The Popularity of Donald Trump Is About to Skyrocket
"Democrats are not actually playing chess. This is a bad game of checkers, and they're not thinking this through. I say this only in that I know what their motivation is. They want to make sure that he never, ever, ever, ever, gets near the Oval Office again. But by doing this, they actually are going to have a boomerang effect where they make catapult the guy into the Oval Office. I mean, think about this. Who the heck? Are they going to run from the Democrat party? I'm sorry, but Joe Biden has really proven. He's lack of worst as a president between the inflation. You heard me just talking about eggs 6% inflation. We got a banking crisis underway. Who the heck knows what the fed's going to do, by the way, the CEO of key city capital is coming up Thai Lasseter. He's going to talk to us about what to expect from the fed. There are meeting today and tomorrow. We have so many problems. The situation in Ukraine. The situation with China, meanwhile, congressional investigations are turning up allegations that his family, Biden's family was benefiting tremendously from China. So if there's financial kickbacks going on, those are things that do, in fact, need to be investigated. And this is all baggage that Joe Biden carries with him. I do not think that he is electable. Second time around. So who are they going to put forward? Kamala, I mean, my gosh, poor Kamala,

Are We Now a Banana Republic?
"This is the kind of stuff that happens in these banana republics. And I don't mean to pick on Brazil. So if anyone's from Brazil, I apologize in advance, but let's face it in Brazil, like everyone goes to jail. It's in the government. I mean, think about Lula, he went to Dale. Of course, now he's president again, go figure Dilma Rousseff didn't she go to jail as well. This is not the United States of America. I don't love the story. I don't even like to say the words stormy Daniels, but they're alleging, of course, that he paid her off in this kind of hush hush money scheme. And that therefore is illegal. And then he lied about it, and maybe used campaign funds, et cetera, et cetera. This is Alvin Bragg, who's alleging all this. He is the liberal prosecutor. There are the DA in New York City whose campaign actually was funded to the tune of a $1 million by a liberal group called color of change, political action group, which actually is in part funded by George Soros. So there's a lot of blue money here behind this. And the Democrats wanted this, right? They haven't given up. They think that this motivates their base, but I get news for them. You know what this is going to do? This is actually going to help Donald Trump immensely. Immensely, because no one wants to see a former president. I'm sorry. You know what? When I see the video of Joe Biden falling on the stairs of Air Force One, I don't like it. I actually cringe, I don't like Joe Biden's policies as you well know. I don't think he's a very good president, but the last thing I want to see is him falling on the stairs over and over again. I don't like that because you know what that to me reflects on our country.

"So this is from the associated depress president Joe Biden issued the first veto of his presidency today In an early sign of shifting White House relations with the new Congress since Republicans took control of the House in January a move that serves as a prelude to bigger battles with GOP lawmakers when government spending in the nation's debt limit These run on sentences are unbelievable But yes Biden sought to kill a Republican authored measure that would ban the government from considering environmental impacts or potential lawsuits when making investment decisions for people's retirement plans Excuse me Environmental impacts of potential lawsuits that goes well beyond that And so here's the associated depress who wrote this damn thing Zeke Miller and Kim Two propagandists for the left In a video released by The White House Biden said he vetoed the measure because it put at risk the retirement savings of individuals across the country Let me tell you something about the use of language here The use or should I say the abuse of language is something that has been perfected by totalitarian regimes Whether national socialists straight up fascists marxists any combination thereof So the plane understanding of words is changed In addition new words are created New words are created And the whole goal here is to promote propaganda and ideology and to brainwash you So the language is dumbed down The language is changed Words lose their meaning where it's changed their meaning

Grading the U.S. Rule of Law With Joe DiGenova and Victoria Toensing
"Talk to me about if you had to, if you arrive from another planet? And you were an expert in the law. How would you grade the rule of law in America to David Victoria? Where do we stand? No, it's an F and because not only just the things that are done, but people are watching this and now no longer have trust in the judicial system. With violent crime in New York on a rampage and then this and the Bragg, this is the priority for Alvin Bragg. We've had bad cases in our career of U.S. attorneys being corrupt. And we had one case where U.S. attorney took a misdemeanor local election law and tried to make it be a RICO. But you know what happened? We got a good federal judge who said, this is not, this is not a RICO. This is a misdemeanor and let our client plead to a misdemeanor. Where are those judges now? That's what bothering me. Do they got frightened by January 6th? Especially the judges, the federal judges in the District of Columbia. They got frightened by January 6th, and they don't want to be blamed for being too soft on anybody involved in January 6th. Whether they did harm or not. And as a result of that, they have advocated their responsibility to be fair and impartial to the people appearing before him. Joe DiGenova and Victoria Toensing Unpack the News of the Day
"Happiest in studio with me, your favorite Joe digenova Victoria than Singh. On a day, a hundred and 64 years ago, when the Republican Party was established, which led to the abolition of slavery, thanks to the first Republican president called Lincoln, little public service announcement there, yes. The KKK was the armed wing of the Democrat party and the first Republican president was the great emancipator. I think it is upper side for us to discuss some Republican responses to the news of the last 72 hours, saying that for some reason, one side of the political divide should surrender their rights to protests. You know if they never said Black Lives Matter, I don't think you should go out there and protest. After George Floyd. But remember, this was in the middle of the pandemic. And everyone was told to stay home. Stay home, don't go out. And don't congregate when groups. Yes. And all of a sudden, after George Floyd, a whole bunch. I mean, like a hundred and some doctors, quote unquote, wrote this public statement saying, well, we said not to go out, but there are some causes that are more social. That are more important. Don't let this be an okay for you to go out and protest being locked up. And basically they said that in the public letter, it was pathetic.

