"A bigger trade for another player, they let Kyle Anderson walk in free agency. And then he ends up signing with the Timberwolves, which is a really nice pickup from Minnesota. Jaren Jackson junior is going to miss the first two months of the regular season three months. We don't know he had foot surgery. He's going to be the same player when he gets back. So I'm yeah, I'm putting the pelicans at number 5. I've decided I was going to make the case from Memphis, but they just dropped out because I'm a little queasy about them to quote the great Joe philbin. Look, I had them at four, but they were a team that as I was thinking about it the way they looked. I think people like Memphis because of because of the way they talk and obviously people like Memphis because a job. Let's just keep it a buck. But their team that really is not afraid. They talk big, but they also do not ever really look afraid. Hell, they beat the stuffing out of the warriors after losing for a game. The same way that we're talking about that game 7. What the sons and Mavs grizzlies had a game like that too, where they just do one by 40 against the warriors in the middle of that series without their best player. I do think there's something to be said though and this is why I'm a little bit lower on them this year and having the fourth is that they wouldn't have been 22 and 5 or 22 and 6 or whatever it was without ja if jaren Jackson junior was hurt. Eric, he was going to miss as much time as he might miss this season. Just because of the simple fact, the reason that they were better statistically without jaws really easy, like it's not a huge, huge mystery. They are really, really, really great defensive team when he's not there. Jaws not a very good defender for all the things he can do. He's not a very good defender yet. So they have less negatives to kind of navigate when he's not out there, defensively. But that that's nullified of Karen Jackson's not out there. They do have other good defenders that can step up and other people that are capable of defending the paint protecting the rim without him there, but not to the extent that he can. We talk about switchability and all sorts of other stuff. Not to mention the offense that he brings to. So it's just hard for me.

"They're going to make them very exciting. Rohan super jacked about a left tackle that has played zero full seasons in the NFL. But no, I am with you. I want to believe I like Mike mcdaniel. I met Mike mcdaniel at the combine and he shook my hand and he said, Conor orr, what is your favorite boat propulsion device? And then because my last name is fantastic. Yeah, I love it. So from that moment, I was like, sold. This guy is very cool. I hope he was by far the number one interaction that I've ever had from meeting a new head coach, which is great. My concern, I think, so I think that Mike mcdaniel was sort of the, what's the completion of the metaphor I'm looking for here? Who is the best kind of pop culture man behind the man? You know, like the guy behind the curtain pulling all this through. Kris Jenner? What's that? Yes. Okay, yes. So he is the Kris Jenner of the Kyle Shanahan offense. I think that he is the mastermind of how all of this fits together. My hope is that he can make that work in Miami long enough to kind of solidify himself there before the outside zone gets stoppable. You know what I'm saying? Does that make sense? Because now 40%, I think, was the estimate I heard the other day of the NFL is running some version of this offense. And I know that's offensive. That would be like the number one psychology professor at Yale and the psychology professor Pomona community college being like, yeah, we both teach psychology. It's like, no, I don't, you know, what Arthur Smith is doing. I mean, Atlanta. I laughed at that joke, but I just like to say I'm not condoning an shout out to Pomona. I'm sure it's a great Pomona is great. I'm not condoning the shade goner has been throwing. Yeah, what's a college I could actually share? Just make fun of northwestern. That's true. Yeah. Yeah, be like northwestern being like, we have a journalism school. Okay guys, yeah. Hilarious. But yeah, that would be like Arthur Smith saying I run outside zone and Mike mcdaniel saying I run outside zone. Two very different things. One guy kind of copied the system and cribbed it. One guy sort of invented the modern version of the system, right? So I have faith, my hope is that it comes to fruition. I think we need more head coaches like Mike mcdaniel, who are personality forward who are not afraid to say things, yes. Yeah. It's all good. Yeah. Yeah. I think it's great. Just the organization needed a vibe shift. And I'm not saying that that's, but again, tua is going to have to prove it this year. Everyone's in agreement on that. They've obviously even stockpiling lots of draft picks. I think frankly, in the event that they need to move on from two, I don't think that's a secret, but the fact that they've given him a coach that actually wants to play him a competent offensive line, competent weapons, those are things that he did not have. And I just want to double down on something I saw, shout out to Jason McCourty, who I think said this on NFL network the other day, but, you know, I've seen people say, you know, this quarterback doesn't need that or, you know, how many years did Russell Wilson complain about his offensive coordinator in Seattle or he had someone like Doug Baldwin not to mention the defense he had early in his career. How much more did Josh Allen improve once the bills got Stefon Diggs? I think Anthony Lynn gets criticized for maybe some of the in game management. He had in San Diego, but was an up and coming offensive mind when Justin Herbert was drafted. There are ecosystems that young quarterbacks need. And I think it's long overdue for two and a half this kind of support system around him in Miami. You wanted to see me miss swinton? Have you been hearing about the new government modernization efforts? AI, RPA's data science, things are changing at this agency, and people will need new skills. I'd like you to get some training. Top Gun: Maverick is one of the greatest movies ever made, see it on the biggest screen possible. You got yourself a deal. Tom Cruise, Top Gun: Maverick. What's your Russell Wilson take? I think this looks like it's going to be a disaster. It's like wow. It's just like an uncanny valley situation. It doesn't look right when he's in the uniform. Why is he so thick now? Like, when did he get so thick? A little bit on the heavy side. A little bit on the heavy side. I'm getting just veered very weird off putting just feelings coming off from that entire situation. I don't know what he was thinking. I mean, not that Pete Carroll is like Don Shula or something, but I don't know why it didn't work out there and I'm not getting a good feeling about this Bronco situation. Interesting. Wow. What's the conventional do people? I understand that he's I think he's a fantastic quarterback in the level of consistency he's obviously had for a long time is remarkable. At the same time, he has struggled now for stretches of the last couple seasons of the United States at the injuries, but I'm curious what the conventional wisdom is about him these days. I would say, I'm excited the Broncos new head coach Nathaniel Hackett was, I guess I can say Sports Illustrated's number one head coach in candidate last year and we profiled him before the season. I have a lot of that's another one that's curious to me. He was the guy who he was in Jacksonville for a little bit, right? And brought Blake bortles to the brink of a Super Bowl, which is like, did he really do that? I have some doubts about a guy who I don't think that Jaguar's offense was ultimately very good. And now he's like, it's like when the dolphins hired Joe philbin and it's like, let's go get the guy who co chair and Rogers. And then maybe you find out that Aaron Rodgers, maybe you find out that Aaron Rodgers had a little bit more to do with it. I'm not saying that Hackett can't be successful and it helps to have Russell Wilson in place already. I'm just I'm not sold on a guy with his resume. Man, we got the dean of Pomona college put us on a list now Nathaniel Hackett's gonna put us on a list. And this is like those Jaguars, that Jaguar seem ultimately proved to be very bad, like it was clearly a fluke playoff run. So how do we really judge his quote.

