"Because they like competition. The head coach likes competition. That's what he was raised on on competition, So he's going to say what he always says that he's going to say We got a competition going on with quarterback position. You know what? I know? It comes. Yeah. Yeah, And he who wins that who comes out of that? I'm hoping it's Kato. That's my car. Yeah, it feels like Cade. Um, you know, I was kind of looking it up of every quarterback that Michigan has brought in. To Michigan under Jim Harbaugh. Kate has thrown for more yards than any of them. Alan Bowman's number two. I mean, so they had these two guys, both of them in terms of high school passing yards. These are guys that they might not have the arm that has NFL scouts drooling. They might not be. You know, the six FT five Gun slinger. They might not be. You know, someone like a Joe Milton. But they've thrown a lot And so you know, I think analogy I use is for baseball. Sometimes you go look at a guy threw a bullpen session. He's got a 99 mile an hour fastball crazy. Good slider, get him in games. It's a different kind of situation. These two, I think are going to be on the gamer side of things. They know how to how to, you Know, use the touch. They know when to throw hard when the When the kind of floated in over the defenders arms they know when to How to react emotionally, You know, In all these situations, they have a lot more game reps. Then Wilton Speight did. They have a lot of throws under their belt, So I think that that makes it if you're looking for a reason to be optimistic, maybe that's one of them. If you go look at who makes who sticks on NFL rosters who gets drafted higher than people think it's a lot of guys who have thrown for a lot of yards and throwing a lot of passes in their day, and they so they know which passes to throw when and how to react to The different defenses, So I think it'll be Cade. Um yeah, I think he's I think he had the extra two years. Learning the system is going to give him a leg up and and he's pretty talented. I mean, this was someone he was committed to Notre Dame USC, even though they can get whatever l a quarterback they want. They were sniffing around and offering Alabama offered. So I think Think he gets a little underrated just because he wasn't you know Joe Miltner Dylan McCaffrey Last season. He was the other guy, but now he's the guy and so I think I think he has a pretty good chance to be pretty good. But just like on defense, just like on the offensive line. Snap to snap is what's going to matter here. I mean, how many times did we see in Michigan? You know, Cornerback make a great plan. Second down on third down, he's you know, talking at the Jersey committing a 15 yard penalty or how many times did we see a linebacker? Make a great tackle for loss? Two plays later, he's getting flushed out and and the guys running for 20 yards down field, so Um, yes, a quarterback. It's great to have a couple good throws or to string a couple together. But if you fumble or or I don't know if there had died or or trip or something, you know you can kill a kill a drive. You can kill a game's momentum. And so I think I think the, uh that's the hard part for Michigan's coaches to judge because what shows up in practice isn't always what shows up in games. But I'm really intrigued by these two and their quarterback battle just just just because I think I mean, they're just the gamers to the gun slinger types. They don't They are gonna sling it 70 yards downfield, But maybe they don't need them to. Maybe they just need someone to move the offense. No, you look it. I think the strength of this office this is is this wide receivers. I mean, even even with the loss, even with the losses of some players that left but I mean, the if you look at that y receiver room you got some veterans there, there that that have had an opportunity to play and some guys that you know that you would say wow. I think you've got to be pretty happy. What you see in that in that room, because I mean, you got Sammy Still, you got Sammy step. You got bell You got, uh A J hitting, uh, corneas. Johnson and I still think Easter. He's just waiting to explode. You know, I I think he's going to explode this year. Um And then Roman Wilson, a guy who can who can really who could really fly and you know when it comes to it, but Here's my thing. Um, Zach, and this is what I'm afraid of. You got two players that I like these guys will risk their bodies. And so I'm talking about the quarterbacks in Bowman and in McNamara. Problem is that They can get hurt. And you know, getting hurt. It takes the team doubt. And these guys the way they the way they are. I called it the Jim McMahon kind of play. They don't care. They have no, they have no conscious of their bodies. They will die. Jump get hit! Take the hit whatever it takes to make that play that one play. I get nervous with that. They got to take care of themselves in order to take care of the team. You know what I'm saying? Oh, they may They may have to take a sack they may have to get out about. I mean, instead of diving in for the for the touchdown, because it looks good. You. You take it out, and we'll do it. The next play. We'll get that touchdown. The next place. You know what I'm saying? So I worry about those two being healthy enough to play each and every game. That's a that's a great point for context. For those who don't know Alan Bowman story. He scored a touchdown heading into halftime at Oklahoma on a punctured lung. He had already suffered the injury and he was like, Well, I need to score this touchdown or I need to. I need to end this half on the right. No and That's admirable. That's heroic. Um, you know, I'm not going to say that that he made the wrong decision that moment cause I wasn't there. But At the end of the day. What play was causing him to get hit that hard? Was it his offensive line? Or was it was it hit something that he was doing? And Kate McNamara? You know he had He had a pretty severe shoulder injury last fall in the Penn State came and you know, I don't think he, you know, kind of looking back on the play. I think if I'm remembering it correctly, he probably could have slid. Or gone out of bounds. If if you know he wasn't wired in the way that he's wired, so that's up to Michigan's coaches to scale it back now they do have J. J. McCarthy. The team rallies around the starter QB one is captain, right, You know, that's the the Friday night lights line, and so exactly you lose a guy or if he has to go out for even a series that can really Put put a little bit of panic in the team. And and you.

