"It literally will last for 40 years. You will basically know that name for forever. Listen, it's a bad fuck up. Like, you know, all of us have made mistakes. You just, when you make that kind of mistake, it's bad. It's the most prominent player in the sport. It's one of the most famous teams when it comes to the Yankees and professional sports. And you had the guy going to a team where you didn't end up going to. Like, it's bad. So undoubtedly it is about speed, all of us obviously. I shouldn't say all of us, but you know, it's a competitive business. And yeah, I have no doubt that Heyman wants to be Joel. Well, not Joel Sherman because he's his partner. But yeah, John morose, Ken Rosenthal. I mean, these guys all get along actually the baseball guys are pretty good about giving credit, but they're all competitive too. They want to be first. And that's a bad one. And what's bad about it is the only person who would care about him being first is maybe, I mean, I don't even know. Let me finish. Let me finish. Let me finish with that. I don't even know. So haman works, I think, for MLB network in the post. Right. Okay. So maybe the people who pay his salary there want him to be first, but in terms of sports fans and people on Twitter, nobody cares. We're taping this shortly after judge sign with the Yankees. Do you know who broke the story? I don't know. I rest my case. I rest my case. Do you know who it is though? I'm actually curious. I don't either. Yeah, I don't know. Because what happens is someone may break it, but then 20 writers all at the same time say exactly. I'm hearing confirmed the accurate first who had it, you know, but nobody cares. It's strictly a Twitter thing. I think, well, I think the writers care, obviously. It's a bit of a competition among them. And I get it. Trust me, I'm not taking myself away. You know, I would have loved to have beaten marchand on Al Michaels going to Amazon. But the weird thing about this one, Jimmy and both of what we've talked about this many times is Heyman said I get paid by Twitter, right? There's no monetization for Heyman unless the New York Post hired him because he has the reputation of being first or having like a ton of Twitter follows, which is possible. But you're totally correct in that like two minutes after the transaction happens, nobody remembers who broke the transaction. It has no real meaning. The only way you really get fucked is if you're wrong. And people remember that. Now. Well, because let me just, I want to just take it back off one thing you said, because if you think about it logically, what the system should be is, okay, let's say John Hammond thinks Aaron judge signed with the Jackson. He was wrong, but at that time, when he tweeted, that's what he thought.

"Jimmy trying to thanks for listening, post Super Bowl fallout week. We've got Andrew marchand. We get into way, way more than the Super Bowl with Andrew for the New York Post. And obviously he got his own sports media podcast. Get into the Al Michael situation as Troy Aikman leaving Fox, Sean mcvay, is he going to go into broadcasting. Manning cast copycats, Chris Russo and Stephen a Smith on first take and obviously it thoughts on the Super Bowl telecast, all that with marchand followed by the train of thought segment with sala cata, where we get into some of the stuff about the Super Bowl halftime show. And we had a big discussion about Stone Cold Steve Austin, possibly coming back to the WWE. So check that out before we get to marjan and train of thoughts or reminder last week boomer syson was on the pod two weeks ago, Brian Curtis, three weeks ago, Roman Reigns Joe buck Jim nantz. Those pods, all the archives, if you haven't listened to any of those, check them out, subscribe, rate, and review, try to review really helps a lot. I appreciate that. And that's it for the plugs. Let's get to the pod. Andrew marchand from the New York Post followed by train of thoughts at solicitor right here on this week's aside media podcast. All right, joining me now, SI media podcast regular, write it for the New York Post host of the Martian and overran podcast. He is Andrew marchand, Andrew, how are you? Good, how you doing? I'm good. Did you enjoy the Super Bowl? I did. I did. I was out in LA for a week before. So that was good. And then the game, you know, not a great game, but I think you give out of a ten, you probably give it a good 7 or 8. Maybe a 7. Why were you in LA for a week, just a hobnob and find out where all Michaels is going to go? Yeah, basically. Yeah, it's a good for me, covering baseball like a country like it's the winner meetings. So it's actually more fruitful than the winter meetings. My baseball writer friends listening to sit around and wait for Joel Sherman, Rosenthal, name in a tweet, everything out, and now you get some stuff when you're out the winter meetings, but it's a trillion baseball writers waiting for Scott bors to talk. Yeah, it's fruitful for me. It lays the groundwork for the year. A lot of ways. Where you at radio row? I did go there. I went by their briefly a couple of days. I talked to some people. How was it? How horrible was it? Oh, how horrible. I think it was that horrible. I mean, I talked to McAfee, I talked to Russo, so it was good for me. You go right to the big guys. You're not fooling around with Joe theisman and Eric Dickerson like every sports talk radio show in the country. Yeah. I just kind of checked it out. But it wasn't kind of like the main reason to be out there. So, but yeah, it seemed all right. I think next year there's a chance we get back to more normalcy. It ticked up again. I forgot the exact numbers in terms of how many people were there, but it wasn't a zoo. I quite honestly, you don't want to pandemic. Bruce there. But. It was a little bit, you know, those things are a little crowded, it's kind of gross, you know, beforehand. So a little less people is not the worst thing. You said you talked to McAfee, do you have a McAfee feature coming? No, I just introduced myself to him. I've been pretty kind to him, but on the air once it aired injuries on, and she said, I don't like her and then he said, I didn't like him, so I just wanted to introduce myself because I've been pretty positive. I blew him up once about he was kind of campaigning for Monday night a few years ago on Twitter, and then we DMed and it was all cool. And it might be cool. That might not be anything. No big deal there. But I just like to introduce myself to people like covers, I try to, you know, so I can know them from covering them. It's important to me. If I can, I think it's better. So that's what I did. I've grown to like his show. I mean, I don't think anyone can have anything, but massive respect for how he's built his media. Career empire. Even before the 40 million from FanDuel or whatever it was, 400 million. But. People focus on the roger stuff, but he does good interviews. His interview style I like it. And I like his takes. I like the way he does the way he runs his show. I had wrote, I wrote one negative. I don't even think it was negative. I mean, I guess if you're him, you could see it as negative. But he had gone on the air one Monday and said, like, every NFL analyst no, no. He went on the air and said, like, he can't believe how bad some NFL analysts are. And I'm like, if you're going to do that, you got to name some names because he did it in a pretty broad way. I think it's the energy. I think the energy brings. I think we talk about Russo all the time. And I think radio a lot of time has a lot to do with energy. It has to be sincere energy, right? Like Chris Russo is missing a screw, but it's a good screw to be missing for radio. McAfee. There's just an energy. It's his friends, which I always say when people make pairings. You can't just put somebody with their friends always. But you're just gonna have a better conversation. We're gonna have a better we know each other, you know, we've never worked together, but now we've talked enough on off the air. We have a rapport. It's gonna be a better podcast because we kind of know I know where you're gonna go kind of know where I can teach you, you can tease me, you know, that type of stuff. And so I think the main reason his stuff works real well is that energy that that show has. Yeah, for sure. You mentioned Russo, we're taping this a little bit after his first official episode of first take with Stephen a every Wednesday aired. I'm still coming off the high. I couldn't even believe how good it was. I seem like an obvious win. When they did it the first time, when you go way back when I guess skip left, Stephen a wanted Russo to be the full-time co host. That was one of the people. At least on his list, I'm not saying that was the number one on his list. Adam Sean, I think it was another guy he had interest in. And it didn't happen, of course. But this seems like, and I don't know 5 days a week, maybe it'd be great. There's two lunatics that's going at it. It's an art form. It's not, who cares what they say. You are tweeting all the social. It's not what they say. It's just right. You know, I mean, doggie, again, we grew up on like literally we grew up 89. I don't know how old you are exactly. Jimmy, but 89, I mean, I'm 15 years old, or 87, I get to start. So I'm 13 years old when fans start and Kirsten Mike kind of came in real quick. So you kind of grow up on them. So to hear the doggy isms, you know, he even, what do you say, life on the line? Flat as a pancake. Maybe even said life on a line of Steven a and like he brought up Kirk Cousins better than dak Prescott it was really fun. Exactly. So it's just he just has a sense. And he also has this thing of doing of like, which is so enjoyable. He doesn't like in an argument, he'll just say names like he's doing like they were doing the Dodgers and the Lakers comparing who's more popular in LA and he just said Vince Molly Sandy Koufax. Has nothing to do with the argument. Oh my God. That was one of the clips I tweeted. He said scenario 50. I said on Twitter recently that I'm going to start a Twitter account just dedicated to all the times he uses the word scenario, which never make any sense. He got to do a thing to the tribe called quest song..

