"Year of the rocket move Football show every morning here on 700. Nobody before we talk about the season and the team in the 2020 campaign Joe Burrows rookie season all of that later this week. Let's talk about the last eight months above and beyond all the covert concerns that every team is having to deal with. I think the word that describes the last eight months would be serene. Yes, they've they've added to the defense they have over all the back seven. They spent a lot of money. But folks were concerned about Joe Burrow not being a bangle. He's a Bengal folks were concerned about franchise tagging a J green. They got that done. Everybody seems to be happy, at least for now, with how that concluded Joe mix and got a contract extension, which sort of meant we didn't have to deal with any lingering issues about his unhappiness or Maybe later this season deciding to not play. I think there's such the stage for now, a season that we could judge Zac Taylor by the results on the field. We'll talk about that a little bit later this week, and it's a pretty good landing spot when you're introducing a rookie quarterback to the NFL. There was no question No this season above all the others have had to deal with so much more distant another football, one roster and business decisions I have to make so Did you point? The fact that the Bangles didn't have to feel the bones of other things that really, really well for new contract disputes there, arguing amongst players? No, no, nothing like that. So, especially with Zach Taylor being come into a second year now starting off, it really does feel like a new regime writing. We draft your brother that was kind of The signature thing that happened with that. But along with starting a new regime, nothing you wanted a bunch of other headaches in the season. Where this close again I haven't been with so many other things. So if that those will I think the excitement level from a man's standpoint is that it's been a long, long time. The only thing to do is win some football games and develop your quarterback and let's hope that happens. With all the talk of apathy and fans bailing and not paying attention late last season. What they've done this off season and look Joe Burrow is the headline but I think the last eight months have have atleast Recreated some degree of interest that wasn't there for a lot of people before the season ended last year. There's no question the biggest thing was done with that was spending the money, not nothing. Sometimes. Finally, especially recently. The fan base like screaming just never spends any money there keep and all that sort of thing in their way they perform can cannot be uttered this year when you spend $160 million Empire defense you, You know, you go to a defense that looks like it really has the ability to stop the run. So that was the first and foremost thing I was done. You spend the money and then you go get the quarterback with the first overall pick. So I think from the beginning for a fan standpoint, not much more. You could ask from the organization. At this point. Now it's going to come down to mow. The big questions can be young and unproven. Coach like Zach Taylor developed these players right into some big name down, guys paid the money. Now we got a development and that's the biggest part of coaches of a coach's job. We'll see if it could happen this year. Yeah, no, it's it's going to be a lot of fun to watch this season unfold Bangles and Chargers from Paul Brown Stadium for 05 on Sunday. "All right, It is time for the training camp report with our man, Tony Pike. And now, Tony, the Bengals had a scrimmage. Yesterday. Give me the good the bad and the ugly from the Bengal scrimmage on Sunday, But let's start with the not to go totally bad. It just wasn't as sharp from Joe borrow as we saw him in the previous scrimmage. Missem throws the receiving corps had some drops. Took a sack in the red Zone, which is something that you don't want to see from your quarterback. But all in all, it's weird, because even when he struggles, I walk away more impressed because how he handles Some of those struggles. He always seems to be able to bounce back. The ugly for me is very simple. A J. Green did not scrimmage. Joe Mixon, not scrimmage. Um, going forward. Look, a J. Green was vocal that he wanted And it was important for him to get out there in a scrimmage, setting to get some reps. He didn't do it Sunday. The scrimmage that was supposed to be Thursday is now going to be more of a mock game. So A J. Green first real action since November, 2018 seems they're going to be against the Chargers and In a day where we see Alvin Kamara, Miss. Um Haven't seen Joe Mix all week. He was at scrimmage. You didn't participate. Just wonderful to Joe Mixon contract situation is going to look like and for the good of the defense defense. One discrimination, but I'm really happy with the linebacking corps right now, Rock We haven't seen live tackling and we won't until the first game. But just physically, there's so much more athletic when you watch him, especially side to side. I'm expecting big things from that line back in Munich, right when I was in there, asking about Logan Wilson, the third round pick this year for the Bangles. What have you seen from him? I haven't seen a ton. But I mean linebacker is always tough. First of all, you're not. You're not tackling in practice. It was hard to stand out as linebacker. Sometimes when you're not tackling, but But what have you seen from him? I kind of got a bunch of men in the whole line back in unit as one Logan Wilson shows the times that he can cover in space when they do drills where you've got a tag off in a one on one situation with running back. I think he's looked great. Take the athleticism shows what he can do, but rock. I mean, this is some job arrow pointed out last night, he said. I want Zack Taylor and I want to be hit. I want what I want to see what that feels like. We can't get a feel of our running game because there's no live tackling. So everything gets blown bed. It's a big ask in the NFL. Now, when you've got three rookies that were driving one of those being Logan Wilson that will not tackle at the NFL level until they're trying to talk tackle off Meckler in space. I just I don't know how it works out for that line back immunity for the defense of the whole. Yeah, I'm with you, I think Look, even even as AH, doing radio, right, you take a couple of days off. It's kind of weird right to get back into it. It's a repetition thing. And while you're playing football playing wide receiver, whatever I agree with you quickly, Tony When it comes to Joe Mixon, do we think it's contract related? Or is it migraines? Man. It's It's hard because you can't come out and say guys lying about migraines. So you have to take him for what his word is. The only difference is we saw him last Monday on the practice field. And we saw on Sunday night. Talking to Zach Taylor talking agent Green, but we didn't see him at all in between on the practice field, so When you're not out there with your team, and there's this contract negotiation looming, you can't help but wonder if it's somehow poor related. Uhm it again. It's it's hard because I think for a lot of reasons you're comparing him to what? What does Alvin Kamara get? What does Dalvin cook it in the market based on what Joe Mixon has done, So if you're Joe Mixon and the league Has made it pretty tough on you to hold out anymore. I mean, we saw it a little bit last. 40 Glenn Concussion Situation Drug on Put it drag on for Joe mix until he finds that contract situation that's kind of what I'm going to wait and see this week with what happens with this thing. Yeah, I hope that's not the case. I hope he gets out there and plays If you play hard, and you show your durable and you have success that the money will follow. I know you grew without to listen, man. Thanks so much. We'll talk soon. Patriots deny stealing signs, say filming was for documentary series