Joe DiGenova and Victoria Toensing Discuss Allegations Against Them
"You see what's happened in the last 7 years, Joan Victoria. Well, let's talk about what you've experienced. You were targeted by the FBI. You would targeted by the DoJ in such a way that your client attorney privileges were trampled upon, and you found out as a result of a search warrant to take your electronic devices. That your information in a previous period, the year earlier. In secretly to have been secretly taken off the cloud. So your communications. They had all my have been taken. They already had all my attorney client privileges. What happened to the case again? So they were trying to find out what you and Rudy and others. That was for the time period, 2019, when Rudy and I were talking to whistleblowers in Ukraine. Oh, just the former prosecutor generals. You know, like an attorney general here. Yeah, the guy who's investigating. And his predecessor. We were talking to both of them about representation and we were going to fly to Ukraine to talk with them and meet with them to see if they want to representation. When we were told that there were threats against us. And you were accused of being in violation of the foreign agents registration. But I didn't have a quiet. But they couldn't even tell you who you were supposed to be representing. And then what happened to that accusation against you? Nothing to see here after 18 months. But, but with the statement that they do not choose to watch. At this time, we're not going to be no criminal charges at this point. At this time, which is Stalin ask. But they were trying to do, which is what the whole thing was designed to do was shut besides finding out what information Victoria and Rudy had against the bidens. They wanted to shut them up. To shut them up from not discussing anything publicly. And then when they found when they clearly knew right from the beginning, that there was no criminal law violation, they abuse the criminal law process in order to get access to more information. Once that didn't work, so they said, well, let's try to shut them up further. We'll inform the judge that we don't need we don't need a person anymore to review all the attorney client privilege information. So after we paid for it, and there are going to be no criminal charges at this time to make everybody think that there could be some later to shut everybody up. Well, people are not going to shut up. What Role Would Secret Service Play in Possible Trump Arrest?
"You were in studio for journey the 6 and Joe, you talked about your unique role back then as the U.S. attorney for D.C. helping to make sure that the capital was secure talking with the capital police back then. This morning Dan bongino is a friend of mine, whose former Secret Service was talking on his show, but it's very, it may be tactical, but I think it grabs our imagination. The Secret Service has a federal protectee called president Trump. It is their job to protect this man every nanosecond of the day. The idea that they're just going to lead him into a police station or central booking, to be surrounded by criminals, people in handcuffs or whatever. Can that happen in America? Is the NYPD as Bragg's office really going to Trump the Secret Service? You've dealt with these issues. Walk us through the absurdity of tomorrow's potential event. Well, I think what's clear is that the president will have to be accompanied by Secret Service agents wherever he goes inside the police headquarters or the police station or wherever this booking is going to occur. If they insist on it occurring, if he is indicted, then the Secret Service will have to be present when he's photographed. I mean, they can not just Willy nilly, put him in the hands of the police. Well, they're not allowed to do that. So the Secret Service can't hand over the security of the president, nor can they allow him to go to a place which is insecure. And what is the Secret Service? Sorry. We can't control central booking. Therefore, we will not permit you to take our detail into central booking. Are we talking about an immovable object meeting with an unstoppable object? Well, the New York police had every means to accommodate the needs of the former president if they need if there has to be a booking. If there are charges, that can be done anywhere.