"Nothing two batters into the game. Runner scores from first on a hustle double in the gap. That's insane. The Yankees can't physically do that. Randy rosarina scores from first on a line drive single that got bobbled for like one and a half seconds by Kiki Hernandez. Nelson Cruz homers off the roof, Randy rosarina swings and misses at pitch one. Swings and foul tips pitched to and swings and jacks pitch three, 450 feet out to left field. Same pitch three times. Any time's it up with tip bomb. Joey Gallo, how many times does he get the same fastball down the middle three times? And never adjusts and never figures out how to re time it. You just watch that that raise Red Sox game. It felt like the rays were operating on a different speed than the Red Sox who were operating on a different speed than the Yankees. And the Yankees are just such a clear fourth place team in the raised Red Sox Jays yanks dichotomy right now. The run it back stuff. I mean, I don't know if I don't know if Aaron Boone stays or goes, I'm pretty confident Brian cashman stays, but I will say that the New York media is currently rambling overtime to get you used to the idea of if Boone's not coming back, he's being replaced by an Aaron Boone. So even if you have like dreams of this entire thing being uprooted, the media, the Michael K show, Michael K said it, Joel Sherman said it in his column. If Boone stays or goes, let's say he goes, cashman's picking up a boon. Cashman's not picking up a buck showalter. Cashman is not hiring Bruce bochy. Cashman is not hiring Mike sosha. These are the examples that K used. You're not going to watch a veteran manager sliding or some sort. I mean, look, I don't want a I don't necessarily want a 70 year old man piling in the New York Yankees next year. I just want somebody who does what Aaron Boone does, but has a bit more independence and a bit more wherewithal. And it just feels like Boone's learned nearly nothing in his four years of doing this. His win percentage was immaculate in 2018, but that was a team that a sock puppet could have 100 games with 2019 he had a great did a great job managing. And filled the gaps in motivated his team and did it all with the bullpen warts. It didn't really matter. That was a great team. Last two years, something's gone stale. I don't know what it is. I don't know whether it's Aaron Boone or not, but he might not be the figurehead. Some genuine change needs to be made. Either Boone leaves or his coaching staff is gutted, but I will say that.

"Com With just over a minute ago, you know about this game for the Bucks leading by two. In the finals. The Sun's looking to tie the game up. They were prompted Do so beautiful alley oop. That was, you know, a tick off as teak, and I discussed there to DeAndre eight on the one hand to pass a little flip there from Devin Booker Yannis was inhabited. Rejected eight at the rim. Like I mean, kind of like Bam on a bit. I think I still thought Bam's was better Tatum. That ball was down the that was in the hole. That was incredible. It's still epic block and preserves the win over the bucks for the box as they go on to even the series at two apiece, and that Is the credit card to save of the week. All right, so let's think while we were still Hold up in our homes, and we were still very unsure as to how to navigate Covid about speaking of cold and by the way, quicker side Yankees Red Sox canceled tonight. Is it really to covid concerns inside the Yankees organization? Interesting? Interesting. I don't know if that pertains to chat to to judge or some of the all stars that came back from Colorado. But, yeah, that game That was the only game on the calendar tonight for baseball. It's actually kind of odd. Joel Sherman says. Multiple Yankees tested positive for Covid multiple Yankees tested positive. Oh, wow. Okay, Here we go The fun season. I know it's even more enjoyable, Most importantly, their health, but hopefully there, okay, but there's no game tonight. But as we were navigating Covid early I guess it was what, like April March, So whatever was on the Dan Patrick show, Russell Wilson went On Dan show, and he basically dissed the entire fridge as offensive line. Uh, didn't do anything to You know to really quell that noise, and there was some noise around that we talked about that for multiple weeks. Well, he went back on Dan show and here's what he had to say yesterday. Russell Wilson. You know, we just had a dialogue conversation, and I think that's been blown out of proportion in terms of the moment of what became, you know, unfortunate, But I think anything else you know, you know what I care about. I care about winning, and that's what I wanna do. So anyways, it's been a great off season and my teammates tonight with a lot of great time getting the working and spending time together. Is your relationship different with the Seahawks Outta boy Dad Stronger Me MP have gotten even closer. We've always been super close, so I think we have to have a great heart to heart. He's got goals. I have goals. You know, we want to do great things, you know, and so actually really dive into those and really talk about, you know. You know those those missions those goals. It was fine. So me and coach Carol's relationship stronger than ever, and I think and and also my teammates. You gotta love Dan Patrick not having the rehearsed rhetoric. How's the relationship? He talks? He talks for five minutes and there's nothing he said. Absolutely nothing. I think he's lying through his teeth. Number one. I think he has a good relation with Pete Carroll. What I'm saying that that was blown out of control out of proportion. First of all the reason it was blown out of proportions because you allowed it to have the life that it had. And my point during that entire time was number one. You don't throw teammates under the bus like that in U. S. A former player obviously agreed. Actually, you said it and I agreed. But I think more directly from my point of view was you created this narrative. You have the power to defuse it right in the ensuing days after it just took on a life of its own on every national show. Every Providence show. This was topic number one, and he did nothing. Yeah, that's the heart that that's why you know. He says he never requested a trade, which I'm sure is technically correct. But almost by circumventing speaking, I want to trade into existence. You say? Well, the teams I would want to go to our. You know, Dallas Dallas was one forget the other. Whatever. Dallas was one. What were they now, boy? I don't remember around the top of my head. Santa can tell us here in a second, but regardless of who they were. It's by saying that if you are going to trade me than trading here, the Raiders were definitely one. So if you're going to trade me trade me to one of these teams, you're essentially saying trade me. I mean, there's no other way to interpret. I'm amenable to a trade. And if it wasn't that Then he needed to tell us that correct and he didn't until, uh, you know, months much later, you know, maybe his PR people were saying, you know what? It doesn't do you any good to comment on this right now? Because it's only going to lead. More questions and going to ask you exactly what you meant by saying you want control over personnel at this point, Um, And why the reason Why? Because I'm tired of getting sacked. You basically telling us without telling us, your old lined stinks. And so I want to pick who is going to be my own lineman. What kind of offense we're going to run. But this all stems back to the beginning of the season when Russell Wilson was on a historic peace. Doing things that Pete Carroll has never really been comfortable doing, which is throwing the ball 40 times a game, right? He's always been. This goes back to his USC days. We're going to pound the rock. We're going to take advantage of mismatches and you know when defenses suck in, that's where we're gonna start throwing passes downfield. There's nothing like Russell wants to be the man, though, And so there's just it was. It was a mismatch of Philosophies at the beginning of the season that Russell was winning until he wasn't it. He wasn't and then they went back to old school, and and it it kind of probably pissed him off, you know? Very disingenuous. Yeah, that that bothers me. What I say the other day Excuses really bother me up and like disingenuous people bother me, and I'm not going to classify him as a disingenuous person. So there is a great person. He does a lot of good things Great. I know he is, but I do think he's incredibly disingenuous pertaining to the situation. Thanks lying to our face. I do. Great job by Dan. You know when you start to go out of 50 seconds soliloquy about how great to relate. No, no. How's the relationship like Dan? I love that. That's radio one. Oh, one. Like that's what you gotta do. You can't let somebody just going to rift in and say nothing. And he was saying nothing. I'm not buying it..

