"The jets fans there they've got to have like some kind of jets fans scrum that they can get into it so we get to hear them both yeah yeah well they they do no matter what happens because they because the jets fans I mean nothing is going right for them since Joe Namath let's talk about HSA though high school sports what's happening there right bro yeah it looks like it and Kevin can chime in too he's been talking with some coaches I I talk to it to my old high school baseball coach it's kind of weird no spring state tournaments so baseball softball yeah the last ISIS badminton yeah though those are going to happen now there is a slight possibility we don't know how this is going to happen even the coaches I spoke with said they don't know how this is going to happen but that maybe they would allow a couple games here and there if deemed safe I don't know how but apparently they're leaving that open just in case something happens in the next couple weeks they might be able to get a couple days yeah it is not gonna happen and I I just got a text actually from a friend of mine who's a high school volleyball coach and she is livid because not only are that are that high school the IHSA they've it's got completely confusing about this but because and you know their season doesn't start till fall but they do have these tournaments that go on these coaches continue to take these schools out you know the teams they do national tournaments regional turns things like that throughout the summer right and there still booking hotel rooms they are still bookie they these coaches some of them are you know we're still just you know I zooming or or calling their players and staying in touch that with them so they can you know keep the system moving theoretically but it seems like it's just a gigantic kabuki dance because there's nothing really that's going to happen yeah it was a bit misleading at least when it came to the summer camps and things like that because it's in the release from I to say it's it's summer contact days have been suspended what exactly does that I mean we don't know they haven't been canceled now as you mentioned there's a ripple effect if you're gonna start moving back summer camps a summer camp gone all summer for high school sports they have multiple sets of of camps and tournaments and things like that right again just like in baseball you're not gonna ask the pitcher to get on the mound for ninety pitches in a single game without the proper conditions leading up to it you're also not gonna ask football players a strap it up or any of the fall sports to get going if you have it at the proper time to get ready throughout the summer in theory right but there are still going to be crazy decisions you know they're going to be made and we're talking about I HSA here what type of high school kids not to mention the kids that are in junior high or middle school in the area they also have these teams and they're also part of like whether it's traveling baseball right some of these kids by the time they're thirteen fourteen years old they start getting involved in that little league for sure and what is on the lake yeah they haven't started it they said well we'll call you when we're ready but we don't know what we're gonna do whether it's gonna be late summer we might have a fall little league right I mean it's that is it's just it's there are no good answers and I get it I mean that I don't want to and on the ones guys it's just a while ago I don't have an answer of course we know why they don't have an answer at the moment but they should also be honest about the fact that there isn't an answer and there should be some leadership here there should be people stepping up and saying okay here's what's gonna have to have to cancel the season we have to do this we have to do that instead of all you know we'll just have to wait a week the governor already let's just face it they they don't want to freak us out consistently by going well is really gonna be June first everybody knows the earliest the state's gonna start moving again is June first that's the earliest now you do have some other states around the country that are gonna start opening up and we're gonna talk about this coming up in the next hour about you know what's appropriate how do you open up and there are reasonable there are reasonable answers that A. L. on both sides of this are reasonable answers on the on the side of opening up some businesses in some places and maybe a state doesn't have to be monolithic right because the stuff is happening in downstate in Jo Daviess county route St Joe Davis county is a little different than what's gonna be happening in cook county right so that's that is all true however you do have like in Georgia where the guys are doing it across the board and you've got you know one of the top what is almost ten largest metropolitan areas in the nation there and they still they have they still have an exponential increase in cases every day and they're trying to open back up that doesn't make a lot of sense so you have two sides of that you get that people are being super cautious and maybe overly cautious and the people who are just being reckless so there is that there are a lot of is there is some place in between and we need leadership and people got to stop sucking up to the you know it's not trying to take off whether it's the governor the president or somebody else and actually start to come up with a reasonable solutions to this because there are parts of the economy that almost necessarily need to open up and then you've got other of that then you've got other circumstances in cities and other places regular well well well we can't do that yet we are not near where we need to be to have that happen as a play so all of that coming your way gentlemen thank you very much for helping through at least at this part of the the sporting day I think you're gonna end up with baseball without audiences without crowds without fans in the stands for the rest of the season and the young might even see that in football this year we'll see we'll have to see what happens in the fall all right let's do this let's check in with him when she's in the WGN northwestern medicine is forty.

