"Them. You could do the Pats plus 700 with for their defense to score. With pats when the first half and they win the game. That would be plus 1266. So almost 13 O one odds, pats win, pats control the first half, they get a defensive touchdown. It's pretty fun one. Let's do it. Is that fun with it? Let's go. I'll mark that one down. So Philly, and I can't tell you how many times India is kicked us in the balls this year. A $1 million pick. Kansas City game. Raider game. Ryan's terrible, right? He's like, they bench him. Nobody tries to trade him. And yet he has four game winning drives. They announced that he's the quarterback after we did $1 million picks. I'm like, oh, you knew? Oh my God. Why? But anyway, I was on set on good morning football when Joe Thomas blew a fuse over the Jeff Saturday hire and then I see cower on Sunday near tears calling it a disgrace and I'm like, once I saw that and I heard Joe Thomas who I really like and I was like, oh, there's no chance they're losing this game. The second you get this like indignant, that's when they go and of course Andy's gonna win that game. In Vegas defensively, they're in the running for worst defense. So they couldn't they had no pass rush at all. They couldn't stop. This Philly team coming off a loss, which I think is actually we didn't talk about this yet. I think it's great for them. Great for them that they lost camp. Get rid of the undefeated stuff. Just worry about winning your vision. Don't worry about the shit. And they also lost the dumbest game possible. Those teams could play ten times, and I think Washington beat some Woods. So it happened the way it happened. And now they go to Indy. They have so much more talent than Indy. People go, well, they're going to run the ball with Jonathan Taylor. It's like, no, they're not. The eagles are fine. They're indoors. That their team that's, I would say a better indoor team than like an outdoor team. And right now the line is 6 and a half, and they're just dying to be teased. Just dying. Okay. We've had trouble with teasers of parleys this year, but we have goddamn we're putting them in a tease. Okay. All right, so the Saturday thing, he's want to know, obviously. I did the work. I was looking like, what's the case? So in term head coaches who have won their first game, gonna combined 11 and 19 in that second game. So they always take this giant dip. I don't think Saturday goes to an O but. Do you want to bet against them? It's kind of a fun story, dude. I actually do want to bet it gets them. Come on. The colts stop it. Check runners now out. He's playing his own way, but he's gone now. They still have buck under who I think will be able to do some stuff. It does open the door though. Say he wins a couple games, whatever. You know, you cover the NBA so well. And you guys, and you don't flinch when they're like, all right, Steve Kerr's the coach of the warriors, and you don't flinch when it's, you know, Steve Nash is gonna be the coach. Maybe that was a big surprise, but you know what I mean? Yeah. This thing and I talked to all the code that you would think they spit in their mother's eye when it was announced. The amount of outrage. I don't think it was fake outrage from coaches around the league who felt so violated and so just disrespected. I've moved my family. I got the text from guy. I moved my family 7 times in 9 years so I could see Jeff Saturday get an opportunity before me. The amount of people that would be Goldberg taking over and Eddie when she became the Knicks coach, that kind of like this is a circus. I thought that way too. I didn't really see it the connective tissue with them with that he was actually kind of consulting. And they grade in their offensive line. It was like he was finding out who the players were. He gave a good speech. They played a bad team. And it was a great story. But now they're playing the eagles. And if this line, a week ago, it would have been eagles by 12. Come on. You know what? Who's the man? Who's the player that's going to, which player do you think would be? They could NFL coach. I'm watching JJ watt and hard knocks and everyone rolls their eyes about JJ. And how he's always looking at the camera. I'm like, he's got a lot of that to him though. Like a head coach, like we could do this type of thing. I've watched JJ watt and I'm like, would some of these teams be any worse off with JJ watt leading the locker room than, you know, I don't know. That's where my head went. But yes, if you want to go eagles, syriani was the old coordinator there for three years. He knows that team inside and out. He goes back there like it helps an edge. I could go eagles with you. It was also like, I like that. He said they played like shit. Yeah. You knew it. Yeah, he was like, we sucked. Let's move on to the next one. This is a good, really good eagles team. And they got in damaging suit today. I saw that. Another good player. So I was thinking about teams to tease with them. And I landed on the nobody believes in us, Minnesota Vikings. Who are home. Getting a point and a half against Dallas. I don't understand the line at all. I thought when Sal and I had to guess the lines on Sunday, I thought it was a joke.

"Burrow ended up being a sack for Donald, but Burroughs going out of bounds. And not only did Donald push him out of bounds. He pushed him in a way where I was like, look how strong that guy is. Because most players in that play, yeah, all right, you divert his path. He goes out of bounds. He chucked him. And by the way, it was totally legal, burrows and bounds of whatever. So just because the quarterback gets tossed the sideline, somebody has to come across and kind of get in your face and talk shit with you. And that's what happened with Donald. And Donald immediately arms out like ready to go macgruber on dude's throats. And then he was pissed off and just like I've talked about with guys. Played with him. Or Joe Thomas, who played against him who was on this podcast very recently, talking specifically about Donald, who is always great on every play, but the next level that he takes it to once he's pissed off. And I think that's what happened after that play. We always say you never want to tug on Superman's cape. And that was the truest thing you could say about Aaron Donald because he was always given great effort, right? But there was an extra level of hatred that he would bring out. If you did something to him that he didn't like. So you were very careful not to block him longer than the whistle. You were very careful not to cut him out too far on the side where he would get a little upset and feel like that was a dirty play because the last thing he wanted to do was give Aaron Donald a little extra motivation to try to kill you because if you do, you will die. There is nobody on the face of the earth that Aaron Donald could not kick their ass, especially in between the tackle boxes. So burrow sacked 6 times the second half of 35 yards. We can get into Dilfer what the overload really was or wasn't on the defensive front formations that was debated a bit there. Then we come down to that last drive for Cincinnati's trying to figure out a way to tie this thing up with a field goal. Remember about a minute plus left. They still had their two timeouts. It's Joe burrow two play standout. P Ryan third and one Donald reaches out, grabs P run and prying stops moving forward. Like you could see the physics of it. Where you're like, wait, it looks like you ran into something. And Donald wasn't square up in front of him. He was to the side of him and all of a sudden just stops. And I noticed that was great. Rewind it. Donald. A running back, that strong because PR has a bigger dude. Just stop moving forward. So Donald makes a play on third one. Fourth and one, who makes the play. Aaron Donald. He finds a way he gets to the pressure he's off the ball quick. He's peaking at the right time. You know, I always say how much I love basketball because basketball, if you are that special player, you can find a way to impact the game immediately. If you're that special in your wired that way. Baseball, a lot of things, a lot of factors, football, other than the quarterback just a million factors, even sometimes the quarterback. There could be other stuff that falls apart. It's the great team sport, but it's also at times very difficult to stand out as an individual and Donald did these things from the defensive line. It's not like he's wide out the entire time it gets some completely overmatched tackle. He's moving around. They had to figure that out and they shut them down. In the second half. Burrow now sacked 19 times in the playoffs, the most of the postseason the last 20 years. No one's been sacked more than 12. This game was 20 to 13 with ten minutes to go in the third quarter Cincinnati then had four punts and then the final possession of the turnover on downs. So Cincinnati actually kind of fell apart here offensively. Now, the rams had their kind of what the hell is mcvay doing moment. Which I can't wait to talk to bill for about as well, where after the rams had a 52 yard drive for a field goal to make it 2016, they went three and out 6 yards, three and out three yards, three and out minus three yards. Now during that stretch, they had four rushing attempts for a total of two yards and then pretty much other than an acres run in that final drive that was 15 plays for 79 yards, which was the go ahead TD. They kind of just bailed on the entire thing. The cup numbers in the fourth quarter are incredible. In the playoffs, Stafford a cup 12 or 12 208 yards two touchdowns 9 first downs. The play that Cincinnati fans are going to remember forever. The Logan was some penalty for holding on third and goal at the 8 because at that point you're trying to figure out, okay, well, how are they going to play it out? They're down four. They missed the extra point. Are they going to be able to they're going to have to go for it here on fourth down? I thought that was a pretty weak call. We can get into all sorts of finger pointing of who's called for what the Ramsay face mask was terrible. You got to call that. Can't make that play if you're a corner. Yes, the fall start by the entire offensive line. But I think as far as holding calls go, that one was pretty weak. Usually if it's a Jersey grab, you're going to get ahead and get a call. I thought that one was pretty weak, but again, there's a lot of stuff out there and Cincinnati offensively did not happen. Did not have much happening on offense..