"You're joel sherman of new york. Post is the eggs are interested in texas rangers. Lefty joey gallo as the trade deadline approaches. We obviously been talking about this for months. This is not the not the first time you've heard the name joey gallo. Everybody had their jokes during the homerun. Derby when gallows power disappeared a perfect yankee and so did we. I the same jokes. This is serious. Note this actual no. This is someone who can help this year and beyond and we know we came away from the rangers series that the played in texas relatively unimpressed with gallows effort but he takes walks. The power has certainly locked in to form since then he looked like a different guy. I he's not my favorite trade target but in terms of shopping. I'm not looking to add someone you could be with this team for two months. I'm looking to add versatility for twenty twenty one and beyond. I'm certainly not going to be angry. If the acquire all star fifty homer power. Joey gallo lefty and put him at yankee stadium. I don't know what it's going to look like. Until i see but i do know we don't have any left power and he is a lot of you power. And he's versatile on defense. We need a center. Fielder renita leftfielder. You can play both those positions if you're really need them to play first base. You could do that too if you wanna d. h. aaron judge. He could play right field. So m. I a fan of this I'll take it I don't know if it's the tailor-made acquisition for the yankees another. The slugger who walks hits home runs and doesn't hit for average Has a high. Ob p American league in walks with seventy two so that school But i think Very weird to say the problem with the yankees as they take too many walks. They don't capitalize on the opportunity to put the ball in play tested defense. Move the runners over a surprise guys. If you get a leadoff runner on second the next batter walks all you do. There is at another based on the double play The double play ball in play for the defense so More times than not. We'd like to see the put bat on ball They love taking pictures right outside the zone. They don't entirely to attack at least this version of the twenty twenty one yankees that we've seen but i will take gallo if that is something that the yankees peel. That is affordable for them in kind of fits their plans Hey the will l. lefty slugger of that caliber. In yankee stadium can really change the game. I know we sound like a broken record saying that. What they haven't gotten any lefty sluggers. That could change the game in yankee stadium. Why not do it now for the final two months you how it works out and maybe he changes the fortunes for this team but guess what they also need a starter they probably need another reliever I'd like to see chapman or britain. Go at this deadline. to Relief some salary and any other any other moves that make them. Marginally flexible would be great. I think timokau stras worked out pretty well so far. The timber cash also can't be starting for your team in the postseason so there's gonna be a couple of moves they have to make your i think gal gals and i start in my opinion. Yeah i would sacrifice a pinkie finger to seaworld cabin on another team in the next couple of weeks Yeah gallo's not a contract. That's gonna kill the yankees. They're not absorbing big money. You're never going to look back at a gallo train. Be like this is the moment the yankees died so like am. I gonna lose my mind if it doesn't happen. No but yeah. It's exciting school if you can do for cheap cheap ish cheap desk. That is it for this edition of the school yard..

"Was lying about the tattoo. Clearly, how was just not a front top story? It's a topic. It absolutely is a topic because Look The Astros can say Everybody was signed stealing, and we just were more this or that. Or what have you heard? We needed other things to win. That was the only thing that helped us win fine. But if you're hiding buzzers on your body that's a new level of cheating. It fell to me was hiding a buzzer on his body to hit the game winning home run to go to the World Series. That's a different can of worms, and he said, No, it was because of a tattoo. He was shy. His wife didn't want the tattoo out there, and there's no tattoo so unless he this tattoo removed over the last 2.5 years He is flat out lying about it, and he was hiding something else. And that's gonna be his. Excuse me, but the weight shot he had it removed that you know that if he gets pressed on it all I ended up getting removed. My wife really like it. He acted as if he had Will Ferrell plane Ricky, Bobby and Angel Wings all across his chest. And that was what was hiding. AJ McCarron's text there Nothing. And you killed her any website today and nobody is writing about it. Can't believe nobody's writing about this. I mean, certainly there's a reddit. Thread Right now, that's probably all over and Twitter lit up within a bunch of people screenshot ng it, but you can't find it anywhere anywhere. Need Jeff passing on this? I mean, do we need the penalty kicks in the euro's yesterday? Can I get an Al two right up here? I I need a real baseball writers to be digging into this. Get some sources on this. Because it does take the Astros cheating scandal to a different level if he was hiding a buzzer on him, And I know that like this whole story's a little old now and tired of people don't really care as much. Because we're A year and a half removed from the scandal. The year we're a year and a half removed from the punishment, let alone the scandal. But I mean, if he's hiding buzzers, that's a big freaking deal. We're in a mid season crackdown of Spider tech and sticky stuff. Baseball's acting like they care about cheating, then care about the biggest cheating scandal of them all, and I want investigations on this buzzer. I should have been at a parade. I've been screwed personally, and this is wrong. You know what? I have an idea. Your detective milkshake. You have a a sixth sense about certain things. Okay, You've got a good smeller. Get a good smeller Feller. I think you should do an investigation. You've got credentials in the media. I worked for CBS Sports radio. Okay. I work at a nationally syndicated radio show. Here we go. Why not? No, Seriously. Why don't why don't you email a Joel Sherman? Hey, Joel. What are you hearing about? This? Is this a thing? Why don't you email it, Jeff? Passing? Hey, Are you hearing anything? Why don't you text message, Robert for the voice, the Astros. Hey, would you think about this? Collect some data, put together a report and then deliver it here on the show this week. I think it's worth it. And then you know what we'll put this report together will put the video out on Twitter Be like the only place in America that's doing a deep dive on what happened about two. They You know what? I'm wearing jeans today? I like it. I will. Got a little post show project. I like it. Take a couple of days gathered from data boom, boom, boom, boom mint, put it out on social media. You'll get some bump from it. And then we'll see what if scares anybody else out of the bushes. Hey, why aren't you doing your homework here? Let's go. Well, this is the problem. I'm going to email and text a bunch of people. I've watched this. I won't get one response. You'll see six articles posted by the end of the All Star break about it. Okay, So this is interesting. Make sure you keep a record of who you email about this idea, and then we'll see if they take the idea and run with.