"All right, AFC playoffs, KC is in the driver's seat at 11 and four and they've looked pretty unstoppable. Edward saler came back, but now he's out. What's wrong with do we know? What's wrong with them? I don't know. Some sort of shoulder thing? Yeah, they're just they're just sick of beating up on team. So he's like, I'm just going to sit out for a little bit. Yeah, they have. They could still lose a game, right? And when the get the one seat, I'm looking at it. They're at censor at Denver. They'll win one of those. They're going to be the one seed. They'll get a nice buy. Then you have Tennessee who won a really impressive game on Thursday. AJ Brown just basically took the game over. Sam Frank couldn't cover him. Jimmy G made two bad plays. And I bet on San Francisco that game and I'm watching it going. I don't understand. I can't believe we're not going to win this game. Right. I feel like I made the right pick. And all of a sudden, Tennessee stealing it, which they've done four times this year. I think maybe, you know, I think people would look up to us if we claimed the team that we were full of shit about all year long. And it might be the San Francisco forty-niners. Because we zigzag with them, right? Right? Wasn't the big bit for three weeks. I know you don't check your man. Shanahan. No, Shannon, winning record. Right. People really want an explanation for this. So you and Bill can't jump ship. You can't for a month go over Shanahan's record, how it compares to Bruce castle and all the worst, but whoever I don't even remember who we had him up against. And then jump on Jimmy G and say that they're going to be the toughest out and how you don't want your cowboys face in them. And even in that game against Tennessee, I went back and forth three times. I'm like, damn, this team looks good. Deebo Samuel is the best, whatever you want to call him in the league, running back or wide receiver after contact. I don't want anything any part of it. And then it's true. It's like, Jimmy G throws up four balls for grabs and you just have to hope that two of them are batted down and maybe one of them lands in the opposing breadbasket. That's it. But yeah, they're a little bit of trouble. I don't think they make it now. I think they're now they make it. No, I think the eagles when they're next too, and who else is there? So 5 teams are in, right? Yeah. The eagles will make it, and I think can we not, can we not cry on the eagles yet? I'm still not sold on that. No, I don't think they're good either. They're at Washington. They're going to play Dallas and I have a feeling that games aren't going to matter. I think they do that. I do have a Shannon update. Shannon is now 37 and 43. You can't do this. I think we just have to say we're full of shit with the fortune. No, he dropped he dropped below Joe philbin. He still had a dick Nolan and Walt Michaels. No, listen, to see the season takes forever. Of course we're going to change our mind that teams. And we still have two weeks left. That's true. I thought it was over. I've changed my opinion on ten teams 5 times. The only thing I'll credit Shanahan with, I think, at this point is with what he's done with the ball Samuel. He's like, we need this guy touching the ball without any risk of an interception. So he's going to take some carriers in the backfield. We're going to watch him cook. And he's like, all right, can we do this all the time? Like, mom, now he's got to actually wind up at wide receiver and gym and she's going to have to film the ball a couple of times. Like, oh man, there's really no way to avoid it. No, not really people will notice eventually. So that I'll give Shanahan credit more, but the Walt Michaels thing, God, you can keep going. I don't know. Maybe just a little bit with them. He does that thing where he scripts the first 15 plays or whatever. And they look unbelievable. Maybe we should just bet the niners first quarter. The rest of the way. Oh, interesting. And then once I go through those 15 plays, all of a sudden Jimmy G started into three guys. I still like their talent. And, you know, you lost on the charges today with the Texans. But the Chargers are missing. And this is why I stayed away from the charge the way I got killed all week. The Chargers were missing Derwin James. I know. Mike Williams Austin Eckler. Joey Bosa. But at some point, every team has what, 6, 7 good guys, and then everyone is the same. First of all, I think you're right. But it's impossible to handicap these things. Shouldn't it be the reddest of red flags when you see a team as 22 out because of COVID? Are these all just special teams players the 22 that are out for Houston? Like all of a sudden, Davis mills. And by the way, do you think that's going to be Belichick's biggest mistake taking Mac Jones over Davis mills? That could be that's going to come back. We were taking Davis in the second round. We're sending this in the NBA where these guys who never play come in. I was watching okay tonight. They had this guy Aaron Wiggins so I'd never heard of in my life. We're at like 24 points. He was a shooting guard. He looked really good. And I guarantee we never would have seen him all year if COVID hadn't demolished every roster. But maybe they're just more talented people at the pro level than we know who could at least be like adequate. It's very strange in a year where, you know, okay, so you had 5 quarterbacks drafted. A Trey Lance never made it, right? But the four and none of them really like Mac Jones stepped up front for offensive player of the year. But it was still lackluster numbers, right? And then even with the MVP race, it's like, ah, Rogers, some weeks he wants it. Oh, the Brady didn't look great. Quarterback play is very strange. And then you got to look at Davis mills coming out there, or like Lamar Jackson could be the third best quarterback on the ravens this year for all we know. But yeah, the Davis mills, the son of a bitch. I told you that my best bet of the year was Texans and Lions both on their four and a half wins and fandel gave me plus two 54. I have to sweat that out..

"Seattle's interior airline can hold up starting guard Damian Lewis looks like he's out. Gabe Jackson, Ethan poetic haven't really had the years, Seattle's envisioned. But if the interior of Seattle's online can hold up against Allen in pain and initiation there is some real edges here for Seattle's offense time. Before we get to the other side of the ball, some breaking news and we understand why we saw that wave of saints money comes in. Mike McCarthy will be unavailable to coach the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, testing positive for the big C you do wonder how that will impact the rest of the cowboys coaching staff as well. Although I would make the claim that no Mike McCarthy means you should probably upgrade the Dallas Cowboys in a one game sample size. But that's the reason that report breaking a little while ago. There was also the report that came in Thursday there was other guys there on the offense that had it, right? I think Joe philbin and a couple other position coach guys had it, so it looks like it's kind of going through the locker room, so to speak. Yeah, and we'll see what players may or may not be out there for them as well. Just to kind of contextualize some of that before we finish up with one of their biggest rivals in the division. And so you talked about the Seattle offense potentially having an edge against the Washington defense. It's been a bit of a paper Tiger. On the other side of the ball pane, Washington appears to have found its swagger at least for a couple of weeks. With Taylor, one 27 passer rating since week ten, more than 8 and a half yards per attempt since that time period and a 78 percent completion percentage, plus you also have a couple of potential weapons back in the mix for the Washington football team that should be able to put some pressure on the Seahawks defense. Yeah, I mean, Scott Turner really used the biweek and he's made some clear adjustments. The last two games, Washington 6th in EPA per play despite facing the box and Panthers defenses who are like two top 7 defenses. There should be an advantage with JD mckissick and Antonio Gibson as pass catchers out of the backfield. Seattle's giving up the most receiving yards to running backs this season. Bottom 8, and receptions allowed almost 85% of running back targets have been caught against Seattle. They're giving up 10.4 yards of reception two running back. One of the least efficient defenses defending running back pass. So look for those two guys. To get into the full catch and balls, it sounds like, as you mentioned, Washington is going to get some of the studs back on offense, all signs point to Logan Thomas Curtis Samuels being back tonight. Let's see the Curtis Samuels thing. It sounded like at one point they wanted to shut him down and have surgery. He's kind of fighting back now that they're back in the mix a little bit. I don't know how healthy he is slogan Thomas should be good to go though. Two things would concern me just to touch. You have Washington starting tackle Sam Cosby out. And starting center Tyler Larson is also out. Larson was already a backup center. So Washington is down to their third string center tonight. If you also look at the defenses Washington's played, they faced a bottom ten schedule of run defenses. The only win Washington has had this season against the top ten run defense. Was out of the buy against Tampa Vito vey was injured in that game. I say that because Seattle is 9th in defense of Russia efficiency. So let's see what this looks like if the ground game isn't going. I'm also interested to just see the approach of Scott Turner. Again, out of the buy, he's changed some things. He's been spades the last two games. And, you know, you get Logan Thomas, you get Curtis Samuel back if there are a 100% healthy, you pair those guys with McLaren. We already talked about McKesson Gibson out of the backfield catching passes. There is an advantage through the air here for Washington, on paper, right? They face one of the 5 toughest schedules of passing defenses. You get Seattle 25th in past defense of efficiency who is without Trey Brown, who's out for the year. He's a starting corner. So there is some opportunities here through the air for Washington. This is just one of those tough games. There's some internal issues for both teams. There's some things going on. The number here. Seattle minus one feels like the perfect line. We made Seattle minus two and a half on a neutral. Monday Night Football. I know you mentioned some of the trends they do not favor Washington. It's just not a good history there. Probably something there. This is a completely different team, different organization, different coaching staff, different quarterback, like everything's changed. They're like, I would still maybe give Washington one one and a half for home field. So again you're kind of like in this Seattle minus one range, which again, I think is probably the perfect number. I know, again, my guys were saying Seattle would come in. It did a little bit. They're now a favorite at some of the sharper shops. Let's see where this ultimately closes. Todd just kind of for full blown discrepancy here. I think in our contest, we're forced to pick 5 games for the contest. And so most weeks pick four and 5, sometimes even the third best pick. We have doesn't actually make the personal card where you're investing large sums of money. I think Seattle was like 7th on the Lin list for us this week. So that's just how we're viewing this game. The situation feels like Seattle, and if you can get Russ and DK on the same page, they're probably going to show a game effort here. But it just kind of like looking at the schedules. I don't know. I don't think I'm going to have a penny on this game, unfortunately. Yeah. Seattle's a team that we've seen play its best under the bright lights when Russell Wilson was at its best in Pete Carroll was at the peak of his coaching tenure up there. But you do wonder to your point, how much some of the off the field stuff and a marriage headed for divorce in the not so distant future will play itself out? Can they let bygones be bygones at least for 60 minute sample size and realize some of that potential? Often times you want to try and bet on known commodities or when you feel you have an edge if there isn't one, there's no reason to run to the window and pay 11 to ten to flip coins. Anything else pain, you'd like to add on this particular game before you announce some of the big winners in our bet the board contest. No, I think that's it. Let's get into it. As always, we, Jesus, we we. We run maturity. Unbelievable. Maturity office scales this morning around the betha board corporate offices. I'm looking at the screen here and off track mind. So yes, three Apple podcast winners. We say this all the time, go to Apple podcasts, leave a 5 star review, leave a nice little comment, and you get automatically entered into these contests. Well, that's how you know these are completely random. It's an automated system. I was in a good mood Gators 82 82. We could have certainly just weeded that out and said, let's run that automator one more time. But no, Gators 82 82 is the winner. The third winner of the hundred bucks cash..