"The in taking part in a tough party for for her body Here is, you know he had the competition, of course with Dylan McCaffrey, who had proven much more on the field than Joe Milton, and they didn't even practice against Ah, defense where they were able to hit. And Joe Milton wanted in the land side. What? What It appears that he won the number one job in the landslide victory. So how does Harbaugh now that he had Milton, who was great on the practice field like he could stand back there at 65. He looks like a dynasty throws the football 70 yards. How is he able to work that competition? Because when Kate back in America came in, remember it was You know they're down. 17 points with over, you know, four minutes to play and a half he takes command. He provides a spark. He shows that he's a gamer. He lives in the five touchdowns and that victory. So if we're going on what we've seen on the field and That's what accounts How do you take the guy that's great in practice, but then lost. It struggled a little bit with his confidence and in game situation through a guy that came in and let it up. And then, of course you have the You know the youngster that everybody's gonna be looking at as well. It's It's very intriguing to talk about Yeah, I still say because of his performance. I would think that would that would be McNamara's job to lose. Uh, right. I think whoever's the starter The progression can. It could be helped along by us having a. You know, you know, a top notch running game, and I think we got the pieces to do it. And let's see. You know what type of running game more and, uh, my car can put together because I'm telling you right now, if we could run the football, it'll make life so much easier. You know, I'm called trip off. You're able to run the ball. Guys are opened by five yards. And if you're not, then it's gonna be. You know, it's gonna be tough throwing, so I will just have to see. Uh I don't care. I don't. I don't have a particular preference of who The only thing I can go by is what I saw in rockers and some of the other games. It definitely looked like the ball was coming out, You know, accurately and on time with McNamara, but now you know it was, you know, we thought it was he injured. I mean, they were saying that he was injured, right when that was throwing it correct some injury? Yeah. Are you kidding me? That's like a some holding a football. You got four fingers on the other side. But the thumb is responsible the entire side of the ball so like that, that is the one I guess wonderful at all. If you recall a singer Flandy, then it's the one that you can't injure. When you throw the football. It could be any finger. But it can't be your thumb. So I mean, if that is a that is a major injury for anybody's trying to throw a football, So I mean, if that was part of his problem. And I mean that that's a that's a legitimate that's a legitimate excuse not to make excuses for anybody. So we're just gonna have to see our boy J. J was state as the name he loves centers. For whatever reason, he never spit out the name Tom Dickson. And that dude was an excellent sanity of all big 10 on for whatever reason, he never quite gets mentioned. Uh, that 83 team the thing that always stood out with. Maybe that was the big Bob Bergeron checks that they be Iowa. Um, the thing about that team, it was life after Anthony Carter. That was That was the tough thing. I was the one in greed. I guess I guess Jan. Use red shirted that you're that was the one ingredient didn't quite have that explosive receiver. What I remember about the sugar ball is Triano Mark Array, You know, he called a pass in instead of stepping out of bounds and maybe getting a miracle kick. Forget how deep it was, but you stepped out of bounds. We may have a shot of the miracle. Feel horror or hail Mary, but he kind of stepped out of bounds with time running out, and they kind of remind me of and I remember thinking of Tyler record in the 2005 ball game against Nebraska, which we got robbed by the way, instead of just handing that to Steve Breaston, who could've ran for a touchdown. Just ran out of bounds. And I remember losing my mind over that. So there's there's two situations kind of been kind of how well one another, but well, what you going to do, But in terms of basketball, I don't really care. I guess I'll be honest with you. I've seen this win to Big 10 tournaments, and it seemed like that The basketball team really took the momentum of winning not so much the regular season. But when in those big 10 tournaments and ride that wave You know, through the tournament, So I guess if I had to choose one I'm like when they win the big dent Big 10 tournament, and they kind of ride that wave because I mean, it's kind of a downer. When you win the regular season. Then you make an early exit in the conference tournament, so Well, it's not really gonna matter. It's a bummer. You can't follow it up with the big dance like we can sit around talking about like we did earlier. You know, the Fab Five never won the regular season title there, whether work on and there weren't big 10 tournament, so you know And, of course, look at them like you know, back to back Championship games. The one thing about the big 10 the regular season. It's the long haul your playing 20 games. When you have that much more information about the team and say, Hey, if you could win that Just getting hot in a three game setting. You would think every time you would take the you know the data of regular season, but it's sometimes You know, Tommy and record never believed in. You have, you know, taking Mo mentum from No, like a conference tournament into into the NC, double A and, you know, Yeah, but you do and coaches talk about you. You get more madam inside of a tournament by No, Like I said, it happened both ways. I mean, that's the that's the part about it. Well, I wouldn't. I wouldn't exactly put Tommy am occur on the Mount Rushmore of Michigan basketball coach Mike Collins fired. No, no, actually, before you say something bad about Tommy. Annika. I understand how he came in..