"See in colorado. I can't wait buster. It's like a state occasion. The all star break. It's a wonderful thing. I can't wait and it's going to be great. We hit the point of the season intact a whole season. So it's gonna be fun we're gonna go to. We live about ten miles apart. And we gotta go two thousand miles so we can see each other and that'll be a lot of fun so before we get to this week squares. Let's talk about this week's forgotten franchise. So buster today. We're going to talk about one of baseball's earliest two teams a club that was renowned for the depths of their corruption and rough play a club that was actually expelled from the national league. After its inaugural season the new york mutuals the mutuals formerly mutual of new york aka. The green stockings were formed in eighteen. Fifty seven by volunteer firemen who were members of new york's mutual hook and ladder company number one. The city is i volunteer fire department. The mutuals were the defacto team of tammany hall. New york's notorious and powerful political organization. And its leader. William m boss. Tweed was a member of the mutual's board of trustees. This club has the notorious distinction buster of being responsible for the first fix game in baseball history on september. Twenty eighth eighteen sixty five. Three members of the mutuals accepted bribes to throw a game against brooklyn's eckford club. They were all barred by the national association of baseball players but later reinstated tammany hall secure jobs for the all amateur mutuals on the city payroll and in eighteen sixty nine. The new york city council appropriated fifteen hundred dollars to fund a road trip to new orleans. The club originally played its home. Games at hoboken's elision fields which played host to what is generally considered the site of the first organized baseball game in eighteen forty six. The mutual shifted their home games to the union grounds formerly known as the union baseball and cricket grounds in south williamsburg brooklyn in eighteen. Sixty eight originally part of the national association of baseball players baseball i organization the mutual joined the national association. The first professional league in eighteen seventy and became charter members of the national league. Five years later the mutuals loan and l. campaign was as i like to say less than stellar. The club finished up with a twenty one and thirty five record and failed to make its final road trip of the season which led to their expulsion from the league but their notoriety buster and their status is one of baseball's top early clubs makes them. This week's forgotten branch is and you. And i have talked about the worst in best team names. Okay through the years. I've never brought up this category. And i think this team would qualify the most immediately a likeable team name when you like. You're a fan okay. And the team calls itself the mutual aka the green stockings. I hate them right away. What about you. I would say that a couple of weeks ago. We discussed the worcester. Worcester's which i think is really hard to top in that category. But you know mutuals approaches there. And now all of a sudden i'm thinking of the us l. and the washington federals and thinking you know all those years ago who wants be a federal. It's not exactly an aspirational thing. And the same. Probably hold true for mutual. So there you go right. From the get go. What are we shortened it to the mutes the mutes. Tough really new jewel. Well there are probably people who the equivalent of you and i in nineteen sixty one slash sixty two. Who said the same thing about the mets when they came into existence. So who knows. You're right you agree with me. Mutual being like. Oh my god. I would hate that team right away. Oh yeah that's awful it it just. It smells greed and corruption. So they really think about think about the marketing possibilities sponsored by mutual funds perhaps or mutual mutual of new york presents. The new york mutuals it would go. Great jersey would go great on the the bowl outside the stock market in new york. I think that'd be good marking spot for it. I can photoshop that. I'm all in all right. Let's get to this week's quiz all right boys week. Seventeen of our quiz earlier. This season joe. Moss grove finally finally pitched the first no hitter in the history of the san diego. Padres the dodgers by contrast have pitched twenty six no hitters. So here's this week's question. This franchise leads the american league. All time knows is it. A the white socks be the athletics. see the yankees or d. The red sox all time most no hitters in the history of the american league for a franchise. White sox as yankees or red sox. That's a great question. That question What you got. I'm gonna go red sox. I'm gonna go athletics. Oath of you are incorrect because the answer is the chicago. White sox have twenty including one this year. The red sox taylor have eighteen the last by john. Lester in two thousand eight athletics with aamir thirteen the last by my fires. Twenty nineteen buster. So we hold serve. And we enter the second half of the season with taylor making trades firing managers etcetera etcetera. I'd gone like six seven straight weeks now without actually being successful in one of these i gotta have so my logic on that was i knew the yankees. They despite their history as you know it's been built on offensive players supposed to pitcher with all due respect. Whitey ford mariano rivera. Yet i might. I focused on the athletics. Because through the history. They've had the likes of lefty grove and tafesh honor vita blue pitchers like that. They've been into pitchers park in. I can remember specific examples of oakland. Pitcher's throwing no hitters. So that's why would that gas and it was a terrible guests. Well you know and you you witnessed a perfect game if not more than one. If i'm not mistaken buster. Right to in yankee stadium. David cone and david wells. But i should've remembered the mark early. No hitter yeah. I mean that's well maybe by the end of the season the as might throw eight more no hitters the way things are going and in the second half and you know your answer might be right. Come october who knows that. That's sort of back at this point. That taylor needs to win this year's quiz. Thank you all right guys. Good senior bleacher tweets already buster bleacher tweets for friday. I will be of dave crop at crops corner. Dave rates in the phillies had multiple second half collapses under gabe kappler's management. Do you think the same will happen to the giants as the second half approaches. I don't think so considering. San francisco's pitching yet. Taylor and i appreciate your come reading that question because as we're doing the podcast you're power been flickering where you are in long island. Yeah you know. I figured it's probably better. That i normally stumble over these tweets so trying to slow down a little bit. And if the power goes it goes buster. It's outta my hands. God's work so all quickly here. Dave i agree with you. I don't think the collapse in second half all right christian zil rates in at museums z. There have already been nine. Instances of a team losing nine straight games this season. There haven't been nine game losing streaks in a single season since two thousand eleven and we hit that before the all star break. Why how. Bad of a is that. For august and september version. I think it's an outlier. I think it's just a wacky situation. I will say this we've talked about polarize The standings are i think. That's the only gonna get worse as we go through the trade deadline and the contenders the handful of contenders at the best players. Last one for the week. This one is from mr malibu himself. Who is toiling in the coal mines right now. Because that's what i don't want to be doing. Nathan garcia at eighty garcia. He writes. Will we see a foreign substance. Check in the all star game. Good question nate. No we will not. I can't remember the reporter. Who had that information. I may have been joel. Sherman of the new york post. But i believe that's the case no sub subject at the all star game already. That's it for the week cash. I bleacher tweets on twitter as you're watching games and please follow rate and review this podcast..

