The Murder Case of Yvonne Layne: Searching for the Star Witnesses

"At this point. I've been in touch with david thorne for nearly two years. David has been in prison for twenty two years for allegedly murdering his ex girlfriend yvonne lane on march thirty first nineteen ninety nine since then david has adamantly proclaimed his innocence and the bizarre murder case and conviction has been featured on multiple news tv e programs and so for the past two years. I have been consumed like dwayne poelman. Warned would happen and so i decided to finally enlist the help of professional private investigators. John harden danny wexler and jason baldwin from the west memphis three and his organization proclaimed justice so back on the ground in ohio. We continued our search for chris. Campbell remember john. And danny thought rose and chris were the most key people in this entire investigation chris and his girlfriend rose. Were the star witnesses at trial. Twenty-three-year-old rose an twenty one year old. Chris both testified at trial. They said they saw joe at the carnation mall around closing. They said he told them he was in town for a job and they said that job was to kill a girl. The card joe allegedly wrote his phone number on for. Chris was presented at trial to prove that joe was there with them the native the murder and at this point. We don't really question that they were all there together but what happened while they were there is what we wonder about by trial three months after the murder some details of what they remembered changed from what they'd set in their initial statements and then a bit more change between those statements. The time they took the stand six months after that rose initially said joe was in white pants and a white track jacket by trial. The pants were black. Rose also said that. The knife that joe showed them was definitely not a pocket knife. She said it was an eight inch knife in a sheath by trial it was a pocket knife. We tried to find rose on our first trip because we had many questions about her statement. We wanted to know why it changed and also about something. She told police in her tape statement. Because i'm scared for my life. Because chris campbell for me if i said anything he met me. And that's why i've been scared. His oliver nagai as race. People do things when they're scared. Like sometimes people lie and we wondered. was it possible. She lied

"Ability but the confusing thing to me is we have been anticipating that the giants want to run not just more man coverage but a lot more man coverage they fell into the trap and it was largely because of isaac yada being on the field for them that they ran a lot of zone coverages and once team's figured out that even though they were rotating their zones and the coverage they showed it's the snap wasn't the coverage they were actually playing but it was still going to be zone cover. They just started. Running zone beater browde concepts end. They started having a lot of success through the air and josh jackson was best as a cover. Three cover four zone basically zone coverage across the board cornerback. So i'm not sure how this how he really fits in what. At least we think the giants defense needs to do and also you look at the physical profiles of these guys. There's really not much of a difference. I can't speak to these guys. Their play styles are are going to be differing but just looking at their physical profiles. They're also their experience in the league. Both came from the same draft class. Both are around six foot. Josh jackson six foot is again. I'm six foot one slightly longer. Arms for isaac. Yatom who's got thirty. Two inch and josh jackson is thirty one inch. They're both relatively the same weight. So i just again find this a bit odd i am. I missing something here. Like is is one guy going to be better at playing in man coverage than the other. I just i think that this was merely as you said. Both teams weren't really satisfied with guys that were potentially on the roster bubble that they might cut and they went and wanted to maybe make a swap and see if different skill sets could work in different scenarios. I don't even know if y'all gonna stick around with the packers but here in this situation. I can't even really speak to the likelihood that josh jackson mixed this roster because if you just look at all the guys that he is fighting against just even crack the rotation. He's got a lot of people ahead of. It is going to be an uphill battle for josh jackson to find his way. On the field for the giants. Yeah he really does and honestly if he gets onto the field does that. Just lock the team back into playing a pretty predictable of defense which you got them in trouble last year. That once team's figured out what their defense was actually doing that kind of is what knocked them out of the playoffs. You know the if the giants had been able to run a more very defense they might have beaten the cardinals or they might have beaten the browns and that would have put them over the top. Now there is one possibility of back. When i wrote a scouting report up. I said that for the giants and this was four. James bechers scheme but bet. Your scheme is very similar to kirby smart team scheme in alabama. And we know patrick. Graham scheme is similar to what alabama runs so. This could still hold true. And at the time i thought jackson could transition to safety for the giants you know. He doesn't have the best speed. I think he ran a four five six but he does have good ball skills. He does have good hands so it may be if you play him deeper. Maybe he could compete for a free safety role where the giants are still pretty deep. But not as deep as they are corner and that could maybe hide some of his deficiencies and baby allow them to emphasize some of the strengths. More but personally. I haven't really heard anything about that. And just taking a quick glance at how he'll fit into the rotation possibly he's going to be a backup outside corner you have to consider darnay. Homes is probably going to be starting in the slot because in robinson has been hurt and then once aaron robinson gets back and he's healthy he is going to be competing with darnay homes for snap. So you've got two guys already solidified at the slot you know that. They're both going to be working in in various ways. We don't know for sure how they're going to be utilized in who's going to get the most amount of snaps. That's something that we've talked about throughout the preseason and also in the off season that were excited to see because we think that they're both very talented then we obviously know. James bradberry and adore. Jackson are going to be starting at both outside corner. Spots josh jackson is probably going to be one of their backups. I don't know if that's a lock or a guarantee. But there's not really anyone else on this roster that i would really slot over him regardless it's just a straight up spy swap of corners for a guy that is going to be the third outside corner the next available outside corner on this roster coming up we are going to talk about the roster cuts that were made waves of made specific players before we do. So we're.

"Next preseason matchup which will be against the cleveland browns before we get to that though. We obviously need to cover all these moves. There's a lot of stuff going on for the giants and teams crossed the league. The first move that popped up. This week was a trade for cornerback. Kion crossing a seventh round pick was dealt to bring in crofton primarily special teamer and this move was a bit interesting and odd to me for a number of reasons. Chris because the giants as we've talked about a lot are probably deepest at corner right now or you could say defensive. Line but one of the deepest positions is cornerback is their secondary. They've spent draft capital over multiple years at the corner position. They also signed dory jackson. They also have some guys that are improve it type situations so then bringing in cross in was a little bit odd to me because it doesn't really fit what they need right now. They don't really need to be making trades to add depth at corner you would think you would be at offensive line or some other positions that appear to be weak. Yeah i have to assume. Crossing was acquired for his special teams ability. He was drafted by the new england patriots. Back in twenty eighteen. He knows joe. Judge joe. judge knows him. He's primarily ben a special teamer since he's been in the league. He has played on on the defense. Some i believe specifically with texans. I don't know that he got onto gowns field on defense with the patriots now. He's kind of an undersized guy. I think he's about five eight five nine one eighty one eighty five ish in that in that range so if he gets on the field it will probably be in the slot but he his. He's going to be competing for a job as a special teams player. I kind of have to guests at this point that it was the injury to tj brunson. That really motivated the giants to go out and get another special teams guy because brunton yes. He caused the fumble in the game against the jets but his value was going to be on special teams. So i really think that crossing is He should have an st next to his name with a bull slash db. 'cause he's going to be a special teams player i you that's really the the primary emphasis here and part of the reason why i'm saying it was the bit odd of a decision. The giants don't really need a corner and they also we're going to get to the other move. That happened this week that even solidifies where cross and fits into the picture of this roster. This is really a special teams depth. Move i don't even know if he's a lock or guaranteed to make the roster just because they traded he seventh round pick for him. There is a level of familiarity there with him previously being under joe judge when they were with when he was with the patriots. But you know this guy that works hard on special teams. That is going to bust his butt. You lose. tj brunson. Who was likely going to fight for a roster spot as a special teamer two different physical body types that you're going to get with these two different guys put still. This is really really mostly just a special teams move in the other moves that they made i guess is more of a cornerback based move. I can't even really fully. I can't even fully really figure out what they're doing with with some of these decisions in these trades. They made this week. And the other one that i'm referencing. Chris is the swap that they made for isaac. Yana sending is got him to the packers and then going and getting former second round. Pick josh jackson now jackson during his draft year. Some thought he was the number one corner in his class. That doesn't end up being how he slotted in selected alexander ends of going before him to the packers. We know how good alexander is. Josh jackson has never lived up to that hype. And here we are with an underwhelming corner swapped for an underwhelming corner this one more than the cross in trade confuses me as well because again. They've got quality depth. They're not perfect but they're going and getting a guy who's been pretty underwhelming in his career. Thus far i would also argue with crossing. I don't think this is a guy that's guaranteed to make the roster yada was on the bubble and is a guy who potentially wasn't going to stick around and we're bringing in another guy who is on the bubble in his potentially not going to stick around. Yeah this one to me. Is the confusing bit. Yeah i see back in two thousand eighteen. Why teams would or could fall in love with josh jackson. He had a ton of production that year or that previous year at iowa. He had great ball production. He had some of the best hand of any corner in his draft class in. He's a former wide receiver. And i noted in a scouting report. He plays the ball in the air like a wide receiver. The promise he just never really translated it to the nfl. You started ten games as a rookie. He was o k basically. He was a rookie corner without a whole hell of a lot of experience at cornerback and then he just regressed badly. High started two games over the next two years. He played in twenty six. And just even this year is basically kind of a widely anticipated among packers writers. Packers fans that jackson was going to be gone after the first preseason game. He struggled that badly. So i don't know if this was a case where the giants. They had fond memories of jackson from that draft class. You know they. They really liked him. He was high on their board end. They found out about the opportunity to acquire him so they had a corner. They probably weren't going to keep around. The packers had a corner. They weren't really gonna keep around so they just made the trade straight up at maybe trying to thinking they can get something out of him. You know maybe they can unlock that.