"The patriots releasing a statement saying they said the production team to film a behind the scenes feature on the patriot scouting staff for a web series called do your job so the irony there there it is ironical so the set the scene for you the bangles in the Browns are paying on playing on Sunday the patriots who are playing the bangles this week send a film crew to Cleveland as part of a quote documentary series do your job about how you scout other teens the NFL is now in possession of what they say is eight minutes of footage that this film crew got focused entirely on the bangles sideline where the there were apparently cameras there K. V. patriot camera guys they captured their play calls their hand signals and substitution two things on all of this one I kind of thing that that stuff happens all the time maybe that's the bangles that's like even a bigger story believe me I know I have Joe mix and my pain is healing arable for god sakes but it is listed if this is true if they basically instructed in some way shape or form this documentary crew to go into because they they said they were they were given credentials shore by the Cleveland Browns because they're playing in Cleveland they were allowed to be there but that there was some understanding that they weren't literally going to be there like spying looking over the shoulders of the coach okay so so it's one of two things it's either yeah they were directed to do this or no they were actually there filming and just happen to get a bunch of stuff and yeah I it's probably the first thing I just either it it that is the patriots I mean it's part of their deal right so I think part of the DNA of a lot of other a winning sports team so the patriots have won super bowls and there's argument they cheated along the way to do that again patriots fans are very heads are exploding right now as we say this I'm again I'm somewhere in the middle I'm but the Astros the Houston Astros there ARE baseball team I believe arm they won the World Series end eight zero no okay yes they did it wasn't this sure I thought they know who won the national philosophy maps excuse me they were in the world they won in two thousand seventeen a former player who left to go play for open has said I'm the Astros were stealing signs and had a whole system are set up to alert batters of what the next pitch was how they do that so apparently they were they were using like cameras there is it was all done electronically right and then they had a trash can think of a metal trash can okay okay and you would be paying all the trash can once they solve the the sign what the picture is going to be and however many on the trash cans let the batter know what pitch was coming it like you know somebody in the dugout in a trash can you guys not you know again we're hearing we're just bang bang bang bang bang bang that's ridiculous like nobody picked up on like somebody but alone until a former player knocked him out and said back to my

"You apply the bad roster bat offensive line, not winning a lot of games. So it didn't get to run the clock out a lot of the time. He's not saquon by any means, but he's in a similar situation with the team. Yeah. While Andy Dalton was there up through week twelve Joe mixing was the running back twelve. So he was he was running back one. And I think their offense gets better this year. I think they needed to get rid of Marv. And yeah, what we saw in college. Come. Into last season his rookie year. There was so much hype around Joe mix talent, and you just didn't see it last year. You really didn't. And you know this year. It was like, okay. He is who everybody thought he was. And I think he's going to be a really safe picnics here why he averaged the third most rushing yards per game of any running back eighty three point four yards per game. I think that he this is kind of where probably where he belongs next year probably in that eight nine range, right? And where you're drowning. The interesting thing will be Giovanni Bernard. The team can move on from him for very minimal hit against their cap. Oh, that's pretty cool. Mark wallenburg. This me if if deal's gone, I could step up, it's very possible. But what I was also going to say is he's not super expensive about four and a half million dollars or three point seven five. I should see. I think I think you want GIO to stay. If I were a fantasy owner, okay? Makes an I want geo Bernard to stay one hundred percent. Do you ever notice rushing attempts? Very very very very low this year. He had two games or mixing missed and he was fifteen and twelve but in the games you played two two one five whatever yourself. So you're looking like receptions and the first four games to a game. But he had a six he had a one he had a four that would be the area that you would say maybe mixing benefit from somebody. That's you know, Mark Walton? Yeah. Hey, yeah. That's what I think. So I guess either way mixes the workhorse right with a new coaching staff in place there. That's where I'd rather GOP gone because when they get into training camp, and they go, hey, Geos, actually a really good player because he is. Is they might want to use him more. If it's just Mark Wallenburg and another rookie that they pick up then that's going to be far more difficult. I don't know. If I grew that. But oh, that's good. All the guy did was named Mark Walden this pork. Or what have you poor guy? This. He wouldn't even be talked about on this show. But he's not we call him a name that is not his name forgotten. His name is Mark that you were. So casual Romberg was going Mark Wallenburg guy. He should be happy. Yeah. He might have a shirt, man. His name's on a shirt right now. Right. But it's not as they this is true. That's the point gets. It gets sparingly a nickname. It's your name fused with another. That sounds like something that might right? And Berg would say, yes, we're gonna how dare you. How dare you? Yeah. David Johnson number ten. I'm game soundboard of Brooks put it on. Did you want bad joke? Oh, I wanted a bat. Something you needed punt things. Oh, sorry. David johnson. He finished in the top ten. Does. He deserve a little praise. Little melodic parades. No, no. All right. No number eleven on consistency. Here was the kicker with David Johnson. Only six percent, aka one of his games in the great category. Only one big time week that was week ten thirty three point eight points. He only busted six percent of the time. So he had a one bus game one gray game and everything else was summer between mediocre and good. We need to go all the way down to running back nineteen on the season to find someone with only a six percent great game finish yet. And that's why people feel like he was a bust. Because they never was the. Yeah. He I mean, even though the position as the number ten running back the way he was utilized was just trash. Yes. Never having any kind of great games. Never winning you any weeks and you drafted a guy to be..

"One. Up. Chris Carson, Joe mixing juju Smith Schuster Steeler when you're name's juju. And you're nominated for anything I vote for you fact, when you became the offensive MVP has 'Antonio Brown. And he's so salty about literally throws his ball. And goes and goes home, take my ball. That's basically what it was. Unbelievable. So I've got to go with juju. He's been fantastic. He's been he's out played a be this year. If you really look at it. I the only reason I went to see Blake breakout players because we saw a lot of great stuff from juju last year. Chris Carson, and what that ground game of Donen Seattle. We mentioned Pete Carroll being the snub just in general Brian Schottenheimer that offense Mike salary the offensive line coach what they've put together around that unit net. Run games been great one more award comeback player of the year. JJ watt Asia in Peterson. Andrew love football. If you guys don't agree with me on this. We're all gonna fight during the commercial because it's Andrew luck. And it's not like it should just be your luck. Nobody else if the Washington Redskins would have finished ten and six made the playoffs. I think you're really make an argument for Adrian Peterson at his age. But Andrew luck is at a man. He's guys the king goofball. He's a really good football. He probably should have been in the MVP conversation more than he was. But he was such an easy right in for comeback player of the year. But I have been wrong or about few things in my life. That I was about Adrian Peterson crack a thousand yards as a running back his age with the injury history. It's unreal. Those are are awards coming up. There are seven NFL head coaching openings, and if I wasn't looking at him right now, I wouldn't be so sure our next guest was going to show up on him.