We will be joined by the president of the Milwaukee Bucks, The Eastern Conference champion Milwaukee Bucks and Peter Fagan. Alright, McKey, and you teased us right before the break. Brian Jack McKeon here with us, buddy and all every day this week, but Wednesday, Yeah, I didn't want to work Wednesday. So why do you want to work once that I'm a big sleep in on Wednesday kind of guy, So I'm going to stay in on Wednesday. Get drunk. Watch the hockey game if there's a game five All right. So that's what you're gonna do. At least you're honest about it. I'm going to think that there's something more to that. But I don't even want to investigate. Because then that's just me, giving you more airtime variety, giving you more air time than we probably should. You have three things to improve Major League baseball because before the break Was complaining how this All Star game really has zero juice for next week other than Otani, and I know that it's act in Colorado Ball is going to be flying out of the building the ballpark. You want to see Otani when the Derby then you want to see Otani Give you about an ending on the mound and also hit a home run in a in an All Star game at bad other than Otani, maybe tatty Junior, so many does play. That's a name that could resident nationally. But no name at the All Star game this year is going to resonate more than showy. Otani, who right now has been the most talked about player. In the sport out of an everyday player because of the fact that not only can he dominant on the mound, but then more so at what he's been able to do at the plate with the 31 home runs, and it's good to see him healthy and it's good to see him. Going to the All Star game is not only a hitter, but then also a picture as well. All right, What do you have for me? Three things that can improve Rob Man Fred's terrible state of Major League baseball where it's really wild. You see the pandemic and we know that man. Fred did a terrible job in getting the sport back. Hockey has done a good job. Remember when Bettman back in in 2020 came out. He was the first commissioner Really? With the plan vocally out of the four major sports with that press conference, he gave Goodell really has done a nice job navigating this pandemic. Adam Silver always gets praise, sometimes too much praise. But Adam Silver has respect from his players in his sport, and it's easier to navigate maybe some more difficult waters. The players can't stand Rob Manfred's guts and I'll tell you what should be number one on your list. Avoid a labor dispute, but we all know that's going to be unavoidable because this is going to be really nasty at the end of the season. It wouldn't surprise me if it does go into us missing some games, which would just be an ultimate disaster for Major league baseball because I went to and the stadium. I think it was like 40,000 people over the weekend Saturday. That's what they was announced. It was pretty pacto. But really, you're at the ballpark. A big problem for Major league baseball is even when you're there. Your attention Is not always on the game. It's all there's a beer stand in the outfield. All there's an ice cream cone over there all. There's food over there. They got to do a better job where you have to sit in your seat. And it's not just strike out or home run. And there's a lot of live action like I'll never forget. Hell. When you were growing up as a kid, you could see a ahead and Ryan. You can see a guy going from first to third. You can put the ball in play. Now We're just kind of accustomed to It's either a big home run. Or it's going to be a strikeout, and there's not a lot going on during the game other than those two things, so let's go. Let's go from 3 to 1, least important to most important three things that could fix Major league baseball. In your opinion, I have no clue what you're going to say. So this is a total flop in a total failure. Remember, that's Brian Jack McKeon hijacking our show and just ruining the show. So I'll tell you if you're right or wrong here, Number one, uh, we wait. Hold on. Hold on. Is this least important or most important on the least here, Okay? Well, I just told you what to do the least important to most important three. So number three. I'm going. We touched on this last segment, but I think it needs to be reiterated. I'm doing home jerseys and or home and road for Ana and L A. Oh, that's more exciting. People enjoy that. It's more nostalgia. And if you want to go with the a little uniforms, this is a fixed the All Star game, right? So it's not to fix all major league base. No, no, that's a much broader topic. We could do that tomorrow if you want. Well, no, no, no. Too much baseball. This is a fixed the All Star game. Yes, either either Homer road jerseys or if you want some special baseball thing, designed the hatch and all start think I'm cool with that, or go back to the the late nineties early two thousands and do the cut off sleeves one because the Rockies were cut off sleeves, home jerseys. So if you want to give an ode to Colorado give a cut off sleeve l N l Home and away All Star jerseys because those were awesome back when Griffey played in stuff time out. I am not usually a big person in terms of the jerseys. Now you have people. They change the jerseys on nothing going to watch ever again. It's a bunch of bull crap. Stop! In this case, I don't like what they're doing with the jerseys this year. Such an atrocity, even though even if they do change the jerseys is that going to make me and they go back to the way that we want. It is not going to make me so. Yeah, I got to really tune into this All Star game. You know what it gives me one lesson to complain about. Okay, so that's one last thing. Okay, now the neck that does not really move the needle next to move the needle because they're more exciting and your old for one right now. Okay, well, we're going to go to for three, so it doesn't really matter. That's a winning average in baseball. The next one. I'm letting all pictures in this game uses much sticky stuff as they want. Let's see that WBAL whipping around like a Frisbee. I think you're on to something because I did read I think it was a Joel Sherman report a week ago that they are not going to check for Spider attack or any Veysel lean. They will not be doing those checks at the All Star game. I am with you also. I have been so annoyed here with these stupid checks that do go on. I forget who the picture was for the Yankees. But I was at this met Yankee game over the weekend, and the guy got lit up and it was the most comical thing. This guy I forget it was he loved like six runs or whatever it was on on Saturday afternoon, and they go check him after the performance, and I'm sitting there saying I can tell you he's not using because if he's using something, and he's still getting lit up and hammered like this, and the Mets want them to keep using it. Yeah, whatever he's using clearly is not working. I also don't like it was McGill, who made his debut. He was walking off the mound gets a standing ovation. They check him. The guy that just recently got suspended Hector Santiago because he put right and you're allowed to use rising. But you're not allowed to put it on your glove and the mixture of the sweat and the rosin. They thought it was something that was illegal. It's really obnoxious with all this stuff that's going on. And it's once again, Rob Man, Fred making what should have been a little issue. Into a big issue, and it's not really going to fix much for your sport. It will get people to talk about it. It will get people to freak out about it will elicit a response. But it's not something that's in a positive light. And this has really been a farce. It's been a mockery, but I am with you for the All Star game. Yeah, Use your spider attack. Use your Vaseline use everything. And I think Major League Baseball is gonna allow them to do that. The players because No one is going to be checking it and just wait..

