forward to seeing this year. That's the thing about iowa basketball. There's always that feel good story. And it's been kagan last year round People expected cj frederick to be as good as he was this richmond year. There was that was. That was exactly. Is that you kind of talked about. Josh perkins already nicklaus but per tony birks. I'm sorry take me is that is there. Feel good stories. And what is it about this program is that a is that a friend. Mccaffrey having an eye talent. Maybe people not knowing what people are there and is there that feel-good story this year that guy that if we stay here in march we'll say ban. Who would have sold that coming. They've been.

"Yeah. I'm very confused. Right. I didn't know that there were earthquakes in Australia either. Well, you were in LA for many years. Okay. I've been told that apparently earthquakes happen like once every ten years, this is year ten. So yeah, apparently this is your ten. Wow. On the air. How much of this will stay in? I don't know. Earthquake kega Murray talk literally created the earth the quake in Australia. Yeah, Keegan Murray break down has caused an earthquake in Australia folks. This is the real deal. We have an earthquake. That's wild. Keegan Murray, we think that he can shoot a little bit, right? You saw like 30% from three last year? That's a little, but he's comfortable taking it. It's still kind of like a weird push shot, though. Yeah. The release points can be a little unorthodox. He's not a complete project either. The dribbles kind of high kind of loose sees his versatile two way guy. I like him in 6 9 long arms like his length, like how he can switch. I was going to have to need to a guy throwing their offense through too with Luca Garza gone. Joey's camps go on CJ Frederick's gone. He kind of slides into that role naturally. So he's gonna have the opportunity to showcase these offensive skills and scoring that I'd say last year. He was always in the right place at the right time and I'd say that setting all those screens in all those reads they have for their shooters, he gained a better understanding of slipping and knowing when to steal some points of the defenders over play or sticking behind the zone. So it's only going to add to what he's able to do. It seems people are really high on him and I'm still waiting for his next leap to come to. Yeah, the more I've kind of thought about the profile with Keegan Murray, the more I'm like a little bit more hesitant, I guess, on him. Not to say that people are wrong to be enthusiastic because I think that he just creates a lot of across the board production. And from what I've heard, like, very, very high level kid. About the right things, works hard. Parents like really instilled a positive energy with him and like a positive work based mindset. So I feel good about that part of it, but. Break out 21 year old going into 21 and a half year old season..

"A lot of a lot of focus on the defensive line for iowa because if they can shut down the run game that makes the that's the the dream fulfilled. Parker make you one dimensional. Make you have to do things that help you. Know the no dial up blitzes some people around get different pressures. Go to the raider package. And then you've got And then you get turnover chain going one thing. I will know about both secondaries as they are both pretty experienced they've got in the senior and a junior and corner and to senior safeties so one of the guy that they did pick up the You know probably going to be in the mix is western kramer I think he was than i. You And he's a graduate student at came in i. Just you know we're talk. Magic have a little talk. minute but We're talking about him before the show so he's another guy the to to watch they've they've got They got a lot of experience on on defensive side of the ball. So i think it's gonna be a really interesting game to to watch Let's stay with the defense of wine tyler to rubber or driver. I'm sorry tyler terrible famous that you'd be on tv saying dude ever heard when you're not good at saying them but Yes how how is locally looking back on the defensive line before you answer that. I am on and we'll stay on and continue to drive. The logan lay train Just because he's such a good dude such a hard worker. I'd have to talk to media day. He seemed very excited. I think with him. It's all about how it would be a stud. I know this year. Will he contribute this year. Tom yeah i think you will. I think you'd better the gas to and i think it continued to grow still only a redshirt sophomore so two more years after this John wagner seems comfortable and everything. I've heard about him is that he's ready to take that next. Step maybe this year. Maybe linked kirk on his radio show. Today he's been maybe the most impressive actors player on defense eventually can see logan -ly things coming together and clicking injuries. What got him so. I am very biased. I am on record. Is that so. This is not the same. As my joey camp expert prediction. That was a home run and and will be famous for years and years to come I'm on the locally trained. What have you heard about him. What are you hearing coaches and your thoughts on guy that you like do i. Do i do a big locally guy so zone logan lane. So we're big fans right chip hiller. That's so The i think. I think logan's going to be fine. I think he's gonna be in the rotation. I think he'll get plenty of work. Probably twenty five snaps. Twenty twenty five snaps on on saturday. Get out there And make an impact. Like i know he's wanted to be out there so Pretty excited for him. I think he's he's going to do well this year. I think he's going to be a part of what what i was gonna do. Defensively Because i'm just you know like kirk was kind of hinting at it. Seems like you know. Shannon wasn't did practice the day they had opened practice so they didn't work so We don't use come back from something in way. Black was coming back something. So i think they're going to have to lean on lucas van. Assen and logan lee a little bit early in the year to get until those guys get up to up to speed. And then maybe they get logan jones. Back the second half of the year after that patella injury so Maybe another body there at looking at the twitter the twitter is the mold There's a few ones we can talk about later on when it comes back and stuff when it comes to stuff outside of the football realm of things. So you have. We'll do our gambling here in a second. I'm excited about that. But i and i didn't read your fearless forecast that he did but i don't remember the final score and what about this game because usually like switch things up. Halfway between i won't know iowa wins by I'm going to say You know iowa is a three and a half point favorite right now. So i'm gonna say i will win. Twenty seven twenty one okay. I'm why do i think i am twenty. Were to twenty. My hat can be. But i think that we'll talk lines here in a second but i would feel better not having the on that and having it. Just be a three. I do think iowa wins the football game. I think i will better win the football game because of not as was shown them next week. So you are are. You is definitely going to be in a dog next week. Yeah so you just suggested the by the hook. Yeah i would okay. Let's gambling later. I just think that. I think i the football game. I think it'll be a really good football game. I think it's too good football teams. I think it'll be a great atmosphere but just in the end fans mechanics in two years. I think it's a. It's a dogfight throughout but i