Frank Gore Won't Return vs. Vikings with Foot Injury, Reportedly Has Sprain
"Next thing, you know, it's fourth and thirty for Indianapolis. It's fun to sort of observe all the games taking place at one time. I Lamar Jackson throw to somebody attempt to throw titan Mark Andrews, hit a defender in the back hawk the mar a thrower is still a work in progress. Yes, worker progress is putting it lightly. I mean, he just has to, you know, a lot of time with quarterbacks no matter how good or or, you know, whatever the scouting report says about you. We can't see you at your best until you're comfortable. And when I watch him throw the football when I watch him try to dissect defenses. I don't see a guy who feels comfortable yet. Which is why I think you've. Verse two running a lot because that's the thing that makes them feel the most confident so he asked to become comfortable as a passer, and then we can kind of make the determination of whether or not he has the ability of the thrower right on cue. I see him rush for about eight yards for the Baltimore Ravens him or Josh Allen. Who's been the more impressive runner to you. Because Allen's doing it on non design runs. Lamar. The design stuff. Yeah. I mean, I think they're both impressive. I think Josh Allen is just the one that surprises me more. I didn't expect him to be able to Russia the level. He is because he didn't Lamar Jackson had incredible Russian production. Yeah. We knew it. But not nearly what Lamar Jackson exactly we've got an update here. Coming up. We have an update from the Bengals do we have this. We have the update yet. I'll take it myself Joe mixing the Cincinnati bangles on fourth down plunges into the end zone. Hawk fourteen. Nothing to fight Marvin Lewis. Now that they're getting after man didn't after China China. Make a case here. Trying to make the case are the Bengals for I don't know maybe saving Marvin job like that. To write technically. But it doesn't look good five eight they are technically in hunt. But it's gonna take a lot of work. I guess like are they playing are. They playing to save Marvin job right now is that is that your interpretation of what's left in this season. It's a very good question. I'll have to take the break to to figure out. Okay. Good enough wants to talk about that later on throughout the show. We continue to see if they can lay it on the Oakland, Raiders, the raiders who've been frisky recently, not so frisky today. The Bengals are like you don't come to our house tried to play our game and win. Instead, you might lose her down fourteen to nothing. We have a ton of actual again nine early games in the NFL not necessarily a ton of marquee matches put me and hawk. We make a marquee for you and coming up next. We'll tell you can the Vikings continue to have the good offense times rolled. That's next operation of upon ESPN radio the ESPN app.
Cleveland PD Launching Internal Investigation into Handling of Kareem Hunt Case
"But I just feel like it's so shady, it's so shady how TMZ can get this whole thing. The NFL can't the chiefs can't but TMZ pays up. It's. I wanna know. Like on to keep it quiet at the beginning did Kareem hunt half to pay right? And then from there. Did you know TMZ just triple what he paid the Cleveland police? I I wanna know how deep this goes to me. It's a little fishy. Ira fishing, and Amy Trask was on with with fits of Brooks today. And I it's part of what I've been saying on this whole time is do you do you hire? But she said it's kind of hard. Dot com on the podcast, great stuff. But she she was saying to you hire TMZ. Do you hire some type of thing like that? In have resources to go and pay for those. Videos for your investigations, I but see that's the thing is man you want to know. So many things because look you're investigating. You're you're paying up, and I feel like TMZ would end up, you know, almost like extortion. Yes. Yeah. Eight they know exactly how much the NFL's worth information is a commodity for any in especially valuable information. And at the end of the day, what the NFL needs to know is what really happened. And however, look the NFL their financial resources pretty limitless. There is some limit. But to obtain a copy of a video, look, I think they can probably find, you know, between the owners, and whoever the hell is going to be in charge of of facilitating that I think that they can come up with a number of the the bottom line is they need to know what happened in the fact that there was a video of this incident and never mind. How dumb Kareem hunt was for doing something like that knowing that it was all being recorded. But that aside knowing that there is a video available since February and Kareem hunt. Hunt felt empowered enough embolden enough to light his team. He had to have known that. They were having a hard time getting the video or didn't have access to it. I mean, they didn't see the video because if you see the video, you know, right away away like kicked out. I wonder as guard went down a little bit each week. Yeah. Good. Yeah. I'm good. Hanging over his head. Could you imagine knowing that your career your NFL career is just hanging in the balance and the day that the other shoe drops, you're toast? And I mean, it's bad enough that this happened know in any way, shape or form the fact that it happened just a couple of days after Ruben foster that to me is kind of fishy to now all the sudden and we're getting near playoff time in the chiefs are potentially in a position to win the Super Bowl. There was a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes man, this thing just stinks all high. Hell no, it just sucks, and, you know, starting with the domestic violence to the cover up to the, you know, the distribution of the video to the new police cars at the Cleveland police officers are driving and all that stuff. It's it's it's all shady shady. So following an internal review. It was determined that in February a member of the Cleveland division of police provided a report you'll appreciate you trying to do some serious here. You don't mind felt house? Doing it for felony baby. All right now. So I'll start over following an internal review is determined that in February a member of the Cleveland police provided a copy of that police report, including the assault incident at the nine which was the hotel to the National Football League. And of course, they didn't go through the official publics public records request process. Now, if you go through that process, officially then it's known that the NFL is petitioning to get that information. Because I I gotta think look the police reports one thing like if you know, there's video of it. I don't need the police report. And that's the other thing that just begs the question. Okay. There's this video like, yeah. The charges were dropped. Why why were the charges dropped? They don't do anything for misdemeanor. It wasn't. It was not a felon. It was not charges a felony. You should have been. No, okay. Yeah. No. I mean any of that stuff? Should right? No doubt. Whether or not whatever it should be a felony. But it was filed under as a misdemeanor, which they don't do stuff you're going, wait what? Yeah. That's just shadiest number one. The fact that I don't care how hard he kicked. Her didn't kick her. You know what I mean? Like that was a felony the moment that right? She's dazed. She's she's laying on the ground days has has just gotten to the point where she sitting up. She's not even standing it. And he tried to kick her in the face. I mean, whether you connected or not I mean, thank God. He didn't he barely grazed or but not the point. You know, in the fact that she was on the ground is because you knock that dude indoor. And I know that I, you know, I don't know that he did that on purpose. But