"Chris the first two names that the rams lost during the free agent period are not necessarily big star names however they are underrated key. Contributors who are now playing for different franchises. i'm referring to michael. Brokers who has been a robin to aaron donald and has been productive in that secondary role on the defensive line as well as samson obuke edge. Rusher who not necessarily a high productive sack guy. But somebody who gets to the quarterback who can pressure opposing quarterbacks and you lose him your only real notable player in that group that i can really point to is leonard. Floyd who's a good pass rusher very very good pass rusher but you lose anybody like samson that is going to be regression on your roster so those two guys underrated players losing. Both of them is going to hurt this rams roster yeah and i would say probably michael brokers in particular with aaron donald on the roster. You don't have to worry too too much about your pass. Rush a aaron. Donald is just built different from everyone else. He's he gets double teamed more than anyone else in the league mid even more than any two players in the league put together and he still has a ridiculously high win rate pressure rate. He racks of sack is just absolutely disruptive your brokers he is really good at holding the point of attack. He can't be disruptive. Behind the line of scrimmage. I think that is a big reason why they went in drafted bobby brown just to have that physical presence that that guy who can clog up the interior next aaron donald while he does his thing in the backfield the interesting loss. I think will be the defensive coordinator brandon staley just because they've got jalen ramsey. They've got aaron donald. So they're going to have guys on defense who offense is absolutely need to be aware of who really can scare offenses. But it's the other nine guys on the field. How how do they play What will the scheme look like Will they be able to get all the same matchups get put in the right positions. The way staley was able to do so your brandon. Staley is one of the most underrated defensive coordinators. And i don't know if his name was really being brought up enough until he took that chargers head coaching job. There's a ton of people out there including myself who think that the chargers this year are going to have a huge season. Now that staley is going to be taking over brandon. Staley is a very very good defensive coordinator and you can point to. Yes the success of that defense in reason why they were so successful being because they have to elite players at their position and jalen ramsey and aaron donald but i also point to the man who was maneuvering and pulling the strings behind the scenes. That made them so dominant now. I don't know if that's something that you can just easily transition out of any time that you lose a coordinator of eight top ranked unit. It is always going to be tough to replace that. I am not saying it is going to be a massive drop off but frankly there is going to be some bumps early in the season. It's going to take time to get things rolling with a new guy at the helm. Yeah absolutely like just imagine what the giants defense would look like. If a patrick graham took a head coaching job your we just don't know how ready the next guy up is to step in and continue what was built by that really good previous coordinator Granted the rams went from wade phillips to staley. And yeah. that's pretty good. So maybe sean mcveigh's is good at identifying ability and talent potential in his assistance as he is in designing offense. But we don't know for sure. And that i think is something it's going to have to people are going to have to be aware of when forecasting the rams. Yeah and we've seen success from this. Coaching tree under mcveigh. Now it's not always been consistent. And there's a reason why so many people hunt down these coordinators or even positional coaches like Like zack taylor. Who's the bengals head coach. You know there's a reason why people come after these guys and alex rollins from just a quick search is supposed to be the next guy stepping up. Hopefully he can take things over for the rams for the giants sakes sake when they play him in week. Six they're still struggling to figure some stuff out. But i'm sure that it'll be a somewhat seamless transition but there are definitely going to be some struggles in the first half of the year before they they really can figure themselves out and chris the last regression that is so notable that has to be talked about is the loss of running back cam anchor acres tore his achilles during the off season while training completely done for the year. We all know that that is an injury that is so hard to recover from one hundred percent and he was expected. Many believed would be dominant running back in the nfl for a team. That has run the ball so successfully in drafted him to be the successor in the replacement of todd gurley and he really started to come on towards the end of last year they lose acres. They also lost malcolm brown during the offseason who was essentially his secondary punch. Now they do. Have daryl henderson who has shown us some glimpses of what he is capable of. But i look at the rest of this group. After henderson xavier jones raymond colinas and then jake funk are the next names at that running back spot so there might be some troubles running the football with no camakers. Yes certainly an. You'd never want to hear about injuries at all. But especially when kaiser working out inbetween mini camp and training camp yet. They're working hard to come into camp in shape and up their game and it just sucks to seen injury like this especially something like a torn achilles which is a. It's a career changing injury especially for a position like running back where you.

"Starting to age and are we. Are we curious as if this team is really built to be sustainable and long-term they do have some interesting names. Exact bonds going to get some more time who. We talked up very highly as a talented player. Mario davis has always been a quality guy. And i just. I think that. I do think that that pete warner edition is going to be a really really good piece. The other moves that they made their first. Three picks are spent on defensive players to which really see much playing time in twenty twenty one not really emphasizing much offensively and. They probably could've used a little bit of help at receiver for whoever's gonna be starting quarterback. I almost think chris. Maybe they're kicking the can down the road and just getting ready for twenty twenty two and just seeing what the current roster can do and twenty twenty one with limited resources and a hamster cap situation just looking at the rest of their division. That's probably not a terrible strategy. Long-term right now. I don't think anybody in the nfc south is going to really be touching the tampa bay buccaneers. We don't know how long the buccaneers are going to be able to stay at the level. They're at right now. But somehow they managed to defy the recent history of the. Nfl defy the attrition. that normally hit any team. That wins the super bowl and they they managed to keep everybody keep their coaching staff intact. Keep their super bowl roster intact and right now. I'm not sure anybody in the nfc. South is really going to be touching them so the saints are probably well served by looking to see what they've got. Now try to get their salary cap back in a manageable position and look towards the future. If they can't develop a long term quarterback out of one of these young guys they have a see if they can't build a core of new defense going forward build a strong core on offense going forward and really just bide their time until they can be in a good position to take a shot at that division crown. Again i'm an agreement grooming with you there on that wanna. It doesn't seem like they were able to do a whole lot. This offseason which is going to make things super super difficult for them to be as competitive as they were previously in the nfc south coming up. We're going to discuss regressions for this roster but before we do so we're going to take a short commercial break get ready for stats on your baseball stats. With first of its kind. "New york giants scheduled for twenty twenty one offseason how they improved how they might have regressed and then also pitching what we think is the best and worst case scenario for these specific teams in twenty twenty one. A better way to help you. Folks understand what to expect when the giants face them during the season today. We're going to get into the giants week. Four opponent the new orleans saints and this team looks a lot different after losing drew brees and some other notable players on their roster before we get to that though folks hit the subscribe button is a five star review and had to big blue dot com for more giants news and analysis. So chris we were just taking some time to look through this roster so we could properly assess this team before we started recording and we couldn't even early find any notable improvements from free agency specifically the only notable name that they signed was tanno capacity. Gno who defensive end out of villanova drafted a few years ago played for the chiefs and was a strong rotational player on that defense contributed highly important games. That was really the only notable name to come in as a step forward. We're going to get to some of the guys that they lost. But it's worth noting here. A big reason why. They weren't able to be aggressive in free agency and why they had to cut ties with a lot of recognizable. Names was because of how hamstrung their caps situation is. There's currently thirty three million dollars in dead cap money that is going towards guys. That aren't even on this team anymore. That includes emmanuel sanders. Your janoris jenkins and then about eleven million dollars that is supposed to be going towards Drew brees in the money that would have effectively been on the salary cap. So that salary cap situation really really hurt their ability to make some improvements through free agency. Yeah the the saints really kicked that economic hand as far down the road as they could trying to win one. More super bowl with drew brees. Let him go out on a high note and this year it finally catches up with them and between all of that's dead money of all those big contracts which you know right now aren't doing anything for them but holding them back and then the salary caps shrinking for twenty twenty one you put a perfectly they. They're just completely hamstrung when it comes to free agency and this is a team where if seemed year after year they would never be able to make any kind of a move and they would always find some way to massage maneuver their way through the salary cap. signed somebody you know. Some big name would wind up in new orleans but this year finally all caught up to them now. Maybe they go wild next year when the salary cap goes up again but for this year They really don't have much in the editions. Column as far as veterans. Go no and as you highlighted here. They were in such a strong effort to make a run with drew brees before his age caught up with him and it finally was starting to over the last few seasons in now. Drew brees is retired. Their quarterback situation is not necessarily solidified. We don't know if it's james winston. We don't know if it's tastes him hill. We don't even know if either guy is really a viable option. And if they're going to have success offensively but as you said because they were so hell bent on trying to get things in with drew brees which is the right strategy. Twenty twenty one is going to be a difficult year for them to establish some success because they have a lot of money going towards big name. Guys justifiably ryan ramczyk. Marcus williams michael. Thomas marshon lattimore. Those guys are getting a lot of money because they were brought in as young players. They now have to be paid. But they didn't have any room to pay anybody else to bring in noon free agency. So now is kind of like a a a transitional spot for the saints. We'll talk a little bit later about how we think that they're gonna turn out best case worst cases we always do but this is really a difficult situation as they didn't even really have that many draft picks to fill many of these needs and you saw them draft pete and turner in the first round. Which was one of the bigger head scratchers on day. One pete warner was a really really strong pick who slotted to start at that will backer spot paulsen deebo somebody. We talked up a lot as maybe a diamond in the rough who didn't play. During the twenty twenty season. So you're getting a good quality rotational corner and then possibly in book. I guess works his way into a competition for the backup spot or the third string spot. I mean that's the only the only other notable name. I can really point to chris from this draft class that maybe fills a need if in books. My starting quarterback or has to even take any snaps during the season. I'm pretty concerned. I be right there with you. If the saints. See ian book on the field. Either something has gone incredibly right with his development where he just plays at a level. We never really saw at notre dame or something has gone horribly wrong. With the other quarterbacks on the roster or their season has gone completely off the rails and they've they're running him out there to see what they got. Yeah exactly tha- that's the way i'm looking at it. Here is if in book is on the field. It's because something did not go. Well i some people like to say. Oh he's he's the same size as drew brees. Why can't he drew brees. The book is not drew brees and a player of in books. Physical stature and physical traits is not necessarily built to be successful in the nfl these days. There's a reason. Why teams are vying. For zack wilson types and patrick mahomes types. They're chasing guys. That fit a certain bill and i think in book really scares a lot of team so that was a bit of an odd pick. But i'm looking at the rest of these draft picks. I don't really know how many i can really say we're improvements because pain. Turner is a defensive end. He's going to be sitting behind cam. Jordan and marcus davenport so he might not even really get a ton of playing time in this upcoming coming. Twenty twenty one season paulsen deebo gonna mostly rotate because of their current decent quality corner situation with marshon land more than the other starting corner. Patrick robinson i do though really like that. That pete warner pick up because they need some help at linebacker and he was such an underrated player in this class. Yeah we talked about this during our draft. A pete warner is a guy. I really liked watching what. I really liked watching him play and he said he was an underrated player. Nobody was really talking about him but he was just all over the field play. With great energy. I think really underrated athleticism. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him earn a starting job. Almost right away on the saints defense and you know for a team which for we'll say most of the last decade or so pretty much. All of the sean payton drew brees era was known for just being an incredible offense team but a team that had to have a great offense because they never really had much of a defense over the last couple seasons. They really have built a strong defense down there new orleans. Yeah they do have a really strong defensive unit and you almost start to wonder now here. Are we at a point where they're starting to age and are we. Are we curious as if this team is really built to be sustainable and long-term they do have some interesting names..