House GOP Demands the NYC District Attorney Turnover Documents
"The house GOP demands the New York City district attorney turnover documents and give testimony as to the politically motivated persecution of Donald Trump. That's a great sign. That would not have happened a decade ago. Paul Ryan and his pack of moderates would have been like, wow, this is not us. We don't want to interview with an investigation. That's ridiculous. I'm glad they're doing that. I'm talking about district attorneys. I'm talking about attorney generals. Do we have a current grand jury right now in a red state? Against Joe Biden, the treason he's committed against America, if not, why not ask your attorney general? Do we have a current investigation into the Clinton crime foundation of the crimes that they committed against the American homeland or maybe even committed in Arkansas, by the way? Arkansas is a super red state that the clintons and the bidens have both heavily trafficked throughout the last couple of years. You're trying to tell me that you couldn't find a misdemeanor that Hunter Biden committed an Arkansas. So if this is the new threshold, if the new threshold American politics is, wow, you have a misdemeanor of a payment to stormy Daniels that could be classified as a campaign finance thing. Then what exactly would you call it when you get a $3 million wire from a Chinese Communist Party affiliated company? Why does a Republican district attorney not investigate them right now? Bitcoin Was Born Out of a Banking Crisis
"Bitcoin as many have already said was born out of an earlier banking crisis. The blockchain's very first block contained a message about bailouts. It was designed to disintermediate third parties from Internet money by making people responsible for their own keys in contrast to the highly intertwined private banking sector and public sector. President Joe Biden has said U.S. taxpayers will not foot the bill for the bailout and that unlike in 2008, the architects of this financial crash will not benefit. There are enough responsible actors here to play the blame game, but if you're like Tatiana, the issue is the system itself. Senior management of Silicon Valley bank sold millions of dollars worth of shares in the lead up to the crash. This is seemingly the only risk management they performed. In 2015, SVB chief executive Greg Becker said institutions like SVB did not present systemic risks while testifying before Congress over plans to deregulate banking that were implemented in 2018. SVB essentially took a bet that interest rates would stay near zero forever. Over the past couple of years, it took deposits from a tech industry that was booming in part due to historically low rates that made venture capital financing worth the risk for many investors. In an effort to juice as much yield as possible from those deposits, SVB put a majority of its money into long-term fixed rate interest investments. The Federal Reserve essentially created the foundation for a tech hype cycle through financial engineering to stimulate the economy, and then through the frying pan into ice water when things got too hot. The recent interest rate rises were not necessarily unpredictable, but the fed's inconsistent messaging, saying rate hikes were unthinkable until they weren't, did not help the situation.

Failed Bank Chooses 'Wokeness' Over Stability
"Had to forgot man the article that I was reading through $83 billion from corporate organizations. Now that didn't go to the street hustlers all of it, it was these major corporations that were just that were just straight up woke and a lot of that was just fun fit to Democrat campaigns. I mean, it was a Money Heist is what it was, but all of these people want to virtue signal. You have to keep in mind that there are leaders, right? They're the people that will be the leaders, the little corrupt elites at the top at the top of the totem pole. The Gavin Newsom is the Joe Biden of the world. There's always going to be the useful idiots like an SB bank who double down on what was it? Was it? They doubled down on it says here had to have forgotten man. This from Justin news, as SVB investment failures mounted, the bank doubled down on its ideological commitments by pledging $5 billion in new green tech outlays despite signs of rising interest rates, negatively impacting that sector, some incidents, institutional and investors also began to raise concerns about the overall balance sheet. These foods were straight up woke and they were cricket as all get out as well, but this is all about creating a new morality, taking you away from government are God and bringing you to government. And here's what they want. They create these device of issues, CRT, DEI. Excuse me, the trans movement, and what these people, the useful idiots that they need, these people get all wrapped up in these issues. Hunter Biden Admits Laptop Belongs to Him
"I want to work on connecting the dots with some of these cultural issues. Tying or connecting the dots with the corruption. All right, so what I was telling you about the Hunter Biden laptop, we were telling you about the $3 million that would split in three ways between the Biden crime family. There was another partner involved whose name escapes me at this point. I'll get that back to you later. Halle Biden is the new Biden member that got a little bit of that Chinese communist cash. And then there's still an unknown Biden. So we'll have to wait and see if Joe Biden is named, but listen, we know that Hunter Biden is not going to make money, we're not for his dad being the vice president or being the president of the United States. Now, they pick on this guy, John Mack Isaac. Isaac said a man who believed who he believed to be Hunter Biden dropped off three laptops, all right? At his store, this was in April 2019, only one was salvageable. He repaired the laptop, and then that's where he when he discovered the disturbing material. He said the customer did not return. We now know that customer is Hunter Biden for 90 days, all right? He couldn't get in touch with him. So Isaac said he first searched the emails by key word in June or July of 2019, according to Isaac's account, the FBI first made a forensic copy of the laptop, then returned weeks later with the subpoena to confiscate the laptop. When he stopped hearing from the FBI, the FBI, they're still holding the laptop to this day. You know, ran by Christopher wray, the not so not so moral FBI today. When he stopped hearing from the FBI, Isaac said he contacted several members of Congress. They just simply didn't respond. They didn't respond. So at that point, his intermediary reached out to Rudy Giuliani's attorney, Robert Costello. Now, Hunter Biden has seemingly acknowledged our admitted that the laptop was his back in February of this year or last month, but I don't know what gave it away. I don't know if it was his body naked body being all over the freaking thing that gave it away or what, but he finally admitted to it. These people are morons.