think iowa and that field advantage gives them enough at the end and they get the upper win in which. It's going to be a big environment tom. And it's a it's a big environment for not just for not just football but for for recruiting as well Let's get to that second but will talk. Wendy recruiting i. You wanna talk about the hot is in the. Nfl let's do. Let's do recruits. That's kind of this weekend. So how all. The ball is a good number of guys on campus including two five stars. They'll the bio. They happened to both be going. Southeast polk so debut is The the stud safety initiatives class and it feels like he's down to iowa notre dame ohio state at this point so You know the that's going to be his decision. He's gonna take an official dial but he's coming over for the game on saturday too so You know. I know a lot of people. Think maybe i was in the back seat. Not in the front seat with with him but he keeps showing up in iowa city and their sales pitch to him is somewhat name. Image likeness related. It is like you know. Go to ohio state or notre dame probably not it's crowded crowded space for name image and likeness money. But if you stay in state roy you could be the king make a lot of money. So that's pitched to him probably getting the same pitch to practice. Who's the other five-star junior that they're gonna have on campus so huge getting him on both those guys on campus also Making unofficial camera fat. Tom real fast. The invention people thinking that i was in the back seat or whether the thought process with proctoring now is what's yours i mean i don't know what if there's no light scoreboard in recruiting. But where what's the vibe with with his situation right now he's wide wide open. He just doesn't seem to have narrowed that field at all. He's kind of taken. It and i think the summer some the pressure that he's gonna feel. I think it started to show up for the first time.

"Harrington i remember when he was getting drafted same deal was like joe egerton road three knows how to play. The piano does he. Does he get quick. It as we get a given soundcheck celtic joe. Joey go ahead the piano. You read whatever you're ready to just play. Play play for uber eighties. Jolt go ahead. Go shouts closeouts anything else before. Go man i just wanna shout out the fact that you know. Abc took over this nba draft experience. And it was totally different than any experience i've ever seen. It felt like i was watching. You know how you were in the server space jam to. I felt like i was in. Abc disney servers while they did the nba draft and that was very hilarious and Thank you to all the actors who chimed in throughout the broadcast. We need we need to convince fox to counter programming. Where are the haters coverage of eight over. Just 'cause abc espn two nights to say this. I'll be nasty. I would've literally fallen out of my chair. When he got he got showed me on the back of my head exploded when he gets there. Just does josh giddy past the. I don't have a name for it but the test. I gotta pick a small town. They be terre. Haute indiana about the tara tara ho tests. Does he pass the tests where he's not from australia. And he's just a guy from tarot. Deanna named josh giddy. Is he taking six forty joey camp. Joey joey's campus jose. We use came from republic this. I'm so happy got drafted though. I told you. I told you if i'm a gm. I'm fired over. Joey gift i wasn't i'm not taking it. I might have right now is like yes. I'm taking if i have if i have twenty five to thirty five a pick in there. I was dating. Joey's camping and i was like i honestly if i get fired i'll go down with the ship. I don't care if i was the utah jazz. I would have literally walked out there. I would have made them play. A highlight of all the threes. I made this year and nba record. And then i would have picked always camp and they had the moment. We're not done yet. You know what i mean. We're coming back shoot more threes and guess what nobody. Everyone's everyone's like that doesn't solve your problem that you couldn't stop them and you're like oh it doesn't matter or more threes four shots. We're going to make shots. Meanwhile we learned that that is not what I wanna shout up baubles. Be who is the big twelve and Is in a sticking foot on a beach. I wanna give him a shout solely for his signature which is making the rounds this week as the one of the most absurd signatures. I've ever seen if you know what i'm talking about. Go look it up you just basically just. I can't even describe it. How would you describe this. A bunch of curse of tease. It looks like a bunch you know no but it sounds kind of like trump's. Oh yeah yeah. it is. Trump like trump's now donald trump's signature. Look look look. Look up the signature. It's preposterous but i don't know if it's easy to it is. It is similar to trump's versus like let's just flick my wrist like up and down a bunch and then he like jim cross. He never had he never learned how to use cursive. So just seen it on paper so he's just go up and down and up and down and then crossed the get out of here so I wanted to shout him out for that. Moment of levity as your conferences employed in that was i was gonna say the fleas of the century. The american conference is sitting over here. And now they're going to be the power conference like what a move like. East carolina is now in a power conference. The big twelve could have easily just taken. The texas schools and kept the big twelve to lane isn't a better situation than kansas. The head coach of tonight or kansas. Right now 'cause. Kansas not a power conference to it is candy. Canes in the american is going to be fun though. I think we officially made the american great again. that's why science is final. Stout shutout a floyd mayweather and the money team. Our an eighteen point come from behind victory in the basketball tournament against a team called carman's crew. Did you see this. Did you did not state alumni team up by eighteen at home at home played played on ohio state's campus the new facility. They built on a case. Shot though not at the shot but it was certainly if it wasn't on campuses in columbus there up eighteen in the second half and they blow it and they lose and they're out of the tournament and john dabbler is officially retired. He's officially. I called them for comment. He said i said john is this. Like i feel like you've retired more than vince. Carter at this point. Yeah yeah how many how many he said i'm officially dun dun dun three. It's over nice thing dolan contract somewhere like some sort of semi pro contract. I win out by career. Would outlast john. So i don't know if the wilmington's dogs still exist. They are a semi pro team in wilmington north carolina. And i can make that call for you. I can get you the dogs. I could outlast. Greg ode professional career and john dealers professional career that who really is the winner as we said the winter. Yes you told me this Is that it. i think. That's it all right overdid on license to the nba. Adam silver. you've done it again. You've put on an agreed draft. You are that's way. You're the best commissioner in sports and thank you for all that you do for all of us What what a what a night it was is there. Is it over yet. Should we refresh it one more time to get a final check. Your yeah who's the last pic- ziga ralph ski gut draft luna garza to the pistons. Getting traded garza cade cunningham. That's pretty good for college basketball. That's great for college basketball at in k. Coney him on this draft garza by the way. There's no way that guy comes in for a workout and you leave and you're like that guy does not deserve to get drafted now. We'll see what happens. I think he'd find his five the bigger back so for him. You're asking me. Sam said he was going to get ski. Yeah oh mama. Coolish villi goes to the patients always trade to the box. Nevermind i the last thing that i think should get drafted that i haven't heard yet is a petrous of. Oh yeah i that seems to me like a guy. When we're talking about yolk you know. He went to the sixers number fifty boom right there. We get drafted. Yeah see it right in front of me. I didn't even know that. Who's e whose left. Now wait washington. I just saw boston cope via just got drafted to stay. That's that's a name that i had Also my board. I i as i look at the yokich generation. A big bonus generation bigs. I'm like you get the eastern european bigs in here and let a pass around and and see if it works so petrosa. I like it you should if i hear. Here's a here's a hot ticket. If you play less than.

