"I think that'll be pretty telling in terms of if he's got experience working with mobile quarterbacks, or if it's a guy that comes from a true pro style system, it may not be a harbinger of optimism for what the bears believe they have in Justin Fields. And then having your D.C. to not just make the right higher an offensive coordinator, but to leave him the fuck alone. And not influence in game decisions. That's kind of the interesting part of this. Just an example that comes to my mind because I'm a Shanahan guy and we're seeing its surface all week, but there's this clip now out there where Mike peten was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns at the time defensive minded guy. And this is when manziel is the quarterback, but I don't think he's actually playing. But there is a situation in late game where Mike Pence telling Kyle Shanahan what to run. And Kyle Shanahan's looking at him like, you got to be kidding me, but he gives him a smirk. And Patton's like, I think we should run the ball here. And Kyle Shanahan just kind of looks at him, gives him a smirk and then goes play action pass for a touchdown in Patton's like, good call. If you're hiring a defensive coordinator, you have to make sure that he is willing just to get out of the way. Especially when you have a young quarterback like Justin field. So The O.C. position becomes huge, but I keep coming back to this in the year 2021. The reason I like hiring offensive minds is that eventually if you're OC is the Grand Slam higher, he's gonna be a head coach inside of two years. And now you're having to make the higher again, which forces you to be perfect in your second OC higher forces you to not have to find a guy. You need to find a guy that runs a similar system. So you're not wasting 18 months of Justin Fields in his prime learning a brand new offense. And so those are always the struggles when you ultimately elect a higher defense coordinate is that if he makes the most picture perfect hire as an OZ, that OC's gone inside of two years. And you've got to do it all over again and be perfect once again. It's so much goes into all the small decisions and obviously the domino effect that it has when you look at one higher nothing stands alone in a vacuum and you try and identify the most successful franchises in terms of the mindset that they have, the approach to personnel and the way they handle their business. There's a reason that the good teams stay good and the bad teams continue to scuffle year in year out. So for all those teams out there hoping for optimism and that hope springs eternal with some of the fresh faces you'll bring around your organization. It'll be very interesting to see over the next couple of weeks, especially leading up to the draft and how the anticipation builds for the start of next season. But there are four fan bases pain that aren't worried about next year. They're very much focused on Sunday and trying to punch their ticket. To Los Angeles to vie for the Lombardi trophy. And the first game we have on Sunday, at arrowhead stadium highlights the Kansas City Chiefs against the Cincinnati Bengals and it's the chiefs. A 7 point favorite at FanDuel sports book total on the game sits at 54 and a half. Credit to the bangles first and foremost, going from 6 wins in the two years prior to a conference championship appearance, something that has never been done in the history of pro football. So Zack Taylor, whatever it took, more power to Joe pearl than anybody else. But clearly the bangles a lot of reason to be optimistic for their Cinderella story, meanwhile, this is a Kansas City Chiefs team, no stranger to getting to a conference championship game Andy Reid in his fourth straight as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs defeat that he accomplished in Philadelphia. Years ago at the turn of the 2000s with Donovan McNabb, we know these two teams did battle earlier this season again the Cincinnati Bengals won outright a short home underdogs 34, 31. And Joe burrow to his credit this season. 5 and a straight up as a dog of three plus points. Cincinnati has not found themselves as an underdog of this magnitude all season long. And since 1970, there have been 7 touchdown underdogs to win their conference championship games, the ravens where the team to do it most recently back in 2012, paint if the bangles are going to be successful and play giant killer on Sunday, what kind of game plan do they need to employ and more importantly is this defense going to be up to the task? Score. Score some points. I mean, that's really what this comes down. That's why they pay him the big bucks around here, folks. Right. You kind of hit this perfectly, right? That this is awesome for Bengals fans. What a ride. You're way ahead of schedule. You were pegged to be a 6 and a half win team. Blown through that. This is as much as you could have hoped for. Joe burrow, real deal, right? He's a true franchise quarterback. Total baller. Not just the skill set, but you can tell. His vibe is a little different. He's got a good mindset. He's a stone cold killer. He's got ice in his veins. This is kind of what I was saying when people were like first time