Retailers are turning to virtual storefronts this holiday season

"Shopping is big part of the holiday season. We go downtown or to a packed mall browse the store windows smell. The chestnuts roasting in the street. The pandemic has obviously changed all this but some retailers like gap ted baker and ralph. Lauren are trying to deliver that experience to our computers. I just clicked her. A virtual tour of ralph lauren's beverly hills store at the entrance. There's an archway decorated with christmas garlands and a marble fountain with mannequins posed in front of it. I think that that this dude is supposed to be riding a horse or something and there is a saddle next to him. Yeah a saddle. Part of the ranting. I guess. I don't think that it's for sale. And i tried to click on it. But now i ended up in another somewhere else. I don't know where i am. Now let me go back. Oh god okay. I talked about the virtual storefront experience with joe toro a professor at the university of pennsylvania and author of the book. The aisles have is the thing that's weird about it. One is that there's no one else in the store and two. There's no sales people so it's essentially a store after the rest of the world has been destroyed. And when you click on a particular marker next to the goods you see the price of the goods you can actually purchase it. We've seen the companies that make these virtual stores sell themselves during the pandemic as a way to get people in store despite the lockdown Do you think brands are hoping this will drive sales or is it. Just more of a pr move well everything. They're hoping we'll drive sales. I think what it is is an attempt to use the architecture that they have. The stores are brands. The physical architecture says something about store the idea that when you walk into a ralph lauren. Store it's not macy's that's the kind of idea they want to depict find interesting. Is that retailers. Were launching these virtual storefronts even before the pandemic which to me indicates that they think people will want to use them during normal times. Why do you think. Shoppers would go to a virtual store if they could go to one in person because it's easier sometimes because people have gotten used to the idea. The habit of shopping online and because those stores wanna differentiate themselves from amazon. If you can actually walk into ralph lauren. In a way that makes you feel good about what you're doing instead of going on to amazon and just going through a regular kind of standard catalog. Maybe would find more interesting. I mean occurs to me that stores are not always accessible or comfortable for everyone. And don't forget that. If you live in new york los angeles there are stores for just about every brand and so what they're doing is reporting the expensive architecture and branding that they created for these flagship stores in big cities and allowing people all over the country and even the world to go into them. So you've written about. How retailers are remarkably good at tracking us in store figuring out our preferences what we might wanna by using cameras and smartphone apps and gps's how might the data collection process look different in virtual storefront. Well the great thing about that. From the standpoint of the retailer is they can actually follow. Your is particularly if using goggles right. They know what you're looking at. They know where you've gone it has the counterpart of walking through the store. So they can actually see. Have you passed the shoe aisle while maybe if we give you a virtual coupon you'll go back to the shoe while they're that level of lineal activity that they can follow and they can see what you're interested in which is partly possible to do of course on a regular website but in terms of the movement across the store and maybe the the trying on of things and putting them back and all that eventually you'll be able to see in this kind of world That's gonna be useful for Stores to know also where you start when you go to a website you pretty well have search for a particular good and then you put it down or you purchase it when you walk into a store. You may wonder you know. If it's a virtual store the same thing and companies will be really interested in how people wander. That's one of the major issues of creating stores organizing stores figuring out how to get people to buy things. Where do you place your goods based upon how people wonder do you think there's any additional data a retailer might be able to get if you're shopping in its virtual store rather than its in-person store will say say what you look for is one thing if the voice becomes part of it for example if they include a virtual sales people who talk to you the way customers talked to the virtual sales people could become another important piece of data what companies infer from the way you speak and even the literal voice tones that you speak with can tell them things about you. "That starts to think these guys start to think all yeah, or screw this guy just has that He has our number. Then you got a new life. It's someone else. I can get him a Mookie Betts. Oh, yeah, yeah. Let's hear from Blake Snell and being pulled from the game. I just want the ball. I felt good. I felt I did everything I could, You know, prove my case to stay out there. Um And then for us to lose, you know, it just sucks. I wanna win and I want to win the World Series and us two go so for us to lose. Yeah, I mean, is this sucks. I mean, I'm not going to question him. I mean, he's a little manager, so I'm not gonna question I want to be the guy that stays out there as long as I can. And, you know, give this team a chance to win every ball game and it sucks, You know? Be imposed. Would have been ridiculous. Last night, Connor asked Blake Snell to not give the manager the ball. Would have been ridiculous to not have him give the manager the bowling. If you just said, I'm not coming out of the game. Like If I'm Blake smell, you could come out on the mound. You're not taking this ball for me. You're gonna have to rip the baseball out of my hand. Let's see if you're going to rip the baseball out of my hand to get me out of this game. Yeah. I mean, I don't know what Kevin Cash does in a situation where your picture just says No, I'm I'm not going to give you the ball. I'm going to stay out here, and that's it. And the funny thing is, I bet if he had done that, which I doubt he would ever do. But if he had done that, maybe a teammate says Come on, Kevin. Keep a man. I think the rest of the guys around the mountain all say Yeah. You know what, Kevin? I think I agree with Blake Light just walked back to the dog. Yeah, we'll let this roll little bit. We all want him on the mound. So we agree here with Blake. I'm in a video that surface you saw it resurfaced last night might have seen on the mound. Joe Torre is about to get amigos. You stay back in that dugout if I'm Blake Snell, but we know it's not afraid to talk. We saw him on the On the twitch stream. I'd hold that baseball and say,.