"And so stanford like lost in the wilderness of north carolina. And then they go back and they can't practice and they can't play in their arena their play in santa cruz so i just wanted to bring it up like desire if you're watching his his tape if you're breaking down stats and you're like why is it like the guy. I don't think it's a fair shake. I don't know what's going to happen next with them. I do think he's a little passive. I think i would love to see him he. He's he's way too nice of a kid like we met him and talk to him for a little bit. And i i saw enough to be like your way too nice but i don't know that he had some guys can turn it on and be a killer on the court it'd be a nice guy off but he's super you thought he was going to number one for second second yourself into last year. Yeah i don't. I was just gonna say i was going to clarify. I didn't. I don't mean going into the draft tonight. This phony the star the season. We watched him warm up. And this is you know. We're in the building cajones jones in the building going. Nineteen greg brown. Who i don't even know if greg brown what the hell happened a great. What happened to greg brown. You know but as we watched williams. I looked you and i was like i think we have a pack twelve number one pick and i was wrong because we did. We did but it wasn't zaire williams. Evan mobely so. I apologize to our listeners that i got them confused but i also got confirmation that the hornets would have taken him at eleven. So in the grizzlies didn't take him ten. He would've gone at eleven. Which yeah i mean so you if you know teams are already ready to take him there. And if he goes in a situation with jaw and has stephen adams to being an enforcer if he can kind of just be on an island and and not have the pressure can almost be like michael porter. Jr. situation you know where he has zero pressure because he's the fourth option on this area and therefore he's he's the best fourth option in the nba. Probably we're talking about natural talent so that that could be really good. Spousal by the way. Greg brown forty third to the pelicans but then they are trading that to the blazers so great brown to the blazers forty l. Me when it's done. We had a run in the second round. Thirty eight goes to the bulls which by the way i felt like he obviously fell very far and should hire so thank. You came across wig for. I would assume his draft stock. You son of a bitch then namias quaeda who probably played for the g. league nineteen then throw that one out but then at forty. We had jerry baller. Forty-one joe forty two isaiah livers forty-three. Greg forty four to the debts kessler edwards pepperdine guy. Wow so that is huge for college basketball and that kind of a sweet spot of the draft You know being able to find a guy like santos you call. Joey's camp and you say. I got a two way contract for you joe with campus. Sign that you know. He's excited about the greg brown. I think would be excited about that. So that's good. I tell you anything else. Like i guess we could just wrap it up do you want to. Should we do a i. Did this exercise what we watch two different broadcasts. So i wrote down like one thing i wanted to. I remember doing this last year because we were laughing. So hard about bruce parole Doing this interview and sinker accounts. That i asked you what you would put in the time capsule if you could pick one thing one moment one whatever of the twenty twenty one draft. What was the one thing that you think you'll remember when if the twenty twenty one draft was the blank draft you know like oh yeah that was the that was the draft when blank happened. What do you think is like the most memorable boy. We watch treated for broadcast. Answer it. yeah. I think it's you know to put it in basketball terms the frame. It that way i think is jalen this. The jalen suggs draft. This is We were remember that you know. We might not even remember scotty. Barnes went in front of jalen suggs. Because i don't think it's going to be like scotty. Barnes has a disastrous type career. But i think jalen suggs goes to orlando and makes them a real contender and they have like a real culture down there and they have all these you know long talented weavings but now they have kind of a general and they look really good then. We're all going to be like man. I can't believe jalen slugs went fifth in this draft. That's insane and so that that to me is kind of like the watershed moment. The most shocking thing that happened to me Was josh christopher going twenty four. I was shocked by that. I really was. I did not expect not not not anything about josh. Christopher but one was. Good for. Bobby bobby. Hurley can know early and mike ski. Both had guys drafted williams. Before roy williams hate to see it but the coach play that he claimed jalen johnson. They did say duke when he walked out which i thought was like. Oh we sure duke. Play this beautifully because you both. He gets to blame. Jalen johnson leaving on the reason who didn't make the tournament but then also claim jalen johnson is the first round pick genus moved by k. That's why it's the best ever do it. Also the hawks are hilarious because they're basically like we can't sign cambridge. So we're just gonna get another duke forward with him if he works even notices. I would say that. That's a good answer i would say for me. It's definitely burkan strategy to find the clue watch it. I always want to rewatch it. Have you seen the clip. So i'd also would put like his face like while he was struggling through it. You know the screen circuit winners losers winners. How about that you already. You already said the jury said your winners. Yeah yeah i would say. My biggest loser is spike lee. I think that that's the only thing to say. Spike lee being there watching Kyw jones get selected by the knicks. Him celebrating that that is going to the hornets winner michael jordan as always The guy's been killing it in the nba draft. Recently mitch cup check. Also mitch. I apologize for bothering you all these days saying that. You should draft day ron sharpe. You should have iran sharp because he knew what he was gonna do. It's gonna take jones because he listened to the podcast so he knew what. I really wanted the texts. That was all that was all aside show. We got our guy. Yeah and i think another winter jalen johnston how the hell it was the first round. Pick if this was twenty. Fifteen in a guy opted out of his team like duke. There's no way he's the round pick but that's where we are..