"I'm not losing one bit of sleep going into this game. Obviously, you watch him on film, but he's playing over the guard, so you don't see it all that much. I'm more focused on Robert Quinn who at the time was a really good pass rusher that I was planning. And so we go into that game and we were running power, which is like America's play, right? Away, the backside guard pulls, you got a fullback that leads through and the fullback, the backside guard, have two of the linebackers. The defense, the offensive line, gets a double team at the point of attack. And then on the back side, the center in the tackle work together, where I step down and I'll help on the defensive tackle at the time Aaron Donald until the center can snap the ball and then work back and he takes over my block on Aaron Donald the defensive tackle. And then I do a hinge, which kind of just means I open my shoulders to the defense event and then just wall them off because we're on the back side of the place. So it's not a big deal, but that's like super routine. I've been doing that since I was a freshman in college. I was 18 at Wisconsin and Madison. Never been beat on that in my entire life. It's impossible. You can't slip between me and the center. And the center was Alex Mack, who was also an opera. And Aaron Donald literally like from the ball was snapped, he got in Joel's hip pocket. And it was like a Houdini move. We're both Alex and I crashed down to try to pin him. And he got underneath us and in between us and ran into the backfield and tackled the running back almost at the same time he was getting handed the ball. And that was the moment where I was like, oh my God, this guy is not human. He is built from another planet because he just beat an all pro center and an outdoor left tackle on a double team on the most routine, easy block in the world. And at that point, I knew this dude was going to be a bad motherfucker. Yeah, and he definitely is that now. I mean, he thought he was going to try to kill that guy from Green Day this year. And apparently it was not. Did he have that nastiness, then, when he was playing with you guys, was he talking at all? Because I know when he always feels like with Donald, once you mess with him, then it's on. I don't think he's starts the game at ten with you. So from an effort level he does, but he doesn't. No, no, no. We always say you never want to tug on Superman's cape. And that was the truest thing you could say about Aaron Donald, because he was always given great effort, right? But there was an extra level of hatred that he would bring out. If you did something to him that he didn't like, so you were very careful not to block him longer than the whistle. You were very careful not to cut him on too far on the side where he would get a little upset and feel like that was a dirty play because the last thing he wanted to do was give Aaron Donald a little extra motivation to try to kill you because if you do, you will die. Like there is nobody on the face of the earth that Aaron Donald could not kick their ass, especially in between the tackle boxes. Yeah, man. You're not the first to say it. All right, as an AFC north alum, the overall Cincinnati view of what this team we talked about the old line here a little bit. We know it's burrow and chase and Zack Taylor turning this thing around. Obviously with burrow being a big reason. But you know it's odd. It's a ten and 17 that everybody kind of loves now. We know they have their problems, but how do you see it as a team? You probably played it a little more attention to. Yeah. Yeah, I'm like a closet Cincinnati Bengals bandwagon fan. And I think you're right. They've got the underdog story that everybody loves. Everybody's just so attached to Joe cool borough and the way he's playing the way he's got the ice water in his veins at the end of games and he's just finding ways to win. But then also his mentality his leadership, I think, he's just one of those natural leaders where people are drawn to him. People like him, people want to play for him. And at this point, when you get these teams into the Super Bowl that are both hot, they both have great quarterback play. It's anybody's game. I mean, you can always throw the spread out in my opinion. Because it's just going to come down to those three or four plays and typically it's made by quarterbacks, right? And when you have Joe burrow, you're feeling pretty good about being able to make those plays down the stretch, especially for him coming off of an enormous confidence boosting game against Patrick Mahomes who people were already ready to give the Super Bowl trophy too after they beat the bills. And to have that huge deficit in the beginning of the game, come all the way back and beat him like for Joe burrow as if his confidence couldn't have been any higher and his team couldn't have believed in him anymore to kind of do that, just adds to the fairytale and adds to their feeling of invincibility. I want to ask you about a few other things too and there's always the mandatory baker question probably at the end at some point here. But this Brian Flores stories huge lawsuit now against the NFL, the text message from Bill Belichick. And I wanted to kind of start this way. We know it's a huge problem. When I look at what the NBA has done with the progress that they've made with head coaching hires. And then see where the NFL is that. Anybody that's denying that this is an issue. Your head's in the sand, okay? But how did you talk about this with teammates? How did you talk about it with coordinators, black coordinators? What was the understanding of living in the world and trying to understand how this hasn't gotten better? Obviously being a white male from suburban, Wisconsin, like I don't have the same experiences that Brian Flores or any of the black coaches do. And so when situations like this would come up when I was playing or now that I'm in the media world and just listening to this story unfold, the first thing I always try to do is put myself in their shoes to try to gain empathy for their situation because I think that empathy can build and understanding. And for me, I heard the Brian Flores stuff this morning and my wife and I, we started talking about it. And I started crying because I'm thinking about the situation that he was in. First of all, it was a total bullshit that he got fired in Miami. He did a masterful job and by all accounts, the reason that he got fired was because to a tongue of violet was the quarterback instead of Justin Herbert. And last I checked they had a GM who was responsible for that role. And so to hire a defensive minded head coach to be like sort of that CEO and then to fire him after it seems like everybody on that team believed in him and he was making all the right decisions. He was as classy as they came. They finished with an incredibly hot winning streak, finding a way to win with a quarterback that maybe didn't have the upper ceiling that a lot of these guys in the NFL have. And then to get fired, I mean, it's already a BS situation. And then you hear as he's thinking to his family, like, hey guys, I'm going to get a second chance..

"Hey, can we go to Shanahan? What were your impressions of him from the very beginning? Did you say you were thrilled? You liked kind of the scheme and the blocking scheme and everything. But give me your first kind of instincts of why you think he's turned into who he's been. Yeah, well, I was really excited to play in that offense because when I was coming out as a rookie in 2007, actually, Mike Shanahan was in Denver at the time, and I was really hoping because there were some rumors that they were going to trade up to draft me. I was hoping to go there because they had a history of smaller offensive linemen. And I was, I was 310 pounds, but I was still considered kind of a smaller left tackle compared to the guys that were playing in that day and age. You know, it was Jonathan Ogden, who was 6 9, 360. It was Willie roe, who was three 50. It was these guys that were really huge. And so I was a little bit undersized, so I had to use athleticism. And I loved the way they used smaller guys and they let them run and they won with technique and scheme and they set up these huge chunk plays in the play action. And I'd never played in that system after not being drafted by Denver and going to Cleveland. So I was on one hand just excited to play in sort of the last remaining offensive system that I haven't played in at that point because I've been going through so many offensive coordinators and head coaches. But also I had had friends that had played for him in Washington when Kyle was the offensive coordinator for his dad, Mike. And they talked about how much I would love this system. How friendly it is to offensive Wyman, how you're able to be the aggressor because of their wide zone schemes that they run and how they don't put you in bad positions with a lot of dropback pass, how you get these chunk plays off of the play action. It makes it so hard on a defense because they're so busy running sideways the sideways. A lot of times they're not able to read their keys quite as quickly. So when Kyle came to Cleveland and we started learning the scheme, it was everything. It was advertised, but what really impressed me about Kyle was the way he had this unbelievable emotional intelligence to be able to read his players and to in a totally non phony way at all completely genuine to make you feel like you were going into that game and there was no way you were going to lose because you were going to have a game plan that was far superior to the other team. And he was going to pump you up individually and show you plays during the week Thursdays, Friday, Saturday morning of you succeeding from the weeks before doing the things that he's going to ask you to do on Sunday and he was the best of all time at pumping you up and building your confidence going into the game on Sunday. I know that those of us can kind of like just lump them all together and be like, all right, well, the Shanahan things, the thing that started it and Kyle, but then McVeigh and they worked together on the floor and all the kind of stuff. Can you tell the difference I'm sure you can. But how