"Andrew friedman he comes from big finance. You know private equity is seeping into sports. More spags special purpose acquisition companies. All of that. They're so again someone has to bring this up. I'm kind of out of box person. I'm nontraditional right. I'm nontraditional media coming from a background of not media. I'm nontraditional academia coming from background. Not academic so. I'm not traditional podcasts. Coming from a background of not talking on the radio podcasts. So these are the kind of things you have to look for. And i think it's great. I always look for disruption. You know the reason. I joined gary the invaders sports. I thought there's a disruptor so the agent businesses another businessman stagnant in static for twenty thirty forty years. Same agents are getting the top players that they did thirty years ago. The joel siegel's derozen houses in the sierras. And the day done they're still there. Where's the disruption there could be some disruption and do with a j. banner chuck and bainer sports so look for that but gm models in the nfl. Here's a chance for seven teams to make it happen. We already see in houston despite using a search firm. Don't get me started on them. They're boondoggles that. Just give you names. You begin anywhere else. They avoided the search firm. Korn ferry and hire the own guy. Our guy from new england. They tried to get a couple of years ago. Giving more power to the guy who's in houston jackie's debate which is a whole. You know cultish thing in itself as the sports illustrated article by my colleague. Jenny venture show. So we'll see what happens with these general manager hires i've been consulted by team again. Some of this advice and i talked about the candidates. They had a couple that. I'm very well so we'll see. I mean i just think we have a real opportunity if you're higher general manager or even a coach and you have zoom right now you can get anyone on zoom right now. You're not dealing with logistics in snow and all the bad weather out there this time year. Get them go get him at least for an interview and pick their brain. That just makes so much sense to me. So we're in hiring season and firing season but firing season happen. Quick now Season especially with gm's we should make this happen. In a disruptive model. I am advocating for that back to more rants in a minute. "These four delicious focus on the details working during the week and just taking care of the football At some point, it has to be done to give this team a chance to win. If you turn the ball over, you're not gonna win football games and that's really that's what it comes down to. Guess easier said than done. That was Niners quarterback Nick Mullins. After the 40 Niners lose and man if Europe Niner defensive player man you getting on the plane at some point, I guess you're going back to your hotel room tonight, but You're thinking about this game and you're thinking what? Let's see. We did not allow a touchdown on defense. And yet somehow, some way we want to lose in this cake by eight points. There was a lot of good things on the night air defense. They were flying around. But all for not because you turn the ball over and they turned it into 21 points and you lose the game. But we're taking calls. It ate away can be our after the Niners lose this one and probably You know, basically say Sion Ara to their playoff hopes of five and eight There will be in Dallas next week to take on the Cowboys brighten early. Join us next Sunday at 7 A.m. for pregame Javi years and Vacaville and he wants a weigh in on Camby are a heavier Uh, hey, turn your radio today doing great. Okay, so I just hope we understand Now that we're five and 8 13 weeks through and one you know, it's a fortnight's flaccid station, but their constant is probably the worst investment they had outside of Kwon Alexander and this regime. He's A non factor and you know again, I have been the respect Mrs Young with the signing of him and, well, the agent that book your ass. I'm a state every week. Buckner's lost was the worst loss. It has Arguably Frank Gore, just the locked room outside of this to play at the three technique. We look at this offense that they say center Hannes some brilliant mastermind offensively, but his hands some with this with his roster. He could figure the quarterback room. Miss Mullins is the worst quarterback eyepieces Ken Dorsey in 2004 on this roster, and we're over here, making it easy treating injuries but calling Cabinet Cabinet colleague now I'm not gonna go down that tangent, but Homecoming is a chance to Wednesday. I know because someone took her against a different big mourns. It looks like he's not ready to play outside of university, Missouri where it came from. I'm going to contact the ground. My point is, this is something we've seen Ryan for your play, Okay, but you mean you can you can, you know, work it out, but it's a proven fact because called cabinets and winning big Mama's gonna get the league in about five months or less. But Brian, who were who first time we've seen him there, running the vertical split in the houses on that play action pass from lawyer in the 18 preseason, I believe are 17 when they had a group of Foster's first round pick against Minnesota. What happens these concepts of stress since university and then we hear? Oh, well, we don't have the personnel. You control the personal decisions. You are in charge of it. There are still no longer the player is going to go get the double team avoidance because you're going to get those single massive, But he's getting paid. 70 men are premium to do nothing like and then we have the whole world. They're injured. Everybody injured the corona viruses do the whole world. People were coming often on the corner bars covert this every day and because while you're being dramatic and over the top, I know this. Not only is he going to get worse and all season and they could stand being pessimistic and negative doesn't matter, So I was gonna go. We're gonna take Sherman Brick D Ford Christie tar with them because they're all gonna get paid up there and with worse about is that we have no Teacher in the division until we get a quarterback cable to compete with the Wilsons and the golf and even color Murray and there's um, well, you know, she had a hand in a full strength. You know, he's a great call. It is often toe. Coordinator. He is. You're not a head coach 28 33. I'm going down the route of going back to the quarterback from five years ago. Either way, the proof in the Clinton there 20 and 33 standing hand, they say Jimmy crop close the winner. Jimmy Garoppolo quarterbacks and elevate this roster, whether they're going to be having full strike next year, which they're not control agency and the cab worn down what they get Half the team gone. Regardless, The problem is in China Hands evaluation, They can say Kendra, born dropped $5.100 pointing out there. Well, it became a cab pick in front of ego, Samuel the one who's never available to play. Yeah, he had a great Ricky. You're DK Metcalf doesn't mean all pro in the second year. People, families of your injuries. Irving about two hours like it's just the things that like I see as a callow Tristan Division three clear that people are playing a lead and they scoff and laugh with that. The Niners are horrible. They might be the worst team in the conference whenever the Dallas on Sunday they might be the worst in the conference. That solution, There's no chance there's no chance of the worst in the conference. Let me come on. Well, I I know you're upset. I know you're frustrated. I know you're venting. But come on, let's let's try to keep some semblance of reality here. This isn't one of the deeper rosters and pro football. It's just decimated. And as far as the Buckner thing, I'm getting kind of tired of the Buckner thing. Why? Because look at their situation. He hired Joel Siegel. He's making 22 million. They're looking at a ridiculous cap situation already. They found a way to teach, you know, basically not pay him and get a first round. Pick out of it. You can argue about kin law. But I mean, like it was naive to think that Kim Law was going to step in and be a 12 sack Interior defensive tackle as a rookie. I mean, if he was that's the greatest working interior tackle since Reggie White, So I think we got a temper our expectations on that. You know, I agree that Armstead has under performed a little bit this year. What arm steadies, you know was is a guy that really is dependent on on having some rush. And even even Buckner..

