"And like did we know like they did what they did to barcelona now granted like we've come to learn more about barcelona but when that game happened. Barcelona seemed to be okay. They were playing well domestically and then that game occurred and it just seemed like that was a turning point in the early part of barcelona season that they have yet to recover from from the absolute beatdown that they took it was three on the scoreline. I mean anyone who watched that game to felt way worse than that. It was even more dominant so i mean i don't know i'm i'm in right now on farm muda put okay. I've got one more on. Men's squad has been announced for their upcoming world cup qualifier. So we'll do some of that. Got a nice mail bag as well so still a lot to do. Don't don't go anywhere. Oh back now on caught offside. Us men's squad has been announced. I'm excited. There's there's a few things i want to talk about so i kind of you know. Obviously we'll talk about these games in greater detail when they happen but just looking at the squad. There's a couple things that stood out to me first of all obviously no crystal and no geoana. Those are glaring absences becoming increasingly frustrating. That like like we talked about during the last set of qualifiers that this is the moment like the era is here of all these brilliant young players that are playing prominent clubs in europe. But if they're not healthy that ever this is what we've been waiting for and it's kind of like we're not being able to see it and take advantage of this moment Granted this is all just small individual spots. The big thing is If they do qualify you want these guys healthy for the world cup but it is still like just as a fan. I just want to see it. I wanna see the the eleven but preferred eleven So you know. I get it. I understand plain these. "joe sergeant" Discussed on The Jordan Harbinger Show

"The most productive people companies and organizations they don't merely act differently. They view the world and their choices in profoundly different ways. What is the distinction here. Because of course we know to be more productive. We do need to act differently. We do need to set up systems. We need set up stopgaps and calendar systems reminders and alarms and efficient processes and automate things and outsource things. What are these other organizations these other people. What are they doing. What are they viewing. And how are they viewing things that make them so much more effective so let me answer that in a couple of different ways so one of the things that we know about the most productive people is that they tend to perceive choices where others see just chores right. The first chapter in smartvestor better looks at at what we know about the science of self motivation because we know that your ability to motivate to do hard tasks. that's something that the most productive people haven't spades. They managed to plow through that email in box. Even though it's a real drag faster than other people and the way that they do that the way that they motivate for that is that they look for choices where others might not perceive them and so what am i giving. examples of. This is the marine corps about fifteen years ago. The marine corps changed how does basic training and what they did. Is we all think of the marine corps is a place where you go and basic training to learn obedience and discipline and that's still a big part of basic training but what this guy named charles krulak who is the head of the marine corps did is he started forcing all of the recruits to make choice after choice after choice so in your first week of basic training. It's pretty typical that you go into the mess hall. You have a big lunch. All of the other units leave. And then you're joe sergeant says to you now you need to clean the mess hall and if you're a recruit your eighteen year old. Who doesn't really know what they're doing. You say okay. So we're the cleaning supplies and he says it's not my job. Tell you supplies. And you say should i throw away the hamburgers the leftover hamburgers. Should i put them in the fridge. And he says look. It's your job to figure that out. And what he does is he. Forces people to start making choices to start seeing choices where otherwise they might not even realize that they exist. This is within psychology known as developing an internal locus of control or a bias towards action. The people who are best able to self motivate or the people who look for choices that they can make make them feel like they're in control so for instance when someone's replying to all those emails which is like you know like a real pain right. Have an inbox full of emails. You've got gotta deal with it boring. You don't wanna do it. People who look for some type of choice they can make right away. That helps them get motivated to start so if someone says like hey. Can you have lunch tomorrow. Typing as your first sentence love to have lunch. But i'd like us to have indian food or can you meet tomorrow at eleven o'clock. I can meet you at eleven o'clock but i'm only going to stay for twenty minutes. I gotta be out of there by eleven twenty by making choice that makes you feel in control. It's much easier to