would you say conceptually, philosophy, how different McVeigh is sensation Shanahan when you watch? Yeah, so it's really interesting because what I love about Kyle is this is the system that kind of his dad created by taking the West Coast passing game with the outside zone running game that really people add in their playbook, but they weren't doing it the way he was doing it with running as fast as they possibly can, trying to reach trying to actually make those outside zones go outside and allowing the cutback or the cut up to sort of happen naturally. They were one of the first teams that were really doing a lot of blocking on the backside to get guys to fall and creating these huge gashes on the interior of a defense. And it's fun to watch Kyle because as the person who's kind of created that offense, even though he's been a coordinator for a long time, he's constantly evolving it because it's his baby. Whereas when you get a coordinator that learn and offense from somebody else, and then they take that playbook somewhere else. That playbook gets stale after a while because they're not evolving the playbook the way the originator of the offense does. So a lot of times what you see is like, hey, if Shanahan disciple or McVeigh disciple or an Andy Reid disciple leaves and goes somewhere else, it's pretty good in the year one. It's okay in year two, but they're not progressing at the same way that the offense naturally would have had they stayed with the creator of the offense. So I say that because with mcvay, watching him and Kyle, they're actually, I'm sure using a lot of the same terminology in the same concepts, but it's totally different offenses because with mcvay, he never plays with the fullback. It doesn't even have one on the roster. He's playing with three wide receivers. It's much more of a passing oriented offense, and they do run the football and they run the outside zones and stuff. But it's not the way that Kyle runs it whereas Kyle's focus is I'm going to open up big gashes in the passing game by running the football and making people so afraid of what we're doing physically running the ball inside and outside that it opens up huge windows and the play action passing. So he plays with a fullback. He gets his big left tackle offensive line in motion. He's coming with all these creative concepts and focusing most of his game plan and most of his practice week on coming up with great running concepts that maybe look a little bit different to the defense that he feels like they have a schematic advantage. Whereas with mcvay, it's much more passing oriented. It's much more of like the West Coast pass first type mentality and it'll be interesting just to see like with mcvay if he tries to tweak anything now that this is the second time around in the Super Bowl where he kind of got burned the first time because with this long two week stretch, you have a lot of time to really focus in and come up with a very specific game plan to stop the team you're going to go against. Belichick famously did it last time the rams were in the Super Bowl. And I'm curious what wrinkles McVeigh comes out with that he hasn't shown to try to stay one step ahead in that Super Bowl. Mcvay was really down on himself after that lost in New England. And it's one of the few super bowls of all my Friends that still cover the team or whatever. And I was like, what's the vibe around the team? Or like I've never seen him just confident going into a Super Bowl because they were like, they know exactly what LA is going to do. They're pretty one dimensional, golf, not much of a threat. And oddly enough, the game still had a moment where it may have been in doubt, even though it felt like New England was disappearing. I think that probably is haunted McVeigh for certain time that if he loses this one, it's not going to be by being as predictable as they were in that first one, right? Yeah. Yeah, and that's a great point. That's what I was alluding to like, he's not going to make those same mistakes. He's very analytical. He's got this amazing rainman memory. And he's not going to go in and be unprepared, and that's why I think you're going to see a lot of different tweaks with this offense and a lot of new concepts that maybe look the same. So he's giving the defense the same read that they've practiced against for two weeks. But then he's going to try to take advantage of some type of arbitrage or some type of leverage mistake that they can use with shifts and motions to be able to find big windows in the passing game because a lot of times it's those three or four explosive plays that make the difference, especially in those big games like the Super Bowl..

"I think the beginning, the idea was to force the issue by getting people in front of the decision makers that maybe would normally have that chance, which in itself is fucked up. Like, oh, now I have to interview so I will, oh, look at this. Now we have a better candidate. And we've never would have tried this before. So even though I think if it's okay if you'll allow me to suggest that the beginning, the rule was trying to fix a problem, the execution of it and what it really, the definition of it is pretty fucked up. And now the execution of the entire thing is actually more insulting to any black candidate than not interviewing him. That's why the lines I remember back when marucci, they were like, we'll just take the fine and punishment because we're not going to do that to somebody that doesn't have a chance because Matt Miller was going to hire mariucci. That was it. And they were really fine. We'll take the critics, we'll take her. That is actually a former honest way of doing business. So something that started with good intentions has been exposed as demeaning insulting and honestly, you know, waste of time. I know the counter to this would be, but what about the times of the really rule gave somebody an opportunity to interview and then okay, but the whole point is why can't you think I just get the interview in the first place? If it was good enough to become your head coach because of the Rooney rule, then maybe you're doing a bad job of evaluating who you should hire or who your potential candidate should be in the first place. So this story is going to be massive. And I clearly don't know which way it's going to go. This is the kind of thing where corporate types don't like this stuff. So floras may have really really put his own career in jeopardy and for a young guy that a lot of people still think deserve a job and never should have lost his in the first place. He's doing something here that's very different. And I would just hate if him doing something trying to right or wrong turns into him never getting a gig again. We're going to talk to Joe Thomas about this more. Joe Thomas and a film network and more importantly, all pro tackle. Do you have other plaques for that around the house? Because you have a lot of them. I have one trophy, I think that I have that's related to being an offensive lineman. It's right over here. It's my outland trophy from college being the outstanding interior lineman and that's it. I don't think they give you anything for all pro other than the pat on the back and you get to buy yourself a steak dinner to congratulate, but that's about it. I don't think they have official plaques. Maybe they should start doing that. That'd be kind of all pros of big deal though. Obviously you're Hall of Famer, but when you make all pro and you make it a bunch, like I think Brady has 6. And then you go, how the hell did he only have 6? You go, well, look, you know, some guys have statistical seasons that are nuts. He's going up against hate Manning in the same conference in the entire time. What do you have? Do you have 6 or 7? I think I have 6 first teams in a couple second teams, but you're exactly right. Pro Bowl, they're name in three tackles in the AFC, three in the NFC with all pro, especially now because they changed the voting a few years ago. The end of my career where they were voting two tackles first team, but now they vote a left and a right tackle. So you literally have to be the best left tackle in the game to be first team all pro these days. Yeah, because that's exactly my point with all pro. Is that we'll have arguments about different quarterbacks. You'll be like, well, it was all pro and I'm like so are 16 guys once everybody gets done. But we had Vince Young when you're in the Pro Bowl and he was like the tenth alternate. Like literally all you have to do is be in the top half of the NFL at quarterback and with all the people that back out because Brady never played in a lot of times, the other good quarterbacks were playing in the Super Bowl or they were kind of getting ready to take a little break and go golfing in some of those celebrity golf outings. So you're ending up with like the tenth or 12th best quarterback in the AFC at that time in the Pro Bowl. So not quite as amazing as when you make the all protein. That's for sure. All right, cool, but we did the resume. That was a better resume intro than I planned on here. Offensive line, I've always maybe I've always spoiled and I think I've talked to you about this before seeing Dante up close when I live in Boston and just knowing that whenever they had issues or you didn't think they had enough talent, they were always able to kind of fix it. That's something I always thought you could at least adjust some things. The quarterback also has to be aligned with you to be like, hey, we need help from you back there to let us hold up if we're overmatched. We've seen Cincinnati over match so many different times. It was ugly against Tennessee. It was better against Kansas City. Where are you, this isn't even about the teams of the matchup yet, but where are you philosophically like heading into the tunnel at halftime knowing you're having a hard time up front, maybe not you so much and how that can be fixed. Yeah, I mean, it's tough because you talked about as an offensive line, your performance is not just the 5 of you. It's the scheme that you're running. Like when Kyle Shanahan came to the browns, I was really excited because I'd watched this scheme and he puts his offensive line in positions to succeed..