quarterback in the playoffs. He's a different dude. But is better we have to separate end result from reality and maybe burrows so good that he defies all the logic. But in round one you got the Raiders. It's a below average football team, only team worst to make the playoffs with Pittsburgh. Round two, you get the Titans who you're familiar with. And I'll explain a little bit of that later. But Tennessee is the worst number one seed by our power rating since we started doing this at a very high level in 2004. And again, awesome, you survived an advanced and that's all that matters for fans and teams. Fist in the air. Keep the dream alive. But in those two wins, the Bengals offense, which casual fans continue and to think is elite, along with the media, 39% success rate in the first two games of the playoffs. 24% of runs the last two weeks of greatest successful. You were out gained by the Raiders. By .4 yards per play. Titans out gained you by 1.4 yards per play. Cincinnati is a plus four in turnovers, right? They've defied all the odds. You even look at some of these historic numbers in regards to the sacks they allowed. Teams that have allowed 7 sacks since 2002 have won just 12% of their games to 213 game sample. The bangles did that last week. But I just keep doing that. That's not true. They didn't allow 7 sex. They allowed 9. Yeah. Yes, at least 7 sacks is the trend there. Now this isn't going to surprise anybody, right? We've talked about these teams AD nauseam over the last month. These were the teams that were battling for playoff positions. Those were the key games that we broke down. We've now broken them down multiple links in the playoffs. But you keep coming back to Cincinnati at its core offensively being 18th and success rate on the season 18th and overall offensive efficiency despite facing the second easiest schedule of defenses. Nothing is really improved metrically. And specific to this matchup, the way spags defense plays, which is man, lots of press, blitzing. That might allow the Bengals weapons to be in position to win these one on one matchups. And that's exactly what happened in week 17. Jamar chase won those matchups, whether it was the hope and he jumped balls or making plays after the catch. Bengals often said 264 yards of offense after the catch in week 17 against the chief..

"The chances where we reach across the aisle and occasionally poke someone in the eye it's that time of year and sports kids where everybody gets together and Indianapolis and they stare at guys half naked make them run jump do all kinds of things have measurements like your hand size I think the only thing with the hands if you have a lot of fumbles nine have a lot of fun though so it's I think it's a non factor I don't get paid to you know talk about measurements and analyze the measurements I get played play football so that's what I'm gonna do this so I figure that's Joe pearl the potential number one pick that everybody thinks the bangles we'll use that pick to pick him right but I guess they're talking about hand size this is how crazy this is that much we love this sport yeah they have first thing it's a fun story you know gives you something to talk about but surely been around a lot of good quarterbacks that have had what people think her small hands they've been really effective in this league and so there's no concerns about the stuff that secular he's the coach I don't know really what about so you ideally you want to be about ten ten inches your answers right average person probably seven or eight if you want to be in so that way the football grip the football coach they're worried about that will it pop out man with a tap out what's going happen I don't know he seems to do okay did have a lot of fumbles got a good head and shoulders so we'll see on the other side you got somebody like to attend the follow up who is also the problem is is is he able to stay on the field right this is a kid who is just awesome but it seems to be is made of of class this.

The Myth of Quarterback Hand Size

The Myth of Quarterback Hand Size

"So let's talk some measurements. That's what went down today. The consensus number one overall pick Joe. Pearls hand sized came in at nine inches. Listen to this. The last quarterback that man that small drafted first overall was jared. Goff BACK IN TWO THOUSAND SIXTEEN GUYS. So that's some comparison it's annual. Nfl tradition every year were introduced to the incoming class of rookie quarterbacks. And we're told that a single measurement matters hand size but what if the metric is totally meaningless as the NFL combine unfolds in Indianapolis we investigate the connection between big hands and big production and ask whether Scouts are chasing a myth. I mean it's Tuesday February twenty fifth this is espn daily presented by ADT. Dave I was very self-conscious reading this piece because I don't know if you know this about me but I have tiny tiny hands. I have gigantic cans. Do you See come on tiny baby hands. Dave Flemming is a senior writer for. Espn his report on the NFL's obsession with quarterback hand size publishes ESPN DOT com today. So Dave yesterday was a big day for the quarterback prospects at this