"I was giving a lecture. Not long ago on cole porter. And i brought up even centipede and the whole crowd knew exactly what i was talking about. And said it's the gershwin's is it. Okay for you. Look at me. Those that i know something that you buy. I thought that was a good gas. And i just thought i thought it was cole porter for some reason. But the point is human centipede. That's right asked him sewing humans mouth to ass and the thing that i was always trying to understand about that movie and i did watch the movies. There's a mad scientist. Obviously because there's always a mad scientist yeah. My guess is his credentials had been pulled at some point when he proposed the whole mouth to ask sewing and anyway he's as mad scientists and he does this and it's never why he thinks this is a good idea. It's never clear no purpose for it. And then he acts like. This is going to work somehow. It it doesn't it doesn't work they. It doesn't make any sense on any level. And so i left the movie instead of being titillated in shocked. I left being angry at the bad science. I felt like he had let me. Does your issue with the film issue at the film is this is. He didn't think this through. Maybe it's a way to solve world. Hunger no doesn't matter if it worked if you could ingest someone's feces and then and then expel your feces into someone else's mouth. You don't need food. We would've figured that out so long ago we would've figured out that this guy cracked the if someone was like. Oh my god and listen. This conversation is taking very dark. Turn into fifteen year old girls. Yes because she is right and she and she always says look. Women got this out of the way when we were teenagers and men. We never thought about this stuff. They shouldn't so when we went up. It was sleep the first night second night burrito night you can eat as many burritos as you can have But they take care of you. You're not you're not setting up all right. Here's my question it's clamping but up. You know a fourteen thousand foot mountain. You and i climb mount rainier and we. "Joel mchale welcome. You're a rarity on this podcast. I kind of know some of the people that i talked to on the podcast. You and i hang out a lot. We've as well okay this. We wasn't memorable but we. I remember we knew you. Obviously you had a on the show back in the day and I there's joel mchale. And i like you and i liked your work. I'll never forget what happened. Once my wife. And i are with our two babies little babies and we are flying back from seattle because my wife's from seattle and i'm way back in the way way back you're in the last row. We're in the last row of an alaskan airline flight from seattle to los angeles and you and your lovely wife and your babies are in the row right in front of us literally literally right in front of us. You were so happy that you were a row in front of me. We're both crammed in the back of This flight but it was a bonding experience because our children were not having it. They were infants and they were shrieking. You're shrieking i was mad. Yeah superman i mean what. I'm on basic cat. You should have been furious because they you should have. You could have rented the whole plane out. This is a window into how cheap i am. But i am because conan is taller than me and the back of the plane as everyone knows. There's no legroom and you there's no headroom either. It's it's where the plane the bank comes to a point. Yeah so our knees were up in our faces and the only thing interrupting us was the bathroom door opening using every few seconds so we had this this intense experience together and then the plane went down. Plane went down a lot of people known killed. Fortunately you completely lost it and started cannibalizing. People weren't even dead around you saying that's how i get my the you were eating flesh and said we need this to survive and i said no it was a pretty safe landing and there's an arby's right over there. No i once i click in once it happens. I mean flash. You have to wear it me to another place but anyway after that experience we started hanging out and so i have an insight into you. Which is you're a lot of fun to hang out with you. Love love love cooking. I do and you make you'll have us over to your house. My wife and i already your house and you will make the most amazing meet. Look when you and lisa come over liza when you and liza coming out when you i you're right. I am allama snob about everything practically mean what i'm wearing now like i've judged your shirt. This shirt is missing in maine. This is a nice watch. I liked and i went out and i work hard and make good money and so i bought the watch. You always say yeah. I found out that. If i do this gig in a A strip mine. If i can get there by myself then the company will give me the watch. So that's what i did. I did a show for fifteen miners at a strip mine. And then i had to make my way back through the forest and during the show the canary died. Yeah pitching the poison. But i'm only half