"Accusations that they made trades that they made their draft picks the might have not been paying attention to some of these teams that the giants are going to be facing in twenty twenty one the things that they did. That's the goal of these. Episodes is so that you're familiar with these rosters and who the giants are playing. We already did the full. Nfc east so. If you miss those episodes go listen in as we talked about washington the eagles and the cowboys we also did a bronco show but today is the next out of conference opponent for the giants which is the atlanta falcons in early opponent for the g. men so chris. This this falcons team we were just discussing here as we were getting ready to start recording and preparing our notes. This falcons teams pretty underwhelming. This is not an exciting team. This is not a team that you can really say. Wow they're gonna take a next step next year like we were saying with the broncos. Potentially this is a team where they lost a lot and we're going to talk about some of those losses. The first major improvement improvement that we have to note. And i i guess you could consider it an improvement when you change coaches when your other coach dan. Quinn was struggling to get the job done. Arthur smith offensive. Coordinator comes over from tennessee. A guy known for loving to run the football. A huge change in offense of philosophy. Here comes arthur smith. I think that that's going to base some pretty good dividends as this roster has been aging for a while now it's just a matter of shifting direction and if the offensive line can block for newly added running back mike davis. Yeah that i think is going to be something to watch with this team yet. Also it will be interesting to see what impact this has on matt ryan because it is the. Nfl is all about the quarterbacks. And arthur smith was the offensive coordinator for the tennessee. Titans last two years. And over that time we saw ryan tannehill blossomed from really an afterthought and a bust in miami into one of the better quarterbacks in the nfl the transformation he has gone through since getting away from adam gays and being under arthur smith is really pretty. Amazing is something that hasn't gotten enough enough. I would say attention at the national level and it would be interesting to see how much of that ground and pound offense. The derrick henry offense follows arthur smith to atlanta or if he tries to recreate what he had with ryan tannehill and aj brown. Also corey davis. And the that. I think will kind of lead into some of our discussions with the rest of this team in this offense. But the falcons are definitely going to look different than what we got used to the last few years. Now whether that's a good different or or a worse different or just a lateral different. That remains to be seen and a lot of people said during the coaching cycle. That arthur smith was one. You're going to be one of the top. Three candidates that was available so for them to go and get a really good head. Coaching candidate and not really a surprise. Because the falcons have been desirable franchise to be a part of because of the direction that they've been under their ownership with arthur blank. They've just always had really good resources. They've always been well-supported supported by blank. And now here. We come. Arthur smith i think that this is going to pay them dividends but the question is do they have what it takes to actually be a competitive roster twenty twenty one with some really really good teams in the nfc south. And i we'll wait until the end to touch on that. Getting into some of the free agent editions. They had the upbringing in mike. Davis was one that we already hit on who had a pretty good year stepping in and taking over that primary role in carolina when christian. Mccaffrey was out. He started to flash things. he was pretty productive. This is a big bowling ball. Type running back who is not afraid to take some contact not afraid to take some hits and he might be able to fill that role not necessarily as derrick henry but just as the power back that arthur smith is going to be seeking for a very heavy run. Centric power run centric based offense they also did bring in doron harmon. Who is a veteran defensive back. And then the last one which we were debating how we really think arthur smith might deploy this guy but they also added in cordell patterson who has been used in so many different ways by so many different teams since being a first round pick. We know. he's a talented kick returner. He's played receiver and he's played running back most recently with the chicago bears. So that's just an added weapon to the fold and this team actually is doing pretty well in the weapon category. And that's kind of a through line for forever really with the atlanta falcons. They always seem to have weapons at their disposable. You know whether it is the. And we'll get to the since departed. Julio jones but then calvin ridley even going back to when they had mike vick under center or running around the backfield doing whatever he did. You know they're a team. You had to keep an eye on offensively that they always had guys whether it was a running back. Wide receivers quarterback tight ends. What what have you. They're always guys who could hurt you on the offensive side of the ball guys who could generate big plays like that. They've always done a really really good job under dan. Quinn of having some talented guys. And it seems like the whole time. Matt ryan has been the starting quarterback he's always had viable options in understandably. They lost julio jones. That's going to be a massive hit. But they still have decent quality players that can pick up some chunk yardage with guys like cordell patterson who they can get creative with. They can use him not just as a traditional receiver or traditional running back. He's a guy that has shown the ability to play multiple things but their draft. Actually they did a pretty good job in the draft. That's where i think. The optimism is gonna live. Four falcons fans is that the direction in a couple years. I think can be pretty good with this team. Depending on how long they want to stay married to matt ryan if they wanna keep him around or if they wanna maybe try and start over they do have a pretty good young core from the last previous draft and then this current cycle of selecting kyle pits fourth overall is only going to be a huge impact to them coming in a tight end tandem. That is him an hayden. Hearst you also have richie grant who you were telling me before was one of your defensive backs in this class and then jalen may a pretty good offense of lyman. Who's probably gonna plug in at guard somewhere. If they can even fit him because they've already got like a okay veteran lead in starting group for this offensive. Line jalen mayfield. I think is going to be an interesting guy. Interesting case to watch them go from third round up. Because i think that's where the the real meat of their draft is although they do have your guy along the defensive line forder former notre dame player whose name. I'm going to leave to you'd if i audio edgy there. We go audio edgy. He was a guy we we both talked about before draft. He's got all of those physical tools. It never quite seemed to put it all together in in college. But if he's if this new direction for the franchise you know they. They have needed a defense for a long time so there's going to be opportunities for him if he can put it all together to put those tools to use. He could make an impact but just to go back to around jalen mayfield. I liked him in the draft. He was inconsistent. But he's just a big offensive lineman Six five three twenty five three thirty somewhere around there and i. It was remarkable. How smooth a mover he could be a little inconsistent but for a big guy he had a really good bend like he is a natural knee bender. He didn't bend at the waist. He didn't have heavy feet he could kick slide pretty well at that tackle position so he could have some some flexibility in how he develops they could slide him inside the guard. They could try him at right tackle. I i don't think he's going to be replacing. Jake matthews at left tackle anytime soon..

"So chris. I was referencing this before we started recording and before we unpacked the the aaron rodgers dilemma. If that's on the table. I think just overall the way i see this team. I think it's pretty steady for me if they currently stick with their quarterback situation and you have at least average to maybe slightly below average quarterback play. I see this as a bears team last year. Where they're going to be really talented defensively. They're going to be at defensive-minded team that is going to probably dominate and slow down some opposing teams. But at the same time you know they're not going to necessarily put up. A lot of offense of numbers are going to be capable and close enough to compete for a playoff spot with a very average record. But what's going to hold them back from really competing is probably going to be some hindrance at the quarterback position. So i i really see this team. Being a middling record type team next season. yeah. I think that's how i see them as well. You know kind of like the bears like washington last year where they've got a bunch of pieces in place. They've got an offense that i think is ready for a quarterback to take them to the next level. You know they've got jerry judy. They added devante williams. They added seth williams receiver. I liked out of auburn last year. They might have added a good piece offensive line and quin miners. And who knows maybe ted teddy bridgewater will help them or maybe drew lock will take that next step that everybody thinks he could be capable of but i think the way. Their quarterback situation stands right now. Teddy bridgewater should be that game manager. Steady but unspectacular drew lock. He could be really feast or famine as a quarterback bo. We're getting ready for this. I i went and looked up some of the stats in more advanced. Stats andrew lock and last year. Outside of garbage time drew lock was daniel jones. They're basically drew lock had a better. Epa expected points added per attempt than daniel. Daniel jones did mostly because he was attempting passes a lot further down the field. I basically nine yards two seven yards. Jones had a bit better success. Rate a better completion percentage again likely because he wasn't throwing as far down the field he was taking a lot shorter routes and Jones he didn't take deep shots very often but when he did they paid off. That's kind of where the two quarterbacks are there. Were literally twenty four and twenty five in this list. So i think the real elephant in the room and you mentioned it. Before is aaron rodgers. We know a iran is anything but grunfeld in fact i would go so far as to say is disgruntled in green bay and i think everybody right now is just kind of waiting to see what happens. Will he play this year. Will he played for green bay. We'll green bay trade him. You will aaron rodgers a hold out or joel. Corey the former. Nfl agent brought this up in a piece for cbs sports. Could rogers use the nuclear option. And opt out of the season because that would eliminate green bay's ability to basically use rogers contract against him and it would force green bay to play with jordan love who they traded up for in the was twenty twenty draft so could green bay go so far as to basically cut off their own knows despite the face of their franchise or would they treat him very late in the process which could kind of be a little bit of a screw. You get used to this new team with almost no time left and take whatever denver is willing to give us for you. There is a lot of intrigue with that situation. But aaron rodgers knows the west side the west coast offense inside outside back in front. They have pat shurmur. There that i think is a very very good offense. Coordinator quarterback fit where. I don't think it would take long for rogers to get up to speed in that offense and that could change the broncos season outlook completely but again. We just don't know what's going to happen there. Yeah yeah we don't really know what's going into this. Aaron rodgers trade deal. We don't we don't really know if this is actually going to happen or not. But there's a reason why the broncos have been one of the most projected teams to do it because as we mentioned the whole beginning of the show defensively. They're competitive team. They are good enough to do some serious damage but at the same time you know if they can get an elite level quarterback it's going to really impact the potential success of this team. If they can get somebody like aaron rodgers. they're going to be good. There's no other real team out there. Like the broncos right now in a position where if rogers is placed on the roster. They are competing for an afc championship. I don't think that's really too crazy to say they might be able to be more supportive than the packers are in right now that they're not trying to actively replace aaron rodgers is the other thing too and we've also seen a willingness to move on from younger guys in the move in the direction of a veteran when they did that with peyton manning so they're not going to be afraid to do it. There's a reason why keeps being floated out there. It's just you almost have to think and you and you said maybe they're trying to spite him by waiting longer and longer to trade him at the same time. The longer you wait the less you can get from the bronx of the packer. Packers less you can get from the broncos so right now there's a lot in the air. The window is closing for them to actually get something done. Rogers might end up actually suiting up and just playing for the packers. But if he's going to get moved. Denver makes a lot of sense. Yeah i think denver probably makes more sense than just about anybody they could make sense for. Maybe carolina or washington but green bay is not going to trade aaron riders in the nfc. They're going to get him as far away as they can. Because the last thing they want is to trade him have him basically pull a tom brady or a peyton manning and take his team to the playoffs and potentially knocked them out like it would be a nightmare scenario for green bay to come up against rogers in the playoffs. You know one in done and have him just full of spite and all but living to knock them out of the Out of the playoffs and said you know. I'll show you that. That is a thing. They're just not going to allow to happen so i think it would really come down to white. Denver is offering green bay comes to the conclusion that they can move on from aaron rodgers that jordan. Love is their future.