"That kind of thinking wasn't as common twenty thirty years ago when Joe Namath played longer than he probably should have Johnny unite is played probably longer than he should have so I think that's a that's a noble we look at it because you don't wanna be remembered as because unfortunately you will be if you play season too long or two seasons to long a lot of time to go yeah I remember res he was great but the man he really fell off that he doesn't want that to be a part of his legacy look he's a devout Christian and strong family guy we talk about this how much more time to see one of his with his kids that's a question only you can answer but I'm sure that's a factor in his decision if we decide to walk away from football if your parent you know time is with the kids I mean every back you're never gonna give that as much as you want to it sure does he provide those kids with up an amazing lifestyle absolutely but at some point he's going to be in that lifestyle and enjoy that with his kids not just bill provided form but enjoy it with them look breeze a tireless worker meet the grueling schedule for him on off the field did you wanna continue to make that sacrifice and the necessary sacrifices to get ready his body ready for rigorous NFL season it's really hard to keep that edge for this long that's why I have a lot of respect for guys like Brady breeze and others that play in the league for twenty twenty one years to keep that mental such sharp edge for that long and be that discipline is amazing if you gave me the ability the Brady agrees I can tell you right now I wouldn't be able to stay that discipline for that long can I do for a decade maybe but I mean also myself eventually I go man I'm I'm just tired of waking up at five AM to go train in March I want to eat a hamburger I want you know I mean like I I'm not gonna take it meticulously watch my diet fellow that's why I have so much respect for these guys you got some more well a plus you know at this point you've got generational cash does not need to go and do that but that's the other thing yeah that's a great point you brought up think about this if you're if you're breeze how many generations have you set up right for wealth I don't know I'm not I'm not a economic I'm in I'm not a financial planner I would think a good forty five at least at least what if you play one more year you can still play the Lee level and you can make twenty five thirty nine dollars then I set up another generation or two perhaps mean thirty dollars you like think that would that would span I could spend a good another generation and think about that your long and long gone way gone and there's the that that's the sixth generation removed from drew but they're still they're still set up by him think about the legacy that they passed down there that's powerful if we were all in that position I know I wouldn't that's that that your goal as a parent at least it is for me to when you leave this world to leave something for your kids I'm I live on past his records in football yeah you're right you're right in that I think that's important but look the other thing is we gotta consider this as we age it just takes longer and longer to recover from everything work out much less a potential injury I think this five game stretch of the miss this year was a blessing and a curse because we saw how well he played because he didn't throw it towards me passes because of those five games he missed there wasn't as much wear and tear on the arm but I think it put in his mind yeah the answer if this happens again do I really want to go through that something similar am I willing to go that's that that that's what goes was one of my willing to we have an injury mid season or even even after the season say something you need clean up surgery on your knee elbow what have you is he willing to sacrifice and go through that again case in point Max Unger last year he could have played this year he just didn't want to go through the rehab of an off season surgery now he didn't have to have the surgery in order to live everyday life but to play football again he would have had the surgery he will re habit those things factor in these athletes months does he want to subject himself to another injury that my for some of his playing time and require we had to get back on the field I don't know but I know this eventually eventually follow time catches up with everybody he's undefeated just five things I thought of I thought my head as to why drew could retire let's any will I'll give you five reasons later on as to why he should return why you can return they should do so full and open at five oh four two six oh one eight seventy lots of things on the bus fate do you think Ellis use national champion team could be an XFL team also you be the general manager of a run down a list of free agents for the saints who stays and who goes there's a decline Eli apple interest be stay or go Jay Williams von.