Rep. James Comer: Analyzing Payments to Biden Family From Associate
"James comer was on Hannity last night, here's what he had to say, cut 12. One thing that I noticed that was unique about these wire transfers is each transfer is like a check. You have the name address date, the dollar amount, and also the memo, which is what it's for. Every other wire transfer from Robinson walker had something listed in the memo, except the one to the bidens. So if they had put in the memo, I might have had a little better idea of what the money was for, that the Biden received. But at the end of the day, what Joe Biden's defenders have said is this is a business deal. This is a business deal. Well, what's the business Sean? There's no business. There's no business. They were influenced peddling. It looks like they were getting money for some type of service. Now, I don't think Hunter Biden could provide the type of service that would generate millions and millions of dollars from the Chinese Communist Party, but I believe his father could. So when they say that Joe Biden wasn't involved, we don't know that. We just know that Joe Biden met with a lot of these people that ended up going in business with hunter or ended up paying hunter rather and the family. And that's another thing they've tried to imply that there was only a couple of family members, but what we found is there are multiple family members and there's going to end up being between four and 7 Biden's who received significant amounts of money from communist China. Biden Approves Drilling Project and Snubs Climate Change Allies
"So much surprisingly, Joe Biden has approved a massive drilling project in Alaska. This project allows the oil company called conical Phillips to go ahead with a, it's actually a project a 30 year project of drilling. And it's called the willow project. And it's giving the climate change people and the environmentalist people a real heart attack, which is a good thing. It's a good thing in the sense that they don't know what to make of it. They are quote deeply disappointed in the actions of Biden, they're claiming that he made assurances to them that this sort of thing would not happen, but it is happening. And by the way, it comes on the heels of Biden assigning a bill that knocks out the rewrite of the D.C. criminal code. So this is sort of the second turn code ish act by Biden from the point of view of the left and the question I want to look at is why did he do it? Now, a few details, this is a drilling project that will produce 576 million barrels of oil, so it's a big deal. And of course, he has Ann Alexander from the national and natural resources defense council. This would be an enormous carbon bomb. It's the single largest project currently proposed on federal lands because it involves three separate drilling sites. Now, the willow project had been greenlighted had been cleared by the Trump administration, and then Biden came back came in and stopped it. And so it was kind of halted in its tracks. But now Biden has to explain why he is essentially giving a clearance to a Trump approved project. And he says, well, we negotiated with conical Phillips. They've agreed to back off of some leases on federal land in an area apparently of Alaska that is home to Caribou and other wildlife. So this is apparently the concession made by ConocoPhillips. Yeah, we'll take this massive drilling project, but we'll give up this thing over here. And the left, of course, sees right through it, and they're not exactly appeased.