"The show as we continue our offseason coverage for the new york giants. I'm jody williams. Joined by chris flom and as we did last episode today we will be reviewing viewing another one of the new york giants opponents for the twenty twenty one season and as we did the egos on the last episode. We're doing another. Nfc east team today. Being the dallas cowboys. So chris this is a talented squad. One that underperformed in the first season under mike mccarthy. A lot of people had super high expectations for this cowboys team yet. Losing dak prescott also struggling early with dak prescott. They were able to put up a ungodly amount of yards through the air but defensively they were like swiss cheese and i think that before we talk a little bit about dak chris. I think we need to dive deep into discussing what dallas was able to do to vastly improve their defense because they went move on from their previous defensive coordinator dan. Quinn former falcons. Head coach takes over in that role. Who is known as a fantastic coach and then all of these draft picks as well as the signing of kiana. Neil most notably. Mike parsons to bill cox osa over digging zoo. They went heavy in fixing this defense. Going against the stereotype. If you will that. Mike mccarthy does not care about the defensive side of the ball. They put a lot of effort in bolstering that group. I'm not sure how you could watch their games last year and not care about their defense at least if you are coming at it from all or coming at it from a dallas cowboys perspective at all. I think fans of the giants eagles washington. They loved the dallas defense last year. But mike mccarthy couldn't not care about it and i'm right there with you the getting back prescott. Back is their single biggest improvement over the offseason. But i biggest. It's getting defense period because for probably the first two thirds of the season and then again at the end of the season. The dallas defense was basically nonexistent Beat up they had Dads guys missing the to injury but mike nolan at his defensive scheme. The guys they had they just were not playing well. There were not playing cohesively. There were very clearly set up. Kind of like the The old colt defense and this was something we know during the season. They're built like the colts. Defense under peyton manning where they're built to play with a lead and built to pressure quarterbacks. At least in theory they just were not doing that last year. And this. you're getting dan quinn Try to put the pieces together to get them. Playing well They're revamping their secondary to be kind of in that seattle. Seahawks mold with big long big quarterbacks. They've got digs and they've got a israel mcquay do a couple of other additions that secondary edition. Two keanu neil. They've got some guys on the front seven said they added. Mike parsons who we both loved. In the draft process. It was painful to watch dallas draft him. But i'm also kind of used to. That is would be the third time. Dallas has drafted linebacker. I really wanted to see in giants blue. Actually fourth time account sean lee and then they also editorial cox who i was a fan of. You know very athletic off ball linebacker oso digs another guy. I really liked who plays with just ridiculous leverage and explosive power even though he isn't very big so they did a lot to try to get this defense up to where it can carry its own weight and capitalize on the pressure. Their offense hopes to put off opposing. Defenses you really covered a ton here. All these moves that they made and the one thing that stands out to meet dan quinn taking over and then the effort to recreate almost what he had in his time as the defensive coordinator for the seattle seahawks which was having tall long aggressive corners. And they're able to replicate that with getting israel. And they sean right. Who are both six foot. Four defensive backs now expected to play safey safety nation. Right is a a quarter. A lot of these guys are tolan long and then they're going to try and create some pressure with all these different heads that they have along the defensive line improve the linebacker core of that was dragging a little bit. It'll be interesting to see how certain players line up. But i think the addition of mike. Parsons alone is going to be a move. That is really going to improve this defense. That is what makes i think dallas yet again and i. It almost feels as though we come in every season saying this is the year that dallas is going to be good. Any analyst always says that they always come in believing that dallas is finally going to get over the hump and they're finally going to be competitive for the giants sake. I hope that's not true yet again. But this actually might season where we see progress for the dallas cowboys. You're returning with dak prescott. The defense is young. it's explosive. It has a good leader in charge and bleeding that defense so a lot of things are trending in the right direction for that defensive unit which was clearly the major weakness and i think the only thing that was holding them back until back prescott hurt. I definitely agree. And i think kind of the nightmare scenario for giants fans is that parsons has the same impact on the dallas. Defense that chase young hat on washington's defense last year we knew washington's front seven was good before they got chase young but he kind of set everything off and that defense was really able to drag an offense that was kind of listless. It didn't because of injury situations it didn't have that steady quarterbacking presence that you need for an offense to carry its own weight and that defense in washington and the pressure was able to generate the disruptive news able to bring to the table really dragged them to the division title. And i think the nightmare scenario here is that. Mike parsons with his ability to explode downhill as a pass. Rusher you know. We talked about depending on how you feel about jalen phillips in his health. Mica parsons could have been the best edge rusher in the nfl draft this year but he also has that ability to play in space. And then you pair him with leighton vander esch with debris hawks jalen smith and you have a really athletic linebacking core. You've got a trusted hill. Nevin gallimore also dig zoue demarcus lawrence. Randy gregory is back. They added carlos bookie basham in the draft and all of a sudden this dallas front seven. It is not a unit. You can sleep on. If dan quinn can get him all pulling in the same direction yes certainly in the and this is something that is clearly improved for this team Their defense is getting so much better on on just so many different levels that we're seeing but the other thing too that we're talking about here that is important for the success of the dallas cowboys is the return of dak prescott who goes down with the very bad injury to his ankle. Obviously playing against the giants in a situation where logan ryan comes up to tackle. And you get dak prescott back playing at the level. He was for those first few games before he got hurt. He is going to be a problem for opposing defenses. They were putting up a target for reason. They've got a really talented receiver group. Their offensive line is always going to be one of the better ones in the nfc east. Even though that it's starting to age and it's dragging a little bit in terms of being fully healthy all the time regardless this offense now returning with dak prescott not having to play a who's who at quarterback with benvenuti nucci and coop. Arosh andy dalton. Were instead here back with dak prescott and he can actually lead the squad. Assuming he's fully healthy. Yeah you know. Like i said before getting dak prescott back is probably the single biggest improvement dallas made and was on just ridiculous pace before he.

"Chris. The first regression. That i'm gonna point to here is losing carson wentz and i know that a lot of people might be hearing me make that statement in might already be saying to themselves that's not a regression carson. Wentz was terrible at the end of his time with the eagles. And there's a reason why he's on the colts now and he's he's probably better off there but the reason why i'm saying that this is a regression is because we're not entirely sure that jalen hurts is a step forward if this is not at least a lateral move which lateral move is not going to be good if he plays the same way that carson wentz did last year this will be a step back but if jalen hurts does not look as good as people are hoping for and are expecting. It could be very problematic for this eagles team and that has to be the big overlapping headline question. Mark for this eagles roster in twenty twenty one is that is jalen hurts the guy for the future or is he a placeholder that they will eventually replace in the next draft cycle guy. I think that really is the question with this offense and let me let me. Just say this. I like jalen hurts. I liked watching him in college. I liked watching him at alabama. I liked watching him at oklahoma. I have a lot of respect for him. I think he is a good leader. I think he's a good teammate. And i think he's a guy who can be a winner. He certainly not the prototypical. Nfl quarterback he is able to make his skill set work for him now. Will he be able to take steps in the upcoming season. I don't know you know. We didn't see a whole lot of him last year. For most of the year he was a guy brought on in some kind of funky to quarterback packages occasionally as a option quarterback occasionally even running screens out on passes from carson wentz. But then at the end of the year we did get to see him onfield end. He was good enough for the eagles to be in games and to threaten winds but he also really needs to take some significant steps forward in just in terms of efficiency you know he did some impressive things with just his combined running in passing but to win in the nfl. You really need to be able to throw as a quarterback and he only completed fifty two percent of his passes. He threw six touchdowns in four games. Which is earned four starts rather which is a nice star but he also threw four sections and his yards per attempt and adjusted. Net yards per attempt were pretty lackluster. And he had a relatively high percentage lulu over eight percent so while he did some things that are that could bode well for the eagles with the right development. He also showed some things that suits He is at best a lateral move. He's not going to be that kind of winner that he was at alabama oklahoma. He certainly isn't the same kind of prospect that to attack by low is or baker. Mayfield or cuyler. Murray were so it's very possible. The eagles could be looking for another new quarterback next year. Right the mixed bag of results from jalen hurts is what makes this so hard to really predict what he's going to be because you see a lot of good things he makes them good throws he makes some good plays with his legs. Goes from being as you said a sub package guy into the defacto starter and does okay really when he was stepping in the completion percentage is definitely concern and a lot of what i saw from. Jalen hurts is a guy that when things break down. Everyone wants to talk about yeah. He's a great athlete. But i think when the ability to pick up yards with his legs is not there and available. I see guy that doesn't have a plan and often times of inconsistencies with his accuracy. That's a problem if you're a quarterback in the nfl you need to be accurate. I know that so simple to say but you have to have consistency with ball placement. No matter how good devante smith ends up becoming you're not going to produce results if you can't get him the football and the reason why he devante smith was able to do well with mac jones was because they made things really simple for the both of them. They got him the football as easily as possible with screens and various places like that quick routes. Maybe that's the avenue for making this offense work in twenty twenty one but of course that leads into the next point here as a potential regression. I know doug. Peterson was not exactly the pinnacle of head coaching towards his end. He was struggling towards the end. But he's still a good head coach guy. That won a super bowl with nick. Foles as the starting quarterback that is a sign of being a good coach and this is very similar to moving from carson winston. Jalen hurts that being the question of. Is it a lateral move. Moving from doug peterson to nick serianni. Is that a lateral move. We won't know until some results have been produced but many people are really questioning of serianni was the best available candidate for this eagles team and his primary. I think issue that he is going to deal with this. Season is getting jalen hurts to produce results in his second year in nfl if he stays stagnant or maybe even takes a step back. Then you will not only are questioning the aptitude of nick serianni as a head coach. Who's supposed to be able to influence quarterbacks as an of mine a guy but then it also puts a bigger question. Mark on jalen hurts can be the guy if he can't outdo poor coaching. So i syrian leads into that next big possible regression for this team. Yeah siri is he is. He could be a good move for them at head coach..