S. they take a two to one series lead first time that they've had a series lead in the post season since the two thousand two and L. D. S. they did it by Mike Soroka was outstanding against Adam Wainwright bulls starters were fantastic it was one nothing all the way to the nine and then the Braves exploded and Dansby Swanson delivered in the clutch yeah it looks like that one run the Saint Louis cardinals was all that Adam Wainwright was going to need to look for a while like he was going to go out there and do a complete game shutout he needed some help Andrew Miller came in with the bases loaded Freddie Freeman he got a routine fly ball for the out you just felt like it was over I I mean that's what happens in the post season that's what great teams are all about being able to hold that lead but I go back to what Derek Jeter one time told me about Joe Torre as it was a great manager he said he only manages when he has to we didn't feel like that Mike shook needed to manage with Brian McCann coming to home plate this isn't the twenty seven year old Brian McCann they did fit the drove in eighty to ninety runs every year they put him on as the potential go ahead run in the ninth inning with two up to get to Swanson not really sure why I know fourteen is a little better I guess right in and there's a left but not that much to where you would do something like that I know you would like to have that move over again I'd like for he'd like to not have done that but I know is going to have to answer a lot of questions after the game tonight Dansby Swanson with a rocket double to tie the game and then the next batter Adam duvall who's been clutch in this series so far the late innings comes through with a two run not to drive in a pair of three one Braves lead and mark Palance in blocks down the save in the night his second consecutive and the Atlanta Braves of a two to one.

"I don't wanna think today's guests Stephen Jones, Rashad Jennings. Joe Taurean weird Al yankovic, by the way, I can't say. I can't say enough, you know. Even Jones Rashad Jennings. Joe Taurean weird Al yankovic walk into a television show. It's also on the radio and craziness ensues. I still can't get over the Joe Tory story. I mean, holy crap. He called Marianas potentially like a spare part at the top of nineteen Ninety-six when he first showed up and then he melts Donmar have a bullpen session. You think Mel comes back to Joe? Hey, joe. Yeah. Mario has got this cutter on head of his on Hannibal. Now, you know, Edgar Martinez interestingly enough in his career eleven for nineteen against Mario five seventy nine. Batting average. Best average by any player off of Rivera with at least five plate appearances. By the way, you'll say three seven against Messina and four forty four against ROY halladay who is going into the hall of fame with this guy could hit he could wear you out. That's the last guy. I wanted to see and Martinez in that nineteen ninety five game. Joe Torre referred to sing in which he first laid eyes on Mariana Rivera. He's the one who ended it. He's the one. Who ended Don Mattingly career? He's the one who hit that double in the corner. He's the one who I absolutely knew was gonna hit one off of black. Jack McDowell to bring Ken Griffey junior home from I. But the reason why maybe that he was able to hit Mariana like that. It's just like everybody is Marianas cutter made him tougher on lefties than rights because the cutter went on the hands of left handed hitter Sodom off. Okay. So right handed hitters would have a problem reaching the ball on the outer part of his own when they thought or he would sometimes spin it where it looked like it was gonna hit the right handed hitter in in the stomach and instead hit the inside part of the plate. But the lefties he was on Hannibal against lefties is a right handed power pitcher. That's part of the reason why so amazing. And so great. Do you think torii? But he's tight with bell. Check that they have some sort of banana boat like where tan. Him. It's Bella check. It's Popovich saving. They all get together, and some sort of Caribbean that outing that we're unaware of because none of them have Instagram accounts or care to actually let people know that they hang out together. There's some sort of rarified air like a four ring club or a three ring club secret. Sells is not is not parcels and not only to Johnson's three. Take mowing the ninth out or they