"Herber pick it has pursed thirteen career games. That is unbelievable. What a play by digs on route. You don't intercept. These passes diving cowboys. What a start and california perfect play. Perfect play by trayvon. Alex says study turning towards dr sherry says digs. I mean kevin says digs. Interception was amazing. I agree this. This is what we want to see. And i took a lot of heat from you guys in our post game show last year because i didn't throw a parade for trayvon's interception against the bucks so it was a tip all whatever but this is what we wanna see. This is the type of play. We wanna see cowboys. corners bragging on the ball jumping in front passes deflecting them obviously but intercepting them. That is what we want to see. It seems like cowboys have finally unlocked. That and trayvon dix. I don't have this person as a winner but thanks alex. Far super chat winner. Joe philbin joe. Film doesn't get talked about a lot. Obviously but he oversees the cowboys offensive line and again we talked about tarrant steel and that this was a really clean game for the guy was offensive. Line as a whole still. Not the best game for tyler. Beyond but joe philbin definitely had the cowboys offensive line ready to go against stout chargers front. We all thought that this was going to be a long day for the cowboys offensive line against the charges against joey bosa and so the fact the joe philbin had everybody ready to go. I think impressive so shout out to him. Let's see here. David sanderson still had a good game. I agree let's go. Jose says what about armstrong. He did okay. You know what. Jose you might have been reading what i was doing. 'cause honorable mention dorrance armstrong seriously dorrance armstrong first game without demarcus lawrence. We all kind of believed in the preseason. I mean really really really nice performance from him to really get things off a strong start in the games without demarcus lawrence. It will be exciting to see whether you can do with randy gregory back on the opposite side of him. That is what we're all looking forward to. Obviously but it really again. There's winners there's losers as honorable mentions. I thought doorns armstrong. He was an impact. I mean he made an impact he was certainly in the backfield. The lot disrupting things. That just herbert was trying to do. So yeah kudos during samsung dairy. And thank you for the super chats. Trayvon digs you. Better stay away you talking to media the trayvon defenses. No joke talking to quarterbacks are they will only get better. The more they play together curse has to start again. Gironde curse really solid game. I think that you can make an argument that the most impressive winner was ron. Maybe the most unexpected winner because we all kind of expect you know. The big names do well. We kind of expect micro parsons to do. Well we all expect those things but you want to come in and just show about a nowhere and be a winner for the always by the way if you have sunday night football on which you definitely have behind us because you're definitely part of our post game show They're showing the highlights from this game. "Get it. You have a phone download. It get your entry and it locks a couple of minutes before opening kickoff between the dallas cowboys and the tampa bay bucks. We're gonna be talking cowboys as we preview the nfc east before we get to that. Well we should. we'll do a little hard knocks. Recap we gotta hit. On this mac jones story ryan mansions mentions blowing up in my uncle mccorkell. He has been named the starter cam. Newton got caught. Which who saw that coming. Oh i did. I gave you. Newton wasn't the starting quarterback matt jones rookie of the year. Now hopefully got down on it. When i gave it out because i gave it out at eleven to one twelve to one in some places now in looking at like four fifty four hundred. It's crazy the value that is swung listening on props up right now and make a guaranteed profit or he could just let it ride but hopefully you went for to. Hopefully you went for two and and kept yourself a mac jones rookie of the year ticket. I know i'm sitting on mine. I'm not letting this thing out of my hands. I mean this is so obvious they. They drafted mack jones in the first round. He looked so much better than cam. Newton in the preseason cam. Newton chooses the not vaccinated. So you get stuck. In the cova protocols misses more time and belichick just wants nothing to do with it. I'm not surprised at all that he got caught. Yeah i mean i. I like how people are figuring out that maybe football coaches. Don't want this bullshit distraction. Yeah i i mean again. Generally wins the game star being played everything else gets gets thrown out. Fortunately bella check was thinking is boy. Do i really want my backup quarterback to create a situation where people are going to have to miss games. No absolutely not so You know. Tim tebow i. Now cam noon fall victim of being too. Who could have seen this coming through hot guys. I love making fun of cam. Newton and tim tebow both out of the league. Both coors light refreshing takes video. I wanna know on the show. And then i'm gonna get myself have credit for calling cam. Newton abbot that was refreshing to national championship. Winning quarterbacks cut in the same off season we ever seen come to. And by the way i mean. Not that we're gonna but for offensive rookie of the year. I i personally like this makes me like a grab zack. Wilson's odds are falling down. Yeah i you know. zach wilson. Was the other offense rookie of the year. Kind of had my eye on and the price wasn't quite right now. The the wilson prices going up a little bit. I think you could definitely make a case for that. People don't want to hear about the afc. Least now they out the nfc beast all right. Let's talk hard knocks recap i. I caught up so episode. Three how i mean. I guess if you're a cowboys fan you like senior team but what what about watching this this cowboys normally ryan we see hard knocks hype right because oh all these guys are bawling out and you want to add them to your fantasy team but the cowboys are always over hyped. So feels like they're not getting that hype bump that we're used to seeing from harnack seem no and Honestly like i think my big takeaways are. This isn't making me. believe mike. Mccarthy is a good coach. Now dot kind of mike mccarthy's isn't making me feel reminded me of the of the joe philbin Hard knocks who ironically is now the offensive line coach for the dallas cowboys. And this is a. Who's who of just great coaches. We got one of the fossils in there. We got the british accent Defensive line i just. I haven't seen anything that's gonna lead me to believe that. The teams gotten any better on the defensive side of the ball. So we i. I watched the show and it just it. My only takeaways are like wow. This is a beauty for anyone who hates the cowboys. I mean really is zeke. Comes off softish shit. That comes off a complete beta really. You're gonna let zeke's steal your bike little bitch. The the big offseason source zeke's coming in focused healthy in shape. And then he got the shadows. Zeke just i mean i just the way he almost makes loved this fruit roll. He's just eating it. This is not a guy who's who's eating healthy. He's gonna eat his way out of the league and thank god thank god he has an eating eating problem. And thank god i mean they. They went back to some jimmy. Johnson highlights again. They were trying to go back to when the cowboys. Relevant and god bless jerry jones for firing jimmy johnson. Because if they don't fire jimmy johnson. My childhood would have been even more painful. Not in the ring of the cowboys running hunter right. I mean that's no. They announced that he is going to be added this year. Jerry must be getting close to death. Yeah i mean yeah that's the other big takeaway is like. Sometimes you can read between the lines with this show and you can figure out when there's not much to talk about or if it's just bad and i'm getting the vibe that it's all bad and that's why we're watching five minute segments of dudes playing chess seek eating fruit roll ups and giving a fancy bags to to to rain monica. Parsons is going gonna help their defense but he also seems kinda crazy right. He seems like a frapp. He seems like a frat boy who wants to to chevy walker. Something he he seems like a pretty odd guy. But i i think he'll be decent all right. Let's just get into these teams ryan.