Jalen Chris nick serianni serianni Murray carson winston doug next year Peterson nick fifty two percent six touchdowns last year jalen Wentz syrian doug peterson both carson wentz four games

"A little bit more an answerable question of knowing what he is going to be can he play coherently and consistently with jalen hurts remains to be seen the other addition or improvement rather chris is that of adding ryan kerrigan. Now if this was five years ago. I think i'd be saying wow. This is a fantastic addition. He's a great edge rusher dangerous player and we talked about it a little bit when he signed with the eagles but when you look at their whole free agency. This is the only really recognizable name that stands out and a team that lost some defensive line players like me jackson a team that is regressing and getting older on the defensive side of the football. I think anybody like ryan kerrigan is plus just. Because he's a veteran guy he's consistent. He'll cause some problems but he's not the same player that used to be. Yeah no this is the thing we talked about with. Nick faldo is that ryan kerrigan has pretty much long been. His whole career has been a giant killer and it should give the giants at least a little bit of a pause to see him staying in the nfc east end really going to a team that the giants have struggled against for pretty much all the last decade and that is note worthy like you said he isn't the same player he was Even three certainly five years ago. He is losing a step. He isn't an every down edge rusher anymore but he is a guy who can help their defense if they can get into a second or third and long situations just obvious pass rushing situations. You know he can still beat ofensive tackles. He can still apply pressure to the quarterback and get the quarterback on the ground. He has been you really remarkably consistent being able to do that throughout his career even as he's lost step yeah even though he has lost a step a guy like that a guy like ryan kerrigan who has been so disruptive for so long is only going to drop off so much. Never last thing chris. That is a little bit more figurative. I guess is that this. This team improved in the sense that they're probably going to be more healthy than they were last year. There were a ton of injuries along their offense of line inconsistencies with guys being available to play to a point where it was a. Who's who on the offensive line jordan. May lada was a nice surprise but separate from that. They had to plug in and play a ton of random players along their offense their defensive injuries. All of that stuff comes into play which really led to a disastrous season in twenty twenty because of all those injuries. It looked like they were going to win the nfc east to had they not dealt with some of these issues that they were dealing with in the second half but now coming into twenty twenty one. They should be more healthy across the board. And i think the big thing for me here is the health of the offense of line. These if you have lane. Johnson you have brandon brooks. You have a decent kelsey. Maybe you plug in land and dickerson jordan melodic and slot in at that on either tackle spot if you're willing to go with him again. That's a pretty good offensive line. If that's what the role in west. Yeah i i would say that as long as offensive line is stay healthy. It should be good enough for them to at least be competitive. That offensive line group shouldn't hold them back. it doesn't really have any liabilities on it. As long as they're healthy now as we saw last year that that is kind of easier said than done and really the eagles last year kind of reminded me of the giants kind of in the middle or towards the end of. Tom coughlin's tenure when they were the reigning injury dynasty and you never knew exactly which position group was getting a wiped out by injury. But it at some point. You just knew you're going to find out what the bottom of at least one physician groups depth chart looked like at. It wasn't going to be pretty so if the eagles can stay healthy. That could be the biggest thing for them this year. Where just having their intended starters on the field they showed they could be competitive in the nfc east with their starting roster the trick the trick really could be just keeping those guys on the field for seventeen games yet. Keeping all those guys healthy and availabil- is going to be so crucial for any success on this team and the other thing too that i completely glazed over andre dillard who. They drafted very highly a couple of years. Ago was the biggest injury that they dealt with early on. Who probably going to be playing left tackle for them at the start of the season so they actually have some pretty good depth if they're fully healthy with their oh line. It's just again a matter of if all of these older guys are available to play because you we're looking at jalen hurts who is able to throw off structure a little bit better than some other guys in the nfl. But you don't really want a second year quarterback running for his life. We saw what happened with daniel jones. The eagles do not want that to be What's happening jalen hurts in this twenty twenty one season. Their success is going to be really dependent on the health of that offensive line that just seemingly every single year has been very very healthy. Coming up we're gonna talk about their off-season regressions and you could imagine. There were some pretty big steps down for the eagles team before we get to that. Though we're just gonna take a short commercial break.

"I said we're going to go through all of the nfc east teams and then we're also as many opponents on the giants schedule as we really can to get a feel for what to expect in twenty twenty one and when you're not talking about the giants it's easy to miss out on some things. That teams did over the offseason like before we started recording. We really notice that. The eagles didn't have many free agent acquisitions or move separate from really one big name. The rest were just retaining guys bringing in small names and we're going to get to that but the overall goal is to familiarize you folks with the giants are playing in today is going to be the philadelphia eagles as i said so. Our first point of discussion is going to be offseason improvements. How this team has improved. Things that have been added players that have been added. And how that has made this roster better. In the first clear cut one has to be devante smith wide receiver out of alabama. A player who they traded up with the dallas cowboys to get ahead of the giants to draft him just despite the giants. And then you can also throw in their chris if you want the addition of land dickerson as well. Because both of these alabama players are talented and their at positions of need because they're receiving group last year was terrible and then in addition to that there office of line was pretty messy because they didn't have a whole lot of depth. Yeah i think that's exactly it. The eagles receiving core. I don't think really scared anybody in the nfl light. I i'm not sure. There was a secondary group. Maybe apart from their own that they're wide receivers really scared on the field. So assuming onto smith can play like he did last two years at alabama. You know those of you who listen to us during our draft. Run-up know that we we had our our concerns will say decide about whether or not divide dismiss is just physically big enough to really compete in the nfl at the same level. He did at alabama if he is able to do that than he is a pretty big upgrade a much needed upgrade to that wide receiving corps and also linden dickerson is a guy. I think we both really liked coming off of that. Alabama offensive line He was a very good center for them. He does have injury concerns boy if if their offensive line there starting offensive line is kind of the mess it was last year then dickerson could slot in at probably either of the guard positions or the center position just kind of as needed and that is a really good value for them and that could be a pretty big piece for their offense at least this year. Yeah that landon dickers- in addition by drafting him was really an underrated. Move and i don't think landon dickerson was one of the more elite prospects in the interior in this class. But he still is a talented guy. A guy that is technically sound. And that's really what they needed last year. They didn't really have anybody to turn to when all of these injury started to happen. And we're starting to see. The jason kelsey is really not as good as he used to be. He's not moving at the same speed as he was previously and that was really holding him back. So landon dickerson eventually going to take over that center spot. But he's also capable of playing either of those guard spots so landed dickerson great addition for this offensive line. Maybe he doesn't plug in right away. But i can't imagine that they're going to be hesitant in getting an early draft. Pick onto the field as long as he's going to be healthy. Devante smith though is a major major move for them and this is going to be a big name player for this team for a very long time. Which is going to be so frustrating chris to see every single year this guy who could have been in likely would have been a new york giant facing off against the giants twice a season. So he's probably going to be in the running for offense of rookie of the year depending on how well jalen hurts. Plays right now. I look at this receiving group and i. I don't think it's too crazy to say that. Devante smith is the best receiver in this group. I mean who else is he. Competing with jalen rager is more of a home run hitter. Then it consistent receiving threat now devante smith can take over that x receiver roll this primary target role and allow jalen rager to be that speed guy that home run hitting receiver. Yeah i think one thing to keep in mind is that. There's going to be a much shorter. Learning curve between devante. Smith and jalen hurts than i think. We're really used to use to seeing. That was kind of a common theme particularly in the first round of the nfl draft. This year is that the teams went out and got players. Their quarterbacks were familiar with jalen hurts. And devante smith played together at alabama before jalen hurts went to oklahoma transferred to oklahoma because it was inevitable that to attack avello was going to be the starting quarterback for alabama. He was the starting Hurt that was the starting quarterback for alabama and he won a lot of games for them and he already has that rapport with devante smith. They know each other. they know each other's tendencies. They know how to communicate. So that could allow them to get up to speed and get to be productive. Really pretty early on in. This season ended in divorce. Dismiss career. Yeah that's really going to be one of the things that comes into this established relationship things are gonna be already clicking them early because of all the practice time they spent together win they were at alabama and. I'm willing to bed that as soon as that pick was in there was probably immediate communication between the two and it's certainly something that both sides are going to be excited about so this is a good addition for jalen hurts. Who coming into a second year might be the biggest one of the biggest question marks at quarterback out of any nfl team if he is going to be a definitive answer or not but devante smith.

Smith dickerson linden dickerson last year oklahoma landon dickerson Devante smith jason kelsey both two dallas cowboys jalen hurts This year landed dickerson jalen first round today both sides alabama smith

Breaking Down the New York Giants Initial Practice Squad

"Other thing going on with the giants roster is the shaping of their practice squad. We're not gonNA project who we think is going to be on the practice squad because as were recording it, we should receive some type of news by the end of the day Sunday, who is on the practice squad for some reason? You probably noticing this to the giants have been taking their time. To the fullest extreme to put in all this information, their fifty three man roster I think was announced. Ten or fifteen minutes after the required four o'clock deadline. Meanwhile, every other team had already gotten their stuff in before that chalk that up to Dave gettleman and Joe Judge trying to take their time in re be very detailed with it. They also this is official that we already talked about some of the claims but they have claimed offense tackle Jackson, Barton, wide receiver, Damian Rally, and then also safety Adrian Colbert they could either end up on the roster or be pushed to the practice squad. But the one thing that's worth noting and we're GONNA talk about the practice once official on another episode but it's worth noting that this season the practice squad is very. Very unique. It's bigger than it typically is and teams are going to be using it as a shuffling group that if someone gets sick, they can send them home quickly, sign them to come play right away they're gonNA travel. I would bet with most of if not all of these guys and have the bill availability to sign them immediately in the case of an emergency yet honestly to for me, that's kind of a step closer to what the practice squad should be anyway I I've never really liked the practice squad the way it has been where it's limited the guys who can be on it are very limited in the amount experience they can have and. They're really not protected at all. So any team can basically swipe a player off any other teams practice squad on very little notice. and. To me I I really do like these changes to the practice squad rules. The fact that it's bigger that the teams can keep more players around they don't have quite the same constraints on. Experience that we've seen in years past and the fact that they can promote guys from the practice squad to the active roster on basically ninety minutes notice. So I really like the flexibility that that gives teams and I'm sure we're going to be seeing teams take advantage of that this year probably in ways that the NFL isn't exactly planning on. And I wouldn't be surprised if there are certain aspects of this short-term practice squad for this season that are maybe tried to be translated into next year or come next CBS negotiation asked for by the players. So more players can stick around and be retained by their various teams it. It is a lot better like you said, Chris compared to way the way. That they've done it previously, it's better to have more guys if you can carry as many guys as they are allowed to this