"I do. Look at the Yankees right now, and I see a team that tends to trip over itself. In a lot of trouble. They have the ninth best record in the American League. Right now. They have been the single greatest disappointment in professional sports. There. Mhm. Hard to argue when you watch a complete match over the weekend that was actually salvaged, but difficult to be fooled by what happened with just one win. It is Chris Carlin in for Greeny today on ESPN Radio and ESPN plus presented by Progressive insurance and all guests appear via the Goodyear hotline. That is where we are headed right now, For some straight talk brought to you by straight talk Wireless We welcome in MLB insider Buster only who joins us. He, of course, had the Yankees and Mets last night on the Sunday night broadcast and Buster. It's amazing when you watch what has transpired with the Yankees this season and how quickly it has gotten away from them. But if you really look at the last couple of years It shouldn't be all that surprising because they've been as inconsistent as they have so Is the next 10 to 12 days. Pretty much the Yankees season in your estimation. There's no question about it. I mean, when you look at the schedule ahead of them, you know they play Seattle for three games, and the Mariners have been playing well lately actually passed the Yankees in the American League standings. Then they play the Astros and then 80. Their 1st 10 games out of the All Star break are against the Boston Red Sox, a team they haven't beaten yet this year. And so while you know how, Steinbrenner said last week in speaking with reporters. That he's had no thought at all about being sellers. We might get to the morning of July 26 that Monday after the the second Red Sox series, and there'll be no question that they would be sellers when you look at their deficit of 10 games right now. There's only been one time in their entire history when they've overcome that to win a division or league and that was the 1978. So they've run out of. You know, As I said on the broadcast last night, they've run out of lifeline. Buster went being around him this weekend. What's your biggest takeaway? As their biggest problem what has been the biggest hindrance to their success? Well, I think Hit so multifaceted. It's remarkable and actually, you know, since the sticky stuff began to go away, and that crackdown happened, they've been better offensively, and it's interesting. But in talking with executives around baseball, they do feel like there's some hitters who fit the profile. Guys who would get better after that happened. Gary Sanchez, being one of those The offense has gotten better. But here's the problem. Since the sticky stuff crackdown, their bullpen has gotten worse and in particular to roll this happened. I mean, I have no idea the next time the Yankees have a safe situation. What they're going to do with Chapman in his 1st 23 innings this year, he allowed one run in his last five and two thirds innings. He's allowed 14 runs and as Aaron Boone took him out of the game yesterday, very interesting that Chapman after three guys get on base against him after a lot, So hit the home run. Uh, you know, he kind of was going to walk off the mound, head down, but Boone stopped them and said something to him and I presume, Look, you're a guy we need you. But given the struggles he's had with his fastball command. I think that's going to be a you know that that's going to be a work in progress. We do wonder Chapman, one of those guys who maybe he didn't weaponize the sticky stuff, but maybe he needed it to help control his fastball. ESPN. MLB Insider Buster only joining us on the Goodyear Hotline. Chris Carlin in for Greeny. So when you Look forward, and we get past that Red Sox series. Are the Yankees going to be sellers, and if so, To what level will they be selling? Yes, And that's a great question, because it's easy for you know, knuckleheads like me to sit here and say, Well, they don't have a chance. According to Fangraphs, they have a 6% chance of making the postseason. And it makes sense that they would be sellers. Here's the thing when you look at their roster and what would potentially be available. There's not a lot there to market in season, right? The Chicago Cubs as they turn out to be sellers, they're going to be like a one stop shop. We're all contenders. They're going have tons of people on Craig Kimbrel. They'll have people on Kris Bryant, like the Mets. You know, they'll have people on Javier Baez and on Anthony Rizzo with the Yankees. There's not necessarily a lot of stuff that they can be out there. Marketing Yeah, you know, Joel Sherman wrote a really interesting column. I think it was about 10 days ago about the idea of the Yankees marketing Aaron Judge. General managers say all the time that if you're going to market a premium position player before, you know, more than a year before free agency the best time to trade that players in the wintertime And that probably it would be the best time for the Yankees, too. Seriously explore that if they wind up, you know being sellers. I'm sure Brian Cashman will indicate to other teams. Look, we're open to offers. And maybe he would say we're open to offers, even on Aaron judge, But it's hard to imagine some teams stepping up in a big way in the middle of a regular season and giving them what they want when they would have the opportunity to talk to more teams in wintertime. "Part of it can be because of the injuries and I don't think injuries are fun to deal with. No one likes the injuries. But when Carson Wentz was on the field last year when he was healthy last year Was the turnover machine, and I just still haven't heard and take any accountability in Carson. Once somebody used to be a big fan of he just annoys me. Oh, yeah. Now I have more passion for the game. I get it when things are taken away from you. You get embarrassed, even though you don't want to admit it, it does create a new passion. Or it creates maybe an excitement to prove people wrong. But I think you had the passion in Philadelphia. You just had a tough time in delegating. I'm giving a stock down. The constant. I just don't love the way that he started off that quote. Did you see Joel Sherman today? I did MLB All Star game. They're not checking for the sticky stuff in the MLB All Star game, so cheat away in the All Star game. Who cares about the MLB All Star game stocked automobile started Hector Santiago. So he's getting unless if he wins his appeal, which he's not going to win, I'm assuming he's gonna get suspended 10 games. Now he wasn't using Spider attack. He was using Vaseline. He was using what was legal and and the rosin bag. But He wasn't allowed to put on his glove. He did. So what you're allowed to use a rosin bag, and obviously you're naturally going to sweat. That was the sticky stuff on his glove. And that's why he's getting to spend it for 10 games. This is where we're at right now, with Major League Baseball. Just the fact a big fat joke, and I'm sick and tired of all this stuff, the glove checks. It's ridiculous. What would be the postseason game? Guys gonna come off amount all fired up up. Stop the crowd. Stop! The noise stopped the excitement. We got to check his glove. Ridiculous. Stock down Major League Baseball, All right. I am not in this time slot for the rest of the week. That is that accurate. He still owed twenty seven million dollars and the the rangers are paying all of it because they they waived him so they basically were like. Where are you going to wave them in. Knock it anything or we could take these couple of flyer prospects from the inks. Yeah and he strikes out a lot the all or nothing. Two thousand nineteen thirty home runs batting average. Two hundred and seventy eight strikeouts. Oh yeah it's it's lot. The prospects they gave up are actually. I thought were interesting. Because i i know both of them. Kobe was a guy that that was. Actually ben badly was talking about him a lot when i had him on the show about a guy who look out for that he's been in the yankees organization. I think since he was like you know gary sanchez style like sixteen very early. He's been in for a while and had some had a good Initial year. I think in pulaski or low a. Somewhere and and then got injured And then had i think a a a tough year back. But he's a guy that they were high on a corner outfielder and still is nineteen years old so i was surprised that they gave up someone for in the rangers press release they. They said that they acquired outfielder just hours and outfielder slash catcher in tonio cabello. I've been seeing him. Come up as a catcher. After looked at this morning and i had to go back and remember Make sure i was. My memory was good. Because i he i know he was with the yankees as a corner. Outfielder right the yankees never listed him as a catcher. So i mean who who who does or cares about that but yeah i mean trey definitely surprised it was funny. The trade was announced. During when i was recording with andy martino so we pause for a couple of minutes so he could check his phone because his phone was blowing up because the yankees made a trade not that it's like a groundbreaking trade or anything but it was more. It was more opportunistic than anything with a the the the type of guy that they that they had. And you know how that goes right so some nerd number seven in cashman's department says harmful ma'am brain. I found some underlying metrics. That say roof. Netter is gonna hit thirty. Three home runs this year. You better pick them up in the regular season. Oh and then he's gonna strike out in the postseason when he's going up against a tough left e. Yeah you don't say but i thought this lineup. Construction was timely and interesting to actually find out that the analytic say the number. Three spot is less important than the four or five spot. I played the nerd angle from it. I don't agree with it. okay. I'm with you and just and also to be to be very clear like when we're discussing this and looking at this in a vacuum this is based on regular season numbers when you get to the playoffs and you're talking about i keep talking about this. The tough righties that are going to be opposing the yankees and the playoffs. Because that's who we face. Those are the guys that we faced a shutdown team. All of this lineup construction. And the fact that you're you're putting you're putting these these these high production guys home run or bust or you know high production guys in the four five spot. You need the table to be set. You need it to be set for the yankees. We've we've proven that them waiting for the homerun doesn't play it just doesn't it's not. It's not a way to win a championship. Not a way that they've they've they've gotten to this point. I think when you look back in two thousand seventeen you know. It wasn't all home runner bus. Like that team was rolling offensively. They had some opportunities where they were they. Were you know creating hits. They were they were moving the the baserunners like they were doing things that felt fun. And like real baseball it wasn't just homerun or bust which has been the makeup and you can get away with that in the regular season all of these regular numbers. It's a different animal when you are putting yourself in a position to win a championship and going into short series against the best pitchers in baseball. It's just different. Yeah absolutely and we'll see how it goes. Boone was already asked the question by joel sherman. When you're going to move in and out of the three spot that was after the weekend series which has had a rough series so he got the day off on tuesday. And that's why gardy was in but we'll see how it goes. I expect him to stick with the number three spot. And then maybe he'll he'll bounce down to the number five spot. He's not going to be moved tonight. I don't see that happening no again. That goes back to more of the traditional type. When you're turning her lineup over and getting your guys Potentially on base. That would really what it's doing is it gives me lemay. He'll at the to spot in back in a way. That'll do it for for this episode. Scott and i will be back at you definitely on friday morning. Maybe maybe tomorrow with something. If if something happens we'll find out it'll be a mystery..