"Jackson is going up there. They gave a little cry on. That says you know he was. He played with lamelo ball teams at spire academy. And then adam silver literally goes up to the pay goes up in to the podium and says This this is going via the wizards to the pacers. And then you get i laughing. He smiles for a second. Because he's like. That's the stupidest thing. Yes i've ever said that the lakers. I made a selection on behalf of the wizards who are now trading. That's election to the pacers. And so why did they do this. Because the free agency window has an open yet and when it does that's when all the traits become final. Yes and and i think it's i will say this is. This is my david stern dark web. Belief is that it is a dark web way of having loyalty from other fan bases because kobe bryant bryant gets like charlotte hornets like carryover. You know what. I mean like there are kids that just have seen gobi on his draft. Victors were hornets stuff. Like dang swag. I like the hornets now. And even when. I whatever i think about this. I think of Antoine jamison and vince cartridge starter. Yeah the hats but you had the picture where antoine has the raptors. Vince has the warriors. And you know. I think it's a brand play at the end of the day for the nba. Have more guys attached to more team. So they have more finance. That's you might be onto something there. i think. I think you might dark web. David thought but it's it is very frustrating. It's it's so stupid at the scene. It's not stupid but it's it's like why you can't just figure figure it out at. That's what i would say like why. Why are we waiting for these traits to be finalized. It's it's and if we're waiting for them to be finalized and official a y. What if someone pulls in okeydoke and just do. That's that's oh by the way. Joey camp just got selected by the san antonio spurs. Let's go. joey just wanted to be on the air. Forty i pig. What a steel getting me. Let me pull out i got. I got to get it up to here. Oh wow nice. Little jason preston. Thirty three yeah. Evanson earl thirty two. I missed all these miles. Mcbride thirty six. I like thirty five. Yeah what what. What if an okeydoke happens and you say oh yeah you know when the when the window opens will definitely do the trader promise. And they're like we got your bitch the trade. I would love to sons literally just said no we candidate. We're gonna keep day ron short. We heard kendrick perkins analysis of. "Today we're talking about twenty twenty one. Nba draft which is still going on. Actually of this recording we We decided to to to pull the plug on on. Wait after joey camp. That's just like we. We decided the the first row is all we really need to see. Move on. I wanted to wait for joey. Scampi get drafted. So i could get excited round. That was the problem i know. Then sam Talking to for seaney on the show the last year we did earlier in the week when we were kinda talking about how the second round almost doesn't matter 'cause because guys can get almost purposely go drafts. They can pick their spots and i guess like they're beginning of the second round matters a little bit. I don't know. I just got soured on the whole deal. Joey camp tanaka drafted the big. Ten in general was disrespected. The sec was not well with two lottery. Picks a twelve year. An sec dow. So you're obviously very happy with inspire you. The conference do a lot of surprises. I think i think it's fair to say this was a surprising draft and a lot of ways we as it turns out eat and i watch judah different broadcast which we're going to. We're going to hash that out. I think we should start that. There's a lots of zuber. Just gonna do our best to sift through all of our straight thoughts and piece together and See where this thing goes. But i would dare technical foul all right as i said at the top we did not realize this until what pick wasn't like twenty one twenty two. The two of us were watching. Two very different broadcasts I first of all texted you right as the draft of starting. i said i'm going to try to experiment I have not enjoyed the nba draft. As much as i used to. When i was little and the real answer as to why i don't enjoy it as much as i did in nineteen ninety six which got a lot of play this year because the twenty five anniversary in in kobe ethanol that i loved watching the ninety six draft. I thought to myself wife. Never they say best draft class ever. Maybe i don't love watching the draft as much as i did when i was a little bit. The real answer. Is that older now. And when you get older things just stop being as cool. But i thought what if i just stay off twitter the entire show. Maybe that's it. Maybe like whoa spoils everything in ruins everything because for some reason the guy like kansas like not. Can you die woche. Guess anyone asked. What was that question was can you not well the worst part about it and i feel like with those. Just dive in headfirst. Just tell me that this election is going to be made. Don't give me these walk around terms like you know. Moses is top of the board for the for the golden state warriors here with this pick. Just say you know. I'm scooping i am i am. I am actually gets my company in lifetime because this is what i got famous for going nuts when i when i when i what i observe how people love woche and i'm just like what does this guy tweets yes higher entire existed state to tweak things we're gonna find out like five minutes anyway whether it's a draft whether it's a trade even the trades it's like bomb. It's like you know what the bomb is. Is that if we want to wait. Five minutes the the hornets themselves would have said. We are drafting this guy. Or we are trading this guy or the wisdom would have been like thanks for us it would have been like a hashtag. Thanks for us out out about the trade. We don't need you talking about when you when you were younger and into the nba draft and it was on tv. It was on espn. It