"You know that time. Yeah, but I don't blame him for I don't blame him for going with Armstead over Buckner because Buckner higher Joel Siegel when he hired Siegel that sends a message. That's not, you know, you hired these guys for a reason. And a guy like Siegel has a rep. He got Khalil top dollar. He gets his guys top dollar and everybody knows that. That's the rep. So when he's hired Siegel he's basically saying that John Lynch, I want top dollar. Then Lynch had to decide who I want to pay the guy top dollar Armstead. That's local ties. He was willing to cut a deal which Lynch felt good about it. He opted for Armstead. I don't think just cause he signed arms. Sydney let Buckner go that any but way. That's any kind of a statement from Lynch that he thinks of arms is better than Buckner was just who would make a deal? Have the numbers work out? You know, I just I I think he felt like you know Buckner was that maybe sell a little selling high on Buckner. Somebody was going to give you a number one. Obviously, they were hoping Kinlaw probably a little bit more of a pass rusher, and he's been So I mean, I remember when John Lynch did saying because you're right on the point here, John Lynch said When asked about trading Buckner, he said when his agent called when Siegal called him and said that his numbers started with a two as in 20, plus million dollars and getting 23. I think he's making 23 point for this year. With Colton Armstead's making 17, he said. When his number started with a two he goes. I knew we had a problem. He said that so you're right. It just they slotted everything in and this was before the pandemic and looked at what they had to do in the future and all these guys they have to sign in this offseason. And they went my defensive tackle. Even as good as he is, can. His number can't start with two. And that's when they made the decision. And they got the 13th overall pick and hopefully Kinloch and be somewhere close because Qin laws entire contract. Four year contract. Then they'll have 1/5 year option. But the four year contract for Kinlaw isn't even as much as what buck is going to make in a year. So the real key to this whole thing is Kinlaw has got to develop and he's kind of hit a wall at this point. Yeah, And it happens to a lot of rookies for sure. And also, you gotta wonder exactly what his pass rush potential is. You know, he may just be an enormously strong For you know, 1st and 2nd down type player who trots off the field on third down for a for a pass rusher. I don't know that Lynch wants to hear that right now. But based on what we've seen thus far, that might be the case. All right, let's take a time out. Well, we got more straight ahead. Ate away can be our is the phone number, But first, it is time for our pig in a pickle call of the game sponsored by picking a pickle, home of the best barbecue in the Bay Area. "Was exploiting their double pings on Sol. Are you Nam Bozo and Bruckner? And now we met after the man he's not fit to do the job, and they're saying, Well, you know, we don't have no money. You're paying guys stopping here. All these foreign are inside. The Ford Alexander When they're all healthy, they're not healthy. They don't play your pain guys that aren't helping your bottom line. Those guys are not productive for this organization on board now in the future, or even president Contrato. What's on a theory Alexander Plate and not similar, if not worse, in Greenland, making 12.5 a year and Ah Signal. I can pay 2.5 over four years. He'd be gone yesterday. And this whole notion of we're not gonna find ego guys in the third. He can make up a guy wanted last spring in the second round of Ole Miss, But they told those Daniel Good, competent earpiece. You make half a game changer. When you come out, we don't want to Antonio Brown early promise in a week. Antonio Brown is gonna be killing the league with Kobe and Tom Brady. They don't want to go out like this. And this is the result. They'll beat the bad, but this is like 1000 14. They're going to lead the league in to reserve players and they're going to beat the bad guys lose it. If you want an institution and gets out of his own way and cutting got proven commodity to save face for draft a book. Paco what receiver and that's it. Taylor is a week in the state are you know we're going to take my receiver, and that's it, But he swore to himself. I can't look bad in a national light because I drafted guys prominent positions in my draft and the capital of Chile. Bad regards to that until they get out of their own way and start making some good. Taking chances with some personnel decisions is what you're going to get here. You have your Let us jump. You said a lot. Their little son. Let's unpack some of that's I agree with a lot of the things you said by the way. First on the Armstead thing Armstead was willing to take less. Buckner's agent was Joel Siegel. Siegel had gotten top dollar for Khalil Mack. If you hired Joel Siegel that tells John Lynch thatyou want top dollar, that's that's the communication within the game. That's the reputation that Siegel has. In the game. So when Buckner went and got Siegel, he basically said the John Lynch I want me, you know, 20 million Plus, and so then he was like, Okay, Well, could you get Armstead to take a little bit of a hometown discount? I think Armstead did. I don't think they're stating that they felt like Armstead was better than Buckner. They just felt like they could get a first for Buckner and that he was going to cost Mohr and so they They, You know, they pulled that move. We'll see how it works. You know, this year is going to be the year It's going to hurt you the most. Why? Because Buckner's in the prime of his career and playing good ball for an indie defense. It's much improved and you're still waiting for. You know, you're still betting on the come up on Kinlaw and And, you know, maybe people thought Armstead with some world Venus, Um, but he is right about Armstead. I mean, the one thing that we said in the off season about Armstead is his art Has Armstead finally arrived at 10 sacks last year. Or was Armstead a result? That last year a result of having all those other guys you had? Obviously Buckner inside deejay Jones always playing well, Bosa on one side Ford. So you had to decide. Okay, well, how we're going to do this in Eric Armstead just isn't that kind of a player. You know, we saw him for the first number of years of his career, and he was all right, and he'd show flashes. But he was frustrating. Well, the same thing has happened in this year. They need Eric Armstead to be a disrupter up front. And he's just not that on his own. He is not a an a list type of AH defensive lineman and is going to make teams. Say. Okay, well, how we gonna defend this guy? That's just not Armstead. He to me, and we're halfway through the season. Now he was a result of how many other great players on that defensive line and he Oh, he should buy them all, like dinner's stakes cars because he got a lot of money. I mean, he's got talent. I don't think you're saying he's talentless. But I hear you saying that he's not. His numbers were very much a product of the Sarah Kay's defensive end, and he's not really that. I mean, he's kind of a tweener right, and that's what they could survive technique right? So so what he could do last year, though, is you could play out there And then when you wanted to get the fort on the field, then you move him inside, and now he's mismatched against guards on passing downs. And that's what he's good at. But you know to just stick him in an end and say OK, arm said You're going to come. We need you to rush the quarterback. That's just not what he does. Yeah, And I think you all got great points and you know, and that's what especially a defensive line is is about is being surrounded by a lot of really good players on not really dependent on that. That one guy I mean, Nick balls is a great player, but he makes everybody else. Better. Defore. It's a great player, but he makes everybody better. And now you've got a rig Armstead, where you know he's the guy that everyone's looking at, because he's got the big contract, But you know, he was a guy that benefited from Guys around him and made him that much better. So you know, it's it's It's not an excuse like you always say, John, but you know, it's a reason why this defensive line is not is dominating because you don't have the perimeter Russian and the guys in the middle, pushing the quarterback. One other thought. Guys to, you know, have year goes off on a number of things. One of the things he talked about was Mohamed Sanu versus Pettus. I don't I don't have any real great vibe for Mohamed Sanu. I think he lost his speed a couple years ago. You've seen a couple different clubs, take fliers on him and now probably be it for him. And he won't give us a second round pick and this year cut him. Exactly. I mean, in the 40 understand? Doesn't have any juice left and nobody else picked him up, right? I mean, I'm not a Pettus fan. I'm just simply saying, if you're saying Pettus Orson New news totally done, But I think the the other criticism. I think it's fair that that that Kyle and John have gone too far with guys that they invested in because they invested him. They went. They've gone too far with Solomon Thomas. They've gone too far with Dante Pettus. They probably should have all floated them and moved on. But you know, it's difficult to do and it's difficult to admit a mistake and move on. But at this point, I mean, why continue to get beat with? You know with Dante Patty? She can't let him see the field any longer. And that's how we're going to get into next segment..