year's combine the annual release of the hand size measurements and the annual freak out about said measurements. Well I mean. It's like a national scouting holiday when the the QB hand size measurements. Come out because there is the belief that the distance between a potential NFL quarterbacks tip of his pinky and the tip of his thumb directly correlates to their success in the NFL. That's why we care just to give people sort of a framework here. What what is the big hand? And what is this small hand in football world red flags and NFL SCOUTING? Go up if your hand is smaller than nine and a half inches. But the guys who are said to have hands the size of Catcher's Mitts are. That's generally anything above ten inches. The normal size of adult humans hand is like eight and a half inches eight eight eight point seven five inches right now. Everyone is listening to this. Podcast is looking at their hands if they're under STEERING WHEEL WONDERING DO. I have two small hands. I've never thought about it until this very moment. Well Yeah and I think that is also part of it right that it's a myth or a theory or a legend that are virility is directly connected to the size of our hands that basically goes back to the beginning of time so in that sense. It seems logical that that we care about. How big a quarterback's hands are. What is the origin of the belief in the NFL world? That big hands equals good quarterback as far as I could tell were really took off with with Brett farve scouts and just people in general trying to quantify any way they could why this guy who was sort of a washout in Atlanta would go to the freezing cold and ice elements inside Lambeau field and become a three time. Mvp I mean. I think that's just human nature and scouting in general right that it's like whoa something weird like this happens. We want to be able to quantify it honestly. I think the there were some packers personnel. Who sort of wanted to claim credit for basically knowing in advance that he would be great because of his hand size and then what happens is human nature takes over right and people are like well. That's that's gotta be true. Look at Brett Farr for Lou peyton manning or look at Russell Wilson drew brees. I mean their hands are huge. So therefore air go right. All good quarterbacks have to have big hands breezing. Wilson are interesting examples. Because those were quarterbacks who were not universally seen as being sure things? Yeah in cases like that especially with Russell Wilson. You've got a really influential scouting and personnel department in Seattle right. That is sort of the envy of the rest of the League. And what happens is they. They can't decide. They're worried about picking him so high mainly because of his height and then one of the things that pushes him over the edge in their minds is the fact that he's got huge hands. I think the bigger the hands the easier it is to grip the football and let it rip so for me this this pointer finger right near the tip of the football and let spent basically he should be like seven foot seven if you go proportionately of for how big his hands are so the seahawks based on this data get pushed over the edge. They're like okay. We're GonNa Take Russell Wilson and then retrospectively. It's like Oh look at that. How genius that was that. We went by his hand size. And then that sort of proliferates the myth through all these other kind of envious scouting department's and the same thing for debris. I mean he's a short guy but he's got huge hands data on S. U. Y. When did you as a reporter? Who's been covering football for a long time? I start to doubt the correlation between hand size and being good quarterback I was at years ago at Jamarcus Russell's pro day at at Lsu and it was not good and as he finished up his workout. I walked out with a GM and a coach that I respected and I was like what did you guys think. That was very good and they both were like. Yeah but did you see his hands? They were huge. I think the coach even said it's like he's got an extra knuckle and I was like what that doesn't make any sense right. He could barely connect with his wide receivers on these on routes where there was no defense and they walked out of there going. Yeah but his hands are so huge. He's a can't miss prospect and ever since then really it was kind of like we need to look into this because it doesn't make any sense there have been exhaustive studies including one we did at ESPN. That went back over the last ten graphs and compared quarterback hand size to fumble rate per game and then Qbr overall there is zero correlation between the size of a quarterback's hand and their performance in the NFL. Zero correlation if anything it was in reverse the GUYS WITH QUOTE UNQUOTE SMALLER. Hands fumbled at the same rate and had a higher qbr than quarterbacks with bigger hands. It's like I don't understand. It takes two seconds to look this up to see if there's any correlation and what happens is you look at the data and you go. Well what's going on it's laughable coaches say? Oh hand size is more important than how Tala quarterback is I've read quote unquote draft experts. Who are saying you know in some situations. The