"Special teamer and be responsible for pinning a few offenses back right at their own goal line which really helped out the defense and last year two years ago twenty eighteen. The korey Coleman emerged from really nowhere just as a street free agent to be one of the really dangerous kick returners in the NFL. The the giants were really hoping he would be there. Kick returner again this year end use that explosive speed of his to open things up downfield. We don't know what he is going to be like coming off of a tornado. See Al we don't even know if he's going to be on the roster next year at that will be something. I think that comes down to who the next offensive coordinator is and just what they think of him and his potential role on the field. Could it Latimer is a nice guy. He he is a good. He's a good option as a number three number four receiver. A guy who can really make those a tough contested catches but he's also a guy who more or less has to make those tough contested catches because he's another one who just really struggles to create separation ration- the giants have depth at receiver. But like you said that they can't really afford to lose too many guys. It's I think it's an under the radar area of need for them. I think if you look at the top guys discussed Latimer and then Russell Shepard. They could really go without them if they end up leaving and going somewhere else. I don't think that would really hurt or hinder the giants too much. But I I do like what you talked about. And how good cody. Core was on special teams in how good of an asset Korey Coleman could be as a kick returner if he recovers properly from his injury that he suffered during the preseason. Both of those guys are probably going to be priorities to bring back considering. Joe Judges Special teams background. I think any other free agents that they decide to bring in depth pieces that they bring in for small simple contracts are probably going to be to fill out the depth on special teams and who can start and contribute on on special teams. I've I've seen on twitter. A reoccurring thing people joking about saying that Matthew slater could come to the giants because of that relation in him being an all pro oh special teamer and also going to reunite with the special teams coordinator. I one hundred percents that I could see that something like that would make a lot of sense sense because that emphasis on special teams bring in a guy that does the right things a veteran who doesn't need to be a number one receiver but goes out out there and does his job. I don't think he would be overly expensive either. Because he's on the older side and he's strictly a special teams guy but he would be brought brought in in the sense of being locker room character player. There have been other guys in the past few years that have been brought into serve that role. But we're really weren't that useful. I think that if you bring in slater he does his job on special teams in the also can be a strong veteran presence on. I wouldn't be too opposed to that. The other thing that needs is to be a a clear plan within this off season or the next off season is finding a future number one receiver or a current on in free agency. All three of these guys are good receivers but I don't see any of them being a number one guy. We need to find someone that can be consistent option for Daniel Jones and maybe they draft someone and he doesn't develop right away into that type of player. But you need to have someone one in place that is a good option for Daniel Jones because ultimately when you have guys that are getting hurt that aren't consistently getting open. You need someone that is going to be the line of consistency and that's only going to elevate this receiver group more. I haven't written about it yet but just in how now I kind of ranked positional value. I am really ready to move wide receiver up into that second tier along with both offensive. Tackle Edge rusher in cornerback. Ed Foot quarterback up by itself because quarterback is really just a different from position than any anywhere else on the football team. If you don't have one of the if you don't have a good quarterback you're not GonNa win at least not win consistently but even though a lot of people regard a wide receiver specifically a number one wide receiver as a as a luxury. It really does does have an impact on a lot of other areas for example as we mentioned having a good wide receiver makes it easier for the quarterback because the wide receivers able to create separation quickly out of his routes that something we saw Odell Beckham do just consistently and create a a quick target for a quarterback to get the ball out before pressure even as a chance to get to him we have seen recently with. Aj Brown in Tennessee. A Kamari Cooper in Dallas and. I believe there's enough data points to say with the giants and Oto Beckham. They make it eager to run the ball because defenses have to respect that number one receiver. They have do scheme to try to take that receiver achiever away and if they're doing that that limits what they can do elsewhere in the field if they are devoting a double team to stopping a receiver. That takes a safety away. Hey from defending the Rod. It limits. What they're able to do with blitzes it limits? What they're able to do with run defense? They aren't as able to call eight man boxes news and really see running backs with who have true number. One receivers have an uptick in their efficiency. They are better able to find favourable alignments fronts in the defense and better able to just pick up more yards. It's more consistently having that guy is an asset four. Really any offense. You don't even really need that number one guy it's to become an all pro receiver when we say having a number one player you just need somebody. That is the most talented other group in is the most consistent and being available in open. Four your quarterback and you can use as a primary focus in your scheme. I don't see any of the three guys right now. As being a focal point for an offensive scheme I see three guys that are talented and could be a good supporting cast to whoever they can potentially bring in now as far whereas guys that they can bring in the wide receiver. free-agent group is pretty scarce. And the two names we were able to pull. I'm not even fully content intent with but they're just names to throw out there. I don't think that they need to be a priority and bringing in they need to throw a ton of money at them. I one being Amari Cooper if if he doesn't resign with the Dallas cowboys which is probably very likely depending on how much they can spend on signing him for it would be a good number one an option. We've seen him be very very good since joining the Dallas cowboys. He was good very early. On with the Oakland Raiders. He's a consistent option but again Dan. Do you really want to waste a ton of money on a number one. Receiver like Amari Cooper and then the other player is potentially Robbie Anderson. This is a huge fat. Maybe I'm not a big Fan Robbie Anderson but he's really the next best young guy on this list that could potentially continue to develop into a good player. I don't see him as the number one receiver maybe if the giants decide to think in the perspective of Hey we have these three guys. Maybe we just add another and number two number three slot type of player in fill out the roster and the receiver group. If you bring in Robbie Anderson he kind of fit that role he would the number one receiver but athletic fast can make some big plays. Yeah honestly unless the giants are looking down on the depth chart looking for a role player to kind of come in and help fill out their special teams be a depth guy basically a another. Cody Cody Latimer. I would not really look to the look to free agency to fill out the wide receiver core war. Two reasons number one. I think those guys are going to price themselves out of just what the giants are willing to spend on a wide receiver especially especially considering they might have to look. They might have to sign a right tackle. They might. They're probably going to have to sign edge rusher even though I just you even though I just got done saying that wide receiver is a premium position in having a good one really helps your whole team out. I think this is just a case where scarcity the just let other teams go after those guys and the reason I say that is this is a very good receiver draft. I'm not going to say it's going to be as good as the twenty fourteen receiver draft but it is going to be very good receiver draft. There are a bunch of guys just on all three days who who could fit pretty much any kind of offense a scheme you want so that is where I would look to find receiver. I think they are a lot better off in drafting someone on and this is the receiver class to do that. They could take the approach of what the Baltimore Ravens did. Which is drafting two guys? Maybe want a little bit earlier on one one. A lot later in the draft towards the Sixth v Seventh Round. You name it. They have a couple extra seventh rounders sitting getting in that range so that might be a better option because they don't have to spend as much money they could see who develops if you see that success of Darius late in developing as a late around around guy this class has that much talent that you could have a similar situation. Alva- fourth or fifth rounder developing into a good option. That that opens up the discussion. Here of where could they be taking a receiver in the first two guys. That come to mind are Jerry. Judy and CD lamb. Who are a one a one B in this year's draft class but the real question here is is the fourth overall? Pick too early to take either of those guys and frankly in my perspective I think yes. I think four is way too early to take a receiver. You'd have to really be getting a homerun player and I think both these guys are very talented. There's other issues that they need to address. I that does not mean though that the giants should not be doing what we've spoke about out which is trying to trade back and allow a very quarterback needy team maybe one that has extra draft capital in the the first round slide back a little bit used one of those picks to get judy or lamb if there instead of four maybe a few picks back in the top ten that would be a little a bit. Make a little bit more sense if the giants decided to take Jerry Judy. Four or CD lamb. I think they could I think the final ranking of them really will be in the eye of the beholder and what individual offensive coordinators are really looking for in a receiver if the giants wound up taking one of them mm. I'd have a hard time really really criticizing it because I as much as the giants have other holes to fill offense tackle edge linebacker safety fifty Center we keep going. I think they could find good ones at the top of the second round as well especially sleet offense of tackled. There's distinct possibility they could get a guy who is really only a small step behind whichever one of the top three office tackles you wind up as the top offensive tackle. I don't see that.