"But I don't think it gets to it. You can do those things and that's great football. Did you find it? Yeah, Holder Senator Creepy. That's voices, this search worm that actually on the ground, but he has vert. Distance worm is off the ground. Like ah, a couple inches or whatever that is. Maybe He's a rectal. Most crowds around you to be honest. Yeah. Yeah, Russian When he When he tees off, he kills all these inch worms on the ground. Yeah, I don't like it at all in a lot of golf this off anyway. It'll get done. But don't don't. The pandemic certainly has something to do it. I mean, what I'm saying is that what we've seen so far from bet? Still getting done, Mahomes. They'll get it done to Chris Jones. Deal's getting done that sell them. I know that, but I'm saying it's about my financial standpoint. These organizations is nothing or not this contract. Well, what I'm saying is the 40 Niners have to sign this officer's camp Ghost it down to 1 75 You know, with a way to do it would be to back load the contract. We could even agree on. You know what the total value would be. And how much guaranteed signing. I mean, you could guarantee him a lot of money. I think over the next four so years, it would be highly unlikely you would cut him. So remember Russell Wilson was trying to get a baseball contract and so you wanted all of it guaranteed like Kirk cousins got with the Vikings. They want up restructuring that You could do that, or just guarantee him all of it. Every rent sent Did you two have to back load the contract would be the opposite of Jimmy. Because you got a whole secondary. You have to sign McGlinchey's up in Time Warner's up in time. We're not going left tackle. You already agreed not to franchise tag Trent Williams. So you and you're telling me I thought if Perak got it all in this office has got spreadsheets out and he's all got on his laptop and we thought the camp was going to be 2 15 It's 1 75 You're gonna tell me that's not going to come into a factor on how you do this. I don't care what they did in Kansas City are signing other players. That's their business, our business and structure This way. We love Kittle. There's nothing wrong with them and all we'd like to get all the money we have. But there's a hard cap in this league and tell me how we do that and sign these all these other players, so there's away. They're smart. They got to move money around, but I would think you'd guarantee a very high percentage of it and back loaded. A swatch of Canada deal. Yeah, I'm just saying that there has been no indication physical indication that anybody slowing down despite what the numbers say I understand what you're saying. In terms of the cab. I completely understand that. What I'm saying is Mom's gotta deal. Jones gotta deal. The Dodgers are different in baseball's a totally different sport. But there's nobody else to stop my head that I should be getting a deal. That's not getting a deal. They don't seem to be slowing down. The NFL we find, and I think they're going to get some relief. At some point. They'll agree to some relief. So this thing doesn't dive down because then players lose narrowly. Has gin is 1 75 That's just Lois. We'll go, right. Yeah, that's a bit ago. I still think everything everything is fluid. I think that they'll be able to do what they're gonna do. But of all the guys that you just mentioned. The great part is you're you're developing talent. You're drafting your developing and then the last step is resigning. You've got to be resigned to the fact and this is how how it works with good teams. You are going to lose players. You just have to pry or just him. They lost a forced back, right? But you just mentioned Warner and Sherman and A tart is going to come up and she's going to come up in Warner's gonna come up and all this stuff they're going to lose. Guys. This is how it goes. You resigned. That fact. If they very well, if you do if you give Kittle enormous amount of it, I'm not saying you shouldn't do it. Ah! I mean, the whole secondary. You gotta re sign Sherm and Kei Wan terms one of the best corners boundary corners in football in Kei Wan's one of the best slot. Nickle, corners and football. Tired is up a CZ well. Other guys. Air shrimp Williams values check is up. There's a lot of guys so I hear your other, work it out. We're gonna talk about kids contract every single day because it was just always so worried about the time it's not going to get you may not have done this year by opening at by opening thought I just saw this over thing. I just read it because we're in the middle of the night are several right about this, and I said the most overrated story is that Cause it's gonna get done. It's just when you all of all the guys you mentioned. Kittles number one on the list already. I mean, bet could may not agree to a deal. You say I want what I will say is And I'm not gonna you know, knock on whatever with me, but I will never get to the Buckner point where Joel Siegel says, 20 million plus and you say, shop your deal, trade you They're not gonna trade Kittle. They're not going to do that. But what I'm saying is you do what you have to do. And he is an undervalued position. It's just he's the best. Of a position that is not viewed as highly as it should. And maybe bet could could change that. But that's what's going to make it tough. Is to get him to agree to a number. We'll make him the Heike. What do you want? Average annual value Total value guaranteed money, actual guarantee. Whatever you want. He's got it. That's not enough. I want Julio Jones money or I want Let me turn so money. Well, we can't wait. We don't have to do that because we can franchise tag, um and tag him and tag him. Ordinarily, you wouldn't tag a guy repeatedly in this situation and takes a lot of sense. To do it, but we don't want to do that. We want to guarantee you We love George. He's a captain. He's going to be a forever 49. He's not going anywhere, so there's a number they're gonna have to get to. But it is a it's a It's a difficult it's a lot like Lincecum. Where it's just it was a hard thing to do, because there aren't any coms for him the way blocks the way catches everything. I mean, where does the after grow as a player a little bit of a route runner? But beyond that, and he's such a great guy, he's the energy of the team. Especially was Staley going is your leader? He's your captain, and he's shown up. He could be. You know, Naoko thought he wasn't going to show up. He showed up. He's there. So they'll work it out. But it's a It's a big contract. It's a hard one to do. But I think he may plaque to play the year under the current deal and figured out later or tomorrow They could announce the 40 Niners. You signed George Kettle doing eight year deal. They think they could do that as well. So let me organizationally and sports work like this In the comparison, I'll make his baseball because what I would do is okay. I know what tight ends make..

"No numbers but Matt barrows saying close on a five year deal for Armstead averaging about seventeen per what do you think of that that's a good deal for him miss or certainly was advantageous not to have to franchise tag him and start the negotiation in nineteen million we have that and and just screamed conversation or communication with his agent so I think we may be able to get his agent on once this deal it is official and we we kind of hope that you know it may be done before his name is I think if you see that Shazier Chaffee fielding and he's he was which'll Siegel left Joel Siegel now works for the watchmen group just started in in January a former player was actually a forty niner wide receiver nothing ever played for but anyway I have communicated with them and I think once we get this done once she gets it done they may be able he may be able to speak openly about their show starting at ten o'clock in the tag at nine o'clock and then they're getting the deal done if he obviously cannot speak on the record a lot of things to talk to him about not just his own client getting Armstead which is going to get done but being a prominent agent and he represents a few of the players as well just a whole CBA negotiations and how this impacts the league going forward as far as Erik Armstead I think the immediate domino that will only work once again D. Andrea de Andre Hopkins to the cardinals he got traded Adam Schefter reported just talked about it yep to the cardinals in division as loud as the cardinals just got rid of David Johnson's that in their mind they could so they were doing that's basically what it is it's hardly Andre Hopkins now joins Larry fitzgerald and Christian Kirk well I got a bunch of young receivers they drafted Isabella the kid out of mu Masih Isabel on the dry today Butler the kid at Iowa state has got some side hazard their number their three top would be fitz Gerald de Andre Hopkins and Christian to draft a left tackle to protect their quarterback in their offense could be wrong some bad so what did the what it does Arizona have to give up not sure I'm just looking to check the right now in its it is the check mark so I've not been fooled on this unless somebody hacked them but he just says Texans are trading deandre Hopkins Arizona per source does not say anything else will keep you up to date fast and furious they just traded for David Johnson and then they trade the Andre Hopkins I wonder what they're all about well they don't have picks the problem with it was