size of a quarterback's hand is more important than his arm strength. What and Yes yes. It's never ending. You make a really important point story beyond questioning you know. The connection hand size measurements themselves are not very reliable. This the more you look into this it just gets sillier and Sillier and the fact that between the senior bowl and the combine and then pro day workouts on college campuses. There's no universally accepted way to measure a hand so you could go to the combine and where there's a ruler tape to a desktop and you have to put your hand down and they measure the distance between your thumb and your pinky and that's your hand size and three weeks later at your pro day. They might ask you to just hold your hand up in the air and they would spread a tape measure between your pinky and your psalm. And and that's your hand size one. You can lean into and spread your hands out on a desk. The only thing wrong with the theory of quarterback hand size is that it's fundamentally flawed on every single level if grip strength is more important. Sounds like you think it is. Why don't teams measure that? I honestly that's the million dollar question right. I think that they think that. There's a correlation between size and strength of a grip that's like measuring a kickers foot size to try and predict how long his field goals will be. I think that they think they're measuring for hand strength. And they're not they're measuring hand size and those are two completely different things. There's an entire cottage industry in the draft process of preparing these quarterbacks for you know the combine drills the interviews. Is there any preparation they can do? I can't believe I'm asking a question to make. Their hands seem larger. Yes absolutely there are players because they have no choice. That will hire your hand. Masseuses to loosen up the connective tissue in their hand just so that they can get that measurement over nine inches and sort of. Check that box off Brandon Allen. Who's now a backup in? Denver is a perfect example of that right. He went into the senior bowl. Didn't even realize hand measurement was a thing and just sorta held his hand up and they were like oh eight and a half inches. And everyone's like Oh my God his career's over and so between the senior bowl and the combine the masseuse that he was already working with spend a little extra time massaging his hand and then when he got to the combine he really concentrated on the measurement spread his hand out as far as he could and I think he got just under nine inches and again like the talk of the combine. Was this guy's magical hand masseuse. And he told me right that other quarterbacks with tiny hands we're blowing up his phone asking him what his secret was and and could they get the number of his masseuse coming up. How our brains allow this and other faulty? Nfl Scouting Practices to persist

"Your ballot well eight hundred and forty one people voted Joe Perot first place in the Heisman Trophy that was upwards of ninety percent of them I was one of them Joe burrow number one on my balance in every way shape or form one of the best most accomplished and most deserving Ivan Heisman Trophy winners we've ever seen totally deserving and has a chance to win a national championship in cap off what could be one of the greatest seasons ever ever put together by college quarterback well in in I know that this was it this was a give me but give me the moment was there a play was there a when did you know Joe Berle was going to be your number one I think the Alabama game in mid not early November wait when one versus two when you go into Tuscaloosa and you just out play to a ton of I love who also threw for over forty yards in that game and you've put up forty six points on the Knicks saving defense in Tuscaloosa that's when you sort of had a really good feeling that it was a it was his award and and but you want but all voters should be waiting until after the all the games to be played and by the time the Georgia game rolls around the SEC championship game and he does it again to a Georgia defense it's even better than Alabama it was a it was all but locked up but he just had a spectacular season from start to finish dominated college football from the first week the last week well if but number one was easy the the next one was clearly not number two all right let's hear your number to win why was this so difficult for you I think there's a lot of deserving candidates because Joe pearl was such a runaway winner and beauty to the IP holder is it about stats is about team success is it about talent you know you know play making ability value to your team or some different ways you can look at it I had just in fields of the quarterback from Ohio state at number two on my ballot twenty people voted him first place that was actually number two behind Joe burrows so even though he finished fourth in the right in in the actual voting yet he had more so first place votes than anybody else outside a job or so I just think fifty total touchdowns one interception that is an incredible stat line for a quarterback leading a house state to a perfect unbeaten season.