"Of this game the games this year, your favorite play your least favorite play, and I know I'm just throwing this at you. You know, I think that if you're going to Ah, he's if I was starting to think about this, which I was the Minnesota game had a lot of Good plays involved in that. That's where out and then you could. You could look at a lot of the other games if you're looking for your least favorite place. Well, my favorite play and that's weird that you said that my favorite play was the swing pass to Blake Corum that started the season. Wow. And that young man, they gave him a chance to get him out and open and see him and it was the it was the defining moment speeding. I mean speed in space. Get that speed, and he'll make the space and he did. He almost broke it all the way. But I mean, he opened it up. And that looked good. Uh, my worst. Worst play that I saw. It has to be the Wildcat. I mean you down in the goal line, you got a chance to punch it in. And not only that not only You don't keep Joe Milton on the field just spread him out as a wide receiver. You take a month to fear. And you go strict with a wild cat. And you don't just run wild cat running up in there trying to throw the damn ball. What? Just stop! Stop being cute. Get it in there. Get it up in their score. Bloody nose. Make sure you do it. No, that was my least favorite place. So before.

"Thank you so the point was beach akaba to now. Are you kidding that team. That was a talented team. That was dion steam. Everybody got two six might have so the point is he. Goes back his all mater. And i thought oh he's going to corner the market on college football talent. Because he's jim harbaugh is kaepernick. There's a cool factor. Because he was the forty nine coach. Didn't happen right. Could not out recruit ohio state or alabama or clemson or oklahoma. Whoever you want to throw out there he couldn't do that. He was getting second and third tier college. The one thing you to have. If you're jim harbaugh and you're gonna call the plays you better have a triggerman. You better have quarterback. Will he wound up with shape. Patterson transferred from ole miss up their shape. Patterson's just a you got like a pretty good college quarterback who remember the chiefs can't say cheese gave him a chance to walk on with them. Basically there's undrafted free agent and he couldn't make it now he's in that spring league so that tells you that's jim harbaugh was trying to win with and he had that one. Run that you're one some from you off the run but in how many you said they wouldn't win more than five games will they did win more than five but once they got to columbus ohio. We've cable i lasted for almost a half and then the wheels came right. They really came off and they have way too often right. Okay so now. He had this kid. Joe milton the first time. I saw him this year. I thought you know what that kid's got a chance to be pretty good. He's not very good. He's lost his poise. He's lost his confidence. And you know what it's like. Jon gruden jim harbaugh hard to play for very demanding gradu- down especially at that position. He's hard to play quarterback for. And if you don't have a quarterback and you don't have any pro pipeline going on in your recruiting you're going to be a disaster and this is this thing. They're one in three playing at rutgers saturday. Three i'm saying. Yeah rutgers beaten michigan state to start the been moved rutgers. Yeah he might just just go ahead and go well. It could be that they might not dhabi. You can't be look we know. He's not beaten ohio state. we already know that skill. so he's not just not beating even like avoid embarrassment or though cannot the cannot aboard embarrassment. Like i'm saying skip euclid getting eight million dollars a year. They give the gave you everything you ask for it. You've given them nothing in return. He i mean ten and three. That's not good enough. That's not good in in school. Spirit and pride that school ranks near the top at the time. So they're not going.

"No, I think the best place did I think the best players always putting it in with Joe Milton. You wanna put Joe Milton under center and he's always He's a run past guy, right? You make him the run past got You can't even give or he throws and he he makes a plate. Get Joe to make the play. It's a player option, and Joe, it's in your hands make it happen. You see it, he could. He could either stretch for the first out, or he makes it easy throw because everybody's coming at him, and he makes that easy throw to the guy over and who's running the waggle or whatever, you know they're running something. I'm going to run something, whether up the scene or into the into the flat to get that touchdown or the first step. Yeah, And that's what it seems like. If you have a quarterback at that size with that kind of athletic ability. Now we're talking about taking it just half yard back. You roll him out. He's got how many ever seconds there in the entire side of the field to decide whether he's going to throw the ball or be able to run it. I'm with you on that. All right. Well, that was that was part of it from the exes and Oh's. That was a play that was in a game that were there wasn't a lot whole heck of a lot to talk about. From a Michigan standpoint, when you get down 14 21 28. Then you get that side where you've got something to, um Where you've got something to cheer about, or something to get you going, And then it does not happen. All right, J Mo, But take you back to when you were playing here was. Did you have a situation like What's going on with Michigan right now, with the quarterback where you've got a quarterback, and in mid season whether somebody gets hurt, you gotta put another guy in or whether one of the quarterback gets benched. And then you got another guy coming in. What's that situation like from a player's standpoint? Oh, it's confusing. Look when Jim Harbaugh broke his own my freshman year, Yes, it was me who fumbled the ball against Michigan State, and he tried to cover it and got his arm broke and We lost our quarterback. It flung us into. We went into a six and six seasons that being said it was between rust Green and Krister broke and we started out with rust green. Russ was in practice. He he sprained his thumb a snap, and he sprained his thumb and, um I mean, I'm gonna tell you a secret bows all about toughness and rust jammed his thumb. By the center when the ball was snapped. And, uh, it hurt. You can see that it hurt, both said Get in there and run that play. He just wanted him to run the play. And then he would have let him go See the trainer. You know what I'm saying? Russ said. It really hurts and he walked. He walked off. And photo Tzar brought to get in there. And their brother wants to start. And from then odds are Brooke was the start. I'm just I mean, Yeah,.