How 'Broadway Joe' redefined the NFL

"Com. Hey history lovers. I'm Mike Rosen world with retro pod a show about the past rediscovered fifty years ago a few days before his team took the field as huge underdogs in the super bowl. New York jets quarterback Joe Nemeth known and then and forever as Broadway. Joe arrived at a Miami Hotel in a Turquoise Cadillac Nemeth known to sometimes show Eh Games. Still drunk from the previous evening's activities. was there to accept an award. The quarterback sat on the dais next to his companion for the evening. Mr Johnnie Walker wrote Mark Kriegel in his two thousand five biography when it was his turn to speak Namus said I'd like to personally thank all the single girls in New York for their contribution. This was pure Broadway Joe tipsy free willing amorous and so was the cockiness that emerged from his whiskey. Soft lips later the jets will win in Sunday and said `I garin teeth. I the colts win by a large score. Today I'm GonNa say Baltimore Colts by a score of thirty five to ten. I think New York to win forty one thirty one. Nemo's prediction wasn't just hockey. It was really New York over forty one called the his opponent. The the Baltimore Colts were seventeen point favorites nameless knees were beat up. The colts have the second most potent offense in football in the best defense. Some were predicting a blowout. They said that it couldn't be done. But it has been near. The Third Super Bowl could gets one sixteen to seven was named most valuable player. Performance wasn't all that stellar. He didn't even throw a touchdown. But in critical wrote the moment itself took Namus fame and pro football's popularity to different planet in fame's pecking checking order. Nemeth suddenly outrank Sinatra. The biographer wrote. Actually at that moment he outranked just about everybody who wasn't a beetle doc attendance around the NFL Sword Soda TV or ship particularly with the launch of Monday night football the following season. The League made sure that Nemeth in the jets played in that inaugural game he's going NBA. Joe Name. After George Sauer for the touchdown everyone wanted a piece of Nemeth especially reporters profiles of Nemeth for the nineteen seventies equivalent of Click Bait legendary columnist. Jimmy Breslin wrote a famous story about Nemeth For New York magazine entitled Nemeth All night long in it. He compared the quarterback hanging out at a bar to Babe Ruth hanging out at a bar. I saw ruth once when he came off the golf course and walked into the bar at the Old Bailey side course in queens president wrote in one shot. He swallowed the mixing Xing Glass Ice Chunks. And everything else. He slapped the mixing glass down instead. Give me another one of these things kid. The place went went nuts. It is the same thing when you stand at the bar with Joe Namath. Life went on like this for awhile not surprisingly Nemeth endured his fair share of busted relationships drunk driving charges bad business. The steals fading playing ability in then of course fading fame drinking was the biggest problem. Nemeth was an alcoholic alcoholic. He settled down in Nineteen eighty-four marrying Deborah. mays woman he met at a voice class with her insistence. Nemeth was able to quit drinking a few years later but after they divorced in two thousand Nemeth began heavily drinking again leading to one of the ugliest and most embarrassing moments of his life during a jets game in two thousand three Nemeth wearing his old number and obviously heavily intoxicated intoxicated was interviewed on the sideline by ESPN reporter. Suzy Kolber he answered one of her questions in a truly shocking way. What does it mean to you at now? Team is struggling kiss. I couldn't care less about the teams throttling Nemeth apologized and entered Rehab. Namus is seventy five years old. It's easier for him to look back now on that improbable win and understand and just how much it changed his life and sports forever. I think about it now. He recently told the New York Daily News. But at the time time I

"Five one nine eight nine nine two two six Clinton facts tonight Morales against Nova are pre game at five thirty Chris had a very Korean Danny with the play by play at six ten points won the opener on Thursday three home runs for Nelson Cruz that was a home runs in four consecutive games he adds another one last night mags Kapler a three run bomb early twins crew six to the final and good pitching performances out of burritos end of big money Mike Pineda went seven innings last night once again twins when it's six to two so we'll see your progress can I keep the starters on a role for the twins more on that a little bit later on Minnesota United FC bad connection this long your Eric you know they talk about MLB pitchers and catchers go to camp the end of February the game start now end of February but there's no doubt the balloon started training way back in the winter months they started out on the road in March this season runs through October yeah they have their own marathon going on and really right now it's two seasons in one remember Minnesota United has reached the semifinals of the U. S. open Cup which is played during the regular season of MLS and they're gonna play Portland in a few weeks in the cop but of more importance is what they've got going on tonight at the soccer cathedral known as Ollie ons feel they will host the Vancouver Whitecaps Vancouver twenty points tied for last in the MLS west they are winless in their last ten matches all six and four Minnesota by the way thirty four points and right there in the thick of the playoff chase in the M. L. S. west of course the wounds of never made the postseason and