wasn't this whole showcase and a lot of times. You wouldn't know that kwami brown was going to be the number one pick. So liz yes throw kwami gets picked. There is this. Oh my god yes anthony. Bit when he got picked number one in twenty thirteen. Oh wow this is crazy and seven hours before the draft. The number one pick the thing that we should be the most hype about low drew stupid. She started shaves is right there next to him. I don't wanna leave him out because both of those guys are in the same boat and like you said it takes away. The curiosity takes. Listen i i don't want to disrespect the business. Your ankles your your your scoops guy yourself now. So i don't wanna disrespect you per se but it's it's it's a garbage business. It serves as the guy in business stupid. Like what the hell so. I decided i'm gonna stay on twitter because for that reason for that very reason. I wanted to be surprised when scotty barnes goes number four. I wanna be surprised i was. I was shocked when they when adam silver announced his name was like. Whoa santa told me. This is a four player draft. Scotty barnes is not one of those four players five player draft or draught But the so. I told you straight out of the gate. I am not on twitter. I'm just gonna watch the broadcast unprepared tonight when we do the show to just talk about the broadcast so then i started you throughout the broadcast and kendrick perkins is wild. This is wild. I was like mike. Schmitz would have come up. This is cool. Was every person that you were texted me. I like look. I'm working on my computer. So i'm watching this intermittently happening so i assume that i'm just missing these people you know be like where do they have kirk stationed in this thing..

"Twenty eight. Joey's camp yeah. I think that it makes sense. Honestly i find. Joe lees camp top fifty most of the year. I don't know why people were like alice go. I haven't like thirty four thirty five something like that Very early second. Or i'll take it. Yeah that's malcolm brogden range draymond. Green rain yeah. I think he's an absolutely shooter. Like there's no question about that. I know he had like a forty s vertical leap. It feels like cody zeller. Forty vertical leap. Where late like that right like. When was the last time you saw. We stand like yeah. It's a it's a farm vertical or something. So i get the appeal. I think he's really bad on defense right now. Which is the significant problem. You can really shoot off a movement. And i really think he's absolutely worth guaranteed contracts. Which coming into the draft process. I don't think most people which was just like i said like is weird to me like people were almost surprised that he was like a guaranteed combine. Invite and i was like i don't i don't know why would be shot. Like forty seven percent from three in iowa this. You're right right. Yeah you sold us on 6'7 and forty seven percents three. Yeah if you want pays in space camp same. I want to ask you about two guys that i think could potentially move up slash of talent. The first one is sheriff. Cooper and i feel like as we've gotten around the draft. I've heard a lot of jaden. Springer's i've heard a lot of camp thomas other guards that have kind of jumped ship. Maybe they go as high as eight or nine or somewhere in that range. But shreve cooper to me. I mean i know he was young money cash money. I know there are some things about his auburn days. That you know worth the best. He said he was gonna ahdab any opt in but natural talent. I mean i love. She started when he started play. We thought he might be the best. Like we're like my god. Is he the best freshman after all in the country wasn't but we one game for for a moment in time so he he showed the flashes. So what do you see cooper. I've seen new york knicks. They obviously like him. But i've also seen cam thomas there. But do you like sherie cooper because i. I'm a little bit love with him. I like i think if cooper passer he's best live and i think he's the best ball handler nice. It's really hard to be like a six foot. One guard ways one hundred seventy pounds. Who isn't a great shooter. Man and can't defend see see. This is the same. He eat trick the system. He got listed as six four at the combine. I saw him listed as six four. And then i thought he grew three inches. I might be the number one might be three years league. Six seven okay. So he is six one. That's we've seen that man. Stay on next bruce pearl. Why did we know that he's okay. You're right six four. Like it's i love the skillset like if he gets to the point where he can chew. I totally agree with you. I think there's a real possibility that he could be a starting caliber. Nba boy as it is the small. I'm a little bit skeptical on the shot. I don't love the way it comes out. I don't love the fact that he has. Its natural lean backward whenever he gets closed out on. Because i think he feels like yes. Try and get the shot up over these offenders who were just beginning longer than he is. I think that leads to some balance and rhythm difficulties for him but if he can hire that out. I totally understand what you're saying. I think he is a legitimate. Probably enter the nba is like a top fifteen like combination. Passer ball handler. Point guard in the league. And that's that's like high end of the day right. He's that good. That's what i'm saying if you're the new york knicks you sign chris. Paul you bring in sheriff cooper and you have chris paul be the show. Yeah cooper behind him and you also have quickly. As as combo guard and robinson robinson dollar contract nixon win the championship percents contractors. And you guys getting. I'd like we're asking for ten asking for speed speed of dunkin in all seriousness Is there a prototype. Ooh because what was it. Five years ago everyone in the draft is looking for the extreme on green Then duncan robinson comes on the scene and maybe not everyone but that was certainly.