"Upside gone up inside, just like they should have done and pushed him over the top. Just get the touchdown. Well, nothing against the third string tight end Looks Schoonmaker. You're the tight end that you were talking about that was blocking on the right side of the line. But if it's the case where you could have put in the jumbo package where you're putting in extra Offensive lineman in there. If you're just looking at that block, or does that take away you're telegraphing like, hey, there running this for sure. And when you take anything out, that's why you don't do it there. That's why you're not bringing in the jumbo package. Look, you already have your jumbo package You were going in there. You saw that. You saw what you were going to do. They called time out. You should have changed the play going the other way. You should've went the other way because they knew where you were going. They knew exactly. You could see if you watch that again and again. They knew it was coming to the right. Right hand side. That's where the strength is. That's where they thought that they could get it. And they understood. You could see that Wisconsin called time out. They build. They put somebody else on that they knew what they were doing. He knew the play for some reason they knew the play. No. If I have watched, you know 1000 football games when it gets down to a situation where it's less than a half yard to go. They always talk about. We'll just have the quarterback. I mean, you've got a quarterback and any time you have a quarterback, that's over 62 or 63 Day off this guy 63, and you can just plow ahead and go get that, But What we have seen. It takes where If you're taking it from under the center, you do need to have a little bit of a feel to know where you want to go. And and be able to pick up that half here. You know, Tom Brady is probably the best at it in in all of football ever. I mean, going ahead and get that half yard. Tom Brady's great at it. It's starting to come to our like You're talking about being under center there. What are you looking at? When you're talking about just getting a half yard or you're just feeling where that defense is flying in. You know where you want to go, or are you reacting? Are you reading and reacting or you already know where you're going with that which seems like You know if they guess right or if they blow something up, you know it could end up being not what you want there. What's your feeling there? No. I think they know where they want to go. They want to wedge it in between this dinner and guard and you want to get in there And then you get been Mason to push you. You get Ben Mason is a bull. Pusher man, and nowadays, that's not illegal anymore. So you push him in the end zone. He's 6 ft. Five. Dennis always got to do is reach over. He's got the longest arm span and in football So reach over there. I mean, he always got to do is capped that line one time get over there and make it happen, and he could've just stood up laid in the pile and got pushed into it. So it What are you looking at, man? Just starting in the shotgun there. Is there any advantage? And are you saying that you could fake something and roll out and you've got some half That's what you're doing. Gives you that gives you that run past. Look, it gives you the run past look, but everybody in the house knew that Joe Milton was gonna carry that ball. It's just it's reminiscent of Cam Cameron. I'm Excuse me. What's this thing?.