take eight rings out for. I mean, that's what they do. You think they have that sort of like Costanza found that that club that only? Doc you. Awesome. You're mortals than show up. And nobody's there. Oof. You think that's what it is? You need your ring to get in everything comes back to Seinfeld. "Right. You bring in Rivera to close it out. I mean his name is synonymous with that now. And I'm wondering when when did you start realizing that about him with with well in that first year, obviously when you know, he pitched those seventh and eighth innings and it felt like you pitched every single day. And and you know Zimmer who is my bench coach, we looked at each other. When when you come into the game, and you know, you sorta sorry you had to take them out. Even know what Lynn did a great job for us. And so when we started ninety seven, you know, and wetland became a free agent and. In april. We were facing Oakland Yankee Stadium and he faced the same batter twice in the same game. And you know for closer. That's not a very good thing to do. So I said to him after the game, I said pal. This is yours may take your while to get used to it. But it took a little adjusting for him. But he's still wind up saving forty games. I think in you know, enough ninety seven, but he he was special right from the get-go. And it's just a remarkable story when you know Mel Stottlemyre and and he were in the bullpen. And you know, he he was you know, just warming up, and he discovered that cutter into cutter came on sewn. They weren't working anything. No kidding. And and yeah, that's how it, hey. Just what do you think of that? Let's do it again, see, and and he just had that natural cutter. And that became his lifeline. I mean my gosh. And and I'm appreciative couple minutes left with Joe Torry baseball hall of Famer that you mentioned Mel Stottlemyre is named certainly with Mike Mussina going in as well together. With Mariana Rivera. You're coming back from Mel Stottlemyre 's funeral. I wonder what Mel would have thought to hear about the news of Moby unanimous. And he goes in with Mike Mussina, Joe he would have been very very proud about that. No is a special not only special pitching coaches special person. You know, he treated guys whether you won twenty games or just pitched twenty innings like you the most important picture on our staff, and he's you know, he's going to be missed. It was a very emotional day yesterday. But he certainly would be very proud of these two guys going in his boat's name was mowing the ninth. Right. That's what David tried in the nineteen named when he retired. And yeah, Mariana. It was funny 'cause I tried to reach him yesterday and ons not surprised it went to voicemail, and I sent a text message. And then all of a sudden, they get a phone call, and he had me on speaker with his whole family, which was pretty cool. It was a great experience for me. And he was he was very very excited. Yeah. We I said to him. I said the one thing you'll you know, you're the first. Unanimous choice. There may be others. I said, but nobody will ever be the first. So it was quite an accomplishment. Also, the last guy to wear number forty two Jill to that's right. You know, last guy to win Jackie's, and where Jackie's number and he's certain Jackie would have been proud. Also, so special it really really isn't it special for for me personally, and the show to have you call in the day after like this Joe, I really appreciate it anytime. Rich haven't seen you since. We're walking down the street now lay that one day. That's right. It's been a while. So let's make sure it doesn't go this long again. I really appreciate that the chat to time in the members. Enjoy the Super Bowl that will do that. You gotta you gotta thought Joe, I know your big football. I just you know, Los Angeles. There's such an up and coming team, and they got their taste last year. But the one thing I've always admired about well. Bobby Cox for one and and Bill Belichick. Is the fact that they his teams play every single play of every single game. And it's it's so admirable for me as a sports person to to really watch. How they go about their business. Yeah. I do you have a relationship with Bill or have you met him? Do. I do. Yeah. I fact I did his charity during the playoffs up there in Boston. He's he's been a friend. You know, he's visited our spring training. And I know he's visited LaRussa spring training..