"Rick tittle always goes commando. Thank you for that and welcome back to the show. Sometimes i wonder how ebay stays in business and the reason is is because they offer everything literally if you wanna get an underground or underwater typewriter. They probably have but like everybody says amazon is the root of all evil and jeff as us makes two million dollars every time he blinks probably more i think about it. What does amazon you get an a day or two and if you don't like to take it back to one of these hubs which are everywhere and you'll get an instant refund two things. I've ordered from ebay. If you want to send them back you gotta pay fifteen dollars for the for the label. Ano- by the way it takes a month to get to both both come on How fun all right major league baseball has issued a memo to all thirty teams regarding the use of foreign substances on. Baseball's this comes from the new york. Post joel sherman. Saw this first rule. Six six dot o. To see reads that a pitcher shall not expect rate on the ball either hand or his glove. That would be what we call spitting. Don't spit in the ball. Rub the ball on his glove person or clothing a ply. A foreign substance of any kind threw the ball. Deface the ball in any manner or deliver. A ball altered in a manner prescribed by rule. Six point zero two paragraph see article two through five. What is called shine ball. Spitball mud ball emory ball. The pitcher is allowed to rub the ball between his bare hands and finally have on his person. Pitcher is not allowed to have on his person or in his position. Any foreign substance rule six pepsi article seven comment. The pitcher may not attach anything to either hand any finger or either risk for example band aid tape superglue bracelet etc. The umpire shall determine if such attachment is indeed a foreign substance for the purpose of rule. Six point zero two c seven but not as may the pitcher be allowed to pitch let such attachment to his hand. Finger or a wrist dow. Why is this news. Isn't this the same thing that has been in the rules forever. Now if you used to be that if you went to your mouth with your hand on the mound. It was an automatic Bach or if there was no one on base it was automatic ball. I see pitchers lick their fingers. All the time on the mountain they used to say you could blow into your hand so like on a hot day or a cold day. You'd see the pitcher make a fist. Put it up to his lips. Go f- what's that for. Well it's not really blowing. He's going by getting a little spin in there. But why is this new like if there are obvious violations. The pitchers generally get caught. And probably the most recent member michael pineda on the yankees mariner. He had a big patch of pine tar on his neck. At least some people throw away amri boards and things but there's been a lot of less obvious examples to and like i said. We know the nudge nudge wink. Wink not notably photograph photograph. We know what it is. But judging from this memo. Mlb sick of it. why now. Why are they sick of it now. Sounds like when the lake great joe. Morgan sent a letter all hall of fame voters. Please do not vote for cheaters. Please like okay but this. I don't know this seems like it's kind of out of a blue now. Also laid out in the league's memo. Is that there will be compliance officers in the clubhouse clubhouses dugouts tunnels and pretty much everywhere. A pitcher could go to try and apply like pine tar to the inside of his illegal. Also take balls out of play and conduct inspections of the baseball via a third party lab..

"I'm expecting it to be an utter disaster. And then when. If he's good then i can be pleasantly surprised. And if he's bad. I can say see told you so. We've we've made lewinsky type. Comparisons which is possible. Joel sherman said that too. And i feel like he stole my my thing because i definitely set up joel sherman. That would be the first thing he's stolen from us. That is not the first i saw. Joel sherman right it Like a we right. After the signing. And i said that at least a month ago right yeah. I'm not saying he actually stole it from us. Because this is no way that joel sherman actually with no i guess i firmly believe that he does and firmly believe that he's stolen things from us in the past and i have. He has stolen in the past. I have. I have pretty pretty good proof of it either way. The thing is that we don't know what to expect and troy to lewinsky was another name coming in very similar to corey kluber and when we look at what the players were toilet to ski has huge ceiling right when when he was at his speech. But that's what everybody goes through their like lewinsky. We know what he was when his peak he can be that again. Well no no no. That was a guy that was six years younger bad ankles and was able to stay on the field. This guy doesn't have attics is older and hasn't played baseball in forever. So the the the ceiling is no longer the same just because the person is the same there as you get older your ceiling gets lower. And that's where i'm afraid. We are with corey kluber. Just i don't think that he has even even at his his absolute best this year. He's going to be the cy young corey kluber. I don't think that's even there anymore. No there's no chance of that ben. Eleven million bucks was just what they needed to pay in order to have him entertained signing so i don't think it was an overpayment either because the market dictates what you're what you make yet not to say again. Like to say that he can be a very good pitcher. I just don't think cy young corey kluber. that guy. that guy does not exist anymore. I don't think it will be fair to say if corey kluber doesn't work out to criticize the yankees for wasting eleven million bucks in not using that eleven million bucks. That's an easy criticism. We have to do that. We've already done that right. We've we've already built that in right now. We're criticizing them now if it doesn't work because there's a risk factor but they're going into that understanding that risk factor and that's why they have the depth that they did they've they've. They've tried to mediate that that risk as much as humanly possible. Next up is justin. He says any chance the yankees would be interested in making a trade with the marlins for jordan yamamoto. Seems like he's on the outs of the rotation. With all the young talent on the marlins. Maybe mike talk men and some low prospects. So yamamoto was part of the yellows. Trade with milwaukee and he looked to be back in two thousand nineteen like projecting as a decent pitcher he made he made. Fifteen starts seventy eight innings. He had a four point. Four sixty are a four point five one fifth and then he just got. He didn't pitch well in limited appearances last year. I i don't know. I'm no i to be honest with you. I have no. I had no. No this is so this is a guy that doesn't move a needle. Mytalk man has value on this team because he's flexible in the outfield. He's been here. He knows he's got pop the bat potentially you know we saw a month and a half where he was. Trout com. the cops they throw. Mike trout comes out their way to easily for guys that have flashed trying to market him. I guess there's no one knows who might. Trout is to market my cockman. They're a market. Mike trout through mike tuchman. Who's the most famous Who who's more famous. Who's a more famous mike. Talk mentor trout. I i live in a bubble a yankees bubble so that answer might not be as far off as for us than it is for other talk played like trout for like two and a half weeks back through those cops were to close. They're throwing him out there too fast. A kid who has never played a guy who has shown it for three weeks the thing with trading for someone like yellow motto is that i don't know that's any different than saying we're going to have. Yeah we're going to give twenty. Starts to michael king or twenty starts to nick nelson. It's like just okay. It's another guy said it's another name that have the yankees have the potential already in their in their system right now they don't need to go out and look for a guy that's a fringe guy. They have that it's it's in place. There's no reason for that and you don't a couple of weeks ago a few weeks ago. Maybe we're we have a different conversation but as we stand today not not a not a need not a. I don't even think it's possibility next up is johnny says. Hey guys big fan of the podcast especially having moved to la. You're my yankees lifeline. As the offseason includes. I feel like i'm the only one still yelling for a left handed bat. The lack of diversity in the yankees lineup feels like a real problem. Can you imagine the red sox with all left-handed lineup ignoring the advantage of the green monster..