I guarantee you he didn't care if she got knocked down. Clearly, he was intent on doing her harm, hence the shove and then later kicking her. So let me ask you this this Kareem hunt play in the NFL again. Yes. Yeah. I think so too. I think he's young enough. Yeah. That's why Ray rice didn't play again because he was done. He was already at the end of his career. Well, yeah. And hit what he did on video, right? I feel like a complete ass for even having compare that. You're right though. It's true world. We all we all think the same. But it wasn't as bad. It wasn't even though it is it wasn't what the wasn't as graphic as the one punch layout. Right. And even if you go on the Joe mixing stuff, right? And the other part of it too. Is that was his significant other now again, there's no excuse for this but Kareem hunt, and this gal they weren't like romantically involved. Okay there. There was a disagreement. You know, apparently tossed around my point is the Ray rice stuff. It's almost even more shocking because this is supposed to be somebody that you love and care about still married, right? That's what I'm saying. You're in a partnership to protect the whereas opposed to somebody just being a complete stranger that you had a disagreement with what you can. I think I think there's got to be a lot of answers. A lot of questions answered by Kareem hunt and not verbally by actions right in how. Have you address certain things? How have you gone about counseling? How you know if he's out all next year, then good for him. Yeah. Because then it maybe his message is being passed. You know, you know from from team to team. I just see. He's too young and talented and we've discussed talent over all this crap. Sure. I think it's going to end up being that he's gonna play and the other part of it too is I thought that the Lisa Saulters sit down that was way too soon for me. It was like it was just so, but it's so soon it's so perfect for Lisa Saulters to get it all, of course. But even though they made they went out of their way to say, you heard her in the interview say you requested this interview. So that was Kareem hunt reaching out to them saying how I wanna get a message out. And I felt like it was total damage control one. Oh one. He's just trying to me. Then who was it? Right. Yeah. That's see. That's the thing. Like, no. It's not you. It was you you can say that was out of character for me. That's not a representation of who. I am. But no, my man, there's a connect there because that was you, and that's why you're not employed by the Kansas City Chiefs anymore, and that but see that's the one thing that I feel very comfortable saying that is you that is your character. Under percent, you do that. That's your character. That is that is a part of it from the beginning. You have that in you there? Literally do not have that in me. I know that you're right me. Neither thankfully, but you're right. There's only there's there's the kind of people that will in the kind of people that won't. And so to say that that's not you now my man that is you and I just felt like right now. This was the time for Kareem hunt. Make your statement. Hey, the chiefs were right to do what they did. I was in the wrong. Okay. Cool like and then say, hey, I'm gonna make this right? I know it's going to take a long time. But I will make this right? I'm going to make some changes. If that's what we heard from Kareem hunt. And then we didn't hear from again for six months. I'm cool like, and then don't tell me show me show me the changes that you've made. Hey, I went to counseling I'm volunteering at a shelter. Whatever it is I'm a battered women's shelter. Whatever it is to show us. You understand the severity of it. And it's not all poor me. I lost my job in the NFL. It's poor victim of my heinous assault. And the fact that I don't have a job in the NFL is the right thing because I was way out of line. I felt like he was trying to do some like PR. Reparation campaign, and I just felt like it was so ill time. And when she asked him directly about what happened. He just basically iterative that he didn't matter. What happened? And it's like, no, dude. It absolutely matters. What happened? That's why we're all year right now. Ready for our society right now, they don't even six five. Oh, let's talk about Steph night. Not women beaters fellas. All right. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Like that that right there alone. I it just says we're uncomfortable talking about it. But it needs to be talked about an address. Yeah. And to me the moment, you ignore it. There's so many things that you know, how can how can the NFL do better and get the message across in. And and try to help out. Why think it it obviously starts younger? And if I'm NFL, I'm

"Player at a high level. The toughest thing Bengals at this point to stop. It's not likely commerce outside because of Jackson. Albacore the saints running back out of the backfield because you're not going to have perfect odyssey. Nick vigil, still out the linebacking corps percents. Just isn't good right now. And that's be the toughest thing about out of the ball. Because make no mistake through freeze its going to understand that. But I looked offer. Look, obviously, not having any Jake green. Tyler has had a great season you the number one receiver, and you got get look for a guy like John Ross reported now for two years. Breakout game being number nine picks. He's got have five seven catches in the same chance. Your your main guy your workforce Joe mixing between runs and passes. I think he needs to try to. To have a chance just for ball control result. What happened against Kansas City? We got there by double scores. We started trying to throw the ball. You're back to the saints that way, you gotta be able to continue to work the ball. Joe mixture thirty touches in this game clock. That's a rest as well. You know, this defense that that the saints bring in is not a great defense. There are a lot of teams that are thrown on them. But they do have the number one rushing defense that could be because other teams have a lot of success throwing against we'll find out quickly. I think if AJ green was healthy for this game. I think it might be a different deal for the Bengals. I I look at Tyler Boyd. And I I'm with you. He's had a great season. But who else? I wass. You probably watch that Steelers game last night. I'm watching the Steelers last night. And I see the Steelers doing things with Switzer. They're ready little wide receiver. They're doing things with him that they ought to be doing with John Ross here that touchdown throw. The Steelers had when they were here two three weeks ago to Antonio Brown. That's the kind of stuff that ought to be going on with John Ross, and it's not for lack of coaching. I probably not for lack of trying is a for lack of Tanna with this, dude. Some you just have to wonder the psyche of John Rawson, and if he can get over the hump because everyone talks about his speed, and yes, he's the he's the fastest guy. That's all well and good. But you're lining up against guys that are maybe. Word of mouth proper slower than you on the forty yard dash pick that up on a football field. Which is a building cutting. Upset for weeks. Now, it would be good just to see John Ross chance only the game to get easy touches everything. He's done this year. And even the touches last year he had to work so hard for there has to be ways. Like, you said was Switzer told you get a quick screening or just a quick hitch. Let him try to get comfortable early in the game. Because I think where it come with with John Rosser just conflict there because they're has a very success really at the NFL level you get him involved. And this is any receiver in the game of football college..