that the Texans they don't have any pics because remember the tonsil deal last year which became a father pixel they're basically yeah I mean I'm not saying it's great it's three hours the Andre Hopkins added his contract is up three years and forty two left well why would they trade him riff Raff reports in the cardinals are receiving the under Hopkins in a deal for David Johnson I can't be straight up I gotta come off of that they're gonna get pics because Houston's doing that is because Houston needs picks well if Houston took all of his salary hi you would think that they would they would take all the salary yeah that's but that is what we aim at why why would you why would you should ensure they won't take less salary I'm just reading I'm just reading a rabbit or December there's got there's no way that straight out there's got to be multiple draft picks involved I mean look at what Odell Beckham junior got for Dave Gettleman last year when he traded in for the giants to John Dorsey right Cleveland I know that that can't be it it's just not possible so the arms that deal five year deal up to eighty five million dollars yeah I think that'll have a impact on Emmanuel Sanders obviously the way I looked at it late in the year and you're also got Jimmie ward there deforest Buckner it's interesting what the forty Niners can do with him on the fifth year option just for this year is he would get tackle money and not in money where the opposite occurred for Armstead and went to forest was drafted it was coming from a three four defense into a three four defense three fort organ three four here and he was more than that it's not a zero technique or a nose tackle you know it's more of a five technique which is it and but technically it's a dozen and but not really in a because you have a outside backer up over him anyway either they could save a couple of million dollars proceeding forward issue the forty Niners and that the the fifth year option will be more of a tackle position then and then position which was the opposite for Armstead I I think this will have a trickle down on a manual Sanders if they can afford him they have not done any restructuring as far as I know what D. for David Lombardi will join us in a little bit of time the bottom of the hour Jan thirty needs an expert on the restructuring and they've already done that with Klein and western Richburg during this season I've not heard that they've done any of that they could be doing that right now what D. Ford but I think with Armstead now it comes in to yeah they're already free agents they're out there they're talking to people and how does it impact Jimmie ward being able to retain him and how does it impact Emmanuel Sanders being able to retain him yeah by the way sorry deandre Hopkins in the fourth to the cardinals for David Johnson and a second I don't understand this deal at all how can the for Johnson and the and the cardinals give a B. to to the David Johnson added to go to Houston any for next year so to this era of technology but Johnson's contract don't say it doesn't say I would assume just because it's not being it's not reported that they're not putting big that could be different but John McClain who you know he's been in the league for years and years and years and discovered the tax crazy on a timer strike was snake yeah here's the Andre Hopkins in the fourth of the cardinals for David Johnson and a two and a four so too this year for next year that's all for Hopkins she's so they're they're a mother's flipping their flipping a chill in a four yeah why would they do that I don't know save money I guess they're up again it must be up against it they're trying to get pics with I thought the other how can schedule one I mean if I was a forty dollars a full one Jefferson forty Niners at a given up thirty one in a heartbeat for all while he's got three years left on his deal you would you wouldn't you don't necessarily have to they don't have a second third or fourth still while but there's so many to go if you draft is de Andre Hopkins a twenty eight with three and forty two left which is really reasonable I'd take that in a second I think I like it well what I think one thing that is hurting the Andre this this or really depressed the market for Emmanuel Sanders is the wide receiver draft class is supposed to be historically good I mean you're talking maybe five I don't know on a five maybe in the first round he and they said twenty seven have third rounder lower tenure Chad tenders are are very valuations great Saddam first second or third so I David Johnson just please don't and completely fell off doesn't mean you can't get it back I thought he may go to Tampa Bay and reunite with Bruce Arians but I I just didn't see any twitch in him now maybe a year removed yet she gets a bad injuries he was a great player there's no doubt but to give up de Andre Hopkins in this trade is on the right well you certainly could this division to out affects the forty Niners mean that like the Seahawks have money they're going to read to a little bit I don't expect the rams to be better the cardinals now with Tyler in the way he played look keep they played the the forty Niners both games very tough and so now you add Hopkins I would assume they're gonna draft a left tackle because they really need one and they're picking eighth overall so they can get in there and they don't need CD lamb anymore now they don't need a receiver anymore so they'll probably go and there's like three or four the kit there's a I would tackle Bama tackle in the kit at Louisville who was great at the combine to one of those three they probably take it eight and all the sudden you're sitting there they're gonna keep Kenyan Drake's all the sudden you've got Kenyan Drake Hopkins fitz Gerald some of those young receivers that they have Christine Kirk a couple is a bellow those kind of guys who have the eighty eight year last year and you get a left tackle and Kyler Murray and they are designed home freeze it was probably right tackle that's a pretty good offense so David Johnson is sitting in the second year of a three year thirty nine million dollar extension his base salary for this year is ten point two and a cap hit of eleven point two and the Texans are reportedly taking out his entire salary way sums wrong why you know what bill o'brien's run that team and he's a haven't really ever after owners it rebuild rises problem you have that's unbelievable and now he it was a clashing with de Andre Hopkins and and Houston I didn't hear that I just heard that they were trying to get picks because they were out of picks and they were up against the salary cap but you're getting into one of four you're giving up a two last year they won a playoff game that's not good you got a young quarterback when they want to sign up they want to sign what's a long term so we need money I understand all those kind of things that you just took his best receiver away that's not good I need to get much back that there must be more to it there must have been a clash with o'brien and deandre Hopkins we don't know about there's no one there I mean player for player it's not close the Andre Hopkins is a far better player than David Johnson the money's not there obscene you're not getting a boatload of draft picks like Gettleman did in New York this trade makes no sense at all there there's gotta be more to it than what we know and we will someone be added but that's what clean is reporting that the only person who I've seen has numbers I don't know must about a clash with o'brien and the Andre Hopkins and that's the problem you get into is when the the head coach of the play caller also as a Tanami over the roster right or if he just doesn't like a guy for whatever reason you normally go to GM and say get him the hell out of here like I don't know I'm not trading him pull it again that I have to deal with them and now he has the ability just to get him the hell out of there on his own well there's a reason it doesn't make sense to is three and forty two in today's landscape is an absolute great deal for a guy of this caliber he's only twenty eight years old chance is making the same money job it's ridiculous I mean it's really it's a result of the more this is only now yeah wow well now at least receive it's Cheryl plays one more year he's on record as saying that they they have a nice trio of of weapons for him to throw to me absolutely handicap canyon drive Draco was really effective we saw first hand the Holloway against the forty Niners he's they got out of the building on that Monday and he was terrific and he could catch the ball gives them a lot of what David Johnson gave them before now can David Johnson get back to where he was he showed no inclination that was coming maybe they know more physically I get how do you how do you make this trade without having a physical for David Johnson right and that may not know what is that what you're looking at physically with him he it's it's unbelievable is that within Skype Skype doctor conduct a physical obvious guy I'm sending out your records you transfer records but I mean you really have to have your own people look at it yeah by the way Austin who ran into none of these things you gotta understand that none of these things are officially official like you said they were given the weird nature of what visitors physicals are gonna be but they are just coming to agreements and then Wednesday they.

