"It's almost confusing because Harold Baines never got more than six percent of the writers vote. I mean, that's a resounding vote from the baseball writers. Hey, nice career. But you're not a hall of Famer. But now, you get these sixteen guys in the room who included Joe, Tori. He and Tony LaRussa, and they say no you are hall of Famer Harold Baines in. So I think fans are a little confused. She'll be following the baseball writers or this committee, and then also poor Harold Baines. Yeah. Does get a nice bit of news. But the internet was unkind to him saying, this is an outrageous and embarrassing selection. So Mike your thoughts. Yeah. I've been waiting for this for a long time. I mean, this to me gives argument to will Clark and Dave Parker. And and and Dale Murphy and Keith Hernandez. I can give you twenty guys that really have just been shut decide and they've been ignored. You talk about the six point two percent of the vote that that Baynes got he played for twenty two years. What was significant about his career and that has worked against him, by the way, he's got twenty eight hundred plus hits you played out long. You're going to get that many hits. He was an all star what he was forty seventeen years apart. He had a hundred RBI seasons. Don't that tells me he was a great player for a long time. And really, what is the hall of fame longevity has everything to do with guys getting in because allows them, you know, the the luxury and the and the good fortune to use health in mass those numbers. So this to me is a game changer. And and I it's overdue. There were sixteen guys that committee Jerry Reinsdorf who's the owner of the. Of the of the White Sox who who retired the number of herald Baynes when he was a player an active player, and he's had a statue out there. I think in at Comiskey park with beans for a long time. You know that he was championing the because and and and there were I think nine seven or nine hall of famers on that on that panel. I just think the significance of this is enormous. And now finally hope that the writers take stock of what what happened here because there's so many people out there deserving of the hall of fame that I have not got in. And I just hope that this is a an argument and for those who've said that this guy doesn't belong. I disagree. I he belongs Lee Smith. He's the third leading all time saves guy. And he was a rookie with with us in in Chicago. I love the guy, and it's been our good fortune as the giants organization to have him teaching young players, and I just think that is long overdue. So I'm thrilled with what has happened. And I just hope to step of what is to come here. This is a bold move. This is bold move that happened with this with this committee. And I applaud all sixteen of those guys who to you know, really opening up opportunity, and I hope that the writers take stock, and they and they take advantage of this ads can be interesting time. And as you point out, this is like to me this speaks to the Dale Murphy's in the wheel Clarksville where we'll see, but it is a confusing message. I think to the fans a little bit left to to sort it out. But anyway, we wanted you take Mike we got it. Good stuff by the time. We talked to you Thursday. Who knows maybe a couple more? No move to Smalls. We'll come along. So thanks for the time. Mike. "There for the transition from joe chart joe tori to joe girardi now joe girardi is not there it's the transition to erin boone can you remember what it was like to go through that kind of coaching transition at the time and you know that was the your guys did not make the playoffs then you go back and win win at all in two thousand nine after a lot of additions that you had a great season that year so just first though the coach transition would a new manager comes in what are you remember about that time nor a big they they the parallels are really really close because you can look out there in this situation both guys are too far removed complained the game by easily once they were done they stayed involved in the game in some capacity and i just stay with the guys that you have on the field that you know ceasing being able to be also another voice for the young guys and no one he's been through it and peace dan with these guys for years i think it makes it easier for boonie because at the same time this is a new aspect of his life in baseball and you know his pedigree is obviously baseball since he's been able to walk but being able to lean on somebody like that in know that they'd been there they've done that you guys with both won there to try to help resonate with these young guys and get the points across i think the biggest thing is to have that trust not only in your manager and his staff but also having trust in the guys that you has a locker room with in and try to be that one cohesive unit junk some it leads up to the guy on the mound right but we've we've spent some time this week discussing you know if you have an upgrade of the catcher and you bring in a guy that in particular as staff stands before have had a lot of faith in the way calls the.

"Yeah i mean we're already getting some people complaining or saying that this is not the kind of baseball they like so i would imagine that those complaints would be a lot louder and i really i don't know i really don't know where the point is where people actually do something about it instead of just saying they prefer a different type of baseball but actually just stop watching the sport stopped going to the games stopped by in the merchandise i'm not sure when we get to that point maybe we already have for some people but not enough to notice i don't think yet so i guess we should just do like a few emails we be we had maybe we should just save emails for tomorrow and us we we don't have a baseball came to to talk about on tomorrow show that we have not already talked about so i've got plenty emails and i have one more thing to mention which is that joe tori admitted in a phone interview on thursday that that passed ball in game five of the and out the s between the cubs in the nets was called and correctly we talked about this at the time ruling read the rules we said why we thought that this was not a judgement call in the way that the empire thought it was we read the umpires quote which said in my judgement several times and joe tori was unserious exam and he said the whole rule interpretations there's rules and then there's instructions to the empires their separate books and what jerry's feeling was that the interference didn't take precedence over the fact that the ball was already passed weaders when the contact took place however the rule states and you probably have read the rule that when contact is made in other words when the bat came round and hit the catchers mask it's a deadball it's a dead ball and that's the one thing that should have taken precedence so tori agreed with our interpretation and i think most observers interpretation at the time once we had all had time to read the rule book.