"The first drive than he did. The entire ball game against Illinois and the open her three weeks ago. But after a punt over to Michigan, Joe Milton through a tipped interception on the first play from scrimmage, Badgers took advantage for plays 33 yards and a two yard Nicaea Watson touchdown. For an early seven. Nothing lead and Michigan's offensive struggles got worse on the next drive. Shotgun snap. Milt wants to throw. It is picked off coming back that is Leo Chanel inside the 20 inside the 15 and down of the 13 yard line. No idea who Joe Milk was growing it, too. That time, Leo Chanel, the middle linebacker for Wisconsin, was the on Lee man in the area. His Dan Miller described later. Just like Fred Brown. If you picture Georgetown and North Carolina, that's exactly what it looked like so again in Michigan territory finished off of the grammar touchdown pass. Mason, stocky from one yard out, so 14 nothing Wisconsin early in the first quarter. Michigan on the third drive didn't turn it over. That's a success. But they did go three and out in Wisconsin finished the quarter going 59 yards, and he plays To start the second quarter on the Wolverines one mark, send his tight end Ferguson. Emotional right, They give it to the first back through that. Is Mason, stocky into the end zone Touchdown, Wisconsin, they extend their lead. It is now 22 nothing here at the big house with 14 54 to go in the first half. Extra point. Good 21. Nothing badgers at that point out game, Michigan 1 30 to 1 and another three and out for Milton and the Wolverines offense and Wisconsin went right down the field yet again. Hurts. Takes the snap. Hands off that toxin. Five walks into the two walks into the end zone. Touchdown. Wisconsin, they extend their lead. It is now the Badgers. 27, Michigan Nothing with 10 07 to go in the first half. The four straight touchdown drive for Wisconsin after an opening party for a 28. Nothing lead The 28 points for Wisconsin all before Michigan had a first down Now the Wolverines did get the Badgers on their heels on the next series got all the way down to the Wisconsin one and a touchdown on a third down play, but it was overturned. So the Wolverines had 1/4 and goal at the one went forward down four touchdown. Jonah was stopped at the 1 28 nothing preserved. That was the lead for Wisconsin at the half and is noted earlier tonight 28 Point deficit of the half Michigan's largest halftime deficit. It's the big house opened in 1927. Now it'd kick a field goal early in the third quarter got on the board, but middle of the third Lambert's The knockout thrown on second down, merged back to throw and zone Talk touchdown. Jake Ferguson hauls it in three in the opener against Illinois and he's got one tonight and it's Wisconsin, adding to their lead in his 34 to 3 with 4 45 to go in the third quarter. Kicked the extra point. Michigan went to the backup quarterback Kate McNamara. If you're looking for a positive tonight, his one drive that led to a touchdown was outstanding, putting a two point conversion. Gotta win 35 11 to the fourth. But then Michigan couldn't stop Wisconsin backups from running the football. For 341 yards tonight in a 49 11 victory Wisconsin over Michigan, setting up a showdown next week for the Badgers in Evanston against four and old Northwestern back to Dan Miller and Jim Miller in the Big House. Jason. Thank you very much. That's kind of recap this one and talk about where these teams airheaded. If you're Wisconsin, Jason just said it. You're headed for a big game with Northwestern last week, and I think you feel like that Cove it scares.

"After a season opening win at Minnesota, the Wolverines have dropped off back to back losses to Michigan State last week. And today 38 21 the final at Indiana. Let's go through the highlights of this one. It was a slow start for Michigan to three and outs with an Indiana touchdown drive between those two quick possessions. But then Michigan's offense got going midway through the first Milton back to throw pressure coming deep pass down the middle. The ball is don't for and it's caught. Touchdown. Michigan Cornelius Johnson with a diving grab, and he's got Michigan on the board won't wanna play with a past. What a catch. What Hey, pass by Joe Milton. Tom Brady would be thrilled with this throw right here. Four plays 78 yards, and the game was tied at seven that unfortunately for the Wolverines would be the final tie of the game. Michigan's offense in the rest of the first half mustard just 33 yards. Now, Indiana's racked up almost 300 total. Came up with a touchdown, a punt a field goal and a touchdown on their next four drives. After that game, tying Michigan score, Michel panics 250 for passing yards and three touchdowns before the break when Indiana was up. 24 7 Michigan coming out of halftime, needing a spark Wolverines defense, they delivered a pretty quick stop. And got the ball back. Did Michigan's offense at their own 20 holding call? Push Michigan back to the 10 been a first down completion of 23 yards to Ronnie Bell. On the next play, Milton and Bell connected again. Milton, with three receivers split right back to throw pressure coming. Milton's got time. Bail's out of the pocket left looks.

"It does. Well, you know, the one thing about Joe Milton is that we talked about him so much, and then we've just gone over. What he did in the opener, but it wasn't just hear people that cover Michigan. It was across the country. There wasn't anybody that was saying, Well, just wait a second. We don't know if everybody was impressed. Wow. Look at job. And really it was. It was. It was a confidence you talked about calm. I was calm to watching him. It was more like a guy that had been there. This was not a no it It was a great story that he teared up and then you know what the bench said about him going out and kind of when it did for Joe and everything, all of that stuff there, but Just his presence. I mean, he's just He's a such a gigantic Ah, guy and then, but he just was smooth at the controls there and, you know, the I thought just across the board listening to everybody. Talk about him and be impressed into maybe Michigan is back. Harbaugh's got his guy, You know to me, that's ah. If you're a Michigan fan, and you're listening right now, you're probably not in your head. It's just something to feel really good about it. Oh, absolutely, especially when you've