"NBRC six eighty. I'm chris. College football studios, presented by Mercedes Benz vans. The VR Citrus Bowl Kentucky clinging to a three point lead in the second half. But able to drive down to the doorstep of Penn State Snell in the back of the pistol was six offensive lineman for Kentucky the snap the camp to Benny. In touchdown. Snell, electrifying the wildcat fans. And they lead it sixteen to seven the colony SPN radio a seventeen seven Kentucky in the third quarter. Meanwhile, Iowa twenty seven twenty two winner in the outback bowl. They knocked off number eighteen Mississippi State that wants a final back to Glendale, we go once again Bolivia decker on the sideline alongside Kelly stopper. Here's gays Manetti. Great to hear the crowd of Belfort, Massachusetts, Chris Villani with our scoreboard update. Thirty one Twenty-one year score LSU with the lead over UCF Joe borough four touchdown passes. And he said we asked him look, do you fear? What happened to Auburn last year little sleepwalking against UCF? He said if you're facing an undefeated team, and you get off the plane unmotivated, you shouldn't have been on the plane in the first place. That's a great point. That's all I have to say about. Okay. What can it be like, there's more? Look, you're. You're not the best analyst for nothing. S here to kick off for the thirty five yard line at the approach and sends it toward the end zone. A steady diet of touchback from Atkins and UCF will have it at the twenty five yard line. First and ten GB. Now, you have more to say, well, yeah. About some schematic things here LSU hasn't statistically ran the ball. All that. Well, but the things that go into a defense Didi to stop the run game. Like LSU has opens up those opportunities in the past game. So in a sense what Joe Pearl is doing in the past game is a byproduct of what UCF his head to commit to the line of scrimmage defensively. And that's how you take advantage of turned into a big place. I intend to MAC the twenty-five McRae with the ball at his belly. He extends to the twenty eight. It'll be second out at seven divinity with the stop. I don't think tempo is really hurt. LSU a taunt until that defensive front gets a little tired of the second half of snapped. Try to rub it's three yard. He gets to the twenty nine. He does get one yard third down at six twelve thirteen to go third quarter. Their last drive. What fifty seconds of this one's imperil to no question about it? And that's the downside of playing fast. Your defense may be right back out here wins right Davis to the left staff tobacco way. Action settles it down the middle of the field and a sliding dry. It goes pin bowling away in complete stealth had it down on the ground, but it was booted away and it spat out.

"Kelly stopper. Jason Bonetti are tire crew in Glendale state farm, Sadie of twelve fifty nine to go first half LSU is just scored on a forty nine yard strike to Dylan from borough kickoff from the Tigers goes left to right through the end zone for a touchback past Adrian killers junior. How important is this? Dr right now for UCF. I think it ports as we've said before it's going to be a game of answering. We can already see that both offenses a play pretty decently. But now that LSU seems to have woken up just a little bit more interested in playing and I think Joe Pearl his bid sharp the last couple series of throwing the football UCF is going to have to obviously score supports. They're going to have to do it. Without a kickoff return because at pins has been a touchback to the ball right has sparked Mackel out of the backfield for now. Now a man in motion catches tosses immediately killings. Is mass Packer the twenty yard line by Rashard Lawrence a loss of five Lawrence was right in his kitchen in Lawrence plan. The right tackle is. We have shenanigans going on with everyone outside every the right now MAC rolling to the left. Throws it down the sideline incomplete. It looked like a swinging gate for an extra point. But the gate never moved. And neither did the UCF offense. The entire offense of line along with number two otas, Sanderson were outside the numbers to the right? And then it was a single receiver to the left, which is actually where Darrell Mack wanted to go with the football. But it's all about how the defense the just to that odd formation and use LSU did a pretty good job there for fifteen twenty at UCF territory back out of the gun twelve thirty five to go. First half LSU up seventeen fourteen techy. The play play clock out of four. Shotgun to take a step back and three next steps up. Dodgers one man rolling to the right now giving ground that has to suck it out of bounds to his sideline. Twelve twenty six to go in quarter, number two. And Devon white was the man that pursued white was also the guy who said look if they want to go temple. That's fine. We get a three and out our offense gets the success. And that's what happened right there. Yeah. And I couldn't agree more. You have a negative play on first down. You try a trick play on second down. It was a pothole and so your third and behind the sticks against an LSU team and David Aranda the coordinator