"Even though I know the way everything worked out you're saying there was a possibility of not starting jeeter in ninety six sending Rivera packing for his replacement. Is that what you're telling me Joe that was possible. That that was that's public knowledge. Yeah. Know toward the end the spring train. There was a comment from one Georgia's advisers that Marianne no, I mean that Derrick may not be ready because you know, he didn't have a particularly good spring. And I'll tell you when the season started. He did it was like somebody just flip the switch, but it got late in the spring. And I was one of the centers on that. I said, no, we've you know, we've had him here all spring, and then in this kid's shows up every day and really hasn't done. Anything wrong hasn't hit. But spring training doesn't really bother me. And you know, there was some conversation and part of the conversation was, you know, we have you know, all these relief pitches. We had wetland we had Bob Whitman. You know? And then, of course, Marianna Rivera who we didn't know was going to be a a closer. You know, we discover that ninety six when as you mentioned earlier, you know, he was the setup. Man for wetland. And so he was sort of a player that pitcher that we didn't know what his role was because you know, his options were used up. So he was obviously going to stay with the team. And there was some talk about, you know, training him for a of for mean, I think it was from Seattle, you know, and and again, I don't know how close that got to be made. I know it was talked about Joe Torry baseball hall of Famer here on the rich Eisen show. What's your favorite Mariano story when I guess you were in the crucible of a game. Or you know, that there was a big series finale coming up that you knew you had to use him or or you use them so much, and he's basically told you he was ready. Gimme gimme something that maybe leaps out to your mind here. Joe the day after getting into the hall unanimously. On the one. You know, Boston was such you know, eventually caught up with them. You you face the team nineteen times. I'm not a big fan of, you know, scheduling where you face so many so many one team so many times, and I remember we had this was a game during the season. And you know, he had come in and. You know, and and they're Protrero fouled off felt like one hundred fifty pitches. You know, he just kept following them off on what on it was a one run game. And he winds up walking Joya. And now big Papi is the next hitter. And now there's either first and second or first second and third. I think it was first and second time runs at second base vitamin ninth inning Fenway park. And I just go out to the mound. And I have no idea what I'm going to say. But I know he just really partially exhausted himself just trying to get the draw out. So I get out to the mound. Everybody comes in like you're gonna listen to some revelation from their manager. And I you know, and and all the other players are in there. And I said the mo- I said, well, I guess you'd better get this guy out left. And you know, I just wanted to give them a chance to catch his breath. You know, and I look at jeeter says, oh, he always gives me. Some kind of an expression, and you know, he had a little smirk on his face and went back to position. But that was that was the one that comes to mind for me because it it's a helpless feeling when you know, he's going to be the one you leave and then the game, and you know, he doesn't need any motivation. But I just thought I gave him a chance to catch his breath. And now his name Joe is synonymous with you know, closing something out whether it's not just baseball or sports just a life. You know, somebody goes into a meeting, you know, and you get you gotta bring in Rivera..

"Rich Atlanta dot com in my days at ESPN, I was honored to have met this individual so many different times covered his dynastic Yankees. He's now a baseball executive in baseball hall of Famer and on the day after Mariana Rivera and Mike Mussina both going to the hall of fame. But Rivera as the first unanimous selected player, we ought to have. One of one of Cooperstown. Finest on the program. Joe, Tori, how are you? Jo. I'm good rich. Thank you for that introduction. I I have to night. Now, you make me work hard. You know, what I know how to butter up the guest. But but it's it's well deserved. Your thoughts on Moby, the first unanimous selected member of the baseball hall of fame is what you well. Not surprised again. There are certain philosophies, I guess, and on on behalf of the writers that some, you know, don't feel that anybody should go in on the first ballot. And you know, and then I read something about, you know, closer only pitches one inning and. But I have to realize how important those three outs where I could say that. But you know, he he was. For as long as he pitched rich, and I know totals will show you that he really never change the kind of pitcher. He was you know, there are so many pitchers, and especially, you know, relief pitchers who've had the change their style because their stuff was diminished, but Marianne oh really never once he discovered that cutter. He just learned to do different things with it. And and he just became a little more of a complete pitcher. But it didn't surprise me really that he was unanimous because be tough for me to be the one to say, well, let me reason not to put him on, you know, the ballot. You mentioned the three outs being so important when he first started as a reliever it was really six outs. You're getting from him on average prior to wetland in seventh and eighth innings of that ninety six season. When you first got to New York is the manager. And he was a kid that had ten starts in the ninety five season. What did you see the first time? You laze you laid eyes on. Mario Rivera Joe. First time. I saw him was on TV the the year before when he pitched against Seattle in in that final game. I guess it was game five you know, where the Yankees lost game five after being up two games to none and watched him of the bullpen and extremely game. And he, you know, he looked pretty impressive. You know? Of course, then you hear the stories about, you know, surgery, and you know, we had some issues. So he was in spring training was in ninety six and, you know, I'm I'm a lifelong nationally guy and everything was new for me, and we had no options left. So we knew he was on the team there was some scuttle butt, and you know, when Geeta was scuffling all spring. You know, there was some talk about sending him to the minor leagues and making a deal for shortstop and Marianne oh was mentioned in. That you know, supposed- deal. So, you know, he was sort of excess baggage at that time, even though you knew he had had some kind of value, but who who would have dreamed that he would have, you know, be sitting there in the hall of fame at this point Joe gave me a little bit of a heart attack..