"With Clarence hill junior who was up in Oxnard and we have he is a great insider covers the cowboys and the NFL as good as anyone Clarence good to talk to you again tell us first off about the level of concern in Oxnard with a zig being a no show you know it is really not a high level of concern to bomb the tabloids were right compared to that let me see some travel social media when the gas and everything is mine of the far right and behind them the certainly Jerry dolphin everything is fine and he's been doing this for a long time they've been to a lot of old out but it should be a concern because this is the cowboys team that that they had a strong season last year and really thought they had a chance to believe they have a chance to take the next step in problem across the mall one this year senator Kerry's on hot signal at your of is a contract without a contract but they believe they've done up in offices and prove that she you music in care you need that was a contract me tomorrow will contact you know you don't think about you often still dazed distraction for the season they hope to finally get back to football over four thousand ninety ninety five clearance we talked about it before you came on and he was working out at UCLA where Odell Beckham junior and Tom Brady works out down the road from Oxnard I don't think anyone would bat an eye here he be holding out but to be working out how concerned are you about Kabul and the danger of being a Mexico needing security and working out and there's no football field the optics to me are terrible but as you say Jerry doesn't seem to be too concerned about it reporter the doctors are invited me what the Kabul would twenty seventeen are when he was suspended for six games he came back in great shape and and look good and most well down the stretch that you know he he did get some things done in Kabul the matter worry is the bottom line is that we can't you know in in it so that that's the main issue with the cowboys they're they're they're really concerned about anything or will they would rather him be a cat not just a use where in the world but the bottom line is they're not concerned about and get me in a couple of the was on the set this morning is a yesterday they're working on getting him a new contract they can be good they're going to get all because I've done that the main focus Clarence hill is our guest the great cowboy insider plan to want to jump into Amari Cooper design assault with the writers and I don't think it had anything to do with the raiders and him had everything to do with Joel Siegel is agent who has the same agent that Khalil Mack CAD when mac was holding out in Oakland it was just a matter of time that the agent was going to play hard ball with the raiders what lead you to believe that a Mari getting signed the getting that extension will be easier than what he had to deal with with Oakland in the writers our group from the cowboy wanna get done you know and and and they have ever have again been convicted ever said that made the trade room they're going to sign him the number one receiver money they you know they have a slot where we would dance Bradman garner used as bribes number one receiver money slot it was designed to mark with it just a matter of what number of their land all certainly you keyed in order to get that deal done as an alternate the only don't get a deal done soon after well said the market Walmart but he's going to get in the cab of the month RT often about seventy employees probably about eighteen million dollars a year from her brown what Odell Beckham you know would be argue all day who is there a lot you know D. as he is that good well that's not the point how many brown is the hive pay off of dark room again in on raider these government of trouble and I know he's not been charged with the cowboys but it doesn't matter when your number's up in and what you're after four and then again the cowboys of a pair to make him a very highly paid was he won the gavel let's move to dak Prescott is a talking to Claire until June of the great cowboy insider offer dak he deserves to get paid because he's been a model citizen he's led the team to the playoffs he's big strong is durable but the type of money that he once Clarence what are you hearing about how difficult that negotiation will be or not be because quarterback money has been going through the roof the last couple years and he's only thrown for ten thousand yards he doesn't have a body of work like a lot of a league hall of Famers before him how tough of a deal is this going to be our guest is the bottom line is it is what it is for the quarter back money Nick out more than the standard yeah yeah they've been through there you know and and with with all their quarterback is one thing that's important notice yeah what haven't grown for ten thousand yard at this point is career at twenty three if you stop or more yards in Troy Aikman Tony rumble and and artist Salvador Nickerie whenever twenty six years old you know from a cowboy stamp twenty way ahead of the curve they believe me along and bright future they're committed to him for a long term and they understand it is going to be somewhere between thirty and thirty two million dollar project work what do you think you should a car to win some money or not that's we're going to get you know he compares favorably to Carson within the second overall pick in the in the same gravity came out in the day Hey you have a winning record your evil during that time and the cab would like a little static thing he's getting better and better Clarence hill June you're as we wrap it up so I trust your numbers and the numbers that you're throwing out comparative all's we quarterbacks wide receivers and running backs I think all three of the deals get done but we know that that offense of one's been paid and we know some of the holes that they have Jason Witten comes back this leads me to believe Clarence at this is the biggest Super Bowl or bust run that we've seen in quite some time for a franchise because of everybody's about to get paid and they haven't won a Superbowl plus the the offense of one's been paid already you got a win because at some point they're going to be salary cap hits and **** two three four years from now if you're paying the stars all this money major league now on any given day the martyr largest got traded you know you got it back Monday on the side of all this is so that's why she went down this is your window you know you didn't get it done with that goes on a rookie honored rookie deal for grant money deal now you have time to pay the Piper deck of the output video foreground quarterback reward you a true so bald one thirty three games and all the rest of the Barden table he deserved to get his money is the department of good but it is the base of other so often the cowboys understand that they understand that in this world you will be paying your stars or so I can start a lot of money you have a young team around in the cab with a draft well the good hopefully continue in their sector continue to drive well to pay them to start the big money in drafting you young guys around the field and they got a log out also a one year deal like around a carbon Robert Quinn those are how they fill out the roster when you're paying your star the big money yes office long after a time on plan a big tree on often of the market long gap play who will next be wonderful company here that phase one else planned sales we wrap it up plants ox nor is really unique to me for those who haven't been there to see that the cowboys move such a global franchise to Oxnard to train and then they have the biggest fan base arguably in north American sports and their fans can book a vacation at the end of the summer to get out there and watch training camp one of the benefits of the cowboys being in Oxnard in your opinion all you do is their number one is the web yeah and I've I've been covering the team from nineteen ninety six whenever in Austin in the searing heat did you miss to the mall it was called balls and then they try to go to counseling and Alamodome yellow cab was always like to go away for camp to to make a kind of a boot camp city but also to connect with their fan bases in you but you're coming to California days back Tom Landry they become a California voters since the sixties naked with thousand oaks before Jimmy moved in Austin but connect with the fan base seven merchandise seventy surgery got you Sir truck yeah around town the merchandise California fan base it again it would seem get away to go back to to their here quarter of star your regular season but definitely based it's it's been about marketing it's been about seven the fans America seems fairly connect with fans who were not able to get the games in Texas and also.