activate those parts of your neurology where motivation resides and that works really well for small tasks turn a chore into a choice and it's easier to get that shore up the other thing that really productive people do. Is they understand that. The way to motivate themselves for long term tasks is to force themselves to ask why. Why am i doing this thing. One professor i was talking to in particular. This guy is a hd. Md in oncology and. He told me that he hates doing. Most of all is grading students papers. He finds it insanely boring. It's just like this like haski has to do. He hates it and so what he does. Every time before he starts reading the students paper he goes through this mantra. Which is he says to himself. Okay if i sit down and a great all these papers then. The university from collect tuition dollars if the university can click tuition dollars. Then they can fund my research in the lab and if they can fund my research lab. I can try and solve the problem of cancer. And if i can solve the problem of cancer i can say millions of people's lives so by grading the students paper. I am saving millions of people's lives. Now what's interesting about. This is that first of all. That's kind of ridiculous face right. Yeah it's a little bit reductio ad absurdum there but second of all a guy who has an md phd the fact that he has to go through this mantra to motivate himself is a clue to how people who are generally productive. See the world differently. They have mantras like that. They forced themselves to ask why they remind themselves why. This boring task is so important. Because it's connected somehow to our deepest aspirations and our deepest valleys that's how the most productive people see the world differently. They understand our brain is something that we can choose to manipulate. The we can shoes. How much control we feel towards the world. We can choose how we run a process of innovation to become an innovation broker to speed up the process of creativity. They see opportunities to control themselves. That other people don't even proceed. That's how they see differently in. That's why there's so much more productive joy listening to the jordan harbinger show with our guest. Charles duhig we'll be right back..

"Mean can commit hate her andrew. First of all he initiates the move That's sorry when he sets up. Okay i'll get to the aronson. Gold the calmness where he he does the one thing we talked about that the. Us can't do enough. If you don't have number ten the turnovers a big thing for me turns the ball over drives right at them. Fix it outside to irons and really calmly. Perfect way on the past. An iron centers buries it. It's so cool and calm from him. He did the one thing josh and couldn't do on the first goal he holds off. Defender holds them off uses strength and fix it on for puteh sick. I'm we're up the field we're going and we're talking and we're getting at the heart of the honduran. Defense the header. It says is first of all. He leaps perfectly dot is a good cross. Heddon don't let anyone tell you it isn't oh who's trying to tell me that. But he had to get his head back and snap back he was if you watch that header I am not saying. He is renaldo. But i gave renaldo first header against the republican violent. I to give it to ricardo peppy for his execution on that header. There it was. It was just perfect. Absolutely perfect He didn't have a agree for staff. He was starved of possession. He shane over the bar. But it was. It was a wonderful wonderful performance from. Can i just say this is well in finishing with the positive again one one turner comes up with a huge. Save a massive. Save if that goes in you know that puts the comeback in a while it completely stones the comeback. Maybe there isn't a comeback after that changes the game. Certainly i mean look honduras they were. You could see it. They were getting exhausted out there. They were tiring right before our eyes. So who knows maybe four goals still do still come for the us but also will change the way they play If they take a two one league and you're going to see a lot more time wasting going to see a lot more. You know everyone behind the ball. So yeah it was. It was massive. The peppy thing is interesting. We'll talk to jeff about an attack but we've been waiting for a guy in that position to do that like we've been waiting. You know decay over the summer at the gold cup. Joe sergeant for it seems like the last year and a half or so to put in a performance like that whether it be for the us or his club peppy came in and did it right away. I it does vindicate the decision to start. I felt as if well the me. Why not whether match like event vindicates. With the way things turned out but after an hour it certainly wasn't vindicating. The point being my whole point being is dot is san. Pedro sulu the night to give him as his debut as it turned out yes but surely he should have got twenty minutes against canada's well if he's capable of put not performance and a home game in front of your frontier home. Crowd is a much gentler. Introduction than hey ricardo. Can you be involved in at least three goals as we're one nil down and you have to effectively keep our our campaign live. Yeah