"Yeah car doctors pretty damn cool. That's pretty good too. And then jerry jones. Can i get a little jerry. Jones for the for the lady had which one had more shots in a cocker spaniel. You don't worry about sticking me brickman to circumcise mosquito. Here i had more shots than goddamn good man. The man went into gruden. Yeah yeah he did a little bit so why. Why didn't we have steven jones. Jerry jones son helping out with his contact lenses. As far as i can tell. That's what stephen jones. John is is to clean people's eyewear doctor. I do think that you should have somebody on your team that has rec specs all time. Yeah that's a great guy. Glue guy yes and also it does Anyone who's played any sport any level knows that before game. You look across the sideline in size up the opponent if you see a guy in rec specs. You're like we're gonna fucking win today. Yeah so you get them false confidence and then you beat there. That's that's i would have. I'd have my guys wherein like pocket protectors rec specs all of them on crutches. And just give them some confidence. You played football for a while. If you saw guy on the opposing sideline what went through your mind scrub yup. Yeah that's because you're not a writer. Because i know another guy that we're rec specs back. Your you walked right into that one. Until yup i i i played you like a goddamn on that one. Disavowal billy billy. Just got it right now. That just hit them. No derived. this week was tough. I would like to see him. Bob mcadoo in the in the background. We got mcadoo. We got joe philbin. Yup the cavaliers are just. I think people don't realise enough. How crazy is that. Jerry jones the owner of the team. He is the general manager. he's he's grinding film and like rating. great. I'm sure he's got all the analytics he's going east going on scout he he goes. Scouts teams all the time east west game the shrine game. Whatever it senior bowl game. Yeah he goes to all that he lives at a hotel six. Yeah he's walking around the stop. watch it all time. that's jerry does. Yeah all right so hard knocks stinks all right before each nazi thrown obviously People saw the news The tragic passing jimmy hayes so we wanted to at least acknowledge that i i do jimmy. I was introduced jimmy in two thousand thirteen. When he's on the blackhawks in the stanley cup. Run he's very close with our very good friends at spitting chocolates. So just tragic it. It's one of those moments. Like i think you know like i said i. I knew him a little bit but also just the fact he has two kids that are almost identical to my Two kids and it's just it's it's fucking terrible and it's one of those like you know life's too short. Tell people that you love them kinda moments you see that. From the hockey community there was not a single person and has a bad story about him like he was ultimate although locker room guy ultimate teammate. He he he was one of the first athletes that i met who was like a fan of barstool and it was one of the coolest moments i remember meeting him in two thousand thirteen and it was. He was one of those guys that everyone liked to be around and It's just it's really really tragic and You know. I think anyone who met him. Heard him podcast. Whatever it may be their life was better for it so We just wanted to say something for the hockey community for spitting chocolates guys for the hayes. Family was very close to barstools. So really really really. I never met the guy but Away that you can tell a lot about somebody F- after they pass away like what the reaction is and it was just all people having the nicest things ever say about the guy people that i love cared very deeply about him and thought of him as brother. And so you know. There's obviously it's a heartbreaking time and nothing good that you could say but it certainly sounds like he had a very positive impact in a short time and and it does sound like there will be a lot of people who will be in his children's life because like i said that part just like fucking. It's rare that a death like really hits me in that one. Hit me pretty damn hard on monday night. Especially when i was like putting my son to bed it was. It's it's fucking really really bad so we're thinking about him. We're thinking about the people that are close to us like pfc said and Just wanted to throw that in there. can't really transition from that but did record this part after this. So if you're not white sound so lumpy let me do a side transition to to buffer it Baseball is kinda of back because we watched the braves yankees game. That was electric. That was actually designed that we knew hard knocks wasn't good anymore. Was we had braves yankees on. We were all watching braves yankees. Well like half watching or out of the corner is hard. How does that work. If there's a foul tip called yeah and then It wasn't tipped what happens on that. Can i guess it's not reviewable not reviewable so hake. Are you nervous about the yankees. Because they've now won eleven straight again hot who early our. It's been great and you have that ready to go back to my wrong. Oh you're not hanging. I'm looking at the calendar. Right now is is this. Is this october. That even do they give them mr tober september. No i don't think it is called september. That's sandwich month. August and october line line. It's not september the yankees. I had the boys of summer there. They are looking like they're having fun. And whenever you see a yankees team start to have fun. They'd like a precursor for maybe some problems. Yeah i mean if chapman like that's you're closer. I've oh he's the author on into october sweatier. Man aroldis chapman her. Patrick ewing in the history of new york sports. Yeah 'cause aroldis chapman he is able to accomplish. Patrick ewing levels sweat in a much shorter periods. I'm patrick ewing. He had that sweat going but usually it was after. I don't know maybe like thirty minutes of being out on the wherever shack the shack. It's obviously not new york athlete but shack used to be like pouring sweat during the national anthem. I was shocked by that but aroldis chapman. He wears long sleeves atlanta in august..

"But as a quarterback for the most part when big ben a couple years ago had tommy john to me the craziest part about that was. When the hell do quarterbacks. Ever get tommy john when do their elbow. Those tendons usually go rarely happens when quarterbacks get injured it's usually knees maybe a shoulder but like they're throwing elbow. That was a pretty eye opening injury. And now dak has this issue. And i'm not trying to play doctor. This is state school guy no medical degree but when you're watching hard knocks in jerry's on the phone with the trainer and the trainer saying he's talking to yankee and texas ranger trainers. Of course he is. Because this is not happened to quarterbacks so why did this happen. I don't know but it's a relevant why it happened there here and now. He's not practicing. You get multiple. Is i would be very very word because the one takeaway ahead that when deck is not in the game there on a ben freaking ghanouchi the cowboys suck. They would not win. They win four games. Would they go four and thirteen if dak had to have like season ending elbow server. I don't want that to happen because my other takeaway from cowboy the hard knocks. I think one of the more likable guys in the league. Like he really is god. I'm rooting for this guy. I found myself by the end of the episode. Feeling bad for him. I could not watch the replay of the ankle injury and then in practice what. His elbow start hurting him. Kind of chirpin at the coaches. Like i'm tired i don't want to sit out. I sat all last year. Like this guy. What a bad ass. And if you've listened for a long time you know where. I stand like i didn't love pain. Forty million dollars. I still don't i'm not. I'm not trying to count other people's pockets. I root for other people to get as much money as humanly possible except in pro sports winning the salary cap and we have to talk about it in that vein so to me you know thirty million dollars felt about right but you took forty but the reality is once you pay him forty he. Doesn't he still the same player if he's healthy harder to build around him. Here's their defense is gonna stink like mike mccarthy. I heard colin a couple of days ago claim that like i thought he'd put it perfectly. That mike mccarthy sounds like a guy trying to play a coach in a movie like it all feels very forced. It's not very natural some off. I don't really know what to say. But when i see ben mcadoo who was a laughing stock with the giants. Joe philbin who was a laughingstock with the dolphins. Like mike do you. Not know other coaches. Are you just going back to the well. And dan quinn. Like wasn't i think. Dan quinn is a high character guy. People love the human being. He is just people everyone. I know that knows dan. Quinn speak very very highly of.

"I have not been impressed with it. There's some britain moxie. And then you start at like six to finish out eighty missiles layoffs unusual defense but ultimately quarterback. That's how it is. And i'm looking into my catholic. Just if it staffer when you get your love when you have kids back in college you can go play. They can figure out what they won't do. And i was thinking about something and maybe maybe only one of the miami dolphins because my my friends and i said this is now time out for you. Have the right coaches. Why flora's is the right coach. There will never be another better coach. Blinds laura's in miami for fifteen years. That's i phrase but in my rom listen. I forgot to tell us bronco recipes. Joe philbin adam. Jas looked wrong. Did with the cultural body. Cloudy appearance coaches. I mentioned periods. Yeah we forget that run out of the playoffs with periods you know and the lead before run on cam cameron fifteen year old. I'm right about this. And i'll take to the bank and yeah the recall. I think you have the retin-a slurs you need of help. Sure everybody needs offense of health. Miles gaskins sold on it. But you should try for marla mackey mitra. I can just see what happens to the four years but you need to build some ground games secrets to be interesting what you could get your know folder and in my case but your brightness onto tool couldn't get in ten wins and having a combination of two of and patrick and what they all soldier was it was a team base effort. That's fine but fitzpatrick got to tackle the back of it so.

"Being on hard knocks will have any effect on anybody. And i think that after being paid is probably feeling pretty comfortable right now coming off his injury. I know he's going to try bounce back from that. But i just think that in this position that he's at right now in dallas. I don't think there's pretty. I don't think there's any more pressure on them. Then he doesn't already have on them to begin with so then rob. Who do you think has the most the game from hard knocks. It's probably the head coach. I think that when you look at last year being a new coach in a new city with the way it was the way the season worked out. I think that mccarthy probably has a lot to gain off of people watching him and just seeing his daily routine ins and outs of how he runs the team. I think that it might impact the fan base. A pretty big amount he would. Who do you think is the most to gain. I agree. I agree with rob. I think mike mccarthy is a guy with the most game coming off of last season where you saw star quarterback go down and literally. The team just win was in shambles. So i think people had had questions about mike mccarthy as far as his offense and his ability to run a twenty twenty first twenty first century. Style of offense so i think. This'll be a great opportunity for mike. Mccarthy kind of rehab himself over last year season jeff. What do you think. I just don't know what we expect from. Mike mccarthy's personality like i. I like him a lot. He's he's a funny guy but he's got like this dry sense of humor that i'm not sure is going to translate to the hard knocks crowd. I'm very curious to see how it goes. I used to cover the dolphins back with joe. Philbin was on there. I don't know if you guys remember that awkward got when he when he waved ocho cinco and he's walking around like picking up trash in the field. Like i actually think you can do more harm than good for a head coach. Because head coaches are generally speaking a little different. So so. I hope for mike mccarthy sake that he comes out of this looking pretty good but to me he's got more to lose than to gain to be honest a definitely affect and not the joe philbin effect. That's the man that was brutal. All right guys. Let's go.