"Staying being healthy and on the field is what really kept this receiver group from being as exclude explosive as they could possibly be. That was the biggest issue from the receiving group. You didn't have a guy over seven hundred and fifty yards the top receiver was Darius Layton with seven hundred forty and I don't credit that too. Oh maybe Beating get certain guys enough touches. That's just because nobody was on the field for a full season. You didn't have a single guy that was on the field all year and it's hard to get over over a thousand yards and I could sit here and say like Oh there's not a you know a number one guy. Nobody went over a thousand yards. There's no clear outlet player. We weren't able to figure out if there was is a clear outlet go-to guy on this receiving group specifically because of how injury prone all three of these players were. There's not really much that you can do to correct this except finding ways to stay healthy working with trainers that kind of thing. But that's not even one hundred percent foolproof. You're at least next year hoping that all three these guys are on the field for most of the Games. Yeah especially with the concussion thing. That was a huge problem for the giants and it really has been a big problem league wide for me. The concern really is with shepherd and his brain just being being healthy and being healthy for life after football and with his kids and that really is the that really is what makes his toughness a double edged Sword Award. He is willing to put his body on the line. Unfortunately that gamble will turn against you at times. And as you said just concussions. Make it more likely. You're going to get another concussion. So that is something that I think. Definitely bears watching going going forward and that really does speak to the the big problem. With this receiving core that was consistency it was consistency staying staying on the field to be able to make plays get yardage make catches score although things but then there were also problems with consistent and seeing getting open using route running to create separation. They probably wouldn't have had to make as many tough catches if they were able to create more separation with their routes. That's let's not complain about shepherd he is consistently excellent at that but it just the other guys Bennie Fowler Cody. Latimer Slayton. That's one area where he definitely does need to improve Getting more detailed in his route running using that to set defensive backs up and really unleash his athleticism. There's also making catches in hanging onto the ball. We saw some drops especially towards the sideline the giants. He's had a few bad drops where they were either looking for the guy who is about to hit hit them or looking to make a move before the ball even got there and those sort sort of things. In addition to their health issues those really held the unit back. Consistency does derive from these issues in the bigger one. One you said is that they consistently weren't able to get on the field in be on the field all at the same time and also when they were all able to play and coming back from these injuries as we don't fully know how healthy they they were that could have been impacting in hindering them from being as explosive as the they were possibly capable of being but the big thing that you really note here is that there were times there relax a huge lack of separation in an inability to get away from defensive sense of backs and find an open window four Daniel Jones to get them the football. You Watch England Jones. Sit and hold the ball earlier on the season and then take hits for fumbles bowl sacks you name it as much as you want to put that on Daniel Jones and saying hey maybe needed dump this off. Hey maybe you need to escape the pocket. If you're holding the ball that long on the the flip side of that you need your receivers to get open because a young quarterback is going to sit there in the pocket and wait for the right play. I think that's something like that. Can Be corrected correct in coaching and worked on and also it's very dependent on the offense of scheme so I'm not gonNA put a ton of pressure on the receivers for this issue. Whoever they bring as their as their offensive coordinator could extremely positively impact their ability to get open and finding a way to really hit on the skill set of this group which is making bigger plays making big catches finding ways to scheme? These guys open will be very very very important so you really hoping to have a creative offensive coordinator that is willing to work with the various strengths of this unique group. But that being said of all three of these guys we do like who. The giants have at the receiver position if a nice blend of veteran and also a a young talented developing first-year player going into his second year. However I think Chris and I both agree that they still need one other player? Our two top off this group before they can take that next step and we're going to discuss all that potential free agents and also the wide receiver draft class us. But before we do that we're going to get very short commercial break. I'm Songwriter Charlie. "Judy Leo. Joined by Chris Lem as always and we are continuing our off season discussion and evaluation shows moving onto the wide receiver position today and obviously there are some very promising things coming out of that group as well as some pretty major concerns. All of which we're going to be addressing today as well as things you need to know about the traff class as well as the wide receiver free agents but before we lead into the receiver discussion Goshen. We do have to discuss the recent move by the New York giants and in addition to their new coaching staff. Under brand new head coach show judge. They decided to hire current dolphins defensive coordinator Patrick Graham as their defensive coordinator seemed like a bit of a surprising zing move and albeit the Joe Judge decision was also very surprising just to put a little bit of perspective on this. The dolphins defense was statistically glee one of the worst in the NFL butts to be completely fair they also. We're one of the worst defenses in terms of talent especially after they lost Mak- Fitzpatrick so a bit it out of a decision. We don't fully understand the reasoning behind it but we can see in the sense of Joe Judge trying to bring someone in that. He is familiar millier with into establish some consistency from that perspective. Hiring Graham make sense he is a guy that Joe Judge knows from his time in New England the guy the giants no from his time as their defensive line coach from two thousand sixteen to two thousand seventeen so at least from that perspective. It makes sense personally. I was expecting the giants to go for a coordinator who just has more experience. Graham only has has one season as a defensive coordinator and that was last season for the dolphins. I was really expecting the giants to bring. Maybe Chris Richard Back or reach out to Wade Phillips Phillips We heard ELMO's named tossed around guys who have just more experience running a unit calling plays that order things so it would give more of a support system to a young first time head coach. I really wanted to dig into Miami's defense events and get a better feel for their scheme and what kind of things stay at least wanted to do. Even though like you said they didn't have the players available available to really execute. Yeah it'll be tough to really figure out what that scheme is capable of that Graham will be implementing and bring to the giants. Because if you look across the the board it was a bunch of backup players guys filling in they didn't even have Xavien Howard for a very long period of time because of injury so they really had no ooh pieces for him to play around with get creative with. It doesn't surprise me that they were statistically as bad as it were their goal this season was to stockpile assets sets so then they can create and develop a team that fits the mold for Brian. Florez now that was a well coached team. Because of Flora's we we don't really know how much Graham had in the in the hand of that much development will again have to see what comes from this. I was fully expecting a veteran veteran. Defensive Coordinator to becoming in. It's really not enough to go off of to have a full evaluation of if this was the right or the wrong move move but it does seem a bit odd. Considering you have a first year head coach that is on the younger side. That won't be calling plays. You would have assumed that they would have brought in someone that has been around a bit experienced and knows really what to expect the wide receiver position for the New York giants. This past season was underwhelming underwhelming at times. Considering the amount of talent they had at their top three guys but there are a lot of positives especially that of Darius Slayton and and you can really credit that too wide receivers coach take Tolbert and as soon as Pat Shurmur was fired by the giants. A lot of people were saying. Hey we need to bring backpack Tolbert. As the wide receivers coach he was a catalyst in the development of the dairy Slayton who ended up receiving leading the giants in receiving living yardage and receiving touchdown. This past season. So Chris what is bringing back Tyke Tolbert. As they're receiving coach really mean for this. The giants receiving group going forward. I I think it really means a lot. Outside of Thomas. mcgahey tyke Tolbert was really the giants best coach the last two years. He is a former receiver himself. He coached quite a few good receivers for Denver and then the giants brought him over. I feel like he is really good at getting young receivers to grasp the fundamentals of their positions really work on honing their craft. Which I think think something we saw with dairy slayton? 'cause coming out of Auburn. He was not a Polish receiver. He isn't really a polished receiver yet but he is much better than I think. Anyone really thought he was going to be as a rookie. Just in things like his release adjusting to the football securing the football at the catch point fighting for tough catches. The those are the things I think. Tolbert has done a very good job with with this receiving core. I think one of the things that Kinda gets lost in the discussion about Daniel Jones is the is the role his receivers played blade and particularly the role they played in adjusting to the football expanding. Catch windows and really coming coming down some difficult catches that they probably shouldn't have been able to make the one that really stands out to me was the sterling shepard touchdown founded in Green Bay where the ball was underthrown and just a very difficult catch in the snow. That's what stands out to me. The big thing you you hit on there was the fact that dairy slain was able to take such a big step forward despite having so many clear issues that he needed to work on. And you can attest that to Darius late and being a talented young receiver but I think most of us really considered him to be a special teams Guy Guy. That was big athletic fast. You usually draft the receiver in that range because you want to develop into a depth piece that eventually does very very well on special teams teams can stick around for a few years but he ended up over performing because he led the giants in receiving yards and that wasn't because of all the injuries that was because he was playing very well he was is making some good corners. Look silly on a number of plays and making some big catches in some huge long plays four touchdowns leading to it was eight touchdown receptions on the season so that is very important. And we're GONNA discuss this later. That whoever they bring in whatever other young guys they bring into this wide receiver receiver room. Tolbert is going to be very very crucial in developing other guys besides Slayton and ultimately it could lead to a very dangerous interest receiver group. There are one guy away from potentially being there. And that's something we're going to discuss later on in the show but having Tolbert back is very very important and just in the sense of consistency in having the same guy also really does help keep things simple. They're familiar with this receivers coach because he's already been there. They don't have to get used to a completely new coach as far as things that we really would like from this receiver group. The one thing that really stood out to us was there clear. Big Play potential from slayton golden tate and also Sterling Shepard. If you just look at long's from the season they all all had receptions over thirty yards and that is huge having three guys that are quicker faster shifty they can get off off there man they can make a play. They can score a touchdown from any spot on the field because they're that talented if they can properly scheme it having assets like that is very very important and it adds an extra level of explosiveness to the giants offense. Yeah I think that actually kind of caused some friction friction at least with the giants identity. Offensively Pat Shurmur really wanted to run a safe ball control offense but the giants have big play personnel perssonel. They've got evidence room. They've got saquon Barkley who've talked about plenty they've got three receivers in Shepherd's Lehtinen Tate. Who are capable all of generating those big plays and that really does help? Open things up for the offense as long as you're willing to embrace it. Yep for the most part those big plays kind of came when the receivers were catching the ball and then making the first defender Miss Miss. They really weren't intended to be big. Plays except for the ones from slayton where they were using his speed and explosiveness vertically otherwise. It was a lot of horizontal. Plays that wound up being broken for big plays. That is something that yet that just really catches your eye watching these. He's t watching these receivers and hopefully something. The next offense coordinator will kind of lean into a little bit more the other big positive from the season you you you touched upon this when we were talking. Tolbert is their ability to make big catches and bail out Daniel Jones so Jones very young. He's going to continue to make those decisions nations where he likes to force the ball into tight coverage. He'll eventually work his way out of that. And be a little bit smarter with the football like we discussed in the quarterback show however he still going to do those things so when you have three players with good hands that can bail him out in those situations when he wants to force them the ball. That is a huge positive resited furthest group in any event where it is a post up one on one situation they can make those tough contested catches and help out help the the the giants offense in and pushed the field and get those first downs yet and it wasn't just making contested catches. It was also showing a lot of toughness. That did kind of bite them at times. which I think will be a nice segue into the next partner show but we saw these guys really show a lot of competitive toughness in how they're making their catches golden tate coming down hard in the end zone sterling shepard extending over the middle even though he knew he was gonna get rocked about a half second after making the catch dairy slayton fighting through contact to make catches down the field that is another aspect of this receiving core? That don't think got enough attention. which just again? They're competitive toughness their willingness to not just make tough catches but be the tough making the catches. A clear thing that we didn't really like from this receiver. Group was the fact that they were not able to stay healthy this season. There were constant stint nagging injuries from the top three guys throughout the whole year. Dairy Slayton was out for towards the beginning because of things that he was dealing with during training camp in the preseason and Golden Tate obviously miss time because of his suspension but then also had his own injury issues and then sterling shepherd the continuous concussion problems. I think thing is a huge red flag and a cause for concern because who knows if he takes one or two more big hits to the head. It's even more likely for him to get a concussion. At what point point to you just shut it down. If you're sterling shepherd we really don't know we don't know what he's thinking and if he gets into that position again and he's worried about his longevity in his future future. He might decide that he no longer wants to play the game of football because he'd rather save his own brain which you can't fault the guy for doing it but staying being healthy and on the field is what really kept this receiver group from being as exclude explosive as they could possibly be. Unfortunately.