got someone like Urban Meyer out there. Listen, Irving Durbin's been sitting there praising him all offseason, saying that Michigan had something special, and everyone I think was going to be skeptical until they saw And I know people are still skeptical because they say it's one game, but you have to keep in mind. Yeah. Minnesota lost six starters on the defensive side. But that was still the number 10 defense in the country last year. This isn't like Going up against Rutgers? Yes, that's a shot at Michigan State, but that's not like going up against Rutgers, where you know, historically, they hadn't been good on the defensive side. They went up against a team that at least had some guys that knew howto played big, big games. And, you know, Benjamin Saint Giusto obviously, was one of them. And and everything like that. So the fact that Jos Able to get that national recognition. I mean, you've got all these people that were either onboard early, like urban Meyer and you know urban is going to go out of his way to Trey's Michigan. You've got people like Paris a leaf, who is just a slap. He's hated on Michigan for the longest possible time on Sirius X M. Sunday morning. He's like, Listen, I've got to take all that back. Michigan surprised me and now they've got a quarterback. I think it's you know, you're just being able to see a guy to go out there and also knowing like he looked like a polished product in his first start. That was his first start, He's going to get better. Right. Like most likely he's going to get better unless there's a giant regression, you know, But if there's just no reason why you would think of him is having that regression so It's Ah, I feel like Michigan fans have to be really confident what they saw from Joe. We haven't even seen the arm unleashed. The quick release, I think was was really great to see the calmness in his feet. The fact that he didn't get jittery on Lee wants that on the sack that he kind of prematurely roll out of the pocket. He didn't do that anymore. We'll see what happens when he goes up in a rivalry game. Probably going to get a little bit more pressure. I mean, no, no slouch coming off the edge of Minnesota and boy Moffet, but he's going to have to worry now about Jacob Panish. And we'll see if you can handle a little bit more pressure both literally and figuratively. And if he continues to ascend, I mean Michigan really might have a gem on its hands. No. And look as you said, Urban Meyer. You got Joe Joe Clack talking about it. So you got some? You got some incredible people. That are really looking at him in his first game. Like you said, they love his poise the way he the way through the ball, how he ran the offense and Like you said. It's his first game just like I mean, wait until they really turn him loose. Well, they say Jim Harbaugh has been saying for a long time. You know you get better from AA. You get better from game 12 game too, So we'll see. And Ah ah, me. Just answer Wolverine maniac there like you said, admitted Soto. Defense is definitely suspect again. I mean, these You had half the defense were guys that played on the number 10 defense the year a year before. I think you have to watch the tale of the tape, right? And when you watch the way that this game unfolded It wasn't like Minnesota was just falling over themselves. Right? There wasn't like they were just out of position. That's this is what Joshua Goddesses defense does. That's the most important thing to watch is if you watch how this game unfolded. It was all about putting the defense in conflict in Joe took advantage of it every time. That's the difference between having a guy that is the triple threat he Khun. He's got the quick release got a strong arm. And he can run the ball. So when you have those three things working together, and I should mention, also, obviously was also smart with the football. That's why Minnesota's defense didn't look good. It wasn't because they couldn't get out of their own way. We've seen what that looks like. This was a situation where you had a quarterback go out there and just dominate. Make the right calls, make the right decisions, throw accurate passes, and actually, I thought the most. The best pass he had all day was an incomplete pass, which was that incomplete. Giles Jackson. Go down by the pylon. He wouldn't write. Where on ly Giles could get it. I still think John's probably could've come up with it. You didn't extend his arms, but he did it well. Rolling left as the right handed quarterback and throwing across his body. It had such an accurate pass right there, so I think it was just a beautiful throat. He didn't just he didn't throw it. He flicked it. Yeah, There's a difference. He just flicked that ball. He wasn't He wasn't full arm throw. He flipped that ball down the field and it went quite a distance. That's what I was impressed about. And that's It was stuff like that. It was stuff like that. Ah, that throw to Ah, Roman Wilson that I thought it was a behind you shot when I was Deep shock, but no, not the deep shot the the other's throat roaming with someone that was complete. I thought it was behind him sitting in the stadium, but then I'm replay again. Joe just threaded the needle. It was the only place they He threw the safe passed yet it might have looked behind him. But it might have caused him to kind of fall down with the velocity But again like there were there. You know there was a cornerback of top of safety underneath. That, you know, I think with some of the previous quarterbacks we've seen Ann Arbor That's probably a pic so No, Go ahead. Finish it. I was just going to say that That's evidence of Joe. Exploiting a defence is Minnesota's defense is good as it was last year. We'll find out as we go down the road, but Again. Watch the tape. This wasn't a situation where Minnesota couldn't. It wasn't even that they couldn't figure out Michigan. It's just that Michigan was in the right place at the right time. Always Minnesota could've done everything right, and I don't know that it would've mattered. Right. I appreciate you coming on giving us that quick. Stop before we go. I need you to break it down for me Who wins this game and why Michigan because it's just so significantly more talented than Michigan State. I think there's maybe, you know, maybe three players on Michigan State's entire roster that could even play at Michigan right now..