"Then he's he skipped a year of high school. He re-classed so he's basically was a true eighteen-year-old playing in the g. league so like i almost could convince myself. I'd rather have the kid that just went through that. Who super young and impressionable. A we can figure it out than maybe scotty scottie. Bars didn't show me to say he's definitely a top five. Pick but i see the potential you know. I'm with you. Guys like scotty at six five like i would say jonathan coming over scotty. Barns but less. Nba teams disagree. Apparently that's all i know. And it's like a consensus. They just orlando thing like most teams that i've thought avenue than they do john. How much does the g. league matter because we heard jalen green say that. He believes that he would go number. One if you would have gone to college and convenient jalen. Green obviously ended college basketball when they decided to go to jillian and college basketball. It will never be the same because of it. So but in your sense in talking to these teams Does that even matter. We do idiots. Like and i spent a lot of time talking about guys going to the g. league versus australia versus the overtime league versus caught. What will prepare your best at the end of the day. Does that matter to be teams. Whether what path you what path you took to get here. I think it matters to nba teams insofar as they have to evaluate the context that each player is playing within and each context is drastically different. Right like josh giddy and the nfl is playing any professional league. That is very physical. Like i've gone to those games. The referee in that league. I mean you can just like fucking knock on over into things like old big east baby. Let's go up temple basketball. It's like the weirdest love it. i love it. Sold losing international play the physicality the nba like in a lot of ways in terms of spacing has a very. It's the obviously the same fort right. And i think that the court dimensions play a drastically important role that goes under discussed when kind of breaking down offensive way because jalen green just have wider driving lanes this year than someone like eight cunningham. Did these playing with guys like jerry. Jeff playing with real shooters whereas the highest three months shooter that cade cunningham play with this year. Who took more than i think. Like twenty three's on their team. Was avery anderson. Who shot thirty three percent so like every time kate cunningham was driving. He's six foot eight so naturally takes up a greater degree space in the eight when he drives bigger in then on top of it defenses are collapsing into him in trying to just stop them in stripped the ball and do everything. And that's why. I think you see the turnover. Numbers is they do. Is they work just because the context of his situation at oklahoma state was that he was crowded every single time he drove into eight. So look yup to answer your question. I don't think jalen greenwood have gone number. One overall had gone to college. I think that he probably would've averaged twenty points a game. I think he was going to. Is that right. Yeah thanks memphis are auburn. He think he said both the different like hot sake. Watching the penny hardaway offense. This year was like not ideal at times right. Maybe they did need someone like the offense is just be better europe. Five-star score probably would have happened. He probably would have averaged twenty a game and it may been ohio. Like we've got this other great college player but cake. Cutting him i think was always the most likely player to go number one in this class. I still see it that way. He ended the day. Yeah let's let's cut to the chase. We put it off long enough. We have to. We have to talk about what we really want to talk about is Joey's camp have as time has gone on since the since college basketball season has ended. We talk ourselves into if the nba draft camp. If it happened. In december. Sam i think if i had more time i think i would talk myself in the way camp going top ten..

"Mitchell to me is a more natural point guard. The donovan mitchell was. And i think like even right now. He's probably a better on the ball defender than than than donovan. Mitchell is right now so there are some there are some pluses there and you're right about the warriors like of all the way that the draft lottery fell out assuming the warriors keep the pick which is a pretty big assumption. Because i think there's lots of scenarios where they move this pick. There doesn't seem to be a prospect. That makes more sense on after the james wiseman experiment last year. If you're really going to get a guy who's gonna come in and help you donovan. Mitchell and probably corey kiss. Bird are probably the two guys in the draft that that are probably going to be able to come in and do their thing right away but even that comes with a caveat. I mean you know one of the things that. I always have to tamp down expectations about as well as rookie. Typically don't help teams win basketball games. Even good ones typically. Don't don't do that but there's a big learning curve there. Adam anybody else they that either you been looking at lately or someone else that you want to of. Really advocate advocate for me as interesting. You picked one of the most experienced players in the dress. David mitchell and then kion johnson who has like one of the raw players like amazing athletic ability but a lot of works go into that offensive game. This sort of getting there. Who else who else are you. Are you like personally sort of high on right now. Well i'll tell you who. I know that a lot of other people fell off and it goes back to our earlier. Discussion but zaire williams from stanford is a guy that is really interesting because you look at his sort of lack of productivity at stanford now played well at times played really well at times had a triple double in one game But his shooting numbers were not where they anyone expected them to be but that said his form on his shot is terrific. And it's interesting. Because i talked to analytic skies in the league. Who tell me like you know again. The casual fan will look and they'll see field. Goal percentage three point field goal percentage. What have you. we're basing our metrics off a whole bunch of different data sets that include. You know whether whether you're catching shoot off the dribble You know how what defense look like when what you're shooting against. So i think all those things factor in and i think though with with zaire williams like i love his length I love aside and size. I love his demeanor on the court. I think he was trying to fit in some at stanford this year and i just think that with his form on his shot plays that he makes that are. Nba plays that. I think he could be a real steel in the draft. And he's one of those guys again that we saw what he could be when he's playing like the e. yell circuit and