"He he makes them better. And they're the best team in the AFC north right Right now, now. they were always the best team. They have seen north command. All right to the running back the rest of the group after James Connor Todd Gurley Marlin MAC Joe mixing and Adrian Peterson. Conor girly MAC mixing Peterson Adrian Peterson is what to you guys right now. Awesome. Neha? I got to consider another so high candidate. But I mean, how many times it goes? Yeah. All right. Top five wide receivers tie at the top in non PBR, Mike Evans, and Marvin Jones Jones had one more catch. So he is your number one receiver actually tied with Sammy Watkins at number one in PR. So it's Evans Marvin Jones Sammy Watkins the Andre Hopkins and then tied for fifth Antonio Brown and tie their Boyd as a as a James owner. I hope he gets back as an Evans owner. I hope it's Fitzpatrick it's Patrick wreaking loves Mike Evans. How many how many leagues do you own Winson? Two and do you have another quarterback or well one of two quarterback leagues? So that Prescott Batra dropped. Yeah. But now I'm going to have to fab it. Everybody's going to be all over him, obviously. But you have the chances getting back. Yeah. Well, it's far as. I don't know. I mean, I don't know. What say these guys Evans is a must start hopkins's. It must start Brown's must start right now. The boys it's Tyler must start. He someone you'd be looking to sell. No, he's the most of these muster. Okay. Everytime. We say must start a different word to say just think of Moster. Must play. He's the most clay. Yeah. Now being of Bill must grave. All right to the tight ends top-five. Jordan Thomas who caught two touchdowns on Thursday. Yeah. I really feel like I dropped the ball. And did not ask enough about Jack Doyle as someone to add this week. And I apologize to our listeners. That is totally my fault. Jack Doyle Travis Kelsey and Jared cook all head seventy to seventy nine yards at a touchdown there. All right around second or third in points. This week at tight end. Yes. So this is a great opportunity to pick up tight end. He's like thirty five percent owned, Jack. Doyle, what do you think about him? An e bronze scored as well in this game. I mean, the colts offense is humming. Geez. Three tight end scored for them in this game. Mo catch Wilcox was amazing. William O pain. Yeah. Alley. Cox twenty six yard touchdown catch. What do you know about mo- Elliott hawks? Adam give us like a breakdown. I I can you went to Virginia Commonwealth. Thank you. Which rather have Iran recipes? Silly bron. But it's I think both ended up being startled member. You look at what Frank Reich offense. The at least was the coordinator of you know, they they use the tight ends a lot in not necessarily both were great fancy options. But you go back to the last year that Andrew luck was one hundred percent healthy evenly played twenty sixteen. He played hurt. But twenty fourteen was the number one fantasy quarterback Kobe cleaner Dwayne Allen they combined for fourteen touchdowns. Yeah. And I've been thinking about my all the sell high on. Eric Brown that I've been saying I I feel like I'm gonna be wrong. I feel like the yards are definitely gonna be down. And they have been. But that's what luck. Does he throws touchdowns his tight ends? And he's still going to be a guy you can start. Is there a big winner at tight end for you this week. I mean Ingram had the garbage time. Touchdown. Greg Olsen had a very nice game. Is there any jumped out it was the oil? It's Chris Herndon because you saw the last two weeks Michael Roberts and Thomas four touchdowns combined. The two of them against Miami. And heard now scored three games in a row, and he gets Miami this week. He only had one catch. It was a touchdown. And without rob interesting teams on a by one of them is accurate. United better game than him safety valve..

"Sports headlines. Just in Joe mixing of the Bengals who went in and out of last night's Cincinnati win over Baltimore is looking at arthroscopic knee surgery. If you watch the game closely assaults him kind of struggle at times, and it could be a two week injury. So no necessary urgent need to address your lineups. Because the game is over you already have your week to Joe mixon. But you probably won't have them again until week five, right? Other injury notes around the league, we'll get to the bills in the charges here in a moment. Aaron Rodgers is questionable. Officially is a knee injuries not practice yet this week. Devante Freeman of the falcons has been ruled out. He also has a knee injury. They're playing the Panthers. Tevin coleman. We'll start in his place. Steelers quarterback. Ben Roethlisberger returned to practice today. He sat out Wednesday and Thursday with an elbow injury onto the bills shack Lawson in Tehran Johnson are both ruled out of Sunday's game. With the chargers Ray, Ray McLeod is listed as questionable with a knee injury for the chargers, the big one. And this isn't a surprise was tracking this way since last week even defensive end Joey Bosa is out with a foot injury receiver. Travis Benjamin is listed as questionable also with a foot injury. Henrik Zetterberg is done how long before Ottawa traits for him to help them get to the floor. Once they moved their other guys. Henrik Zetterberg by wife's favorite NHL player fifteen year career great career, but he has a back injury. So he's out Born October ninth bulldog. That's why one reason why he's your favorites or birthday. And so the Red Wings have that issue. Now, he's he's gone. He was excellent. Even in his later years. Yup. The sabres had training camp today. Their first practice what stands out to you anything about like what they did today. The lines or anything? No, I think without Reinhard here. It's hard to really draw any conclusions about what they're going to be doing. It might be interesting that delaying the defenses healthy in Dalian was paired with McCabe. So that that might be something that they was watching that means that will change ever. That's right. Wherever you start training camp. There's a rule they have to play together. Now. So you sessions tomorrow that's notable. I I like McCabe. He's great player. He's he's a good all around player, and like whoever is going to play with Dow lean might be shaped to have their career kind of take off. Look pretty nice. So he's got first crack at it. Anyway in training camp..