Michigan Joe Joe Clack Minnesota Michigan State Urban Meyer Jim Harbaugh Joe Milton Rutgers Jos Able Benjamin Saint Giusto Irving Durbin Paris Sirius ly Giles Lee Giles Jackson football Soto Jacob Panish

"When he got hit and writing the three hundred pound D- Limon's lap, and he took it back for a touchdown, which is every fat guys dream right be a national TV and and you score a touchdown. So. Here's the issue that I saw and I wanted to bring it up play action pass. What is that? That is where you show to show a run play right to get people to bite up, and then you pull it out and you throw a ball. That's very simple terms of what play passes. So that running back that is doing a run fake is responsible for second level blitzer. Depending on the scheme, it could be like the right side second level. It could be coast to coast depending on how they skin their protection what protection they called he is responsible for the second level players. So, if you see a blitz or if on the snap, a blitzer triggers, you have to do what's called FTF that was our rule always FTF fucked the fake there's no more fake it's a blitz. You don't need to fake anyone there already shortened coverage fucked a fake go block the blitzer. Well, this image did not see it was I mean it was he was blind to it and he just run faked hard action. and. My Gosh Tanner Morgan came off and just got lit up. So you look at the game, right? It's because Michigan won the game forty, nine, twenty, four, they gave the handed Minnesota handed Michigan Twenty one points they had the blindside sack fumble for a TD. They gave up a kickoff return to the nine yard line that was seven more points and they try to fake punt that failed and essentially gave them their third touchdown. It was it was just an ass kicking a of. All across the board and I would tell you this Michigan ran the ball extremely well, eight point two yards per carry. They threw the ball decent sixty percent for two and twenty five yards they what they didn't do is they didn't turn the ball over and they had eight missed tackles that tells me that Jim Harbaugh did something right with covert and to get his team ready to play. That's what I've said from the beginning I would be most interested to see is sloppy ball security turning the ball over because that's a non talent issue that's just learning how to hold the ball and making it routine and habit. It's habitual and they only had single digit missed tackles. That's huge. That could. Speak to ways one to how efficiently Michigan tackles or to to the lack of dynamic playmakers at Minnesota. Either way win for Jim Horrible and Joe Milton they'd say said Cam Newton two point Oh. This kid is Cam Newton two point. Oh, he looked really good. That's all say he did look really good fifteen or twenty to sixty percent two, hundred, twenty, six yards touchdown. He was only one for four on deep balls but five five or ten and over ten yards, it's not.

"Minnesota's got to decide. What they're going to do from a defense standpoint, aren't going to stop the run. And they make Joe Milton pass. Are they going to are they going? Are they going to stop the past? And stop and concentrate on the run. You can't do both. There's no team that can do boat. You've got to make a decision. But you've got to put that extra man that you have and you've got to stop. You've gotta bring him up. They bring that same idea or bring that safety back, and we're going to take advantage of what you do. It's not. I mean, it's not rocket science. You just got to keep doing it and be perfectionists at it. Yeah, well, I'm going to go back and really the second half of the Penn State game from last year, Jamie. That's where it seemed like it really started to take Hold. What? What Josh status was bringing in with speed in space and What he wanted to do. It certainly wasn't there in the first few games, so that's when it did seem like what he wanted to do. Started to take Ah effect. And he'll want to let it rip right here from the beginning. If they don't want to start like they had last year, That's that's what we know. And you chalk that up to a first year. The first time with the offense. Coordinator for the first time here this time, you know they they they don't have the wiggle room. Either. One of these teams do then the great thing about watching football here. You know, set everything aside like we would like it to be normal once in a while, but now being ableto when you're watching the SEC teams, each weight class is going to be It's going to be fantastic that we've been. We've been watching all of this, and now the Big Ten's gonna be dropped right into the middle of this, and it's game after game after game, so The more we talk about. Yeah, well, you know, you take time to Joe and you gotta ease into it, and you got a first time quarterback. So let's start with some bubble screens, and I know he's got it. You might get one pass to get it ready there, But ah, year you're rolling. You're Roland. You're going to stretch the field. Let it ripping stretch to field. Let it ripping, you know bombs away, even in the even in the first half against Minnesota when you got If you got the weapon You might as well fire it, you know. Agree that that's what that's Dennis. That's the new Me. That's the knew everything. Why not? Why? What? You're holding it back for what do you wait now? You went to the fourth quarter. If you're down by 15, and then you use it. No, you get up by 15. And then you drive it down their throat. Right. That's when you bring the running game in your drive it down their throat when you when you won't need a 56 10 minute drive. He's driving down this road after that, That's what you do. When you when you don't hold back when I watched Jimmy when I wanted Trevor Laurence, he pushes the ball down the field like this, So this is the guy that's got the best in the game. Right now. We know he's going to be the The number one pick, But these These teams were so afraid in the back third there that he's just gonna let it fly. That That they are not up by the line of scrimmage, and that's when Ian Can get all these huge chunk plays and that's when he could get into the second level, and