Stevie T. if you count MLS matches and U. S. open Cup play menu has an eight game on beacon street dating back to early June so on paper this looks like a slam dunk a lay up you'll pick your analogy but these are the games that can be dangerous they need to clean three here they don't get a clean three they could drop in the standings quickly yeah and that is quite a story considering how dreadful they were on the road in years one and two in Major League Soccer they they have certainly found the right formula on the road it is it is a good story and I think apply all appearance I would reward these fans really been on board since the days and blame when they played in the north American soccer league and made the move to MLS and once again Ali on field continues to get rave reviews and they they've been able to improve the product in there was a lot of talk of between year two and year three in the move Dalian's feel and how they needed upgrade any you've got to give Adrian heath well I think was on the hot seat many ogle's probably on the hot seat doctor bill McGuire the majority partner right the the front man if you will for Minnesota United FC is a competitive guy and they needed to improve so not only it's just new stadium that's gonna wear off at some point in time you have to have a winning product this sports market is way too competitive and there's a lot of people that know the sports market Chris right came over from the timber wolves now is the president over there they know that it is hard to maintain that you know once you build the base putting a product on the field that wins games is very important yeah it's it's a saturated sports market no doubt about it the pie is sliced into a lot of smaller pieces with the exception of the purple that's the total eclipse of the sun when the Minnesota Vikings or start playing as they have now in training camp but I I think your point is well taken yeah they knew they were going and Ali on field this season there would be a honeymoon with the new venue and they've sold out all the MLS matches but guess what they need to make the postseason and now they've been playing well enough for the fan base is suddenly saying yeah we expected because if you look at the team Minnesota United came in with two years ago it Lana United FC they won the Cup last year they were averaging seventy thousand fans a game down at Mercedes Benz stadium so their expansion because in Atlanta already has won the Cup LA F. C. came in last year and L. A. S. C. has quickly morphed into a power in MLS so if you compare Minnesota United to recent expansion teams the bar of expectation is high and I realize every franchise goes about building a team a different way Minnesota United been a little more conservative in in the way they've allocated in gold out their cash but it's time to cash in on your right about bill McGuire he he knows they got to get it done because this honeymoon will landed Ollie ons but what a wonderful venue it is in Vancouver's there tonight and don't forget on September third Megan Rapinoe Alex Morgan and company the U. S. women the World Cup winners times too we'll be here to play Portugal in that victory tour that's gonna be a fun night yeah and and Megan do in interviews talk show appearances why not I exactly I I know I'm gonna try to get out there and see that match I I might even get an Alex Morgan Jersey in where I love Alex Morgan here's the thing about Major League Soccer go they they've been in this period of rapid expansion of rapid growth they they finally reached critical mass of fuel causes leagues been around awhile and they finally got to the point where teams are building facilities white collar young's field they've they want to get on board they want to get into the mix but the simple fact of the matter is that they're getting good players but it's still not a league that both the best players in the world and going forward for me that this challenge because when it comes to American football as players in the world are in the NFL they're not in the CFL they're not playing overseas the NBA the NHL M. L. B. the one thing you can say and for that matter the PGA tour you could argue that there are quality players on the European tour there are quality players on the Asian tour but as a whole the best players in the world are on the PGA tour so when it comes to American sports I believe that's a gigantic challenge for M. L. as in Major League Soccer going forward because they can't say that that the best players in the world there there are good players there are maybe some players that had great careers Wayne Rooney comes to mind who plays here but he's he's on the downside of his career that's the challenge from melos going forward they can't say with the other leagues can say no and eventually I I think they're going to have to get to that level it's going to take a while they're there sure of these new soccer specific venues has helped because what you have or wonderful facilities that are fan friendly and I I think the athletes like performing in them but it but but you have major leagues in Italy you have up the army ranger leagues in Spain and drive in America and then of course the premier league all you yeah that's exactly right so it's going to be a much bigger challenge to get to the point that point on some level where you can say yup we have the best players in the world or some of the best players in the world I don't think I'm as can say they are not yet wind in Britain for me that's that's a challenge competing in in the big picture in the Markham what's they will need at some point in time by the weather up to twenty four franchises right Austin Texas