"There with them and then you could look at jalen folks literally any other pass in this draft. He's going to be compared to being the first one off the board op. So i do like these picks the mostly because they weren't needed right they weren't the dolphins weren't desperately needed defensive and yes it wasn't one of the strongest areas but it was something they have gotten by with what they have. So i see these guys coming in in positions that they could really learn grow and not be forced into action like charles harris and not saying the whole other end of the spectrum like the android was playing twelve snaps game game his rookie year shadow. Joe philbin for that logic But i do see someone who can really get comfortable really quickly. Based on the talent. The dolphins have around him. Like i said the guy drone baker and vince beagle who might be behind atrovent ginko of might be behind that defensive of second unit. Who can really help. Stop the run winfield's by make a mess or something like that. Make those rookie errors. I think that's going to do a lot for this team in the competence for these guys at i think best case today or josh. You mentioned that he really turned it on and spinal season in miami. I guess i should say final season in college with miami. That probably would fill would have to do to be strong his rookie year right. I think it probably. I don't see any way. He can start out really fast. But i could see him being someone who by the end of the year. He is so comfortable and the dolphins have an uptown around where he really belongs on that. You know starting eleven defense went back. Actually pull up the article which we can link and whichever article in put now. But i put as a conclusion. I don't know jalen phillips will start on day one after all ryan floors is a firm believer in competition and some of the veterans could hold the inside track but then again the best plan is to play the leading best guys. It's hard to imagine. They're very few on the defensive line. As talented jalen phillips. I then went on to say as the best pass rusher in the country. And the sky's limit so jake debris it all full circle. Man i don't know about you but jalen philipson when he's going to do to that defense it's going to be as impactful as hell and it's going to be on the same level against jason taylor and can't wait ragavan. He's already up there. If you actually back in my make it in before zach thomas he might actually make it in the whole in before that. That's awful. That's awful guys papa. Thank you so much for joining us. This book club. If you have time to go watch some video and killing phillips. "How college basketball again is dead as we all know but also is it. Because tom izzo was still in the game and for now for now and he was asked on a radio show stoney johnson in detroit. This is the best part about these coaches. Right is most of the things that get aggregated people hate aggregate. That's like deter. Don't aggregate my quotes. Most nine times out of ten is when these coaches go and local radio shows and they get ast from the local diehards and they have to kinda give them something. It's always. It's always an environment where you feel like nobody's listening exactly and that's when they get you get you bet so when it ends up on two seven two two four seven sports in his all over the world and so first and foremost the time is oh i know that he said this probably jokingly you know i know he said this thinking again. No one's listening especially not coach k. But we were listening and he said he was asked about his retirement. He said when i do it. I'm just leaving and i think that's all you need to hear. What was he asked. This did was he. S specifically how are you going to retire or was it. He was asked about k. So coach k. Us ask you know. Basically the question started coach k.'s. Retiring you know what about you what you know when win is your time in. What he said was is interesting guys because you get asked those questions. I say hell k. Got eight nine years on me. So i got plenty of time. He said the day. I don't feel like flying to vegas orlando. That's when i know that like it's basically over for me. So is oakland has all these and then he says but when i do it i'm just leaving. You know which says basically. I am not going to get nike to give me a year long. Farewell tour everyone gives me flowers. And i sniff them i. Tom izzo is the type to make this decision. The middle of the season to maybe a halftime. Who's who's the guy that played for the bills that retired who was that guy Sort of people are gonna kill me for not remember. That was incredible. Who was that. I was like in my head. Is brandon tape but it wasn't brandon. Tate Volunteer davis davis when he retired his corners of all time. What are the greatest hard knocks characters of all time cole. Voltaire davis retired. Mid game was the right decision. Dude he was so on hard knocks in practice. That was when joe philbin was coaching the dolphins and basically bought they davis. It's like asking for a trade practice. That is tom izzo. What he says like. I'm just gonna leave. He doesn't season there. He tom izzo good at just like he's going to be down. Seventeen a halftime. It gets baru in west. Lafayette he's just going to get an uber the airport. I think i figured out what we all know what. The real number is number two. He's going for number two. He's going for the second national championship to say that you know the flintstones wasn't a fluke this premier program we the premier program in michigan in the big ten. We're going to win our second ship. I'm not sure that that's going to happen right before he leaves. But i figured out what he's actually going for this is. This is the real number so yes. Six hundred and forty. Three victories at michigan state. big ten victories. Yeah bob knight has six hundred fifty nine six six sixty. Big ten wins. That's probably two seasons. Maybe one great season gets passed. Bobby knight the winning coach in history two seasons and then boom. He leaves you. Think he's got season. Is this the scoop. Lewry put based on the numbers that i'm crunching right now. I think he's trying to get the most big ten wins. Because it's good for the big ten to right when you talk about our winningest coach. Probably better to have the night. Yes for from a pr standpoint. Probably now yeah at a time. Obviously i think when you take that record the big ten network everybody they give you the thumbs up on the way out. I'm so i'm sorta surprised. It's nice to be honest. Even though night is the best coach victim history of surprised. It's not it feels like katie. Would that would be. We'd be seeing that. I guess. I guess if that was the case we would see that graphic coach fellers chair gene katie add more. That was the case. We would see that graphic boy there ball today remember. Coach katy owns the big. I guess you're right. Yeah but it's got to be the national chain. That's that's really what he wants number two. Yeah he really wants to. do you think. Number two is actually going to happen. It's not no it's never happened for the big ten again. Thanks juwan howard is so stupid. He believes that he could win. The national title michigan and You can't you on because you're not good up to. I'm saying that's how it works for big too quickly to engine and to say that juwan howard is upper every job. Well that's what i'm saying is what howard will eventually take one of those jobs when he has the epiphany that you just simply cannot win national championships in the big ten happen. And it's not because your program can't be you can have these single best program country year in and year out. Gonzaga's joined the big ten. Honestly i think i think they'd fitted perfectly twelve update and we just have gonzaga. Do like the big ten updates should just be national title. Odds who's got the best the best odds and then we laugh at it and then we pick it apart. And we're like. There is zero percent chance michigan. State's wounded this year or indiana. Purdue purdue has expectations and that is dangerous spot to be in peru is going to be top ten probably to start the season so maybe top five depending on how i've seen been a top five top. Ten wants to turn the propaganda. I'm sure they could get people to vote on top five. Preseason but If i'm a purdue fan i do not want the propaganda. I not want any expectation. I this would terrify me. Uh-huh produce going to be one of the teams this year. That's going to have a. They're going to be a big ten update. We'll do it update we'll just be like it can't pretty win the national championship and the answer is probably not but it is true. Like carson edwards. I mean not to say purdue was going to go in the same path. Virginia but like they were on the verge of beating if they beat virginia proof. Forget what happened. Explained to them what happened. I'm just saying how fell apart for them and it was so close so close. They forget they so quick. Just blocked it out and now man no. I think that's what you want. Howard decides he's going to be a when he doesn't realize it yet but Some of the old weather guys figured out. I think is a is has figured out..