"You just mentioned you have star players closer to the end of the contract and everything you do is a team executive everything you do is judged by the rest of the team so you're in a line at your door to someone with two years left and that's always the case the problem for Elliott is he might do a contract and the reason I say that is shore with Gordon and Elliot they put out some offers and they can look at themselves and say you know what this guy had two years left or option option for Gordon and but we're working off or something but it's not good it's not good it's not anywhere near what they want now if they turned that down the team can say oh wow well we did something we didn't want to do and you still don't want it I just think here's the contracts that Gordon and Elliot are going to get obviously guarantee this year because they're going to play this year guarantee next year and then it's kind of we'll see after that no matter how much money to get the next two years these teams are going to guarantee beyond twenty twenty it's just for running back you just don't do that and you know let me in bell everything's been proven that there's not gonna be a lot of guaranteed money socked into these running back contracts two years Max well you know what Jerry Jones is such a bad poker player now that right this isn't Jerry Jones from the early nineties this a different Jerry Jones and everybody knows it you know you can say what you want Jerry's going to cave here at some point would you sense that if you were Zeke's Agen it did you would say your client Hey you know what he's going to give you what is great market value they need you he needs to win a Superbowl he's desperate to win a Superbowl we're going to get paid yeah I think he's going to be an operative word is listening here's what I did and I had a few these you know job on Walker and and Mike McKenzie Donald driver in my day and three things you can do one you can totally norm say show up to when you show up to you can rip up their country kommer brand spanking new top of the market deal teams don't want to do that and sort of the middle ground is kind of thrown some extra money that what I call nobles like some work out money some performance incentives some extra per game roster bonus is that bring it up millions of dollars without you can face your team and say Hey I didn't care that up I'm not doing that I think even the fact that I think I'll get a new deal but I think Eliot will quote unquote caves that he won't get this top of the market major guaranteed Todd Gurley forty five million plus guarantee deal I just don't think it'll happen but I also look at this and the leverage the cowboys may have is you know what we're gonna give you less guaranteed money because look at the way you've acted off the field off young right you know that you we're sorry we can't give you that guaranteed money that you thing but do you think that that is going to be used in this situation I thought I saw a quote from Stephen Jones talk about telling his own kids you know everything's judged your your Facebook posts you know it the whole body of work is judge which is kind of a subtle not so subtle hint that yes that's part of the equation and when I negotiated contracts I didn't hit over the head with a hammer to the agent but they knew you know someone had off the field problems someone had character issues well documented that affects the whole thing just like good character adds value to contract negotiations when I was representing players the teams love for their work ethic it all it all goes in there it's all part of the mix if we talk in a month what's the situation in Dallas my guess is Ellie it's in with a contract guaranteeing I twenty five to thirty million over the next two years and nothing guaranteed after that and then Jack is Jack signed Amari Cooper sign yeah I think troopers closer you know I know jolt told that the camp these days Joel Siegel is agent I you know Prescott he is going to be a big deal we'll just see where that is I I can criticize the cowboys for this stand and the last thing is that you can stagger these when I had a quarterback or star receipt I mean you got a staggering gonna get one done last year you get you can't be letting all these guys come at the same time now maybe didn't plan on Elliott obviously but that's the problem here what's the craziest negotiation you ever had you not no names craziest well given name is isn't well I'm not asking give a lot of details but the nice thing you I'd rather you didn't give me the name they gave me all the details what a player that I was star player for us and I just could not get to focus on those deals so I flew to him went to his place for shows up every day for lunch he looks walks in the door looks enter what the blank are you doing here not said we gotta get you deal done he's in a relaxed you know and play golf so I'm not a good golfer he's a scratch golfer we play hit and I try to get it done that day thirty the next big on finding on the focus and the agents were down and we signed a huge deal on a golf course somewhere so that was Mississippi your Intel Mississippi I'm not talking about that did it did the the guy you were sitting down with playing golf to the sound anything like this the deal of course that's our right to read for me personally I've spent three years managing managing Brett and Erin who you know it was a it was you had one guy it's not you know it's not great to go walking every day and see your replacement sitting there and on Aaron side is not great walking everyday and not knowing if you'll ever play but when you know that Rogers could be as good if not better than far I'm gonna say same first practice first mini camp I mean this guy you knew that he was looking around and all my god the guy takes the ball movement and all drivers sixty yards on a rope and Ted Thompson never ever showed emotion but I will somehow I locked eyes with him when that happened and he gave me a look like we just saw the future but done did people want to move far earlier than what happened no but I think you saw towards the end I think everyone saw it was not the recruitment in southern Mississippi like it had been every year it was more okay you decide and that's when he retired and we turned the keys over to Erin of course and then I think in retrospect in what we should have done it would have been a very hard conversation but I knew in the back of my mind he get the itch again and you know maybe we should a had the tough conversation that you know if you want to come back just let me know we're turning this over you know this this is Erin because when you do come back as everyone knows it was Messi was ugly and I you know I heard Mike McCarty town those three words that no one ever wants to hear which are we've moved on and that's tough for anyone especially such a great player like Brett such such the face of the franchise for two decades if you had one game to win you could have Rogers are far at their peak you're killing me here that's my job I guess say bread because he's done you know Erin cat more to come so it's gonna be a tougher question hours the one man with a look back on both right by the slightest of you know one of those toward France finishes there and your great to talk to you hopefully I got you in trouble with somebody and share your time soon the girl you Dan all right Andrew Brandt used to be with the Packers now a columnist for the M. M. QB yeah I think this is the deal gets done but I do think it's not going to be as lucrative as he's hoping for Adam Schefter reporting Tyree kill bruised his quad expected to be fine I saw where the headline came over an email carted off the field Tyree killed I went and then just got an update it's a bruised quad yes phone he was technically on a cart riding off the field or the medical area but he wasn't here he'd call wasn't loaded onto a park on a stretcher he was sitting comfortably like I can be a passenger in a golf cart I'm looking at the picture right now he was comfortably setting is fine okay it's better if you say carted off she's in trouble night twenty one after the hour David spade will join is more of your phone calls coming up and some tweaks here that I want to get to twenty two after the hour here Dan Patrick show simply safe home security according to.

"P. and I'll talk to you soon thank you Mike I appreciate it I couldn't disagree with you more on the mark Cooper I don't have anything bad to say about him I think mom Mari's misunderstood he played hard for the writers he was quiet why on the sideline reporter for the team on TV he doesn't do many interviews we spoke to one last year and he was excited about his future the problem is with the Mari Cooper is he has the same agent as Khalil Mack Joel Siegel and Joel Siegel is a mercenary who wants to get his players the most amount of money no matter where they play so remember the reader the reason why the raiders moved off a Khalil Mack was because they couldn't afford it and for those who say how could they not afforded thirteen wasn't any good they were gonna give Khalil Mack sixty million guaranteed ninety million total on a defense that was ranked twenty six to twenty fifth in the league so Jon Gruden look at the team and said completely there's no chance we're going to win with these players and Jack del Rio got a lot of those players that would twelve and for the twenty sixteen when Derek Carr broke his leg but Gruden came in and I talked about this with Gruden this weekend last year a training camp Gruden pulled me aside and said we got to get this back on track and I looked at him and I didn't get it at that moment was was he mean by this this is pretty good roster it wasn't rude lifted up the hood of the car the raider nation vehicle and said I can't win with these guys for whatever reason it was in the first move was to get rid of mac Gruden never wanted to get rid of mac Gruden came to the raiders to coach back but they couldn't afford to given sixty million guaranteed and then build the team around it so they get those draft picks out of Chicago mac is a peace love Khalil Mack I grew up with Lawrence Taylor ray Lewis Lawrence tell I put Khalil Mack in that boat but getting back to Amari Cooper Amari Cooper once Gruden realized that he could get a first round pick for a guy who was gonna hold out again because he had the same exact agent that we were talking about is Khalil Mack Gruden said I'm not going down this road anymore there's no way we can go down this road and they ended up moving him now we'll see what happens because the last I looked when Marc Cooper was ball in out in Dallas he's the reason they went to the playoffs he gave dak Prescott all the confidence in the world to be a leak or borderline elite and you had a dole threat Z. kilo it running it off a play action and Amari Cooper breaking through coverage Jerry Jones is Hey Jack Zeke unless it completely screws up and Amari Cooper because if Jerry Jones doesn't find a way to go out and pay for Amari Cooper what a waste of a trade it was as Jones believes he is back and he's going to try to get to the next level Erin in lakeside you're in the jungle on the Jim Rome show well and we'll get to that well we'll get them on the other side we appreciate that well when we come back we have Eric Karros who's going to join us legendary Dodger on what's happening with the baseball trade deadline coming up which I think is enormous and baseball has to play by the rules because they have a new system in place Eric Karros joins us you can get in at eight hundred six three six eight six eight six some on Twitter at JT the brick in for Jim Rome in the jungle you're listening to the Jim Rome.