comes in next year so they're gonna get a football club as they like to say Miami with David Beckham is part of the ownership group now there's a little splash for you back bend it like Beckham so he'll be down in South Florida that's going to put him up to twenty six and I know there are other cities they want in on this like Detroit I think San Diego was expressed in San Diego and I don't know so yeah there are a number of others but well as it could get to thirty right now I think that's probably pretty much that's kind of the number N. B. A.'s at thirty NHL's thirty one NFL's thirty two M. L. B.'s thirty right gel soon to be thirty two yes yeah the Seattle Sakai's that's what I'm hoping they're called but it but here's my point eligible make one they're gonna need at some point to you know kind of a get into what you were touching on Stevie T. if you go back in time this is old school but what put the AFL on the map with the NFL getting guys like Joe Namath and Bobby bell and taking them from the NFL so MLS is gonna need to do that at some point and get some starts from the European premier league or elsewhere and have them come over here to the states and in Canada there's a few teams in Canada as well my opinion not gonna happen not gonna happen in your life times not gonna happen in my lifetime not gonna happen in any of your kids lifetimes the reason why is because this country is I wouldn't say they're fractured with their resources but you talk about other countries around the world what is the number one sport what is the number one athletic endeavor that is in most of these countries around the world it is not basketball it is not American football it is not baseball is not hockey it is it is international football it is soccer and you are not going to have the ground swell that you would in England or Spain or Germany or Brazil or Australia or Japan for most of these other sports then you will for international football they are there's just nothing the yeah these these the papers over there if if you have a cricket match a rugby match that'll that'll garner some headlines football F. U. T. B. O. L. is going to be the main source of your sports page it's not going to be the M. L. B. home run chase is not going to be the patriots going for another Super Bowl it's not going to be whether lebron James can make the Lakers a title contender it is going to be soccer yeah so I I agree Jonathan we we are not going to get to that level in this country it would it would just not an astronomical financial package and also recruiting somebody with the pitch of come over here and raise the level of the MLS with your name your they they would need the the money that you would need to get for them for that you're not get yes you're gonna get probably two three four five times that in Europe people like Cristiano Ronaldo Leonardo messy little messy is one the best players in the world and he's from Argentina they can't get him to stay in Argentina and Brazil and that area Chile that part of the world and they are soccer mad that's because the money is in Europe not going to get that kind of money I anywhere else on the globe I I can remember when the Vikings played the Steelers in twenty thirteen in London and I went over to the UK and the day before I saw Chelsea and Tottenham played the old Hotspur venue and we walked through the player's parking lot on our way out of the stadium and while what they drive I thought it was impressive what I've seen at winter park in the TCM Lamborghinis yeah whatever the thing he's rolls Royces porches I was like holy buckets these guys are doing well in into you know what Jonathan is saying about the coverages true because after that Viking Steelers game at Wembley the twenty thirteen game another break is but the Browns as well over there and it was a great game at eighty thousand fans next day pickup the London tabloids it's all soccer I mean all soccer some rugby I know it about page thirty there was a story on the Steelers in the Vikings and blind I know commissioner Goodell didn't like it but that's the way it is three twenty one here at C. C. O.

"Buy the New York Jets that is one hundred percent. What I spend my time on. And there is a secret part of me that wonders, if I actually want to be the person that brings back the championship. So I'm a huge fan. I watch every play I watch every game three years ago, my brother and I went to all sixteen games online. There's a big passion of mine, but like there was something weird after the Steelers game where I wasn't as upset as the rest of the crew, and we drove back from Pittsburgh. And that was the first time I said, do I actually want this team to win a Super Bowl or do I want to buy this team a win a Super Bowl? That was the first time I actually asked it so you don't get. How do you feel now? Do you still see this, you know, outside of pennington's like I kind of like eight before he got hurt at that first season when he had that incredible run? You know, and as much as I was excited about far of, but I knew was later in his career, and the team that, that far team late in that season before he got hurt was probably when they beat the titans who were undefeated at the time in week eleven that was maybe one of the few times, I was like, maybe this is the team, but out this darnold kid and I've gotten to know him because my brother and I started this sports agency, we recruited him we were in his living room in California, trying to convince them to go with our agency. He didn't go with us. But we struck such a friendship and the last thing I said to his mother, when we were pitching him. I said, MRs darnold, if I had the option if God