that is gonna try to light Daryl back up and they did on that playwright there back louder northbound to Jefferson stands. Still thirty five louder milk takes it drives it with the leg and sends it toward the left side Jefferson waves ever went up. It goes tumbling down. Inside the twenty-five louder notes successfully flips the field down to the twenty two yard line. It's a fifty eight yard punt with no return at a key time for UCLA little breathing room there, but the defense. Yeah. That was not a very good effort by louder. Now put the the role was significant. I really liked the sharpness of Joe Berle in the last couple of series the way he sees things. But also the the ball placement in the type of throw he's been driving it when he needs to drive it and dropping into shirt pocket a receivers when he needs to do that. Like he did with Justin Jefferson is out of the shotgun here. First and ten twenty two. Twelve plus to go in the quarter, stab handoff set looks at Jefferson inside the fifteen takes a long step and gets dropped Jefferson. A hit by Titus Davis losses. Six both coordinators going deep into the playbook. Not for a whole lot of reason. The offense is we're doing. Okay. Yeah. I think I think sometimes coordinators play callers. Really over adjusting. They over think the game at sometimes half. It's working. Let's not try to fix it. And they go to these trick poison. Sometimes it's the trick plays that are unsuccessful. Get off. Pollock second and fifteen Edward's AllAire the tailback receiver in motion right till up twins to the right snap to burrow steps. Back in the pocket. A twenty twenty five. Thirty Sullivan is finally dropped thirty five yard line at across there to the thirty six by Richie grant, data nineteen and that was wide open surf for Sullivan. Yeah. This is a great job of what's called anticipatory playcalling understanding ill issues understanding they're gonna get a man to man coverage on the back end in. So solvent is the slot receiver on the lack and essentially. Three because of a pit comes across the formation in his all by himself. Thirty six outside. Right. Ten fifty eight. I have staff to burrow. Handoff Edwards running inside. Right. Turns it back and goes back side. I out of the forty yard line. Four seconds six for LSU. Seventeen fourteen. The bayou Bengals with the lead off a forty nine yard completion to Derek Dylan from Joe Perlas drive. We haven't heard from Nick brusett recently as well. And he's the figurehead of that downhill kinda pound you into submission type run game with LSU. Surprise. We have some wildcat yet the playbook against UCF the American championship how some movement app allied, including Joey Connors who does get back down to four zero Texas now jacket green loads up at throw nearside pink grabbing a tiptoe out of the sidelines of Tobar chase pioneered or Wrangler for again at night at an LSU. I down. And once again the ball placement Titus Davis. Was the guy on coverage? Chase just goes up. The defenders not looking back at the quarterback, the receiver is and then a job rural just places the football appropriately the receiver in this case chase his goes up and makes the uncontested while we know it could lead. It was a long jump champion high school tomorrow chase I down at ten LSU at the forty nine and their own territory. Staff to broaden the shotgun. Quick set fans it out every the catch. Forty fifty. I should say up past the forty five and out of bounds to the forty four yard line with a hit gain of aid for Edwards layer Edwards layers. What's the free releaser? Sometimes they're running backs are factored into pass protection. Sometimes the way you pass protect is simply release that die into the flat. And if the defender does it he'll with running back, then he's wide open as Larry was right there. Beautifully done gain of eight second down to Pearl out of the personal hands off Edwards e layer. He is trucked the forty four and knocked back by patches Inskeep. The senior a Roswell Georgia put the shoulder down and kept him the first down third and short. They call him savage, Pat for a reason, and he was quick to diagnose and run and do some mayhem. I doubt and two borough. Does give it up for a first down run. They go to Edwards e layer pass the forty two thirty nine and a first down LSU. And looking forward to twenty nineteen season. I think this is who L LSU wants to be offensive lick which grew coming back and couldn't expand the playbook just a little bit. But it's. Doc plays fishy past game. And then brutally physical run game. Eight ten to go first half LSU with that one game leading seventeen to fourteen staff to look thirty nine. Steps up in the pocket himself out of pressure. Now throws on the run far sideline. Ball was tipped and incomplete over at the far side rights, and it was Terence Marshall junior. The freshmen who couldn't pull it in Joe borough in the pocket literally takes a fairly violent slap upside the head the defensive end was Randy Carlton coming from the right edge. The backside of the quarterback in almost circus finger in the air hole at a time out on the field. Seven fifty five to go..