"I want to start with some good news, and that's gonna be the Phoenix Suns. We're gonna start with some bad news, and that's a sprinkler story. We're gonna have Joe Thomas on it as well. And then we'll do life advice at the end. As always, all right, first off, let's do the Phoenix sun story. Because this doesn't feel like we're treating them like a 41 and 19. That's where the Phoenix Suns are. 50 games in their 41 and 9. What actually puts them only three games up on Golden State. I'll touch on this a little bit later in the open, but I think it's very predictable. We already kind of know who Phoenix is, even though it's still only a year into this, NBA Finals first year of Chris Paul and this group. And here they are destroying everybody. And I don't know, I guess are we holding out hope that it's a wide open field because they haven't won before, like if they had one last year were able to hold off Milwaukee would we all be saying it's Phoenix in one tier by itself and then everybody else, we probably would be. We'll get to some of the rules and why that kind of happens. But let's look at the resume a little bit. Okay, remember they started one in three. And I remember watching the first week and I go, this doesn't look very good. This is the one and done kind of fluky thing. Does this mean Chris Paul's getting old? No, it doesn't mean any of those things, because from that point on, they've gone 40 and 6. They had won 11 in a row. They had an 18 game winning streak. They went from one and three to 19 and three at that point. Their clutch numbers are incredible and that's really telling because look at last night's game against Brooklyn. And by the way, with Brooklyn, like they fought, they hung. I guess hardens hurt a little bit. Kyrie was kind of going superhero there for a little while. It got to 95, 92. They brought Chris Paul back in. And it was like, all right, yeah, actually, this game is over. Sorry. Sorry for thinking you guys had a chance because that's what they do. As I've talked about deciding who the real stars are, who the real guys are, not the guys who score in 20 a game. It's those last 5 minutes of a playoff game. That's when we decide, that's when we judge you and we get the best indicator of who you really are when it's everything is just kind of up to you. In the regular season, when you're seeing a bad team kind of hanging around with a good team, those last four or 5 minutes is when those teams decide, okay, enough of this. And that's what Chris Paul does for your basketball team. Their clutch numbers are 20 and three in clutch games. They shoot 60% in the clutch area, right? 5 minutes or less, score within 5 points. So Phoenix shoots 60%. The number two team in clutch shooting or the clippers at 52%, every other team is under 50%. Shots get harder, right? Maybe hold on a whistle a little bit longer. Not for Phoenix. 60%. You want to use the pacers or last. They shoot 36%. That's absurd. Let's look at the individuals. Booker who, my only knock on him was that as much as I love him and I do, I felt like he gets talked about like he's one of these absolute elite shooters and he is in certain areas but not necessarily from three because he was between 32 and 35% in the previous three seasons. He's at 38%. He's 25, 5 and four. He can handle the basketball. What he needs to because of the times pre Chris Paul where they're basically having to be this kind of combo guard. And he's terrific. He's terrific. And the shooting numbers are up, as well for him. The no all star part, which they were discussing last night in the broadcast, which is always kind of funny. He's like, hey, not to take anything away from the stars. No, no, the next thing is you are going to say is going to take away from the guys who were the starters. I had a vote this year, by the way. The east was pretty easy. The front court back court split wasn't the greatest. Like I was trying to find a way to go outside of Trae Young, who was my starter, along with the Rosen. I was like if I can put the Rosen in the front court because he's kind of a small forward. He really is. Is there any way I can then get another guard on there? And at first I was taking Darius Garland. And then I was like, you know, the winds are close enough with Charlotte only a few wins behind at the time I voted. And I go, you know, I might have to go lamelo over Darius, but I was trying to figure out how to get one of those guys on. But once Derozan stayed in the backcourt, I had to go Derozan and then I felt like Durant injury was new enough that it was still important that he was voted as a starter and then embiid who's literally he'd be the MVP in a landslide right now for more for jokic. Then on the west side, I'll admit, all right, the backcourt pretty simple Steph jaw. And I went into it going, I'm not gonna vote for Gobert. Right? And it's jokic is LeBron, but the way the frontcourt backcourt thing is split up. I was like, oh, you're voting for Gobert. You have to. And then Wiggins is a starter. Wiggins had a nice season. He should not be a starter in the All-Star Game. He just should. And if we were really looking at this the right way, that's probably Booker spot. Because of this record, then having the one seat and I don't think there's one of us that would rather have Wiggins over Booker. Congrats on your turnaround in your career. So that part is a little frustrating. Paul doesn't have the numbers, although he's steady. Okay, once again, by the way, Chris Paul has played in all 50 games at 36 years old. And remember with OKC when I told you guys that story about what he came into the thunder and he talked to Billy Donovan and Billy Donovan was like, look, we're going to protect you. We're going to figure out a way to do this. We're going to limit your minutes. We're going to give you rest. We're going to do all this stuff..

"Going to make the NBA, LeBron is hanging on to have that moment with his son. And so Bill looking forward to the rest of this season, what do you think has to happen for the Lakers to get things back on track and potentially compete for a championship? Do they need to make some trades? So they need to change their system and do you think LeBron will be able to once again through sheer force of will steer them to the promised land? So I do expect them to be aggressive on the trade market. They have relatively few options. They only have a couple of contracts that really have any meaningful value, tailor Horton Tucker, as long as $10 million deal, Kendrick nun who hasn't played yet. It's on $5 million deal that gives them some heft to work with in trades. The question is, what does that get you? The Lakers need perimeter defense. They need to be younger, and I understand there may be some irony in them trading two of their youngest players to get younger, but they need starter caliber talent that is going to make them a little bit more dynamic. The question is how much they can actually get done, it's a fascinating question of whether the Lakers would consider trading rusts based on what they've seen from him so far, you'd have to think that it would be on the table, but with $47 million owed to him next year, it's really hard to identify a team that would be willing to take him on. So the Lakers would love to get better. The question just is, how much better are they going to be able to get? That is the thing with any LeBron James team is you never count them out because LeBron, as he has shown, is still capable of being the best player in the world. And certainly the best player on any court. So the Lakers can't look at their 500 start and say that this season can't end in the championship because any season with LeBron James can. That i stayed on. Cbs and i watch sixty minutes because it was sixty minutes dedicated to the The heroics the heroism of nine eleven with these firefighters in interviews with people who were there in charge the roles that they've played and extremely powerful. And if you get an opportunity a lot of times when we move on from something we're sort of numb to it. I was in new york this weekend. And i couldn't help but notice as i'm driving into new york and i went to a concert that was on pier seventeen and it had to do with nine eleven celebrating the heroics. There are a lot of firefighters were there and the weather was eerily similar to that day. Twenty years ago. Beautiful sunny day. And i couldn't help but think as i'm driving in around the time that the first tower hit and it just dawned on me. That was one of those days that you know it was just a beautiful day new york city but but to be in and to be walking around new york city and all these fire houses there are a lot of tributes there a lot of people who were bringing flowers there it was just a wonderful remembrance reminder of you know the loss of lives and it's tough to watch now and as i've said before Two brothers who were their new york city firefighters. They got in late and they were there for months cleaning up debris and they don't talk about it what they saw because they're they're seeing parts of people but they don't talk about it. Just i think out of respect for the dead. They just don't talk about it. I remember that they would go to funerals. Firefighters just go to funerals for people who had died and that the number of firefighters who came into new york city from all all over the country. And they're just they knew that that's their job and they're going to be there and just to hear some of these men who talk about they're going in they know what's up there. They know there's people up there they have to go get them and they know they might not come back down.