i don't know. I hear you but this feels like the wrong moment to us. Starting ricardo peppy is a knock against bear halter. I that that formation that team i formation fine but under saying the presence of peppy in the starting eleven. I don't think today we can sit here and tell you just pay cut feels weird. It's it's not. i'm not saying it's a mistake. But i don't i don't think they should. It should be allowed to vindicate the managers initial selection. That's all i'm saying all right. Well i'll tell you what let's get to jeff right now. He's been standing by very patiently. One of our favorite guys of course to have on the show done so for years now talking to you. Us soccer and he's back with us. Now jeff carlisle. Espn nfc back on the program. Jeff what's up man. How are you doing well guys. are you. Well we're good thankfully at about midnight last night or eleven thirty eastern time last night. It wasn't clear how we were going to be today. But that second. Half as jason. I've been talking about was it was unbelievable and i guess the jumping off point for that specifically with regards to the second half did that. Second half actually. I can't believe i'm asking this. After the summer. He had beating mexico twice. Could that have saved. Greg bear halters job last night. Well if they had lost that game last night i do not think recber holzer would have been fired. And here's why Ernie stewart is not a guy to engage in knee-jerk reaction Not a guy to act on impulse and He he's very much a stay. The course kinda guy. We saw in philadelphia when he was a sporting director there and so But i do think that second half took an immense amount of pressure off of greg holter. You know it. I think in a game was a microcosm of the good and bad that you get with gregg berhalter the first kind of over tinkering. The overthinking kind of putting is in position where they're not in the best position to succeed. I think and i'm thinking of guys like james sands you know. Hey i get. I get tyler adams. Played right back that his club or or or on the right side at his club in the past. And but i don't even think that was the best move for the team and you had a situation where stands in coastal. Were running around and kind of over. Well not now granted. I don't think that was all their fault. I think the formation didn't help them but but then in the second half gregg berhalter gets everything absolutely right that the change in formation subsea brought on and it stunning because they won that game without g arena without weston mckennie without christian pulisic for a good chunk of it and so the guys that came through for them. I mean we talked about depth a lot during the the cycle already and the the has some and they don't necessarily need. These is big named european guys to you know to to be the ones that are to carry the load. I mean you know christian role. Dan i mean he digs out. You know a ball. It gets that Try remember for the third go. I think it was pepi. And then he slides it to a to aaronson scores and You know sebastian jet. I mean he's the proverbial rv for this team. So i mean you just look at all these pieces and You know credit credit berhalter for just recognizing a granted we all saw. We all knew what was going on but he. He made the changes that it needed some eggs so to get back to original question. I don't think he would have been fired. But but man does this five points. Look a heck of a lot better than two points and you know. They're they're looking down at most of the teams in the tagore as opposed to looking up. You touched on something there that i was gonna ask about later but you brought it up so i i figured jumping now and follow up on it. And that is the depth of this team. Because i do feel like for so long we have looked at this. Us team specifically and looked at its top heaviness as being the strength this roster guys playing at uva and barcelona and chelsea and clubs like that and gio raina at bruce dortmund and last night was the first time that i really when that game ended that i really stopped to consider that. Is it possible to strength. This team is not the top heaviness but rather the depth beyond those players. I think so. It sends a message to those players currently playing in europe. That you're spot is not guaranteed you know. Reputation doesn't really count for anything in this competition. And especially if you're west. And i'm sure we'll get to that in a little bit But like i said earlier. John brooks i mean is.

Us team specifically and looked at its top heaviness as being the strength this roster guys playing at uva and barcelona and chelsea and clubs like that and gio raina at bruce dortmund and last night was the first time that i really when that game ended that. I really stop to consider that. Is it possible to strength. This team is not the top heaviness but rather the depth beyond those players. I think so. It sends a message to those players currently playing in europe. That you're spot is not guaranteed you know. Reputation doesn't really count for anything in this competition and especially if you're west virginia. I'm sure we'll get to that in a little bit But like i said earlier. John brooks i mean is.