"All right I'm starting with the lead story in the municipal bond market Matt You have to go there The American Dream mall over there in the swamps of Jersey surprise they need more time to pay back a $1.7 billion loan Joe my sick joints is here He covers all things munis How bad is it over there at the American Dream mall Joe Well there are not getting the amount of sales that they thought they would so they have $1.7 billion in debt that they want to restructure and of course they also have 800 million in municipal bonds That are senior in repayment range I thought I would just drop that on Yeah That surprised me I thought that the senior debt the bank debt would have been senior to the communities but no no No no Okay So fascinating in this week as Martin broad pointed out some American Dream bonds actually traded and price was I think 92 92 and a half and those were originally priced at 99 So there you go Matt John Tucker's reporting in They have now erected a giant Ferris wheel at the American law So now you have to go Well you know what I'm doing while you guys talk munis I'm looking through the Dodge challenger RT scat pack Yeah That I want to get But I'm just going to set you back a little bit Not much It's the perfect car I feel like for the American Dream call dream ball I knew we were getting there It's muscle Pure 6.4 liter naturally aspirated Hemi just pure muscle Nice Corners There's not even a steering wheel Just go straight Naturally Yeah No turbos you know no superchargers like the hellcat just the straight up just a big lump of a motor that pushes it along there Paul and I are going to visit this mall at some point Is this the one that has the huge like an indoor skiing Yes And there was an electrical fire that shut everything down there At the ski slope et cetera and that's being fixed up and I think things are going to be reopening there more totality this spring Talk to us about what's going on with our good friends down in Texas If I'm an investment banker can I sell municipal debt in Texas It seems like city and Goldman and JPMorgan are having some problems there Well actually cities has worked its way back in But Goldman Bank of America JPMorgan Chase are still hanging fire because of this Texas gun protection law if you will And we had a very interesting story out this week by Amanda albright and Danielle Moran Okay All about how this is spreading to other states There's a gun lobbying group and they want lawmakers in Arizona Kentucky Missouri Ohio South Dakota and West Virginia to pass similar legislation which is very chilling in the municipal bond market as you can imagine Now some of those states don't sell a lot of bonds but what usually happens is your big banks will go in and take the big deals and it looks like the big banks may not be able to underwrite there anymore Yeah I saw this story in the Bloomberg this week I always read stories about once an investment bank hires or fire somebody just to see if I know Did you see those people But city lost a municipal investment banker a couple of them to some smaller firm I'd never heard of because that small affirm I've never heard of can still do the municipal deals where at city or some of these bigger firms maybe they're getting shut out Yeah And those states I met with 6 stage that are looking at this legislation you know in a matter of speaking this actually several more that are in the sights of this gun lobbying group So it is a developing issue for this year certainly in the municipal market By very disturbing to bankers By the way muni bonds backed often by public transport revenues and I've been riding the subway for fun lately It's a fun It is a mess Why do you say It's to the point where it's amusing People live on the subway They always have dude All right I didn't write it before Anyway it seems pretty empty Are the revenues just not coming in Very interesting With All the subways all the mass transit public transportation is subsidized And you could take a look and say okay here's the operating expenses And here's your operating revenue And the operating revenue is always below And it's always being subsidized by states from localities and some federal government money And what you have at 50% is well knock off 50% of your revenue And guess what That's going to have to be made up by somebody else Mister taxpayer Yep Yep yep I don't know I'll just say New Jersey transit today crickets coming in but tomorrow every train will be packed to the gills as people come in for the bars and the restaurants and the shows and the games but they're just not coming into work So go figure there but my transit It gets me here all the time I can't complain All right Joe Mike Thanks so much That's.

"It's morning edition from NPR news I mean Martinez and Culver City California And I'm Melissa block in Washington D.C. The FDA has given doctors a new tool to use in treating patients with COVID-19 The regulatory agency granted emergency use authorizations to drug maker Pfizer for the antiviral therapy the company has developed Now that would be good news all by itself but even better it appears the new drug will work to treat COVID cases caused by the omicron variant And joining us to talk about this new therapy and how it can be used as empires Joe Parker Joe tell us about it What is it and how does it work Well it's called pax levied or pax lovid if you prefer It works by messing with a key enzyme in the coronavirus called a protease And if you inhibit the protease the virus can't grow and spread You take it with another drug called ritonavir twice a day for 5 days The company conducted a study in some 2200 volunteers that showed that it could reduce the risk of hospitalization and death by close to 90% in people at high risk for the disease Susannah Maggie is an associate Professor of infectious diseases at duke university medical center It does appear to be a highly efficacious oral pill which we've been waiting on for quite some time That seems like great news for a lot of people who is it for specifically Joe Well it's for people 12 and older who weigh more than 88 pounds and who have mild to moderate symptoms but are at high risk of developing severe disease Now the best results are if you take the drug within three days of the symptoms appearing Chris white is an assistant Professor of medicine at the icahn school of medicine at Mount Sinai hospital in New York where he's been working with paxil And he says what's really impressive is the drug appears to prevent hospitalizations even if you wait 5 days after the symptoms first appear And that is critical for these acute infections to have as big a window as possible Because you know you have people that get sick