"Trying to make plays with his feet when you have that. College coach successful coach goes into the nfl urban meyer. What's the what's the wrong things for that college coach to do once against two an nfl locker room. The one wrong thing. I think we're seeing a lot of the wrong things. A lot of the difficulties from urban. Honestly i think the hardest thing for urban meyer is that he had no. Nfl experience and so the hardest thing then is hiring your staff and there were some whispers coming out this week already. That there was a lot of friction between the guys that he brought in from college that he was comfortable with that. He had a relationship with but he wasn't going to have to teach every single thing that he wanted to those guys and the guys that he brought in that had the nfl experience because it is a different culture in the nfl and college. There is a lot of different concepts and schemes. And how you want to run your practice. How you need to treat your players like a little bit more. Like professionals like men to get the most out of them and so i think the learning curve is already really steep when you're a coach that's met most of the time in college and you make that transition to the pro game. We've seen it so many times but it's even worse when you have no nfl experience because typically you're putting together a staff that has half the guys that are like your guys and then half the guys that are nfl guys that you don't really know that have been recommended for you that you've hired Without really having any relationship with and there's gonna be a lot of friction there there's going to be friction between the guys that were college coaches. That are trying to coach. The nfl players like they're still in college where it's more about trying to motivate them in a lot of different ways to get them to play hard whereas in the nfl out of those guys are self motivated and they're motivated by money. They're motivated by feeding their family. That are motivated because it could get cut at any moment. And so. I think it's a lot more about teaching at the nfl. Game and versus in colleges about motivating and developing and just teaching the values in the fundamentals of football artwork toughness bid on time. That doesn't really flies much in the nfl. You can see joe thomas. Nfl networks nfl. Game day kickoff. Thursday at six eastern ahead of the giants washington game on thursday night football. Do you think ron rivera brings cam newton. That's a great question. I i didn't hear what the injury situation to the big beard. Man is i. I know you heard his hip. But i'm not sure how long he's out. I still like fitzpatrick with that team. That defense is so good. I thought i'd keep played pretty well yesterday. at this point it's difficult to bring a quarterback have them learning entire offense and get on the same page with your pass catchers in less. You're going to bring in cameron. Say use your legs. We want you to scramble. Kinda change. You offense a little bit words more. Rpo type stuff quarterback power. Doing some of the things that he did new england. Then maybe you think about it. But i think if they're going to keep the same offense and continue to just try to throw the football then. I don't think it's a great fit good to talk to us always joe. We'll be watching on thursday night. Thank abutting awesome. Thanks dan that's joe thomas. Nfl network analyst former browns all pro offensive tackle and will end up in kenton in the hall of fame. Let's go around the room. Best in worse to the weekend. I'll start with fritzy todd. Yes all the way through teenagers to handle themselves like that very impressed. Thank you todd mclovin. He still doesn't know you're making fun. Now i know he does it. Play it along. i know what you're doing. Yeah my best is going to be elijah mitchell junior the third rookie running back san francisco. Proving anybody can run. Kyle chad offense went for over one hundred yards. My worst is going to be. What everybody's talking about conor mcgregor. Greg tries to fight machine gun kelly. At the vm. As last night because machine gun kelly would not give him an autograph apparently going. I'm sensing some sort of jake. Paul logan paul fight but it was the big weight with machine-gun kelly's not fighting anybody well conor mcgregor called him out said. Let's go because i guess. He asked me. She could kelly who i think. Maybe his son is a fan of or something for an autograph machine. Galley shot him down. Conor mcgregor through a drink at him and went beserk or perhaps a whole thing is set up. Something's going on there. No no machine gun. Kelly weighs less than his girlfriend. Megan fox i mean. How much did they kinda mcgregor ways. Mcgregor's a professional fighter. I mean machine gun. Kelly built like a corn stalk yes. Yeah he's he's like six four one twenty. He's as thin as a rail. And then plus it's kind of hard to be like all right. You guys wanna fistfight when the machine gun. Kelly's got like crystals glued all over his face wearing a stunning amount of makeup. And you're like yeah right. What's fight then. I guess. I guess machine gun kelly. Whose an artist by his musician case. You're not aware of machine gun kelly. And he's Goes out with the actress. Megan fox but i guess his security people were a little overly aggressive. With conor mcgregor. Conor mcgregor is walking around with a cane. He just hadn't surgery of month ago and doesn't he goes from zero to one hundred. Couldn't there be somewhere in between where you just go. Hey would love to get a picture and then the security guy pushes union like easy. I just want to get a picture with him. Not because i got a tag tarry up. I'd that's pretty good. Easy easy come on down. I get tired of conor mcgregor. His immediate reaction is throw drink. Yeah wow tough guy you through a drink at a guy. One hundred and twenty pounds. And he's there with his girlfriend and he's got glitter on. Wow wow tough guy. Just get. I get bored by conor mcgregor agai. I understood the whole you know whatever that world was when he was successful and you know. He hasn't been any good for a while he does stupid things. Do you have an an anything else. You've got seton o'connor best and worst my worst of the weekend and it's just punishing. It was absolutely crushing. Like watching my own son get benched. Brooke party iowa state. Not that your boy. That was just not the day. It's your boy. That was my guy that was my guy. He's still is.

"Had that moment but unfortunately the mark jackson was a little bit. Better down the stretch And they were. They weren't able to win the game so you don't really think of baker having that signature moment but he's still such a young quarterback if he continues to play the way he did yesterday the rest of the season. He's gonna get plenty of those moments in this season right now. He's ready for what was more disappointing for the fan. Bases the bills. Losing at home to the steelers or the packers. Losing the way they lost to the saints in florida the packers. Obviously because everybody's talking about the last dance for the packers. Aaron rodgers davante adams like this is their moment. They're going to win the super bowl. Expectations are sky high and to be able to go and just completely occurred against a team. That really how so many questions going into this game you know. How are they gonna replace. Drew brees. how are they going to be able to focus on this game with the hurricane displacing so many of them and their family playing the game at jacksonville and then coming out and stomping all over the packers really in a defensive effort. I know james madison had five touchdown passes but it was a defense that completely stifled the packers and turned aaron rodgers into a common looking quarterback. That was really impressive. A lot of credit has to go to sean payton and the job he done with getting that team. Ready focusing through all the distractions and making jameis winston from turnover to a touchdown machine but also there does the defense uc start out ahead of offenses in in your opinion. And what you experience when you played. Yeah they do because they don't have as many things to learn. They don't have as many things to install. It's much more instinctual As far as just learning how to go out and tackle and run and hit like there's a lot of plays on defense. Don't get me wrong but offense is so much more about detail. Communication installing new plays reacting to what the defense is doing you so typically development wise. The defense is way ahead. But when you have a guy like aaron rodgers who's been around forever and they've been in this offense now several years under matlock floor I don't think that necessarily is true. In this case they should have been able to come out and they should have been firing on all cylinders. It's not like this is the first time that they've played in this offense at. It's like this is aaron rodgers fifth or sixth year in the nfl. I mean he's seen everything that's out there. He's got an experienced offense. There's no excuse to have a clunker like they did on. Sunday is chandler jones. a hall of famer. I don't think he has hall of fame credentials yet like the retired tomorrow but certainly the way you play the game on sunday. He's got hall of fame talent and he's building that hall of fame resume to all pro to be a pro bowl or you can do that in one season to be all. You gotta do that over nearly almost a decade of football and so he's got one hundred and two sacks you certainly there's the number right right that's a big number but without the longevity i think he becomes one of those guys that talk about but i don't think gets in at this point but certainly he's right. There are a few more seasons. He's been having. And i think he definitely can be all famer. Which the most you gave up and again. I don't think i've ever given up a sack. Quarterbacks no i remember there was a game where i gave up two sacks like sort of the middle part of my career against the falcons and i was really frustrated by it. But you know as an offensive lineman were always telling ourselves well you know. The quarterback was in the wrong spot yelled on the ball too long and so that really wasn't my fault. Yeah they're going to give me the credit. Take the credit. Yeah it was my fault but you always gotta talk your way out of it like a high school kid. I was late for curfew. But you know hit a cat on the way home and said to find the owner of the cat. And then you know you. Always make those excuses at your. Did you ever yell at getting mad at a quarterback because he might have cost you a sack because he held onto the ball too long or didn't step up in the pocket. Yes i yelled in my head and typically instead of yelling at him directly. Because i know that's kind of unproductive what i would do is. I just wouldn't help him up like you know. Usually if if you see the quarterback down it's alignments culture. Go right over. Help your ball carrier up. Help your quarterback up especially if you gave up the sack like wait. What was the name of that quarterback. i can't remember. I can't even remember all the quarterbacks that i played with that started with me. But i played with a lot of quarterbacks. we're back. There's a lot of quarterbacks back there. But i definitely instead of helping them up. I would just turn my head and walk right back to the that was his way of knowing that i was very displeased with what he did. I play game surprised you the most yesterday. The packers right because living in wisconsin. I mean everybody had high expectations. That was what the conversations about the entire offseason out. This was their last chance. And we're gonna win the super bowl eh. rogers was super. He finally kinda got a little bit what he wants. So he's a little bit more happy but maybe what we want from an air. Garages pissed off aaron rodgers. Maybe that's what he needs to get the best out of himself in the best out of his teammates because of what we saw very rogers was not what i recognized as an aaron rodgers performance when you have a rookie quarterback What's that like for the offensive lineman of knowing what your job is or. How does that job change when you have a rookie quarterback but makes your job a lot harder because like i mentioned. I don't think i've ever given up a sack because the quarterback was in the wrong spot on every single one of those acts. But that's the issue with a rookie quarterback and we saw it a little bit with. Trevor lawrence's we can read. They're either not in the right spot because dropped you deep. Their footwork wasn't right Or they're holding onto the ball too long they're not going through the russians the right way and so you deal with all those things. That's rookies got so much on that play. The quarterback position has the most to learn out of any position in the nfl by far. And it's so much of it as decision making getting the football on time and so a lot of times when they're thinking about what's the coverage doing. What's the pressure do. I need to change the protection. They forget about some of the little details that okay. Maybe i'm supposed to take five steps in not seven. If i hit my my seven step. I need to step up and i need to hitch up because otherwise i'm going to be standing at ten and a half yards and the line is blocking for a spot nine yards. And so as alignments the worst feeling the world where your guy turns and runs upfield and you turn and you feel like you're running by all of a sudden out of the corner my left. I can see the quarterback standing. Not where he's supposed to be. And i'm like oh crap i gotta turn the jets on to try to push this past but at that point. It's already too late so it's part of dealing with a rookie. Young quarterback is dealing with those moments. Where he didn't do it. He was supposed to but sort of the cost of doing business with the rookie. If you're blocking ben rothlisberger or you're blocking for somebody who has some mobility like the difference in you know because buffalo didn't get to ben rothlisberger yesterday and he not moving not running out running anybody the different philosophy that you have when you have somebody who has some elusive moves there as opposed to a stationary. Yeah when you have a quarterback. That's elusive like a russell. Wilson josh on guys. Patrick moms you can't have that internal clock where okay i know the balls supposed to be thrown i gotta turn and run and chase the football and try to get downfield. In case there's a fumble or case need appeal the vile. What you're doing much more now. Is your reacting to whatever your defensive player is doing. It's a little bit like when you're playing defensive back in maine coverage and you're following your guy. You're watching his eyes because you can't see the football you can't see what's going on behind you. Same thing as an offensive tackle. I'm watching that deepens event. And i'm queuing off. His is as soon as is go this way. Boom i gotta chase him. Because there's a good chance that all of a sudden russell wilson as extended the play and he's run out of pocket. And i gotta do whatever i can by hooker by crook to get my head in front of this guy and get one last shove to be able to give russell that half a second. Any needs to go hit tyler. Lockett down the field for that big place. So it's much different than you. Gotta ben rothlisberger. You've got those older quarterbacks who are much more. this is where i'm going to be. They're going to be right where they're supposed to be. And once your guy turns and runs down field you know the balls has been delivered. It's not like ben's scrambling.