"They were smart not within striking range. I don't know how many times to hold on on the broadcast. Said too little too far to shoot. It's limited every time and every on the. Us came on the credit. 'cause they were smart to not give up fouls right in and around the box they were physical but there are line of confrontation was just. They were in a low block but their line of confrontation was a little bit higher to not concede dangerous opportunities. Right around there really. Well drilled really So okay so kaelin you're not going five There's questions people have. And i think it's always gonna start at the front income back. Do you think. Joe sergeant starts down in honduras gehlot. The second wants to full. Us head coaching salary. If he's going to answer that question. I think you might honestly just just out of fresh just out of fresher legs. Yes i just think it. Neither striker has been convincing or one. The number nine position. Although we've been every match i feel like the pre-game show is like who's gonna win the number nine position. You know that is still sitting there. Uncapped but i just feel like i think it would be sergeant and the logic behind. It would be that. He has the fresher of the two legs before. Did a good job tonight. I thought relatively speaking. At least battling with donald henry just being a president or a nuisance that that's kind of the same thing we've seen from sergeant so we haven't really seen one of them come in and change a game or really impose their will or finish a chance. And so. i think you go if you're going for. At least we know what one of these guys are getting the same thing out of each of them which is to pressure be a nuisance or occupy space. You go for sergeant. Just because he might have the fresher legs. There is a a cowboy hat shaped wildcard. You could play has not That would be a hell of a thing to to throw the first course Berhalter did conrad. You know conrad's second cat was on the road at el salvador made better sense tonight off the bench. Yeah maybe instead of sergeant just where you're at home it's Know quote unquote must-win. You're looking you're searching for three points. Throw caution to the wind. You put in the uncapped you know teenager. So halen's islands approach to the road game in honduras as yellow. He wanted to throw him in from the start or anything. But i am intrigued and i have. I have seen enough of the other two that feel. That pepi deserves a chance with that. That might take the form of a substitute appearance. But i don't understand what the you know kind of what. The risk is at this point of of putting He's in good form. He scoring goals for his club He's playing weakened weak out. He's one of the hottest strikers in the domestic league. And he's just kinda got that personality. I don't think he would be overawed by. I don't think you have to protect him or he or it would sort of expose him in ways. I i think he would be. I think i would love to see him. Come off the bench..

"When we sort of reflect a art. Somebody who's a bit ourselves and say oh. We didn't do that thing right on such a bad person. I'll never be ready in like that. And you engage in the sort of salads almost sound defeating and you're attached to that sound defeating waste. You know that sort of it's like joe sergeant in your head as like you know you to do it right. You got her do it again. You do it so hard. We develop more compassionate. Mind when you deflect outta be sorta that blame game. It's never played the blind guy. You know if you're looking at your so at your emotions you're looking at the way back in. If you play the blame game you will never learn. We need to take responsibility. And taking responsibility means not blame me and not to blame somebody else so playing the laptop or whatever the thing is to look at this did not work out. It doesn't matter. I didn't say look at it and ask why it didn't work out. What i said was look at it and think of a better way or a different way to act next time. So we're not looking the. Oh god on stupid. I always do that. That's not going to help us. What we need to do is think of a different way to act whether it was your vote whether it was somebody else. it's irrelevant. It didn't work so what will work. What can i try next. So then he takes away these land game and so would you say that. The essence of any reflection is started to become better. That's the core fundamental value because that is the point of the section so that you can become better and that's the central thing we should always remember. When will meditating reflecting is to just objectively. Look at how we can do things differently. Not to blame anybody because again. That's not going to yield to anything. That's just it's that easy to blame anybody. It's harder to learn grow. Yeah yeah we have to responsibility so what you need to think is the day. I want to be a lesson than i was yesterday. And tomorrow i want to be oedipus niamh guy. It is a lifelong journey. There is no time we can then done back and back doesn't happen. Believe me i've