"To chase the quarterback and win the quarterback. Joe Berle who's pretty nifty and manipulating the pocket when he gets pressure. It's a different thing altogether. When you're trying to get away from a safety type. That's chasing the quarterback in the park yet. The penalty gives LSU occurs. The UCF thirty to burrow under center. This time, bro. Set behind the bro. Takes the staff hand off set running with a head of steam across the lied and thrilled at the twenty seven yard line. It's a gain of five and a half ramp with the stop second down fourteen thousand a winner today. I don't think it is. And I think the thing that has to happen with LSU offensively is they have to get in sync their run game. That's the table center for what LSU wants to get done, regardless of how they window-dress things. The bottom line is they want to own the tackle box of right now. They haven't consistently they work with a tight set and flags. Come in off the snap. Garrett Brumfield got knocked down by D lineman. The left guard for LSU Christie hill was in there. A little early. Side with contacts defense five yard penalty. So it's officially second down. Although it was second down and five. So we'll see whether or not that does result in a first down or if it's a little bit short. It is second down and very short. Bro. Works under center tight for Mason left, including more tight end and Sullivan the wide receiver set setback. Gracie mcmath wide to the right side for audio tape transfer who's been to this game before working under Saturday takes us that give to set running shut one tackler. Now, he's hit at the twenty five town Clark went and stood him up providing the old Denver boot law. So what? What is the Denver? That's what you don't pay your parking tickets. They put something on your tire that you can't move your car. Just do that in Denver. Where's your name? We'll check on the later. We have a big third and one coming up fourteen to three you see up to forty two to go first quarter. Twenty three ball has Mark left wins, right, including Jefferson, one to the left out of the shotgun. Borough blow set to his left Perot takes the staff hands it off. Trying to slink through a hall, and he's going to get there. Now, he turns the legs trying to boost the pile forward. And we will look at the spot is grant got in there. I it looks like Rossetti short to set up fourth out. I think LSU goes for right now. If you think your biggest advantage today is an offensive line that can get lathered up and go downhill you have to. Down gauntlet here. They will try to to go first quarter to borough. Did immediately. He leans forward very close to the line to gain at the twenty two yard line. UCS coaches stepped out onto the field and celebration initially. But we will see exactly it is a I doubt Qatar's didn't get there soon up LSU just barely had it. Yeah. And it was good effort update at the end of that run by it because I don't think he did have it initially, but he launched right over the line to gain at the very end before either knee came down. And I think it was correctly called on the field. Don't give them a twenty two yard line. One forty to go first quarter and a building block LSU down fourteen to three on the ball. Joe Pearl out of the shotgun. The Ohio native takes the snap. Play accident up a rocket left side. Tougher. Touchdown. He was a human the back left corner. And somehow to put in there for LSU score. That was a marvel from Jefferson, Joe grows main responsibility is to find the advantage in the past game. Where do I have one on one? And how do I give them the football to? I these men to men was sensually Jefferson runs a fade route and quarterback borough dropped it, right? Initiate pot. What role at what a cat's Tracy for the extra point these strikes hit through five? Oh, five on the drive. A twenty two yard score. So one twenty seven to go first quarter, UCF, fourteen.

"Decapitated Joe borough on that pick six and didn't get called for it. And Brandon more does there is no foul for late hit out about all by. Look these offensive lineman. Somebody's gonna step up and hit somebody. Yeah. In Joe Pearl needs to do this. I think it should have actually been a late yet. Joe girl gave himself up was one full step out of bounds with his right foot. It wasn't much of a hit by Brandon more. But it was enough that quota of propelled the quarterback into the bench. And that's where people get hurt. But at the end of the day, you're right. It's about to get chip point. Point LSU acts like they should act like they need to be out here player. I intent UCF thirty nights. Snap to burrow. Handoff Edwards e Laremy stacked up all two on the plate of the forty one yard line. Second down and twelve coming up four fifty three to go. First quarter, PlayStation, fiesta, bowl, fourteen three UCLA. GB? I think the biggest advantage LSU has is upfront offense of wine big running backs running downhill, but right now LSU's offensive line is having trouble with what they call the landmarks. It's who to get and how to get there to get him and LSU is just not getting people had it up on that offensive line in the run game borough told us how important that run game would be on the first quarter second out snap. He unloaded to throw its tip that incomplete batted away by Clark who was riding Jefferson to the ground on a quick hitter from borough third at twelve once again, very. Little separation between the receiver running. Dig row, a Jefferson and and Clark. And that's what we've seen most of the time very little separation the passes that had been completed have been thrown in to narrow windows by Joe borough. Out face with a third down and twelve from the forty one at UCF territory. He deploys trips to the left. We're all out of the gun takes the staff. He dances back at three pressure. Coming pets. They're down at the forty eight yard lied. Kyle Gibson a safety with a sack