My opinion worst of the weekend could have been the buckeyes would be the browns. But the browns game rodney harrison. Their db gets thrown out of the game. Early sideline incident not even fight. He's walking away from the play one of the case. Kc players gives them a bumpy. Gets a little off balance. They said he stepped on the guy from kansas city. Still on the ground. Casey coach gives them a show. He shoves back backing. They originally called a penalty kansas city. Now they review this so it's not like they missed something and they throw harrison out of the game. How the correct call. What point does that. Yeah i probably would have thrown both coach and player out. Didn't like it bad. Look the coach will probably be fine this week. He should not make contact with a player. He was trying to protect his player. Who was on the ground and harrison. I hate when these players step over a player after you made a tackle and you step over them man. I would go straight up. And whatever i hit. I would have no problem with that. You're going to step over like okay. I'm going humiliate you. I'm going to step over you. I'd go up and i would I'd go for the the twig in the barriers yesterday. Yes yeah the cheese. Poll question has to do with the most disappointing loss bills. Packers titans falcons vikings to me to Two-horse race or two racehorse or to horseracing. It's bills and the packers. I guess i mean the bills lost at home to the steelers. Packers got embarrassed on the road at a neutral site against the saints. The packers are gonna win this because of how embarrassing. They play the bills playing a playoff caliber. Team in pittsburgh man. The hype is so big around buffalo. I don't know if you look at any of these losses and go. You know what that is really concerning. That's going to continue the titans getting blown out at home against the cardinals that was surprising to me. Now maybe i've overrated the titans. But i do like them a lot. Packers losing not surprised how they loss very surprise the bills losing at home. I'm not. I'm not shocked by that but sometimes it's how you lose that that stands out. You know the cleveland browns they. They had that game they they should have won that game. But then you have just a couple of mistakes. They're a botched punt the patriots. They had that game. All you gotta do hold onto the football. You're in field goal range. You're going to win this but we're gonna look back and you know these teams that are eight and you know you need to go nine eight to make the playoffs and you're gonna look back to some of these games early in the season. We tend to add more emphasis later in the season. We forget about games like this where you go. All that's right. They lost that game to that team in week. Two but what we saw with the packers given all the drama and the off season this was supposed to be. Here's aaron rodgers again now. He's motivated the motivational tour. Did not go get off to a good start. The titans got embarrassed. The falcons how they lost to the eagles. But we don't have. High hopes for the falcons vikings losing to the bengals. I'm not surprised at that. Don't know if there's any other teams in their mclovin. The texans beating the jags the way they beat them. Yeah why we switch. The most surprising wins on the positive sense. Okay that is it the texans. Yeah but it might be the same thing that the saints blew out the packers or that. The steelers beat buffalo in buffalo. I i think texans might give everybody around in this poll. Yeah paul cardinals handling the titans. Titans usually are in every game. That's a i. i don't know what the line is. I'm guessing the titans were favored. Yeah they have to be. Yeah but the cardinals handled them know and and chandler jones had five sacks. I think he forced a couple of fumbles in there as well. I mean that's his dominating of performance as we've seen in a long time and this guy is not happy with his contract and i didn't think he wanted to stay in arizona. He has over one hundred. He's got one hundred and two sacks in one hundred twenty five career regular season games. Chandler jones has one hundred and two six thirty five in his first four seasons in new england. Now sixty six in five years in arizona. Boy that's a lot and five yesterday. He forced two fumbles. He had three sacks in the first quarter. Yes he did. You see taylor lewan. Thank thanks for exposing me. I need to be better. Yeah five sack day. He posted that. Hey i'm i'm glad i got my butt kicked and it'll just motivate me. Yeah shouldn't even prepare for channel jones a week ago. It's not like this guy snuck up on me challenge. Pretty good ballplayer. You just said it. That's why when map floors said. Hey they were more motivated than us. What if i'm tailing the one. I don't post that because there's a lot of people out there who probably didn't see the titans cardinals game and now i am looking at yes. Mclovin chandler joe's like hall of fame. I don't know it's it's tricky when we look at these sack numbers now now. You're adding an extra game. The proliferation of of passing in the nfl more opportunities to get sacked. Imagine if you got fifteen to eighteen sacks when the quarterback was throwing about fifteen times a game and you had players who had hall of fame careers but now you're throwing fifty times and again. Just you know the the opportunity of of sax to pass attempts. It's pretty incredible with some of these players but chandler jones. Like if you get to one twenty five. I don't know what the number is anymore. But i always thought if you've got to one hundred that you probably going to be a hall of famer. I don't think chandler jones a hall of famer but you're going to get up to numbers that people can't ignore what you did glove but he never gets any attention shadow his brother john jones eminem. And we'd never talk if we had him on I dunno todd. We had chairman jones on might have had him on once. But definitely maybe maybe one time we've had his brother on it a great start with the The patriots but then he got some off field trouble and then the patriots decided to move on from him. Boo rehash it because he was not convicted of anything. But he's got he's got five seasons with eleven plus tax and he's gonna. I'm sure he's gonna cruise pass at this. Your jason taylor. "Sounded pretty cool and inspiring. Like, Hey, I'm just doing this Dorky little intermittent fast for 16 hours and wonderful and great once 1 72 minutes without a doughnut. Is that Count it for him? Yeah, that's a great day. Okay, but yeah. When Joe Thomas was talking about it, he was talking about the health benefits the detoxing kick starting your metabolism. All of those things. Honestly, will we get all that if we go 24 hours without eating? I mean, um I really gonna flush toxins and change my metabolism. And are there real legitimate benefits to that? Yeah, that sounds like some kind of a pain in the ass. It will be both. It will be a pain and it will be very beneficial And that's kind of the point of it right is everyone would What if it was easy, And I think it sounds easy on paper 24 hours. No food, no big deal. I don't think it sounds. His heart is running a marathon, but I don't see it Sounds real easy either. No, I think the hardest part for us will be And we've talked about this before. Is that When most people are sleeping through the hard part of the fast were already awake because the alarms go off it for in the morning, and we're here at five in the morning, and so instead of sleeping through that you're just living through that. All right? So let me ask you this. What? How do we define fast As an example As an example? You know my routine I haven't shared with clones, but well, number one. I'm smashing. Nitro cold brew over the shrooms in the morning. Does that change? Yeah, it does. Because we found out it off. All right. And I go I just can't We found out the nitro Cold brew has 10 calories in it, and the mushrooms have some calories as well. The point of the fastest zero calories. For however long you're doing is they're not two or three calories in a cup of black coffee, because if you tell me I can't have black coffee for 24 hours. I'll tell you Go to hell. Black coffee, tea and water are approved while fasting so you can hit those beverages while you're doing it. You could also chew on ice chips, too. If that does something for you, it doesn't Okay, so our fast our proposed fast which I'm for sure doing starts tonight at six PM, and we'll go through Thursday at 6 P.m.. I have invited you along, and that would be great. I also invited James Kelly, who said no, but he could easily do a 48 hour one if you wanted to, because he used to fast for three days at a time while he wrestled in high school. James Kelly. The James Kelly, who on Fridays would leave this studio and smashed six Del tacos. He says he can easily do 48 hours because he used to do 72 as a high school wrestler so he could easily do 40 able wants nothing to do with our 24 destructive 6 p.m.. That is correct, but we can I start it. Seven. Is that too started six. If you started seven, then obviously you got to go to seven on Thursday. So what's our last supper? Ah, I don't know yet. I haven't got that far. Okay. Um, I think I accept I think I'm down. Is that definitive enough? All right, so we'll let you know. Hey, you'll know. All right. Bye. I was Was almost like I'd been on a boat and I was seasick. And it was where you just want to lie down. And that the room spins I saw stars. It was a horrible experience. But the other one that I had. I didn't know that I had it. And then I realized that I did. And then you start to have some symptoms. They're I don't know of Patrick Mahomes has a concussion. But you have to go through that process there And then just the prepare itto real work for the Buffalo Bills is really key. I know they played them already. And it is Patrick Mahomes. But just Getting ready for the Buffalo bills in the whole process, and these are creatures of habit. I do this on Monday. I do this on Wednesday, Thursday. I do this. He might not be able to do that. That's also something to factor in. Yeah, pulling you know what Joe Thomas off the tackle was talking about yesterday was kind of even more scary. He was talking about nerve damage, and when you get hit a nerve, some of your body parts don't move normally for the next few minutes or a few seconds. And to me, I think I think most performed football players have had a bunch of concussions, light ones Things, Belle wrongs, but that nerve thing where you put your foot down, and it's not stable. That's gonna be really scared. What did he call them like a dead foot or Mikey? Yeah. You needed help off the field, and it was just a nerve. It wasn't a concussion. How Docket is Revolutionizing Meetings Through a Product-Led Model