high school and all that you see what what could potentially be. If he's the guy and then he goes to sanford and plays well and if he wasn't thought of as this potential top five pick one and done guy. I think we would have evaluated his freshman season in a much different light of course of course but the expectations were so high and i think people are kind of sleeping on zaire williams and i think that he might be one of these guys. Maybe not as the rookie as you point out. But i think we look at two or three years down the road. He's a kind of guy that i think could really Could really impress. And then i think The other one for me is Joey's camp who i know you're raven about when he came out of the combine. It's funny because a lot of people are saying well. We love his length. We love his athletic ability. We love that. He could scored all three levels. He's a really good shooter. And i was thinking to myself well. He displayed all that and at the at the college game so in the college game so i think he's another one that really stands out. It could be you know. I be shocked if he doesn't go. I'm shocked that a team isn't going to take him in the first round because of what he breaks the table ectomy. He seems to be a guy that screams like back into the first round and yet somehow i still get the feeling that he's going to end up going in the second. That may have changed based off of this combine performance where he tested is one of the four five best athletes in the combine had huge twenty six point game in that second game and and clearly wings that have six eleven link are good athletes and can shoot the basketball. That is the rage right now the nba. And and i'll want to come back to that in our last segment and sort of talk about you. Know how fickle the nba is and what they sort of look for. Different areas like totally different sorts of players. Right now and why. I think cade cunningham is is the number one prospect because of it but i think i think the desire one to me is is the single most fascinating guy in this draft because on on a talent base i see it. It's all there that that production at stanford i went through a lot of game fell i. I'm not sure to say. I'm not sure that i would say he had a great season at stanford. I know i agree with that. Not grant so sure. It was listed. Yeah and and you know his his his his one hundred eighty eight pounds. That's a concern. I do like that. He's six ten with a six eleven. Seven foot wingspan and he actually is a really good athlete. And if that shots falling you know he is the sort of prototypical wing. We're going to get into this a little bit more but you know this this wing that can defend multiple positions and can both handle the ball a little bit and score the basketball. I mean this is what nba teams are looking for. And so this is this is maybe the best case that we have in the draft of all the potentials there on paper. He showed it in high school. It didn't really translate as a freshman at stanford there's lot of extenuating circumstances stanford essentially was a road team all year. He's living here living out of a hotel a he had a death in the family that came as part of this process. He's a young person dealing with lots of sort of changes. And he's not on kentucky where john calipari is going to build an offense around him. I mean he. He has to fit into a veteran stanford team. That isn't just going to rely on him every night. And and give him sort of the flexibility to do whatever he wants so all of that actually has to be taken in which means that. I'm not sure it's definitive either. Way like sire williams ended up being one of the top six seven prospects of this draft. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being a bust in the draft. There you would go back and look at things and say it was right. There was right in front of your eyes. This is one of the challenges that doing the draft right. It's not everybody is going to be clear and made cunningham and let's actually on that note. Let's drop to a break and when we come back we'll talk about who adam thinks should be the number one pick in the draft and the nba's obsession with.

zaire williams stanford Mitchell donovan mitchell james wiseman corey kiss donovan kion johnson warriors nba David mitchell basketball cade cunningham Adam sanford Joey john calipari

I'm sorry but we. We were living living in a modest setting. But yeah so i am. I've been involved with guess. Truth seeking and awareness for about ten years now and yes started with joy. Kim started with conscious comedy on youtube with my friends when i was living in los angeles. And that's evolved into poetry that i now perform at conferences. And i. i basically transitioned away from joey camp. Because i had lead all angeles so i was there with my friends. And they're all still there. I'm helping people bridge the gap between themselves and their loved ones when it comes to difficult subjects and not being labeled crazy or conspiracy theorists and helping people have relationships with people care about inspired if their differing viewpoints. Well we'll tell us about joy. Camp was awesome. I mean we had you know a lot. Got a lot of entertainment out of that and you know how did that start. You know you weren't you. The god keep thinking of the the whitest boys you ever saw. Was that you guys what what was what was what what was us. You know there was a thing you know like i was at you. I don't know that might have been another group. But joy camp had so many videos that You had to have been viral or had a lot of traffic and subscribers. What happened to that and well so what happened to joy came order to come from why you know talk about you know when you you and your friends that came together how it grew when it started to spark off then when and then it's gone. Why yeah okay. Well it came from really me. Not knowing how to rela- ideas the people so it became an outlet for you know for me to give understands bigger ideas taboo subjects so my friend kevin and i who had you know we've been going down the rabbit hole as it were for a long time together and we are always able to keep a good sense of humor about everything in spite of what we were learning. And i had a performance background. And i'd been studying acting for twenty years of my life and he was a writer and an editor and we didn't realize for a long time that we could use our skills for the good so we finally did we kind of stumbled into. It made a video for fun realized that it was really good and bought. Hey maybe we could provide some laughter to a very to an to an arena. That really needs some humor. "Why was only one of their last seven and they're having a ton of trouble getting the basketball So Luca guards on the low block. You got a credit Indiana's guards for a find Some ball pressure, but really, it is race. Thompson, working his tail off underneath the basket there