Kelly again to be in big trouble one thousand four hundred and thirty four yards nine I'm touchdowns without sick cal boys no chance to do anything so what type of leverage does he have a she's not reporting to Oxnard I mentioned eight J. grain and what happened with his work out Cincinnati was going to be a playoff team but now I get to the most important player in the NFL coming off the weekend that fog Tyree kill I love the word thug I use it five times a day this has nothing to do with race has nothing to do with religion or anything that has to do with men who intimidate other people especially women no debate he punched his girlfriend in college was pregnant he treated her terribly for most of their relationship but they have such a toxic relationship that they still have kids together isn't that nice people who don't get along and fight each other bringing more kids into the world so he showed up yesterday over the weekend he was at camp in Kansas city and he floated through the softball media of Kansas city as he went to the podium and said the US but to my son my tears that would probably refer me teaching myself how to box because will we do have boxing whether at our house and I was I like he's like Iron Man so he loves Ironman akel man he's like Daddy come all called him all the time so as if that's what it is man you know sometimes things get thrown out of context you know when Phyllis get involved in emotions but I don't get us out it right now so thank you guys I love you she to back man thank you for the support you can't I mean I love you I guess I'm one of the present each and every day he said she the back so he's back he's happy and I just like so I'll just saw the B. roll I watched it on sports center in the morning I saw a couple of clips of it that's the Kansas city media just looked on nodding their heads and smiling back at him can you imagine if Tyree kill had that podium session in New York if you had that in a real market would they be coming down on him asking him topple collection so Tyree kill is a huge part of that team one thousand four hundred and seventy nine yards twelve touchdowns with out Tyree kill Kansas city does not get to the playoffs I repeat they don't get to the playoffs let alone win the Superbowl they lost the AFC championship game as you recall in overtime the morning of the AFC championship game Robert Kraft was in west Palm Beach at the orchids of Asia not looking at his watch not concerned well what happens if my plane is a fuel dock I got to get to the police the championship game from west Palm Beach that'll happen on that day where Kansas city could have put down the patriots but they weren't able to do it and that gives me a good opportunity to say one more thing before we get to the writers and hard knocks is that I believe in the Patrick more homes affect if you don't have Patrick my homes in the next ten years he's going to kick your **** up and down the NFL so every team's gotta worry about my home's going forward he is unique he is going to be one of the all time greats in the discussion with all of his stats and all the George if he stays healthy but without Tyree kill more homes is not going to the playoffs let alone so Kansas city's in a really tough spot here from Andy Reid to the hunt family to the media and everybody who dropped the ball on tie re kill we're gonna talk about golden Tate missing four games because of a fertility drugs that he allegedly took four games this fog Tyree kill is allowed to play opening week in the NFL after all of his transgressions the audio tape which I thought did a man when he threatened the woman on that audiotape and said you should be terrified of me to use the P. word that was enough for me for two games but look they did an investigation and the NFL couldn't come up with much and it's because the NFL that want to override the cops who were covering that story eight hundred six three six eight six eight six at JT the brick all quickly on hard knocks shows up in napa Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday and hard knocks was there with the silver and black like nothing I've ever seen before hi Antonio brown came in on a hot air balloon as his entrance about a mile away then he pulled up in a limo and I'm telling everybody no matter if you're raider fan or not this is going to be the most incredible season of hard knocks that you've ever seen you got Gruden may Oct you got car Antonio brown Richie incognito all those Clemson draft picks it took three kids from Clemson who seem to be role models and the writers blew everybody away the Saturday night as they held their alumni dinner at the winery silver oak and I can't imagine what this cost but the hard not screw with their they were hanging out in the grapes they were hanging owl drones taken pictures of all this watching the alumni and the team in our act it was incredible gonna be a lot of pressure on the writers right out of the gate this year as they open up at home against the Denver Broncos on the last ever Monday Night Football game ever played in Oakland think about that for a second and then they get Kansas city on a short "To the new episode of the unapologetic truth would right now, we have a winner. Scotty, how you doing brother? I'm doing fantastic. What a crazy day. Absolutely crazy is gonna get crazy when I break some more news in the second big news before we started the show del best them junior has been traded from the giants to the Browns were first third and Gebreel peppers. That's a lot to give up for arguably one two three most receivers NFL any of you criticize what the raiders gave up for Antonio Brown after the Browns gave up a one at three and peppers. Renters. Give a three of five and gave Antonio Brown more money that he rightfully deserved and he earned you're crazy. Great deal for the raiders. I'm not saying so bad deal for the Browns because the brass position now not just win the division. But make a run in the playoffs. You got to be happy. You're a Browns fan. Scotty. How do you feel about deal? So far we're talking about the Brown. The absolutely fleeced. What's it just shows? You the power that a player has. And I think a lot of play a lot of lot of fans are saying, well, you know, didn't pay Khalil MAG choir. They now being other players if you think about it Khalil Mack, while fold the same kind of thing that Brown did the raiders offered him three times the top money for a defensive player in the NFL. And they were rejected and got around until Joel Siegel said, you know, what my boys gonna sit out for the season if he doesn't get more money than Aaron Donald. I think that was the straw that camel's back, but again appointing out that fat because players right now seem to have a little bit more power. And they're using it. If they've got the talent we see that with Brown. And now we're seeing with Odal Beckham junior, which by the way, I am very glad that Dorsey is no longer in the division because that GM has got the Browns nightmare. Most Indus Kim got the whole MC look Brown right now the way doing things, and that's the vision when you really look at it. Pittsburgh has Ben Rothlisberger juju Smith Connor and who the daddy bagels? They're going to be a dumpster fire. Just like they were prior to Marvin Lewis. Let's be honest. And then when he flipped a Baltimore you have my boy Baker Mayfield Emma boy Lamar Jackson love, by the way. Who do you going have more fading to run your offense at this point Baker or Lamar it's easily Baker Cleveland is put themselves in position that guy said not only the win that division but make a run in the place. Got some news writer, Scott. I'm glad you Cleal MAG. I wanna talk about that. I'm glad it's me. And you talking about it news right now from rapport cheese are indeed talks with the forty Niners praise towards deformed star path rusher things have escalated that it could get done by the end of the night tonight four to work on a new contract with which is a big piece to it. Another warhead. Is leaving the city looks like just in Houston aren't going to be the same team..

"Myself John and Joe discussion yesterday about Chad. And we thought it was the best thing for the Broncos. Chad. So that's our job is to is to figure out the best thing for the football team. That's why I was done. Vance Joseph the head coach of the Denver Broncos. John is John Elway. The GM Joe is Joe Ellis, the defacto owner team one of the three trustees that is operating the franchise until one of the seven children of Pat bolan is deemed to be qualified to take over. I get that. It was the best thing for the Broncos. Chad Kelly would probably disagree that it was the best thing for him. Right. How often does someone who got fired say, you know, what that was the best thing for me? I prefer to not have revenue I prefer to not be employed in the field that I've chosen I prefer to not have a chance to become a quarterback in the NFL. Thank you. Thank you. That really helps me. Chad Kelly had been climbing the depth chart. He had been a good story. What are you root for your root for a good story? And at some point Chad Kelly was going to play if the Broncos continued on their current path this year. Now, they continue on the path. They started last Thursday night. He wouldn't have played. But you don't have the cardinals on your schedule every week. The chiefs are coming up on Sunday in Kansas City. At some point. I think Chad Kelly would have been the break glass in event of emergency for Vance Joseph to save his job. Maybe when they fire. Vance Joseph John Elway will say it's the best thing for the Broncos. And it's the best thing for Vance. Maybe they'll say that maybe that's going to become the new mutual separation. Whenever somebody gets fired. It's the best thing for the team. And the best thing for the guy. It's never the best thing for the guy. Especially if there is some sort of substance abuse issue going on here. You want structure you want normalcy? You want routine you don't want a guy who's just left to his own devices? You want to keep him within the confines of a program where he has things to do that will keep him from further instances of the thing that got him into trouble. If that's what it is. Now. The problem with Chad Kelly. It's very simple. You know, the the standard excuses are made for the stars examples are made of the scrubs. It just wasn't clear where Kelly fit he was a potential star who had yet gotten a chance to shine. And ultimately the Broncos decided he was closer to scrub than star. So they make an example out of him instead of making an excuse for him. And the obvious question is if he had been the starting quarterback would he have been the guy who gets the excuse made for him. The question was posed advanced Johnson yesterday, not in those terms, but the basic premises this. If he was the starting quarterback would he have been cut for getting arrested for first degree criminal trespass? He wasn't the starter. That's an irrelevant question. He was the backup. Okay. He made a mistake. And we had a long discussion about how to handle it. You know, it was it was it was to waive Chen as simple as that. Very simple. Joseph