they start to feel bad They say let me wait let me not do anything I don't want to go to the doctor And before you know it two three days pass is very quickly So if the window is 5 days that means people still get a chance to benefit from the drug Right Now we mentioned that the drug does appear to work against the omicron variant but if vaccines are less effective against oma crown why isn't this drug facing the same problems Well good question Vaccines are designed based on the spike protein which is a different part of a different protein in the virus The spike protein in a Macron has a lot of mutations but they don't seem to be many mutations in the genes for the protease And remember this is a protease inhibitor So in theory that shouldn't be a problem And there are lab tests that suggest the drug will work But of course to be certain it would be necessary to test the drug in patients infected with autocrat and those tests haven't been done yet Right Now there was another drug that a lot of people were expecting would get an emergency use authorization That's one name by Merck What happened to that one Well that drug is called monopoly and it received an endorsement from an FDA advisory committee last month And it's not entirely clear why it didn't get an EUA A lot of people were expecting that it would It's also an antiviral It works by causing errors in the RNA when the virus tries to make copies of itself And it was also tested in a large clinical trial And the drug did reduce hospitalizations and deaths not quite not nearly as well as packed with it There's also a question of whether the mal new pair of air can cause DNA damage So it's not the ideal drug but Susanna nagy says there's still reason to think it would be helpful in treating people with COVID especially because at least initially that drug will be more available than pax levied For the right person where there risk benefit favors taking it I still think it's probably going to be a drug that we see used at least for now particularly given the numbers that we're seeing with spreading in various parts of the country So there's a chance that the FDA will still grant an EUA from all new pair and it probably would be helpful to have as just an alternative to pax levy if doctors turned out to need it Okay Joe Parker and pierce Joe Parker thanks so much You're right You're welcome The House select committee investigating the January 6th insurrection at the capitol wants to talk to representative Jim Jordan The Ohio Republican is a strong ally of former president Trump Jordan is also the second sitting member of Congress that the panel has asked a question representative Scott Perry of Pennsylvania declined the panel's request earlier this week And piers deirdre wall shoe covers Congress joins us now to try to explain all of this for us and your first why does the committee want to speak with Jim Jordan Good morning Will Jordan has already publicly said that he spoke to president Trump on January 6th and in the letter that the commerce committee chairman the select committee chairman Benny Thompson sent to Jordan yesterday he mentions that the two could have had multiple conversations If that's the case the committee wants to talk to him about each one in detail They also want to talk to him about any meetings he was in in the days leading up to the insurrection with White House officials or outside activists who were planning efforts to overturn the 2020 election results They also specifically asked if he was in any discussions about presidential pardons Wyoming congresswoman Liz Cheney she's a member of the select committee She's called him quote a material witness Okay so that's the request What has Jim Jordan said about it Well he said last night on Fox News that he just got the letter and he's reviewing it but he also said he has concerns about the way the committee operates But back in October when he was asked about his own actions on January 6th he did indicate a possible willingness to cooperate and Benny Thompson actually noted that in his letter to Jordan here's an exchange that Jordan had in October with democratic congressman Jim mcgovern I guess are you willing to tell the select.

"And that should not be allowed No not in what this country was founded upon and what the system was supposed to be Now I want to get in a call here from Lance and lacrosse Wisconsin hello lands Hello there Thank you I once heard years ago an estimated one out of 5 jobs in this country are considered essential and viewed from the top down the people that actually own and control of course on who is defining what is essential People that like old and control the United States but I'm simply saying that the different people will define essential in different ways for different categories at work I'm really noting this Overall guideline of what is essential in this universally agreed upon What would be considered essential to sustain the integrity of this colossus United States of America on the global stage Military governments were submarines railroads agriculture or mining Engineering key positions in universities and research things like that Not very many people needed to run a soul Like agriculture of course they've got to eat and they've got to do a number of other things and you get right down to it And that's one of the things about a free market system It pretty much defines what is or is not considered essential is the tendency of sporting events and rock concerts essential apparently to a lot of people Comments from the jokes solely before we pause Go ahead Joe Well you know I'm not sure what the question was from him Well basically we're talking about the defining of what our essential workers the Lance what were you wanting to know about essential workers or were you really stating a point I'm saying as far as the powers that be are concerned that is 80% or so of the population could just die go away It was not phase them at the top Well they might be surprised at what did or did not faze them but I understand the attitude that you're talking about You know we were in the way of not deemed essential and okay is that a fairly accurate assumption on the part of the Lance Gerald They don't care about anything but themselves These are the people that are in office There was this guy by the name of Dwight D eyes and Howard 5 star general supreme commander of the allied forces to turn president Anybody could Google it up He said any one any man seeking the office of president is either an ego maniac or crazy The people at the people that want to get into office the politicians that's who they are They're narcissistic and they're only concerned about themselves They don't care about weak.