on his Iowa swings the ball from one side of the court to the other guards. It will continue to work throughout a possession to maintain or established low block presence and race. Thompson Don is working to front. He's working to work to the other side, just to get a hand on a basketball. It is Really tough right now. For Lucas Garza to get any type of good looks inside the paint on most of that is because of race, Thompson and his effort and energy that he has brought to the defense spending, of course on the big man for Indian has also got 12 points on four of nine shooting. So he's really doing a little bit of everything for the Hoosiers here this afternoon. Well, Indiana trailing by just two white now, But the Hawkeyes will have the basketball is flavor resumes here. Indiana sense on Jackson Davis. Galloway, Tennessee Geronimo Back in the game, Having a race of break down and out Durham, Jordan, Bohannon would baffle a hot guys. They've got none. Gee, Garza kinda McCaffrey and Joey's camp in the lineup along with Bohannon, who will in violence, and Bohannon looks to get it in and throws it into Garza. Garza gives it back double handed the wings back out on the dribble to the top of the key, slides it back to the right back left. He comes in the past and muggy out of the top down. Lloyd comes to guard the works on trace down low forces up a shot will go and a foul is called on. This'll be entrees, Jackson Davis, and that will be his second and that's why it's so tough to guard him. They took away the first look which is right over the left shoulder, but it was a shot fake give it went to the left hand. Created the contact and one for Luca cars. That's a tough move. The guards guards it goes to the line was six points and he's got seven down. But I screwed that up. We'll have to take a look at that. Here is al across the timeline. He did score the basket. I forgot to put that down. So he's got his ninth point of the game of that free throw here is trace outside al off the Tennessee now off the tray, Galloway Niet apparently stepped on the out of bounds line as he caught the pass. And so in the end, it turns it over. That's just well. That's now their fifth of the second half, and they had five in the first half. Both teams have 10 turnovers down the ballgame My right through five of the first half. So apparently, I'm wrong about the second half there just three in the second half. That's the eighth turnover for Indiana. Here's Bohannon with the basketball slides it over to the right back off to the top of the key piece of left, and we scamper up three and the ribs and no good and trace. Jackson Davis fights for the rebound. It stepped away to rob, Tennessee, Tennessee. With it across the timeline dumps in the corner to Armand, Frankly, is just checked in that hits a bad shot, missed it rebound. Fought for our mind comes up with it and a whistle. We got a foul called against Iowa and they're gonna nail Khanna McCaffrey on this personal that will be his third. Franklin's really struggling shooting right now off seven from the field, don, But you got to give credit Armand. He followed his own shot there. You're not feeling confident. Follow your shot and get a chance if it short to come up with the offensive rebound. That's exactly what happened for Indiana. None. She goes to the back in the ballgame very briefly out McCaffrey checks to the sideline. That's Connor we're talking about in the inbound comes the phrase Jackson Davis for Are you off to Al Al Rosen outside the Armand, who continues to the right. Nice feed to trace down low for an easy to one hand slam. WellPoint snapper, Trace Jackson Davis and Indiana's Within 3. 53 56 25 left here is will handle the ball, slides it over. The wee scamp drives it into the lane and should've been called for traveling or a job. All they're gonna call job ball possession turn goes to Indiana. All right. That was robbed fantasy. They got a hand on that basketball. Thank goodness he did because we camp was going straight to the basket brought down by his hip, and Rob was able to tie him up. Nice defensive play from Tennessee. Indiana Ball on Indiana breaks the pressure nicely with Finnessey off the Armand Armand pulls it back out on the way. Now he throws it outside the Tennessee right back to our motto feeds Geronimo. Top of the key downloaded trace inside. Nice Bull puts it up stores on the foul. Grace Jackson Davis. Comes up with a big play their foul called Whistle. Joe, we can't bet is his third on Indiana now has pulled within one and can tie it with trace to knock down a free one. I was been in there 23 Zone, much of this second half for Indiana. In the last two possessions. They've been able to find Jackson Davis right there. At the bottom of that 23. He's able to go one on one is a nice spin move back to his right hand for the M one free throw by Trace. Jackson Davis is good, and he's got his 15 point of the after. Go on Indiana's tied this ballgame but fifties rate six old four left talk running in Bull Hanna brings it across the timeline for the Hawkeyes will hand it dribbles out front. Tennessee on him, Rose it lifted into the hands. Economy Caffrey's check back in for not quite sure. Who now here's the throw up by bowling by hand and missed it. Rebounding Rob Finnessey three on one Break Roberts filed by Kana McCaffrey, and that's his floor condo. McCaffrey now With four fouls, and Fran McCaffery looks at his bench and he's gonna bring in Tony Perkins once again to replace Qatar line. I am shocked that I was not going mortality guards on the low block I as a good shot from Jordan Bohannon. But Indiana's got all the momentum right now. I think you got to try to get the ball inside to your big man finish. He goes to Durham with the past. Top of the key feeds Armand Whiteside takes it in which is about to trace Jackson Davis goes toe al al turns around, slides it to the left plenty of time on the shot clock. Al Durham, now tries to penetrate Gets it down low puts up a little runner won't go rebound tipped up No on the rebound, taking out there by nudging for Iowa. Indiana had a chance to take the lead couldn't get it done Here is Perkins, right side passable handed. We'll hand and close it back outside to Perkins till we scamper three. He missed a high off the rim hit the top of the backboard pulled down my praise Jackson Davis on the rebound. He feeds Finnessey down the Florida Geronimo chipped away to Armand puts it up stores. Marmont. Franklin gets his first two Handsome price of the ball game to give in the end of the league now bullheaded outside the energy between the circles back the ball handling. All right, bullheaded rebels to the top, throws it at the Perkins Perkins slides it back to Bohannon Bohannon dribbles it to the top. Turns around looks for help. There's too much Gene. Uh, gee will let go along. What? It's short on the rebound of fantasy, and Rob brings it back down the court..