"Got a ton of work was affected with that work us to on in both running and passing. So, yeah, I mean, I think he is a, I think, at the moment, Joe mixon's and Rb one and he there was a lot of questions coming into the season. Some people were like, I'm all in on Joe mix and having a big bounce back year this year and there are others like, I don't know. He's really inefficient last year. I'm not seeing it. I'm not a believer in this rebuilt. Hinson any Bengals line for week after the first week. Those who believe in Joe mixing are feeling pretty good. I tend to believe more Joe mix and then not tell her I froze on a pitch count. Yesterday's defined by the Bengals admission and he was on exactly that it's not the Browns pitch count of Josh. They actually, they actually carried it out. And I thought this is a good plan for him because he needs to be on the field to be effective, but three. Three. I mean, he's reliable. He's reliable for his quarterback when he's on the field, if he can stay healthy, hopefully better. Thanks to come good news for John Ross. He caught a pass. It was only passively coddle day, but it went for three yards and a touchdown. It was great to see Andrew lucked back on the fields to find you just because I think there are still going to be people that until yesterday are wondering like anything that call your I from a medical perspective that needs to be addressed that they Andrew luck. Yeah, here's one. You need to learn how to slide feet first coin. You don't take these hits to the head. This was a concern for him. I don't know if you guys remember, but when my concern for Andrew coming into a couple of seasons ago before his miss season was if he would be able to say healthy, it had a concussion the year prior. And there was a real issue. They were concerned about him taking to many hits when he carried the ball, they wanted him to either get out of bounds. They brought in. I think it was Joe Girardi teach him how to. Sliding on him and it still hasn't taken over that remains a liability for him. As far as the shoulder goes happy with that, you're still not seeing on the deep balls, but that's not necessarily what he needs to do. I think he's doing what they're comfortable with was back on the field. He was excited to be there all the positive things for Andrew luck. I think this helps shake the rust off. Good that from Andrew luck in Matthew also good to see that a second wide receiver may have emerged in Indianapolis because Ryan granted eight catches for fifty nine yards. Andrew luck through fifty three times yesterday. And we joke before the podcast. He might not for two three times every game. You're like, oh, he might fair because they're going to struggle on defense. They're gonna throw it in a Tom this year is one of the reasons we talked about this a lot of the preseason. And you know me, I like Ryan grant former Redskin completely got screwed over by the ravens. Just an awful situation there, but has found a home in Indianapolis. And we talked about the fact that outside of t. y. Hilton, they're really there was a wide open role there with Dante Moncrieff now in Jacksonville to be the number two. Pass catcher of the Indianapolis Colts as a team that is not going to be able to run the ball effectively is not as a team that is not going to play defense effectively. So what does that mean? They're going to have to throw. I mean, this is the game that the colts lead for a good chunk of the day. They keep that in mind. They were up twenty three ten at one point they lead for a good chunk and he still had to throw fifty three times and ultimately, obviously Cincinnati won this game. Honestly, I, I don't think this is an accident eight from fifty nine. The nine targets. I think you'll see that Ryan grant I assume will be featured prominently in your waiver. Are column coming up tomorrow on ESPN? Yes, he will. Matthew bear the backfield by the way in Indianapolis will be mentioned on that wave or call him to Jordan Wilkins as fourteen carries for forty yards. Meanwhile, ni- hime Heinz had seven catches for thirty three yard. Matthew view. You had to choose wine and don't forget Marlin max probably back next week..
Fantasy football: Tyrod Taylor Will Deliver
"To tyrod Taylor had him as a top twelve guy going into the week. We've talked about him in the preseason. That is what he is. Rushing always keeps his floor high. I don't think this was an accident. I do think better days are ahead for tyrod as a passer, again, bad weather and getting more into the game flow first game of the season. Yeah, but Tyron tyrod is going to be a top twelve fantasy quarterback as long as he has this job. And I think he's going to have the job for quite some time because I think as long as they're competitive and they certainly were yesterday, look, they didn't win that game, obviously correct. But they lose it either. Well, correct. And I don't think that was on tyrod. I mean, look, I some listen, one hundred percent. There was had Josh Gordon deep and he could. He could have Josh Gordon how to stop Stepney under through it. It was a bad pick. There's no question. There was some mistakes, but listen block a guy. You had a chance to win with a field goal block guys, special teams field. A lot of things went wrong for the Browns yesterday to one. Fate became clear, Carlos Hyde is a primary in the backfield he is. And I, I was interested in like many of the backfield's we were watching stray. How is the distribution gonna shake out and the thing that got my attention was the limitations for Duke Johnson. I just thought that for me, do Johnson really not playing a factor at all in the in the past catching game, hurt what he was able to do for you? Fantasy wise Carlos Hyde was the preferred riot.

"It turns out that the girl who's house it was was standing next to me and she grabbed the eggs out on my hand and started firing eggs in my dad's car, which I'm like, whoa, wait a minute. This isn't even by cards, but I'm sixteen, this is my dad's car. So the night was then spent. This is a cold January night in Chicago at a do it yourself. Carwash freezing cold trying to wash egg off my dad's car, so I don't get in trouble man and I don't know what happened to her with her house, getting egged by me. But back there that was fun trip down memory lane. I, let's talk about our half PR three wide receiver draft, and I wanna go through our first five picks and talk about what our philosophy was. I'm gonna say, the dreaded word for heath what our strategy was, how we constructed the core of our teams. This is twelve. Teams happy are and three receivers plus a flex. And now since not, everybody plays in three receiver leagues. I want us to talk about not only what we did in the strap, maybe how it would have changed if this were say to receiver league with a flex, but three receivers and Affleck's. Obviously, two running backs, obviously puts a little bit of a premium on wide receiver of not sure we see that in the early rounds, maybe more in the mid to late rounds there. So let's start with Jamie since you had the second pick and Chris towers actually took Zeki Elliott with the first pick. So Jamie that left you with what I'm guessing, an easy call to take time early. Yep. All right. So after that you have to wait until the end of round two and way long way to rounds two and three with girly on your squad. What did you do and why did you do it. I took Travis Kelsey at the end of round two. I was gonna see what Chris was going to do in relation to Doug Baldwin Stefan digs and Joe mixing, which were the next three players have. And I decided that I was going to on purpose, wait on wide receiver. So I took Kelsey, I at the end around two, and then Joe mixon at the beginning of round three after Kris took the freemen of why did you decide to wait out wide receiver in a league that requires you to start three and you all you very well may start for? I just wanted to see how it would look. It was it was by design so. So it was sort of an experiment? Yep. Yep. It was almost like, you know, going zero being standard. Non-performance and then spoiler alert you're wide receivers are Jamison, Crowder, Markey's, Goodwin Cooper Cup, Jamison, Crowder. Also you have Keelan Cole Marquis Slee DJ more Chester Rogers on the bench. How do you feel about that? I love it. You do. Absolutely. Goodwin Cup, Crowder in your starting lineup, you have of girly of Nixon guys. Do you think that's a a wide receiving corps? You think that that's okay. Goodwin Cup and Crowder and a three receiver league. If Joe mix and makes the leap that Jamie Thanks, Joe mixon is going to make, then I think he'll be okay, but I and he's got Kenyan Drake as well as us. Great pick. So there's I talk about this when I talk about the running back, it doesn't matter what positions you get your points from. You have to get a certain number of every week. He's got a lot of points from his tight end and running backs. I think it's a riskier strategy. All right. Let's keep going here. So you have girly, Kelsey and mixing, and if you didn't take Nixon, would you've taken on Dick's absolute? Okay. So let's go to the end of round four and you had the eleventh pick around for the second pick of round five and you're filling out the core of your team and who go with and Chris hours just ripped Jamie's heart out. He said Indiana Jones style did. Why would he took Chris HOGAN. Indiana Jones style love it. That was after Jamie's I make. So Jamie could've taken Chris HOGAN with with his his pick and the fourth round he didn't. And then Chris took him with the next big..