"Much chain stop talking about bachelorette party be careful with that party. We're going to circle back to that one all right. I wanna wear a devante booker. He's very skinny now. I want to talk about this. One's not it's not exciting but it is notable injury stuff like it's fluid. It's i'm going to name some. That are have a huge role and a huge responsibility toward making their team's successful and they need their rehab to go in the right direction right. Now i'll start with calvin ridley you know i hate. I hate foot surgeries. Hate him especially for a skilled player. Have you had one. I'm not skilled player. And i've never had foot surgery. I'm as far as you can get on this conversation analyzing the situation from a distance from a distance. What's in this is definitely hit and right now. This is my favorite show. Calvin ridley had what what it was explained as a minor foot procedure and he'll be fine for training camp. I hope so but you just traded away. Julio jones and i know everyone thinks is going to hit the ground running and be the greatest tight end of all time and maybe he will be. But we might be going greg from a situation where you were all hopped up for instance about having this big three together with matt. Ryan the former. Mvp quarterback now julio's gone and got pits learning the playbook in the pro game. And now you have the start and a new number one coming off foot surgery. Don't like it speaking footwear surgery. I don't like clinton williams teams number one defensive player coming up first surgery that went under the radar a little bit about a month ago. It's like oh yeah he just had foot surgery built back in the offseason. I don't like that because foot injuries. If you follow the sport you know they might come back but they can aggravate them easily. More injury stuff saquon barkley. Usually this time of year you hear. Oh yeah not only. Do i feel like. I felt before the injury. I'm better elliott's trope so the offseason no saquon. It's like we're taking a one day at a time. Where goal is to get them back and he'll be ready to go week one. I'm not. I'm not ring any alarm bells. I'm just saying it's the way it's being put out by. The team is nine barkley. He sounded pretty cautious this week. There's a lot of work to do still on that. Acl rehab for an injury. That happened early last year. Keep an eye on that kyle. Long tons of ink digital ink spilled a after the super bowl when he came at a time signed with the chiefs. They're like the way we and i'm saying we is the football gag. Nessin the way we operated on this is like oh yeah catalogs back. And he's the star of two thousand fourteen. He's their new guard. They're right guard is like no no no. We don't know what it is. So now that's a camp battle and he might begin. Surgery might be out of the picture entirely I'll leave it there. There's more players to go through but keep an eye. It's a very fluid situation with these injuries. Nice why so everybody else have a fluid injury thing that maybe i missed. Solomon for this. Survey mario cooper this week in rapper. This is what i'm getting at with the whole like minor injury. He got hurt two weeks ago. He might not be ready for training camp and all the comments are like. Oh it's no big no big deal. That's two and a half months in between when you just got her and being ready for training if that happened during the season you just missed the whole season. That's not minor coaches lie about offseason injuries. More than they lie about anything else. I would say cam. Newton hand injury. And i'm not again. I'm not rain alarm bells. i'm just any hurt his hand. They said it's not serious but he is also not practicing right now all right. Let's go quick one more time around mark all right but did you. Front both gusts you. You had the frank gore one earlier. No no no. That's not going to go. Because i was starting to check with that. I'm not geo bernard it's going gonna do great this radar new texans coach. David colley will. Not only tory minicamp. Next week saying we've accomplished. We want to accomplish. Hold on so fluid first of all. Give me a break here. Like the texans are facing one of the biggest. Pr crisis of any team in support. We do this every year. Only but if any team that has number one you have fifty plus new players. We're good we're good. We're like we're a team totally. That is fluid influxes. Any team in the nfl. How about you get back together and do some professional work together. I don't like the idea that e e e even go to the press with his saying hey you know what we've wrapped it up. We're fine so you're one and eight. We can look back and say hey you did everything you possibly could. I just think you're you're a new coach. I like him a lot. Seems like a nice guy. Everyone likes them. But like you have got to have a different approach than. Let's just take an extra week off because we're the houston. Texans were sky. High things are fine. No issues inside the building. Oacu in august listened. h lot. he is. He is the new version of handsome boy. That was the coach of the forty. Niners joe philbin now. No no forty niners co nine hundred. Soula top ciller. He's rearranging deck chairs on the titanic. He he's waited his whole life. He's a sixty four year old man. I believe finally gets a big chair. And he's dealt this hand. I mean he's all right. Listen but people don't get to leave the titanic. You have to stick it out. You have to go. But it's like. I think he he took the job. He took the gig knowing. It was a titanic challenge in front of them. I just kind of feel bad for the. I do too but i would say if you're texans fans you're wondering like you're sending me like a bunch of emails about dropping fourteen hundred dollars on season tickets or twice that like how about like i at least have an organization. It says our talent paces way down here. We're going to work harder than anyone else. We've got a ton of new people we've got to new systems. We're going to grind as hard as they dan campbell. We're good we're out. See you in july a nice time. We're going to the bahamas many camps done about to too much. They are not the only team that skipping minicamp by the way many teams are. Don't understand thing. Gyles shanahan excess. Ler boy did the same thing but shanahan no-one sitting around wondering if the forty niners have direction. I wouldn't bring that up about them like if you're essentially working in from behind with the with the talent of like a high level college team you gotta do more on out. This item a new week. That was just a reminder that tucson watson someday could play football again. We don't know if that's going to be this year but kareem jackson is all teammate in houston pointing out. That watson wants to play in denver. Just got me thinking.

"To 1 to four 2 to 7, if you if you want to get in on this show FC NFC title game coming up top of the hour. The other big news in the NFL to Shawn Watson. There continues to be new, swirling around the Texans quarterback Chris Mortensen reporting on NFL countdown today that Even if the Texans hire a head coach that to Sean likes He may still want out of Houston to Shaun himself has still not spoken on any of this stuff. He merely tweets and instagrams rap lyrics. That's how that goes. But if you're in a city that feels like you could use a quarterback Give me a shout 855 to 1 to four CBS. I'm in the city that employs to Shawn Watson. So I'm the gatekeeper. I'm going to play the role of Mikis area. If you want to get in, make a trade off for I'm willing to listen. Now the other quarterback. Who is on the trade market. And in much less cryptic fashion. Is Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions. Matthew Stafford said. An interesting career he's piled up a bunch of stats. He's piled up a bunch of money a bunch. I have to go looking find it, But I think Stafford is one of the he's got to be one of the three or four Richest players in the history of the NFL. Just purely in terms of money made playing football. There's a guy you know, Brady has probably made less 700. He's made less salary than Stafford. He may have. He's played longer. But there are guys who have made less salary, but they're bigger stars so they may have been made more in endorsements and so forth. Tough to be a real endorsement fiend when you're toiling for the Detroit Lions for the last 12 years. But keeping my Matthew Stafford was a number one overall pick back in 2009. That was before the rookie wage scale. So that was back when the number one pick in the draft got paid like a front line starting quarterback did like a veteran. So he was already starting from a place where he was making a bunch of money, unfortunately, has not resulted in a lot of success in Detroit, and some of that is Stafford's fault in a lot of it is the fault of the organization. It's just one of those seemingly cursed organizations. It just can't get it right. Has they have sporadic success? It just can't get it right. The Jets are like that. The Bangles air like that. For years, the Browns were the gold standard. I guess the lead standard gold would imply they were good. The Brown seemed to be at the very least on one of those blips out of being the Browns. Look, I cover a team here in Houston. It's like that. Careening towards the wall right now. That's Detroit. Matthew Stafford is going 12 seasons without winning a playoff game. And yet, I think he's still widely regarded around the league as At the very least, a very talented quarterback. Good arm talent till you get to be the number one overall pick in the draft. And I know the city of Detroit loves Matt Stafford, and I know he's been very good to the city of Detroit as well with charities and things like that. It's a weird thing in the NFL that a lot of players, especially quarterbacks, even if the team doesn't have a lot of success. They stay there and they fall in love with the city and it and saying goodbye is really hard to do. My guess is it'll be hard for Matt Stafford, even though that they have not experienced the postseason win with him a quarterback yet. So as Matt Stafford went into this Off season. He probably did. A lot of soul searching, looked at the situation in Detroit. Said. OK, let me take a look at this roster. We're picking seventh overall. We weren't very good again this year. How much of that was coach Patricia being an idiot? What can we do with this? If he had been it all up in the air. I do think that once they hired the head coach Did it probably put Matthew Stafford over the edge. Dan Campbell, the former interim head coach for the Miami Dolphins. V for the last five years. The tight ends coach and assistant head coach for Sean Payton in New Orleans was hired is the Detroit Lions head coach this past week, and I thought it was a bit of a curious hire. To begin with because his name wasn't on the radar for anything anywhere. You know you do You have all those big boards at the beginning of the coaching cycle. And we knew who all the names were this time around, Eric, Be enemy. Robert Sala. Arthur Smith, Brian Day Ball. Matty Bird flu's Brandon Staley worked his way on their wound up with a job. Lot of these guys are still out there, You know, that's how it goes. Only seven spots opened up and only seven spots open up. There's probably nine or 10 names get tossed around. His guys who are going to quote definitely get a head coaching job. Well, it's a little tough to do when there's only seven of them. And there's nine or 10 of you. And here's the other thing. There's always one or two that are off the radar. Where you go. Oh, my God. Where did this guy come from? Nick Syriani. A little like that for the Eagles this week, right? The offensive coordinator for the Indianapolis head Colts. Someone told you before this hiring cycle that the Colts would get a coordinator who landed a head coaching job. They would have said, Oh, where's a bird? Flu's going, But no Syrian. He's got the job. So So now, Dan Campbell. Who's a bit of a nut job in Miami when he replaced Joe Philbin. Won a few games early on doing all kinds of crazy stuff like the Oklahoma drill and practice all kinds of stuff that would be frowned upon by the players Association now and then, that Sugar High war often the Dolphins became the Dolphins again, and Campbell settle back into just being a maniacal assistant coach. Well, he convinced the Lions that He is the lick, sir. That's going to get them to the postseason and have success. If you're Matt Stafford and you look at your 12 years there, I would imagine it was a hard decision. But once you heard this press conference With Dan Campbell. My guess is Matthew Stafford's decision. Got a little bit easier. Take a listen. We're gonna kick you in the teeth, All right?.