"NFL gets it wrong is if you using common sense, if you have if you have time out, you should be able to challenge this idea that we have to have this convoluted process of you get to challenges, and if you get them both plate, we give you another one. No coach is going to challenge something frivolously, and the idea that well, we don't want overburden the coaches because. Yes, that's the point the point is if it's challenge if you have a challenge McVay should have been able to challenge the face. Mask and would have got it. Right. Wherever it happened in the game. Sean Payton as well. I great, Mike. Thanks for the call. Appreciate it. Where lockstep? But you can't expand the number of challenges. Let's see how it works to plus one. And if you if if it then leads to certain egregious calls not being fixed that the safety net still has too much of a whole you stitch it up a little tighter until then yet another one. See how that works. Let's head to Chris. And South Carolina. What's up, Chris? With over it before it gets. My point broccoli mentioned earlier about Tom Brady. Posting picture of his jersey. I wonder if there was a big handprint on it from the phantom roughing the passer, call another in the grass name. Count on everybody. Chris in South Carolina. Everybody. I wanted to make was about you know, it's not as sophisticated as the reviewing all the penalties. But why not at least for the play if not all year and to digital referees to the field dry off game? The thing is is that he said, you know, I I don't know if that would work to be honest with you, Chris, I don't know if more is means better results. Certainly if you're doing something and thanks for the call, Chris great, great, Chris Chris violence, right there. I really appreciate that. That was fantastic. You know, I just don't think doing something differently mechanically is better in the playoffs. Mean Pereira broke down on Monday show. Right. The former head of NFL refs when we asked. I asked him basically, how does this happen? What do you say? It's it's what snap lines zone is what he said forget the words that he used is prior to the snap and official chooses a receiver to keep an eye on to come off the line. And then when they come off the line they go to their zone, right? And they look at their zone and whichever receiver enters their zone. Now, they they have to take a look at it that play and officiate that zone. There's no reason to lose Tommy Lewis from the line to dissolve on at all. There's no reason for your head to be on if you're going mechanically through that. But if you add another human being. In the mix or two then suddenly. Use the give it a try in the the remember they added an empire. They moved the unpire to the backfield in preseason amendment. That's what they've kept him out into the post to the middle of the field. But Ofri in the middle of the field to world. I mean, what's the problem? Right. Hey, we're going to be in Atlanta for the Super Bowl folks starting on Monday..

"In a bathroom. Everyone sounds the best when they're singing in the bathroom. Studio ever was that your first attempt was that your first was actually the first not the first one ever recorded with the first one that ever actually made it onto vinyl that guy that bathroom recording released on capitol records. It was a hit on the demento show. And then the members of the knackered it and said, hey, we should put this out, and they act that actually I realized you are the sole writer for all of your songs, and for legal and personal reasons you do not accept parody submissions or ideas from fans. However, there is one exit exception. That's Madonna true or false. Yeah. That's true. She she came up with the for for like a surgeon and suggested who friend of hers and her friend new a friend of my manager and got back to me, and I thought okay. Madonna sounds good come on. So Madonna was a fan of your work is like how about try? She's a fan, but she she's gonna get in touch with. Some emerging into like a surgeon. I gotta get in touch with weird. Al she was musing out loud and got back to me. All right. Another one Dhamma claims confused his own song American pie with your version during his recent concert performances to reform. Well, this this twisted a little bit. I don't I don't think I could be wrong by I don't think he ever actually saying my lyrics exit alie-, but he told me once that