it's all predicated when it's coming out of these high powered offenses with ease. Strong armed quarterback. That their spirit that these guys were going to take the top off at any time. And you know Clinton, they dio and we saw what Alabama you leave those guys. Whoever it is out there even though they just had all these guys go to the pros. You leave him out there. They're going to take their shot. And convert no shots when you have a chance. Be able to do it is huge, but just loosening things up being able to show that that you can do it. He was the one thing about last year and we can all say this by looking at it. You know, towards the end of the year, it just it wasn't there for Michigan teams didn't have to respect Throwing the ball down the field. Yes, they just couldn't connect. Whether whatever wass Ah Ah, hole in the quarterback game. However, it ended up in just with the accuracy not being there. Michigan couldn't throw the ball. Late last year being able to come out You don't have to establish that. Show it that you do have that. And then that they'll have to respect that That's going that could do a lot. For an offense if you have You have those safeties thinking this one? This one's going uptown. And they're thinking backpedal rather than walking up. Marjolein experiments. That's what letter ripping into me. Yeah, Dennis, that Dennis of Skip, Where are the phone lines open. I'm looking for the phone, baby. 7349 18 50. I'm sorry. We've got to open up the phones. They're open now. J my promised in it, so I would. I promised Dennis, I would have these phone lines open and I You know what I get into that moment that modem for some reason y'all got me fired up early and I just got into it. I apologized to you fans. I'm opening up the phones from now on, and I want to hear from you 73498 10 50 When you hear Jim Hardball. Say let it rip. What does that mean to you? What does that tell you? What I mean is it Let it rip, you know, Run. Run my offense. The old offense. I used to run or is it Hey, it's time for us to get it right. Get it, Poppet. What's popping right? I mean, hey, wants to get his quarterback. He's got a strong armed quarterback. He's got a big quarterback who's athletic. He's gonna forthree guy. Somebody told someone asked me that I'm like, Really? No, he doesn't run for three. He's fourth. He's 4645, but that's pretty. I mean, can you run one? Just stay in. The young man is able to run and move the ball. But if he's back there throwing like Dennis said, Look, he's trying. He's trying to find the open, man. If it's not there. He's not gonna throw it in in traffic. He's going to move the ball up field continuously moved the ball upfield. Get it going. And that's what that that office wants to do. So I mean, look. Dennis. Look, I mean, we heard Jim Harbaugh on the radio show. We got a chance to listen to the new linebacker coach is working with the Vipers in the Sams. I mean, when you hear when you hear a head coach, come on, and he gives you a little bit of information and you hear him. Say let it rip. I hear We're not holding anything back. That's that's what I hear. Yeah, and hopefully that's what it's going to be. It'll be interesting at some point and if we hear from him we dont fantastic. Jean Marie, that linebacker coach that you were talking about along with shoot that was brought over to Coach. The safety's there..

"What will it be like voter fans going to get when they see booger McFarland doing the Todd mcshay role on the Monday night football team. Well, it's definitely going to be very colorful booger. You know, I I played with booger in Tampa for a couple of years. Got to know him. You know, in the locker room where as you know, walking through locker rooms, that's where you really get to know the personalities of these guys. So builder's going to bring a lot of personality. You know, I saw I did a practice game Beth moans and I did it practice game jets and Redskins last week down in DC. And I, for the first time I saw burgers little carp is little mobile on the sidelines with with everything set up his monitors and his, you know, his Mike's and everything. And I finally said, I said, you know that things pretty pretty big, but you're going to block a lot of views of fans. You know of the game, you better be ready for stray beer baller. These have to wear a helmet. Right? It's the two thousand eighteen in stadium version of the Madden cruiser, I guess, for lack of a better way of saying it, it may have cost as much to the custom fitted to boobs. So he's gonna. He's gonna do great. I'm excited to, you know, I worked at Joe tests quite a bit in college football, and I'm excited to see what Jason Witten can bring. You know, I know that that's the big stage for him, so that crew should have a ton of fun and what a great opener with Chucky and and and we Sean McVay and the Rams a good coaches there. You mentioned at the start of this podcast that we would talk some Michigan football. So I figured we'd end up with a little bit of Michigan. Football, I want to tell you I've made a couple of trips there in recent months, and I will say that that the staff thinks that there's more speed on defense and they've ever had, they think shape Patterson. I laughed this week when he was named the starting quarterback because he was always going to be starting quarterback in my mind based upon the I've heard and they've a young guy there. Bryan I'm gonna put on your radar right now, a fresh. Quarterback by the name of Joe Milton. Yeah, six, five and a quarter to thirty to forty runs a four. Five forty throws the football eighty yards. And the way it sounded to me is he could one day compete to be a number one overall, pick in the NFL. Have you know anything about Joe Milton model or? Oh, well, no, I just know. So I know about him from my my old partner, Tom Logan Bill, who does the scouting for high school kids coming out? Yup. And he was saying, same thing about Joe million- I, I draw the line at freshmen in highschool. I don't go any further guys backgrounds than that. I don't wanna be looking at high school film atom. College film when when they get there. So I'm excited. I have not been a practice yet..