"Why did you start docket. Like what was the kind of story enter in the company and has your growth been surprisingly accelerated due to the year. We've had so yes to the second question. But i i have been in indianapolis. My entire career been technology mind tire career. I've been a junior developer at an early stage startup of ten people. I've been mid-level manager at a high growth company exact target and i've been a c. Level executive of publicly traded company in the one consistent thing through all those experiences no matter the company culture or the position i was in it felt like to high percentage of the meetings. I was in felt like a waste of time right. Just felt like they were often covering the same conversations the same topics over and over again and so As i started looking around for what. I really wanted to do from a career perspective. I really wanted to build a company. I've built lots of products built. Let's teams And i really wanted to focus all my energy investment into starting something from the ground up and this just seemed like with the technology we have in place today in with these before. Covid the slow move to video conferencing and this was a prime time to really bring the technology to the forefront in a collaborative way and really make this problem. Go away for for the average user so we started that and we saw immediately you meetings or something that people have an almost visceral reaction to when you talk about them and so it's a universal problem and we saw that immediately when we put your just simple website a little bit of of social of campaigns to drive awareness and it was immediate people were attracted to the solution started signing up starting using it and then when the pandemic hit obviously you had this huge focus on the need to find these collaboration tools. These tools now suddenly every conversation. You're having is a meeting right to make sure that you're being as productive inefficient as you can. Because it's very obvious on on a remote setting if you're wasting people's time and much more so than in local setting in fact so we've seen that huge ramp up and that lift and we early on identified zoom as a strategic partner for us. We wanted to make sure that we were in lockstep with what their road roadmap wasn't what they were doing. And that's paid huge dividends for us. Yeah i really wanted to get into. Because i think at marketplace is going to spawn simply the successful companies coming back to a couple of things on docket. You mentioned. I think you had fifteen thousand users and you mentioned kind of product lead so looked of dive into how you got your first kind of thighs and customers and then just get into how you the founder strategically thought about your go to market from the outset in how you thought about product lead so i kind of dive into customers or users High did you get from zero to like five customers or your fifteen thousand users in such a short amount of time for productivity growth company the user acquisition just has to be incredibly cost efficient right so we started out even before we had a website we started generating content that we would host on the website around just meeting management topics that focused around have productive meetings different types of meetings. That type of thing so seo is our kind of long term play. They're just generate content generate Organic users to the site and that's been working very well for us another aspect of what. We're we do. Obviously is meetings are naturally collaborative in nature so if one person finds dockets signs up starts using it for their team meetings. The other people in the meeting notice that the meetings of ran much better. There are artifacts out of docket agendas. Recaps that are branded docket. That are sent to people and they naturally click start signing up and start using it themselves so we have a very high percentage of of users that come through that viral aspect of the product Outside of that we did start playing with social ads in social campaigns. Just to see if we could drive interest and that was immediate it was. It's very easy to track people to this solution. Because the problem is almost universal. I think it was one of the finest bloom talked about the fact that they would if they had to create another company they would never create a company that didn't have inherent virality the the product like. They've they've learned the lesson that if the product itself is inherently viral things become a lot easier thing what. What's actually hard is not growth. It's monetization into a couple of things that that i was reading. Great tweet from david stocks just by sas companies and that also companies should try to think about teams and versus users. And this is like a good Thought exercise here and just hearing how you think about it because meetings could be a individual user tool and you could upgrade based on number of meetings. I actually don't know what your price is finite or you could try go for like large teams in large companies. How do you think about that as a user team till we Initially focused on the end. User your individual pain and our roadmap in our overall growth strategy is moved from individual team to business enterprise right. I mean just have have the natural growth that you're going to see from adoption of of the product itself lead into the roadmap and support large larger organizations. And so with that the way we've built docket as there's limitation on the number of meeting participants there's no limitation on the number meaning. You can have in the free version. It's use it as you can as best as you can to get more and more people onto the application and then we have a features in the first paid tier which is really for the small teams to help drive that conversion into that paid tear. You get more value out of it as you begin. Use it in team aspect you get some more consistency around the usage of the product and then the outcomes of your meetings are more productive overall Drives natural adoption. What are the interesting things that i love to get your thoughts nece. 'cause you're innocent under space I'm sure always trying to figure out your price packaging. So we had joe thomas. He is the co founder of loom. That was some time ago. Actually when they were earlier stage and they actually were going at a similar path. 'cause we were early. Adopters dot used loom at spread within a company. And it was they were basically trying to get as many individual used products as possible many users and they were then trying to upgrade your team based features recently at they switched the price and to monetize of the core value which is just anyone who's creating a video you can get five minutes or you have to upgrade to get any amount of minutes and so it seems like you're kind of going on the path. They initially went down. Which is like the is the core value for me actually immediate and then you wanna try to price team based kind of features and did you ever think about what kind of business it would be. Just kinda monetize the core value which is the need for the user. Absolutely it is one of those that we're still very early stage and we plan to rate quite a bit on pricing and packaging to learn. Because you you have hypothesis is you start out. But you really don't know We're seeing Good conversion rates On the paid tier as is but there is a large opportunity to to experiment with that especially as we move especially from a small teams into the large organizations where we now have organizations that have hundred seats four hundred seats. "Longer in ST Pete. No way. Herb wants to show that spotlight which river Lawrence? The last thing that egomaniac needs is some rookie to steal the show. They say they have the best draft in the entire NFL. You surprised to hear that. Certainly not the first year we took it to the limit. And I was in Miami when my new beach house Well, it was a couple minutes from the beach. It's been 20 years. Since then. We haven't been too strong. In the last few years. We've been strong. We're just playing by the rules. You can't have a newcomer. Come in. And steal the show. I got a question wise, irate talking about somebody stealing the show. All right, so nothing we do around here is by accident. When the bills in the Browns each go, and they win a playoff game in the same season for the first time in NFL history, you're damn straight. I'm gonna go from a buffalo legend to a C. Town legend episode. 