"Make 11 Who would you rather have starting? I won't say for which team but Matthew Stuffer. Why are you doing this week's? It's not a real story. What are you talking about? Matthew Stafford or Jared Goff? I thought you said Jared Goff was real air. Rodgers wasn't real. I'm confused about your golf is real. But that doesn't mean nobody said with the Rams are thinking about bringing Matthew Stafford in. Well, I mean, That sounds like a possible so Aaron Rodgers was wishful reporting. All right. It was it didn't already do this story. Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff know Aaron Rodgers in here. I know, but I'm saying Aaron Rodgers wasn't real story. We know that Matthew Stafford is going to play on another team, but there's no word that the Rams are gonna be able to get rid of Jared Goff. Okay? Yeah. Yeah, I have to put certain quarterbacks in that wishful reported, Captain, But I think I'm gonna take the blame for this one. Because I think last hour I said hypothetically, Who would you rather have is your quarterback Stafford ago. It's a tradition unlike any other. It feels like every year at this time after the voting for the baseball of Fame, we have Bob Costas on to somehow come up with answers for Major League Baseball and the baseball writers of America, Bob. Good morning. How are you? Hello, Dan. How you doing? It feels like this is a tradition where I go, Let's get Bob on and he could explain what happened. What didn't happen. You're a voice of reason here. What happened yesterday. Well, what happened is that Curt Schilling appears to have talked and tweeted his way out of the Hall of Fame. No matter how Out of bounds. Ah, lot of his proclamations have been and understand. Joel Sherman of The New York Post, one of the best baseball reporters said this yesterday on the MLB and network. Remember, he got more than 70%. Of the vote, and I will very, very large percentage of the players past and present in the baseball Hall of Fame are relatively conservative. Politically, This isn't a matter of Republican Democrat conservative liberal. And I say this is somebody who through the years has had a good relationship with Curt Schilling going all the way back to when he was with the Phillies, but a lot of what he has said And tweeted over the last few years is just completely out of bounds, including supporting the insurrection of the capital and things he has said about writers as a group, not specific individuals. So without that. He'd be over the line now. We might have expected Clemens and Bonds who made a bit of a move up to 60%, or so, ah, year ago to introduce Lisa Little bit closer, and they barely moved. At all. Part of the reason could be and I'm just guessing here, Then it's this, assuming they're able to have a ceremony. Fingers crossed this July and Cooper's down. Some voters may have said Look, these three these specific three call them the Rogue's Gallery of the Hall of Fame. Killing Clemens bonds, They could be a class of their own next year. But why should there be any discordant notes surrounding Derek Jeter especially universally popular plus Ted Simmons and Larry Walker and whoever represents Marvin Miller? Next year. The two by statistics. Certain Hall of Famers who come on the ballot for the first time are a rod and big poppy. Now I think David Ortiz will get a higher percentage of the vote. But whatever with of steroids is attached to big Poppy, who's very popular was a great great hitter. That may keep him out as a first ballot guy, and it's gonna take a rod A while, if ever And the Scott Rolen's of the world who are up around 50%. Todd Helton's who made a move. Sheffield moved up. None of those people loom for next year, Omar Vizquel was on his way up until the allegations of domestic abuse halted him. But he was only in his third or fourth year, so this time for him to be rehabilitated, so to speak. So as you look at it, it's possible that if someone's gonna vote for showing Bonds or Clements, someone has been a holdout. Perhaps their initial reasons were just let him twist in the wind. My semi protest will be says this voter, this imaginary voter. My semi protests will be that I make them wait until the last minute. All vote for them in your tent. Well, it turns out that year, 10 sets up That it could very well be those three people on the stage. Clemens BONDS shilling. If enough voters come around to say OK, the coast is clear In this situation. I can see it. It doesn't rain on anybody else's parade. I can see it next year. I'm not saying that will happen. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if the three of them move up closer to 75% of not over it in there. How do you think the baseball writers would have reacted or would react if Schilling was already in the Hall of Fame? And he had these tweets. He had these comments. He had this stance. Well, there'll be all kinds of articles written about it condemning it, But I doubt that he'd be removed. The baseball writers might be able to make a statement, but it would be up to the board of directors of the Hall of Fame to remove him or anybody else. On Then you have to begin thinking about boy. If we pull on that thread does the entire garment unwind. Um these are the only sorts of offenses that people might find objectionable or we're going to go back over the personal history, to the extent that we know it of everybody who was in the Hall of Fame. And by the way, although it's apples and oranges, little bit O. J. Simpson's bust is still in Canton. Yeah, I just wondered, like Schilling has no crimes against baseball. And that's right. That's true..

"Actually you do. I feel bad that someone saw a twitter account that said to. What did it say at to something that you're right. Here's a here's why i don't feel bad. I don't feel it happens to everyone. It's not that big of a deal. The person shouldn't be in trouble. The person should be fired. This is part of trouble. They shouldn't be in trouble. I said they shouldn't be back. They've most likely are because then. His persons bosses are jerks. Because it's it's not the listen. They might be so. I don't know exactly what the person's or what happened to him. However i do feel bad for them because it's just the sinking feeling right so the question is the question. Yeah you're careful island anytime. Any reporter gets duped by a fake story. I love it love. It won't hey but that's different though is here's like it. I don't think schefter did it. Focusing i like when the reporter the actual reporter gets outraged like there was a famous laura ingraham. I agree it was. He was like john. Heyman was like some lowlife scumbag. Okay it's a fake twitter. We relax like nobody gets sports. It's not important as well to date one. If it's your name that you're built on credibility it. It's harmful number one which i can understand. That said i agree with you at the end of the day. I think their proper reaction would be like. It's an honor to have someone doing a fake twitter. It's happening so many times. It's you know it's part of the gig this. Here's here's the thing but there's a difference though between one of us in the media on twitter retweeting a fake twitter account. Espn reporting their own. Guys shake report. I mean. I agree although i feel bad for the person because unlike you. I have a beating heart be nag number. What but is that funny at. You know to put my feet in your shoes. I mean the fact. Espn badger duped by a fake account. For when i say this. I'll say this. Don't come off as just a complete dick. This may be not as funny. Because have like chan gailey and his family like thinks he's been fired or something like that and that's but like if it's a trade. The fake trades are the best ones. Life is no one's life is affected by that. At least you know it is. I mean look. I look like so and so hired this team as their manager like those at the good ones. And and here's the thing. I don't expect the funny thing about the media in sports me like we're no different than anybody else like. We're kinda like But now we're just knew it'd happened living the one thing. I will say though from a media person ken rosenthal or john hayman or joel sherman or whoever union cider in whoever you know that's your credibility and so I try to break stories. You know. I i'm like neurotic about trying to be right so You know you don't want someone putting out something that's not So i guess. I agree you you need to react the right way. Take yourself out of it for a second. Pick a deep but it could be frustrating people Believe it. I can only imagine for adam schefter that had to be incredibly incredibly frustrating. Because that was really bad. Just go turn and say. Look at the account blue checkmark. The name isn't my name and move onto jerk for throwing your made under the bus. You got to address it. If you're not healing throwing you're you're not throwing colleague under the bus. You're clarifying the truth whether i had to put a press..