for UCF. There are flags doubt on the play at the forty nine yard line. Let's play was over sportsmanlike conduct number fifty eight defense his first of the game fifteen yard penalty. I style. It's outta Randy Charlton the freshman out of Miami. And a first down LSU. "Shade. At Auburn hair was some shade being thrown in LSU's tired of that narrative, the national championship and all of those things, but you know, what you have to do you have to come out in a game. And you have to back it up. And right now, there's one team that's way, more excited to be out of your point in the in the other team off the taunting penalty on the touchdown kickoff the twenty so right lines. This oughta ballots passed the thirty pass broach. Set Edwards e layer at the twenty-five jobs outside through the hash marks to the thirty four and he's downstairs. Go to Olympia downstairs on that. No. You know, some players that have been talking this week less you they said our guys are tired of it. I think the whole country is tired of it. And when I spoke to coach order on before the game. He said look our motivation is our last game. It never should have gone to overtime. Let alone seven overtimes in their loss against take tech saying that they're not using all of that background noise as motivation for this when they're focused on the Tigers verandahs said they were wearing a starlet butter that who's not tired of Libya. Jason bananas not tired. Well, look I've had them in my top four all season long. How sorry there's a snap the thirty four. Handoff Edward t Larry. And he's driven back like a blocking sled find Nobel Clark. It's a gain of two but Clark stood him up. Pretty good. Randy Shannon, D coordinator of US UCF is not going to be bashful about getting hats on the line of scrimmage there. Amanda man team. Anyway, they'll play too high demand underneath or one free, which is simply a single high safety, and man and right now, I think Randy Shannon has to be tickled pink about the match up of his defensive backfield against the wide receivers. LSU? They've got a pick six fourteen to three lead under six to go. First quarter borough shotgun short side, left takes this nap. The thirty five loads up throw down the middle. It has a completion all the way to midfield. It's a gain of fifteen to Stephen Sullivan at a I doubt LSU, we'll taunt by Joe Pearl. That time Sullivan was on the outside coming on a slight dig route coverage got deep throw the ball underneath. For all plaques in Edwards e layer wants to throw pump fakes rolls to his right borough rolled into the fifty up the forty five outta balanced tiptoeing. He got clipped a little bit. And a flag comes in late as borough got side swiped by Brandon just had the interception with joy, Connor almost decapitated Joe borough on that pick six and didn't get called forward. And Brandon more does there is no foul for late hit out about all by. Look these offensive lineman. Somebody's gonna step up and hit somebody. Yeah. In Joe Berle needs to do this. I think it should have actually been a late hit Joe girl gave himself up was one full step out of bounds with his right foot. It wasn't much of a hit by Brandon more. But it was enough that could have propelled the quarterback into the bench. That's more people get hurt. But at the end of the day, you're right. It's about to get chip. The LSU acts like they should act like they need to be out here. Oy. I intend to UCF thirty nine snap to burrow. Handoff edwards. Larry stacked up a loss to on the plate of a forty one yard line. Second down twelve coming up. Four fifty three to go. First quarter, PlayStation, fiesta bowl. Fourteen three UCLA. TV? I think the biggest advantage LSU has his upfront offensive line. Big running backs running downhill, the right now LSU's offensive line is having trouble with what they call the landmarks who to get and how to get there to get him and LSU is just not getting people had it up on that offensive line in the run game borough told us how Gordon that run game would be on the first quarter second out snappy unload to throw its tip that incomplete batted away by Clark who was riding Jefferson to the ground on a quick hitter for borough third and twelve looks again, very. Little separation between the receiver running the thig row, Justice, Jefferson and and Clark. And that's what we've seen most of the time very little separation the passes that had been completed have been thrown in to narrow windows by Joe. Burrowed out with a third down and twelve from the forty one at UCF territory. He deploys trips to the left out the gun takes the staff. He dances back in three pressure. Coming. Cuts and down at the forty eight yard line. Kyle Gibson a safety with a sack for UCF. There are flags down on the play at the forty nine yard line. Let's play was over sportsmanlike conduct number fifty eight defense his first of the game fifteen yard penalty. I Al it's outta Randy Charlton the freshman out of Miami. And a first down LSU. Just a needless penalty was celebrating waving his arms in the air. And he draws the flag. Carl gifts it snuck down late the running back came up to get the other Blitzer and then Gibson was just free.

"Shade at Auburn. There was some shade. Being thrown in LSU is tired of that narrative the national championship and all of those things, but you know, what you have to do yet to come out in a game. And you have to back it up. And right now, there's one team that's way, more. Excited to be out here. Pointing in the other team is off the taunting penalty on the touchdown. The kick will come for twenty. So right lines. This kick off a ballots passed the thirty pass road said Edwards. He Larry the twenty-five jobs outside through the hash marks to the thirty four. And he's down there as we go to Libya downstairs guys on that note, you know, some players that have been talking this week less you they said our guys are tired of it.