"I'm joined by Chris. Foam as always giving you the instant reaction and break down to the reason giant's game and the giants came out of an up up and down rollercoaster of a game that they had a commanding fourteen point lead in at one point. Eventually this game goes to overtime in the giants win in overtime with a cadence Smith Pass forty one. Sorry catch rather forty-one to thirty five in overtime to give them a four and eleven record. Cain Smith has two touchdown receptions the walk off one was a throw from Daniel Jones who threw five touchdown passes and three hundred and fifty two yards going. Twenty eight for forty two to put the big stat line here. As if that Daniel Jones stat line is in already got enough saquon Barkley rushed for a career-high one hundred and eighty nine yards and and a touchdown and that wasn't that wasn't even the full extent of his huge stay but overall a huge often output from the giants today. I think it would be fair to say that. This was an offensive explosion from the giants Washington. We went over this in a couple of different ways in our preview show Washington's defense is. He's just bad. We saw that on the field. The giants were able to pretty effectively neutralize their pass rush and once they did that that was pretty much it for the game there was there was no way. This wasn't going to be a high scoring game. Once the giants lines were able to keep Jones upright and keep the pressure away from him will be covering all of that in today's show and will do it as we typically do immediately really after a show giving you the positives in the negatives discussing them in full depth but the first positive is the one that we already led into inserted talking about in that his saquon Barkley getting a lot of touchdowns. Sorry getting a lot of touches and touchdowns getting a lot of reps getting the ball as often as possible. twenty-six touches help help them get the win in this game had twenty two carries for one hundred and eighty nine yards. Like I said in one touchdown to go along with four receptions for ninety yards and one score for those amount of touches in the amount of times that he was able to get the football really contributed to this game. And it seems like this whole season we've been harping harping on the fact that the giants need to get sake on the ball and if he's not healthy enough at least let him try and do something but now we know sake. One is healthy. Not packed what he was like. Last year he was making defenders that are below average. Look Silly Juechen them out. Making them enable unable to actually make a player attack on him so that Multiple Times today you give him the ball he's GonNa put up a big offense production day. Yeah Yeah I talked talked about this in are the things we learned after the game saquon did what Saquon was supposed to do. He was easily the the best player on the field for either team. He made a bad defense. Just look absolutely silly. The redskins played some absolutely horrible run. Defense especially in the first half the announcers were even talking about how how they had multiple guys in the same gap that we're losing contain. They had really no discipline in the run game. And then they're tackling was just atrocious. It was really more just diving at players as they ran past. And that's never going to get it. Get a specially against against a player like saquon Barkley. When saquon Barkley is healthy? Saquon did what Saquon is supposed to do. An absolutely shredded. A defense onset is just not up to defending him also. Finally the giants got him the ball in space they let him get the ball down field as a receiver. They created opportunities where he only had to make one defender Miss instead instead of getting him. The ball in the backfield and trying to make four or five defenders Miss. It was great to see. The only question is why. Didn't they do sooner and by sooner I don't mean when he was injured in coming back from the high ankle sprain. I mean sooner is in. Why weren't they doing this last year of questions like that? Certainly sum up the current coaching situation. As I would say most people are expecting Pat Shurmur to not be back next season. We'll still have to see. There's no guaranteeing that we don't know for sure. We'll find that out after week. Seventeen after next week but the the one key thing here is seek one obviously got a lot more touches any the football a lot more often than he was in most games in most games that they weren't doing well on offense while he was getting more. The more important thing is getting the ball in the best possible opportunities so they throw some screen passes he was able to pick up a fifty one yard gain through mobile route which was for a touchdown doing whatever they could to not just run on him up the middle and hope for the best which we saw that happen to failing situations for Barclay specifically in overtime where he ran into big run defenders and was not able to get anything. Stop buying land scrimmage but when you put him in space and give him some room to operate he can make people miss he can pick up some speed can use acceleration to make plays which is very rare of a talent that he has is that acceleration that agility that elusiveness being able to pick up full speed in less than a yard or a few yards or so and even acknowledged that next gen stats pointed out that he had the fourth fast felt fourth fastest top speed of any player. On that sixty seven yard touchdown run in the first quarter which was twenty point five a four so that speed exhilarated is very evident saquon Barkley and they finally were able to do that. I'm going to say this that whatever coach comes in next. They're gonNA see stuff like that and they're gonNA know. Hey we gotta give the ball to this guy thirty times a game and he's going to. He's going to set us up for some serious victories. Yeah you mentioned that acceleration and even though he had the fourth fastest top speed me. Something that is even more insane is Barkley. Had Three of the top twelve fastest plays plays fastest top speed record so far this week and this does not happen often to my memory which I admit occasionally can occasionally can be faulty. Usually not too bad. I've never been able to link the New York giants and mythbusters on a podcast but mythbusters wants tested the myth that a human being can out accelerate an indycar and they found out if you are a trained sprinter an elite level athlete that is true through Barkley had the tenth fastest rotten this week reaching a top speed of twenty point two one miles per hour. He did that on a twelve yard run. He reached reached over twenty miles an hour in thirty six feet. That is to me utterly insane explosiveness that is one or two steps and you're at top speed that level of acceleration and explosiveness and insane athleticism is. Why the bring it all back is why we are constantly questioning? Why the giants don't get him the ball in space and harping on their need to do so his huge career day? It was a big reason why and I would argue the biggest reason why the giants were able to win today and put up as many points as they did. Our next positive that we have is the run on defense for the giants which was underrated but still was very important in this game. Now the Redskins don't have a very good offensive line which noted in the preview show additionally they don't have the Best Maxim Peterson is towards the end of his career. Chris Tomson is more of a receiving Mac they did try to work him in and got him some decent carries but they were able to hold the redskins run offense to only eighty yards and three point one yards per carry. We're able to see a lot of penetration rebel to see a lot of big plays from all of those guys that they brought in. They spend all that money and assets on to have a long that defensive line. It was just an overall strong effort which has been building up over the past few weeks and it really culminated with today's performance. As I mentioned before the giants did what they have to do. which is something they haven't haven't done throughout this year? Really there have been too many instances where their team and in this case their defense. It has given struggling units new life in this case the giants were able to really win. The line of scrimmage have good good discipline in run defense. They tackled well. They still gave up two touchdowns including a really historic one for Adrian Peterson and Kudos to him on that he joins some really elite company in the record books but if there was one bright spot for the giants on defense it was absolutely their run. Defense run defense came to play the secondary in the past. Defense did not exactly have a great performance which we're going to discuss in the negatives still it was very necessary to point out that those big bodies upfront. Along the line of scrimmage have been improving and getting better and turning into a very tough strong unit over the past few weeks and understandably they haven't played the best teams then. They're playing the eagles run offense. They were playing the dolphins and the this week they put the Redskins skains but besides that though seeing them work cohesively as a good unit is something that can be built upon into the next year so the linebackers are still up up in the air. We don't know if Alco Alex Ogle tree will be back or if it'll even be starting if he does come back wait to see what Ryan Connolly's able to do if they decided to bring somebody in if you have the right linebacker packers defensive line that has the potential that this one does. They could be doing stuff like this every single week. Not allowing a team to over eighty yards is a pretty big deal and especially especially when you saw what those three point one yards per carry meant was first and second down if they were running the ball they were limiting them to short gains. So that made things second can an eight making it very very tough for Dwayne Haskins and then eventually case keenum to operate with a lot more room in distance. Get that I down. Finally the last positive that we have. And we obviously need to talk about Daniel Jones's performance again understandably not against a very good defense but his performance was very good specifically because of his decision making ability to make the right decision on his throws and then the time that that was given to him.

"Shorter uh shorter passing routes and along anything along those lines just use that as a change of pace because that also worked very very well for the jets when they beat the cowboys that is a place where play play action could come in to come into play just hugely especially may be used Daniel Jones's legs through some RPO concepts or or maybe even read option though you don't really you really don't want Daniel Jones running with the ball just from a longevity perspective but what those concepts are useful for slowing down a pass rush so if you can get the defense thinking about multiple things at once are they are the giants running the ball are they throwing the ball all is it going to be a short passer deep pass if you can get the defense thinking instead of played then you can take those shots and that's a place where you could would have Darius slate and show up you could have ingram show up saquon Barkley down the field on a wheel route I was thinking that exactly and you put the words you took the words right out of my mouth and I I was thinking that the giants don't really run a ton of wheel routes with Barkley but maybe that works in the situation maybe split him out wide and allow him to be a playmaker because it doesn't seem like anyone on that cowboys defense has done a good job of covering running backs something else that works specifically in the in the Red Zone that I've seen in the past few games is is finding minding your tight end Dallas scored a touchdown and a few opponents they also were able to find touchdowns with their tight so getting the ball ingram if they're in that red area might might be a valid option for them and it would be nice to see Ingram kind of reemerge as a threat after really to kind of quiet not great weeks from him it would be very nice to have Evan Ingram have a big game game this Monday against the Dallas cowboys now we're going to transition to the defensive.

"So we're going to talk a little bit more about wrinkle fillers, and we call them wrinkle fillers there's so much more. It's the second most popular procedure in all of cosmetic surgery, following of course, boats hawks which is formerly called botulinum toxin Boateng's is actually just one of four different brands of that Botula Lynam toxin and the wrinkle fillers while there's lots of them. Now, there's juvenile and a whole family of juvenile in products and wrestling and their products and Belo tarot and a whole bunch of others that will maybe talk about tonight. But hopefully, you'll ask me a question about them eight hundred three to one zero seven ten we're also going to talk about I don't might be the concept of the mommy makeover. That is so many plastic surgeons talk about that. But I'm gonna tell you why I don't think the mommy makeover is a good idea at least not a good idea to do in one procedure. And I stand maybe not quite alone. Certainly in a minority of plastic surgeons because so many plastic surgeons would love to do the, mommy makeover. Because it's a big day in the operating for everybody. But I believe in safety. I, and I don't think that a a long procedure that combines a tummy tack with a breast augmentation or breast lift is uniformly safe. You know, I think separately they're just fine. And we can we can do these in two different procedures. But that's what the mommy makeover is. And and people talk about that. But I'll tell you why later in the show why think it's not the best idea to have a mommy makeover at least in one day. All right.