"If he doesn't build confidence in the preseason might lean on those short area. Targets a little bit more coaches might tell them to do that a little bit more. And that could be good for our. Well, how about we got Freeman? We've got Howard. We got McCaffrey, we know that we go a little bit deeper, and now we bring in the Shawn McCoy jerick McKinnon and Joe mixing. And would you take any of those guys ahead of the first three? Would you take MacKinnon McCoy or mixing over Freeman McCaffrey or Howard? I'm taking mixing all those guys. Over Vermont? Yes, easy. I've got mixed him behind those guys, but I'm reserving the right to change it based on I, I got a real good feeling about the Bengals offense in the first preseason game. I want to see a continue. I would not take any of those guys over the first group and I'd rather have Alex Collins those guys to a who. Okay. What about Derrick? Henry. I think Henry and mixing are really interesting. And right now I've got mix and just ahead of Henry and I'll it'll probably stay that way, but I think those two are very, very similar. I think makes going gonna be polarizing. I think we could. We could spend three four minutes on him and lay out every type of scenario, which one is the most likely one, and I think he's gonna be a lot better. I just don't know that the split between mixing NGO is any difference in the split between Henry and Louis. You've kind of been teamed GIO all along. And I think that that that might that might end up being the biggest blemish on mixon's draft resume is that you know that GIO is going to be in there on third downs, probably gonna be the two minute drill running back to. Can I give you a stat? I wanna know what to make of this from week three to week, twelve. That was mixing real audition twenty became the feature back week three to twelve. Then he got hurt in week, thirteen against Pittsburgh. Giovanni Renard did not have more than three carries in any of those nine games. He had more than three catches only once. He scored two total touchdowns both receiving in those nine games. He was. Relevant. The reason is reason Giovanni, Bernard's final numbers look good. It's because when mixing got the concussion geo the last five games of the year. I believe it was. He had thirteen eleven, fourteen twenty three and ten carries. But they basically said from week three to twelve. Joe mixing, it's your backfield is when Bill took over. I don't know. That's gonna have a good player. They should probably should get him a little bit volved Nixon's concussion that week fourteen I think it was thirteen thirteen hits Berg. So what do you make of that? I mean, they, I think I think Joe mix is going to be a star. I mean, I like that he lost weight. I like the improvements on the offensive line. I think it's his show. I think he's underrated as a pass catcher. So I'm expecting him fifteen hundred yards in ten plus. Okay. So if you if you're going to pick one out of that whole group, Jamie, you like mixing the best mix in my top. Eleven. You like better than McCaffrey and PR? Yes. You'd like better than Freeman in both formats? Yes. Dave. Who's your one or two favorites from this group of like six running backs that we've said Freeman McCaffrey Howard McKinnon. McCoy. Mixim. Yeah, I'm sold on Alex Collins. Bring up. You wanna wait on. He's part of part of the next group of, okay, so I've got. I've got Howard eleventh Freeman, twelve McCaffrey fourteenth Henry mixing that that's how they rank in non PR and it's shaken up a little bit different in in full point PR with McCaffrey at the top of the list heath, although Freeman, both formats right end. So Howard. Jamie and I did that flex trafficky referencing and it was it was industry analysts. Howard went fifteenth overall or something. He was the first quote unquote reach. Does he have the potential to have the Todd Gurley bounceback as his finished the number nine running back in non PR fourteenth in PR, but he also add two, three hundred touches..