was listening to me right now and your son would sign with us and go number one overall to Cleveland or not go with us and go three to the jets, I would pick not go with us and three the jets. Oh man. So I'm only I'm this is no question. It's such a it's a quarterback league. And I do think it takes this and this and. All these intangibles I think one of the things that's oftentimes when I get into a nerdy discussion about your career. I you brought up a couple times here today, which is why I'm smiling inside the great great misunders not misunderstanding. The number one thing I think you're most underrated for was what you did inside the locker room in your teammates when who you were in the outside world. Without having the ability to have the humility, and to, to understand the weight you were carrying in the outside world inside the locker room. That is absolutely your legacy as a leader in my opinion. That's why that's why you are who you are. I think Sam has that not that he has the same level of like macro fame. But if you do not know how to work a locker room as a quarterback, and what you have to do off the field if you're not doing. I mean this kids studying film twenty four seven. I think we have a shot with this one. I you know, I agree. Of course, I watched him in college to it as C, and he looked like he had physical tools and all that. But during the course of the season last year hearing his coaches, especially as teammates, Josh mccown about him. And how they talked about him that left a better impression, even you know, getting to meet him. And just visit and briefly a few times with them really respect the like is size. He's bigger than I than I thought he was and can play. But you know it's a team game. It is the team game. Yeah. Team game. Who's the most underrated teammate you ever played with tight end guard? Somebody, you know, obviously, there's the names that we all know but a little bit left field. Anybody stand out as like wow. Like, you know, I wish more people realize what's meaning about sports, and it's the same as running a company, it's subtle intangibles that are very hard to say. See, you know, whether it's picking somebody up on the bench. Whether it's reinforcing something with it's keeping somebody in line, who was starting to be a cancer is there, anybody who stands out that even the hardest core..

"Your you know what? No, man, I liked it. I sold a humorous in first of all, was the job. And it was a good job. And it was with a good company. We blown, by the way, I've seen the commercial billion re blown away how good your legs actually looked in the commercial for anybody who's not watching. Maybe we'll edit it on the blog like it's a panoply of legs. And it's coming up from the toes from left to right. And like it's nice looking legs like, and then all of a sudden it's Joe like did that, like, like were you even stunned when you first saw it like man, these things really work. Wait a minute. If you'd be MS can make these leagues look beautiful still think what they can do for your. No. I chose it a conversion for paying before that company called the hell wall dense. But that was just print. Nobody's got it. You got it. I don't remember that, by the way. My commentating you know you make that transition. You did that for a while. Gary now, you know, you play soccer you play football even sometimes basketball. And you tape, your ankles and knees. You have to shave your legs make sense. So my legs were already shaved. I didn't even have to shave. They look lady was who'd. Talk to me about sports casting, you enjoyed it was I was it or was it not was it like it was a nice thing to do. Like where does that sit? I wasn't educated enough to know that the controversy critiquing needed to be harsher. I was more of a protective player still being a football locker room kinda teammate. And I wasn't really keen on it. I understand talking about, you know, I think a lot of people when they think about back to nursing out a little bit a lot of people talk about Don Maynard. I wanna talk about George Sauer. What kind of teammate was he? You know. Just talk to me about Jordan. Well, they're both from Texas as you know. And you mentioned on Maynard, I and I wanna go back to their Kansas City Chiefs game we have done in that game. He was hurt. We had another Texan bake Turner, but they also had a cornerback that was really good who's in the hall of fame and so they shut down our game pretty good that day, George Sar. I have often said that Don Maynard is in the hall of fame. He was the lightning strike. The knockout punch every team had to respect. His tricky speed man. He was wildly. He was. He was terrific. The guy I liked working best with George, George Sauer, and I were rookies together, heart was he great at route running. He was wonderful run anywhere. He was going to be. Yes. Yes, we would work after practice man, and as rookies together, and we developed the timing that was just wonderful. And, and some of the guys, the veterans would talk about even the coaches don's lack of discipline and route running will excuse me, he knew how to get open. He might have rounded some routes off a little differently than breaking them sharply or whatever he's a hall of Famer you know he was a man, George Sauer. You could always count on George. There was a play that George Cada quick out got hit and fumbled the ball today. They wouldn't call it a fumble. They'd call it incomplete pass. It was that fast. Lenny allows hit him. George was wonderful. What about now phantom wise? Like how, how much do you watch Bama, or the jets or anybody else for that matter? I watch Bama, and I watched the jets week