done. But i'm i'm going to hang in there. Tell until i get that but you have no. You weren't enthusiast. i. I find it infectious. I really do. I really like. I've very much enjoyed hanging out with you guys and drinking too much drinking way too much. I don't feel like you've ever drink enough. I feel like you're just getting started by the time you leave. And yeah you've hit a couple of our trees and the and the wall. But i feel like we need to make three day thing. I've proposed that actually that we go someplace safe where we do nothing but eat steak and drink wine. I think the steak is probably worse for you. It just i would. We would both agree. Our wives are the not just the secret weapon but the lead singers. And the yeah. My wife is very picky who she wants to be around that true and so she oh will they come over. That means it's a relaxing evening. Oh that's good. We made that. When i was saying that shit it was like six years before i ever put that list to get by the way the celtics thing if i'd put together ten million for minority stake that would have been great. Investment wasn't wrong Just couldn't put the ten million together back then. And honestly if i knew people they weren't going to give me the money anyway And it doesn't make any sense. It was a stupid thing it was young. And even though you're older you can still be just as dumb trust me but yeah everything on the list there. It didn't happen within a year but everything happened except for the zoo which i do regret. That's all right. I've probably better. It might have been better for me at some stages in boston. I'm i'm comfortable knowing what you can or can't do i almost want to put these limitations on you. I'd imagine that even though that versatility is incredible because it's real and you've proven to be successful so many things that probably early in your career people had a hard time figuring out like it was more of a challenge because they couldn't quite figure out exactly what you were which is almost a negative in the beginning yet Well i yeah i again. I'm i like seventeen jobs when i was a teenager and i never stopped having that same attitude and i always people always like. Do you like being a comedian actor. A host better house like do i have to choose at why and i never. I always now. The example know people jamie foxx posting stuff but early on alec baldwin. Did the same. And and i was at. I remember jimmy smits. We did sons of anarchy and he was like. Yeah man always keep them guessing. And that's the kinda i just never wanted to. I never went into going like i'm going to be. But i think when going back to what you're saying about typecasting P people when i i've seen young actors that are starting out when i was young going. I don't wanna be typecast. And i was like you. Pray to god. You get typecast that you're so good at something you get noticed for it and then you become solvent and people actually pay you. Pray to god and pray to god. You have the problem of breaking the typecasting right so like woody. Harrelson probably typecast as a sitcom actor when he was on cheers. Obviously that that change and so Young people i think so. I wanted to get auditions for the leads. In things like community and i could not get those before the suv astun as i got on television instead of auditioning for neighbor number three or wacky cousin all of a sudden. The two thousand seventeen game one viewership number was eighteen. Point seven four million so that means ten million less viewers for game one of the nba finals in just four years. I don't have an answer for you. If i did i'd be making more money. Yes it was. Warriors cavs part three. Yes it's lebron. Yes it's durant yes it staff and a little clay for cerruti. Two thousand eighteen. That number went from eighteen. Point seven million to seventeen point six million. So you know. You're in the ballpark. Who knows what day was know. You probably factor that kind of stuff in and then once. Toronto is in the mix and there was no abroad. Went from and a half million to twelve point. Three million which makes sense. I mean is toronto. And there's no lebron that's it. I know there's a lot of other points that are brought up stuff of this debated hey is part of the social stuff. Whatever it is. I mean people that are turned off from the nba because of social justice messages throughout a game The numbers not ten million people is not zero. But it's not ten million people and i. It's there's no way that that's the overwhelming factor here. It's no lebron and then it's also something that should be a lesson to all of us that pretend to be experts when it comes to programming because we were on tv. So we think oh. Will we get it. Because i remember i even asked the nba about it. And this wasn't my idea. Other people have talked about it. But i just hey you know. This is an opportunity this going back to last year. Do you think this may be forever. Impact the nba calendar. Where you run your finals through august you own that dead