sometimes when he sings the song my lyric start to go through his head. That's amazing. That is for tastic that you're in his head. Unless you're you co wrote a New York Times crossword puzzle is that true. That is true with Eric Berlin. We wrote a AT's themed pasta, crossword puzzle. What do you mean? Well, it was cheesy movies. So it was it was a things like a fatal attraction and a few good men that kind of stuff. "Yeah, I'm living with it. Yes. Unbelievable. It really really. So when did you get your first break, what was your first break? Well, I real brick probably was getting on the doctor demento show 'cause I was just a teenager of the fourteen fifteen years old, and I sent him tapes in the mail just little cassette tapes of stuff recorded literally in my bedroom with an accordion, right horrible songs and terribly recorded. But he thought that they were quirky enough or novel enough to to give airtime to so he played him on the radio and encouraged me to send more. So the doctor demento show got started. That's amazing. And he's still he's not he's not on terrestrial radio anymore. But he still does a a weekly show online undocumented. I so who's your greatest musical influences. People that I heard on the demento show people, you know, from the forties and fifties and sixties like spike Jones and Allan Sherman. Tom lehrer? Stan Freberg people like that Sherman. Yeah. Hello phone. Yeah. I used to have Allan Sherman records. Sure. Big old, huge vinyl records that enormous. Right. I just I I always enjoy listening to his music, and and and listening to all of his comedic takes on things too. So that's that's how you begin with for a brief time. He was huge on Allan Sherman had two number one albums within like an eighteen. No, I I think three number one L eighteen month period of time. I mean, he was unbelievably big like around sixty sixty two so which Mitch musician out, we'd all an cure and the rich Eisen show, which musician that you sent up in song was the most appreciative in which one was maybe the least. Well, I mean, I I wouldn't say that anybody was not appreciative. Because I get permission ahead of time. It's not like a big surprise when I'm doing the parody. You got Michael Jackson's. You do that. Well, you know, I didn't know Michael Jackson. But in contact them the way that you do I went through my manager. And he contacted a Michael Jackson manager publicist or answer. I don't know how it works. But it got the Michael and he signed off on it. And he actually had a great sense of humor about it. And there is in fact, a contract that Michael Jackson signed that that says that he is the coal writer of eat it. He coasts. So did somebody have to play. Hey, Michael, sit down. There's a guy named we're now yankovic and he's come up with a song called eat it and somebody pressed play for him. And he sat there and listened to. I I didn't record it before. I probably I don't even know if I'd I'd probably written the lyrics at that point. Okay. But no, we we don't record unless we have permission little wise a lot of effort money wasted. Okay. And that's the way you actually got permission through my did you ever meet, Michael? I did a couple of times us great. I mean at one time I actually gave him a gold album because my album even worse, which was based on his how bad. When gold so I gave him a gold album for that. And he was very gracious another goal for the pile this over here. I mean, he's a coal rider. You'd at least you should be able to do is get them back. Collaborator. You know? Fantastic. And you got a so nobody's been unappreciative. Right. I mean, I mean, everybody's had a really great sense of humor about. Okay. That's great. And you got a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Is it true that you request your star be near two of your most favorite music icon, ROY Clark, and Barry white is that a true story. Sure that I've said that and I. And I do like Ray Clark in berry white, but it was just kind of goofed because it just happened to be. That's actually, yes. Yes. That's not too bad. And I like to think that it was Qismat was synchronicity that it was meant to be. Did you ever do? Barry white song. Did you ever do? No. But you know, the day is. Got a huge store coming up for sure. We might as well play celebrity tour fall straight out with weird Al yankovic here on the rich Eisen show. Go for. True, even at re or..