been doing it for forty five years. It doesn't happen so it's a lot of times work but the more that you do it the more the you change the more you grow the more you know you. If you know you then you'll be able to sort out your thinking process your your actions your emotions all of that. You'll be out to work out if you not getting so just waiting times. Introduce yourself to your so. That's a wonderful line. Introduce yourself to yourself. I think amorphous go on things on autopilot without realizing what we are. Why we're doing it and so on. I have another question which is related to Being in the present moment. Which is that when we often look at the past. I would things in bad we tend to say. Oh look at me. I did that. So amazing are older. That thing i messed up on so bad off you look at the future where you go. You know what. I did this yesterday. I can do it again. D'amato or you go. I did this thing or yesterday. I'm gonna mess it up the motto. So do you think we have to detach ourselves from the positives. Reflect like the positive side end the negative side none. We have to deep bench for me. But i think we have to have that awareness again. The this own just member no memories gonna be trusted again like i said there's so much information going. The the mind has fields so we have so many memories the minds call. Remember the whole thing so you may have gone away for a day and you sit back in your member that oh yeah day and we will up in the mountains in enrolled together and you mind is block out a bit wet Three hours in traffic jam to get and six hours to get back. Your mind is pushed to one side. And just give you this rosy little picture of what a wonderful day. It is so whether you being positive will be negative. I wouldn't believe any already. Because it's only taking snippy cannons econ. Take the holiday. Doesn't have the acetate so maybe look at me. I was great but if he's though catholic probably basing that that was not so great. Or if you look it was wrong. then the beating. That was not so wrong. So what i would say not get to involve tweet. You'll memories done. Believes them to be true. And you're not again. We've a memory if you have a false memory and using. Oh yeah this happened and then the next night yeah this happened and he becomes true even though it never happened so we have to be really careful with when we look back. And we stop believing stuff congratulating ourselves of such a wonderful facet or the opposite so because as memories cannot be trusted. So be careful when you're looking back. Just keep that in mind. I think this happened. I think that i was good at that. That's a better way of looking at the right. And so if she said that memories can all be ousted how do we reflect accurately yet again if your reflection you have to be capital. That's onside when you reflect every day so done on sunday night. Reflect back of the week because lots of things have happened and you'll members have more time to just know what to do allow in the memory lights to put aside things that you've never focused on before so that's my side do everyday if you need every day you've got more john's getting rights but remember it's all about apple respective even then it's about perspective and that trust because you know the way we see. The world is because of that parents because of society because his school and because of that friends with nazi world. We're not seeing reality as it really is. We're seeing our version of reality. So none of this is gonna be a hundred percent right. And i think that's that's really one from the point of that out because i mean a lot of the times that we we see the way other see us is different from the bbc ourselves ourselves. I mean i was reading this thing. Where michael phelps. Who's one of the most decorated with kids of all time on his broken water records. Is i get on twenty gold medals. That was boy when he was so worked up with excited. He said i. I did not like i was. I could not live with myself. And this is one of the greatest athletes that's ever set stage in the world so it's a lot about perspective and so let's not pressure that to be the one of the best athletes in the world. That's putting a lot of pressure on yourself. So yeah you need to be careful the bat your expected you know the way you see yourself in the way of the people in the way you see yourself. You can do something about that. The way other people's the out can be that's just the that's just ben viewpoint so we can't control that so we can get you to buy out people. Think about it. But i would be worried if you thinking that i you know you're a bad us and then that you need to look at is more important to you. Trump's than you than the accent how other people see. That's just the upbringing and dan cones respected. And so on. I i would like to ask one first question. Which is what inspired you to get into buddhism and mindless was that any particular life event in always your journey been throughout these last forty five years. So i'm in from a young age. I was born in christian family.