"We'll find out who gets the Houston Texans job is that is just a crazy, tumultuous situation where it seems like there is a lot of dysfunction there and I guess if you're taking that Texans job, your hope is to try to keep the show on Watson there. I wonder what Nicholas Ariel is telling the candidates. For example, they interviewed Erich Be enemy this past week. When the Texans talked to Eric, the enemy. The situation with Shawn Watson has to come up right? And is it more? So how do you plan to keep the show on what's in here? No, it's not that question because that's the G M's job. That's not the coach's job that has to be relationship with to Sean in the coach and clearly to Shawn Watson wants Eric the enemy. And is that enough to keep if they just hired the enemy? Is that enough to keep Shawn Watson. There, according to the Chris Mortensen reporting, I would say no. It's more than just Easterby. Culprit number one here and everyone talks about Easter being trust me. I've done my fair share of yelling about Nick about Jack Easterby. But it's comic there. That's the biggest problem in the organization and let's be real. The owner is not just going to start hating money. He's gonna want to stay there and he's gonna stay is the owner of the football team. I know that we all get in this world. We try to bench and complain and go get rid of the owner. Now. Just get ready, please. It's very rare that the owner says Yeah, I've done good by. You know the fans don't want me anymore. Don't happen recently with my baseball team, the Mets We finally got rid of the world punch. Whoa! That was awesome. And you bring in Steve Cohen most of the time that how many times the fan base is complain about the owner and I'm not saying the complaints aren't Warranted that they definitely are warranted. McNair is not going to step away, though. Anytime soon. It's just not gonna happen. So I wonder if there's any belief inside that organization from all the reporting. It seems as if they're not actively looking to trade him, but they would listen to phone calls right now. I think they know that this is going to be a situation that's going to be tough to rectify. And maybe they're they're gonna have whoever the head coaches as a last ditch resort, whether that's the enemy or someone else and who even knows if the enemy wants the job, and maybe someone looks at that job and thinks whoever takes it that they could convince the Shawn Watson to stay. And if the shop wants and goes Nothing against you. Every hired I just don't trust this organization. I can't stay here any longer. I want out. Then you're gonna have to trade him. And we'll see how many first round picks to Shawn Watson does go for but we'll get into who got higher today in just a second. Let me just give you the poll questions first, and I say questions. That is not a mistake. We got two questions for you today. And one has to do with the show. Matson. If your team had to give up three first round picks with Shawn Watson, would you do it early return 60.9% say yes. 39.1% say no, I'll give you my answer coming up later on. In the program and then who wins a NFL steel cage match between coaches here the four options I wanted to think of who were the fourth toughest coaches in the league. You put them in one of those w W E steel cage matches Or maybe called bar pal Friend of the show. Dana White. Could we get these four guys on fight Island? We get him in an octagon Dana, you'd be down. Of course he'd be down. Think the coaches would be down, though, if we were to put Dan Campbell, Robert Sala, Mike Vrabel and Brian Forrest. So Dan Campbell, the coach aligns who He's a gem of a quote. We'll get into that coming up later, Robert solid, the new coach of the Jets, both their introduced today Rabel coach in Tennessee and remember what he said he would said he said he would cut off. Let me see. I could phrases on the radio has Mr Peabody So in a Super Bowl. He said he would cut that off. Yes. If you don't know what I'm talking about your Johnson your mail private part. He said he would cut that off when a Super Bowl is the head coach. Now, remember, my fable has three rings already as a player, but he wants one as a head coach, and then the other one will be Brian Forrest, the head football coach of the Miami Dolphins. Early returns on that. Four is 6.7%. Then at 26.7%, Robert solid 29.3%, Dan Campbell and leading the way 37.3% Mike Grable. So I'll answers. I'll answer both of those questions before we do say goodbye at 10 P.m. Eastern seven Pacific, but Filling out the Eagles made a coaching higher today. And his name is Nick Syriani. Now. Nick Syriani is the head football coach or now the Philadelphia Eagles because the offensive coordinator with the Indianapolis Colts, I'm going to do something that's not popular in my profession. I'm going to tell you I know very little about Nick Syriani. I knew he was the offensive coordinator last year, the Indianapolis Colts, but he's not calling the plays. That's Frank Reich. Frank Reich is running the show. And Nick Syriani is 39 years old. I was looking at his resume before the show. He went toe college at Mount Union. That is in Ohio. He was the defensive backs coach there, then bounced around to another college is well, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, then was with the cheese for a while. So he was he worked with Todd Haley that was from 09. 2012 his highest position of power with cheese. He was the wide receivers coach for a year. Then he went to San Diego was with the Chargers. And the Los Angeles Chargers is while San Diego and Los Angeles from 2013 all the way up to 2017 here's a quarterback coach for a little bit wide receiver coaches well and then got his first big gig. In the National Football League and 2018 as the offensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts now becomes the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. And what's unpopular about to do is I'm gonna tell you I just don't know much about him. There's always and maybe there's more surprising hires this year we knew about Brandon Staley. I didn't expect him to get a head coaching job this year, and I think if you would ask anyone before the year hey, Brendan cells in their head coaching job at the end of the season, no one would have said yes. You look at Dan Campbell. Even Dan Campbell joked about him. We knew Dan Campbell is playing the league and Dan Campbell is well has been with the Saints for a while, is the Internet coach with the Miami Dolphins after Joe Philbin got fired, But Dan Campbell even joked about it today. I probably got a job because they thought they were hiring Matt Campbell from Iowa State. So there has been some hires this year where you go. I wasn't expecting that. But just because you weren't expecting that person to get hired, or you don't know much about them. Doesn't mean that they can end up being a good coach. I do find it Funny How everyone Now in the media is the Knicks Syriani f, You know, expert today? That everyone knows who nixed Syriani is I don't even know if I'm pronouncing his name, right? I don't even know if most people know how to say his name. I'm just concerned with now have in Syria connected to my phone in my brand new computer. Every time I say Nick Syriani is Syria could ask me what I want my computer to do. So can he be a successful coach with the Eagles? Yeah, he could be a successful coach. I'm not going to sit here, though, Like so many other of my brethren in the media and tell you all I know everything you know, and I know about everything There is need to know about him. I know about it, but I'm an expert about him. And I've been studying this guy for a long time. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Come on. Be ask you don't you don't know much about him. I'm sure that there are some that know about it because the frank right train. Also, Frank, right, used to be the offensive coordinator with the Eagles won the Super Bowl, but how many people were talking about Nick Syriani? Not even having a week ago. Did anyone think this guy was gonna head coaching job? I'm not saying a year ago two years ago. How about seven days ago? Did anyone think this guy was getting head coaching job? Trace your Colts fan? If I would have told you two weeks ago. Let's be fair two weeks ago, right before your playoff game, going up against Buffalo bills that Nick Syriani Was going to get a head coaching job. You would've said Want to may? No way..