"All right hour number three, which is in show is on the air baseball hall of Famer Joe Torry manager of the dynastic Yankees. And the man who called for Mariana Rivera to come out of the pen, so many times leading to a an historic career for Rivera that led up to him being the first ever unanimous election to the baseball hall of fame that Joe Torry is gonna be calling us in the middle of this hour your phone calls. We will take them as well. The phone lines have been lit ever since we had Steven Jones at the Dallas Cowboys on our number one to discuss what the competition committee might do in the aftermath of the NFC championship game blown call. So we'll take your calls as well. But I turn to my right and have to my right somebody who had been a fan of fort quite a long time a four time Grammy award winner who's about to embark on a sixty four city North American tour the strings attached tour, featuring costumes props video wall for the first time ever a full. I did two shows at the Hollywood bowl couple years ago. And it was an amazing experience. I mean, it's you know, it's always a big deal to hear songs like white nerdy and dirty stupid live here with eighty five. Really appreciate it. That's when it really brings. Gravitas. I mean, the Hollywood bowl with full string orchestra for some kid from California as you are. I mean, that's gotta be. That's gotta be. The deal. Absolutely. Yeah. So we're gonna use an a local orchestra in every city right now of all the things that I could bring up bring this up you you did a video about a coach press conference in recent days, right, right? Which was absolutely brilliant. Where I it kind of was like a sports comedy, send up version of all the music that you've done in your career did how did you come up with this idea? I wish I could take credit for that. That was actually written for me. And they cast me in it. But it was a lot of fun to do. I got to do my grizzled coach, did you actors you pull any video of any coaches at all. Or did you? Anyone in particular? I can't say that is modeled after after anybody. I just did my basic grizzled. Angle. Fantastic. Good. It was as if you were like a hall of fame coach that actually came out there. This is absolutely genius in. I never really played many sports in high school or anything like that. Or did you ever attempt anything here? I wasn't really under. This will be a big shock to more of a nerd in high school. Okay. And I I'm pretty ignorant about sports in general. I think might be traumatic because like was the chance for people to beat up on the nerd so your kid pick last Jim what you're saying it pretty much you certainly found you're right world. And you've been fantastic about it for so very very long. How did how did you come up with weird who called you weird out for the first time that was freshman year in college? I don't know exactly what the context was. But somebody referred to me as weird, Al. And then I picked it as an air name when I went on college radio station 'cause everybody has a wacky nickname Jerry on the radio, so weird human appropriate and just kind of stop it did. Patriots To Adjust Tom Brady's Contract; Add $5M In Incentives

"Years and speaking of Jimmy Garoppolo who is now the second highest paid quarterback in football behind Kirk, cousins Tom Brady's got a new. Contract some additions on. There it's a five million dollars in incentives to go on with that fourteen million dollar based. Salary why the hell do you have to give Tom Brady incentives as this is stuff that drives me nuts about football. Visible that's. Awesome with the, cap you can Manipulated by doing by, putting. An incentives like this is ridiculous I'm, sorry I mean you've, got to figure out a way to not do this this, guy has been here almost twenty years I think. You kind of know what he's done and what he's going to continue to, do what I know but died yesterday floated the story that in practice it was shaking his arm that maybe he's not quite right hasn't looked great in training camp and maybe. By not, appearing at the voluntary OTA's it's catching up to him and practice has been kind of disjointed right two days off a day on Brady gets his birthday off so they're not up. To the, speed that they normally are but. This guy you have to give him. Incentives you're looking at like it's a slap in the face to Brady were really it's a way to manipulate the cap is not a slap, in the face of this is. A way to manipulate. The castle is so is the incentives you don't have to I I this is why I. Also think that you should almost take the quarterback salaries out of the salary cap because they're going to make so much. Money and. You have to, pay quarterbacks Get the best quarterback the Brady white sign it because I'm sure it's fine I'm just looking at it to someone that admires the guy when I. See incentives, for player like that I'm like that's what's wrong with football okay but it's a way to manipulate that's all it is yes I've heard that a couple times already you're trying to Federal case again into making a federal case because here's a guy again I remember, remember when Joe. Torre left the New York Yankees they said okay we're going to we're going to give you. A contract but we're. Going to, have some incentives in there you'll make a half a million dollars. If you win the American League east you'll, make. Another half a million if you. Win the American League and he's. Pretty, much said, damn, all, set, I've, earned, my right that. I don't need to have incentives incentives for people that aren't motivated this guy is, motivated God forbid the, patriots do something that's smart for the rest of the. Team they after just all bowed out Tom Brady whatever Tom Brady them for seventeen years Basim bow down. To them, recently well it's no no. No. No no no that's not true. You know this job. Because, of their west Welker contract and he's. Taken pay cuts Yeah so they should do, its best to the teams Except for Tom Brady and not give him things that help the cap and just give him the guaranteed money and then tied. To the cat because they realize what they should. Do they. Didn't keep his one of his favorite receivers Danny amendola he's. Bringing in, wide receivers that looked like they were. Retired I mean Eric decker looked like, he? Was retired he was hanging out with his wife right and now he's coming back and they're going to try. To see if he can make something out of himself teams that screw, themselves over are the teams that do whatever the hell the players all the, time and give them all the money that. They. Want and that don't care about is not true The Vikings done that and giving Kirk. Cousins biking's aren't aren't gonna win a championship