1 57 of the General Podcast was with Steve Tasker last week. Tasker was awesome Episode 1 58 is what Joe Thomas this week. Joe Thomas 10 time Pro Bowler, eight time all Pro A. Brown's Ring of honor member Record holder for longest streak of consecutive snaps played. Even though he's a future Hall of Famer. You played on some pretty bad Brown's teams, right? And they had a hell of a lot of trouble with the Steelers while he was there, So naturally, my God was hyped to see his old squad finally get over on the black and yellow personally enjoyed it because I feel that the house of horrors for me it's been like that for the Browns for a long time. I think it's been 17 years since Ah Brown's team is on in behind field and Won a game there, so to be able to really get over that hump was enormous, was so much fun to be able to watch that team that's really coming into their own doctors stretch and to be able to kind of get your first playoff and seems like you mentioned that was 10 years old against your biggest rival down the street and get over all these Monsters that have been spooking you for so many decades. It was really special. That was really fun to watch. You get held a kick out of a guy a great great player like that. Getting such a kick out of watching his former team doing what they're doing right now. I mean, not hating on them at all. He loves it loves it. You heard him say it behind Field was a house of horrors for him, And it was They never won a single game there in Joe Thomas his entire career, so he loved what he saw, Probably more than anybody who wasn't actually playing in that game Sunday night. I also asked what he thought about Juju running his mouth before the game. And Joe told me that probably it was less about motivating the Browns and Maura about putting more pressure on the Steelers themselves. When you go out and you disrespect your opponent, the wages you did and basically say there's still the team that thinks that we've been kicking their butts for the last two decades, you can go out and back it up. But now that puts additional pressure on the rest of the guys on your team, and they were a little bit tighter going into that game because they were feeling that additional pressure that Jude you put on them that they were definitely feeling because it's something that the head coach is going to address throughout the week when he hears those comments, and it becomes a team and it becomes a distraction for the Steelers, and I think it really showed up, especially early on in that game. You saw those guys. Ah, lot of those guys making uncharacteristic mistakes with all those turnovers with the first snap of the game going over Big Ben's head, so to me, it really showed up big time, especially in the beginning that game. That's interesting, so it didn't work. Damage to Pittsburgh. Gonna help Cleveland and then joined. I spent quite a bit of time on the current Brown's team. But I did want to ask him about a story that I heard from back when he was playing a story about how Peyton Manning Was with the Broncos, and he was trying to engineer a trade for Joe Thomas to get him to join him in Denver. Here was Peyton's plan for making that happen. So his plan was for me to go into the general manager's office and drop my trout on leave a little thing out of deaths, or, you mean take a crap on his desk. That little thing crap because He called me up and the Broncos. They were trying to trade for me. The Browns were not really interested, and basically what it came to is the Browns and the Broncos told Peyton Hey, I know you need a left tackle. But the only way he's coming to Cleveland as if there's Needs to be some big issue and in Cleveland cause there are going to trade their left tackle. So that's when he calls me up and says, You know, you need to force your way out. And here's the best way to do it. Game plan. So thankfully, for my dignity and for Ray Farmers desk, I didn't put that stuff. Thankfully, for my dignity and Ray farmers desk freaking pinky wanting Joe Thomas to treat the G M's desk like a Rex in the A. B Q. Streets appear one decorative vase that's wild and disgusting. Luckily, I never came.

Arizona teacher strike: Union boss warns walkout could be 'long haul'
"So if you remember how it went. Read for read said, we wanna raise the governor said, you know, what you're right. So he went to the legislature, president of the Senate speaker house and said can we get this done? And they said, you know, what we can get it done. We're gonna get them the twenty percent they've asked for over three years. We're going to do it. So the governor came back a couple of days later and said you're going to get the raise. Well, Joe Thomas who had taken over the movement by then who is the head of the unions in Arizona week as they are. And Noah carve, Ellis, the self socialist and guiding Derrick Harris was no longer here. Rebecca Garelli on these red. Fred people said, we don't believe you, Mr. governor, Mr. MRs legislators, we don't believe you. So we're going to walk out of school anyway, and they did seventy thousand people strong. And a lot of you don't know this, and I can't drive this home enough. The legislature worked on a budget that over a three year period gives teachers at twenty percent raise half of it in year one. And they were working on passing this budget until the wee hours of the morning. Do you know that leadership of red? Fred Joe Thomas, Noah, Carvalhas, Derrick Harris, all of them with their friends and in the democratic caucus in both the house and the Senate tried to kill that budget. Do you know that they want a governor Ducey gone so badly that they tried to kill the twenty percent raises for the teachers? So they could say it never happened. Like, they said it wasn't going to. And I will I will respectfully cast out the invitation one more time Joe Thomas. Derrick Harris has gone Joe Thomas miss corral. Noah Corvallis, any of the leaders of Red Front, even the new one J Budo any of you out there if I'm lying about this. Please call me out send me an Email. I will read your E mail verbatim on the air. You tried to kill the budget. You tried to stop the raises from going through to the wee hours of the morning. And when the Republicans passed it anyway, Joe Thomas ran to a podium and congratulated the teachers in attendance saying that it wasn't the dirtbag legislature or the dirtbag governor that got it done. It was the teachers in attendance that got this done. Did he tell those teachers in attendance that he was working behind the scenes to try to kill the budget? Did they do that? They didn't they didn't. Well, one of their five demands was no new tax cuts. Now, why in the world at teacher organization as long as they're getting the increases they asked for give a damn about tax cuts shows, you why this political I'm bringing all of this up because tomorrow is the day. Day. Tomorrow is debate in the legislature on a couple of tax cut measures. And they have been red. Fred has been imploring teachers to leave school. Take the day off sign up to speak in the legislative sessions in the committees. So that their two minutes can be heard and they can show their protest. Now, how many teachers are going to do this? I don't know. But if I were you, and I had a student or a grand son or daughter in the valley schools. I would be asking the administration my kid's classrooms going to double in size because teachers are taking the day off. Are you calling in a a more than usual amount of substitute teachers because teachers are taking the day off? If they can question you if they can come after you and ask you why you're taking your child out of school to excuse an absence. You certainly can do it for a teacher. Why are you taking the day off? Well, that's your business. Well, I tried saying that about my students when I was taking my student out of school. And I said, it's none of your business. Why I'm taking my kid out? And you made me explainer was an unexcused absence. I'm not trying to set up a war between teachers, and parents, I'm saying that the teachers and parents should be working together and red Fred claims, they're all about the students. Well, if you're walking out of school to go to a committee hearing in the legislature, you're ignoring the children. Now, your argument is going to be long term. It's better for the children. Well, that's what you have lobbyists for you pay. Joe you pay Joe a lot of money. He makes a lot of money to lobby on your behalf. Let him go to the legislature and state your case, you're gonna take schooltime off really. And how about May Day. Why don't some of you start asking your kids what they know about red? Fred what their teachers are saying about red. Fred, why don't you start asking in your school if the principal and the administration is going to give excused absences to teachers on may first or May Day to walk out in. Solidarity with teachers across the country. Maybe if I were you I'd try to find that out. Contractually? They're not allowed to do that. If they do they are in violation of the verbiage of their contract and could lose their jobs. I am in favour of teacher raises fair teacher compensation. I admire the job that teachers do across the board. Even if you're in support of red, Fred if you're a good teacher. Thank you for the great job you do. But if you're walking off the job for political reasons, you are ignoring the very students you claim to be fighting for and we haven't even gotten into and probably don't have time to get into the strong arm bully tactics behind the scenes because tomorrow is Wednesday. Tomorrow's the day that all teachers are supposed to wear red. And if you're one of the teachers that dare not wear red man, they write your name down. You're not a team player. You're not with us. You're against us. It's like being in high school all over again. It's the breakfast club all over again. That's what red Red's turned into. That's what they've become. I've dared them. I've challenged come on the show. Call me a liar proved me, I'm lying. I'll admit I'm wrong if I'm wrong. They haven't said word one they've gone underground. They have tried to. Hide from me. They've tried to hide from you. If they're so great if they're on the side of

"Exactly like you're in you're in a great spot because you're trading only three spots down and you know and that's about two and three will be quarterbacks that's why it could be very attractive for them all right chris canty stick around coming up are the cowboys fallen behind the rest of the nfc talk about that next on earth one would think would have taken one look at the eagles success and immediately jumped star starters their off season moves but dallas is acquired just one new player through free agency joe thomas and unfortunately he's the guy who had five tackles for the packers last year not the all time great left tackle meanwhile the eagles are still adding stars on defense and the giants added a star left tackle to go along with the number two pick so chris have the cowboys done enough to stay close in the nfc east village the dallas cowboys are doing what they came they franchise demarcus lawrence to keep him from walking away in free agency and they were up against a cat so they didn't have a whole heck of a lot of options in terms of supplementing the roster this interest in allen hers they met with him yesterday after us cut by the jacksonville jaguars and not to mention they still got a dress that zak borden contract this off season they're going to have to make him a top of the market offense of god i mean you saw what ads nor will from the jacksonville jaguars and free agency zack martin is going to be the highest paid.