"With rick tittle. Rick tittle is genius. The best show ever. He's so wonderful. Genius the fish. Oh he's so. Wonderful chips alighting sports with his keys genius. Thank you for that and Welcome back to the show rick to the with you. Coast to coast and around the world on the american forces radio network as always a lot to get to here in america We did get a report Today at the detroit lions have settled on a new head coach. And that is dan campbell and The first choice there. I don't think it was any secret. Was robert sala. Mr dearborn and mr Defensive coordinator with the niners at the time but Of course robert sala is now a head coach for the new york jets. Ats jets jets. And so dan campbell. Who in the is that. He has been a guy who's been with the saints the last five years now. That new orleans is out of the playoffs. They have signed dan campbell to a six year. Deal wow forty four years old. Sheila ford hamp. The owner said well. This is an exciting day for our organization has been it. Is dan campbell. Go to the detroit. Lions of more than twenty years of experience as both a coach and a player in the national football league then does the rigors professional football what it takes to be successful. You will help promote the culture. We want to salvage across organization also bringing with him high energy respect for the game and an identity with which everyone can align themselves quote. Now you say why would you give a guy a six year deal. Well that might have been what it took to get him in the building. Take a more upon franchise like that but it also it. It shows at least today a commitment and that is a commitment. Not unlike you know the niners gave kyle shanahan like we know. We're not going to be good but we think if we stick with you we will be good in a couple years. Maybe that's it and he has some local times as well because he played three years for the lions and he went to texas am drafted and ninety nine eleven seasons in the league and Won the super bowl as a player with the saints. Eleven years ago one year after retiring. He was an intern with the miami dolphins and then was the team's tight end coach the next year for years in that post and He got the boot when Joe philbin and his staff got out but since then he's been the tight end head coach of the saints and sean payton also named him as assistant head coach. And so just one of those things where you say. Is it him or you know. Was it payden. Obviously it's peyton but you try to find those. There's always some good coaches in there but it's also the horse you know. What would sean payton do with. You might ask themselves. But the president. Lions mr ron would rolling. Stones guitarist namesake. Dan's passion for this opportunity was evident throughout our interview process. When we began the search for head coach. It was imperative that we find the right leader who values our commitment to building a winning culture based on organised organizational alignment and collaboration the leadership. Dan is exemplified throughout his career has prepared him for the next step and we are excited to support him as our new head coach. Well that's all well and good but There is there are still some critical voices mounting within the nfl community outside the community about the head. Coaching hiring cycle that is still lacking diversity. We still have two more teams to go in houston and philadelphia. But they're starting to become this mounting chorus of former and current players and current and former coaches you have the fritz pollard. Alliance you have the players association about the state of affairs and you know damore. Smith head of the union was talking about this on. Mlk day just two days ago. He said it's something that we're following closely this year earlier. This year the nfl did reach out to the nfl pa to ask for assistance and its overall effort of increasing diversity. And we're going to be presenting some good things to the league right around the super bowl. But i wanted to have a pretty good look at what happened this year before we did that. And in order to complete the circle a lot of the acid with justice what is fair. How do we make sure that team offices and people who cover our sport are subject to accountability on the decisions that they make and believe that a lot of the things or a few things that the league's done in the past have been good. And i think there are still a lot of people who go out of their way to apologize for the league to defend the league over hiring decisions or processes that are indefensible. Well does this. Put more pressure on the texans and the eagles to hire a person of color. I don't think that they're going to pick a guy because of their color. I don't think i don't believe so. But you know and this has nothing against dan campbell. Dan campbell might be a great head coach and he might be completely deserving assistant head coach of the saints. It's not a shocker. Doesn't like hiring. Joe judge or you know when john harbaugh and mike tomlin got higher. Those guys weren't even coordinator so you'd like well. We're that come from but those guys do not be pretty good. But there's still no shortage of you know these race related issues especially during this time of racial justice. As i mentioned the power alliance getting involved as well Just about every team seemed to hired leslie frazier just to say you know who knows if they really wanted him or not. You know who's who's to say that. And you know. I i believe in america. Crecy as businesses and s the one thing that always kind of My only beef about in the military is how long you stay in is how you rank up. And i'd rather see you guys get battlefield commissions. You know who are the real leaders here when the bullet start flying And unfortunately that's not always the case but other than that If eric be enemy does not get one of these last two jobs now. That could very well. Just be waiting for eric. The enemy to get done with the afc championship if the chiefs lose or the super bowl. One way or the other as far as kansas city goes but this is a guy who has done nothing but it. But you know as i said what if erik gandini is a terrible interview. You know. I don't know but you know as each of these hires comes in start to think. Oh you know when are we gonna actually beginning personal color when you look at like the forty niners who.

"Obviously so many people have stepped up, and it's just unfortunate first before the update, the NFL is letting the four teams left allowed virtual interviews for their assistant coaches. So Casey reportedly Letting Eric the enemy chat with the Texans today, and the Eagles will speak with Buck's D. C. Todd Bowles, the Chargers air going with Brandon Staley as their new head coach. She spent this season as the Rams defensive coordinator after just three seasons total between Chicago and Denver. And that is it for his NFL experience. He comes into the league in 2017. And by 2021. He's a head coach. The Lions, meanwhile, finalizing agreement with Saint's assistant head coach Dan Campbell to be their head coach. Campbell has never been a coordinator before, but did serve 12 games as the Dolphins interim coach in 2015 when they fired Joe Philbin. There is Mbabazi. So 72 players, none of whom were among those five positives have to quarantine now for the next two weeks in Melbourne Bill back to you because I have a quick question for you before before you head out because you I would not describe you is the most Confrontational person on earth. I think you're the right guy to ask this What do you feel like? Is the social media following requirement for colleagues in terms of like Twitter following like, what is the you know you're a radio host at a place together or your regional managers and insurance. Conglomerate together or your own? No offensive lineman, you know, for for an NFL team, your your your your cluster together. What's the What's the sort of breathing the requirement should be socially Especially you don't really like the persons handle like we don't have a my walking into a trap. Right here, Tom. You can not yesterday trap Just like that can happen is like I feel sort of liberated. But I feel bad about my liberation. I fell everybody that I work with and a colleague. Unfollowed me on Twitter and All I felt was massive relief as I was able to push the unfollowed button without any this sort of what felt like social obligations to follow for. You know, every taste is that you know is in the eye beholder for me was one of the worst Twitter followers that that I've had in the last. I don't know. And years that I've been on but on the platform I'm wondering, Do I have an obligation to like? You can follow once your own followed, right? Yes. I think the play here not to give this person a pass. But why wouldn't they just mute you? If they didn't want to? Like if they were tired of what you're posting about? Why would they just meet you? Then you'd think they were following you. And you would never and then But you'd never know that's a rookie mistake by them toe on follow and let you and give you the hint that they were out. Yeah, that's I've no as a good I'll say this. I don't do that sort of like weird principle. Like I am just like I'm gonna follow people I follow and I'm gonna own my own follows of my own follow someone. So maybe it's that It was really interesting is this person followed me for a long time, and I was just, you know, I just happen to notice it and normally look, I'm a prideful guy. I'll be like a bunch of people follow me here at the radio station. I'm like, what the hell man? This one was like relief was like, Okay, I'm follow. Like I feel like I'm in the clear now. Right there, soldier. There seems to be intent. Like almost like there's a message being sent here, though, because I'm with bogus, like the mute is so easy and then you never know just a one way train. You cut it off. You don't have to see it anymore. If it's really knowing you, But then there's like the send a message. Which is like I'm going to actually hit theon follow and then wait. It's like a time bomb. Then wait till he figures it out. And then he'll really get the singer. So it seems like you really got the singer now, But it's a courtesy because because can you imagine like if I had to follow this person's a name tweeting forever and not know that they'd muted me. Just like great. Like who needs what a game? Yeah. Thanks. Already Follow Magic Johnson. So I'm I'm good. I'm in the clear. I know who was now that once we gave it away, I just carry. I just wanted you because you're such a nice guy. I wanted you. I wanted you like Normally be like I'd do some soul searching. And if I don't mean wrong that I tweet something was I was not nice on the air, pretty good Two colleagues, But this time I just felt so happy..

Green Bay Packers fire coach Mike McCarthy after loss to Cardinals

"Missed the number opportunities throughout the game. The voice of coach Mike McCarthy actually make that former coach Mike McCarthy he was fired Sunday after the laws replaced by offensive coordinator. Joe Philbin team, president Mark Murphy. In a statement saying the twenty eight eighteen season, quote as not lived up to the expectations and standards of the Green Bay Packers. Mccarthy was in his thirteenth season as coaching Green Bay win the Super Bowl in twenty ten but this is a third straight season where the Packers abs- struggled ESPN Packers reporter robbed Moskvy. This was always going to be a difficult season for McCarthy. Given what happened nearly a year ago when they forced out general manager, Ted Thompson, remember Thompson was the one who hired McCarthy back in two thousand six they didn't just change general managers this off season. They changed the entire power structure, and they only gave McCarthy a one year extension. So he was under contract only through two thousand nineteen and the structure change was this instead of the general manager having the authority over the head coach team, president, Mark Murphy. Took over the authority and McCarthy reported to Murphy, the GM reported to Murphy, it was entirely different power structure. So any sense that this season didn't go or wasn't going to go as well as they had hoped? You had to wonder if this was coming and with those stretch that they've had the four losses in five games on the road. And then coming home today an embarrassing showing on offense. It all goes back to when Aaron Rodgers ripped the offense here after their win over buffalo. That was the first real side of the beginning of the end for Mike McCarthy, as we mentioned Joe Philbin will take over an interim basis, but with that being said long-term word you the Packers go here from here. I should say in terms of a new head coach. Yeah. Well, Michael, I just got a text message right before we went on the air from a player somebody who played prominently in today's game and said who do you think our next head coach will be so even the players want to know that they possibly made this move to try to see if Joe Philbin was the guy.