"But you don't renegotiate in the moment right and the reason you don't is simply because that just that violates the whole spirit of why this works because if you can always renegotiate in the moment to control by then by definition in power struggle. There's no control right. You're not giving control because it's always up for debate right. That's that's why this will fail about the relationship but that exchange right negotiating afterwards always acceptable. So that's where the the submissive has equal power to the dumb just day they submit but you know full well tomorrow. We're talking about this. And you can negotiate to have those controls be present when you're only gonna be playing on weekends when you're together and then when you're separated. You're fully autonomous people. I'd have to check in. I don't have to. I can make my own decisions and one hundred check with you on what i'm going to wear today. You know whatever the situation is. It's all about the negotiation. There's not a single not one rule that must be followed by every party is every areas up for negotiation. And if you're a part there is no like you can't buy guidebook to say here's what you do because how often do you see the person. How often do you talk on the phone. Do you date other people do you. What areas do you have a say in these are gonna come up. I mean you probably aren't gonna have control over someone's clothing every day if you're in another state right and less unless you want to. In which case you take the steps you have to bring out the do the daily zoom meeting where you go to the closet with the person are sense you know three outfits laid out on the bed and let metro pick long or but if you are living together that becomes a really simple thing to do that. If that's something that you agree upon negotiate but if being part you you typically won't do certain things but you certainly can i. I will say that. You asked for $5 so he could buy a bag. That's what he tweeted says What if you see big for robbing an old lady? What if you see Big bird getting beat up by cookie Monster for smashing Elmo? And sure enough, there was you and floor wax broadcasting life at Big's. What's Biggs? What was this in a restaurant or a bar? Or what was it? It's kind of like a walmart with set up like Wal Mart, but it was called Biggs in Thorton. I don't remember ever doing a show at night on the radio. We did the morning show. Yeah. Okay. We may have done that, maybe as a promotion. Right for Biggs. Okay? And then we met. What? We didn't matter, But I was standing in front of your your your little set up there. "So let's start with a problem just I just want to recap the problem with that. And then what you've you folks listening to do. I think we all agree. It has one thing in America. We all agree on right now is a robo calls are driving us nuts. I mean we. Right, okay. And just just let me give you some numbers, it's sort of put it into respective because despite the princes from the FCC and the telecom companies, the hearings in congress phones, keep ringing, and ringing, and ringing, as a company called you mail that's out on the west coast, and it makes a robo-call blocking app and they track how many robo calls are coming in. They figure that Americans were bombarded with about forty eight billion robocalls last year. Am I that is up fifty seven percent from twenty seventeen and they estimate that about thirty seven percent were classified as scams now so far, this year, we between January and April, we've had more than twenty billion robo calls. We're on our way to another record year. And now about half of those are believed to be scam related. So in the words of Alice cozy who's you mail CEO? He told me we're, we're Email was fifteen years ago where half of all the messages that came in were spam and your Email box was useless. Let me just give you one more number. Then we're going to be SEC. So I got a time line here. So in two thousand sixteen. This is according to you mail. There were twenty nine billion robocalls, 2017 thirty and a half billion then it exploded last year. Forty seven point eight forty nine billion robocalls, and this year, the first four months of the year twenty point two billion robocalls. I think we all agreed is completely out of hand now. Herb is there a reason for this incredible increase? I think they find it it's working believe it or not, despite the fact that how annoying, we are some people do respond to robocalls. It's incredibly cheap. It's incredibly easy to do. They can be overseas and as we'll get to in a minute, they can actually do what's called spoofing, the Colo ID number to make people think there's somebody they're not, which we'll get into it a minute, but that's why it's happening. It's easy to do. It's cheap to do and it and people are falling for it. They continue to fall for these with the IRS we're going to arrest you or social security. Your account was just blocked. We're going to lower your credit card interest rate. Whatever it is. These robo calls are doing people, keep falling for it, and smart people because it gets you when you're not thinking they get you on your off guard, and it just makes you hear afraid and you do silly things when you're frayed. So what the FCC has been dealing with this for a number of years, and they keep talking about how they're doing things. So what they did today is they voted to let telephone companies telecom automatically block, illegal and