"And at Bloomberg quick take this is Bloomberg radio From the world of politics this arbitrary debt ceiling process I think we ought to get rid of entirely To the world of business People aren't going back to the service sector because they see it as unreliable This is balance of power with David Weston From Bloomberg world headquarters in New York to our TV and radio audiences worldwide welcome to balance of power Congress may be taking a short break right now but The White House is hard at work trying to move President Biden's economic agenda forward despite all that resistance we've been seeing For the state of play right now we turn now to Washington correspondent Joe Matthew host of sound on weekdays on Bloomberg radio Joe Thanks for coming to us from The White House Give us a sense what's going on in that building behind you at The White House Are they getting a little discouraged Well they might be after hearing some of the language on Sunday morning television David the fact of the matter is not much has changed since last week When you and I were talking about a deal struck between the democratic leader in the Senate and Mitch McConnell the Republican leader to extend or lift the debt ceiling until the beginning of December The house is expected to act on that tomorrow The president of course says he will sign it But then as President Biden returns from a weekend in Delaware he's going to be facing essentially all of the same issues he was before the start of this weekend That debt ceiling increase is going to coincide with a run out of government funding on December 3rd So much like the myth of Sisyphus Joe Biden and his democratic colleagues are going to have to restart this whole debate all over again David And based on what we're hearing from progressives and moderates there are largely digging in their heels and haven't really moved from their positions from last week So we're staring down the barrel of a potential government shutdown and potential default yet again And it will likely be Democrats turn to handle it this time as we've been reporting on Bloomberg Mitch McConnell the Senate minority leader sent a letter to Joe Biden over the weekend saying that's it You may have thrown your bone for help on the debt ceiling this time but Republicans David will have nothing to do with a lift or a suspension when that comes up again in December Yeah if we thought that bipartisanship was breaking out all over Washington and then we were disabused that notion over the weekend No question about it but as you just pointed out it's not just Republicans but also moderates versus progressives on the democratic side What are the process of moving forward Because that's what we hear increasingly that the president this is sort of his presidency at stake in some senses He's got to make some progress And thus far he has been reluctant to take a position himself right Joe Well that's largely true Although it sure felt like he was warming up to the progressives when he essentially went to Capitol Hill essentially retied the infrastructure and reconciliation bills together again which is what they were looking for here But if you scan the commentary the price tag may be moving from three and a half trillion down to two or two and a half trillion and that is yet to be determined But the real fight is going to be on what goes inside of that reconciliation bill and whether progressives trust the moderates enough to vote for infrastructure while that three and a half $1 trillion plan is nailed down We don't have legislation yet David never minds an actual voting date on that Yeah trust That's a short supply right now of a capital Thank you so much to Joe Matthew Once again he's host of sound on airing 5 p.m. every day on Bloomberg radio On Friday President Biden said that the somewhat disappointing jobs numbers underscored the importance of enacting that economic agenda is Tyler goodspeed had the job of advising former president Trump on the economy as the acting chairman of the console by comic advisers and he is now a fellow at the Hoover institution We're welcome back to Bloomberg So doctor Christmas thank you so much for being here Give us your take on the economy What if anything did those jobs numbers that did come in pretty light compared to comparison What do they tell us of anything about the economy Well David it's always good to be with you Look if you asked me am I more or less concerned about the state of the U.S. economy since we last spoke about a month ago the answer would be more concerned The single most important data point for me that cause concern in that jobs report for September was the fact that almost 200,000 Americans left the labor force in the month of September And the labor force participation rate is now lower than it was in August 2020 And so it's only one month's data and we should never read too much into much into one month of data But it does seem to me consistent with a broader macro picture of a U.S. and indeed global economy with a severely impaired supply side and a combination of policy and pandemic that are exacerbating rather than ameliorating that impairment So Tyler one thing that puzzled me a little bit was we had heard particularly from the Republican side but what we needed to get people back to work was to do away with some of those supplemental unemployment insurance benefits which started to go away First I went away in some states but then they started to go when September Why didn't that help So I think there are a combination of things One is that this survey only includes the reference week that includes the 12th of the month And so it's probably not capturing all of the post expiration changes in employment and unemployment I think another consideration is that on July 15th payments started going out for supplemental first supplemental child tax credit and the design of those additional child tax credit payments are such as to very strongly deter labor force participation And then on top of that you have some non policy things like the fact that by my destinations 1.5 million Americans over the age of 55 and in particular over the age of 65 have taken early retirement many of those folks may not be coming back We still have 1.6 million Americans who report that in the past month they didn't look for work because of the pandemic That has remained stubbornly high in recent months And therefore I think at some point we have to start wondering how many of those people particularly the half million or so over the age of 55 may never come back And there are other considerations like vaccine mandates and other considerations like the fact that the preferences may have shifted that noun employers may have to offer a premium to return workers to the sorts of working arrangements that existed pre COVID So I think you add all this together and to me it suggests that the natural rate of unemployment might be higher than it was pre-pandemic and higher than a lot of monetary policy authorities think Tyler let me pick up on one thing you said which is the child tax credits which might be discouraging as I understood what you're saying discouraging some people going back to work At the same time we're told there is substantial issue with child poverty in this country Is that a tradeoff as a policy matter Do we have to have more childhood.