Lee. Yeah. In this day. Say have since you've retired. Took some time off. Or how did that how did your phantom posts career develop? Did you take some time off after he retired? "Then you see and I used to carry sherman's helmet off the practice field from training camp to that day. He would be helmet there, and I would carry it off for him. Right. And I'm sitting there and I look across over there, and they're Sherman, looking at the magazine and I'm looking at chairman and then Sherman picks his head up and you look over me, he smiles, and just the words came out of his mouth. Oh probably way way Joe. And then from that time on. It was cool. It was nice. He co signed it. He, he allowed the rest of the team of to say that. Yeah. That caught on that was cool. Yeah. Really interesting it, it's super interesting for me to look from afar. Somebody who thinks about attention in marketing, that whole process jumping to did you have any idea that the pantyhose commercial was going to be that big reader, what the this is the guy over here that handled that situation. That's the well, should I would tell me about that. We were together and tells collusive, Alabama New Jersey guy, Hungarian Irish. Here's Gary in Pennsylvania. And you know, we're in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, that's where friendship started when Jimmy came to New York and passed the bar exam up here. Isn't that Turney? We started working together and Jimmy causes Joe. I have an interesting proposal here. I've got a story, real quick, and I apologize show you at that point where you getting tons of different things, and you were betting them and this one just caught your eye. Did did they when they pitched it to, you say look Joe's legs are? Like, like, was it very easy to see the cleverness of it or did that develop later as an idea for food of limousine university of Al? Yes us yet. Her. She hadn't come in the office. Talk me about. Yes. Taught me that thinker. Basically that point I, I asked her, I said, well, what do you think about this idea? She said she's my father's. Devastated. Johnny with the work. Yeah. I mean Joe like like honestly like Joe wearing panty. What year was it seventy? What do you remember somebody? Five. Okay like that is a risky move..

"What, what are the what are the biggest things that you think about? Like did you did that game stick with you? Because obviously, I mean some of this stuff I might get wrong because obviously I wasn't around. But the next season you got hurt. Right. Because the next season was a four and eleven season. Right. And it was like how much I don't I don't know you well enough to know. You know, is it stuff? You think about is not. But that season for some reason, I don't know why it sticks. Obviously everybody talks about the prior season. But there's an Len Dawson. You know what kind of player was Len Dawson, let me with man. I mean he was sweet. He was mood. I'd try to run like Lenny. These jarring on and off the field. You know. His mannerisms as coolness. He was a real gentleman. And he was brilliant as a player. But that game that season like this did that hurt for a long time. Or were you got so much going on in your life? At that point, obviously the prior season puts you on a pedestal in this city, the biggest city in the world. Are you the kind of guy that after that game you're devastated for twenty four hours, you think about it for a month, or you go down to Miami and have fun? Like, what kind of guy were you like, I'm very curious what happens after that level of adversity? I assume we're at home, you're pretty. The raiders were really team that you're too, so you have to face those guys again if you win. But like you upset were you kind of like you understood that they outplayed you like how did your psych I'm I'm trying to get into the mindset of your walking off the field. And then what happens the next thirty days share with you? My head coach told my freshman class of football players at the university of Alabama the first time we met our. And coach and had a meeting with him coach Paul bear Bryant. He stood up in front of us, and he said, I'm going to teach y'all how to keep from beaten yourselves. Now I came from a man, I it's tough for me to understand him. And we wanna championship back there and beaver falls and that sounded to me like what playing conservative or playing scared, I'm gonna teach y'all how to keep from beating your cells. And then he said you're going to remember the losses. The mistakes the game you didn't play well in more than you're going to remember to good games even the big game June one till this day you bring up the Kansas City Chiefs game in nineteen sixty nine parameters you. That's one of the ones we're talking about. Komo's thank coach Bryant losing the Texas by senior year, any Orange Bowl that jumps up at me losing once today. That team from across the Bama state abor, not all for most folks, but even lose to them that, that gets me right here to this day. Sure we won the championship man. And I met you high-school college. The goal for every player should be to make the team owned up. You got to be good enough to get on any team. Whether it's literally baseball junior, high basketball, you got to make the team and the next goal should be to win the championships. Right. And we did it on those levels, and I'm thrilled about that. But I think it a games I played like a bum. I do you think you played like a bum in that game in which game the Kansas City Chiefs game picks in that? Oh, well, you know. Real football fans know some of those are on the quarterback in some of our not an summer on a good defensive play. Can make it all that stuff..