wanted robo calls from reaching you. Right now. The way it is, is that you have to opt into a call blocking service. They're saying if you can show, this is an illegal robocall, because the number has been spoofed, the no it's fake number or it's coming from number that should not be making outgoing calls, which many of these robocaller do you have the right to automatically block? He's robo calls for years. The telecoms have resisted doing anything because they said that the communications access we have to make every call be delivered. It's up to you. The consumer to decide what to do. So then the FCC couple years at no, you have the right to do that, if the customers as basically nothing happened. Congress had hearings basically nothing happened. So the saying you can do it without the customer, asking permission and as consumer reports. In its response today said, this is a great news now all we need is for the telephone companies to do something. And we gotta stop talking about giving the power to do something, it, actually got to get off their butts and do something. And, and it's mostly the landline companies that are having many more problems in the cell phone. We're getting many more robocalls on our cellphones. But the cellphone companies are actually do some things landlines doing very, very little, but they all need to do more. And as members of congress has said and consumer reports said and migrate with this. They gotta do it for free. A lot of these companies are, are charging you for the premium service a block robocalls note to pay money for spam blocker. That comes from your from your internet service provider. The deal, don't know. Don't try to make money off of this. You know, just do it because it's the right thing to do for your customers. Yeah. No. I agree with that. That's, that's, that's pretty outrageous, actually that they would they would charge for it. The, the what I'm sorry to interrupt her. The one thing that I that whenever we talk about the robocalls me, personally, I do not answer any phone calls that I don't know. Like if it's if it's if, if it's not a name of the person, who's in my directory, I don't I do not answer it, which is actually the advice that scam players. Give is if you don't recognize the number don't answer it, and let it go to voicemail. The problem is, you've got to be good at answering your voice, because someone will call, you know, those other fifty percent are things you want. It's the airline telling you your flight's late pharmacy telling you your prescriptions ready for refill. Doctors saying don't forget the appointment tomorrow. And a lot of robo calls are good. We it your school calling, and saying school early data. While don't forget, you gotta get your kid or Italy. So if you don't answer it, that's fine. But you gotta be pretty good about checking your voicemail ensure that, that you. And then if it's a robocall for one of these scams things don't return the call. Because as we've talked about before if you do interact with the road. Caller in any way, shape or form their computers. No, they have a live human being somebody who's willing to respond and you'll get even more robo calls. Right. So don't deal with them at all. So the point I was trying to make an a story. It's real. Do we have time, please? Yes. Very interesting. This was a report done by AARP, the fraud fighter network, and they were looking at how a robot Colo's are getting through to people by doing something that's called spoofing. Now they've done this for a while. They can use technology. It's really simple. You can download an app for free or maybe eight dollars and you could just go in there and thirty seconds. What phone number? You're calling from what phone number you wanted to show up on when I call you on your phone doesn't say herb Weisbaum in Bellevue, Washington, it says Internal Revenue Service with at one eight hundred whatever it is ten forty or something like that. And so that's what they've been using the full people will now what they're doing is called neighbourhood spoofing they because they gotta get you pick up the phone if they're gonna scam. You're right people serve the survey from AARP show. The people are much more likely to pick up the phone, if they think is coming from someone of friend, a loved one someone in their area code or so what they do is they either do the area code spoof, the area code from what your where your phone is. So my, my case, they'd be four to five or two. Oh, six Seattle or these side of, of, of Seattle, and then maybe the first couple of digits of the first three digit prefix of your phone. People are much, much more likely to pick up that because they think it's maybe the doctor calling her the pharmacy or the friend or something. So that's what they're doing. And it has had a dramatic impact you're asking why this works? It has a dramatic impact on people answering the telephone. So they're always coming up with some more devious clever thing to do to get us to, you know, to get around our defenses. And that's what they're doing now. So it's again the, the advice is just let it go into voicemail. And then and then, you know, just check your voicemail the other thing they found out. This is really fascinating. And this is why the robocall pitches are starting to change their moving from the reward to the fear that moving from congratulations, Mr. Jalil. You've just went to all paid expense vacation. We're going to lower your