also was asked whether there was a pattern of misconduct during the time that Chad Kelly was with the team and Joseph said, no someone told me yesterday that the situation likely boiled down to this. When Kelly was drafted with the last selection in two thousand seventeen at the behest of his uncle Jim Kelly and after a series of events off the field that that caused him along with injuries to plummet to the bottom of around seven. Kelly may have been told in no uncertain terms. You got one strike. And it took them a while to decide to stick with their one strike mandate because the guy was in position to become the starter, potentially. And it was a good story. But if you bring a guy in with the understanding that you've got one strike, and he swings and misses. You got to be true to your? Your orders your objectives? Your mandates? So that's quite possibly what occurred in more. Details came out yesterday. Just bizarre stuff out of party. That was thrown by von Miller. Halloween party got hostile and aggressive with the guest security removed him while security was removing and we got a hostile and aggressive with them. They tried to keep him at the place where the party was being held cool down. He got away from the security officials, and then there was a house a block away, and he just went in and sat down on the couch. Didn't even know the people sat down on the couch woman sitting there with a young child. She yelled for help man came in with a vacuum cleaner tube and whacked him over the head with it. And he took off. Then went back to where the party was was getting ready to get into an Uber when police arrested him for first degree criminal trespass. Even if the door is not locked just can't walk into somebody's house kids walk in just hang out. Mike kramer. Welcome in the head with a vacuum cleaner tube. And he took off. It probably could have fended the guy off. I don't know anything about the guy who was wielding the vacuum cleaner to. But it's just good. The Chad Kelly new to flee. Don't fight flight. So. Now, he'll be on waivers. I don't envision anyone claiming him. Could the Broncos bring it back at some point. I don't know. Could he ended up with the alliance of American football? Yes. Why wouldn't you? You know, somebody's gonna give this guy a second chance if he can play they're going to give them a second chance or third chance. Whatever whatever chance he's up to he's going to get it talent will get you a second chance. It may not have been enough to get him his second chance in Denver, but he's going to get a second chance somewhere. And there's still not an overabundance of quarterbacks to the point where people are going to turn up their nose at Chad Kelly. They may turn up the nose calling Kabir, Nick. I wonder how much of that discussion. Was part of the conversation in Denver. That we've snubbed calling cabinet for the last two years. We can't we can't give this guy a second chance. Can you imagine what the blowback going to be? And if they would bring him back g you got to quarterbacks you could sign one. The guy who you know. Busted into somebody. So didn't even bus just walked into somebody's house and sat down on a couch. After this string of incidents at a Halloween party or to the the guy who has done nothing wrong. That you've just liberally ignored when he may be the best option you've had over the last three years. Patrick Peterson has been the subject of some trade talk initiated by him and or his agent. He's got the same age, and they represented Khalil Mack. Anytime something like this comes up. Now. It's like, oh here comes the chess match and Joel Siegel is going to win it. Patrick Peterson reportedly wanted out of Arizona desperately to the point where names of teams were emerging two days later Peterson issues this statement, I've been incredibly frustrated with how the season has gone, but my energy is one hundred percent focused on being part of the solution and helping us turn this around. I've never shied away from a challenge before. And I'm not starting now, I have always given my all to the cardinals organization. My teammates and fans that is what I intend to do for the years to come. I am in Arizona cardinal and my focus is on this week's game. Okay. He's under contract for two more years beyond two thousand eighteen. For as long as he's the new Joe Thomas, I think every year he's going to be the subject of trade talk because I don't see the cardinals instantly turning it around. I think they're going to be struggling next year as well. I don't think you rebuild this thing in one off season. So Peterson is going to be the new will hear won't. He get traded guy until he's gone from Arizona or look if they want to sign him to a new extension that makes office he's not going to be traded. So be it. And he reportedly met with owner Michael Bidwill on Tuesday for thirty minutes. Look, I think that the explanation is this. He wanted out the cardinals did not want to trade him and against that backdrop, no one stepped forward with anything even remotely close to what it would take to get him. So. You figure out fairly quickly. He's not leaving. So you renew your vows. You know, there's no way out. So your new year vows and you move forward planning simple. The fact that he was silent. As this thing was going on Monday tells you everything you need to know he wanted out, and he knew there was no way out and short of retirement, which would mean sacrificing the multi million dollar contract that he has in Arizona that was his only choice. If you know, if if no one is going to offer the cardinals what it would take to get you in trade, then you continue playing for the cardinals at a base salary of eleven million dollars. That's it. And at eleven million dollars over a seventeen week season. Because you get paid for your bye week. That is six hundred and forty seven thousand dollars each and every week you're gonna walk away from that. Now next year eleven million dollars. You're going to walk away from that. No the year after that twelve point three million dollars total you're gonna walk away from that. No. Do you want to be traded to a contender? Yes. If no one makes an offer. What do you do? What do you do you love the one, you're with plain and simple? But at least he gets paid. And that's something that doesn't happen in college athletics. And there's a quote yesterday that it upset me for a variety of reasons. One of which was it actually forced me to publicly state, my agreement with stats will tell you the stupid thing that was said, and maybe this is all a sign that the gravy train is eventually going to come to an end for everyone who is making money off of the college athletes who make none more PFC live right after this. Feels like we're interrupting the.

Raiders fan the shock worn off yet And why did Jon Gruden Reggie McKenzie and the organization decide this. Was the time to part with Khalil Mack it was the. Shocker to send shockwaves through, your holiday weekend it's after. Hours with Amy Lawrence, on CBS sports radio if you are listening. Of course you're listening wherever you are listening please send me a tweet a law radio or put a post, on, our Facebook page after hours with Amy Lawrence. Let me know where and how, you're listening and if, you include your name that'd be great too because some of your Twitter handles do not reveal your name and I just. I can't read some of the, Twitter handles they make me sound like. A we'll just a person on the Radio Plus I am worried that you might trick, me into saying something that sounds even worse So if. You could include your name that would be awesome eight five five two one two four seven that's our phone, number, were going to spend a couple of minutes. Now in the bay area from, the athletic San Francisco, he covers the raiders and the NFL Victoria is joining us thank you so much for a couple of minutes even though. It's a holiday weekend I know, the reaction from fans initially was pretty. Intense now that roughly forty eight hours have passed Vic has died down any at all I'm not, sure has I think you're regimen. Kennedy talked to the Catholics call yesterday we just got. Jon Gruden today press conference and after the, walk through I don't know either one To really appease the, concerns what did Gruden say to explain, why he made this move Back was not gonna report trying For a while they think they're going to. Be close to what the offer and so the support to move on and just of And just kind of. Said that the offer two first round picks was unique so. They got a pretty much do the couldn't turn down Do you? Agree, with that do you agree with two first round picks and that being kind of of a move that that the raiders, should make no I think I think you should never trade Future hall of Famer in their prime Clean spotless record never got any trouble Locker Reasoning drafting kind of pixels your franchise All those guys so I think one you don't trade cruel to if for some reason. You feel you have to do it you, is the most leverage before draft Five months ago and they realized Let's do something you guys employees, employees this year The? Move were you gotta know players for this year Looking back. We can. Actually use the season a pick next year But really I mean you have your players are like remove. Cooler trying to win out now you're pretty much going Best player So for for. A while so what about the the? Reporting part do you believe that he was going to hold out and not report in time for the start of the season or even in the? First month I thought and I thought he was a commend this week I think Cool Give up. There Paycheck, for came on I think Improve Michigan game because I don't think he misses the game, and the raiders get blown. Out give them a blank check I don't think. So versus Before one of them Does anyone besides hurt his pocket book when you, look at Donald wearing don't, hold out last year came back this, year and they, got I just think is times I hold. Of the big check I think it takes. A long longer strategy if you look at it Joel Siegel's choirs Agents held out? Free season but most of them I? Think almost all of them come, back and play they taper, covers the raiders and the NFL for, the athletic in, San Francisco with us here after hours on. CBS sports radio how close were the two. Sides in terms of getting a deal done Not close they offer the minimum offer bachelor. February we came back, with one knows told me the exact numbers this is. Shown how far what the numbers were but there weren't close and obviously that weren't close enough where the kind of talk for, a long time I know contact over the summer star just report one That's from there Seven dollars Insured offers Their mind Liquor Okay To, warms maybe we should do. It they got to arms and I saw this. Quote from Jon Gruden where he said they're trying to, divide, us, people, are, trying. To divide us referring to fans media blah blah blah blah blah is this the type of a? Move that you think can. Divide the raiders locker room I think I mean I think the players officer in shock tweeted after surprise reserve card Kinda guy of poplar guys Mariah I think probably talk.