"For Michael junior So last week baseball all. Star game was a lot of fun really. Entertaining night of baseball and about two minutes after it was over we, forgot about the night of baseball, because we were invalid in controversy Josh hater of the Milwaukee Brewers really promising young relief pitcher for a team that's been in. The thick of, things in. The National League central all year. Long some very racist very homophobic and I. Would say extremely regrettable tweets were unearthed during the all star game I'm not. Sure what, the, motivation was for the person who was. Going back, you know six seven, years and Josh haters Twitter history but nonetheless, the tweets were, awful and he, is gonna go to sensitivity, training and he apologized he apologized publicly he apologized to his teammates and I'm sure the, whole all-star. Experience ends up being a, pretty, negative one for one Josh Hader lot of people are wondering okay what's going? To, happen when he takes the mound when the regular season resumes well the regular season did resume for the Milwaukee Burn this weekend at home they had a three-game. Series against the, l. a.. Dodgers Josh hater took the mound. On Saturday night and he got what I. Would call a rousing standing ovation from the fans at Miller park and the. Reaction of, hater, by the fans in Milwaukee it's gonna. Be much, different when the brewers, go on the road I think we all, recognize that but, there's been a, lot of reaction to the, reaction that Josh hater God from the fans at Miller park Mina times ESPN radio host, host of. The morning rose says the, Milwaukee, ovation for hater negatively impacts the groups that hater was oppressing with his tweets? Imagine, being in that crowd imagine watching from home The gay person right which for example something he tweeted I think I was anti-gay and seeing hundreds thousands whatever if people stand up and applaud that person imagine. How that because that's what. Matters it doesn't matter You know what. You the person applauding think it, matters what the impact. Of that applauses, in it, boggles my mind that people can't, wrap their minds around the notion that that impact is the only, thing that really matters, here I get it and I agree but but they weren't they weren't applauding Josh hater the person they were not they they were applauding the fact Josh, Hader pitches for their favorite team which is independent race and he's really good and for this team. To win the National League central or to get to the postseason for the first time since two thousand eleven they need Josh. Hater to be as good in. The second half as. He wasn't the first half and so showing him some support, and making him feel good if that can increase the, likelihood that he's affective on the mound we're gonna stand in, cheer form that's, what? That, was if, if Josh hater. Is the twenty-fifth man on the team if, he's, a scrub at the end of the bench if, he's a relief, pitcher struggling who's often. Throwing pouring gas The fire they're not standing and cheering him and doing so. With the volume and the passion that they were on Saturday night they were cheering for their guy to do as well as he. Has in the first half in, the second half for. A team that's, independent race, that's all that was about this, was not a real show of support this wasn't him Kim them, condoning what he did, this was this guy's important to our team success and we want our team to win and so if by showing him support he has a better chance, of helping our team win that's what we're gonna do that's all it is now you might not. Agree with it you might think that that's sad I'm gonna bring up a another Cincinnati thing so last year the Bengals draft. Joe mixon Joe mixing you may. Remember it in the. Run-up to the draft was one of the most controversial guys, and fell into the second round because when he was, a to Oklahoma he was caught on videotape punching a woman Punching her in the face knocking her out and he missed a year of at Oklahoma and he fell into the second round. And the Bengals drafted him. They traded down and they did so because. They're running game needed to be revived and frankly..

"Important role in that offense i think that he's an integral part of that team so i know he'll be on the field how do you view this news the surprisingly good health of jubran art in the context of joe mix in a jeremy hill as bad news for mixing avenue it was we've talked about all offseason that it it will not be shocking if they slowly work mix in and but of geo was out in you have this passcatching roll just available maybe mixing can get going but of geo is there to be the pass catcher jubran artisan excellent passcatching back he's he's a good tower he just is not built to be in every dump back but if you just give him the workload i mean that's just that's more and more touches away from joe mix and and you have jeremy hill still there could be a goal i'm proud i got an throw throw as a can't recalls neighbor there is a beat reporter for the bankers was on the sideline does does the footage noise recording some practice second here's a hanna for jimmy hill do just falls like falls down immediately arm tackle announced joe mix concern air under 60yard touchdown why why why got do that the jeremy hill ruining dirty all right there are i mean that's a running back situation to watch the preseason a couple other teams have some interesting news breaking brooks you you took my quote verbatim and put it into the notes here i am i wanted to talk about the tampa bay backfield i for my quote was tampa bay bullcrap because the news breaking about tampabased backfield was just a bunch of bull crap has got to say that nothing that's broken has been news to this guy well the what is the new whose there is no new that's the daily news here's here's what came out first first all of a sudden i it says that to quiz rogers could unseat doug martin beer doug martin could not be assured the the starting role in week three your week then the next day.

"You are and so how can i be excited about a guy who i'd i'd have no i don't even over this when he would make the team if guys like been wicker eu or kvarde russell or any of those those dues really step up and play who is e now it gets that to me that's kind of the the intrigue the singer but he's not really ah is is not really a veteran because isn't really play but is billings i'm ominami a guy that can stuff the middle i mean when i was a linebacker i used to love this big bodies i could just take a blockers and man keep him off me let me run around i think he can do that and and again nevada's berber he's got to be so excited about that it's it's our hello nada right now he the ray lewis if i was very lewis move ted hello tenaga every bit of mob steak dinner whatever whenever you want you can habit of you are making me a ton of money with me that's andrew billings for a perfect yet was the move see without giving era rookie your most excited about so rookie of most excited about all of field issues aside so i want to get into that govern the door your fine but joe mix in on the football field bs dynamic i mean there were friends of mine who i talk to wit before the bengals drafted eminent are really don't want to draft this guy really don't want it he's going to be he's going to be this he's going to be that as it just watch the tape that from a pure footba standpoint that's all i want you to do as washes kids tape if you watch his tape the things that he does with the football in his hand are amazing from the standpoint of he is the power runner that jeremy hill is with the grace for and miss ability if you will of of giovanni bernardin i mean he is both of those guys in in one and maybe a touch faster and can catch the ball past the reality is like you're you're five tool player in baseball most looks at this point where he can do a little bit of.

"On an nfl roster if you've got an nfl but i guess her point is if you're going to watch this fight action and added that i agree but but part of the money that yours spending to buy that fight is going to floyd mayweather you're actually giving money to floyd mayweather where if you go to an nfl game a joe mix inner array rise thirty adrian peterson or any one of those guys it they're kind of just you know second third tier receiving that money i'm not unless they can make sense i just got a rationale after the but i think that's what we do do rationalize our reward to you read it but we rationalize everything every day i agree in at all i'm saying is i think it's it's similar even those the direct connection deploy may whether who will make hundreds of millions of dollars off this fight abdic you're still supporting anyone who has been convicted of that in the nfl golden nfl game or watching info game as well it's messy and at the end of the day i i hate to see these events in these incidents my biggest thing has been how the joe mix of the world have never going to jail for what they have done now you're right about that put you could take the flipside and make the argument of joe mix in was kicked off the oklahoma football team but he was boycott a year he was but he wasn't kicked out of the program came back and he was a i look i understand but you could make that same argument that he certainly one way or another did receive punishment for what he did but when you and i do things like this we go to jail that's what should happen when you and i that had word normal citizens it's a that's right hannibal altogether you're right it's different and it's painful and it's all full and this is what our society dictates are the celtics really get a trade the number one overall pick brian went ores joins us next to tell us it's rottenberg it's met gap it's espn radio and the espionage up okay camp for the grand prize of one million dollars.