credit card rate to Mr. Gilio. This is social security calling your, your account has just been blocked visited Gilio this. The jury duty office at your county courthouse there and Cook County and use Jose show up today. There's a big fine, if you don't pay tonight, the cops are gonna come and rescue that gets people to respond so many more of these robo calls and these bogus called are now shifting to feel factor, which really does get people to, to act as opposed to the, the prize. There's still plenty of them around the prize of the low in the credit card rate, or the vacation, but they're moving to the fear, because that means that they can notify people, and one thing that wasn't in my story, but I got to see it as part of this presentation AARP actually got undercover. Video taken in jail in Texas to show, you how easy it is to commit this crime. There were convicts behind bars in their cell, and there was an FBI plant in there who was recording what they were doing. They were making robocall. They were making calls and robo cold out to speak to people all across the country. Telling them they were calling from social security, and their account had just been stopped or. These are guys in prison in prison, these Crips or bloods, one of the other imprison not supposed to have a cell phone. They were bogus cellphone snuck in by the guards. They were making these calls the guys in his cell, the headphone on. He's got to cell phones. It one cell phone. He's he's like looking up stuff. And the other phone is making the call. So he says he knows he knows like Joe sergeant Dixon was the name of the person in this Lou this woman's the shows department. Yes, this is surgeon Dixon. No, go ahead. Look, look it up go to whatever the name of the county is the. Oh, yeah. That's you. Okay. Now, if you wanted to tech you wanna go go your other phone, your home phone, call the number back, that number it's on the phone. It'll ring to the to the sheriff's department and sure enough, when he the number if you call that number back, it does ring at the sheriff's department. So I mean, this is a pretty clever scam. These guys are doing, but it shows you, you could be behind bars, and you can still ripping people off, and she actually went, unfortunately, and drove to, to stay on the phone with the entire time while she drove to store. Got I tune gift cards and gave them the number. Off the back of a car all the cards. Wow. Hey. I can leave you with before we go to the news on the hour. Nobody in government, the.

"And you go to join the military isn't that when people are leaving the military and absolutely is most people are trying to get out after they do their twenty years there. And that's what happened when I talked to recruiter. I said what's the what's the age limit? He says thirty five so I go to turn and leave. And he says, well, how old are you? And I told him and he says we'll come and talk to me what your motivation for this alight. Until the my story. He asked me if I was smart, and I said, well, I don't know. I'm talking to you at thirty eight years old. You told me I'm smarter not. But I didn't as that. Which is a placement test did really well on that because of my education took a physicality PT test. I crushed that as well. Listen, you're a natural leader, you're thirty eight you're in great shape, and you're incredibly intelligent. He said, she can do whatever you want in the army. I want to join the infantry. He's like what the minute. You. Don't get it. You you have a degree. You could be an officer. You could do all these things. And I said, you don't get it. This is what I want. And if this is not what I get that. I'm just gonna turn around and take another path. So he signed the release and slid it over to many said, hey, it's your life and six months later. I'm getting off the bus basic training get yelled at by Joe sergeants that are you wanna be infantry? I wanted to I wonder follow the same steps as my great uncle. And I knew that as a. As an officer. I wouldn't give it to get into trenches and really do a lot and the large that that that warrior spirit was always there, and frankly, I needed a challenge because I was kinda being mediocre. So I am brace that challenge, and it was I'm Joe my are younger than I am the guys that I'm in basic with our half my age and the first two weeks was a big big challenge for me because I even younger guys were breaking their ankles falling down brick in the wrist. You know, all this up because the the first few weeks are not a picnic binding strikes imagination. Right. But what save me was my mindset in my experience, and my mental resilience and was my once I realize that my body wasn't gonna let me down I continue to push. And that's when I. So. So he you are in basic training. You you've come through that in knocking out geyser much younger than you. Kennedy old on the team and is still showing up at the top level. Would you? You know? How did you look at the world who was the guy who was entering into that? Because it sounds like if I may I don't mean to be rude. But it sounds like a kind of a midlife crisis. I mean, you know, and those kinds of things do bring those on for human beings. So sounds like the sun kind of. Ideological internal turmoil. Going on tell us about that. That's what I'm trying to. I'm trying to understand here that driver. Of course, the the thing was through martial arts. We understand it. There's a lot of plateaus, but there's not limits.