period where we had all these basketball tournaments and everybody's trying to figure out a way to capitalize on this empty sports period of the last two weeks of july because we were seeing it with all this different programming and then that way you punt on the fall and then you start the nba season. Christmas and your way from college football and by the time the super bowl's over your you know a month into it and then you own the rest of that calendar all right. I've brought it up others have brought it up. I'm not. I don't know who is the first person to ever bring it up so when all of the stuff happened with the work i i'm not gonna call it a work stoppage ibn accurate when basketball. Stop and say that because it wasn't like some sort of cba deal. I asked league. Office i go. Is this a chance to test this out. And maybe see what happens and the guy was emphatic. About egos you guys keep bringing this up. You're wrong iran iran. We do studies on this guys. And the number of tv's that are on in the united states during that stretch of july and into august. It's just a lower number because people are gone and then you add in that. The country basically opened up mid june. So you have. Nba finals games in july. Where people for the most part have been able to go anywhere for a year so the travel part of this. Whether it's getting on a plane which. I don't even think it's as much as invincible were kind of booking numbers you look at our stocks. You know everything all that kind of stuff just people get in the car. Going somewhere sitting status. Stay home and watch more basketball night. That's the biggest impact so that part finals games in july. No lebron clearly part of it. But it's still a really scary number from four years ago but it's also evidence of why the nba was like actually. We don't wanna do that. We don't want ever finals and playoffs go through july and then have the finals in august is because we're avoiding football. The number of tv's on in homes based on our studies is a significantly lower number because people have lives and people go places during those two months. And that's not what we want to have our best basketball on. And i think this number a pretty good.

They made me feel uncomfortable.

Finale of the mortal combat eleven pro competition in Chicago at the historic Park West Theater bringing together the top sixteen mortal combat eleven players from around the world. The tournament culminated with the back to back world. Champion Sonic Fox from the US plane as the joker defeating CG L. Ninja Keleti twelve also from the US in an intense performance during the grand finals match to take home the final combat with a k. Twenty twenty trophy and the forty thousand dollars first place prize. Sonic Fox actually won one of their matches by coming back from having about one percent health which was needless to say pretty impressive and they also closed out their acceptance speech by saying vote Bernie while wearing a transgender pride flag on their back alongside their iconic big Blue Fox head that Sonic Fox always wears. It was a pretty fantastic way to close out the competition in terms of news developer. Nether realm shared a gameplay trailer for spawn. Who is the last fighter being added to mortal Kombat eleven as part of the Combat Pack? Ye will be available on March seventeenth to those who purchased the combat pack with a k. His gameplay trailer showed him using his chains predominantly to attack but also has the ability to turn invisible and cycle through a number of weapons can magically summon like axes and guns. He has one big attack where he leaps in the air and opens his Cape to reveal dozens of guns and summons these demonic hands to rip his opponent apart. His fatality was also shown and it features a cameo from Mal. Bolger spot is also voiced by. Keith David in Mortal Kombat eleven which is fun because Keith. David is great. We all know that. But also because it's a callback to when he voiced the character for HBO's Animated Spawn Show Back in nineteen ninety-seven a trailer was also shown for a mortal Kombat animated film called Mortal Kombat Legends. Scorpions revenge in the trailer. Scorpion gets some very violent revenge and familiar mortal KOMBAT phrases like get over here and finish him are spoken and then Johnny Cage who has voiced by. Joel McHale appears. He says things like this better not go straight to video before the trailer flash at the movie would be available on. Blu Ray on April twenty eighth. The trailer also had these title cards. Hyping up the fact that it is very violent and that has a lot of bad language. The movie really seems to be earning its R rating. You can find a link to the trailer in the show notes but in terms of visuals it is reminiscent of DC's collection of straight to video animated movies. I've never been a big mortal Kombat guy myself but I appreciate Nether realms focus on making sure it's fighting games are fun to play as single player Games. I would like to see more fighting games