"Chilling dollars stimulus package is gaining momentum in Congress. One of the questions is what does it mean for states and municipalities? Let's get some more color on that job. My second unit's editor for Bloomberg briefs. All right, Joe, given what we know with this 1.9 Trillion Is there anything in there? Four states municipalities? Happy Friday. Mr Sweeney, Likewise is it's gonna be you know, the cavalry is coming. So far, we've been talking about $350 billion in aid to states and municipalities. And I bet that's what we're going to see when when it's all said and done. I know they're going to have some negotiation over the next few weeks, but there's definitely gonna be something there and Sorely needed by by certain states and certain municipalities, because, as we know the pandemic did not affect them all the same way. Which ones are most in dire need. Joe Well, you know you certainly It's funny thing, uh, the transportation chiefs. Uh, we carried a story the other day about they went toe Washington Nape sent Congress a letter saying that they you know, would appreciate war cash there. I think it was something like that, you know, well over $30 billion So obviously you're public transportation section is looking for help on there are certain certain states. You know, For example, if you take a look at Nevada heavy tourism, you know they're very dependent on tourism, so they're obviously going to be looking for Somebody there. Other states that also have, you know, heavy tourism involved. They're gonna be looking for cash. Certainly. Governor Cuomo has put out the kind of red alert saying that the state needs $15 billion, So I mean, we'll see about Who gets what? But you know, there's there's quite a number of states. I would say we're probably gonna have at least half the states you're gonna qualify for some sort of assistance. And then localities. We don't know how they're gonna handle that. But you know that's that's much more of a rifle shot. And actually, in many ways, they're hurting poor because you know when the states experienced the shortfall last year because many of them were shut down. What do they do is one of the first things they do is they shut off the tap of money to localities, so where they cut? The amount of money they send to localities. So a lot of localities no forced to, uh you know, you know another round of cutting So who actually decides how the money is allocated? Is it Congress? Or is it some other federal government entity decides you know which state gets? How much money You know, I would imagine that they're gonna They would probably set up some sort of special federal entity to determine who gets what? And why? Because I think they want to make it more targeted. They don't want to just say okay here, you know, Based on your population. Here's you know, X billion dollars. Instead, they wanted Really get it to the people who need it, which is a very smart thing, and we shall see. So if you had to pick, I mean, what's the kind of number you expect my go to the states? We know that 1.9 Trillion is very, very unlikely to happen. So it's going to be something less than that. What portion that will go to the states. Do you think Oh, I have to think you know, we've been talking about $350 billion, so maybe between 303 150 billion. I have to think that that's uh, using mobile number toe. Look at you know, maybe the whittle it down a little bit, but not by much, So it's gonna be a portion of the of the overall bill, but It's not a crippling portion will help the states raise more money on their own. I mean, this backing by the federal government will not, you know, make their their municipal bonds more attractive on their own. Well. To the step that the pressure's off and they have to do less cutting, which means that their economies will pick up Mork quickly than that might be the case if they sat there and said, Okay, well, we have to cut our 10%. So here's what we're gonna do, and then lop off a certain number of public employees, and they cut out a certain amount of spending and that act is a drag on the economy overall, so if you if you do get the direct Cash aid, which is what they want. They don't want, you know, forgivable loans and things like that. They want direct cash aid. You know, you're gonna help him out and really get the recovery going. You know, full speed, Joe. How are the flows into the money market here in 2021 Off course we still have flows. I don't think we've met anyhow flows this week as a guest. You know, Yesterday's report number was like one of the half billion previous week was almost three billion. So, Yeah, the mutual funds or seeing a load of cash come in. It is the same time you know, we're seeing such low yield. You know? Yes, A municipality could borrow for 30 years at about 1.4%, which has been the case for much of this year. But it's just it's uh it's almost scary. The amount of no yield. You're getting You're just gonna have to attract the red. A crowded Joe. It would be so fun to see the red A crowd in the beauty balm space. I somehow don't think we're gonna have that for interesting. Let's hear them. Kill myself. Always the fun speaking with you, Joe, my seconds columnist with Bloomberg editorial and obviously concentrating on the municipal market. He is editor of Bloomberg Briefs.
